Ok Andy this had been on my mind for a while now and I really want to hear your thoughts on this!

So we all know that Shouto is pure husband material, the kinda guy you'd be proud to introduce to your parents! But yk all those years of abuse and trauma (our poor bby ;-;) would definitely take a big toll on anyone, right?! So I was reminiscing about the earlier episodes where he is all closed off and cold to everyone, and that really got me thinking... what would dating Shouto REALLY be like.

How much of his behavior in a relationship really be affected by his past? Obviously nobody is perfect and even though our princess man comes close what do you think his shortcomings are as a person/partner? What do you think his toxic traits would be? What could be some of his bad habits? How would he react during an argument? I used to hc that he would be really calm and passive but then I remembered this scene

Ofc us being his partner would change things, but he DOES lash out at times. The police officer hadn't yelled at them, he was just explaining what they did was wrong according to the law (which could be unfair but thats his job) and he straight up called him a slur 💀 (well yk in this society where so many ppl have animal related quirks it probably is a slur? Idk tho). He was sorry later but still. I was so shocked when I internalized the fact that Shouto does infact have quite a temper, even when he's not rude/ aggressive about it. It doesn't make him bad or anything because 9/10 times it's well warranted and I am just a pussy who doesn't handle other's anger well but yk...

WHO WOULD EXPECT A TEMPER FROM THIS LIL FACE?!

I am really wanna take his character and study him under a microscope and I am really interested to see your pov on this. Also don't feel inclined to agree with anything I said if you dont, I asked you precisely cuz I wanted a different way of looking at him from mine.

Btw none of this is to paint him as a bad person or partner because of a few shortcomings or his trauma. We all know he's too precious for that and that would be hypocritical of me especially since I have many of my habits and unhealthy ways of dealing with stuff that I dislike, but I also feel like he has so much angst potential in issues that aren't necessarily rooted in his family but moreso his own personality. Healing is often a "one step forward and three step back journey" and while I hate to watch him struggle, his perseverance gives me a lot of strength. Also obviously people change over the course of time and character development and all that, but we see even after the MASSIVE amounts of character development Bakugo has he still retains a lot of his previous qualities and obviously still struggles with a few things. I wonder if it's similar for Shouto. I wonder what he struggles with 🤔 (idk why I am scared but I don't want ppl to take these dumb sleepy thoughts of mine the wrong way yk lol)

(p.s. I am so sleepy rn I don't even know if any of this is coherent cuz the points are flying all over the place but I hope you get a gist of what I am trying to ask. I love myself some sweet angst when it comes to all my blorbos but when I think of Shouto nothing obvious comes to mind. Also whenever I write even an ask or question like this my respect for writers keeps increasing tenfold! How do you guys write fics at like 4 am and it's still a masterpiece and I can barely string my thoughts together... )

Yes!!! I have so many thoughts about this, particularly as someone who also has daddy issues and a hot temper but actively works to be better as well lol.

I do think for the most part we've really seen Shouto move past who he was in those earlier episodes. That is not to say he still doesn't have those feelings, but he arguably manages them in a more regulated way. He has the temper but now he also has the tools and the perspective to better articulate himself.

I think generally Shouto would work hard to be calm and patient during an argument, but as with any human being, mistakes will be made and tempers will spike. I think during particularly bad arguments he'd get more closed off, like in those earlier episodes, would try to go off by himself so that he doesn't explode with that white-hot rage.

I do think, thankfully, that Shouto's ability to show empathy and compassion even in the middle of what we know are the most emotionally trying times of his life (the fights with Dabi), bodes well for his future ability to communicate and regulate himself on the whole. I do not see him as the kind of man who would yell or break things; I see him as the kind of man who now does everything in his power not to be like that.

And also with a face like that, would we not just let him win any argument anyway?? LOL

I'm afraid of my mom— I'm an African American so my mom, thanks to how she was raised, she used to hit us ( just small bonks in the head. Not hard. ) and because of it, I'm really scared of her.. And after that incident, I've been more scared of her then ever.. Especially now that I'm thinking of telling her about my depression and anxiety so I can finally get therapy... I've tried to do something really bad cuz of her and depression too..

Just now, our kitchen sink flooded cuz our washing machine is messed up, there were only 3 dishes in the sink. ( 2 cups and my water bottle) and she called us both 'lazy' cuz she thought it was cuz of the dishes..

She always calls ME lazy and makes comments about my weight. Like " oh your loosing weight! " or " look at that. Your clothes are getting bigger! " once even calling me ugly.. ( I called her pretty and she mumbled " you can be too you just choose not to. " )

It's to a point where, I only talk to her if I wanna tell her something really quick or I have too. The most thing I say to her in a day is ' I love you ' ' thank you ' and ' your welcome '

And a few.. Weeks ago? She told us to do something so we had to put A LOT of stuff in the closet. and now cuz were gonna be moving, she keeps saying EVERY. DAY.

" you girls need to clean out that closet"

It's really annoying.. And also, today my little sisters toys were a mess. And she wasn't in the room at the moment so my mom came to bring back the hamper and she yelled at ME because of it.

first impressions- tbh i thought he was a weird ass bitch who needed cough drops bc his lil villain cough was making no one but the butterflies scared. like his ability was rlly cool but i didn’t really get him at first. also his name took me ages to pronounce 😭😭

impression now- genuinely one of my fav characters!!! he’s such a guy y’know. a goofy little guy. but i do rlly like his backstory and how he persevered and fought through ever and still was a morally bad person. like i luv seeing characters i adore suffer to hell and back and then finally find some sort of broken peace with themselves. aku allowing himself to value his own wants and needs after fighting atsushi and seeing him grow as a character is just perfect. 10/10 i luv him my blorbo forever <3

favourite moment- anything in wan tbh. i know i just went on a heartfelt rant abt aku but. wan aku is the true star let’s be honest. i mean look at him. just stare into those soulless eyes.

