content: percy jackson x daughter of persephone! reader fic warning: none???? i don't believe???? author's note: you wanna know what's crazy???? i was fighting for my life to write this and then i put on hozier and it just...wrote itself??? wtf???? what is that man doing to me???? it was actually kinda scary wtf???
look, percy didn't want to a be a half blood. but, he especially didn't want drag his best friend down with him. she was the only one person, other than his mom, who managed to stick around for so long. she bounced schools with him, mostly because she got grouped in with whatever problems percy managed to cause. he felt so much guilt about it, but she'd just wave him off, saying she would have followed him either way.
he couldn't remember when y/n came into his life, it just felt like she'd always been there. they had things they could bond over; she was raised by a single dad and percy was just raised by his mom. she struggled in school, almost nearly as bad as he did. oh, and they both had godly parents.
percy and y/n had been avid summer campers at camp half blood for nearly three years at this point and not much had changed between them. sure, percy had discovered he could control tons and tons of water and y/n's green thumb increased immensely but they were still just each other's best friend.
just best friends. that's it. that's all they're ever be.
at least, that's what you told yourself, late at night, inside your lonely cabin. persephone didn't have many children, as she had grown fond of hades over the years and they'd been attending godly couple's therapy for a few millennia to sort out their issues. you'd purely been an accident between your mother and your father, a florist with an affliction for using fruit in his arragnments. persephone had a fling with him, producing you. strangely enough, hades had no ill will towards you, he even offered for you to stay in the Underworld with your mother during the winter and fall seasons. you'd told him you'd think about it, and to your surprise, you actually had been thinking about it.
while it sucks finding out you were never intended to be born (loose term here, seeing as you kinda just plopped out of a flower), but its better than the alternative, being born for a purpose...like percy. you'd always felt bad for the boy, forced to live under constant expectations of being something great or nothing at all. you didn't know how he did it.
which is why, at every opportunity, you'd bring percy away from the hassle of camp and towards the woods, bobbing and weaving through the trees until you stumbled upon your favorite spot in all of camp. far in the reaches of the forest, a pond sat. it overflowed with life, the monsters purposefully put in camp basically avoiding it. water lilies and lotuses grew in abundance, nearly covering the whole lake. clearly someone had discovered it before the two demigods, a shabby dock put there (clearly not the work of a child of hephaestus). you and percy would just hang out, listening to the sound of the babbling creek and the chirping of the birds. no words needed to be shared, which is why you were certain you loved percy. he made just being...easiler. there was no pressure with the son of the sea god.
"is a hotdog a sandwhich?" percy questioned, breaking the silence, causing you to giggle, basically rolling around in the soft grass. percy looked over with a cheeky smile, his eyes catching on how the grass seemed to chase after you and brush your skin. he never thought he'd be jealous of grass, yet here he was. he wanted it to be his skin that brushed against you, not some flimsy, photosynthesizing, piece of shi-
"hmmm. techinally, yes but my heart says no. pineapple on pizzas? yay or nah?" you shot back and percy shakes his head, trying not to get lost in thoughts of your skin, your skin on his skin with nothing much between them-
"the answer if obviously yes."
"that better be a joke, jackson."
"if you think pineapple doesn't deserve to be on pizza, you are not the person i thought you were," percy mocked back, squinting a glare at the girl, who was struggling to fight her smile down.
"Looks like we can't be best friends anymore," you dramatically reply, pressing the back of your hand to your forehead and pretending to fall back into the grass, which greedily reached up to catch up and gently lay you down on itself.
"shame," percy muttered back, pushing up with one of his elbows and looking over at her, his smile slowly slipping off and being replaced by a more serious look. you raised a questioning brow at him, but your smile was slowly slipping as well.
"what's going on in your head, sailor?"
"we can't be friends anymore," percy replied, instantly, and partnered with his serious face, didn't land the way he thought it would. you were instantly reeling, pulling away from the boy with a hurt look. the green grass turned from a vibrant shade to a depressive green and the water lilies began to drown, dragged down by there own roots.
"wait, wait, that came out wrong-"
"how the hades else should that have come out?" you bit out, glaring over at the boy and tucking in on yourself.
"no, no, y/n, i just- i meant- ugh, this is going terribly," percy groaned, shoving his head into his hands as the grass swiped out at his ankles, trying to give him paper cuts. it all stopped though as you set a hand against percy's wrist, pulling it away from his face and forcing his eyes to glance up at your patient face.
"try again," you offer, nodding your head gently as you rub your fingers over his calmingly
"you sure?"
"i promise you, it can't get any worse than that."
"rude," percy huffed, laughing with the girl for a moment before taking a calming breath.
"i mean it, y/n, we can't just be friends anymore."
"man, you love to prove me wrong, don't you?"
"hear me out. friends shouldn't look at each other the way i look at you. friends shouldn't think about each other as much as i think about you. friends really shouldn't be willing to put their whole lives on hold because one of them wanted to get lost in the woods. we can't be friends anymore because i can't go another moment longer just being your friend when i know i want more," percy ranted, getting lost in his thoughts, his hands moving about nervously and his eyes refusing to meet yours, no matter how hard you tried.
"percy-"
"and i know i'm putting all these years in danger-"
"percy-"
"but if i went another second without telling you, i think-"
"percy!" you all but shout, giggles following as percy physically jolted as though you hit him. he turned to you with wide eyes and a tilted head.
"yes?"
"just shut up and kiss me."
"wha-"
before percy could continue to yap, you jolted forwards, cupping his face and bring his lips to yours. it took percy less than a millisecond to comprehend what was happening and for him to response. he pulled your body closer to his, desperate to use all of his senses during this kiss, in hopes to lock it in even the deepest parts of his ADHD riddled mind.
not that either of you noticed, but the water lilies returned from under the water, bobbing as though they had been held down there against their will. then they began to multiply, the water lilies and lotuses nearly bursting out of the pond with how many of them there were. the pond, which never had waves, was swishing as swirling like a hurricane was wrecking havoc on it and it alone. a foam was building against the bank and riptides could just be seen swirling under the surface.
and then you two parted and the pond settled once more, like nothing had happened. you two shared a soft smile, one of secrecy and exuberance. then, like nothing had happened, you both cuddled back up with the grass, eyes darting up to the sky and silence settling back over the pair.
though, this time, their hands were firmly locked together and the grass was softly licking at both of their hands, intertwining itself to mimic their fingers and hearts.

