Kili Durin x f!human!reader
Word Count: 1.5k
AN: OMG! This has definitely been my favorite to write so far. I love Kili with my whole heart and that for sure came out while I was writing. I really want to see about making this a longer series once October ends, if anyone wants to see that leave a comment and let me know.

The culture of the dwarves is much like their treasure, kept under lock and key. Histories, customs, and traditions all are played very close to the chest of the stubborn race. The only beings who are let in on the secret are those lucky enough to be a fated match.
There are different names for these matches in every culture, Soulmates, true loves, twin flames. The dwarves called them Ones. To find your One was said to be the best day of your life. At least that is what Kili thought, he wouldn’t know though. He hadn’t met his yet.
His uncle’s one had been the Hobbit, Bilibo took longer to fall than Thorin but fell just as hard if not harder than the dwarf. The two were very much in love, it was sickening. His mother’s One had been his father, and he doesn’t remember much about their time together. Fee’s One was a lovely lass that had come from the Blue Mountains to try and establish herself as a seamstress under the mountain.
All of them had told him how wonderful finding their Ones was, even Thorin whose One was not of the race of Dwarf and thusly did not feel the same pull that he had. Thorin had to actually make Bilbo fall in love with him, which amused Kili to no end because of how much their two personalities seemed to clash.
Kili hates spending time under the mountain now, he loves Erebor and takes pride in the fact that he was one of the brave few who had reconquered it, but everywhere he looked he saw people being happy with something he did not have.
The feeling went much deeper than those childhood squabbles he had had with Fili when the two pebbles would play together. Jealousy over toys was easily remedied, the ache that had recently taken up residence in Kili’s heart was much more difficult to push aside or fix.
So he had taken to going for walks. He had volunteered himself too many times to be the point of contact for the King of Dale. He had told Thorin it was because he wanted to prove that he could be trusted with matters of diplomacy. He might not be next in line, but he was still a prince and could take care of these things. It was on one of these trips to Dale that Kili met the very person who would change his life.
She was of the race of men and seemed to work in one of the few taverns that housed the nightlife of the town. Kili was in a sort of informal meeting with Bard, his son Bain, and the Captain of the Guard. They were discussing a deal between the two kingdoms where Erebor would provide the army of Dale with iron-forged armor and weapons and in turn, Dale would pledge their allegiance to the kingdom under the mountain in any future battle. Kili couldn’t help but find the humor in the reversal of roles as if the company had not asked and pledged the same things five years ago. This clause was only one of the facets that made up the current peace treaty in the works. It was Kili’s idea to have the meeting in a less tense and stuffy room than they were previously held in.
“Everybody has to eat Bard, why don’t we eat and talk at the same time? I’m sure we’d all be much more comfortable.” Bard had agreed at the behest of Bain who had laughed and reminded his father of the last time he had had a proper meal. After that, the men had embarked towards Bard’s favorite tavern. And judging by the way he had jovially called out to the man behind the bar, he was at least acquainted with the people who worked there.
Their waitress was a beautiful woman, who had skills like Kili had never seen, and he had been in a lot of taverns. She was able to carry three trays of piping hot food at the same time and at one point he had even seen her stack and move at least twelve pint glasses to a rowdier table towards the back of the establishment. And she did all this with the most beautiful smile he had ever seen.
If only he would actually get to talk to her. The tavern was busy and she seemed to be one of the only other people working besides the man behind the bar and whoever was preparing the food to be served. She was never in the same place for a very long time. After she had gotten their initial order she had placed their pints down and immediately zipped off to fulfill the next request.
Without the ability to actually talk to her, Kili had to settle for second-hand knowledge. “So what can you tell me about the woman who served us?” Kili asked nobody in particular.
“Why, do you fancy her?” Came Bain’s reply.
“No, but any woman that can carry that much and move that fast without wasting a drop is certainly one I want to get to know.”
“Her name is y/n, She’s apprenticed to Brant, the man who owns this tavern. She arrived in Dale a year or two ago. I think she's from Bree but she's settled here. I think she has an arrangement with him, when he finally retires the place will be hers.” Bard had explained, throwing a somewhat scolding glance at his son. Kili might be young and more carefree than his uncle but he is still a prince and Bard did not wish to offend him.
“Interesting, any idea why she left Bree? It’s quite a long journey to take on your own.” Kili asked.
“Why don’t you ask her?” A third, much more feminine voice replied. Kili who had not seen her make her way over to their table, had nearly jumped out of his skin. The other men tried and failed to hide their amusement at his predicament. “After all, I’m sure she’d be willing to tell you as long as she didn’t catch you talking about her when she wasn’t around.” She had said all of this with a smile spread across her face and delight in her voice. Kili wasn’t really sure how she felt about his impolite inquiries, but she hadn't chased him out of the establishment with a broom yet, so he thought he was okay.
“I’ve gotten everyone else settled and thought I’d come visit the King, how are you this evening King Bard?” her attention was firmly placed on the King of Dale now, and Kili longed for her piercing gaze to once again land on him.
“I’ve told you, it’s just Bard, all of this King nonsense will just go to my head,”
“Of course King Bard.” She smirked and turned towards the rest of the men. “Anything else I can get you, gentlemen?” With a firm nod at their newest order, she spun and headed back towards the bar.
“I think I’m in love.” Kili had said under his breath.
“I think it’ll take you much more than that to win her over.” Bain had replied, hearing Kili’s self-confession. “Every time we’re in here I see her turn down men. Granted, most of them are usually drunkards but the principle is all the same.”
Kili was certain that the fluttering in his chest and the feeling of light-headedness had to mean something. And given that both the feelings had started right after she had spoken to him, he was pretty sure he knew what it was.
“Here you are boys, four more pints and a basket of bread, on the house.” She had placed the basket of bread and little bowls of butter and honey on the table. When she pulled her hand away it bumped into Kili and sent a wave of shocks all the way up his arm.

plot: kili's the one who comforts you when you freak out about your outfit at fili's coronation
character: kili x plus size female reader
part of my Plus Size Reader x Character series!
Your hands hadn't stopped fidgeting with the sleeves of the deep blue dress that you'd been gifted by the Elves. It was beautiful, a royal blue silk that had such intricate gold embellishments sewn in along each hem and on the bodice. It was gorgeous and it fit like a glove but you weren't happy with the way it looked on you.
As you looked in the mirror, tugging the fabric that lay over your stomach, you couldn't help but feel self-conscious as you stared at your reflection. You'd been around the Dwarves and been part of the Company for so long that you'd gotten rather used to hiding your plump Dwarven figure under thick furs and leathers so now that you were here, getting dressed for Fili's King Coronation, it felt alien to be dressing this way.
