The Eddie Polls
Hi, and welcome to The Eddie Polls, aka Battle of the Eddies. So, there are four heavily popular fictional characters named Eddie. So, I figure, why not see which one is the overall fan favorite through a week-long poll? (Eddie Diaz and Eddie Kaspbrak, I apologize in advance, for this does not bode well for either of you with I have you up against).
Think long and hard before making your final decision, and pick wisely, for there's no going back.
This should be fun...

People who are only familiar with the show, and do not read "Fire and Blood" even in a short content, may call Jacaerys boring against the background of Aegon and Aemond. I don't care because I know it's not true. My prince is awesome.
The House of the Dragon decided to give more depth to Aemond by prescribing him as someone who studies history, philosophy, art, martial skills, trains day by day, speaks Valyrian perfectly in between his manic laughter when he chases his fourteen-year-old nephew on a dragon in a thunderstorm, but the truth is that this little corresponds to his bookish character. I don't want to offend the show!Aemond, because the show has greatly changed the personality of many characters (including Rhaenyra and Alicent), and people can love the show versions of the characters. This is normal, I don't want to hurt anyone in this regard. Only all these qualities that they gave to Aemond (huge knowledge and training) would be more suitable for the Jacaerys character. So it's funny to me when I see how people who love show!Aemond for these traits, criticizes Jacaerys as boring.
Book!Aemond is different in that he is one-eyed, he hates Strong, he had a beloved witch, he ruled the kingdom when Aegon was seriously injured, he was very cruel and vindictive, he had the largest and oldest dragon, but it's not about studying all those things that show studied!Aemond, who was heavily whitewashed and idealized, you know. His only real fight (not on a dragon) was against an old man.
But Jacaerys? This Targaryen managed to gain authority and respect, despite his dubious origin (which is not so unambiguous in the books). He was considered a worthy man and heir to the Iron Throne even before he turned fifteen. He's the one who made alliances during the Dragon Dance, he's the one who struck up a strong friendship with Cregan Stark (cough you know, until D&D got close to the universe and turned House Stark into ungrateful xenophobes cough), so much so that Cregan fought against the Greens even after the death of Rhaenyra (and after that you want to say that the role of Jacaerys is insignificant? His friendship and alliance with Cregan is literally what decided the final outcome of the Dance). He's the one who suggested the idea of riding dragons (in the series, it was given to Daemon. And yes, in the end this idea came out sideways, but at first it gave Black a huge advantage in the war). He is the one who said that he and Lucerys should go as messengers themselves, because "dragons are more convincing than ravens" (no, it's not Jacaerys' fault that Lucerys died. I say this in that case, because I know that some blame in Aemond's vindictive actions even Rhaenyra, who allowed her sons to be messengers). And yes, this idea of his also had enormous consequences, because Cregan.
This is enough for Jacaerys not to be boring as a character. He played a huge role in this whole story and who was really interesting. And his dragons-related idea demonstrates him as a true Targaryen.
Considering all this, it was more appropriate for Jacaerys as a character than for Aemond to "study art, philosophy, history, train day by day", etc., to confirm his position, which was questioned by some due to rumors about his origin. It works more with the character of the book!Jacaerys than with the character book!Aemond, that's why some feel that Jacaerys has been robbed in favor of Aemond. I will clarify that this is not necessarily the case, and that you can leave characteristic show!Aemond, without harming the strong qualities of Jacaerys as a character.
A small remark about Valyrian: The fact that show!Jacaerys is diligently trying to learn the language shows him from a worthy side and reveals him more as a character. But do you really believe that Rhaenyra's son (we all love Milly Alcock's Valyrian) wouldn't know the language, that Rhaenyra and Daemon wouldn't teach Jacaerys this? I'm already silent about the fact that Rhaenyra and Damon themselves often communicate with each other in Valyrian, so what's the point that Jacaerys, whose mother is Rhaenyra and stepfather is Daemon, is just learning to speak Valyrian at his age and it's difficult for him to do this? Jacaerys grew up with native speakers who communicate with each other in Valyrian. unlike, by the way, the sons of Alicent, because according to the show, Viserys was emotionally detached from his second family, and the other people in their environment are Alicent, Otto and Criston, none of whom knows Valyrian. I mean, it's obvious that it's much more likely that the children of Rhaenyra will be good at Valyrian, and not the children of Alicent, if the show decides to contrast them in this regard. Again, I don't deny that show!Aemond could learn Valyrian on his own and I'm not saying that he couldn't succeed in this (this is what happened in the show), but when we are shown Jacaerys speaking Valyrian poorly, it is perceived as Jacaerys being robbed and belittled in order to elevate Aemond. Because even if it wasn't the motive of the show, then I'm sure the fandom will still use it as an argument to say that Targaryens-Hightowers are better than Targaryens-Velaryons.
And also in the books it was not that Jacaerys was weak compared to Aemond, that Jacaerys' blow did not cause any damage to Aemond, except for his smug smirk of a sexy pirate, after which he threw Jacaerys to the floor with a dismissive movement of his hand as if he were nothing. This is a moment that can also be unpleasantly perceived by fans of Black and specifically Jacaerys, because the books described the fight of the Targaryens-Velaryons princes with the Targaryens-Hightowers princes without the context that one of them was humiliated and "lowered" during this fight, but the show decided to do otherwise. And if this makes people feel an unpleasant aftertaste and bitterness, then know that this is justified.
In conclusion, I want to say that I do not forbid people to love Targaryens-Hightowers. if the characters, whoever they are, arouse people's interest, love and positive emotions, that's good. sometimes love and the study of characters is what helps people to stay in difficult periods of their lives. it's frustrating when the characters you love are belittled for the sake of other characters. but exactly what I said is probably the main reason I wrote this post. many people in the fandom belittle Jacaerys and Lucerys for the sake of Aemond and Aegon, calling them boring and otherwise showing their disdain or even hatred for them so that Aemond and Aegon look more interesting characters against their background. but this is not so, Jacaerys is one of the main participants of the Dance, the crown Prince after his mother Rhaenyra and he has many interesting features. he is a priori not a boring character. and there are many reasons why this character arouses sympathy and interest, why he has his own fans.

