Emma confronts her parents about Neal, and it leads to a heart-to-heart with a certain pirate.

When Emma takes that potion and gets her memories back, she has several realizations--including her feelings for Hook. This leads to them getting earlier than in canon.

There's some angst, lots of tenderness, and much internal dialogue.

How Restlessly the Stars Do Gleam - rated m (language, violence), 9 chapters and counting, 44k+

Princess Emma isn't the princess of much anymore. It's been months since her parents and brother were taken, and she's been on the run with her godmother Red (she's a werewolf and doesn't age, whether or not that detail is canon because I honestly can't remember). When Emma and Red board a merchant vessel to sail to Arendelle, Emma quickly finds that the captain is not to be trusted. After helping two slave brothers (Liam and Killian, if you didn't figure that out already), Emma takes over the ship and begins her journey to save and rebuild her kingdom.

We've got action, we've got adventure, we've got the most badass Emma I've ever written--there's tension and brothers and curses and love! What more could you want? (Is it Will Scarlet? Because he's also gonna be in this)

Keep Your Heart Beating - rated g, 1k+

A short missing/extended scene of Emma returning Killian's heart. A little angst, a little fluff. For anyone who watched that scene and needed it to be a million times longer.

it would kill me (if you didn't know) - rated m (language, violence), 10k+ in two parts

They saved Henry but all got separated in the process, and when they finally made it back to the ship, Emma realized that they were down a man. She's just gonna have to save him.

This features some pretty awesome Emma/David bonding, too.

This is a classic 'Killian's been taken while saving them and now he's being tortured and Emma isn't gonna stand for it' fic. I've read them all, and I just needed more. POV switches 3rd person between Killian and the others.

On Their Terms - rated g, 1k+

Startled awake in the middle of the night, Emma finds herself at Killian-no, Hook's door at Granny's. Post The Kiss (you know the one, 3b), with both of them not quite sure of where they stand.

Laughter, Love, and Other Products of a Quarantine - rated m (language), 8k+

Emma Swan has been roommates with Liam Jones for years, but hates his brother. Okay, so she's met him once and it was a brief encounter, but still. But of course he's visiting for the week when the mandated quarantine happens. And of course Liam just happens to be out of town for the weekend when it does.

High school au. Will bets Killian $100 that he can't get Emma to go on a date with him. He really needs the money, and he can only hope that she's the charitable type.

AN- I hope you enjoy part two of OP character receiving a friendship bracelet! (You can find part one that included Roger, Ace, Shanks, Marco and Doffy here)

🍶 Zoro was confused at first but smirked seeing what it said “Best swordsman huh?” “You need to make one for curly brows that says “Dumbest cook.”

🍶 Immediately took that back saying he wants to be the only one you make bracelets for

🍶 He noticed there was some spare room on the bracelet, so he came up with a idea to fill the blank spots

“You were pretty tough.” Zoro said, putting his swords back into their sheath. “I’ll get my girl to add you to my bracelet.”

“Excuse me?” Despite being half dead, the bloody man lifted off of the ground with a rather angry expression. “What the hell does that mean?”

“You see this?” Zoro bends down, showing the man the many beads decorating the bracelet. “They represent my victories, and since I won against you, she’ll add a bead to it.” The man could only give Zoro a baffled look knowing he was now nothing more than a mere bracelet charm. “Anyways, nice fight and all but I gotta go. Which way is the exit?”

“To the left.”

“Thanks.”

“You fool, that's the right!”

(To bad the bracelet doesn’t have a GPS)

Luffy

🍗 Rubber boy was very excited when you gave it to him

🍗Would walk up to strangers to show them saying “Y/N made me this, I bet you're jealous!”

🍗The only person that was genuinely jealous was Sanji

🍗 Tries to take good care of it, note TRIES

“Y/n…..” You look and see Luffy peeking his head into your room with an unusual gloomy look on his face.

“What’s wrong Luffy?” He padded over to you and laid the bracelet, or more like parts of the bracelet in front of you.

“It broke earlier during the fight. ” You knew from his tone he felt bad. “I’m sorry.”

“It’s okay!” You rummaged through the remains and smiled realizing the damage wasn’t irreversible. “I can fix it.” The frown on your captain’s face was finally replaced by that wide smile you know and love. “I’ll even make it more durable so it’s harder to break!”

“You’re the best.” Luffy nearly sent you to the floor as he snaked his limbs around your body. “Also can you make one for my other wrist?”

“Sure what do you want it to say?”

“Meat.”

(I mean it’s Luffy, what did you expect?)

Sanji

💛-You might as well have proposed to the man

💛- Picks you up immediately and starts spinning saying “We might as well plan our wedding~”

💛- A little bummed to hear you weren’t proposing, but is still eccentric that you made him something

“What kind of fighter doesn’t use his hands?” The beaten looks up at Sanji

“Listen pal, my hands are only meant for two things. For Cooking…” His serious face scrunches up to his signature lovestruck idiot. “And for wearing bracelets made by my dear Y/N-Swan~”

(Please make this man more bracelets)

Bartolomeo

💚 -His soul ascends into the clouds seeing that you made him something (Bonus points if your a straw hat pirate)

💚-Would fall to the ground and cry for a good half hour claiming he was “unworthy.”