I'M BACK I'M BACK-

I spent the entire weekend at the hello82 ATEEZ pop-up in my city and omg, there were so many ppl,,,I talked to staff a lot these last few days and apparently ppl started lining up around 7 am to me further up in line,,,,(for reference, staff arrive at 11 am and the pop up doesn't open until noon),,,,they sold out in 2 and a half hrs Friday, 2 hrs Saturday, and 1 and a half hrs Sunday,,,,the amt of dedication some of these ppl have scares me, esp since it was 43°F (6°C) in the morning 😭😭

I'm still in shock over just how much has happened over the weekend, starting from the countdown live Thursday night before the MV and album dropped 💀

I ended up buying a signed album (BY MY BIAS NONETHELESS?? LIKE HELLO?? WHAT- 😃) and a pop up exclusive vinyl (I ALMOST did not get to buy it cuz they sell things out so fast even tho I was 9th or 10th in line) :D

THE POPUP AND HELLO82 EXCLUSIVE DIGIPACKS SOLD SO FAST?? Esp today, the Digipacks were out of stock by the 4th person in line,,,,all 4 of the first ppl in line bought 4 Digipacks EACH and I was walking around Sunday at the venue (being kinda nosy) to see what ppl got, and one of them had bought 1 of each version PLUS a signed album 😭 and Saturday, I watched a person walk out with like, one of each item (vinyl, at least 1 of each of the 3 versions of the album, and I think like 2-4 Digipacks and a signed, or if not, 3 signed versions of the albums 😭😭), and staff was nervous that their bag was going to break even thought they separated their stuff into 2 bags already 😭

I also spoke with someone in line who was in line all 3 days and they said they didn't sell out as fast on Friday because everyone was being careful to make sure more ppl could get the chance to buy something, but it seems they ran out of stock so quickly on Saturday and Sunday because some ppl up at the front bought up to the max limit, leaving the others with no chance of getting them which sucked 😭😭

I went thru so much gas this weekend for the pop up and the Cupsleeve events that went on in my area,,,,I started the weekend with a tank that was 7/8th of the way full, and now I'm down to 1/6 💀

But it was a fun weekend and I'm happy with everything I got, kinda wish some of the ppl up at the front of the line thought a bit more ab the ppl at the back when purchasing tho,,,cuz apparently they were there all 3 days and maxed out the purchases of at least 1 thing each day ;-;

Question: it seems the alot of the Despicable Me villains were influenced to become villains due to a negative childhood/past. Gru was basically neglected by him mom, Balthazars show was canceled, Scarlet was possibly living in poverty and had a neglectful family (atleast from her point of view), and let's face it, Vector possibly became a villain mainly cause it was the family buissness and he wanted to live up to his dad's expectations. Granted, there are probably many who became villains cause 'why the fuck not?', like El Macho, (Honestly, if being a villain was a straight up career path, I would TOTALLY be taking that opportunity), but still. Do you think atleast some of the Vicious 6 had traumatic or negative pasts that pushed them to want to become villains? And while we're on the topic, what was your ocs influences to become villains?

I Think w some of the vicious 6 it could be both, something might've happened and it could also be a "lol fuck you" to society and to get what they want. To show that they're powerful, Like with Jean I noticed he's obviously somewhat anxious at times, when not out of the field, fidgeting and nail biting which are signs of anxiety, his voice cracks. It could just be he's scared of Belle. Maybe he had developed anxiety after smthing or someone then he developed tech to destroy it and now he's just spooked of Belle lmfao idk 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️

Wild Knuckles has probably been thru shit cuz, he old. And god damn how is he not dead this dude immortal like tf. Alan Became a villain to make a face for himself, To feel some sense of worth for himself. (before also using his power to shut down brand competitors, did THAT out of petty honestly 🤪) Elliot Became a villain out of rage

and Valerie became a villain because of hatred, she so said fuck it and went with her homies to cause CHAOS.

Alan I'm thinking probably came from a family, of average wealth, his father was probably the money maker and a douche, pretty snarky about it. And I imagine Alan had a difficult time actually getting a job and because of that was probably kicked to the curb all because his dad wanted someone who could make them look good 🧍🏽So they kicked him out. Burned all his stuff. Told him he had no son, unless he made himself a bigger person, a face in this world, then MAYBE he'd let him back into their life. He's very lonely and was probably lost for some while until he found Elliot, which eventually lead them to Valerie. He holds a lot of self loathing, a lot of misery, he just wants to feel something other than hatred and loneliness so he bathes in money.

Valerie was expected to be her mommies and aunts perfect image, to be exactly like them, like some braindead zombie djhfkjdsfhd and she was for years, but every time she stepped out of line she got SOME kind of punishment, and would have to redeem herself in someway, but after just being done with that bullshit she tried to just, y'know walk out. But instead she just got the fking yells n hands pulled out on her. She really tried to save her image she had on them 🤷🏽‍♀️ BUT THEN THAT BITCH RAN. She knows how to run in heels because she slays 💅🏽✨

She holds a lot of resentment, but blowing shit up makes her feel better 🤪🤪🤪

And Elliot, became a villain out of hatred towards literally everyone ✨🕺🏽✨ except his family, this lil dude loved his family with all his big heart 🥺 Wasn't really always a villain, more like an anti-hero? At first? He would fight other crime and even random people for a bounty to bring home to his family, but ig he killed someone he shouldn't have bc one night when he came home and he found his family had been offed. he was just absolutely terrified. Then he was absolutely furious. THATS when he became a full on villain, to take his rage out on absolutely everything. He even built robot droids he calls his babies lol

But one day he stopped after he realizes, maybe this isn't a good way to let out his frustration 🧍🏽(there's more than that tho)

*Now I’m not quite far in the Addy’s Origins comic to explain most of these relationships and the comic is supposed to short so Addy doesn’t meet everyone anyway but these are how the relationships would be if I had time to display them. Also slight spoilers here, but it gets decided later to keep Addy being a love child a secret from everyone. The only ones who know are Diavolo, Lucifer, Barbatos, Solomon and maaaaaaybe Simeon. I haven’t decided if I want him in the loop. So Addy thinks of Lucifer’s bros as uncles but they don’t know that they view them as such.

[With Demons]

Lucifer - As their dad, Addy loves and respects him very much, but is aware of Lucifer’s apprehension to except them as their child due to their mysterious appearance. That being said Addy is patient and willing to work hard to earn Lucifer’s approval.

Mammon - The cool uncle, though Addy understands a lot of Mammon’s actions cause his dad stress, they have a soft spot for him since Mammon actually cares and is nice. They do appreciate that Mammon is willing to include them in his schemes.

Leviathan - The quiet uncle, They don’t quite see eye to eye sometimes as Addy is a more active individual, but is very interested and happy when Levi shares his hobbies with them.

