a complex sirius who loves his family, especially his mom, is so much more tragic and nuanced and interesting than a sirius who flat out hates his family and i will die on that hill

You write Moody so well! I would love to see something where Moody and Remus talk for the first time after Coops was outed. Whether it happens after the meeting Coops had with Arthur and Alice or after the all star break. I feel like they have such a good relationship!
Thanks! This was partially inspired by watching The Karate Kid (1984) last night, so I hope y'all are ready for some mentor hurt/ comfort this fine Sunday! SW credit goes to @lumosinlove
TW for mentioned forced outing
Remus was almost done. He only had a few more drawers to clean out. The whiteboards were as squeaky and shiny as the day he arrived; the desk had a few more dents and coffee stains decorating the surface, but overall it looked decent. He still couldn’t bring himself to take the pictures off, though. It was his life. His friends. He just couldn’t do it.
The sleeve of his ancient Wisconsin hoodie was still damp when he smudged it under his runny nose. No tears had fallen, but he could feel the maelstrom gathering in his throat. Everything he had worked for, gone because of one stupid mistake.
Not Sirius, of course. Sirius would never be a mistake. It was Remus’ fault they had been caught in the first place.
He stared around his office in misery—no official notice of his layoff had arrived, but he knew it would come, and it was always better to be prepared. Maybe it would hurt less if he did it himself, one final ‘fuck you’ to the homophobes before he trooped off with his tail between his legs.
The tiles were cold through the seat of his comfiest jeans. He tucked his knees closer to his chest.
A quiet knock at the door interrupted the suffocating silence. He didn’t answer.
“Kid?”
Remus’ lower lip wobbled and he croaked out a ‘come in’ with as much strength as he could muster; it wasn’t much. The door opened with a creak—he had never gotten around to having it fixed, after all—and uneven footsteps shuffled in, followed by a sigh as his visitor settled next to him on the floor.
“You have a chair, you know.”
“I know,” he whispered.
“Not all of us have young knees. Doesn’t your ass hurt?”
Remus nodded.
Moody huffed through his nose and hoisted him up by the arm. “Well Christ, kid, up you come. You’re awfully dense for a beanpole. What, you got concrete for bones or something?”
“No,” Remus mumbled as he followed Moody across the hall and allowed himself to be plonked down in the soft chair by the door. It was his favorite of both their offices; as far as he knew, Moody never let anyone else sit there. His chest seized as a sob tried to fight its way out. “I’m sorry.”
Moody shot him a look at he got comfortable in the adjacent seat. “For what?”
“I dunno.”
“I don’t like useless apologies, Lupin.”
Remus sniffled. “I should’ve told you.”
“Says who?” Moody snorted. “Your business is your business. You’re a bright young man, none of this is your f—oh. Okay, Lupin, easy does it.”
“I’m sorry,” Remus blubbered as the tears finally started to fall. “I’m sorry, I know you don’t like crying, but I’m kind of a wreck right now.”
Moody made a few soft shushing noises, inching closer until he could wrap an arm around Remus’ shoulders and pat his arm like he was trying to soothe a frightened dog. “Don’t be sorry,” he said. “You’ve got nothing to be sorry for.”
The sobs were near-silent; Remus never cried loudly if he could help it, and he already felt bad enough for dripping his perpetual raincloud all over Moody’s office. He caught his breath after a few hitching inhales and scrubbed at his face with his sleeve. “Are you mad at me?”
“No.”
“Really?”
“You didn’t do anything wrong.”
Remus pulled his knees up again and hugged them tight to his chest. “I haven’t called my parents yet.”
“Did they know?”
His heart gave another painful yank. “Nobody knew. Nobody. And—and now it’s everywhere and people won’t leave me alone and I’m gonna get fired—”
“Woah, deep breaths,” Moody interrupted gently, giving him a little shake. “You’re not getting fired.”
“Yes, I am.” Everything felt gross and cold and sad.
“Who told you that?”
“Coach said it might happen ‘cause I’m a doctor.”
Moody scanned his face for a moment, then reached over and grabbed a box of tissues off his desk. “First of all, take some of these. You look like a mud puddle, Lupin. It’s very unsettling. Second, this is a complicated situation and I wouldn’t be too quick to make assumptions. And third, I’ll go to bat for you.”
He paused midway through blowing his nose. “What?”
“You’re a good man. An excellent PT. The best colleague I’ve ever had, actually. You know your shit and if they try to fire you over this, I’m not going to make it easy for them.”
More tears threatened to fall over the edge of his itchy eyes. “You’d do that for me?”
“Don’t sound so surprised,” Moody grumbled.
“He hasn’t called.”
“Who?”
“Sirius.” Remus swallowed hard and, before he could second guess himself, leaned his head on Moody’s solid shoulder. “I’ve called him 23 times and he hasn’t answered a single one. He just…left. Didn’t even look at me.”
“He’s making a mistake.”
“I ruined his life.”
“Hey.” Moody’s tone turned stern. “You don’t get to talk shit about yourself in my office. This is a Lupin Appreciation Zone.”
Remus’ shoulders shook and he closed his eyes; he wished he could just dissolve into the floor and stay there until someone mopped him up. Everything hurt. The world sucked. Moody—
Moody was petting his hair.
The tears stopped abruptly and Remus hiccupped in pure confusion. “What’re you doing?”
“I’m bad at comfort, kid, gimme a break.” The sat in silence for a few seconds as Moody continued to pat his head and muss his hair, which was in dire need of a cut but just long enough to cover his eyes when it was pushed forward. “Feeling better?”
“Yeah, actually. How did you…?”
Something akin to embarrassment tinted Moody’s cheeks and he cleared his throat. “My cat hates thunderstorms.”
“Oh. Cool. Thanks.”
“No problem.”
“Thanks,” Remus said again, much quieter. Moody’s office always felt safe; all the clutter was in its proper place, clean and homey. The touch of familiarity was more of a comfort than he cared to admit. He sat up straight and wiped his face clean, then leaned forward to rest his elbows on his knees. “If I do get fired—”
“You won’t.”
“If I do, I wanted to say thank you for changing my life.” The words hung in the air. “You—without you, I would never have felt at home here. You were the best mentor I could ever ask for and I’m never going to forget that. You did more than just teaching me routines. Thank you.”
Moody cleared his throat again. “Tissues.”
Remus silently passed the box.
“If anyone gives you shit for being gay, you call me and I’ll take care of it,” Moody said once the tissue had disappeared into the depths of his pocket.
Remis blinked at him. “Are you offering to hurt someone for me?”
“I’ll deny it in court.”
“I’ll keep that in mind,” he laughed. “Fuckin’ hell, this is a mess. I’m a mess.”
“You just got outed and your boyfriend ditched you in an airport,” Moody said bluntly, fixing Remus with a look. “You’re allowed to be a mess. Now go talk to Lily. Call your mom. Do whatever you do that makes you so sunshiney, and then we’re gonna unpack all your shit and put it back where it belongs.”
Remus swallowed hard. Fuck it. Fuck the NHL, fuck the homophobes, and fuck being sad.
Moody narrowed his eyes. “You want to use the kicking bag, don’t you?”
“I really, really do.”
---------------------
“Stupid—fucking—son of a bitch!” Remus gritted out as the beat-up and half-folded gym mat squeaked under his assault. It was two inches of plastic and therapy—he was 90% sure Moody had stolen it from a middle school gym, and it had rapidly become the team’s favorite way of winding down after a frustrating day.
“Harder!” Moody barked behind him.
Remus wound up and slammed his foot into it again. “I worked too damn hard to be kicked out for this bullshit!”
“Damn right you did!”
The kicking bag creased in the center. “And I’ve got too much student debt to walk out of here like—like a coward!”
“Yes, you do!”
His grief had burnt off at least five minutes prior. Remus was well and truly pissed now. “And it’s nobody’s goddamn business who I kiss!”
“That’s the spirit!” Moody cheered.
“And maybe his face is stupidly pretty!” Remus threw his shoulder against the mat before he resumed kicking it. “And, yeah, he has really nice shoulders and a great ass—”
“Lupin—”
“But fuck him for leaving me in an airport! What kind of douchebag does that to a guy? I’m hot and smart and nice and I can date whoever the hell I want if he doesn’t appreciate that!”
“That’s certainly one approach!”
Remus stopped with a harsh exhale and dropped one last halfhearted kick to the base. “I don’t want anyone else, though. And I miss his stupid pretty face.”
A hand, heavy but gentle, squeezed his shoulder. “Then go get him.”

Love Is You - chapter 28/final
a/n: And we came to the final chapter... I hope you liked the journey with Scarlett. Give her a gift and share your final thoughts about her or the fanfiction❤️🌹🐾
Tumblr media
It has been 7 months since Scarlett and Severus moved into Scarlett’s retirement house in Naxos. Severus has retired after he found out about Scarlett’s illness because he wanted to spend all of his time with Scarlett. Scarlett hasn’t wanted him to do that sacrifice for her but Severus was persistent. When they moved to Naxos in June, first couple of weeks passed with decorating the house; their choice of decoration style was a mix of coastal and Greek. After the decoration was done, Scarlett needed to accomplish her other retirement dream which was buying ducklings! Severus reconciled Scarlett that buying only 2 ducklings is enough. She has wanted more but they ended up buying a yellow one and a Rouen one. Scarlett named the Rouen one “Cookie” since it has dark spots and looked like a chocolate chip cookie, yellow one was Severus’s to name and he named it “Milky” just to go with cookie and milk theme. Luckily, Scarlett’s cat Athena got along with the ducklings and they all became the cutest trio ever.
Scarlett and Severus had times of their lives during the whole summer in Naxos. They went to swimming, discovered every corner of the island, had long walks and many more; but their favourite activity to do together was sailing with their small boat and reading books middle of the sea. They believed that either island’s weather or those activities helped to ease Scarlett’s illness a bit. She wasn’t having heart aches or pains frequently and she has passed out only couple of times during the summer. She got even better when Carina and Leo came to visit her time to time. Scarlett wanted to spend rest of the year in Naxos too, they went to London for 2 weeks in September for Scarlett’s yearly check-up and to visit her parents and Carina since she was took Severus’s job after him. When they came back to the island, it was calmer than before since the summer season has ended and all the tourists were back at their countries. They liked it better that way and enjoyed the silence of the island. Everything was going good and well until November arrived. Like how trees lose their leaves in fall, Scarlett started to lose her health. Now she was waking up nauseous every morning and the moment she got off the bed dizziness was adding to it as a plus, some days she wasn’t able to eat anything whole day because of that. In addition to this her blackouts became more frequently, and she would faint regularly. Somedays Scarlett would be in such a bad mood and cry her eyes out until she fell asleep. These days were the worst ones for Severus, he would try his best to calm her down and ease her pain but after Scarlett fell asleep, Severus would go by the sea and cry there all by himself.
Last week of November, Scarlett insisted to invite her children, her parents and Sirius to Naxos; saying that she wants to see them one last time. Those words stabbed Severus in the heart, and they had a small argument over it because Severus wanted her to believe that nothing will happen to her. But in the end Severus sent patronus messages to all of them, explaining the situation a bit. Scarlett haven’t said anything about her illness to anyone still. When they got Severus’s message, all was panicked and couldn’t understand what happened to her so suddenly. Her parents and Sirius apparated there in the same day with the message, Carina and Leo came in the night of the same day. Severus explained them her illness beforehand which did lead to an argument between them, they were angry that Severus hasn’t said anything to them until this day even in secret from Scarlett. But in the end, they all realized that arguing won’t help anything and it was time to see Scarlett. She wasn’t able to get out of the bed, so all went to see her in the bedroom. She was sleeping in the dark blue sheets which made her to look even paler than usual, her hair colour was the only lively thing on her at the moment.
Ricardus went over to his only daughter and woke her up by kissing her cheek softly. “Wake up princess...”
“Dad...” Scarlett looked at him sleepily and tried to sit up. “You came.” When she realized all the people she wanted to see was in the room, her sad eyes sparkled with happiness. “You all came!”
“Of course we did mummy!” Carina jumped on the bed to snuggle her.
“Be careful Carrie.” Leo warned her, he was extremely tense since he found out about his mother’s condition. Leo was the mummy’s boy since birth and he adored Scarlett in every way. Possibility of losing her was killing him.
“It’s fine Leo, come join us baby.” Scarlett held a shaky hand out for Leo who happily accepted it and snuggled into his mother too.
The air of the room was unexplainable, everybody’s eyes had a sad expression when their lips were forced into a smile. They were trying to have a cheerful day just to make Scarlett happy but deep down all of them was crying internally. Especially Sirius, he was very silent. He was blaming himself for what happened to his Scarlett, he has put so much stress and pressure on her because of the fuckery they have been through. He had one job; protect his family and keep it together but he has failed terribly. Sirius shook these thoughts off and turned his attention back to Scarlett. They all took some photos together and talked for hours. Scarlett hasn’t been that happy for a long time, she even ate some food with them. Her happiness calmed everybody down for a bit.
The twins and Sirius have taken couple of days off from work so everybody would stay at the island. Severus was helping them to make the beds in the living room and the guest room, their house wasn’t that big so Ric and Aurelia would stay in the guest room while Sirius and the twins were sharing the living room. While they were on this, Scarlett wanted to talk with Sirius privately. Sirius went back to the bedroom where Scarlett was and sat next to her; silver eyes met with the forest green ones for the first time in a while.
“Siri...”
“Yes kitten.” He smiled softly at her.
“I want you to promise me one thing.”
“What is it?”
“When... when i am gone, please take care of Carina and Leo also yourself. I want to make sure that you all will be just as fine even i am not with you here no more...”
“No no no, don’t say such things. I don’t wanna hear those, Scarlett.” Sirius held her hand tightly and kissed her knuckles. “We will see our kids’ weddings and have grandchildren; we will be the coolest grandparents! Where do you think you are going without doing any of these!?” Sirius joked but his eyes were filled with tears, he was having hard time while trying not to cry.
Scarlett’s lips trembled while the tears were running down on her cheeks. Her heart broke thinking that she won’t be able to see any of these events Sirius just said. “Don’t buy little motorbikes to our grandchildren for their first birthday.” Scarlett joked trying to change the mood.
“Ah damn, i was just thinking that!” Sirius laughed but shortly his laughter turned into sobs. He snuggled into Scarlett who was halfway laying, she wrapped one arm around him while playing with his hair with the other hand. This was the way how Sirius copes with sadness, he would rest his head on either Scarlett’s chest or lap and let her to play with his hair until he was calm again. But this time Scarlett cried with him too, they poured out all the sadness they held inside.
“My lawyer will give keys to each of you when i d... you know; i prepared 4 trunks with the things i want to give you, the twins and Severus. They are in the basement of my house. When the time comes, take them okay...?”
Sirius didn’t answer her question but instead he held onto her even more. Scarlett sighed but knew he would do what she asked him to do. She looked down at Sirius who was laying next to her, head rested on her chest. “I want you to know that, i was so happy with you and i didn’t have any regrets. I think our friendship and marriage were more than just decent, they were perfectly splendid. I loved you very much Sirius Orion Black, i still do.”
Sirius finally looked up at her face, his cheeks were wet from the tears he shed; he sat up slowly. “Scarlett Serafina Rose, i love you more and always will. You are the best thing ever happened to me. I am so so so sorry for all the times i made you sad, none of them were intentional... You are my one and only.” Without a thought, Sirius closed the gap between their faces and pressed his lips into hers. Familiar feeling of 26 years filled them but this kiss was different; it was a farewell kiss and both of them knew it. Their tears mixed into the kiss and Sirius couldn’t take it anymore; he run out of the room crying.
Severus came to their bedroom soon after he saw Sirius run outside. “How are you Scar?” He asked while changing into his pyjamas.
“Good, i guess...?” She had a weird feeling whole day since her loved ones came but she couldn’t understand what; it was like she was cured in a day.
Severus turned off the lights before came to bed, but Scarlett turned on their bedside lights immediately. Severus raised his eyebrows, Scarlett hated to sleep in a lighted room even it was just a tinniest light. She noticed his confusion and explained. “I wanna see you...”
“Why is that love? Did you miss me?” Severus hugged her and kissed her tear-stained cheek.
“I will miss you...”
Severus was about to ask her what she meant but before he could, Scarlett kissed him passionately. This took Severus by surprise; since Scarlett’s illness got worse, the only intimate moments they shared were soft and slow kisses. She slowly pulled away and whispered into his ear. “You are my first, my last and my everything. I will keep your love evermore, Severus. I love you.”
Severus was used to Scarlett’s regular farewell talks by now and he hated them because they just hurt him even more but that felt different. When Scarlett looked into his night-like eyes, he got lost in hers; Severus always loved how big and meaningful her eyes were.
“Tell me you love me...” Scarlett’s whisper brought him back to reality.
“I love you more than anything in the whole wide world Scarlett, you know that. You are my luck.” Severus kissed her one last time. Scarlett rested onto his chest then he started to sing their song “I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You” to put her to sleep while playing with her hair. Her eyes closed slowly and she dived into a peaceful sleep.
The next day a shriek woke everyone up; it was raining cats and dogs with loud thunders. The weather simply reflected everyone’s feelings about today. They were planning to stay couple of days more but they changed the plan and took Scarlett to London with them. London days weren’t any different, they were gloomy and smothery. Severus wanted to turn back to Naxos for Scarlett’s birthday, they have decided on celebrating it there this year and he wanted to make it happen.
Severus was listening to a slow music from the record player and drinking some wine when his eyes caught the window, it was snowing for the first time this year in the island. Severus smiled happily thinking that Scarlett’s usual birthday wish was happening. Since it was midnight and officially her birthday, he ran up to their bedroom to wake her up and let her know about the snow. When he walked into the room, Scarlett was already awake in their bed. She was looking like a snow angel in her white satin sleeping gown, Severus grinned at her while moving the curtains aside.
“Surprise! Just how you wished for your birthday, love.”
“I haven’t wished for snow this year, i have only wished to be able to celebrate it...”
“We can start celebrations right now if you want, it passed midnight. Happy 56 my love!”
Scarlett didn’t respond to him; she was staring at him rather sorrowfully. He leaned against the wall behind him to support himself.
“I am not here, all of this happening in your head Severus...”
Severus shook his head while whispering “no” constantly.
“I died that night in your arms... It was your scream to wake everyone up in the following morning... You all took me to London for my funeral...”
“STOP! Please stop...”
Severus cried out while sliding down on wall to the floor. He buried his face into his palms and cried his heart out. When he calmed down, he kissed Scarlett’s promise ring which he was wearing on his pinkie now.
“I love you Scarlett... We will meet again…”

Don’t miss the Yule Ball
Remus is worrying his next move after how Sirius has cried in his arms, and the ball is approaching. He doesn’t know what to do now.

