Hello! I am SO hyperfixated on the fact that the overblot form CAN be controlled??? That’s the case with Malleus isn’t it? And I guess on one hand I can see how Idia can control it too because of his “curse/blessing” (and sheer will and spite).

Maybe this is foreshadowing that maybe it’s possible for the other OB boys to do so as well???? I don’t know how it’ll work with them but I’m so excited. Overblot cards potential AAAH

Yeah, I definitely think that OB Idia battle segment opens the floodgates for potential SSR Overblot Troublemaker(s) cards 💀 (RIP to the OB gang fans)

As a refresher for everyone (since it has been a while), alllllll the way back in book 1, Crowley and Cater describe “overblot” as thus: “[… being] overcome by negative energy and[…] losing control of [one’s] magic and emotions,” and “evil berserk mode”.

We’ve seen many examples of these traits in the main story campaign; oftentimes, the OB boy in question is impossible to reason with and has to be subdued via battle. However, it’s important to note that while the OBs may be primarily driven by their emotions, it is not purely rage but rather negative feelings in general. Yes, many OBs (Riddle, Leona, Azul, Vil, etc.) do attack others—but other OBs demonstrate moments of calm (ie when their demands are met). For example, Jamil is tame when he believes he has banished Kalim, secured hypnotized Scarabia mobs, and reigns over the dorm as its new leader. I do believe anger is still a large component of the behavior of one who has overblotted though; that rage most certainly clouds a person’s judgment and compels them to strike out at the slightest thing.

Now, about the idea of “controlling” OBs… I don’t that that can actually be done?? We have to remember that Malleus is a VERY powerful mage—and this alone could give him an “edge” that others don’t when it comes to being fully aware while in OB (though I believe both Malleus and Vil indicate early on they notice their blot building). As Idia’s dad states, Malleus is drawing his magic from nature itself and therefore has a limitless supply it. Secondly, I wouldn’t call Malleus’s OB “controlling” it to begin with. It’s clear that he’s still running high on emotions and is unwilling to hear others out or have them interfere with his plans. These are still traits associated with OB; it’s not as though Malleus is “overriding” the unreasonable thoughts, he is still ruled by them and acts on them. I think what you (maybe?) mean is that Malleus has a much more calculating approach and more precise control over how he wields his power rather than indiscriminately smashing stuff in his path. This, again, could do with his insane power level compared to his peers. Unlike most other OBs, his goal (at least in his own framing) before he overblotted to begin with wasn’t to “take away”, but rather to “gift” happy endings to everyone. This sets him apart just based on interests alone, and that’s perhaps why he acts the most different in the lot.

Now let’s consider the circumstances under which Idia OBs a second time: it’s in a dream, meaning it’s questionable whether or not this would transfer over to real life. Because it’s Idia’s dream, he has more autonomy in it, particularly because he is now “awake”/conscious of the fact that it is a dream. Secondly, Idia bears the Shroud family’s curse/blessing, which allows him to “power up” the more blot is present, as it serves as fuel for his magic. This alone makes him a “special case” which could explain the unusual amount of control he exerts over his OB form. (Again though, I’d wager it’s mostly the dream environment.)

I do see maybe the other OB boys doing a similar “oh, lemme OB to help you guys fight” in a dream situation where there are fewer limits on what they can do, but not in a real world setting. It would put them all at risk anyway, as they lack Idia’s curse/blessing or Malleus’s fae powers. Is that worth the risk, knowing they could all die or potentially turn on their classmates?

I just don’t see OB becoming a “tool” or a magical girl transformation the characters could pull out for combat purposes in the story (though this is possible for like the gameplay outside of the story). I highly doubt OB is like something you could train yourself to control; it’s less like bulking up at the gym and more like pushing yourself to keep exercising while you’re high on adrenaline… Sooner or later, you’d burn out and injure yourself in that overexertion.

If there ever are OB cards, I can easily see them as being the type that don’t come with vignettes because… what reasonable story could you conjure up to explain the OBing again? If there are vignettes, then they most likely won’t fit into the main story canon. You’d have to frame the OB cards as “within the moment” of whatever book they OB’d in, and perhaps go more in-depth about the trauma or something along those lines.