Satan - The brother uncle, technically speaking Satan is both their uncle and a brother of sorts, but disregarding the strange family tree situation Addy views him more of an older sibling. They respect him, but disapprove of his untidy room and rebel behavior towards Lucifer at times.

Asmodeus - The Alabama uncle, Asmo will always be an Asmo so he does flirt and get a little handsy with Addy, though they laugh it off as Asmo being affectionately quirky. They often will got to Asmo for outfit advice and accessories since he is the most fashionable of his uncles.

Beelzebub - The sporty uncle, Beel’s appetite does surprise and scare them at times, but Addy enjoys the times when Beel exercises and plays sports with them.

Belphegor - The complicated uncle, Addy is bothered by Belphie’s disrespect towards his dad and father in the past and finds it hard to talk to him for that reason. However, they are aware that Belphie deep down cares, so they make an effort to be cordial with him.

Diavolo - As his father, Addy also loves and respects him very much. They are aware of his position as future King, and much like Lucifer, is careful to not make him look bad. They have a closer bond with each other considering both share friendly/childish behavior.

Barbatos - The unofficial uncle, Addy is very curious about Barbatos’ history and is appreciative that he takes care of his father. They enjoy learning about things from Barbatos and often go to him for advice if he doesn’t seek it from their parents.

[With Angels]

Simeon - Addy can be slightly shy towards Simeon as they don’t particularly have a sense of what angels are really like. They can sense that their father has his issues with angels, but is also aware that their dad is close or at least once was so they remain friendly Simeon.

Luke - Being quite young in appearance, Addy doesn’t take as much caution around Luke as they do with Simeon. They would take part in the running chihuahua joke that their dad and uncles started.

Michael - They don’t have a lot of information about Michael so they only have a neutral opinion of him.

[With Humans]

Solomon - They view Solomon in a similar light to Barbatos. Curious about his past, but willing to trust him. Addy is also interested in learning magic from him considering he’s a powerful sorcerer.

+ They the adopted the young lad when he was just a newborn (Fresh outta the batterbox- yes and that is what she said!)

+They’re kinda concerned when they first met him because he was quite a tiny little thing and the nurse was like “Oh no he’s healthy! He’s just very small for a newborn that’s all!”

+ Idk if I said this already but they didn’t want to introduce Makoto to the former class until he was bigger, because they want to at least get him settled and not overwhelm him with so many new faces (and with the class in general being loud)

+ Newborn makoto acted like a typical newborn; crying through the night, hungry, you know newborn things. As for his parents, they mostly took ‘shifts’ (aka one finding the other passed out on the couch while the milk boils over and makoto is still crying in the bg)....yeah they’re totally fine :)

+When they were still prepping for makoto they actually went to quite abit of parenting classes and was practically dragged into a baby shopping spree with the girls. They wanted to go with more neutral colors as they didn’t know his gender at the time but instead uh... let's say lil’ koto has an interesting wardrobe  thanks to his aunts (and uncles too!) + He’s also in one of these (Nagito’s fault) cuz..LISTEN ITS TOO CUTE OF OPPORTUNITY TO PASS UP OK-

+ They often feared they were doing bad job with Makoto, but then they watch how other other people treat their kids or how the kids would treat them and they look at makoto who be vibing and they’re like ‘I guess we’re doing alright..’ =beyond this point is when he in his months and like 1st year= +I think its pretty obvious to say that makoto is more or less a happy lil baby! He liked to laugh and giggle a lot, and clap (no particular reason he just did.) and wiggle around (ibuki: It looks like little mako is dancing! Go on mako! show ‘em your moves!!). Still pretty small tho because he cursed like that. + Because he is so small he HATES being cold, like lil man will throw a fit if you even think about not bundling him up. Even if it’s just a lil chilly out so they always make sure to bring a spare blanket with them whenever they go out. + His favorite heat warmer is his papa (Hajime) he’s just lot warmer and softer than his dada (Nagito) both body and heat wise. (Nagito is still Nagito just without his illness, so he’s just really pale and lanky.) But that just means he has a lot of photo ops to take of the sleeping pair.   +People often ask the pair if makoto is their biological son because of just how similar he looks to the two of them, sometimes to mess with people they say yes. +Makoto likes to babble.. quite a lot, he likes to babble a lot to parents. Nagito plays along and also talk to him to. Hajime often watches the two interact and is like ‘what on earth are they planning???’ (M: bab bab ba ba *shierks* N: *Babbles back* M: *babbles and claps his hands* N: Ah yes, I know perhaps we can go do that later, we should be able to find that there.) +Whenever Makoto starts to babble to Hajime, the two talk like they’re having a conversation of sort back and forth. Though hajime talks normal words to him. (M: Ba! ba! ababab aaaa! H: Wha-? You want cereal? No Mako! I’m not giving you cereal yet your not old enough. M: *cries*)  +LoOK I know I said Izuru would only talk normally to him, but it's too funny not to think about Izuru babbling to Makoto. (Makoto and Izuru: *having a conversation* Hajime: *comes in* what are you two doing? Izuru: *sighs* you’re interrupting a important conversation here.) +In this AU nagito is an amputee (no left hand, he lost it due to the plane crash when he was young) Whenever nagito has his prosthetic off, Makoto often thinks that his stump is a great pacifier/teething toy.  +Now I have no clue what job Hajime or Nagito would have but, Hajime does have one (one that he could tell you about). Nagito.. well let me explain; If you ever watched Martin, then there was this running gag in the show where Tommy always said he got a job but he never said what the job and everyone would ask what he did and he’d just reply ‘ it’s my job’....yeah so that's nagito.  + So anyway,  Nagito also brings Makoto with him to commit arson, he carries him around in baby carrier don’t worry! he got lil headphones, glass and stuff for protection!  + Their family portrait is the three of them in all black with shades looking like they came outta an action movie (they’re posing dramatically too) while they’re like an explosion/ big ass fire behind them. Mahiru was very concerned for Makoto’s safety that day.   +They’re nicknames for him range from ‘Koto, Mako, lil nugget, hope nugget’ and then everyone else has different ones for him (tiny person of light, makutie, lil’ man, Koko, mini nagito, big or mini mac, and little shit.)   + Nagito holds him like he is the most delicate little thing, Hajime holds him like a normal person should, Izuru knows how to hold him properly but he doesn’t, he will pick his nephew by his leg and hold him upside down and just carry him around like that (Makoto will just giggle while his parents kinda freak out). + For his first birthday it mostly just consisted of his parents and his aunt + uncles (and their kids if they had any). He managed to “blow out” the candle by thwacking the flame with his hand, didn’t affect him to bad bc they got a cute cake smash photo with a cake covered Mako (A bad alternative would be him not touching the cake at all because he thwacked fire and it made him cry/scared the shit out of him) + Nagito came to find that with makoto his luck is a lil weird; like when he goes to play the lottery he finds that he isn’t winning  like he used too. But when it comes the big numbers something bad happens that day and he goes to play and he wins. Weird huh? (I'm sorry i don’t nagito’s luck cycle that well-) + The moment makoto learns how to use his legs properly and can run, it is ON. Also he is one of those kids that if he’s too quiet for to long he’s up to something.  + Makoto wants your food, and is not taking no for an answer. He’ll look at either of his parents and if they don’t give him the food fast enough or at all, he’ll just forcibly grab the spoon or fork and eat it (if its a finger food he’ll just aggressive grab the food from the bowl) don’t let it be one of his fav foods, he will fight you. Their drink aren’t save either if there's a straw he’s taking that too.

