Like one day she decides to show up to class earlier than usual, bc she usually gets there like 5min before class starts and gets stuck with weird seats or super packed aisles that had the only seat open and it really sucks
So out of spite she just starts showing up unreasonably early (1hr before class) to make sure she gets a good seat and low and behold there is no class in that room before her english class (bc I firmly believe she would do an english minor and like maybe kinesiology? I have not put too too much thought to her major but i would love to hear opinions!), so she gets her pick of the entire room!
She nestles into the third row bc it’s the perfect spot! Not too far back to be easily distracted but not immediately in front of the professor. I think she’d pick an end seat, but the ones next to the wall and not the aisle bc she knows she’s a bigger girl and she doesn’t want to make people like crawl over her to get a seat and she’s always super aware of how much space she takes up anyways
There she is! In her lil seat! An hour before class just hanging out! She’s checking her laptop and her phone and getting her note-taking situation set up and god she is so regretting not bringing like a book or something bc this is a lot of free time and it would be perfect for reading and then!!
Like fifteen minutes later you show up and she doesn’t really notice until you sit in the same row as her, a few seats down
She looks over and she is f l o o r e d bc who is this cutie??? Have you always been in her class??? How did she not know??? She thinks ur so cute in ur lil outfit, how much shorter you look compared to her, even in the seat, ur headphones in and ur music barely audible and she’s just staring at this point and oh god oh no you notice and now she wants to crawl into a hole and decay

Very good very gay and oh my god you hope the mystery girl sees the girls on the cover and gets the hint and you hope that she also likes girls bc wowowowow!!! She’s even prettier the closer you are to her!! And she looks so strong!!! Her arms so big and now ur head is spinning bc she could probably pick you up and mandhandle you and do whatever she wanted and now ur completely off track bc she is just so pretty

n this makes you sad bc duh, she’s so cute u thought she was gonna say something but no :( so you just start reading ur book and u get so into it that u don’t notice that abby keeps looking over at u! And she thinks ur so cute! Bc ur so focused and there’s this lil crease between ur brows from how hard ur focusing on this book and oops now she’s trying to look at the cover without u noticing and oops now she’s typing it into her browser and would u look at that! It’s in stock at her favorite bookstore! so now she knows what she’s doing after class instead of homework!
so u two sit and u read and she watches and floats aimlessly on the internet and then class proceeds as usual and abby feels so much better in this seat! She can actually hear and see without being stuck with ppl who talk during class or are super distracting on their laptops bc ur the closest to her and ur a diligent little notetaker! truly the best idea she’s ever had good job abby :)
Immediately after class she hauls ass to the bookstore and picks up the book u were reading (and maybe two more ok she has little self control in here it’s fine her dad is a neurosurgeon) and she starts reading it that day and omg!! She loves it!!! She reads like half of it in one day and forgets to do her homework and oh shit okay she has to bust out two discussion posts before midnight and now she’s panicking but it’s fine she’s got this!
the next time she has that class, she brings the book with her to read beforehand and u show up! But with a different book :( she’s so sad she wanted to talk to u about this one but u probably already finished it! So, of course, she pulls out her phone and writes down the book ur reading now, In A Lonely Place by Dorothy B. Hughes
she is both kinda shocked that it’s so different, some old crime novel but it sounds interesting so after class she runs back to the bookstore to get it and it’s there!! She didn’t even bother to check if it was in stock but it was! obvs the universe wants yall to have this connection so ofc she buys it and starts reading it the next week bc school caught up to her and it took a second to finish the first book :(
so she’s so excited when she shows up to class that week with the book, which she hasn’t started yet! And then u show up! And omg she might cry bc u have another book again :( ur just so fast she cannot keep up but she is gonna keep trying!
another two weeks pass with another two books and by now ur starting to notice that she always seems to be reading the last book u read and u don’t know if it’s intentional but if it is that is so sexy of her and u will hold her hand about it
so u decide to test it! u slow down on ur reading speed for the next book and u intentionally pick a less popular one (???) bc at that point what are the odds it isn’t intentional? So u show up with When the Moon Was Ours by Anna-Marie McLemore for the next three classes and sure enough! By the second class she has it and she’s reading it and so are u and ur both so excited about it!!
Abby is like ninety percent sure she’s been found out but her suspicions are confirmed when u turn to talk to her, voice low even though ur like the only people in the classroom bc class doesn’t start for another forty minutes, and u ask her how she likes it, especially compared to the rest of the books and she just turns Bright Red
She’s so cute and blushy and tripping over her sentences when she tells u she really likes it even though she just started it and by god she thinks she’s gonna melt into a puddle of pure sapphic when u giggle and smile at her and tell her ur glad!! Bc it’s one of ur favorite books!!
n y’all start talking about the books you’ve been reading and ur both so into it that u completely give up on reading before class today! Not when this absolute sweetheart of a girl is reading the book u read!! For u!! Bc abby straight up tells u she wanted to talk to u but didn’t know how so she just started reading all the books u read bc that makes sense?? I mean it worked so yeah!! Makes sense!!