It was no secret that you were fat; the Company knew it and accepted it but it made you feel vulnerable showing your body this much (and you weren't really showing your body at all as the Elven dress was very modest and covered all but your neck and hands). It was more the fact that your stomach was more prominently highlighted than you were used to.
A knock at the door interrupted your thoughts, "Lady (y/n)?" It was that voice you knew all too well. It belonged to that of your friend, Kili. Kili was something special. He saw you, truly saw you for everything you were and everything you wanted to be, "I was told that you're unsure about your outfit? Can I come in?"
With a sigh, you walked to the door and opened it, "Don't laugh at me please."
But Kili did no such thing.
His jaw dropped seeing you in the dress, "Mahal," he breathed out, "you look..." He almost couldn't find the words, "breath-taking."
Your cheeks burned as you turned to the mirror and your eyes immediately went straight to your stomach, "I look so big," you groaned, completely by passing Kili's compliment to pick at the loose thread which was your insecurity. Kili frowned, "I just look awful. It's too tight around my stomach, it's awful. I look hideous."
"(y/n)," Kili interrupts, taking a gentle hold of your arm and turning you away from the mirror, "Why do you say such nonsense? You look divine; the way the dress holds onto you is perfection, you look more beautiful than anyone or anything I've ever seen before. You look truly lovely."
You blinked, the words that he was saying making you pause and frown at him in disbelief, "What do you mean, Kili?"
Kili scoffed a slight laugh, "Mahal, (y/n), do you not see the way in which I look at you? You are unlike anyone I've ever met and even covered in mud, wearing furs and soaked to the bone, you remain the most beautiful woman I have ever known." He means it. You can tell how sincere he is by the way his eyes bore into yours, "To me, it is disgusting the way you talk about yourself. Your stomach, yes I can see it, and I love it. I'd love you no matter what size, big or small. You remain the most incredible person to me and I adore you." Kili hadn't really meant to confess his feelings for you moments before his older brother gets crowned King but he needed you to know just how important you are to him, "To me, you could look like the troll we met on our travels and I would still love and adore you; I would worship the ground you walk on. Your weight does not make you any less worthy or deserving of love, (y/n). You are deserving; you are worthy."
Truly, you were touched. With watering eyes and a mouth that could form no words, all you could do was stare at Kili and hope that he understood how appreciative you were in this moment. Kili stepped towards you, "I hadn't wanted to tell you this way, I wanted it to be after Fili was crowned King and when we could have more time but you needed to know."
"You mean all that?" It was all you could ask. You needed to know that he was serious.
Kili nodded and moved his hand to his heart, "Truly, with all my heart." You moved closer to Kili, chests centimetres from each other. You looked up at him and slowly, his head began to move down-
Knock, knock!
"(y/n)? Is my brother in there? I need him." It was Fili.
You and Kili jump apart, cheeks burning and hearts racing, "Uh, yes, Fi. I'm here!" Kili calls back and Fili tells him to hurry his arse up.
Kili looks to you, "Now, will you come and help Fili? He needs our support today."
You nod, "Yeah, yeah I will. We'll continue this later, yeah?"
Kili smiles bashfully, "I'd like that." He leaves first and you take a moment to look back to the mirror at your reflection.
"Worthy," you whisper pulling the dress down slightly before smiling and leaving your chambers to see the boys.

Hello everyone! I’m planning on posting mainly plus size/lgbt reader insert imagines and one shots from multiple fandoms here soon. For now though, I wanted to share with you my ongoing Hobbit fanfiction. The reader is a mermaid and joins the Company on their quest to take back the city of Erebor. I imagine the reader to be plus size, but I don’t mention weight or physical appearance much so anyone can read it. You can find it on Wattpad and Archive of Our Own. Thank you!

Wonderland: Kili x Reader Chap. 3
Tumblr media
MASTERLIST
Kili x Reader
Slight Legolas x Reader
----
Y/n was sitting between Gandalf and Bilbo, and opposite her was Thorin, with Lord Elrond at the head.
Even though she had seen Lord Elrond on the screen, it did not compare to what sitting in his presence was like - he was as noble and as fair in face as an elf-lord, as strong as a warrior, as wise as a wizard, as venerable as a king of dwarves, and as kind as summer. He was almost as warm and welcoming as Gandalf was.
On the next table over, sat the rest of the company, who were trying to eavesdrop on the conversation. Y/n managed to briefly greet each member of the Company (Bombur gave her a slice of cheese as a ‘hello’ and Kili knocked over a chair whilst bowing), but she was promptly ushered to sit by Lord Elrond and Thorin.
“Tell me, Lady Y/n, what is your weapon of choice? Axe or sword?” Thorin asked, making Y/n shuffle in her seat.
For a large part of the meal, Thorin had been grilling her with questions - much to the dismay of Gandalf. Gandalf had only explained a small amount of Y/n’s situation to the dwarves, though he hadn’t gone into depth. Though at this point, Y/n was still trying to figure out if this was all real.
“I, um...in my world we don’t use weapons like that anymore,” Y/n said and awkwardly chased a piece of carrot on her plate with her fork. She didn’t dare meet Thorin’s judging eyes.
“The wild is no place for gentlefolk who cannot fend or fight for themselves, Gandalf,” Thorin said, boring his eyes into Y/n.
A silence fell upon the table as everyone stared at Y/n. Thorin did have a point - she couldn’t fight or fend for herself. She would be a burden on the group.
For the first time the whole evening, Bilbo piped up.
“I can’t fight or survive out in the wilderness, yet you gave me a chance. And as Lady Y/n is not from this world, she may possess other skills that we have not yet discovered.” Bilbo said, folding his arms in an attempt to look stern. "Plus, I would like a companion more like myself."
“I must agree with Master Bilbo here, Thorin. Y/n has ended up in this land with no idea or explanation of how. There must be a reason for that, so I must ask that you reconsider. As Bilbo just said, she could possess helpful skills.” Gandalf said, placing a hand on Y/n’s shoulder.
Y/n watched apprehensively as Thorin pondered over Gandalf’s and Bilbo’s words with a rather menacing expression. What was she going to do if she wasn’t accepted into the Company? Would Gandalf just leave her in Rivendell to live out her human years amongst the elves?
Or would Elrond kick her out and make her fend for herself in the wild? Would she ever get to see her sister again? But then again, was this even real?
“Alright. She may join us.” Thorin said and Y/n ‘s shoulders instantly relaxed. “But I will not be responsible for your fate, do you understand, Y/n?”
