Aira Character Talk

Since Aira was mentioned again in Saltyplaytoons (spongebob reference? Lol, funny either way) blog post I wanted to take a deep dive and talk about her. Plus at this point she’s the only pure character that deserves to be rescued from this shit comic and not written by a misogynist. She get’s shit on for no fucking reason.

It is very well known now that kique has stated that she is his “least” favorite character. Why? Probably because she’s another female character he made and got bored of her. Honestly it saves her the injustice he would have given her if she had more screen time. When we first met Aira, she was stuck in her creature form. I thought at first she was an evolved creature that was based on Aedra and her beast form was pretty cool in my opinion it looked like a mix between a cat and a dog. Which btw people was made and turned into by a Spirit, so that quickly leads my thoughts into rhov’s and feaf’s future kids. If a spirit can turn a dog into an evolved creature, then it’s very much possible because of the spirits for them to have hybrid kids. Will it be canon? I don’t know, like many have said; it’s obvious kique is bored of his own comic and shoved into our faces just to keep pages being pumped out with nothing really interesting. For me, I see the comic as a sitcom show that just goes nowhere and the characters do and say random stuff that doesn’t revolve around their world or plot. Besides, you can’t tell me half of the characters in this world wanna sit cooped up in one area based on “Tribes” Dog’s just don’t do that they would have way too much pent up energy and would need to run. Can you just imagine if this comic was realistic, the dog's muscles and bone structure would become weaker because they aren’t doing anything really, they just sit in one place and that's it. Ok sorry, back to Aira :)

You see what I mean though? She resembles a sorta dog and cat hybrid mix. The paws are a dead giveaway as they look like a feline and she has retractable claws. It’s a neat design in itself. I'll give kique that much of any positivity for his comic XD.

Very Interesting design features if you ask me. Anyways, Aira gets killed by kargo and she wakes up a normal dog again and sets off into the woods to heal her wounds I guess? Probably also went to seek shelter maybe. We later on see her again on page 138. Heavily bleeding still and this when she meets keirr and you know how it goes. He ends up helping her and she’s taken aback from being surprised I guess, which is quite valid of her character, as we do eventually learn about her backstory and she was never treated kindly by others. Aira is a character who’s a really good example of someone who would have a “fixation” on someone, I don’t think it would personally be a bad thing and realistic to her character because she’s never been treated so kindly before and i don’t think she’d be able to help herself with that mindset. She obviously took comfort in keirr as she hesitated to follow him at first, but also because he was offering to help her and wasn’t appearing a threat to her.

Moving forward. Keirr takes her back to her cave and was suspicious why she was living in such a large area for one individual. Aira remains mute and just eats the food she was given. Which I suppose was rude on her part, but her communication skills seemed to be lacking as she was trapped inside a body and couldn’t talk for a long time, ok at least that makes sense because there is a valid reason enough for her to be doing that. Eventually keirr leaves her behind as she is now safely placed back into her sheltered area. But she ends up following him and keirr ends up venting to her about why he couldn’t go back to his family, he was understandably grieving over zilas. I find these next few parts important to Aira’s character. She willingly sits there even if not knowing him for not a very long time. But she sits there and listens to him vent and doesn’t question him, that’s just an empathetic thing and it's wholesome to have seen that in the comic as they being the characters actually talked about things that troubled them, and it didn’t lead to sex confrontation. She may not have known him very long, but she’s a character that gives off a warm and comforting vibe, like a friend you can tell anything too without her judging because she obviously cares about others.

Later keirr ends up following her and getting to know her more. Then we see a page with them together and keirr is giving her physical therapy?

(hey keirr how do you know about PT?). They end up jumping over some logs to strengthen her legs or whatever. Kinda pointless in a way if she was born with a weak structure. It’s like saying you can just magically cure a dog with mobility issues with just some PT. Wellll nope, it’s much harder and time consuming. Plus it won't fully heal someone with a physical disability, it may help strengthen her a bit, but she wouldn’t be able to fully walk normally. Compare it to a dog who was born with swimmers syndrome or cerebellar hypoplasia. That’s a lot of PT work and also medication in order for them to walk to a degree. It’s not something that can fully be cured, so Aira’s 180 later on would be really stupid when the author wrote her this way.

Now the next page (198) is important, keirr states he has to go back home cause he’s been gone for too long. Aira very clearly goes into panic mode and begs keirr to stay with her because she clearly states she doesn't wanna be “Alone” She’s told to basically just shut up and he’ll return soon whenever. Again Aira panics and kisses keirr forcefully.

Now I find that quite sad and interesting for her. I’m not a therapist or a physician by any means. But this is my own take on this situation. Aira is using a tactic that almost feels like she is forcing her own affection onto keirr, not being in control of her own body due to her panicking. In a way, yes Aira did sexually assault keirr and he had every right to confront her about it because it was wrong of her. He leaves her behind anyway to go back to his family. Aira is then left with what looks like the expression of shock and most likely guilt because she’s being left behind again and most likely processing stuff in her head. I'd like to believe that her mind is very scattered due to her having issues of being left behind.

We then proceed to see Aira again and most likely took keirr’s words to heart and goes back to the spirit of strength because she feels weak without and can’t survive. She practically feels hopeless without that spirit, keirr stops her and then asks was it because of him? Keep that in mind. Aira is obviously upset in this scene and then tells keirr her back story and the things she did. She basically claims that she went back to the spirit because of Keirr, she was upset. It’s like if someone told you as a person, that you weren’t good enough for them, nor did they want you around them because to them you felt like a burden. I wouldn’t be surprised if Aira was the first dog in the comic to commit suicide because she deems herself as a burden and was never accepted. If the spirits didn’t exist and the comic took more of a dark turn, I think she would have been a character to have that type of mindset.

Eventually keirr takes Aira under his wing with a better understanding of her to a degree. She proceeds to then help him look for his family as she’s apparently traveled all over the map while being a beast at the time and saw many tribes fall and create new ones. We meet the deer rp tribe and then kique puts them there because he doesn’t know what to do with them at that moment. Aira is then very clearly seen to be hesitant and doesn’t wanna join them because they were just going to ask if they saw family members of keirr’s. But then the 180 happens and they join anyway. Keirr becomes a dick and then judges fucking Aira behind her back because of the jarl confronting her leg structure. Yeah hey morons, maybe she's struggling because she got a giant ass heavy deer rack strapped to her head and has weak legs, antlers are not light things. Of fucking curse she’d be struggling.

Honestly that’s when I started hating keirr the most, like why the fuck are you jugding her? She literally told you she was born with a mobility disability and was tossed aside for it. *sighs* She ends up stuck with Keirr as a Herbalist, like kique? The fuck man, how stupid can you be. You made a character with a physical disability who struggles with that and you give her a rank that requires to walk a lot? Like what? She’d be a terrible herbalist because she’d probably take much longer to even get to a location and back to the tribe. She has to carry her weight around. How frustrating, it’s like he literally forgets his own character traits they have. Like if you didn’t wanna deal with a character with a disability then why give her one if you're gonna 180 it.

Page 481. The page that did it all for me and hated this dude's guts. Ok so even if Aira did end up stuck in a tribe she didn’t wanna be, plus she looks absolutely miserable in the panel. She literally got excited when he returned with bootleg kargo after their little flirting session or whatever that was.

Like damn keirr, you should be fucking honored that someone likes you for you and your company, plus she was even worried about you. He could have easily just told her he was being sent to scout, like keirr did you not forget that you joined the tribe when you didn’t have too? Like at all. Aira stated to you that she didn’t wanna be there and wanted to go back to looking for your family. But whatever, he gives her the cold shoulder and tells her to suck it up and build connections with a tribe of strangers. God I really want to just rewrite this page at times. Keirr should have welcomed her with open arms (or paws) and told her about his travels and that he didn’t find what he was looking for unfortunately. Like why did you diss the only character who showed remorse and care for you. She obviously likes having you around and because you took her under your wing, you have no right to be a moody dick to her. This is when I see abandonment issues come into play. As someone who has abandonment issues myself, Aira is so frikin relatable. It hurts a lot when you think about it and you're stuck in your head wondering what you did or if you're doing something wrong to have someone push you away like that. It’s the worst feeling ever and poor Aira here basically got rejected from someone she clearly cares about.

(She looks so lost and heartbroken in this page) But like keirr, dude how the fuck did you forget that she told you earlier on before you joined the stupid tribe. That she literally went back to the spirit because of YOU. That’s basically her struggle, Rejection and being alone. I’m disappointed that some of the people were siding with keirr on this page. In reality if a friend asked about your mental health and you told them to fuck off in, just because your moody. Then be damned if they leave your ass. That's such a shitty thing to do to a person. Aira is no exception and didn’t deserve any of that. And sadly it only gets worse for her as even when he did do that, she still looked out for him and had to save his ass from a ghoul.