People don’t seem to understand what makes fan content good. Not likeable necessarily, because likability is another thing. I mean, objectively good.
So I’ve decided to illustrate my point. (badly, because I’m a doodler not a pro) Let’s say this is my character, Snatch. He’s just a simple character: a rat who lives on the streets, avoiding humans and surviving. But as simple as he is, Snatch has two distinct character traits that make him “Snatch.”
Tumblr media
And these character traits define everything Snatch does. They are his Unbreakable Character Traits. For example, Snatch won’t jump into traffic to save neighborly  possums because he doesn’t like risking his own skin. He’s perfectly happy stealing from babies because that also gets him food without endangering the beloved skin.
Tumblr media
The character traits can go deeper! Like when Snatch starts to make friends or like other people, it’s usually because he was getting something out of the relationship. For example, his very closest friend, Buster the Dog, is the only friend Snatch cares about because Buster makes him feel safe.
Tumblr media
So we can have adventures, and people can like my character very much, because no matter how deep or shallow the antics, he’s a consistent character. He’s always Snatch. And in my story, Snatch never grows past those particular flaws.
Now let’s say people like Snatch enough to make fan content about him. (Let’s say. Hypothetically.) They want more of Snatch! So they put him in new situations, wacky worlds, and even let him meet different characters.
Tumblr media
Some of the new situations can even break some rules, and that’s okay, as long as the rules aren’t about who Snatch is.
For example:
Tumblr media
Cyborg Snatch! (that’s cool! Maybe he escaped from a lab, and that’s why he’s so self-protective.)
See, even though a major part of Snatch has been broken—the fact that he is a regular rat with no close experience with humans—he still has an opportunity to remain Snatch. All the fan-content creator has to do is make sure Snatch’s Unbreakable Character Traits are incorporated into the cyborg story. And it has to be believable, in some sense. Maybe, like I said, Snatch is still concerned with protecting himself…but now he can do it with lasers! Or he’s still selfish, but he talks like a robot.  This way, fans of robots and fans of Snatch can have the best of both worlds. Snatch’s nastiness is still there, but you get to explore it from a new angle. You get to fall in love with his character all over again. That’s what fan-creators who really know the original and care about craft integrity LOVE about fan creations, and it’s what other fans search for, too. But there’s a dark side. When fan works just becomes Lazy Self-Service. And that happens when a character’s Unbreakable Character Traits are treated like easily-snapped old rubber bands. Unfortunately, I’m just the original creator. I can’t stop people from breaking Scratch’s Unbreakable Character Traits. They don’t really understand Snatch himself—or else, they don’t really like him for who he is. They would rather see a story about a rat who falls in love. Or maybe they want a story about a green rat who learns the value of selflessness and proves the haters wrong.  But they don’t do the work to move Snatch from a selfish coward to a selfless cutie. They don’t write Snatch into a believable scenario that would force him to learn from his mistakes and become a better rat. They don’t explain why he would ever grow out of caring for himself above all else. Instead, they simply plop a rat character into a dangerous situation, and have him save a baby mouse’s life…he willingly shares cheese with Buster…he comforts sad lady rats…and the fan-creator tells everyone that the hero rat doing all this is Snatch.
This goes for characters like Snatch, who are simple or purposely nasty, and more complex characters like Sherlock Holmes or Tony Stark. No matter how complex or simple, most characters (that are good enough to have a fan following) do have Unbreakable Character Traits. Things that make the character who they are. Things that should not be changed without lots of hard work and believable buildup to explain the change.
Tumblr media
You see, much like real people, most characters need lots of experiences and hard knocks before they can change what makes them who they are. And if they do change those Unbreakable Character Traits, the fan creator will have to care more about the effort that it takes to understand a character and reproduce it faithfully…and care less about what makes them feel good to write without much hard work or risk.
So if you are making a story about Captain America, but he’s got trauma from losing his friends and can’t bring himself to rescue kids from a war zone because of it, then you’ve shattered one of his Unbreakable Character Traits: doing the right thing, especially when it’s hard for him. You’re not really making a story about Captain America anymore.
If you are making a story about Eddie Munson, but he’s a brave hearted warrior who takes Chrissy on a date to a fancy restaurant after beating up the whole basketball team, you’ve shattered his Unbreakable Character Traits: before the events of Stranger Things 4, Eddie Munson is afraid and runs from trouble, and he certainly doesn’t believe in conventional dates enough to spend money on a fancy restaurant. You’re not really making a story about Eddie Munson anymore.
If you are making a story about Snatch the Rat, but he’s a cute little guy just looking to be accepted by his neighbors, you’ve shattered his Unbreakable Character Traits: Snatch doesn’t care about acceptance, he only cares about grub and shelter. You’re not really making a story about Snatch the Rat anymore.
I could go on and on. But the point is: instead of writing a story you want to see and lazily dragging established characters along when they don’t fit, just make up your own character! Or change the original, but show your work. Either way, work harder.

