It was a week to Halloween and still, you and Steve just couldn't decide on your costumes.
Every idea you threw at him, he hated, and every idea he tossed your way just wasn't good enough in your eyes. It was your first costume party as a married couple after all, and you were determined to make it the most memorable one yet.
Steve continued holding out random pieces of clothing from your closet, spewing out random ideas that each article reminded him of. "What about the Smurfs?" he asked, holding up one of your white sweaters.
You simply cocked an eyebrow at him, as if to reply, Seriously?
"Okay, maybe that one is a bad idea," he grumbled as he placed it back in the closet. Steve swiped through a few more items, landing again on a skirt this time. "Ooh, what about Ken and Barbie?"
Your head shook in disapproval. "Everyone always goes as Ken and Barbie. Besides, you'd look very silly with blond hair." You giggled at the thought of his gorgeous tufts painted blond for a night.
He grumbled again, under his breath this time, hanging up the umpteenth article of clothing. He sifted through a couple more hangers, getting inevitably closer to the back of your wardrobe. However, you didn't realize just how far back into your wardrobe he'd gone until he held up the next item.
"A-ha," he said, a teasing tone in the word. "You don't suppose you have a box of thin mints lying around, do you?"
A strange sense of nostalgia came over you as he lifted the old Girl Scouts uniform, the familiar shade of green bringing back a whole wave of memories. "I forgot I even had this!" you exclaimed, taking it from him. "I wonder if it still fits."
Steve couldn't help the chuckle that escaped him. "Curious minds think alike."
Your raised brow from earlier returned, a look of sarcasm taking over all your features.
"Hey, you know what? I think my Boy Scouts uniform is the storage closet. Why don't we try these bad boys on and see if they could work for our costumes this year?"
You snickered, holding the ensemble up in front of you. "I doubt this fits suitably enough to be seen by the general public, but hey, you'll never know if you don't try."
And with that, he was heading down the hall for his own uniform, leaving you to squeeze into the fabric you hadn't touched since you were about fourteen.
You must've hit a growth spurt, you reckoned, because looking yourself over in the mirror, you realized that the outfit did its worst to decently cover you up. The skirt that used to hit just above your knees now barely covered your ass and the button-up that previously hid what little curves you had in middle school now had your tits all but spilling out of it.
"Damn, give a guy a warning next time," Steve chuckled behind you from the doorway.
You turned to face him, met with the sight of his uniform fitting just right. Sure, his shorts were tighter around his thighs than they would've been a few years ago, and the socks were closer to crew length than knee length. But for the most part, he looked okay. It was you who was left looking like a badge-covered slut. "How come you look normal?"
"You forget that Beverly kept me in that shit until they practically kicked me out," he chuckled, walking closer to you. "Enough about me and my mom. We should be talking about you." His lips inched closer to your ear, hot breath fanning around you. "How goddamn pretty you look in that skirt."
The words sent a shiver up your spine, despite how many times Steve reminded you that you were the prettiest girl on the planet. Still, you found a way to joke, "Are you sure that's appropriate talk for a Scout?"
He snickered, the sound warming you from the inside out. "You would've hated to have known me in my Scouts days," he laughed. Steve's hands moved to grip your waist, pulling you flush against him. His growing erection was evident as your bodies met, nearly bringing a blush to your cheeks. "God, I bet you had the best cookies in your whole troop."
"No, but…" the word lingered as one of your hands inched between your bodies. His mouth fell open in some mix of shock and pleasure as you grabbed his cock through the shorts, a teasing smile on your lips. "I was the first to get my camping badge because of how fast I could pitch a tent."
Steve leaned forward, leaving a ghost of a kiss where your shoulder and neck met, eliciting a desperate breath from you. "Why don't you show me then, princess?"
In an instant, your lips were on his, both of you fighting with the buttons of his shirt. You finally finished with his buttons as his knees hit the bed, prompting him to sit as you ripped the material off of him.
"By the way," he said in between kisses, "I don't want you to remove anything except those pretty panties of yours."
"Just between us," you started, moving away from him. You bent down in front of him, showing off your bare ass, before turning back to face him and pulling up your skirt. Sliding a hand down the front of your body, you slipped a finger between your folds, teasing both yourself and Steve. "I wasn't wearing any panties," you finished your statement from before, your finger dipping inside your aching hole.
Steve's hand jutted out to grab your wrist, stopping your ministrations. "Hey, no one gets badges without teamwork," he reminded you, pulling you back toward him.
His lips were back on you, trailing open-mouthed kisses down the expanse of your neck while you worked at the fastening of his shorts. He lifted his hips just long enough to help you shove his shorts and underwear off, the fabric hitting the floor with a soft noise that was barely heard over your heavy breaths.
Whines and moans floated out of your mouth and into Steve's as he lifted you onto the bed with him. One of his hands moved between your bodies, wrapping it around his cock and sliding the tip through your folds.
"Steve," you sighed, winding your hips against him, "please."
"Please what?" he asked, his dick still barely touching you, "I need to hear the words, princess."
"Need your cock, please," you practically begged, hips rutting once again.
Without another word, he was slipping inside your dripping core, already throbbing inside you. He let out a string of expletives as you slowly rocked up and down, beginning to create that perfect pace you both loved so much.
Desperate moans filled the air as you started to ride him, his hands roaming every inch of you. "God, you look so fucking pretty right now," he said, eyes raking up and down your form.
"You're not so bad yourself, camper," you managed to laugh. The sentence was cut off by a needy mewl as his cock hit that sweet spot inside you, your veins burning with pleasure as he hit it again.
Absolutely filthy noises filled the air of the bedroom as your bodies rocked together. The smell of sweat and sex was prominent, skin slapping against skin as you both searched for any form of reprieve.
A hand slipped under the material of your fanned-out skirt, the pad of his thumb quickly finding your clit. "Fuck, you feel so good," he groaned, pistoning his hips hard enough to have you thinking about the bruises he was most likely leaving.
Your walls clenched around him, pulling him impossibly further into you, the stretch of him a feeling you couldn't get enough of. Steve's opposite hand gripped the supple skin of your hip, guiding you in the rhythm he craved.
Lips were on lips as you both searched for release, your hands gripping his shoulders as yours inched closer. Crescent moon shapes were surely being left in your wake, holding on to Steve for dear life as your climax approached.
"Is now a- oh, fuck, princess- a bad time to make a milk and cookies joke?" The words came out as grunts as you bounced up and down on him, pre-cum surely coating your walls.
Somehow, you giggled through your own string of expletives as you sought out your high, his balls slapping you with every movement. He twitched inside you, and the movement had you on the brink of cumming. "Steve, I'm gonna- oh."
The digit between your legs teased and rubbed your clit at the perfect speed, and it was just enough to send you over the edge. His name was falling from your tongue like a prayer, reminding him of just who made you feel that good.
A few more pumps of his hips and his seed was spilling inside you, both of you desperate and whiny as you rode out your highs. His fingers held tight to your waist as he helped you slow your erratic rhythm, purple spots surely forming under his fingertips.
Hot breaths fanned across his chest as you fell limp on top of him, deep breaths filling your ears as he came down from his wave of euphoria. A soft kiss met your sweat-sticky hair, his previous grip on you being replaced by the gentle touch of his fingertips grazing nonsensical shapes down your spine.
You were the first to break the silence, the words coming out puffy. "Well, Stevie, you have made me a very happy camper."
He chuckled, slapping your ass with what little strength he had left. "Well, in case I haven't made it clear, you aren't wearing this to the party."
Your mouth flew open in fake surprise. "No! Everyone deserves to see us in these outfits."
"The only tent I want you pitching is mine," he all but demanded, pulling you up for a long kiss, lips still swollen from your previous activities.
"As long as you promise not to buy any other girl's cookies," you smirked.
He snickered, your heart flipping at the sound. "I think I'll take you up on that offer, princess."

The Bangtan Gal Chapter 3- Rookie King Episode 1
Tumblr media
Chapter Summary: Jen hopes that luck is on her side so she doesn't get a skull card and endure punishment for the first episode of Rookie King. Jen assists Jungkook after his spicy punishment. Suga gets his revenge on Jen after what she did to him in one of the punishments.
Words: 4,000+
------
'Bulletproof Boy Scouts & Girl Scout'
'The broadcast will start shortly'
'Screen under adjustments'
The show opens up with Jin sitting at a table, looking like a news broadcaster.
"Hello, I'm VJ Bangtan Commando's MC Jin! In the year 2013, BTS who's hit the idol industry like a comet with their likable looks and overpowering charisma, they've received a lot of love. The things that have not been revealed till now, the 8 members' private dorm life and Bangtan's
Flavor House. Also the activities in the practice studio. We the VJ Bangtan Commandos have it all covered. Let's take a look together!" He smiled
As the show continues, they reveal the inside of BTS' dorm as the members are still asleep.
'2013 Music industry, BTS is here to take over! The name that you won't forget after the first hearing, BTS! Today we're going into their daily lives. The members who are flustered at the camera's intrusion! Inevitably their sleepyselves and even bare faces are all revealed. The practice studio overwhelmed with manly scents along with Jennie's perfume and up till a fansign session's venue! Bangtan's 24-hour daily life, follow me'
'We're finally here, this is none other than BTS' home sweet home!'
The camera pans down to the shoes of the boys of BTS.
'It cannot be unseen the smell from men's passion! We wonder how Miss Bangtan deals with the smell'
The cameras head into the dining room where they see Jennie in a pair of yellow baby duck pajamas, eating some eggs for breakfast. Barefaced with a little bit of acne and her hair in a messy bun, she was wide awake, playing a game on her phone. She was oblivious to the camera crew walking in as she had her headphones in, listening to music.
A few moments later she senses movement from the corner of her eye and looks up, to see the camera crew and the manager.
"Whoa!" She dropped her phone on her eggs and fell out of her seat.
She's left with chuckles as the manager helps her up. "Thank you. What in the world is going on? Darn it, my phone." She took her phone off her eggs as the manager explained why the camera crew was there.
"O-oh." She replied with her face heating up from embarrassment. She turned to the camera and waved. "Hi! Yeah, I totally need to get used to this. Hey, how ya doing guys?"
She bowed. "I'm Bangtan member Jennie. The first African-American female in a boy K-Pop group. It's really humbling. Oh, and I'm way cooler than the rest of them just to let you know. Me falling was my awesome entrance. I have my own room. Smaller than the others, but it's perfectly fine. The rest of the guys gotta share. It's pretty nice to just have girl time by myse-"
She's cut off as she suddenly trips over pairs of shoes in the hallway.
"UN-believable!" She exclaimed and started cleaning up their shoes. "Being in a household with seven guys...I'll never get used to it."
"Do you usually wake up early?" The camera crew asked her.
"Yep! I love mornings. I'm a morning person."
'While Miss Bangtan tries to calm herself down and get ready for the day, we continue to look at the identifiable ornaments to possessions of teen boys laid all around. Taking a look at their basic necessities. All the chicken breast meat kept neatly in the fridge! Ah Hyung's crying...crying!!'
As the camera crew heads into BTS' bedroom, Jennie finishes eating and continues getting ready for the day. She heads into the closet to see Tae putting on his shirt backward.
'Excuse me Tae Teacher, you've worn your shirt inside out'
"Dude, your shirt is backward." She laughed. Tae grinned cheekily as she fixed his shirt.
'Jennie to the rescue!'
After BTS and Jennie finish getting ready, they head out for the day.
'Wherever they are Bangtan's contagious happiness, they all look excited'
The group happily stepped into their favorite restaurant and sat down at the table.
"You sure you're not full? I can eat your food for you!" Jungkook offered with a grin, hoping she'd say yes.
"Ha! Ha! Ha! Nope! You're not taking my food like you did last time!" She accused
"Wha? I did no such thing!" He tried to look innocent, playing off a confused facial expression.
"Jungkook took all her food when she went to the bathroom," J-Hope explained to the camera.
"Jimin helped me!" Jungkook admitted.
"I did not!" Jimin stammered
"Ha! You just ratted yourself out!" Jennie pointed at him. "So it WAS you." She crossed her arms and shook her head.
After they get settled down, Rapmon is asked why they come to this particular restaurant. "We've been coming here to eat ever since we were trainees and also since the basement floor is our practice studio. So while going to the practice studio when we have to eat, the aunt here takes such good care of us. Even during our breaks at least 2 of our meals in a day would be eaten here."
"Her cooking reminds me of being home with my mom. It's so good! As soon as I came to Seoul and met BTS, Rap Monster immediately took me there. I always look forward to eating here." Jennie addressed.
After their meal, the rest of their day consisted of practicing in the practice studio, and then the fan meeting in Gwangju, J-Hope's hometown for a fan sign. They took their seats at the fan sign, Jennie looked in awe at the very excited fans while sitting in between J-Hope and V.
"Whoa." She murmured looking at all the Jennie fansigns.
This was something she'd never get used to. They were all so decorated and had so many hearts. She was happy with the support BTS was getting.
'Fans who are happy seeing oppas and Jagi, Bangtan too are excited to receive all the support'
There were male fans there too, especially there to see Jennie, giving her cute gifts and shyly confessing their crushes on her, making her face heat up. She received tons of cute presents from the fans. They even got her the Smarties candies from America which shocked her the most as she told them it's her favorite type of candy. They let her know that they paid attention to some of the photos she would post on BTS' Twitter and would always see Smarties with her.
"NO WAY!" She squealed in excitement at the smarties. "Thank you so much!"
She loved the chalky colorful tablets. She could never get enough and if she could get sponsored by them, she would.
"We're gonna have a very hyper Jennie later on tonight." Jin sighed.
"Yay! I love hyper Jennie! I can't wait to see it!" J-Hope encouraged.
"Meeting your fans like this today, how are you feeling?" The camera crew asked after the fan meet.
"Y'know I still can't believe it. People really are interested in BTS and people here actually take interest in me. The amount of support they give us is so amazing. It's hot as fudge but seeing our fans today even in this hot weather was so worth it."