I’d also like to point something out. But in a certain page, Aira claims she lived with the meteor tribe. I’m unsure if she was referring to a beast or when she was a normal dog before cursing herself?

If that’s true then could Aira quite possibly be a victim to rape as well? I didn’t think much of it at first because the wording confused me for a while. But going back it made me think. If she was used by MT before arenak rules then she’s very much understanding when it comes to her trauma and issues she has. In conclusion Aira seems like a complex character with her own trauma and if it was written better, it would have been interesting to see her overcome her said trauma. She’s a literal victim, a lot more than what kique claims rogio and his “mental chains” bullshit. Aira didn’t have a choice in her life,she didn’t ask to be born the way she was or have to deal with not feeling wanted by others. I feel if kique actually knew how people worked when it came to trauma and one’s mental health and emotions. Aira and keirr could have been a great duo for each other and helped support each other as friends and grew a good connection based on needing each other in a certain time because they were struggling. Sexual intercourse during trauma isn’t something that’ll help someone. It's only a distraction really at the moment. But again it shouldn't be a way out when you're in your feelings and all that. It’s quite unhealthy. I’ll say it again, Aira deserves better and needs out of this terrible comic.

I'm a twitter larrie, although not a twarrie, even though I'm a recent member of the fandom (around 1.5 years in).

But I agree, twitter timeline is getting really toxic around these days, especially if people don't follow the right people, or they check the "for you" part. I do think it's very important to mute or block people who we think constantly provide into the chaos on twitter, otherwise it's really easy to get surrounded with toxic people or crazy theories, even if those people are larries.

To be honest lately I almost spend no time on the timeline, I'm a member of some really nice groupchats, and I even met some people from there personally on shows. I'm not saying we agree on everything, but the major points (Larry, L not a dad) are not questioned there.

Unfortunately new larries (regardless if they're on twitter, tiktok or even here) don't do any research, they just love the theory of Larry (I think they're more Larry shippers than real larries), and eat up everything they're presented to. And one of the most complex thing to understand is bbg, and it seems they're not willing to dive into it.

And tbh I could understand why. If there's a twitter larrie with a really good and detailed thread of bbg, but their next thread is about L watching the sunset in an adidas hoodie means the day before yesterday he was together with H, which is an utter nonsense, people tend to think the bbg thread was nonsense too. And unfortunately it happens a lot.

I spend most of my larrie time on twitter, because that's where I have my lovely groupchats, and I also post some stuff regularly, but if I need to factcheck anything, I always come to tumblr.

Hi nonnie, thank you for chiming in. I hate to add to the fandom division, so your perspective is so very welcome and shows there are like-minded people on every app who don’t want to participate in berating and fighting each other.

You made some very good points there about Larries being shippers for the cute idea of it but also feeling too uncomfortable reading up on babygate.

To be fair, I would very much love for us all to settle the battles about this kid and NEVER speak about him again. Let’s agree to disagree and move forward NOT ever discussing Louis’ questionable fatherhood, Briana’s questionable pregnancy, Freddie’s questionable name and upbringing ever again.

But I don’t think that will people stop from trying to make a child a celebrity, stalking his whereabouts, making fan accounts for a little boy (and have Stanley Tucci follow them). Because those who are so rEspECtFuL accepting Freddie as Louis’ son are out there memefying a minor and use him to quench their thirst for super dad Louis content. And honestly that’s just a problematic.

The Defense of Steven Universe’s (OG Show) Ending

(This is basically a post where I put everything I said in a large Twitter thread so it’s more easily readable, with maybe a few changes and additions.

Spoilers BTW)

So I’ve been drawing a lot of stuff lately and in doing so, I’ve been rewatching a lot of old shows I used to watch and finishing whatever I missed out on. Steven Universe was an interesting one, as I recall having some form of obsession with it as a kid on Google+, however I barely remembered watching a lot of it or if I even watched it on TV or on websites like Kisscartoon. And after doing so,

I barely see the hate for it that it’s gotten for years.

It has its flaws, and issues that have plagued the show outside of what’s within it, but it’s no doubt memorable with a great cast of characters and very unique and fascinating lore and story telling. Now, I don’t wanna really get into a whole deep dive review on the whole show, as even though I’ve made a couple of essays lately (mainly on Sonic the Hedgehog), I don’t think I’m that experienced to go over an entire 5 seasons explaining each and every episode’s strengths and weaknesses and allat (though maybe I might discuss the amazing character development of each crystal gem in the future, who knows?), rather I want to discuss something that is partially why I started watching this show again: The Ending - Change Your Mind (S5E29).

Now, the ending is understandably mixed, I understand the critiques of it being weird and anticlimactic and all and how it doesn’t feel like the diamonds’ actions on gem history was fully acknowledged and been punished for it. I completely get the criticism here and I don’t want to drive away people from making actual critiques on the show and where it could’ve improved upon.

What I mainly want to focus on is the notion that the ending can be summed up to, “Steven forgave Gem Hitler”

That is very incorrect.

See, the whole reason why White Diamond (the “Gem Hitler”) was involved with the story was because after Steven was able to prove to Blue and Yellow Diamond that he’s Pink Diamond, he takes the opportunity to use their stronger powers to restore one of the corrupted gems (Centipede). This works…for a moment, as they’re only restored once all 3 put their healing powers to use, but upon letting go of the gem, they reform back into their corrupted version. With Steven technically being part of the Diamond Authroity, he thinks maybe he can take advantage of his position to be able to speak to White Diamond, the highest gem in the patriarchy, and convince her to come to Earth to help the corrupted gems.

Throughout these last episodes, it’s clear this is all for a demand to help gems that were stuck on Earth. While Steven wanted to just try and talk to White, and convinced Blue and Yellow to express how they feel about how White has handled their civilization, there’s never a point where he’s all like “look inside your heart, please you have so much good in you I can feel it” or whatever. Considering how he had to fuse with the Crystal Gems and team up with others who showed up to be able to fight her mech and barely reach to the top of it to meet her, this whole plan wasn’t really as pacifist as many have made it out to be.

Sorry to stray off a little but, funny thing is, as much as people make fun of Steven Universe for being a show where characters just talk their feelings out and suddenly everything is good, they acknowledge in one of the episodes that not every gem has this deep trauma or pain they try to hold in.

In the episode, “Stuck Together” he and Lars get caught by Aquamarine and Topaz, they both open up to each other about how no matter what happens, they got each other. This leads Topaz who throughout her introduction has been mute and serious and who has them held hostage, to start crying and vent about how much emotional pain she’s been holding in so much because it’s her job. When Aquamarine finds out she’s trying to help them escape, they desperately start trying to convince her that she’s allowed to open up about whatever she feels, that they’re here to listen and talk.

This is was her reaction.

And I have yet to watch Future right now, but from what I’m reading, even after a lot has changed since the original show and tons of gems live peacefully with Beach City, she shows up again to get her revenge.

At no point is she ever redeemed in any way.

Anyways, the only reason why Steven was able to convince White to do something to corrupted gems on Earth was because he bested her and she couldn’t do anything about it.

Her whole ordeal was how she wants to have this flawless world where nothing goes out of line, even if it means having to mind control them so they act just like her. She views herself as being the perfect gem of all time who knows what’s best for everyone. However, due to how she’s acted with Steven, being an adult gem constantly picking on a literal child because she refuses to accept he’s not Pink Diamond or is part human; how it’s all just a disguise and Pink Diamond is just lying to herself, she’s embarrassed and realizes she indeed does have a flaw. She’s shaken up with guilt over how petty and childish she’s been acting, being exactly what she’s been criticizing Pink Diamond, to the point where she questions who she is. If she’s not this flawless perfect gem who knows what’s best, then what is she? What should she be since throughout her whole life she’s been obsessed with perfection? She can’t be leader of a whole gem civilization trying to make everyone flawless if she herself is flawed. What further solidified it was how she was unable to control Pink Steven no matter how much she tried, and once she started blushing and feeling embarrassed, she lost control on the other gems she had brainwashed. Blue and Yellow even react in disgust/fear seeing her become “off-color” due to her blush, basically for a moment them losing respect for her.

Steven goes up to her and tries to tell her to just, let people be who they are, without trying to “fix” them, and maybe she can be whoever she wants to be. White is still in distraught, wanting to be someone who knows better, be better, and wanting to make everything better, which Steven offers her a way to do so (which is coming to Earth to help the corrupted gems), but first needing to leave your own head - literally and figuratively.

At no point throughout the ending is White crying about trauma or begging for forgiveness to Steven and having him go “it’s ok we all make mistakes 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰”, all that happens is Steven sees her essentially having an identity crisis now that she cracked and realized she isn’t as perfect as she thought she was, and being the good natured kid he is, offers to show her how she can be a better person, taking the opportunity to make her do what he set out to demand from her. To say they should’ve shattered her would’ve defeated the whole point as to why Steven even went back to Homeworld to begin with, cuz he needed White’s help. Plus, still haven’t watched Future but,

There is a scene where Steven actually attempts to SHATTER White Diamond upon taking control of her body for everything she has done to him, he CLEARLY doesn’t find her to be in the clear of everything she’s done.