“Yes, I understand. I’ll try to help as much as I can.” Y/n said though she could see that Thorin was still not entirely convinced.
“Well, that’s sorted then,” Gandalf said brightly, turning to face the dwarves on the other table. “Lady Y/n has now become the newest member of the Company!”
---
When Y/n had gotten back to her room, she had found her bag sitting on her bed. Her clothes were mended and lay in a neat pile beside her bag, which she found to be filled with food and provisions - light to carry but strong to bring her over the mountain passes she was soon to endure.
The elves must have packed for her. Just as she was going to take a look at the bookshelf beside her bed, she noticed a little wooden figure sitting on her nightstand.
It was her Loki sculpture.
“Loki likes to create chaos. Make sure he doesn't pull you into one of his plans of mischief.”
Floki’s words rang through her head as she picked the tiny pocket-sized God up and turned it over to inspect it.
Did this statue have something to do with her ending up in Middle-Earth? No, it couldn’t have, it was probably just a coincidence that she bought it on the same night she woke up there. Right?  And as another thought, where did that ring disappear to
Y/n placed the Loki sculpture down and rummaged through her belongings for the ring, but it was nowhere to be found. Frowning, Y/n placed her bag on the ground and lay down on her bed. For some reason, she couldn’t get the thought of the ring out of her head.
--
It was nearing nine o’clock when a knock sounded on Y/n’s door. Y/n wondered who it could be because the dwarves were feasting down at the terrace on the food that they had stolen from the kitchens. She opened the door, revealing the grey wizard.
“Good evening, Lady Y/n,” Gandalf said. “I hope I am not disturbing you?”
“You’re not disturbing me, don’t worry. Is there something I can help you with?” Y/n asked.
“As a matter of fact, there is something you can help me with. As we have gone over, you may possess skills that we do not know about yet.” Gandalf said, motioning his hand for Y/n to follow him before walking away.
Y/n stood there for a moment, wondering what on earth she could help him with before closing the door and hurrying down immaculately carved stone steps to catch up to him.
“And what do you think I can help with?” Y/n asked, finding it difficult to keep up with the wizards' long strides.
“Thorin gave the map to the Lonely Mountain to Lord Elrond to read. Only, Lord Elrond has long forgotten the Ancient Dwarvish language. I want you to have a look to see if you can understand it.” Gandalf said after a long while of striding through the never-ending hallways of Elrond's house.
“Ancient Dwarvish? Gandalf, I can only speak English!” Y/n said, panicking. How did he expect her to read a language not even Lord Elrond could understand? “And a little Icelandic, but not Ancient Dwarvish.”
Despite her numerous protests, Gandalf did not reply. He only led her up a staircase and through a set of stone doors that opened up into the night.
Y/n was standing in an opening of a cave mouth that looked out into the starry night. A waterfall gushed from the opening and crashed into the valley that lay hundreds of miles below them. Y/n’s stomach dropped as she looked over the sheer edge that plummeted down into the dark lands below.
“Did I ever tell you that I am not good with heights?” Y/n said to Gandalf, who only laughed and ushered her towards Lord Elrond, Thorin and Balin, who were huddled over the map that lay on a stone slab under the bright moonlight.
“Ah, Gandalf and Lady Y/n,” Lord Elrond said, looking up from the map. Thorin’s frown only deepened when his eyes landed on Y/n, but Balin gave her a friendly smile.
“Have you gotten any further with the map?” Gandalf asked. Y/n only prayed that Elrond had managed to read the contents of the map. Otherwise, she would have to disappoint Thorin even further by not being able to read Ancient Dwarvish - that she was certain of.
“Only that it has been written in moon runes,” Elrond said, then he noticed Y/n’s confusion. “It means you can only read the runes under the same light and season of the same moon they were written under. Though I can no longer read ancient dwarvish.”
“That is exactly why I brought Lady Y/n,” Gandalf said, pushing Y/n forward against her will.
“You failed to mention that you understand Ancient Dwarvish runes,” Thorin said with a hint of disdain in his voice.
“I can’t, but Gandalf wants me to-”
“I want her to try to read the map. She has been brought to this world for a reason, so she may know more than she thinks.” Gandalf cut in,  practically hauling Y/n over to the map at that point.
“I don’t see any harm in the lassie giving it a go,” Balin said, giving Y/n a friendly pat.
“Okay, but don’t be disappointed when I can’t read it,” Y/n muttered and leaned over the map. There was black ink etched into the fabric, forming the swells of hills and the jagged points of mountains.
In the centre, there was a solitary point labelled ‘The Lonely Mountain’ and it had a red dragon sketched above it. Y/n’s eyes trailed down to the scribbles of glowing blue moon runes at the bottom of the page. At first, they seemed like a random assortment of lines and dashes, but the closer Y/n inspected, the more they made sense.
“Hold on a moment!” Y/n said and leaned closer. “This looks like Old Norse, which is very similar to Icelandic.”
“Can you read it?” Thorin stepped forward with a desperate look in his eye. Y/n bit her lip and tried to recall what her sister had taught her.
“I’ll try.” Y/n traced her finger over the map, formulating the ancient runes into words as she went. “Stand by the... grey stone when the Thrush knocks, in the setting sun... of the last light of...Durin's Day...the light shines upon the...keyhole.”
Y/n came to a stop, not only amazing herself,  but the others around her. Why on earth was Ancient Dwarvish the same as Old Norse?
"That is very curious that you can read the map, Y/n," Gandalf said with a twinkle in his bright blue eyes.
"Indeed, it is remarkable that you can read Ancient Dwarvish." Lord Elrond said, but Bilbo looked rather confused.
"What's Durin's Day?" The Hobbit asked.
"It is a mark on the Dwarvish calendar. It is when the last moon of Autumn and the first sun of Winter appear in the sky at the exact same time." Balin said, but Thorin shook his head.
"This is old news." Thorin muttered, snatching the map from Y/n's hands. "Autumn is already passing."
"We still have time. But we have to be in exactly the right place at exactly the right time." Balin said.
"So, you are trying to reclaim Erebor." Lord Elrond said with a stony face.
"What of it?" Thorin growled, scowling at the elf.
"There are some who would advise against it." Elrond then turned to Gandalf. "The white council has arrived to discuss some...matters. We shouldn't keep them waiting."
"Well, alright," Gandalf said, looking slightly perturbed that the White Council were present in Rivendell, though Y/n supposed he thought he could get away with sneaking a horde of dwarves across the country without getting caught. But then again, they were probably going to discuss her situation as well.