I know I should stay off certain fan takes but they bleed into timeline even momentarily, Twitter enables this a lot of the time.
But if I see another conspiracy theory about Mile and/or Apo mistreatment because BOC have favorites, I am going to scream.
The fans have reached a point where it's just intentionally reading malice into every move, and that is the most exhausting mindset to be in. How difficult is to not assume, to not keep track of what's happening with other people you say you don't care about, and to not just be covetous of what the other side gets.
Repeatedly: we do not know behind the scenes what goes on. There is a level of transparency that can be demanded, but not everything, because contracts with advertisers and other members of the creative industry still have confidentiality clauses built into them. Not to mention that event work guidelines will differ all the time.
This is specifically in reference to the perceived oppression of Apo and his popularity because he didn't get a flight send-off but BBB did, but no one knows or has been able to confirm if (a) his official FC requested, (b) Apo preferred to keep flight details private until last minute (which is not at all implausible as he has expressed discomfort with stalking/wanting to keep his "off work" time private), and (c) as BOC has tweeted there appear to be confidential details being kept re: his work schedule and it's likely some sort of other extra work he's doing beyond the released event schedule, that they'll want to keep under wraps until the opportune time to publish it. On (c) this is a normal thing that happens! Projects may fall through hence details aren't released until finalized and sometimes that's right before the actual release of whatever it is!
Not to mention there's a real indication here as well that BBB's event contract includes their preparation process which is likely why BOC approved the flight send-off. Largely for the optics as it's going to be filmed.
Or the fact where people alleged the release of Mile's WanDay was orchestrated to specifically make Mile and Apo "fight" on the hashtag charts or whatever, since it was filmed around August, but. This is wild to me how people don't realize it takes time to edit footage, and they were in the thick of preparing for KPWT Phase 1 which is probably why they're only releasing longer footage now (the Mafia Kindergarten eps are 15mins long at most, quicker to churn out), and they may have had it queued in even before Apo's event schedule was confirmed. But it's insane to assume they chose this date to "war" with Apo's schedule or hashtag trending.
Which also makes me uncomfortable how much policing goes into what the fans have to be doing to "be a fan." Like. Fans are allowed to not trend hashtags, or choose to consume content at a later time, or maybe even choose what activity to keep up with at a certain time. Why are people fighting over "how to be a fan" and calling each other fake for only committing to trend for one person or whatever. It's unrealistic. People have varying attention spans and interests, let them be. Let them have their fan experience as they want it. Hashtag trending is one aspect and should be a fun thing to do, not something weaponized at this point.
Like. I am not a company stan and I do not want to be one, but assuming malice right out of the gate is so wild when you could just. Wait for more details, or clarify things. Anything but jumping straight into "must defend" mode when no one is being attacked. Coveting and comparing is not something I expected to see in a fandom for actors, who all will get very different opportunities anyway according to their branding and preferences.
And I know BOC also instigated a lot of this as well with their past unprofessionalism but they have recently actually been taking steps in the right direction. They're becoming more transparent, responding more quickly (they postponed Mile's WanDay vlog as soon as the fan feedback rolled in), and accommodating fan requests where applicable. It is definitely not perfect, but I'm uncomfortable with the "damned if you do, damned if you don't" gut reactions people are continuing to have.
Look, I'm not saying they don't deserve criticism. But maybe recognize we don't know all the details behind the scenes, and there is a good reason for that (contracts! confidentiality clauses!). Also work to remove yourself from a cycle of assuming the worst because it can literally fuck up your reactions so much that you get mad over the seemingly innocuous, harmless things.
Remember, the KP cast are very much social media aware. They see everything happening in real time (👀 Mile), don't put them between a rock (BOC, the company they will work with indefinitely and have personal stakes in) and a hard place (their fans, whom they're all so grateful for and are trying their damnedest to please).
TL;DR Life is 100x better when you wait and seek out more information rather than assuming malice at every turn.