you know it's INTERESTING to look back at the double life soulmate pairs and see how they're doing now, relationship-wise, because that experience shaped every soulmate pair differently, i think:
ren and bigb i'll put first on account of "we have no idea since ren hasn't been in the series since double life". when will our doggy come back from the war.......
grian and scar are... grian and scar, the soulbond alone is only part of everything going on there. i think being FORCED to team shaped them a bit into being a little/lot more stable in their relationship with each other in limited life and secret life, as well as maybe taught them a bit about each other's limits. i am... honestly not a desert duo guy there are people who can do the analysis of the soulmate bond's impact on them WAY better than me but. it's part of their overall arc, you know?
martyn and cleo are fun. they both are still clearly CLOSE but they are also both still clearly mistrustful and angry at each other! they have this whole "the only one who can kill you is me" dynamic going on between each other that's very fun. i think being soulmates... obviously they were one half of divorce quartet and the resentment of being forced together did some stuff to that relationship. but i think maybe it also sort of gave them something that they appreciate about each other as well? and they DO care, despite everything. (i could GO INTO THIS LET ME TELL YOU.) so like, they aren't close friends or anything, but they Know Each Other now. and that's a fun dynamic.
impulse and bdubs are funny because i think their bond both did and didn't shape them. the thing is, like desert duo, their soulbond is only one step in their journey, the one that ARGUABLY only settled out in limlife after impulse permakilled bdubs. (note that this is the first series where bdubs hasn't gotten a clock! he is FINALLY PAST that one relationship!) that said i think being each other's ridiculously happy married couple did something to impulse specifically, actually. i think it sort of confused and solidified the grudge and it also like, showed him the almost-happy-loyalty that he wanted in the world. i think these days impulse, at least, has a different idea of 'loyalty' and 'betrayal' thanks to that. and bdubs... i think it's relevant that despite bdubs intentionally CONSTANTLY THROWING UP BETRAYAL FLAGS, he never actually did it. and i don't think he ever actually would. but in terms of their relationship to EACH OTHER? the soulbond was, yeah, only one step in how that arc went.
scott and pearl are... interesting. it's funny; for one of the single most consequential soulbonds in double life, it like... mostly hasn't come up again in their relationship? part of this i think is that pearl's LONELINESS had more of an impact on her than anything scott specifically did, and scott choosing had more of an impact on him. so to each other they're mostly... normal? both a bit mistrustful but like... normal? it's in the ways they act with other people that this experience shaped them, i think; i could say something about scott's next major relationship being mean gills, and the way pearl is only now learning to be a part of a team that cares again. also, pearl's discovery of her bloodlust. that kind of happened in last life to be fair, but it's relevant,
jimmy and tango are surprisingly simple because they were one of the most stable and normal soulmate pairs, lol. they're each other's ranchers! they're still friendly to each other even when their teams are on opposite sides! i think having one relationship where he was the more self-assured one was nice for jimmy and tango having a guy who, rather like skizz, was never going to point out much when tango screwed up on account of Pot Meet Kettle was nice for him, and they both know it was nice. they both get more into the teasing now that they know each other better--a big part of the early ranchers dynamic is that they Did Not Know Each Other but now that they DO it's starting to settle into something shaped more like the kinds of relationships both tango and jimmy tend to have (and they are BOTH the kinds of people to have a lot of friendly mocking in their relationships i wouldn't be surprised if that gets Even More in the future)--but i think out of everyone they probably remember the soulmates thing the most fondly, given the degree to which they are still Buddies.
etho and joel are... good lord the boat boys. on the one hand: clearly they both still enjoy pointing out that the boat boys happened. joel gets... weirdly jealous of other people hanging out with etho? on the OTHER hand they seem determined to murder each other so so so bad. i like to think that their soulbond is a thing they look back on fondly from this but ALSO they both have such weird commitment hangups and bloodlust that maybe the fact they want to kill each other SO BADLY was inevitable. also interesting, though, is how much of this bloodlust comes from etho, given that normally you'd expect joel's relationships to go the other way. what i THINK is happening is that joel still feels a lot of loyalty towards the boat boys somewhere in his head (hence the jealousy and not typically being the one to lash out), whereas etho thinks of it as largely Done and Past, but thinks of it fondly--hence bringing it up every time he has to kill joel, and also the weird tendency to gravitate towards joel specifically. I DON'T KNOW MAN I WOULDN'T HAVE PREDICTED BEFORE LIMLIFE THAT BOAT BOYS WOULD BE THE SOULMATE PAIR THAT WERE WEIRDEST ABOUT EACH OTHER BUT HERE WE ARE,
anyway i just think it's funny to look back on the various soulbonds and realize which ones have had a big impact on sticking around and which ones haven't, you know?

Spider sense and bonds - A meta about the bond of Miles and Gwen.
Hello, hello, tumblr fellas! The final scene where Gwen senses Miles in danger even in another universe has been rent free in my head for the past month, so I've tried to think of how that works.
(If you want to comment on something here, please do! I love hearing what others have to say!)
Let's go! Let's start with what we know. Spider Sense is in the movies:
Just like in the comics, I'm assuming that Spider Sense exists thanks to the Web of Life and Destiny.
Tumblr media
(Beatiful, isn't it?)
Being a clairvoyant power of certain level, it works with what can happen and the most relevant will be warned to the spider. In we have -
a. A danger sensor, be it yours or a loved one of the spider in question. Like Miles and Jeff in the spot fight at the beginning of the movie.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Or Pav and Gayatri in the bridge scene.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
b. A sort of sensor for other spiders. In the first movie, that's how Miles and all the other spiders were able to connect and recognize each other.
Tumblr media
However, this does not happen so often in ATSV, with just Margo and Miles at Society HQ
Tumblr media
(Remember this information, it is important.)
Which brings me to my theory.
Spider sense works as a connection and communication between the Web of Life and Destiny with the spider, which studies all the possibilities that can happen and warns and guides the spider to the event.
Most often with imminent danger.
In the case of Miles and Gwen, like bonds of compatibility, guiding them since they met and only deepening over time.
Gwen felt Miles even in completely different universes because they are the multiversal soul mates most appropriate to each other among the possibilities of the Web of Life and Destiny.
And don't get me wrong, they don't have that connection because they're a couple written in stone by some higher force. Because the Web, the Spider Sense, doesn't work with anything written in stone (including that's where Miguel made a mistake).
If they had never met, they could fall in love and live happily with other people. But they are each other's ideal people. The best compatibility of each other. And that it would only be enough: for them to coexist, to have the possibility of seeing each other, and boom! This connection so strong that it could exist was put to roll.
That's why Gwen was taken to Visions even before Miles was stung. That's why she feels Miles universes away. Of the probabilities in entire realities, they are the ones that work the best. The multiverse judged it that way and guided them and guided them, because they looked alike and because they worked, not because they were destined to do so.
(After all, the whole theme of the movies is about fate is bs and it's more about the odds and your actions on things, so...)
And you must be wondering: why Miles then doesn't feel Gwen the same way? And got that instant hookup vibe with Margo instead?
Here comes the fun part.
Our Gwen from Earth-65 is the best match for Miles Morales, the boy from Earth-1610. And Margo with Spider-Man from Earth-42. Miles from Earth-42. And as Miles was bitten by the spider from Earth-42, Margo and Miles felt that residual connection. (And so I call Prowlerbyte in Beyond)
Remember I said it's not Destiny? Our Gwen and Miles work, but not all versions of them will work. Some are, some aren't (yes, Earth-8 can still be a thing, no worries.)
And that's their fun!
They fall in love, love each other, because they are the best for each other. Because they, just like in real life, found each other and clicked.
They are soulmates because they love each other, and they don't love each other because they are soulmates.

There's a difference between shipping two characters and acknowledging the intense (usually gay) bond between characters. You guys get what I mean, right? Like I'm not just going insane?
Like a BSD example:
-I casually ship Louisa X Lucy because I feel like their dynamic could work in a romantic context and because I love it when girls are in love and they both deserve to be happy 🩷
-HOWEVER Chuuya and Dazai have an intense bond, they are one soul in two bodies, written and designed to compliment the other, Chuuya trusts Dazai with his life and vice versa, Dazai believed in Chuuya's humanity from the very beginning, their old and sorted dynamic, Chuuya being like the only one who understands Dazai's motives, and so, knowing all of this, I simply have no choice but to acknowledge their homosexuality because if I don't then I'm just being willfully ignorant
Or a MHA example:
-I somewhat ship Dabi x Hawks because it's hilarious whilst also having beautiful potential for angst
-BUT Bakugou and Midoriya quite simply just are gay as shit for each other and I have no choice but to accept it. Rivals constantly pushing the other, their complicated history and how they've both grown because of it, their understanding of the other, Bakugou basically trusting Midoriya with his fears and insecurities, Bakugou being the first to know about One for All, Kaachan Bakugou.
Or a MTP example:
-I guess you could say I ship Microsoft X Albert because I think it's sorta very funny and extremely plausible.
-MEANWHILE William and Sherlock are like the only person who understands each other and can keep up with them and Sherlock is diving off of buildings and cradling William's head as they fall (in love).
Or a JJK example:
-I kinda ship Maki X Nobara because I can and I want to and they could work
-ALTERNATIVELY Gojo and Geto where each others one and only best friend, best friend they ever had, knows his smell, his heart and soul know otherwise. They're just disgustingly in love and I hate it but there's nothing I can do about it except cry
Or a Haikyuu example:
-I do ship Hanamaki X Matsukawa because lord is it hilarious and the fanon presentation of a romantic relationship between them is always the funniest thing ever and the fics are so good
-YET Hinata and Kageyama are exactly what the other needed, Kageyama found his better half, their constant pushing of the other to do better, promises fulfilled and matches won, casual moments and casual touch. I did not choose to see them in a romantic light, they forced me to. I am a victim
Or a Merlin example:
-I dabble in shipping Percival X Gwaine purely because I can and no one is gonna stop me
-ALTHOUGH Merlin and Arthur are so gross and icky and care about each other so much and repeatedly risk their lives for the other and Arthur asked Merlin to hold him whilst he dies and Merlin spends forever waiting for Arthur's return. I just can't view them platonically or something after everything I've seen them do and I don't believe anyone who says that they truly don't seem them as romantic or at least something other than platonic or brotherly because how could you not??
Or a Doctor Who example:
-I could ship the Doctor X Jack because that's actually class
-UNFORTUNATELY that would be asking me to ignore the Doctor and Rose. He burned up a sun to say goodbye. He loved her. She loved him, was willing to never see her mother again if it meant she stayed with him. I'm sorry but cmonnnn
Nah but you get what I mean, right? Like I don't 'ship' these people, they're just IN LOVE and I hate them for it.