TL;DR They can’t just shatter her cuz she’s the big bad villain, the whole point of the final episodes was Steven needing her in order to restore all the corrupted gems they’ve saved throughout the show. No matter what it took, he was going to find a way to do it. While I do agree that there could’ve been better acknowledgment on everything that she’s done to Homeworld and all, same goes for Blue and Yellow, as they’re immediately relegated to out of touch aunts, to make the massive stretch that this is supposed to be Steven forgiving Hitler or proof that Rebecca Sugar (a Jewish person) is a Nazi apologist…come on bro.

EDIT: I really recommend btw watching this video I recently just viewed discussing the show’s ending and really diving in about the topic of Steven’s identity and White’s identity. It’s informative summarizing a lot of what’s been hinted at and led up to the final episode and goes over stuff I could never even attempt to bring to light with how amateurish I am at this sorta junk 💀

And even if with everything being said, you still believe in the notion that “Steven forgave Gen Hitler” or whatever, I’m about to bring up an argument so earth shattering that it will make you re-evaluate everything you know about the show. So, here it goes:

Listen, I know it’s very cliche to use the, “it’s a kids show it’s not that deep!!” argument or whatever idiots say to avoid people from discussing further about their favorite things, especially in an era where many are pushing the “Animation is Cinema” phrase and proving its not just kiddie shit only babies like, but what I mean is

At what point is it crossing the line when making comparisons from a thing in fiction to something in real life?

What makes a great story is how it’s able to draw connections to realistic issues or problems many face with unique metaphors and analogies and all of that, Steven Universe is no different. However, at what point are the metaphors or references to real life supposed to stop? At what point does it become stretching really hard? I can understand how people have had ideas that “fusion is a metaphor for sex” or whatever to some degree.

But going as far as to compare this obviously over the top dictator to the world’s worst man to have ever lived on planet earth who is responsible for the death of millions just because he so happens to also be a dictator, doesn’t that seem so…psychotic to even try to relate when it’s obvious that was never the intention? I mean look at this whole world of the show, it’s a futuristic jewelry space civilization filled with advanced technology and bright colors, how do you look at all of this and first thing that comes to mind is Nazi Germany? How do you look at a giant voluptuous white woman who’s existed for millenniums and think “yea that’s Hitler right there”, all because she’s simply a textbook definition of a dictator?

Trying to make her whole country this flawless world where no one goes out of line and disallows any form of diversity? Like any typical villain? Is that really all it takes to be considered as “animated Hitler”?

Does that mean the abandoned flawed gems in the abandoned Kindergarten that Steven and Lars met at the very bottom of Homeworld are supposed to be a reference to Anne Frank’s family hiding from nazis? One would say that’s a massive stretch to make and they’d be right, cuz it is…just like what people say about White Diamond.

These kinds of massive stretches and comparisons have been made in the past constantly, and for what? To gang up on a show that just wanted to teach kids the values of showing love and positivity, being there for your friends and families and trying to accept people’s flaws or differences in how they live? To make excuses to be blatantly anti-semetic towards the Jewish person who created this show? All because over shit like the fanbase was infamous at one point for how they treated each other and the show producers or because the ending wasn’t how many wanted it to be or how it debatably pushes the idea of positivity way too much in places where it shouldn’t try to?

At what point do people who criticize this show for it’s apparent farfetched ideologies of being kind to everyone, start sounding farfetched themselves for making these insane leaps in logic to make a blatantly slanderous argument and label on the show? If something like “White Diamond is supposed to be Gem Hitler” is something many easily gave into believing, what kind of fucked up comparisons would people make next about the entirety of Homeworld or gems as a species till these start to sound like psychotic conspiracy theories?

Steven Universe is no doubt a flawed show, I won’t deny that, will never deny that. As much as I defend the ending and go against how people have slandered the show, I can admit stuff could’ve been done better. However, like I’ve said at the beginning, I fail to see how all the hate the show’s gotten for years has ever been deserved or warrented. It’s clear that even with its flaws in storytelling, pacing, (sometimes animation), there is still so much to love about this show. It’s characters, it’s music, it’s themes, it’s lore, etc. There’s good reason as to why people love and still fondly remember it and consider it to be just as important as the other shows that brought in this renaissance era for Cartoon Network (Gumball, Regular Show, and Adventure Time).

After all, just like what the ending taught people, things aren’t always going to be perfect, and that’s ok. Flaws make things what they are, and unless said flaws actively have negative effects on things, there’s no reason to fight against them so excruciatingly. We may strive hard for perfection and flawlessness, to be considered perfect or for a thing we like to be considered perfect, but at some point, trying to do so much just to achieve said perfection will down the road start to become an issue and affect ourselves and the ones around us, the ones we love.

When you think about it, a lot of what has happened within the fanbase and the critics of the show mimic similar attitude to White Diamond. This want for perfection, for nothing to be going out of line, but all it’s done is damage the show’s reputation to many.

Fans on here long ago harassing an artist for the way they drew one of the characters of the show as she wasn’t in this “perfect” body shape they wanted her in. Or harassing producers of the show for how they’d handle things like (iirc) Lapis and Peridot’s “relationship” because it didn’t match their “perfect” connection between the two, and more.

On the other side, critics like the infamous Lily Orchard blasting the show for not being this “perfectly” told story and going out of her way to make these insane comparisons to have some leverage in this giant attack on the show and what it stands for.

These wild and out of pocket attempts to make everything perfect for the show, and what has it done? It heavily soured how people view the show, making people want to stay away from getting into it as from the POV of the outside looking in, it’s a whole rabbit hole they probably shouldn’t get into…for their sake of their mental health. This mindset to be caught up in selfish outlandish views of what’s deemed as being perfect has only made things worse for everyone on every side of discussion on this show. And while as of lately things seem to be recovering, as more people are giving the show a second chance and realizing how messed up people like Lily Orchard were, still the effects of what happened back in the mid-late 2010s are noticeable in some areas.

If it gets to a point where we’re fighting a flaw that barely affects anyone, is it really a flaw that is that important or even a flaw at all to begin with? We can strive to be better people and learn from mistakes, but a perfect person who can do no wrong is just impossible.

Flaws are what help make everything feel unique in it’s own right. That’s not to say some flaws can’t be acknowledged and called out, but as for flaws that sum up to “someone/something is different from what I expected”, it seems over the top to go so hard to fight against it, as we’d be fighting against having diversity among each and every one of us.

If every pork-chop were perfect, we wouldn’t have hot dogs.

Mini VITD Sims Lookbook (Largely Alice Focused Edition)

Hi all -- I ended up downloading and playing with some more Victorian and Victorian-esque CC for Sims 4 last Saturday, looking for some new looks for my Valicer In The Dark versions of Victor, Alice, and Smiler (mainly Alice, as per the title). And, as I'm still getting the next Chill Valicer Save update ready, I figured I'd share the results, in case any of you were interested/wanted some more CC to download! Here we go:

First up, we actually have something that I downloaded from someone’s lookbook post for their Alice Sim a little while ago (I'm afraid I don't remember whose at this point ^^;) – a conversion of Alice’s London dress from Alice: Madness Returns! As in, one Mimoto-Sims ripped this dress straight from the files of that game (along with a bunch of others) and turned it into an outfit in Sims 4! :D I’ve been looking for this for a while, and I’m quite pleased with it, though it is a little weirdly shiny – and if you think Alice suddenly looks a LOT thinner than usual in this dress, she is. Apparently I didn’t make my Sim Alice underweight enough! I think I prefer my Sims 4 version having a waist that doesn’t look like it could snap in half at any moment, though. XD

Okay, onto the CC I actually downloaded on Saturday, with Alice modeling the Ever Elegant Blouse v2 and the Rather Ravishing Skirt v2 from Gilded Ghost’s New Woman set! I ended up pairing these two together because, with the apron, I thought this made another good “maid” Alice outfit – though she looks like she’s working somewhere fancier than Houndsditch in this set, that’s for sure. (Now I’m tempted for her to somehow get her hands on a maid’s outfit from the Van Dort estate when her and Smiler’s attempt to return Victor to his parents ends up in them robbing them for being shitheads who don’t care about their son...) But it’s a nice look for her, and I am THRILLED that this and the other tops from that set worked with her necklace! :D Seriously, so many outfits hide that necklace, and given that it’s suppose to be her wearing Lizzie’s room key, I’d like it to be visible more often than not!