Chapter 2
If there was anything to stop the girls from giving hopeful stares at Sirius, Remus would have done it. He was stuffing his porridge—not because he wanted to eat it for his breakfast—like he needed to, otherwise the world was going to be on fire. He scanned the girls around the Great Hall, murmuring ‘Sirius Black’, whipping their heads in all of the directions to find their target.
However, the target was sound asleep in his dorm because Remus came down quite earlier since he couldn’t sleep at night after witnessing Sirius’ awful sobbing. He had looked so vulnerable, and hopeless. Remus couldn’t stop himself from playing last night’s memory in his head, and how he had to keep a poker face while his insides were clenching. Sirius’ sobs had been hurting him like a physical pain since the night. He hadn’t known the best way to comfort him, so he had held him in his arms as tight as it was possible.
“Hey Remus!” He started a little to find Lily Evans smiling at him.
“Oh hi, Lils.” He smiled back, “What’s up?”
“Nothing, just thinking about tomorrow.” Her face was dissolving into something unreadable.
“The Yule Ball?” She nodded with a serious look, “You don’t have a date?” And she shook her head.
“Hey, Lils,” Remus squinted to look into her pained emerald eyes, “It’s okay. I also don’t have one. And I think it’s perfect! We can go together! It wouldn’t be weird at all.” He beamed up at her but soon his smile turned into frown because Lily was not at all thrilled with the idea.
“It’s not like I haven’t been asked, you know…” She began to play with her fruit salad.
“Who asked you?”
“James.” She smiled weakly. Remus thought for a second that his ears were deceiving him.
“I’m sorry, what?”
“Thatswhy…” She trailed off with a disappointed look, but he held her by her wrist.
“No, no, no. I just—you mean James? James Potter? My best friend James Potter?”
“No, my uncle James Potter.” She rolled her eyes, “Wait—I thought Sirius was James’ best friend?”
“Oh yeah, whatever. But you mean you want to go with him?”
“Is it really that weird, Remmy?” Remus melted on that look of hers. She so wanted to go with James, and at the same time James was going get lucky. He smiled genuinely at her.
“Lily, it is not at all weird. It’s like the opposite of weird.” Her smile stretched into a real one as she launched herself into his arms.
“God, Remus Lupin, your approval is all I needed. You’ll be the death of me.” They both laughed and held each other tighter.
And then, Remus’ eyes found Sirius walking stiffly to the table, alone. His eyes had bags under them, his hair were disheveled, as he slipped into the seat far away from Remus and Lily’s. Remus felt his stomach twist, and he untangled himself from Lily. She looked skeptically at him. By few eye contacts, he was able to communicate with her that he was worried about Sirius. She knew everything, including the fact he was a werewolf, the fact how he always had a crush on Sirius, and then fell in love with him, and the fact how Marauders fell apart because of the incident with Snape, and also the fact that even after forgiving Sirius, things were not going back to normal.
“Remus, it’s just that you guys stayed away from him for months, and things cannot just slip in the same old times in few days. It will take time.” She whispered to him.
“It’s not just that, Lily. He’s hurting. Like he is sick or something.”
“What do you mean?”
“He stopped in the middle of the crowd when we were heading back to the Tower after dinner. He was breathing hard. He was standing by the support of the railing of the staircase. And then I tried mending things with him, he cried—“ Remus felt like his heart was falling, “—like a lot, Lily.”
“Oh poor Sirius,” She said, eyeing Sirius sitting and staring at his breakfast, “Do you think he was having a panic attack or something?”
“Then why didn’t he tell me? Of all people, huh? He knows that I have a history with panic attacks. I know how to help!” Remus realized he was speaking louder.
“Honey, he already feel indebted after what he—I mean whatever happened between you two, maybe he didn’t want you to feel responsible for this…and you know he doesn’t take pity…”
“He is Sirius Black. He likes attention.” Remus instantly regretted his words.
“You and I, both know that’s only partly true.” Then they fell silent. Remus wanted to stand up and go straight to Sirius to hold him, kiss his head and tell him that everything was going to be okay. They were going to be okay. But then there was this fear, buried in the depth of his heart. He was scared, and the truth was that this fear was tearing them apart.
“Okay,” Lily sighed, looking very concerned, “What do you want?”
“Does that matter?”
“Of course, it matters! He loves you.”
“No, I don’t think so…”
“What!?” She gaped as if she had caught him saying a slur to her, “How can you say that? Sure, he did a mistake but that doesn’t justify the fact that he doesn’t love you anymore. Sirius is not like that!”
“I don’t know…I just I think he is better off without me, I guess? I just don’t want all of this for him. It’s too chaotic. He should move on, and just be my friend.”
“Remus,” She waited until our eyes were locked with each other, “I asked you what you want?”
Remus was out of words, suddenly.
Who said that he didn’t crave Sirius Black? Who said that he didn’t love him? Who said that he didn’t want him? He did. In fact, a lot. He wasn’t sure if he should be wanting him. Truth to be told, he wasn’t sure if he would be able to deal with their fierce relationship all over again.
Sirius was like fire, and Remus was less likely to be water all the time. He had tried shaping himself into one but sometimes it had been hard, because Sirius had been all over him. While they had been dating, Remus had lessened his reading in replacement to spend more time with him—not that he hadn’t enjoyed their time together but it had made him feel rusty. Sirius had always tried to sway him away from his studies. He had had the upper hand in their arguments because Remus had known that Sirius’ anger lasted hardly five minutes and then it dissipated into thin air, so he had always let him say mean things to him, not matter how bitter they had been to him. He’d gulp down everything, but the incident with Snape had not been worth swallowing down. Now that Remus was not with Sirius anymore, there were loads of time for him to study, read, be himself, and yet he was still feeling very useless.
No matter how many reasons Remus could list down to prove the disadvantages of being in relationship with Sirius, the opposite side of the list never failed to outweigh all of those drawbacks, and that was: He was unconditionally in love with him. And despite of everything, he was never going to stop loving him. And he knew that, but feelings also clouded decisions.
“We can only be friends,” He found Lily staring him with a resigned look, “I think I need to go.”
He stood up and walked out of the Great Hall because he felt suffocated. He loosened his tied to breathe properly, “How are you supposed to feel claustrophobic in the Great Hall?” He said under his breath because yes, that was a fun fact about Remus Lupin that he was a claustrophobic. It had taken him ages to get comfortable with physical interaction, and Sirius had been the one who had helped him.
Before he registered where he was walking to, he crashed into someone.
“Oh Merlin, I am sorry!” An unfamiliar female’s voice, “I am so, so sorry! Let me fix that for you.”
Remus didn’t even get the chance to know what needed fixing when his werewolf ears heard her whisper ‘Episkey’—
“OW!” Remus held his nose instinctively, and he found his fingers were soaking with blood.
“Scourgify.” She murmured that too, and his blood was gone. Remus finally focused his vision to find a brunette girl staring at him with big grey eyes—so like Sirius’, her yellow and black tie was there. Hufflepuff. He smiled at her. She had a beautiful smile, but not as dazzling as Sirius’.
“Hi, I’m Catherina Johnson, fifth year.” She held out her hand, and Remus took it.
“Nice to meet you, Catherina. I’m Remus Lupin, sixth year.”
“Oh, I know who you are,“ She smirked at him, “The smart one, and also the one every girl trying to steal for tomorrow.”
“Ha-ha,” Remus didn’t like taking compliments because he didn’t believe in them, “You must be mistaking me with Sirius Black.”
“Oh him, too! But hey Black is never a long-term material. We girls like guys like you, sweet and loyal…”
Remus felt so reminiscent. The girl was reminding him of Sirius. A lot. He huffed out a sarcastic guffaw.
“Looks like bumping into me was not a total coincident, was it?”
“Like I said, the smart one…” Catherina was an attractive girl, and cunning too, and Remus couldn’t say he didn’t her, “So, is that a yes then?” She was smiling, and Remus thought it was for the best.
“Yes, indeed.” He replied back.

The Black Brothers
This is Angsty as fuck. all the warnings, literally, at your own risk. but y’all asked me to post so here you go.
***********************************************************************************
Okay, it’s more of a fic idea rather than a headcanon.
Basically due to the status of the house of black. I’d like to think that the black brothers had their own dorm in Hogwarts, a fully furnished room with two beds for both boys in the Slytherin dungeons.
Sirius was supposed to get sorted into Slytherin and stay in it, and the following year he’d share it with Regulus. But alas, that didn’t happen and Sirius got sorted into Gryffindor, stayed with James, Remus, and peter.
The dorm was left empty till the next year when Regulus joined and got sorted, now only one bed. His own room with no one to bother him, just like back home. Except he wanted Sirius to be there. He couldn’t understand why his brother would abandon him like that.
Sirius understood what Reg must’ve felt like and started to sneak into the Slytherin dorms almost 4 times a week after his and Reg’s classes just to spend time with him.
He Showed up the first day of school after the sorting and found Regulus curled up in bed, crying. Regulus wanted to go home, he didn’t want to be alone. He was destined to spend all his school years in that room in a different house and he hated it. He hated every single second of it.
Sirius promised him that day that he’d always be there, whenever he can. He won’t let Regulus stay there alone. It would be like they’ve never left home minus Walburga.
They would help each other with classes, Sirius sucked at potions, and luckily his brother seems to be an honorary student in it. He would give Reg practical tips and training in DADA and Transfiguration. Talk about Quidditch. Sirius was more than proud when his brother got the seeker position in the Slytherin team. “You’d be playing against us, I’ll tell James to go easy on you.”
They would talk, play, vent, and cry about letters their mother sends (mostly to Sirius). Regulus gets a lot of nightmares. So just like home, he needed Sirius around him.
Sirius spent the nights there, in that room. He rarely slept in his own bed. The rest of the boys would question his absence, he told James and asked to borrow the cloak when he needs it to facilitate sneaking in and out of the dorms at night.
They came out to each other one night during Sirius’ fifth year. Sirius was ranting about Remus, how he drives him insane, etc. When Reg jokingly said,” Are you sure you’re straight, Siri?” that’s when Sirius just looked at him and some sort of realization hit them both. “I’m gay?” “You’re gay!” and they just hugged. Regulus promised no one will ever know about it until Sirius is ready for that step. To offer insurance, he told Sirius that he doesn’t really think that he has feelings or has ever felt anything towards anyone. Both ways.
Sirius told him that he could be Aromantic and that if he is, that’s absolutely fine. It doesn’t mean that he lacks feelings because Regulus feels more than anyone he knew. And that he’s not broken. They just cry a lot that night. Each one with his own demons to battle. But at least they had each other.
Sirius stayed with Regulus 24/7 after the prank incident when everyone in his world seemingly hated him. Reg would read muggle books to him and beat him in chess. And sometimes let him win.
This routine happened during most of their years at Hogwarts, the marauders knew about it. McGonagall and Slughorn also knew but no one dared to argue with the boy.
Regulus was a priority to Sirius and everyone knew it.
Until the summer before the sixth year, when everything fell apart. Sirius ran away. He did it again. He left him. He left him again. He didn’t look back at what he was leaving behind, at who he was leaving behind. Regulus couldn’t get over it. He knew Sirius abandoned him again. He didn’t know how to forgive him. Why didn’t Sirius think about him? Why didn’t he take him with him? He felt like he didn’t really matter to Sirius that much. He chose the Potters, just like he chose Gryffindor all those years ago.
The first time Sirius showed up to his room during the Sixth year, Regulus couldn’t control his anger. He lashed out at him. “We’re not brothers, you’re not a Black. Now, get the fuck out before I call Slughorn” Called him a traitor. Not a blood traitor, he didn’t really care about those values, no, Sirius betrayed him. He broke the promise. He kicked him out. Asked to never have to see him again. Not even in the hallways. Despite all his pleas and apologies, Sirius left that dorm feeling worse than when he was kicked out of the Grimmauld place.
Despite all the anger that Regulus felt, he would never allow anyone to shit-talk his brother. He would straight up pick up fights with anyone calling Sirius a slur. He called Sirius brave for what he did. He didn’t hate on Sirius for leaving that wretched place and having different values. He looked up to him and he wanted to go with him. He can’t now, he was alone, with them, and a very dark future ahead of him.
Sirius never left though. Because he knew Regulus wasn’t okay, he wasn’t okay either. His friends were being great but he missed his brother.
Sirius borrowed the cloak every night, sneaked out in the middle of the night. He just hid under the cloak and sat on the floor next to Reg’s bed, for hours. He needed his presence. Just to be there. He cried a lot because he could hear Regulus having nightmares and he couldn’t do anything. He’d just kick him out again.
Regulus figured out what was happening later on, in Sirius’ seventh year. He never minded. He was awake. Sirius was awake. Each one just being silent. They just stayed there. No one talked. Sirius being under the cloak. And Regulus on the bed lying on his back.
It was Reg’s last year. Sirius wasn’t there. He left Hogwarts. Joined the resistance. He’s fighting for the good side. Regulus wanted to go to. He wanted to be part of the Order too. He stayed in that room, reading the letter his mother had sent him. He would be taking the dark mark. Nothing twisted his heart like that letter. He didn’t know what to do. He wanted to write to Sirius. He wanted him to tell him it’s going to be alright. But he knew it won’t.
Nothing will be alright. There is no turning back. He’ll be one of them and he’d be hated. Sirius would be ashamed of him.
He took it, he let the dark lord mark him, with his family around, celebrating him. Like he’s some kind of a hero. He wasn’t. He was the lowest of the low. He would look up to the sky and watch that certain star. “Please, help me” he would whisper. But he was never answered.
Regulus was writing the note. He knew was he was about to do. It was death. But he didn’t care. He believed anything would be better. He can’t live with himself. He wanted to burn it off, cut his damn arm. But then he would know and it won’t end well.
He figured since he’d either die this way or another. He would go trying to do something good. Just one step closer to the fall of the dark lord. He drank the potion with one person in mind. And was dragged in the water with one last thought. “I hope you’re proud of me.”