AvA Blue Character Analysis
Starting this analysis, I thought I would have trouble coming up with something important to talk about with Blue. Their character's been pretty stated, right? They're a pacifist potion-creator who likes eating weird stuff and is good with a bow. They're pretty acrobatic, they're a decent builder but not the best, they don't like being in leadership roles. That's their character, right?
No, it isn't.
The first statement in that list is wrong. Or, at least, is missing many key details that explains a lot more about what Blue is actually like.
Blue has been commonly described as a pacifist, and I can understand why. Before looking into this topic, that's how I thought of them too. They've never been one to start a fight with their friends (unlike most every other member of the Color Gang) and in Piglin War, they wouldn't hurt the piglins, only the zombies.
But that doesn't make them a pacifist. It highlights another aspect of their character that I will discuss later in this analysis, but it doesn't make them a pacifist.
Blue has been shown, time and time again, to kill. They killed the ghast with Green in season 1, along with Yellow's ghast friend in one of the shorts. They have fought pillagers with lethal force, and taught villagers to do the same. They even killed piglin brutes along with the rest of the Color Gang in the Ultimate Weapon. They never hesitated to do that, despite going out of their way (and almost dying) to avoid hurting any of the piglins in Piglin War.
Tumblr media
Additionally, they seem to enjoy the act of fighting. They happily join sparring matches with the rest of the color gang, and will even initiate them as long as they know it is all in good fun. So they do sometimes enjoy battle, and show no hesitance to kill when the situation requires it.
Tumblr media
This doesn't make Blue any worse than the rest of the characters, since they have all fought mobs and killed before and they all like fighting, but it certainly doesn't make them entirely peaceful. So why do they have a reputation as a pacifist? Why do they seem so reluctant to start serious fights, and why were they so careful around the piglins in Piglin War?
Tumblr media
Well, the answer to that seems to be that Blue forms a very close protective bond with those they care about, and they form those bonds very quickly. Everyone in the Color Gang cares about each other, of course, but Blue tends to express their bonds in a different way, and forms said attachments so quickly, that their actions tend to resemble pacifism.
Blue has consistently been quietly protective of their friends in a way that none of the others seem to express. They avoid fights - with their friends. They try to stop conflicts - between their friends. They go out of their way to make sure their friends don't get hurt. They risked their life multiple times to save their piglin friends, both in Piglin War and in The King. Their main focus is often to support their friends and, most importantly, keep them safe.
Tumblr media
In fact, while they've never backed down from a possibly-dangerous adventure, they also have never (purposefully) started one. The only time they did start anything of the sort, they went out of their way to not bring any of the others. New adventures can be dangerous after all, and the last thing they want is for their close friends to get hurt.
This apparent desire for peace that has led to Blue's reputation as a pacifist is really more a focus on keeping their friends safe by avoiding infighting, rather than them disliking battle in general. But this still seems like a good thing, on a surface level, since being the protective mediator should help to keep those friends they value so deeply safe.
Tumblr media
But there is a problem with Blue's thought process. Because their friends have gotten hurt before. And, worse, people who Blue had started to view as a close friend have hurt them. And they haven't taken either scenario well.
Blue often appears to be the one who's hit the hardest whenever it appears their friends have been hurt or killed. Everyone cares, everyone's upset, but Blue always appears the most distraught. They're so afraid to lose their friends that they will regularly risk their own life or even harm their friends on accident - most notably in the Ghast friend short - in an attempt to protect them. Blue isn't instinctual like Orange, but their actions can still be misguided when they don't have time to think everything through.
Tumblr media
But there's more than one way to lose a friend. Purple's betrayal seems to have affected them deeply, such that - significantly after the betrayal, even after it appeared Purple was their ally again - Blue was very reluctant to trust anyone who reminded them of Purple. Far before Mango revealed their plan, Blue still did not trust them, solely because Mango reminded them of Purple. Blue puts in so much energy and trust into their friends that losing one through betrayal hits them incredibly hard.
Tumblr media
Blue is a lot of things. Like all the Color Gang, Blue makes friends easily. They always do their best to keep their friends safe, both from outside threats and from each other. They're crushed at the idea of their friends dying, and will risk their life to stop that from happening. They're afraid of betrayal.
But one thing that Blue is definitely not, is a pacifist.
Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed, you thought of this topic in a new light, or at least found it interesting! I'll be honest, I really did think of Blue as the pacifist one up until now, but from what I can tell now that's based in something entirely different.
Thanks to rigatoniiiiiiii for the suggestion to do something for Blue! And sorry for like directly contradicting the one thing you said about them but this was the topic I came up with- 'XD I was considering doing something on their relation with Green here too but this is a long enough analysis already so I'll do that some other time.

Love Like Wolves
OBI-WAN KENOBI X READER (gender neutral)
WARNINGS: canon typical violence and innuendos, insecurity (on readers end), brief mention of small age gap
SUMMARY: Obi-Wan assures you you're his despite it being secret
A/N: hot dilf. I also don't proofread my writing so deal with it lmao
Tumblr media
Satine was gorgeous. You'd admit that. She also was so kind which made it hard when she was clearly showing interest in your lover. Obi-Wan wasn't flirting back by any means, but that didn't stop the hands of that ugly feeling to take hold of your brain. You of course masked it with the force, knowing that he could sense it otherwise. He could definitely tell something was wrong, but didn't have any idea what. You excused yourself to go and lick your wounds like a cowardly youngling. If Obi-wan was concerned he didn't voice it.
In our quarters you didn't find much peace either. in fact you had been pacing, your lightsaber clinking in its holster as you did. You know Obi-Wan would never be disloyal despite no one knowing about you two. He's not the type. However; it also means he can't publicly claim you. Maker, you sound so primitive. Is that really what we are in the end? Just like animals? Are you the same as a loth wolf? They mate for life. Does Obi view you as his life partner? All These thoughts swarmed your head like wasps. Obi was older than you, surely he's smart enough to not throw away a good thing. At least you hoped so.
"They're a good catch, Master Kenobi."
saltines eyes glittered as she spoke, A knowing glint in her eyes. Obi took notice and looked around in panic.
"Relax, I will not speak of it to anyone."
"If I may ask; how did you know?"
Obi-Wan didn't think he was THAT obvious. Or was he? Maker, he hopes not.
"The way you look at them. Its not obvious, but if someone knows where to look they can tell. Now, I will be taking my leave."
He watches Satine go. He surely hopes no one heard their conversation. Maker knows how much trouble he'd be in if the council found out. he wouldn't be able to take it if they took you from him. You're his light in the dark. He NEEDS you. Although now he's picking up on your distress. How did he not notice before? He starts off towards your quarters. He knows how you get. He just hopes you'll be in the mood to let him calm you down.
Upon his arrival he knocks twice then three times; the secret knock you two have. When you open the door he's greeted with your glare. Oh maker, what did he do? He doesn't recall doing anything. Your strained voice startles him out of his reverie.
"How's Satine? You two have fun making eyes at each other?"
Your tone gave away your emotions, something Jedi are not supposed to do. But right now you didn't care. Realization hit Obi-Wan's face.
"Darling, we weren't doing anything of that sort. Satine knows about us."
He calmly said in something just above a whisper as he slowly moved to cradle you in his arms. You let your shoulders fall. you knew this was ridiculous. Of course he wouldn't. You knew that, but maker that feeling took you by the horns. So you gathered all your courage to ask him the one question you had in the back of your mind.
"Do you see me as a life partner? Like would you marry me if you could?"
If he hadn't been right next to you he wouldn't have heard it. But he did and it made his heart ache how small you sounded. He knew you had insecurities, but never had he heard you sound so unsure. The answer was obvious he thought.
"Of course my darling, It's only you. We're bonded like loth wolves. Nothing or anyone will change that."
You snuggled closer to him at his words but his hand held you softly by the chin to look into his eyes. His eyes held an unspoken question and yours held the answer.

