I was listening to the TTT soundtrack (The Funeral of Theodred specifically) while I was working and it kind of hit me that in that scene where Eomer thinks Eowyn is dead, that's it. In that moment, he thinks that in the course of less than a year he lost all of his remaining family members. His uncle (who was probably more like a father), his cousin (who was probably more like a brother), and his sister. All gone. Just like his parents. I can't even begin to imagine that kind of despair, or the massive relief it must have brought when it turned out that she was alive.

Today's update was so fucking touching Merry is such a moving character. Keeps thinking to himself on a loop that he's useless and a burden even though NO ONE ELSE thinks that. Feels so alone. Loves his friends. Is so brave.

Also iirc this is the literal first day (not even day, more like 10 hours) since SEPTEMBER he spends without Pippin and Tolkien immediately, twice, mentions that he misses Pippin lol poor baby

Kili

You and Kili meet during the quest to reclaim Erebor. Oddly enough you arrived on the quest right as the company were in the middle of fighting off a bunch of orcs. Gandalf was relieved to see you but the presence of such a cute human woman seemed to confused the rest of the company.

“Y/N! Thank the Valar you’re here!” Gandalf shouted as you walked into the fight.

Kili was confused and as he looked to see the sweet looking woman, he was awestruck. His awe and confusion only intensified as you were running towards him sword drawn.

“Get down!” He heard you shout as you pushed him aside, your blade landing in the guts of an orc.

Before he had the chance to thank you, you were off. Managing to slay just as many as the rest of the company combined, they all looked at you in awe.

“Guess I’ll be a good asset to the team.” You smile at the group of dwarves as you make your way back over to them.

“Especially to keep you safe.” You wink at Kili, causing the prince to smirk and blush.

Legolas

Legolas and you meet when he goes to Rohan to meet with his friend Eomer. You worked as a barmaid at one of the pubs in town and manage to make the sweet elf blush.

“Hello, your highness. The regular today?” You ask as you approach the table Eomer and Legolas sat at.

“Yes and please, just Eomer.” He politely replies.

“So sorry, and who is our lovely elf friend?” You ask smirking as you turned to a very cute blushing Legolas.

“This is Legolas. He is the prince of the woodland realm.” Eomer introduced.

“Would you like me to call you ‘your highness’ or just Legolas, sweetheart?” You ask the cute elf, now completely ignoring Eomer.

“Uh, ahem, a-ah, ju-just Legolas, is fine.” He shyly stutters out, earning a chuckle disguised as a cough from his friend, and sweet giggle from you.

“How long are you in town for, Legolas?” You ask him, your whole body now facing Legolas.

“Uh-ah, a-a couple more days.” He replies as a blush grows on his pale cheeks.

“Well I guess you’ll have to come back before you leave so you can take me somewhere nice.” You smirk and wink as you turn around, leaving a smirking Eomer and a blushing Legolas.

Lindir

Lindir and you meet when your friend Bard takes you to Rivendell for a spring festival. You watch Lindir play so beautifully that you become enthralled.

As Lindirs performance comes to an end you can’t help but enthusiastically cheer louder than the rest of the audience, embarrassing you slightly but leaving a light blush on Lindirs cheeks.

“You play so beautifully. We don’t have music like that where I’m from; your music sounds like something from a lovely dream.” You can’t help but gush at the sweet elf.

“We-well, thank you very much, I appreciated your applause. It’s not the response I usually get from other elves but that’s not necessarily a bad thing, my lady.” He confessed.

“I’m glad you appreciated it, I was a little embarrassed but I’m glad it brought you joy. I’m not very used to elven culture.” You shyly smile.

“Perhaps I could show you around the festivities, make you feel a bit more comfortable.” He offered.

“That sounds lovely.” You agree as you take the arm he offers.

            Éomer raised a hand to shade his eyes from the sun. With his other hand, he held up a sack full of bright, red apples. Whistling through his teeth sharply, Éomer called, “Firefoot! Come here!”