Good day it’s a new au time cuz BRAIN ROT BRRRRR

Anyhow it’s a “MCU” but not kinda au

Ru is a tech company CEO giant with his daughter Harriet (his business partner is his former wife who wants nothing to do with their kid) and adopted the recently orphaned Kaya Solaria after she helped stop a mugger in the alley way (well. Spider King did but her mask got hit off by a bullet and Ru saw it was just a kid and stepped in)

Working on running a company, raising his 6 year old as well as a super powered 15 year old (Kaya actually has Spiderman’s powers, King came after the fact and is tied to how she lost her dad) he ends up getting injured on a business trip after he was taken captive. Upon return he decides to try and ‘be a hero’ as a means to get his eldest to stop sneaking out (she has guilt over her dad dying so tries to be a hero to make up for it despite Ru asking her to wait until she’s 18 at least)  he figures if he can get the world (or at least their city) safer, she can rest at ease (cuz he’s a good dad and just wants her to... be a kid. not try to be more than a kid) he uses the Alias “Thorned Snatcher” (as his last name is Thatcher)

Vanessa however wants his new tech as she thinks its the key to a new weapons future and nearly kills Ru when she rips the reactor from his chest. Thankfully he had his old model still and his secretary (Eclipse) and daughters get home in time to help him. he knows if he doesn’t stop Vanessa things will be even worse for his family.

During their fight, he’s knocked down and nearly stops there to tired, but hears his daughters crying for him, specifically for the first time since he adopted her Kaya calls him “Dad”. He knows he needs to keep to his goal and if Vanessa is left free he failed a father.

He manages to get up with the Help of Eclipse who joined the fight, having stalled Vanessa hand to hand despite Vanessa’s weapon suit (sus eclipse is sus) and he’s able to fight again and put an end to her.

he gives Kaya a stipulation when they are waiting on the cops, he’ll let her fight crime, but only when he’s with her.

and thats the first part of this au eve (second bit deals with miss secretary past. A woman who is able to give Kaya a sore hand with a high five despite kaya can stop some extensive things (likepeterstoppingbucky’sfist) and went toy to toy with Vanessa with just a hub cap. Hrm. Cap. Cap. Captain...?)

I actually wrote up when Ru met Kaya. It’s a lil fast pace but I did it on purpose.

“If ya just hand ova ya wallet and yer valuables, you and yers can get out of here with a scar on your little faces.”

Arulius sighed as he heard the mugger and moved an arm to push his 6 year old behind his back. He gently gestured to his watch with a finger, to which she tapped a button on to call their bodyguard, Florence. 

“I’m afraid I really don’t have time for this. Harriet has a dance recit--” Arulius clicked his tongue when the gun was pressed up into his neck.

“I’m bein generous, man.” he pressed it further, pulling the hammer back.

“That’s not very polite! Did your dad never tell you not to stick your shooter in people’s faces?” Came a laughing voice. The mugger gasped when black webbing stuck to his back and pulled him to the ground. 

Standing perpendicular to the wall was the dark-suited figure, glowing white eyes and jagged smile laughing.

“D-Dad! Dad, it’s Spider King!” Harriet giggled as she hung onto her dad’s leg. He scowled and went to step back.

“YA FREAK!” The mugger tried to fight against the restraints, the primed gun going off in the hero’s direction.

There was a hiss as the masked figure fell off the wall with a solid thud. Arulius scooped Harriet up, only stopping when he saw the vigilante's face, the bullet having knocked her mask off.

“A… A kid?” he grimaced. Why was a CHILD attacking a mugger? Before he could open his mouth to speak there was a hissing.

“N-No King don’t! I’m fine! I’m fine!” the teenager gasped as the black claws she had tore off in slimy chunks, lunging at the mugger. She winced with the crunch as his hands were removed and she paled some, shaking.

Arulius shielded his daughter’s eyes.

“BOSS!” The red head came barreling down the alley, a bit too late when Spider King tried to grab her mask. 

“Stop.” Arulius ordered her. She looked up with frightened gold eyes. The tentacles retracting up her sleeves, “wait a moment.”

“Oh gross!” Florence shuddered as she moved to get the mugger up, the man an incoherent mess, “you do this?” she asked the teenager whose temple was bleeding.

She said nothing and gripped her arms as she tried to process. She blinked when tiny hands went to her cheeks.

“BIG SIS IS SO COOL!” Harriet giggled. Her father was talking on his phone.

“I-I’m.. No…” she looked away ashamed, “Y-You… I’m… I just… wanted to help…” she began to sniffle, “I-I didn’t mean for king to…”

“He hurt Sol. Bite back.” The snake-like creature peeked from the girl’s collar.

“I-I told you no biting h---” she placed her hands over her mouth and scurried to her feet, violently vomiting into a trash can. She panted some. Tensing when a hand rubbed her back gently.

“Yes. yes. He shot his own hands off in his confusion. Must be high.” Arulius was standing near her now as he spoke on the phone, “My guard was able to restrain him. Yes. yes I’m fine as is my daughter and the teen he was attacking. Mmhm.”

She flinched when he scowled and tilted her head up, “scratch that, looks like the teen got a bit hurt, but we’ll treat her. Yes. yes. I’ll leave my guard here.” hanging up he shifted his phone to his pocket before licking his thumb and wiping the blood away. She winced.