Some wips of a Starchild/Collector life cycle chart I did.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And some details:
1: ???
- I haven't given a name to this stage, but tbh I kinda wanna call this one "Stardust Bunnies" as a cute or affectionate term. This is one that is rarely seen, as they usually only exist at the hearts of stars. They can survive without a star but for much, much shorter time than any other stage could because they don't have a true core even formed yet.
2.1: Adult
-Most common, sometimes referred to as a starborn or starforged. They live inside the hearts of their stars until they're fully developed adults and usually have all the necessary knowledge to survive on their own.
-Adults make up the majority of Collectors and usually run collection missions.
2.2: Child
- Born without a star from converging energy, magic and matter produced by different celestial events or bodies that aren't stars. Considered uncommon though whether it's because they die young before imprinting on a star or are simply just more rare hasn't been confirmed yet.
-Their growth rate is entirely determined by how they mature emotionally or mentally.
-Stage of childhood is determined entirely by the amount of energy and magic that created them. The less there was, the younger they appear. Eventually they become full-fledged adults of their species.
-Usually not involved in collecting, but this varies based on each cluster.
3: Elder
- Adults become Elders through natural aging alongside their stars, but they can also reach this stage sooner by absorbing energy or magic from other stars or Starchildren.
-The Elders are the ones in charge of guiding the younger Starchildren and keeping peace within their cluster's territory. They also tend to manage the cluster's Family Archive.
-Act as a sort of backup if the adults cannot handle a situation. If things look dicey for the adults, the elders will step in as their power tends to be much, much greater.
4.1: Ancients
-Occur from a metamorphosis triggered by the death of their star. If the star creates a new one, they'll usually bond with it, but some find different stars entirely. If they bond with a star far from their cluster, they will simply move the new one to their original star's place to stay in the cluster.
-These are Collectors who basically cheat death. They are a sort of demigod presence among their society.
-Can experience a second metamorphosis if the star dies and creates a black hole.
-The primary caregivers to new and young Starchildren in their cluster. They also function as the guardians of their territories and fend off hostile forces, namely rogue Outsiders.
4.2: Outsiders or World Eaters
-Like Ancients, they come from a metamorphosis triggered by the death of their star. If a star collapses into a black hole, a Collector becomes this.
-They have a near insatiable appetite and will eat anything in their paths, including their own family members or their stars.
-Some keep sane by consuming enough energy to stifle the hunger but it is a constant fight. Other Collectors may share power to prevent their sibling from being lost.
-Ancients are the best defense against a World Eater, but a large enough or clever enough group of Elders can handle them if needed.
5: Fading/Deconstruction
-The true death of a Starchild. When their star dies, the residual energy transfers to their core. But when that energy begins to dwindle, they become cold. Their bodies freeze and slowly break apart into ice and dust. It is a long, long process.

I'm not traditionally a poly shipper (though I've been delving more into it as time goes by), but if there's one that I'm absolutely gaga about, as if in makes my personal top five ships and might even slot in right beneath KyoSaya and SuleMio, it's the one that almost certainly could not and should not happen in canon, but the thought of it still kinda makes me rabid with what could have been.
I am of course talking about AsuReiShin, AKA the Israfel Special.
Evangelion shipping is often a bizarre experience, especially amongst the core trio of pilots. There is just so much material among these incredibly fucked up characters, so many things that ought to be drawing them together, and yet they are all damaged in such specific ways that drive them to behave increasingly toxic, avoidant, or even abusive toward one another. They're all such hot messes of trauma and hangups that, hate to say it, the Rebuild ending of everyone essentially just making peace with one another and fucking off with Shinji hooking up with the controversial new girl that he at least doesn't have any baggage with was probably the healthiest choice, if not the most satisfying.
But even so, the reason I dig this triad specifically is because if you change even just a little bit about each character, you find the same traits that drove them apart suddenly drawing them together, and each individual pairing makes so much sense. Asuka and Shinji is the most obvious, with Asuka's aggressive bullying suddenly becoming proactive encouragement, and Shinji's meek avoidance now becoming the calm, stabilizing force that she needs. With Asuka and Rei it's similar, with Asuka's hatred of Rei's passivity now being being a drive to push Rei to experience and enjoy life and establish an identity, while Rei's gentle observation and lack of a filter would be give Asuka a much-needed source of self-reflection. And with Shinji and Rei, we've already seen how Shinji's kindness has encouraged Rei to step outside of her sheltered world and seek human connection, while also providing Shinji someone he felt was worth stepping up and fighting for.
Now, take all three of those dynamics and combine them together. You've basically got the perfect Id, Ego, and Superego situation. It's practically the adolescent Kirk, Spock, and McCoy dynamic!
Plus, there's also the other factors that would bring them together, even beyond the whole being hormonal teenagers in a stressful situation. Despite having wildly different personalities, they all had their lives destroyed by NERV, from Shinji losing his mother and being neglected by his father, to Asuka's mother losing her mind and taking her life thanks to the Evangelions, to Rei literally being created by Gendo to serve a terrible purpose and thus being robbed of ever having a life. That sort of "in the trenches" experience is exactly the sort of thing that would cause them to form bonds and seek comfort with one another, especially if they were all to learn of each other's past histories, and motivate them to stand up for one another against NERV's machinations, but ah, I'm delving into AU fanfic territory.
Point is, no, I don't think it would be wise for these three to seek out romance with one another, either as couples or all three of them together. But man, if they each just had just a little bit changed about them, can you imagine the pure emotional catharsis?
Note: I didn't really say anything about Kaworu because while I feel that he's probably the healthiest singular choice for Shinji, it's basically only with Shinji, making him his own separate deal entirely.