            Firefoot, who was grazing upon long, sweet grass some ways away, only swished his tail. Éomer supposed he was only glad the horse had not seen fit to relieve himself at his call.

            “Firefoot!” he called again. Ridiculous beast, he thought privately.

            This time, Firefoot did lift his tail to relieve himself.

            “Having trouble, my Lord?”

            Éomer dropped his arm and turned. “No,” he said stiffly. “I did not think to see you here today.”

            Lothíriel Queen of the Mark, once called Lothíriel of Dol Amroth, only raised a dark eyebrow at his words. “I am here every day.”

FAVORITE COSTUMES - THE LORD OF THE RINGS - POSSIBLY PART 1

The Lord of the Rings is a cinematic masterpiece. The directing and writing provides weight to the scope and the score is absolutely divine. Acting is on point but I think we need a new found appreciation for the costumes. LOTR has some of my favorite looks in film history. Now, some of them are not going to be flashy - but in my opinion it serves the purpose of perfectly highlighting the characters arc and journey.

Aragorn's ranger look - Practical - looks worn out - arm braces and things are added as the journey continues (proves loyalties - the strength of character)

Arwen's look from The Return of the King - It feels different - highlights a change in character and a turning point for her arc - stands out and does not blend into the atmosphere - expressive of her motivation to leave behind Rivendell

Boromir's Look from The Fellowship of the Ring - Practical and a juxtaposes with Aragorn's rugged look - Collects dust along the way and is worn out by the end - there are clues to indicate his loyalty to his home and it has a distinct silhouette - the bright red could indicate nobility but I'd say in a way it foreshadows his fate (thinking too deep into the premise)

Eowyn's White dress from The Two Towers - Signified purity - strength of character - she is the only one in that specific color palette so she doesn't blend in - stands out - it isolates her - again it's distinct from the elvish dresses worn by Galadriel and Arwen -

Merry and Pippin and those royal robes - Their loyalties to Gondor and Rohan - shared colors to show that they are bonded - silvers for Pippin and golds for Merry (Note - Pippin wore blues and Merry wore Yellows - similar tone) Shows their maturity and illustrates the difference they made.

Eowyn's dress in The Return of the King - Blends in - Still has white to signify purity - Brownish and red tones to show her desire to fight - A practical look that is worn out - Feminine silhouette which stands out from the battle look.

Eomer's Look from The Return of the King - Nobility - Worn out - distinctly red and gold - loyalties - once again a bold and distinct silhouette that makes him stand out from the rest - looks practical and can help him survive the circumstances of bad weather and bloody battles - The influences of the medievalism

Hello! Could you please write some headcanons for Aragorn, Faramir, Eomer and Frodo with a s/o whose love language is making them things? Like randomly making them art, poems, cooking and baking things for them and generally showing their love through making things for them? For instance, the only way I know how to flirt is by drawing people and showing it to them, and I love cooking and baking things for the people I love! Thank you so so much, happy holidays! Aragorn

Is very familiar with this type of love language. Elves use this type of love language often and being raised by them gave him the opportunity to get used to it and reciprocate the favor.

Absolutely adores the gifts he receives, whether it's art, writing, baked goods etc. He appreciates all of it and will thank his lover with words of affirmation or a kiss if they allow.

Very proud to show off what they made to everyone he can. Boasting about his beloved's skills and kindness.

Faramir

He's so appreciative of the gifts he receives. Always surprised when he gets them, but thankful nonetheless.

He will treasure his gifts and be very protective over them, they have a special place in his room.

No one is allowed to touch them, and if they ask where the gifts are from he will get a bit flustered and tell the person it's none of their business.

Eomer

He can't help but smile when he receives the homemade gifts. He knows how much time and effort goes into things like this and is very thankful.

Has a habit of returning the favor by making gifts of his own, particularly carved wooden figures or even just a bouquet of wildflowers he had picked.

Eomer holds each and every one of the gifts in high regard and proudly displays them around his home.

Frodo

Frodo has received gifts like this his whole life, though it's different when they come from his lover.

He's more appreciative, and it gives him butterflies in his tummy when he receives them. He keeps their gifts in his room, in small trunk under his bed.