'Bangtan Secret Camera'
'8:00PM SangAmDong SBS Prism Tower'
BTS and Jennie were being informed by the fake writer, what their filming was about. They were told to film in an elevator and it has a camera on the top. Meanwhile, BTS was on standby with no idea what was to come. First up was Jimin then it was Jin, V, Jungkook, and Rap Monster.
"Jennifer." Her name was called as she looked up at the producer. "You're up."
She happily stood up. "Let's go!" She gave the camera a thumbs up and went into the elevator.
As soon as it closed, she started to ponder. "Let's see...what should I do?"
She starts goofing off by doing jumping jacks and shadow boxing.
"Here is your winner! And new champion~ Jennie! Woo hoo!" She cheered and began doing the Gangnam Style dance to celebrate.
'Jin was right. Jennie had too many smarties and began to act hyper. If only J-Hope was here to see this.'
In addition to her hype nature, she began to beatbox 50 Cent's In Da Club, rocking back and forth, preparing the rap. "Go, go, go, go, go, go. Go shawty, it's ya birthday, we're gonna party like it's ya birthday, we gon' sip Bacardi like it's ya birthday."
'This sugar rush is intense'
Afterward, she pretended to have a hat on as she attempted to moonwalk and dance like Michael Jackson, singing Billie Jean. At one point she ended up kicking out her leg and accidentally kicked the elevator.
"Whoops." She grins sheepishly at the camera.
Tumblr media
Afterward, she starts doing the Carlton dance with a goofy smile on her face. She was so into the dance she didn't hear the elevator ding and open, stopping on the 6th floor. As soon as a cute guy begins walking in on the phone, she shrieks, tripping on her feet and falling on the floor.
The guy had to contain his laughter as she scrambled up to her feet and fixed her hair before clearing her throat. Face heated, she backs up to the corner, with her head down in embarrassment.
Meanwhile, the guy presses all the buttons before standing across from her in the back of the elevator.
"You're breaking up with me?" The guy asked in shock as Jennie looked up to see him looking troubled on the phone. "Please don't do this, Jagi..." He let out a breath and hung up, looking sad
'Awkward...' She mouthed to the camera, looking up at it.
She did feel bad for the guy, getting broken up over the phone. She raised her head to see the guy looking at her as she shot her face down to her feet again, flustered. She let out a nervous laugh.
Suddenly a whole group of people rush in, crowding the elevator as the cute guy gets extremely close to her as they're chest to chest.
'Oh-my God.' She mouthed to the camera on top of the elevator. 'HELP-ME'
She turns her head to the side and fails to move around thanks to everyone crowding her way. She squeezes her eyes shut to try to get away from the awkwardness but with no avail as she opens her eyes, looking down to the side.
As soon as they reach the 15th floor, everyone gets out and she sighs out of relief. But suddenly, she hears them say, "You've been pranked."
"Wh-what?! SERIOUSLY!?" She screamed as everyone started laughing while the door closed. "That was so embarrassing! GAH!" She groaned and ran her hands through her hair.
On the 12th floor, everyone was waiting for her as they applauded her and laughed at her reaction.
"You guys are so mean!" She laughed and stumbled out of the elevator. "THAT was so embarrassing!" She fanned herself to get rid of the heat she was feeling all over her body.
"The girl suddenly came on the 6th floor, too?" Rap Monster asked.
"No, it was a guy. He was so close, man. I couldn't even say anything, I was so flustered."
She turned to the camera. "I was so shocked, but that was really fun."
----
'King/Queen of the end plate'
"BTS, I welcome you to King/Queen of the end plate." The manager said as everyone clapped
'A game that tests their luck! King/Queen of the end plate is starting!'
"I wonder who will be the king. Or if Jennie will be the Queen." J-Hope pondered
'BTS, King/Queen of the end plate. Testing their luck with cards.'
'1. From all the 8 cards, only one is the King's/Queen's. If the King's/Queen's card is pulled out, he/she is exempted from all the punishments.'
'2. For the rest of the members, they'll get 6 safe cards and one skull card.'
'The member who turns the skull cards and pulls them out will win the penalties!'
'The fate game that can test the member's luck will start now'
"Hello, I'm Rap Monster who today, luckily took over Bangtan's good luck." He said as he sat in the middle. Jennie sat in between J-Hope and Suga. "BTS' sauna rally will start now!" He announced as everyone woo'ed and applauded.
'STAGE 1'
"One. Two. Three." Rap Monster opened up the box.
'Flick without moving the body.'
"I know some people who have been practicing their flicks." he pointed out.
"Last time I received one from Jimin on the hand," J-Hope said. "My hand was burning."
Rapmon distributed the cards as everyone eagerly awaited his countdown, putting their cards face down on the mat.
"One, two, three!" He yelled as everyone flipped over their cards, revealing Jimin having the Skull Card.
Loud cheers and yells were heard as Jimin started freaking out that he got caught. Suga began happily dancing goofily while Jennie high fives J-Hope and Jungkook. Jimin whined in despair, still in disbelief.
"V will be the one who will do it," J-Hope announced as Jimin got on his back in the middle, getting held down.
"How much have I taken care of you!" Jimin exclaimed to V.
All of a sudden V flicked him on the forehead as a chorus of ohs surround him. He sits up and places his hand on his forehead to get rid of the stinging sensation.
"He hit him without any hesitation." Rap Monster said in awe
They placed Jimin back down again as J-Hope mimicked an elbow drop, frightening him as he laughed.
"Since it's the warm up round I'll go easy on you." J-Hope decided and flicked him on the forehead.
"Tears have started to appear in Jimin's eyes!"
Jennie's muffled laughs were heard as she tried to cover her mouth.
"How many people are left?" Jimin exclaimed as he was held back down.
Suga flicked his forehead as a clear sound was heard. Jimin quickly sat up, holding his forehead in pain.
"Woo! That was a good one!" Miss Bangtan high fived Suga.
'STAGE 2'
'Raw egg? Boiled egg? Between 7 boiled eggs, which one is the raw egg?'
They choose cards again before flipping them over, revealing Jin having the skull. Jin is laid on his back while everyone else has their eggs.
Jimin is the first one to smack the egg on Jin's forehead but Jin hesitates. "Wait a bit, wait a bit, why do you hit me like that? H-here...hit sideways, sideways!"
Jimin started practicing his egg smashing at a crazy speed, making everyone chuckle.
"I'm really scared, really." Jin admited. "Just do it fast."
Jimin smashed the egg on his forehead but it turns out it was raw. J-hope and V go next and it was the same result. Then it was Miss Bangtan's turn as she kneeled before Jin.
"Jin, are you still going to make those cookies for me?" She grinned, before moving some hair from his forehead.
Earlier today after practice, Jin mentioned he was in the mood for baking and wanted to bake some cookies. Jennie requested him to make sugar cookies.
"I dunno, do you have the raw egg?" He questioned, looking up at her.
"Maybe. Maybe not."
"If you have the raw egg, I'm not making you cookies. I refuse to reward you cookies if you hit me with a raw egg." He scolded.
"Can I have her cookies then?!" Jungkook raised his hand, earning giggles from the guys.
"Wha-are you-NO!" She stammered to Jungkook before turning back to Jin. "That's it, you asked for it! HIII-YAAA!" She yelled and smashed the egg on his forehead, making a clear and loud smacking noise.
"Yikes!" Rap Monster said with shock. "She packs a punch."
"Nice hit!" J-Hope praised.
"Just as expected from Miss Bangtan." Jimin cheered.
"Oh great, it's boiled. I can get my cookies." Jennie clapped for herself.
"No cookies for you." Jin declared.
"I will get my cookies!" She replied with a huff.
After J-Hope, and V went, it was Jungkook's turn. "Do you have any displeasure against Jin-ssi?" Rap Monster asked.
"He orders Jennie and I around a lot!" Jungkook replied, earning laughs from everyone.
"Oh yeah, he really does. I smacked him good, though! I just...really want my cookies." Jennie responded
"Well of course the oldest one orders the youngest ones around a lot!" Rap Monster replied.
As soon as Jungkook smacks Jin with the egg, it breaks, turning out to be raw as everyone gets hyped, happy that it finally broke. Jin slowly stood up, with a red forehead.
"What is this?" He asked the camera crew.
'Jin is still handsome-Jin even after hit with raw egg'
'STAGE 3'
'Bangtan's Sikhye drink king/queen!'
"What's sikhye?" Jennie asked the guys, still getting used to Korean food.
"It's a sweet rice drink. The staff seemed to have prepared Sikhye for one of us. I actually accidentally drank some of it before we started this and I spat it out immediately." she was told
"Oh dear..." She cringed. "I don't trust it! Please don't let it be me!"
"The sihkye has of course, sikhye, a little bit of vinegar and salt." Rap Monster informed as Jennie widened her eyes, looking at him like his crazy.
"Heck no! Oh my gosh, PLEASE don't make me have the skull card this time." She groaned
Everyone gets their card and they flip it over, revealing Jimin again with the skull card as he jumps away, landing on his back.
"WOO!" Jennie happily cheered with the rest of the guys, raising her hands in the air. "Thank ya, Jesus!"
Jimin started bowing on the mat, mentally preparing for his fate as the guys started singing 'A-PINK's NoNoNo' to him, making Jennie giggle. J-Hope sniffed the cup of Sihkye that Jimin had to drink and immediately made a face of disgust, handing it to him.
Jimin held his nose and took a big gulp before coughing and placing his head down.
'STAGE 4'
'Acupressure massage'
'Acupressure massage in order to loosen BTS' knotted muscles'
"The people who haven't received it don't know how much it hurts," Jimin replied
Everyone gathers their cards and quickly flips them over, revealing Suga who has the card.
"Oh no, Suga!" Jennie laughed
A woman comes over and begins her acupressure massage on Suga as he yells in pain, groaning out how much it hurts while the guys clap and fail to suppress their laughs. Jennie looks on in amusement. After the massage was done, everyone gathered back for the next stage, before questioning how the massage could be the 4th stage.
"You all...it looked like it didn't hurt right? It re-ally hurts." Suga stressed
"Your face has gone white." J-Hope pointed out.
"Yeah, I've been noticing that ever since the massage. You okay Suga?" Jennie asked, suppressing a chuckle.
"Do I look O-K to you?" He halfheartedly glared at her, earning a giggle from her.
'STAGE 5'
'Makeup.'
'The members will do your makeup and convert you into a beauty!'
"I'll have a blast if Jennie gets this one." Jimin teased, thinking of some evil tricks in mind for her.
"HA! HA! HA! NO!" She replied, earning a giggle from him. "I'm looking forward to a second Miss Bangtan that I can makeover. Is it you Jimin? I'll happily do your makeup for you."
"HA! HA! HA! NO!" He mocked her.
Everyone gathers their cards and flips them over to reveal Suga again, who cringes while everyone else whoops and celebrates.
'Suga is the king for the 2nd time!'
"Why is it me again?" Suga questioned before laying down on his back while V began placing makeup on his face.
Then the rest of the members add on. Jennie decides to draw smiley faces with the black eyeliner on his nose, sides of his cheeks and chin. Then she writes, 'Jennie is awesome' on top of his forehead, making the guys snicker.
"Jennie...what-are you-doing to my face?" Suga questioned in his deep voice.
"Oh, nothing...just making you beautiful." She replied with a bright smile.
"I'm going to kill you if I see what I think I know you're drawing." He playfully threatened her.
J-Hope and Jimin gasped loudly and grabbed onto Jennie, hugging her.
"You can't hurt our Jennie! She's our precious little Miss Bangtan! Don't worry, we'll save you from Suga's wrath!" J-Hope reassured with a smile.
Suga couldn't help but smirk, already plotting revenge. "No, they won't. Be on your toes, Smartie." He teased.
"Ooh, I'm so scared. Nice try Suga. I'm not falling for it." She remained unfazed.
Jimin places lipstick on Suga while everyone tells him how pretty he looks. After his makeup was done, Suga got up to everyone laughing and applauding. He stands to see what his face looks like and stumbles back in shock.
"Whoa! What is this!? What!?" He exclaimed. "I feel like I've become a newlywed bride. Prettier than Jennie."
"Oh~ Jennie has some competition." Rap Monster pointed out.
"Really?" She deadpanned
STAGE 6'
'Chili Horseradish'
'The one who receives the punishment has to eat the eggs with the horseradish the staff has prepared.'
"Gross!" Jennie sticks out her tongue while everyone asks why this a punishment. "I would like to live today, please!" She pleads to the producers with the guys.
Everyone flips open their cards to reveal Suga again as he starts laughing while everyone else celebrates.
"WOO HOO! Triple King! Snooze you lose buddy! HA!" She pumped her fist up in the air.
"Guys I've received the triple crown...this is definitely set up between the writers and Rap Mon."
Suga accused. "This is a conspiracy!"
V places the chili horseradish right in Suga's mouth. He reluctantly chews it and starts cringing and laughing because of the salt while the rest of the guys celebrate because they weren't forced to eat it. Meanwhile, Suga begins to tear up.
"Poor Suga." Jennie patted him on the back.
'STAGE 7'
'Ai! It's hot.'
Everyone flips over their card to reveal Jungkook getting the skull card and everyone gets hyped.
"AHHHH!"
"Golden maknae~ golden maknae~" The guys stood up and started dancing around while Jennie jumped up and down.
"AWE YEAH! I didn't get chosen at all! Beginner's luck!" She danced around with J-Hope.
The final punishment was Jungkook wearing multiple layers of clothing, including a Santa hat, and eating hot ramen in the charcoal sauna room. Jennie approached Jungkook after he was prepped.
"Jungkook I just want to say it was nice knowing you." Jennie addresses with a sad smile.
"Does it end like this? It was nice knowing you too, Jennie. C-can I have a hug before I go?" He grinned shyly and opened up his arms.
She playfully sniffed. "I'm gonna miss you." She wrapped her arms around him, pressing her cheek against his layered chest. In return, he wrapped his arms around her for a warm, friendly hug, oblivious to the rest of BTS walking over to them.
"Ooh! Group hug!" J-Hope intervened, joining by wrapping his arms around the two, who chuckled in response. Afterward, the rest of BTS follow suit before releasing each other.
After they finish filming Jennie waits for Jungkook to get out of the sauna as he sighs out of relief.
"Hey! You're alive!" She beamed, hugging him after he took off the extra layers. "...And sweaty. Very sweaty. Thanks."
She released him and wiped the sweat off his damp face a towel she had in her hands. "And your breath is really spicy." she pointed out
"Sorry." He grinned sheepishly as she handed him a cold bottle of water. "You're a lifesaver. It's so hot in there." He rubbed the water bottle all over his face.
"Well when you wear layers in a sauna, you're bound to sweat more than usual." she teased
"Thanks, Captain Obvious." He started drinking the water in big gulps.
She rolled her eyes with a smile. "How are you feeling?"
"Much better now, thanks to you! I appreciate you looking out for me."
She was flattered by his kind words. "Well, you know...I'm Miss Bangtan after all. More awesome than you-"
"All right let's not go too far. You're nowhere near as awesome as me." He interrupted playfully.
"Well, who was the Maknae that got caught with the skull card and who didn't?" She countered, leaving him stuttering. "OWNED!" She smacked him on top of his head and ran away with him right on her tail.
"WAIT! WAIT!" She yelped. "I NEED A 30 SECOND HEAD START!"
How can he be so fast?!
Before she could even get past the hallway, he caught her and picked her up over his shoulders.
"Jungkook! Put me down! You're still sweaty!" She tried to squirm out of his strong grip but to no avail as he started walking around. "How long are you gonna keep me up here!?"
"Until I get tired of it." He laughed with joy.
"Real funny, Jungkook..."
-----
A few hours after heading back to the dorm, Jennie headed into the living room to see Yoongi chilling on the couch, watching TV.
"Where'd everyone go?" She asked, popping the last few smarties in her mouth that she received from the fan meeting
Yoongi turned around and shrugged. "Have no idea. Took a shower and then they were gone."
"Huh. All righty." She turned around to go back to her room but stopped when Yoongi spoke up again.
"So remember that you drew smiley faces on my face, right?"
She turned and watched as he got off the couch. "Yeah?"
He takes out a permanent marker from his pocket and uncaps it, slowly turning to stare her down. The sight made her stomach drop. How was she going to escape this?
Chuckling nervously, she started to back up.
"H-hey...I just remembered I need to go for my jog. I'll catch up with you, later, mkay? Mkay." she tried to dash for the front door but he beat her to it, earning a loud shriek from her. "Oh come on!"
Yoongi sighed and shook his head. "Y'know, I should be napping. Been looking forward to napping all day. But getting my revenge on you is worth my nap time." He started aiming for her face, lunging at her with the marker.
"Agh!" She ducked and started running around the dorm with him keeping up with her.
Breathing hard, she dashes into her room and slams the door shut before attempting the lock it. She heard a loud bang of Yoongi's fists at the door before he busted open the door just before she could lock it.
"Yoongi, let's talk about this!" She jumped on her bed with him following her every move.
"Why talk when I can write all over your face, smartie?"
He was enjoying watching her try to escape. It was no use, she was about to get what was coming to her.
Jennie leaped off her bed and sprinted out of the room. "So long sucker!" She yelled and opened the front door. Before she could even run out, she screamed when he grabbed her back by the waist, effortlessly pulling her back in. "No! No! Yoongi, I'm sorry!" She pleaded as he placed her over his shoulder, shutting the door closed.
He placed her down on the floor, before restraining her as he started drawing and writing on her face. She tried to break free from his stronghold but failed
"Fighting is only gonna make more marks on your face. Which I don't mind." He laughed. "I told the guys I was plotting my revenge and I
wanted no distractions. Looks like Hobi and Jimin aren't saving you this time, Smartie."
"UN-BELIEVABLE!" She yelled and protested but it was all ignored as he put on her face,
'Suga is awesome'
'Suga>Jennie'
'Suga was here'
'Only Suga draws here' which was written all over her face in Korean as he snapped a picture and posted it on their Twitter captioning it by saying 'I told her I would get my revenge for drawing on my face. Worth my naptime #Suga'
He finally let her go as she looked at the picture. "OH MY GOD! YOONGI!" She dropped his phone in shock, earning a laugh from him. "I can't stand you!"
"The feeling's mutual, Smartie." He revealed his gummy smile and went to place a hand on top of her head as she playfully kicked him away.
"Off the hair!" She headed to the bathroom to try to clean off her face.
Twenty minutes later, the rest of BTS came back to Jennie and she walked out of her room to confront Jimin and J-Hope.
"YO! Where have you guys been!? I got my ass handed to me by Yoongi! He wrote all over my face! What happened to 'We'll protect you, Jennie'!?" She questioned.
"Yeah...about that..." Jimin rubbed the back of his neck, smiling nervously.
"Sorry, Yoongi scares me! He was so threatening. Sorry Jen Jen." J-Hope patted her head and went to the kitchen, earning a victorious smirk from Yoongi who sat on the couch.
"Wow." She starts laughing."You guys are a piece of work."

also it felt very weird when the guy at the fish counter was like “uh do you need this squid cut open and cleaned?” and the part of my brain that overshares was like “oh no, they taught us how to do that in girl scouts”
is it the truth? yes.
did this poor guy need an adult to tell him she learned how to take apart a squid as a child in girl scouts for reasons unknown? probably not.

You and The Bad Batch were on the way to save Hunter. You knew this would be a trap, but you couldn’t help but think of a certain sniper, your lover.
You and the batch didn’t understand what had happened to him at first, his brother, your love. The way he called you and the batch traitor, the way he raised his gun to you, and the way he talked. This wasn’t him, this was not the crosshair you know.
Then, it turned out that the kaminoans had implanted inhibitor chips in every clone to make clones blindly follow orders, even killing the jedi.
“Good soldiers follow orders” This line kept echoing in your head after you heard Crosshair say it. This, this was not the crosshair you know.
***
“You and omega wait here” Echo told you and omega.
“No, we should stick together!” Omega protested.
You put a hand on Omega’s shoulder, trying to calm her.
“No, echo’s right” Wrecker agreed with him.
“Stay out of sight, if things go south we’ll send you a signal. Go back to the ship and contact Rex.” Echo added, looking at you and omega.
You gave him a nod and pulled Omega back to your side before watching them ascend to the training room.
You know how much Hunter meant to Omega, the way they interacted, and the way they cared for each other. You understood why the young girl looked up to him.
“Omega, I’m sure they’ll get Hunter back.” You reassured her.
“I know, and Crosshair.” She looked at you with her bright eyes.
You were a little shocked when she mentioned him. All this time, you tried so hard to suppress your feelings for him, your love for him. The batch knew that you missed him, they could tell. The way you stared into his empty bed, and the nights that you cried until you were too tired and the tears were dried.
“Yeah, and Crosshair…” You smiled sadly at the young girl.
***
When you and Omega joined the batch in the training room, you, Omega, and AZI stayed in one of the gun towers. That was when you saw him, your Crosshair. Hunter and he were tackling each other while Tech, Echo, and Wrecker were shooting the droids.
“I believe you may have activated a few too many droids.” AZI said to Omega and you.
“ We can see that, AZI.” Omega raised her bow, aiming for the nearest droid to Hunter and Crosshair. Meanwhile, you used your blaster to shoot some of the droids near the others.
***
After clearing out all the droids, you, Omega, and AZI joined the others on the ground. You walked closer to Crosshair and Hunter.
You could see that Crosshair was shocked to see you, the coldness in his eyes, mixing up with a tiny bit of shock.
The big scar on the right side of his head was horrifying, did the empire did this to him? Your heart almost broke into million pieces, seeing the love of your life like this.
“Crosshair…” Your voice almost sounded like a whisper.
For a moment, you see the real Crosshair, your Crosshair. But soon replaced by the coldness and aloofness.
“Crosshair, forget the empire. This isn’t you, it’s the inhibitor chip.” Hunter tried to talk some senses into him.
“Wrong.” Crosshair stared back at Hunter. “I had my chip removed a long time ago.” He added.
All of you looked shocked, Tech and Wrecker looked at each other, speechless. Hunter almost looked hurt.
“Since when?” Hunter asked.
“Does it matter?”
“Yes”
No. No. This is not Crosshair. The Crosshair you know would never do this.
“Cross, the empire lied about many things, what if they lied to you?” You asked, trying to hold back your tears.
“This is who I am.”
Crosshair tried to raise his rifle, but Hunter was faster. He stunned him before Crosshair’s attempt.
***
“Hunter, three Venators are descending on the city. We need to leave, now.” Tech stated.
“Wrecker, grab Crosshair. He’s coming with us.” Hunter grabbed Crosshair’s rifle and backpack, while you went to picked up Crosshair’s helmet.
You saw Omega gave Hunter a nod before walking away. Hunter caught you staring at him, so you gave a sad smile to him in return.
“He’s coming home with us.” Hunter said.
***
You and The Batch finally made it to Nala Se’s lab, Tech and Echo were currently trying to figure out a plan. After Crosshair and Hunter’s intense conversation, you saw him walking to the window and taking a seat to rest.
“AZI, come with me, I need your help on something.” You asked.
AZI followed you to Crosshair, you took a seat beside him.
“Crosshair…”
“What do you want?” He asked coldly.
“AZI is a medical droid, he can scan you to check if you still have the chip.”
“Indeed, I helped CT-5555 removed his and CT-5385’s chip according to my memory database.” AZI said.
“Fine.” Crosshair agreed reluctantly.
“CT-9904, this scan only takes a few seconds” AZI said before scanning Crosshair.
To be honest, you knew he still had the chip, you hoped he still had the chip. Cause there was no way, no way the Crosshair you knew would be like this.
“The scan is completed.” AZI said.
“So..?” You asked.
“CT-9904 still has his chip, the chip’s effect was weakened due to the injury from ion engine.” AZI answered.
You felt almost relieved?
The Batch heard it and rushed to you, “He still has...his chip?” Hunter asked, sounded a little guilty.
Echo, Tech, Omega, and Wrecker looked at each other, surprised by this unexpected news as well.
“That would be correct.”AZI replied.
“Could you remove it, AZI?” Omega asked, she wanted his brother back as much as any of you did.
“Yes. I’m capable of removing CT-9904’s inhibitor chip.”
“Do it.” Hunter said.
You stayed next to Crosshair while AZI removed his chip. The surgery was faster than you think, you hold Crosshair’s hand during the whole surgery, and you still holding it now.
“CT-9904’s chip has been removed. He should be awake in any minutes.” AZI stated.
You felt his hand pressing yours, “Crosshair?”
“I...I…”
“Hey, you’re okay now. We removed your chip.” You reassured him.
Crosshair looked away from you, his eyes filled with guilt, confusion, anger, sadness.
“Don’t you hate me?” He asked. “All those things I had done…”
Your hand reached out to stroke his face, “No. Never. I know it’s the chip, Cross. It’s not your fault.” You smiled at him. “I love you, always and forever.”
Crosshair put his hand on your face, wiping away the tears falling down your face. “ But I shot at you, I tried to kill you… I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry…”
“Shhh, I forgive you, Cross. All of it. I’m sorry we didn’t come to save you earlier…”
Crosshair sat up and pulled you into a hug, you melted into his touch, inhaling his scent. Your Crosshair was finally back to you, this is real. The sleepless night without him, the loneliness, the emptiness, the desperation, were all gone. Crosshair was back to you, alive.
“I love you too, cyare.” He said it back.
He pulled away a little so he could kiss you on the lips, his hand trailed to your nape, kissing you with force. You and Crosshair clung on to each other so hard, afraid you would lose each other again. That was when you heard Hunter cleared his throat, you two finally pulled away from each other.
“I know you two miss each other but this lab is about to collapse. and this is not very…” Hunter said and eyed Omega.
“Right, sorry about that.” You answered, then looked at Crosshair whose arm was still wrapped around you. “Cross.” You nudged him.
“Fine.” He gave up and retreated his arm.
“I see Crosshair still has his severe and unyielding personality.” Tech stated.
“This is called missing someone, Tech.” Crosshair said and pulled out one toothpick to throw it at him.
“Ha! He’s back!” Wrecker exclaimed and playfully punched Crosshair’s shoulder.
Crosshair pretended to show an annoyed face, but deep down you knew he missed his brothers.
“Listen, Crosshair. I’m sorry. We should have come for you earlier.” Hunter said. “I was trying to keep the rest of the squad safe, but you are one of us. I’m sorry.”
Crosshair didn’t say anything, just stood up and walk toward Hunter. For a moment you thought he was going to punch him, but instead, Crosshair extended his hand to Hunter.
Hunter looked at Crosshair’s hand then his eyes, he reached out his hand to shake Crosshair’s.
“We need to leave fast, the structure could not hold much longer.” AZI chimed in.
***
All of you finally made it to the platform, for once the Kamino is sunny.
Omega stared at the Tipoca City, which was all destroyed. “It’s… all gone.”
You looked at that direction, the place all clones called home was all gone. The Batch and you took a few seconds to process this, to accept the fact.
“We should leave before Empire’s scouts show up.” Tech said.
“You coming with us?” Wrecker asked, looking at Crosshair.
“Yeah.” Crosshair said and took out a toothpick, putting it into his mouth.
Hunter nodded at him before walking to the ship with the others.
You still stood next to Crosshair, “You ready?” you asked.
“Yeah.” He gave you a little smile then intertwined his hand with yours, leading you to the Marauder.
You didn’t know what the future would be, but one thing was sure. Crosshair would be right beside you, always and forever.