The day Yuu introduced any of Octavinelle trio as their mate (Let alone all 3 or just 2), a part of their soul dies 1. Beacuse he knows they mate for life and 2. Beacuse on the list of suitable suitors for his dear pup all of Octavinelle was on the bottom in the F tier. He has a slight heart attack and gives "the dad talk" to them.

S tier is Vil but he is happy his puppy ended up with someone who wasn't a criminal.

Ah, I love assigning Crewel as the dad against his will. I do believe that he and Trein out of the staff are the best parental figures to Yuu. Let's be honest, Sam is like an older cool brother, Vargas is your way too into sports uncle, and Crowley is the dad that you don't call your dad anymore cause he was a really shitty dad. I imagine his relationship with Yuu is closer to bickering siblings with a maaaaasive age gap.

Anyways, yes Crewel has a tier list:

His main priority is making sure that you end up with someone who has/will have a good foundation to take care of you, especially since you don't have any family (other than him now) to be your support if something goes wrong. Is other priorities are that they will be generally good to you, you'll be in no danger, and that they're responsible.

S tier is Vil, you're correct. Vil is one of his top students, is respectful, has a wonderful taste in fashion and makeup, makes good money even now, and comes from a good family. Crewel knows that with Vil, his pup will be taken care of! This is simialr with Trey, someone who is doting and kind and also comes from a good family), and Riddle. He thinks Riddle is good, hard worker that will be loyal and dedicated to you, as well as provide a solid home and family. Even if his mother's a bitch, he has a good background and lineage... plus you'd live near him over school breaks.

I actually don't think he'd have that much of an issue with Azul. Yes, he can be shady, but Azul does well in school, is very motivated to become a great business owner, and has a good family that owns a restaurant. The others in this section are also solid people who Crewel thinks would cherish and care for you. Deuce is probably the most surprising… but Deuce is very earnest and cares very deeply for his family. While he may not have the best track record, and doesn't have a rich family, Deuce cares very deeply and will make sure that his partner is happy no matter what. Thus, Crewel approves.

Neutral is pretty self-explanatory, but the “ooh, really?” is very interesting, as it's filled with arguably the richest and prominent students. Which is why he does not like them. Kalim regularly deals with assassination attempts, Leona is an arrogant second-born prince from a nation with numerous issues, and Malleus is the crown-prince of an isolated nation that is known to not like humans. He'd be worried about any sort of stress you'd be under, especially since you'd be publicized, and while he trusts Vil to keep a tight grip on the tabloids due to his career, he can't extend the same courtesy to what are quite frankly political figures. He knows that they have the means, family, and personality to love you. Arguably, these three are the type that once they fall, they fall hard and become devoted to their partner. But… still… are you sure you wanna get with them?

For the bottom tier…. Yeah. The twins are shady troublemakers, and while Azul at least has a good family, Crewel can figure nothing out about the Leech family or what they do. They enjoy scaring other students, and while Jade at least does well in school, he and Floyd are just not what he thinks you deserve. Ace is… well… Ace. Rook, as much as he enjoys having him in class and in the science club, is a bit too eccentric for his tastes. He'd be worried about Rook drawing the line between love and obsession. Finally, Idia is just a shut in who has little to no social skills, bad habits, and lives very far away. Crewel firmly believes that you'd become some sort of house spouse cleaning after a man-child, too busy with his games to help you out.

Overall, though, Crewel knows that he can't control who his pup falls for, but he can give a very solid shovel talk with a very solid warning about what happens to bad dogs that don't treat their partners right.

Warning: expanding on that copium theory

The reason why I want Crowley to actually turn out to be Malleus' father is not to give him a dad. We have Lilia for that. It's exactly because Lilia is there; I think it's an important lesson to convey that it is not the blood that connects, rather the memories that you make. Lilia wasn't at all the best father figure, but he was there when Malleus had no one. When no one wanted to be there for him.

Levan may have had a good reason for his disappearance. He may be inflicted with something as overused as amnesia, he may be plotting something incredibly evil, or he may have all those years been preparing and sacrificing something for the sake of their family. Whichever way, it was his choice to be absent and nothing can ever change that fact. He wasn't there when Malleus needed love. He wasn't there when Malleus needed guidance. And if he indeed turns up and reveals himself, Malleus is not at all obligated to love him or even forgive him in the slightest.