Case in point, the necklace is also visible in this outfit, which is Alice wearing the Jacket Jubilee top with the Perfectly Plain skirt from the New Woman set. This set I just thought looked nice on her, and made a nice – semi-formal? This feels fancier than casual, but not fancy enough to be formal. Like, maybe this is something she’d wear if the gang were heading to the Golden Plum for a nice dinner, or to a park for a trio date. That sort of thing. Not “fancy neighborhood” wear, but a step above hanging around the house.

By contrast, Alice is definitely not leaving the house in this outfit. XD This is dzifasims’s Bespoke Corset, paired with a plain Get Famous skirt that I thought looked like a shift or underskirt (I thought the corset CAME with one, but apparently I was mistaken). It’s nice to have a plainer corset that doesn’t look like it was bought for sex purposes, unlike the base game one. Though I do like the “bought for sex purposes” one too. XD Alice probably prefers this one, though – it’s more her style, and I think it makes good underwear for her.

Onto the masc stuff, with Smiler showing off pandorasimbox’s Azariah’s Sacksuit. I have mixed feelings on this – the basic shape of the suit is okay, and I liked pairing it with the bowler, but as per usual this suit did not have any of the right swatches I needed for Smiler. The problem is, people do a lot of muted colors for Victorian-style clothes, and even the ones that include brighter swatches tend not to do a lot of yellow. Meaning I often end up with poor Smiler wearing beige because that’s as close as I can get. *sigh* I mean, I do rather like the look on them – they kind of look like they’re auditioning for a Charlie Chaplin movie – but it’s gotta be BRIGHTER, you know? *sigh* I gotta learn how to recolor clothes... (Also, amusingly, the boots are actually from Moschino – they actually look Victorian enough when you cover up the tops with a long pant.)

Fortunately, while [LonelyBoy]’s TS4 Solardius Outfit doesn’t have a yellow swatch, it DOES have a black swatch with gold decorative details, and that I can work with – especially when paired with the High School Years shoes I love so much for Smiler in the “black with yellow stitching” swatch. :) Not sure how much I like the high collar on Smiler, but this is certainly not a bad look for them!

And it CERTAINLY isn’t a bad look for Victor, who suits that high collar much better. XD As you can see, Victor got the nice dark blue swatch with the red tie, which is kind of the inverse of his tie/vest color scheme in the movie. XD But it suits him, and again, this seems like a nice, semi-formal outfit he might wear for an outing with his partners where he wanted to look a little more put together. :)

And there you have it – me playing with my favorite trio like dolls again. XD What can I say, it’s fun to dress them up in new outfits! And these particular sessions help inform me of what I’d like my trio to wear in the Valicer In The Dark universe. Since, you know, I’m pretty well obsessed with that these days. XD So don’t @ me, downloading CC is writing research, okay? Okay. :p

If you’re not familiar with the musical “Ride The Cyclone” and it’s current script situation with one of its main characters, this post is not for you! Thank you!

So I understand the “Ride the Cyclone” Fandom is really upset, including me ESPECIALLY and we all have a right to be, but I think at the same time, we all need to realize these four things regarding the “Ricky Potts script change” situation: Keep in mind I am NOT disabled so I don’t want to speak for anyone else, but I do want to share important things that I think most of the fandom needs to acknowledge:

Despite the change being an unnecessary piss poor decision and a HUGE downgrade compared to what the script was like before, we need to acknowledge that Ricky STILL has a disability. He may not have the same one he had before, but being mute from trauma is in fact a disability. I say this because everyone keeps saying he’s no longer disabled and that’s just not true. Again, it was still a bad change but his disability wasn’t completely erased like everyone keeps saying.

Disability representation in theater and casting more actors with said disability’s is something that NEEDS to be spoken up about, but harassing the creators and actors are NOT the way to do it. If you’re just telling the crew to off themselves and painting them as one note monsters, that is not getting anyone anywhere, and not helping.

Speaking of portraying people as one note, some of y’all honestly need to stop painting Brooke Maxwell and Jacob Richmond (the writers of the original script) as irredeemable monsters. Again, this issue in theater is something that desperately NEEDS to be spoken up about, and voices need to be heard, but as much as I hate to say it, we really DON’T know all the details on why the script was changed. We don’t know what was going through the writers heads, we DON’T know the full story, so seeing everyone say the writers changed it simply because they were ableist and nothing else are just jumping to conclusions way too early. Regardless if you think they’re truly ableist or not, regardless if you’ve lost all respect for them, these writers are still PEOPLE at the end of the day, and people make mistakes. There is always room to grow, there is always room to learn and improve. We need to actually speak up and inform them that this change was not a good one, instead of just screaming at them, sending threats and calling them ableist pieces of shit, something that I’ve seen SO many people do and it’s an issue. It’s hard to actually IMPROVE yourself when everyone is just calling you bad names and not seeing you as a layered person.

At this point of making this post, people really need to stop arguing with Kholby Wardwell (actor for Noel Gruber) on twitter. I don’t care if you like him, I don’t care if you don’t like him……STOP….arguing with him. I shouldn’t say everyone is, but there are a few, and there’s no point guys, stop harassing him. He’s made it clear on how he feels about all of this, and its obvious at this point, nobody can change his mind on his viewpoints. People also need to stop calling him ableist as well, because if you’ve read his twitter thread, you can tell he never had malicious intent. Of course I’m not excusing some of the way he worded or said things, but again, these issues for the RTC crew as a whole need to stop being viewed with a one note lens. While it’s not hard to say “theater needs to hire more disabled actors and make it accessible for them”- it’s ALSO not hard to NOT see everything as black and white, mainly the motivations behind the writers and actors. These are all things that need to coexist within the fandom, and people also need to stop pressuring the others to speak on this subject. Again, when you speak up about an important subject matter like this, doing it with aggression is not the way to go.

With all of that said, this script change has heavily disappointed me, even hurt me. I personally thought it was perfectly okay for Ricky to be a kid who got a degenerate disease at 6 years old and lost his ability to walk and talk, but somehow the writers felt the need to change it. It was unnecessary in my opinion, because I felt like the script wasn’t really the issue, it was casting able bodied actors as disabled characters, and getting rid of Ricky’s crutches five minutes into the show. That, as well as treating his disability as a joke, mainly the comments by Ocean. These were all criticisms the show has gotten over the years, so it hurts to see that what we got was the writers idea of “improving” that. Instead of “improving” it however, it felt more like they erased the issue so they wouldn’t get controversy and could avoid the problem, without putting in the effort. HOWEVER, despite that I don’t truly feel like that was the writers intentions. For now, I’ll give the writers the benefit of the doubt, because I do believe that they truly felt like they were helping and encouraging the disabled community, even if the outcome didn’t turn up that way. Again, we STILL don’t know the full story, so I sincerely hope Brooke Maxwell and Jacob Richmond come out with an official statement soon giving us the full insight to why they did what they did, since the new script has gotten so much backlash. It’s clear this change has done more harm than good, and with respect, I hope the writers can be educated and more open minded to why their idea wasn’t the best at all. I have always praised the writing of this musical, I haven’t been in the fandom that long but it has become one of my current favorite musicals of all time, and Ricky Potts has always been a character I adored, and he deserves SO much better. For all of this to happen because of one huge fuckup, hurts. At the end of the day, we all want the same thing. We all want disabled people to be treated like human beings, with respect, and have more accessibility, not just in theater, but EVERYWHERE. We all have a right to be mad, we all have a right to speak up, and I just hope that as a society we all can educate one another without it being taken too far. I sincerely wish the fandom, the writers, everyone, can bounce back from all of this, and society improves as a whole when it comes to the disabled. I will still continue to enjoy Ride the Cyclone, and watch it over and over because no script change can get in the way of my enjoyment of the show. With that said, things NEED to change, and I especially hope the Mccarter Theater gets the consequences to their horrendous action of illegally firing it’s only disabled actor. With that said, feel free to say your thoughts, feel free to disagree, I just needed to get this all out. Thank you for reading.

Twitter is fucking weird. IT’S FAN ART.

Haven’t posted my personal thoughts on tumblr in a LONG time and after seeing what I saw on my TL, I just wanted to get everything off my chest. I’ve been posting more settphel fan art on here, but as I’ve stated before, I’m not really a fan of the ship; however, I can appreciate the artists work who draw the ship. Something people on twitter can’t do.

Apparently someone drew SB Sett & Aphelios with their own OC and it made Settphel-GayLeaguetwt explode? Of course, Bitches- I mean, Witches, is at the forefront (are we even surprised?). Here’s the art in question:

As someone else mentioned; GravesTF was confirmed this year, Ezko in pulsefire, Lee Sin & Udyr, Aphelios in Sett’s Firecracker splash and now Settpehl in SB? I guess all of these dont count anymore because someone drew fan art of Sett & Aphelios with someone in between them.

People calling the pic “homophobic” even though Sett was hinted to be Bisexual by his narrative writer for the skin line. While people HEADCANON that Aphelios is mlm or ace, he hasn’t been confirmed by Riot as either. So, no, not homophobic. This commenter biphobic? most likely.