💚- But despite loving the bracelet, he NEVER wears it

“Look at what was bestowed upon me.” He proudly holds up a small display case. “A friendship bracelet handcrafted by none other than Miss Y/N.”

The entire Strawhat lovers congregation would ooh and awe at the encased bracelet.

“I could sit all day and bask in the sheer awesomeness.” Bart hits the floor with tears running down his face. “I just…I love her so much.”

“Oh no boss man’s going down!”

“What do we do?!”

“I don’t know, but we better figure something out. Were losing him!”

Luckily after a cold towel and some fanning, the Barto Club was able to revive their green haired leader.

(Please do not make this man any more bracelets , unless you want to send him into a coma.)

Sabo

🎩- You had no idea what you were really getting yourself into

🎩-You know how people flex their engagement rings? Yeah Sabo’s going to do that… a lot

🎩-“Oh this thing? Well my beautiful Y/N hand crafted it for m-“ Would go on and on when literally no one asked 💀💀💀

“Y/N come quick it’s Sabo!” You follow Hack in a full blown panic as he leads you down to the RA’s infirmary.

“Sabo!” You see him lying in one of the beds breathing heavily with a towel on his forehead. “What happened?”

“Y/N….” You rush to his side and he takes your hand in his. “I’m sorry. But…” Tears roll down his face. “I promise I did everything in my power to save it….”

“To save what Sabo?”

“My…..my…..MY BRACELET.”

….

“I’m leaving.”

“Why?” 🥺

“Sabo you literally went into shock, scared everyone half to death and ended up hospitalized , over a bracelet.”

“But it’s not just any bracelet.” He frowns. “You made it for me.”

“And I’ll make you another one.” You playfully roll your eyes. “So tell me what exactly happened to it?”

“To be honest, I burned it off accidentally.” He nervously scratches the side of his head. “I’m still not quite used to my new powers.”

“I see.” You nod. “I’ll see if I can somehow make one that’s fireproof.”

“You will?” The blonde smiles and wraps his arms around you, pulling you down with him on the bed. “I love you so much!”

“I love you too.” You let yourself relax into his hold. “With that being said, can you promise me that you'll never do this again?”

“You have my word not only as the chief of staff, but also as your overly dramatic boyfriend….. that I may do this again.”

(Sabo is a absolute drama queen and you cannot tell me otherwise)

Law

🫀- And the crowd goes mild

🫀- Literally had no initial reaction

🫀- Law would stare at it, then back at you, then back to the bracelet, then back to you

🫀- Poor man is not good at showing his emotions, so bear with him

“Why?” Law gives you a confused look while staring at your labor of love.

“Because I wanted to.” You shrug your shoulders, a little hurt seeing the lack of reaction.

“I see.” Law doesn’t put the bracelet on, instead he puts it in his pocket. “Thank you.” He immediately turns his attention away from you and goes back to working.

“Sure” You turn away with a frown. “I’ll go now, see you later.”

The second you leave the room Law is pulling that bracelet back out of his pocket while sporting the deepest shade of red on his cheeks.

He was so caught off guard and over the moon because of how cute and excited you looked while giving it to him that he completely went brain dead.

But he was now back to his senses and remembered the frown on your face as you left the room.

You were laying on your bed sulking when you heard a knock on your door followed by a “It’s me.” You recognize your boyfriend's voice, but you're still hurt from earlier so you don’t reply. Instead you bury your face deeper into the pillow

“SHAMBLES.”

“I didn’t say you could come in…” You spoke into the “pillow” which is now none other than Law.

“You also didn’t say I couldn’t.” His tattooed arms pull you closer into his chest.

“Guess not.” Despite being angry at him, you can’t help but enjoy the closeness. “Is there something that you need, captain?”

“Yes there is actually.” Law says in a matter of fact tone “I have a very important task to assign you to.” You look up at him completely confused. “I need you to make me a bracelet with our jolly Roger on it.”

“You want another bracelet?” You pull back from his hold. “I didn’t think you liked the first one I gave you.”

“I didn't like it, I loved it... see.” You smile seeing the bracelet was in its rightful place on his wrist. “So do you think you can do it?”

“Of course I can.” You jump up from the bed and run over to your desk that was covered in different colors of twine. “I’ll work on it right now!”

Law feels relieved seeing the smile he fell in love with back on your face. Mission accomplished. He was about to leave the room to let you work, but couldn’t help but notice a huge pile of bracelets sitting in a basket on your dresser.

“Damn Y/N you really like making these don’t you?” Law said while rummaging through the bracelets.

“Law, wait!” It was too late, he was already holding the cheesy couples bracelets you made out of self indulgence. “I umm. I just made these for fun..”