Traitor
Chapter 1
summery: after training to inherit the female titan you decided to go through with running away from Malrey but when Reiner wont go with you you decide to go alone.
You never thought about leaving Marley, at least not by yourself. Reiner was supposed to go with you; that was always the plan until now.
As the rain picked up, so did your sobs. "Reiner please you promised me you'd go with me" you cried holding on to both his hands. He was so cold but not from the rain that you both were standing in but he was simply a cold person at the moment.
"Stop being like this Y/n.. you know I can't go with you" he pulled his cold hands out of your small warm ones. If you were near any house he knew your sobs could be heard by everyone.
You couldn't understand why he was being like this. He promised so long ago that you'd go together. "You promised!" You shouted at him as you wiped away your tears. "You said you'd go with me, Reiner what changed?!"
The silence that followed your question was so beyond painful. You knew why he wouldn’t go right? “Y/n'' he paused for a moment as he questioned how to say this without hurting you any further. “I’m inheriting the armored titan, that's a really big deal. I can’t go with you, I need to be here with my family” He said as he turned and began to walk away. “Even though I want to I can’t” you couldn’t hear the last part even if he wanted you to.
Your tears began to stream down your cold cheeks again. “Renier please I’m supposed to get the female titan. Why does it matter if you get the armored!!” you paused to see if he'd respond. “Reiner please..We're supposed to go together..” you choked out as you tried to stop the tears. You only began to cry harder when he kept walking. “Fine!! I’ll go alone then!” You screamed at him before running back to your home.
He didn’t believe you’d actually run away but you did. A week later when Reiner was walking past your home to go see Annie and Bertholdt he heard your mother screaming your name and a young Colt Grice trying to help find you. “Colt what’s going on?” he asked the small boy.
The young boy looked up to the taller boy with tears running down his cheeks “They haven’t been able to find Y/n since yesterday” he cooked out between sobs.  Colt loved you. You always babysat him so in his eyes you were like a sister.
Reiner pulled the young boy into a tight hug. “Hey hey it’s okay they’ll find her she’ll be alright” he whispered to the boy as he carried him to your mother. You actually left Marley. God he hoped you’d be okay. “Hey what’s going on?” he asked your mother.
“She’s gone Reiner! My daughters gone tell me you know where she is” your mother wished he knew or that he would tell her. “One of our Warriors is gone, one that you love, tell me where she is please.” She broke down in tears as she held on tightly to one of your coats.
“I don’t know where she is, I'm sorry…” he said as he dried colt tears trying to ignore his own that were starting to slip. He did know he just couldn’t tell anyone that's the least he could do after not going with you. If they found out you snuck on a Marley ship they might have killed you. He didn’t even know if you were alive.
A few days later the Marley ship you had snuck on landed and you found your way to the walls. Having grown up in Marley and trained to be a titan shifter you knew how to survive in the unfamiliar land. It took you three days to reach the walls. You were dehydrated, starving and hurt when you collapsed outside the walls. to your luck you collapsed when titans were not active and the survey corp was getting back from an expedition.
“Erwin Levi come here!” You heard a voice call from beside you. You were too weak to open your eyes or move much but you could tell it was a woman's voice.“Look, a kid made it outside the walls!”
You heard the sound of two people landing close to you. “She's extremely hurt. We should take her to Grisha and look for her family.” said one of the men. He sounded older than the women and much more serious. “Levi come here” he said as you forced yourself to open your eyes just a little all you could see were the wings on their backs. Those wings brought you hope and made you feel safe. Maybe it was those three voices as well but the sight of the wings brought you hope.
“Lets just take her to Grisha. I doubt she has parents considering she's outside the walls. We would have been told if any parent lost their child that knew how to escape.” the other man said. You felt thick arms pick up your small body “she's probably really young maybe 10” that was the last thing you heard before pain and tiredness took over you.
Hours later you began to wake up slowly. When you had been brought to Grisha Yeager you had a lot of injuries. You were dehydrated, had a sprained ankle, a broken rib and a few cuts that needed stitches. As you began to wake up you felt the pain from the rib that you had broken but also how dizzy you were from the dehydration and hunger.
“Y/N don’t” a voice said from across the room. It was a familiar voice but one you haven't heard in years. The man brought over a bowl and a glass of water for you. “What were you thinking coming here”
You opened your eyes slowly. You didn't recognize the dimly lit room you found yourself in. you looked around for a moment before your eyes settled on the man that was standing a little far from you. It took a moment for your vision to focus but as it did you were able to make out the features of the man “doctor Yeager?” your voice was weak and scratchy. You were very little when you met the doctor but your home back in Marley had many photos in it and a few were of you and Grisha when you were a baby. You had few memories of him but knew his voice.
He helped you sit up and handed you the cup of water. “I'm surprised you know who I am. What are you doing here? Do you have the other shifters with you?’ he asked, trying not to overwhelm you with questions but god he had so many. He knew you, Reiner, Bertholdt and Marcel were going to be inheriting titans so he was confused as to why only one of you was there and why so early.
You looked away and stared at your bruised hands “it's just me. I don't have a titan either. I ran away but no one would go with me.” the thought if Reiner betraying you like he did hurt so much. It felt like having your heart ripped out.
Grisha sighed and handed you the bowl “here eat something. Well you didn't surfer anything too bad. You'll be all healed up in a month or so. Did you bring anything with you?” you shook your head no “okay that's fine i'll get you some clothes from Mikasa. Why'd you leave marley though”
You couldn't remember why you wanted to run away but you knew you did want to. “I didn't want to be some weapon to the people who turned my dad into a titan. I didn't want to die young” you felt tears fall down your cheeks and whipped them away. You took a bite of the food he had given you in hopes of it preventing your sobs from slipping past your lips. You missed your friends and your mom so much now.
“Do you know who saved you today?”
You paused for a moment and started to remember those blue and white wings. “The people with the blue and white wings on their backs right?” the wings on the back of the capes they wore was the only thing you really remembered about them but those wings saved you.
“Yes, the wings of freedom. They are part of the survey corps. If you stay here, I want you to join them” he said as he put away bandages and everything he used to heal you. “Those wings are something i hope to see on your back soon to”
“Dad, the scouts are back!” a young boy yelled down to his father.
Grisha wrapped a blanket around your shoulders “okay thank you Eren will you and Mikasa come keep her company while i speak to them? And have her bring some spare cloths”  he said walking to the door and letting the two children in to the room “i'll be back”
After he walked away a young girl with long black hair handed you a neatly folded stack of clothes. “Here” she said as she walked to the young boy with brown hair. You said thank you quietly and changed when they walked out of the room to let you change.
Upstairs grisha greeted the three scouts who brought you to him. “Is there any chance you can water her doctor Yeager? '' Erwin asked. They didn't know anyone who wanted a child. It was another mouth to feed and most of the people around Shiganshina didn't want to deal with that.
“I can't take her. I'm sorry Erwin but can i in trust her to the scouts? She's a strong child who obviously spent days beyond the walls and only the four of us know that but she's clearly very smart and she could be a good scout.” Grisha asked the three in front of him.
Levi sighed, shaking his head “We're soldiers not babysitters. How are we going to care for a child?” he asked. He was already annoyed that this was happening; he didn't want to care for a child. No one in the scouts did.
“I'll do what I can to care for her and I'll even pay for her food for a while but my condition is that she joins the scouts early. She could be a good asset.” Grisha said looking at Hange and Erwin hoping they'd agree with him.
“Well I think we should do it not any child can survive beyond the walls. She's obviously a strong child. She can help me study titans!” Hange said and Erwin and Levi knew that sparkle she had in her eyes. There was no backing out now. They four agreed that by the time you were 12 that you'd be joining the scouts way earlier than anyone.
When you came from the room you were met by three soldiers, two men and one woman. “Hello Y/n I'm Hange Zoe, these are my friends Erwin and Levi!” she chirped pointing to the blonde and then then the shorter man with black hair. “Um hi” you said to the three. “So tell me Y/n how'd you get out of the walls?” Hange asked as she walked with you to their horses.
What were you supposed to tell her? That you're from another island and get yourself killed? “I don't really remember it's all foggy.” you said not making eye contact so none of them knew the truth. “I only remember the three of you saving me”
“That's alright you were very weak when we found you.” the tall blonde said giving you a soft smile. His voice and smile brought you a lot of comfort as well.
All the way back to headquarters you talked Hange and rode on the back of her horse. Every Once in a while Erwin would chime in and talk to you as well. He was surprised you survived so long beyond the walls after a while you looked over  to the shorter man and whisper to Hange “is he okay he seems mad” you asked tightening your hold on her waist. “Oh he's fine, that's just his face” she said trying not to laugh “watch it four eyes” Levi said shooting her a mean scare. You couldn't really tell if they were friends or enemies.
A few months later you were at the scout headquarters training when wall Maria fell. When you were told the news it felt like your heart had dropped to your stomach. You hoped Eren, Mikasa and Carla were alright. They were your dearest friends.  The scouts had just returned from outside the walls. You weren't allowed to go with them so you were stuck at headquarters wondering if your beloved friends were alright. Erwin seemed so distant that day but he was like that anytime they had lost that many scouts but the fact he couldn't help those beyond wall rose hurt as well.
That night you overheard someone from the garrison describing what the titans looked like and how strong they were.  It wasn't hard for you to figure out it was your dear friends Annie, Reiner, Bertholdt and Marcel. It made you sick thinking you were supposed  to be part of that mission. You tried to hide your sobs as you walked back to your room but Hange heard you like she always did and brought in hers and tried to comfort you the best she could without asking questions. It was easier not to ask sometimes when it came to you.
You got persimmon from the commander to go look for your friends the next day and when you did you soon learned that Carla was eaten by a titan and Eren watched. Armin and Mikasa had survived with very minor injuries. You couldn't imagine that but at the same time you could. Your father was turned into a titan when you were a baby but you couldn't remember that. Your pain wasn't like the pain Eren was feeling; it was very different.
Over the next two years you finished training, went on missions with the scouts, and helped Hange study titans. She and Erwin kept you by their sides constantly. You helped Erwin with plans quite a lot and you helped Hange do research. When it came to Levi most of the time you two spent around one another was training, helping him clean or trying to assist with plans. The three of them were like your parents. You had thought that you'd have to actively try to avoid those you knew from Marley but you found yourself busy enough that you didn't need to actively avoid them.
It had been two years since the fall of Wall Maria and it was Eren, Mikasa, and Armin's first day in training. “Shatas is just going to try and intimidate you so don't take it personally okay guys?” you said fixing your jacket and shirt. “He won't intimate me. I doubt he's that scary.” `Eren said. “Oh Eren, you're in for a treat”you said. You heard Shatas yell your name and you waved goodbye to your three friends and ran off to him. Erwin asked you to help with training today since he and Hange didn't have anything for you to do.
“Why'd she get to join early? Isn't she the same age as us?” Armin asked as he walked beside his two friends. “I know she's told me before but I still don't understand.”
“I think she said it was special orders from commander Erwin, '' Mikasa said, moving her hair behind her. You were the youngest scout out there and one of the strongest too. The three of them took their spaces in the line up as did everyone else. You and shatas walked over to the group as he began his grilling introductions of everyone. He really was rough on the recruits. You winced a little when he headbutted Jeans and when you saw Connie salute wrong.  Shatas shouted your name “what did Springer do wrong?” he asked loudly. You fixed your poster and did the same salute “he did the salute on the wrong side sir your heart isn't on your right side” you said before looking over to some of the recruits. “Be more like that young scout Springer” he said walking to the next person.”
A familiar pair of brown eyes found their way where you stood. You had gotten taller since the last time he had seen you your hair had changed quite a bit too. All he could think about was how beautiful you looked. You could feel the pair of eyes staring daggers into you and looked over to where it felt like the person was. Your eyes meet his brown ones. Reiner was the last person you wanted to see. He shouldn't even be standing in those spots. Annine and Bertholdt shouldn't be with him either yet here they are. One staring at you and the other two looking straight ahead at Shatas.  You looked away from Reiner as fast as possible. You felt like your heart was about to jump out of your chest from how anxious you were.
“Y/n make sure that Kirstein and Springer aren't hurt”
“Yes sir”  You walked over to the two boys as he began to grill a girl who was eating a potato. You'd find out that night her name was Sasha. You helped Jean up first “is your head okay?” you asked as you checked the small lump that was now growing on his head. Jean nodded and tried not to stare at you as you helped Connie up. “What about you are you okay?” Connie nodded “yeah i'm good that just hurt a little.”
“I'm Y/n. I'm in the scout regiment. If you have any questions or anything, ask me. I'm a lot nicer than Shatas'' you whispered the last part to the two boys and walked back to your spot after you checked on Armin.
After Shatas had pretty much grilled everyone Reiner had realized he finally had the chance to talk to you after these past few years. He began to walk towards you. Bertholdt had tried to tell him not to, Annie wanted to try and stop him but it wasn't her business but she had to admit she missed you too so maybe it wasn't that bad of an idea to let Reiner talk to you. As he began to approach you a woman called out your name “Y/n!! I've come to steal you back for a little while”
You laughed a little, “Hi Hange, does the commander need me?” you asked as you walked to her, completely passing Reiner not giving him a chance to speak to you. You didn't want to talk anyways, you were still processing that he was there and that those three killed half of humanity. After you had seen them you had guessed Marcel didn't make it.
“Actually both me and the commander need you for a moment” Hange said as you waved goodbye to Eren and Armin. You walked with Hange and said goodbye to Shatas. She sure did seem to have good timing. You didn't know if you would be able to keep your cool with Reiner. You had spotted him out of the corner of your eye.
You did the best you could to avoid him after he joined the cadets. Being a scout you didn't really have to try all that hard you were either on expeditions or you were helping the captains or the commander. When you had free time you were with your friends. You'd cut Mikasa's hair for her, do what you could to help Eren get stronger and sometimes you could be found reading with Armin. Being friends with those three meant you made friends with some of the other cadets like Connie, Sasha, Jean and Marco. Sometimes you'd cut Connie's hair or you'd train with Jean and show him some really beautiful spots. When you were found with Jean Marco was there too.
After about six months Bertholdt tried to talk to you again when he found you walking around one day with someone from the scouts. “You should talk to him, maybe you guys could patch things up” Bertholdt said as he handed you some of an apple he cut up. The two of you were sitting somewhere out of sight but not too far away so that you could watch the sunset.
You shrugged a little and took the apple slices “I don't want to talk to him right now. I still can't forgive him” you said, looking up at the sky. You always loved the sun sets in Paradis. They were far more beautiful than the ones in marley. “Talking to you is hard to but him it seems impossible to talk to him.”
Berhtoldt knew you didn't forgive Reiner. You made that very clear by how you acted when you ran into the cadets and ignored the three of them. It was just better that way for now. You still loved the tall blonde deeply but how can you forgive someone for what he did? As a child you always held promises close to your heart so when reiner refused to go with you that was one of the worst acts of betrayal.
“At least keep talking to me okay.”
You nodded, taking another apple slice from the boy “okay but don't tell Reiner I'm not ready for that yet.”

Devil may cry parent headcanons
Dante
He probably is a fun dad but at the same time don't leave your kids with him, it would be a disaster
Will wake up to crying at 12 am and try to put the kid back to sleep, ends up with both of them watching tv instead
This man will do anything with your kid, they want to go to the park, sure he'll have to keep an eye on them. They want to see the movies, sure has to be below pg or he will never hear the end of it from the nightmares his kids have. Want to go to the zoo, sure he just needs to make sure they don't go into the exhibit.
He will play dress up and tea time with them. He will put on a dress and have them do his makeup just so he can go to tea time, and might start some beef with Mr teddy for stealing his cupcakes, but he will do it proudly.
He will try to do their hair in the morning for school, again he is not the best at it and will probably give them crooked pigtails, he's trying he really is.
Can't cook for shit, I'm sorry if you think he could cook please take a look at all the pizza box stored around his shop. Like he will take cooking lessons or watch cooking shows but dear god how do you set fire to milk.
He will always be there for his kid to vent even if he doesn't know how to respond he will sit and let them rant about stuff, also trying to cheer them up because he doesn't want to see them sad
If they brought their homework to him he would be confused he can barely pay his bills i don't think he knows how to do math, but drama he will rock that stuff his acting skills are on point even if it's cheesy
Will waste all his money on the kid, toys, clothes, video games, you name it he will buy it and give to the kid
Remember how I said not to leave your kid alone with Dante yeah, he may or may noteave his weapons/devilarms around for the kids to grab them, like halfway of Dante walking into the main room and he sees ebony in his kids mouth he tricksters all the way to them and quickly grab ebony before anything bad happens, but the kid will start crying and he has to find something for them to mess with or he'll get a headache
He accidently devil triggered in front of his kid now depending on which one he get two responses and he's expecting screaming for both, but if its regular dt like humanish looking one, "woah, dad grew scales and wings, are you a lizard king?" Now its his Sin Dt he would get "Oo, daddys a gaint dragon" for both case they will proceed to touch his scales? And will be all over him trying to climb him to the point he literally has to switch out of dt so they don't get hurt. Also he's a heat source for winter if the heating doesn't get paid for.
If his kid comes out as any of the lgbtq+ he would be supportive and loves them for who they are, I also see him being apart of it too.(I know a few people see him as asexual I do too, as well as bisexual)
Vergil
Look this guy probably has no clue what he's doing, even if we wish he could've taken care of Nero (at least I do) he didn't and now he has another kid to take care
Please help him hold the baby, he can't properly do it at all, he's just holding them by their chest and staring at them with confusion as the child cry, "why won't they stop screaming?"
He will get the hang of taking care of the kid, but please don't leave him alone with them for long he still has no clue what he's doing half the time
"Hey can I hang out with (insert name) at the mall?", "Do I know their mom?", "Uh, no", "Do I know their dad?", "No" Then that settles it, you can't go", "But-", "No buts, if I don't know their parents you can't go, and that's finale"
Can he cook, probably but he's been in hell for most of his life and doesn't know what he's doing half the time. Thank god for cooking shows and book he at least tries a learn how to cook, and doesn't burn anything unlike someone else
He will read the kids William Blake or other bed time stories before bed time, and will do activities where they try to make up poems he has to thank Nero for the idea
Speak of Nero, if Vergil has a mission he will leave his kids with him, he's not trusting Dante at all. Nero absolutely loves his step siblings even if their like a few years younger than him, they will either play with the other kids at the orphanages or play Nero which consist of Video games, sometimes sword fights if they beg long enough, or just talk about the stuff their dad and uncle does that are stupid and make fun of them for it.
Also that one dad to try and help with math homework but makes the kid cry because they don't understand the problem and he's yelling at them "What's 2 x 2?" Its traumatizing please someone tell him to cool it or his kid is going to have problems when it comes to yelling and math, also complains how he didn't learn it that way as a kid, I promise you he was homeschooled.
Now his kids can vent to him but he has no clue what to do nor have much good advice but he will give what he knows even if it's not the best.
This can go many ways, this man know his kid is getting bullied he will go down to the school with the Yamato and threaten someone's life, give his kid the sword for them to deal with it instead, or use some brain cells and deal with it like civil people and we hope he chooses the last one
Now he's a little careful with his devil trigger and doesn't want to scare his kids, but its by accident really and he expects screaming, just like Dante he gets two responses. Regular dt and I'm going off of 4 because I don't think he has one in dmc5, "Dad, why didn't you tell me/us your secretly a bug, don't worry well keep you away from shoes." If its Sin Dt, "Wow, your a dragon this whole time, does this mean I'm also a dragon, where do you keep your stashed gold?", I feel like for his regular dt they will sometimes smack him with a fyswatter and he has to turn out of his sin dt quickly because they want to mess with the fire coming out of him.
If his kids come out as lgbtq+ he will be supportive and a little confused because he has no clue what it is. They have to explain what it means and what their sexuality means, he'll still be supportive and loves his kids no matter what they are
Nero
Out of Vergil and Dante, he's probably the one who knows more about taking care of kids since he grew up with them in an orphanage and takes care of them
I feel he's like a mix between Dante and Vergil, Fun dad but will put his foot down on somethings
If its a girl you bet he will go out to a store at whatever time it is and buy then pad/tampon when their monthly comes no questions asked he just knows. If its a dude he will give the talk, not just protection but what not to do, like when a girl tells him to stop he needs to stop, no advancing on or anything like that (I feel like the no advancing will also go for the girl)
Doesn't do favoritism, he hates that stuff since he technically dealt with it as a kid, if one kid ask why he loves the other more than them he will shut that down quickly and tell them he loves them equally and will move moons for them to both be happy
Best cook hands down, and will let his kids help if they want to but keeps them away from sharp objects. He will also take them out to dinner if he doesn't want to cook
He's decent with homework, and goes about it in a fun learning experience for the both of them, if they get an answer right they get a point that they can trade for something special later kne, if they get it wrong they will go over it again, but still get a point because no favoritism. He also help make a volcano, but also put a little extra pizzazz to it, and might have caused the whole kitchen to be a different color now.
His kids can vent to him, he will understand and try to help give advice for some issues, also takes them out of the house to do something they want to do to cheer them up
He will encourage his kids to follow what they want to do, play a sport? He will show up to every game, even if that means giving Dante his mission he will. A club? He will make sure they have everything they need for that club and be on time for it, be it art, book, yearbook, student council, etc. They want to do boy scout/girl scout, he will make sure he gets them a vest and help put pins on as well. He will be the number one supportive dad
As soon as his kid comes to him crying about how some other kid is bullying them he will be mad, he'll reassuring his kid that they are amazing first, then go to the school, if they don't do anything he will go straight to the parent and make sure that their kid doesn't mess with his anymore.
Will watch anime with them, if they agree that is don't want your dad into your stuff. But like he's absolutely into it, he seems like the person to like Bleach (this was not intentional I complete forgot that the voice actor for Nero also did Ichigo) or Cowboy Bebop. Maybe sailor moon but you won't hear him say it
Look he's really new to the devil trigger business, the only thing close he had was that ghost creature, so keeping this thing in check and not popping up randomly is hard. His kids reaction are, "You hair is longer, are you like rapunzel, oh wait you have wings and a crown your an angel. Oh can I braid your hair please," of course he will let them braide his hair he can't say no to a pouting face, they also will poke his wings to see if their real.
He will definitely support his kid if their aprat of the lgbtq+, will buy them flags, merch, you name it. He want his kid to feel safe and loved
Lady and Trish
Look I can't separate these two, when I first saw them I thought they were girlfriends, and I can't let that go. But these two would definitely be the fun and protective mom
So considering Trish and Lady are both females they definitely have to adopt of course, now Lady may not know if its half demon or full, but Trish does and she probably would help the kid when they get older since she knows about the demon body considering she has one, if its human Lady knows the most about the stuff going on when they get older and has I already planned out.
Now Lady has to be the protective mom because the shit happen with her dad she definitely doesn't want anything bad to happen to their kid, and Trish is like you do you kid if you get hurt you learn from it "its the demon way of raising" she says. Though she still will watch over them and make sure they don't get themselves severely hurt
They will buy their kid anything, and take them out shopping. It's like a spin the wheel of pay to see if they will pay for the stuff or put it under Dante's name for shits and giggles
Lady has to like keep her weapons locked up somewhere safe, unlike Dante, she's more careful with her weapons
If their kid is mad or something Trish will take them to some deserted area with some random stuff she found that isn't in use and have their kid throw it in the air so she can blow it up with her lighting, you know to blow steam off
Trish or Lady tell their kid the stupidest thing Dante has done or said, if they visit Dante please note one will scream if Dante says something about a soul, "I should have been the one to fill your dark soul with Light" and get the voice crack right too, he will look so embarrassed
Now Trish might not know anything about homework she'll support the best she can but Lady knows most of the stuff and will help.
Trish will tell their king everything about Hell, who's in charge, what creatures are there, the history of it all. Its a great learning experience until you tell them that the female demons kill the male after finishing mating
If they are out in public and some guy is hitting on their kid and their tell him no, protective mom mode is on. Mostly Lady has to stop Trish from frying thr guy, but Lady will give the man a price of her mind saying if he tries to do this shit again with her kid he will be going home with a foot straight up his ass. So now no man tries to hit on her
Definitely let the kids go venting to them, they give the best cuddled, some good advice, and shopping if they say someone's bullying them they will see that the parent deals with their kid.
They knew their kid was apart of lgbtq+, of course their supportive of who they are, they are dating of course. They will take them to a pride march in June
Kyrie
Look, LOOK, she is an amazing mom, so caring but also will put her foot down on somethings
Besides Nero she is a good cook and baker, while she doesn't want kids in the kitchen while she's cooking will will have them help with baking sweet
Reads bedtime stories and tucks her kids in and kiss goodnight (ugh my heart hurts I love this)
She will play video games with her kids mostly on the wii, she still the champion on Mario Kart and Just Dance no one has taken their spot yet, even Nero tries
Packs lunch for her kids and puts a note in it telling them that she loves them and hope they have the best day
She does worry about them from time to time when they go over a friends house, only because of what happened to her brother and then Nero she doesn't want anything to happen to her kids
Tells them not to climb the tree in their backyard, what does one of them do, they climb it and accidently falls down. She goes to them saying "You know I told you not to do it, and you did it anyways, you need to be more careful and listen to me. I'm not doing this because I'm being uptight I'm doing this for your safety I want you to be able to do the things you want in the future"
I feel like she's the same way with friends like Vergil, if she doesn't know the parents then you can't go out or over their house
She is really a good listener and help with advice, so venting to her is a really great idea also will ask about your feelings and how your doing someday, like she knows your in a sad mood
She also good with homework, I feel like she wanted to become a teacher as well as study for it, but instead stuck with taking care of orphans, so she probably homeschools her kids too
She also makes the kids clothes time to time, they have little sweaters or shirts that are soft and comfortable
She is so supportive of her kids if they come out lgbtq+, she doesn't care as long as their happy thats all that matters.
Nico
Now I love Nico amazing and pretty girl but don't leave a child with her, just like Dante it will be a disaster, but she probably would try to be a better parent than her since he technically wa this weird freaky man who experimented on demons or was weird.
Let's start with teaching the kid every swear word she knows and tells them to go up to Nero call him one of those names, she will hear her name being screamed and find an angry Nero going over to her as she burst into fits of laughter
Will be extra pair of arms when getting a tool they need for fixing the van, when Nero does understand what a Dohicky is
I think Nico can cook, its decent not bad or good, she did nearly burn the van down from trying to cook turkey.
She will try and cut back on smoking or at least not doing it when the kid is around because its bad for them, Nero scoffs because she nags him when he tells her to stop, but not her kids
Now her kids could bring homework to her, like he's good in math, engineering, and probably biology, but she'll act as if she never even seen the stuff in her life, because she wants to get her learn it and not her just giving them the answer. But if their kid is in a science fair I bet she will help make something totally child friendly(its not really), it kind of gets her and her kid ban from doing anymore science fairs.
She will teach then everything she knows about Demon, mostly the biology of it, and when Nero brings a demon part for his breakers, she goes in explain how she turns them into those.
Will tease her kids if they talk about their crush, she's a huge teaser so saying something about someone they really like or anything its a mistake, she will embarrass them in front of their crush, but she means well
If they try to change the channel of the radio she swats their hand saying the driver picks the music and the passenger has to sit and listen.
If she's busy with something she will let Nero and Kyrie babysit her kids, she trust them and the kids love Nero and Kyrie.
Tries to teach her kids how to drive when their of age to learn, but Nero and Kyrie won't let her considering how she drives and that the instructor is more legal to do it.
No but she will tease her kid a bit if they come out lgbtq+ too, of course she supportive I kind of see her being apart of lgbtq+ as well
*Bonus because it seemed reasonable to just put this one here like this*
Nero, Dante, Vergil, Lady, Trish, Nico
They will teach their kid self defense, and how to use a weapon. While they rather their kids have a normal life instead of a demon hunter for many reasons, they at least want their kid to take care of themselves if they find themselves in a situation where their life is on the line

