5x21 freeform rambling; that old "purity" complex again...

There's something jarring in Pestilence and the camera sort-of implying that Dean is driven by simple rules. Pestilence even steps on his fingers in a way similar to the image of cutting of the fingers off the Four Horsemen.

Dean is always fighting for and against becoming the "pure, good righteous soldier." (Despite the widespread applause of Dean being "a righteous man," for me RIGHTEOUS is also one of those Poughkeepsie terms, and almost never associated with good, not truly.)

Whether or not Dean succeeds in casting off the good soldier label and casting off the soothing feelings of "pure places" depends on his psychological wounds of the moment, really.

And yet...despite AIMING for the cold perfection of angels and Purgatory, he can't help but embody humanity.

Dean is fallible. He's wrong. He's weak.

He's violent and hypocritical at turns throughout the duration of the series, taking hard lines against loved ones: locking them away for their own good/detox, and hard stances against only the demons they choose to trust. Then getting mad when they later do the same to him. (Yes, even Sam in season 8-10; when you get down to it objectively, he's doing to Dean as Dean and Bobby did to him. Helping his family as he learned from his family helping him.)

As audience, we get really mad at Sam, because we just "trust Dean's judgment" more than we do Sam's. Uncomfortably though, the bones of it--that is, the structural components are indeed Sam going through the same motions of "not trusting your monster friend even though he/she saved your life and earned your trust in The War (hi Ruby)" AND "locking you up/detoxing you for your own good." That's just skeletal. IMHO, Dean made his own bed a little bit here, TBH.

In season 15, he even says: "I'm working with a demon. Again. You'd think I'd learn." (It's frustrating to watch him not learn. And yet, he's blown up over Sam and Cas repeatedly for doing the same thing. It's Different (TM) when it's Dean choosing to trust demons. It’s Different when Dean is the one running away/abandoning the Cause.

Dean's demons are lovable and trustworthy (even when they ofc they aren't; we see Crowley kill a crowd of innocent queer lovers as late as season 11, just to make a phone call; we see him let Lucifer out for the sole purpose of having a personal WMD).

Anyway, Dean is messy. He's human. He makes the wrong choices as often as any of the other characters. And he can be righteously self-destructive about it.

The "testing" characters like Pestilence, Lucifer want to tempt our mains to fall into despair and hopelessness.

But some of us keep the hope burning, even when the character has messed up really, really bad and made a bunch of wrong choices. And that's what I like the best!

I feel like Cas embodies this resilience so well!

Dean does keep trying. So does the rest of TFW.

Okay, cool. I can finally talk about the absolute catharsis I felt after fifteen years hoping - dreaming - of this moment because holy SHIT, they did it. They goddamn DID IT.

VLAD GOT HIS REDEMPTION ARC.

Let's talk about it...

By the end of the third season, Vlad Masters had ostracized the entire planet by exposing his true self (why), demanding money and total command of Earth, and completely wailing on Jack Fenton, driving away the only member of that family who unequivocally adored the man where every other Fenton knew him for who he truly was: utterly despicable and incapable of seeing the bigger picture.

Because, after all, he is a villain and that's just what villains do. Villains want power. Villains want to rule the world. There need not be more than that, and in another show, there wouldn't have to be. As far as Hartman was concerned, there is only a binary Good vs. Evil.

You would be hard-pressed to view the Vlad in "Phantom Planet" as the same man who anguished in desperate madness when his perfect clone son died in his arms. That was a Vlad who, by that point, had taken his biggest gamble and lost. I guess one could see his reasoning in season three as a "fuck it all, what even is the point" mode. But while "Eye For an Eye" (tellingly, the last major script helm by former main story writer Steve Marmel... just saying) promised a personal conflict, by the end of the show, he's made it much more external, far greater than what he and Danny's interwoven plot originally started off as.

Vlad is pathetic. Vlad is narcissistic. He is egotistical, entitled; a bitter, arrogant man who lives in his dream castle with all the money and privilege in the world that would leave him content a hundred times over, and it's still not enough.

