Lay All Your Love On Me (LAYLOM)

The first time Lily kisses James, he doesn't even know.

While it's not my best writing and most of it is wildly unedited, it's a very important fic for me because just publishing whatever I've had really helped me slog through some terrible writing and zero-inspiration moments. It's also the first multi-chap that I've written while publishing. I know where it's going, but the journey is on a whim!

Dancing With Our Hands Tied (DWOHT)

But despite his best efforts, he couldn’t take his eyes off her figure as she moved effortlessly in rhythm with whatever song she had playing. He learned she was wearing more than a t-shirt when she slid across the kitchen on her socks, throwing her head back to sing words James wished he could hear.

My BABY! Yeah, I loved every moment of this fic! I love this Lily and James so much that there are two sequels in the works xx

The Art of Identification

Lily, star potions pupil, can't identify Amortentia when it's staring her right in the face (or nose)

This one is a rarity; I don't usually do Hogwarts AND no smut LOL! Wrote it for @annabtg on (read: wayyyy after) her birthday and LOVED writing a twist to the normal amortentia realisation : )

One of my very first fics that's been getting a bit of love lately! I think if I wrote it now, it would be a heck of a lot longer and more angsty, but I love it for what it is!

Two strangers, one umbrella, and a little bit of fate.

One of my favourite strangers - lovers creations of mine. I love this trope and I had A LOT of fun writing this! I still giggle when I read it.

I wouldn't be a very good smut fairy if I didn't break the rules and drop this bonus pure smut fic at the bottom because that was FUN, but probs not what people are wanting rec'd lol.

Hey, I got this a month ago!

I love being asked things, but you've also hit on my least favorite thing to do! I'm sure I've mentioned on here that I'm my own worst critic, and my face squinches up like I just ate a lemon whenever I have to measure any sort of personal worth. That being said, I know I must have some things I've created that I enjoy!

Five favorite fics in no particular order:

One Need Not Be a Chamber (The Flash 2014) - Angsty, but I really love exploring the leftover elements of Crisis and how it might have played out with a slightly different path. Leonard tends to bring out the more melancholy side of me, and I like to explore the possibilities the show itself wanted to gloss over.

Every Day is a Dying Day (The Flash 2014) - NGL, part of the reason I think of this story affectionately is because @mintdivision sang the title to the tune of Every Day is a Winding Road and it made me laugh every time. I don't know why I like this one--maybe it's Leonard getting ready to say his goodbyes, or maybe it was the opportunity to write a romantic date. IDK

Here Mid the Ash Trees (Violent Messiahs 2002) - I wrote this thirteen years ago (what???) and I still think this story has me at my most distilled elements. It was a difficult piece to write, a difficult piece to read, with characters that weren't very likeable, even in the original canon. I think I'm still the only one who's written fic for this fandom, and I have an absurd joy in that.

The Break-Up of the Ice (The Flash 2014) - I still believe this will be forever the best story I've written/will write for Coldflash. It came to me in the final confrontation between Barry and Leonard in chapter 11, and I was haunted. I'd told my friends that I wasn't going to write anything for The Flash, that I wanted to work on my original stories, and this sucker grabbed me by the throat and told me to suffer.

Resonance (The Flash 2014) - Oh, this story. I didn't mean to let it sit for so long. I haven't updated it since 2019?? I have 4,300 words on the next chapter, and I absolutely know how it all ends. Why do I have such a block on this story? I really don't know. I think I'm overwhelmed by how large my plan for it is? (The outline in my head ends in season 2, and considering I haven't even reached Barry in high school...? UGH.) All the same, I am fond of it, although I'm anxious to see how my writing is different now versus four years ago.

To Tell the Truth Ongoing Brokeback Mountain longfic, rated M, currently 29 chapters and just under 50k wordcount. Canon divergent starting from when Ennis comes home to Alma after the summer he meets Jack. Very much a what could have been kind of fic with lots of making people (coughEnniscoughcough) talk about their feelings but without easy fixes to the very real obstacles our boys face.

Momento Ipsum, Remember Yourself Complete Old Guard fic, rated M, 6 chapters, just under 20k words. It's a meeting-younger-selves fic with the whole team! Explorations of religion, trauma, and sense of self that I'm really proud of. Communication and how language is woven through identity are central themes, and I taught myself some coding to make two versions of this fic that use either different fonts or different text colors to differentiate dialogue in different languages.