“Oh really?” Law smirks while spinning the bracelet around his finger. “If you don’t mind, I think I’ll take this one with me.”

“Are you sure?”

“I’m sure.” Law nods before throwing the other bracelet into your lap. “And you should wear yours too.”

Law leaves you an embarrassed mess, but at the same time, despite his “cool guy” act, he was just as embarrassed if not more. Why does she have to be so cute???

(Won’t say it out loud, but is loving the fact he now owns a bracelet that say “I ❤️ Y/N”)

“And then Johnny told me that I should go home and take a break, can you believe that?” Simon says as he paces around his room, he stops and looks at you: pretty as always as you listen to his rants from where you are: sat on his bed with his favorite shirt on you.

“Why would you need a break?” You ask confused as you fidget with the pillow on your lap.

“That’s exactly what I thought!” Simon says with a smile as he sits on the bed next to you, “I’m perfectly fine, don’t I look fine?”

“You look handsome and at your best, as always.” You reply with a smile as you place your hand over his, “Maybe it’s Johnny the one who needs a break.”

“That’s what I told him!” He says as he leans with his head on your shoulder, “And do you know what he said after? That I should talk to Price and find a solution!”

“Talk to Price? Like a child who goes crying to his daddy?” You chuckle and kiss the top of his head. “Will you go and talk to Price?”

“I guess I will, if he gives me some days to spend back home I could convince him to take you with me…” Simon says as he hugs you “And we could go see the museum that you wanted to see so badly.”

“The one I begged you to take me before the last mission?” You say excited and look up at him with wide eyes, Simon nods. “I can’t wait! Go and talk to Price now!” You say happily as you jump off the bed.

“Okay…I will, you calm down.” Simon chuckles as he walks to the door, but you stop him before he can exit his room.

“I love you, Simon.” You whisper with a nostalgic smile as you hug his pillow, Ghost looks at you confused.

“I love you too, sweetheart, I’ll be back soon.” He says with a smile as he walks to Price’s office, on his way there everyone avoids him – like they've been doing for weeks now – and gives him weird looks. After knocking he enters Price’s office and sits on the chair across the desk, in front of the Captain.

“Hello, Simon, everything’s okay?” Price asks with a soft smile as he looks at Simon from head to toe.

“Of course, everything’s perfectly fine.” Simon says as he shrugs his shoulders, “I wanted to ask for a few days off – Price’s expression fills with hope at his words – for me and Y/n, I want to take her to a museum that she’s begging me to visit.”

The hope in Price’s eyes dyes immediately as the last words leave the Lieutenant’s lips.

“Oh God…Simon…” Price says as he looks at him with a sad expression.

“What? We can’t have a few, maybe three, days off work?” Simon asks, a little irritated.

“Simon…I thought you had got over it…” Price whispers, “Simon…You know well what happened…”

“What? We already used all our days off?” Simon acts confused but there’s only one thought going on repeat in his head: your voice saying ‘everything’s okay’.

Price sighs and looks at Simon in the eyes, “Simon, Y/n got killed in action two months ago…You know it…She died in your arms, Simon.” The Captain says as he remembers how painful your loss was for everyone on the Task Force.

“Why do y’all continue to repeat this shit? It isn’t funny…Y/n is in my room waiting for me to take her to that museum.” Simon says and it doesn’t take long for Price to realize how deep in denial Simon is. Ghost continues to shift in the chair as he looks around the office.

“Simon…Y/n is dead, and there’s nothing you can do about it.” Price says as he looks at Simon with pity in his eyes.

Ghost stops his movements and looks down at his feet with a sigh, “I know it…” he whispers as reality hits him.

All the times in these two weeks where he talked to a pillow in his room which had your scent on it, all the times he hugged that same pillow, slept hugging it — all while pretending that it was you.

“But we didn’t go to that museum…” he whispers as he fights his tears, he won’t cry in front of Price, he may be close to him but he’s still the Task Force’s Captain.

“I’ll give you the days off that you asked for anyway, you can take some time to deal with your loss…Maybe you can go to that Museum Y/n wanted to see, even without her.” Price says as he looks down at the paper on his desk.

“I’ll take them, maybe…Maybe I do need a little break.” Simon says as he finally looks back at his Captain, “I’ll go prepare the luggage.”

“After this mission we’ll go back home and you’ll take me to the Museum, like you promised me!” You say happily. You and Simon are hiding in a building as you wait for the enemy to show up. “Even if you always postpone it, the exhibition will end and we still won't have gone!” You huff with a pout.

“Why do we have to go to a boring Museum?” he rolls his eyes annoyed, “we could…I don’t know…have some fun just us two instead…The exhibition will stay for another four months…”

“No. I want to go to the Museum!” You insist as you continue to stay alert anyway.

“If that’s what my darling wants…” Simon says as he closes his eyes and leans against the wall.

And that’s his mistake.

He usually doesn’t make mistakes during missions. Usually.