Money is not Maddie Fenton, the woman he loves. Money is not Jazz, a child that should have been his. Money is not Jack's friendship whom he denies severely, the only part of his life who willingly embraces him. And money is not Danny, who is a half-ghost like him, and by all rights, should have been his son.

No one else could ever understand to the fullest extent of their uniqueness than Vlad and Danny would to each other, and the latter, for the longest time, hated that. Hated the way Vlad talked down to him and manipulated him, hated the whispers into his ears with promises of grand power if he just joined the billionaire's side and become his ward, hated when he caved in just once in front of Vlad's eyes who responded with a smug "See, I know you" reaction. Danny was fortunate to have good moral compasses from his family and friends, but the thing is, though, it's not about the healthy support structure he had, because Vlad had the chance to get some, too. Jack and Maddie loved Danny no matter what he was, and dollars to donuts, they would have for Vlad if the latter had approached them with his problems.

But he chose instead to be bitter and miserable, taking it out on everyone and expecting them to fall into his train of thought. The show knew what he did was wrong, but until season three, never stopped repeating his truest desire: to find love and squash his crushing loneliness.

Hartman couldn't provide a damn on what exactly was Vlad's "destiny" in "Infinite Realm"; it was vague gesturing to excuse his villainy. He was more than happy to abandon the life he's made for himself and the woman he loved in spite of two decades of planning, all on a whim for whatever time period the Infi-map was willing to take him, hoping maybe this one will give him the unconditional worship that he thinks he's deserved (by force, of course.)

Because he's the villain.

And for the longest time, the show ended with the idea that Vlad deserved to be stranded, away from people, because he simply could not help himself. To be fair, there is a lesson in that - some people genuinely DO go so far that there really is nothing more we can do other than stop the problem before they cause any further harm. I'm not denouncing that.

What I AM denouncing is the the narrative plant that's dug its way into the greater plot where an older Vlad in "The Ultimate Enemy", realized what a fool he had been. What he wouldn't give to start all over and be a better person. You don't just give someone a sympathetic goal like "looking for love", constantly provide the necessary stepping stones, and not have it set up for something far more substantial than what we got.

And even then, even if it still ended with Vlad being too far gone, I wonder, should the supposedly original plot arc for season three had been made, would Vlad's fate there been far more appropriate than whatever cartoonish supervillainy he ended up as by the time "Phantom Planet" ended?

I cannot speak for Gabriela Epstein. I cannot say how much Nickelodeon allowed her to tinker with the DP world. All of this is presumptuous speculation on my part, but this entire comic feels like they looked at season three, particularly "Phantom Planet", realized what a travesty that was, had their work cut out for it, and went about to make a post-series finale story that still paid tribute to its ending while wiping it off the map.

Vlad's redemption is the crux.

Within just a few panels, Gabriela Epstein provided an explanation on the why of Vlad's actions circa-season three. The Infi-Map was aimless because Vlad's purpose was aimless. And Vlad's purpose was aimless because his need to be in control was a manifestation of his greatest fear: being alone.

"A Glitch in Time" recontexualizes why Vlad traveled across time in "Infinite Realm." It wasn't a generic bad-guy-wants-to-rule-the-world-through-latest-plot-claptrap, but an act of utter desperation from a man who had since lost the biggest connection to his very being: Danny.

It started with Maddie (someone whom Vlad only interacts once in the comic, but is an acknowledgement of his villainous origin, nonetheless), and it may still end with Danny.

Never, in a million, billion years, have I even thought about another redemption arc... for Dark Danny.

And I am kicking myself for not even considering such an option. I had pegged him so far gone, so far past the breaking point to think otherwise. Dark Danny was suppose to be the outcome of a Danny at his literal worst: a too-late, too-little scenario. Back then, it was a symbol of Danny's rejection of what Vlad expected and desired of him.