“O-Ow don’t! That stings!” she whined as tears pooled in her eyes.

King hissed and went to bite him but stopped when the girl sniffled. He nuzzled her cheek as Arulius let go. 

“Come on.” he pointed towards the black car that pulled around, “let’s go and then I’m calling your parents.”

She gripped her arms and stood firm, “T-Thanks for calling the police b-but you better f-forget you saw me, Mr. Thatcher.” she chuckled nervously, brushing black hair from her face.

“You know who I am?”

“O-Of course I do! Who wouldn’t?! Thatcher tech is my dream job!” she gasped, “I-I was a-at your summer program--” she covered her mouth.

He clicked his tongue, “the one for highschoolers?” he asked. She whined and moved to run but bumped into Florence who huffed.

“Give me your parent’s number.” Arulius sighed.

“I… I don’t…” she chewed her lip. She was quiet.

“Where do you live at least? I’ll drop you off.” he shook his head.

“PARK!” King chirped.

“Hush!” She fretted.

“The park? You live in the park?” Harriet asked as she stood near the teenager’s legs, “That’s not fun!”

“W-well i-I couldn’t stay at m-my apartment…” The teen frowned. She winced when she was pushed towards the car. Whining and trying to deflect she found herself sitting in the back. Harriet crawled in and grinned as Arulius sat in the passenger’s seat.

“No parents. No house. Now I get why a damn kid is running at muggers.” he rubbed his temples with a groan, “name?”

She was quiet.

“I’m not calling you ‘spider king’ name.” he asked a bit firmer.

“S-Solaria…” she mumbled, “K-Kaya Solaria…” she wiped the tears with the back of her gloves, “A-Are you going to turn me in?? I-I don’t mean any harm Mr. Thatcher! I-I promise! I-I normally do fine!!!”

“How old are you?” He opened the window and put a cigarette in his mouth and leaned out as he lit it up. “Under 18 if you were at the company summer program.”

“I… I turned 15 last month…” she admitted ashamed. 

“You’re a few years older than me!” Harriet beamed, “I’m 6!” she grinned.

“I’m more like a decade older…” Kaya chuckled nervously. She looked at the tech company CEO. he had pulled a laptop out and made another annoyed click with his tongue. She winced.

“Your father…. Gabriel Solaria?” he leaned back, “the journalist?”

She nodded.

“Damn shame. He was a decent guy. His stories were interesting.” he flicked through the news reports as Florence got in the driver’s seat.

“Done with the cops?” he asked, “stop by the courthouse.”

“Huh?” she started the engine, “courthouse.”

“P-Please! D-Don’t turn me in! I-I’ll b---”

“I need to grab some adoption papers.” he gave a smirk and looked back at the crying teen, “Since it seems Harriet's getting an older sister. But no more crime fighting.” he shifted to cross his arms and put his feet on the dash. “15… fucking 15. You know what I did at 15??”

“Built a rocket engine that was able to lift a treadmill?” she stated with a small smile.

He blinked and snickered, “okay, yes but I was also just. Going to sch--- do you go to school?”

“I-I’ve been attending school still.” she scratched her cheek, “Um… Subcon Public high…” she sank back in the seat. She jumped when Harriet sat on her and protectively put her arms around the younger girl. She shifted her seat belt around her as well when Florence pulled into traffic.

“Well you’ll have to transfer. Is that an issue?”

She shook her head, “U-Um mr. Thatcher… what… are you planning?” she asked softly.

“Adopting a lost child, and making sure she doesn’t do anything stupid.” he snickered, “Any school you want to attend?”

“I… i you can’t! Y-You just met me!” she gasped in shock, “I-I’m a freak! I’m an accident! I-I have an alien!”

“Meeee” king stated proudly with a cackle.

“Yes but you know what I see? I see a scared kid who’s trying a little too hard.” he scoffed as she stared, “and we’re going to grab adoption papers, then I’m ordering pizza. Any allergies?”

“EAT EVERYTHING,” King laughed.

“Perfect then.” Arulius huffed, “and you can call me Arulius. Since I guess calling me dad off the bat would be weird.” he began to type on his laptop.

She sat there in confusion. She’d simply gone to help someone. And now her idol was adopting her. Her. a mutant spider freak with a parasitic alien.

She reached and pinched her cheek and whined.

Arulius caught this in the rear view and began to cackle loudly.

“Sorry kiddo. You’re awake.”

“B-But why are you just adopting me and not turning me into a lab or something?!” she asked fearfully.

“Dad’s nicer than he looks~!” Harriet giggled, “Can you shoot webs?”

“Mmhm.” Kaya shifted her gloves off and removed the cuff under her sleeve, “its um. An artificial webbing actually, unless King is the one shooting it. He has a gooey webbing.” 

Arulius peeked and reached a hand back. She frowned before handing the cuff to him.

He turned it over in his hands with an impressed whistle, “you construct this?”

She nodded, “I-I like engineering and I figured it’d be useful when king’s tired, i-it’s bio degradable too! But really strong!”

“That's how you swing around right?” Harriet asked with sparkling eyes, “What else can you do?!”

“Well I can walk on walls.” Kaya sighed, “I’m pretty strong too? I can lift a car if I focus. I can move fast?” she frowned, “I’ve never really… tho-- STOP THE CAR!” She gasped.

Florence slammed on the brakes as the truck at the intersection sped by.

“There’s um that. Normally I can semi tell something can happen.” Kaya frowned, “s-sorry for yelling.”

“No, by all means!” Florence laughed, “So. Spider King huh?”

“W-well it’s cuz I’m spider-esque and then King.” she pet the alien who chirped.

“What’s his deal?” Arulius asked but got silence, “alright another day then.” 

Florence parked the car as Arulius got out.

“Wait here,” he stated and Kaya just gave a nod. He threw her web shooter back and she caught it with wide eyes, “You’re grounded from crime fighting until you’re 18, but I won’t take your web shooters.”

“Ah… okay…?” she blinked as he shut the door and headed up. She leaned into the seat and just sat there. Very confused.

“Can I call you big sis? Or kai??” Harriet asked the older girl.

“Oh… um… I guess you can call me whatever….”

“Kaya’s a cute name.” Florence chuckled, “Crime fighting though. What a hobby.”

