Can I place an order for Marvel? If yes: HERE YOU GO. Where the reader is Steve and Natasha's daughter, Tony and Bucky's goddaughter (you can already imagine that) and mainly, she was raised by all the avengers and hidden from the spotlight. Just something pretty fluffy for what her relationship with them would be like 🥺✋
Ohana means family
Paring: Romanogers!Daughter!reader X Avengers(Platonic)
A/n: thank you for the request. This is my first request for the MCU Fandom, hope you enjoy.
Tumblr media
Being the daughter of Captain America and Black Widow is blessing a curse... I'll tell you why.
But first if your the daughter of them I could imagine you having Steve's kind heart and Natasha's temper. Your Godfather Tony always got a kick out of a tiny you getting all angry. And his laughter would only get heavier if you came and started punching his leg for laughing.
Tony would definitely be a second father. He's wanted to be different from his father so he will always show you the love and affection his father didn't show him.
You don't like hearing about Peggy. I think it's because she was almost your dad's love. Natasha never had a problem with hearing Steve talk about her but the woman always left you frustrated just by the sound of her name... You'd never tell your dad this though.
Anyway, being around all theses heros obviously inspired your choice of future work, this scares not only your parents but the whole team.
Sure your mother would teach you how to shoot or Tony will teach you how to build a robot but they all fear the day you'll actually have to use those skills.
Your other Godfather Bucky seems to be the only one with peace about this suprisenly. If you told him you want to be a superhero he'll grien and listen to your reasoning.
There's been times where he'll put toy boxing gloves on your hands and teach you how to punch. Natasha put a stop to it quickly though. One day he was setting on his knees so he was your hight and you kept punching his flesh hand. He wouldn't let you hit his metal hand in fear you'll hurt your self.
Sam would always tease that you have Bucky wrapped around your little finger.
Bucky and Tony always compete to see who can be the coolest Godfather. If one gets you a cool Lego set or dollhouse the other one will get the bigger version. You love Elvis Presley at the time Tony will take you right to Graceland. You want to go you a waterpark Bucky will have you there in a flash before Tony can have the chance.
A down side is you learned how to be independent with your Hero Family. It's not a bad thing and they don't do it intentionally but there's many times you spent at the compound with Pepper and Happy.
But your mom and dad always make it up to you. I wouldn't say your spoiled, but if you ask one of your godfathers nicely(with puppy eyes) you usually get it.
But another down side of being a part of this family is them being extremely over protective. There's been many times you couldn't do something or had to stay indoors for long periods of time because someone was plotting your father's death.
If you do go somewhere one of them is with you. If you want to go to a zoo trip for school one of them is with you. You want to check the mailbox Sam is flying around watching you. And don't even think about going to friends house for a slumber party. Steve and Nat aren't trying to be strick or anything they just always have this sicking feeling something will happen.
On a more positive note... You always have the best time with them. To be honest you never worried about having friends because you had them. You of course have friends your age but you consider the Avengers your Best Friends. Speaking of which Cassie Lang is probably your Best Friend.
Which means the first sleepover you ever had was with Cassie. Since you technically would be with an Avenger it was okay. Tony thought it was dumb to leave you alone with "Thumbelina" but Steve trusts Scott and Nat trusts Hope.
Speaking of which play time is always token to the extreme. You want a nerf gun war, the whole team is involved. You want to build a Lego thing, tony will buy the biggest one. Blanket fort? You don't have to ask Clint and Scott twise.
I think you'll always try and lift Thor's hammer. You've tried but couldn't so one time Thor lifted it with you so you could have the experience.
You love it when Bruce reads to you. If you come up to him with a book he'll drop everything and read to you. It's the only thing that will make him leave the lab immediately. It's calming to him and he always uses different funny voices to make you laugh.
I won't tell anyone but once you got older you had a small crush on Peitro, which didn't set well with most of the men in the compound when Cassie acdently let the cat out of the bag. You've never saw the ironman suit appear so quickly..
I think once you got older the over protectiveness got old. You found it annoying a frustrating at times but in the end you're greatful that you have a group of people that care about you so much.
Be patient with them. They love you and trust you, they just don't trust other people.
Since you can't be on the flighting field you went to medical school and with everyones help(especially from Bruce and Tony) you were able to graduate with a trauma certification and now you work with Dr. Cho in the med bay.
You always hate seeing them beat up from missions but you also love helping Them and other people.
I don't think you and Peter would get along. I don't know why, I just do. I think at one point they tried to get you to go on a date with him but it never happened.
For a little bit I think you had a jealously thing going on and didn't like how close Peter was getting to Tony. Your Godfather noticed this and told you that you'll always be his number one.
Speaking of Starks, your literally the best big sister to Morgan. You two are basically two peas in a pod. And don't even think about messing with her because you will through hands to anyone who's rude to her.
Your basically to her what Tony was to you.
When you get older you do become an Avenger and the elders got over it. You proved you can survive and they couldn't be more proud of you.
This is your family and you couldn't be more thank full. There may have been bumbs mountains along the the way but they'll always be family. And that's forever.

Unpopular Phase 4 & 5 Opinions
Quantumania is the worst Phase 4/5 movie. And it wasn’t even because “kang got beat by ants.” (I liked kang in this movie). It’s just that the Spy Kids aesthetic & bad acting & overall weird vibes just weren’t for me.
Love and Thunder is no worse than Ragnarok. I would argue that it’s better in a lot of ways, actually. I really liked it.
Taika Waititi ruined thor with bad humour all the way back in Ragnarok tbh, but y’all weren’t complaining about it then 😒.
BuckySarah is better than sambucky every day of the week.
The Marvels was a good ass movie & they’re one of my favorite teams in the mcu. I’ll never forgive cbm sites & online dudebros for killing the hype from the moment the film was announced.
I adore America Chavez & Kamala Kahn and I want to see them in everything. They must be protected at all costs.
Multiverse of Madness had shitty characterisation & basically just copy-pasted the ‘grief made me go off the deep end & hurt people, then I realised and stopped myself’ storyline from Wandavision… but Wanda was extremely selfish & apathetic to other people’s suffering from the time she was introduced in the mcu. MoM didn’t make her like that.
Wanda should’ve been looking for Vision (her actual real life boyfriend whom she spent years with irl) in MoM instead of the kids that weren’t even real that she spent like a week using as characters in her sitcom.
Making everyone forget Peter Parker wasn’t profound or poetic in any way- it was just frustrating and needlessly cruel.
I’m begging marvel to understand that heroes don’t have to be in constant suffering to be heroic & villains don’t have to sacrifice themselves to achieve redemption. Let characters heal and atone, you absolute weirdos.
What If…? is the most boring show ever. I’d rather watch Secret Invasion or She-Hulk.
Season 2 of Loki is, in a cinematic & artistic sense, the best marvel project period.
Loki season 1 was meh- more of a fun au than anything because his characterisation kinda sucked. Season 2 fixed it, though, and made it way easier for me to incorporate this version of Loki back into the larger mcu.
Having Steve stay in the past with Peggy was stupid af.
I don’t hate Peggy (or Captain Carter), though. I actually think she’s pretty cool.
I don’t really love Steve. He’s arrogant & they never really let him have flaws & something about him being a perfect metaphor for the American military industrial complex (and marvel painting that as a good thing) doesn’t sit right with me.
The Illuminati got done dirty and the only reason they went down so fast was because Wanda had all that plot armor.
I thought the retcon of having Wanda be “destined” to become the Scarlet Witch since birth was an annoying cop-out. Her powers originating from being experimented on with an infinity stone was way more interesting.
Loki & Wanda have almost the exact same powers.
Nebula deserved a bigger rule in killing Thanos & everything else moving forward.
I love Kathryn Newton but her acting as Cassie Lang was the worst acting I’ve ever seen in the mcu, like it was outrageously bad.
I’m glad Sam is the new Captain America and not Bucky.
The fact that Bucky probably isn’t gonna be one of Thee lead characters in the upcoming avengers movies feels sick and twisted.
Secret Invasion was actually passable until the G’iah scene at the end. That ruined it. And Nick Fury deserved way better for his solo series.
Kang is so much more interesting than Doctor Doom. I really hope they just recast him.
Carol Danvers does NOT deserve the hate she gets.
I actually disliked Carol until The Marvels. That movie made me a stan.
The way people treat Monica as Wanda’s little inferior pet creation or smth & then brag about it is uhh very sus.
I don’t like sylvie (bc she’s an amalgamation of 3 different comic characters- which killed any hopes of them appearing individually in the mcu, the creators used her existence to butcher Loki’s genderfluid rep, & she was written poorly) & I HATE sylki (bc it’s weird & unnecessary).
Marvel isn’t dead. I actually love where they’re taking things. But that’s just me.

Can I ask a Cassie Lang× male reader where reader sees her in her costume for the first time and get turned on by her
Tumblr media
Cassie Lang x male!reader
For the last year you had been working with Cassie and Hank studying the quantum realm and Hank was more than happy to help when you wanted to surprise Cassie with a suit of her own.