But the comic made me sit down and think about the implication of Dark Danny's very existence, that of a man who lost his family and friends ten years ago as a child. Like Vlad, he, too was alone, and had carried a tremendous amount of pain and anguish that his human half just could not bear.

Yeah, they died because of a time loop HE created, but that doesn't erase that he was born from a horrible trauma that he could not properly cope with. And Vlad, try as he might, did not fix it. All he ended up doing was separate a ghost - infamous for their obsessions, and now, as the comic established, a carrier of human emotions - to exist. And Dark Danny carried so much raw emotion that he retaliated very, very violently.

Everyone's respond at that time was to fight him and stuff him in a Fenton Thermos for eternity. I am not saying Danny wasn't justified in fighting his darker self because the dude legitimately caused massive damage and likely murdered a hell of a lot of people, I am just saying Dark Danny is the byproduct of a scared, lonely, traumatized child.

And what does he do? He tries to take what he thinks is his by any means necessary. Vlad got his wish, he got the son he wanted.

And he's facing him now.

And he gets it.

He finally fucking GETS IT.

Which shouldn't have been a surprise because his "The Ultimate Enemy" counterpart got it. He looked at the devil that he created and lingered as a hermit in regret. And now Vlad - Vlad Prime - reacted the same.

Only this time, he can fix it.

I did not anticipate that Vlad's redemption would happen at the same time as Dark Danny's. I didn't expect the two of them to link other than the latter being another number in Vlad's bullshit entitlement count.

I love that it isn't Danny who heals him, but Vlad. It had to be Vlad. In order to own up to his actions, Vlad had to look at the eyes of the boy he was entrusted and corrupted beforehand and apologize for what he put him through. And I don't mean just "The Ultimate Enemy", Vlad is apologizing for everything he's done up to this point.

He (temporarily) sacrifices his body to stabilize Dark Danny who has fucked up the time stream so much that he wouldn't be able to exist otherwise. And only then do the two of them get what they've longed for.

Vlad gets a son.

Dark Danny gets a family.

Holy forking shirt balls.

I have a lot of problems with alternate counterparts sticking around longer than they should in the "main" setting of a show. Usually I'm fine when it's an alternate counterpart demonstrated as someone the hero is trying so hard not to be, because it's compelling to see what could have been under different circumstances. It's another thing when you have another version of the main character running around doing their own thing. Multiverse characters are inherently messy just by existing, but it gets worse when they take away from the uniqueness of the central protagonist.

There's something awkward about two Danny Phantoms living in the same world, and in any other scenario, I would have hated it. But Dark Danny is of a vastly different background brought forth from a long, nuanced, engaging history between him and Vlad.

Danny's central journey - the cusp of the show - has always been the Spider-Man mantra, "great powers = great responsibilities." You are in charge of how you carry the burden of your powers. Vlad has been the one constant always challenging and belittling his selflessness. "A Glitch in Time" had Danny asking himself, what is his purpose? Who is he now that everything has been neatly wrapped up?

Writing anything about who Danny is means Vlad is presented in some way, shape, or form. They are so thoroughly linked to each other, and it's that link that simultaneously serve to push their own individual character arc, and their relationship with each other.

So, Vlad gets a son. Dark Danny gets a family. They get a second chance, and it is up to them to work it out. I have no idea if Vlad got his wealth back. Everything is restored as is, except Danny's secret identity is secured again (which I am 100% fine with except for one notable exception, but that's another topic for another day) and implication that Vlad was just a crummy mayor with no indication the greater public is also aware of his Plasimus mode (which I am also fine with.)

There's a part of me who thinks he should have lost the money and power he's accumulated because he gained them through his vice, but if he's back in his Wisconsin cheese castle, then he can damn well use the money he has to not only benefit the world (charities, improving human lives, funding Fenton Works ;D...), but to raise his son.