"I think it's time that Lady Y/n met the rest of the Company properly. We will look after her, Gandalf." Balin said, taking Y/n by the arm, much to the disapproval of Thorin. Y/n couldn't help but like Balin - he reminded her of her grandpa back home.
---
Y/n could hear the faint cries of laughter from the dwarves as Balin led her to their sleeping area. Thorin had decided to have a look around Rivendell, though Y/n suspected that he just wanted to get away from her.
"Don't worry lassie, he will warm up to you eventually. He is just protective of his friends and family." Balin said gently, watching the expression on Y/n's face.
"Yeah, I hope so," Y/n replied, just as Balin opened the door to a large room with a crackling fire and many hungry dwarves and one hobbit who were feasting on stolen food.
"Ah! We get to meet the girl properly at last!" Bofur clapped his hands and before long, the dwarves descended on Y/n with an avalanche of questions.
"Where are you from?"
"How did you get here?
"Do you have any magic powers?"
"Do you have any more food?"
Despite the utter chaos and swarm of questions, Balin managed to bring some order to the excitable group.
"Okay, okay, don't bombard the poor girl. At least give her a seat first," Balin said, and instantly all the dwarves began motioning for Y/n to sit beside them.
To say she was overwhelmed would be an understatement - no one had ever found her that interesting before. She scanned the room and decided to take a seat next to Kili, a young and handsome dwarf who was sitting beside the fire. Kili looked rather triumphant because Y/n chose to sit beside him.
"Gandalf said that you were not from this world. Is that true?" Gloin, a fiery-haired dwarf asked.
"Yeah...I am from a place called Earth. It's very different from here." Y/n said, watching as they munched on their food and listened to her speak.
"How did you get here?" Bilbo asked, passing Y/n a bowl of chicken soup, which she greatly thanked him for - the elvish diet of lettuce leaves did nothing to fight off her horrendous hunger pangs.
"I'm not entirely sure. I went for a walk,  got lured into a cave and then boom, I woke up here with absolutely no explanation." Y/n said.
"That's very odd," Bofur said.
"Aye! Well, welcome to the Company of Thorin Oakenshield anyway!" Fili said with a cheer. Though she had only given very little detail, the dwarves seemed content with her answers and went back to whatever they were doing before she arrived.
Well, all except one. Kili was still fascinated by Y/n's tale and wanted to know more.
"What is your world like, Y/n?" Kili asked, making Y/n turn to face him. Though she was relieved that the others had turned their attention away from her, a new nervousness took over because Kili had his complete attention on her.
"Well, there is no magic, that is for sure. No wizards, hobbits, dwarves or elves, only humans." Y/n said, feeling her cheeks begin to burn as he stared at her intently with those dark eyes.
"How strange. Do you have a family?" He asked.
"Yeah, actually. I have my sister Molly, my mum and my dad." Y/n said with a fond smile. She had already begun to miss them terribly. She wondered if they were looking for her - calling a search party perhaps.
"I'm sure you will see them again." Kill said, as if he were reading Y/n's thoughts. "But in the meantime, I sure would like to learn more about your world."
"I'd be happy to tell you about it," Y/n said, and couldn't help but share Kili's goofy smile.
Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all...

You should’ve known better. Better than to just watch Coraline in TV during a heavy rain.
You were in your house alone, sick with cold for past few days, and now really, really scared. It was a bad idea to watch that movie. You hated anything horror-related, and you didn’t even counted that time when you thought that some boyfriend or even any of your friends would come handy right now.
A sharp lightning crossed the sky and heavy thunder shaked you a bit. You screamed and jumped up.
Maybe I should turn the TV off. I’ve had enough, you thought.
But you knew you wouldn’t be able to fall asleep.
You got up when an add break was there, turned on a few other lights, so you would find your way to kitchen, and took your mug with you to make another tea.
When your water was boiling, you were about to fill that mug with teabag, but a weird noise upstairs cought your attention. You shook it off when it stopped.
It was maybe some wind.
You looked outside and noticed that it almost stopped raining. You sighed by relief and opened your back doors and stepped out in your backyard.
It wasn’t too long before it started raining a lot again, so you quickly made your way inside.
A weird noises from your backyard and upstairs cought your attention. It was as if someone was walking here, and you were sure you noticed a few shadows outside. You decided to take a look at it, even if you were scared. So you took your phone to call the police if emergency, putted it safely to your pocket, and a baseball bat.
You’ve decided to look upstairs, since you locked your back doors, so you were feeling a bit more safe.
You were quietly tip toing upstairs, and furrowed your brows when you’ve noticed voices, and then recognized what they were saying.
“...not sure how we ended up here...”
“...stop doing that...”
You covered your mouth with one hand. You couldn’t belive that. No. You ears and mind had to be playing a tricks on you.
They sounded exactely like Balin and Thranduil.
You followed their voices. They were in one of your guest rooms. You peeked inside and almost gasped. For the lack of light you couldn’t really see how many of them was there, but they were at least three. One of them turned around and let out a gasp. Others turned to you and you firmly clunched the bat in your hands.
“Who are you and what are you doing in my house?” You said and one of them came a bit closer.
“We-we mean no harm to you, we’re sorry miss we scared you, but we have no idea how we got in here.” You gasped when Bilbo’s voice told you all of that.
“That’s impossible!” You cried out. Your bat fell down to the ground and you quickly switched on the light. There was a groaning when the light hit their eyes, and you quickly recognized Balin, Bilbo, Thranduil, Legolas, Dwalin, Bard and Gandalf.
You got out and runned away. You tried to calm down.
It’s nothing, Y/N. You’ve watched that movie ealier today. It’s just a fever, nothing else- Your thoughts have been interrupted when Bilbo’s voice came to your ears.
“Miss, we’re sorry if we scared you, are-are you okay?” He looked at you, worried. You carefully touched his hair and face.
“You-you’re...real.” You whispered. He flinched a bit.
“Well, yes, of course I am, well, I can imagine you are in shock, uhm...would you like to sit down?” He offered as if it would be you who was the visitor.
„I-I think better yes, thank you.“ You carefully sat down, closing your eyes and placing your index fingers on your temples. A loud knock made you jump up and open up your eyes. It came from your back door.
You carefully went there and overheard a voices you’d recognized immediatelly.
„...maybe we should just barge in, you know, it’s locked anyway.“ Kili.
„Perhaps you’re right,“ suggested another voice. Fili. You unlocked the door and opened them up only for you to see three dwarves a bit shorter than you, soaking wet. You opened the doors. You voice was chatched in your throat. You couldn’t believe what was happening.