Anyways eventually class starts :( which sucks so bad but ur right next to her and she maybe finds it a lil bit harder to focus but it’s fine!! She gets through it and at the end of class, she builds up the courage (tbh she wasn’t really listening to the last ten minutes bc she was so Anxious) to ask u for ur number!!! Which u give her ofc, and right before u leave u nearly make her heart pop out of her chest
As u pull on ur bag, u turn to her and say that you’ll text her to set up ur lil bookclub :( maybe you can go get coffee to talk about it :) and by god that is close enough to a date for abby that she just nods dumbly and smiles and watches as you leave, a lil smile on ur face that makes her want to pull u back and kiss u silly!!
She knows then and there that she has to make u her gf or she’ll literally wither away (ofc she succeeds!! She’s abby!!!)

i lied it’s really long and REALLY gay.
A year ago, around this time, my life was kind of in shambles and I wasn’t okay. I was hanging onto the wrong people — Person. A mistake.
A year ago, my mother tried to kill my father.
A year ago, that person tore apart my progress, my writing, my art and my mental health. They tore me apart, and i didn’t realize it. or maybe i did, but feeling loved is uh. Rare for me.
A bad time really, all around.
But almost a year ago, got a month to go, I met an amazing person. I met my friend Lucas. Now you may be asking, why’s this important?
Other than he’s really important to me, it’s probably one of the most important moments of my life.
A list of Reasons Why I love Lucas & Why he’s so Important to me:
1. i think like him being in my life is not just extremely important because i love him?? but because like the friendship we’ve had has helped me really sort of feel loved by everyone who does love me. I know it probably sounds weird, and maybe it’s cruel. But i relied really heavily on someone praising me and having some love for me more than what my friends could offer. Because that was, and sometimes still is, the ideology drilled in my head. But being friends with him has slowly really helped me moved passed that. Like bein friends with him was literally like, here’s this light in your life. But here’s the other’s who have been there the whole time. and that’s EXTREMELY important to realize when you’re dealing with traumas and depression.
I know i still struggle with a LOT but i am aware that i’m not completely alone because this one fckn person scrambled over all the stupid walls and p much metaphorically gave me a hug and told me i mattered to him.
It was like. he hugged me and i Felt it. For once.
Which sounds so cold to me every time i think about it. How little i’ve really felt the love of my friends and people who care about me. Legitimately it’s the worst. But it’s not that way now. It’s not that way now. and I refuse to go back to that.
2. It’s this same feeling of feeling that importance to everyone, but on a smaller scale. Because I tend to ramble a lot I tend to over express myself and it takes a lot for me to not fckn feel like shit afterwards. And this is something i’ll struggle with for awhile. But like, Lucas also rambles to me and talks to me and vents and it’s. Good. It feels so balanced and easy most of the time. Granted, we’ll still apologize to each other but it’s more instinct for me than actually really feeling it (most of the time.)
It’s the small, ‘it’s okay! i don’t mind’ & ‘no it’s okay! i appreciate it.’ and continuing the ramblings that really helps. and god im crying about it right now christ. but it’s that important to me honestly. it means so much to hear that it’s okay. that’ i’m okay more importantly. It’s like shushing that part of my brain that goes into a full blown panic for rambling that makes him so ?? so good for me.
3. For almost a Year we’ve talked nearly every day. I mean like literally we have talked every day. Even if it was a brief ‘hey i love you’ because of whatever reason. But we’ve literally talked so much. It’s so consistent and comfortable. And I’m honestly really excited to talk with him verbally?? Because god it’ll be so good for me. because like
a.) socializing verbally is not a good skill of mine
b.) i wanna talk to him like all the time
c.) i can get use to talking with him verbally and feel at ease which helps with see a.
But like honestly that’s been the best part, ya know? Feeling like this is just part of my day to day. That it’s something good and like, we don’t have to talk all the time?? and that’s so good lmao. It’s so good. Good on my soul and my fucking psyche. God i love it.
Like I love talking to him??? I love talking about oc’s and ships and random shit!! i love talking about gender stuff and life stuff!! i love when he talks about rocks and minerals and space!! i love when he rambles to me about things he loves!! and i know this ties into 2. but its so important to point this part out on its own okay. I love!!! i LOVEEEEE when he talks to me about everything!!! i love feeling that he trusts me to vent to me and i love feeling that he wants me to know things about his life!! i love when we talk about what we’re going to do when we hang out because, pOINTS AT 1!!! It feels so good!!! it feels so good to feel included in his life and it feels so good to know and talk about how he wants MEEEE in his LIFEEEE!!!! that’s so amazing y’all it’s so good it feels so good helps when i get fucked up!
4. i’m a big gay?