Dark Danny is going to have to adjust to the idea that his father is Vlad, something he was already expected to do so when he orphaned himself and moved in with him. But it's Vlad who has to work the most out of the two: as a parental figure - as an adult - he's always had a power over Danny regardless of what timeline they're in. Most of the time, he's abused it heavily.

The second chance Vlad has been given here means he has the ability to provide a safe, healthy environment. It's more than he deserves. He failed with Danny and he absolutely failed with Dani (another can of worms in itself; she's not mentioned in the comic, and I imagine it's because her story would need a comic of her own), he cannot fail with this Danny.

Vlad shouldn't have been given a child at all until there was a guarantee that he could work through his bullshit, but Dark Danny is a special case. He is a kid who needs a home and someone to love him unconditionally, and Vlad needs to learn boundaries while giving selfless love in order to be loved himself.

Clockwork gave Vlad a test, so get studying, dude.

This does not erase how Danny Prime feels about him. He may never want to forgive Vlad, and that's his right. He can acknowledge however, that, in order to help those in need of healing, a door can be opened, even if slightly ajar.

For Vlad, that may just take a bit longer and that's completely understandable.

Vlad can't have the kind of relationship he wants with this Danny, but maybe one day, they can be equals - friends.

Like christ, I think this is the first time Vlad has actually, genuinely asked if Danny was alright.

The comic was already good prior to this, but just knowing - understanding that Vlad was more than "a villain" - meant after fifteen looooong years, we finally see the promises of a brighter future for a man with shitty priorities, but a sympathetic goal.

There’s a particular school of thought I see pop up again in the endless discourse about ATLA and SU which I think of as the Inglorious Basterds School of Media Analysis (also known as the Nonviolence Is Bad Actually school.)

Its tenets are more or less as follows:

It is not only moral to kill evil, it is immoral not to do so.

There are categories of people it is always both acceptable and commendable to kill, and I'll know what those categories are when I see them.

Killing evil is a universal moral duty. There are no religions or philosophies that exempt you from this duty.

If you fail to kill evil, and evil later does harm to others, this is a dereliction of your moral duty and you are culpable for that harm.

Seeking any resolution to a conflict other than killing evil is moral cowardice.

The younger that people come to understand this moral duty, the better. There is no minimum age for children to be taught the duty to kill evil.

Children's media is not only exempt from this rule, it is exemplar of it. Teaching or modeling to children that there is any resolution to conflict other than killing is reprehensible, because it leads them to believe they do not have a moral duty to kill evil.

You can swap out the nouns in this argument: evil, orcs, fascists, pedophiles, colonizers, abusers, narcissists, witches, pick your flavor but the structure of the argument is always the same.

I namechecked ATLA because you still see this argument cycle flaring up again even nearly two decades later: the argument over whether or not Aang had a moral duty to kill Ozai. It's also seen in the "should Batman just kill the Joker" argument which is equally perpetual and inevitable.

I also saw it pop up again recently with regards to The Owl House; some post or another about how they really appreciated that The Owl House was properly modeling to young audiences the necessity of killing evil. (This is certainly not intended criticism of TOH; I don't watch the show and I have no idea what the situation at hand there is. I was reacting more to the wording of the post which clearly considered that TOH was doing things right compared to other media which do not have this story element.)

But Steven Universe definitely got the worst of it, IMHO. Most of the most fervent discourse around it seems to boil down to the following:

Critic: This show sends a bad message about fighting fascism. SU: This show is about dealing with authoritarian style dysfunction in families; it is not a story about fighting fascism. Critic: Well, it should be.

At the heart of it, most of the discourse around SU is centered in a philosophy that believes that there is only one correct kind of story to tell (the story of fighting evil) and only one correct way to tell it (evil should be killed.)

My friend! I’ll tell you honestly, it doesn’t matter if I reblogged a game or not because I am aaaalways ready to talk about Logan. I’m gonna babble, but I also made a powerpoint that’s easier to digest here if you’re interested- it’s … it’s got pictures 💀💀

He’s so funny. He has no business dropping lines like “you can’t buy me, like a cheap sex lady!” or “why does it look like your butt could take a sheet of fresh-baked sheet cookies out of the oven?”