Chapter Two: Hard Times at the Huskin' Bee
Tumblr media
The chirping of crickets, gobbling of turkeys and the honking of the soaring geese above indicated the morning creeping up on the trio (or quartet?). The sound that accompanied the early morning chat of the nearby animals was Greg blowing raspberries to feed his short attention span. Scout was mildly surprised that Wirt hadn’t yet snapped at him, but then again, the teen boy was skilled at blocking out his younger brother.
For the fourth time in the last hour, Scout’s leg had given out on her slightly, causing her to stumble a bit. What she would give to have a chair, a couch, a bed to rest her wounded leg for maybe half an hour. A full one, perhaps? Maybe even two?
“You know what? I think we’re gonna find a town soon,” She chirped. I can feel it.”
“Well, we need to,” Wirt sighed, staring up at the sky that rained rays of sunshine upon them. “It’s almost morning. We should’ve found one by now. This is the way the Woodsman told us to go, right?”
“Yes, Wirt.”
Greg blew another raspberry before glancing up at his brother with big eyes. “Have you listened to anything I’ve been saying? For the last couple hours, I’ve been saying… Pbbt! Pbbt! Pbbt-”
“Well, that settles it,” He finally snapped. “I’m gonna walk up ten feet ahead of you.” He frowned and walked past the two. Scout sighed and shook her head at her friend in amusement. She failed to notice the boy stop his walking when he heard a voice call out to him.
“I hear something!”
Scout turned to Greg and started towards him. “Wirt, Greg heard something!”
“It’s probably nothing. Hey, look,” Wirt crouched down in front of a sign nailed to a nearby tree. “‘Pottsfield, one mile’. A town! Let’s go this way.”
“Okay. After this, though.” She turned away from him and joined Greg’s side. The boy had been digging into a bush and talking into it. Behind her, she heard Wirt’s footsteps before he was by her side.
“Greg, stop talking to a bush.”
“Okay.” The boy shrugged before reaching into the bush again. Seconds later, the same bluebird from the previous night flew out of the bush and flapped her wings above them.
Scout widened her eyes at the bird. “You!”
“Thanks! I owe you a favor. So, um, you guys are lost kids with no purpose in life, right?”
“Uh-huh!”
“Um-”
“How about I bring you to Adelaide of the Pasture, the Good Woman of the Woods? She could help you get home!”
As the two boys stared at the bird in awe, Scout narrowed her eyes and crossed her arms. She didn’t trust this bird for one second. “Adelaide, huh? How’s she gonna help us?”
The bluebird scrunched what would’ve been her brows. “She has powers.”
“What kind of powers?”
“Powers that’ll get you home.”
“Why can’t she just show us the trail that leads us out of here? And why does no one else seem to know the way?”
Wirt exhaled and waved his hands about. “We don’t need magic talking birds leading us to fairy godmothers in the mysterious- I’m going to Pottsfield.”
“Yes. Pottsfield. C’mon, Greg.” Scout grabbed the boy’s hand and followed behind her friend.
“What about the favor?” The bird called.
Greg turned to her with a bright smile. “I’ll think of my wish later!”
-------------------------------------------------
Scout irritably sighed at the feeling of claws softly digging into her left shoulder. “Hey,” The bird softly started in her ear. “I think we got off on the wrong foot here. What’s your name?”
“Just call me Scout.”
“Wait, seriously? Scout?”
The girl snapped her head to look at the bird. “Wanna get off on the wrong foot again?”
“Whoo, someone is sassy,” She gently tapped her cheek with her wing. “Well, Scout, you seem like a very capable young lady. What if I say… we ditch these goons and you come with me to Adelaide?”
Scout rolled her eyes and batted the winged creature off of her shoulder. “Then I say no. Never.”
Rolling her eyes, the bluebird huffed and flew next to Greg, no doubt attempting to convince the poor boy to ditch his brother and walk off with some stranger. Scout knew that Greg was smarter than that, better than that, so she didn’t bother scolding the bird. Noticing her now flapping above his shoulder, the boy brightly smiled. “So, let’s small talk. My name’s Greg. What’s yours?”
“Beatrice.”
“My brother’s name is Wirt.”
“Who cares?”
Wirt frowned and glanced at them over his shoulder. Scout sighed and shook her head.
“And my frog’s name is Wirt Jr.” Greg gently rubbed his frog’s back. “But that may change.”
“Okay. That’s great,” Beatrice lowered her voice as to not alert the two teens in front of them. “How about you and I ditch your brother and his girlfriend?”
Greg hummed in uncertainty and looked away. “Maybe later.”
Scout nearly tripped over a large pumpkin nestled within the patch they walked through. Wirt didn’t notice this and kept his gaze forward. “So, Scout, you’ll do the talking when we get there. Right?”
Huffing, the girl placed her hands on her hips. “If I must, you big wuss.”
“I-I’m not a wuss! I just- Aha!” He cheered and raised his fists triumphantly, the four now standing just above a town. “Civilization, see? Now-”
Scout tried to warn him, but the teen had walked right into a pumpkin. She watched silently with narrowed eyes as he kicked and wiggled his leg out of the vegetable before flinging it to the side. Regaining his composure, he turned forward and set his fists on his hips. “Alright. Let’s rejoin society.”
The “society” the group had walked into lacked one element. A society. There were plenty of houses littering the land, yet not a soul in sight. Rounding a corner, they walked between two houses as Wirt called out for any residents. “Hello? Hello? Hm… See anybody?”
“No,” Greg scanned the area before his eyes landed on his brother. “Oh! I see you!”
Without gaining the others’ attention, Scout slipped away to check inside the houses. They seemed… cozy. Each house was the same; small, single-roomed, and nearly empty. “These townsfolk need to invest in… well, everything…” Scout whispered as she shut the door to the fourth house she inspected.
“Scout!” Wirt called from beside a haystack. “Find anything?”
“Poor interior design, but nothing to help us.” She sighed before joining her friend at his side. “Where’s Greg?”
As if on cue, the young boy poked his head out of the haystack. “Do you hear that?”
From a barn within the distance, cheerful singing could be heard. Scout gasped and helped Greg out of the hay, frowning at the small pumpkin he must have stepped in a while ago, still on his foot. Shaking off her confusion, she let the boy keep his new shoe and followed Wirt into the barn. Peeking in, the group set their sights on something otherworldly.
The townsfolk- is that what they were?- were pumpkins. Well, their bodies were made of pumpkins, string, and actual clothing like hats. Each person had a distinct face drawn onto their pumpkin face, which sent a chill down Scout’s spine. Within the barn, the folk participated in all kinds of activities. Dancing around a tall string object, bobbing for apples, peeling apples, unhusking corn. The likes. They seemed lively, carefree.
“Oh, pardon me there.” A figure spoke as they shoved themselves between a frozen Scout and Wirt. Turning, one of the pumpkin townsfolk faced the group. “Say, you folks ought to don your vegetables and celebrate the harvest with us.”
“Uh… Oh! You’re wearing costumes!” Wirt realized.
“Well, sure. Pumpkins can’t move on their own. Can they?” He shrugged before walking away. Scout gripped Greg’s hand as she watched the pumpkin man go.
“Huh… Well, good thing you’re still wearing that pumpkin shoe, huh Greg?”
Said boy grinned up at Scout. “Yeah! I’m dressed for the occasion!”
Beatrice blinked. “You guys find this place as creepy as I do, right?”
“Absolutely.”
Wirt shrugged as if to reassure himself. “So, it’s some kind of weird cult where they wear vegetable costumes and… dance around a big thing. They seem nice enough.”
Feeling the hollow eyes of one of the townsfolk on her, Scout absentmindedly shuffled closer to Wirt. “There’s something off…”
“Well, maybe I can find someone here who will give us a ride home,” Wirt patted her shoulder comfortingly. “Scout, watch Greg. Greg, listen to Scout. Beatrice, thank you, but you can leave.” He waved the bird off.
Beatrice sighed. “I can’t leave. I’m honor-bound to help you since you helped me. That’s the- bluebird rules.”
Scout raised a brow as Wirt hummed and walked away. Greg’s eyes trailed up to his tea kettle hat that Beatrice sat upon. “Beatrice, did you know that Scout is the best dance partner ever known to man?”
“Awe, shucks, Greg…” Scout chuckled and let the boy lead her onto the dance floor.
“I’m not dancing with you.” Beatrice snipped, but Scout only grinned.
“Yes, you are.”
“No, I’m not.”
“It’s too late,” She giggled as she and Greg twirled to the music. “We’ve already started.”
Beatrice rolled her eyes and watched as Greg and Scout joined hands with the frog before dancing in a small circle. The bird noted that there was no way she was going to separate the girl from the young boy. She clearly cared about him, if she was willing to dance around like a fool in the middle of a festival hosted by pumpkin people. And not giving any lip about it, at that. Instead, she threw her head back and laughed joyfully with Greg just before a voice broke out and silenced the entire room.
“Leave Pottsfield?! Who wants to leave Pottsfield?!”
The second the townsfolk began crowding around them, Scout pulled Greg into her side, whipping her head in every direction. Greg, oblivious to the danger, smiled casually. “Oh, are we leaving already?”
“Let’s leave immediately!” Beatrice yelled just before the barn went dark. Someone had shut the doors, trapped them in.
“I’m just trying to get home.” Scout heard Wirt’s shaking voice just before he bumped into her side.
The townsfolk backed the group into a wall of more pumpkin heads and bodies as they whispered out,
“They’re not supposed to be here.”
“Maybe he’s here to steal our crops.”
“To ruin our party.”
“Or take off our pumpkin shoes!” Greg chirped, gesturing to his trapped foot.
Wirt widened his eyes and shook his head. “Uh, no. I, uh-”
A deep voice from above chuckled. “Now, hold on, everybody. Heh. Let’s not jump up to any conclusions.”
It appeared that the tall stringed object had not been an object at all. In fact, it was a body for the most menacing-looking pumpkin-folk in the entire barn. He had to crouch just to peek through the shadows, his face drawn to show a large grin of wide teeth, hollow eyes staring into the souls of the children before him.
Wirt and Scout instantly joined hands out of fear.
“Enoch,” The townsfolk who ratted them out called. “What shall we do with them?”
“Now, let’s see here, children,” Enoch detached two strings from the ceiling to act as his arms. “How’d you end up in this little town of ours?”
In a jumbled mess, Wirt and Scout spoke over each other,
“We needed to get home-”
“We were lost in the woods-”
“Then we saw your farms-”
“And your very interesting houses and thought that this was a normal place to ask for help.”
“And we all stepped on pumpkins!” Greg grinned before Scout shook her head.
“I-I didn’t! I didn’t step on any pumpkins!”
Wirt tightened his hold on her hand. “Yeah! Well… Yeah! A-And then we heard the music from the barn, and well… uh…”
“What if we just left?” Scout tried.
Enoch chuckled yet again, contradicting the very tense atmosphere within the barn. “Now, let me get this straight: you come to our town, you trample our crops, you interrupt our private engagement, and now you wanna leave?”
She blinked. “Well, when you put it like that, it makes us look bad…”
“You’ll never convict! You have no proof!” Greg shouted, almost tripping on the pumpkin his foot resided in.
The same elderly townsfolk walked over to the group, a struggling Beatrice in his hands. “This one’s trying to escape!”
“Let me go!” She cried out. “I don’t know these clowns!”
“Children,” Enoch started. “It saddens me that you don’t wish to stay here with us… particularly because I simply have to punish you for your transgressions.”
“I knew it,” Scout whispered in Wirt’s ear. “I knew they were messed up here.”
Enoch started out his next words in a sing-song tune. “So, by the order of the Pottsfield Chamber of Commerce, I find you guilty of trespassing, destruction of property, disturbing the peace… and murder.”
“Murder?!” The teens shrieked.
“Oh, no, not murder,” Enoch snorted. “But for those other crimes, I sentence you to…”
Scout held her breath.
“A few hours of manual labor.”
And then slowly let it out.
-------------------------------------------------
“Is that the last of it?” Scout asked after plunging her rake into the ground.
“Yup. That’s all the hay. Wirt wiped a line of sweat from his forehead. “Guess that means we move onto… picking the pumpkins, right?”
“Girl!” A voice shouted out. The group turned to see a townsfolk walking up to them. “Not so fast, young lady. We need you for a special job.”
Scout and Wirt shared a look. “What… kind of special job?”
“We need a scarecrow. Need someone with nimble fingers. Gather this hay here and follow me.”
“Uh, yes, sir.” Scout quickly dumped the pile of hay into a wheelbarrow and pushed it behind the retreating pumpkin figure. She sent a reassuring smile over her shoulder at her friends. This seemed to almost do the job for Wirt, the poor boy wringing his hands together.
“She’ll be fine…”
After picking pumpkins, loading them onto a wagon, and then being bullied by turkeys (this was specifically Wirt), the group minus Scout was directed to the cornfield, baskets in hand. When approaching the clearing, the three reared back at the horrible figure displayed before them.
Its haunting grin stretched across its straw face, gangly limbs made of hay and straw, the body propped on a wooden pole. The top of its head lay open, some hay trickling from it. Beside the scarecrow was a ladder, now being climbed by Scout, who beamed at the boys and Beatrice. “Hey, there!”
“Whoo, that thing sure is ugly.” Beatrice whistled.
“He’s my pride and joy.”
Wirt wordlessly started picking the corn as Greg ran up to his friend. “Scout! I missed you so much! You missed it! The turkeys took Wirt’s hat right off his head and wore it! You should’ve seen the way Wirt jumped all around to get it-”
“Alright, Greg, that’s enough.” Wirt muttered. When Scout cackled, he snapped his head up to her. “Hey, what’re you laughing at? Your scarecrow’s head isn’t even closed! He looks like… like he’s lost his mind! Ha!”
“Stop worrying about my scarecrow and worry about your corn!” Scout pointed at him just before a stalk of corn Greg let go of had smacked the teen in his face. Wirt cried out and fell onto his back. He turned his head to the side to see Beatrice smirking at him. “Hey, guys?” Scout quietly called.
“Yeah?” Wirt turned to his friend, who stared off in the distance.
“They’re watching us like hawks…”
Once their work in the cornfield was finished, the four were sent to a large mass of empty land. Their only instruction: dig holes. Seeing as Greg was a very young and short-spanned kid, Scout took it upon herself to help the boy dig his hole and Wirt dug his own. “Scout?” Greg quietly called out, slightly winded from the work. “What if we find buried treasure?”
The girl hummed. “You think that’s why they’re having us do this? To find treasure?”
“Could be,” He shrugged before gasping. “Wait, that means we’re doin’ all the hard work and they get the pay!”
“The ways of the world, Gregory.” Scout tapped his nose. “But I’ll let you snag some.”
The two shared a laugh before Scout plunged her shovel into the ground, coming into contact with something. “Oh, hey, I found something!” She gasped.
“Buried treasure! Wirt!” Greg called out, catching the attention of his brother and their bluebird companion. “Scout found buried treasure!”
“Whoa, really?” Wirt awed as Scout ducked down to check what she found. “See, Beatrice? What’d you find, Scout?”
Wirt and Beatrice hadn’t expected to hear the girl’s frightened scream. They both flinched at the sound as Scout’s head popped up. “Greg, don’t touch it! Oh, god, get me out of here!”
“What?! What is it?!” Wirt widened his eyes and watched as Scout scrambled her way out of the hole. Greg smiled and shifted his body to reveal the skeleton laying in the hole.
“A skeleton!”
“Don’t touch it, Greg!” Scout warned. “We don’t know who that is!”
Wirt moved back and cried out in fear as Beatrice raised her brows, slightly amused. “We’re digging our own… I-I-I was wrong. I was wrong all along. I-I don’t know how to get us home. U-Use your little feet to pick our locks!”
“Oh, ho! Now you want my help?” Beatrice sassed.
“I don’t want your help-”
“Yes, he does!” Scout shouted. “Beatrice, please! At least get Greg out first!”
Any other words of plea died on her tongue at the sight of Enoch’s form moving towards them from a distance. Wirt whirled back to Beatrice, terrified. “Yes, she’s right, I want your help! Beatrice, serio-”
“Your time is up!”
“Aah!” Wirt screamed at the whole town who now crowded them once again. Scout sank back down into the hole and pulled Greg close. Shaking in his spot, Wirt stared up at Enoch, who only glanced down at the holes.
“Have the holes been dug?” A townsperson asked.
“Uh… yeah.”
“Splendid! Well, then-”
“But no.”
“No?”
Wirt blinked down at his feet before snapping his head back up to the townsfolk. “Right! Yeah… Uh, you know, we were digging, and there were too many rocks. You guys don’t like rocks, right?”
Scout narrowed her eyes as they all agreed with Wirt. “What is he doing…? We need to get out of here.”
Within the next second, Beatrice flew down into their hole, her foot free of its chain. As Wirt continued to babble, she freed Greg and then Scout, the three (plus the frog) booking it out of Pottsfield. By the time they were back in the woods, Scout’s chest burned and her leg pulsed in pain. Leaning against a tree, she sighed out and scanned the area around her. “W-Where’s Wirt?”
“Uh… Back with the pumpkin people?” Beatrice shrugged.
“What- Why?! Did you free him?!”
“Yes! I don’t know what that fool is doing!”
Scout let out a grunt of frustration. “Okay, okay. Just… watch Greg, don’t move. I’ll be right back!” She turned on her heel and rushed back towards the empty field. Cutting through the grass, she found her friend lying on his side. “Wirt!” She whispered.
He whipped his head to her, eyes wide and angry. “Where the heck did you guys go?!”
“We escaped! Why didn’t you?!”
“You guys just left me!”
Scout rolled her eyes and pulled Wirt to his feet, the boy realizing his ankle was free of its chain all this time. Dumbfounded, he let her lead him back into the woods. When he snapped back into reality, he broke into a sprint, eventually making his way to his brother and Beatrice. Bracing his hands on his knees, he took very deep breaths. “Are they chasing us?”
“No.”
He let out one last breath before standing up straight. “I-I thought you guys-”
“You’re welcome.” Beatrice smiled a bit. Wirt bowed his head.
“Thank you… I guess we’re even now, huh? You aren’t honor-bound to help us anymore?”
“I wish,” She rolled her eyes. “But you weren’t actually in any danger with those weirdos.”
Wirt grinned. “Oh, yeah! Then you still have to help us get home!”
“I got it!” Greg picked up his frog. “I wish Wirt Jr had fingernails so he could play the guitar better!”
A beat of silence passed before a voice cut through, “An odd time to tune in.”
The three turned to Scout, who approached them with a limp. Wirt frowned at this. “You weren’t running with me?”
“No, I told you they weren’t chasing us.”
“O-Oh…”
Beatrice hummed and turned back to Wirt. “So… yeah! I’ll bring you to Adelaide. I mean, that’s where I’m going anyway.”
As they began their journey ahead, Wirt wrapped Scout’s arm around his waist to support her. “Oh, yeah? What’re you going to Adelaide for?” The girl asked with a small smile.
“I guess, in some ways, I’m trying to get home, too.”
“That’s vague,” Wirt tilted his head. “What does that mean?”
“I don’t have to tell you anything.”
Scout sharply inhaled. “Touchy…”
“Well, I sure hope Adelaide is more helpful than that Woodsman was. I think his directions were… not very good.”
Scout nodded her head in agreement, leaning into Wirt’s shoulder as they continued down the autumn-decorated wood.