this is all really gay.
But i mean honestly it’s so good to feel okay to feel this gay?? Like all of these tie into each other, honestly. But I love feeling gay, and okay for it. I know what does this have to deal with my boy? Well you see... My love and care for him... It’s gay. Gay as heck.
I wanna pick him up like a suitcase.
I wanna carry him when he’s tired.
I wanna help him learn handy dandy skills.
I wanna be there for him as long as i can, and as long as he wants me here.
i wanna carry him down the street in fuck boy outfits together so he can be like ‘MOVE, WE’RE GAY’
I wanna look at the stars, and then at him while he rambles about them, and be like ‘wow you’re gay for space’ so he can, in turn, be like ‘oh no you found me out....’ and i can smooch his fucking forehead and call him a big nerd
i wanna be able to wake up to him curled up on me because i am a fckn personal heater
I want all of this because I love him, and i think he deserves so much and i want to help get him all of it. I want to help him reach these goals and dreams because I love him so much and he’s my best fucking friend.
So it’s SUPER gay.
5. Every time i think about how much i want to be there for him gives me another quarter in the game of life y’all. It puts fucking money in the slot to keep me going. It is a goddamn lifeline that has helped me grab onto a life i want to live.
Like.
If i didn’t have him? I wouldn’t fucking see shit the same. I wouldn’t feel loved by my friends. I wouldn’t have this progress in getting better. I wouldn’t be looking at places in denver for myself, and wanting to plan out a life i wanna live. I wouldn’t be trying with nearly the same amount of want or need to live. I’d be existing, and drifting. It wouldn’t be the same
and you might be like, aeron that’s absurd. that’s a lil much.
But no. it’s really not it’s REALLY not. I cannot imagine myself without this friendship because it has helped me so much. Do you know what it’s like to look forward to talking to someone as soon as you wake up? Like literally, I don’t know if he sees me post something or what. but every day he sends me a message almost exactly when i get up. and it feels good having this.
if i didn’t have him there to help me out when others, by no fault of their own, couldn’t? i literally don’t think I’d be here as well as i am. Maybe i’m exaggerating because i don’t know. Maybe I’m letting my emotions have this too much but i don’t care!!! I don’t!! I don’t know what my life would be like without him, but i can tell you this right now: I would not be me and I would not have felt the same. I would not be feeling things as well. & I really don’t want to know at all what it’d be like without him in my life.
people forget how important that little push is. It literally takes one person to kick start a bit of your brain. One person to pull out a twist in the cables. One person to help you to your feet and give you understanding of things. To help you know that this is what something’s like.