Because he’s willing to challenge Louise, we get to see more from her character. She’s not bored by him, and she can’t easily push him around. He’s not someone she has to hold back with or that we have to deal with a morality lesson every time we visit this character. We get to have chaotic shenanigans and see how far they’ll go to win.

I’m not sure the creators meant to do this, but they made the perfect example of a narcissistic family dynamic with Logan as both the hero child and scapegoat. There are so many details of Cynthia pushing Logan around and Logan’s deep need to defend his space that make his traits kind of click into place for why he’s acting like the teenage dumbass that he is, which isn’t something you would expect from a high school bully. At least I wouldn’t expect it in an episodic sitcom unless it was a “very special episode.”

His family was set up as a foil family for the Belchers, which makes for really good storytelling when you want to explore socioeconomic differences and how it affects the family structure in that the more a family focuses on image the more their values shift from love to wealth.

Logan cried while watching Freaky Friday and analyzed the theme of love and acceptance found through perspective. He was also a POW breaking from torture, but you know… fun for me because it’s added depth either way. It’s interesting too that Louise punches him and he doesn’t retaliate. He operates under an “eye for an eye” philosophy, so did he decide to let that go or did he think he deserved that? I would pay real American dollars to see what the show bible says about him.

There is little doubt that Venus in 8th house makes some of the most intense individuals ever. But what makes them turn ice cold and dark?

what is 'pedestalling'?

the origins of narcissism and in its more severe case, narcissistic personality disorder, have been widely discussed for a long time. while kohut and kernberg presented us a model of a vulnerable self behind a gradiose facade, brummelman updated it with his origins of narcissism in children study - proving that parental and social overvaluation enforces narcissistic traits at young age.

now what does that mean? does giving your child too much praise create a pathological narcissist? what actually entails "overvaluation"?

there is a fine line between compliments and pedestalling which often isnt obvious to the ones who utilize it. simply said, any situation that looks like this can be considered a form of overvaluation:

the most important aspect here is the hierarchy and worth imbalance between the two stickmen. one is put on a pedestal above the other, hence the word pedestalling. it is a comparative measure, ones worth can only exist through the others lack of it and vice versa. the act of pedestalling always creates such a scenario and the vast majority of people have been through such experiences themselves, narcissist or not. in contrast, a genuine compliment directly adresses ones good qualities without comparison.

for better understanding, here is a common example relatable to all creators out there:

compliment: "your art is amazing! i love your usage of colors!" pedestalling: "your art is genius. i could never draw something like this."

notice how the latter is creating a comparative situation between the creator and themselves. by putting themselves below the creator, they also overvalue them - and paint an untouchable image of them. most people find such comments insufferable for good reason, someone with a personality disorder however might be dependent on such hierarchial situations and identifies with them.

while this example was a light and common scenario, as with everything in the world: the dosis makes the poison.

when pedestalling gets harmful

to create a personality disorder, the situation has to escalate to a traumatic degree, often also paired with other emotional issues. such situations may include: uncontrolled childhood fame, being the extension of another family members narcissism, academic or other highly competitive environments, growing up as a gifted child, abusive/stressful familiar or social rivalries, having a disability (especially related to the savant image), and many more. situations like these enforce the development of narcissistic traits/make one more likely to develop a personality disorder, but of course dont guarantee it.

all of these share the same key aspect: being put on a pedestal. experiencing situations like these over and over again to the point of them shaping all of your interactions with others and in crucial developmental phases can easily lead you down the pathological road. children who get overvalued by their environment develop their self esteem around being superior to their peers instead of a healthy perspective that acknowledges their and others strengths and weaknesses in an equal manner.

how to avoid casual pedestalling

the act of overvaluing someone can have a lot of reasons. this can range from forms of ableism, over systematic competitive structures, to idealization and projection, and on and on. explaining all that goes beyond the scope, so i will get back to my inital example above.