Peggy Carter hate has flared up again. 😩😩 Yes, Marvel is doing a terrible job of promoting Sam as Captain America, but I don’t get why Peggy has to take the heat for it.

All of your posts dedicated to morality policing about the 'correct way' to mash two fictional characters together because you're trying to 'do the right thing' and 'make sure people behave' but not a single post or comment about being against an actual genocide...
Hmm, okay

Okay that's it! 😤
I've been staying quiet here on my blog while Twitter has been needlessly and relentlessly coming after Austin's throat and trying to gaslight fans (and the general public) into believing that Jacob Elordi somehow did a "better job" at portraying Elvis onscreen than Austin did simply due to Elordi watching "Lilo & Stitch" and eating a pound of bacon every single day.
Please -- 🙄😒
Tumblr media
But I cannot stay silent any longer.
Listen----There's no way on God's green earth someone is going to convince me with a straight face that Jacob did a "better job" as Elvis when Austin prepped for months, actually did valid research on Elvis and his life, read books, watched video footage, and had the additional pressure of not only having to act, but also SING, dance, play a musical instrument, and portray the life of a man that spanned over 20 years in that biopic.
No way in hell! 😤
Those are all LIES. The movie "Priscilla" had not even come out yet, and people on Twitter were already on the Austin Butler Hate Train, and trying to get some type of fan war going between Jacob and Austin. 😒
Listen---If people liked Jacob in "Priscilla", then that's fine (I don't have anything against the man), but what you're NOT going to do is undermine and downplay Austin's brilliant performance in "Elvis" simply because for some insane reason, you have a weird desire to hate on this man who's done absolutely nothing wrong towards you at all. 🙄

Just to be clear: I ship a lot of wild ass things, but you will not see me post hate for any ship. Why am I saying this? Well, to put it simply I ship both Zutara and Kataang. Please don't be cruel or rude to me because of this, I am too God damn old for this stupid ship war and I genuinely just don't care. If you want a fandom war just stay off this blog
Also since this is my pinned post THIS IS A NSFT AND GORE BLOG SO MINORS DO NOT INTERACT PLZ AND THANK YOU

Now here is an interesting thing about BL fandom - whenever there are fandom wars or something it's not really about the characters or the shows (for the most part) coz they don't last that long. You have 3/4 months with these characters and ships, etc. and then they are gone. Instead what the wars are about is the ACTORS. Because they, unfortunately (how horrible of them), continue to live. So whatever got projected onto characters in American show fandoms gets onto the actors.
Ultimately people need so badly to fight each other and prove their moral superiority that they don't care for REAL people. (smt smt religion smt smt)

"Dude, I don't understand how one religion can have different factions and be in kind of a civil war against itself! Wars of religions are so stupid, I would never have gone to war for such little differences in beliefs!''