eyes locked | fred weasley smut
Tumblr media
pairing: fred weasley x fem!reader, (royal!au) warnings: 18+ (nsfw), edging, a bit of voyeurism, royal walking piece of sex appeal fred weasley, son of the earl of idk. just pure filth fuck idk again (pls tell me if i forgot anything) prompts: "sit there, and stay pretty for me, yeah?"
summary: to grow up with the weasley royal family had its pros and cons; and while serving them food with constant burns on hands when the food was to be served too hotly, y/n couldn't find herself to complain - especially when she could see fred weasley every time she does so, the man of her fantasies. consequently enough, she was fred weasley's favourite maiden.
It had been years ever since she had been serving the Weasley family, and it has been years since she had been feeling all sorts of intimacy with the family's older twin, the one being the honourable Fred Weasley.
All stealing glances she throws at him whenever he struts down to the dining hall during breakfast in his loose, cotton, frilled shirt with his hair laying down his forehead haphazardly, she couldn't help but find herself be enthralled. It also didn't help that whenever she helps farmworkers harvest every Saturday of the week with all of the siblings seemingly done with their school work, she gets to see them bond with each other through Quidditch – it didn't help when Fred looked like that. She finds herself in a trance most of the time, and Madame Pince, the family's governess that comes along with the Housekeeper, Madame Pomfrey, had always had to keep an extra eye on her whenever deems so.
Alas, like every other damsel in distress over the fact that they're in love with that of the lords or ladies of the country, whether small or big the kingdom they govern be – the possibility of anything happening is zero to none. So, she stays behind. Eyes flickering every now and then whenever Fred walks by, her senses immediately filled with the scent of orange and burnt wood – much like a cigar with an undertone of cinnamon; a scent she often tried to recreate crumpets whenever she finds herself longing for the lad.
It was an unspoken rule, however, but as she ventured towards the age of exploration and piquing curiosity, she finds herself basking in Fred's aura and appeal; something she didn't expect to kick in earlier in his maturity, foreseen, nonetheless. And while she stares a tad longer than usual, she can't help but realise that Fred is too. However, most times than usual, she dismisses the thought.
And this is the reason why she was biting on her lower lip as she walked the carpeted rugs after Madame Pomfrey descended to the Kitchens as Y/N was helping the house elves in preparing tonight's dinner with Lady Ginny's fiancé, to tell her that the Hon. Fred Weasley had asked for her presence.
"I don't know, Miss Y/N," Madame Pomfrey replies, ushering her up the stairs with such force that only meant urgency. "Just go up to Lord Fred and make it quick!" she calls when Y/N had successfully ascended the stairs. She looked behind her and sighed audibly, nerves conjuring up her system as she tried to rack her reasons as to why Fred specifically asked for her.
"Took you long enough," Fred says after the doors of the Master Bath had opened, revealing to him the only maiden that had captured his eyes even before he knew how to describe the feelings he felt. His eyes glossed over her figure, a bit messy considering she had just come from the kitchens, albeit still very breathtaking.
"I'm sorry, your hi -" Y/N curtsied.
"You're way past that," Fred chuckles, standing with his torso exposed as he stood before three mannequins which wore three breathtaking, intricate pieces. One royal blue, one brown, and one signature Fred Weasley golden yellow.
It took a while, with Y/N just standing there as she waited for Fred's orders as he stood there as well, with his hands holding his chin as he - as Y/N assumed - decided which of the suits was he to wear for the dinner tonight.
"What colours will the linens be tonight?" Fred suddenly asked, whipping his head towards the maiden as he slightly smirked to himself as he had caught her checking him out.
"Oh, uh -" she shook her head, cheeks flushing a deep shade of red as her mind tried to remember what linens Madame Pomfrey had set out on the table. "Blue, sire."
Fred hummed, "Come here,"
Y/N's eyes widened, though subtly. She walked towards Fred with such caution that Fred rolled his eyes and had to hold her wrist and pull her towards him. Y/N gasped with the action, as Fred still held the smug expression he had before.
"Choose for me," he ordered, softly, though still expressed with such command. And while Y/N tried to not give mind to Fred's eyes seemingly stuck on her, she gulped, before replying, "Yellow."
The earl's son's eyebrow rose up, pleased with her choice. Their eyes met, and Y/N's breath hitched when she realised the proximity between them. It was - dare she says, too little.
"Ah," Fred beamed, eyes flickering down to her lips, almost leaning in but as their lips almost touched, he took a step back before clapping his hands for the unchosen clothing to go back to his closet.
Paying no mind to the dumbfounded lady standing in the middle of the marble bathroom, he made his way to the tub, opening the faucet and his hands dipping in to gauge the temperature of the water. He removed his trousers, shaking his head slightly to spare his face from the hair that sprawled his forehead, before taking a step in the tub.
Y/N watched him from the corner of her eyes, too flustered yet still too scared to watch him. Every fibre of her body was begging her to turn around, but she was glad she still had the will to not do so.
But Fred has a different idea in mind.
"Sir," Y/N cleared her throat, her back still facing Fred, her skin balming with sweat as she finds the hairs on her body rising as her throat started to dry up as tension filled the atmosphere.
Fred hummed in acknowledgement.
"Sir, I -"
"I'm afraid it is against courtesy to have your back to me when speaking." Fred cuts her off, index finger coming to play between his lips as his elbow leaned against the curb of the tub.
Y/N gulped before gasping at the sight before her. Hair darker than its usual vibrant orange, chest littered with freckles, and a goddamn tease of the lad's v-line trailed off quite teasingly towards the water as Fred held himself up from the depths of the tub.
"Sir," she repeated after a moment of blankness, "what do you need me for?"
Fred smirked, for the nth time of today. Whipping his wand that sat on the opposite curb of the tub, a chair was summoned miles away, though still directly in his line of vision.
"Sit there," Fred points towards the chair that he had just recently summoned, "and stay pretty for me, yeah?"
And Y/N nodded, though still warily stood there as if she was waiting for clearer instruction. "Well?" Fred asks until realisation dawns on him, "if there were anything else, I would have told you, wouldn't I?"
The maiden's cheeks reddened once more, nodding at the directive before sitting right in front of him. So close, yet so far away, she thought. And she couldn't help but squirm as Fred keeps his eyes locked on her, her underwear dampening at the sight.
Soon enough, her eyes widen as Fred reveals he had taken off his pants. Not too long after, she was squirming as she sees a familiar jolt of his biceps.
Fred Weasley was touching himself.
Fred smirked as he saw her fidget, his hands slipping to his cock starting to harden at the sight before him. His hands wrapped around his shaft, his palm engulfing the skin of his dick in such slow strokes, almost as if he was teasing himself right in front of the lady that had been the star of his naughty dreams recently.
"Eyes on me," he says, teeth coming down to bite on his lower lip, when your eyes met his, he chuckled, "Hi, princess," he winked as Y/N became impossibly redder.
His hands came to squeeze lightly on the base of his shaft, and his thumb running across his slit now oozing with pre-cum, making him jolt every now and then, trying so desperately hard to keep his eyes on Y/N.
"God, what a sight you are, angel," Fred groans, hips bucking up to meet every time his hands descend, his free hand holding on to the flat marble surface of the tub's curb as he tried to chase his release that was far from coming. His eyes glossed over to Y/N, who was obviously rubbing her thighs.
"Princess," he says breathlessly, catching Y/N's attention, "enough of that."
Almost immediately, Y/N halts the movement with her thighs. Instead, she holds on to the edges of her seat as she was certain her lips are almost stripped off flesh by the way she was biting on them so hard.
"Sir," she whispered, and even so quiet, Fred has heard her, and when he sees her struggle against the orders he had given her, he groans, eyes rolling back almost to the back of her spine.
"Fuck, shi - yes, Y/N - fuck - what?" he tries to form a coherent sentence as he feels his body forming his much-needed release, "Shit, princess, looking so bloody beautiful like that - fuck, look what you do to me."
Y/N moaned, her hips discreetly rocking against the chair as she tried to give herself relief from tension, all thoughts of dignity came flying out the window as the desire to touch herself became not a want but a dire need. However, she knew, Fred was against disobedience whenever he gave orders until deemed reasonable.
"Princess - take your clothes off - ah - now, and no touching," he demands, leaning against the marble walls of the tub as the hand that he used for him to lean on the tub came down to squeeze on his balls as he simultaneously jacked off.
Y/N was quick to oblige, hands immediately coming to the dress that she wore atop her brown sleeves, she slipped it down her body, before pulling the brown turtleneck upwards to reveal to Fred the body that he has been imagining each night.
"You're a fucking goddess," Fred groaned, biting down on his lip as he chased his orgasm, eyes flickering towards her as he tried to keep his eyes open. Y/N, now fully nude, blushed at the comment, before sitting back on the chair.
And while she was frustrated up to no extent that she couldn't touch herself, she felt pride surging in as she realises that Fred was doing it in front of her, because of her.
"Sir," she says seductively, "you're so hot."
Fred chuckled amidst his desire to release, "Thank you," he tried to reply as pleasure took over him. And when he finds himself so desperate to release, the buck of hips became much more erratic and aggressive, "Oh, fucking shit - Y/N - gods -" he drawled out a long moan, cutting himself off.
He took one spare glance again at Y/N, before coming on his hand, both of his hands still touching him as he caught his breath. He sighed, "God, fuck," he moaned as he felt his force to keep still on the bathtub deflate as strength almost seemed to be sucked out of him.
Y/N sat there, breath heavy and chest heaving as she was - so bloody turned on.
"Com -"
"Lord Weasley, sire?" a maid knocks on the door, "Lord George Weasley has been asking about you whether you'll be down anytime sooner,"
Fred rolled his eyes, making Y/N laugh. His eyes travelled to Y/N, winking at her as she laughed, making her duck her head as she tried to hide her shyness.
"What time is it?" he mouths over Y/N, eyes widening when he realises it was five minutes before dinner. "I'll be down in three! Tell George to calm the hell out."
As soon as the maiden leaves, he turns to Y/N and makes a face, "Fucking cockblock,"
He steps out of the tub after cleaning himself, putting on his robes before walking towards Y/N to help her wear her clothing back. He made her turn around as he adjusted the fabric of her turtleneck at the back, lips coming down to kiss behind her left ear, "The chambers, after dinner," he whispers, nibbling on her earlobe, "we're not yet finished."
Y/N turns around, meeting his mischievous glare with her interested stare, making Fred smile and kiss her forehead before becoming her to the door.
"You're dismissed," Fred calls out. And as she was about to close the door, she heard Fred say, "for now."