The Measure of a Tit Sailor Moon oneshot, rated T, 824 words. Short, fun, and funny little ficlet about bras, binders, and gender expression starring my favorite senshi, Sailor Uranus, Haruka Tenoh .

Chiaroscuro Complete Star Trek: TOS fic, rated T, 16 chapters, a little over 30k wordcount. Set aboard the Enterprise late in her 5-year mission (so, sometime after the tv show ended). I made up an excuse to stick Kirk and Spock, Spock's parents, and two space hobos one of whom is half Vulcan and actively rejects Vulcan culture all on a starship together. Shenanigans, arguments over cultural values, discussion of consent with regards to Pon Farr, Kirk and Spock finally doing something about their mutual pining, and Uhura winning a full-crew betting pool ensues.

In From the Cold Incomplete post-Winter Soldier MCU fic, rated T (though I should probably bump it to M...), currently 55 chapters and almost 175k--not counting the two pulled-out sort of episode fics that happen between or parallel to chapters in the main fic that add almost another 20k. This becomes a good old "everyone is living at Stark Tower" fic a few chapters in. Very focused on Steve and Bucky and Bucky's recovery from having been the Winter Soldier. I put him in actual goddamn therapy--and this fic long predates the Falcon and Winter Soldier show. Also a major Clint/Coulson plot thread that digs deep into Phil's trauma from having been killed by Loki and brought back. Pulls in elements from Agents of SHIELD and some of my favorite bits from comics. And look, this fic has not been updated in years, so if I'm reccing it I want to be up front about that. But it is not abandoned! In fact, with how life changes are going I expect to be able to get back to work on this fic within the next year and could have new chapters ready as early as Christmas if all goes well. It's long enough that depending how fast you read, it could carry you til then. This is genuinely some of the work I'm most proud of and has one of the most complexly woven plots I've ever produced (which is why it's been so hard for my to pick back up these past few years). If you miss the team-as-family vibes of early-mid 2010s MCU fandom and wish various characters' trauma was handled with more care, then this is the fic for you.

Chasing Shadows - Thief x fem!Reader (Iridescence-verse) I love this particular one because not only do I have a LOT of fun plans for this particular story but it features characters made by some of my discord besties and fellow writers for the PPCU.

Never Really Over - Frankie Morales x fem!Reader x Dieter Bravo - This was a whirlwind of a story that basically crept up on me and I couldn't sleep until I wrote it. These three kind of have a special place to me because I have so much more I can write for them, I can make them better (or worse) and I just need the right inspo.

Locked & Loaded - Dave York x fem!Reader (Iridescence-verse) - So I very much love and appreciate a bossy, demanding, Dave York who tells his lady what she needs and gives it to her. But I decided to throw that out the window and give him a woman who tells him what he needs (with his consent of course).

Blood Price - Max Phillips x fem!Reader (Iridescence-verse) - I know this one is kind of a shocker for me too but I REALLY have fallen in love with my plans for this dumb arrogant man and his light elf.

Wobbly uncertain bubbles that even break apart in some parts from dizziness (The Blind Prince by cozycroww)

Pain almost appears to be breaking the usually round bubble into uneven and broken balloons. The little smaller balloons around it are reminiscent of sweat or tears (Heir’s Game by suspu)

Beginner's Guide to Your Fanfic Tag Game

Thank you @nerdieforpedro for the tag! I love self fic recs because I love seeing writers love on their skill! Im gonna do 5 as well. But you can choose how many you wanna do. And gonna challenge myself not to recc the same fics in the past 🤣

1. Through the Fire - Franklin Saint. It still has one of the best comments Ive ever gotten on my fics. I pulled from the show and it gave it more depth than I realized. I adore it 🥹

2. The God Who Stole Me - Loki. I feel I write Loki pretty well. And while I have a series with him, my one shots are so cute 🥹 this does have a degradation kink, but like all of my stories, it's always love at the core of it.

3. Break Me - Tyrone. I tried a new dynamic and I really love how it came out. It's the right amount of toxic and sweet and Tyrone being the one sprung or harboring feelings is something I deff thought was cute.