AUGH this issue was a rollercoaster, phew...and the emotionally devastating conclusion to this arc is still yet to come!
I will say that it’s super interesting looking back on this, in the sense that rewind & chromedome are introduced as the first ever gay tf couple, and a few issues after we get told this explicitly, rewind is killed. this doesn't really end up being an issue representation-wise bc literally everyone is gay and there are a bunch of other significant gay characters/relationships later on, AND rewind comes back later
but still! it’s interesting to think about how, at the time this came out, the phrase/concept ‘bury your gays’ wasn't really something that was talked about a lot (or like, it was, but not as often as nowadays, and not really under the term ‘bury your gays’ iirc), but at the time of publication this would have fallen under that trope (though rewind coming back later negates it imo). I think it would've been tough for this story to come out nowadays due to the backlash that would've occurred from rewind’s initial death (it also makes me wonder if there was any backlash when this DID come out)
to be clear, this isn't a writing criticism - in fact, the reason this is able to work at all is because of the crazy amount of representation mtmte has. it’s like, youre able to kill off gay characters without it being ‘bury your gays’ if literally all your characters are gay by default, and there are a bunch of significant gay relationships happening - technically speaking, any death in mtmte is bury your gays lmao
this is a completely disjointed rant but my point is like, if this issue came out in 2020 people would probably be pretty put off by rewind dying (understandably), but in the context of the series as a whole I don't consider this to be bad writing/bad representation/bury your gays
and like, WERE people really mad about this in 2013? I am curious now, bc I would definitely feel kinda betrayed if I didn't know all the stuff that happens later
but its pretty nice, because now I'm free to enjoy the writing and be emotionally devastated by rewinds death in a normal way, and not a ‘I'm angry at the writers for killing off one of the only gay characters’ kinda way
anyways I'm tired as hell so I'm going to bed, ill continue the emotional devastation later, phew

i read ur tag about how people don't read ur evak headcanons but im new here and would love the shit out of them
sorry this took ages because it’s a lot to collect from a lot of places, but like. it’s not that they don’t read them. it’s that when i tell them they tell me to stop (probably bc it’s emotionalé :P)
but i usually send headcanons to sunny, anki and faiza!!! (and a couple of others on twitter but that was between seasons mostly lol)
read under break!!
1. pianist!isak
when isak was younger, he played the piano. he took classes, he understood the instrument, he felt the music flowing through his fingers and into the air, an echo from his very soul. he could switch it up and he could make a happy song sad.
then, people started to comment on how gay it all was. he started to panic and put the piano lid down, never to touch it again.
his father moved out, brought the piano with him, and isak never really cared. he could skateboard instead, hang out with jonas and play video games instead. jonas tried to ask once, “what’s up with you never playing the piano anymore?” but isak shuts him down easily with “it’s boring and i hate it”. they never touch on the subject again.
years later, when even and isak are out travelling, isak finds a public piano. he gravitates too it and even says something about “no, let it be, it’s not a toy, love,” but isak doesn’t care-- doesn’t listen. he hasn’t touched a piano since-- well-- since he stopped playing. he has, however, missed the piano so much. he missed the control he had. god knows he can’t sing to save his own life, but the piano? that’s something he can do.
he goes there, and does the thing, leaving even and the crowd speechless. who could’ve guessed, that the young man in trainers and snapback could do that?
even shines with pride, he hugs isak tightly when he’s finished and kisses him, and tells everyone to “look at my boyfriend!!! isn’t he fantastic? amazing? absolutely perfect?”
2. even + the balloon squad, growing up
okay so, this one was with faiza. remember the handshake in the hei briskeby video?
even was there when it became a thing. he was there for a long time. they knew each other for a long time, in fact.
so i couldn’t stop thinking about all !! the !! events !! they have shared, all the things they remember doing together, all the things they grew up doing together. such as:
at the bakkoush' it was not uncommon for many years to see the boys pretend wrestling and hugging and racing the house. when the boys were really small they used to run outside on various branches pretending to play quidditch and even could recite his favourite parts by heart and mikael too
about painting nails
imagine even and mikael and yousef painting their nails together for the first time and they spill probably on sana's favourite shirt and they're super sorry and sana is like UGH YOU CAN'T EVEN PAINT YOUR NAILS PROPERLY ALRIGHT LET ME DO IT SO YOU DON'T SPILL IT ALL OVER THE PLACE and they're like YES PLEASE SANA HELP US