Rewrite The Stars IV
Tumblr media
“Thank you for helping me with Alchemy last night.”
It was a Saturday morning. A much needed break from all the mounting homework the students of Hogwarts had been put through.
Y/N, Remus, Sirius and Peter were sitting in the great hall eating breakfast when Remus was left speechless at the claim made at him.
He raised a suspicious brow to his soulmate and thought back to the events of last night.
He had talked to her till midnight before retiring to his bed while James and Sirius had been awake till early hours of the morning. Sirius had slept at two but James was awake till around three in the morning. Nobody knows how Sirius is still chipper after getting barely four hours of sleep while James was still in the Gryffindor dormitory sleeping off his tiredness after his late night adventures.
“I really appreciate you staying awake just to help me with the fucking  gold spell.”, Y/N said with an exhausted strain in her voice which she tried to drown out by tilting her head back to finish the last bits of her morning coffee.
Sirius watched the interaction with great curiosity while Peter slept with his head on the table. There’s no concept like enough sleep for that boy.
“…I don’t take Alchemy. I opted out of it at the start of the year.”, Remus said cautiously as he could suspect something was wrong.
Sirius’s eyes widened.
“That can’t be possible. You helped me last night with the gold spell. You helped me. We were talking through our thoughts. You helped me complete the Alchemy homework.” Y/N’s voice grew more confused and loud with every word.
This can’t be happening. Her soulmate had stayed up with late at night till three in the morning helping her with Alchemy. And he seemed quite brilliant at the subject.
“Holy Shit…”, Sirius exclaimed with widened eyes and an even wider open mouth.
Remus looked over at Sirius with horror. Sirius’s head whipped frantically from side to side looking at both their expressions. Y/N looked like she hadn’t quite comprehended what this means and was still trying to process. Remus looked absolutely devastated. He looked like he was on the verge of crying with tears pooling at the corner of his eyes.
It’s like the whole Great Hall grew silent while the chatters and the occasional laugh still drifted through the room. Remus and Y/N were completely silent while all the noises; thud of footsteps, the constantly growing chatter around them, clanking of spoons and forks on plates, slurping of tea and coffee, even the mere sound of gulping, the sound of everyone happy became too overbearing as they came to terms with their sudden realization.
They were not soulmates.
Remus started sweating as he couldn’t sit between the continuous commotion and felt claustrophobic with the crowds around him. His breaths came out quick and heavy as he processed the thought in his mind and his throat closed up. Everything was becoming too hot around him and he couldn’t breathe.
Y/N, in complete contrast, had lost all sense of warmth from the happy and bright sunshine and lazy hue that entered the Great Hall through the big windows on either sides of the room. She felt goose bumps run up her arms and couldn’t help but shiver at the sudden emptiness. It was like she had been hollowed out in a few mere seconds. Her throat too closed up but she didn’t care right now to breathe. If you don’t watch closely at her every slight movement, you could see she was barely breathing.
Her eyes refused to blink while Remus’s blinked rapidly trying to make sense of the abrupt halt in his life.
Both their wrist’s tingled.
Remus’s jerked his head to look at the thoughts of his soulmate hoping against hope that it wasn’t true, hoping that his wrist hadn’t displayed in thick black cursive, just the words ‘Good Morning.’
Y/N still couldn’t muster up the courage to look at her wrist, afraid of what she might find.
Sirius quickly glanced at her wrist to find a stick figure of a tall boy high in the clouds on his latest model of broomstick.
Figures only appeared to show what the soulmate was dreaming of while asleep.
“I need to go.” Y/N simply said with her voice barely above a whisper. She quickly scrambled awkwardly to get up and swiftly made her way out of the room.
Tear pooled at the corner of her eyes as she took a quick glance at Remus and left without another word.  She had just started to calm down when her wrist tingled again. She couldn’t bear to look at it now. All those thoughts, all those late night talks which she treasured like an unspoken secret, all the love and warmth she felt from Remus and all the smiles his absurd but intelligent thoughts brought to her lips, had all been someone else’s.
She should’ve known. Remus wasn’t ever interested in Quidditch the least bit. He wasn’t always thinking of crazy pranks to pull up on Professor Flitwick. He wasn’t ever the cheesiest person to exist, showing her dreams of running away together and thinking way far into the future.
Remus’s love was more warm and calm and soothing. Her soulmate’s was anything but.
Her soulmate’s love was probably the most chaotic, cheesiest, dramatic, arrogant and obnoxious. Her soulmate’s love was crazy and she reveled in the insanity.
She ran all the way to the courtyard where it had started raining. Of course it would start raining. Her life hasn’t been anything but cliché ever since she came back to school this year.
She wanted her soulmate. She wanted all of him. All the crazy thoughts brewing in his mastermind, all his quirks which she were sure he has, all the cheesy pick-up lines he used on her, all the promises he made her, all the flaws she had noticed he has, all the arrogance which reflected on her wrist when he thought about how good he looked in the mirror at early morning, all the early morning thoughts because she knew her soulmate was an early riser, all the late nights because she knew he was also a night owl.
She wanted to be there with him when he ate potato crisps that he had snuck from the kitchen under his blanket from one of his late night ventures. She wanted to be there with him and for him when he was constantly worried about his friends like he was mother. She wanted to be there with him when he got all excited from getting all O’s in his exams. She wanted to be there with him when he got all pouty and sad because he had no cuddle buddy and his friends refused to cuddle with him.
She wanted to be there with him.
But now she was back to square one.
She laid down on the grass completely drenched from the rain and closed her eyes as she let herself feel the rain drops calm her down and mix with her tears. She lay completely still, in the middle of the courtyard and thought of all she could’ve had with Remus but fate had pulled her golden strings.
James Potter was walking groggily to the Great Hall before he missed breakfast. He had slept in after helping his soulmate with Alchemy till three in the morning.
A smile came on to his face as he thought of how awkward she had been with him the whole night but immediately turned into a complete ray of sunshine when at exactly two minutes past three, she had finally mastered the gold spell.
He was walking past the courtyard but then he saw a figure lying unmoving in the middle of the grass. He pushed his crooked glasses up his nose and focused on the figure trying to figure out why a person would be lying outside on grass unmoving while it was raining and they could get sick.
Are they hurt? Are they dead?!
With not a second thought about him getting drenched, he rushed towards the figure and immediately sank to his knees besides them. It was Y/N. He looked around reluctantly as if the air around him would tell him why Y/N L/N was lying unmoving in the rain.
Gulping down his animosity, he erratically rattled her shoulders and pulled her head on to his lap while trying to wake her up.
Y/N immediately sat up and looked around frantically before her eyes landed on James.
“What the fuck?! What did you do that for?” She shrugged his hands of her shoulders and stared wide eyed at him.
“Don’t ‘What the fuck’ me. What the fuck were you doing lying in the rain? i thought you were hurt. I thought you were dead!” He shouted at her still trying to wrap his mind around what just happened.
He was completely drenched by now and the thin white shirt he was wearing didn’t help much in hiding his well-built physique. Years of Quidditch had done him good and puberty had been very kind on him.
Then it registered to her that she was talking to James Potter and a whole new wave of emotions came over her because she remembered that he was Remus’s best friend.
A fresh set of tears rolled down her cheeks at the mere thought of Remus and James could see that the sudden redness that took over eyes and the water running down her cheeks was not because of the rain.
His eyes met hers reluctantly because James doesn’t know how to deal with his emotions much rather anyone else’s. Certainly not someone’s who despised him and he despised back.
“A-Are you okay…? Do you need me to get Remus?” That certainly didn’t help the girl in front of him in anyway as a sob escaped her lips.
“No…,” she whimpered and cried harder.
James panicked.
“Okay! Okay…no Moony. No Remus. We don’t want Remus. That’s completely alright! Just please stop crying.” He rambled on to try to make her calm down as he wrapped his arm around her shoulders hesitantly to keep both of them warm but also a little because he wanted to comfort her in any way he can.
Both of them were completely drenched but none of them cared.
One was a sobbing mess as she just wanted the rain to wash away all her sorrows and pain. Such excruciating pain.
The other had nothing in his mind other than the need to comfort her. He didn’t know why he was there basically drowning in the rain and quite probably catching a cold for a girl he had hated for so long. He just couldn’t bear to see her cry. It hurt him to see this strong, always happy, always challenging, complete ray of sunshine girl look so broken, so small. So he didn’t care if he was completely drenched, he didn’t care if he was going to be sick for a week after this, he didn’t care that the breakfast he was rushing to had already ended, and he didn’t care she hated him and he hated her. Because she was crying and broken in his arms and she needs him and damn it all if he wasn’t going to be there for her.
James was still awkwardly holding her when the rain had slowed to a quite drizzle as the tears on her cheeks dried and the sobs turned into whimpers.  He hesitantly looked into her swollen bloodshot eyes and carefully asked her, “How’re we feeling now?” She replied with a broken and twisted forced smile. “I’m alright now. I’m sorry for being so dramatic. I was just really stressed.” She gave him a half smile while his face turned into a comforting wide grin.
“You call this stressed? You call this dramatic? Here’s a fun fact; Octopuses eat themselves when they’re stressed. They just go complete cannibal on themselves. Now that’s dramatic. Sirius not letting us touch his hair because and I quote, ‘Your filthy hands don’t deserve me and my hair’. That’s dramatic. This? This is just a good ole cry. Letting out frustrations. Don’t worry about it. Happens to all of us.” James was trying to make her laugh because that’s all he wanted to see in her eyes and on her lips right now. But she just stared at him with a blank face.
“Who told you that?” she whispered.
“Well, Sirius reminds us on a daily basis. Never stops really. We once touched his hair while he was asleep and he-“
“No, the octopus fact. Who told you that?”
“Oh. Um, my soulmate. She’s always telling me these random animal and magical creature facts. Like how lobsters can live forever. How crazy and easy it is to breed a basilisk even though it’s illegal. She even dreams of them. She once had a dream she was riding through a forest on a unicorn while being chased by a giant. She told me once that she wants to be a magizoologist. I just know she’s going to be wonderful, whenever I meet her.” A smile adorned his lips as he talked lovingly about his soulmate.
He talked about her like she was the most precious thing in the whole universe. And to him, she was.
While on the other hand, Y/N’s world was crashing down around her and she stared at him talk about his soulmate perplexed.
The thing was that she already knew that octopuses eat themselves when they get stressed.  It was not that long ago she had found that out and had excitedly told her soulmate. She had told her soulmate about how lobsters can live forever. She had told her soulmate how to breed a basilisk. She had dreamed just a few days ago of riding a unicorn while being chased by a giant. She had told her soulmate she wanted to be a magizoologist.
It was just a coincidence, right?
She suddenly became really aware of how she was still sitting between James’s arms. How his fingers were unconsciously drawing doodles on her back. How close her face was to his.
She abruptly pushed herself out of his arms. He gave her a confused look before realizing the compromising position they had been in just mere second ago. His whole face lit up red like a lantern.
All of it was too much for Y/N to handle. And she could certainly not wrap her head around her thoughts of the sudden realization when James was looking so adorable with his flaming cheeks, ears and neck.
So, she did the only thing she could possibly do right now.
She ran.
She ran out of the courtyard and out of his sight without another word or even a glance, leaving him sitting by himself on the grass in the middle of the courtyard.
His gaze followed her until she was out of sight.
“A thank you would’ve been nice,” James grumbled to himself as he stood up.
“Thank you James for being there for me and sorry for making you completely wet and missing your breakfast.” He said to himself in a high pitched girly voice before realizing his words and blushing again.
“Merlin help Moony.”

Regulus stood hunched over the basin. The green glow of the remaining potion acting as a cruel reminder of what remaining torture he has to go through. Kreacher stood in front of him with a goblet in his hands. Regulus nodded and gulped down the potion, feeling the burning sensation as it went down.
He’s only had a few sips and so far, have only felt like his insides were on fire. As uncomfortable and painful it was, he forced himself to take more until his surroundings seemed to change.
(Y/N)?” He rasped as his vision started to focus on the figure sprawled out in front of him. When his vision finally focused, that was when he started screaming and scrambled to get up. Kreacher quickly dropped the goblet back into the basin and went to hold back his master who was mumbling stuff under his breath.
“Master Black, you must drink the potion.”
“(Y/N)! She’s there! Kreacher let go of me, she’s going to die!”
“Master Black, (Y/N) isn’t there. You must drink the potion.”
By this point Kreacher had to force the boy to take the potion and he hated every single second of it. Hearing his Master’s cries and protests to save someone who wasn’t there. Kreacher only hoped that they’d be out of here soon.
Taking more of the potion only made the visions worse. He kept seeing you, then Sirius, then the both of you laying in front of him. The two of you, dead before him just before the vision changed again. This time, Regulus recognized it as a memory. It was the first time he had gotten into a fight with you.
“I just don’t see why you’re so worked up on this (Y/N). I’ll be fine, just because my family supports him doesn’t mean I’ll become a Death Eater.” Regulus said, his tone laced with annoyance as he lied straight to your face.
“Than run away with me, it’ll be worth it. I promise. You won’t have to worry about Voldemort or your family. It’ll only be us. Just say the word, take my hand and we’ll go.” You pleaded desperately
It hurt him to see you so stressed over him and it hurt even more that he was lying to you. He was already branded with the Dark Mark but he just didn’t know how to tell you. He didn’t even know if he wanted to tell you.
“No, (Y/N), I can’t. He’ll find us, find me somehow. That will only put us into more danger.” Again, lies spilled out from his mouth.
Regulus now wondered if he had taken your hand, would have things turned out differently.
When the potion was finally gone, Kreacher quickly grabbed the locket and switched it for the one Regulus had brought that contained the letter.
“Water. I need water.” Regulus mumbled, looking around the cave before crawling towards the dark lake surrounding the island they were standing on.
“Master Black no!” Kreacher protested but it was too late.
Immediately after Regulus and cupped his hands into the water to bring some to his lips, white ghastly hands had started to crawl out from the water. Several of them from all sides of the island. It was as if they were waiting for him.
By the time Kreacher made it to Regulus’ side, the inferi were already dragging him towards the water and they both knew that there was nothing that could be done. Before he was pulled under the water, he gave Kreacher one last order, fighting to stay above the water for even just a few more seconds.
“Go! Don’t tell my family anything, and give the letter to (Y/N). Protect her at all cost and destroy the locket”
The House elf nodded and with a guilty expression, appeared out of the cave and back to 12 Grimmauld Place. The sounds of his Master’s screams and cries echoing in his head as he appeared into the home that felt colder than usual. He quickly called for his master’s owl and gave it the letter. “To Hogwarts, to Miss (Y/N) (Y/L/N).”
---
Mail at Hogwarts was usually delivered during breakfast unless it was considered urgent, then it’d be delivered straight to the recipient’s dorm.
You were sitting on the edge of your one of your dorm-mates bed when a pecking noise was heard from outside the window. It was one of your other dorm-mates who decided to open the window after you waved it off as a tree branch on the window.
“It’s not a branch (Y/N),why would there be a branch here? Anyways, it’s a letter for you.” They said as they handed you the letter.
The second you grabbed it from her hand your brows raised as you recognized the Black family crest stamped in the middle of it, sealing the envelope shut. “Regulus?” you mumbled as you got up to go sit on your own bed.
For the past month you noticed that he was acting differently and just a week ago he apparently left school. You just assumed that his parents needed him home for some urgent business and that was why he didn’t tell you anything. He was a busy boy after all.
Breaking the seal on the envelope you took out the piece of parchment which was written in black ink. Your heart swells as you read what was written in it.
My little dove,
If you’re reading this then it means that I have been killed. I’m sorry I’ve kept you in the dark about this but I found out something about Voldemort. He’s created this thing called a Horcrux. He’s not human, not anymore. For the past month I’ve been trying to figure out where to find it and possibly destroy it. I know that you’d probably scold me for doing a suicide mission but that’s now why I haven’t told you anything. It’s because I know you’d join me and do anything and everything so that I could live but I can’t let that happen. I’m ashamed to be a part of this family and shamed to have waited so long before finally realizing how horrible it actually is.
There isn’t much time. I’m writing this the night before I go to the cave with Kreacher. Hopefully he is able to destroy the Horcrux and he’ll be mortal once again.
Also, another thing. Please don’t tell my family anything or anyone in general, especially Sirius. If they ask about me just say you don’t know. Sirius would go out of his way to try and kill him and as much as I miss him, he’s safer with the Potters. Or at least I hope.
I love you (Y/N), I always have and always will. Not even death can stop me, I promise.
Yours forever,  Regulus Arcturus Black.
P.S.
Please don’t rush to see me again. We will meet again when your time comes but for now, your time is far from near. Don’t rush it darling, it’s not a race to the end. I love you forever.
You didn’t notice the tears that fell from your eyes until one landed on the letter you were now gripping tightly. Your dorm-mates had paused their conversation and were now at the edge of your bed looking at you with worried expressions.
“What’s wrong?” One of them asked.
“N-nothing.” You lied.
They either believed it or knew better than to pressure you into saying anything. They simply just nodded and quickly left the dorm to give you your space which you silently thanked them for. When the door closed behind them you fell back onto the bed, your head buried into your pillow as your sobs filled the room. The letter clutched tightly in your arms until you had fallen asleep.
When you woke up the next morning you immediately sat up to make sure that no one had taken the letter and read it. You sighed in relief when it was still in your hands and hid it before getting ready for the day. Getting ready as if you hadn’t just found out that the love of your life was killed the day before. No one could find out.
You were thankful that there was only a week left before the Christmas holidays. Though you had plans to meet with Regulus over the break, you would now be spending them grieving a boy that no one but you and Kreacher knew had passed.  You only hoped that the week would end quickly.
---
Kreacher greeted you at the door. 12 Grimmauld Place felt colder and lonelier than ever as you stepped inside.
The House Elf led you to the Drawing Room where a yellow locket rested on a table. You looked back at Kreacher who nodded, already knowing what you were going to ask.
“So this was the Dark Lord’s Horcrux, Salazar Slytherin’s locket.” You thought to yourself as you picked it up to examine it.
“Kreacher has not been able to destroy it.” The old House Elf croaked.
“And why would Kreacher do such a thing?” A voice said suddenly from behind the two of you. You instinctively grabbed your wand, ready to defend yourself and Kreacher but as you turned around two spells were shot towards you. The locket along with your wand dropped to the ground and a third spell was aimed at your chest, causing you to stumble and fall onto your back.
Kreacher tried to intervene but with a wave of their wand, the attacker who you have yet to get a clear look at, sent the House Elf flying into the closest wall. By the time he was on his feet, the attacker was standing by your side and harshly grabbed your shoulder before apparating out of the house. Kreacher stood there for a moment, taking in the fact that he had failed his Master not just once but twice.
“My Lord, this is the girl.” Your attacker said, they bowed at the tall dark figure who stood before them and that was when you finally recognized who it was. Bellatrix Lestrange, Regulus’s cousin who was an extremely loyal Death Eater to the Dark Lord. It was said that she was even obsessed with him and you wondered how twisted someone must be to be obsessed with a man like him.
“And where is the locket?” The figure, who you assumed was the Dark Lord, asked. His voice was calm which surprised you. You expected him to sound colder, cruel even.
“I-I didn’t see it.” Was Bellatrix’s reply which caused the Dark Lord to finally turn around.
“Well then, why don’t we ask our guest then.” He suggested as he slowly stepped closer towards you. Crouching down in front of you, he placed two fingers under your chin and lifted your head up so that you were looking him in the eye.
You were once told that the Dark Lord was actually an attractive young man while studying at Hogwarts. Many girls fawned over him but he paid them no mind. He seemed to have his own gang of ‘friends’ who ended up to be his very first Death Eaters. No one would have thought that the he would have rose to power at such an early age. Over the years, as he started to become a dark wizard was when his features started to look less human but they were subtle. From a glance you would have assumed that he was just another wizard but upon closer inspection you noticed the subtle snake-like features.
“Now, have you seen a yellow locket? More specifically, one that shouldn’t have been touched from the start.”He asked you calmly, a wicked smirk on his lips as he watched you try to appear calm.
“No.” You lied through gritted teeth.
His smirk seemed to grow as he let go from your chin. “Liar!” He seethed as he stood up straight.
He turned to Bellatrix who stood behind you and you felt your heart drop to your stomach when you heard him say, “Bella, do as you please.”
The sounds of his footsteps retreating echoed through the dimly lit room and when the door behind him closed shut you prayed, prayed for some sort of God or deity to spare you from what you knew was going to come.
“Looks like we are going to have some fun.” She said in a sickly sweet tone before grabbing her wand and pulling you up by your shoulder.
It felt like hours had gone by as you laid on the cold ground, not you minded. You liked the cold ground. It was better than Bellatrix’s wand burning into your skin or the cruciatus curse that felt like white-hot knives piercing your skin.
Just when you had thought it was over, the pain filled your body again. Your bones felt like they were on fire and you tried to bite back a scream. Bellatrix only giggled, seeming to love the pain she was inflicting as she rasped her wand and pointed it at you again.
“Please.” You had managed to say. Due to the hours of torture you had just gone through you were surprised you had enough strength to even speak.
Bellatrix lowered her wand, her eyes no longer bearing that maniac look that often filled her eyes as her expression looked more sympathetic. At this point you were far too weak to even try and figure out if this was all an act or not. A part of you told you to not get your hopes up but on the verge of death, your hopes were already far too high.
She crouched down and leaned towards your ear, her signature smirk returning to her face as she whispered, “You should’ve told him where it was.” before one last spell shot out form her wand.
“Avada Kedavra.”
Your body fell limp and during the last second before death greeted you, a small smile appeared on your lips as your last thoughts were of finally reuniting with Regulus. Then quicker than ever, darkness flooded your vision and you welcomed it.
---
When you opened your eyes again it was no longer darkness that flooded your vision but bright white light. Once your vision adjusted you noticed you were at Kings Cross Station except it was entirely white. Even the clothes you wore were all white. Was this the afterlife?
“He’s waiting for you.” A familiar voice said and you turned around to see your grandmother. You didn’t hesitate for a second as you ran towards her to hug her, a chuckle escaping her lips as she hugged you back. You had lost her the summer before you started Hogwarts and it pained you to not be able to tell her what you experienced there. You knew she would’ve loved to hear what you had to say but maybe now, 6 years later, you could finally tell her.
“As much as I’d love to hear about your years at Hogwarts, I have to wait for someone else.” Your grandmother said as if she had read your mind.
“Mom...”
“Yes my child, though worry not, it is not her time yet.”
Silence draped itself onto the two of you as you realized that your parents had no idea that you had died. You simply told them that you were going to a friend’s house and that you’d be back for dinner but now that wouldn’t be happening.
“They’ll be fine, don’t worry about them. What you should be worrying about is keeping him waiting.” Your grandmother said and you looked at her with a confused expression.
“He?” You asked, not sure who she could have been referring to. She simply smiled and then it clicked in your head. Regulus.
“Take the train down three stops, get off and wait until the train is gone before getting off the platform. He’ll be there waiting for you.” With one last hug, you left your grandmother and hopped onto the train that arrived a few minutes after. You followed her instructions, getting off at the third stop and waiting until the train was fully gone before getting off of the platform.
Getting off of the platform, you were relieved to see that everything wasn’t all white but instead, was the countryside with farm animals and a small cottage. There was a feeling inside you that wanted for you to go towards the cottage.
“I’m already dead so what’s the worst that could happen?” You thought to yourself before heading towards the cottage.
The closer you got the more nostalgic you felt though you couldn’t figure out how. By the time you were standing on the front door step, you could’ve sworn that you’ve seen the cottage somewhere before.
Before you could even knock, the door swung open and a head of black curly hair immediately pulled you into their embrace. You stood there unsure of what was happening until the familiar scent of the boy you loved filled your senses.
“Regulus...” You said softly, as if trying to confirm whether it was really him or not that was hugging you so tightly.
He pulled away, hands no longer holding you close to him but now cupping your face. Tears filled both your eyes though neither of you knew who started crying first.
“You’re such an idiot.” He tried joking as he buried your face in his chest. He held you close, pressing kisses into your hair as tears streamed down both your faces.
“I love you.” You said, lifting you head up from his chest to look into his eyes that you were starting to miss. You were happy to see that they didn’t look so dull anymore.
“I love you more. But that doesn’t mean you’re not an idiot. I told you to take your time which meant not to go and try to destroy the Horcrux. I even told Kreacher to protect you but clearly-” Pulling his face closer to yours so that you could kiss him caused his lecture to abruptly stop as he melted into the kiss.
The moment lasted for a while but ended far too quickly in your opinion as Regulus pulled away and started to lecture you again causing you to roll your eyes.
“You can lecture me all you want but could you at least tell me why we’re here?” You stopped him mid-lecture, pointing to the area surrounding you. For some reason it felt like home.
“This was the life you wanted when you asked me to run away with you,” He replied with a smile that quickly dropped, “I’m sorry for not taking your hand that night. Life would’ve been different, maybe even better if I had but I was scared. I’m so sorry.”
You flashed him a soft smile, pulling his face closer to yours so that you could press a kiss to his check. A blush bloomed on his cheeks and though he tried to hide it, he knew it was no use and just gave up.
The two of you stood there for a while. Not a word being scad but instead, a comforting silence as you both took in each-others appearance. It’s been a while since either of you have been able to feel this peaceful.
“So this is the other side?” You asked breaking the silence.
“I think so yeah. Why? You don’t like it?” The smile on his face turned into a worried expression as he looked at you. His reaction caused you to laugh. Ignoring his questioning look, you placed your hand into his and leaned your head against his shoulder.
“No no, I like it though I don’t really care where we are.”
“And why is that?”
“Because I have you with me.” You replied, looking up at him with a smile which he mirrored.
“You’re such a sap.” He teased.
“But you still love me.”
“And I always will.”

