i got you a whole flower shop
A Harringrove Valentine's Day fic I wrote this afternoon
present for @shieldofiron and also @lovebillyhargrove
oh and it's on ao3
Steve walks into a florist shop on Valentine's Day but his plans change after he gets a text not meant for him and he finds himself faced with Billy freaking Hargrove looking like every wet dream Steve has ever had in the past fifteen years since he finished high school.
Tumblr media
“Sorry, I’ll be right with you.”
Steve made a vague noise of acknowledgement, too busy staring at the message he’d opened as he’d stepped into the first flower shop he’d spotted.
“Can’t wait to see you tonight baby. I’ll tell Steve I have to work late. Love you x”
He blinked a few times but the words didn’t change. The text was clearly not meant for him. Or maybe it was, he rationalised. That was one way to break up with your boyfriend without having to have the conversation.
He ran a tired hand over his face and put his phone back in his pocket. He wouldn’t need flowers after all. He tried to remember how much stuff he’d left at Jamie’s place during the few months they’d been dating and wondered if there was anything he’d miss if he didn’t get it back.
“I am sorry but it turns out I don’t actually need flowers after all,” he said, his eyes floating over the various buckets of colourful blooms in front of him.
“Am I dreaming or is that you, Harrington?” The voice sounded surprised and familiar and Steve turned around to face its owner.
“Hargrove?” Steve said in shock, stepping closer to the counter. He hadn’t seen Billy Hargrove since graduation fifteen years ago. “What are you doing in Chicago? I always thought you went back to Cali…”
Billy shrugged and Steve took a moment to really look at him. He still had those light brown, almost golden, curls that Steve had always wanted to run his fingers through, piled high in a bun, his face fuzzy with scruff, blue eyes trained on Steve. That part at least was familiar. Steve let his eyes move down, taking in the white tee, tight across the front under the black apron with the shop’s logo on it, Billy’s biceps bulging when he crossed his arms over his chest. Steve’s mouth felt very dry all of a sudden and hoo, was it always this hot in this store?
Billy raised an eyebrow but said nothing. He did, however, run that tongue of his along his bottom lip, another familiar sight, one that resonated inside Steve’s chest, in a place he’d been ignoring for years.
“Um, sorry, didn’t mean to…” Steve fumbled, fidgeting with his fingers. Fuck. He was being so awkward for no reason. He was usually a little bit better at human interactions.
“It’s okay, pretty boy, I know my good looks can be distracting,” Billy replied with a chuckle and Steve felt his face heat up. “To answer your question, my car broke down outside of St Louis and I realised I’d been kidding myself. There was nothing in Cali for me anymore. And I couldn’t leave Max alone with Neil.”
“Ah. I-I heard about him but Max never said—”
“I told her to keep a secret. Couldn’t risk Neil finding out. I made it back to Indianapolis on the Greyhound. Met a nice lady on the bus who offered me a place to stay for a while. Worked my ass off in a bunch of different jobs. Mona and her partner kinda adopted me, so when they moved to Chicago, I followed.”
“That’s why Max went to college in Chicago, isn’t it? Because you were there too?” Steve asked, a few things making more sense now that he knew about Billy.
“Yep. Got her out of the dorms too. She loved it at Mona’s as much as I did.”
Steve smiled. He was glad that Billy and Max had gotten away from his asshole father. He had only managed it himself recently, after more than a decade of working for his dad, being belittled every time Richard Harrington was in the office, no matter how good Steve actually was at doing his job. He’d jumped at the chance when he’d seen that job listing in Chicago and he’d cherished forever the memory on his father’s face when he’d handed in his resignation.
“That’s great, Billy,” he finally replied, and meant it.
“What about you, princess? What brings you to the Windy City?”
“Oh, I live here too. Been here about three years, I think. I don’t have to tell you how good it felt to be able to tell my dad I was leaving and he could shove it.”
“Ooooh, go Stevie! Always knew you had it in you.”
Steve laughed and shook his head. “Took me twelve years but I got there in the end…”
“That’s what matters.” Billy grinned. “So, what are you after? Roses for your girl, on account of the day? Or something more original?”
“Oh, um, I, um…” Steve sighed. “I was gonna get flowers for my boyfriend, but after the text I got before, I don’t think I will.”
“Boyfriend?” Billy was staring and Steve realised he probably needed to elaborate a little.
“Yeah… My best friend Robin helped me realise some important things about myself after high school. She made being queer in Hawkins a lot easier. We were flatmates for ages then she moved to Chicago to be with her girlfriend. You know her, actually, Heather? Holloway?”
“Oh. Wow. Yeah, I remember Heather. So you’re…”
“Bi. Yeah.”
“And you have a boyfriend.” The way Billy said it, it wasn’t a question.
It left a bad taste in Steve’s mouth. He got his phone out of his pocket again and sent Jamie a text saying they were over.
“I had a boyfriend.” Steve snorted. “Whoever he meant to text when he texted me can have his cheating ass.”
“You don’t seem too cut up about it,” Billy said, his eyes roaming over Steve and Steve found that he liked it. All at once, memories of basketball training and all the posturing and looks Billy would send him in the showers and hallways of Hawkins High took on a different flavour. All the pet names Billy used to call him when they were teenagers… the same ones he’d used a couple of times in the past ten minutes they’d been chatting.
“I’d only been seeing him for a couple of months, wasn’t anything serious.” Steve decided to take a chance. He crossed his arms and leaned forward on the counter. “It does mean I am now free tonight…”
Billy mirrored his actions, the smile on his face genuine and warm. “Is that so, pretty boy?”
“Uh huh… yanno, in case anyone was wondering.”
“That’s certainly pertinent information.”
“I thought so.” Steve leaned a little closer, smiling when Billy did too. “What time does this fine establishment close?”
“Right now,” Billy replied, without a glance at his watch as he removed his apron and set it on the counter next to them.
“Really? Won’t you get in trouble with your boss for closing early on Valentine’s Day?”
“I’m the boss and I have a hot date,” Billy said with that smirk that had always made Steve’s blood boil. Only now he could name that emotion for what it was: lust. There was something else in Billy’s eyes, something more magical and durable.
“Anyone I know?” Steve asked, his heart beating double time in his chest.
Billy didn’t reply, instead he rounded the counter and came to a stop in front of Steve with a grin. He cupped Steve’s face with both hands and breached the last inches separating them, bringing their mouths together. Steve moaned, his hands on Billy’s wrists to hold him there. He opened his lips to Billy’s questing tongue the second he felt it, pouring all that he was feeling into the kiss, and getting it back ten fold.
Steve let go of Billy’s wrists to grab his waist and dragged him closer. He couldn’t get enough of Billy, hands roaming up his back and down to cup that ass Steve had been dreaming about for months after high school, sparking his bi awakening.
“Fuck, Billy, I’m sorry it took me so long to find you again,” Steve said, breaking the kiss to catch his breath, resting his forehead against Billy’s.
“S’okay, Stevie, you’re here now,” Billy said, dipping his head for a quick kiss. He buried his fingers into Steve’s hair and locked eyes with him. “Never letting you go now I’ve got you, though, I hope you know that.”
“Fine with me,” Steve said as he wrapped his arms around Billy’s middle, delighted to feel Billy’s hard body against his.
“Happy Valentine’s Day, Steve. I don't know what flowers you like yet, so I got you a whole flower shop.”
Steve laughed as Billy locked up for the night then they went up to the apartment Billy was renting above the shop where Billy cooked them dinner. Then they spent all night in bed, worshipping each other, and it was the best Valentine’s Day Steve had ever had.

Hi! It’s me again I was wondering if I could request another goku + younger sister reader but this time can it be but like them being siblings and them doing sibling stuff (Hc’s please 😚🫶)
HIIII! Yes! If you couldn't tell by now I love doing any platonic goku stuff its so cute and fun to think abt
GOKU AS Y0UR BIG BROTHER!
• Okay so just an FYI, you weren't raised by your big brother. Sorry, chi chi has enough stress with sayains as is, and not enough budget for three mouths again.
•Also, because you didn't hit your head when you landed, you werent exactly good.
•Not to say you were 'Abduct his child' type evil, probably because you're only four years older than Goten, but tou weren't good either. You blew up some stuff, injured people and tried to establish your dominance over the planet, gave Yamcha several heart attacks, and you had No idea who Vegeta was.
•So when they tried to get him to order you around that clearly backfired when his authority was tested by a sassy adolescent.
•"cease this absurd behavior! Your prince demands it!"
•It didn't help that he was wearing the pink shirt with some odd sandels. You looked him up and down before you scoffed.
•"Sorry princess, but I don't listen to stupid men in pink."
•Safe to say, you were a jerk, Goku knocked you out and Vegeta had to sit this fight out or he'd strangle a child.
•It took yall a while to get along, not because of trust issues from Raditz but because you were low-key evil too and you didn't like ANYONE at first.
•Hell it took a while to get you to stop being territorial or just flat out running away.
•Goku was the last person you bonded with, and that was because he kept having to drag you back home with your teeth latched into his arm.
•"Hey there- AH!" he cries out as you lunge at him and sink your teeth into his arm,, he swings his arm around hoping to detach you but its like you're locked on!
•"Ouch! Who just goes around biting people?!"
•Things changed a bit when you guys actually got along though. I guess the biting brought you closer??
•Goku doesn't visit that much, when it isn't involving training. I mean, the guy has work and trains with gods. He's very busy, but he makes time for you.
•Since you're close to gotens age but also a few years older, he likes to make time to pick you up from school to hang out with him and Goten for a bit.
•Its not like he just snatches you up out of school, he knows better, he's a father afterall, but after-school he's always excited to pick you and Goten up.
•"Hey! Ready to go?"
•However sometimes he forgets that he can't fly in public. Easy slip up, can you blame him though? It's as natural as walking!
°"Goku! You're flying!"
•"oh! Shoot!"
•Outings and shopping sprees are rare but he has experience with Chi Chi so he learned how to juggle the bags you throw to him while you go crazy in the mall.
•He doesn't mind it though because its a way to spend time with a non-deadly family member. Although he questions how deadly you are when it comes to a sale.
•"Hey! Thats on sale!"
°"But didn't that lady already cut infront to take it?"
•"That doesn't mean I'm gonna let her keep it!"
•Its like watching deers headbutt eachother. Then you just come back with the biggest grin holding up the shirt you wanted and adding it to the pile.
•When it comes to the food I pray for the people cooking..
•The two of you together have nearly been banned due to how much you eat, one restaurant offered to pay you two to just leave and stop ordering.
•You guys do play fight, at random times too.
•One minute you're getting along and they next, one of you is punching the other in the face.
•Goku bites. It's Canon, we see it all the time so don't think he won't chomp down just because yall are play fighting.
•it might also be payback for when you bit him...

Bumblebee
For an anon reader request - please read for a little more detail. Pairings: Rei x you
--
“I swear to you that I will do everything in my power to stop my precious baby sister from continuing down this path of criminal activity!” Kazuki has tears in his eyes. It’s taking everything in you not to roll your eyes in exasperation, trying to work out exactly how you ended up in this predicament.
Tiredness had made you sloppy and you were furious at yourself. About a week ago, the police had been tipped off to your syndicate’s base. It was petty crime compared to some of the other things you knew happened in the city – pickpockets, shoplifters, occasionally you pulled off a bigger heist but nothing too bad. A disused office building had been home for a good few years, heck, you’d even made one of the old units into what some might’ve considered a bedroom. You’d been out around the regular tourist spots when a text came through from an unknown number. “Base breached. Do not return.” You knew the higher ups would be working on some new accommodation - that is at least if they hadn’t been arrested – and chasing out the rat, but in the meanwhile you had to keep your head down low and put up with sleeping out. Originally, the thought hadn’t phased you – you’d done it a fair few times in your teens on first leaving the orphanage - but the first night you realized how much you’d come to appreciate your office bedroom, knowing you weren’t exposed. The result was patchy half-sleep on cold concrete, arms clamped around the rucksack which held everything you still owned.
You’d been in this particular mall a few times now, taking from different shops to then try and trade things down the market for some petty cash for food. The lack of decent sleep finally took its toll though as you didn’t quite clock the camera right above you as you slipped the perfume into your pocket. It wasn’t long after that than there was the steel grip of the security guard on your shoulder, escorting you to the back office.
“Now, young lady, tell me what this is all about, hmm?” He’s laid out the items you’d secreted into your jacket and bag in front of you. It’s all stuff you can easily resell. “Surely you have a bright future ahead of you that doesn’t involve any of this.”
You realise he thinks you’re much younger than you are and you can work this to your advantage – you’re pushing 24 now, but he’s taken your youthful appearance as a teenager at best.
Cue the waterworks. “I’m so sorry, sir. Please forgive me, I don’t know what I was thinking. It was a silly dare and I don’t know what came over me!”
“A dare?” He raises an eyebrow.
“From some kids at school. I can’t believe I let them press me into something so foolish and illegal. Oh, sir, I beg of you, college applications are so soon, I can’t believe I’ve ruined my life before it’s even begun!” You blub.
 “Now, now”, he tries to soothe. “I think we can write off this as a youthful indiscretion, but I need you to call your guardian to come and collect you.” He slides over your mobile phone that he’s retrieved from your rucksack that he confiscated whilst looking for stolen goods. “You dial, I’ll speak to them.” Shit. Your mind whirs over who to call. You can’t call your boss – you’d never hear the end of it. You can’t call your parents because, well, they don’t exist… There’s one person you could call.
You load up the contact and slide it back over. “Kazuki Kurusu?” He reads.
“Mm. He’s my big brother.”
--
It’s been a few months since you last saw him. Life’s been a little busy. He’s not really your older brother, of course, you met in the orphanage when you were four and he was eight and you’d started following him around like a lost puppy. After you’d apparently pestered him enough, he began to dote on you and the pair of you become inseparable, calling each other brother and sister. The caregivers tried to nip it in the bud. Didn’t you want to be adopted? The interested parties didn’t want two children, they just wanted a sweet little girl, but you weren’t going to be swayed. Any and all attempts at fostering you were swiftly quelled due to your incessant crying about ‘big brother Zuki’.