about biking
imagine them biking and racing each other and then like. elias falls and scrapes his knees and it Really Hurts and the boys are like oh No and try to help him and they get Elias back home and nobody's home and Yousef is like. "Well, first we need to clean it" and Elias tries to Be Cool but his eyes sting when they help cleaning the cuts and Sana comes home and Elias is crying in the bathroom with all the boys, Muta probably tries to calm the situation but Sana is like WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY BROTHER and they're like "no no he fell when we were biking" and Sana puffs out some air and takes the charge and she calls their dad to get help over the phone and then they help Elias to his bed to lie down and they're all So Concerned but by the next week they're at it again, biking down the streets because it's what they do
If they were really young when they met imagine them learning how to bike 😭😭😭
about harry potter nerding
(imagine that, a preteen even is sitting on his bed, his legs crossed and he tries to do magic like they do in harry potter, and he tries to magically make sure his friends are okay before he goes to bed every night, and later, when he doesn't understand why he's starting to loose interest in things and feel endlessly sad all the time, he puts a hand to his heart and whispers lumos, because once, when he was crying because someone had been mean to him, mikael tried to cheer him up by putting his hand on even's heart and said lumos with a small smile, saying that now his heart should feel lightened)

3. random evak headcanons
i sent this to anki, for example:
imagine when they're like 30, even blows out a sigh in the car and wishfully says something about wishing to have a motorcycle and just,,, couple of months later, isak has bought him a motorcycle and (if the license for motorcycle doesn't come with the regular driving license as it used to in Sweden in like the seventies or smth) he takes the license with even, and then they go on a trip somewhere ;nnnn;
and we’ve talked about isak’s sleeping problems too. here’s the convo:
me:
okay, but like. i can't fall asleep. so im thinking about isak not being able to fall asleep. and that makes me just Upset
anki:
it's gotten a lot better now that he gets to sleep next to even every night. but sometimes, the thoughts still creep up on him, making it impossible for him to fall asleep and then he tosses and turns around in bed, kicking the bed linen off himself, then covers himself up again because he freezes and even wakes up from it, whispers a "can't sleep?" all groggy and isak nods, cuddles closer to even and takes a breath. one, two, three, four. tries to calm himself down. even's hands hold isak's, firmly but soft. "i'm here" even whispers and isak breathes out again. one two three four