"your art is genius. i could never draw something like this."

pedestalling other people is often a defense mechanism to protect ones self esteem. it comes from a place of low self worth: the others achievements seem superior, ungraspable to oneself. it is a depressive-resignative perspective to a percieved threat and the ensuing feelings of insecurity and jealousy. by putting the other on a pedestal and painting them as "not one of their own" (calling them a genius, savant, naturally talented or similar terms referring to an intrinsic otherness), they are exiled from competition and no longer serve as a threat. additionally the comment may act as a form of comfort-seeking. if you deal with a low self worth it is important to recognize such defenses in yourself to not accidentally harm others on the go.

on the flipside, its important for the pedestalled to draw boundaries around such behavior and to not identify with the others defenses too much. while getting painted as intrinsically superior is flattering, there is still an alienating message underneath. forced hierarchial situations like these can be adressed with the other and put to a halt.

outlook and social taboo

many concepts surrounding narcissism (pathological or not) are still considered a social taboo. addressing narcissistic traits in yourself and with others can be seen as arrogant, entitled or whiny. they are however a normal part of human psychology and embed in everyones brains and behavior to a different degree. if you have suffered under overvaluation, its worthy to be acknowledged and treated much like every other issue.

The Dangers of LinkedIn and How to Best Navigate this Toxic Platform:

I've been thinking of starting a post series for young professionals to discuss the struggles of life after/in-between school and the corporate world and how to better navigate through adulthood. This series is titled Surviving Our 20s.

In this first post, I will do a small rant followed by what my takeaway is in regards to LinkedIn.

LinkedIn doesn't get enough flack for how toxic and pathetic of a platform it is. So let's talk about it.

It is common to hear people speak of how bad Instagram is for our mental health thanks to the exposure to others' lifestyle highlights reals. But the catch is that for the vast majority of us, choosing to be active on Instagram is not de facto mandatory and we can carefully curate what sort of content creators we choose to follow. LinkedIn, on the other hand, has become crucial for people to succeed in their professional lives as a means of acquiring jobs and documenting their professional history and achievements.

LinkedIn is, in my opinion, one of the most damaging social media platforms for people's mental sanity. It's nothing but a never-ending circle-jerk of performative wokeness and "humble" brags designed to boost the egos of already privileged narcissists. LinkedIn is used by people who come from backgrounds of wealth (but not necessarily old money types) or who have very strong family support/structures that others lack to brag about their "accomplishments" - that they would've otherwise not been able to acquire had they been born in different circumstances - in a tone-deaf manner. This is in lieu of expecting to receive accolades from strangers online to boost their already gigantic egos.

Corporations with very toxic workplace cultures utilize superficially crafted "highlights" to paint a favorable picture that vastly differs from the way in which they treat their employees in day-to-day life. HR people creating false stories and scenarios to paint themselves as the saviors of the little privileged, often times copying and pasting the same sob stories expecting others won't catch them in the act, despite not doing anything meaningful in their real life to help those truly in need.

PR is everything, and this manufactured culture of false pretend is particularly harmful because it makes marginalized groups and people who have to work harder to reach similar levels of success feel inadequate and often not worthy of it by virtue of comparison with those who pretend to be doing better than them.

One of the most bizarre things I've seen on LinkedIn is "influencers" on that platform taking advantage of the discomfort of people, especially young people in the workforce, to say all the things they want to hear in an attempt to provide a service to "help them", but only if they buy their $500 course to land a job that is not guaranteed. It's incredibly predatory.

In addition to all the issues with corporate flexing culture and fake PR, LinkedIn exposes individuals to breaches in their privacy by displaying their educational and work history to the world to see. This puts victims of harassment at risk because others can easily track them down, and it makes our private lives and information readily available to anyone who wishes to access it. IMO, this is worse than the information someone may be able to gather from Instagram and other social media platforms, as sensitive details from our personal and professional lives are not required to be shared.