Fort Richmond
No one has said yes to pillow fights with Coach Lasso yet. Mostly because they're all a little nervous about what exactly a Lasso Special pillowfight would involve.
And also because Isaac did some digging and found a video of Beard at Tennessee State University Pillowfight championships absolutely whaling on a guy three times his size in something that looked more like a cage fight with feathers than a "Tee hee, lets braid each other's hair and talk about boys" pillowfight one would expect from a lifetime of cultural osmosising the actions of mysterious silly and strange teenage girls from TV.
The fact the other three girls on Beard's team where even more ruthless meant the team tended to err on the side of not getting your head kicked in the day before a match.
Movie night though.
Movie night can be bloody brilliant.
They're in this hotel up near Leeds. Its a nice place, kind of old wood homey rather than a chain motel. The kind of place you could take fifty boy scouts and have them camp in a single room and not worry about the floorboards.
Its got these great giant couches with wide arms that you can sit on or balance a whole mug of tea which is how you know its a good couch. And there are piles of blankets near a basket by the fire for any old guests who haven't had to run ten miles in the freezing Cardiff rain.
They're watching Coraline, which is fucking brilliant but also Colin is switching entirely to zip up clothes forever now. He didn't think he could get a button phobia from a movie and he's kind of sandwiched between Isaac and the arm of the chair when Isaac gets up to take a piss and check in with the gaffer and suddenly Colin's side is much colder and the Other Mother is looming large and scary on the screen and this is not great when a fleecy blanket hits him in the side of the head and flops open over him.
"Oi!" He squeaks which means Jamie (who's been staring somewhere near his phone and not at the screen while he takes some deep breaths) looks over where he's propped on the arm of the chair beside him and smirks, "Hiding under a blanket Colin? Movie too much for ya?"
Another blanket hits Jamie and the door to the bathroom swings shut behind Isaac as Colin flaps out the blanket, "Fuck off," He retorts, draping the cheap fleece over the arms and side of the couch, "I'm making a cubby,"
This armchair is massive, with the blanket open its like a little tent all snuggly under here and he can stretch his feet onto Isaac's side and curl up and have a nap.
There is a loud screech and the cushion under his feet is ripped away as Jamie shoves the chair he's been leaning on (with a startled Dani sitting on the back) closer to Colin's seat.
"You can't just throw a blanket over yourself and call it a cubby," He scorns, dropping the cushion between the chairs and draping his own blanket over the gap between the arms, "You have to actually make it not the thing it was before," He crawls into the space and lays down with his arms behind his head, "See? Actual cubby,"
"Si amigo," Dani agrees, fetching two more blankets and a broom for some fucking reason, "Though if we turn the couches back to back and hold the blankets up with this-" he brandishes the broom, "We can make a space large enough for the three of us!"
"How are you going to keep the broom upright?" Jan asks from behind Jamie and Dani's face falls.
"Why would we make a space on the floor when we can push them facing each other and prop the broom up between the cushions?" Colin suggests, partly because Jamie is right but he's not getting beaten at cubby making by him of all people.
They shove the couches together as quietly as possible which is not very, and make a little tent for the four of them, sitting inside it like they're ten years old and camping in the back yard, not twenty something football stars playing an away game.
"You call that a blanket fort?" Thierry scorns from the row in front of them, and they have to make a grab for the broom when it slips after all four of them stick their heads out, "You should put another chair at the end so you can make a tunnel in,"
The four currently in the cubby look at one another and at one of the wide armchairs contemplatively, "Fort Colin could do with an entrance," Colin agrees.
"Fort Colin?" Jamie scoffs, "Nah mate, your little sleeping bag wasn't a fort, we're calling this Fort Tartt."
That is a declaration of war and Colin will be first to the battlefield when-
"Or Fart for short," Jan smiles around the group and Jamie wilts.
"Fine, but we're not calling it fucking Fort Colin,"
Colin, founding member of the Fort Colin cubby would beg to disagree but Sam is crouching over with Bumbercatch and a couple of the other players, "Hey guys," He whispers, "Can we join in? We have blankets?" And he holds up the basket full of fleece.
"Bring some cushions too," Dani suggests and suddenly there is a flurry of activity as every couch in the room is dragged hither and yon and blankets are thrown over every available surface, making a maze of seats and cushions while credits play in the background.
From the back corner Beard is watching them with inscrutable eyes.
A fight nearly breaks out between Thierry and Jan over where to place one of the three tall props when there are footsteps and a clunk as a dining chair is dropped into the middle of the gap between Fort Colin (original) and its sister cubby Chateau de Montlaur, "You'll need to make sure you have a central connecting point," Is all Beard says with flat intonation, and goes back to the table he's seated at with Nate.
The players look at one another and start tying blankets to the high points of the chair back. Bumbercatch's headband is valiantly sacrificed for the cause and the final blanket is thrown in place, eighteen fit young men crouched, curled and huddled up on cushions and between couches inside their collective cubby before the name argument starts up again.
"Thierry Tower!"
"Rojas Palace!"
"Goal Keep" Gets some interest but then-
"Fort Richmond," Sam suggests.
There is a consideration of nodding and contemplating before they all agree and O'Brien knocks his emtpy tea mug against the side of one couch to christen it as the door to the room slams open again.
"Oi where's my fucking seat?" Isaac demands.

Maybe "Who made you cry?" With Hunter? idk why but I think it fits
Sorry this took me a while! I’m not sure how it turned out, it felt a little corny in the moment
Hunter x girl (lol idk what to put, it’s not OC or reader, just a lot of she/her pronouns)  | 1.3k words
“Who made you cry?” from this prompt list.
Tumblr media
It was her laugh that had done him in.
Bright and cheerful and full of heart. It was infectious, compelling anyone fortunate enough to hear it to want to join in. It was like she radiated this warmth, this light, and the sound of it echoed within his mind long after he'd left her.
It was a fairly short mission, more of an exploration than anything, but it took him and his brothers away from her village long enough for him to realize just how attached he'd become to the girl. He had never planned on falling for anyone. This life of his was far too dangerous and chaotic and busy and unfair for him to even entertain the idea that he could include someone else in it. But there she was, seemingly waiting for him to show up to her planet on some random mission so they could finally complete each other. He had held himself back as long as he could, kept his feelings properly ignored....
And then she had laughed.
He dreamed about the sound. Could feel it coursing through him like a thousand volts of an impossibly pleasant electrical current. He would never get enough of it, he knew that now, being so far away (the next town over) and for so long (two days). It sure would complicate things, once the full mission was over, but for now he was determined to let himself pursue this... this... whatever this new sensation was called.
So when the scouting trip finally wrapped up and their speeders zipped back across the plain, Hunter had never felt more alive and eager to see someone in his entire, battle-hardened existence.
She was not waiting for him as eagerly as he had hoped. In fact, she was't waiting for him at all. The other villagers casually dismissed her absence, pointing him in directions that were unfruitful and frustrating. He finally stopped taking their advice and put his own tracking stills to use, following his senses through street after street until he finally made out her lovely figure sitting alongside a watering hole. He found himself holding more of his breath as he neared her. Her laugh may had stolen his heart, but her beauty had been the first thing to catch his eye. It was an unconventional beauty, but a beauty nonetheless.
"Hey," he announced himself so he wouldn't scare her. As he said the words, he could feel that something was off. She had a different sort of air about her this time, more subdued and tired. But she quickly tried to cover it up, turning toward him with a smile as welcome as ever.
"You're back," she whispered as if she couldn't believe it. She scooted over to make room for him to join her at the edge of the basin, even though there was no one else around.
"I'm back," he repeated as he settled next to her. He hung his arms awkwardly over his knees.
"Well? Mission success?"
"We got what we needed."
She looked at him with wide, imploring eyes, so he chuckled and began recounting some of the details. He was used to giving mission debriefs, or analyzing things with his brothers for future improvement. But this, this simple act of sharing how his days went, telling a story about a part of his life he all-too-often took for granted, was different territory for him. He found himself glancing at the girl constantly, gauging her reactions to know if he was being too boring or confusing. She maintained her interest, eating up most of his words with such enjoyment... only the details of a minor flesh wound Tech sustained after tripping over a log made her turn up her nose, so Hunter quickly moved on with the story.
"And how about you?" he eventually asked, deciding he'd had enough talking about himself and wanting to hear from her now. Her mood had perked up considerably but he was still concerned about her previous state. "What'd you get up to while we were gone?"
She gave him a knowing look, though he wasn't sure what it was that he was supposed to know by it.
"The first day wasn't so bad," she sighed a little. "The elders had us redistributing supplies most of the day, so that kept me busy... and distracted."
She self-consciously tucked her hair behind her ears, which he only just noticed were flushed.
"But yesterday... It was tough. I didn't feel like doing much. I had a shorter temper. Ended up arguing over nonsense. Cried a few times."
Hunter snapped to attention at that, as if he was back in the training rooms of Kamino being addressed by the commanding officers.
"What? Who made you cry?"
He looked around as if the offender was still nearby, lurking in some unknown shadow. The thought of the sweet and beautiful girl next to him shedding a single tear made him feel annoyed and even a little sick. Who could ever hurt her like that?
It took him longer than he should have to notice she was giggling at his reaction. He frowned down at her, utterly confused.
"What? I just want to know who."
She playfully pushed his shoulder. "You did, silly."
He still didn't understand, which only made her laugh more. There it was, that gorgeous, magical sound he'd been longing to hear again, and yet he couldn't savor it, not when she'd just told him that he had somehow been the cause of her suffering.
"What did I do?"
She shook her head incredulously. "I thought it was obvious...."
When he still didn't show signs of catching on, he could see her face slowly falling, retreating ever so slightly.
"Hunter, I missed you," she said, quiet but confident.
By the way Hunter felt all his senses simultaneously stop and go into overdrive, she might as well have said she loved him. He had never been missed by anyone, ever. And to hear it coming from her, the one person he had missed himself....
But then the reality of what her words meant sunk in. Yes, she cared for him enough to feel glum in his absence, but he didn't ever want her to feel such a thing again. The simple truth still remained: she had cried because of him.
"Oh, hey, I'm... I'm sorry," he found himself moving closer to her, wrapping a protective and soothing arm around the back of her shoulders. "I missed you, too, Cyar'ika."
She lit back up at that and leaned into him. He rested his head atop hers.
"So, so much..." he whispered into her hair.
"What are we going to do, Hunter? It's only a matter of time before you have to leave again, and you won't be coming back. I don't want to keep you from your life, but I just don't know if I can handle it."
He could feel every part of her as she laid against him. Her breath, her heartbeat, her warmth. It grounded him in a way nothing ever had before. His mind was usually active with thoughts and strategies in situations like this, when options were few and far between but the will to find the perfect plan of action was still strong. However, in this moment, that part of him quieted. He couldn't explain it, but he just knew a solution would present itself eventually. There was no need to rush for it now and miss out on the simple peace of the moment.
"We'll figure it out," he reassured her, turning focus to bask in her.
Her beauty had caught his eye, her laugh had captured his heart... and her presence would sustain him. He was sure of it.

The next afternoon after school, I had another meeting. This time with my Father. Carlos Ramirez. We agreed to meet at the cafe (Rise & Grind @littledica & ONLINE ID: littledica ) Mother told him I would be wearing  green jacket. He found me right away sitting over in the back.
CARLOS- “Wow, you really look like Nacha! I do not think you have any of my features.”
MARCO- “Yeah, I get told I look a lot like her.”
CARLOS- “So I assume she told you the reason I could not come around, then?”
MARCO- “Yes, something about my grandmother and your mother.”
CARLOS- “Yes, but she was your grandmother as well, Watcher rest her soul.”
MARCO- “That explains the first five years as to why you chose not to find me, but what about the last ten?
He looked at me with a dumbfounded look and never answered that question.
Tumblr media
CARLOS- “So what grade are you in? I assume you took back after your mother and are pretty good in school, right?
MARCO- I am in 9th grade, and I do pretty good in school, yes. What about your other son? How old is he?”
CARLOS- “Other son?... OH, yes, you mean Jose’, he is ten, 4th grade, I think. He does pretty good, he takes after his mother in that area, but he looks like me. That is one of the reasons It has taken a while for me to get the gumption to finally meet you. You understand trying to raise a kid and working and all.”
MARCO - (He finally answered, lame, but it is an answer) “Yes, I understand. That make sense I suppose.”
Tumblr media
CARLOS - “So Marco, what do you do for fun? Play baseball, football, girls?”
MARCO- “None of that,I am not athletically inclined and girls just don’t seem to be drawn to me all that much, but there is a girl I met here. I am tutoring her in Chemistry.”
CARLOS- “Oh, that is interesting. So not extracurricular activities? Jose’ is in scouts. He really likes that. I never really did when I was a kid, but hey, it keeps him busy.”
MARCO- “Oh, yes I have been in scouting since I was about 7 or 8″
This conversation was harder than pulling teeth. Apparently, Carlos had no idea about being  a teen, but I guess I understood, he lived in a totally different time and he was in an entirely different situation than I am. He also didn’t seem to know too much about his son,Jose’ either. Not even sure what grade he was in?But as the conversation continued, things became even worse.