But this time things are different, he feels more relaxed. He shouldn’t.

He doesn’t notice the red dot on his chest. But you do.

“Ghost!” You scream as you move him away from the sniper’s viewfinder just as they shoot.

The bullet hits you in the chest.

“Y/n! W-Why…” Simon whispers in shock as he takes you and hides behind a wall, away from the sniper’s view. Or at least he hopes so. “Stupid idiot! Why did you do that! Hang in there!” he says as he calls for help through his earpiece.

“Oh shit…!” you moan in pain as you start to breath heavily, frenetically looking around until your eyes stop in Ghost’s, you smile, understanding that the end for you is near.

“Oi! Don’t pull this shit on me! Don’t smile like it’s the last thing you’ll do!” he says as he places his hands over your wound to try and stop the bleeding. “You aren’t going to die…You can’t die!” Simon says as tears start to form in his eyes.

The pretty brown eyes that you love so much.

“Simon…Hey…” I smile up at him, it’s ironic how it’s me who’s dying but I still want to comfort him.

“What? Help is on the way…You’ll live…Y-You can’t die…” his voice continues to get lower as he speaks “You can’t…Leave me…Alone…Here…Please…Don’t leave me alone.”

“Everything's okay…” You whisper with a forced smile, a smile that costs a lot. Just that takes away what could’ve been some more seconds of life. “I love you.”

“I love you too…But please…We…We have to go to that Museum, right? You really want to go there! You can’t die before going there!” he says as he hugs you, “Yea, that’s right…Help will come and you’ll survive and we’ll go to see that shitty museum, I’ll be bored but I’ll still listen to everything you say about the art pieces there…”

He continues to talk and hug you for minutes, unaware that for half of the time he was hugging your dead body.

“God, I don’t even know the name of the artist…But you’ll tell me, right? What’s their name? Y/n? Y-Y/n?” he stutters as he looks at your body in his arms, that’s when he notices that you aren’t breathing anymore.

Half an hour after you got shot.

“Fuck!” Simon curses as he wakes up. He’s sleeping on a mattress on the floor of the small apartment where he now lives. He couldn’t stay in your shared house after you passed away, there were too many memories. Everything reminded him of you.

And when he finally got some sleep the memory of your death went on replay in his dreams, or more like nightmares. Every time he closes his eyes he sees your lifeless body in his arms.

Every. Fucking. Time.

Even when he blinks.

And your last words echo in his ears, in his mind, in his heart.

“Everything’s okay.”

“I love you.”

I love you.

You loved him, that’s why you didn’t hesitate to save his life at the cost of yours.

But he didn’t understand that — he didn’t want to understand that.

Blaming himself was easier.

“Fuck it.” Simon says as he stands up from the ‘bed’ and goes into the bathroom to take a shower.

He will go to that stupid Museum, even alone. That was your last wish, and he will honor that.

Cold water runs on his tattooed body, as he cries, again. He doesn’t deserve the luxury of taking a hot, relaxing, shower — that’s what he thinks.

It should’ve been me, goes in replay in his head. He deserves to die, not you.

He was the monster, not you, you were his little ray of sunshine in his rainy days — everyday.

“Da Vinci, uh?” Simon says as he looks around the exhibit of all Da Vinci’s works, the only missing is the Monalisa, the Louvre didn’t want to give it, they were afraid of someone stealing it.

He stood in front of Y/n’s favorite: Leda and the Swan.

He didn’t know why she liked that particular piece, for him it was kind of disturbing, especially the fact that Zeus slept with Leda in Swan form.

And the fact that she birthed eggs.

When Y/n was still with him she would tell him all the myths she knew and he would often comment with things like: ‘that’s fucked up’ , ‘what the fuck?’ , ‘how do you like this kind of things?’

But now, his new apartment was full of books about Greek mythology and Greek myths.

Now there’s a fresh tattoo on his chest, right over his heart, a simple phrase: Y/n, my goddess. You told him many times that saying that someone is as beautiful as a goddess (worse if the goddess is Aphrodite) is basically asking to get cursed for life.

But he didn’t believe it, nor does he believe it now. But he can only hope for a curse, in the end, you’re already dead…

What curse can be worse than this?

His death? That would be a blessing.

Giggles.

He hears a girl giggle and that takes him out his thoughts, deep and dark thoughts. He looks to his right and sees a girl giggling as she looks at a painting and talks with a guy, her boyfriend maybe.

“What do you find so cool about this painting?” the guy asks as he tilts his head and looks at the painting, the lady with an ermine.

“I don’t know…I just…like it.” The girl says with a smile.

This could’ve been us. He thinks. I don’t even know why she likes this painting so much.

“Swans mate only one time for their whole life.” A girl next to him says, Simon turns his head and looks at her. She’s smiling as she looks at the painting. “I mean…at least that’s what happens the majority of times.”

Simon looks at her with wide eyes. ‘You’re my swan, Simon.’ was the thing you said to him when it was your one year anniversary. At that time he didn’t understand what you meant, but now he does.