“I hate women making mlm relationships be about them” “How dare someone draw these characters, that I don’t own, the way they want! They’re so selfish!”

This was the comment that pushed me to making a post:

“Seems disrespectful” to who? Random people on twitter.com, who ship two fictional characters? How is this fan art ‘disrespectful’? Better, why do you feel disrespected by it? The fan art wasn’t made for YOU, so if you feel disrespected, that sounds like a you problem. Also implied (where?) =/= canon. No where in lore or voice lines, (as of right now) has stated that Aphelios is mlm. I would say that it’s headcanoned by a majority of the Settphel community, but remember, your head canon =/= canon.

They have since deleted their original thread but they’re still quote retweeting:

Again, how does this one piece of fan art erase your representation? This artist’s fan art isn’t canon. Riot themselves didn’t make official promo art of Sett with Soraka or changed his voice lines so he doesn’t call Aphelios mooncake. Settphel is still “canon” whether artists draw them with other characters or not. (also the “I was bi for half my life,” good for you? Dont know what that has to do with fictional characters and a piece of fan art = erasure. It’s giving “I have a black friend” energy.) Also, “people with too much free time,” yet you made a whole ass thread about how “disrespected” you felt about a piece of fan art and continued to talk about it in quote retweets AND in dms after you deleted said thread so...

Doesn’t matter if it’s canon or not, stop trying to police what artists can and cannot draw. Fan art DOESN’T HAVE TO BE CANON, IT CAN BE WHATEVER THE FUCK PEOPLE WANT IT TO BE BECAUSE IT’S *THEIR* FAN ART. I cant believe that has to be said. There are HUNDREDS of other artists on twitter actually drawing Sett and Aphelios together. I’ve only seen a couple of people draw Settraka and other art like this because psychos dogpile and harass these artists into either deleting the artwork or privating/deleting their account. Yummy, bullying people over fucking fan art. Someone pointed out, “people bully settphel artists too because they don’t like settphel” to which I say, don’t ever bully ANYONE. PERIOD. You don’t like what the artist drew? Block & mute, baby. Leave them alone, let them and mutuals enjoy their art/ship in peace. No one gives a fuck and needs to hear you announce that you don’t like it. I’ll personally say on my own tumblr blog, “I’m not really a fan of [insert ship here]” but if I ever do make that comment, it’s usually followed by, “but I definitely can appreciate the artist’s work and I like the artist’s style.” Again, I’d never comment that under the artist’s post; I’ll say it in my own personal space. I’ll just give them a like, maybe a retweet and keep on scrolling. They don’t need to know that I’m not into that ship. They probably also dont care and have enough people already telling them that anyways. They didn’t draw it for me, they drew it because they liked it. “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” I’ve been being a lot better about typing up something to someone else and just thinking to myself, “its not worth it” and deleting the whole thing. I’m not gonna change their mind and they aren’t going to change mine so why bother, you know? Here is my own personal ranting space so it’s a bit different.

And yes, before you point out how this isn’t the only fandom that’s toxic and how toxic other fandoms are, like the genshin fandom, almost everyone pictured here is also part of the genshin fandom. Coincidence? No. Toxic individuals of a feather are gonna flock together lol.

A cherry on top:

“I’m going to need to take a break from the community because someone drew fan art of two characters, that I don’t own, with their own oc, and it made that me upset.” Bruh.💀 Fucking toddlers, man. Alright everyone, lesson of the day is: you’re not allowed to draw anyone with anyone else except their canon significant other or the most popular head canon. Yes, I’m going to police what you draw and if you draw what I dont like, it’s erasure and it hurts my feelings. :’c Y’all can only draw what I like, okay? Okay. But seriously like... bruh. Over ONE. SINGLE. PIECE. of fan art. In the OCEAN of Settphel fan art that’s all over twitter, some settphel fans felt so attacked and butthurt that this person drew one picture of Sett and Aphelios with their OC.

The artist didn’t give a shit about their feelings and drew this in response. All I gotta say is power to ‘em.

It’s giving:

You’ll always hear me say, as long as it’s not illegal, gore, incest, etc, ship what you want to ship. I’m also going to add to that, let other people ship what they want to ship. Someone drawing the two characters you like not together and with someone isn’t erasure or a personal attack. Sett and Aphelios aren’t your OCs, and artists can draw them doing whatever they want.

Colors (chapter 1/3)

In the wake of the DDOS attack on AO3 I decided to upload what I have posted from “Of Blades and Parchment” to here since the site is unavailable. The writing is a couple years old at this point and the series is unfinished (not abandoned!) but I figured that it might bring some joy to some random person waiting for the site to be back.

Summary: Who was he to affect him in this way, to somehow get such a reaction out of him that drawn swords didn't? To make him long for contact he hadn't needed nor wanted in years?

The last two stories but it's Altaïr's perspective and he has no clue how to deal with new things or emotions.

The first time Altaïr sees him, it's at the marketplace.

He is crouched on one of his favorite perches in the city, a tall tower with intricate tiles. It’s located in a rare blindspot, where the roof patrols don’t pass. The tower is taller than most of his other perches, but not so tall that his stomach fills with dread at the effort it would take to climb it.

He is able to see a good distance from here, and in the afternoon sun, Altaïr switches his Eagle Vision on. The world fades to monochrome, and the sounds become muted to his ears. The assassin takes a moment to breathe in the untouched air, and then turns his attention to the streets below him.

The people beneath his feet look like ants. He can see the red of the guards walking the streets. There is an informant a couple buildings over, and it looks as if there is a meeting of some kind between two merchants in the opposite direction, both glowing white with the promise of intel.

He is about to switch back to his regular vision when he sees it. A few streets over, is an ever so faint blue shape. Altaïr stares at it in confusion as it moves. This was not the first time he had seen blue of course. After all, his brothers were blue. Except for Abbas. Altaïr had never liked him, not just because of his insufferable personality or his grating voice, but because he was red. Red meant danger. It meant that Abbas was not to be trusted.

Nevermind all of that now, why was there a blue shape in the middle of Jerusaelm?

Altaïr would know if a brother was in the city as well, and to his knowledge, he was the only man sent for this target. He also knew he should ignore it. He had orders to follow, a man’s death to see to, but he was curious damn it!

He glared at the shape as if that would solve the mystery, and that's when he finally realized something was...off. That glow wasn’t nearly as bright as it should be, not nearly as vibrant. He blinked, returning his sight to normal. His brows furrowed in confusion.

While the edges of his Eagle Vision’s reach did in fact tend to become blurred and duller, the figure was close enough that it shouldn’t happen.

He switched back to make sure he had seen it right. It was definitely duller than it should be. He needed to figure out who this was.

He jumped from his perch, his vision flickering back to color as he carved his way through the air and landed in the hay cart. When he was younger and unpracticed, the thought of doing such a thing would have made him nauseous, but he wasn’t a novice anymore.

Altaïr emerged from the cart, brushed the hay off of his shoulders, and as if he hadn’t done something death defying, walked away at a leisurely pace. He wasn’t worried about losing his new objective. The faint blue color had not been moving quickly, and it was only a few streets away. Even if this unknown person moved locations, he would still be able to track them in no time.

As it turned out, it was not needed. He could see the man haggling for some bread. Altaïr sat on a nearby bench and turned his vision back on. The man was blue, but it was faint, just as it had been from the tower. The color was faint enough that it was more grey in nature, and he could still clearly make out the man’s features through it.

His hair was short and darkly colored. It looked as if it was black, but it was hard to tell with the world bleached into grey around him. His jaw was sharp and lined with stubble that looked as if it needed to be shaved soon. Most notably he was missing his left arm. The fabric of his sleeve was pinned up to his shoulder, probably so it wouldn’t be caught on anything.

He didn’t wear an assassin’s robes, yet he still glistened that pale blue. Perhaps he was undercover? But it wouldn’t make much sense to be arguing over the price of bread while doing so. Besides, the missing limb would have made him recognizable, and Altaïr didn’t recognize this stranger.

The man, seemingly fed up with his debate, left in a huff. He walked right by Altaïr’s bench, so close that he could touch him. Altaïr, surprised at himself, caught his hand and lowered it before he could reach the color.

The assassin sat in befuddlement as the man rounded the corner. Never before had he been so drawn to one’s colors. Never before had he tried to physically touch them.

It was the last one that shocked him the most. Altaïr didn’t particularly like contact. Yet here he was, reaching towards someone he didn’t even know the name of without a conscious thought.

This was a bad idea. He had things to attend to.

Altaïr stood from the bench and followed the man around the corner like a fish hooked on a line.

He tailed the stranger for at least thirty minutes, staying out of sight, scaling buildings and blending within the crowds. He didn't know exactly why he followed the man, nor did he know what caused him to sneak around in such a way.