Jason is Slade's sidekick. Dick is Bruce's sidekick. Jason is perpetually ribbing Dick for his morning walks of shame out of Slade's lair apartment. So he's mortified when Dick catches him trying to drop off the second storey balcony after a night with Bruce.
"Oh," the voice above him purrs, dragging out to an obnoxious number of syllables. "This is just rich."
Jason's head whips up, pinpointing where Dick leans against the balcony railing, cutting an impressive figure in the stark moonlight. The wind tugs the hair away from those burning blues eyes, that smug smile out in full force as he leers down at the caught rogue.
Jason clings tightly to the railing bars, and feels his face wash white. "It's not what it looks like."
Dick cradles his cheek in one palm, elbow propped up on the balustrade. "Oh, I'm so ready to hear this. Do tell me why you're sneaking off Bruce's juliette balcony at three in the morning."
For all his careful planning and desperate stalling, Jason hadn't actually taken the time to think up an excuse for why he's clinging to the side of Wayne Manor in the wee hours of the morning. It's the sort of short-sightedness Slade would cuff him over the head for, but if Jason can play his cards right, maybe Slade won't ever need to find out.
"I'm robbing him," Jason blurts out.
"Of what, his virginity?"
Jason's nose scrunches. "Bruce isn't a virgin."
Dick's grin grows monumentally. "Happy to verify that, are you?"
Jason opens his mouth, recognises the trap, and firmly closes it. "I stole his watch." It's partially true.
Dick hums in disagreement. "A thief like you had to climb all the way into Bruce Wayne's bedroom to steal a wristwatch? The calibre of pickpockets just ain't what it used to be."
He levels a glare at the older boy, abruptly defensive. "You're one to talk. How many times have I caught you slinking out of Slade's apartment?"
"And you've tormented me each and every time," Dick acknowledges. "So I'm sure you can understand why I plan on milking this opportunity to expose your hypocrisy."
"Or," Jason bargains, forlornly hopeful, "you could bond with me over this shared embarassment."
Dick pauses to consider, but Jason doesn't buy the act for a minute. "No, I think I'm going to enjoy threatening you first."
Jason winces, knuckles tight on the metal bars. "Please don't tell Slade."
"You're supposed to say that after I threaten to tell him."
"I didn't squeal to Bruce," Jason points out with the flash of a glare in Dick's direction. "Don't snitch on me."
"Who said anything about snitching? I think you and I can build a beautifully mutually beneficial relationship out of this."
Jason's, "Go on," is hesitant.
"Harder for both our mentors to catch either of us if they're both occupied," Dick proposes, waggling his brows for emphasis. "So how about, I text you when I want you out of the apartment. And you text me when you want me out of the manor. And we both learn to read between the lines, hm?"
"You want me to booty call you," Jason deadpans.
Dick snorts, and manages to look aggravatingly good-looking doing it. "Of a sort, yes."
Jason doesn't trust Robin as far as he can throw him, and he supposes the feeling is more or less mutual. This isn't a relationship built on trust, and the convenience will only last as long as neither of them get caught.
But those are better odds than what Jason's playing with right now.
"Give me your phone," Jason bites out, and Dick fishes into the back pocket of his jeans for his cell, promptly handing it over.
Jason tucks in close to the railing with one arm, manoeuvring until he can punch his number into Dick's contact list under Ravager.
"If you text me for any other reason," Jason warns, handing back the phone, "this deal is over. I'm not your friend, Robin."
Dick gives him a two finger salute, and then offers his open hand.
Jason doesn't take it. "What's that for?"
"I'm giving you a hand back up," Dick purrs. "I'm heading out, so you need to get in there. If you catch my drift."
"Oh my god," Jason sneers. "I hate you."
But he takes the proffered hand and lets Dick haul him up onto the balcony, watching the vigilante hook a leg over the railing he's just scaled.
"I'll be back around six. Keep him occupied for me. I'll owe you one," he says with a wink, and throws himself into the night.
Jason thinks this is the beginning of a terrible relationship.

Lostbelt Servants Often Don't Work as Chaldea Servants
I've reached a conclusion on why I dislike servant x Ritsuka pairings so much, and ended up spending a few hours thinking about some other thoughts.
When it comes to the gacha game format, you don't have enough time to develop every character equally, and certainly not the way fgo goes about it (Oh boy another lb6 centered event? You really shouldn't have Nasu...). As a result, oftentimes servants only ever get interludes (and sometimes events, but even those are shaky) to develop their bond with Ritsuka, and this is even worse for lostbelt/singularity villains, because they have to shed an entire dynamic and replace it with a new one. Sometimes this can work fine, or even improve the character, such as with characters like Cu Alter, Hessian Lobo, Jeanne Alter, Jason, and even arguably Avicebron, but oftentimes they can sort of... flounder.
Cu and Jeanne Alter succeeded because fundamentally there was that initial gap that comes from an enemy, not only because they were a villain but because we simply haven't developed a bond yet. So they showed us it, they showed Cu Alter learning to trust and rely on us in his interludes, we saw Jeanne do the same across multiple events. They didn't just abandon their old identity they had to built a new one off the corpses strewn by their old one.
Characters like Anastasia... don't get that, they get a facsimile of a bond developed because they don't want to restart from the very beginning of the relationship pole or be obligated to use all of their lostbelt characteristics.
So rather than showing Ritsuka and Anastasia growing a close bond and her developing a crush on him, we get one dream sequence where Anastasia confided in him that she kind of hates the people who killed her parents. Then it's just... "oh my master is utterly adorable" from her and then "Why don't you kiss her, master?" from Medea
Tumblr media
None of this was earned or developed, at best it was implied because other people say similar stuff about Ritsuka, but notably, none of those scenes include Anastasia. They're writing this interlude like it's an alternate timeline where Anastasia was a main servant who watched you grow and develop similar to Mash (Thanks to @300iqprower for making me realize this). There is no unique relationship, there's no event where they were forced together, we just have to assume that at some point Anatasia and Ritsuka hungout a bunch and she got a crush on him.
It feels more like a filled in template for a servant-master relationship than anything actually developing. Why does Anastasia like Ritsuka? Because he's nice, trustworthy, and strong. Great, the same applies to Mash, Ushiwakamaru, Melusine and so so many other servants. There is nothing to me that says she would love Ritsuka for any reason unique to Anastasia, in the same way I can look at her and Kadoc and see why they love each other in the crypter manga. There's no Ritsuka discussing how he can relate to having his opportunity to grow into an adult ruined, there's no Ritsuka having to fight by her side for an extended period of time, there's no Ritsuka helping her come to terms with her family's death, it's just... nothing. It's Anastasia having a crush on Ritsuka because it's Ritsuka.
And like... we have to see this this with so many servants. As much as I love Barghest and find Melusine interesting, to a massive degree they were made worse after lb6. The desire to protect Fae Britain and Aurora respectively was an intrinsic part of their character, and when none of those exist, there's just a big hole in their motivations and relationships. But rather than write elaborate depictions of what changes in their personality there is, Melusine decides that Ritsuka is their lover and Barghest does... cooking? And also wants to fuck Master sometimes.
Worse than remaining stagnant a lot of lostbelt characters actively plateau. Stuck in a hell where all their characterization is dependent on the unique setting of a lostbelt, but also being physically unable to do anything with that setting because then they have to deal with the baggage associated with it.
This is to the point where the only characters who become better or remain well written after their lostbelts are overwhelming the ones who completely sideset this issue. Yu Mei-Ren and Qin? Popped into throne of spirits. Percival, Habetrot, Aesclepius, and Gareth? Literally completely different characters. William Tell, and Odysseus? Lostbelt fuckery. So they develop a new character from scratch and are forced to deal with that.
But a lot of servants don't get that. We know Melusine's past and generic character traits, the game implies (doesn't show) how they grow to like Ritsuka, so we don't get to see any more of that develop. Rather we get to see whatever they decide they would fit best for the present, which typically is uninteresting and repeated.