And I don't think Levan would beg for forgiveness anyway. He made a choice, and I trust he's smart enough to know what he sacrificed for that. I don't think he would ever hope for forgiveness. Maybe he just wants to ensure a beautiful future for his son before he could burn in the pits of hell. Or maybe he just wants to selfishly touch his most beloved one last time before he lets hell take him.

I know Malleus deserves better. He really does-- he's easily the most pitiful character in the game as he hasn't really had genuine happiness and fulfillment besides his fleeting memories with his foster family. But media is also a perfect way to convey a powerful message, and if my favorite character must suffer further for that, then so be it.

Sorry I haven't been posting, I didn't have any motivation!

There were many things that were well known about Y/n, most people considered him an open book, but his family life stayed a mystery.

There were a few things that people could gather by just talking to him; his mom died, his dad remarried (Persephone), and he had known the shroud brothers for a long time.

The reason Y/n kept his family a secret was because he saw how people would avoid Malleus, leaving him alone and unwelcomed, but for some ungodly reason, nothing could be left a secret in this school.

Family day.

A day that Y/n had managed to avoid in the past thanks to either Idias hacking or a quick excuse that only makes sense because Crowley is an idiot.

But this year he forgot all about the dreaded day.

The day started as any other, he straightened out his uniform, found something to drink, and started making his way to the cafeteria.

But then he saw those gargoyles from the underworld waiting for him in the second he stepped out of his dorm mirror.

"He he- see I told you he'd be here if we waited long enough!" The shorter one spoke.

"Well, excuse me for hoping the boy had learned to get up earlier for once!" Panic shouted back.

"What are you two doing here?" Y/n asked, stunned.

"Well, we just missed ya and your horrible attitude soooo much!" Pain started. "NO! Its family day dumb-fuck."

"Does that mean dads here!"

"Of course, he is, he wasn't going to miss is first AND only chance to see you at your school." The taller one said in a tone most wouldn't dare have with the son of a god.

"FUCK! I gotta go!"

And just like that, the teenager was off like his head was going to be cut off.

"Not even a 'How are you?' or 'How's the Underworld?' Typical."

The cafeteria was filled with people in awe of one of the most recognizable people in the world. No one had the nerve to approach him as he tried to find his son and instead just circled around him, entranced by his existence.

"Have any of you seen my son?" The god asked the crowd, "He's about this tall, Ingihyde, of course, and always half asleep."

"Uncle! So good to see you." A familiar pair of horns made its way through the crowd.

"Ah, Malleus, have you seen Y/n? It appears no one else here as." Hades asked as he brought the younger boy in for a hug.

Malleus chuckled, "Unfortunately, not today, he normally sleeps in quite late."

"I assume he got that habit from that Shroud boy?"

"Probably."

"DAD!"

Everyone turned to see the boy whose father left everyone so stunned and audible gasps were heard as students quickly realized the similarities between their magic.

"Y/n! My boy! How have you been? Have you finally made some new friends?"

"What do you mean new friends! I have plenty of friends-"

"Name three other than Idia and Ortho."

"Well, there's Silver, and..." He thought for a moment "Well how have you been?"

"Well busy with the Underworld and ACTUAL responsibilities, unlike Zeus and the other gods."

"Yeah, yeah, let's go talk about that outside." Y/n said trying to rush his dad outside.

As they entered the courtyard Y/n noticed Deuce showing his mom around and Ace getting bullied by his brother. As Hades rambled on to his son about how unfair his job was Crowely took notice of the god and quickly made his way over in hope of some positive publicity.

"Y/n! I'm so happy to see you and your father enjoying yourselves!"

"Well, everything would be perfect but we're waiting on a couple more people." Hades started. "Do you think you could tell them where we are?"

"Who else did you invite!?" Y/n could already feel the eyebags start to form under his eyes as he wished he'd stayed in bed.

"Asra and Persephone!" Hades smiled.

"Stay here I'll go find them."

"Stay here and do what? I'll be bored out of my mind."

"Talk to Crowley or something! I don't care, just stay here!"

Y/n made his way back to the Ingihyde dorm, if he was going to do this, he was going to make Idia suffer with him.

"Get your ass up! It's family day!" The boy just barged into the others dorm, as he often did.

"What does that have to do with me!?"

