"Tell me, did you ever like the tea i made?" Lilac and honey and warm milk. You say my breath is like smoke, curling out of my mouth. I imagine myself a teapot full of warmth.

"Drink lemon, no sugar. It'll heal your stomach ache quick." I'm bleeding from the inside out, you can see my belly, blooming lilac. You can see it from the balcony at night.

"Why are you awake?" It's 4 A.M. and i can't sleep so i sit, shivering on the couch with a library book. Poems about anxiety. The cover is sticky and i'm anxious touching it. You get up from your bed to make me tea.

If we're being honest i only liked tea when you made it. It's never the same if the leaves aren't floating in it. Always enough milk. Always enough.