The two of you had stuck together up until he turned 18 and the state no longer had to care for him. Kazuki was dumped out onto the street where he was recruited - as most kids who didn’t end up being adopted from that particular orphanage - by a local gang who offered shelter and food for participating in their grifts and cons. Contact between the two of you became infrequent for a while. Kazuki wasn’t allowed to visit but he’d try and catch you on the way home from school when he wasn’t on the job. He’d spoken about you coming to live with him when you turned 18, that you’d not end up like him and had a solid start to adult life…
But, when the time came, Kazuki had entered into a whirlwind romance. He was married and there was a baby on the way and you didn’t fit in the picture anymore – and that was fine. It was always a bit of a pipe dream. When you turned 18, your then-boyfriend recruited you in with his local gang – they said you had the perfect, sweet face not to be suspected of any wrongdoing and taught you everything you needed to know about surviving on the streets. You kept in contact, sporadically – meeting up every once in a while. There was some radio silence after his wife and unborn child died and you didn’t press him. Eventually, he popped up again trying to mother you but you were fine, you didn’t need it. You knew he’d moved in with someone and had redirected his nurturing elsewhere.
“Hey, bumblebee!” Kazuki’s cheerful voice came down the line and you cringed. Of course he was still calling you that.
“Mr Kurusu?” The security guard enquires down the phone. “I’m afraid I have your sister in the security office here…”
About 20 minutes later, he appears in the office, looking flustered and wearing an apron but still the same old Kazuki. He’s left the house in a hurry and you feel a slight twang of guilt that despite your sporadic contact, he’ll still drop everything to come to your rescue. You offer a hesitant smile, not quite sure how to play this off. He stares at you, distraught.
“I am so sorry, sir.” Kazuki bows his head to the security guard. “Please forgive my little sister. She’s not normally like this at all, I assure you.”
“Yes, well, she seems a bright young girl.” You have no idea where the security guard is basing this assumption on, but you know Kazuki will run with it.
“Oh, she is! Papa and Mama had such high hopes for her career aspirations but ever since they died, her upbringing has rested on my shoulders and I have failed her as her guardian.” Kazuki begins to sob, holding up his apron to his eyes.
“Sir, please,” the security guard places a hesitant hand on his shoulder. “The store won’t be going any further with this – ah, what should we call it? - indiscretion. I trust you and Miss Kurusu here to make the right decisions from now on.”
Kazuki gains control of his sobs and smiles weakly as he dabs his face clear of tears. You need to congratulate him after, this is some A+ acting he’s developed.
“I swear to you that I will do everything in my power to stop my precious baby sister from continuing down this path of criminal activity! Sister, thank this kind man for his understanding.”
You get to your feet and nod politely. “Thank you. I will never forget your forgiveness and compassion, sir. I’ve truly learned my lesson – seeing the upset on my dear brother’s face is punishment enough.”
“Good.” The security guard smiles and escorts the two of you to the front door, watching as Kazuki leads you to a yellow car – typical Kazuki – and opens the passenger seat door. You get in and he goes over to the driver’s side, waving at the security guard before starting the engine and heading out of the mall’s parking lot. You wait until the building’s disappeared in the rearview mirror before you speak up.
“Thanks for that. Just drop me off anywhere, I can find my way.”
He scoffs. “And find your way to where, exactly?”
“Wherever.” You shrug.
A pause. “Are you sleeping rough, bumblebee?”
You roll your eyes, “I’m a little old for that nickname now, aren’t I?”
“Don’t think you can skirt around the question.”
“Just between accommodations this week – I’ll be fine.” You can’t lie to him, he knows all your tells.
“Mm, you look in need of a good meal and a good night’s sleep – both of which you can get at my apartment. Plus, you can meet your niece.”
“My what now?”
--
“I’m back!” Kazuki calls as he opens the front door to the apartment. You’re not even a step in and you can tell it’s fancy – way fancier than anything you’ve ever stayed. You’ve never been back here before – it’s usually been a café that Kazuki likes to frequent when you did meet in person.
There’s a man sat on the couch, messy black-hair, dressed in shorts and a white t-shirt with a cat on it and he looks pretty cute. He’s absorbed in the video game he’s playing on a wide-screen TV.
Kazuki has his arm around your shoulders again as he enthusiastically introduces you to his room-mate Rei, who pauses his game to stare at you.
He’s easy on the eyes, that’s for sure. “Hi.” You wave.
“You’ve never mentioned a sister before.” He frowns.
“Sure I have! You just don’t listen - bumblebee, remember?”
He stares at you again for a moment then there’s a look of realization. “Bumblebee’s a girl?”
“Yes… Wait, what did you think?”
“I thought it was a bee.”
“You… You thought all those stories I told you about my childhood was me and an actual bee?” Rei nods. “I don’t understand what goes on in your head sometimes.”
“I mean, I’m not really your sister either, Zuki.” You try and shrug out from underneath his arm but his grip remains tight.
“How can you say that? The bond we forged is stronger than any blood ties!”
“Still as dramatic as ever.” You look over at Rei. “How do you put up with this?”
He shrugs, eyes back on the screen. You take a look at what he’s playing and recognize it immediately – Morio Kart. They’d had a games console set up in the communal area in the base – pilfered from a lorry you hijacked and you often spent the night playing. “Ohhh, nice hit.” You compliment as he takes out another racer, sitting down besides him, earning you a smug grin.
--
Rei goes to pick up Miri from daycare whilst Kazuki fills you in on the last few months, though a little bit scarce on some details. That’s Kazuki though, if he thought you really needed to know, he’d tell you. Miri is a whirlwind from the second she gets home from daycare, but it’s clear Kazuki is in his absolute element with her.
The little girl stares up at you in wonder as Kazuki introduces the two of you. “She’s sorta like Papa Kazuki’s little sister, which makes her your auntie. I called her bumblebee when we were growing up.”
“Auntie Bee!” She squeals.
“Er, no,” you try and correct her with your real name, but now she’s running around the apartment, pretending to be a bee, wanting you to chase her. You know you’ve lost the battle before it even begun and Kazuki finds it hilarious. “Auntie Bee it is, I guess.” But, deep down, you don’t hate it.
You eat dinner together, Miri insists you join her Papa Kazuki for a story before bed and you can’t wipe the smile off the face as the two of you come back downstairs.
“You’ve got a real sweet thing going on here.”
“I’ve fallen on my feet, right enough.” He says wistfully, before his face turns serious. “Are you okay, though?” You know he wants to ask what you’re doing for work, how you’re surviving, but he probably doesn’t want to hear the real answer. He can’t contradict when you both live the wrong side of the tracks.
“I’m fine - promise. You do you, I do me.” You wrap your arms around his waist in a hug. “I have missed you though, Zuki.”
“Mm,” he hugs you back. “Let’s not leave it so long.”
He sets you up with spare blankets and a pillow for the sofa, lecturing Rei not to stay up too late and game when you’re trying to sleep, but you’re already a fair few matches deep with him to care and, to be honest, you wouldn’t mind spending some alone time with the man – he’s definitely very easy on the eyes.
“Oh, and Rei sleeps in the bathroom.” Kazuki calls as he heads up the stairs. “Don’t ask.”
“You do?” You raise an eyebrow at the man but he shrugs, taking advantage of Kazuki’s distraction to shoot by you on the second lap. “Hey!”
The matches are competitive, but between them you still find any excuse to put your hand on him – his shoulder, his arm, his thigh… It gets him a little flustered and you find it cute. It’s often up to the final lap as the two of you switch between first and second place. This time, Rei takes it and he playfully sticks his tongue out at you as he takes the win.
“Hm, you just got lucky.” You cross your arms in defiance.
“Sure I did. Another?”
“I think I need some inspiration – what does the winner get?”
“Bragging rights.”
“Nah, I need more than that.”
“Like what?” He sounds puzzled.
“Like…” you bite your lip, you’ve always been a shameless flirt. “If I win, you take me out for pizza.”
“Oh?” His cheeks flush a little, but he keeps his eyes on the game menu. “I guess I could do that.”
“What do you want if you win?”
“If I win, you take me to the arcades.”
“Deal.”
The next championship is neck and neck. You take the first race, full of determination, but Rei brings it back in the second. The final race is a constant switching of first and second, throwing items at each other. The finish line is in sight when your character slips on a banana peel timed perfectly by Rei, sending you crashing off into the side and three CPUs fly ahead of you. You know you’ve lost then – there’s no item blocks left and there’s no way you can get ahead of them all in time. Rei, however, is about to cross the finish line, so just before he can you yank the controller out of his hands and send his character spinning off into the wall. A CPU goes over the line but that’s the last you see as Rei tackles you off the couch.
You’re trapped between his thighs as he snatches the controller out of your hands and drives over the line in a measly fifth. He glares down at you as you grin.
“Sorry, I probably should’ve mentioned I’m a sore loser.”
He says nothing. You try and sit up but you’re firmly wedged between his legs and there’s no give. “Er, can I get up now?”
He grins, slyly. “I think I’ve changed my mind of what I get if I win.”
“Oh?”
“I think the victor deserves a kiss.”
You feel blood rush to your cheeks at that but you’re keen. “Oh, yeah?”
“Mm.”
“See, I’m not sure if you can just change the rules like that right at the end.”
“You tried to cheat, call it a forfeit.” He sits back, finally allowing you to sit up right.
“Hmm. Well, I guess I did, and we never did discuss what should happen if one of us cheated.” You’re leaning in as you speak, getting closer and closer.
“Are you two still up?!” Kazuki hisses in a theatrical whisper from his bedroom door and you bump heads together in fright.
“Ugh… No, no, just going to bed.” You whisper back to the blonde as Rei gets to his feet, sheepishly rubbing his forehead where the two of you collided.
Kazuki’s door closes back over and you smile at Rei. “Busted.”
“Lucky escape for you.”
“My big brother does always have my back…” You step up on your tiptoes and give him a kiss on the cheek. “Goodnight, Rei.”
“Goodnight,” he smiles shyly, heading to the bathroom. You collapse on the couch and sigh contentedly into a pillow.
--
You wake up early to your phone buzzing with a text. It’s a location – it looks like either a rendezvous point to be taken to the new base, or the base itself but you know you need to get there pretty quick either way. You grab a piece of paper from Miri’s colouring pile and write down a message for Kazuki, thanking him for putting you up for the night. There’s a moment’s hesitation before you write your phone number down on another piece of paper, before sliding it under the bathroom door.
“Sneaking out?” Kazuki’s voice chimes from the staircase. How in the hell did he do that without you noticing?
“No, afraid work beckons. I was leaving a note though, see?” You hold up the piece of paper in evidence.
“Good.” He walks over and pulls you into a hug. “Promise it won’t take another trip to a security guard’s office until we see each other again?”
“Mm-hm,” you nod, staring at the bathroom door behind him. “You’ll get sick of the sight of me.”
--
A few days later, as evening rolls in and Miri’s getting ready for bed, there’s a knock at the door and Rei is apparently keen to answer it. Kazuki doesn’t think much of it at first – maybe it’s a game he pre-ordered or something – but he hears more conversation at the door from Rei than he’s used to over the years of living with him.
You’re standing at the door, smiling as Rei puts his shoes on.
“Back so soon?” Kazuki chuckles.
“Actually, Rei and I are going to play some games at the arcade.” You shrug, trying to spin a casual air on things.
“The arcade?!” Miri manages through a yawn, “Can I come?”
“Not this time, kiddo. It’s your bedtime.” Rei ruffles her hair and she pouts.
“We’ll go when you’re more awake, how about that?” You soothe, crouching down to her level and she nods. Kazuki clocks how Rei’s smiling at you and he puts two and two together in alarm.
“Hey, buddy…” he warns, “you are not going on a date with my sister!”
“Mm, not really your sister…” You tease, turning around to head to the elevator. Rei goes to follow you before he pauses.
“It is a date though.” He smirks and the door slams shut before Kazuki can react.
He feels Miri tug at his leg.
“Papa Kazuki, when do I get a sister?”

Oh, how she hated that stupid Oikawa. His stupid face. His stupid cocky attitude. His stupid voice. His stupid smile. His stupid… everything. She wanted to slap that stupid smirk off of his face everytime he would have to borrow something from the second gym that the girls volleyball team practiced in. She just wanted to slap him, period. If she had to hear him say, “sorry to bother you ladies, I hope you aren't busy”, one more time, she would kill him. She’s decided.
God how she hated Toru Oikawa.
“Sorry to bother you ladies, hope practice is going well.” Her blood boiled. There he was. Right on time. The sound of swooning girls followed shortly after his entrance and her hand was getting all twitchy. She turned around to finally see his stupid face and he smiled right at her. Who did he think he was? “Hey, cutie, where’s your coach?” Oh, he’s done it now. “She’s in her office.” She didn't know if she was scowling at him, but she prayed to the lord that she was. “Thanks.” He scooted right past her, the smell of faint cologne being imprinted in the air. All of the girls ran up to her in envy, asking how she was strong enough to talk to him without fainting, but she just ignored them, getting back to practice.
She didn't want Aoba Johsai to just be known for its boys volleyball team. She wanted to be in the same league as them. She wanted other schools to fear not only the boys team, but the girls team as well. She worked for that for years, and sure, the girls team was feared by other girl’s teams, but it just didn't feel the same. She wanted that feeling of going to nationals, the air conditioning in her sweaty hair. But when her third and final year of high school showed up, reality hit. She would never be like the boy’s team. She would never be as good a captain as Oikawa. Maybe that’s why she hated him so much. Maybe that’s why she would shoot him a look every time he entered the gym.
“She’s not in there,” Oikawa walked out from her coach’s office, rubbing the back of his neck. “So you’ll have to do. You’re the captain, right?” She nodded, playing with a volleyball in between her hands. “You don't happen to have any more medical tape, do you?” “Did one of your guys have an injury?” “Uh… no. Just… uh…” Oikawa held his hands out to her, revealing tears on his palms and fingers. Just like hers. “Oh,” she grabbed his hand, looking it over. “I have some of my own tape and band aids and stuff like that. Girls,” she turned to her team, who was somehow still swooning over Toru. “Take ten. I'll be right back.” The girls all nodded slowly and watched as she walked away with Oikawa.