“Sir? Are you feeling alright?” the girl asks worriedly.

“I lost my swan.”

On thin ice (Hockey player! Miguel O’Hara x Figure skater! Fem! Reader)

A/N: Im very excited for this series, apologies now for If Miguel is ooc and if the terminology and sports talk is wrong. If you’re experienced in either sport and wanted to lmk if I got something wrong, I’m open ears. This is mostly self indulgent brain rot tho. Enjoy :).

Swearing, yelling, a lot of me trying to explain moves, I’m not good at these lol. Not completely proofread so sorry for typos or grammatical errors. Not a ton of reader and Miguel interact, mostly just set up. Story takes place in a college setting.

Chapter 1: Have you got color in your cheeks?

“Nope, nope try it again.”

“Ughhh…”

“I don’t wanna hear it. Again.”

For the- god you’ve lost count- you go back into starting position for the move right before for the lift, you and your skating partner are currently been worked to the bone by your coach. It felt like by the time you both will develop hypothermia before you get off the ice. Your ice skating partner, Logan, throws his head back in frustration as your coach starts to put the music back to the same spot it’s been starting at for the last half hour. She was having you both do a routine to the swan lake theme (overplayed we know, but did she still find a way to make the coreo beautiful? Of course.) and she was having you do a very “simple” sequence, starting by doing twizzles together before having Logan lift you over his head in a crucifix lift. Simple enough right? wrong. Because your lovely coach is convinced that in over to win first to enter regionals, Logan have to immediately go into a hydroblade around you, while you does a single camel spin in the middle of the rink, as soon as he is done putting you down from the lift. Although you’ve mastered the moves all individually, putting them all together was difficult.

You were too focused on trying to mentally prepare yourself to attempt and fail the sequence again to noticed a group making their way through the double doors that separated the rink to the rest of the building. Taking a deep breath before you and Logan both made your way to just slightly left from the center of the rink, your coach starts the music as you and Logan began to twirl in sync with one another in almost perfect timing. Almost.

“Logan! You’re twirling too fast! You’re ahead of the music and your partner!” Calls out coach Kavinsky.

As you both stop going the tizzlers, you turn your body so you’re now facing Logan as you circle around the end of the rink before turning back around and slowing slightly so you were next to each other, Logan bending down slightly to put one hand on the back of you knee, his other arm wrapping around the front of your waist, your hands quickly traveling to his shoulders.

“(Y/N), you need to shift more of your weight to your left foot for an easier take off!” She yelled out again. Your brows furrowed together as you attempt to shift your weight over a bit more to your left foot as you squeezed Logan’s shoulders slightly. But unfortunately, your partner misinterpreted you shifting your weight and the squeezing as your cue for the lift, causing him to lift you too early before you to properly shift your weight.

“Shit- (N/N)! You good!!” Logan asked concerned as the music stopped, you’re back now flat of the ice as you let out a small grunt of pain from the slip and the fall. “Ugh… yup…yup…” you replied through gritted teeth, ignoring the ache from your back as you slowly move to your hands and knees.

“Damn! How’d you two fuck up that badly?” A voice asked before a laugh, no, multiple laughs fill the room. You shot your head in the direction of the taunt to glare at whoever made the comment as Logan helps you off the floor.

Why weren’t you surprised?

“O’Hara. Shut it.” The couch of the hockey team scolded his star player. Miguel fucking O’Hara. Captain and star player of The Spiders, your university’s hockey team. The man was nothing but 6 feet and 9 inches of pure muscle. You would honestly have found him attractive if he wasn’t such a fucking dick.

“You act like your touch shit, but I bet if you didn’t have 25 pounds of padding on and fell on your back, you wouldn’t think it’s so funny.” Logan hissed, causing Miguel to roll his eyes and scoff in response, adjusting the helmet under his arm with the hand that was also holding his hockey stick. The other hockey players trying to stifle their laughing, so they don’t get chewed out as well.

“It’s not my fault that the ice princess can’t handle a small fall.”

“Miguel.”

“It’s not my fault that you’ve developed some brain damage from being slammed into the boards one too many times.”

“Logan.”

“Well atleast-“ before the rest of the insult can fully come out from Miguel’s lips, the hockey coach, coach Turner, interrupts him. “MIGUEL O’HARA. YOU FINISH THAT SENTENCE AND YOU’LL BE BENCHED FROM THE NEXT GAME.” He roared, causing the cocky smirk to instantly drop from the hockey player’s face, your coach then turned to Logan. “You too. You’re one more remark from no ice time for the next week.” She scolded, causing your partner to huff and grumbled under his breath.

“Alright…I’ll stop, but they needa get off the ice, they’re 15 minutes over their time. They’re messing with our practice schedule.” Miguel said to Turner as he points at you and Logan with his hockey stick, his coach letting out a sigh as he turns to yours. “He’s right, you aren’t the only one trying to get wins. You’ve been digging into our ice time.” Coach turner says, crossing his arms, his clipboard in one hand. Coach Kavinsky let out a heavy sigh, as she rubbed her hand over her pale face. “Alright…let me just have them do it one more time then we’ll get off.”