„Come in.“ They looked at each other suspiciously, and you turned around to go to sit somewhere, so you wouldn’t hurt yourself if you’d fell uncoucious. Your legs were giving up pretty quickly.
„Miss-?“ Bard noticed your pale face and helped you to get onto the couch. Bilbo handed you your mug with a hot tea and you gratefully smiled at him. You sipped a bit and noticed how your hands were shaking and you were beginning to sweat. You needed to calm down.
„You have it nice here, I really like it-miss, are you alright?“ Kili said when he noticed that you were trying to stand, but almost fell down back. You creaked out a weak smile.
„It-it’s okay, Kili. It’s just-I am a bit dizzy-Bilbo, I can stand on my own,“ You mourmured when the hobbit took your arm to help you stand. You looked up and noticed all of them were quiet and Kili’s mouth and eyes were wide open, Bilbo’s face held also a huge surprise. You muttered under your breath,
„Oh shit.“ You straightened you back and tried your best not to get scared by Dwalin and Thorin, both glaring at you. Instead, you looked over to Gandalf and Balin.
„I-I think we will go to kitchen and-talk about this.“ You looked to still stunned Kili, whom Fili nudged to ribs so he would close his mouth, and Thorin.
„I’ll bring you some dry clothes. Just...don’t move.“ You murmed and sneaked to your dad’s closet to get some clothes that would fit them. He would always forget some of them here when he needed to wash them in the washing mashine.
You found only two shirts, with trousers there was a better situation – you owned a men’s jeans in size that would fit you plus some larger ones for tucking swaters in them and men trousers, because you liked their silhouette and wore them sometimes. You looked through your closet and found a few oversized t-shirts, mostly black and dark blue. You quickly gathered them and made your way down the stairs.
You came back and noticed they were walking around and looking at everything. Bilbo and Gandalf were trying to stop them (Bilbo felt very sorry for you, because he knew how it felt like), the Mirkwood elves sitting on the couch and flipping through your books. You tried to find the Durins, and it was not that hard. You had to follow the wet paths they left. You sighed in relief and you found them in the kitchen, unsurprisingly.
„Hey, you three!“ They all turned to you. You sighed and handed the clothes to the Durins.
„Go and change. Don’t protest, it’s comfortable and dry. Then come back here.“ You noticed the untrust in Thorin’s eyes and sighed.
„You have to believe me. Just-please-go and change. I’ll show you where.“ Thorin looked like he wanted to argue, but something in your voice made him to only nod and follow you with his nephews.
While they were changing in the bathroom, you took a few chairs to your table, which was quite big. You sat into the head of the table with your tea, slowly sipping the almost cold liquid, and watching them. You gave them some food, but knowing how much dwarves could eat, you weren’t quite sure if it was a good idea.
When the Durins came back, Kili was curious and wanted to know where you knew his name from. He sat by your left and you had to admit, all of them three looked good in jeans and a shirt and t-shirts. His brother sat down next to him and Thorin, eyeing Thranduil, sat down next to his older nephew and Dwalin. You looked to your left, where was sitting Bilbo, then there was Balin, Legolas, Bard and Thranduil. Opposite to Thranduil has seated down Gandalf, so if some argument would come up, he’d be there to calm them down. You smiled at him and stood up.
„Well, I don’t exactely know how to start this...unexpected meeting.“ You started and all eyes were on you. You blushed when you noticed Kili’s intense gaze.
„I am aware you don’t know how did you got in here, so I-I want to help you to find your way home.“ You started playing with your hands nervously and looked over all of them. They looked exactely like in the movies, only their clothes looked more worn and wrinkled than in the movies. You were thinking if you should tell them or not that they were characters from the book and in the movies. It would be easier to explain, maybe even for them of how did they came to your world, you thought.
„Do you know us? I mean, you obviously know me and Master Baggins,“ Kili said and looked at you. You slightely blushed under his curious gaze.
„I don’t know how to explain it,“ you sighed.
„It’s quite complicated, but yes, I know all of you and more from your world.“ You said and someone gasped in surprise. Only Gandalf looked not that surprised.
„How do we know it’s true?“ Dwalin said and you shivered. He was always scaring you.
„For example, I know that you are Dwalin, then there’s Thorin, Fili, Kili, Thranduil, Legolas, Balin, Bard, Bilbo and Gandalf. In your world, there, for example, I know about Lord Elrond, Bofur, Gloin, Gimli, Lindir-“ You stopped. You realized you didn’t knew in which part of book, or even series they were. Dwalin looked over to Kili and snorted.
„What about your elf maid, huh?“ You started laughing with the dwarves and even Gandalf looked he was having a good time, when you noticed Kili’s face and ears reddening and his gaze quickly averted to table. You stopped laughing, but there was still a smile on your face, when you carefully touched his shoulder. He sleepishly and shyly looked up to you and you offered him a smile.
„I’m sorry, Kee. But it’s funny.“ A thought came to you. You didn’t knew if it was a good idea, but you decided it would be good to perhaps give it a try.
„Well, I think that this...will perhaps explain why do I know all of you.“

Multi-Dimensional pt. 2

The Company x Reader
Trigger warning: reference to past domestic/animal abuse
Really angsty but funny at the beginning.
@barbar126
So when you finished your little '10 minutes alone in your house' test, you were actually pleasantly surprised to see everyone sitting around your living room and enjoying their tea and food without a fuss. They hadn't even taken their weapons back, and nothing was broken either.
After that, you realized that things were probably going to go well and you can afford relax a bit. Plus... free labor.
Around 5 or so days pass by without much incident (of course showing them how to use the bathroom was awful since they didn't seem to grasp the fact that the water just comes out of the showerhead and they don't need to fill anything... and that the water could actually be warm if they waited for 10 damn seconds).
You made the mistake of not telling the 'dwarf' known as Dwalin to wait while you got everything set up, and when you turned he had already been half-naked.
Suffice to say, you screamed so loud that a bunch of those 'dwarves' came running over with weapons drawn and everything.
You're going to have to make a spray bottle and spritz them when they pull out their pointy things like that, but only after you're 100% sure they won't shank you for it.
The first time they saw your barn full of horses, cows, goats, and some sheep they were excited, and when they saw your aquarium room with all your fish and the terrariums with your snakes and turtle that you pet sit, they were a little more nervous.
The youngest, who you know to be Ori, had asked if the reptiles would eat them, but you only smiled and said, "Not unless I tell them too." You can't actually make them attack the dwarves, but it's best to keep them on their toes.