"We should be able to give Cassie the suit by next week, just needs a few finishing touches," Hank says proudly.
"You're not going to tell Scott about this right? He knows she's been messing around with some of his old tech but I don't think he's ready to see her become a superhero yet without going into worried dad mode," You ask him as you're inspecting the suit with the intention of shrinking it before Cassie arrives at the lab.
"Don't worry Y/N, it's Cassie's decision to tell her father," he says putting away his tools that he was using to make some adjustments to the suit.
"Tell my dad what?" Cassie asks from the doorway making you jump in surprise and drop the suit.
"Hey babe, we were just you know… talking about the quantum realm," you say, subtly trying to kick the suit under the table.
"What is that on the ground?" Cassie asks, raising an eyebrow.
"Nothing," you shrug.
"Y/N," Cassie says more sternly.
"Give it up kid, we've been caught," Hank says.
"Okay well we still have a few kinks to work out but…" you say picking the suit up, "Hank and I made you your own suit."
Her face lights up and a huge smile grows, "are you serious?"
"I hope you like it," you say, handing it to her.
"I love it," she cheers, holding the suit out in front of her and admiring it before hugging you tightly, "thank you so much Y/N and you too grandpa," she adds giving Hank a hug as well.
"You've been working hard Cassie, you deserve it," he tells her.
"You should try it on," you suggest, wanting to make sure it fits okay.
"Sure," she says all giddy, slipping it on over her clothes.
She zips up the purple suit and your jaw literally drops seeing her for the first time.
"You look great," Hank smiles, noticing you awestruck by your girlfriend, "close your mouth son or you're gonna catch flies in there."
You snap back to reality and Cassie presses the center of her suit, shrinking down like an ant for a moment before returning to normal size.
"And it works," she smiles, "you did a great job grandpa."
"Thank you but Y/N deserves the credit he did most of the work," Hank states, "I'll give you two a minute alone before we begin our research."
Hank leaves and Cassie approaches you, wrapping her arms around your neck with your hands going to her waist.
"This is an amazing surprise Y/N, thank you," she smiles, kisses you sweetly.
"I can't take my eyes off of you Cass, I mean not that I can normally but in that suit you're extra breathtaking."
"So you're saying I look hot?" She teases.
"Really, really hot," you say, kissing her again, more heated this time.
"Maybe I should wear the suit while we are working tonight since I look so hot in it," she grins.
You make a fake coughing sound and smirk, "actually I think I'm coming down with something, we should skip researching tonight and go back to my place."
"Hey grandpa Hank," Cassie shouts, "Y/N isn't feeling good we are gonna head home for the night so he can get some rest."
"Sure thing kids," Hank shouts back from the other room knowing fully well you aren't 'sick' but he doesn't mind, you're young and in love and deserve a night off after how hard you all have been working.
You barely make it through your front door before Cassie's lips are back on yours, she's still wearing the suit so your touch is met with cold metal.
"As incredible as you look, I think you need to take the suit off if you want to continue this," you chuckle.
She hits the center of her suit and it shrinks down returning to her regular clothes.
"Much better," you smile, picking her up and carrying her across your apartment towards your bedroom.
"Guess you're feeling better," she teases, kissing along your jaw.
You make another coughing sound and lay her down on your bed, "actually I think I need a visit from doctor Cassie."
"Hmm, you should take your clothes off so I can do a full exam," she laughs.
"Well if that's what the doctor orders," you smile, beginning to unbutton your shirt.

Cassie takes care of sick reader
Pairing: Cassie Lang x Reader
Tags/Warnings: Size Difference, fluff(?), idk i thought it was cute
Length: 524 words
Summary: Cassie takes care of you when you're sick with a cold despite you wanting to be productive.
You felt like death. Your sinuses were both backed up, your face feeling like someone was squeezing you tight. Breathing through your mouth has been the only way to sleep the last few nights and it’s been absolute hell. Or it would’ve been hell if not for…
“I’m back! I’m back!”
The apartment shook when the door downstairs shut and when her footsteps shook the place and when she ran headfirst into the top of the door frame. She landed on her butt. “Ow!” Cassie, who’s only had her powers for a few months since escaping the quantum realm and after the powers of her suit merged with her. She was still getting used to them.
She shrank down to her normal size and tried going through the door again, this time without hurting herself. She carried a plastic bag from the pharmacy down the street. She dumped it onto the bed: nasal sprays, decongestants, cough drops, and tissues. “Oh! And…” She reached into her pocket and removed another, much tinier bag. She dropped a blue pym particle disc on it and it instantly grew to normal size. “Soup and crackers!”
The gratefulness and thanks filled you with warmth, so fortunate to have a friend like Cassie. Even if she could be a little…much sometimes. Especially in her efforts to help.
“Thank you,” you said, unwrapping a cough drop.
“I’ll get you a spoon and napkins from downstairs.” She ran off to fetch the utensils.
You’d been in bed for days at this point binging shows you’ve already seen a thousand times on Netflix. What you really wanted was to get some fresh air, actually be productive with your day rather than sit and wait. You were incredibly bored being home alone all day. You got out of bed and wrapped a robe around yourself as you walked, sniffling and sneezing, to your window to open it. Maybe you’d draw today, or journal something. You were feeling creative.
“Hey!” Cassie was back standing in the doorway. “What are you doing? You’re sick, you need to rest.”
“I’m fine, Cass. Really.”
“You don’t sound fine. And you’re letting the cold in.”
“Listen, thank you for everything. I’m already feeling better cause of you. I just want to get up and move around a little.”
She sighed. “Fine, but after your soup. You need to eat something.”
“I’ll get to it in a minute,” you said.
Tumblr media
Then she was growing. You stood back watching her slowly grow taller. “Soup first.”
“Cass-“ you started but then you were up in the air, Cassie lifting you back onto the bed. “Eat. I’m not leaving until you do.” The giant girl stood looming over you.
You took a few sips of the broth and actually felt a little better, the warmth filling your bones. You almost laughed at how good it tasted. “Thank you.”
Cassie smiled at you. “I have to run, meet my dad for lunch. I’ll be back later this afternoon, cool?”
You agreed and she lifted you up into a big hug before carefully, slower this time, ducking to avoid hitting her head as she left.

Trip to a Coffee Shop; a Harvey & Scott Drabble Part Thirteen: The Sick Ant
"Harvey? Tell me that's you." Scott's voice, hoarse and scratchy, called from behind the counter seconds after Harvey entered the coffee shop. Harvey couldn't see him. "I need help."
Harvey tried to squash the worry as he hurried behind the counter. Sitting on the floor, slumped against the counter, was Scott Lang looking absolutely miserable. He was coated in sweat, there were bags under his eyes, his hair was a scruffy mess and there were splats of vomit on his shirt.
"Jesus, you look like shit," Harvey said, kneeling in front of him. "How long have you been sitting here?"
"Too long. Waaay too long," Scott groaned. "I tried to make my way to my room but I collapsed halfway. I kept throwing up and my body feels numb and..."
"It's okay, kid. I'll get you to your room," Harvey said, schooling his voice into something gentle. "We'll change your shirt too. Come on."
Harvey stood and held his hand out for Scott to take, and he did so with a poor excuse of a grip. Harvey slowly helped Scott stand, though he still slouched and he had to take a few deep breaths to calm himself before they could move.
Thankfully, Scott's room was right behind the counter so they didn't have to walk that far to his bed. It still took a little time thanks to how slow they had to move, and it was clear that Scott was struggling to not throw up again. Harvey carefully sat Scott on his bed.
"Lift your arms for me," he instructed.
The fact that Scott did so without protesting or complaining was a testament to how miserable he really was. Harvey pulled Scott's dirty shirt off and threw it in the laundry basket. He went to his small wardrobe and searched until he found a muscle shirt. Scott was able to slip it on himself.
While Scott laid on his back, Harvey went to the storage room/kitchen and got a bowl for Scott to throw up in. Before leaving, he grabbed an icepack from the freezer and a hand towel.
"You don't have to stay," Scott said when Harvey came back. "I just needed to get back to my room."
"I'm staying whether you like it or not," Harvey replied. He put the bowl and hand towel on the nightstand.
He placed the icepack on Scott's forehead and the guy practically jumped out of his skin. "COLD!"
"Obviously," Harvey said, dryly. "Keep that on your forehead. It'll help. Do you have any medicine here?"
Scott shook his head. Harvey sighed. "Alright, I'll be back in a bit with some medicine then. Stay here, don't get up from bed. There's a bowl on the nightstand for when you need to throw up."
"Thank you, Harvey..."
Harvey shrugged, lightly ruffled Scott's sweat-soaked hair. "Get some rest. I'll be back soon."
With that, Harvey's day of taking care of a Sick Scott Lang started. He bought cough syrup, Tylenol, different cans of soup, other cold medicine. Was it a bit excessive? Maybe. But it was just in case Scott got another fever. This way, he wouldn't run out quickly.