Saving Seats and Sugar Quills
Some TLAT!Jily fluff from after they get together because I’m currently writing angsty scenes and this is what’s getting me through. Also, because it’s been seven years and We Deserve This.
Inspired by this scene:
Tumblr media
On the first Friday of her relationship with James Potter (because that was how she measured time now, apparently. Merlin and Agrippa.) Lily Evans ate breakfast with Sirius, Mary and Pete. James, Donna, and Marlene were at Quidditch practice, and Remus was busy tutoring… someone, though Sirius was too busy shuddering theatrically to explain who.
It was the first meal in six days that she’d eaten without James. She ached like she was missing a limb.
Agrippa.
They finished breakfast quickly and got to Charms early as a result. By unspoken mutual agreement, the four Gryffindors spread across an empty row of five desks, Pete next to Sirius next to open seat for James next to Lily next to Mary. They continued their debate about last night’s Harpies victory against the Cannons (a well-deserved clobbering, said Mary and Sirius; a disgraceful mockery of refereemanship, said Lily and Pete) across the gap.
Their conversation was prematurely interrupted, however, when Roger Diggory appeared and slid into the empty middle seat.
Lily blinked. “Sorry, we were actually saving…”
Roger did not seem to hear her. “So glad I snagged you! These silent Invisibility charms are kicking my arse. You’re going to save my life today, Lily.”
“But…” Lily tried to catch Sirius’s eye—surely telling people where they could and couldn’t sit was much more up his alley than hers?—but he just raised his eyebrows in amusement and turned to chat with Pete.
Of course. Because it was class. In five minutes they wouldn’t be able to talk to each other anyway, so it didn’t matter where they sat…it was pathetic that she was going to miss him.
Realizing she was being horribly rude to Roger, Lily forced a smile and nodded. “Sure, I’d be happy to partner up. The trick to Invisibility charms is just…”
The door opened behind them and Lily’s head whipped around immediately, train of thought stopped in its tracks.
James Potter strode through the door, bag hanging off one shoulder, tie off-kilter, hair wet from a shower and even messier than usual. Lily melted.
Her boyfriend scanned the room, then made a beeline for her the moment their eyes met. When he reached her desk he leaned down, seized her face in his hands, and kissed her hard. Lily’s eyes fluttered closed as their mouths moved together, and her lips seemed to read words from his: Missed you. Want you. Need you, Snaps.
It no longer seemed absurd that she should miss him from across a classroom. Suddenly it was ridiculous to imagine she could do anything else. When his tongue brushed across her bottom lip and she had to hold in a sigh, Lily broke away, flushing much too deeply for 9am Charms.
“Hi,” James murmured, and Lily smiled.
“Hi.” She bent to reach into her satchel and produced a brown paper bag. “Breakfast?”
James groaned aloud, then sat down on her desk. He swung to plant his feet on the edges of Lily’s seat, trapping her between his legs and nudging her thighs with his toes. “I knew you fancied me.”
“Eh. I’m really just in it for your body.” She kissed his knee softly, and he grinned and tucked a lock of red hair behind her ear.
“That excuse would work better if you weren’t fattening me up, Snaps.”
“With this?” She shook the bag. “Cottage cheese and vegan bacon, Love. Why, what were you expecting?”
“Ha.” James pulled the bag from her grip and ripped it open, then groaned with pleasure when the scents of kippers, biscuits, marmalade, and (mercifully non-vegan) bacon hit his nose. He tilted her chin up with two fingers and kissed her again. “You’re God’s gift to mankind.”
Lily smiled. “You don’t believe in God.”
“I believe in kippers.”
“Do you believe in sharing kippers?” Lily reached for the bag, but James caught her hand and trapped it against his thigh.
“Not when you were luxuriously eating breakfast while I ran kipper-less sprints!”
“Not with me, Git. Two of my best mates were out there running kipper-less sprints with you. Because of you.”
“But Shack and Price are small and dainty. I’m a growing boy.”
Lily laughed. “I’m telling Donna you called her small and dainty,” she threatened, and James blanched.
“My body won’t be as fun in multiple pieces.”
“Well, now, that depends on the pieces.”
James swallowed hard. Lily blinked innocently up at her boyfriend, blushing just a little. The effort of hiding her smirk made her cheeks hollow out, auburn eyelashes fluttering as she looked up at him from practically between his legs…
James shook himself. He pulled his legs off her seat and stood up, looking, a little wildly, for something else to focus on. His eyes landed on Flatface.
He rapped on Diggory’s desk with his knuckles. “Oi. Out of my seat.”
“James!” Lily blushed furiously. “Roger, he’s kidding.” Diggory, who had immediately started to pack up his stuff at the Quidditch Captain’s command, paused and looked between them.
“He isn’t,” said James. “Move.”
“I got here first,” said Diggory, emboldened by Lily’s defense. “Find another spot.”
“Where?” James inquired. “’Cause I’d sit with your girlfriend, but I heard Alexa Kyle chucked you for my best mate. Who, incidentally, is to your left, in case you’re still confused about what makes this my seat.”
Diggory’s ears turned red, and Lily glared at her boyfriend. “Ignore him, Roger.”
James shrugged. “Sure, ignore me. I hear the Toadies are overrated anyway…”
“Git!” Lily cried, but Diggory stood up and shuffled away, tail between his legs.
“I love Hufflepuffs.” James slid into the seat Diggory had vacated and grabbed Lily’s desk, yanking it a foot closer to his so he could rest his arm on the back of her chair. She crossed her arms over her chest, but she was not, he noted, annoyed enough to scoot away again.
“You’re never doing that again,” she told him firmly.
“Course not,” he agreed, grinning. “Flatface learned his lesson.”
“To anyone! So mean. You’re Head Boy, not emperor…”
“Snaps, he knew he was taking my seat…” James grabbed her elbow with his free hand, thumb stroking the soft skin.
“Because he needed my help with silent Invisibility Charms!” Lily swatted at his hand, or meant to, but somehow their fingers ended up interlocked.
“I could need your help with silent Invisibility Charms.”
Lily rolled her eyes. “Step One: take out cloak. Step Two: put on cloak. Step Three: give Roger his seat back.”
James laughed, and Lily wished she loved the sound just a little less. He settled into a very self-satisfied crooked grin, and the hand on the back of her chair lifted to rub the place where her neck met her shoulder. His thumb dug into the base of her neck, finding a knot and working it out.
Lily’s head rolled back, eyelids fluttering, and she couldn’t hide a tiny little moan that immediately reminded James of last night. “Still want me to leave?” he murmured.
Lily bit her lip, trying to muster the last of her willpower, then sighed and slumped into his arm. “I might as well get ‘Property of James Potter’ stamped across the front of my robes.”
“Would you? That’s so hot…”
“Git.” Lily grabbed his tie and tugged him in for a kiss. “I missed you.”
“Mmm…” He hummed against her lips, one hand finding her thigh and the other tangling in her hair. “Quidditch is stupid. Quitting tomorrow. Shack can be captain…”
“She’d be a significant improvement in the generosity of spirit department,” said Sirius loudly, and both Head students whipped around to see him watching them with a very self-satisfied smirk.
“Have you been staring at us this whole time?” James asked. His best mate’s smirk widened.
“Oh God, you wanted James to kick Roger out,” Lily realized. “That’s why you let him sit there, you weirdo…”
Sirius grinned. “This,” he declared, indicating both of them with a regal wave, “Is seventy-five percent my doing. Am I not entitled to enjoy the fruits of my labour?”
The Head Students shot him identical glares, but Sirius just smirked and took a bite of a Sugar Quill. Lily sighed and reached a hand across James’s desk, palm up. “You could at least share your candy with the zoo animals.”
Flitwick clapped tiny hands together to summon their attention, so Lily never did find out what had made both boys smile.