“Sorry about your hands.” She opened her locker, the sun shining on her bright hair. “Oh, it's fine. A lot of practice can do that to you. Volleyballs aren't the nicest of the sports equipment out there.” Oikawa giggled and watched as she pulled out a first aid kit, running over to the nearest bench. He followed and took a seat next to her, a slight breeze coming through the window as the leaves outside turned golden from the sun’s golden hour. “You must practice a lot too, huh?” She looked up and tilted her head. “Sorry?” He pointed down at the bandaids on her fingers. “Oh. Yeah.” “I heard the girl’s team is pretty good this year. Must have a good captain.” He winked at her, making her giggle. “Nah. Well, I mean, we’re good, just nothing like-” “I know what you’re about to say, and don't you dare say it. Don't compare yourself to the boy’s team. We’re not your enemy. Nor are we working together. We aren't even on opposite sides of the court. Listen,” Oikawa’s chestnut glowing eyes looked into hers, sending a warm wave through her body. “You guys are great. And comparing us will be your downfall, got it?” “I know, but you guys-” “Nope! I don't want to hear it. I see the trophies you got from finals last year. Don't even think about talking bad about you or your team. Aoba Johsai has some killer teams, don't you think?” She giggled and finished wrapping up his hand. “Yeah, we do.” He gave her a high five, their bandaged hands matching perfectly together. “Get to nationals, okay, girly? Make the other teams fear hearing the name Seijoh. Even after you graduate.” “That is my job.” “I like your spirit. See you later, okay? Maybe… a date or something?” “Keep dreaming, Oikawa.” “Eh, it was worth a try.” He laughed and walked away.
Another thing she hated about Toru Oikawa.
His charm.

Pale Live Read Part 2. Lost for Words
Sorry this took a couple days, I got busy and then sick.
This girl is named Verona. So that's V presumably. Lady with the hidden face is back and not talking for some reason, but Veeona doesn't seem too freaked out. Is she who gave Verona the instructions for the awakening ritual?
Lucy doesn't seem like she'll be a good practitioner. So far in the phone call she's saying things without thinking about the consequences and that's a bad idea in this universe.
Avery is taking a long time talking to a teacher. Is this a teacher's pet surrogate parental figure deal? Or are we entering teacher's crush territory?
The girls are speculating about if the hidden face lady actually has a horrifying face. My guess is no. I feel like that idea doesn't fit. Like to my mind if an Other has a messed up face that it doesn't show people most of the time, then it's probably going to reveal that face for added dramatic flair right as it claims a victim, or something similar. The ideas tying that kind of Other mean it would probably work better narratively for it to have something like a mask it could rip off to reveal its true face imo, and that matters to the spirits. Like, it's a very well established trope with a lot of flair so I feel like this lady would have been pushed in that direction if the girls were right. It seems to me more like the woman has no face. There's the "faceless" woman in Jacob's Bell but she just lacks facial features, I think this lady's face just straight up doesn't exist, and so, because there's no way to convey that, the spirits contrive to keep her facial area hidden. This was hard to describe and I'm kinda sick so idk how much sense I made while doing it, but based on my knowledge from Pact it's my current thought on this topic that probably doesn't matter very much.
Wow! I hate Verona's dad so much it's unreal. Thank your daughter, asshole! She did the chores he asked, and then he tells her to do more while complaining the cleaning chemicals she used give him a headache.
Oh my fucking God the bra strap comment? This man is not seeing heaven. That Verona is not beating the shit out of him is proof of her restraint. Her leaving the spaghetti out as this petty little thing is amazing too. I'm also a petty person and so I appreciate this representation.
Nevermind, she's thinking badly of  stoners and petty criminals. Also very funny for her to think of other people as idiots without a future when she's about to awaken. Like maybe Pact has biased me but becoming a practitioner does not seem like the best idea if you want to live a long successful happy life.
Okay the most unbelievable part of this so far is that a kid would struggle to get alcohol in a town like this. Ime it is absolutely not hard to get your hands on stuff to drink when you go to a public school in a dead end town.
Wildbow has introduced a rating app kids are using in the story? This feels like a technomancy thing or some Other fishing for victims.
It's the teacher crush thing God dammit. Wildbow I swear to all that us holy this better not be a huge plot point.
There are bloody small children in the woods. Are they related to the Carmine Beast? It made the moon bloody and was bleeding everywhere.
Charles is a real one. Like yeah it's kind of fucked up to Awaken a group of middleschoolers! Also he's forsworn but still showed up to a meeting of Others??? That seems like a frankly suicidal idea.
I'm a big fan of the murder mystery idea but these girls have no idea what they're getting into. Something like that just disappearing almost makes me think of a demon similar to Urr. I doubt that's what it actually is since I don't think Wildbow would jump back into diabolism so early in the story.
Matthew used to be a practitioner it looks like. So he's like Crone Mara or maybe Blake. He seems pretty nice and so I of course distrust him and am guessing he's closer to the Crone Mara end of the spectrum.
The fact that they all made each other's masks, hats, and capes is a cute touch. I do worry that their power might be very fragile though. Doing the ritual not just clothed but in very specific clothes they don't normally wear, plus splitting power between the three? That feels like a recipe for disaster if they're ever forced to practice when taken by surprise. Again, maybe Pact has made me unnecessarily cynical but I don't believe for a second they'll be able to avoid a situation where they are separated and put on the back foot.
Avery's explanation of her mask and why she's doing this is very emotional. Wildbow's managed to make each of the girls' problems resonate in a way lots of media fails to do in general, but especially with characters who are teenage girls. Between this scene, Verona's home life, and the one where Lucy thinks about seeing her mother crying until she noticed she was watching, he's treated their lives and problems with a sense of dignity I really appreciate.
The Hungry Choir is the most suspicious (other than Matthew). The use of the word "choir" is concerning given its connotations with demons and angels. It's something called a ritual incarnate which I don't know much about, but assume is some kind of minor Incarnate defined by very strict rules about how and when it can act. They also didn't seem to bring anything?
Matthew was listed as a host in the notebook chapter which kind of makes sense, but he just said here he trained as a Heartless, so my guess about him being like Mara looks to be correct. He's hosting the darkness from Edith/The Girl By Candlelight, but he also says it was too large and unwieldy for him which seems contradictory. If the goal was just to keep Edith stable would it not make more sense to take her as his Familiar? There's more going on here, and I feel like this relationship is not healthy.
Charles getting forsworn is objectively a very funny way to screw up. Like taking a stand against for profit prisons while drunk then a guy cuts his foot on shattered glass? Incredible.
John and the Choir are candidates for replacing the Carmine Beast apparently. That gives the already suspicious Choir a motive, and they're strong so them getting rid of the Carmine Beast seems possible. It's almost too obvious though.
Also I have to say that having heard the name so much before I started reading I assumed the Carmine Beast would be the main character's patron for a large chunk of the story and that it'd play an almost motherly nurturing role until dying part way through.
John has come dangerously close to harming the girls. I know they said it being on instinct means it might not have broken the deal, but that argument feels flimsy. If one of the girls pressed the issue I'm pretty sure they could've got him forsworn if he'd actually harmed them.
Avery using connections the way she is (even if it messed up her eye) feels like she's being set up to be an enchantress.
Miss says the Choir has no motive but that seems naive. It's a ritual incarnate which apparently means someone made with the hope that it would accrue more power than it cost to make. Could it be the weapon instead of the killer? The person who made it might have wanted the Carmine gone to either take the role themself or have the Choir do it.
Verona's dad continues to be awful. Her thoughts on boys are a fascinating insight into how she thinks about the world, and honestly it's kind of relatable. Her wanting to become Other is a little scary, I can think of one example of a protagonist doing that and it uh didn't go well for him. Granted Verona probably plans to have more control over the process, but that's easier said than done.
The girls experimenting with the gifts is delightful but is going to give me hives. Like stop wasting power like that! You're going to need it. Still, their friendship is great and I love the dynamic.
Rip Gabe I guess. I don't have a ton to say about the ritual other than "yeah, that's fucked up." It targeting people with eating disorders, or drug addictions is another layer of awfulness I didn't expect though. We need to get some practitioners on this to figure out the rules and patterns and drain it of power.
I really enjoyed this first arc! As it went on I found myself making notes less frequently because I just got so sucked into the story that it slipped my mind. The Hungry Choir is horrid even by this universe's standards. My only complaint is that it maybe felt a bit much? Like less grounded somehow than even the war for lordship in Pact or other later arcs where practitioners were really going all out. Granted as an apparently quite powerful Incarnate in its place of power it makes sense it would be able to do this kind of stuff. Also I don't trust any of these Others except maybe the Mare and that's a big maybe. If there’s something I missed or you want more thoughts on just let me know.

Hey bitch, I hope you like it! @eddiesdungeon
Word count: 1.9k
trigger warnings: cringey fluff, friends x lovers not really that much, accidental confession (?) No prove reading because i’m a lazy whore
Going back to my hometown after three years has made me feel some kind of way. Coming back to it where everything and everyone has changed but at the same time everything and everyone just stays the same. The people just have grown older while the buildings look a little bit worn down. Apart from all this Hawkins looked the same as it did three years ago, when  my dad decided that it would be amazing for us to move out of state to New York city, just for better opportunities in life. But things didn’t work out as well as my dad had expected so now we are back in town.
The cold morning air enters my room sending shivers down my spine. It is mid October and the leaves are starting to fall down and some families have already started to decorate their front porches with Halloween decorations. I get ready quickly and go down stairs, where my parents are already waiting for me to have breakfast. We all eat in silence, my mum is mad at my dad so for the last couple of weeks she has been giving him the silent treatment.
When I open the front door cold air hits my face, provoking my cheeks to turn red. My body is filled with anxiety as going back to my old classmates is going to be weird, also having in mind I will have to see Eddie Munson again. My crush ever since I was seven and one of my closest friends, due to me moving away we have barely talked, after a few months we lost contact, so I’m definitely intrigued on what he is doing now.
The drive to Hawkins High is short, too short to even prepare myself to be the “new girl” at a small town high school. There are some people in the parking lot when I arrive, they all stare at me and start whispering, I try to ignore it. My way to the secretary’s office is just the scene from the parking lot but instead of ten people max now is almost the whole school. I walk as fast as I can trying to find my destination, when I crash into someone. We both fall to the floor. What a great start to a new school.
“Holy fuck, I’m so sorry. I didn’t see you” I help her pick her stuff up. When we finally make eye contact I can recognize one of my other friends, Chrissy Cunningham. Her look of surprise lets me know that she has recognized me.
“Oh my god! (Y/N)!” She hugs me tightly. “When did you come back into town?”
“Couple of days ago, I’ve been busy with all the moving in and emptying boxes and all that stuff” I say awkwardly as all her cheer friends are looking at us. `It was nice seeing you again but I really need to get to the secretary’s office and I don't know where it is, so I need to get going '' I rush to help her pick up the last papers that are laying on the floor.
“Let me take you there” she suggests as she locks her arm with mine. “Bye girls!” she says waving at the cheerleaders. Slowly we make our way through the empty halls as the empty. “Soooo” she starts “ how have you been, tell me everything about New york”. We both looked at each other.
“It was great, just too many people “ we both laugh. The secretary’s office is right next to a lab. “ I guess I will see you around?” I ask.
“ Sure! Come and sit with me during lunch today.” She sounds so excited and I Know I can’t say no to my old friend. She walks away, her ponytail moving from one side of her head to the other, in a couple of seconds she makes a turn disappearing from my sight. I knock on the door, a lady opens the door.
“You must be (Y/N) Murphy, right?”she questions, I nod my head. “ Here you go, your time table, your locker number and its combination. If you need more help please come here again and I will try to help you” she smiles at me, I thank her and look at the timetable, French in class 103, just down the hallway.
The morning classes go by super slowly, the only thing on my mind is to go home and sleep. When lunchtime comes, I try to find my locker just to find a group of boys in front of it, not allowing me to even open it.
“If you guys excuse me for a second I really need to use my locker” the all turn around, when I see the doe- eyed boy I’ve been missing for the last three years. “Eddie?” his gaze softens as he realizes who i am.
“Holy shit (Y/N)!” he wraps his arms around me, picking me up and spinning. “When did you come back?” he asks
“A couple of days ago. Sorry for not trying to contact you, I’ve been busy with all the “moving in” shit” I explain. We start chatting, not even caring about eating lunch.
“Do you want to meet up after class? You know to catch up and all that stuff” he asks scratching the back of his neck. “I mean you don't have to if you don't want to”
“ I would love it” I smile at him, but his friends start to complain that they need to do some meeting about a club they run. “ If you are busy I can wait until you finish” he nods and stats walking away
“I’ll be done around 6:30, is that okay with you?” I nod in agreement. He and his friends disappear, mixing in with the crowd of students. I leave some of the textbooks and notebooks in my locker and make my way towards the cafeteria. When I walk inside, Chrissy is waiting for me, we grab something to eat and start walking to where she would normally sit, a table full of basketball players and cheerleaders. After some introductions we all start talking about Halloween, what we are going to be , who is organizing the party and all that relates to it.
After lunch, the last two periods are fun but the time pases slowly. The last bell rings and Chrissy, literally forces me to go to her cheer practice giving me the excuse they need someone to fill up for a girl that has to go to the doctor. I insist that I don’t even know how to dance but she drags me by my arm, almost ripping it off. It doesn’t bother me that much, it is more of cringe that I fear the most, the failing.
The gym is spacious and full of light, cheerleaders are the only ones there. While the others warm up Chrissy and Amber teach me the routine. Some ass movement every now and then but not too scandalous. We spend the next two hours and a half rehearsing and just changing the choreography to make it look as good as possible. I look at the clock above one of the baskets seeing that it is almost six thirty. I excuse myself with the girls and run towards the parking lot. Just in time to see Eddie and his friends coming out from one of the doors. They are laughing, and walking towards their cars and bikes. The three that seem a little bit younger than Eddie leave the first in one old car that looks like it could break down at any time. The two youngest stay with Eddie chatting about something interesting. I slow my pace signing to the boys to act like they don’t see me, they play along and when I’m close enough to the black haired boy I cover his eyes, a smile forms in his face as he turns to look at me.
“Hi there m’lady” he bows. “Ready to spend the afternoon with me?” he says looking into my eyes.
“Hey you two, get a room. Eww” the curly haired boy exclaims.
“Dustin, shut it. I mean it” Eddie tries to be intimidating. The two young boys put their hands up, knowing that they can’t defeat Eddie.
“They are Mike and Dustin” he points at them “ the next additions of Hellfire club” he looks so cute when he talks about what he is proud of.
“Nice to meet you guys” I smile at them, then we start talking when out of the sudden Dustin looks at his watch and starts to freak out.
“Shit shit shit I need to go home I forgot I had to help my mom with my grandma” him and Mike go to unlock their bikes “ See you around (Y/N)” he shouts as they ride away leaving Eddie and I alone.