What he did know was that the man carried himself with his head held high. He disliked the crowds, and began to grow more agitated as time went by. He seemed to have some kind of preference in paper if the ten minutes he spent judging it was anything to go by.

Altaïr also knew that at one point he could have sworn that the man saw him, and his heart started to beat fast in his chest. Fast in the way that it beat during a fight. His breath caught in the back of his throat, and he only released it after the man looked away from his direction.

Who was he to affect him in this way, to somehow get such a reaction out of him that drawn swords didn't? To make him long for contact he hadn't needed nor wanted in years?

He didn't like the way this was going. Didn't like that this man made him so nervous while simultaneously urging him closer. Didn't like that he couldn't figure out his colors.

Altaïr buried his curiosity under his aggravation and left.

Why Tumblr Should Be Revived

1. The staff is not nearly as strict about porn as before. They got rid of the failed algorithm that attempted to detect skin on posts. This was the biggest driving factor to the migration. Artists can now thrive on here once again without having their posts flagged as porn when they’re not.

2. There are also many porn blogs on here still because as I previously mentioned, staff isn’t as strict as they used to be. You can potentially view and own a porn blog on here as long as you are careful. At the very least, it can have suggestive pictures and explicit text posts. There are millions of those on here.

3. This community was like no other. This was the only social media where the neurodivergent, the LGBTQ, the furries, the “cringe” people, where ALL social outcasts found a home. People came here and realized there were many others out there just like them. Tumblr is the home to aesthetics and fandom and has a sense of community you can’t find elsewhere. Tumblr has always been meant for niche interests, many of which have been born from here. It’s fun to be a part of that. There’s a reason why a lot of people don’t like Twitter anymore: it’s because it’s mainly populated by former Tumblr users. Ever since the migration, people have been complaining about hating sensitive Twitter users. Niche community members went somewhere they weren’t really welcomed. This is fine because social media is for everyone, but wasn’t it so fun to have a place where the niche and different thrived? It felt special.

4. Twitter is going down in flames. It’s no secret that Twitter’s website has started to worsen ever since Elon has taken ownership. Twitter already doesn’t let you curate your dashboard as much as it should, since you’re seeing what other people like, but not what you like. It guarantees that you will see content you don’t want to more than you would on a social media like Tumblr where filtering content is so much easier. This is why it’s much easier to avoid discourse on Tumblr if you choose to do so. Also, no one on Twitter uses tags due to the short character count on a tweet, resulting in lots of unfiltered content coming your way. Yes you can mute words, but you definitely already have or will see art or other imagery you don’t want to see due to short and irrelevant captions. Additionally, Twitter is no longer being moderated by anybody. Elon Musk has fired the majority of the staff that regulates content violating Twitter’s rules. Reporting on Twitter essentially does almost nothing at this point. Apart from that, you have the option to remove ads on Tumblr, the checkmarks here are more colorful, you can have several blogs all under one email, and if all that isn’t convincing enough, you can at least leave Twitter as a “fuck you” to Elon if that’s more your style.

5. Tumblr as a website and app have both improved. Not only did they get rid of the porn-detection algorithm, but they also provided us with many more options to customize our dashboards. The app is significantly less buggy as well. And now you can choose from a set of a couple colored themes in settings for when you’re browsing the dashboard and search.

6. The amount of personalization you can have with your dashboard and blog is unlike any other website. It’s only improved but even before it was one of the key features that has made Tumblr different.

7. Tumblr is less stressful than other social medias. Due to how good the content filtering is, we can avoid a lot of unwanted content. Less discourse, less triggering, less negativity. You don’t have the other common social media pressures of following a certain amount of people because it’s common to hide that information here, along with the amount of followers you have. That means anyone here can be “Tumblr famous.” Blocking is also frowned upon on most social medias, but it’s pretty commonplace on Tumblr. Block everybody if you want to, even me.

i'm ranting about my ex boyfriend because he's so mean and i'm literally. i'm just here i just exist and he hates me idfk

so i call him an ex but really he was a fucking 4 month situationship i should've ran MY BAD GUYS !!! anyway we had a little thing i guess and we broke up around January/february. things were so good in the beginning, but the main reason why we didn't date was because he wasn't over his ex. i know i'm side eyeing my screen too. ANYWAY so things were sooo good and i was like "omg ! he really likes me and he wants to be in a relationship soon !!" i was very wrong.

okay so something about me is that i have bpd and it's not like. super horrible but i still do have it on top of attachment issues, fear of communication (trauma lolll), jealousy issues, etc. he used to always talk about his girl friends and say how funny they were, send me screenshots of their chats, games they were playing, said "sorry i hang out with ____ to much she's affecting me". BRO WHY DIDNT I RUN anyway i was just really sad and felt jealous but felt like i couldn't because we weren't. yk. technically dating BUT HE TOLD ME HE WANTSD TO 💔💔

anyway another thing is he was a really big gamer and. was not. he wanted me to play games with him and i told him i was really bad but he was like "it's okay i'll teach you !!" lets just say i don't really like to play games anymore. :( he used to yell at me for being bad to the point i had to mute myself sometimes and try not to cry in a match because i felt horrible for disappointing him. i spent hours learning his favorite games just to still not be good and it made me feel really horrible and upset. then i just told him i don't really wanna play and he said "it's okay i'll just play with (insert girl here)" and i was just like :(((( and he played with those girls every single day and would ignore me to play with them which made me feel worse.

another thing is he talked about his ex all the time. and i let him vent to me about her. he even called her "my qiqi" which was his nickname for her when they were dating while venting to me. i'm gonna cry typing this bye

anyway at the end of our situationship he got really mean and really didn't give a shit if it hurt my feelings or not. he got mad at me for going on a date WITH MY FRIEND FOR VALENTINE'S DAY because he posted "fuck valentines" and didn't do a single thing or even text me on that day. so yeah i just didn't even say anything and blocked him because he was manipulating me and was awful and abused me !!! don't date men who aren't over their exes guys !!

some fans really are unbelievable. when faced with the suggestion if you don’t like dunes you should just mute and leave them alone and the response is

“what if i like hating?” and “if you don’t like dune hate you should take your own advice and just block those accounts if you don’t like the content”

the joy these fans take in bullying blinds them to the effect that their words have on other people. they only care about how good harassing others makes them feel and do not care about the mental health/self esteem impacts on their targets - people they do not know but also claimed to love at some point. people with known mental health problems, self esteem issues and addictions some active some not. people are calling you out because you are causing others harm and you sadistic qualities should not be tolerated.

and for the “just block the haters if you don’t want to hear” it is more than not engaging with material you don’t like, this is more then just a difference of opinions and only consuming the content you enjoy. these dune haters are going out of their way to sabotage the dune’s career. vocal hate online on all forums and in person, remember the booing at that show? spreading damaging lies about the dunes, recruiting more people to hate them. wanting them to fail, and gloating at any perceived failure. this is not something we can just pretend is harmless and it’s just mcr fans having fun at the dunes expense.

and clearly they know “being a hater” has a negative effect because they get real defensive when they are called out for their behaviour. not so fun when you are on the other side of it.

it blows my mind that these fans think that it’s okay to bully dunes because mcr would somehow be okay with it? as if frank would just forget as soon as he is working with mcr. that the other members will look at their friends being bullied by their so called fans and be okay with it. that they wouldn’t believe that one day they will be at the receiving end themselves - they know they aren’t perfect and make mistakes, while knowing that fans can be weaponized against them with lies and manipulation, it feels inevitable for them if they choose to continue on. so these anti dunes fans are actually sabotaging the thing they claim to love the most. gerard especially is sensitive to fan criticism, it’s why he does not use his public accounts and disappeared for a time and needed so much help and encouragement to get back on the stage with mcr. as much as i hated the swarm motif him and his wife created, damn times like this i get it.

and i find it astonishing that some of the fans doing this not only have been around for so long, but are known beyond a username. at the dunes concert it was weird to recognize people from their ‘face reveal’ selfies and other personal information they shared online. to the point i know a lot of them travelled to see dunes. some posted selfies with frank and the band after the shows. and made gushing posts about them. and now they are revealing they never actually liked them and they were hoping to placate frank so mcr would continue on. and mcr and dune members see more online then they let on. if i recognized some of these people, i’m sure they are well aware of who these people are. and they know and will remember this behaviour. they will be civil, but let’s be real. but if i was them, i would not like these fans very much. at all. they have no idea just how much they are embarrassing themselves.

Hi! While not new to tumblr it’s been quite a while and oh boy, I wasn’t expecting some of the drama that’s been happening all because of people moving from twitter to tumblr. Though I am a jc/xicheng main myself, I’m sorry y’all are having to deal with this.