Okay so like. They speed ran through all options in the love square in season 5 only to end on Adrinette. There’s 3 seasons left at minimum. How are they going to make the audience invested in this bland high school romance? Are going to cycle through the options of the love square again? I genuinely have no idea how they can possibly make me root for this couple after the finale of season 5
I honestly don't have any idea. And you're so right about the bland high school romance thing. Like, it's cute and all, but Adrienette has fuck all to do with anyone's character arc and absolutely nothing to do with the overall plot. Ladynoir was the side of the square which had all this going for it, and they took it out back and shot it in the face. You can literally see how inconsequential Adrienette is for the conflict, because they had to contrive all sorts of ridiculous plot points like retconned in trauma and Gabe's sudden obsession with shipping Adrigami in order to give it any sort of story weight, and it just felt so forced to me. Adrienette has nothing.
Like yeah, they're the same person, sure. But by virtue of the writing and how their relationships with each other are portrayed, Ladynoir is the dynamic that will enable character development and story progression for both Adrien and Marinette. Marinette's greatest struggle is now that she's lost the Miraculous and is carrying a heavy burden of being the Guardian. Who is the one who can help her with this? It's Chat Noir. Not Adrien Agreste, the guy who should have no fucking clue about any of this. Adrien is stuck with an abusive father who is also a supervillain. Who can help him? It's Ladybug. Not Marinette the high schooler.
Ladynoir have been supported each other from day 1. They've been through it all, they've seen each other at their lowest and they've trusted each other with their lives. They have a secret that they can't tell anyone else in the world and have a struggle that only they can understand (until Season 4 made Alya Marinette's greatest confidant and started killing Ladynoir, but we don't talk about that).
On the flip side Adrienette... is there. Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike it. But it has no story weight the way Ladynoir does, and the biggest conflict in Adrienette is that Marinette can't talk to Adrien. There's no development here. Adrien legit has nothing going on in this dynamic, he's just there. Adrienette is one-sided in who needs development. The dynamic is one-sided for most of the show, and only Marinette really needs to undergo a change because Adrien already knows and appreciates her for who she is. And that's not a bad thing, but making that the main canon ship lets the writers flake out on writing meaningful character development. Marinette didn't have to learn squat. Adrien did all the work, and apparently, he learned to take accountability for Marinette's inability to speak to him. And tell me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that a ship that I like becoming canon and the characters confessing that they love each other a la the fanfics I ravenously consumed over the years should make me go "no you fucking don't!"
And I was a LS shipper. I wanted Adrienette to get together. But not a pre-reveal, bland and ultimately inconsequential Adrienette who have nothing to do with anything. Why did they even become canon? What purpose did it serve in the story? Nothing! They had to manufacture these ridiculous conflicts like Marinette's trauma because Adrienette had fuck all to do with anything.
And it didn't have to be like this, because Adrienette actually had one storyline with minimal story weight that could have had it be important too. The Lila plot. That was a thing. Ladybug and Chat Noir fighting Monarch while their civilian selves fight another threat together? A threat that is in cahoots with their supervillain? Adrienette could have had story weight. They could have bonded over this; they could have developed. But instead, the writers chose to give Adrien's place at Marinette's side in the fight against Lila to, wait for it, Sabrina. Yes, Sabrina. The fuck??
Adrienette has no story weight or interesting conflict. They literally had to contrive some enmity between Gabe and Marinette so that Adrienette could have any kind of relevance by making Gabe an Adrigami shipper outta nowhere. Adrien doesn't need to grow by virtue of Adrienette, yet he's somehow the one who does. Marinette does have to grow, and instead, she gets her trophy handed to her without doing any work. And they killed Ladynoir for this. Now Ladynoir are just work buddies who don't care if they never see each other again so long as they can get with their high school crush. They only talk about their new GF/BF and the "rest of the team." Done is the Ladynoir conflict, done is the yin-yang symbolism, gone is the "it's us against the world." They killed Ladynoir for some shoddily developed generic romance.
And if they had to contrive conflict in the very season that had Adrienette become canon, what hope does it have of being interesting for three more? Ladynoir is dead, if Adrien and Marinette reveal their identities, it's not going to fucking matter because they're already together and Ladynoir don't even care about each other anymore. And they're already dating, so they aren't going to look at any other boy/girl again, and I genuinely have no idea how they're going to develop the Love Square any more. You can bet your ass that they aren't going to deal with the parallels Marinette now has to her boyfriend's abuser, so Adrienette has legit no ground to stand on and nothing of value to contribute. It's just a drag at this point. Whatever.
Thank you for your ask!

can you explain bonding a bit more please? like are the bonding different between the alpha and beta bs alpha and omega. since betas don’t have heats for the bonds go as “deep” as they would between alpha and omega??? love your writing btw 💕
Sure!!!! I can do that!!
I just want to say first off that bonding is different than claiming so keep that in mind 👀
So, bonding is something that just kind of happens. It's not something you can force (despite people trying) and it's something that can happen quickly or it might take a lot of time. It plays an important role in pack dynamics and pack formation. Everyone bonds differently, and the closest thing I could compare it to is like how any relationships form. After time you start to develop meaning and feelings platonic or romantic towards the people in your life.
It runs a little bit deeper in the fic's universe since there's those instincts that come into play. The brain chemistry changes and their instincts begin to recognize this other person as important and safe and part of the pack. Bonded members of packs will feel a deeper need to protect those they've bonded with, and they have a deeper connection with each other that kind of transcends understanding. Bonded pack members have an easier time picking up on each other's emotions and have an easier time calming other bonded members.
I'd say the bonds are pretty even in how they form between alphas, betas, and omegas. I think out of the three, omegas are the most affected by bonds, and they feel them the strongest. If someone were to leave the pack or if something happened in the pack, they're going to be the most deeply affected. Omegas are just naturally affectionate and caring, so they bond easily, and its hard to break those bonds (hence why institutes really discourage and do everything they can to prevent bonds between omegas).
Alphas and betas feel bonds pretty evenly, alphas more in a "protect the pack" kind of way, and betas more in the caretaker kind of way. As far as the bonds between alpha and beta, alpha and omega, and everything in between, they aren't all that different. Obviously, the instincts recognize the difference between them and the difference in needs. Omegas might need more emotional fulfillment and support, where alphas might need more physical affection and support, and betas need proof of pack contentment and harmony.
Bonds are one of those things that kind of transcends understanding, even in the universe where the fic exists. It's something that just exists and happens, and no one really can explain it fully. People can form bonds outside of packs, though they're not usually as strong as those within packs. I would say the reader and Dr. Keller have a bond between them forming as doctor and patient. Its not uncommon for those sorts of bonds to form with omega specialists since they act not only as a sort of physician for omegas but also as a therapist. Sort of an all-around expert doctor that is trained in many areas so they can best help and support omegas. There's trust there that has to be built and in that a bond can form. Close friends will form platonic bonds, and those can form in packs too, especially in really large packs.
Think of it as just a really close friendship. Pretty much every bond kind of feels that way, even if those in that bond do move beyond friendship and develop more romantic and sexual relationships. That sort of deep connection won't change or leave because of that.
Hope that makes sense.

What did you think about Peeta and Gale’s conversation in chapter 23 of Mockingjay? I don’t think Peeta was in the right state of mind yet to wonder who Katniss would choose in the end, so I remember being really surprised that he would even partake in a conversation like this one. To be fair, Peeta wasn’t the one who brought it up. He just stated that he thought Katniss loved Gale and that she pretty much confirmed it to him after his whipping, but it was Gale who mentioned that it was Katniss’ problem who to choose to which Peeta agrees and then wonders how she will make up her mind. Do you think it was out of place? Or what was the real purpose of this exchange between them in your opinion? Thank you 😊
So, I think this conversation is hugely important to the love-triangle-as-two-sides-of-just-war-theory angle in the series. Of course on the surface there's still talk about kissing and proving love, but there's still a few interesting lines. One is:
It's so strange to hear them talking like this. Almost like friends. Which they're not. Never have been. Although they're not exactly enemies.
Which is interesting. It's not odd for two competing men in a love triangle to be nasty to each other, but Katniss says their dynamic is more similar to friends than enemies. And that they aren't enemies, although they're both in love with Katniss. Which is interesting from the two sides they represent. Because both are fighting on the same side, to take down the Capitol and end the districts' oppression. So they aren't enemies, but their tactics are different. Peeta is diplomacy and persuasion. Gale is war and force.
While the two love interests are posed as Katniss's potential worldviews, I can't help but think that Katniss, then, represents Panem. She is the symbol people look to, the random girl who, yes, has some things that make her stand out, but never wanted glory, only safety for those she loved. Her want is what the people want. So what will Katniss/the people choose?
Gale's response: "whoever she thinks she can't survive without."
We don't get the answer until the end of MJ that it's Peeta she can't survived without, that "What I need is the dandelion in the spring." This scene between Peeta and Gale poses that question and Katniss ends up responding to it, even if it pisses her off at the time.
I think this is the reason why Suzanne included it, and why it adds to the themes and the love triangle as a literary device. Now as for how it fits in, I won't say that it doesn't at times stick out to me as a bit strange. However, I think that Suzanne put it in just the right place to make it the most natural.
Peeta has been uncovering what's real and not real for several chapters now, starting with mundane things. Gale helps him remember District 12 and they've been fighting alongside each other, including Gale promising to kill Peeta if necessary. I think that's set up a sort of bonding where they can now look at each other beyond "other dude into the girl I'm in love with." And we know Peeta has had an anger or jealousy toward Katniss that Gale recognizes as his own jealousy, but without the ability to recognize the nuances of the situation. He's riled her up about their kissing, the love triangle, their nights on the train, flirting with Annie. So their romance/showmance is on his mind. But things have started to become a bit more real as he figures out how to identify no-real memories (shiny) and real memories start to surface, like what Katniss's favorite color is and the fact that Katniss got him medicine for his leg. And of course, this is also after the big "stay with me"/"always" scene.
All of that to say, between Gale appearing more like a friend during the war and the dynamic between Katniss and Peeta returning more to how it was before, Peeta has questions. The first one starts off tame enough, more of a prodding than a question: "That was funny, what Tigris said. About no one knowing what to do with her." And it builds from there. Peeta returning to his assertion that Katniss was in love with Gale, and Gale voicing his doubts because of the beach kiss. Gale is the one who first brings up Katniss having to choose, which at this point, he doubts will be a problem (oh character who is unaware of their plot armor). I think this was sort of Gale's, "well, we got bigger shit to deal with than our love lives, since it's not even going to be an issue" type of statement. But Peeta is the one stuck on the choosing. Perhaps because he hasn't been chosen before, perhaps because he wants it to be real and not a "well Gale died so you're it," perhaps because he often sees more positives and has hope they'll all make it out. It might be a bit of a stretch normally, but a hijacked Peeta who's asking questions when he's confused, I can believe him wondering how she'll choose, even if it sounds out of place. In any other context it would, but I think Suzanne sets it up to fit with the characters in that moment.