“ I was thinking we could go to the cinema, like the good old days” he says, and he looks nervous?
“I would love that Eddie” we make our way to Eddie’s van. “Umm Eddie can I ask you something?” he nods “ Why did you stop replying to my letters” I ask. He stops. “ I really don’t understand it and it really hurt me when you stopped replying '' the sadness in my voice is noticeable.
“ (Y/N) I-” he starts.
“Please don’t start with the excuses, just tell the truth. I think I deserve to know why.”
“ I started to think that you would eventually find some new friends and forget about me and I decided to be the one to make the first move just so I couldn’t get hurt by you forgetting about me”. Knowing Eddie, I know how hard it is for him to open up about his feelings.
“Eddie… Why would you think that? You are seriously my best friend. I could never replace you. Like for fucks sake you were my first crush ever, even when I was in New York I would still think about you and your stupid metal bands. And then when I saw you today, all those feelings just came back fuck Eddie, you still look amazing with those brown eyes of yours looking at me like I’m the only girl in the world” Fuck, did I just confess my feelings towards my best friend out of anger?! He looks surprised. “Shit fuck, forget I even said. I should have kept it to myself. Shit I just ruined our frienship fuck fuck fuck” I start to panic walking aroud in circles, he walks towards me, stops me by putting his ring filled hands on my shoulders, I stop locking my eyes with his. His gaze goes from my eyes to my lips and without me realizing he locks our lips together, his hands cupping my face. When he finally breaks the kiss he puts his forehead on mine.
“You didn’t ruin anything because I feel the same way you do.” he locks our hands together. “So, how about we rent some movies and go back to my trailer? You can spend the night if you want to” he asks.
“ That sounds amazing”, and with that, we both hop into his van driving away into the sunset.

I know you said that there may be cameos of Satchel Steve, so sorry if I sound stupid asking this..but-
Is there going to be another part, maybe the final or the epilogue, of this story? I want more and I'm suffering for my dreams to come true but at the same time I don't want to pressure you ':)
Also, I loved. It.
It was really amazing and I was always attracted to the pair Steve & Loki somehow
Really good work 🙌🏼❤
Hey Anon!
You don't sound stupid at all, I'm delighted you were so invested and I really appreciate it, but also a bit sad I didn't give you the ending you craved.
I'm gonna get a bit navel-gazing writer here so...apologies.
I think you're talking about Loki & Steve getting together and having a proper non-ambiguous sexual encounter? Potentially with real feels involved?
So for context, the Schooling Steve series was meant to be a one shot challenge to myself to write something that was basically totally character and dialogue based.
I knew I wanted a virginal Steve and my typical verbose, sassy avenger loki and wanted to see how ridiculously tense I could make it without actually being sexual between them. And I hoped it would be funny, too.
Something about the ingrained mischievous nature of Loki being unable to resist teasing Steve as he reacted to him (or, his 'teachings' as Loki thought) just kind of grew into this will they/won't they sexual tension.
I don't enjoy straight up 'cheating' storylines, so having Y/N complicit in the ridiculousness was fun. Readers can look into the whole duplicate scenario how they wish, that's open to interpretation 😅
A lot of of Steve and Loki's interactions are seen from Steve's horny POV, so as readers we're skewed. He moves from his initial attentions on Y/N to jointly thinking of Y/N and Loki...then briefly the brunette, and then pretty much full Loki. We're never quite sure exactly what Steve wants. Because he doesn't either.
With Loki's POV, he's almost always internally criticising Steve or enjoying his 'light' sexual torment under the guise of help. Turning Steve on without quite acknowledging its him doing it, rather than the images he's putting in his head.
To me the whole saga is a bit of an escapade in farce and ridiculousness and no ones feelings are really hurt. Basically I couldn't see how Steve and real Loki (a non ambiguous ending) could fit that while keeping true to his feelings for the reader (which is how it was set up before I knew it would be more than one part 😁)
Edit:I totally misread this whole ask I think so here is my second response....ive had a very busy day 😂😂😂
There may be an epilogue, perhaps. If I think of one 😂
There may also be drabbles of stupid stuff that happened in between the 'official 5'parts. Who knows....with Satchel the possibilities are endless.
(sorry that was really long huh😂)

[ Venti ] - Female
You ment Venti in 8th grade, and the first time you met her; you were a nerdy loner! But since Venti is Venti, She decided to befriend you. Since she technically knows everyone around the school, she was one of the school's pranksters! And since you being a boy inside a circle; you never actually made any pranks in your previous years.
"uhh.. are you sure this is alright venti?"
You said as you looked at the prank venti was holding, honestly you didnt wanna join but you gotta look out for her; if she gets in trouble of course.
"This is going to HARMLESS, so you dont gotta worry about it!"
She confidently while you meekly nodded as a response, she goes closer to you and put her arm around your shoulder
"you dont need to worry [ Name ] im good at these type of things!"
She said smiling to you, you softly smiled as the female felt her heart beating like thunder. She takes her arm away from your shoulder and went to set up the prank.
after a while of waiting someone finally went over it, and it was your sister; Yoimiya! You rushed to help her as Venti tried to stop you but failed.
"are you okay sis!?"
You said, Yoimiya looked up to you and nodded, she stands up wiping the dirt off of her skirt
"im okay big bro you dont need to worry! That was cool but i would rather not be the victim.."
Your younger sister said, you nodded as she left; Venti comes from behind "Uhh.. sorry about that [ Name ].."
She guilt-fully said, you turned around and put your hand and your chest.
"its okay Venti!"
Your smile lead a mark on the young lady's heart and brain, and she felt heat rising through her cheeks.
"thank you.."
She softly said as the bell rang, you perked up and grabbed Ventis wrist and began to run to your classrooms..
That was the only memory Venti has until you switched schools, she was lonely and sad when you werent around but.. she has to deal with it, shes in collage now and she got back to that misery highschool memories again.. she was minding her business until the door knob twisted and turn.
She looked as the door opened by itself, revealing a person.. no a man wearing a oversized hoodie and a black mask with some luggage on him, Venti stood up and went to that man.
"hello sir, are you looking for the dor-"
She said, she was interrupted by the man,
"Are you Venti De Carmen?"
(Its a made up name i made involing ventis constellation in game)
"A-Ah yes thats me! Why do you ask?"
The lady said, tilting her head looking at the mysterious man, until they spoke up
"ah.. i missed you so much.."
The man revealed himself, taking off his hood and mask. Revealing what Venti missed the most.. [ Name ]..
"i-is that really you?!"
The woman jolted and immediately hugged the person standing infront of her.
"Yup its me, i missed you alot.."
The person nodded at he pats the short female's head. As her sobs were heard from him, as the taller male shush her cries..

You Will Be Found
by from-saturn-to-mars on ao3
Peter gets hurt, and he doesn't think anyone will help him. Irondad and Spiderson fluff ensues.
Skittles or M&Ms. M&Ms or Skittles.
Peter glances back and forth, trying to make a choice.
“What do you think?” He asks MJ. She rolls her eyes. He dragged her to the store to get stuff for May, but she hasn't exactly been helpful so far.
“Chocolate is better,” She finally says. Peter grabs the M&Ms.
“Can I go now? My photography class is soon,” She reminds him for the third time.
“Fine, go. Thank you for the help,”
“Whatever, nerd,”
Peter swears he sees her smile a bit before she walks out of the store.
***
Peter has everything ready.
May’s favorite snacks cover their table, her favorite movie is all cued up, and he  brought all the pillows and blankets into the living room. May has been so busy lately, and today was her first night off in two weeks, so Peter is determined to get it all perfect.
Her job as a nurse is so stressful for her. She helps so many people every day, and Peter is so proud of her, but he wishes she didn't have to work so much. They barely see each other, and all so they can scrape their rent.
Peter decides to get ahead on school work while he waits for her to get home. Once he’s struggled through his English essay and half-assed his language homework, he scrolls through his secret Tumblr blog, then flicks through Youtube.
May still isn't home.
Finally, May calls him. Even before he picks up the phone, Peter knows she won't be coming home tonight.
“Hey, May,”
“Hi, Peter. I’m so sorry, but I dont think I'm going to be able to get off work. We didn’t have anything planned, right? Could you go stay at Tony’s?”
Peter looks around at the apartment, lit up with fairy lights that he went to three different shops to find. She sounds so guilty.
“No, we didn’t have anything. Its okay, May, i don’t want to bother Tony, i’ll just hang out with Ned or something,”
“Thank you, baby. I love you,”
“Love you, May,” He hangs up and drops the phone. Almost immediately, he feels the tears coming. He feels selfish, because May is doing so much good and all he wanted to do was watch old sitcoms with her.
He considers calling Tony, but he doesn't want to be a bother. He’s probably busy anyway. And why would anyone want to spend time with someone like Peter?
He shakes the thought out of his head and decides to go patrolling.
As soon as he’s swinging above the city, Peter feels better. The cool air rushes around him and his whole body fills with adrenaline. Something about being Spider-man, instead of Peter, is so freeing.
“Karen?” He shouts above the deafening wind.
“ Yes, Peter ?”
“Play my ‘Crime-fighting’ playlist, please,”
The music serves as the perfect background noise for patrolling, and keeps alut any thoughts of May or Tony or anything else.
Peter webs up two robbers and gets a cat out of a tree in the next hour.
The sun is setting and Peter is still wincing from the cat’s viscous claws when he sees the man in the alley.
***
The man is cornering a lady by one of the dumpsters. She’s clutching a small purse and is dressed in a fancy dress and heels. He has a knife pressed to her throat.
“Hey, stop it!” Peter yells down. The man jerks back, away from the woman. The robber looks between her and Peter. Peter jumps down next to him and quickly shoots a web at his arm, pinning him to the wall, before he turns to the woman.
“Are you all right?” He asks kindly. She's shaking and there are mascara streaks on her face, but she nods bravely.
“Okay, that's good. What's your name?”
“Estelle,” She whispers.
“Okay, Estelle. Will you be able to get home by yourself?” She nods.
“Good. I’ll take care of this guy. I suggest getting some pepper spray or something like that, in case this ever happens again,”
“I will. Thank you, Spider-man. I’ll never forget this,”
“Happy to help, ma’am.”
She runs out of the alley.
Peter turns back to the robber, ready to web him up more and call the police, but…. he’s gone. The webbing on the wall is ripped up.
 “Oh, sh -” is all he manages to get out before the robber lunges at him and forces the large knife directly into his stomach.
Peter drops to his knees.
He’s been shot at, beat up, and almost run over, but he’s never been stabbed before.
It hurts.
The blood starts coming out slowly, thick and dark. Peter’s hands are soon slick with it, and he almost gags from the metallic smell.  Peter slumps onto his back and stares up at the sky. He almost asks Karen to call May, but then he remembers.
Tony would definitely be mad at him. How stupid could he be? He should have webbed up that guy better. He should have called the police first .
Peter’s vision starts to get darker. He sobs once, but it hurts so much that he doesn't dare do it again. The effort of keeping in everything almost makes him combust.
No one is coming to get him. And he knows it's his fault.
Peter lies on the cold stones, all alone, and he takes his last breath, thick with the smell of blood
Peter watches the sky darken until the blackness takes over his whole head
Peter drifts off to sleep, and he knows he wont wake up
The dark spots in his eyes get bigger and bigger. His stomach burns, burns, burns, and it feels like his whole body is going to go up in flames.
The roaring in his ears gets louder and louder-
Wait.
The roaring suddenly stops.
“...Kid?” Someone asks from above him.
Peter feels someone touch his shoulder and he opens his eyes.
“Mr…Stark?” His voice is so quiet, but it takes so much of his energy to say that much.
“Oh, kid. Why didn't you call anyone?”
“I…..didn’t think anyone would come. May’s… working. Didn’t want to bother you…..”
“Peter, buddy, stay with me. You will never bother me, okay, I promise,” Mr. Stark's voice is shaking, but Peter doesn't know why. He feels likes he’s floating,
The spots are getting bigger. Peter watches them bloom and shrink.
“---Peter? Peter! Stay awake for me, okay? I’m taking you to the tower,”  “Mmk,” Peter agrees. His stomach hurts.
“Okay, okay, we’re here. You’ll be okay, Peter, just stay awake ,”
“How did you find me?”
“Karen sent out a distress signal. I programmed it in, just in case.”
“Thank you, Tony,”
Peter falls asleep.
***
When he wakes up, the sun is setting, and he’s confused.
Didn’t this already happen?
“What…?” He asks, feeling groggy and tired and sore. He looks down.
His torso is wrapped in bandages and there are tubes connected to his arms. The room is white and smells like cleaning supplies.
Tony is asleep in the chair next to him.
“Mr. Stark?”
The man jerks awake, looking around, until his eyes land on Peter.
“Oh, god, kid,” Tony breathes. He slumps back in his chair and lets out a sigh of relief.
“How long was I asleep?”
“Two days. Don't worry, your aunt knows everything,”
“Two days…what happened?”
“You had to have surgery. The knife didn't pierce any organs, but you still lost a fair bit of blood. I…I found you in an alley, bleeding out. You got yourself stabbed,”
Peter hangs his head. He knew Tony would be mad.
“I’m so sorry,” He can feel tears leaking from the corners of his eyes, “I didnt web this guy up right and he got free. I did’t realize until it was too late,”
“Wha- Peter, you got stabbed. I’m not mad at you, I was scared. I dont like seeing you hurt, kid,”
Peter looks up. Tony isnt mad at him?
“Oh…….”  Peter says sheepishly.
Tony chuckles a little bit and shakes his head, “How are you feeling, Pete? Do you need anything?”
Peter yawns. “I think I'm gonna sleep a little bit more?”
“Okay, bud. Get your rest. I’ll be there when you wake up,”
Peter nods and leans back on his pillows. A wave of exhaustion sweeps over him, and he drifts off again.

You were bored out of your mind at your work clicking your pen obnoxiously, suddenly there's an explosion, you fly forward landing on ur chest and chin, scraping your chin, there's a huge monster that looks like a wad of melted clay with tentacles, it goes to grab your leg, you stab it with your pen on instinct, it instantly lets go of ur leg, then it explodes showing, a man in a grey suit with a white shirt and black tie holding a gun that looks like its from the comics you read pointed at where the monster was, he walks towards you holsters his gun and sticks out his hand to help you up. You take his hand and pull yourself up to your feet, "you should clean that", he says calmly and seriously with a slight nod towards your chin, "what..." you mumble still in shock from the fact you just saw a monster, "ur chin, it's bleeding quite profusely", he says with a matter of fact tone, you wipe ur chin, it burns slightly you look down at your hand which has blood on it now, you wipe it off on ur pant leg. "Now if anybody asks" he glances around "this was a gas explosion" he says nodding to you slightly then leaves, not before giving you a business card.