He treasures these gifts and would hate to have them broken, or ruined in some way so he keeps them safe. Pulling out the gifts before bed sometimes and smiles as the familiar butterflies come back.

Dear @scyllas-revenge: I want you to know that after trying and failing miserably for more than four months to resume work on Chapter 2 of Taken, after receiving your comment this morning, something FINALLY clicked and the words started flowing again. ROP Week 2023: Elendil

For #ROPWeek2023, I'm going to do a post on Elendil. Honestly, my favorite character prior to episode 3 was Halbrand, but then Elendil showed up and spoke in his rich baritone and it was like I shoved Halbrand out of the way and latched onto Elendil.

I know very little about him in canon (still working my way through Silm) but the ROP version has won me over. He's like my favorite character parts all rolled into one: a simple man who wants to do right by his people and his family, a family man, and a noble and kind person.

I really appreciate how much work was put into this character. He doesn't write off Galadriel simply for being an elf, he tries to help her, ostensibly because the sea put her in his path--and "the sea is always right"--but also because Elendil is just a Good person. When Halbrand hugs him, he's weirded out, but he doesn't push the guy away, he just kind of nods and moves on. When Galadriel butts heads with Tar-Miriel, he tries to play peacemaker without belittling either woman. When Miriel is blinded, he does his best to support and aid her, while, again, not being condescending or demeaning to her. He respects her as his queen, in spite of her condition.

Someone else on this site pointed out how he's a good PARENT as well. Maybe because I was a daddy's girl when my dad was alive, but Elendil just appeals to me SO much as a character. He does his best to support his children, even if he doesn't always "get" them. When Earien gets the position in the architect guild, he's over the moon. When he finds out Isildur helped, he turns to his son with a happy smile. When he's in the middle of a battle and his son is panicking at the thought of his dear ol' dad being injured, rather than tell him "hey, we're in the middle of a fight, get ahold of yourself", he takes the time to look his son in the eye, lower his voice, grip his shoulder, and tell him, "I'm ALL RIGHT." This even extends to Galadriel. He sees this headstrong, fiery elf warrior maiden and is like, "welp, guess I have another child now." When she challenges the recruits to spar with her, he's watching with a Proud Dad Smile.

I didn't expect to go into Rings of Power and find ANOTHER favorite Tolkien character (whose name begins with an "E", amusingly my favorites are Elendil, Elrond, and Eomer, and my favorite member of the Valar is Este the Gentle) but the writing and acting that went into this character won me over, and I'm excited to see what season 2 holds for my favorite Numenorean captain.

And here, to close it out, we actually have the frames that inspired this whole post. It turns out that most of the time, the Orcs' legs are either too thin or too hidden - though some of them still stretch well, I'd say - but from the first time I saw this scene, I've always thought that this dude's thighs have it going on:

So, there we have it. There are some other good still-frames, but Tumblr will only allow so many pictures to be in one post, and I didn't want to push it. Plus, a lot of them come from the scenes that some of these were derived from, some very close at hand, in regard to them.

The takeaway is, that the trove of hot guy-thigh material in this film is another thing that gets criminally overlooked. (You know, aside from the relentlessly present "Gondor has no pants" jokes.)

Can we all just do like Kramer and appreciate the scandalously beautiful views?

Eomer is not someone I've written for before, so I do ask for a little leeway as I feel out how I write for his character.

Eomer strikes me as someone who can be a bit of a flirt. And who enjoys it /immensely/. So he would definitely appreciate someone who can match his energy and play long with the flirting and teasing

But only with him. He's not outwardly possessive, but can definitely be a jealous bitch.

You want to play games, you play with him. Anybody else, and this isn't fun any more all of a sudden, and he's glaring daggers at anyone showing any interest in you.

He's lost pretty much his entire family, so he's pretty cautious about opening his heart up again... but once he does... oof- he's got it /BAD/.

Like you have this man's entire being, heart, soul, and everything, directly in the palm of your hand, and he is fully trusting you to be gentle and take care with it.