“I… I just wanted to help people…” she admitted softly, “I have these abilities so I thought I needed to…”

“Can you swing with me when we get home? We have a big tree in the yard!” Harriet giggled, “can you sign my daily bugle of you??”

“I’d rather not…” Kaya chuckled.

“Sleepy.” King huffed.

“Exhausted,” Kaya admitted as she shut her eyes. She barely registered she’d fallen asleep.

After a bit Arulius returned with the needed paperwork. He blinked and smiled as he looked in the back seat. The superhero passed out, his daughter sleeping against her.

Kaya’s arm rested around Harriet, and even King was putting his head on the girl.

“Well, not the oddest thing I’ve ever dealt with.” he spoke softly as Florence started the car once more. He flipped through the papers, “seems people had no idea she was on her own. Thought her uncle had her but turns out he lied and was just taking the financial support.” he grumbled, “there’s some messy hearings but I think I can just. Pay it off.” he looked back and gave a smile, “hey free babysitter.” he snickered.

He tapped his foot as he crossed his arms with a huff.

“Kaya.”

She looked away ashamed.

“What did I say?”

“No webbing in the house unless you’re watching.” she mumbled.

“And then why is the house covered in webs?” he asked with a twitch of his eyebrow.

“I-I was just playing with Hattie!” she defended. She huffed and he smirked. She seemed a bit more settled in if she was copping an attitude, “I-I’ll clean it up! I promise Mr. Thatcher!”

“Arulius. I told you, use my first name. You’re my kid now you know.” he sighed and headed inside.

She stepped aside and rubbed her neck, looking at the floor, “I-I can’t just… call you your name… that’s rude…”

“You’re my kid now, it’s weirder if you keep calling me “Mr. Thatcher” I’m not asking you to call me dad but.” he chuckled.

“THOT!” king sang loudly as the teen’s face turned red.

“I-I didn’t teach him that! I swear!”

You mentally cursed as the ceramic plate shattered against the hard flooring. You could only glare at, Jungkook who had ‘accidentally’ pushed the plate off the table.

“Maid!” Jungkook impatiently snapped his fingers. “Clean this mess up, will you?”

Wordlessly, you got down on your hands and knees and picked up the pieces of broken marble. You used your the skirt of your uniform as a little device to hold the remnants of glass and wasted food. 

You walked away, cursing under your breath as a chorus of laughter rang around your bosses. Good for them, finding humor in your humiliation.

“Calm down Y/N, they’re just messing with you.” you tried to cheer yourself up. “You’re doing this for your family.”

You were determined to help your folks out to the best of your ability. Even if it meant torture from a bunch of rich assholes who never lifted a finger a day in their lives. When you finally had enough, you were gonna buy a huge ass house right next to this shit hole and tell your bosses to suck it.

“That’ll be the day.” you smiled thinking about how one day you would own property and get your mom, dad, sisters and brothers out of that tiny ass house. 

“Talking to yourself again, maid?” a voice cut through your inner montage of you moonwalking away from your bosses.

“No sir.” You ignored Yoongi as you threw the broken plate away. “I’ll get another serving ready.”

Luckily for you, it was only a salad and not a hot meal.

You basically flopped into bed. After a 2-hour phone call to your mom, who had managed to make you feel better. You were so done, you could fall aslee-

You will apparently forever and always stand corrected. Yoongi’s room was literally right next to yours. However while yours was practically the size of a janitors closet, he along with his friends got all the luxury. You heaved yourself out of bed and trudged to his room.

“You wanted to see me.” you announced.

“Close the door.” he ordered. “ The boys think your behavior is unacceptable.”

“I’m sorry?”

“You will be.” he stood up from his bed, arms crossed. He was only in his black pants and crisp button up shirt. The first three buttons were undone, exposing his toned collarbones. Don’t look, don’t look. “They said the way you bent down, was provocative and attention grabbing.”

“With all due respect, I was cleaning up a mess one of you made.” you were confused. “How else was I supposed to-”

“I understand how pleasure can get in the way of work, but trying to seduce us on the job is very inappropriate.”

“Excuse you?” you said flatly. “I wasn’t trying to do anything like that!”

“They don’t see it that way, L/N.”

“Well you guys are bigger morons that I thought. Not every girl wants to throw themselves at your feet!” you crossed your arms.

“Well apparently you had no problem throwing yourself at Jungkook’s now did you?”

“Then why do you answer to it...Maid?” Yoongi smirked, crossing his arms.

“Because if I don’t, you people turn into conniving evil assholes, using my situation against me!” you snapped in reply. “Why are you treating me like this!?”

“Oh baby...I treat you like a maid because that’s basically all you are.” he looked you up and down.

You didn’t have any control over what happened next. Your hand had basically shot out and slap him square across the face. 

“How...dare you!” you snapped. “You know what! I don’t care if I lose my job. You sit there on your high horse acting like your above anyone when I bet you’ve never even washed your own socks!”

Yoongi was still in shock. You had never had enough guts to stand up to anyone. All sorts of thoughts raced through his head. Shock...rage...interest..

Dare he say, pleasure?

“I am the best damn think that’s happen to this house since the last maid quit and I have worked hard for EVERYTHING I have! So here’s what I have to say before I pack my shit and leave-”

“L/N...” he warned. “I wouldn’t say another word.”

“You can go fuck yourself!” you spat anyways. “FUCK YOU, MIN!”{ you spat his name out as if it were poison. 

You had no idea how the series of events happened. Yoongi stormed up to you. You backed yourself against the door, scared out of your mind. 

“Say it again.” he breathed hoarsely. 

Wait what?

“What?” you voiced your thoughts aloud. “I’m sorry?”

“No.” he shook his head. “I’ve been waiting for this side of you for a while now.” He pinned his arms above your head. “Say it.”

“F-fuck you.” you whispered.

“That’s exactly what I’m gonna do, Miss L/N.”

...

You woke up the next day to find feathers all around you. Your body ached every time you moved. You had remembered the night prior. You and Yoongi...

Speaking of which, he was still sleeping. He was laying with his head resting in his hands. He laid on his back, snoring softly. You were curious as to why he didn’t tell you to leave.

You tried to sit up. You didn’t wanna wake him. You’re uniform was on the floor, so you quietly got dressed.

“Were you going to leave without a word, maid?”

You turned around as Yoongi sat up. “A bit rude don’t you think?”