Chapter 2
Chapter 1
Jason waited on the dancefloor anxiously watching the crowd of people who had just left, ready to pounce on the Sunshine Girl once she exposed herself by exiting the safety of the crowd.  But he hadn’t seen her exit yet.  The crowd had now thinned out enough that he could make out everyone that was still in the group.  She wasn’t one of them. The tablecloths that decorated all the tables did not go all the way to the floor, allowing him to see under the tables.  She wasn’t hiding there either.  There was no sign of her.  She was impossibly gone.
He was so focused on his search, he didn’t notice the wary looks of the people around him watching him as though he might lash out at them at any moment and he wouldn’t have been able to care less even if he had noticed.  He didn’t have a single fuck to spare about their opinions.  He needed to find Sunshine and figure out what the fuck was going on and how he could help.
He felt a weight on his shoulder and spun quickly grabbing the hand, ready to defend himself against whatever it was.  He relaxed slightly when he saw Dick’s surprised and concerned eyes on him, hands held up in a placating gesture, “Hey, it’s just me Jaybird.  What’s going on?  A rogue?” he asked discretely, stepping closer and lowering his voice so nobody else could hear.
Jason’s eyes returned to the crowd, desperately seeking any sign of her, “No… at least I don’t think so.  Do you see a beautiful, short woman with black hair and a short black dress?” She couldn’t have just disappeared.  She had to have gone somewhere, but he had been watching not just the dancefloor but the exits as well.  There was no way he could have missed her.  She wasn’t someone you could miss.  She wasn’t there and she hadn’t left.  Where the fuck was she?
Dick watched Jason cautiously before glancing around the room again.  He was getting concerned about Jason.  He wanted to write it off as a drunken fascination with a girl who walked away or an attempt to disrupt the night, but that wasn’t it.  Drunk Jason was belligerent, well more belligerent than usual, not paranoid and possessive.  Disruptive Jason never bothered to hide his glee at the disruption.  This was something else.
Dick cast a wary eye back into the crowd looking for the girl Jason described.  “I don’t see anyone like that,” he said shaking his head and returning his gaze back to Jason.  He didn’t know what was going on, but clearly that girl was important to whatever it was. They should have known better than to think the night would go smoothly.  He had naïvely thought the worst he would have to worry about was Jason causing a scene for the hell of it, but this was something more.
“Shit!” Jason exclaimed loudly running his hand through his hair and looking down.  He needed to focus on the immediate issues and let the others know their identities had been compromised.  They needed to figure out who she was, what she knew, what she was going to do with the information, and just who the fuck got her involved in all of this, track that mother fucker down and kick the shit out of him for getting her involved in the first place.  Then figure out what was going on in Paris that had caused so much pain she felt responsible for and kick the shit out of that asshole too.
“Sorry about that everyone.  Guess we should have cut the bar off a few drinks ago. Please, continue dancing… and drinking, if you think you can handle it a bit better than him.” Bruce announced loudly with a charming, easy smile for the crowd eliciting a few chuckles from the audience.
“Is this related to what you were asking before?” Tim asked quietly, coming up next to them and scanning the crowd as well, not really sure what he was looking for but searching for anything out of place.
“Yes!  We need to go to the safe room,” Jason growled quietly.  “ALL of us.  Now”
“Did something happen with that girl you can’t find? Did she get taken?  Did she take someone else?”  Dick asked grimly still watching Jason with concern, gauging the breadth of the developing situation.
“Somebody got taken?” Bruce asked joining the conversation.
“Yeah, we did.  Let’s go.  Tim, bring up the cameras for back home,” Jason ordered stalking toward the family safe room without bothering to look at anyone.
“Jason, we were just about to make the announcement. Is it something that can wait?” Bruce asked stepping between Jason and the door to the safe room.
“Gee, I don’t know, B.  Do you think someone figuring us out and breaking into our… home base is something important?” Jason asked snidely without breaking stride.
Selina sauntered over slowly just in time to see Bruce’s stoic expression pale slightly, not enough for the other party goers to notice but enough that the family could see the change and change their attitude accordingly.  “I’ll do some damage control out here,” she said patting Bruce’s shoulder before pushing him slightly toward the family safe room, a room the family had designated as a safe space in case of emergencies.  It was soundproofed, swept for bugs, and was locked to anyone but the family.  It was meant to be a place they could change into their suits in case something happened requiring vigilante activity.  It also had the added benefit of a place they could send Damian before he actually acted on any of the violent thoughts they knew he was having.
“And make sure you take Damian with you.  He looks ready to cut someone’s hand off,” she said with an amused smile.  Damian glared at her as he followed his father to the room.  She heard a faint “trollop” as he passed by, making her smile. At this point, she was taking it as a term of endearment from the little terror.  If he really wanted to hurt her he would go after her with one of his katanas, like he did with his brothers.
By the time the family made it to the room, Tim had already pulled up the live feed to the Batcave on his phone.  He got it connected just in time to see… nothing, absolutely nothing out of place.  The cave was empty, the vehicles were parked, the suits and weapons hung up properly, and the computer was resting.  Nothing remotely concerning, Tim grumbled to himself.  It was bad enough dealing with Jason on patrols but now he had to put up with his bullshit here too.  He didn’t want to be here either, none of them did, but at least he wasn’t actively trying to make the situation worse.
Of course it would amount to nothing.  If anyone had broken into the Batcave his phone, along with everyone else’s, would have alerted them to the trespasser.  He and Barbara had set it up.  There was no way around it.  Nobody could be in the Batcave without them knowing about it.  There was no alarm going off, thus there was no trespasser. This was another of Jason’s paranoid delusions or another way to mess with the family, sabotaging the important night.
As soon as the door to the safe room clicked closed, Bruce turned to Jason with a concerned look, “What is going on, Jason?  What do you think got broken into and who figured us out?”
“There was a woman at the party,” he started unsure how much of the encounter he wanted to relate to them.  Before he could continue there were groans around the room.  He glared at them before continuing louder this time. “She seemed uncomfortable at the gala so I started talking with her.”
“How thoughtful of you.  Completely for her own benefit, I’m sure,” Dick rolled his eyes and shook his head. This damn well better not be about Jason trying to get laid.  There were far less public ways to accomplish that than this.  In fact, Dick had been working on one of those ways when Jason decided to take out an entire table in front of everyone.
“If you assholes are done interrupting,” Jason snapped at them, glowering in frustration.  “Out of nowhere, she suddenly stared hard at you guys for a minute then freaked the fuck out.  I finally got her to say she was there acting as a scout for your,” he pointed at Bruce with a scowl, “lover, so he could break into our place.”
“My what!” Bruce asked confused, “Selina?”
“What the hell, Jason!” Dick exclaimed.  Of course it would be Jason.  Of course Jason would end up with someone who was spying on them.  Jason seemed to attract it.  Even if he wasn’t trying to cause problems, he usually was but even when he wasn’t, they seemed to find him.
“Attempting to bed the enemy, why is that not a surprise, Todd.” Damian scoffed from his seat on the other side of the room.
“Fuck you.  I tried to bring her over when she said that, but she got away.  She kept ranting about a lover’s quarrel and a joke.  Whoever she is working with, she thinks you two know each other and are ‘friendly’, Bruce.  And she definitely did NOT know who we were until that point.”
Tim groaned in frustration.  They took their eyes off of Jason for just a few minutes and now he had to clean up the mess Jason had created.  They were wasting time looking at the batcave instead of looking for this girl.  The batcave was a dead end.  Jason just didn’t want to admit that he let himself get played by some girl.  A girl who he let get away, he might add. “Accident” his ass.  Jason didn’t let anyone get away accidentally.  And now they all had to play along with this delusion.
He looked back at the live feed.  There was still nothing amiss.  He huffed, “She lied to you.  There's nothing going on in the cave.  Not a creature is stirring, not even a mouse,” he gritted out, brandishing his phone around so everyone could see it.  “I told you before, nobody could be there without getting noticed and us knowing immediately.  You got played.  And now someone who KNOWS OUR IDENTITIES is out there and we have no idea how much of a threat she is because you got distracted by a pretty face.”
“It was I goddamn gorgeous face and she got away when I got distracted by you arguing with me instead of just helping,” he growled at Tim.  “And she isn’t a threat.  I’m pretty sure she’s a hero of some kind.” Jason defended.  He wasn’t sure about much of what was happening but the one thing he did know for certain was Pixie Pop was a hero or vigilante. She was trying to protect people and only got angry when she thought they were interfering with that.  She wasn’t a villain and hadn’t been trying to take them down.
“You’ll forgive me if I don’t trust your judgement here,” Damian drawled.
Jason spun to face him red faced in anger.  They weren’t listening.  People were suffering and they were still acting like it was a joke, just like Pixie thought they were.  He opened his mouth to respond but snapped it shut when he heard the door open.  Selina slid through closing the door securely behind her.
“How is it out there?” Bruce asked grimly.
Selina shrugged.  “Everyone bought the cover story easily.  Those looking for a reason were judging, but the rest thought it was cute. They think he's taking after his dear old Dad.  After witnessing you do something similar at almost every gala, ball, dance, opening, party, fundraiser, celebration, and just regular dinners for, what?  A decade?  Two?  They see nothing strange in your son doing the same,” she said with an amused smile, taking a seat next to Tim on a table he was leaning against to get a better angle on the video.
“Disappears for a few years then comes back and gets drunk whenever possible.  It's nostalgic for them.  Jason got your drinking, Dick got your philandering, Tim got your arguing, I believe you prefer to call it ‘negotiating’, and Damian got your looks.” Damian nodded satisfied his description was the only genetic trait and the only one that would not be considered a weakness.  “Not that you aren't all very handsome,” she cooed mockingly, squeezing Tim’s cheeks to accentuate her point.
“Just to check, Selina you didn’t send anyone to spy on us tonight did you?”  Bruce asked annoyed.
“Me?  I haven’t sent anyone to watch you guys for ages.”  Selina said innocently.  “Someone was spying on you guys?”
“That’s still up for debate, but regardless Jason said this girl knew our identities so we should try to track her down, assess the danger we and she are in… after the announcement.”  Bruce was tired before this all started, this did not help.  Dick, Tim, and Damian started to protest but Bruce held up a hand stopping them, “if she was intending to do something she would have made the threat to Jason or come up to us to extort us.  She didn’t so either she’s waiting for us to make a move she can jump on or…” he took a deep breath, “or, she had no idea and doesn’t intend to do anything with it.  I’m more concerned with whoever sent her.  That is who we need to find and we find that person through her.  As soon as the announcement is over, Tim, I want you checking security cameras to track her.”
Tim rolled his eyes and pushed off of the table he was leaning against, taking one last look at the live feed.  “Okay, this break has been fun.  I’m going back to the party.  Jason, just go home and sleep it..." his sentence tapered off as he watched a silvery, rippling portal open near the bat computer.  His eyes widened and his jaw dropped open in shock.  Holy shit, Jason had been right.  "What the fuck!  Bruce!  Look at this.  Dick turn on the television there.”  He pushed a few buttons on his phone and sent the image to display on the TV.
The family watched in shocked silence as a figure emerged from the shimmering pool with an enraged look on their face and hands clenched at their sides.  They stared at the figure trying to decide if they remembered ever having seen them before. The figure was wearing a full body suit in varying shades of brown that seemed heavily padded for protection. Their hair was pulled back into a series of long ponytails forming something reminiscent of a horse’s mane that flowed down their back.  The most unsettling thing about the figure, other than that they were in the cave without permission, was their expression. Even with half of their face obscured by a pair of pince-nez sunglasses, the angry expression was clear.  They glared at the computer but made no move to get closer.
“I fucking told you she was telling the truth!” Jason yelled pointing at the screen for emphasis.
Dick growled and turned to leave but Bruce stopped him holding up a finger to indicate he should wait.  “Can’t do anything without a car anyway.  Call for the car and watch until it gets close.”  Dick nodded and pulled out his phone to call Alfred.
Dick nearly dropped the phone when the figure suddenly yelled “Come out and face me you coward!” in the general direction of the computer as the portal behind them disappeared.
“What the fuck?” Tim whispered confused.  “Do they think there we’re there and camouflaged?”
“Or can they see something we can’t?”  Dick contemplated staring hard at the scene in front of him. The figure wasn’t moving to do anything to the equipment in the cave, wasn’t trying to damage it or investigate it. They were focused on something else, something none of them in the room could see.
They all froze when out of the ether they heard a man’s voice respond. “You ready for them to know we’re here, Spots?”
“Oh, they already know,” the figure growled out.
“Ah, that didn’t take as long as I thought it would,” the voice responded.  “Okay Trixx. Might as well drop it then.”
As soon as he said the words, it was like a curtain dropped and suddenly a man in a trench coat was standing in front of a very active bat computer.  Alarms sounded throughout the safe room, as all of their phones rang out with trespassing alerts.
“What the hell?” Tim exclaimed.  “The computer was on sleep mode just a second ago.”  He brought his phone closer to his face trying to examine the scene better. He and Barbara had designed the system to detect changes in visual, audio, thermal, and electronic signals as well as vibrations caused by any movement.  Whatever they were using had somehow interrupted detection for all of those. “How the hell did they do that?”
Jason ignored the room devolving into chaos behind him, deciding to study the figure in front of the computer instead.  The hair and trench coat were very familiar.  “Is that Constantine?” Jason asked.
“You absolute bastard!  What was that?” the figure yelled gesturing vaguely behind them and stalking closer to the man.
“Yeah, that sounds like Constantine,” Bruce shook his head, resigned to the situation. “Tell Alfred there isn’t a rush.  Constantine won’t try to do anything he hasn’t already done.”
“You going to hit me while you're like that, Spots? Bit unfair don't you think?” Constantine said barely glancing over to her from the computer.
The figure stared at him shaking in rage for a few seconds before forcing out, something that sounded like “dismount” through gritted teeth. A blinding wave of sea green light engulfed the figure.  When the light faded, a woman in a long red dress and the same glasses as the other figure was standing where the figure had been.  She removed the glasses and shoved them in her purse before returning her glare to the man at the computer.
“That’s her!” Jason yelled, pointing at the screen.  “That’s the woman I was dancing with.  Different dress but same woman.”
“Well at least now we know why she thought it was a prank when she figured us out, assuming she knows who he is, which I assume is why she is working with him in the first place, so she does.” Bruce said rubbing his forehead to ease the quickly oncoming headache.  Whenever Constantine got involved things went to Hell, sometimes literally, very quickly and Bruce had not had enough sleep or bourbon to deal with this.  Contrary to his reputation, he rarely drank but this situation, this situation, whatever the hell it was, justified a drink.
“Fuck!  No wonder I couldn’t find her.  She somehow pulled a fucking Houdini and changed her entire appearance.” Jason yelled exasperated.
Constantine typed a few more things on the computer before finally facing her nonchalantly “Not to change the subject but that is a really good glare. Scarier than Batman, honestly.  I could feel it through the back of my head.  I’m this close to being intimidated,” he said holding his thumb and index finger close together.  “I swear, if you keep glaring at me that…” before he could finish his sentence the woman had delivered a strong right hook directly to his jaw.
Constantine fell backwards, knocking into the chair positioned next to the computer, sending it spinning away on his way down, landing on his hands and knees.  He gently rubbed his jaw with a wince and looked back up at her with a raised eyebrow. “Yeah, fair enough.” He slowly stood back up using the chair and computer to help support him on his way up. “Have fun, kid? Meet any cute boys? Girls? Thems? Guess never asked which way you swing.”
The woman responded by kicking him hard in the chest with a suddenly bare foot.  He fell back against the computer from the impact with a surprised grunt.  Before he could get up she moved her foot on his throat to hold him there, braced against the computer.  She had been careful to place her foot flush on his throat but he wasn’t making any noises so she wasn’t pushing hard on it.  The family were all familiar with the move.  It didn’t allow him to move but did allow him to speak. A good questioning position.
“You left some valuable details out of the multiple briefings we had.  Weeks where you could have mentioned them.  Details like you could have just ASKED for this if you weren’t such a fucking self-absorbed coward.” She seethed at him.
Jason made a gurgling sound as he watched her stand over Constantine, suddenly feeling flushed.  He had not expected her to be able to take down a grown man like that, like it was second nature, effortless.  Two quick moves and he was at her mercy.  He couldn’t stop picturing himself in Constantine’s place, at her mercy, and that thought alone made his heart race and breathing more difficult.  The things she could do to him… He shook his head of the highly enjoyable thought.  Now was not the time for that.
“You know, I’m pressing a lot of buttons here,” Constantine croaked out.  “I might have to restart the whole process if you’re not careful.  Would take time.  Maybe enough for the whole family to return.”
“Fuck you.” She growled at him retracting her leg so he could stand up properly.
“Oh I swing all ways except that way. You may be legal, technically, but you're still a kid and I'm not a pedo.” He rubbed his throat as he straightened back up.  To the surprise of those in the room who knew him, he didn’t react at all. He seemed to accept the attack as justified and turned back around and got back to work on the computer.  Not that they were expecting him to attack back physically but Constantine was never had nothing to say, except now.
“You're an asshole.” She glared at him again crouching down to put her shoe back on.
“Well, yeah, but even assholes have standards.  By the way, really impressed you didn’t fall over there. Standing on one stilettoed leg without falling or losing your modesty?  Impressive. So you never did say, how did it go? Assuming you are done now.”
The family tensed for another attack when they saw her jump into a battle stance.  They watched confused as she switched to a crouching position and started cooing at nothing.  After a few moments, they saw what had drawn her attention.  Alfred the cat had jumped onto the computer like he was chasing after something.
“How the hell did your cat get into the cave?” Tim demanded from Damian.  “He better not mess with anything on the computer.”
“If that second rate concubine touches a hair on Alfred, I will cut her fingers off one at a time.” Damian growled at the screen.
Bruce squeezed the bridge of his nose, “Not quite the Alfred I would have hoped would intervene…”
Constantine looked over at the cat and grunted, “Not looking for a trip to Hell today, but thanks for the offer.  Scat.”  He shooed the cat away and turned to go back to his work on the computer.
The woman looked back at Constantine and frowned at him, “I don’t know if I’m done yet.  I’m still deciding,” she said snidely.  “And don’t you dare go anywhere near this poor cat.”  Alfred trotted over to the woman, keeping his eyes on Constantine the whole way.  When he got to the woman he rubbed up against her legs and looked up at her with a meow.
She reached down to pet the cat gently and start talking to him quietly.
“Holy shit, Demon Spawn.  I think the cat likes her better than you.” Jason laughed.  Bruce put his hand on Damian’s shoulder when he jumped up to charge at Jason.
“No bloodshed tonight, please.  And Jason, stop antagonizing him,” he admonished both of them.  This was shaping up to be the worst gala they’ve had.  And they’ve had galas attacked by rogues before.  That was still more pleasurable than whatever was going on here. Yep, that was definitely the beginning of a migraine he was feeling.
Constantine grunted out a single laugh.  “Yeah, right.  Because you can hold a grudge.”
She stared hard at Constantine for a few moments before something seemed to click in her head.  “Oh my God, he was right.  I was only there because you wanted me to get out and have fun, figuring I’d forgive you for the convoluted plans and the wait.”
“Is that so bad?  You’re still a kid, you should have fun at some point in your life.  Also, who is ‘he’?”
“So you gave me homework?  Are you so old you forget homework is not fun?  Or did they not have things like homework or school when you were my age?” She snarked annoyed, ignoring the last part of the question.
“No they didn’t have homework WAY back then, or paper, we just grunted to each other and absorbed information through osmosis,” he shot her a sour look.  “And fun wasn’t my only goal, but it was an important one.  Why, didn’t have fun?”
“Oh no, I did.  Until I remembered it isn’t something I get to keep, remembered that nothing about tonight sticks except that device,” she said pointing to something on the computer. “Everything about tonight is just an illusion because I haven’t been good enough, because I failed.  Thanks for that reminder.”  A guilty look flashed across her face before returning back to a glare.  “The remaining part of the night was focused on keeping tabs on the Waynes and fending off entitled pricks’ wandering hands,” she said slowly as if explaining something that should have been obvious.
A dark shadow passed over Constantine’s face.  He turned his focus from the computer for a moment to address her directly, “That is not on you.  None of that is on you.  Whatever the fuck your overactive conscious tells you.  That fucking conscious of yours is going to get you killed then I’m going to have to go to Hell to get you out.  I don’t enjoy Hell.  DO NOT make me go back.” He scolded her.  “For the hands, get any names?  I know a few demons looking for someone to… play with.  It wasn’t any of the Wayne kids, right?”
“You wanted me to meet the Waynes, didn’t you?” she narrowed her eyes in accusation.  “Why would you tell me to NOT get noticed by them if you wanted me to meet them?  How was that supposed to happen if I was avoiding them?  Did you really think I was so completely incompetent? ”
“No, I thought you were that gorgeous and innocent looking.  A combination that is impossible for any Wayne to ignore.” He sighed and glanced away seeming to brace himself for the conversation they were about to have.  “I needed you to think you shouldn’t get noticed because otherwise there was no reason for you to go instead of Chat.  And I needed you to go because not only do you need the break but precisely because you were going to get noticed by at least one of the Waynes and noticed in a very particular way that Chat wouldn’t.” he said waggling his eyebrows at her.
“I thought it would take longer than it did, but at some point, one of the boys was going to take an interest in you and talk to you.  And you being you would figure out their identities and tell him everything.  You’re brilliant and noble like that,” he said sneering at the word noble, making it sound like the most disgusting word he had ever had to utter.
“The youngest was the least likely to act but he is a bit young for you anyway.  The next one is as smart and focused-on-the-mission-at-the-expense-of-all-other-things as you, so I thought you might get along. The next one is as much of a smartass and has the same fuck-you-to-authority, sarcastic attitude as you, so I thought you two might click.  The oldest is as annoyingly sunshiney as you, so that seemed like it might work. Honestly, I thought he was the safest bet since he hits on everything with tits… Unless he was the one you were speaking with in which case, what I meant to say was… uh… keep an eye on him if cheating bothers you.”
Dick gave an offended gasp at the accusation.
“Yeah, totally unfair description.  You don’t require tits to hit on someone.” Jason said clapping him on the back
“I don't know that I like the idea of you dating any of them. But it would have gotten them involved without me breaking my promise because, I have said nothing,” Constantine said glancing back towards her for a moment. “But it sounds like you did,” he said with a cocky grin.
“Asshole,” she sneered at him sitting on the floor to get into a better position to pet Alfred.
“Yeah, but an asshole that keeps his word.”  He focused back on the computer and clicked around for a few more minutes before discretely glancing over at her, “Sooooo, did being here make you change your mind?”
“Nothing about tonight made me change my mind about bringing in outside help but it did make me reconsider the wisdom of allowing your interference.” She said shaking her head and glaring at him.
“Oh for fuck’s sake!” he growled out hitting the computer in frustration.  He rounded on her and stalked over to her, looming over her.  “Fuck the goddamned, mother fucking mission for ONCE.  Your life is supposed to be more than the fucking suit. Did being in Gotham make you rethink turning down that acceptance letter?”
“What?” She looked at him wide eyed in surprise but didn’t seem scared of his sudden outburst unlike Alfred who jumped up and hissed at him as he approached.
Constantine sighed sitting down near her and looked away seeming to examine thin air over her shoulder, “I know you got accepted to go here but turned it down because of Paris,” he said quietly.
Her lips pressed together in a thin line and turned her head to glare at the same point in the air, “How did you know that?”
“Your partners are worried about you. You turned it down because of the situation in Paris.  You can’t let that be the only thing in your life.  You got accepted everywhere.  You could go anywhere and you should.  Come on, if Gotham didn’t do it for you I can talk to people in Metropolis, Jump City, Central City, Starling City… Just somewhere out of Paris.”
Her eyes flared but she gave out a resigned sigh.  “I liked you better when you didn’t care about us.” She said with a wry smile, suddenly finding the cat at her feet batting at the air to be the most interesting thing in the room.
“I still don’t,” he said unconvincingly as he backing up and returning to the computer.
She let out a doubtful scoff but continued to pet Alfred. After a few moments of silence she cocked her head to the side and looked up at Constantine with an impish smirk. “Awfully coincidental that all those cities have heroes that are roughly my age.  You trying to set me up with more superheroes?  First a bat now a titan?  Or were you leaning more towards an arrow?”
“With Roy!  God no. Jason is as depraved as I am willing to let you go.” Constantine sounded offended.
“Jason is NOT depraved!” she exclaimed affronted.
“Ahh, so it was Jason…” he said looking over his shoulder to throw her a cocky smile.
“Fuck you.” She grumbled with no heat behind it, returning her focus to Alfred, much to his apparent pleasure.
“Already said no to that.  But, if it was Jason, I sincerely hope they were watching that move you pulled when you first came in because he is going to be panting after you after seeing that.”
Her cheeks flushed brightly and Jason preened at causing her to blush even without being there.  She let out annoyed growl.  “This is not the place for this conversation.  Actually, there is no place where I would want to have this conversation with you but especially not where we probably have an audience.  Did you get the information?”
“Almost done.  Someone interrupted me,” Constantine subconsciously rubbed his jaw, “or I would be done already,” he said pointedly.  “And here,” he said throwing a small, white cube into the air but the woman made no move to catch it keeping her eyes on Constantine instead.
“It was important.  Believe me when I say I cut that way shorter than I wanted.  You should really thank this kitty for your lack of bruises,” she said cooing at the cat and petting him more.
“Hell of a thanks for getting this for you,” he said holding up a small device.  “Luckily for us, one of them, I’m guessing Tim, already did the hard work getting the information from the League for us.  Believe me when I say getting it from the League of Assassins would have been far, far more difficult than from the bats.”
“Awesome.  Let’s get out of here before any of the bats come home to roost.  I’m not looking forward to the wrath leaving a wake of bloody and bruised bats would create.”  She stepped away and whispered something they couldn’t hear.  As soon as she said the words, she was bathed in a blinding aqua light again and was replaced with the figure they first saw step out of the portal.
“She has a magical girl sequence…” Dick whispered in awe.
The woman said something sounding like “Voyage” and made a motion to her side.  A shimmering portal opened where she had previously indicated.  “Come on, we’ve been here too long as it is.” She said stepping through the portal.
Constantine looked up at the surveillance camera and gave a wicked smile with a salute before following her through the portal.
The portal closed, leaving the batcave quiet and empty again.
The bat boys stared at the screen for a few more seconds unsure what to say next.  Bruce moved forward to speak when there was movement on the screen.  They watched as a much smaller portal opened back up and Alfred was pushed through, the portal closed quickly behind him.  Alfred turned around and looked around meowing a few times, batting his paw where the portal was.
The quiet of the room was disrupted by a loud phone ringer waking everyone out of their stupor.  Suddenly everyone started talking at once except for Damian who just glared at the screen.  Dick yelled over everyone to silence them pulling out his phone.  “Hey Alfred, we’ll be right out.”  He started to make his way to the exit followed by everyone else when Bruce stopped them.
“They're gone and it's Constantine, it won't be against us.  We don't need to prepare for an attack.  The priority right now is the announcement.  We make the announcement then call Constantine and investigate her.”
“You would choose the one person in the room that was spying on us, Todd.” Damian growled redirecting his glare toward Jason instead of the screen.
“And yet, not the most deceitful one in the room or the most dangerous. Definitely the hottest though. No offense Dick.” Jason said shrugging off the accusation.
“Not the most dangerous to us?  She just threatened to leave a, and I quote, ‘wake of bloody and bruised bats’ behind her.  And she found a way to bypass all of our security to break into the cave and hack the computer.  How is that not a threat?” Tim yelled at him.  This girl was an immediate threat they knew nothing about.  She was skilled and had magic on her side and they knew nothing, absolutely fucking nothing, about her to know what kind of threat she was and Jason was just going with it because she had a pretty face.  He was going to let this girl saunter on into their sanctum sanctorum with no questions at all.  “I know it is hard for you, but you need to start looking beyond your next conquest or you are going to get us all killed.”
“Let me get this straight,” Jason glared at the family, “Dick spent the night talking up a chick that would sell us all out for a dime just so he could get lucky.  Tim spent the night talking up a business man I saw sexually assault someone AT THIS GALA just so he had the chance at a few extra bucks.” Tim opened his mouth to defend himself but Jason continued, speaking over him.  “Bruce spent the night talking up a known thief who was probably casing the guests for a future job, again just so he could get lucky. No offense Selina.”  She bowed her head and held up her champagne glass to show she took it in stride.  And he wasn’t wrong.  That was exactly what she was doing and why she asked for the information on that woman’s designer.
“And Damian... well Damian doesn't talk to people but I guarantee he spent the night plotting multiple people's murder, mine included.  There’s no way he wasn’t.” Damian crossed his arms and looked away, even more annoyed by the accurate description.  “And I'm getting in trouble because I spent the night talking up someone working with an ally?” he asked incredulously.
They had all just witnessed the same scene.  They had evidence she wasn’t a villain, she wasn’t a threat.  She was someone they needed to help and they weren’t seeing it.  This is exactly why he hated working with them.  Oh, they wanted to help, but only on their terms. Only if they controlled it and they didn’t control this.  This was an unknown that had been dropped on them instead of them finding and investigating on their own.  They were licking their wounded egos instead of trying to figure out how to help.  They were wasting time with this stupid argument.  “Fuck all of you and your fucked up so called ‘morals’.  She might have been the only really good person in this room, definitely the only trustworthy, honest person and you’re ignoring the situation Constantine mentioned.”
“She was spying on us, imbecile.” Damian growled at him.
“FOR CONSTANTINE!” he yelled back.  How were they still missing that point?  It was like they were intentionally missing it.  “Did nobody else watch what just happened?  Did all of you assholes miss Constantine say he devised this whole thing to get us to help her?  Did you shitheads miss how Constantine is treating her? He ain't treating her like he does us. He’s being protective.  That means he thinks she’s a good guy and a good person unlike the rest of us mother fuckers.  More than that, he’s treating her with kid gloves.  He doesn’t treat anyone with kid gloves, not even kids.  He’s trying to help her in and out of the mask.  He’s motherhenning the fuck out of her.  When have any of you ever seen Constantine act that way about anyone or anything?  She needs our help.”
“SHE HELPED SOMEONE BREAK INTO THE BATCAVE!” Tim yelled.
“ENOUGH!” Bruce yelled silencing everyone in the room.  “Like he told her, this entire night was more about her than us.  He wanted us to know something was going on and for us to get involved.  And he was desperate enough to keep her trust that he concocted this whole plot to make sure we knew without breaking his word. He probably left us a clue by not covering what he got from the computer if not a message.”
“That’s a lot of words for ‘Jason is right’” Jason said smugly. “Come on B, you can just say it. ‘Jason is right.  We should listen to him.’  It’ll make you feel lighter to just finally say it.”
“You can’t be serious father,” Damian groused.
“Stop being such a jealous ass bitch, Demon Spawn.  Just because Alfred tried to run away with her…” Jason smirked at him.
Damian jumped up, face bright red and furious indicating he had every intention of following through with the plans he had been making during the gala.  Bruce stepped between him and Jason, not prepared to deal with the fight right now. They had an announcement to make and it would not look good if the boys showed up with fresh cuts and bruises. It’s hard to sell the story of a happy, functional family when the evidence to the contrary is on full display. “Now that we all agree,” he glared at them all until they quieted down.  “We’ve been in here long enough.  Let’s get back out there and make the announcement and show everyone what a supportive family that is ecstatic to have their brother back we are.  After that, Tim and Jason can go home to start the investigation.”
“Father, I would certainly be more help than him,” Damian objected indicating Jason, “also, there is no reason for me to still be here with these vapid, insolent morons.”
Bruce grunted.  Damian had a point about no reason for him to be there.  And the longer he was here the more likely it would be for him to finally snap and break someone’s hand and maybe more.  “Fine.  Take Damian, too.”  He waved his hand dismissively.  “Now move, we’re making this announcement right now.”
Damian gave a curt nod and turned to follow his father out of the door.  Selina coughed discretely drawing Bruce’s attention back to the room.  He looked at her questioningly.  She eyed Damian and Jason then nodded toward Dick.
Ahh.  She had a point, those three together would result in blood at the very least and the high probability for broken bones, cracked ribs, and dislocated joints, making patrol schedules very difficult until they healed.  “And Dick.  Nobody kills anyone.  I don’t care what you find or what is said, I don’t want any blood to clean when I get back.”
He started walking again but noticed nobody following him. He turned back to them exasperated and raised an eyebrow.  He noted everyone’s eyes on him giving him a deadpan expression and questioning expressions of their own.  “Fine, I don’t want Alfred to have to clean any blood when he gets back,” he sighed.  There was a round of begrudging agreement noises and the family started moving toward the gala again.
The boys followed him out the door but Dick held onto Tim’s shoulder prompting him to hang back from the rest of the group.  He watched the rest of the family walk ahead of them.  When there was sufficient space between them, he started hitting Tim’s shoulder repeatedly still not looking at him.  Tim brushed off his hands and glared at him annoyed, “What?  You know Bruce is going to be mad we’re not out there.”
“Yeah, yeah.  This will be quick.”  He glanced round to make sure nobody was close enough to hear them.  “Bring up the video of the woman in the cave again.”
Tim gave him a suspicious look but pulled it up. “Okay, now what?”
Dick grinned excitedly, “Rewind the recording to the beginning.  Can you get a better angle of her glare?  I need to see the glare that is better than Batman’s.”  Bruce’s glare was legendary.  If this girl’s glare is that good, he had to see it.  Tim grinned back and scrolled through the different feeds looking for the one that would give them the best angle.