Personally, I understand not feeling how fanon can change a character. I’ve felt this way about lwj sometimes (some ppl make him care too much about jc that it feels ooc) so I often avoid certain things and that even includes some themes of xicheng that makes wangxian completely different). Ah, I’m saying that gibberish to mean that I can relate to the frustration even if it’s not the same—

You should be allowed to vent and talk about it. You guys created a tag specific to that too and you guys don’t bother other tags either. I don’t see what the issue is personally with that.

Also, just bc I’ve seen this accusation a bit, I don’t think it’s the JC Stans who’ve been on tumblr for quite a while causing the drama so much as it’s those moving from twitter. Even some tumblr Jc fans have said themselves [paraphrased] “they created that tag quite a while ago. Best to just mute the tag and let them be.” Honestly, I didn’t even know that tag existed until people started pointing it out. If you’re in the general Jc tag, you don’t see the canon Jc tag stuff anyway.

I say the best thing is to just ignore them and keep posting meta/analysis there as you guys have been. I’ve seen fandom discourse get bad enough (*cough* FE3H fandom *cough*) that you just learn to ignore, block, and keep doing the norm. They’ll leave you alone when they see they can’t move you. And if they’ve blocked you, they’re only doing it to themselves.

I think we can definitely agree on just not vibing with certain types of fanon even if we aren’t bothered by it existing as long as we can still play our own way. I have no beef with Xicheng fans at all, it’s just not my thing (and I totally get you on the LWJ bit of it too).

I really don’t know why it’s suddenly such an issue now too! We had like eight months of total peace about the tag! It made sense for those of us here and allowed us to stop feuding and I was happy with that. It’s nice to just have an easy shorthand where both sides can filter out the one they don’t want and go from there.

Yeah I agree that it’s the Twitter fans. I’ve had a couple of people say that the tag has been overrun by antis and that’s what gets me there, cause I was one of the first to start using it at all, so can a tag really be overrun if that’s how it was always used? It wasn’t like we stole it or anything, I don’t think it existed outside of a few quieter blogs before my friends and I got in on the whole thing. I’m glad to hear that tumblr JC fans are also being reasonable about the whole thing.

<3 thank you Anon for the suggestion. I shall do my best to not start up new fights, but honestly I do tend to bite back when people bring the fight to my posts and inbox. But I shall continue to tag accordingly and hopefully all shall die down soon and we can return to our relative harmony.

Dream’s greatest issue is not developing a content-friendly way of venting frustration, like he is emotional and can’t control it when he gets frustrated which is the worst combination.

Him being highly emotional destroys any logical thinking during situations like this - his rant was him being an idiot and not acknowledging he had no context or what was possible for the game - i.e suggesting they should’ve ended the game asap or average coins which wasn’t built in. If he wasn’t so emotional he could’ve thought through it a bit more and shut up. Doesn’t help tthat he thinks he’s logical at these points so he sounds like the nerd emoji but everything he says is wrong 😭

The lack of control destroys any attempts to turn it into humour like a lot of other streamers do - Micheal McChill absolutely raging against Ace Race is funny because he has enough control to direct his frustration to make the content work still. Or even enough to walk away from the situation consistently, I know he has a few times in situations where he underperforms or a minor glitch happens, and will remove himself from sitautions a lot (re: muting to focus when not doing well, leaving stream quickly) - I know people will say he’s a bad sport if he leaves mid game to collect himself but anyone saying that doesn’t understand people work differently. Emotional + Not being good a controlling it is such a mess because it comes off as incredibly misdirected anger and there is no content it’s just cringe. It always feels like when he goes on a rant (even if I think this one was tempered because he did litter it with useless mcc praise) and acts like this that he will come down from it and immediately regret it. Tbh I’ve always hoped that Dream reconsiders therapy after his fr (and hopefully the improvement in mental health since hed be less paranoid and will be able to go outside and not have a panic attack 😭 will get him to be more included) < last bit is a bit too parasocial tbh but I just want him to improve because there’s always overblown twitter drama over something where people say he should “just not react like that” which isn’t helpful in the slightest when discussing an actual person.

Also while I’m here, I hate the way his fans defend him sometimes because they go about it the wrong way. Here they will say he has a right to express an opinion and I will agree, if that opinion is controlled and doesn’t have the two comments that were main issue in this case. One was the implying bias towards someone else - could’ve been a joke, Dream is bad at tone, but harmful still when some people think the entirety of noxcrew hate him (they could tbh but so long as it doesn’t effect their work it doesn’t matter if they do) && the other being the “criticism vs hate” comment because while true, there is a difference, they overlap a lot which Dream has experienced and already accepted before (“criticism comes with hate” - Dream, 2022). Plus his fans are only largely going to parrot his flawed critism that was made with no context to noxcrew on mass 😭 just tell twitter to shut up about mcc “crit” and half the drama surround you will be gone bro (it doesn’t work like that ofc but similar sentiment).

Don’t worry about it friend. I agree with you a lot on these points. I love watching Dream’s content myself he was the one who introduced me to many others I watch now. Eret, Foolish, Philza, Grian, Scar, etc…

I find it sad that when he get angry his fans see it as their gods given right to spread hate in his name. I don’t think Dream can control his fans, but rather he can be aware of what they do. He never seems to genuinely care when they are doing horrible things to other people saying it’s for him.

I remember Markiplier and Jacksepticeye sometimes telling their fans they do not encourage this behavior. And they truly meant it. And would block people who claimed to be a fan who harmed others online.

But I fail to see this with Dream, and it frustrates me. I get loving your fans but like with friends irl once they start to be toxic and do questionable things, you need to question is they are worth keeping.

I struggle myself with emotional ADHD outbursts. But I do my best to remind myself that I can’t let these emotions, this anger, cloud my judgement. I need to be careful with what I say and how I say it. I don’t censor myself but I take my words into consideration to how others will react to it.

I feel Dream hasn’t wound that yet in himself, and let his competitive side cloud his mind. He lets his anger take hold of his words and says them without think until it’s already too late.

Which sucks as I don’t want him banned from MCC. But the more he pulls this stuff I wonder how much longer until he does something that will really get him in deep water.

I guess it’s good you were spared the major hate train against Jimin by the solos of all the other members + all other kpop fandoms. The first 3 weeks of Face were hellish with how intense the hate was. I don’t want to compare hate against members but I wish Jimin had only fraud and payola allegations against him, which he also had, but a lot of it was the most disgusting s*xually charged hate tweets which literally made me cry while I was reporting it. I also have words muted but it still got through on my tl because of how intense and vile it was. He was basically the punching bag of whole stan twitter. Anyways its good you are an OT7 and love Jimin since I can’t say the same about quite a few of them. And my intention is not to call out people calling out solos, which they should do. But it should never be selective. And I apologise if I came across as aggressive.

I saw some of the hate towards Jimin during the FACE era, but I usually scrolled, blocked, and moved on. I'm not one to engage, as I've said before.

Also, crazy to accuse Jimin of payola when Like Crazy barely got any spins. Billboard literally modified their rules so Payola could become one of the only 'legit' ways of generating high rankings on the board. Fans buying albums? Fake. Corporations spending millions to have a song force-fed to the public? Legit. Okay, Billboard. Okay. I get it, you get a nice cut out of this, but album sales? You're not pinching a pretty penny there, I suppose.

I also saw that one tweet that reached the ugly side of stan Twitter where someone said that a lot of the hatred towards Jimin is ROOTED in misogyny. That's true, a lot of the hatred towards Jimin has misogynistic undertones that cannot be ignored. Jimin is a victim of the patriarchy. Men can be victims of the patriarchy. This is common sense, we all know this. But people abandoned all critical reading/thinking skills and said that OP was trying to equate Jimin's hate to the female experience. No one was saying that, but if you want to be a certified stan Twitter hater, your IQ has to be less than 2.

I also saw a few tweets referring to his encore + in-ear situation, but I ignore every single one of those tweets, because there's not one person in that thread who can confirm, without a doubt, that their idol has not had a shaky vocal performance. As someone who did professional singing lessons, it's not entirely realistic for a singer to be at 100% all the time, especially if they've been doing weeks of promotions, studio recordings, and running on little sleep. Every vocalist has 'bad' vocal days, but that doesn't make them bad singers. I also draw and I've had several bad art days, but that doesn't mean I'm a bad artist just because I couldn't draw the way I wanted to at one point in time.

The whole point of OT7 is to love all of the members. To support all of the members. If someone claims to be OT7 but has no issue throwing a member under the bus, then they're not OT7.

So it’s probably about time we made an introduction post for ourselves here on Tumblr. So, we’re The Court, a probably monoconscious, median, endogenic system. We’re willing to explain these terms if need be, but in short, there’s several sapient selves in one body/mind, we all experience most of what everyone else in here does, and we’re all very similar. If you’ve ever seen a kid’s show where they’ll, like, split a character into different bodies that each represent a specific emotion or aspect of themselves and that think and act separately? It’s not dissimilar, except that instead of being recombined into one single person at the end of the episode, we remain somewhat separate in spite of needing to share a body/mind.