After a couple minutes of arguing, Idia was now walking close behind Y/n with his tablet in hand. The loud environment was Idias worst nightmare, and he will never know how he was talked into this.

"Y/N!"

That was all the two heard before said boy was tackled to the ground by a familiar head of long white hair. A few looks a shock were shot their way making Idia jump.

"Asra! GET OFF OF ME!"

"So whiney!" She stuck her togue out. "Are you mad cause I interrupted your time with you boyfriend!"

Once again Idia jumped from something the girl did. This has been an ongoing joke that was only funny to one girl and very annoying to the brother and his friend.

"He wishes!" Y/n said, shoving his sister lightly.

"Now kids," a voice so graceful that it could only belong to one person spoke. "We're in public, act like it."

Soon the four made it back to the courtyard where Malleus, Pain, and Panic had joined Hades and Crowley.

"So, you started the Gargoyle club in our honor, right?" Panic asked, nudging Malleus.

Malleus laughed in response, "No but you two did he with my interest in gargoyles."

As soon as the four joined the crowed Crowely insisted he get a picture.

"It will be perfect for the school Magicam! Now say 'family!'"

Sebek: Sensei! *his voice filled with worry* Aren't you supposed to be in the hospital right now?!

MC: *chuckles* I'm fine, Sebek. It's only a minor injury.

Ace: MINOR INJURY?!! YOU GOT SHOT!!!

Epel: Ace is right! We were worried about you!

MC: That's why you shouldn't be watching TV during class hours. Though I always allow you in my time, didn't I? Hehe~.

Professor Crewel: Professor MC, please come with me so we could clean that up.

MC: Thank you, Sir Crewel~. I'm glad you're just as calm as always.

Professor Crewel: *frowns* Indeed I am. However, you need to be scolded for pulling that stunt.

MC: Aww... Can I please wear headphones if you do? I've already got an earful from Mr. Venue.

The NRC students: *had all watched how the dating show had turned into a whole chaotic situation*

*Vil's dad almost getting kidnapped right after the winner was announced.*

*Professor MC fighting off the kidnappers and treating it like a children's game, where they even allowed one of them to shoot because they felt bad of how 'clumsy' they were*

Crowley: Professor MC! I didn't expect you to be this careless!

MC: *sad frowns*

Professor Trein: What you did is a bad example of someone who is supervising the disciplinary department of this school.

MC: Ow... I think my wound actually hurts... *smiles* May I take my leave now?

Crowley and Professor Trein: *frowns* *then sigh*

Crowley: You may.

MC: Thank you, sir~. I'll go see my students.

The students: *frowning at them*

Floyd: *except him* You were so cool, sensei.

MC: Thank you, Mr. Leech. *smiles*

Jamil: It was amazing, yes, that Sensei handled those kidnappers in a graceful manner. However, allowing them to hurt you so you would be even was something I didn't expect from you.

MC: You're right about that, Mr. Viper. After all, I have taught everyone else to use everything at your disposal while ensuring your own safety.

Jade: Then, why didn't you do that, sensei?

Malleus: Because they're more than capable of doing anything.

Azul: If someone is strong, they would foolishly let their guard down. However, MC-sensei did that to mock them.

MC: *chuckles* Oh. Don't phrase it like that. I actually felt bad for them.

Leona: You're kinda twisted too, sensei.

Idia: It's almost scary.

Vil: Enough of this conversation. Sensei, my dad sent you a blender. Since that's the only thing you've asked him.

Vil: *frowning a little* Are you sure this would be enough?

MC: Why, yes. I've already bought some fruits to try it. That's right! How about I treat you all to a small, fruitshake party?

The students: YOU GET REST!

MC: Aww... *sad pout*

Crowley: Professor MC will be resting for a week until they're fine to teach classes again.

Professor Trein: Headmage, there's something I would like to inform you.

Crowley: What is it, Professor Trein?

Professor Trein: The Queen of Briar Valley, the King of Sunset Savannah, and the head of Al Asim's want to meet Professor MC as soon as possible.

Crowley: ...

Crowley: Why do I feel nervous?

Professor Trein: I don't know...

MC: *drinking their fruit shake alone* *sigh*

MC: I can't believe I've got scolded by my students.

MC: Have I taught them too much?

MC: ...