If LinkedIn is a platform that you must use for professional advancements, I recommend setting digital boundaries on it like you would any other social media platform. Here are some tips that I've integrated for a healthier usage of the platform:

Only use the platform on desktop and with Google Chrome specifically, this is because you can find feed-blocking extensions that will effectively hide the news feed on the page each time you log on, so you won't have to be exposed to the cringefest that is posted there and that may lead you down a path of unnecessary comparisons and feelings of inadequacy.

Delete the app from your phone and only reinstall it if you attend networking events where connecting with important people may be relevant, then delete it again.

Keep your professional and educational background as private as possible. Make sure you have a skeleton of the timeline of positions and degrees you've completed but try not to go into details as to what you did; that is something that should be left for your resume that only select people will have access to.

Set your privacy settings to keep your photo and other information inaccessible to people who do not have an account on the platform.

Be mindful of the posts you interact with. Something as simple as liking a comment will show on your activity and will display to your network's feed. So only interact with the content you'd want others to relate you with and do not engage in arguments or other kinds of unhinged behavior with other people.

LinkedIn is a necessary evil for many of us, and in my opinion, the most toxic social media platform there is. But with proper use and boundary setting, we can derive good benefits out of it and minimize potential risks to our safety and mental health.

Path of Tenebris Luna

This is the path I’ve carefully cultivated over my long 15 years as a witch. It’s ultimately derived from concepts of chaos magick, Satanism, and Omnistic views. To sum it up simply, it’s a path that focus on the concept of perspective being the source of beliefs and acknowledges we don’t know nor are we physically capable of understanding the full truth of the universe and the metaphysical realms. What we do see are merely fractions that enlighten us to believe our own personal truths. With this, personal practice and self care are always put first and practitioners are encouraged to accept there own natures regardless of what society may say about their beliefs. The concepts this path indulges in are designed to assist us in the self discovery of who we are as individuals and what our personal nature really is. We don’t see this as being narcissistic. On the contrary, understanding the self is needed to understand the world. If you don’t help yourself along the way you can’t help others in turn.

⚜️Behind The Name⚜️

Tenebris (ten-UH-bray) is the Latin word for dark and Luna is Latin for moon. Translated it means “The Path of Dark Moon.” The Symbolism here is in association with the dark moon itself. The dark or new moon is associated with the unseen and therefore the metaphysical realm. It echoes our awareness of what we perceive rather than what we see and it’s in that perception we find our true nature and therefore our truest selves.

⚜️ Religious Views ⚜️

The beliefs that make up this path are in no way a religious order but rather a list of concepts that can be applied to any personal structure of theology or way of life without the need for religious intervention. That means we take these concepts and use them to understand the world around us both magical and mundane in the way that best fits our own unique perspectives. What conclusions an individual reaches related to religious matters is of there own making. As long as the beliefs don’t cause unnecessary harm or destruction to any persons, places, cultures, or differing view points we believe in practicing what you feel called to.

⚜️ Reality ⚜️

As crazy as it may seem, there are 2 realities. The physical reality and the perceived reality. The physical reality is what exists all around us and the perceived reality is our perspective of that world and how it works. These realities exist simultaneously together and have the ability to effect one another. As example we can look at the phantom pregnancy. It happens when someone believes they are pregnant so much that the body begins to exhibit symptoms of that pregnancy, morning sickness, cravings, even a swollen belly. And this strange behavior doesn’t just extend to pregnancy. Many phantom illness have been documented. This just proves the point that perception can effect the physical reality.

Now, you mustn’t be fooled here. Perception doesn’t always manifest exactly what is, only what we want. The fact of the matter is that although the body looks pregnant there is no baby and therein we can conclude that our perspective is only part of the equation. Both realities are needed to properly navigate who we are in this universe. The want to be pregnant can lead to the possibility of actual pregnancy but only if we take the actual steps to do so and accept that what our minds may tells us won’t always be correct. It’s important to sift through the mess perspective reality can bring and find the balance between the two.