***a week later***
After you had lost your job and hadn't found a new one and your half of the rent was over due, you go to the weird business thingy, you walk in and get greeted by a snarky lady "hey hot stuff" she says sarcastically "I knew you'd come" the strange man smiles emerges from the shadows above "what? How?" You ask with a quizzled tone as you look up at him. He walks down the stairs slowly "I sorta blamed the "gas explosion" on you" he says nonchalantly with a faint shrug. "can you just tell me who the hell you two are?" You snap slightly "well we're a temp agency that deals with... let's just say, exotic problem" he puts air quotes on "exotic problems" "you can call me the middleman, and that ray of sunshine behind you is Ida" he smiles as Ida rolls her eyes "yea ray of sunshine all right" you scoff "don't push your luck sweetheart, I'll kick your ass" she quips back as she walks away "welcome to the team Y/N" he smiles brightly and goes in for a handshake, "How do you know my name?" You ask confused "I work for the government"
***To be continued***
Hey guys, I hope you all liked this, I'm sorry it came so late, I just have a lot on my plate (school, youth group, friends, etc etc)

Chapter 4
“You have a call from an inmate at the Washington D.C. Correctional Facility. To accept these charges, please press 1. To decline-,” you punched in the 1.
“Hey Spencer,” you greeted him.
“How did you know it was me?” he grinned.
“There’s not too many prisoners calling me, believe it or not,” you teased.
“I was calling to see if you could do me a big favor,” he spoke.
“What’s up?”
“My lawyer has told me that JJ told her my mom isn’t doing so well. She’s in a facility for her schizophrenia and Alzheimer’s,” he informed you.
“How can I help?” you asked.
“Could you bring Callie to go see her? I really think a familiar face could do a lot of good for her.”
“Of course, I’m 5 minutes away from her school. We can head right over,” you stated.
“Thank you so so much. Also, she doesn’t know I’m in prison so tell Callie just to tell her I’m away on a case. She’s in a fragile condition so it’s best to just say yes to everything she asks,” Spencer explained.
“Will do. If you are able to stay on the line for a few more minutes, you can say hi to Callie,” you told him.
“I was the last in line so I should be able to. I’ve got 6 minutes left,” Spencer said.
A bit of an awkward silence filled your car.
“So…are there any more injuries I need to attend to before work tomorrow?” you asked.
“No, I’ve got some help,” Spencer spoke vaguely.
“Okay, that’s good, I guess,” you pulled the car to a stop as Callie hopped in the passenger seat, “Your dad is on the phone, Callie.”
“Hi Dad!” she greeted.
“Hey sweetheart. How’s it going?” he asked.
“Really good. At soccer practice today, Coach told me I’m going to be a starter next game, she beamed.
“That’s amazing! I wish I could be there to see it,” Spencer frowned slightly.
“Which is why I bought a camcorder so I can record the whole game for you to watch later as well as other things you may be sad to miss,” you said.
“Y/N, as much as I appreciate all you do for us, you need to stop spending so much money. I feel bad, I’ll reimburse you as soon as I’m out.”
“Spencer, I’m a doctor who rarely goes out and my closest friend is a cat. I have some money to spare,” you assured him.
“Why are you going left here?” Callie asked as you made a turn that wasn’t on your usual route home.
“Your dad wants you to visit your Grandma,” you replied.
“Callie, she just needs a familiar face so talk to her about your new school, soccer, anything but me going to jail,” Spencer explained, “Okay, I have 30 seconds left. Bye, love you, sweetheart!”
“Bye, Dad! Love you too!”
“Stay safe!” you added.
-
You walked up to the receptionist's desk with Callie, “Hi, she’s here to see Diana Reid.”
“Hi Callie, long time no see! No Dr. Reid today?” she asked.
“No, he’s away on a case,” you smiled politely.
“Callie, she’s in her room, dear,” the receptionist directed you down the hall.
Once you were outside the door, you stopped, “I’ll wait out here. Remember, your dad is on a long case. You are staying with the LaMontagne’s. And just agree with the stuff she says to not upset her,” you reminded Callie, “I’ll be right out here when you’re done.”
Before you had a chance to sit down in the waiting room, the door swung open.
“Grandma!” Callie exclaimed.
“My dear Callie,” she hugged her.
She looked up at you, “Is this who I think it is?”
You thought back to Spencer’s words.
She’s in a fragile condition so it’s best to just say yes to everything she asks.
“Um yes?” you answered.
“Callie’s mom! Oh my! I haven’t seen you in ages. I forgot what you even looked like, I remembered you differently. Forgive me, dear, could you remind me of your name?” she asked.
You looked to Callie for help but she looked just as confused as you and shrugged. She must not know either.
“Y/N,” you extended your hand for her to shake.
“What a beautiful name,” she smiled, “Come in! Come in!”
“So Callie, how has my favorite granddaughter been?” she asked.
“I’m your only grandchild, Grandma,” Callie playfully rolled her eyes, “I’ve been really well! Y/N-I mean Mom actually got me into a better school and I’ve been keeping busy with soccer and clubs and hanging out with friends.”
“That’s wonderful to hear! Y/N, how are you doing?” she turned to you.
Shit. What the fuck were you supposed to say?
“I’ve been well,” you simply stated with a nervous smile.
“Are you and Spencer dating again?”
I suppose you had to agree to this too.
“Yes, we are,” you nodded.
“Well, I hope you are back for good this time,” she stated.
That seemed kind of back-handed but maybe deserved, you didn’t know Callie’s mom’s backstory. You just continued to nervously smile through the rest of the visit as Callie caught up with her grandma.
-
“Well that was awkward,” you sighed as you got back into the car after the visit, “I need a milkshake.”
Callie was silent all the way to the drive-thru and as you ordered two large chocolate milkshakes and fries.
Finally, she spoke as you parked the car in the parking lot to eat, “I mean you’re more of a mom to me than my own mom. Dad never really told me much about her. She must have left when I was a baby because I don’t remember her at all.”
“I’m sure your dad has his reasons for not telling you but you must know that her leaving wasn’t your fault at all,” you told her.
“Who would leave a baby and my dad?” she teared up.
“I don’t know, honey,” you pulled her in for a hug, “It was her loss though whoever she is because she didn’t get to see what an amazing girl you have become.”
-
“Reid, visitor,” the guard called out.
Please let it be Callie and or Y/N, Spencer prayed.
He needed a ray of sunshine in his otherwise completely dark week. He didn’t want it to be the team or his lawyer asking if he remembered anything else because he didn’t. He couldn’t.
He slumped out of bed and let the guard cuff him on the way to the visitor room. His pace quickened when he saw you waiting there for him, just as beautiful as always.
You smiled at first when you saw him but it morphed into a frown when you saw fresh bruises forming.
“Spencer, I thought you said you had help,” you whispered.
“Apparently not all of the time,” he mumbled.
You bit your bottom lip worriedly, “Well, I brought my med kit.”
You got up and started to inspect his face.
“How did the visit with my mom go?” he asked.
“Good, I guess,” you replied.
“You guess?”
“She saw me before I went to the waiting room. I said yes to everything she said but that included her thinking that I was Callie’s mom and that we were dating,” you grimaced.
Spencer sighed, “Oh god.”
“I’m sorry! I didn’t know what to do,” you apologized.
“No, no, it’s not your fault. You were just doing what was told. Did Callie have questions?”
You nodded.
Spencer ran his hands through his hair, “I knew this day would come but I’m still not prepared. I just avoid thinking about it at all costs.”
“Do you want to talk to me about it and maybe I can help you put the right words together,” you offered.
“Um okay, her name was Austin. I met her on a case. She was a bartender. We were long distance for a bit. She got pregnant early on in the relationship. We decided to try to make it work. She moved in with me in D.C. and had Callie. When Callie was about 4 months old, she got overwhelmed and just left…just like that. I went to the park with Callie and came back to find all of her things gone and a note that just said ‘sorry’. I haven’t heard from her since. We were trying to force a happy ending that wasn’t there,” Spencer finished.
“Well lucky for Callie, she has one amazing dad and that is more than enough,” you reassured him.
“And a pretty kick ass foster mom,” Spencer smiled.
“I try my best,” you grinned.

182 Centimeters | Tall!F!Reader x Surprise
Tumblr media
A great boon has been bestowed upon Aoi Todo. First, he got to meet Takada in person. Second, he gained a brother. Third, he was able to fight a special grade all in one month.
Is there anything else that could make this trip perfect?
Todo didn't think so until he lays eyes on you, standing in the middle of the hallway with luggage tucked under one arm and the other holding onto a rolling suitcase. He remembers now about Mai mentioning a late edition transfer student who was going to be joining in the school games a little late. He only wishes Mai had warned him about the other thing about you. The fact that you are an amazon in the flesh.
"She has to be 187," Todo thinks upon first seeing you and sizing you up from a respectable distance. "No, she's definitely closer to 185. Definitely, 185," he corrects as he tries to measure you by judging how far your head was away from the top door frame. When he glances down at your feet, he realizes his stupid mistake and smacks himself on the forehead. "I'm such an idiot. I forgot about her shoes." Taking your soles into account, he finally narrows down your height range. You have to be 182cm. An even 6 feet. That makes you taller than even Takada!
Todo's eyes widen upon the realization.
You had half his attraction factor right there; and with his help in training, you would definitely have the second half. He knows plenty of exercises that would make your ass look great and have the rest of your body strong enough to toss any curse. You guys could make training into dates, and dates would lead to the two of you making kissy faces. Aoi can already picture it. Naturally, you'd be admiring him, shirtless and glistening with sweat, unable to take your eyes off him. Then, you'd grow embarrassed when he would call you out on it and try to look away like you were never staring in the first place. Luckily for you, he wouldn't mind if you wanted to look at his chiseled chest a little while longer. Or better yet, touch it.
Todo isn't sure what he's done to deserve such luck. Perhaps the world is rewarding him for finally breaking his record of 1000 sit-ups in an hour or maybe it's the limited-edition lucky Takada-chan charm that arrived in a mail a week earlier working its magic?
Either way, this might be the best year of his life, Todo decides.
That is until he hears a familiar voice.
"Hey there! How are you doing?" Yuuji asks loudly as he walks up to your person. Todo should've known. Of course, his brother would sense best girl material walking into the building.
"My name is Yuuji. What's yours?"
"I'm (Name). I'm a new student here. I'm a little lost actually. Could you help me out?"
Even your voice sounds so cute! You were so perfect.
That means Yuuji had no chance with the way he was doing things now. Despite Todo wanting you for himself, he could never leave his brother to make such an embarrassment of himself. If the two of them are to battle for your love, it has to be a fair battle.
"Yeah, the dorms are thi—" Yuuji yelps as he's suddenly tugged away from you and dragged around the nearest corner, leaving you in a confused state where you stood.
"What’s the big idea?" Yuuji asks, breaking free from the grasp that held him.
"I'm trying to save you, brother! What do you think you're doing walking up to a woman like that so casually?" Todo asks.
It takes Yuuji a few seconds to realize that Todo meant you were the woman that couldn't be so casually spoken to since he's fairly sure you're a first-year like him. "I'm pretty sure she's the same age as us, dude."
This is worse than he thought. He's definitely going to have to give Yuuji the rundown on how to properly ask a girl out. "That doesn't matter. She's still a lady that requires finesse if you're going to try to ask her out," Todo says.
Sadly, they are too busy in their discussion to notice you getting impatient for Yuuji to return or to notice another one of your classmates passing them and heading in your direction. You are just thankful to finally have someone help walk you to your dorm and not ditch you instead.
For the rest of the day, Yuuji is stuck with Todo lecturing in his ear. The first time being at the baseball game against the Kyoto school.
"First, you need to set the mood. And by mood, I mean you need to get her attention on you. Do something to impress her without her knowing you're trying to impress her," Todo instructs as you round home base on long legs, which Todo claims is made for a goddess. You were able to get a score for the team thanks to Fushiguro's sacrifice bunt, and the two of you take a seat in the dugout.
"Shouldn't you be helping your team?" Yuuji asks Todo after seeing him compliment your score. Todo sighs. Obviously, Yuuji needs more lessons.
Eventually, Yuuji steps up to the plate for his turn. Naturally, he hits a home run. As he rounds home, he sees you applauding loudly. Your eyes perfectly on him. It definitely feels good to have a cute girl's attention, and Yuuji realizes that he did really want to ask you out. He wonders if Todo thinks that's a good way to set the mood.
The next time Todo decides to instruct Yuuji is after they all take their showers and decide to rest up before dinner. "Next, you need to leave a letter under her door. Something to pique her interest and make her want to meet up with you."
Luckily, Yuuji has seen this before in anime. "Right, right. I heard of that actually." He easily drafted a letter and slid it under your dorm door. It sounds like you're talking to someone else on the other side so Yuuji hopes you'll see it in time so the two of you can meet up in fifteen minutes.
"Finally, make sure the place you meet up is scenic," Todo says, nodding his head and closing his eyes to repeat the steps in his head as he follows his brother to the school's courtyard. Impress? Check. Letter? Check. Scenic meet-up place? Check.
It isn't until he feels Yuuji's hand on his shoulder and a quick thanks that Todo realizes his mistake. Yuuji rushes away from him to the other side of the courtyard where you're waiting with the letter in hand.
"My name is Yuuji. I don't know if you remember me from class."
"Oh, yes, I know! You hit that homerun. It was really great."
Todo stands in shock.
...He was so busy trying to teach that he actually forgot to pursue you first!
"Really? Thanks! I was just trying to make sure I actually hit it. I wasn't expecting it to go so far." Yuuji laughed. "So, (Name), I was wondering if you wanna go out together?"
Todo could cry. Actually, he already feels the tears coming down his face, but his brother could at least be happy. And if his brother is happy, that's all he needed!
"I'm sorry," you say sweetly. "I only showed up because I didn't want to stand you up, but the truth is I already like someone, and I wouldn't feel comfortable going out with someone when I have a crush on another person."
Todo's ears ring with your words. You already like someone!