and even doesn't force isak to tell him all his thoughts, if isak wanted to he'd tell him, and that makes isak calm down even more, he's getting a lil sleepier still not sleepy enough to actually fall asleep but at least he's napping a little
me:
even notices the difference immediately. isak's response time slows down, his words get bundled together before they leave his mouth, his gaze is glassy and far-away, and sometimes, it feels like he's speaking to a ghost.
even tries to do a lot of things for isak. but he knows this isn't something he just can't. fix. much like how isak can't fix /him/. but that doesn't mean he doesn't try.
he lets isak rest against his chest because the even's heartbeats makes it easier for isak to find some peace.
he lets isak gaze off mid-conversation, and easily gets him back to track when isak blinks a couple of times to find himself in the present.
he helps isak find someone to talk to-- a professional-- and he hates to see how it doesn't get any better. it's not that it's getting worse per se, but isak feels a lot worse (which makes even feel much worse) because he got his hopes up. instead he's just. a walking zombie sometimes.
one day on the weekend, even wakes up to isak softly snoring. he rolls off the bed, gently, to make some breakfast. and when he gets back to their bedroom, he can see the absolute terror in isak's eyes.
"what's wrong" he asks, and he's starting to panic.
it takes a while-- most of this part of the memory is locked behind a door in even's mind, but later when isak comes back from another doctor's appointment, he learns that it's called sleep paralysis.
"i saw monsters," isak tells him quietly, and even can see isak's hand shaking a little. "i thought i was going to die."
even doesn't know what to say. he recognises the feeling-- from the monster inside his own head that sometimes visits him and overstays its welcome. when he wakes up one day, feeling the depression slowly dissipate, he tends to think, "i thought i was going to die" too.
he holds isak tightly instead, and doesn't really say anything. but isak hugs him back tighter (but much weaker than he would've a month ago) and he knows that they'll get through this.
and i’ve talked to both anki and sunny about pokémon go and the boy sqad so...
since even is a '97 there's no reason for him not to be completely hyped up about pokemon go. like. magnus is like lowkey, jonas is probably more with even on this and mahdi and isak are like ?? but even and jonas definitely drags them all around oslo, trying to catch the fucking digital creatures and nearly screams when a Rare appears on their nearby list.
guess who gasped when gen2 was released? even.
guess who groaned? isak.
but it's actually quite useful, isak finds, for when even is getting restless and can't sleep. isak suggests, "let's see if there's any new pokémon, shall we?" and out they go. for half an hour, an hour-- maybe two hours late at night, just strolling and trying to get them. when they get back home, even finally manages to fall asleep, and isak is holding him tightly, muttering about "guess im not the only nerd in this relationship," before he too falls asleep.

being alone for too long, being left, being lost at an unfamiliar place, breaking something he's gotten as a gift, forgetting important dates, losing someone he loves, baring his soul, of himself when something feels Wrong but still not really wrong at all, making mistakes

being left, dark and small spaces, getting bad grades, Weird Insects™, hurting someone he cares about,

me: so i totally think isak would be scared of spiders and literally shriek when he sees one this summer and jumps up on a chair calling for even to come save him and even is like..... mate It's our roommate Bengt or smth
And isak is like no take it outside!!!! and then when Bengt has been let out to live its spidery life even just gently teases isak a little and isak is like no this didn't happen idk what you're talking about WHERE'S YOUR PROOF
anki: "I'm the master of liking spiders. they're so very...... nice"
me: "especially their..... legs?"
anki: "they have like....... eight legs don't you think that's......................... A LITTLE BIT TOO MUCH"
me: "a little bit too much" is definitely said with a squeak)
and
whatever you do absolutely do not think about the squads having a movie night at evak's place and isak falls asleep on even's shoulder, and even lets him sleep there for a while, even though he notices how isak starts to drool all over him, and when the movie is over the squads fall quiet because-- wow isak really is the softest boy around even???? and even just gestures them to be quiet and carries isak over to their bed and isak wakes up a bit, asking if the movie is over and if it was any good and he's sorry he fell asleep and please tell everyone good night from me and that i love my friends
and even does that, and when he comes back to bed isak is fast asleep again and he was honestly just going to lie close to isak for a while before cleaning up the plates and bowls for snacks they've used but he falls asleep to, holding isak closely and hearing his boy's deep breathing.
when he wakes up, in the middle of the night however, isak has managed to turn the tables and he's being held by isak again. he doesn't mind, even if isak has started drooling on his neck again
about even’s first movie being about isak:
me:
do you ever think abt even making his first movie and it isn't directly about isak but it's about his /love/ for isak and when isak watches it for the first time he is a sobbing mess