Throughout the day, Scott was in and out of consciousness. Most times when he woke up, he'd vomit, complain about the cough syrup, and pass out again. He was never awake long enough for Harvey to ask if he was willing to try some soup.
There was a time where Scott started freaking out, claiming that he was dying. He didn't want to die yet, he had to live and watch Cassie grow up because he missed time. He freaked out so bad, Harvey called Cassie and had her talk Scott to sleep. The poor child was scared for her dad. It took a while for Harvey to assure her that her dad wasn't really dying.
Around 10:30PM, Harvey tried to get Scott to eat some soup. Of course, the kid was pouting and whining, saying he'd only throw it up. Harvey agreed with that, but Scott still needed to eat. It took a whole fifteen minutes to convince Scott to have a couple spoonful's.
Somehow, Scott managed to keep it down but he passed out shortly after. When he was out again, Harvey cleaned up the vomit bowl, replaced Scott's icepack, and put the rest of the soup in the microwave for later. He turned all the lights off in the shop, locked the front door and sat next to Scott's bed.
XXX
Scott still felt miserable when he woke up the next afternoon, but it wasn't nearly as bad as the day before. He didn't even throw up as soon as he woke up. He wasn't as hot, probably because he had two icepacks on him now. It was hard to keep his eyes open but he didn't want to drift into a nightmare about dying.
He licked his dry lips, shifted onto his side, one of his icepacks sliding down his forehead. He adjusted it and yawned loudly. It felt great to be awake and not want to throw up. When Scott looked up, he blinked, surprised at the sight.
Harvey was still sitting in the same chair, out like a light, no doubt exhausted from caring for Scott the day prior. Thankfully, the man didn't look like he was getting sick.
There was a comfortable warmth in Scott's chest. He smiled at the thought that Harvey stayed the whole time. Down the line, whenever Harvey needed his assistance, Scott was going to stay as long as he needed.
If only everyone knew that Harvey Specter wasn't as rough and cold as people thought he was.

Okay so about Quantumania
I mean I liked it yeah maybe Cassie Lang  ‘s speech made it look like early 2000s superhero movie including Modok  speech but hey that was fun
I honestly thought it was the living tribunal that banished Kang for some reason never thought it was his variants
Yoooo Pharaoh Rama-Tut version of Kang was sick
AND WE GOT SO MANY Kang  variants just like that comic book scene and 2 post credits scenes including Loki
So Loki and Mobius travel back in to find Kang?? And Mobius has no idea whatsoever is going on !!

i haven’t logged in a while but i seriously need to say something because it’s been bothering me so much. everyone hating kathryn newton for something completely out of her control has got to be the most pathetic thing i’ve ever seen. y’all prey on these young women like a leech. it’s disgusting. kathryn is getting so much unnecessary hate for her role as cassie lang and it’s completely unjustified. she is an incredible actress, just take a look at any of her projects. it is not her fault cassie was recast and ant man quantumania had poor writing and directing choices. so i’m gonna need this “kathryn newton is a bad actor” bullshit to stop and everybody to just shut up if they have nothing nice to say about her. it’s hard to act well if the script is giving you nothing. and the film wasn’t even that bad. if you were half decent you’ll know kathryn feels passionate about this and would stop talking shit about a young actress simply doing her job. it’s not like she knew about the recast either. i’m sick of these horrible misogynistic mcu fans especially acting as if they give a shit about emma fuhrmann saying she was better when they probably don’t even care about her. leave kathryn alone, she is a great cassie!

My top 8 movies of 2023
Hey folks! Its that time again! 2023... the year that I finally went back to the cinema again after having been away from it since 2020.* It was also the first time that I got sick after having been healthy and sickness free for four years (thanks to good hand hygiene and social distancing). It was only a matter of time I suppose. But now you dont have to wait to the end of 2024 for my list of movies I saw in 2023 thats ranked according to my own personal taste and bias! Why 8? Because Im not a professional filmcritic who has time to see most of the movies that came out this year and sometimes other duties got in the way. So I only had time to see 8 movies in the cinema**.
(*Unless you count that time I saw No time to die, which was in 2021.) **Actually, I only had time to see 7. One of these films was on Netflix. I was gonna make it a top 7 list but I decided to put it on my list since: A: the film came out 2023. and B: I technically saw it in its intended format since it never had a theatrical release. So its not like I missed an opportunity to see it in theaters.
But anyway, with all the technicalities of the way, here are the movies…
8: Antman and the wasp: Quantumania Scott Lang, his daughter Cassie, Hope Van Dyne, Dr. Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne are all sucked into the Quantum realm. When trying to get back to their own world they run into an evil man named Kang, hijinx ensue. It did not exceed my expectations but it didn`t go below them either. I expected the usual MCU quality from this and was not dissapointed. Safe and familiar. Not great, not bad, just OK.
7: The Marvels Carol Danvers teams up with her old friends daughter Monica and Kamala Khan, a big admirer of her, thanks to the power of an ancient, alien bling to fight an angry Kree woman who wants to fix her home planet at the cost of other planets, Hijinx ensue. Like Quantumania I didnt expect this to be better than the average MCU movie and was not disappointed. Its higher on the list than Quantumania because Iman Vellani is fun and I like the musical scene. Its OK.
6: Wish Reminds me of Bryan Singers Superman Returns, in that it is a love letter and homage to something that came before it, but other than that it is not much else. I wanted this movie to do better at the box office, but I also wanted it to be better. People are disappointed in this because this was supposed to be a milestone, the movie made to celebrate that the Disney animation studio has been around for 100 years! It just couldnt live up to the hype. But if you take all the hype out of the equation and just view as its own thing its… OK. I liked it more than Pocahontas. The script could have been polished a little and the songs could have been better (especially "This is the thanks I get"). Like I said, it`s OK. Worth a watch.
5: The Super Mario Bros. Movie At first I had some reservations about Chris Pratts voice coming out of Marios mouth, but it quickly grew on me. Wasnt too crazy about Fred Armisens as Cranky Kong though, but he didnt have much screentime. It may be a movie about Super Mario, but it is also made by Illumination, and there were times where I could feel their fingerprints on the movie. Of course, Why shouldnt there be? They made it after all. Yes, but remember, Illumination made Minions, the cinematical equivalent of entertaining a one year old by dangling your car keys in front of them. There was one scene where they used used Ahas "Take on me" that had me scratching my head and wonder if that really was the best song for that scene. Good despite being an Illumination movie. Id tell you to go see it, but judging from its box office theres probably a chance that you already have.
4: M3gan After her parents die in a car accident, eight year old Cady is sent to live with her aunt Gemma who works as a roboticist at a high-tech toy company. Gemma has built a humanoid child-sized doll powered by artificial intelligence called M3gan. M3gan becomes Cadys companion, babysitter and does things that Gemma doesnt have time to do, like play with her and reminding her to flush the toilet. Then after a while, things go sideways and M3gan starts to become overprotective of Cady. This movie reminds a little about the Nighmare on Elmstreet sequels in that it isnt afraid to be silly. Right from the start it tells us with a commercial for a silly toy that it is a comedy and a satire. In that way its similar to Paul Verhoeven`s Robocop. It has comments about parenting, the use of A.I. in todays society and it makes you ask questions, like: Would M3gan have stayed good if Cady had remembered to flush that damn toilet?
3: The boy and the heron Mahito, a young boy who lost his mother in a hospital fire during World War 2 moves into a new home in a rural area to live with his father and his new wife, Natsuko. One day Natsuko disappears and when Mahito looks for her he meets a peculiar grey heron who at first tries to mislead him but then helps him in his search for Natsuko. It takes a while for the plot to get moving and some of the characters feel a little underwritten. That little criticism aside, its an interesting, visually beautiful and very surreal movie. A welcome alternation from the other animated big studio movies that Ive seen so much of lately. The kind that is aimed at such a broad, general audience that you can really feel how focused grouped it was. It is very unapologetically a Miyazaki movie.
2: Nimona In a futuristic medieval kingdom surrounded by a great wall, Ballister Boldheart, the first commoner to become a knight, is framed for the murder of the Queen. When trying to clear his name and prove his innocence he runs into Nimona, a chaotic shapeshifter who helps him in his endeavour. Ballister learns a few things about his sidekick but also about the kingdom he had sworn to protect. It gets a better spot than The boy and the heron because it feels more accessible, like it wanted to reach a wide audience but at the same time still keep some artistic integrity. If I have any criticism its aimed at the character Todd. He feels like a character from an Illumination movie that accidentally wandered on to the set and no one had the heart to tell him that he was in the wrong place, so they just let him be in the movie. It does the "3D that looks 2D" a little better than Wish, is fun and has some sincere, heartfelt moments. Its message is important, not just in this time but had it come out earlier it would still have been just as important. It dares to do a little more than most animated movies that has come out lately and the fact that it was made and released at all with it`s troubled production history is itself pretty damn impressive.
And now… My number one pick…. will be revealed after an honorable mention!