You decided to 'employ' all of them to help you take care of the animals, though you don't really need it, and may I say that the sight of your tiny hamsters, rabbit, and turtle being held in big 'man' hands is probably the cutest thing you've ever seen.
Yeti has also betrayed you, for he has fallen in love with that blond 'hobbit' known as Bilbo, and will only listen to him. If you had known Yeti would drop everything and have an affair the moment you turned your back, you would've sent them away (not really). The first time Yeti refused to come to you while he was snuggling the small hobbit shattered your heart. The betrayal shot through you like a poison arrow and spread throughout your whole body, leaving nothing in its wake other than sorrow and pain.
You got called dramatic for that.
"Fine! I don't need you anyway, Yeti! I've got Copper!" You cried, much to the amusement of your guests.
To be honest, you act like a total nut job with the sole purpose of bringing some joy into their everyday lives... and to keep them underestimating you in case things go south.
The quieter Balin seemed to take to your cat Butterscotch immediately, and now you rarely see him without ole Scotch in his lap. Your other two cats Midnight and Mittens were a little less pleased to have so many people around them, but they tolerated the dwarves and eventually got to petting terms with them.
The brothers Fili and Kili (you keep mixing them up, you're ashamed to admit) seemed to like your rabbit and hamsters the most. After you showed them how to feed the little fluffy boi's and how to open their cages, you often found them walking around holding them in their arms. It's very cute.
Thorin, the leader of this entourage, acts like he doesn't care for any of them, but you saw that bastard feeding Copper scraps under the table when he thought you weren't looking. And, apparently, Mittens kinda likes him which is interesting.
It's been only 5 days, but you found yourself becoming fond of the lot of them rather quickly, and they to you (though you don't know that).
You have two spare bedrooms with medium-sized beds, the love seat, long couches, and a chair in your living room, and a small couch in your bedroom too. You decided that moving the couch out to one of the other guest bedrooms would be beneficial, but it'll take some time so you were postponing it.
Now is as good of a time as any, you suppose.
You had been feeding your fish with Nori and Ori, and when the inspiration to move the couch hit you, you handed them the shaker and said, "Be careful not to overfeed them, otherwise they will explode and I will cry." You make your way to the door and pause, "A lot."
With that, you leave toward the stairs, and Copper rises from his spot next to Thorin (you feel weird not saying Mr. before) to follow after you.
"Oh, here's my good little boy!" You kneel down and squish his fluffy face, making over-exaggerated smooching noises as you kiss the top of his head and his snout, "Who's a good boy? Who's my good boy!?" You ask in a baby voice, scratching his back and petting him all over. His tail wags excitedly as you smother him in affection, and it only makes your heart melt, "You would never betray mommy, no you wouldn't! You wouldn't ditch me for a hobbit, would you baby? Oh, I love you." smooch, "so," smooch, "much!" You kiss the top of his head one more time, then stand back up with a bright smile on your face.
Someone clears their throat behind you, so you turn and see the majority of the intruders standing behind you. Some of them look amused, a few disturbed, and others are actually laughing.
"What?" You ask indignantly, feeling your face heat up from embarrassment. You forget that there are others in the house who aren't use to your animated way of talking to your babies.
"You have quite an interesting way of speaking with your animals." Mr. Thorin asshole Oakenshield states (he's actually a pretty nice guy).
You can't even help the violent blush from spreading across your cheeks, "D-Don't talk to me like that!" You exclaim, pouting rather childishly. "Copper! Attack!" You yell, pointing in his general direction.
A few of them stiffen, but Copper just kinda lazily ambles over and sits down in the middle of the dwarves, making you gasp dramatically. There's some more laughter, and while you knew Copper wouldn't actually attack them, it did nothing to ease how flustered you are like you thought it would.
You throw your arms up in the air in defeat and yell exasperatedly, "Fine! Have fun laughing while I put small animals in your things!" You don't wait around to see how they react and instead walk up the stairs and head to your room to begin moving the couch.
There's some murmuring that you can hear down below.
"Did we actually offend her?" Someone whispers.
You don't know their voices well enough to decipher who is who, yet, but their conversation actually warms your heart a bit.
"We didn't, did we? I only found it to be slightly amusing, and cute..." Another voice states.
"Yeah, it was cute, t-the dog I mean..."
Ooh, they think you're cute. Nice.
You decide that you should stop eavesdropping and go ahead and start moving the couch. Or try at least.
At first, you try pushing it, but the carpet simply doesn't allow for it, so you instead try to pull it, but that doesn't work either. Then, you crouch down and manage to lift it slightly from the ground, and so you, still gripping the gap beneath it, slowly walk back with it a few steps. You only manage to make it about 3 feet before you have to take a breather though.
You do that 4 more times, and eventually, you make it to the still-open, door. Once you get it there you stop and lean against it, panting quietly from the exertion.
For about a minute you stand there, and once you've caught your breath somewhat you lean back down and lift it as much as you can again and begin dragging it backward. You make some grunting noises from your effort and breathe out loudly when you drop it 2 feet later, standing up straight since the position is making your back hurt.
You bury your head in your hands and groan dramatically, "I'm a failureeeee!"
"Are you okay?" Someone says behind you suddenly.
You turn your head a bit and see one of the brothers, the brown-haired one, Kili you think (or was it Fili?), on the stairs looking at you with furrowed eyebrows, so you drop your hands back to your side.
"Just peachy. Do you need help with something?" You ask, wiping your hands on your jeans.
He shakes his head no, then glances at the heavy couch you're trying to move. "No, but it looks like you do."
You look down at the couch, then back at him and shake your head, "No, no I've got this. I've just gotta bring it across the hall over there." You point towards the end of the catwalk, but your resolve diminishes slightly when you realize just how far it is. Of course, you don't retract your denial since you don't want to look stupid. "All good over here."
You turn your back to him again and go back to your little system of lifting it slowly, pulling it back a few feet, then dropping it.
Honestly, it's painful to watch.
He then asks again, "Are you sure... you do not need help?"
You shake your head 'no' and don't bother turning or answering verbally this time (definitely not because you're out of breath), instead you just do the same process again and finally pull the damn thing all the way through your door.
"S-See? I've got it all under control!" You look over at him with a weary and very unconvincing smile. Damn, you don't even believe it yourself.
"Hey Fili, come here!" He calls suddenly, not acknowledging your assurance that you're all good.
Oh great, now they're gonna watch you fail together and make fun of you.
You huff indignantly and turn away, moving to pick it up again and, hopefully, arrive at your destination before you can be embarrassed anymore today.
Heavy footsteps ascend up the stairs and you groan internally, but continue nonetheless.