evak + snowboarding
next winter even definitely takes isak out for some snowboarding but isak is definitely hopeless at it and isak can be heard muttering about "is it even normal to want to be this high up on a fucking mountain and wanting to race down this shit on a fucking snowboard"
u know when u eaten spicy food and u wake up feeling hangover the next day? (i don’t but my apparently this is a thing lmao)
one day even makes the food too spicy but isak really wants to prove him he's Tough(TM) and eats it all and tries not to complain or show he's suffering and the next day isak wakes up feeling like he's hungover because there was so much salt and seasoning and shit that his body is like. mate. water pls.even laughs as he hands isak a waterbottle.
this summer evak moment we won’t see:
one day this summer, even will wake isak up at like 9am and be like "we're going to the beach today yes we aaaaree" and isak is like, tiredly, "we are?" and even is like YEP GET UP YOU LAZY BOY and the breakfast is in the table for isak when he has finally managed to roll out of bed and when he enters the kitchen isak opens the freezer bc "it's too hot even I can't live like this" and even closes the freezer bc "we have food in there isak, please" and then they get to the beach and isak rolls out the blanket or the towel and literally slumps down and falls asleep again, only to wake up to even touches his legs with.... something??? and isak squeaks "what are you DOING" and even stops for a second before he says "you need sun protection my pale boy, or do you want to turn into Donald trump?"
and then even plays some music on his phone, probably nas bc why not, and then isak wakes up again and is like "I need water NOW im BURNING" and they race into the water laughing and tripping and then they probably kiss in the water and isak challenges even into another hold your breath under the water competition and isak is so so grumpy that he never wins that shit