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem Its the story that you have heard before: Four turtles and a rat get mutated to a more humanoid shape and size thanks to some goo, they live in the sewers and fight bad guys using ninjitsu. But here is a little new take on that old story: This time the four turtles are curious about and want to be part of the surface world but their mentor and father figure forbids them because he is prejudiced against humans. So its basically "TMNT meets The little mermaid". The Turtles feel more like teenagers in this one than they have in any of the previous movies. It has an anarchic, juvenile charm, deliberately misshapen design on some characters and beneath the immature humor there is also alot of sincerity. Its familiar, different, its funny. Give it a watch.
Why is this an Honorable Mention? Because like Nimona I didnt see it in the cinema but unlike Nimona it did have a theatrical release and in these lists I make Im very much about the movies Ive seen in the cinema, which is the best place to see a movie. Because of that I was hesitant to put it on this list but decided to include it since it came out 2023. Also, I didnt know where to put it on my list. I think I`d place it higher than Wish.
And now… Drumroll please. My number one pick for 2023 iiis…
1: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 If I had a nickel for everytime a movie made in 2023 that had Chris Pratt in the lead role had “No sleep 'til Brooklyn” in its soundtrack Id have two nickels. Which isnt much, but its weird that it happened twice. It has jokes and funny moments but they dont cut off the moments that are sincere and heartfelt, it gives them room to breathe, (take notes Marvel). It feels like the end, not of a book, but of a chapter (because, lets be real, this is Marvel). A chapter has ended and James Gunn made sure to put a lot of work and love into telling a story that would feel right for the characters and their journey. In this day and age where many movies, atleast the Disney ones, have to have badguys with sympathetic backstories, or last minute redemptions, Chukwudi Iwujis High Evolutionary is a welcome change of pace. A modern day Dr Mengele so obsessed with creating a perfect society with the perfect race that he doesnt care who or how many dies in the process. In the end you are really rooting for this guy to get his ass handed to him. Even if it`s made clear in the post credit scenes that this is not the end and that we will see more of the Guardians, this movie gives a feeling of conclusion. You did good, Gunn. You did good. Also, congrats on having the first F-bomb in the MCU!
And those are the movies I saw in 2023.
Movies I wanted to see in 2023 but didnt get the chance to because of time or other duties: Oppenheimer, Barbie, Indiana Jones and the dial of destiny, Elemental and Cocaine bear.
Movies Im looking forward to in 2024 are: Dune 2, Deadpool 3, Inside out 2 and Furiosa: A Mad Max saga.
I hope that 2024 is, if not a good year for movies, then atleast not a bad one.
Written stuff: 53
Started writing this: 2023-12-24
I`m a little late with this one, but better late than never as they say.
Atleast I got it out before february, I consider that a win.
And as usual: English is not my first language, so if my writing doesn`t seem to flow naturally, you know why.

Sick as a Bug
Summary: While Scott goes off on a mission with the Avengers, Peter volunteers to babysit ten-year-old Cassie Lang at his apartment. Things are going pretty well until Cassie comes down with the flu, thrusting the teenager into a caretaking role that's a bit above his paygrade.
Word count: 3,452
Genre: Sickfic, fluffy illness, hurt/comfort
A/N: (Set in the same universe as The Bug Sitter and Friendly Neighborhood Craft Project, which all feature the adventures of Peter & Cassie, but the stories don’t need to be read in order.)
Thanks to @sallyidss and @xxx-cat-xxx for beta reading and giving me ideas!
Link to read on Ao3
“How’s it going, Peanut?” Scott Lang asked over the FaceTime call.
“Pretty good,” Cassie assured him. “We were playing tag in Peter’s apartment all morning, which was really fun because he let me wear his old suit and use the web-shooters!”
Peter took the phone from her and flipped the camera around to get Cassie’s whole outfit in the shot. The ten-year-old was wearing his homemade Spider-Man onesie, the sleeves and pant legs rolled-up to adjust for their height difference. She grinned and did a quick twirl for the camera.
Scott gave a low whistle. “Lookin’ sharp!” he remarked as Peter handed the phone back.
Cassie went on, “And then we walked to this sandwich shop for lunch and there was this really fat cat named Murph who liked to eat meatballs! You’d probably like him, even though you’re allergic,” she rambled. “How’s your mission going?”
“We’re still in the stakeout phase, so nothing too exciting yet. Unless you count beating Captain America at Uno three rounds in a row,” Scott replied with a smirk. “Did you finish all your homework?”
“Yeah, Peter helped me with the math,” Cassie said, glancing sideways at the teenager. “It was about fractions, so we practiced on some Hershey bars.”
Scott quirked an eyebrow at her. “I thought you were good at fractions?”
“I am.” Cassie shrugged. “I like chocolate.”
Scott chuckled and shook his head slowly. “Alright, well I just wanted to check in because I’ll have to turn off my phone now, but Peter has the number for the direct line to Mr. Stark’s suit, so I’m still here if there’s an emergency, okay?”
“Yeah I know,” she said, nodding. “We’re fine, daddy. And Peter’s really fun.”
“He better be—I’m paying him twelve bucks an hour,” Scott deadpanned.
Peter grinned and stuck his head in the frame. “Hey, you’re getting a super sitter,” he pointed out. “I feel like twelve is a bargain.”
“Touché,” Scott allowed. Addressing Cassie again, he said, “Alright, Mr. Stark wants to talk to Peter before we hang up so I’m gonna give him the phone now. Love you, Peanut.”
“Love you too,” she said, waving at him.
Cassie handed the phone back to Peter as Scott passed his to Tony.
“Uh, hey Mr. Stark,” Peter greeted as casually as he could manage. He figured he had a pretty good idea of what this call was about.
“Peter.” Through the camera, Tony cast him an unamused look. “Care to explain why I got an alert from Karen that you fired sixteen web grenades this morning?”
Peter rubbed one hand awkwardly at the back of his neck. “Um… so, it was part of a game we were playing…” He glanced back over his shoulder at the mess of tangled webs in the corner of his bedroom. An array of his old plastic action figures was suspended throughout. “But, uh, we’re done with that now.”
“Yeah, well I doubt May appreciates you shooting webs around her property any more than I do,” Tony retorted. “So maybe lay off the vigilante act for one day, capisce ?”
“Yeah, for sure, no problem,” Peter agreed easily.
“And kid?”
“Yeah?”
Tony held up a stern finger to the camera. “Don’t show her the taser webs.”
Out of the corner of his eye, Peter glanced at the homemade construction paper bullseye affixed to his closet door, covered in the sticky, still-buzzing web remnants. “Of course not, Mr. Stark.”
X
It had become a sort of tradition that Peter would watch Cassie anytime Scott was called into New York for a mission during one of his custody weekends. Honestly, Peter loved it—he’d do it even without the money (though he had no intention of telling Scott that anytime soon). Cassie was smart and funny, and it was nice getting to show off his Spider-Man equipment and powers to someone with just as much childlike enthusiasm as him.
After hanging up with Tony, the two spent the next few hours alternating between rounds of Wii bowling and building an elaborate Lego city before eventually switching over to hide and seek. Currently, Peter was sitting crouched in the front hall closet on a pile of winter boots, playing Tetris on his phone while he waited for Cassie to find him.
When he hit the next level, Peter paused the game and frowned at the time display on his screen. It’d been eight minutes since Cassie had first started counting—far longer than it should be taking her to discover his admittedly-not-great hiding place.
He opened the closet door. “Cassie?” he called, wincing as he unfolded his stiff legs and pulled himself to his feet. “Did you give up?”
But there was no response. His senses on edge, Peter made his way back to the living room, hoping that the girl was simply playing a trick on him.
Instead, he found her curled up on the end of the sofa, head resting on the armrest, fast asleep.
Alright, nap time it is.
Peter retrieved a fuzzy blanket from his bedroom and draped it over her sleeping form before plopping down in a nearby armchair to resume his game.
X
While Cassie slept, Peter finished his Spanish homework and tidied up his room a bit—the new web solvent he and Ned had concocted in chemistry was a godsend—and then prepared a box of mac and cheese. When it was done cooking, he padded back into the living room and tapped the sleeping girl’s shoulder.
“Hey Cassie?” he whispered.
With a groan, Cassie tugged the blanket tighter around herself and rolled away from him to face the back cushion.
Peter frowned and sat down behind her knees on the edge of the sofa. “Cassie?” he tried again. “You awake?”
She made a small, non-committal noise in her throat before blinking slowly up at him. “What time is it?” she murmured.
Pulling the blanket off of her, he tossed it to the other end of the sofa. “Like 5:30,” he replied as she sat up. “You were asleep like, two hours—I guess all the Spider-Manning wore you out.”
“Oh.” She yawned and rubbed at her eyes sleepily. “‘M’tired.”
“I can see that,” he laughed, getting to his feet. “But if you nap for too long now, you’ll be awake all night, and then your dad won’t let you hang out with me anymore.”
“Luis once let me drink two whole cans of Monster and he’s still allowed to watch me,” Cassie argued sleepily.
Peter snorted. “Probably shouldn’t test that.” He offered her a hand. “C’mon, let’s go eat.”