"What is it?" You hear him ask Kili (now you've got it), "Oh, uh, what is she doing?"
You do your best to tune them out and just go about your business. When you drop the couch this next time, though, you kinda just stand there for a moment and wait for your back to stop hurting.
A voice then pipes up next to you, "Allow us."
You look down at the blond dwarf with surprise, not having heard him approach, "Um, I don't know if you'll be able to..." Your eyes drift over to Kili (you know that's his name for sure this time) who is at the opposite end of the furniture, and when he lifts it, it goes up much higher than what you managed.
How is that even possible? They're smaller than you are! In height, at least... Okay, actually maybe it does make sense since, as stated 5 days ago, these bitches are thicc👌.
"Okay." You don't see the point in arguing any further and just step out of the way (plus you hate physical labor), watching as they carry the whole couch to the other room in record time. Now you just feel silly, having so adamantly refused any assistance when the job effort was cut in half in literal seconds.
After a few moments of just standing there, you follow and go into the room, seeing that they've already placed it in a free space in the room.
"Is this alright?" Kili asks, looking over at you with a slightly smug expression.
You just nod dumbly, looking between them and the couch a few times, "I don't...," you pause before you finish that thought, squinting at the couch, "Move it a little to the left."
They do just that, and when it's done you smile brightly, "Looks good. Thank you."
Fili opens his mouth to say something, but a loud knock on your door and barking from Copper and Yeti silences him.
You spin around on your heel and look downstairs frantically at the entrance, seeing a distorted figure through the wavy glass of your front door. Your eyes go wide, and you turn back to the two brothers, "Don't go outside!"
You then race downstairs, the two following close behind, and wave everyone looking at the door over to you, "Go hide over there," you point to an area out of sight from the front door. You smile and say, "Good boys!" out of habit, but another knock keeps you from getting embarrassed.
You start to run over to the door, but pause and run back to say, "And don't leave this area. I don't know who's here."
A louder knock resounds throughout your main room, and you yell, "I'm coming! Just give me a moment!" Once they're all hidden away, you make your way over and open the front door.
Your face falls immediately, "Erick... what are you doing here?" Suddenly all the confidence and joy washes out of you, leaving nothing but a barren wasteland of confusion and dismay.
The man at your doorway, Erick, looks down at you with a blank stare, then down at your dogs. A smile comes to his face and he says, "Hey, Copper! I've missed you, buddy!"
Copper doesn't go up to him, instead he growls a bit and you feel satisfied about it. Yeti just turns away and goes to where everyone else is hiding, no doubt to look for Bilbo.
Erick steps forward a bit and goes to pet him, but you snap, "Hey! Leave him alone. What do you want?"
When you ask what he wants, he steps back out onto the patio and glares at Copper briefly before looking back at you, "I just came by to see Copper, is all. He's my dog too you know."
His words make your blood boil, but you try to keep your cool and instead shake your head, "No, the moment you raised your hand to him he was no longer your dog. And I doubt you made a trip all the way here just to see him. Just tell me what you want so I can get back to my day."
His fists clench at his sides and you unconsciously flinch but maintain eye contact. "Fine, you're right. I came to take him back home with me."
"What?" You ask incredulously, looking down at Copper's sweet face, then back up at him. "Yeah, no way, he's my fucking dog."
"Yes way, he was our dog, and being as I bought him for you and paid all his bills before you began this worthless animal sitting shit, I have more of a right to him than you." His voice sounds so smug, and his smirk makes you sick to your stomach
"You only bought him for me because you needed something to make me stick around." You argue, "Why are you doing this now? Why not last week? Or tomorrow? Or literally any other time? Why did you have to come by without even calling me in advance?"
He crosses his arms and leans forward intimidatingly, purposefully looming just to unnerve you, "Because I want my dog back."
Oh, you know exactly what he's doing. Copper is precious to you in more ways than one, and after your not so great breakup with this slimy bastard, he looked for every way to piss you off and fuck you over. You can't count on two hands how many times he threatened Copper's well-being just to force you to do something. He thinks that by taking Copper now he can psych you out and make you come back to him. And, well, he probably can, but there's no way you're going to just give Copper to him.
"Over my dead freaking body." You snap back, crossing your arms much like he did, "I can pay you back for everything in cash, but he's not going anywhere with you."
"Yes, he is. I've got the receipts to prove it too. Give him to me or I take you to court."
Oh, this fucker.
"Then fucking take me to court!" You stand your ground and shake your head, taking a calming breath so you don't explode, "Why can't you just leave us alone? Copper is my dog, I love him so much, and you know that! I'm sorry I broke up with you and it hurt your feelings, but you have to leave him out of this! Isn't there something else I can give you? Like my money?"
"Well... I suppose I can make this all go away." He suddenly says, a smirk curling upon his lips and he leans down slightly.
You don't dare hope that he's going to say something rational. "How?"
"Just let me take you out on one more date, I'll show you that I'm not that guy anymore." He attempts a 'sweet' and 'apologetic' smile, but you can see right through him, "I didn't even mean to hit him anyways." Just as you expected.
You lean back when he gets closer and your nose scrunches up distastefully. "Um, yeah, you didn't mean to hit him because you meant to hit me, or did you forget about that? I'm not going anywhere with you. End of discussion." At this point, you've completely forgotten about the 14 people hiding not 20 feet away. You're just so damn angry you can't even think straight.
"Then I'm going to take him back home with me. And if he happens to get out and run into the middle of the road... well, my dog door doesn't lock, as you know."
You recoil at his hateful, disgusting words and feel a spark of emotion shoot through you, "I w-won't let you take him. He's been through enough because of you!" In a way you're expressing your own frustrations through Copper, speaking about him in a way that conveys what you're actually feeling too. "Please, Erick just leave us alone. I can pay you back for the things you got him, that way you haven't lost anything."
"Except for you." He tries to sound disappointed and regretful, but you know he isn't. He isn't. "You know I love you..."
For a split second you almost believe him, but you shove that trust away as soon as it appears. It took you a long time to get to where you are today, and you're not about to relapse and start forgiving him again now. "You don't love me, Erick, you love to control me. I left, and that's your fault!"
"If you won't get back with me, then give me Copper and I'll leave you alone."
Great, an ultimatum.
Yes, having this prick leave you alone for good would be wonderful, but sending that innocent fluff ball with him is a death sentence. You don't know what he did to him when you weren't home if he did anything at all, but you loathe the thought of Copper being at his mercy (mostly because he has none).