Cass & Jason fic recs
Some of the best fan-created works featuring heated squabbles and/or unlikely family bonding between Cassandra Cain and Jason Todd.
"the patron saint of the lost causes" by evanescent - Grabbing Jason’s wrist just right and putting a necessary amount of pressure on it, Cassandra says, “You’re good. I’m better.” And that’s how she ends up pinning her brother down behind a dumpster. So much for making a good first impression. // Pre-Flashpoint AU based on canon what-if Lady Shiva was not only Cassandra's biological mother, but Jason's, too. ["One Year Later" fix-it for Cass and Jason.]
"the sound, the silence" by evanescent - Cass and her brothers. Character study, relationship study.
"Movie Magic" by Telperien - Jason is an utter bitch, and Cass hates his guts. That's it, there's no fluff, their relationship doesn't improve. But they do team up, because they're family.
"Sister's Blues" by ShariDeschain - Cass decides she is Jason's self-appointed protector and big sister, and she isn't taking no for an answer.
"got her guns out" by marquis - Cass spars with all her siblings. It's nice! Mostly. Except for the rampant cheating.
"Neighbours" by Aingeal98 - Bruce and Shiva are rival PTA parents, Cass seeks to become the world's greatest crime-fighting hero while rising to the challenges of junior high school, and Jason is her adorable little civilian friend. Unexpectedly, some of the best Shiva writing I've had the pleasure to randomly encounter. Work in progress.
"The Priority" by CastleGachi - Cass is self-sacrificing to a fault; also she wants a milkshake. Some Cass whump.
Red Blood, Blue Blood by Telperien - Jason and his mother discover his biological father is Bruce Wayne, who has three other biological children. Cass (age 10) was raised from birth by Bruce, but she still keeps her unhinged determination to put 100% effort into all that she does—from solving the mystery of Bruce's secret nightlife, to seizing the title of Jason's favorite sibling. Work in progress, contains some Tim-bashing on the side.
"Someone That Hates To See Me Go" by AutumnHobbit - Jason bonds with his family. Cass crashes at Jay's place after her foot is dislocated in the field, and she eats his food.
Tumblr media
youtube
🦇 "Within These Toxic Waters" by Gray_Skies_Rising - Cassandra and Jason are both too alike and too different in all the places where it matters. Enemies to frenemies/siblings, dark!Batfamily AU, Cass and Jason both deal with Lazarus Pit side effects.
🦇 "that's the thing about anger (it begs to stick around)" by nashequilibrium - On one hot August night, months after the death of Stephanie Brown, Cassandra Cain has one goal; nobody in Gotham City dies tonight. Her resurrected asshole brother has things to say to her about that. Cass and Jason play shoulder angel and shoulder devil. No fluff or healing to make things better, they hate each other and today they're even worse. <3

Hey it's the guy from that other rant about how Nemona, Arven, and Penny are getting ignored for no reason by DLC advertising in a game that's supposed to be about forming treasured unbreakable bonds with well-written sad kids who desperately needed friends and are presented as sort of Strength, Courage and Wisdom Trio by the ending, back with a new post now that one of the DLCs is out and haha I bet you know what I have to say don't you
What was the point of excluding Nemona, Arven, and Penny from The Teal Mask if there are three unnamed and generic-modeled but consistently written student NPCs present anyway, and the content is level 60-75, so you're clearly not intended to do it without finishing the game*? Not only do they not see you off or gain any new dialogue when you get home, they aren't mentioned or alluded to in any way shape or form. They're still statues standing in their rooms with one line of dialogue, the one thing I wanted DLC and updates to change the most. They never notice you left the country for a week.
* UPDATE: Apparently the DLC has level scaling even though the base game didn't, and it is accessible with 0 badges, and that is why there are no references to the preexisting story - it might not have happened yet. Fascinating. I guess that part holds less weight then and this whole post is a little less necessary. I'll leave the rest of the post unedited but it really did seem like this was designed as postgame content only regardless of when it becomes available. Guess not! So I guess, instead, the story got shot in the foot a little bit by the decision to make it available to new players instead of for no reason. I think they should have let it be postgame content, but, I'm a little less worried now. This makes sense within those rules. I guess.
Fanart like this is now coming out and getting tons of likes asking why this happened after six months of countless pieces of cute fanart like this all turned out to be for nothing.
As people are already realizing, it would have been really fun and logical for two of the three who don't really get along with each other yet (which is any combination of them, really, that's part of the fun, and part of why their stories should continue) to be forced to team up into an odd couple, while the third gets to know Carmine and perhaps build a rivalry with her. Wouldn't it be fun to see them talking about their own adventures they were going on, and how they were starting to get along, even if it was happening offscreen? (Because this DLC is focused on introducing new characters to set up for later and that's fine) Wouldn't it be smart to set up the group dynamic for Indigo Disc in advance as preparation for a return to Area Zero and that whole professor-haunted main plotline with a larger cast?
It's just giving me even more apparently-not-unfounded paranoia that yeah, we've never been shown the friend trio in new footage in a DLC trailer because not just Penny but somehow even Arven and Nemona are going to be completely irrelevant to a DLC about finding closure on Area Zero's story and going to a school all about top-level battling. Why else would they go this far out of their way to avoid including them as characters? This is like... active sabotage of their own story at this point.
... Could they really just not be bothered to model three characters in jinbei, and repeatedly shot in the foot their best story yet and all the setup they did for continuing it... over that? That'd be stupid, right? Unfortunately, I don't have the confidence in the company to put anything past them right now.
I just don't know how The Indigo Disc is going to carry the weight of everything they've set up expectations for it to do, unless it's like three times bigger than this little teaser of a DLC in terms of actual story and postgame battles, and most importantly to me, the postgame hanging-out that they very suspiciously also won't show the original friend trio for that we were promised by the story almost a year ago as a happy ending, that we haven't actually gotten to participate in on-screen at all, outside of the Ace Academy Tournament (whose music is perfect for that happy victory lap feeling by the way).
I'm afraid now more than ever that all of my happy thoughts about how this generation and these precious characters should be wrapped up and what should be in The Indigo Disc aren't going to happen, and... it'll just go unceremoniously into the trash can with the other generations after a few more months of trailers probably making it clear that despite all the sappy memories with your original group and the girl who calls the player character her treasure and her rival for life, the game is about Carmine and Kieran now instead of them joining the group, and it will be remembered as the half assed cash grab game and not the one with a big heart and deep character writing hidden in it, if they care THIS aggressively, out-of-their-way little about the reason the game has heart. Not that I don't like these new newcomers too, but. There was a different way to go about this.
Pokemon Masters and Pokemon Special and stuff will try their best to compensate and do the characters justice, but they're just fanfic writers like us except with a budget. The anime writers are forced to make the story about other characters, as if Nemona, Arven, and Penny's stories were something shameful or inappropriate they need to paint over, and not the saving grace for what was otherwise an embarrassing corporate product with good people stuck working on it.
It would have been so easy to integrate the three of them into this DLC, and it would've made the next DLC better to have done so. Literally just replace some character models and rewrite some dialogue. The Paldea students don't have festival outfits anyway afaik. We're talking romhack-level difficulty of implementation here. Come the hell on.
Between the contents of this first part of the DLC and how they've been advertising it so far, I cannot make myself believe Nemona, Arven, and Penny will be in the rest of generation 9. I don't want to get hurt by my expectations. I feel like they've been purposefully excluded, like TPC thinks there's something wrong with them.
... Anyone else feeling this?