The hockey team loudly groan at her sentence, causing you to roll your eyes at their dramatics, “hockey players…” you mumbled under your breath to Logan, who just nodded in agreement. Now it was Coach Turner’s turn to let out a heavy sigh. “Fine. You get one- and I mean one more go, then after that we need the rink.” The man grumble as he began to rub his temple.

“But coach-“ one of the hockey players that you didn’t know the name of (so all but Miguel) was starting to object but cut himself off when Turner turned to glare daggers in his direction, causing him to just clear his throat instead. Coach Kavinsky just turn to you and Logan, wasting no time to tell you to go back into the same spot from were you’ve been stuck on.

“It feels like we’re stuck in a time loop.” You joked with a small grin as you both skate back to being slightly to the left of the middle of the rink. Logan letting out a snort as he followed you. “We better not fuck this up again, we’ve got an audience.” Logan said as he nodded to we’re the hockey team was impatiently waiting. You just shrugged, waiting for the music to start again, “We got this.” You sent him a confident smile before continuing.

“You promise not to drop me again?” You asked with a playful smile, obviously joking as you start positioning your feet to start the twizzlers again, Logan following your movements closely after.

“Only a fool would drop a girl like you.” He teased before the music started, both of you beginning to spin shortly after. You know he was only joking, you both knew there weren’t anything between you too that was more then a platonic friendship/skating partnership.

You don’t know if the impact from the fall was messing with your vision, but you swore that you saw Miguel’s hand twitch into a fist for a spit second after Logan’s reply.

“Good! Better Logan!” Your coach praised as Logan’s twizzlers were more in sync with yours this time. Once you were done spinning, you followed the same steps to prepare for the lift, this time your footing was actually correct and you were ready for when Logan spins you over his shoulder, you letting go of said shoulders once your stomach was securely on his shoulder, as the song crescendos. Bringing your arms up and straightening them out to your side, your upper body in the shape of a cross (hence the name of the move being crucifix lift) and you couldn’t help but smirk when you say some of the hockey players, especially Miguel’s, impressed reactions. It doesn’t help that you know that most of them would never admit that they were impressed.

As Logan spun around the rink once with you in the air, before flipping you back down onto the ice the same way he flipped you up. “Shit this is the part we always fuck up.” You thought as your blades touch the ice again once Logan reaches the middle of the rink, his hands leaving your body as soon as you were stable on the ground again. Before quickly gliding a bit more towards the outer edge of the rink, you took in a steady breath as your eyebrows scrunched together subconsciously in concentration. Miguel couldn’t help but notice and thought it was adorable, before quickly shaking the thought away.

Part of the reason you both always got this part wrong was, because one would either start too early or too late, making the speeds of both moves looked rush and sloppy rather then sharp and contrasted. As Logan start to lower himself into the hydroblade, you began to do the camel spin.

“Beautiful!” Coach Kavinsky praised as she stop the music. And you almost wanted to fall to your knees and cry from relief, and you probably would have if the hockey team and their coach wasn’t 20 feet away, watching your every move. So instead you skated up to Logan and engulfed him in a hug, your partner instantly returning it. What you couldn’t see because your face was being buried into Logan’s chest was Miguel’s face turn to a scowl for a split second, his hand twitching into a first again, before both going back to their neutral state in the blink of an eye.

“We still need to clean it up, don’t get too excited.” She added as you and Logan pulled apart and began to exit the rink, a huge smile on both your faces. As soon as you were off the ice, the hockey team quickly rushed to get on and set up their nets on both ends of the rink. You didn’t pay them any mind though as you put your guards on your skates, and were starting to make your way to the girl’s locker room before you felt a hand gently grab your wrist to stop you. At first you were expecting it to be Logan’s, but theses hands were much larger than his.

“That was actually quite impressive, ice princess.” You didn’t need to turn around to know who’s talking, but when you felt the hand release you, you couldn’t help but turn around anyways. Seeing Miguel walk away from you to head to the rink, and you didn’t need to see his face to know that he probably had a cocky smirk spread on his lips. You didn’t need to admit that the shiver you felt run down your back came from his hush, low tone as he spoke and not the coldness from ac blasting to keep the ice solid.

“Did…did he just compliment you?” Logan whispered as he came closer and raised his brow at you. If you knew one thing about the hockey player, is that he never, ever said one positive about or to you (or Logan for that matter) since you’ve known him.

“I- yeah he did…”

“That’s…interesting…”

“Very.”

We see more of Ace doing her job (and she is very much morally gray), see Captain again, and start down the slow path of curiosity towards yearning. I did mention this is a slow burn, didn't I?

Warning: Swearing, mentioned violence, events of MW2019, tension. Morally gray characters.