Cassie took his hand and followed him to the table where he had two steaming bowls of mac and cheese waiting. Peter wasted no time in digging into his own portion, but after watching Cassie half-heartedly poke at the noodles with her fork for several minutes, he paused.
“Do you not like mac and cheese?” he asked.
She shrugged. “I do. I’m just not very hungry.” Her gaze fell to her lap and then in a quieter voice, she asked, “Do you know what time daddy’s coming back?”
Peter gave her a sad smile; despite how supportive Cassie was of her dad’s role with the Avengers, he knew she couldn’t help getting anxious when Scott went on missions. “Not until late tonight,” he said gently. “Do you miss him?”
Cassie hesitated a moment before nodding a bit.
“It’s okay—he’ll be back soon enough,” Peter assured. “He’s got Black Widow, Captain America, and Iron Man with him, so he’s like, triple safe.”
A hint of a smile tugged at the corner of her mouth. “Yeah, and I made him take Antastasia with him—she’s the best flier.”
“See?” he said with a grin. “He’s got a whole team to take care of him.”
She sighed. “Yeah, I guess so.”
Figuring a distraction was in order, Peter changed the subject to Cassie’s new soccer team. She chatted with him—a bit less animatedly than usual—and managed a few bites before claiming she was full and heading back to the living room to curl up on the sofa with the blanket.
Peter sat down on the other end of the sofa. “Wanna watch something?” he offered. “Moana is on Netflix now.”
She shrugged tiredly. “‘Kay.”
As the movie played, Peter couldn’t help but notice how quiet Cassie seemed, but he figured it was just related to the mission. Scott had been gone nearly ten hours by that point, and depending on how the stakeout went, it could easily be another ten before he returned.
They’d made it about half-way through the movie when Cassie broke the silence. “Peter?” she asked, her voice a bit strained.
“Yeah?” He glanced over and immediately grew concerned when he saw the obvious discomfort in her expression. ”You okay?”
Cassie’s face had drained of color. She shook her head slightly. “My tummy doesn’t feel good.”
“Oh.” He paused the movie, focusing his full attention on Cassie as she swallowed hard. “Um… how? Like, you’re gonna be sick?”
She nodded, pushing herself up to sitting.
“Okay, uh”—Peter’s eyes darted around the room nervously—“let’s go to the bathroom then.” He untangled the blanket from her and quickly helped her up from the sofa and down the hall. She was trembling as he guided her down to kneel in front of the toilet.
“I don’t wanna throw up...” Cassie moaned, staring into the water.
Peter rubbed her back gently. “I know, I’m sorry, but you’ll feel better once it’s over,” he promised.
They sat like that for a few minutes, Cassie whimpering quietly between shallow breaths and Peter doing his best to comfort her before she suddenly leaned forward and started gagging into the bowl.
Peter winced in sympathy as she coughed up the few bites she’d managed of dinner, followed by her lunch. “Aw, Cassie…” he said softly. Strands of her long hair were hanging dangerously close to her mouth, so he gathered them together and held them up away from her face.
Tiny sobs were coming out in between Cassie’s retches and her whole body was trembling. Peter’s heart clenched; he’d never actually had to deal with a sick kid before.
When it seemed like she was done, Peter got to his feet and wet a washcloth with warm water at the sink. He crouched back down and carefully wiped the tears and vomit from her face, feeling totally out of his depth.
“I can try calling your dad,” he offered. “I don’t know if he’ll be able to pick up right away, but...”
To his surprise, fresh tears welled up in Cassie’s eyes at his words. She rubbed them away with the back of her hand, shaking her head. “No, don’t,” she begged, her voice coming out broken. “He was really excited to go on a real mission. I don’t want him to come home early just because I got sick.”
Looking into Cassie’s pleading eyes, Peter hesitated. He wished he’d gotten a bit more clarification on the definition of an ‘emergency’ before Scott had left—did a puking kid count, or was something only an emergency if it reached emergency room level? Maybe this was just a part of babysitting he’d been lucky enough to avoid up until now.
Peter let out a long sigh, running a hand through his hair as he debated what to do.
Finally, he pulled out his phone and pressed the first contact on his favorites list.
X
Half an hour later, Peter heard the sound of the apartment’s front door unlocking. Being mindful of the sleeping girl curled up beside him on the sofa, he carefully pushed himself up and crept towards the door.
May was standing there in the entryway, hanging her keys on the hook. “Hey,” she greeted quietly. She slipped off her coat, revealing the pink hospital scrubs underneath. “How’s she doing?”
Peter shrugged. “She’s not throwing up anymore at least. I think she has a fever but I couldn’t find the thermometer so I couldn’t check.” Sheepishly, he rubbed at the back of his neck. “I’m sorry to make you leave work early, I just didn’t know what to do…”
“No, sweetie, I’m glad you called,” May assured. She stepped forward to pull him into a warm hug; Peter hadn’t realized how tense he was until the feeling melted away in her embrace. “Plus, it’s been a while since I got to use the ‘I have a sick kid at home’ excuse,” she added.
As Peter released her, he huffed out a quick laugh. “Yeah, well, Mr. Stark made me promise to start telling adults when there are problems. It was my New Years resolution.”
She raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms over her chest in mock offense. “Oh, so Mr. Stark tells you what I’ve been telling you for years, and suddenly you listen?”
Peter grinned. “Better late than never, right?”
Rolling her eyes good-naturedly, May headed to her room to change out of her uniform as Peter slipped back into the living room to resume his vigil by the sleeping girl. Cassie was dressed in her pajamas now and a small trash can was resting beside the sofa. Every so often she would let out a tiny moan.
May returned a few minutes later dressed in yoga pants and a long-sleeve t-shirt, hair pulled up in a bun. She was carrying the very same digital thermometer Peter hadn’t been able to locate.
“Oh.” He frowned at the device. “Where was it?”
“In the bathroom. Same drawer it’s always in,” she said with a look of amusement. She held it out to him. “Here, you wanna give it a try?”
Peter took the thermometer and carefully inserted it into Cassie’s ear. She stirred a bit, but didn’t wake. When it beeped, he pulled it out and flipped the device around to read the screen. “It says 100.8,” he reported. “That’s a fever, right?”
May hummed affirmatively. “Not a very high one, but yes. We’ll keep an eye on it. And you said she’s only thrown up once?”
“Yeah, so far,” Peter confirmed. “She just seems really tired, and before she fell asleep she was starting to get a cough and saying she kind of aches all over.”
“Sounds like the flu,” May said sympathetically. “Just have to watch her temperature and make sure she’s drinking lots of fluids. Have you texted Scott yet?”
Peter shook his head. “No, I didn’t wanna worry him since I wasn’t sure if he could come back or not.”
“I would say text him anyway,” she advised. “Parents usually like to know these things, even if they make them worry. That’s kinda part of the job.”
While Peter typed out the message, she smoothed Cassie’s hair back away from her sweaty face. The little girl stirred again at the touch and this time blinked up at them, looking momentarily disoriented.
“Hey, honey,” May said softly. “How are you feeling?”
Shrugging slightly, Cassie pulled the blanket tighter around herself, coughing a few times.
“That good, huh?” May hummed. As Cassie shifted to sitting, May got up from the floor and slid in between her and the armrest. Turning to Peter, she said, “If you need a break, I can take over for a while.”
With a half-smile, Peter sat down on Cassie’s opposite side. “Nah, that’s okay. We were almost to my favorite part in the movie—that song with the bedazzled crab.”
“His name is Tamatoa,” Cassie corrected in a murmur. “Fake fan.”
“I’m gonna call him Mr. Shiny,” Peter announced with a grin. He grabbed the remote to unpause the movie.
They made it another thirty minutes before Cassie suddenly sat up and started gagging into the trash can.
This time, May held Cassie’s hair and rubbed her back as she heaved. Peter sat there, feeling awkward and unsure of what to do. May seemed to sense his unease.
“Hey Peter?” she said, glancing over at him while Cassie continued to vomit. “Can you go see if we have any Gatorade in the pantry? And can you get a wet washcloth and some hair ties from the bathroom?”
“Yeah, sure,” he agreed gratefully and hopped up from the sofa.
When he returned with the requested items, he found the two sitting back on the sofa, his aunt gently stroking Cassie’s hair. Cassie looked even more drained than before, and she barely reacted as May took the cloth from him and wiped her face.
“Cassie? You okay?” Peter asked in concern, but she only made a small noise in her throat and blinked back at him blankly.
“Too hot,” she mumbled.
“I just took her temp again. Fever’s up to 102 now,” May informed, still combing through Cassie’s hair with her fingers.
Peter put a straw in the Gatorade bottle and held it to Cassie’s lips so she could take a sip. “Is that bad?” he asked worriedly.
“Not necessarily,” she replied. “Fevers fluctuate—it’s just the body’s way of fighting infection. If it goes any higher, we’ll give her some Tylenol.”