A/n: Sorry this took so long to come out! I hope you like it!
Tumblr media
You had never considered yourself a vengeful person. In fact you found yourself quite the opposite. You had always been kind, kind to those who were kind to you and kind to those who weren’t. You had never insulted someone back or got someone in trouble on purpose, you had helped with some pranks, but nothing too harsh, you never, ever helped pull one on Snape, no matter how many names he called you or dirty tricks he pulled. You knew he was only doing because of your boyfriend anyway.
Yes you the sweetheart of hogwarts was dating the Sirius Black. You weren't quite sure how it happened, it was like you were suddenly submerged in a pool of minty breath, leather jackets and musky cologne. And you loved it. By age 14 you were madly in love with him, but unlike every other girl in hogwarts Sirius actually began to return your feelings. Not to say he admitted it right away, hell it took Sirius two years of denial and eleven months of fear before he finally asked you out. You had accepted, but not without hesitation, he had after all been rumored to have slept with half the school.
Surprisingly to everyone, even the gryffindor's best friends, Sirius had stayed completely and utterly loyal. He barely even looked at other girls, becoming oblivious to the flirtatious attempts they threw at him.
Sirius became the best boyfriend you could ask for. He did everything for you. He would buy you gifts that were far too expensive, showering you affection, help you with anything and everything, for the first time in his life he truly felt love and he wouldn't have given it away for anything, let alone risk it with his own mistakes.
It was no surprise to anyone when you moved in together after Hogwarts, your parents complained about it being too early but you managed to keep them docile. You also joined the Order of the Phoenix and was the maid of honor at James and Lily's wedding. You even received a ring of your own from a blushing nervous wreck of Sirius, a ring which you happily accepted.
Your seemingly perfect life was shattered only a month before your wedding.
You remembered the day clearer than you remembered most. You had been cooking, your y/h/c hair was put up in a disgusting excuse for a bun, the short blue skirt you were wearing paired with an oversized david bowie t-shirt that wasn't yours was covered by an already stained white apron that read ‘kiss the chef’ in red looping letters. The room had been full of steam, the scent of curry and cumin thick in your nose. You had a bad habit of eating dinner late at night, something developed because of the wacky schedule your job held. You had been waiting for Sirius to come back.
You jumped a bit at the sound of your door slamming open. Harsh footsteps echoed through the hall, your eyes widened slightly.
"Siri? Are you a-" your sentence dropped to the floor when he stumbled into your view. His hair was a tangled mess, his creamy skin broken in a harsh cut on his left cheek. His lips were parted slightly, he was breathing heavily. But the thing that struck you most were his eyes. The stormy grey was rimmed with red, irises tinted pink, a supernatural gloss making them shine unnaturally. The looked broken. They hold an impossibly heavy weight, like the world had suddenly crashed upon them.
"James is dead." He croaked, his voice raged and breaking.
You dropped the pan that you were holding, its contents scattering the ground. "W-what?"
"Lily too." Silver drops shimmered lightly down his face.
You felt tears sting your eyes, your vision blurring, "What about-" your voice fell short in a broken cry.
"He's alive, but I don't know what's going to happen." He sobbed rushing towards you and collapsing into your arms.
"We'll get him, right?" You spoke so softly and delicately, Sirius found the need to stop his breathing to keep you from shattering.
"Y/n, they were sold out." He clutched you desperately shaking.
"What?" Your brain simply couldn't process all this information.
"They think I did it. Everyone thinks I told him where they were." His voice was so raw with fear it was unrecognizable.
You just stood there stunned tears clinging to the inside of your eyelids as you felt your heart smash to pieces.
"They think I did it, but I didn't." He sobbed, "Peter did, I tried to fight him b-b-but now everyone thinks I killed him too, and he-he's alive and they are coming to get me." Tears began to wet your shoulder.
You were too stunned to speak. The feeling of absolute terror and rage swept you.
"They're gonna take me to Azkaban y/n/n." He looked up at you and your heart shattered. He was broken, utterly and bitterly broken.
You felt your already shattered heart clench in protest, begging you to look away from this train wreck of a man before it was hurt anymore. You let out a choked sigh. Before grabbing Sirius neck and slamming your lips roughly on to yours.
His lips were chapped and salty, tasting of blood and tears. You felt his shaking hands wrap around your waist as his tongue slipped past your lips.
You reluctantly pulled away from the kiss, lungs burning dully. You felt your heart stop when you looked at him. Even completely destroyed in front of you it was impossible to ignore his beauty. His cheeks dusted a light pin, eyes blotchy and red, making the grey storms that lurked there brighten with a melancholy light. He remind you of autumn leaves, he was so pretty just before he fell. You pulled him back into your secure embrace, your heart thumping loudly. You led your hands up his back resting them on his shoulders and tugging him towards you. You felt him nuzzle into your neck, inhaling sharply, attempting to engrave the scent of your shampoo in his head. His hands slid to your lower back, resting on the helm of your skirt as he shook violently.
“I love you.” You whispered through a thick wave of silent tears. You didn't let your voice break, too many things in that room had already been broken. “I love you so much, and everything is going to be okay. Its gonna be okay.”
And that's how you stayed, standing in the middle of a steamy kitchen, in the smell of curry and cumin, sauce burning in a saucepan on the stove, half sauteed vegetables littered around you like strange confetti. You repeated the last four words you spoke over and over again until you weren't sure who you were trying to convince. You stood like that when you heard loud rumbling footsteps come crashing to your door. You stayed like that as the chant of your impending doom continued up the stairs. The door bursting open. Four Arours came into the small room.
“Ma’m step away from him.” Spoke one of them.
“Sirius Orin Black you are under the arrest for the murder of Peter Pettigrew.” A young woman said.
You could no longer hide your tears as you shook with wails, tugging him closer to you. “I love you y/n.” He spoke quietly into your ear. “I love you so much.”
“I know,” You cried, “I love you too.”
Just as you finished your sentence you were ripped from his grasp. You struggled, delivering a harsh kick to the crotch of the man who held you. He fell to the ground with a groan as you scrambled back towards Sirius. Your wrist was snatched by a different Arour when you just millimeters from him. You spun towards the ground at the sudden gasp and landed with a harsh thump, as soft whimper escaping your throat.
“Don’t you dare touch her!” Sirius hollard Struggling with the two men holding him as he glared at the women who had dragged you to the ground, were she now also lay. One of the men raised his wand whispering ‘crusio’ Sirius let out a painful scream as he began to write in their grip,
Your vision went red. You landed your foot harshly onto the women Aruors face with a crunch. She shrieked as you darted towards the man holding his wand with a fiery rage. When you reached him you slammed your fist into his face with such force you felt your nails price the skin of your palm. He stumbled backward hand instinctively flying to his jaw, dropping his wand. You snatched the wand from the air and aimed it at second man prepared to unleash hell but before you could utter a spell. You heard a loud yell.
“Stupify!”
You flew across the room; flying straight in to your china cabinet. You felt your head thunk loudly on something as glass shattered around you. Your back felt like a pincushion, the needles of glass lodged into it. Your vision danced as you felt blood seep down your cheek.
“You fuckers!” The voice sounded so distant, like it was deep underwater, “She didn't do anything, you worthless sacks of shit!”
“Siri?” you quietly mumbled quietly and suddenly your vision went black.
You had awoken in a hospital, eyes fluttering open to fluorescent lights. The strong smell of medication and sickness made you want to gag. Suddenly the moments before your world fell, came rushing back to you in a sick wave. You sat up quickly gasping as you felt a searing pain in your lower back.
“Be careful, wouldn't want you to rip out those stitches.”
“Sirius?’ You asked excitedly. But soon your vision straightened and your eyes locked with a pair of hazel.
“Hey y/n/n.” Remus sighed, his voice strained. He looked terrible, his eyes bloodshot. Dark circles making his face appear sunken. The bright scars on his face blending with his pale complexion.
“Remus where's Sirius?” you asked. Maybe it was all a dream.
Remus felt tears climb slowly up to his eyes, he gasped for air as if he was being strangled, “None of us saw it coming y/n. I didn't expect you to.”
You let out a throttle whimper, “He didn't do it Re. I know he didn't. He would never hurt Peter orJames or Lily or Harry.” You gasped. “Harry?”
“You’re getting him,” Remus spoke attempting a smile that turned to a grimace.
“Where is he now?” You could feel tears seeping down your right cheek but, but not your left.
“Your house with your parents.” Remus respond as he watched you slowly raise your hand to the bandage just below your lf eye, now damp with salt. “From the china cabinet, your lucky you didn't lose your eye.”
“Who were those Arours. I’m going to get them fired.” You growled lowly.
“I don’t know y/n but-”
“They used an unforgivable curse on Sirius."  You explained urgently to the man sitting beside you.
Remus cringed as you spoke his name. “Y/n. He was being arrested for murder, they can use whatever force necessary.”
“But it wasn’t necessary!” you cried out suddenly.
“Y/n/n, I don’t really think that’s gonna hold up in court. I mean it would be the word of four respectable Aurors, three of which you banged up pretty bad apparently, verses the confused and delirious fiance of a murderer.” Remus explained slowly as if he were talking to a child.
You felt blood rush to your cheeks as a dull ache that reminded you slightly of hunger, lodged into your heart. “Stop calling him that.” Your voice was dark and dangerous, for a split second, Remus was completely and utterly terrified of you.
“Y/n you’re going to have to come to terms with it eventually.” He sighed, his voice holding the disappointment of a mother scolding her child.
“He didn’t do it, Remus!” You shouted, “How can you possibly believe that-that Sirius would do anything to ever hurt James, hurt Lily, hut Harry? Do you really think that he would do that. Do you truly think that low of him?”
Each word you spoke was like a knife thrusting into his heart, “Y/n, you know how his parents were, how his brother was, how his whole family was. They had a stronger hold on him than he would ever care to admit, he was a lost cause.”
“Fuck you, Remus.” You spat, “He changed and you know it. He wasn’t like them. And if you truly believe that he did it, you clearly didn’t know him at all.”
“Y/n-”
“No. You are just using your brain. Your stupid logical brain and you only looked at the evidence. Your not looking at the fact that Sirius loved James. He was like a brother to him. No, he was a brother to him. He saved him. And if you think that Sirius would ever do anything to hurt James, Lily or their son, get the fuck away from me.”
The werewolf opened his mouth to speak but before he could utter a word you cut in.
“I said get out.”
He didn’t bother arguing with you. He could see the pain and misery that had consumed you. You were going to need time. You would come around eventually.
You never did.
The first year was the worst. The glances, the whispers, the points, the overwhelming sense of pity that made you just about want to drown. The only thing that kept you going was Harry. You had to stay sane, for him. If Harry wasn’t yours you would have gone crazy for sure, maybe ending up in Azkaban right next to your fiance. But you kept a straight face. And you pretended to accept what everyone else seemed to believe to be a fact.
You continued in the Order but it soon trickled out as Voldemort became less and less relevant. Once you were done with the Oder you got a job as a lawyer in a small law firm. No one at the firm was quite sure how, but you almost had a magical way of getting witnesses to confess directly on the stand.
You detach yourself from the magical world, know that soon you would have to plunge back into it with Harry soon enough. The years sped by, and soon enough you were taking Harry to platform 9 ¾. You damn near through up as you watched Harry walk onto that platform, images of a boy who had pulled your braids and helped you with Defense Against the Dark Arts years before flashed through your mind. It didn’t help that a young girl who impeccably resembled Lily kept looking your way.
By Harry’s third year you were heading to Hogwarts every other weekend to watch his quidditch matches. He was better than James. You thought of James and Lily often. Harry looked like James, but his eyes. His eyes would always be Lily. You only dared to think of Sirius in the deep of the night. When it was so dark that you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. So late you could convince yourself it was a dream. There was only one person who you kept in your mind constantly.
Peter Pettigrew.
You knew he was alive. You knew he was somewhere out there. You knew that he had murdered his best friends. You knew he was the reason Sirius was in jail. And you knew you were going to kill him.
You never spoke of Peter but your mind was clouded by red visions of him.
You had developed an unexplainable rage towards rats though. Well unexplainable to most.
But you had finally figured you how to live your life. You had finally mastered the act of pretending when the headline broke.
When you heard Sirius had escaped you fainted. Harry had shown you the paper and you had crashed straight to the ground. Not but a day later your house was swarming with Aurors. Another thing you seemed to hate beyond a reasonable amount.
After the people you referred to as vultures left you had met up with Remus, who seemed convinced that Sirius was attempting to kill Harry. You had wanted to slap him. But you swallowed the ever-growing ball of hate and nodded along like a simple-minded bobblehead someone had just flicked.
You knew you were being watched, you could see their eyes everywhere, following your every move. You kept quiet silently praying Sirius has lost his dumbass energy in jail and had enough sense to stay away from you. He did.
Reus had called you at 8:00 at night. “Y/n. You need to come here right now.” his voice was so desperate that you couldn’t refuse.
“Where to?” Your voice was a hushed whisper.
“You know the place we used to camp as kids? James would always try to scare you and always end up getting punched in the face.”
“Of course. How could I forget?” You giggled slightly the memory of campfires and smores, the feeling a leather jacket that was always wrapped around your shoulder. “I’ll see you in five.”
You once again filled your head with images of that small clearing, the large tree to the right side that you would always try (and fail) to climb. The circle of stumps you had dragged over as James harassed Lily. The scent of pine always so strong and fresh.  And then you opened your eyes and you were there.
The stumps were decaying into the ground, moss covering them like a blanket of green. Dusk was setting in and the world was growing dark. You could see the lights of Hogwarts in the distance. You glanced up your eyes landing on the one star that shone brightly in the heavy grey sky.
“Sirius.” You mumbled to yourself. The name rolling off you tongue so easily it hurt.
“Y/n!” Remis ran towards you his eyes wide with a mixture of panic and excitement.
You turned towards him whipping your hair around. For a second you could have sworn your name had fallen out of someone else’s lips.
“We have to go. Come on.”
You followed obediently until you reached the outskirts of the forest.
Remus stopped suddenly running back to face you. “You have to change.”
“Change?” you asked. He nodded expectantly. Suddenly you remembered. “But Re I haven’t-”
“You need to.”
You sighed closing your eyes and intaking a sharp breath. You felt yourself shrink and grow a fur coat until when you opened your eyes you were looking at Remus’ knees.
The werewolf smiled down at the pretty black dog below him. You smiled wolfishly at him flashing a pair of sharp k-9 fangs. He just chuckled before sprinting through the grounds.
You followed easily jogging beside the man. When you reached the whomping willow you wait for Rums to pull his trick before darting into the small cave at its trunk.
As the cavern began to open up you switched back, happy to be walking on two legs again. Remus soon caught up with you as you entered the shrieking shack.
There he was, his back turned, hair a frizzy mess you almost giggled childishly at. You felt your heart soar to your throat.
“Ah, Moony, took you lon-” His sentence dropped. As he turned. His eyes locking with yours as you struggled to keep a straight face. Sirius’ eyes widened mouth dropping. “Oh my god.”
He took two steps toward you, so hesitant and careful, as if moving any faster would cause you to bolt. “Y/n?” his voice was broken.
“I’m sorry?” You spoke holding back a shit-eating grin, “Do I know you from somewhere?”
His face crumpled and you felt a wave of guilt was over you. He stumbled backward stuttering for words. His mind spinning.
Finally, you broke into a smile, “I’m only kidding Siri.” you giggled, only seconds after you finished your sentence you felt your body collide with his.
His arms wrapped around you so tight you felt your breath squeezed form you lungs. Your heart raced as you nuzzled closer to the man, you felt tears prick your eyes, “I could never forget you.”