⚜️ Good & Evil ⚜️

Nothing in this world is completely one or the other. Everything is made up neutral energy that personal perspective dictates is good or bad to the individual. For instance A fox hunting a rabbit. As far as the rabbit is concerned the fox is an evil being trying to take its life but to the fox it’s actions are a good thing. The fox needs to eat and/or feed it’s family. The change in perspective allows for different views on the subject at hand.

Now, this isn’t an excuse to do whatever you want or escape consequences. Whatever action we make will always have a reaction. This concept is merely an acknowledgment that one’s own perception is key to their own views and thus how they react to the world around them. An individual in the rabbits position has every right to feel the way they do and act accordingly. Just because we make a choice doesn’t mean it’s going to be accepted as the right one by everyone else. Opposing perspectives will always see things differently. That’s why it’s important to look at all perspectives, as so often a single view can have a way of blinding us to something only the other view can see.

This concept also brings into the scope what we view as positive and negative traits in people. Even though we all are made up of both perfections and flaws, sometimes the views on what those flaws are, outweigh the views of their positives. This is why certain people in history can be seen as inherently evil. They may have definitely had some good traits to them but they were minuscule when compared to the lengthy list of harm and destruction the individual caused.

Finally, with all this understood it should go without saying that this path heavily frowns upon and 100% discourages mistreatment because of race, religion, culture, sexuality, biological sex, gender, or physical and mental disabilities. Not all differences are harmful or destructive just because your viewpoint sees it that way.

⚜️ Balance ⚜️

Everything in existence exists in a balance. Darkness and light, chaos and order, even life and death. You simply can’t have one without the other. For death to cease to exist so then by default would life. Each needs and compliments the other. These opposites are imperative to existence and can’t be undone. We can’t know happiness until we know sorrow. We can’t understand pleasure until we experience pain. All of nature keeps this understanding without fault.

⚜️ Comprehension ⚜️

Mortal brains are severely limited things. They can’t perceive the metaphysical in its entirety, their general makeup simply doesn’t allow it. However our soul/spirit/consciousness are limitless things trapped within that limited space and while they can project in the astral, see and experience things we can’t with physical eyes they as well are still within those limited boundaries. Only when our bodies die and our souls/spirits/consciousness are released do we become unbound by what once was limited and truly become the limitless we were meant to be. Only then can our perspective truly perceive all that is for what it is. Until then, we can only glimpse a fraction of what’s really there and from this fraction our personal perspectives draw all kinds of conclusions. You see, nobody knows the full truth only bits and pieces of it.

⚜️ Belief Itself ⚜️

Belief is the tool to all magick. It’s the fuel that both creates and destroys. Without it magick becomes a vehicle without the gas. But understand, belief is not the only step to be taken on our paths, it’s merely the first. The beginning to which we plan our entire journey. Belief manifests for us the necessities to make ourselves, and our actions bring those beliefs to life. Such concepts as deity, spell craft, the correspondences for magickal items, and the empowerment of symbols and stories have power only because we believe them to. That’s why many people from various cultures and religions find evidence of their beliefs working for them but not for others.

⚜️ Adaptation ⚜️

Adapting is a perfectly normal part of nature. You will not find any belief or culture that has not undergone growth through the years. This growth means adapting and readapting in accordance with societal progressions, personal development, and earthly changes. However, there is still a right and a wrong way to go about it. You should always know the history of what your adapting, it’s impact on the world, the people that it came from, and the proper respect it deserves. There’s a big difference between appropriation and appreciation that only proper research and self analysis will tell you.

You mix it all = Someone that is quite extrovert and likes to talk with people but gets naive too easily. Has always their head on the clouds, they share their dreams and ambitious with their world, like to show their view on things, but again don't have a grasp in reality.