4. Have Mercy - Tyrone. This one was just pure nasty 🤣🤣🤣🤣 and purely for my own enjoyment. And if you're going to start anywhere with my writing, may as well start with one of the nastiest ones. To get my back blown out just like that? Whew 🥲 Yall would never see me again, Id never let that mf breathe without me 🤣🤣🤣

5. A Little Mad Sometimes - I had been feening for Ghostface smut and this was my first time writing a three-way. Yall dont understand the chokehold Scream has on me 🥲 or Matthew Lillard. I finally watched Five Nights at Freddys and may have to do a fic for him 😮‍💨

The Ripper's Prey [ Erwin/Kenny | 13k words ] Whump, DDDNE. Graphic encounter between Erwin and Kenny in canon-verse. Horrible, evil, really dark. But a testament to my love for dark content and a piece I put a surprising amount of thought into.

Exsanguination [ Erwin/Levi | 3.5k words ] In which an obsessively devoted Levi is manipulated by a cruel, heartless Erwin. Another dark piece, but my personal favorite of what I wrote for Dark Eruri Week 2023.

No Surrender [ Erwin, Levi, Miche, Reader | 16.6k words ] The three hunters, your partners, chase down the lone prey, you. If I had to pick just one entry from RDOTES, I'd probably suggest this one. The first installment ever published, and still the best at demonstrating the relationship dynamic and personalities of the four main characters.

Here's a list of five of my (current, momentary) most highly-favored children, in no particular order:

entering light (Horizon, T) - an exploration of Aloy adjusting to new motherhood, and all of the fear and joy that comes with it. This one was in the works for a long time--like, years--and after everything I'm pretty pleased with how it came out.

show me the world as it could be (Horizon, Aloy/Talanah, E) - close-POV, pre-Nemesis smut with feelings. Another one that sat in my WIPs for quite a while, waiting for the right time to flourish. Pretty proud of this one mostly for my own perseverance.

rest like you belong here. (Horizon, Aloy/Talanah, T) - a missing scene from HZD in which hurt/comfort and gay subtext abound. This was my first Hawk and Thrush fic ever, and it still holds a super special place in my heart. It's fun to see how far I've come since then--and it was really rewarding to dive into Aloy's head right as she's on the precipice of allowing her own vulnerabilities to be seen and addressed.

dream geometries (Control, Jesse/Emily, T) - my first fic for these two, and hopefully not the last! A quick and intimidating dip into the liminality and weirdness that makes this franchise so cool. I was pretty pleased with how this brief piece turned out!

gray areas and expectations (Horizon, Aloy/Talanah, M) - an exploration of intimate vulnerability and Aloy's character via endearingly awkward sexual content. Started as a joke post on discord, sparked itself into a concept I come back to time and time again.

It’s quiet.

My conclusions: ...honestly, I'm not sure there is any clear pattern? Some use dialogue, some immediately set a scene or context, some are incredibly vague without revealing much, POV is very clear in about half of them, entirely unknown in the rest. I will say that several of them require the second sentence to contextualise them before they hit properly as a line, so that's perhaps the clearest pattern here — you can't stop after just the first sentence.

AFFECTION GAME NOW ON ROLL 20!!

Today Affection Game has been published on the @roll20 virtual tabletop games app, and I’m having a ton of emotions (all good ones)!

As a lot of you know: in my spare time, I develop games to assist with communication in relationships.

Affection Game guides you through the mechanics of intentional conversations. The rules require you to thoughtfully invite people to play, choose cards for each session based on your levels of comfort, and practice your listening skills so your companion feels truly heard.

I completed my final update to the card prompts, all of which are based on what I’ve learned through relationships both past and present. I am willing to combat my anxiety with the affection and respect I have for those I love.

You now have 2 ways to play:

In-person, using the physical card game

Something you absolutely adore

Gotta go with this one, it was the first piece(s) that came to mind. It’s finished, I’m incredibly fond of how they two turned out, and I had a lot of fun working on the different versions.

Something that was challenging to create

Trying to make a cohesive set of cards was trickier than i thought it was going to be! Getting them to have their own feel and personality while balancing how much overlapped was difficult. I think I id aight in the end, and they all look pretty good, even though they’re a few years old at this point haha.

Something that makes you laugh (or smile, if that fits more comfortably)

MABARI!!! They don’t get enough love in this fandom IMHO so getting into designing some this year has really been fun and i plan on drawing more of ‘em.

Something that surprised you (in how it turned out, how much other people liked it, etc.)
