What if Marcus went on a journey with Edward? The two together against a threat? What would turn out to be the bond between them?
Edward would attempt to murder Marcus.
Remember that to Edward, especially after the encounter in New Moon, the Volturi are not only the scum of the Earth but corrupt, heinous, tyrants responsible for everything that’s gone wrong in this world.
Marcus, despite being a sad lump of rock, is still a member of this evil trio and certainly as worthy of Edward’s loathing as Aro or Caius. Either Marcus has to redeem himself by being like Eleazar who goes “mea culpa” for not having realized how corrupt the Volturi are (unlikely as Marcus is the heart of the Volturi) or else will remain Evil McEvil.
However, simply murdering the man would be too simple, so Edward’s going to try to get into his head. Just as he did Victoria, he’s going to use his wit and his gift to destroy Marcus and, not only murder him, but have the man realize exactly what he’s done.
Marcus, for his own part, spends the whole journey fully aware Edward loathes him entirely and is planning his murder. Doing something about it would be effort though, and so far, all the Cullen boy seems to be doing is saying strange things about Aro. For hours.
The threat is eventually dealt with, probably mostly by Marcus, and then it comes time to part ways. Edward then tries to actually murder Marcus, he fails, and Marcus returns Edward’s detached limbs to Carlisle in separate boxes.
This, sadly, was necessary.
Edward and Marcus never speak again.

nymphetessimal’s #20booksfor2020 challenge!
hello friends. are you a lover of books but cant find the motivation to read all the books you want to because it seems like a daunting task, or because you cant choose what book to start reading, freak out, and end up reading nothing?
me too bruh.
thats why i decided to make my own little reading challenge to get past the weird drop in motivation i get when it comes to reading, because even though i love to read i cant motivate myself to do it because im so busy and dont really know how start (basically its me having Executive Dysfunction Issues™️ but thats a whole ‘nother can of worms to open). anyways, heres my reading challenge for all of us folks who want to read more but 1) dont want to be overwhelmed and 2) need help deciding what books to read.
make a list at the beginning of 2020 (or even do it now so u dont forget) of:
five fantasy novels
five scifi novels
five real-life novels (this can contemporary or historical fiction. basically any book that takes place on a realistic earth.)
three classics
two non-fiction books
i decided to make my list based on this criteria so that I’d be reading books from a wide range of authours + genres to get a “well rounded” literary education for the year. i also decided to split them up this way so that a goal as big as 20 books (i know for a lot of people thats how many books they read in like a week but for some of us thats huge) doesnt seem as daunting bc i split it up by category.
what i also like about making a specific list of books instead of just deciding to read a certain amount over a year is that i’ll always have a specific book to look forward to, which will motivate me to finish the one im already reading, etc etc. having a specific next step in a process motivates me a lot!
below is the 20 books I’ll be reading in 2020. i think this little challenge i made for myself is going to be really fun, and im excited to start reading books mostly for fun again. feel free to use my outline for your own 20 book challenge, and feel free to reply with your own reading list for 2020!
here are my #20booksfor2020:
FANTASY:
Ninth House - Leigh Bardugo
Starless Sea - Erin Morgenstern
Silver in the Wood - Emily Tesh
The Black Tides of Heaven - J.Y. Yang
City of Ghosts - Victoria Schwab
SCIFI:
Neuromancer - William Gibson
Snow Crash - Neal Stephenson
Ready Player One - Ernest Cline
The Martian - Andy Weir
Station Eleven - Emily St. John Mandel
REAL LIFE/HISTORICAL:
The Book Thief - Markus Zusak
This Must Be the Place - Kate Racculia
Tuesday Mooney Talks to Ghosts - Kate Racculia
Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour - Morgan Matson
The Secret History - Donna Tartt
NON-FICTION:
Today is the Last Day of the Rest of Your Life - Ulli Lust
Digital Minimalism: Choosing a Focused Life in a Noisy World - Cal Newport
CLASSICS:
Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen
Paradise Lost - John Milton
Lord of the Rings - J.R.R. Tolkien

HP Lovecraft’s The Tomb (2007)
Tumblr media
Mathematically, 0.999.. is the same as 1, even though technically they aren't quite the same. The concept hadn’t come to mind in years, but it sprung up within 5 minutes of watching The Tomb. This Ulli Lommel film is infinitesimally short of being an actual turd, but only because you can’t actually evacuate your bowels over your DVD player and get anything but a broken, stinky machine.
Tara (Victoria Ullmann) and Billy (Christian Behm) wake up in a dark warehouse filled with Halloween decorations and coffins, covered with wounds. As they explore the building they find more survivors, along with notes from their captor who informs them that “Eight Nails. Who Fails?” and that only one of them will make it out alive.
Technically, the film is titled H.P. Lovecraft The Tomb, (yes, there is a grammatical error in the opening credits) but it has nothing in common with the works of H.P. Lovecraft. There’s nothing good here. Nothing at all. It’s like this picture had an anti-budget, where it was only made using things that people paid Ulli Lomell to take off their hands. There are attempts to be frightening, or at least I think so, using cheap makeup effects, ominous camera filters, plastic skulls, and a few quotes from Lovecraft’s work here and there, but I’ve gotten phone bills scarier than this. The acting is painful to watch, making it obvious from the start that you’d best turn tail, eject the DVD from your machine, and burn it (as if “written, directed and produced by the director of Zombie Nation, Zodiac Killer, B.T.K. Killer and Curse of the Zodiac weren’t hints enough). In their defense, I’m not sure I can blame the actors, as it appears no written script was given to them, just a general direction of what they were supposed to say.
The plot is repetitive, confusing, and boring. It’s less than an hour and twenty minutes long and I nearly fell asleep several times. It's hard to stay awake when you don’t care about anything. None of the characters are interesting and the plot’s not original. It’s a Saw knockoff, complete with lines about “playing a game”, creepy footage on television sets, and weird-looking puppets. The only thing it’s missing is crazy torture gadgets, but those would necessitate talent, creativity, and money. How about a couple of attempted rape scenes instead? And it all comes down to an ending that makes large chunks of the running time completely irrelevant. The puppet master behind these murders is nothing special and their motivation is the embodiment of lame.
When I get rid of a movie, I try and give it a new life. I'll trade it in to a used media store, let my friends take it if they want, I’ll even leave it on the curb for someone to grab or donate it to charity garage sales. The Tomb is going into the trash. There’s nothing here I’d wish to inflict upon anyone. It's just short of an actual crime. If you see it out there, even if the profits are going to a good cause, it's not worth giving The Tomb the satisfaction of being acknowledged. This is one of the worst films you could ever subject yourself to. (On DVD, May 29, 2016)