And now, quick roll call!

Hestia, the Heir: The system host, meaning I am most often in charge of the body. My role is to pilot the body in such a way that everyone else in here gets what they need and want to the best of my ability. I’m very prone to overthinking every past interaction, everything I am doing currently, and everything that might possibly come to pass in the hopes of maybe doing better at piloting our trash fire of a life. Which has a predictable tendency to make me the most prone to burnout and exhaustion. She/Her.

Obsidian, the Chancellor: Greetings. My role in the system is to take advantage of my generally muted or nonexistent emotional state in order to provide objective advice to Hestia regarding the best methods of meeting the system’s needs. I am our analytical ability, primarily, and I am content with staying back and advising under most circumstances. Technically, I am agender in the sense that gender is honestly entirely irrelevant to me, but most people gender me as He/They, which will suffice under most circumstances.

Gwen, the Jester: Hiya! I’m the fun one around here. Basically, my thing is that I have the most ability to just enjoy things, so I serve as a kind of distraction from everyone’s emotional issues by making sure we do stuff that we actually enjoy doing once in a while. Not an easy task these days given how stressed-out everyone else is. I modeled myself loosely after Gwenpool from Marvel Comics, but honestly I’m just... me, whatever that ends up looking like from moment to moment. She/Her.

Eleanora, the Ambassador: Good day to you all. My role is to serve as our best attempt at modeling the social behavior of those around us and to use that knowledge to present ourselves appropriately and to avoid hurting anyone’s feelings. Sophont behavior is fascinating to me, though I will not pretend to be in any way a social expert. I am simply best-suited to this particular task. She/Her.

Alexandra, the Matron: Mm. You might call me our “inner critic”. I see what we ought to be capable of doing and what we need to be doing and push us towards actually doing so rather than lazing about all day. I am our discipline, our self-motivation, and, I am told, our stubbornly independent streak and our perfectionism. Personally I see it as there being a bare minimum of expected behavior in this society that we are falling vastly short of, but I am clearly outvoted here. She/Her will do.

Diana, the Champion: Yo. I’m our sense of justice and fairness, and our anger when things are neither fair nor just. I say “Things shouldn’t be this way and they need to change”. I hold grudges where it’s helpful, I point out where we have been wronged both interpersonally and systemically, and I push us to do something where we have the ability to. I have very strong opinions on social issues, which I could rant about for hours. She/Her, but in a vaguely butch way. Like, y’know Wonder Woman? I named myself after her because I aspire to that level of pretty/striking enough to make people pay attention and buff enough to defend ourself and others.

Maple, the Bodyguard: I’m our sense of paranoia and the need to keep ourself physically safe. I don’t trust most people, I don’t like most people, and I would happily keep ourself in our small area of control until we died if that were at all practical. Since it isn’t, I make sure we take the precautions we need in order to keep us alive. Assume that anything you say on or near an electronic device is being monitored unless you’ve taken steps to prevent it, don’t disclose sensitive information about yourself to strangers, and for fuck’s sake wear your fucking masks COVID didn’t stop being a threat just because everybody thought it did. She/Her.

Carmilla, the Courtesan: Hello~! You could probably call me our sensitive side, and our sensuous one. I’m the one who craves touch and affection, who values beauty and aesthetics, and who most wants to experiment with sexual/romantic/queerplatonic relationships. I have no idea what would actually feel best for us on that front, but I would very much like to find out. We need a sense of belonging and acceptance and I’m the one most likely to push for it happening. Besides, if we’re gonna look pretty we gotta have people to show off to in some capacity or another! She/Her and if you misgender me I will be very upset.

Liliana, the Hedonist: Well hello there. I’m new, and to some extent I’m still forming. But the one thing we’re sure of thus far is that I am our self-interest, the one who will look out for us and what we want as opposed to putting others first. My job is to ask “Is that a sacrifice that needs to be made? Is this in any way our problem we have to solve?” Everything else will come with time, presumably, as I coalesce into a more distinct cluster of personality traits. She/Her pronouns, if you please.

Invidia Bat, the Exile: With a jealous scream to shatter the night, Invidia Bat has arrived! Nice to meet you. I exist to speak the pain and the envy and the inadequacy that the rest of the Court desperately tries to keep bottled up inside them. Those feelings deserve to be spoken, if only because keeping them inside is killing us. On a cheerier note, I’m our first confirmed fictive! We’ll see if more join me at some point. She/Her pronouns only.

Veyle, the Refugee: H-hi! I’m Veyle, and I’m told the terms I should use to introduce myself are that I’m an introject and part of a two-person subsystem? Also, I’m a dragon, that part I know for certain.

Fell Veyle, the Prisoner: I’m also Veyle, but so that it’s easier to tell us apart and because I’m not a coward who rejects their Fell Dragon heritage, I’m going by Fell Veyle.

{i am the caretaker of souls} Bit of a random rant below the read more about the headcanon question... what if Wanda developed psychosomatic colorblindness following DSMoM and could no longer see red?

So the 1994 movie Color of Night was on the other night and I hadn’t seen it in a very long time. I’ve always liked that movie, even though I know a lot of people have little good to say about it because of its sexual explicitness, uncomfortable discussions about childhood abuse, assault, and trauma, and its questionable portrayal of DID, but if you can look past the triggering content and exploitative feel at times, the plot was always one that interested me. I genuinely enjoyed it, although the ending is... emotionally rough. Jane March is an actress I feel has been so drastically underrated over the years too, because she’s great at expressing an array of harrowing emotions as well as vulnerability that somehow doesn’t come across as damsel-in-distress-ish. The combination of vulnerability and agency in her character in this movie is refreshing. If you like murder mysteries with a sexually-charged noir type feel in its unfolding, then check it out. But be warned of the potentially-triggering material I mentioned above.

The plot. Basically, a psychiatrist takes over running group therapy sessions from a colleague who was murdered, and in addition to trying to continue the patients’ therapy, he also tries to figure out who killed his friend. Around the same time he starts getting threatened himself by an unknown stalker, he meets and falls in love with an enigmatic woman who seems to not want him to know too much about herself. Plots and people and pasts become intertwined after that, and I don’t want to say any more because there’s a pretty significant twist at the end.

My point in mentioning it here is something that the psychiatrist experienced during the movie... psychosomatic colorblindness. He had suffered a previous trauma that had caused him to no longer be able to see the color red. Instead, everything that was supposed to be red was now a muted gray. Blood, for example, looked like gray paint to him. I haven’t seen the movie since I started watching MCU movies in 2018, so this time when watching it I thought to myself... what if Wanda suffered something similar post-DSMoM?

Imagine if the trauma of everything after the temple on Wundagore collapsed, everything she’d done, everyone she’d lost, and just the horrid truth of knowing she’d failed her boys and everyone else who believed in her... had caused Wanda to stop seeing the color red? As part of her brain’s response to all that trauma building up and then exploding, she wakes up after Wundagore (because we all know she’s not dead, come on, haha) and her outfit looks gray. She uses her powers... and her magic looks gray. It looks like smoke to her. Imagine how disconcerting and alarming that would be for her, because it’s been a part of her for so many years, and to see its color change to a dull gray, along with everything else that’s supposed to be red, would be alarming but also I’m guessing kindof depressing.

I know this is such a random thing to latch onto, but because the color that was muted in the movie was red, it just automatically made me think of Wanda, because so much about her and that she does is associated with red. And just imagine... the Scarlet Witch... being unable to see the color red... *shrugs* I don’t know, it was just an idea that hit me and I kindof want to add it in, only because I think it would help punctuate this new stage of trauma she’s going through now, like... it would be an indicator of just how much the events of DSMoM affected her, that she would develop this psychosomatic ailment. It would also be poetically poignant and fitting, if Wanda wakes up disgusted with herself and her powers, depressed by the monster her boys in 838 looked at her as, if she then couldn’t see red. It’d almost be as if she is mentally, in a subconscious manner, rejecting her own magic and title by wiping the color red from her vision.

And the solution to it would be so nebulous because psychosomatic ailments can clear up in a few days, months, years... or never. And what “heals” them is different for everyone, because the damage is in the brain, in the mind, not in the body. There would be nothing wrong with Wanda’s eyes or vision, but rather it would be how her brain is interpreting signals from her eyes that would be affected. It’s a psychological ailment, not a physical one, and those can be very difficult to alleviate. So there would be no telling when, or if, Wanda would regain her ability to see red.

*shrugs again* No point to this rant other than that it’s something I found interesting that made me think of Wanda and what the implications of it would be for her. If anybody wants to do a thread on this or wants me to add this condition to an existing thread for Wanda, let me know. It would be something interesting to explore as far as how she reacts to it and how it affect her and her magic going forward.