Lily and James wanted the night for themself, and you could understand that. With the war going on, could you blame them? They asked Sirius if it would bother you to take care of Harry for the night, "and maybe in the early morning," had said James while Lily wasn't listening. So, of course, when your boyfriend asked you, you accepted. While not having any kids on your own, you were only twenty, after all, you loved them. Adored them even. It was a plan that you had for some time now to have children in the future.
You were alone when they dropped Harry at your house, as Sirius had not yet returned from his job, frankly, you were not expecting him for the night either. Sometimes, you just knew that the job he did wasn't for the Ministery of Magic. You weren't stupid either. Today was no exception; he was working secretly for the Order.
"Sorry to bother you today," started Lily sheepishly as the baby began to play with your hair with his chubby little hands, his eyes full of curiosity. You move one strand of it so he could play with it better. You didn't mind that he tugged it with all the joy that contained his little heart.
"Not at all!" You responded with a smile. "Have a good night you to, I'll take care of this little boy."
"We'll be back sometimes tonight," concluded James with a wink in your direction, kissing Harry one last time on his forehead before pushing Lily out of the house carefully, she had the tendency to stay in the door frame for ages. You ruffled Harry's hair, at six months old, the small boy's hair was almost as thick as Sirius'.
You waved them goodbye, helping Harry do the same as they got out of your little house. It was nowhere as big as Sirius' childhood house. As he was from a pureblood family with money, even if he did run away, James' family had a big place too. In your family, money was not growing in the trees, but love was abundant. Since your father was disowned by his parents, and your mother came from a muggle family, you didn't live in a palace, but it wasn't that bad. Your house, where Sirius and you now lived, may have been small. But it had everything you needed. With its two rooms, kitchen and living room meeting each other and only one bathroom, you were lucky enough to have a backyard and a garage. Which was great for your car and your boyfriend's motorcycle and a few other things too. Has your childhood was mixed between muggle style and wizard-style, Sirius was more than okay to integrate daily objects of the muggles into your home. Because for one, you knew how they worked already and two, he loved living like a muggle. Your work as an aurologist and Sirius's inheritance from one of his disowned uncle was enough to pay for that house and the necessities you liked having. It was the little you could call yours -home- and feel safe during those crazy times.
"Are you gonna spend the day with me, Harry?" You asked in a sing-song tone, the baby giggled, but started to move, trying to get out of your arms, so you placed him on the ground. In the middle of the living room, Lily had put his toys so he would be comfortable. And you knew that in the guest room there were more toys for Harry.
Sirius was hardly one to word his emotions, he showed his affection by the likes of gifts and actions. One example was the never-ending presents he gave Harry each time he could. Your boyfriend would also be very touchy with the child, or you as if Sirius wanted to prove his love doing so. He really was like a dog in that way. For Harry, when you would have him for the day, Sirius had a tendency to present himself under his dog form. He'd wag his tail like crazy when the baby started to laugh hysterically. Harry loved animals.
Your cat, the one you first bought to become your helper at Hogwarts, slowly crept up of his hiding to meet the newcomer. Archimedes -named so after Merlin's owl in the Disney version of King Arthur- knew Harry, but he wasn't a very affectionate cat, to begin with. You knew that Lily's cat was still with her, too, so the child was used to it, so you let him play, while you started cooking dinner. Because of the composition of the house, it was easy to still keep an eye on your nephew.
The war was making everyone anxious, with James and Sirius both Aurors and members of the Order of the Phoenix; it was not making it any easy on Lily and your's nerves. But Lily too was a member of the Order. You weren't, officially. Giving pieces of information on the side was not really dangerous, as long as you didn't mention it. Well, no, actually, it was hazardous, but you were not mentioned anywhere on official papers, you were not on ay pictures of the Order, except one, and only three people had that picture. Lily, Remus and yourself. Even if by the extent it meant that James and Sirius too had that picture. The people who were there when the exchange of images happened were the three of you.
Yet, what was the most infuriating was the numerous time both Sirius and James faced The Dark Lord. Remus was working undercover in a mission with other werewolves, so he was absent most of the time. But James and Sirius, it was like they were saying The Dark Lord's name just to face him and prove themselves. Peter was the calmest of them all, even if sometimes he seems a little too nervous.
You heard Archimedes miauling, and your eyes went up immediately. Your cat was usually very silent. Harry had stuck the cat in his little hands and pulled it on his lap to pet it. You smiled, walking back to the neat and sunny living room, sitting on the ground near the boy to gently pet the cat with him, talking to the baby.
"Is Archimedes kind enough to let you pet him?" Harry giggled gleefully at your cooing. You chuckled.
After playing some more with the clearly grumpy but unmoving cat, you decided that it was time to eat as Harry was starting to lose interest. And so the night went on well. You ended up playing on the ground with Harry. Your book and pages of the essay you were trying to write, now long forgotten on the ground. The one thing you dread is actually the sleeping part. You could still remember the last time Harry slept at your home.
Sirius had come home from work that afternoon, and James had been rushed to the hospital, so you proposed to take Harry so that Lily could go with him. Sirius wasn't in the best mood, but for the sake of his godson, he put a smile on his face. Sirius was still to get used to having a little ball of emotion near him at all times. He usually was the ball of uncontrolled emotion in the group.
That night, Harry made a mess and threw a tantrum the very second you tried to get him to sleep. Trying to leave your arms every time you were near the crib and throwing his cuddy toys. You spent most of the night to make him stop crying, in the hope that Sirius would just, somehow, block the sound. He usually had to sleep his seven hours to be smiling the next day. But that night, Sirius just came in the room to hold the four months old baby with tired eyes but kind smile on his lips. He took him out your arms gently, kissing your forehead.
"I'll take him. James said that Harry normally slept with them. We could try..." After some time him Sirius' arms, Harry went silent, sleeping soundly on his uncle shoulder. You could see Sirius' eyes shining brightly, even in the dark. "He sleeps with us, maybe we'll sleep longer." He had whispered, looking up at you. You agree to that. Sirius looked too much in love with the baby in his arms for you to refuse.
You woke up two other times that night to feed and change the baby, Sirius watched you feed the boy, but he changed him when Harry cried the second time. The very next morning, after Lily came back to take Harry, he told you that he wanted children too.
"Maybe not right now, but when all this s'over, I'd love some mini you or I run around the house."
Lily did tell you that Harry was now sleeping in his own room, but he was getting fussy after his bath, trying to get out of the small bed you had for him. He even, somehow, floated out of bed, back to the living room when you went to retrieve the mail outside. Making a mess playing. So you just sat in the chair near the bed and rocked Harry until he fell asleep. Scared to move, you stayed there.
It was late, nearly midnight when Sirius came back, apparating before the portal of the front yard. The lights of the house were off, but that wasn’t unusual at that hour, you could be reading in the bedroom, only visible from the backyard. He was tired, he back was aching, his day had been hell, James had left early, and he was just not in a good mood. To be fair, he really only wanted to bury his face in your neck because he missed you.
What made him nervous was the unlocked door. Indeed, you would not make that mistake, not during those awful times. But then again, the house was protected, and the neighbourhood was very nice. So he entered the house without making any sound, in case you would be sleeping. But the picture of the house he was faced with made his heart drop down his shoes. It was a mess. Not a very big mess, but a struggling mess, which you were not used to doing. Feeling suddenly cold and very sick in the stomach, bile rising to his throat, Sirius drew his wand before him. "Lumos." In the living room, he could see toys, tossed around as if someone had walked through them. A book was on the ground, pages all over the place. Archimedes was nowhere to be seen either. No sound was heard, and by the look of the toys, Harry was here. Neville didn't own small red shoes with snitches on the side.
That's when Sirius' heart speeded, and a vague of hot came for him. He could feel his heart banging in his throat. A sound made him jump. Without hesitating further, he sped through the staircase. In the dark, he felt safer, like this, he could concentrate better on what was going on around him. "Nox."
The first room, yours and his is empty. You are nowhere to bee seen, the covers aren't even disrupted from their making. But your wand is on the ground, near the window, with Lily's bag for Harry's necessities. He goes on for the second room, sounds are perceptible from behind the door, small cracking and hushing. He places his hand on the half-closed door, readying himself to push it, dreading what could be behind it.
He opens it, his wand before him, a spell ready on his lips.
But was only you, with Harry in your arms, an arm before you, your only way to protect yourself really. His eyes scanned the room, but as he saw nothing, his wand lowers, and he steps inside. He makes his way towards you, feeling his shoulder less heavy than ten seconds ago. His heart still hammers in his throat, but he knows that both of you are safe. He kisses your cheek.
His arms around you, hugging from behind, he just watches you rock Harry, back to sleep. The door opening made him open his eyes. "You scared me…" he grunts in your hear. You don't move, but Sirius knows that you understood. "The door was unlocked, there was a mess, I thought someone had broken in while you were with Harry."
You can still feel him shaking slightly. You rest you back even closer to his chest, while Harry yawned. You can hear Sirius' smile in his breath as he watches his nephew. He kisses your cheek again. "Go make yourself ready for bed, I'll take him. He'll sleep with us tonight." You just nod.
You wake up groggy, as Sirius fumbles out of bed, frantically searching for his wand in the covers, Harry sleeping soundly in the crib next to the bed. "Take Harry, there's someone in the house. Go to James'." Sirius' says before leaving the room.
Your mind is still so foggy you don't understand what he said until he walks out the door, shutting it nearly close by reflex. You jump out of bed and carefully take the baby in your arms as to not wake him up, but before you can move, flashes of red and blues lights illuminate the room, as the door didn't close all the way. You freeze, but when the light stops and has you prepare to apparate at James and Lily's house, you hear voices that you recognize.
"Peter, geez man. You can't just come to people's houses like that!" Sirus seems relieved, but your too frantic to think about something else, so you apparate anyway in an alley near your nephew's family house. When you know on the door, it's Lily who answers.
"Are you all right?" She askes. And you explain what happened as she lets you in.
"And I'm sorry I let everything at home, I just reacted. When Sirius said that there was someone in the house, I panicked!" You ramble. James, who was sitting in the kitchen when you entered, jumps out of his seat when he hears that.
"Someone?"
"I think I heard Sirius say Peter, but I didn't stay to listen." James nods, kiss Lily on the cheek and apparates.
Lily takes her son in her arms as he started to wake up and whines, but her face does not trouble as if she's trying to make you feel better. "I'm really sorry, Lily…" you start, but she cuts you short.
"No need for that, I think that Sirius would die first before something happens to you and Harry. And you did your best, bringing him back here for safety. It was selfish of us to ask you to take him yesterday…"
You wave her off. As Lily brings her son to the kitchen to make him eat, she proposes a cup off tea, and you can't just say no.
Some times pass before James, Sirius and Peter come back to the house, Sirius just sits next to you, close to his nephew, but his arms wrapped around your shoulders. James whispers something in Lily's ear. You know, in your guts that's its Order related, otherwise, why would James whisper. They're not Unspeakables… So you turn to Sirius to whisper to. "I'll go back home…" He nods, but raise at the same time as you do.
"We'll leave, there's still a mess to clean up at our house. If there's anything new, just use the chimney. "The others just nod in response, you kiss Harry's head as he plays with the mud that had once been his food. Kiss hug everyone before living, Sirius hot on your trails.
James and Lily's house wasn't that far from yours but, you didn't have a bus pass, of money, and you were still in your pyjama, so locking your arm with Sirius' you apparated to your front yard. In silence, you walked in.
"Hey, (Y/N)" Sirius' voice was hoarse as if he hadn't spoken in weeks, you turned. "What do you think about us. Being married? As in, starting our own family?"
"Why?" You asked suspiciously. You knew him, Sirius wasn't able to be serious for more than three hours straight. Which was long passed by now. So if that was a joke, and you knew he was able to do something like that, he did it before, you were not going to be played again.
"Just asking…" he shrugged nonchalantly.
You shrugged too, turning your back to him to clean up the living room. "I would like having a family, maybe not now, it's too crazy. But I would like that. And I would be happy if it was with you if you want that too… being married, I mean."
You turned to face him once more, the 'why' still on your lips when your eyes registered your boyfriend kneeling, a red box made of velvet in his hands. "Yeah, I would want that too."

Karma | The Marauders
[Chapter 4] Blondes, Brunettes, Ghosts and Meatballs
Karma was scared.
Well, not outright scared. It was more so that the impulsiveness of her decisions was catching up to her now, whilst a most unpleasant nauseous feeling started swirling around inside her belly. Maybe a stroll in the corridors on her first night at the castle wasn't a very wise idea – after all, the Headmaster himself had clearly said that all students were to stay in their dormitories, and not loaf around the castle at night. Karma had been brutally disobedient. Moreover, wasn't the weird caretaker – Filch, was it? – supposed to be roaming these corridors with his cat to watch out for students out of bed? She didn't want to be put in detention her first day. After the little fiasco at dinner, not much conversation was made at the Slytherin table; not by the first-years, at least. The Slytherin Prefects, Lucius Malfoy (who was a right git, Karma thought was wise to add) then stood up and began making his way to the dungeons after very rudely asking the other Prefect, a petite, heavily freckled girl named Daria Monet, to bring the first-years along. Although she'd looked quite offended, Daria said nothing, instead choosing to scurry over to the first-years and lead them after Lucius, who had an ever-present pompous look on his face, which disgusted Karma. She had decided she didn't like him.
After being led in to the common room using the password 'Pure blood', which Karma didn't really grasp the importance of, the first- and second-years were all promptly asked to go to their respective dormitories, because apparently, 'big people discussions' had to take place there. Which, in normal circumstances, Karma would've wanted to look more into, but noting the type of people the common room held – sleazy, pompous, git-looking, and straight up creepy – Karma didn't really wish to stay in such company.
But even after receiving looks of sheer repulsion from her dorm mate, Arrabella, who had decided to stay up to decorate her side of the bed, and laying and twisting and turning and tossing in her bed, Karma didn't get an ounce of sleep. Maybe because of the strange coldness she felt in the bed even after laying in it for so long, maybe because of the constant sounds Arrabella's renovating, or maybe because of the exposedness she felt, even with her curtains drawn, or maybe because she felt something was missing; Karma neither knew, nor cared. She just wanted sleep.
So after the dormitory finally went silent and the lamps were put out, Karma, as silently as she could, hurried out of the room, wand in hand, jacket on. It was made sure that the common room was also empty, which was extremely probable, seeing it was 3:37 in the night, but still, it wouldn't hurt.
And hence, the black-haired female found herself in a chilly, isolated corridor with zero lighting except the moonlight to guide her. What she'd brought her wand along for, she didn't even know – what use would it be? Karma didn't know a single spell. It was more just self-comfort purposes. And although she'd seen the house ghosts, which freaked her out, Karma still couldn't occasionally help but feel that a real, bloody, scary ghost would pop out of somewhere, she was sure she'd heard a-
'Ah!' Oh no. There was a real ghost, wasn't it? That's what caused that thudding sound, as if someone had fallen, and it was out to get her, no? Or maybe it was Filch, which, honestly, was just as bad. Regulating her breathing after that quite embarrassing yelp, Karma spoke up, wand pointed at the end of the corridor, which had a turning. If someone really was there, around the corner, then at least Karma could use the wand to scare it and buy herself some time.
'Wh- who's there?' Ugh, stupid voice cracks. Way to go, Karma, let them know you're scared.
Pushing down her thoughts and fear, she gulped and listened. There was frantic whispering, a hiss, and then a squeak. And amongst it all – surely, she was mistaken – Karma could make out a faint 'sorry'.
Furrowing her brows, the girl took three steps forward, now more confident. She was certain there was no ghost, just wandering students such as herself. 'I know you're there,' Karma said and took more steps, reaching the corridor and swiveled her body towards the new corridor. Her frown deepened. There was no one here. Huh. Well, it must've been just her fear.
Karma turned around and started making her way back to the common room, deciding that she'd had enough adrenaline boosts for the day.
Clang!
She instantly rotated backwards, perfectly sure there was someone there. 'Freeze!'
Someone squeaked again. Karma frowned again. What kind of-?
'Look,' a vaguely familiar voice said, 'we want nothing to do with you. Let us go.'
The girl raised a brow. 'We, huh?'
Someone groaned, there was grunting, and a different but still familiar voice spoke up. 'Please, Karma, let us-'
'How the heck do you know my name? Oh, I've had enough,' and with that, the girl marched forward, thinking it was either some hallucination, or a troublesome student who wasn't really there, because she could swear there was no one there. Instead of the expected outcome, however she crashed straight into something, falling back on her bottom. More than one something, seeing as three bodies appeared out of nowhere and dropped on the floor. Who they were, however, it was hard to decipher, it was too dark.
The shock didn't last long though, not for Karma, because the girl quickly got up and crushed the partial foot that was visible. Someone cried out. The voice, no, surely it wasn't-
'Peter?' the girl asked incredulously.
'...Ow.' Yeah. That was definitely Peter. But first-
'Er, can you... can you become, er, not... can you become visible again?' Karma queried.
'Hm? Yeah, yes, s- sure,' the boy stammered, pulling something off of him. What it was baffled Karma, because it almost seemed completely transparent, as if there was nothing there in the first place. Even as the piece of – what Karma assumed was – cloth was bunched up in Peter's hand, she was sure there was nothing except his ring and middle fingers on his hand. It was bizarre.
There was a groan behind them. 'Once you're done having a chat with your girlfriend, Peter,' the mousy boy blushed, 'can you please-?'
'Y- yeah, sure,' and Peter quickly trotted to a pile of disembodied armor parts and a human. As her friend helped the one in need, Karma looked around, and squinted when she saw two other boys standing up and dusting off their clothes. She could make out the faint outline of a pair of glasses on one, and a baggy sweater on the other. James and... Remus, yes.
The four boys all then quickly assembled near a window through which moonlight was pouring in, and the girl sighed in relief when she spotted peter again. 'Oh god, Peter, you guys gave me a right scare, you know, it's so dark and creepy here, and there was no light, and I don't really know any spells on how to-' Karma broke off suddenly, her forehead creasing.
Wait a second. She was in Hogwarts. A school for magic. Using wands. And Peter was here, with his friends. He seemed to know his way around here, too. So did that mean-?
The dark-eyed girl's eyes widened almost comically.
'You're a wizard, Peter?!'
There was a groan and a squeak. 'Y-yes,' said Peter in a small voice. 'I thought you'd spotted us at the sorting-'
'If I'd have spotted you at the sorting, you'd have known, Peter,' she said raising her brow in disbelief. Honestly, Pete could be really thick sometimes. 'What house are you in, anyway?'
Peter spoke up in more nervous tone than normal. 'O-oh, you, uh, you see, I'm in, er-'
'Gryffindor, Petey boy, you are in Gryffindor, where dwell the brave of heart!' Why are you not saying that, eh?' This was James. He ruffled Peter's hair while asking the question.
'Well, you see, because Karma's in Slyth-'
'Oh, Petey, don't worry,' said Sirius, with an easy-going, mischievous smirk on his face. 'If Karma here really is your friend, then she wouldn't mind,' the boy now looked up at said girl, 'would she?'
Karma was confused. She didn't really get why Remus and Peter looked agitated, the latter appearing quite intimidated, too, and why Sirius and James were sharing mildly haughty looks, as if they'd just scored a point at some game.
She shook her head slightly. Boys were weird. Turning to Peter, she asked, 'Yeah Pete, why would I mind if you're in Gryffindor?' Peter relaxed. James and Sirius snapped their head to the girl. 'I mean, I would honestly really like it better if you were a Slytherin, civilian among those gits – but it's honestly really good to know you're here. I'm already weirded out by magic, courtesy of you guys' little stunt. Just knowing that you're here makes me feel loads better,' she completed with a smile.
Peter smiled back.
Sirius and James, however, were eager to change the topic of conversation. 'So, you're a Slytherin, hmm?' Sirius asked.
Karma scrunched her nose a bit. Were all magic people this weird? '...Er, yes. Yes, I am a Slytherin.'
'Hmm...'
'Well, most of them seemed like nasty people, except Geoffrey. He's a... half- half-blood? Yes, he's a half blood. Whatever that means.'
James nodded as Remus said, 'Half bloods are people who have muggles in the family. One of their parents could be a muggle, or muggle-born. So, because they have half wizard blood and half muggle blood, they're said to be half-bloods.'
Karma nodded, taking in the wisdom. 'And who are purebloods?'
Remus hesitated. Peter squeaked a little, and James and Sirius shared a look, again. 'Uh... purebloods are people who have no muggles in their families. People of their heritage don't marry muggles, mostly. Most pureblood families are proud of their blood, but some, like the Weasleys and Potter and Prewetts, they aren't. Like James' family. It doesn't really matter though, you know, blood.'
'Of course it doesn't. It's stupid. Why would you be proud of something that you haven't even achieved?'
James nodded enthusiastically. 'Yes!' he turned to Peter. 'You, Petey, have got a very forward minded friend.' He slapped Peter on his back.
'So, what- wait a second,' Karma looked pointedly at Sirius. 'I... are you related to Narcissa Black, I think her name was?'
Sirius abruptly grew uncomfortable. Karma didn't pick up on it.
'He's her cousin,' said James.
'Really?' The long-haired boy nodded. 'Whoa. I mean, you do kind of look similar, but your cousin is kind of a snob. No offense, by the way.'
'None taken. She's already very prissy, but ever since- you know what, never mind that... my younger brother was also supposed to start at Hogwarts this year. Everyone was sure he'd get sorted into Slytherin too.'
'Well... I'm pretty sure there's no first-year Black in Slytherin,' said Karma.
'I know. He couldn't attend the feast because of some, er, issue.'
'Hmm...' there was pin-drop silence for the next 45 seconds, until James and Karma started speaking together.
'Well, mateys, don't you think we should-?'
'Sirius, why aren't you in Slytherin if-?'
Both stopped at the same time too.
Karma refrained from asking the question again. Instead, she asked, 'So, what were you guys doing here, roaming at night?'
Another look was shared among the boys, and suddenly they were all very eager to drop Karma off to the Slytherin common room, because 'Filch, that old cockroach, could be lurking anywhere, you know, and his cat's quite lethal too, scare you to death, those two can, I tell you-,'
. . . . .
The next morning, Karma woke up to the shrieks of her dorm mate and frogs jumping on her face, her arms, legs, hell, she was sure there was one on her stomach, too-
'Arabella! What happened?'
But Karma's voice was unheard and ignored, because all Arabella was concentrating on was shrieking and screaming on a pitch so high it was sure to make her throat rupture. For a few moments, Karma just lay in her bed, trying to soak the insanely bizarre situation in.
The shrieking didn't cease until not much later – the same time when Karma finally decided to get up because there were frogs in her bed, and when two, Karma had to admit, quite good-looking boys barged in. They were both fairly similar to each other, but whom they possessed striking resemblance with was Arrabella. With all three of them having the same tannish skin, dark hair, light eyes and impressive facial structure, the three were eerily same-faced.
'Arrabella! Are you alright?' one of them asked.
'Alright? Alright, you ask? NO! I'm NOT alright! There's frogs in the entire dorm – oh, Merlin – and- and in my wardrobe, and, Salazar, they're in my MAKEUP BAG!'
The brothers both looked at each other, appearing sort of scared. I would be, if I was in their position. Arrabella may be pretty, but she can sure as heck be scary, too.
With a couple swishes of their wands, the boys managed to clear the room of frogs, although Arrabella still appeared to be deeply traumatised. The boys each gave her a hug, albeit quite gingerly.
Karma stared. It looked to be that either the boys and Arrabella had really not quite noticed Karma, or were blatantly ignoring her. She didn't know what was more humiliating.
. . . . .
Later, at breakfast, after the entire frog problem was resolved, the girls bothe headed to the dormitory. Arrabella immediately took a seat beside Adrian, even though she had to push aside Geoffrey for that, so Karma followed her lead and sat across from Geoffrey. Turns out it was a mistake.
'Ew!' exclaimed a blonde, slightly older girl sitting nearby. 'Mudblood! Get away! Shoo!'
What the-? Shoo?
Karma widened her eyes at the sudden exclamation. Arrabella paid no mind. Geoffrey looked up with a slightly concerned and mostly surprised expression. Alec looked like he was about to say something, but Adrian gave him a look, and so Mr. Hartley shut up as well. '...Er, what do you-?'
The girl cut her off. 'Is she talking to me?' she asked to no one in particular.
A brunette, who seemed to be the only other person except the first-years even acknowledging the events taking place, nodded furiously. A horrified look crept upon Blondie's face. Then, she screamed. Loud.
Karma was jarred. Several people at the table jumped and turned to see what the commotion was all about, a few people dropping their knives and forks too. Arrabella was still paying no mind, although she seemed to be highly restraining herself from committing bloody murder, for her knuckles clutching the cutlery had gone white. Adrian was now sitting back in his seat and watching with a little smirk on his face. Alec and Geoffrey both shared disturbed looks, then as the former covered his ears with earmuffs conjured by a little wave of his wand, the latter covered his ears with his hands.
'W- what are you-?' Karma tried to ask, but the girl only screamed louder. Widening her eyes and frantically trying and failing to get the blonde to calm down because students from other tables had started to look their way, Karma could only try to fathom what was causing the female to shriek her throat out.
'Hey!' yelled another voice, only adding to the chaos that was breakfast. It was Lucius Malfoy, in all his sneering, haughty, pompous glory. He was striding to the first-years. 'What is going on?' When no one answered, he grew more insistent.
'I am the Slytherin Prefect and I demand to know- Agh!' Adrian had tugged on Lucius' hair, leading to the fifth-year crying out in pain. 'Why would you do that, you naughty little-!'
'Man, get some chill, would you? Sit down and enjoy the show, like we are!' he slapped Alec on the back loudly while saying 'we'.
Lucius scoffed. 'This is no show to watch, get it? You're the Pucey boy, aren't you?'
'Yes, indeed.'
'Hmm. Well, I now understand where your disgusting, ill-mannered behaviour comes from, considering your whole family is a bunch of hooligans!' Lucius sneered.
Adrian stood up in an instant. 'What did you just say?' he was seething through his teeth.
'I said your family's a-,' before Lucius could complete saying what he was, Adrian punched him square in the jaw. By now, quite a lot of people had started watching, incluing but not limited to Peter and his friends. Most of them looked annoyed, a few looked amused, and a bit looked angry. Overall, it was a sight sending Karma in a panic.
'Look,' she said to Blondie, because she knew that she had no chance of dissolving the fight that was taking place and getting cheered on, in the background, 'I don't know what I-'
'AAAAAAAHHHHHHH-!'
'-but please stop screaming-'
'AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH-!'
Karma stopped trying, just sinking down in the seat and trying to shrink into herself so that she could become invisible. Lucius and Adrian's fight had escalated very much very quickly, as Lucius was now throwing spells and jinxes and curses, while two boys that could very well have been meatballs were punching Adrian to pulp. Adrian was resisting impressively, and Alec was now involved in a duel with Lucius. Professor Slughorn had approached to try and diffuse the situation, but it was no use, and Karma was pretty sure the two meatballs-for-goons, apparently called Crabbe and Goyle, had landed a couple kicks on him, too.
Finally, something snapped. That something was Arrabella. She let out a frustrated short scream, which Blondie apparently took as a threat to her shrieking abilities, and screamed louder, and then Arrabella whipped out what appeared to be a pair of nail scissors. Her wand in hand, she successfully managed to increase them considerably in size, up until they were too big for the girl to hold without toppling over, and picked them up with a heave. Letting out a battle cry of sorts, she raged ahead, straight into the boys' fight, and threatened to cut Lucius' hair, which seemed to disturb said boy deeply. He immediately stepped back, and frantically began explaining to a red-faced Slughorn how it wasn't really his fault at all, but the mudblood's, which honestly made Karma's blood boil, but Slughorn seemed to be taking good care of that, so she didn't intervene.
Geoffrey had long fled the scene, mumbling something about getting to classes early. Arrabella was snapping the scissors open and shut like a madwoman, but no one really seemed scared.
The pandemonium only ceased when Dumbledore bellowed, 'SILENCE!' and then proceeded to introduce a familiar looking, thin, pale boy with dark hair. Regulus Black.
Guess there was going to be a new addition to the Mudblood Hate Organisation.