I Don’t Want to Be Out Anymore - Kira Yukimura

a/n: someday im gonna have a breakdown like this lmao
You didn’t like High School. You hated high school. It was literally the worst thing ever. In fact, you’d rather saw of your own hand than attend any classes, and see the douche bags who just find it hilarious to mess with you. Even as a senior, people were real jerks to you. For the year being 2017, not everyone was about the whole LGBTQ+ thing apparently.
But you went anyways, cause everyone needs an education right? And the harder you studied, the easier it’d be for you to go to college somewhere far, far away from Beacon Hills. And that sounded pretty damn good.
“y/n!” You ignored a whistle from one of the jocks from the basketball team, who were pretty cocky and always had a knack for getting on your nerves. “Hey baby why don’t you walk on this side of the hall?” You just shook your head, not even offering them a glance. “Oh right guys... she doesn’t walk straight” The boy snickered. You put in your earbuds to drown out the sound of them high fiving each other. Oh, how they think they’re so cool.
You reached your class without another problem, setting your books down on your desk and taking out a pen to begin the notes for the day in Chem. The girl at the lab table with you squirmed a little, and moved her seat over. You looked over at her, a slight hint of confusion on your features, and she gave you a nervous smile.
“Are you alright?” You asked, and she cleared her throat.
“Uh- uhm I’m fine I’m good” She choked the words out like they were poison, and your curiosity only peaked.
“Really? Cause you look like a deer in headlights” You said.
“It’s just I- well my name’s Becky” She said, and you nodded.
“I know...if you haven’t noticed, we have Chemistry together” You said, gesturing around the room.
“Well I’ve been working with my father, he’s a Priest you see, and I want to help volunteer in my Church you know?” You nodded, having no idea where this was going. You weren’t very religious yourself, and you barely knew this giurl. But she was giving you the summary of her life. “And I think I can help you”
“Help..me?” You asked, pointing to yourself, and she nodded.
“I saw you in the hall today, and I thought you could use some help” You smiled a little bit, the idea of a friend making your entire heart leap for joy. You’d never really had one. Sure, here and there you make a joke with the person sitting next to you, but you’d never really considered them a friend.
“Really?”
“Yeah, I’d like to help you get on the right path” Becky said with a big smile. She put a hesitant hand on yours.
“Right path?” You repeated, unsure of what she meant.
“Well if I understand it correctly, you’re bisexual, yes?”
“Um, yeah?”
“And I would like to help you mend the bond you broke with God, and realize you’re just confused-”
You snatched your hand away from hers, suddenly disgusted, your once jumping heart dying in your ribs.
“You wanna put me in some fucking brainwash camp?” You yelled, standing up at your desk. Students’ heads turned, looking at you, as well as the teacher, who stopped writing on the chalkboard.
“y/n, I want to help you find the right of passage” Becky reached for you, but you grabbed your things and backed away.
“Stay the hell away from me, I’m happy with who I am” You spat, walking quickly to leave the room. “Oh, and guess what bitch?” You snapped, turning to look back at her through the open doorway. “Pussy tastes hella good” You said with a wicked smirk, then slammed the door.
But you rushed as quickly as you could through the vacant halls to the girl’s bathroom. Sputters leaving your lips and tears stinging your eyes. You put your hands on the sink, trying to control your intake and outtake of breaths, but you couldn’t. It was all too much.
Were you really happy with who you were? You thought you would be. Happier that you were out, out of the closet, out of the shower whatever the hell you want to call it. But it only seemed to make things worse. The stupid jocks picking on you more and more, and now some random girl you’d never talked to before, wants you to believe that what you are is wrong. How twisted. How ludicrous. You looked up in the mirror, your mascara dripping onto your cheeks. You let out a strangled sob.
“What the hell is wrong with you!?” You cried out, fists hitting the sink as you sank to the ground. “What’s wrong with you” You whimpered again, pulling your knees up to your chest as you continued to cry quietly.
That’s when you heard an eerily familiar sound. The sound of a bathroom stall opening. You averted your eyes as the girl walked out, just barely seeing her boots in your peripheral vision.
“Hey, hey are you alright?” She asked, kneeling in front of you. You’d never seen her before, because surely you’d remember those oval shaped brown eyes and her cute button nose.
“Sorry I thought I was alone” You watched as she sat fully onto the floor, opening up her bag and pulling out hand sanitizer, and tissues. She handed you the small pack of travel tissues.
“I prefer not to wash my hands with the school soap. It just doesn’t smell as good as Bath and Bodyworks’ Island Margarita, yeah?” You took a silent whiff of her lotion, and nodded in agreement. “Now what’s a pretty girl like you doing wasting her time frowning and being sad in a school bathroom hm?” She leaned back a little, patiently waiting for you to answer.
“I-I don’t want to trouble you with my little problems. It’s dumb anyways” The girl gave you half a smile.
“It’s no trouble. I’ve got a free period, and I’m gonna guess I’m keeping you from going to class. So it seems to me we have all the time in the world to talk about it” She said. “I’m Kira by the way” She held out her hand, and you slowly raised your own to shake it.
“y/n” You said quietly, and she smiled with a slight nod.
“Well y/n, what’s making you cry?” She asked, You took a deep breath.
“These dicks think it’s funny to make fun of me because I like boys and girls, and this other girl tried to get me to go to a conversion camp and I sorta made a scene in front of my class and now I really wish i didn’t come out to people and I’m really regretting ever actually coming to school and I might just drop out now-”
“Woah woah” Kira put up her hand, stopping your quick rambling. “First of all, if it’s the basketball team, don’t take their shit. They’re all gay for each other. Walked in on a ‘team meeting’ once made me wanna puke that many people. Ick” You giggled a little at her shaking her head with her eyes shut and tongue out in a disgusted expression. Her features seemed to soften and she smiled when you laughed. “In fact don’t take anyone’s shit. You don’t deserve to frown when you have such a pretty smile” She said genuinely, and you felt yourself blush.
The bell rang, causing her to look at her phone for the time. “I guess all the time in the world could still only be so long” She said with a sad smile towards you, and she stood up. “I’m gonna see you around, right?” She asked, and you licked your lips.
“I mean... I did sorta pour my heart and soul out to you” You said, making her laugh. You felt the need to make her laugh all the time.
“You did indeed miss y/n” She said, and walked towards the door, adjusting her bag on her shoulder. “Oh, and by the way” She said quickly, turning to face you, and you looked up at her, half out the door. “My boyfriend was pretty chill when I told him I was a lesbian. He’s still my best friend, I hope I can introduce you in lunch” She said with a grin.
Your lips parted, mouth hanging open as you stared at her in shock. No words came out, and she just winked, and left.
You were in deep and you only knew the girl’s first name