I think I included everyone who asked to be tagged.  I’m sorry if I missed anyone.
I realize there is no actual Jasonette interaction in this and for that, I am truly sorry.  I’m disappointed too.

13 Days 13 Fanfics | Counting down Albedo’s Birthday
Pairing : Albedo x GN! Reader
Genre : Fluff | Established relationship
Warning : None
Word count : 1,699 words
note : I can die peacefully now, I believe the entire family can hear me screaming. Day 13 will be based on Albedo's mail. I suck at kissing btw, sooo I tried
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 12 Moment of Birth Part 1: Midnight
Light from houses in the city of freedom starting to turn into darkness; but not all, liveliest place in the slumbering city in the lake still filled with drunkards and music from the bard. Angel share, is night-active with drinks and socializing drinkers.
You have a meeting with your friends to discuss what to give Albedo for his birthday, Although..
“You guys seriously haven’t kissed yet? It’s been nearly a year”
things seemed going in the completely wrong direction “Shhh quiet please, Captain Kaeya. It’s not a big deal, I understand he wanted to take things slow” Still, there are times where you yearn for more than hugs and pecks on your face.
“Our Chief Alchemist has really taken your advice Too well, Kaeya” Lady in purple attire and a large witch hat, decorated with roses spoke up “That little genius never opened up for this sort of relationship” eyepatch man took another gulp to his mouth “I’m still surprised you managed to make him fall for you”
“Kaeya, rude” lightly zapped the one-eyed captain before turning to you “If he doesn’t make the first step, you’d need to do it” she placed her finger on your lips “Alright, alright, stop everyone” you harsh your friends before things getting out of hand “I just wanted a piece of advice on what to give Albedo for his birthday, so how did this turned to-“ Yup, that sparked your idea.
Both Knights of Favonius glanced at each other then back to you “Do you still need our help?”
The following morning you knocked on the Acting Grand Master’s room “Come in” an assertive voice flew out from the wooden door “Good morning, Master Jean. Do you know where Klee is?” “Good morning, I think she’s by the lake near Wolvendom. Oh and if you’re going to meet her, please make sure she doesn’t explode all the fish” she spoke without looking at you, eyes on massive amounts of paperwork
“One other thing, Acting Grand Master. I would be greatly appreciated if you kindly grant Albedo’s leave on his birthday” you figured your boyfriend might need a day off, in case he wanted to spend time with you and Klee “Oh right, his birthday is approaching” she glanced at the calendar “Yes of course, please do send him my regards if I couldn’t inform him myself” Closing the door after thanking her, ‘alright, off to Wolvendom’ you recalled your plan
Explosions can be heard from afar, the little girl should be nearby. Fish flying out in the sky, big splash easily visible. A small girl in red clothing having fun tossing bombs into stilled water. You called for her and she turned around “Y/N! Klee missed you” red coat sprinting to you, hugging you as soon as you’re in her reach By now she sees you as another sibling, despite you’re actually dating her brother. “Having fun today mh Klee?” glancing at the amount of dead fish on the ground “Yup! The kind uncle at the fishing asso..asso..” “Fishing association?” “Yes! the fishing association told Klee there’s a bunch of new fish all over Mondstadt, Klee will blast them all” You know fishing normally is better for the fish, but you let it slide for her happiness “Hey Klee, I have to borrow your brother the day before his birthday; well, tomorrow, is that alright?” You crouch down to the little girl’s height “Aw, but Klee wanted to be with big brother Albedo..” “I know Klee, but by that time you would be asleep. Would you like to help me prepare snacks for Albedo then?” “Yayy, Klee wanna help!” “Alright, keep it between us m’kay?” Holding out a pinky finger for the young one to hook with hers
‘And to keep Albedo busy..’ You head to the fountain plaza to one of your boyfriend’s assistants, Timaeus. “Morning Timaeus, do you know where Sucrose is?” A bit weird to start a conversation about her, since you and Sucrose don’t really get along “Sucrose? I’m not sure. Do you want me to help find her?” “No, no no no, uh, Timaeus, I need you to help distract Albedo tomorrow, mild difficulty experiment, anything” “Is that all? All Right” Scholar alchemist agreed to lend you a hand “Thanks, Timaeus”
You headed off to your next destination ‘Alright, time for a hard part’ the last part of your plan is rather hard, you wondered if he gonna help you
“Mark it as done!” wow that was.. easy, perhaps it’s because of three high-quality bottles of wine in his hands. You asked.. or rather, hired anemo bard to play songs for the night and extra requested to let the wind carry the song to you.
In the evening, you have scouted the area you wanted to give the alchemist your gift and found the perfect place. An area where you can see both the city of freedom and the icy summit, high enough for the gentle breeze to flow, beautifully decorated with flowers and greenery. Starsnatch cliff, also the home of the flower which held meaning, the truest feelings of prodigal son, Cecilia.
The next day everything went according to plan. Light meal fully prepared with the help of the pyro girl, Timaeus kept Albedo busy so he couldn’t come home and caught you and Klee in action.
Quite late night when you knocked on Alice’s door, the blonde, still in his usual attire opened to greet the unknown guests. “Y/N? What are you doing here this late hour?” Judging from the angle of the moon, it's around 9-10 PM “Hey, what about me?” eyepatch covering male’s hand and he placed his elbow on the opened door, the alchemist only nodded to his presence “Evening Bedo, I would like to show you something, could you come with me please?” you don’t normally use the formal language after being with him for so long. He can sense your shyness from the way you speak and your body language “I’d love to go but Klee..”
You pointed to the man behind you “Don’t worry about little Klee, just go enjoy your time” he basically dragged the alchemist out of his house
Chitchat along the way, fingers intertwined with his “Not sleepy yet aren’t you?” you bent down and look at him in the eyes “Not at all, I’m rather excited about what you prepared for me” giggled to his answer “Good, 'cause the night is still young!” you have reached your destination, Large fabric covering the grassy ground, a basket filled with snacks lies atop, along with a flower vase to decorate the scenery. Log of wood has bags and books resting against it. The wind bringing the scent of white flowers and the tune of the harp. Moon and star shining bright, needlessly of other light sources.
“Didn’t know you had anything romantic in mind” he teased your boldness “..well, what do you think?” hiding your embarrassment and teases the alchemist back
Sitting down to the location you prepared, he started to examine the scene “There’s no musician nearby, nor to any instruments.. Am I the only one hearing the melody?” Trying to find a scientific explanation for a strange event “The wind carries messages. Was music not a kind of message too?” He wrapped his arms around your waist, drowning in the love you gave him
“Enjoying it hmm? Here, I prepared some light food for us” slowly getting plates and snacks out from the weaved basket, the fabric is soon filled with various types of dishes "You’re not gonna sit on your seat?” his arms tightened, head bury to your shoulder “..I don't want to move” it’s rare seeing him clingy to you like this “you’re adorable you know” finally commented on his action
“We got your favorite,” one of your dishes has turned to Albedo’s favorite “These are canapés, I chose bread base, topped with different types of savory” bite-sized dishes, you know he prefers smaller portions
Pointing to each topping one by one, explaining what each one is made of. In his eyes, you’re like a professional chef
“Bedo, check this one out” you pulled out Fisherman’s toast with clover ketchup, onions, cheese, and heart-shaped parleys “..Fish-Flavored Toast, Klee’s specialty. You’re so thoughtful, I have to thank her later” he pecked your cheek, definitely in love
“And we got desserts- after savory alright Bedo?” His hand was already reaching for the dish, you have to stop his fast hand Brownies, Berry Mille-Feuille, and a jar of chocolate chip cookies are all making him drool “Shall we dig in?” He suggested, perhaps the desserts engaging him.
Your hypothesis was turned down after seeing him having a high appetite for savory, you figured he actually wanted to savor your cooking
Hours passed and you both are finally full, cuddling against the wooden log, enjoying the melody floating in the air. His platinum hair reflects the elegant moonlight, half-lidded eyes resting against your neck, handheld on yours. You looked up in the sky- its almost time
“Albedo?” He replied with a sweet hum, glancing up at you “Do you know what day is tomorrow?” “..my birthday. but I still don’t understand why you chose to celebrate it tonight” “Wouldn’t be nicer to receive a gift directly after the clock strikes midnight?” Lifted his chin to face you, he’s so close to you, closer than usual
Both yours and his cheek painted rosy, he cupped your face and look deeply into your eyes. “was all this not my birthday gifts?” “nope.. would you like to find out what it is?”
Moon motions overhead, the clock strikes midnight, soft breeze touched exposed skin, the sound of the harp soaring in the sky. stars as the witness, Cecilia as the oath, feelings as vow sealed between the two bodies.
Hand slide by the side of his neck, placing on the backside and pulled him closer, half-lidded eyes slowly closed, chest-pounding hard, tilted your head to the side a little-
sweet lips finally placed on his loving ones, passionated and full of affection, butterflies flying in your stomach. After a while, you break the timeless kiss
“Happy birthday my beloved Albedo”