“I wasn’t sure if you wanted me still in your bed when you woke up.” you answered honestly.

“Well obviously.” he scoffed. “I was pretty clear in my intentions towards you.”

“Oh...you were serious?” you were surprised. “O-okay.”

In an instant you were pulled back into bed. Yoongi tightened his arms around you.

“Y’know while I’d love to be here with you in bed...I still have a job.”

“Fuck that...from now on your job is being my woman.” he scoffed.

Damn...DAMN he was smooth. 

“With all due respect, Yoongi. I’m a firm believe in working for what you have, it makes the outcome a lot more satisfying.”

“Alright, you can keep working. However...I think it’s time I give you a promotion.” he kissed the top of your head.

“About time.” you scoffed. “I’ll have your breakfast ready in a second.”

...

“You seem very happy today Y/N.” Hoseok commented as you gracefully set down the food tray.

“Do I?” you replied. “Guess I had a change of heart.” you shrugged.

“Hm, what are you planning? You put laxatives in the eggrolls?” Jungkook raised an eyebrow at you.

“No...I’m not sure what’s gotten into me.” you replied.

“I might have an idea.” Yoongi walked into the room, adjusting his tie. He winked at you as he sat down in his usual spot. “Did you prepare my usual?”

“Just the way you like it, sir.” you replied nonchalantly. The other boys were concerned, you had never spoken in such a high regard before. You were always huffing and giving half-assed answers...now you were behaving like a sly kitten.

“Make sure you come to my room after breakfast, maid...we have unfinished business.” Yoongi didn’t look up from his newspaper. “I expect you in a timely manner....Miss L/N.”

For the first time since you started working there, you smiled. You grabbed the tray off the table, bending over painfully slow. He peeked up over the paper, raising an eyebrow. You could tell he was trying to hide his smile, but he managed to smirk through it.

“It would be my pleasure sir.” you replied, standing up straight. “Consider it done...Mr.Min.”  You headed to the kitchen without another word before beelining for Yoongi’s room. 

You would have a little surprise waiting for him when he got here...

So about that 'Blue Bloods' episode…

I recently saw something come across my dash regarding Alex Brightman’s guest appearance on the season 11 episode of 'Blue Bloods' (The Common Good) and it reignited the vehement response I had to the episode as a whole. And, since I have this blog now, I figured…fuck it. I need to rant about it.

So that's what this is.

Take what I say with a grain of salt, of course. This show is so clearly not for me and I acknowledge that, but I went to school for and got my degree in creative writing and so much of this episode pissed me off from a narrative perspective and I just really need to talk about it. Putting it under a Read More, though, so you can ignore me if you’d like while I rage to no one in particular. Apologies in advance if you choose to read on. I'm super long-winded. Luckily I don't have pictures and this is more of just a lot of text, so…it could be longer?

So, to begin, I’ll freely admit that I’d never seen an episode of 'Blue Bloods' before this and I’ve not watched it since. I mean, if the rest of the episodes are as badly written as this one, I have no interest to either, but I digress.

Overall my main problem with the episode was how desperately it avoided ‘showing’ over ‘telling’ and, as a visual medium, that’s kind’ve a big deal. We were told pretty much every detail that was presented to us. These people love to hear themselves talk, but do little to actually show things as they happen and I believe a part of that has to do with the focus of the show itself, which is definitely unique to this brand of television. By that, I just mean that it’s not the format I might’ve expected from a show like this. Most cop shows give a lot of focus to the cases, and the intrigue you get with the characters is how they apply their own skills and knowledge to solve them, with the hi-jinks they get into along the way being more of a bonus.

This is not that kind of show.

No, 'Blue Bloods' as a show is way more interested in the cops and their familial ties than it is about the actual job that they’re doing, as shown prominently with the political plot of this episode which was also very focused on the relationship between Tom Selleck’s character and his daughter and the wholly unrelated dinner scene where they talk about lent for 2 and a half minutes and acknowledge nothing else that happened in the episode. This show doesn’t care about the job of being a cop so much as it cares about the cops themselves.

Which would be fine if I gave a shit about cops, but I don’t.

You could argue that the mentor plot is the exception to that, but that entire situation had no real consequences for the cop in question, Jamie, abusing his power. It was entirely focused on how the situation affected him and how it was fine that he’d nudged this kid to get information which ultimately led to the arrest of Dion's brother, and Dion quitting the program. Hell, if Jamie had, in his final scene with Dion, owned up to his abuse of power and left the program — to then urge Dion to rejoin so that he can have that positive outlet in his life without him there — I would’ve been way more okay with it, but Jamie faces no consequences past ‘I don’t wanna see you anymore’, which I was never convinced he actually cared about in the slightest. There's nothing cathartic about it, it's just shitty and left me feeling frustrated at the lack of consequences for the cop.

But hey, you prolly don’t wanna read me going on and on about those parts. You prolly wanna know why I hate it despite Alex’s plot — which I fully expected to love because he’s perfect and gorgeous even when he’s playing a bad guy and he was just so adorable in his lil suit and they let him keep the scruff this time, and he was all handsome an— I need to stop. That could go on forever.

Anyway, to put it simply; it was bad, but I'll definitely explain why.

Now, I don’t think any of the guests in this episode necessarily did a bad job. They still acted well enough for what they were given. I just think they had a shit script that wasn’t interested in that story line. I mentioned at the top of this that this show cared more about telling than showing and that’s a huge problem when you want me to buy a character being the culprit in your murder plot. I need evidence, not anecdotes. Cuz, yeah, by the end of the episode, I didn’t buy for even a second that Ralph did it. And it’s not because he was played by Alex who is just charisma incarnate. I can believe him playing a bad guy. I also watched his 'Law & Order SVU' episode where he scared the shit outta me. He can play a creepy and violent character very well, he just wasn’t convincing to me as a bad guy in this show.

And here’s why!

First of all, he confessed at knife point. That confession would be thrown away IRL. It’s the same problem with using torture to get information. If a person’s life is threatened or they're being harmed in some way, they’ll usually say whatever it takes to get you to stop threatening them/causing them pain. Same deal here. You can’t convince me with a confession like that.