You were in Greenland when you got the call.

“What intel do you have on Al-Qatala?” Laswell sounded cool, in control. As always.

“None,” was your immediate response. “I may have contacts in low places, but I’m not suicidal.”

“You always know something,” Laswell said, faintly impatient. “What about their connection to the Russians?”

“Bad news,” you grumbled. “That’s my intel. They’re all bad news and they don’t care if they blow up the world. Pretty sure some of them live in hope of that day.”

“I need anything you’ve got.”

“This is not my department.” You glanced around, ensuring your privacy. “This is, in fact, so far outside my department that it should be your people’s job. I don’t get in bed with that kind of asshole, Kate.”

“I need whatever you can find on them,” she said, temper audibly fraying. “Anything and everything. As soon as you can get it to me.”

You sighed, pinching the bridge of your nose. “I won’t get the kind of intel you want,” you growled. “I don’t have those kinds of contacts.”

“Then get me whatever intel you can,” she snapped back.

“Kate,” you finally snapped, curling your fingers into a fist. “Why the fuck are you asking this of me?”

She was silent. Five seconds passed. Ten. You almost thought she wasn’t going to answer, but– “I can’t tell you everything, but… Keep an eye on the news. When it happens, you’ll know.” She hung up.

You thought, briefly, about calling her back just to yell at her. Or remind her that you were an independent intelligence agent, not one of her lackeys.

But you shoved the urge back down and breathed deep. A few times.

Then you started working, using your phone to type out a few emails. This was going to burn more than one bridge, you could already tell.

Laswell was going to owe you for this one.

There were a lot of things you could get information on with varying degrees of ease. It was all about knowing who to ask. And you had built up quite the network of connections over the years, all over the world. It was how you kept in business, how you were able to swan around the world as you pleased.

Most of these contacts were straightforward. Money for intel. You’d weeded out the ones who were unreliable or lied to you. This was also the one time you bent your own rules about names. Because you took care of your trusted contacts, in your own way. Unreliable people got blacklisted.

And if sometimes that ended in bloodshed, well, that wasn’t your problem.

But even with your resources and your contacts, asking questions about Al-Qatala was dangerous. It took time. You had to be very careful who you asked and how you asked. You absolutely did not want your name floating around, or any of your aliases, not for this.

When you finally had a chance to sit down and turn on the news, you understood why Laswell had called you.

They’d bombed civilians. In London.

You breathed deeply for a few minutes, watching the shaky news footage and the interviews. Then you changed channels to another news station, watching their footage.

You’d seen a lot of shit in the world. Much of it you were hardened to, jaded after all this time.

But this… Well. This hurt. This wove into your chest, tracing the singular path to the soft of your heart.

I’ll have everything I can manage for you in 36 hours. Send me a drop off location. The text was perhaps brusque but Laswell wouldn’t mind. She might not be happy about the timeframe, since these things tended to be pretty time sensitive, but if she was asking you for information… She knew what she was getting into.

And then you flipped through your little black book, just in case there was anyone you hadn’t thought of to reach out to. If nothing else, it kept you busy for a little while.

You didn’t leave your hotel room at all for the next 24 hours, busy compiling all the information you were getting back. You stopped long enough to book a flight to London, using a smaller company.

With two hours to go until the drop point, you pulled out your laptop again and finished compiling all the information, including the last bits that had come in while you were on the flight.

Thirty minutes to go, cutting it close. You were ready to move, waiting on a final location, USB tucked safely in your pocket and your hands stuffed in your pockets as well to hide your fidgeting. This had left you keyed up, extra paranoid.

Finally, though, Laswell texted you. Pub called Lion’s Head. You’ll recognize him.

It took moments to find out where the Lion’s Head was, and you strode off with purpose.

The pub was not busy this time of day (and you had to glance at your phone to see what time it actually was), so it was not hard to spot him sitting at a shadowed table. He looked just the same as last time.

His gaze met yours across the room, holding you in place for two beats, not even breathing. His eyes couldn’t hide the rage, although you doubted it was aimed at you. Given the info you’d been accumulating, you were fairly certain you knew exactly who it was aimed at.

You squeezed your hands into fists and strode over the table, shoulders set. No teasing this time. Not with this.

“Captain.” You dipped your head in a small nod of respect to him, holding out the USB. He took it, much larger fingers brushing against yours, a tiny spot of warmth in the shadowy room.

“No weather comments this time?” But his voice was muted, fingers quick to tuck the USB away.

Your jaw clenched. “Not this time. Won’t even quote movies at you.” You shrugged, leaning back. “Password is imperial, all lower case.”

He nodded acknowledgement and stood. It was his turn to leave a cash tip on the table. But you didn’t move out of his way just yet, holding his gaze.

“I hope that helps you.” You kept your voice quiet, more sincere than you usually allowed yourself.

He blinked, surprised, before he nodded more slowly. “You planning to stay in town?” he asked, holding your gaze.