Home is Where You Are
The sound of rain pattering on his windowsill, and a breeze ruffling the yew tree near his window, sync with his baffled pain. Remus sighs. The night is cold and distant and he can't sleep, of course. Remus Lupin and insomnia, a love story that can give himself and Sirius a run for money.
Sirius.
It's been almost two days since Sirius left their flat. It's been almost two days since Lily called him and asked, "Sirius is here Remus. Are you guys okay? Are you okay?"
Remus sighed, "Yeah Lily, I'm okay. How's he?"
"He doesn't look quite good, you know. Refused to eat anything. James had to force him."
"What's he doing?"
"Staring at the ceiling", Lily lowers her voice, "Don't worry, Remus. We'll take care of him."
"I know Lils."
The radio is playing since the day Sirius left. A heated argument, shouts, the radio, finally the bang of their front door and Sirius is gone. Remus recalls how stupid he felt standing frozen at the middle of their living room and "Love of my life" playing in the background, from their bedroom. Quite ironic, yeah. But then, what in Remus Lupin's life is not ironic or a twist of crooked laughter of fate? War-torn veterans, that's what they are. Werewolf. DADA professor of Hogwarts. A charity case, of course. Drowning himself into the quietness of pain and the rain pouring outside his window, a bed without Sirius, self-pitying sounds good as for now, Remus thinks.
It hurts. Everything hurts. It's been some three years since they won the War. Years of misunderstanding, pain, misery ended, maybe. They don't wake up at the middle of the night fearing a sudden attack, gripping their wands tightly anymore. The right side of the bed doesn't seem cold and alone because one of them is away for some Order business.
Except it completely does. Because Sirius has left and he can't sleep. The pain in his chest feels like the heavy clouds that couldn't rain.
Remus gets up and walks over the piles of books, the bottles of whiskey, numerous filters of half-burnt cigarettes, and mugs of his occasional coffee breaks around, stands by the window only to light up another cigarette. It's still raining. The homeless man, is running away from the bench of the tiny park in front of their flat, to find a shelter under the shade of the bookshop at the sidewalk. Remus breathes deeply. The smell of rain and pine, always remind him of Sirius, their boyhood at Hogwarts and the way they have always been with each other. He is in love with a boy he knew some twenty years back. He is in love with the man whom he married three years ago, who left him two days back. "Stupid pathetic fallacy!", he mentally groans, throwing away the half-burnt cigarette from the slightly open window of his room, only to stop the tears that are threatening to trickle down.
He was never okay when Sirius was away.
----------------------------------------------
It's been four days and fifteen hours and Sirius is still not home. It's fifteen texts and three calls unanswered and Sirius isn't home.
Everything reminds him of Sirius and he can't breathe.
Remus grabs his worn out coat and walks down snowy London streets. It's always been his coping mechanism, walking with the snow, all alone, when everyone hurries to go home. He has nowhere to go. No Sirius. No home.
At least the wind slapping on his cheeks and nose hurts less. At least it numbs the pain of missing Sirius, being windswept, frost bitten.
----------------------------------------------
He goes back to flat. It suddenly sucks the breath out of his lungs, thinking Sirius won't come here to find him. Drowning himself in misery and chugging Ogden's strongest Firewhiskey isn't helping him numbing the pain either. The pain and the desire of numbing it, interlaced, remind him of Sirius even more, their quiet flat, the radio relentlessly playing, the telly murmuring in the background, Sirius' side of bed, his Pink Floyd t-shirt, everything screams Sirius here, everything screams their togetherness, domesticity. He runs his finger absentmindedly on the rim of Sirius' favourite coffee mug, Canis Major printed on it, memories flashing by, " Of all things, you have to buy this mug, Sirius?", he laughs.
"Aw come on Moons, praise your beautiful husband and his personalized coffee mug. They made it for me! I'm everywhere, see! The brightest star, after all."
"A narcissistic prat, that's what you are.", Remus snorts, playfully punching Sirius' arm.
"Oi! That's not fair babe!"
Remus smiles fondly, tasting the tears on his lips, breaking like a dam that couldn't hold itself anymore. He wipes his cheeks feverishly, only to notice the cigarette, sitting idly in between his fingers, has burnt and he hasn't taken a single drag.
Coping mechanism.
Remus stands up, and stands in front of the window, fresh tears forming in his eyes, once again, everything outside the window blurring with the tears, smudging the difference between time and space, losing himself over and over again.
His trance breaks with the ringing of his phone.
Sirius.
His heart stops. Time freezes. A rush of anxiety and relief simultaneously flood his consciousness, and tremblingly, he receives the call, silently wishing the whining pessimism in his brain really stops, at least for now.
"Hello?", his voice trembles, reflecting his own nervousness.
A long pause. Remus waits in bated breath. Maybe Sirius misses him. Maybe he doesn't.
"Moons?", Sirius' voice sounds so feeble, distant , like he hasn't slept for the time he was away from Remus, yet so home. Remus lets go the breath he didn't realize holding, in three days and some hours that almost felt like a painful eternity.
"Moons, I'm so sorr--"
"Come home, babe, please?", he pleads.
"Y.. Yes. I am coming."
----------------------------------------------
Fifteen minutes later, Sirius is in front of him, at the middle of their living room, where he left Remus four days back. Arms wrapped around Sirius' waist, Sirius hiding his face in the crook of Remus' neck, crying, crying, an overwhelming feeling of love and gratitude flooding as Sirius' tears wet his t-shirt, the saline tears on his lips and Sirius' messy hair, it all feel so surreal.
"You're here, you're here.", Remus feverishly repeats, like his life depends on it, with a hint of surprise, and a deluge of relief and love.
"I'm here Remus, I'm home, I'm home.", Sirius cries, like Remus' arms around him is breathing him back to life.
They stand there, embracing each other. Time blurs once again.
"Remus?", Sirius looks at him.
"Hmm?"
"Are you mad at me?"
Remus softly laughs, "I'm always mad at you Padfoot."
Sirius smiles, "But you love me."
"Yes, I do."
"I love you too babe."

Love Is You

Love Is You -> Chapter 29- FINAL
It has been 7 months since Scarlett and Severus moved into Scarlett’s retirement house in Naxos. Severus has quit his job because he wanted to spend all of his time with Scarlett after he found out about her heart illness. Scarlett hasn’t wanted him to do that sacrifice for her but Severus was persistent. When they moved Naxos in June, first couple of weeks passed with decorating the house; their choice of decoration style was a mix of coastal and Greek.
Scarlett wanted to spend rest of the year in Naxos too, they went to London for 2 weeks in September for Scarlett’s yearly check-up and to visit her parents and Carina.
“Dad...” Scarlett looked at him sleepy and tried to sit up. “You came.”
When she realized all the people she wanted to see was in the room, her sad eyes sparkled with happiness. “You all came!”
“Of course we did mummy!” Carina jumped on the bed to snuggle her.
“Be careful Carrie.”
Leo warned her, he was extremely tense since he found out about his mother’s condition.
I don’t wanna hear those Scarlett.” Sirius held her hand tightly and kissed her knuckles.
Her heart broke thinking that she won’t be able to live any of these events Sirius just said.
“Don’t buy little motorbikes to our grandchildren for their first birthday.” Scarlett joked trying to change the mood.
“Ah damn, i was just thinking that!”
Sirius laughed but shortly his laughters turned into sobs.
“Scarlett Serafina Rose, i love you more. You are the best thing ever happened to me. I am so so so sorry all the times i made you sad, none of them were intentional... You are my one and only.”
Without a thought, Sirius closed the gap between their faces and pressed his lips into hers.
Severus was about to ask her what she means but before he could, Scarlett kissed him passionately. This took Severus by surprise; since Scarletts illness got worse, the only intimate moments they shared were soft and slow kisses.
You are my luck.”
Severus kissed her one last time.
Severus cried out while sliding down the wall to the floor. He buried his face into his palms and cried his heart out. When he calmed down, he kissed Scarlett’s promise ring which he was wearing on his pinkie now.
“I love you Scarlett... We will meet again…”

Manifesto Astri
Draco woke up in the middle of the night to an empty tent.
It was the night between July 30th and 31st, Harry’s 26 birthday, and they decided to go to a two days long trip with Pansy, Blaise, Theo, Hermione, Ron, Luna, and Neville.
They planned a 3-hour walk inside the Forest of Dean to reach a clearing where rumours had it that fairies could be seen flying during the night if one was lucky enough to see them.
It was late afternoon when they arrived, and after picking a location they all liked, they set their magically enlarged tents for the night. Draco and Harry shared a tent; it was the first time they celebrated Harry’s birthday together, and Draco wanted to make it special.
As evening came closer, they lit a bonfire and cooked a hearty meal. Everyone brought something from home, resulting in an amount of food that could last for an entire week.
Despite that, after dinner, they also roasted marshmallow together on Draco’s insistence. Some months ago, Draco had discovered Harry eating an entire pack of marshmallow alone while watching that damn Muggle contraception, the Television. Harry had frozen with the last marshmallow mid-air, caught red-handed, and Draco had burst out laughing hard. Since then, he had known that marshmallows were a big weakness of Harry’s.
They stayed up late, talking, joking, confessing old secrets, sharing personal facts. Even though Draco didn’t particularly like to engage in such kind of conversations, he knew Harry craved those moments of friendship and cosiness when he felt he had a family and he was loved.
At midnight, they sang “Happy Birthday To You” to Harry, and gave him his present: the new model of Firebolt, released only two days before. Draco had spent almost his entire salary on it, but it was worth it for Harry’s smile and his eyes, glimmering with joy. Harry almost cried and hugged everyone in turn, much to Pansy and Blaise’s disgust, who still weren’t used to Harry’s waves of affection.
By the end of the night, Draco felt sated and tired, and when he and Harry entered their tent, he immediately fell asleep in the arms of his boyfriend. It was the coldness that Harry’s empty spot left that woke him up, and he put on a coat to go out and search for him.
As soon as he came out of the tent, he saw Harry sitting alone in the grass a few feet away. Draco approached him and got down behind him, hugging him and whispering, “Something wrong, honey?”
Harry leaned on Draco’s chest, letting his head fall on his shoulder. “You know I get a bit weird during my birthday. And—” Harry stopped, swallowing loudly.
Draco trailed his fingers on Harry’s arms, cuddling him. He kissed Harry’s neck, and that seemed to calm him down. He resumed, “And I can’t find Sirius’ star, so I’m getting nervous.”
Draco repositioned himself next to Harry and guided him to lay down on the grass, facing the sky. They laid down together, holding hands. Draco took out his wand and turned his head towards Harry: “Harry, you can’t see Sirius because it’s not visible in this time of the year.”
Harry’s eyebrows furrowed, and he looked troubled at the news. Draco added quickly, “Wanna see some… magic?”
Waving his wand, he whispered, “Manifesto Astri”, and thousands of little lights appeared all around them.
Draco knew it was breathtaking; it was a spell his mother had shown him for the first time when he was a child, and he remembered how fascinated he felt.
Harry gasped and quickly propped up on his elbows, looking everywhere around them with the stunned face of someone who just discovered what Christmas is. After the initial awe, Harry looked at Draco and asked, “What is this?”
Draco pulled Harry back on the grass with him and said, “This is an ancient spell that belongs to the Black family. I think it’s right you know about it too. It shows you the night sky from a nearer distance. The effect is pretty evocative and a bit soppy, too.” He turned and kissed Harry, who opened to the kiss, melting into it.
Harry broke the kiss, and said with a weak voice, “This is beautiful, Draco… but I still can’t find Sirius.”
Draco took Harry’s hand in his and pointed at one of the twinkling lights. “You can never be wrong about it, Harry, it’s the brightest one.”
Harry brought down his hand to wipe the tears that rolled down silently on his face, finally giving in to his emotions. “I m-miss him so much Draco. You know, once he told me…he told me t-that the ones who love us never really leave us, because we can always find them in our heart, but, b-but…”
Draco turned to take Harry into his arms, and he entwined their legs, starting to stroke Harry’s back lightly and pressing soft kisses all over his face. He hoped his affection would be enough for Harry.
After some minutes like that, Harry’s breath started coming out more regularly, and he mouthed on Draco’s neck, “Mmh…sorry for that. You know, I was thinking…where’s your constellation?”
Draco grinned, and he dragged Harry next to his constellation, outlining its shape together, Harry finally smiling too.
After that, they started running around that stars’ rain, pointing at this and that, trying to connect them, drawing animals and funny forms until Draco stilled, caught by an odd movement towards the trees beyond their clearing. Draco broke his spell and Harry reached for him, “What’s—”
Draco quickly put a hand on Harry’s mouth, murmuring, “Sssh! Follow me! Move slowly and don’t make noises!”
Harry’s eyes widened but he nodded, and they approached the trees with stealthy steps, lowering behind some bushes to see what was happening.
What they saw would stay with them for the rest of their lives: thousands of fairies were dancing together, creating various figures, circles and spirals! Some of them left a golden trail behind them and others silver, red, and blue, making the view from the outside even more mesmerising. It was a triumph of colours and lights, and Harry and Draco couldn’t do anything else than stare in admiration at the show in front of their eyes.
They stayed hidden behind the bushes, hoping time would never pass until they saw that the fairies were slowing down and dissipating one after the other. It was almost dawn; the sky was turning light rose and the air smelled of fresh breeze. It was time for the fairies to go back to their reign.
Harry and Draco were still there, long after the last fairy had disappeared, struck by the intensity of what they had witnessed. Then, Harry jumped on Draco, showering him with kisses, and declaring, “Before we go back to the others, I have to thank you, love. You gave me one of the most beautiful birthdays in my life. If these are the premises, I can’t wait to live my whole life with you.”
Draco’s eyes filled with emotions: he couldn’t wait either.