But they didn't seem to be interested in convincing anyone as far as I could tell. They just expected you to believe it because, ‘no, didn’t you hear? He said he did it, so he did it.’ They had so many opportunities to portray this character as the shitbag that we’re told he is. Hell, great way to really implicate him? Give him a female assistant that Donnie Wahlberg and his partner overhear / walk in on him berating for something small like getting him the wrong coffee or something. Then have them talk to that assistant later on and her mention some weird behavior from him on the night of Andrea’s death. It's cliché, but it's more than what we got.

Or you could have him talk to Meghan in a super condescending voice when he approaches her after her interview later on. Or, hell, have him refer to the murder victim in a condescending way even as he talks about her death. But no. The most we get out of him is that he's maybe a little snarky and smug when talking to the cops, but that’s not enough to convince me he’s a bad dude. Frankly, his producer buddy came off as more of an asshole, if I'm being honest. Just cuz (we’re told) his character did shitty things to her in the past doesn’t mean he’s still shitty. Show me he’s still shitty. I wanna see it and I know Alex is capable of a performance like that.

Second, it’s also just…obvious to make him the culprit if we're to believe everything we're told about him. He and Andrea are described as having had beef a little while before the murder with him being abusive mentally and physically. He’s known in the community to be a misogynist and an abusive person overall. He’s the obvious suspect, but if there’s anything that Scooby-Doo taught me, it’s that it’s never the most obvious person. Like, once in a blue moon, sure — but it’s rare.

So yeah, I don’t believe that Ralph did it. You wanna know who I do think did it?

Meghan.

Alright, so bear with me. This'll prolly sound a little conspiratorial, but hear me out:

She had the motive. She confirms in the beginning of the episode that she’s also a female gamer like the victim, but that she was ‘no Andrea’. Andrea was her competition. They were (supposedly) friends and stuck together as female gamers, but Andrea was still competition. With her out of the way, Meghan’s able to rise in the ranks, if even a little bit.

She had a scapegoat in Ralph — again, the obvious suspect given his tumultuous relationship with Andrea sometime prior — and an obvious grudge against men in their community in general. And, don’t get me wrong, men in gaming can and often are hella toxic — I’m not, in any way, denying that — but she got way more emotional when talking about the men in their community than when she was talking about her supposed friend lying dead in the adjoining room.

Speaking of the adjoining room, how did she not hear the murder happening? It couldn’t have been when she was down in the bar, cuz we see Ralph there too in the crappy CCTV footage that was supposed to show him being an asshole, I think (hard to really see). Was she just fucking around somewhere else when it happened? She doesn’t mention as much that I recall (correct me if I'm wrong on that, of course). And Andrea was strangled to death. I would assume that there would’ve been a struggle with that. Are you seriously telling me she wouldn’t hear that in her adjoining hotel room? Those walls aren’t that thick. I find that kinda hard to believe. And that she wouldn’t have found her till the next morning after that, also strikes me as a little odd.

Going off on some previous points, she shows very little grief over her friend’s death. Not just in the intro scene, either, but later on as well. (Side bar: that intro scene itself was very misleading. Don’t lead with a murder plot if it only takes up less than 10 minutes of the overall runtime, kay?) The show did a pretty bad job at indicating the passage of time, but it’s implied that the convention is still happening when Meghan gets the confession out of Ralph, so it would’ve had to have been the same weekend, or possibly the same week (though most conventions I’m aware of don’t last that long — it’s usually a weekend thing, at most Thursday-Sunday — but it could be similar to AGDQ, which seems to last about a week). So, if this is only a day or so later, why would someone who is supposedly grieving over their dead friend do interviews like nothing is wrong? Wouldn't you, like, reschedule or just politely decline and say you need time to process the shock? Like, when we cut to ol’ Donnie Wahlberg calling her after her interview, she doesn’t look upset — as I imagine she might if they’d likely asked her questions about Andrea / her feelings about the murder — and she seems cool as a cucumber when she asks Ralph to go somewhere private. In fact, the look on her face indicates pretty clearly that she’s planning to do something. Specifically, not that she's scared, that she's angry.

Finally, she’s the one who’s attacking Ralph when Donnie Wahlberg and company arrive on the scene. She doesn’t seem to have any marks on her indicating that he made any move to harm her (again, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember seeing her with any marks / cuts), but he’s got a clear, bleeding cut on his face. She attacked him first and was going in for the kill.

Or…was she? Cuz right before Donnie Wahlberg pulls her into that bear hug to stop her from the attack, she doesn’t do a great job of actually trying to kill Ralph. She was close enough that a quick dart at him would’ve probably been enough to at least injure him pretty significantly — maybe even fatally — and would’ve surely led the cops to pull them apart to secure him, but she kinda just hops around a bit and screams before lunging for him. That’s a really weird way to attack when you actually want to kill someone.

But, then again, I don’t necessarily think she did want to kill him. I’m convinced she wanted that confession, but that she also wanted him in jail and was playing the part of the super sad and hysterical victim who was just so overcome with her grief that she wasn’t in her right mind. I think that’s what they were going for in regards to her character in general, but it came across as less sincere in the performance and more like the character was putting on an act. They then cart Ralph off while comforting her — despite the fact that she disobeyed a direct order from police, which should lead to her being detained as well! — and that plot ends.

So, she gets what she wants in the end. A person she despises is now in police custody, her competition is out of the way, and the publicity she might get for bringing that ‘murderer’ to justice might eventually lead to her own career getting a nice boost. I dunno, it just strikes me as her having a great reason to have initiated this over Ralph just being a misogynist who 'was really trying to kill Meghan and just got the wrong girl'.

So yeah, with what the show presented to us, I believe Meghan’s the real killer. Again, if they’d done more to show me that Ralph was a bad dude or that she was more affected by her supposed friend’s death, or if they'd just given that plot more room to breathe to show those things, I might’ve been more inclined to buy the narrative they were pushing but…as is, I don’t believe it.

That’s pretty much all I wanted to say on the matter. I had a lot of issues with the domestic abuse plot line too, but they barely gave that 5 minutes of the overall runtime, so does it really matter in the long run? This is just…my thought process of the only part of the episode I watched for and how disappointing it was for me. And yes, I timed each section of the episode to figure out how much time was given to each of the 4 plots, plus the dinner scene at the end, but not counting the intro theme, and the murder plot got just over 8 minutes, of which Alex was on screen for half of that time. He got less than 5 minutes of screen time. It was definitely worth it just because he’s wonderful and I just like seeing him on these shows, but from a narrative standpoint, it felt pointless.