MC: Hehe.

I was rereading book 6 and IF THIS IS THE REASON FOR RAVERNE NOT COMING HOME IN THE CROWLEY = MALLEUS’S DAD THEORY I’M GONNA GO “???????” 😭

On a surface level it makes too much sense…? Idia’s dialogue implies River Lethe worked differently in the past (maybe it was weaker?), as well as it having unknown or harder to predict effects on fae due to how long their lifespans are compared to the average human/beastman/merman. This could mean memories beyond just those associated with STYX were purged. It’s SUPER sus because Idia cites “You wouldn’t want to erase info that someone with a long life span would be expected to know.” Like mayhaps… memories of a family he left behind???

… But then I think about it for longer and my thoughts start being contrarian 😅 Even if Raverne/Crowley’s memories were erased, that still doesn’t explain why he always wears a mask, why he talks completely differently (do amnesiacs do that????), why Lilia didn’t recognize his old close friend right away, etc. Crowley wearing the mask all the time seems especially intentional (like he wants to conceal his identity at all times), which would imply he's trying to hide in plain sight... which would mean he does have some of his memories??? I don't know, that's confusing and would have to be further explained by other details. I also recall Leona, someone who is of high status and also royalty, having the privilege of seeing the Ferrymen in the Sunset Savanna’s palace. He still seems to remember who they are and what they do (since he used a very specific term for them). Why isn’t his memory purged?? Do royals get a special pass?? (In this case, why wasn’t Raverne/Crowley spared? He was a duke prior to marrying a crown princess!!). Was he just not noticed???

But anyway!! Do with this knowledge what you will 👍 I’m just talking off the cuff and providing both the pros and cons of this info ^^

TwstxStardew Valley au!

Yuu inherited the Ramshackle farm from their grandfather. It's located in the little town of Night Raven in the Valley of Sages. Shortly after moving in, they find a cat called Grim. Now it's up to Yuu to restore the farm and town to it's former glory. All the characters are the townsfolk, all the staff are the ones that run the local businesses, and Crowley is the mayor. And all the students are the marriage candidates.

Sam runs the general store, but unlike Pierre he's pretty cool. Vargas is the blacksmith. Trien is the librarian, and his cat hangs out amongst the shelves. Crewel I was thinking we have a new business that is the local clothing store where you can buy the bag upgrade from him and instead of the sewing machine being in Emily's house, it's in the shop. So all that stuff would be in one place.

Kalim as the resident animal lover I can see being the one that sells you your farm animals. Maybe his business is a branch of his parents much larger business that he runs and Jamil is his employee.

I feel like it goes without saying that Idia is the Sebastian here. He's the freelance programmer living in his parents basement, and Ortho Is his kid brother you see running around town that always tells Yuu about how cool his brother actually is.

Silver lives with his veteran dad in their little cottage in the woods outside your farm, they like living off the land out there. I can also see Lilia and Baul as the ones that run the adventurers guild. Maybe the Zigvolt family dental clinic is also in town and Sebek works there. And in that same vein, maybe Mrs. Rosehearts is the town doctor and her son, Riddle, is her assistant. She's planned everything out that Riddle will become a doctor like her and take over the clinic one day.

Epel is still a farm boy here, it feels right, he's in his element in this au. The Felmiers run an orchard on the opposite side of town. His granny used to know your grandpa, and maybe Farmer Yuu can buy fruit tree saplings from them.And of course get a good price on the apple ones.

Deuce is the former town delinquent that lives with his single mom. He's doing his best to turn their life around, he grew out of his old ways and wants to do better. I can see his heart events being about people assuming he's going to cause trouble because of his old habits and Deuce having to prove he's not that little teenage punk anymore. And instead of Idia/Sebastian, Deuce is the one that takes you on the motorcycle date if you romance him.

Mostro Lounge is the equivalent of the Stardrop Saloon, and Azul is th owner with the tweels working for him.

Malleus I can see being the one that lives in the wizard tower in the woods outside your farm. He's studied magic all his life because it's all he's ever known. But he wants very badly to interact with the town and the villagers, but everyone tends to stay away. The only exceptions being Lilia, Silver, and Sebek. That is until Yuu moves in and discovers his tower, and once Malleus helps them understand the Juiminos in the community center, they become better friends.