"Oh, well, that's too bad, I guess. Thanks for telling me," Yuuji says with a disappointed yet understanding smile while Todo finds the opportunity to scoot in the middle of your conversation.
"Excuse me but your crush wouldn't happen to be on me by any chance?" he asks, hopeful.
You force a smile onto your face and tilt your head. "Sorry...Have we met?" you ask, nervously.
Todo gasps as he feels his world crashing down. Your date. Your marriage. Your kids. All gone, and it’s all black in his memory after that. The next thing he can recall is sitting in the eating area with Itadori. He remembers this heartache once before. "It's just like with Takada-chan..." he mumbles heartbrokenly.
"I told you already. We never went to the same middle school, and you never confessed to Takada," Yuuji grumbles, but Todo knows that Yuuji is only trying to make him feel better. He is so lucky to have such a good brother.
"Who...Who do you think it is anyway?"
Yuuji pauses.
He actually wonders that as well.
Then, they hear your voice ringing through the dining hall. Immediately, both sets of eyes are on you.
"Fushiguro-kun, I wanted to thank you for helping me get settled into the academy. My mom gave me a buy one, get one free for a sushi place for when I made some friends, so...I was wondering if you wanted to be my plus one?"
Then, Yuuji finally gets it. He had been ignoring the small conversations happening around him the entire time thanks to Todo's interruptions.
The Hall.
"Excuse me. I'm looking for the dorms. Gojo-sensei was supposed to show me, but he got sidetracked so I've been sort of left on my own."
"Of course, he did. Geeze, that guy." Megumi sighs. "You can follow me. I'll show you where some empty rooms near the other girls are."
"Thank you so much! I'm (Name) by the way."
"Fushiguro," he states plainly and simply as you struggle behind him with your luggage. "Is that stuff heavy? Want me to help you carry it?"
”Yes. My arms got numb while I was waiting. Thank you so much!”
The Game.
"Out!" Gojo says. Fushiguro rounds first base to head back to the dugout, but you at least made it home to score. You head to the dugout as well.
"That's too bad, Fushiguro. You'll get it next time," you say, sitting next to him.
"As long as Kugisaki made it to second and you made it home then it's fine. I'm not really too hyped up on winning anyway."
”Oh. I was really looking forward to seeing you get one.”
”Too bad. Guess you’ll have to wait,” and by “wait” Megumi had meant probably not ever but you laughed anyway even though you had got what he meant.
”I don’t mind waiting.”
The Dorms.
"Kugisaki-san said you could summon different shikigami animals."
"That's true."
"Would you mind showing me sometime? I love animals."
"What is your favorite?"
"I really like rabbits. Are you able to summon those?"
"Not at the moment, but I’ll show you when I learn it. How do you feel about dogs instead?"
”That cute dog was yours? That’s amazing.”
And now.
"Yeah, sure. I wasn't really in the mood for anything at school anyway," Fushiguro agrees, and your face lights up with a glow that could rival sunshine. Yuuji thinks if he squints he can see the anime hearts starting to dance over your head but Fushiguro didn't seem to mind.
Itadori could almost laugh. That's a new record in anyone ever befriending Fushiguro. The two of you must have hit it off really well. Yuuji smiles. In that case, he couldn't be upset. That must mean fate has something in store for you guys, and he didn't want to get in the way. "I guess girls really do like that cool, quiet type."
Meanwhile, Todo is crying in defeat. How could a woman like you like Fushiguro?
"He's so boring though..."

imaaaaagine a world like that..can you?
-
in which you and harry are exes, but still remain good friends when you’re always there for each other. both of you can’t help but reminisce…in your head.
a/n: super sorry i haven’t written in FOREVER!! been crazy busy with school (still am) and i will get back to the writing grind when i’m not as busy, with that being said this is just a quick thing i was thinking of. also, no hate to olivia and harry’s relationship at all. pr or not, both deserve respect and anything written in this piece is solely for writing purposes only. no hate will be tolerated toward an individual. we’re all human.
-
it happened when you were on your way home from dinner with your friends. a call from harry. this wasn’t out of the ordinary for harry to call you, being exes and all. you both apologized after the breakup and agreed that you both couldn’t let 5 years of love, being close with each other’s families, and a pet cat all go to waste. you agreed upon being friends with him. still hang out here and there after the breakup, acting all platonic. you can’t help but have a glimmer of hope its a call wanting to start a relationship again.
“hello?” you said, one hand on the wheel, other holding your phone.
“hi love, sorry s’a bit late, was wondering if i can come over. it’s about olivia.” harry says. still sending you butterflies when he said the simple yet warming term of endearment. but once he said olivia, your heart dropped.
she’s beautiful, confident, and makes your harry happy from what the tabloids portray. the last time you and harry spoke was before he went off to LA, filming for don’t worry darling, a movie his new lover produced. still a few texts since then like “happy birthday!” “congrats on the grammy,” or “how’s the cat?” you two always saved catching up for in person. it was just your thing you kept during the 5 year relationship and after. it keeps things more meaningful at the time, rather than texting or quick phone calls.
“ah, olivia. isn’t she my replacement?” you teased while laughing. you hear a burst of giggles from the other end of the line. god you missed hearing that everyday.
harry on the other end of the line, heart aches a bit hearing you say that. no one could ever replace you. ever. you are so special to him. if only it wasn’t for his team making it difficult for him to ease down on touring for a bit for you. you asked for one thing from harry, which was to start settling down. you both were only getting older and the talks of marriage and kids were frequently becoming the topic of discussion with family. a year and some after the breakup, which happened to be during quarantine, where he had so much time on his hands without you, he reflected on what could’ve been and how stupid he was for letting you go. you were always so patient with him. going to his shows, god awful dinner parties with industry people, changing your work schedule just to fit into his. you asked for one thing. and instead of fighting for you with his team, he instead sided with them, and let you go.
teasing not dying down, harry goes, “someone keeps up with me in the tabloids, eh?”
it’s the fact that he’s not wrong. you remember that tabloid very well. when the first pictures of harry and olivia came out in an article titled, “harry styles and olivia wilde new romance? is y/n replaced?”
your heart was hurting.
“of course i am. keep having to make sure my name is finally out their mouths.” you joke. “i’ll be home in about 15 minutes if that’s okay?”
-
you pull into the driveway already seeing harry sitting on your porch chair. he waves at you and you get out of the car, walking up to him. he stands up and greets you with a bear hug.
“missed you, y’look nice. where’d ya head out to?” he asked, hoping and praying you weren’t out on a date looking like that. he knows you only wear a red lip when its date night. his mind filled with jealousy at the thought of you with someone else. whereas he has no right being there are pictures of him kissing, cuddling, and whispering to olivia on a yacht in italy. all for the cameras. his stomach turns. that was supposed to be you and him. on a yacht on italy. except leaving the display of affection for the bedroom.
“on a date” you say blatantly.
his heart drops. and lets you go from the hug. lying through his teeth he says, “ah really? happy for ya, you have to tell me about it, hope it was with a good bloke.” he says lightly.
“i’m kiddingg, was out for dinner with friends. mel got engaged by the way! was celebratory dinner for her.” you say, unlocking the door, letting harry in.
harry sighs in relief. “that’s good! m’happy for her, pass on my congratulations.” harry follows you into your kitchen, sitting down on the counter stool, watching you making his favorite “calm down” drink, loving that you remembered how he likes it. he didn’t even have to ask you to make it. you just know its what he needs right now. he can’t help but ponder that it should have been you. it should be your friends out for your celebratory dinner for your engagement with him.
you pass him his tea, knowing he’ll only take a few sips of it yet keep it in his hold for warmth. you were on the other side of the counter across from him, making a mini cheeseboard you two can snack on while talking.
“so..what happened?” you ask, heart not ready if you can handle what he’s about to say about his new lover.
“s’just so complicated. originally it was supposed to be a pr stunt for the movie. but now i don’t know how the pr team messed up so badly but they did. no one is really believing it. everything was executed poorly. it sucks because it’s her team conducting everything which means i barely have a say in it. i look like the bad guy being portrayed as a home wrecker, and she’s not doing anything about it! s’like she’s enjoying it. the kissing, the night outs, etc. she knows that if my team did have a say, it would have been over a while ago.” he breathes out. he’s been wanting to rant to someone for so long about this. he also just wants you to know that he’s not into her. it’s all for show. he’s still all about you. he wants to make that crystal clear.
you nod your head listening to everything he’s saying. body feeling uneasy filled with jealousy when harry says she’s enjoying the intimacy they have to do for show.
“well, did you talk to her about it? or talk to jeff at least? there has to be something he can do..?” you ask.
harry sighs, “i’ve tried so hard. jeff said nothing they can do about it. and he’s telling me not to mess with olivia because her team can do more damage than good with my name. not that s’already ruined.” harry rubs his face with his hands, feeling stressed.
the way he’s acting is familiar to you. early on in your relationship, when you two were a freshly new couple, you guys wanted to be completely private. during that time, with harry and the band’s album coming out, his management made him do pr stunts like these. he was as stressed as he is now. you were so new to dating something in an industry. he didn’t want to scare you away. but you understood. you get it. and you still get it as he’s speaking.
“hmm..if i can recall, back when you had to do a stunt with kendall on the yacht, m’pretty sure it was the same situation. with kendall’s team being difficult, your’s not having much of a say. do what i told you back then, stand your ground, harry. tell olivia like you did with kendall. also kendall’s team at the time played dirty, yet they still were understanding with you and got someone new for a stunt. olivia’s team will probably get someone new as well. and how badly can they ruin your rep? everyone knows you’re the nicest person who wouldn’t kill a fly. and tabloids are tabloids. would you rather have a few bad headlines about you or would you rather deal with a stunt for what? another year now? that you feel uncomfortable with?” you state. smiling a bit because you know harry knows your right, he’s smiling a bit too. he knows you love being right and debating, pulling out facts. that’s what you always did during an argument. which is why you were always right.
man. why couldn’t he stand his ground with his team. why didn’t he take your advice back then? he should’ve sided with you. not his team. why is he always so scared of them?
self-loathing, harry breathes out a laugh, “always have to be right don’t ya? you know what to say every damn time,”
“what can i say? the lady is always right.” you say, smiling proudly while cleaning up the remains of the cheeseboard you and harry snacked on.
“thanks y/n, really, i know i can always come to you with this stuff,” harry states. looking at you with his piercing eyes, meaning every word he said.
you smiled and nodded, cleaning the kitchen a bit. it started to pour early on when you guys were having a chat about his situation, hoping silently it would come down faster so harry has an excuse to stay, you offer nonetheless. “why don’t you stay back for a bit, hm? s’pouring out there, only gonna get worse. we can watch something?”
“love island?” harry suggests.
“thought you’d never ask.”
-
few gasps and scoffs at some of the islanders and their drama later, you slowly were drifted off to sleep. harry, sitting on the other sofa from you, peaks to see if you’re still watching. his face was in awe. he misses this. domestic nights with you, chatting away eating in the kitchen, then watching something afterwards. only difference is that you two are on different sofas. whereas before you’d be coddled under his embrace. he slowly drifts off to sleep as well. rain still going on, technically he can still go home. driving in the rain was never an issue for him. but he’ll always use an excuse just to be with you.
-

Now that you think about it, maybe you shouldn’t have skipped school today. Maybe then you wouldn’t be in this situation.
....On another planet. Watching Thor be forced to fight some old dudes “Champion”, whatever that means.
Let’s go back to the beginning.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Nerves filled your body as you walked to school. You had an audition in the school play today and you were determined to get the part. Tony had offered to take you to school today but you decided to walk as it would give you extra time to learn your lines. As you pushed through the busy streets, occasionally bumping into a random pedestrian, you heard some girls whispering.
“Oh my god is that..”
“Yes! oh my go, he's so handsome”
“Ask him for a selfie”
“No you go ask hm”
At first you rolled your eyes, thinking it was just some youtuber or Tik tok star, you kept walking, eyes down re-reading your script. Then you heard the girls speak again.
“Thanks Thor, I’m sorry Jane dumped you.”
Hearing the name, your head swiveled up. You scanned the crowd looking for the blonde man, at first missing him as he wasn’t in his usual outfit of a cape and battle armour. But then you saw him, in a hoodie and some jeans. Picking up the pace, you jog toward the god not noticing the darker clothed man next to him.
“....it was a mutual dumping”
“I didn’t know the renaissance fair was in town” you say, a small smirk making its way on your face at the quip.
Both Thor and ...Loki?! Turn around in surprise at the sudden voice behind them. Only to see you looking up at them with a arched brow.
“Lady Y/n! How wonderful it is to see you” Thor boomed as he brought you into a bone crushing hug. Over his shoulder you could see Loki roll his eyes.
“Honestly, had I known this trip would consist of young woman flocking to you, I would have allowed your hammer to kill me.”
Thor ignored his brother as he put you down. “My how you’ve grown.”
You smile and say, “Well the last time you saw me I was twelve.” Then you eye Loki with distrust. “Um Thor, why’d you bring brother dearest back to New York?”
Loki looks at you with distaste, “ Who is this child, and why is she conversing with us?”
“Brother” Thor warns and then turns to you, “ Lady Y/n, we are searching for our father, it seems as if my brother” Thor harshly pats Loki on the shoulder, “ Has misplaced him.”
You look at Loki and then look at the building that has been demolished
, “ Woah, I didn’t know Gods put their parents in nursing homes” You say “ If you want we can go back to the Tower and try to track him down”
Thor smiles at the suggestion, “ A wonderful idea, tell me, how have my comrades been in my absence?”
You cringe at the thought of explaining the events of the so called “Civil war”. Then notice a ring of sparks forming around Loki.
“Uhh Thor” You say as you nod your head
“What’s this..wha.what are you doing?” He asks in alarm. Loki looks confused as the sparks get larger and more erratic.
“ This isn’t me” Loki says in confusion. Then suddenly the ground opens up beneath him and he falls through with an alarmed “Oh!” only leaving behind a business card. You and Thor look at each other, confusion written on both of your faces.
“Loki” Thor whispers as he nudges the card with his umbrella. You look at him with concern and think to yourself
“Does..does he think the cards Loki?”
You bend down to pick up the business card and read it out loud.
“177a Bleeker St” you look at Thor and ask,” Do you know anyone from there?”
“ No” He says, ‘ i don’t even know where that is.”
You sigh, looking down at your script and making a decision. “ Well, lets go find your brother.”
And with that, you turn around and start walking to your destination.