Unbidden - Act 1, chapter 2
Masterlist | Previous | Next
Content warnings: None, still pretty light here.
It wasn't long before they reached a small encampment where another woman called out to the one who had been guiding Morgan. "Fiona, I swear you're the worst scout we have. There's something following you, you know."
The rogue - Fiona - put her hands on her hips.
"I'll have you know, Akara, that this is an adventurer. He's going to combat our evil."
"And why didn't you send him to the den?"
"I just wanted your blessing, ma'am."
"More like you didn't want to go out of your way." The woman, evidently a superior of some sort, looked Morgan over with a cool gaze. "There's a monster den about half an hour's walk to the west of here. They've been giving us some trouble. If you can exterminate them, we'll talk."
Talking was very low on the list of things Morgan wanted to do. But eliminating a nest of evil creatures - that was a good task, easily defined with no messy human contact. And, of course, it would also contribute in a small way toward restoring the Balance, to fulfilling the request that had sent him out here in the first place. Surely it was more than just one den causing problems, but they likely wanted to test his ability. He nodded to show he'd understood, then turned to go. The two women continued to talk as he left.
"Is he mute, or what?"
"Nah, he talks. But listen, you'll never believe this -"
He stopped listening. There were more important things to think about, like whether or not it would be worth the effort to concentrate on making clay golems instead of using skeletons. He debated as he walked, keeping an ear out for sounds of danger. Skeletons were plentiful in these parts, he'd discovered. So that was convenient. He paused to raise two out of a boggy patch of ground. Two was a good number, enough to draw enemy attention away without draining his energy too much. He could only manage one earth golem at a time, but if other risen skeletons were attacking the Sisterhood... yes, the extra effort was probably worth it to ease future interactions. He could always reserve the skeletons for use away from the encampment, lay them back down into the earth outside their view.
Morgan stopped, crouching down to touch the ground. He sent out a tendril of magical energy, spreading it thin to form a humanoid shape. The earth lifted, obedient but slow, a form rising up ponderously. It took almost a minute to fully form, and Morgan was breathing hard by the end of it. It was a small golem, only a little taller than him but considerably sturdier. It would do for now. He was admittedly a little out of practice, but he resolved to keep working at it. Later, after this den was taken care of.
It was early the next morning by the time Morgan returned to the rogue encampment. The nest of imp demons had presented a challenge, but not an insurmountable one. He'd had to rest afterwards, taking a few hours to meditate. It wasn't quite sleeping, but it was close enough. He'd also remembered to put his skeletons back into the ground outside the view of the little town. A clay golem plodded along by his side; he was just more comfortable with at least one construct to protect him.
A familiar voice raised a call as he approached the town gate. "Hey, ghoul boy's back!" The encroaching forces of darkness must have taken a toll on their numbers, Morgan surmised. Why else would a scout have two watch shifts so close to one another? The sooner he could get to the root of the problem, the better - for all of them.
The gate rolled open and a new woman approached. Judging by her more impressive-looking armour, Morgan guessed her to be some sort of commander. When she spoke, she certainly had the tone of a leader.
"I didn't think we'd see you back here, outlander. Did you clear the den of monsters?"
"They were demons, not monsters." He hung back by the gates, reluctant to enter without an explicit invitation.
"Demons. Monsters. I don't care what they are other than dead. Are they dead?"
"Yes."
"Good. Welcome to the Sisterhood of the Sightless Eye - what's left of it, anyway. Fiona says you're here to cleanse the evil from this place. She also says you came out of the woods alongside some skeletons, so I'm not sure what to believe. Tell me about yourself, stranger."
A few more women clad in light armour had appeared, hanging back behind their leader. Not so different from the imps he'd just finished with, Morgan thought - skittish, wary. He decided to keep that comparison to himself. No sense in actively antagonizing them. They were already poised to dislike him based on his school of magic, based on his experience so far. It was possible that whoever had sent the request to his Order had done so in secret. It was also possible that they had passed on already, given the sorry state of things. He tried to skirt the issue delicately.
"I am a follower of Rathma. We are charged with maintaining the Balance between light and darkness. We received word of a source of evil nearby that threatens to disrupt that Balance. I seek to destroy it. If you can direct me-"
"The priests of Rathma are necromancers, are they not?" This was the woman from before, Akara. He hadn't noticed her standing behind the rest of them. He recognized the disdain in her face, her voice. He'd been hoping to avoid this type of interaction, but he'd never been able to figure out a good way to dodge the question without lying outright. And while he could technically lie - there wasn't anything physically or magically preventing it - he had never developed the barest shred of skill in the art of deceit, and it was impossibly difficult to guess what people would or wouldn't believe in any given situation. In cases where the truth would be unwelcome, the best option was usually to try to deflect.
"I don't intend to do you any harm," he tried.
"Answer the question, then. Yes or no."
Well, it had been worth trying. It seemed like Akara knew the answer anyway, and just wanted to hear it from him, for some reason.
"Yes."
Most of the women took a horrified step back, grimacing in disgust or fear. He didn't let it bother him on a personal level - it was easiest to work from the assumption that everyone would have these sorts of feelings toward him, based on either his appearance or his affiliation - but it rarely bade well for situations like this in which he needed information. The commander didn't flinch, which was heartening. She turned to face Akara.
"We can't afford to be choosy right now, Priestess. Whatever his methods, this is the best chance we've had in a while. I'm not going to waste it." She turned back to Morgan. "You'd do best to start by finding Deckard Cain. Word is, he knows just about everything there is to know. If he still lives, he should be able to tell you more about the evil that blights our land here."
He listened carefully as she described this scholar and his last known whereabouts. It was a good plan, to gather as much information as possible before properly facing down whatever evil had rooted there. It would likely take a few days to reach Tristram, which would give him time to work on his golems. He was pleased with these developments until the commander turned to address the women huddled behind her.
"Blaise, you'll go with him."
What? No, this wouldn't do at all. Other people just complicated things. What Morgan needed was the simplicity of solitude with his golems. He raised his hands in protest. "Madam, I really don't-"
"What the fuck, Kashya?" That was presumably Blaise, voicing a much louder objection. "Are you still mad about that thing last week? I said I was sorry, I don't deserve-"
"That wasn't a request," Kashya said calmly. "I think you're the best one for the job, and I won't hear any arguments. Now get your things together for the journey." The assembled rogues huddled in a group, chattering quietly amongst themselves as Blaise turned on her heel and stalked away. Morgan took a few steps toward their commander.
"Please, madam Kashya, I ask you to reconsider-"
"When I said no arguments, I meant it. Two heads are better than one. Now you can wait outside; you're making my girls nervous."
Morgan waited outside. It was clear that the matter was not open for discussion. He guessed that pushing it further would only serve to alienate the single person who seemed at all willing to work with him. One was better than none, so he would try to stay on her good side.

the one with the puppy ▫ changmin
Tumblr media
➳ pairing: changmin x reader ➳ genre: fluff ➳ word count: 1.7k ➳ warnings: n/a ➳ requested? : yes
a/n: unedited!
Tumblr media
“Is that an actual puppy?”
Changmin asked in a high pitched tone full of excitement, eyes wide with surprise and glee as he watched you let the little ball of fluff run across the living room.
“I don’t think robotic toy puppies are going to be that realistic,” you laughed at his reaction. The two of you had been talking about getting a puppy for the longest time but somehow have never found the time to actually go adopt one. This was definitely a surprise for him and if you weren’t sure earlier about how he’d react, you are now certainly reassured.
“It’s so cute!” He practically screamed and you winced as he shot you an apologetic look, “Sorry.”
“It’s ok, I agree.” You smiled, taking the puppy from him and rubbing your nose affectionately against its small, black nose.
“I love him so much already.”
For some reasons at your words, Changmin felt a sudden pang of jealousy and clinginess in him which was a weird feeling to say the least since it wasn’t like him at all. He watched quietly as you fawned over the little puppy, wondering when was the last time you looked at him the way you are looking at the puppy right now. In his eyes, the little creature had all of a sudden became infinitely and significantly less adorable.
“So... So do I.” He gave you a small smile.
“I bought some snacks too,” you began and immediately, Changmin lit up.
“Snacks?” The happiness in his voice was clear but it dulled as he noticed the strange look you were giving him.
“I meant for the puppy, silly.” You chuckled, drawing a bag of dog biscuits from your bagpack and the smile fell off his face faster than the excitement that bubbled in his heart earlier.
Changmin could only take the biscuit from you wordlessly, his eyes observing your every move. The way your face was so radiant and all smiles with the puppy and your melodious laughs that rang through the apartment as the puppy licked at your face. Subconsciously, he began to chew listlessly at the biscuit in his hand.
What was this feeling?
He was so deep in thought that he barely realised the look of horror that passed over your face.
“Changmin! Is that the dog biscuit you’re eating?!”
Tumblr media
“Y/n! Shall we go for some waffles later at the new café down the street?”
Changmin bounded up to you from behind, enveloping you in a back hug as you leaned back in your seat from studying.
You could only shook your head as you patted his arm which was draped over your shoulders.
“I can’t. I have to finish these project slides and then take Nana for a walk.” You sighed, not noticing the slight frown on his face.
“Can’t you take Nana for a walk after?” He asked in an apprehensive tone.
“I can’t. He’s been growing impatient for the past hour, I have to.”
“But it’s waffles...”
“I know Changmin, we can always go after?” A grin tugged at your lips as Nana scurried into the room towards you and you rubbed his fluffy head lovingly.
For a moment, Changmin didn’t say a word but eventually, he relented reluctantly.
“Fine...”
As he left the room, he couldn’t help but shoot the Nana a glare. Closing the door behind him, the jealousy and possessiveness threatened to overwhelm him as he leaned despondently against the door
It seemed like you never did have much time for him anymore. You were almost always busy with school and when you weren’t you were preoccupied with Nana. Of course, he loved Nana too but not when the little pupper was taking up so much of your time. Unexpectedly, it stirred up this clingy side of him he never knew he had.
Smacking himself on the forehead, he chastised himself.
“What are you doing, Ji Changmin? Getting all clingy and jealous because of a dog?”
Yet, he couldn’t help himself. Staring at the polaroid picture of Nana you had pinned up on the refrigerator door in the kitchen from afar, Changmin narrowed his eyes as he puffed his cheeks in annoyance.
“I love you Nana, but...” He straightened, “it’s on.”
Tumblr media
Over the next few days, you weren’t particularly looking out for any sort of weird activities going on around the house but it didn’t take long for you notice something slightly amiss even as you were indulging in your work.
Was it just you or was Changmin acting a lot more... Clingy?
Whenever you were busy working on something on your laptop, he would pop by randomly with all sorts of baked treats or snacks and proceed to hang out in your room with you. Since he knew you were the type to prefer total silence when you were working, Changmin would just lounge around in the room, essentially doing nothing and just trying to keep you company. What was very strange, was the fact that he seemed to be becoming almost too attentive to Nana’s every need. At times, it would feel almost as if he didn’t want you to have any form of interaction with the little puppy.
Changmin would insist on walking Nana, holding Nana and even showering the feisty ball of fluff which the both of you knew could become such a long ordeal. When you did have the time to hang out with Nana, he would grow quieter and even if he may not notice what he was doing, you could somehow feel his gaze on you when you played with the puppy. It was odd to say the least and secretly, you wondered if he was okay.
On a particular day, you were busy jotting down some notes from an online lecture you had when he burst into the room with a wide dimpled smile on his face and a plate of cinnamon buns in his hands.
“Y/n, I brought you some treats fresh from the bakery! Here you go,” he chirped, gingerly placing the plate next to you and taking a seat on your bed. Smiling at him appreciatively, you accepted the treat as you mumbled your thanks.
“Where’s Nana?” You asked carefully, your mouth full of cinnamon goodness.
You didn’t miss the look of disappointment that briefly flashed across his face which he quickly concealed with a grin.
“Nana’s sleeping after playing at the park earlier. Our boy really got invested in our game of Fetch.”
“Right,” you replied and before you could help yourself you asked, “are you just going to hang around in my room again?”
The words must have sounded less harsh in your mind than they did when actually spoken aloud because Changmin’s smile dropped almost instantly as his eyes widened instinctively. You felt your heart drop when you saw the look of hurt in those eyes.
“Um, do you not want me around?”
“No, no! That’s not what I meant!” You rushed forward, reaching out to hold his hands in yours.
His expression softened at your touch and with those large, soulful doe eyes, he stared into yours as he laced his fingers between yours.
“Then what is it?” He asked cautiously.
You looked at your clasped hands.
“I was just wondering why you’re suddenly so affectionate is all. Why are you suddenly like this since Nana’s arrival?” You said softly, tightening your grip on his hand and feeling him stiffen at your question.
“Is there something you are not telling me?”
“I just...” Changmin trailed off, his face turning red at an alarming rate.
“I... I... hate how you don’t really have time for me anymore.” He whispered in a soft voice with his head downcast so he didn’t see the surprise in your face.
“I don't know why I even think this way, I’m sorry if this just makes me look weird but I feel like even before Nana joined our little family, you were already too busy to be able to spend time with me but when our little boy came around, it felt like we weren't even physically together much anymore. Don’t get me wrong, I love Nana and always will but I just wish we could spend a little more time together, just you and me.” Changmin admitted and you felt your heart drop.
You would never have realised just how much you were neglecting him until he pointed it out and realising that only now, you couldn’t help but feel extremely sorry for him. You knew that he loved spending time with you as a couple and to treat him so carelessly, you felt almost guilty.
“I’m sorry, Changmin. I really am.” You said softly, looping your arms around his neck and pulling him into a hug. Jolting, he almost jumped back from surprise but he melded into the hug quickly.
“It’s ok, love.” He said and you could hear the smile in his voice.
“I promise I’ll try to spend more time with you! I’ll devote an equal amount of time to my boys!” You laughed, holding up three fingers in a girls’ scout salute style to which he chuckled merrily, his eyes shining with amusement.
“You don’t have to be so serious about it! I guess all I needed was some reassurance.” Changmin said, holding your hands in his as he rubbed your fingers gently.
“So do you mean to say now that you’ve got that reassurance, you won't be giving me any special treatment anymore?”
You raised an eyebrow at him playfully, causing him to shoot you a rather affronted look.
“I’m offended, y/n. Those came from the heart.”
“Sure, it did.” You teased, pinching his cheeks to which he scrunched up his nose cutely at.
The moment between the two of you was interrupted by barking from the kitchen, followed by a crash. Standing up, you were about to investigate what had happened when Changmin held onto your wrist.
“Hey, it’s ok. I’ll go check it out, you focus on your work and enjoy that cinnamon bun. I’ll settle everything.” He smiled warmly before stepping out. Peeking out from the ajar door, you watched as he lifted Nana up, his melodious laughs ringing through the apartment.
“Aw, Nana! Look what you did!”
You felt your heart flutter as he fussed over Nana.
Maybe this time, it’s your turn to become the clingy one.

Thoughts on Dark Fortress #2
(This post is under a cut due to spoilers.)
So late with this one! some stuff irl was keeping me really busy and hyper-distracting me lately, but it’s finally over now so I’m back on my bioware bullshit. :D
Overall there were a lot of beautiful or awe-inspiring scenes in this issue, and a lot of great, meaningful / poignant character interactions and moments between characters. It’s pretty impressive actually how much was able to be packed in. I posted some of my favorite panels here. also omg! the action sequences! the big reveal! the ending!! woww
cool scene-setting, panned out shot of Neromenian and behind it, the Dark Fortress, to immediately pull you back into the world and ‘where we left off’. the combination of ruined dead trees, red lights, lightning and fire/smoke is very atmospheric and hints at what’s ahead
“From this... city, if we can call it that” is a sick burn and reminds you that the Qunari are technologically more advanced than most of the rest of Thedas, from their cannons to their aqueducts
more individually distinct Qunari soldiers, sth I again appreciate
! last issue there were big ‘You haven’t seen the last of Tractus!’ vibes, naturally, but I didn’t expect him to escape by stabbing and killing the Qunari using a chair-leg..!!
the last panel on the first page of Karasten is really good. the way it’s colored, the way it’s lit, the light and shadow, the fiery backdrop, cinders floating, the details of his expression.. 👌 it also makes me think to the possible future, to DA4 when mainland Thedas may be continuing to face the entirety of the Antaam
in Vaea’s acrobatics scene on the bridge, I know rationally that she’ll be fine but couldn’t help but worry for her. again I like how they don’t shy away from showcasing Vaea’s specific abilities. also the attention to detail - you’d think some rocks are just some rocks, but it highlights the risk she’s undertaking that if she falls it’s into rough seas which could dash her against the jagged rocks :’S. Vaea, gooooo!
Fenris’ “Enterprising girl” line has big “Clever girl” meme energy :D
my heart can’t take Fran and Autumn leaning over the edge after Vaea in worry ;; or Aaron looking back in concern over his shoulder ;; or Fran’s tender reassurance ;; or Autumn’s Worried expression ;; the care and bonds which have grown between this group of characters ;;
notice Aaron starts drinking when Vaea’s away from them and they’re beginning to grow worried about her safety. the poor man’s nerves and stress levels
Fran touching the vegetation while she’s considering if she could use her magic to open the entrance from the outside is a nice touch
did Marius leap in front of Fenris and Fran there when the entrance opened?? damn, he’s quick. and the three of them look all scary and formidable here ready for combat. notice how the curve of the door and the spikes that go into the ground, and the composition of this panel, make it look like they’re standing in front of an opened dragon’s maw? ‘teeth’, a rumbling ‘roar’.. some nice foreshadowing here.
the reunion panels are so cute. Autumn’s lil tum as she jumps and Fran and Fenris’ lil smiles of relief and at Autumn’s reaction to seeing Vaea, then a rare happy beam from Aaron.. feel.. the love ;__;
red lighting in the tunnel sets a dangerous, dramatic build-up mood
👀 more info on Fenris’ past, on the specifics of the process which gave him his markings. in the panel where he says that it took a long time, his shadow on the wall behind him reminds me of the shadow of his past that has dogged him for so long :(
Fenris and Marius height difference
discussion of the process shows the power difference between blue and red lyrium. blue lyrium took a long time, red lyrium is almost instant
Autumn is such an intrepid little explorer and alert scout, tail and ears up, head forward. good girl!
“I just... worry about you, my girl”  ‧º·(˚ ˃̣̣̥⌓˂̣̣̥ )‧º·˚  I’ll be so sad if these are death flags for Aaron and he doesn’t make it out of here. also note Fran in this panel, who recently had to kill her own father and is still dealing with that, watching the strongly paternal moment between Aaron and Vaea :(
love Vaea’s faith in Aaron and her sense of humor. also I don’t know why, maybe it’s because Vaea met Sebastian, but her “Maker, no!”, although in a completely different and light-hearted context, reminds me of Sebastian’s “Maker nooo!” at the end of DA2 hh
the reference again to Hawke, who Fenris saw haunted by what they tried to do - save their mother - and couldn’t :’(. also with the shadow in this panel, here’s another person struggling with the shadow of his past qq. this is later emphasized again in Aaron when he continues to talk about his past and in the panel is a chain and manacle. smart visual metaphors, a must in the comic medium with limited space
mushroom skull 💀🍄
“It isn’t about what I’ve done. It isn’t about my failures. Or my choices. It’s about their impact” - he’s misty-eyed here as he thinks back to Ostagar.. does this line btw seem almost meta to anyone else btw? :D it feels like a meta reference to the experience of DA players and PCs, who are always having to deal with the impacts of their choices
I wanna point out that I was right on reading issue #1, when I said “I’m positive that in panel 2 here, it’s the exact moment when he sees Cailan die” ;;
So Aaron is also a veteran of the Battle of Denerim
reference to the Hero of Ferelden - “Those were someone else’s battles”. I’m being captain obvious here but I can’t help but [heart pitter-patter] at any and all references to the HoF
I like the.. parallel? is that the word? Aaron’s stories were him trying to inspire people to make a change, or him trying to convince himself of that. and now here’s Vaea, inspiring Aaron with her words in these panels. the little guys can make a difference! in the world of Thedas, you don’t need to be a big bombastic hero or a Player Character to have an impact
lmao Fenris right on cue. the moments of humor/light-heartedness are nice because they break up the tension and are sprinkled throughout without derailing build-up or taking away from dramatic story impact. yknow?
yeah Aaron!! leave it behind. leave it to rot with mr mushroom skull (and hey the mushroom skull was there for a reason). again tho if this is a death flag i
Fenris straight down to business with the tactics
its cute how close Autumn has been sticking to Fran
Tessa checking in on Fran again, as she did in issue 1
Could Vaea’s “Well, shit” be an homage to Varric? :D they have met
I also wanna point out that I was right on reading issue #1, when I said “My guess is that the thing Tractus shows Marquette and Nenealeus is probably a chained up dragon or similar”
the poor dragon :’( big dragon the Qunari had in Trespasser vibes
the sword has a really cool design, kind of reminds me of something a samurai might be depicted wielding
👀 lore-drop! so ancient elven arcane warriors used lyrium-infused swords. this seems to confirm the sarcophagus is an ancient elven artifact, no? makes sense, wasn’t it said that the sarcophagus’ design was based on the architecture/outfit-design type elements of a specific faction, and that this was done intentionally? it looks kinda ancient elfy in make, right? also about the lyrium-infused swords of the arcane warriors, well well well.. remember that the Evanuris and the ancient elves mined the bodies of Titans for lyrium, for power and to use as a resource. here’s an example of that use
as I read through this portion I became increasingly concerned for my boy Shirallas.. we really are in it now aren’t we 😭
the Qunari are launching STRAIGHT-UP ROCKETS ohhhh
pretty ‘lightshow’ over the wall in the “Let’s hope the fortress is as secure as Danarius boasted” panel hh
protective older brother Fenris, impish younger sister Vaea. love that dynamic, we love to see it. sheepish and exasperated Fenris is so cute
the Bone Pit dragon fight with Hawke and co reference!
I wonder how long the dragon has been captive here, and how Danarius/Tractus was able to capture it
lore-wise what are the implications here? when Fenris’ ritual was being undertaken, the sword and the sarcophagus were bombarded with magic, fire spells. in this one they aim to have the dragon bombard it with fire-breathing. is it just fire that makes it work/powers it, or is there magic in dragonfire, in dragons? it reminds me of “Your heart beats with the old blood, as well. Where do you think it comes from? It sings of a time when dragons ruled the skies. A time before the Veil, before the mysteries were forgotten. Can you hear it?”
purple color for the dragon’s growling sounds/typeset is a great idea
lets.. goooo!!!!
Marquette is such a nerd. later on when he activates the sarcophagus he has mad scientist vibes
the dramatic reunion face-offs begin!! as the prophecy foretold!!!!1
true to form, Marius DOES have nothing to say ahahaha, even at this, his personal climax. maybe Marius dies in the next issue, but Tessa lives and gets to go back to Charter
these Venatori look almost Star Wars
Shirallas my boyy.. nooo... don’t do it 😭
ah ah ah! try casting magic with no ARMS
Francesca a beacon of blue light and goodness
the splash combat page is masterful. everyone playing a part, so much going on, everything happening at once. a thing that sticks out to me about it is Aaron’s outstretched hand and alarm as he watches Fran fall
Autumn with her lil hackles raised
“The Venatori have returned” dun dun dunn
goodbye Shirallas 😭😭😭
the composition of the second to last page with triangle/diamond-shaped panels and the framing of dragon wings is awesome
the Dread Wolf rises, “the Tevinter Imperium will rise again”.. on-point on-point cohesion
there he is, the red wraith
Super Saiyan Shirallas
what a note to end an issue on
wow wow wow!!
and separate to the above, some speculation based on the cover of Issue 3: the piece of metal looks like a broken collar coming off Shirallas, like the one there was on the cover of Issue 2 coming off the dragon. also he’s all bulky now with draconic talons/claws (reminds me of in-world legends of Reavers who dug too deep of their own power after drinking dragon blood and whose bodies consequently began to manifest subtle reptilian traits actually). I’ll be interested to see what results of this allusion between Shirallas and the dragon!!