You shrugged. “Hadn’t decided yet,” you admitted. And that was enough honesty. You mustered a bit of your usual flirtation, smiling. “Why, want to see me again so soon?”

He snorted softly. “Might want to be elsewhere for the next few days,” was all he said, low and dry, before he stepped around you. He left you standing there, walking out of the pub and vanishing.

With a wry smile at the swapped roles, you left after him. Normally you were the one leaving people behind. It was an interesting feeling to be the one being left.

In all honesty, you were curious about Captain. More than you should be. He couldn’t be intimidated or flirted with, refused to be cowed, and had openly challenged you. He also had no designs on you, acting solely as a go-between.

And that was rare. Very rare.

But you had your rules to consider, too. No names, for starters. He only knew the codename Laswell had given you, and you didn’t know his name. It was, honestly, safer that way.

But still.

Shaking yourself, you pulled out your phone with a little huff. He’d recommended getting out of London, so you would. You didn’t feel like disregarding that kind of advice.

Maybe it was time to go back to the US for a while. You generally avoided it, but you knew of several delightful hotels on the California coast.

It didn’t take long to get the flight booked, and then you had to go back to the airport. You didn’t have much with you this time, since you’d left Greenland in a hurry, but that was fine. You had a stash in California that you could raid.

And, really, you could do some work in the US. Visit some old contacts. Maybe see about finding a few new ones.

Maybe drop in on Laswell and have a very polite conversation.

You had just boarded the plane when your phone vibrated with a text. You settled in your seat and then pulled it out, humming under your breath.

Thank you for your help. Standard payment?

You hummed, leaning back in your seat. You could accept payment for this as usual… Or you could keep this in your pocket.

Keep it. You’ll owe me one. Your lips curled in a satisfied smile as you turned your phone off in preparation for the flight.

California this time of year was sunny. (Well, many parts of California were sunny all year long, actually.) You booked a hotel on the coast and spent three days lounging on the beach and keeping a very close eye on the news. Some of it didn’t surprise you. Some of it did.

Some things you learned from your contacts, because the news outlets didn’t go near some of those messes. You heard through the grapevine about the usurping in Urzikstan, a near-massacre of the Russian forces there.

Honestly, you kind of expected a call from Sergio about that one.

Not that he was military, but he had fingers in a few pies.

But you never heard from him.

The attack on the embassy ended up on every news channel, not that you were much surprised. It was pretty much a clusterfuck, and one you were happy to stay out of.

Big events like this tended to draw a lot of attention, and you figured there were two ways this could shake out: either you’d get a lot of requests trying to take advantage of the chaos, or you’d have radio silence. Either way was alright with you, honestly, just so long as nobody wanted anything to do with Al-Qatala or the Russians.

This one turned out to be quiet, wary of the chaos and the threat of chemical weapons. Not that you could blame them.

You’d seen what gas attacks could do.

One more week on the quiet coast left you feeling refreshed and ready to go again. You checked in with all of your people - two had fallen off. You weren’t sure if that meant they were dead or hiding. Either way, you’d go poking later.

You had other things to do, for now.

Downtime like this was good for checking finances, so you did. Downtime like this was also good at bringing up things you’d rather not think about, so you threw yourself in the ocean, and promptly regretted all your choices. (The Pacific ocean was too fucking cold for swimming, anyone who willingly ventured in there was a masochist as far as you were concerned.)

And then it was back to work, this time with new intel coming in from an arms dealer you knew. So you booked a flight.

Almost idly, you wondered how much Captain had been involved in all that trouble. If you did enough digging, you could probably find out. Find a name. A picture.

But you wouldn’t. Because that was against your rules.

Shadow of a Sheild*- Marvel omegaverse fanfic is currently centered around mostly my OCs Jamie (Steve Rogers' and Peggy Carter's daughter) and her love interest, Anna; though I'll have more scenes and/or separate simultaneous stories with other OCs (like Jamie's half+step siblings, Will and Becca) as well as other Marvel characters

Summary (current, to be edited):

Jamie Makayla Rogers (formerly Carter) is a girl displaced out of time. Much like her father, she was frozen in ice, but like his mate, she was forced into it. Now in the modern world, Jamie is struggling to communicate with the soldier who left her mother. Captain Steve Rogers. After all, until recently, he didn't even know she existed.

Steve Rogers suddenly has a pup, already almost grown. Avenging the world seems a simpler task than attempting to raise a teenager.

Main characters are all some combination of LGBT+ and/or neurodivergent (and I mean neurodivergent, not just the "nice disorders").

Warnings for these: SA is pretty prevalent in my stories, for personal reasons. Homophobic and transphobic characters (side characters are, not main ones, though some internalized for the main, but they get through it) as well as ableism. I've mostly stuck to what I personally know, so a lot of the main characters are white and not PoC, though I'm working on it, I just don't want to overstep or inadvertently be insensitive.

One thing I avoid is death, like killing off characters, especially the main ones. Big fan of "everybody lives."