Peter relaxed a bit; he’d never been more grateful to have a nurse for an aunt. Once Cassie had gotten her drink, she lay back down with her head on May’s lap, blanket abandoned, and they resumed the movie. But Peter was distracted, watching as May idly sectioned the girl’s hair into parts and began to braid it. Cassie slipped back to sleep, seeming finally content.
“How do you do that?” he asked after a bit.
She glanced at him. “Do what? French braid?”
“Yeah,” he said, but that was only part of his question. He was really asking about her whole presence—how did she manage to radiate comfort to the point that a sick child who only vaguely knew her just curled up on her lap and slept, looking calmer than she had in hours?
“Practice,” was her reply, which he supposed covered both questions. May nodded down at the braid. “Here, hold this piece.”
Peter took the section of hair from her and she showed him how to weave it with the other parts, pulling more strands in as they went. The finished braids were loose and uneven, pieces falling out the sides, but May assured him it was alright for a first attempt.
“You know,” she said casually, “if you ever take a night off from patrolling, we can order some take-out and I’ll teach you how to do a fishtail too. You can expand your repertoire.”
He smiled a bit. “Yeah, I’d like that.”
X
It was past midnight by the time Tony and Scott made it back to the apartment. Cassie was stretched out on the sofa’s pull-out bed now, cuddled up under blankets while Peter dozed in the adjacent armchair. Both kids woke as May opened the front door and led the two men into the living room.
Tony stopped just inside the room’s threshold, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed and muttering something about kids being germ factories when May offered him a seat. Meanwhile, Scott headed straight over to sit on the edge of the mattress.
“Hey Peanut,” he greeted quietly, cupping Cassie’s forehead in his palm. “How’re you doing?”
“’M ‘kay,” she mumbled. “How was the mission?”
He gave a short laugh. “Kinda boring, honestly. The stakeout ended up being the most exciting part—once we actually stormed in, the bad guys surrendered on the spot.”
(Peter was pretty sure there was more to it than that, judging from the slight limp Tony had displayed walking in and the way his left arm was currently braced against his ribcage—the real reason he assumed the man didn’t want to leave the support of the wall—along with the bruises just visible beneath the rim of Scott’s t-shirt. But the teenager kept his thoughts to himself.)
“Oh,” Cassie said through a yawn. It morphed into a few coughs at the end. “That’s lame.”
Scott smiled and smoothed her hair. “Thank you so much for looking after her, both of you,” he said sincerely, glancing back to each May and Peter in turn. “I’m sorry I couldn’t make it back sooner.”
“It’s fine,” Peter assured. “We had fun for the most part.”
“Yeah, we did,” Cassie said sleepily. “He even let me fire his taser webs.”
“Peter! ” Tony and May both snapped while Scott gave him a confused look.
“She’s got a fever—she’s delirious,” Peter said quickly. “Doesn’t even know what she’s saying. Right, Cassie?” He gave the girl a pointed look.
“Who’s Cassie?” she asked innocently.
Before the adults could say anything else, she broke into an unexpectedly violent coughing fit, diverting Scott and May’s attention as they helped her sit up on the bed and rubbed her back. Still hacking, the ten-year-old shot him a wink.
Tony, having seen the whole exchange from his position in the doorway, just rolled his eyes. “Great, he’s got a sidekick now...” he muttered.

I'm kinda sorry for this question, but Morgan and Cassie bonding over loosing their father at a young age?
me, already crying: how dARE YOU
no but this would be a rlly good fic!! just sayin 👀
• first of all, in my heart, morgan never lost ANYTHING because tony lives oN IN ALL OUR HEARTS ;-; I miss him
• but going along with canon ( ;-; ), I think before they bond, there would probably be some animosity. like morgan is pretty young and kiddos don’t rlly always know how to deal with emotions. she probably sees cassie, someone who got her dad back after losing him, and is super jealous. maybe she wrestles with “why does she get her dad when I can’t have mine?” “why her and not me?” “what did I do wrong?”
• maybe morgan is unintentionally rude to her, just because when she sees cassie and her dad, she just gets inexplicably angry and sick to her stomach. so she’s just rlly blunt and rude
• cassie isn’t stupid tho, and she’s significantly older than morgan (if I’m not mistaken), so she can probably understand why morgan is angry! she doesn’t get short with her because she lost her dad when she was only a little older than morgan. she knows exactly what it feels like to look at happy daughters with their fathers who they take for granted. she knows exactly what it’s like to despise them for just having what she wants so bad, without even having to ask for it
• so she probably is super gentle with morgan. she’s really cautious about breaching the conversation. a couple different versions of “I know how you’re feeling” and a couple explanations of how it feels, of how it hurts, of how it still hurts sometimes, even after she’s gotten her dad back. because there are things he was never there for, and because there are things she was never able to turn to him for, and that hurts sometimes
• I feel like the interaction would be less mutual bonding and more cassie becoming that someone morgan can turn to. like when morgan finds herself thinking “wow I wanna go tell dad about this thing that just happened!” and then realizes he’s not there to tell, she can go talk to cassie about it. and cassie will reassure her that it’s normal and ok!!
• cassie could be like morgan’s big sister!!! and I know u said cassie and morgan, but also I feel like peter could help morgan, too!! he’s an orphan; he knows what she’s going through!! I think they could be a squad of fatherless kiddos who support each other when it gets tough ;-;

“I watched you from the walls for years, you really can’t embarrass yourself further in front of me.” With Scott Lang please :)
“I watched you from the walls for years, you really can’t embarrass yourself further in front of me.”
yesyesyesyesyesyesyesyes A THOUSAND TIMES YES
from this post
———————————————————————
Times were tough at the Lang residence. Scott wasn’t allowed to leave the house, his daughter was only allowed to visit on weekends, and worst of all, he worried about his future. How could an ex-con like him find work again? How could he possibly put behind everything he had been through in Germany? Often times, he sat on the couch, wrapped in a blanket, TV off, staring blankly at the wall.
Other times, he danced.
He wasn’t very good at it, but hey, who was watching? Scott would rev up his ever-growing 80s playlist, crank his speakers up to ten and let his arms flail and his legs go wild. For an hour and forty-six minutes, he would dance and sing and act out fight scenes he had choreographed in his head until he was just about ready to pass out.
Today was an especially stressful day. Cassie was sick and didn’t want to come, so for the first Saturday afternoon in a while, Scott was alone. There really wasn’t anything good on TV, and he had a nightmare the night before. If the good vibes wouldn’t come to him, he would make them himself.
He was maybe an hour into the playlist when he closed his eyes, spun around on one socked foot, struck a pose, and opened his eyes to the most confusing sight he had ever seen.
You were, in a word, fascinated with this human. For whatever reason, he never left the house anymore, which made borrowing close to impossible, but he was boisterous and goofy and just the right amount of weird. Eating cereal and crying at black and white Spanish movies at 10 p.m. was not normal human behavior, but it was normal for this one.
The dancing was especially entertaining. It was like a free show every day. The music was catchy and you had learned the words. Sometimes, you even danced with him. You discovered this crack in the old wood that allowed you to sit in its threshold and observe the human.
You were so caught up in the music that when Scott’s eyes landed on you, it took you a few seconds to realize what was going on.
Though Scott was staring right at you, he still couldn’t quite believe what he was seeing. A tiny person? In his house? He squinted — no, it wasn’t Hank or Hope. They didn’t appear to be wearing a suit, either. Just some makeshift clothing. Was this a new Avenger with shrinking powers, sent to spy on him? Was it the government?
For some reason, you weren’t very scared. Years of watching the human from afar told you that he was a very relaxed person. He wasn’t overly excitable and didn’t seem to have a malicious bone in his body. You certainly didn’t mean to be seen, but it also didn’t seem like the worst possible thing that could have happened. It almost felt inevitable.
Scott stared at you, mouth agape and a thousand thoughts swirling around his mind like a hurricane. He realized he was still stuck in a ridiculous pose, so he put his arms back to his side and straightened himself. He should have figured there were real-life tiny people. Why else would Hank want to build shrinking technology?
You were staring back, mouth also agape and equally fascinated by what was in front of you. But Scott didn’t think you’d break the ice, so it was up to him.
“Um... hi,” Scott said, awkwardly giving a small wave. “What are you doing in my house?”
You tilted your head. For a human, he didn’t seem to be very surprised at what he was seeing. You lifted your arm and grabbed onto the wood for support as you spoke up. “Uh... I live here.”
“You live here? Last time I checked, I live here. Oh, no, they didn’t take my house away, did they?”
“What?” you blurted. “Who’s they?”
“Woo didn’t send you here, did he?”
“Woo? Woo who?”
“Jeez, you don’t need to act so excited about it.”
“Hold up!” you yelled, throwing your hands up. Scott pressed his lips together. “What... what are you talking about?”
“You’re government, aren’t you? Here to keep tabs on me, make sure I’m not breaking the Accords?”
“Government?” You blinked in disbelief. “You think I work for the government?”
“Well...” Scott started to attempt an explanation, but couldn’t really find one. “Why else would you be here?”
“I told you. I live here.”