“Oh well, school can wait”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You and Thor find yourselves in front of two big black doors. You stand near Thor as he raises his hand to knock. Suddenly, before his hand is able to touch the door, you find yourselves inside the building.
“What the fuck?” you mutter to yourself as you look around.
“Thor Odinson” a deep voice says. You look up to see a floating figure in the shadows coming towards you both. Thor pushes you behind him as he holds him umbrella threateningly. If you weren’t in potential danger, you would have laughed at the sight. The figure floated into the light and you saw it was a man.
He was wearing a cloak and some weird robes with yellow gloves. He was relatively handsome, salt and pepper hair that was slicked back, high cheek bones and a goatee. He wasn’t horrible to look at. His deep, baritone voice was soothing.
“God of Thunder” He said looking at Thor. He glanced at the umbrella. “ You can put down the umbrella.” Then his gaze turned to you.
“Y/n Banner. I wasn’t expecting you here” He said eyes narrowing at you,” Shouldn’t you be in school?”
You chuckled nervously, “ Eh, how can I abandon a friend in need?”
The man smiles and looks back at Thor and suddenly your in a different room. Looking around in awe you hear Thor start talking.
“So..Earth has wizards now” He says, picking up a dagger from a display on a table, then dropping all of them trying to put them back. You try to hold back a laugh, feeling embarrassed for the god.
You might have failed though because Thor looked at you with an unimpressed glance. You giggle out loud this time, as you watch him struggle with the knives. Everytime he managed to put one back, another fell.
“The preferred term is Master of the Mystic arts...” Clank! another knife falls. The man looks very unimpressed, at your giggling and Thor's clumsiness.” You can leave that now.”
At those words Thor leaves the knifes, trying to regaine his cool, he leans against the table.
“Alright wizard, who are you and why should I care?”
“Thor! That’s rude!”
Ignoring you, their conversation continues,
“My name is Dr. Stephen Strange and I have some questions for you.”  He says as he eyes you and Thor. “Have a seat”
Within a second you’re in another room in the building...or least you think it is. The wind blows your hair back as you are suddenly dropped into a chair. You can see Thor look around startled and confused at the sudden setting change. You’re sure your face mirrored his as well.
“Tea?” Dr. Strange asks nonchalantly, a cup of tea appearing in your hands. You look at it in awe, not used to this level of magic, or magic at all. Thor on the other hand looked unimpressed with the cup.
“I don’t drink tea.” He says examining the cup that looked small in his hands.
“Well what do you drink?”
“Not tea.” Thor says shaking his head. You roll you eyes as you go for a sip of tea, but before you can a large pitcher of beer was in its place. You look up at the two men with a raised eyebrow.
“I hate to be a bother, but I do drink tea”
Strange looked at you in amusement as he returns the beer to tea.
“Jesus made water into wine, you make beer into tea. Interesting..” You say as you sip your tea. It was perfectly brewed of course. Dr. Strange smiled at the comparison
“Well its not exactly like that” Then he turned to Thor, “ So, I keep a watch list of individuals and beings from the realms that may be a threat to this world. Your adopted brother Loki is one of those beings.”
You scoff and roll your eyes and mutter, “Yeah no kidding.” Then you finish the last sips of tea, as you bring it down, the glass is already refilled
Thor looks up from his glass that he basically chugged,”Thats a worthy inclusion” His beer is refilled as well. He looks at it in astonishment.
“Then why bring him here?” Strange asks leaning forward.
“We’re looking for my father.”
“So..if I were to tell you where Odin was..all parties concerned would return to Asgard” He then looks at you, “ or upper Manhattan.”
“Promptly” “Try and keep me away from this place.”
“Great then I’ll help you...and get to that later”
You smirk at the doctor, knowing that it’s basically impossible to squash your curiosity once you get started. Then you realized something.
“Wait, if you knew where Odin is, why didn't you tell anyone?”
“Well he was very adamant he was not to be disturbed,” He turned to Thor, “Your father had chosen to remain in exile. Also you don’t have a phone.”
“Hmm, no I don’t have a..a phone but you could’ve sent an electronic letter. It’s called an email.”
“Thor you don’t have a computer.”
“What for?”
You lock eyes with Dr. Strange and share a look.
“Uh huh well, my father is no longer in exile, so if you can tell me where he is, the quicker I can take him home.” Thor then takes a sip of his beer.
“Okay, hes in Norway.” Suddenly your on your feet again standing an a library of some sort. You’re a bit unbalance and catch yourself on the self. Strange is muttering to himself as he looks through a book. Then again, you’re in another room with a shelf. Nearly falling over you cling onto Thor, but he’s in no better shape than you, beer spilling everywhere.
“Oh we don’t need that” Boom, in another room, this time you do fall and Thor breaks another shelf. He places the glass on a table, shaking the spilled beer of his person.
“Can you stop doing that?” He asked irritated
“Please” you add in, looking up from your place on the ground.
You’re on your feet in a blink of an eye, feeling dizzy at the continuous movement.
“Can I..I need a piece of your hair.” Strange says looking at Thor.
“Let me tell you something, my hair is not to be --OW”
You smile sweetly as you pass the yanked out hair to the Strange. “ Here you go Dr. Wizard.”  He makes a face at the nickname but takes the hair with a nod of thanks. Thor looks at you in betrayal.
“Don’t be such a drama queen” You say rolling your eyes.  You then walk away from the duo, examining books and artifact that were in the room. You were too caught up in looking at all the cool stuff you didn’t pay attention to the rest of the conversation. Suddenly you were in the front room again. You managed to stay on your feet as Thor tumbled down the stairs. You watched in amazement as Dr. Strange did some hand movements and created a shape in sparks.
“Could’ve just walked.” Thor muttered as he brushed the dust and wrinkles out off of his clothes.
“He’s waiting for you.” Then Dr. Strange turned to you,” Would you like to go home Ms. Banner?”
You looked at him with consideration,” Um Mister Strange, do you think you can help me find my dad?”
“I’ll see what I can do.” Then he turned to Thor,” Don’t forget your umbrella.
“Oh right.” Thor sticks his arm out like he’s summoning his hammer. You look at him confused. Then you here several bangs and crashes, as if something is being thrown around the rooms.
“ohhh thats where your hammer went”
Dr. Strange looks at Thor unimpressed again.
“Sssorry” The umbrella lands in his hands and he brushes the glass off the hammer.” I suppose I need my brother back”
“Oh right”
The a portal appears a few feet off the ground, in comes Loki screaming as he falls and hits the ground.
He flips his hair back as he catches his breath, “ I have been falling..FOR THIRTY MINUTES”
You snicker as you go to help the god of mischief up,” Come on reindeer games, lets get you up”
He doesn’t decline your help but he doesn’t thank you either. You turn to see Thor and Strange shake hands.
“Handle me?!” “Oh boy” “ Who are you?”
“Loki..”
“You think you’re a sorcerer? Don’t think for one minute--”
“Alright bye bye” The portal then is thrown to them as Loki charges with two daggers.
It’s silent in the room as you whislte,” Well he’s very catty.”
Strange laughs as he nods,” Come on kid lets find your dad.”
You’re then taken back to the library and you give him a piece of your hair.
“You have had quite the adventure today.” Dr. Strange says as he looks through the books again.
“Ehh, when you live with the Avengers stuff like this is an everyday thing.”
“I could imagine” He says smiling at you. “ Well..it seems like your father is off world”
“Off world?” You question,”why would he be...?”
“Your guess is as good as mine.” Then a bag appeared in front of you.
“I have a feeling you won’t stop searching until you find your father.” He nods to the bag. “ Everything you need to survive in Sakkarr is in there, I trust you know how to use knives?”
“Yeah, Bucky taught me.”
“Perfect, now you must try to get on the grandmasters good side, that’ll give you the resources you need to find your father. Don’t get caught by scavenger or scrapper , you’ll either get eaten or sold into slavery.”
“Slavery?” you ask with an eyebrow raised.
“Sakkarr is known to be the ‘dump’ of the universe. It’s filled with people you must be weary of. The main entertainment are these gladiator type fights the Grandmaster puts on.” He thinks for a bit the conjures up a portal. He pulls a amulet out of it then hands it to you. “If you find your father, or need a quick escape, rub this amule three times t and I’ll make a portal for you to come back home”
You nod, nervous to go on your personal mission. You look up at Dr.strange and hug him. “ Thanks Dr.Wizard.”
He pats your back uncomfortably,” It’s Stephen.”
You let go of him and smile,”Well, beam me up Scotty”
He rolls his eyes and creates a portal, you take a deep breath and look at him. He sends you a reassuring smile and you’re filled with determination. Then you step through.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You step through it to see...the steps to some weird looking palace. You look around to see an even weirder looking city. It looks like its built out of scraps of metal or parts. You walk up the steps and into the palace. You look around, astonished at the amount of people??
Beings. So many different kinds of aliens. All different colors and shapes. It was like a Star Wars movie. Then you see a familiar face.
“Loki??”
He looks up at you in confusion, you speed towards him, happy to see a familiar face. Even if it is Thor's evil brother.
“Ah Thor's child friend. This doesn’t seem like your type of setting.”
“I’m looking for my father, Stephen says he’s here.”
He scoffs, looking around the room. “It seems everyone is looking for their fathers.”
“What are you doing here? I thought you were in Norway with Thor and your dad”
“Well it seems that father dearest has been hiding a secret daughter. Who appeared after my father died. And is destined to destroy Asgard.”
“Well shit” you blurt out. “Are..are you okay?”
Loki looks at you like you’re a puzzle.
“What.”
“Well..” you start nervously, “it sounds like a traumatic experience, so..are you okay?”
He’s quiet for a few minutes, just staring at you. Suddenly he turns around. “We must see the grandmaster. He’s the only one who can guarantee your protection, and I’m sure you would prefer not to be slaughtered brutally in the competition.”
He walks ahead of you, and you stare after him wondering what just happened. Then after he noticed you’re not following him he turns and says
“Well, come on. I haven’t got all day.”
“Oh right.” You catch up to him and walk by his side. Looking around in wonder.
“Why are you looking around like that?” Loki asks as he makes his way through a crowd of...pink women. They had their hair in very intricate styles and weird metallic unitards. They eyed you as you passed by them.
“I feel like I’m in a Star Wars movie.” You pass by a man, he looked almost reptilian. He had pale yellow skin with green slits as his eyes. He looks like he was gambling or something.
“I don’t know what that is. Why would stars commence in battle? It makes no sense.” Loki scoffs as he turns to look at you. You laugh at his misunderstanding.
“I just..never seen..” you trail off not knowing how to explain. Luckily, Loki seems to get what you were says.
“ I can see this is a bit of a change for you. But..you have seen people from other planets before.”
“ yeah..it’s just a lot to take in.” You smile at Loki, “ I’ll be fine, don’t worry. I can freak out about it after I meet the Grandmaster.”
He nods his head and starts walking again, but this time he’s closer to you. Finally, you reach a large room. It’s filled with guards all wearing different colored armor. They part as Loki walks through them, confident with long strides. You follow him, shrinking under their gaze. Loki leans down to whisper to you
“ when you meet the grandmaster, do not be too meak . And do not mention anything about your father till I tell you. Actually, just follow my lead.”
You look up at him and before you say anything, a large woman appears in the room. She looks normal to you. Stocky, a stern face with white markings. A slicked back bun. She’s wearing yellow armor with black accents. She’s holding a large staff with an orb attached to the end.
“ Didn’t the Grandmaster just see you” she says to Loki, glaring at him. Loki smiles charmingly and says
“Oh yes, but it appears that I have found a...friend.. of mine. She, like I, has arrived here on Sakkarr by accident and is hoping to meet with the Grandmaster.”
Then Loki nudges you in front of him, and into the view of the woman. She looks at you with distaste.
“ Poor child is skin and bones. She’s puny.”
You look in offense, but before you can say anything Loki spoke for you.
“Yes, and that’s why I have decided to take her under my wing.”
“ Can she not speak for herself? You expect the Grandmaster to—“ “ Easy Topaz”
“Loki! How wonderful to see you again, even though it’s been about twenty minutes”
A voice cut through the air. Suddenly everyone in the room stood up straight. Topaz immediately stopped talking and turned. A man came in on a floating throne. He was wearing red, blue, and gold robes. He had a blue line down his chin and blue under eye liner. He...he looked like..
“Jeff Goldblum?”
Loki looked at you like you were insane and the Grandmaster and Topaz just looked confused.
“What did she call me?” He whispered to Topaz, she looked at him in equal bafflement. She then tries to hand him the staff.
“ Why are you handing me the melty stick?! She had a slip of a tounge! That’s not a capital offense”
“What is wrong with you?” “I’m sorry! It just slipped out!” “ Do you want to die” “To be fair, that was the biggest compliment I could have given him. Jeff Goldblum is basically a god of cinema.”
Topaz looked at the Grandmaster, “ apparently this..Jeff.. is a god from her world.”
“Hm, child.”
You and Loki stop your whisper arugument and turn to the Grandmaster.
“Come forward.”
You look at Loki in fear and step up to the floating throne.
“Hm” The man says as he examines you. You suddenly feel self conscious about what you’re wearing. A Jurassic park shirt (ironically) with a turtleneck under, some plaid pants and converse. To be fair you weren’t expecting to end up on a different planet.
“I don’t know what Jurassic park is, but look there’s a big lizard on her shirt” he says to Topaz, “ you like lizards?” He asks you. Your eyes widened at the question not expecting it.
“Oh I think I’ve embarrassed her, it’s okay if you like them. I don’t personally like them, they’re all scales and fast and blegh” the Grandmaster rambles then Topaz chimes in
“ and they can grow back limbs”
“Yes! That’s disgusting”
“ I’m sorry, it’s not a lizard, it’s a dinosaur ” you explain. “ it’s from a movie, it has Jeff Goldblum...”
You trail off as they stare at you.
“ Go on, you keep mentioning this Jeff Goldblum, I’d like to hear more about him.”
So there you were, explaining all the different movies Jeff Goldblum was in. From the Fly to Jurassic Park. Everyone seemed...intrested. The Grandmaster somehow got it in his head that you were this great storyteller. So now you were on his good side, just like Loki.
“ Storyteller, I welcome you to Sakkarr! I have never met a child with such interesting stories!” He turns to Topaz, “ Aren’t they entertaining?! So adventurous!”