For family (post HPHM)
"Lin? Report for duty, miss."
"Present. What's the mission?"
"There was a raid that happened earlier today at a house near the bay. I would like you and Miss Tonks to investigate it. I'll give you the address."
"On it. Thank you."
---
The house was unlike anything Clara had ever seen--almost unfamiliar from her immediate memory. Dislodged bricks cascaded down the side of what was left of the walls, shattered glass glistening on the concrete paths. The once pristine garden, blossoming under her father's care, was now littered in fragile ruin. The roof, thankfully, remained intact, but there was nothing Reparo could do to the rest of the wreck.
"Wotcher, Clara." Tonks appeared at her side a moment later, her face falling the minute she saw the house. "You recognize this place?"
"This...Tonks, this was my house," the other girl told her. "The Snatchers must have raided it last night."
"And look at this wreck!" Tonks cried, looking around at the ruins. "God, Professor Sprout would not have been pleased to see the petals all over the place."
Clara sighed, a fast rush of air escaping her slightly chapped lips. "My father loved Herbology," she recalled. "He loved it enough to take such good care of any garden, even raise one for his own. Even in his busiest times, he'd take some time to water the flowers, hum a few tunes..."
No. The tears were coming, fast and thick as they brimmed in her eyes. With a quick shake of her head, she stepped over a broken flower pot and carefully travelled through the wreckage until she reached the front door.
"Alohomora," Tonks intoned, pointing her wand at the lock.
Nothing. There was no click, nothing unhinged.
"It must be unlocked," Clara murmured, twisting the knob and pushing the door inward. Sure enough, the door gave way and swung open, silent enough to enter undetected.
The inside of the house didn't look any better. Papers were torn and littered all over the tiles, the chandelier in the hall snapped by the chain and broken in millions upon millions of crystal shards. Photo frames of her family hanging on the walls--her parents, Jacob, herself, and little Em--had cracked glass spider-webbed from where something miniature hit it. Ink stains now decorated the pristine white walls, silhouetted images completely unrecognizable.
"Blimey. You'd have thought they wanted to take this house for ransom, and all because of you and your brother's exploits with the Cursed Vaults," Tonks remarked quietly, stepping in after Clara and almost tripping immediately on an umbrella stand. Clara had to hold fast to her friend's arm to stop her falling.
"They probably had a thing against those who gained a reputation so early in life," Clara responded wistfully, picking up a picture frame that held her parents on their wedding day. "My mom a writer, my dad a Herbologist, my brother a Curse-Breaker, and my sister a Potioneer...we found our purposes so early on in life." She stowed the wedding photo away in her pocket, along with an undamaged frame holding her entire family--the five of them smiling and waving eagerly in front of a camera. "It was all under my mom's influence that we figured out anything in our lives at all."
Tonks nodded silently as she strode into the study--Clara's mother's old study where she did all her writing. The books there remained untouched, weathered under use but intact nonetheless. The ink pots were gone, but otherwise there was no sign of a raid there in sight.
"Whoa," Tonks said as she pulled open a drawer to reveal a thick brown portfolio. "Did your mom really write all this?"
"Hmm?" Clara glanced over from the parlour, where she was performing Reparo on the old family piano. She recalled the joy she once had playing it, the days when music filled the empty halls and her family would feel at ease with the melodies. Her fingers lingered over the ivory keys for a moment before letting them fall to her side. "Yeah. My mother kept all her manuscripts when my brother went missing."
Tonks nodded as she put the portfolio in a messenger bag she slung over her back. "At least these meant something to your mom," she said. "She still had something to hold onto when he was taken into that portrait in the Vault."
"Yeah. But she ended up taking the worst of the impact when my brother went missing," Clara reminded her. "People started hating on her, write bad reviews for her that drove her to tears. One critic told her that she was incapable of taking care of her family, and should die for her incompetence."
"What?! No!"
Clara nodded sadly. "I have no idea how she ended up holding herself together. One way or another, she still picked herself up and sought another career. She's working with the Ministry now, too--with Tulip's parents, ironically. The Department of Magical Law Enforcement."
Suddenly, she stood up straight as a slight rustle came from her right, in the kitchen. With an uneasy glance at Tonks, she entered the kitchen on silent feet, her wand held out in front of her.
Cups and plates were moving on their own--a sight she had never seen before in all the years she stayed here. She raised her wand, flicking her wrist.
"Homenum Revelio."
As the spell wore off, she stood face to face now with an older woman with shorter black hair and brown eyes, wearing a scarlet dress that went down to her knees. Her feet were bare, yet silent as they moved across the stone floor. A closer look at the woman made Clara gape a little, while Tonks kept her wand raised.
"M-mom?"
Mrs. Lin turned to her daughter now, completely overjoyed. "Oh, Merlin! It's just you!" she cried in relief, hugging her daughter tightly. "And you must be...?"
"Tonks." Tonks smiled ruefully as she saw her friend reunited with her mother, safe and sound.
"Thank Merlin. I was only up and early making breakfast for your sister--it's the first day of her fifth year, after all--and then those imposters just broke into the house! Said they were looking for a man named Sirius Black."
"I thought something happened to you!" Clara exclaimed. "The Ministry told me it was an emergency mission!"
"Ah, yes. I keep forgetting my middle child has become a wonderful Auror!" Mrs. Lin said in awe. "No, they just...showed up out of nowhere. Men in long black cloaks and black bandannas, and masks...and they had a huge sack."
"At least tell me little Em's safe!" Clara cried. "If something happened to her..."
"I'm right here," little Em piped up now as she entered the kitchen, where her mom, sister, and friend were standing. "So, you heard of the raid?"
"I thought something happened to all of you!" Clara repeated, tears reappearing in her eyes but this time glistening in sheer relief. "We were just making sure nothing important was taken."
"No, dear. They just wanted to make sure the prisoner was caught again, sent back to Azkaban." Mrs. Lin shivered at the thought of Azkaban. "I don't want to go working there again."
"What--ohhh." Tonks only nodded as she recalled what happened that sent her to Azkaban--not as a prisoner, but more or less a detective.
Clara simply put her stowed relics back on the counter, and Tonks also put the portfolio down too. "You can repair this, can you?"
"Of course. You'd be surprised at what Reparo can actually do--or any spell, for that matter."
Mrs. Lin took out her wand and gave it a quick swish. Instantly, everything reorganized itself in its orderly place--picture frames resealed themselves without a crack, the chandelier reattached itself to the ceiling, even the papers were tucked away neatly in a nice pile on the desk in her study.
"Wow. I think I might need that spell to save my life," Tonks remarked in awe, stepping back to admire the handiwork only to bump awkwardly into little Em. "Whoops. Sorry."
"No harm done," little Em said lightly, fastening her Hufflepuff cloak around her. She then took over the stove, whipping up some porridge and toast for everyone, and in moments the four of them were eating breakfast together on the recently fixed table.
"Mm. This tastes really good," Tonks said with a full mouth. "Then again, that might be because I haven't had breakfast yet. Still, though..." She swigged some milk down and smiled. "You cook wonderfully, Em."
"Thanks, Tonks. I've been experimenting with new recipes this summer," little Em responded. "Hopefully I can become an accomplished Potioneer and a cook at the same time!"
"You still need help with the packing?" Clara asked her sister now. "Or are you just about ready?"
"I'm just about done, actually. Just need to coax Cheddar out of hiding, and then we'll be ready to go." Little Em nodded at her sister as she took the empty plates and put them in the sink, then went upstairs to find her cheese-coloured rat.
"I'm surprised she left her rat with its cheese-coloured coat after the spell you did on it," Clara said in awe, glancing at Tonks who just shrugged.
"What? I couldn't come up with a better welcome gift for her than a change in colour for her rat! And that was years ago," she replied. "At least it was better than Diego who offered to duel with her when she learned enough spells."
"Ah, yes, Diego Caplan. I'm happy he's managed to channel his hype into dancing."
Moments later, little Em came bounding down the stairs with her suitcase in one hand and Cheddar in another. Her Hufflepuff cloak hung lopsided over her shoulder, but she was smiling nonetheless. As she straightened herself though, Clara noticed something gold glinting on her cloak, and her eyes widened.
"Alright. I'm ready," little Em stated with a smile.
"Wait." Tonks peered closely at the little gold pin on little Em's cloak. "You're a Prefect now?"
"Yup! One of Hufflepuff's finest Prefects. And yes, I know Clara became one for Gryffindor," little Em said with a laugh. "Who knows, maybe the status would grant me more opportunities in the future to stop all crime in the wizarding world."
"Ah, maybe. But you'll love the Prefect's Bathroom at least," Clara said. "That's a luxury that comes with the badge."
"And disciplining others," little Em reminded her. "Now that would be cake. Considering mom does it all the time to us, of course. Hey, you don't mind if you and Tonks can send me to school? I know you were only here on a mission, but..."
"Hey, of course. I won't turn down sending my sister back to Hogwarts for anything," Clara responded with a nod.
And moments later, she found herself back at Platform Nine and Three Quarters with her sister and her friend, her Auror's uniform billowing as they travelled.
---
"Lin? Was everything okay?"
"It was just a raid to locate Sirius Black by a third party. Residents there are unharmed."
"Clever. Tell your mother she's excused from work today."
"Will do."

Arms ~ Remus Lupin
hello loves, this request comes from @thephelpstwins ! I hope you like it :)
Request: ahhhh could you do "we always share blankets on the couch, i'm sure sharing the bed for the night is fine too" with remus please? ♡
Pairing: Remus x Reader
Y/N: Your Name
Warnings: none!
Word Count: 1.5k
While you loved summer because of the warmth and sunshine it brought to the world, you couldn’t help but hate it at the same time because it kept you away from your favorite place and your favorite people for three, long months.
That’s why, when you received an owl during dinner from James asking you to spend a few weeks at his house along with Remus, Sirius, and Peter, you started packing your things without even replying to let him know you would be coming.
You arrived at the Potter’s a few hours later via floo powder, and as soon as you stepped into their living room, you were just about tackled to the ground by two dark haired boys who you had considered your big brothers for the past six years.
Sirius left sloppy kisses all over your cheeks and foreheads while James wailed and moaned into your ear about how he might die if he’s ever separated from you again.
When James and Sirius finally let go of you, they passed you off to Peter who gave you a timid hug and mumbled that he missed you.
Then, you turned toward the final, and undoubtedly your favorite, member of the Marauders who had stood back a bit and watched you reunite with your other friends.
You took off running towards him and jumped into his outstretched arms with a force so great that the two of you toppled to the floor. After clinging to him for a moment, you lifted your head to look at the beautiful face you had missed so much.
“Merlin, you have no idea how much I’ve missed you.” Remus whispered as he pulled you back into his chest.
You heard Sirius and James gagging and groaning from behind you and you swore those two were the most dramatic boys, no, the most dramatic people you had ever met.
“Really guys, get a room. I don’t think my mother will be happy if she sees you two shagging on her living room carpet.” James snickered.
You quickly untangled yourself from Remus and stood up, shooting a glare at your giggling friends.
“You two are acting like little children, I can’t believe I missed you. I’m ready to go back home now,” you said playfully.
“Well, you’re stuck with us for the next two weeks Y/N, so suck it up and smile! We can’t have your poor attitude affecting the rest of us. Now, everyone upstairs so Sirius and I can show you to your rooms, it is quite late,” James said as he waved an arm towards the staircase leading to the second floor.
When the five of you reached the top of the stairs, Sirius led Peter to the left and James ushered you and Remus to the right. He opened the door and turned towards the both of you with a sheepish grin.
“So you see, Mum is currently doing some renovations and we only have two available guest rooms at the moment. I didn’t think you two would mind sharing a room seeing as you’re always falling asleep on each other in the common room. But, just in case, that couch in the corner is big enough to sleep on. Goodnight!”
James shoved you and Remus inside the bedroom and closed the door without another word. His sheepish smile might have looked convincing, but you could detect the mischievous tone in his voice and knew that he had planned this.
It wasn’t a secret among the Marauders that James and Sirius believed you and Remus fancied one another. It also wasn’t a secret between you and James that you did, in fact, fancy Remus. However, Remus’s feelings towards you have remained a mystery that no one has been able to solve.
“You can have the washroom first, Remus, I’m going to write a letter to my parents and let them know I’ve gotten settled in,” you said cheerfully as you set your trunk on the couch.
“Absolutely not, Y/N, you’re not sleeping on that couch!” Remus cried as he reached out to move your things.
“It was a full moon two nights ago, you’re absolutely mad if you think I’m letting you sleep anywhere but the bed. You won’t convince me, Remus, I can see the dark circles under your eyes.”
Remus opened his mouth to protest again, but you shushed him and pushed him towards the bathroom so he could get ready for bed.
He had always taken quick showers, especially compared to Sirius, good Godric that boy could shower for hours if you let him, so you knew you only had a few minutes to send your letter off to your parents. When you heard the water in the bathroom shut off, you gathered what you needed to shower from your trunk and turned around.
Remus was still pulling his tshirt on when he exited the bathroom and casually ran a hand through his wet hair. Needless to say, you had never seen anything more breathtakingly beautiful in your life. You didn’t notice you were staring at him until he came closer and waved a hand in front of your face.
“Y/N? What planet are you on right now? Can you even hear me?”
You chuckled nervously and brought your towel and pajamas, which were really just one of Remus’s old sweaters and a pair of shorts, up in front of your face to hide the growing redness.
“Yep, I’m fine, just tired. I’ll go shower now. If you’re not in the bed when I get out of the bathroom, I’ll hex you to Hogwarts and back!”
You ran into the bathroom and shut the door, rushing through your nighttime routine so that sleep would come quicker and you could escape the thoughts running through your head about your best friend that definitely weren’t platonic.
After the fastest shower of your life, you climbed onto the lumpy couch and tried to get comfortable. However, that was proving to be a lot harder than you thought it would.
“Y/N, you’ve been tossing and turning for twenty minutes. Please let me take the couch, I promise I’ll be fine. I’ve slept on the floor of the Shrieking Shack, love, I don’t think a lumpy couch is going to be any worse.”
Your body was screaming at you to take him up on his offer, when an idea popped into your head. You didn’t know where your sudden confidence had come from, but you blurted out your thoughts anyway.
“Why don’t we both sleep in the bed?”
It was deathly silent, and you immediately regretted opening your mouth, until Remus’s voice flooded the room.
“Are you…are you sure you’re comfortable with that?”
“We always share blankets on the couch, I’m sure sharing the bed for the night is fine too.”
“Well, alright, as long as you aren’t uncomfortable.”
You crossed the room, leaving the lumpy couch behind you. Remus pulled the covers back and you carefully slid into the bed so that you didn’t hit him with your cold feet. Another surge of courage coursed through you, and you inched closer and closer to Remus until your back was against his chest. He intertwined his legs with your own and wrapped an arm around your middle.
“Isn’t this my sweater?” Remus chuckled as he felt the worn fabric underneath his fingertips.
“I may have stolen a few over the course of our friendship.”
“Why would you want my sweaters, Y/N? They’re not exactly the comfiest articles of clothing you could own.”
You thought of the reasons why, and although you might have been revealing too much, you were always honest with Remus. Quite honestly, you were tired of hiding your feelings.
“They make me feel safe,” you whispered. “I wear them when I sleep because it makes me feel like you’re there; that your arms are holding me and protecting me from everything bad in the world. All I’ve wanted for the past four years is to know how it feels to fall asleep in your arms.”
Remus used the arm hugging your waist to turn you so that you were facing one another, and then pulled your body even closer to his own. Your lips were almost touching and you could feel the air from his breaths on your cheek.
“I would hold you in my arms forever if you asked me to, Y/N. I’ve thought about how it would feel to have you this close to me for as long as I can remember.”
“Well Remus, you have me right now. What are you going to do about it?”
His lips softly pressed against yours and your hand instinctively went to his hair; softly playing with the locks at the nape of his neck.
It was an innocent kiss; a beautiful, innocent kiss, and when you two broke apart, you snuggled even closer to his chest and let the sound of his breathing lull you to sleep.