“...so you’re not government.”
“Oh brother,” you mumbled to yourself, taking an exasperated seat. “Um. No?”
“...You wouldn’t happen to be an Avenger, would you?”
“An Avenger? Am I missing something here?”
“Well excuse me for trying to come up with an explanation as to why there’s someone sitting on my wall who’s two inches tall!”
“Hey, I’m four inches, thank you very much,” you scoffed.
Scott ran a hand through his hair. This wasn’t going very well at all. You sighed and took a breath. You could understand why he’d be so flustered.
“No, I’m not government. Or an Avenger. I’m just... a regular borrower.”
Scott stared at you blankly, trying to piece together what a borrower could be, before it dawned on him and his eyes went wide. “Oh wow. You’re really just that small!”
“I didn’t think that was even in question.”
“Gosh, sorry, that’s really embarrassing of me.” He let out a laugh. “An Avenger. What was I thinking?”
His laugh made you laugh. “I watched you from the walls for years, you really can’t embarrass yourself further in front of me.”
“Oh, trust me, I’ve done a lot of embarrassing things in my life. Being put in a maximum security prison’s definitely up there. I’m used to small jails, you know?”
You gave him a quizzical stare.
“This ankle monitor is pretty bad, too, though I— wait a second. Did you say you’ve been watching me for years? ”
You gulped. You thought he either didn’t hear that part or didn’t care.
“I—um, I mean, I was just — I was speaking metaphorically—”
Scott’s expression immediately softened. “Woah, hey, I’m not mad!” He realized he was gazing down at you, and he lowered himself ever so slightly to be at your eye level. Now, he could see the way you gripped the wall protectively. “I’m just... confused. What do you mean you’ve watched me from the walls?”
“It means I live in your walls!” you cried, not realizing how shaky your voice had gotten. You steadied your breathing before continuing. “That’s what borrowers do. We live in the walls of houses.”
“Like mice?”
You sniffed a laugh. “Yes, like mice. Which I help keep away from here, mind you. When was the last time you saw a mouse around here?”
“Oh, gosh, I can’t even remember. Years ago.” You smirked and raised your eyebrow, and once it clicked, Scott’s eyes lit up.
“That’s so cool!” Scott smiled. You knew he was a quirky human, but even you were a bit surprised at how nonchalant he was being. “Do you use those little toothpicks that look like a sword?”
“There are toothpicks that look like swords?”
“Oh yeah!” Scott grinned. “They’d be perfectly your size, actually.”
“Huh. Y’know, that might actually be helpful to shoo away beetles and spiders.”
Scott grimaced. He had gotten used to ants, but spiders is where he drew the line. “Oh, gross.”
“It’s just a part of the job,” you shrugged. There was an awkward pause before you spoke again. “I, um. I’m sorry for startling you.”
“No, no,” Scott shook his head, “I’m sorry for making you listen to the same music all the time!”
“No, it’s fine, I... I actually kinda like it,” you blushed. “Usually, borrowers keep themselves hidden. Most humans aren’t as... entertaining as you.”
Scott smiled, not even realizing that maybe that wasn’t a compliment. It felt exhilarating just to have a face-to-face conversation with someone who wasn’t his family or was legally obligated to talk to him.
“You wanna come to the living room?” he asked suddenly. You furrowed your brow. “It’ll be more comfortable than sitting on that ledge.”
“Well, I can’t exactly sit on the couch,” you said slowly, meekly gesturing at yourself with your head.
“You can sit on the table, it’s fine! I’ve got snacks.”
“Snacks...” you repeated. Even though this went against every single borrower code you knew of, it felt stupid to pass up this offer. If the human wasn’t going to hurt you, then why not make him your ally?
“Sure, why not,” you said finally, standing up. Scott couldn’t help but stare at you in awe.
“Here,” he said, standing back up to his full height and sticking his hand out in front of you. “I can carry you there!”
“Oh...” you said, staring at the hand hesitantly. “I can just walk, you know—”
“Psh! That’ll take too long. Trust me.” You didn’t know why he would know anything about that, but frankly, his weird choice of words was the last thing on your mind. Scott took notice. “Oh, you’re... sorry, I didn’t mean to assume. It’s just right across the hall, we don’t have to go far at all. It’ll be fine.”
You gave him a skeptical look, but at this point, you didn’t have much of a choice. This is what you wanted, anyway.
“I guess this is the one drawback,” you muttered, keeping a firm grip on the wall as you lowered yourself onto his palm. “Humans can’t take no for an answer.”
“What was that?”
“Oh, uh, I—I said. Quite the view from up here.”
“Hah, yeah, I know!”
There it is again, you thought. That weird choice of words.
The trip to the living room was, as promised, short. You were only in his hand for about 15 seconds before you hopped off onto the familiar sight of the coffee table. The bowl of peanuts and candy was filled to the brim, as usual, but you supposed you should act like you’ve never been here before.
“So,” Scott said, reaching into the bowl and popping some M&M’s into his mouth before flopping onto the couch. “What’s your name? I bet you already know mine.”
“I’m (Y/n),” you said, eyeing the bowl. “Can I...”
“Oh, go ahead!” Scott smiled. He watched in delight as you grabbed a peanut that was larger than a football. You bit into it like an apple, and Scott could hardly suppress his grin.
“This is amusing for you?” you asked with a smirk. Scott immediately shook his head, but the smile was still present. “Yeah, I guess I probably look hilariously small to you.”
“Well... only a little.” Scott leaned back into the couch cushion. “So you’ve really been inside my walls this whole time and I had no idea?”
“Yup,” you said with a mouthful of peanut. “Been here for a long time.”
“How do you even live? Eat? Bathe?!”
You turned your gaze to the table. “You won’t like the answer.”
Scott thought about it for a moment, but it didn’t take long for him to connect the dots. “Oh. Oh.”
“Yeah,” you blushed. “But it’s either take crumbs off your counter or starve, so. I choose not to starve.”
“Well, you’re welcome to have dinner with me from now on. I cook just for myself anyway, it’ll be nice to have some company.”
“About that... why are you here all the time? You used to only be here at night.”
Scott sighed deeply. “It’s a long story.”
He seemed uncharacteristically upset about that, so you cleared your throat and pivoted back to what he was saying before. “You’d really let me eat with you?”
“Sure, why not?” Scott seemed genuinely surprised that you would even ask.
“I mean, this has gotta seem a little... weird to you, does it not? In fact, I — well, there are a lot of stories about humans discovering borrowers, and they’re not often pleasant. You... you don’t really seem to care.”
Scott pursed his lips. “That’s another long story.”
“Oh.” Jeez, what is up with this guy?
“I mean, if you’ve really been... in my walls all this time...” He shuddered before continuing. “Then you know how lonely it’s been around here. Heck, it probably gets really lonely all by yourself in the walls, too.”
You nodded.
“Well, I’ve got a lot of questions for you, and I know you’ve got a lot for me... I won’t force you to stay if you don’t want to, but I think — it might be nice to get to know each other, right?”
You gave Scott an almost incredulous look. Maybe all those human tales were just old folk stories of days past, meant to scare children into staying close to home. You were hardly nervous that Scott had any malicious intent. You just almost couldn’t believe this was happening.
“What about your daughter? Isn’t she supposed to be coming this weekend? I’d rather her, uh, not see me.”
Scott sat up a bit. “You know about Cassie?”
“Um. Lived here for years, remember?”
“Right, right. Uh, n-no, no, she’s sick, she’s not coming. Huh.” Scott shook his head. “Wow. You must know, like, everything about me, then.”
Your face flushed red. “I mean, yes and no. I don’t just sit and stare at you to pass the time. It’s-it’s actually pretty strange for me too. We’re not supposed to talk to humans. It’s kind of the big number one rule.”
“What normally happens?”
“Well.” You paused, looking up at Scott’s expectant face. It was hard to hold eye contact, and your gaze flickered back to the table. “It’s a long story.”
Scott huffed a laugh. “I get it. Looks like we both have our own baggage.”
There was a beat of silence.
“Look, if you wanna... go back into that hole in the wall, you can. I told you, I won’t make you stay. But the offer is always there. I’m probably just gonna order a pizza tonight. You ever had pizza?”
You pursed your lips. Should you really be telling him all the things you’ve stolen from right under his nose?
Scott sighed. Maybe this wasn’t the weirdest thing for him, but he knew he couldn’t say the same for you. Your sideways glances had grown increasingly nervous ever since he brought you to the living room. You carried yourself well, but it was clear you were uneasy about all of this.
Wordlessly, Scott placed his hand down in front of you. He frowned when you winced at it.
“It’s quicker if I just bring you back,” he said sheepishly.
You picked your half-eaten peanut off the table and cleared your throat. “I-I’m sorry. I think I underestimated how odd this would feel. You... you’re just, really different than the human I lived with growing up. In a good way.”
Scott smiled weakly. “Just wait ‘til you get to know me.”
You laughed as you climbed onto his hand. You sat down for balance as he stood up, unable to take his eyes off you. You stared straight ahead as he took the short journey back, and in a few moments, you were right back where you started.