“ I think they’re weird.” “ Oh don’t be such a buzzkill”
“ I thank you Grandmaster, for being so gracious with my...ward” Loki says, “I assure you that I will keep her out of trouble.”
“ Yes yes, now go, if she is going to stay here, she’ll need to fit in. Topaz, see if you can find a tailor for the child, she’ll need a change of clothes. You as well Loki”
She nods and gestures for you both to follow her. As you walk through the futuristic castle, you are completely in awe. Even though you live with Tony, this is a different kind of technology. Topaz gives you both a tour. She mentions the fights and the arena, but you don’t pay too much attention. Finally you make it to the tailor. After being fussed over and much debating, you finally come to an agreement.
You end up with a sort of body armor. With a black catsuit made out of a leather like material, there were pieces of armor covering your legs, hips, torso, shoulders and arms. Blue fabric was wrapped around your waist, draping down the front and under the armor there. There was also fabric wrapped around your upper arm and shoulders preventing the straps from rubbing against your skin. Finally, to top it all off, a long blue cape drape down your shoulders. You felt awesome. You took the daggers Stephen gave you out of the bag and attached them to your hips. And the amulet around your neck.
“What do you think?” You asked Loki. He looked at you for a bit.
“Your daggers should be attached to your thighs, that way the hilts are at your fingertips and not your shoulders.” He squints for a bit, “ that cape looks ridiculous.”
“Fuck off man I look awesome.”
Loki just laughs and goes to put his outfit on. “ Such foul language for a child.” Then he comes out fully dressed. With a yellow cape.
“ oh? My cape was ridiculous?”
“Hush.”
You smile, and a silence falls between you both. You sigh and look down, playing with the end of your cape. Loki looks at you, examines your face, then looks away.
“ Why...why did you ask if I was alright?” He questions, “when you first saw me..?”
You looked at him your face scrunched in a puzzled expression, “ because.”
“Because what?” Loki asks, not understanding where your coming from.
“ I don’t know, because like I said, something that traumatic must’ve been shitty. I know I wouldn’t be okay.”
“I do not understand you. Why care about someone you never met? Nevertheless someone like me?”
“Someone like you?” Now you were really confused. What does he mean by that?
“No midgardian would trust me. Especially after...” He stops, hinting about the attack of New York. “ I am not... not a good person. Nor a good influence. Not for a child.”
“That’s bullshit.”
Your words seem to startle him.
“I beg your pardon?”
“ That’s. Bullshit.” You stand to face him.
“Loki, I’ve known you for about six hours. And in that time, you managed to help me gain favor of a ruler, enough for him to give me a room to stay in and new clothes. You also helped me when you could’ve just left me alone. From what I’ve seen, you’re pretty chill.”
“Chill?” He asks quirking an eyebrow.
“A good person.”
He stops and looks at you, “ you think I’m a good person? Even though I nearly destroyed your planet?”
“ Sure. We all make mistakes.”
He stares at you for a while. Smiles briefly and then gets up from where he was leaning.
“ You, my dear, are one odd child.” He walks out of the room. “Come along, I must get you to your room. It’s late and I am certain you e had a long day.”
You follow him to your room, turns out someone was paying attention to the tour. He leads you to your temporary room, shows you how to open the door and lock it, then makes sure your settled.
“Well, it’s time for me to retire. Good night child.”
When he doesn’t get a response he turns around, he sees you’ve fallen asleep on the bed. He chuckles at the sound of you muttering in your sleep.
“ An odd child indeed.”
Then he covers you, turns out the lights and shuts the door. Leaving you to go to his room.
( he promptly freaks out over how quickly he’s grown fond of you.)
Peter arrived at the Avengers tower with a little pep in his step. His new neighbor was on his mind and he couldn’t get her off. He knew it was a long shot, after all you’d only had one conversation, but he felt like there was a connection between you. You were awkward, he was awkward. What more does a relationship need?
Tony was quick to notice the change in Peters mood. A dreamy smile crept across his face every now and then while Tony was trying to explain something about his nanotechnology.
“Alright Underoos, whats on your mind? A girl? Boy? That gorgeous Aunt of yours? Oh wait no, that’s what’s on my mind.” Tony smirked, making a blush paint Peters cheeks.
“Nothing sir. Sorry, I’ll pay attention.” Peter answered quickly. Tony scanned Peter up and down skeptically.
“So its a girl. Alright. Who is she?” Tony asked, motioning for Peter to sit down with him.
“This girl moved in across the hall from me about a week ago. I’d see her on the stairs sometimes, or in the lobby. She’s beautiful, Mr. Stark. I mean, really beautiful. And I know girls are a lot more than their appearance, trust me, but I can never look away. It’s like God made a perfect batch of cookie dough, and then made a perfect cookie cutter, and then hand made her just for me. There’s just, there’s something about her. I feel like I’ve always known her, and I don’t even know her yet. She knocked on my door this morning and I nearly had a heart attack when I saw her through the peephole. I played dumb and acted like I didn’t know she lived across the hall.” Peter started to explain. A twinge of embarrassment struck him at the memory of what he said to you.
“Oh God. You said something stupid, didn’t you?” Tony inquired, noticing the look of embarrassment on Peters face as he recalled their conversation. Tony leaned on his hands like a child, this stuff exciting him more than anything.
“I insulted her dead father and called him smelly.” Peter admitted, and Tony laughed.
“But she found it funny and agreed with me.” Peter quickly followed up.
“Wow. Normally I’d say there’s no coming back from that, but she seems like a keeper. So, are you gonna throw on your Spidey suit and take her for a ride around the city? Works with all the ladies.” Tony wiggled eyebrows, but Peter shook his head.
“No. Spider-Man isn’t a party trick or some tactic to pick up girls. Plus, I want her to like me for me. That’s why I invited her over for dinner tonight.” Peter answered. Tony looked down at his hands, not wanting Peter to see how proud he was. He couldn’t let Peter get too cocky.
“That was a test and you passed.” To y quipped. “Alright, spider child, you have my blessing. But no funny business tonight. If I find out I’m gonna have to design nanotech baby clothes, I’m gonna be pissed.”
Peter blushed at the mere thought of what Tony was implying and spent the rest of his time at the tower going over missions to get you off his mind.
You arrived at Peters at 6:07. You were done getting ready at 5:45, and sat in the living room on your phone until you were slightly late. You didn’t want to be early, like some loser. Or even worse, on time. You had to be fashionably, but not rudely, late.
You knocked on Peters door at 6:07 and waited. The door swung open instantly, as if he’d be waiting right behind.
“I know what you’re thinking.” He stated. “I’ll let you decide if I was waiting at the door for you or if I’m just really fast. “
He had successfully broken the ice, and you gave kudos to him for trying.
You, on the other hand, were drawing a blank. You had no idea what to say and you were a reporter for crying out loud. You didn’t get tripped up on my words, but something about Peter Parker and that damn collared shirt rendered you unable to formulate a thought. All you could do was stand there and smile at him. You felt like you were standing weirdly and all the sudden had no idea where to put your hands. Do you leave them at your sides? That felt too stiff and soldier-like. But where else would they go? You were pretty sure every brain cell had left your body at that point, leaving you defenseless.
“You look nice.” Peter blurted, interrupting the awkward silence that had settled between you. Even he seemed surprised by his statement. You looked down and shrugged. You looked as nice as a lazy person who didn’t fully unpack their clothes could look. You had on a casual grey dress that was made of some sort of t-shirt material, and your hair was in a loose bun with a few curls framing your face. Peter took in your appearance with what looked like approval. Then you noticed Peters gaze falling to your feet.
“Converse with a dress.” He noted. “Bold move.”
You felt your personality re-enter your body, finally, and nodded.
“Oh yeah. You know me. Quirky and cool and not like other girls.” You joked as you clicked your heels together. “You look nice too. Very…Freddie Benson.”
Freddie Benson? Who the hell makes an ICarly reference to compliment someone? This night was going downhill fast and you regretted ever knocking on his door.
“Dude. You’re tanking.” Venom said in your ear, you had to agree. This couldn’t be going worse.
But lo and behold, Peters beautiful laugh filled your ears once again.
“That’s what I was going for!” He cheered. “My friend Ned always teases me for wearing sweaters and button downs but he just doesn’t have the vision.”
“Come in.” He suddenly stepped aside and gestured inward. “Dinners almost ready.”
Peters apartment looked just like yours, but much more homey. You saw his baby pictures on the wall, coupled with pictures of him and his parents through the years. You noticed a framed picture of a different couple on the coffee table. They resembled Peter but you didn’t see them in any photos with him past the age of around 7. There was a candle next to the frame, as well as a ceramic cross. You quickly looked away, not wanting to overstep.
“You must be Y/N. It’s very nice to meet you.” You heard a woman’s voice from behind you. You turned around and saw a woman in high pants and a yellow tank top, recognized her from the pictures with Peter.
“I am. It’s very nice to meet you too, Mrs. Parker.” You said politely and shook her hand.
“Please.” She shook your hand. “Call me May.”
“May.” You repeated with a smile.
You turned around and saw Peter pulling out a chair for you, so you sat down while May finished preparing dinner. You offered to help, being the polite ass bitch that you were, but May insisted that you were the guest. A plate of “meatloaf” was soon placed in front of you and Peter. The term “meatloaf” is used very loosely. It looked more like an old shriveled brain. Peter made eye contact with you and winked.
“It’s not as bad as it looks.” He whispered. He glanced at May, who was busy pouring the drinks, before leaning in closer and whispering, “it’s way worse.”
You playfully kicked Peter under the table and he giggled, quickly masking the sound with a drink of water.
“So, Y/N, where do you go to school?” May started the conversation. You took a bite of meatloaf, nearly died, and swallowed before answering.
“I’m actually taking a gap year before I start my junior year at Berkeley.” You told her. “And I work part time as a reporter.”
“That’s a very good school.” She complimented. “And I thought you looked familiar. I’ve seen your show on YouTube.”
“I haven’t.” Peter realized. “What’s it called?”
“The L/n Report.” You answered. “I started it my freshman year and it just kinda took off.”
“Oh. I’ve read some of yoru articles, but I haven’t seen the show.” Peter realized. “I can’t believe you do that. That’s really cool. You’re really cool.”
“Thank you.” You winked at him, not used to being praised for your work.
“Peter told me about your father.” May changed the subject. “I’m so sorry to hear that he passed. He left the apartment to you?”
“He did.” You nodded. “And it’s all right. We were estranged anyway.”
“It must be so different living alone in a city.” May sighed. “Did you dorm while at Berkeley?”
“No, I lived with my boyfriend.” You shook your head. Peter began choking on his water at the mention of a boyfriend and May shot him a look.
“Peter. Manners.” She said sternly.
“Boyfriend?” Was all he managed to say between coughs and sputters.
Oh great. Time for this conversation.
“Ex-boyfriend.” You corrected. “I got him demoted to traffic duty for two weeks and he wasn’t too happy about it.”
“He broke up with you over that?” Peter raised an eyebrow. “That’s gotta be the dumbest reason for a breakup I’ve ever heard.”
“May I ask how you got him demoted?” May wondered.
“Well, I’m an investigative reporter, and my ex, Andy, is a cop.” You began. “I looked at some classified files on his computer and used them against someone.”
“Carlton Drake, right?” She realized the story sounded familiar. “I read about that. Your exposé about him was everywhere.”
“Didn’t he die in his own rocket?” Peter asked you, fully invested in the story.
“Yea. I was there. Me and…my friend.” You caught yourself before almost mentioning Venom.
“Gosh I read that story forever ago.” May recalled. “It was all over the news here. I remember Peter ranting to me that this girl was straight out of high school and already taking down shady guys in San Francisco. You were obsessed with the article, remember Peter? I’m pretty sure you hung it up.”
Peter, you guessed it, turned bright red.
“I just thought you were cool. You know, taking down bad guys and all at such a young age. It really inspired me.” Peter explained. He suddenly looked panicked, like he said too much, and you wondered what it inspired him to do.
“Thank you Peter.” You smiled fondly. “How old are you anyway?”
“19. I’ll be 20 on August 10th.” He said proudly. “What about you?”
“He’s legal.” Venom whispered in your ear. You couldn’t even be mad at her, you were thinking the same thing.
“I’m 20.” You told him, and smile crept across his face.
“And this boyfriend, where is he now?” May asked. May wasn’t blind to what was happening between her nephew and this new neighbor and knew that’s what Peter was dying to ask.
“I would very much also like to know that.” Peter said, almost robotically. He leaned in closer and stared at you while he awaited the answer.
“He’s engaged, actually.” You said between sips of water, making Peter sigh in relief. “To a friend of mine. They’re getting married this summer.”
It was the first time you said those words out loud. You didn’t feel sad, like you thought you would. You didn’t really know how you felt. The smile that broke out on Peters face gave a clear indication on how he felt, though.
“That’s great. I mean, not great great. Great for him, I mean. It’s always good to move on. Wether it be with an old friend or a brand new one. Maybe it’s with someone you just met. You never know. Things just happen between the most random of people. Could be a stranger. Or, or, hear me out, it could be less of a stranger. Like a barista, or a mailman or a…a neighbor.” Peter stumbled over his words, the last part coming out very quietly. “I’m sorry that things didn’t work out though. Between you and him, I mean. ”
“Thanks.” You shrugged. “It was tough at first but, I’m okay now. He wasn’t the one.”
“When you do find the one, you’ll know. I knew almost immediately that Ben was the one. I saw him and my heart said “that’s the one you’ve been looking for” and I believed it.” May sighed wistfully. You could see her eyes glistening behind her glasses and did something rather bold. You put your hand on top of hers and squeezed. She gave off this loving motherly vibe that you had only seen in movies but never felt for yourself. May gave you the warmest smile and squeezed your hand back.
“That’s lovely May. Although, I always thought when you met the one, your heart wouldn’t say that it’s been looking for that person. I always thought it would say ‘welcome home’, or something like that. You know? Like, you’ve always known them. I don’t know though. Maybe I’ve just seen The Princess Bride one too many times.” You shrugged.
“Ah. That’s a classic in this household.” May recalled. “Peter would refuse to go to bed without watching it.”
“Because it’s a cinematic masterpiece.” Peter sassed. “You’re trying to embarrass me by pointing out that even as a child I had impeccable taste? Oh please.”
You laughed at his remark, making May noticed the smile that broke out on Peters face when he succeeded in making their new neighbor laugh.
May looked at you for a while with a content smile on her face before saying, “Yeah. I suppose you do have good taste.”