Staring at each other.
“Well (Y/n), it was nice—”
“You know,” you said, raising your voice to cut him off. “I have had pizza before. But I’ve never tried ice cream.”
Scott gasped. “Never had ice cream?! Lucky for you, I’ve got some chocolate in the freezer— oh. Oh! You... you want to have some dessert later?”
You smiled amusingly. “You catch on quick.”
“Yeah, it’s a specialty of mine,” Scott said, stretching his arms in the air. “Gosh, it’s already 7:30. How about ice cream at 9?”
“I, uh, don’t have a clock with me,” you admitted. “Why don’t you just... knock when you’re ready?”
Scott chuckled. “Knocking on the walls to my own house? People’ll start to think I’m crazy.”
You blinked at Scott, Scott blinked at you, and you both burst out laughing. For a moment, you forgot that Scott was a hundred feet tall and he forgot you could fit in his palm. It shouldn’t have been that funny, but it was. It all was.
Scott wiped a tear from his eye and sighed. “Oh, man. Okay. I should order before they close. See you soon?”
You smiled. In between the bad jokes, the awkward silences and the fits of laugher, you decided all this weirdness was worth it.
“Yeah. See you soon, Scott.”

Scott Lang x stepkid!reader
warnings: insects (ants), sharp weapons
a/n:
prompt: anonymous: “Happy holidays darling! Would you write HC for Hope Van Dyne's child? Love the step-parents HC 🥰”
Tumblr media
growing up as a lil smarty pants
grandpa hank was pretty proud, although he didn’t see you very much
once every few years
but he did tell you all these crazy stories about his adventures that you honestly thought were just fiction (until you were older)
“and i was as small as an ant, but i was still incredibly strong! remember that, kid. just because you aren’t as big as someone else doesn’t mean you can’t beat them” -hank
“y/n doesn’t need to be hearing those stories, hank” -hope
“why not? they have important life lessons in them!” -hank
“why does mommy call you ‘hank?’” -you
“because mommy hates grandpa, isn’t that right?” -hank
“okay, i think that’s enough of this visit. come on, y/n, time to go” -hope
your mom was very supportive of you, nonetheless
she wanted to be different from her dad
so she showed up to EVERYTHING
birthdays, sick days, tucking you in for bed, parent-teacher conferences, art shows, you name it
“here’s some tea, jellybelly. it’ll make your throat feel better” -hope
“mom, i think i’m dying” -you
“you’ll be fine” -hope, givin’ u a kiss on the forehead
life wasn’t like, extra crazy or anything. sometimes she’d bring you to work and honestly? darren cross didn’t seem like the worst guy. he even brought you whatever you might need if your mom was staying late at work
“hey, van dyne junior! i brought you a puzzle that might keep you busy for a while...and a happy meal from mcdonalds! let me know if you need anything else, me and your mom will just be in the lab for a little while” -darren
“thank you!!!” -you
uh huh, ur mom taught u manners!
anyways you started spending more time with your grandpa cuz they had a plan
thats when you found out that his “turning small” stories were not, in fact, bullshit
“wait grandpa...you actually did shrink as small as an ant?” -you
“why would i lie?” -hank
okay well cue you wanting to shrink down to ant size now it was your new aspiration
you did learn how to command ants tho!!!!!!
but unfortunately (or not so unfortunately) hank brought scott to the party
“hi!” -you, waking scott up
“what?!” -scott, jumping back against the headboard
“hi.” -you, staring at him “im y/n. these are my ants”
bullet ants were just crawlin around the place
“oh, that’s....that’s cool. any chance you could tell me where i am or how i got here” -scott
“wouldn’t you like to know, weather boy” -you, leaving abruptly
“are you bothering our guest?” -hope, watching you proudly nod “good job, jellybelly”
mom taught u how to punch 🥰🥰🥰
and let you use scott as a punching bag
but scott wasn’t like awful or anything he was just insufferable at times
“i think you’d like my daughter cassie. she’s weird and smart just like you” -scott
“did you just call me weird? mom, can i punch him again?” -you
“no no no! i meant weird in a good way! please dont hurt me anymore!” -scott
chasing him around the yard ready to ATTACK
hank had to tell u to cut it out
“dont tell them what to do” -hope
“someone has to” -hank
“excuse me? i parent y/n just fine, better than you ever did for me!” -hope
“do they do this often?” -scott
“every time they see each other but that’s not very much” -you
“hm...hey, do you like ice cream? specifically baskin robbins?” -scott
ur mom said “we do not associate with idiots ❤️” and then proceeded to associate with said idiots
scott did end up saving u from darren tho bc that mf tried to hold u hostage and scott was really not in the mood for that bullshit
“you alright, y/n?” -scott
“murder is okay, right?” -you
after that whole ordeal he and your mom were kinda a thing uh huh
and he introduced you to cassie!!! she was amazingly sweet and you could def see the family resemblance
“is this my new sibling?! i’ve always wanted one!” -cassie
“hey, me too!” -you
you hung out with her on a weekly basis, with or without scott
and mom and grandpa were working on a ✨special project✨
one you insisted on being apart of
“no, y/n, we can’t make you your own suit. you’re too young for this sort of thing” -hope
“pleaaaaase mom? i swear i’ll he responsible with it!” -you
“you’re mother is right, y/n. you’re just not ready yet. maybe someday, but not anytime soon” -hank
scott took you on family bowling trips yes he did
and just corny stepdad shit
but he went to germany and mom and him broke up and FF to two years later when you guys had finally reunited
“scott!! you asshole!!” -you, like this -> :)
“kiddo!! sorry to hear that!!” -scott, same energy
shading him the whole time
“ach mein gott” -you
“are you kidding me, y/n? i make one mistake. ONE” -scott
“you’re one mistake has caused me to live in MINIATURE HOMES” -you
“THAT SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD THING” -scott
“WELL IT’S NOT” -you
“did you at least miss me?” -scott
“sicher habe ich” -you
“god dammit” -scott
surprise!! u kind of had a suit (for emergencies)
as a van dyne/pym, it was almost a necessity to know how to use pym particles
scott acted like a proud dad
“wow, you’re really doing it!!!” -scott
“halt die klappe” -you
“please stop” -scott, tearing up
finding out about ✨grandma✨
she possessed scott and touched ur face and told you that she was so excited to meet you but you didn’t know wtf was going on and you had the urge to smack scott but THANKFULLY you did not
“i have to meet her for real! let me help you guys!” -you
“okay” -hope
“what? really?” -you
“it’s about time we put your genius to good use” -hope
scott offered you a high five for that and u literally accepted it
“don’t get too happy, that was just an in-the-moment thing” -you, watching scott’s eyebrow raise “fine. you can have a hug”
okay okay well everything went okay and then half the world ~vanished~ including ur whole family but like cassie and her family took you in and you spent five years very alone and upset until one day cassie called you downstairs and whoopdedoo???? scott???????
“is my mom with you?” -you
“sorry, sport, she’s not...do you have your suit with you? we need to go on some...hero business” -scott
you missed scott a lot over the past 5 years, this really did cheer you up, even if it was just him
“how’ve you been holding up the past few years” -scott
“the world sucks, man” -you
“i can see that” -scott
he turned on some tunes for the two of you to enjoy otw to the avengers hq and it was probably the best memory you created since everyone disappeared
“wait, reach into the glove box” -scott
“oh, god, i hope there’s no rodents in here...” -you, reaching for a picture “is this..?”
“family photo!! you were little back then, i can’t believe how time flies. i mean, it flew really quick for me, the quantum realm is no joke” -scott
you were busy staring at the picture of your mom, you really missed her
busy ~saving the world~
and going to 2012 with scott
“hey uh just so you know, i might be able to make pym particles” -you
“‘might?’ and if we use faulty pym particles we ‘might’ die. would you like that?” -tony
“hey, back off, stark. they’re just trying to help” -scott
next thing u know ur in present day and THEN u actually got to hold the scepter bc scott let u
“im gonna stab you!!” -you
“no!!!” -scott
the other avengers, literally mourning natasha while you chase him around with a sharp weapon: 😧
okay after the place was destroyed u got to face mr. purple man and yo mama showed back up and saw you on the front lines
“y/n????” -hope
“mom????” -you
“scott!!!!” -scott
“really, scott? a shrek reference? now?” -you “...nice”
the reunion with your mom was short and sweet but you missed her forehead kisses and she gave you one immediately!!!! and she was crying but you were too bc damn
“listen, after this, we’re gonna have such a fun family night. i’m so sorry i couldn’t be there for you all this time” -hope
“mom, it wasn’t your fault...it was that purple bastard, let’s get him!” -you
“they grow up so fast...” -hope
i n s e c t f a m
insect fam killed it out there and then ✨attended tony’s funeral✨ together right after
that’s one solid family 😌💖
anyways time to celebrate a (halfway) return to normalcy
with your *sister* cassie and your mom and your...scott
you were just happy to all be together again, it’s been WAY too long