Copper was the only ray of light in your dark life then. He was your only solace, your beacon of hope, and your only ally when Erick made you drive everyone else away. In some ways, you'd first die then part with him.
"No! I already said I'm not going to give him to you! You only gave him to me so you could use him against me anyways! You don't love him, and you don't love me. You're crazy."
He glares daggers into you but doesn't reply to that. Then steps to the side and whistles, "Copper, come here."
Copper's ears twitch, but he doesn't move to get up. He's scared.
When Copper doesn't move Erick begins to step inside, but you get in front of him and glare up at him, "Hey! You can't come in here, Erick!"
He doesn't move at first, clearly not having expected you to stand up to him physically like that.
"This doesn't have to be difficult, Y/N. Just give me his leash and we'll be on our way."
"Over. My. Dead. Body!" You repeat, reaching back to push Copper away a bit and urge him to run off.
"That can be arranged." He hisses, a dangerous glint gleaming in his eyes.
"Hey, g-get away from me!" You shrink back and start to step away, but he reaches up and grabs your wrists, causing you to physically cringe when his skin meets yours. "D-Don't touch me!" You cry in alarm, hearing some shuffling from the very place you hid your new friends. The new friends that you instructed not to come out. Copper stands up when you start to shout and he barks at Erick, but he only ignores your good little floofer and shakes you a bit.
"You were so much better when you listened!" He snaps, releasing one of your hands to grab your face in a bruising grip.
"Stop!" You yell louder, voice slightly muffled and intended for both him and the no doubt distressed dwarves and hobbit. One of your knees comes up almost on its own, and though it doesn't quite hit it's target, it does hit his stomach. His grip on you loosens, so you wrench your wrist from his grasp and shove him backwards out your door, causing him to land on his butt on the wood deck.
"Did you really just do that?!" He screams, staggering to his feet with murder in his eyes as he moves to come back inside. "You're gonna fucking wish you-"
He reaches towards you, but you slam the door on his fingers before he can come any closer or finish his threat. A loud cry of pain comes from in front of you, but you slam your door instead of going to look. You turn all the locks quickly and step back from it, tripping over your own feet and falling on your butt much like he did when he starts to bang on your door from the other side.
"Give me that damn dog, Y/N! I will get a judge involved! I'll sue you for assault and robbery!"
He continues to scream and break things outside your door, and at some point you wrap Copper up in a tight hug, sniffling softly from a mixture of both relief and fright.
Erick screams every curse in the book. He screams violent threats against your animals, describing what he's going to do if he ever get's his hands on them, all the ways he's going to hurt you. How he wants you to die, and how he'll kill you if you ever cross paths again.
You don't know how long he goes at it, yelling these hateful and threatening things at you and your poor animals, but eventually, he quiets. With one final kick at your door and exclamation about how he's going to get you for this, he leaves.
Your heart is beating rapidly in your chest, and you're unable to move for a little bit until Copper's cool nose presses against your cheek gently.
He's shaking (or maybe that's you), you notice, so you stroke his head gently and mumble, "Hey, it's okay sweetheart... It's okay." You don't know if he can understand you, but your voice seems to calm him regardless. Despite being slightly traumatized, you're actually a little proud of yourself for standing up for yourself and Copper like that.
More shuffling registers from behind you, but you don't turn to look. You don't want them to see your tears, even if you consider them your friends. People are horrible, and when they see someone like you as you are now they either pity you needlessly, or see someone they can take advantage of. And you're done being taken advantage of.
You just continue to sit there on the ground, hugging Copper's fuzzy head to your chest while you whisper comforting things to him, sniffling occasionally while you wait for your violent trembling to cease.
A few minutes pass of complete silence, you could probably hear a fly landing on something with how quiet it is. There is nothing you loathe more at this moment then having to face the people behind you, but you stand up anyways.
"Miss Y/N?"
Ah, you recognize that voice. It's the hobbit Bilbo, and it sounds like he doesn't know what to say.
You ignore him calling your name and just dance around the topic and try to make a joke out of it by stating, "W-Well that was awkward, wasn't it? I didn't think this is how our day would go." You don't turn to face them, shoulders stiff while you look at Copper's sweet face and try to keep your tears at bay, "I... I don't feel so good all of a sudden. I think I'm going to retire early tonight." Your voice is soft and weak, heavy from crying, and you just feel humiliated all around (especially at the way your voice breaks when you attempt a laugh).
You turn slowly and force a smile, one much too bright and cheery to be paired with your puffy eyes and heart-wrenchingly frail demeanor. "H-Help yourself to my kitchen."
You cannot stand the expressions on their faces, even the half-deaf one heard everything, so you turn your gaze down to your feet and, without another word, make a bee-line for the stairs and practically run up them with Copper and Butterscotch on your heels. Even Yeti follows after you. "Good night!" You rush out before slamming your bedroom door, avoiding the same 14 pairs of eyes still trained on you.
If you had taken a little longer to look at them, you would've seen more than pity though. Some of them held anger, some looked sad and empathetic, and some were simply shocked or upset themselves. They've seen nothing but the strong-willed and funny part of you, so seeing that...
It seems that your distress has affected the mood of this company quite a bit more than you realize.

Thorin was getting worried, Kili had become somewhat of a ghost story over the past month. He had assumed that his nephew was simply doing his duty. Kili had volunteered to be the envoy between Dale and Erebor for the discussions of armament and training. However, that treaty was signed a week ago, and said envoy position was no longer needed. So why in all of Arda was Kili still going to Dale every day? The young prince left as soon as he was finished with his daily tasks and didn’t return to the mountain until well after the sun had set. Thorin was not worried for his nephew's safety, after all, Kili was an excellent warrior and could take care of himself, no, Thorin was worried for Kili’s heart.
Fili had also noticed his brother’s absence but the blonde prince had always been a bit more perceptive than his surly uncle. Fili had noticed that Kili was missing, but he also noticed that every time he returned to the mountain it was with the most dopey grin that he had ever seen. A grin that he recognized, for it had also graced his face a few months ago when he met his beloved Alma. Fili would bet his beard on it, Kili was in love.
You on the other hand were getting more and more annoyed each time the brown-haired dwarf walked through the front door. He was charming sure, and polite. But he stared. At you. The whole time he was there. And he was there a lot. His attempts to engage you in conversation were far and few between, the few times he was able to grab your attention away from the bustling building he became tongue-tied the moment your eyes landed on his.
Kili didn’t understand why he couldn’t say more than a few words to you without choking on his words. Your eyes had to hold some kind of spell within them. They enchanted him and left him bewitched every time he caught their gaze. It left him frustrated, he had never had this much trouble with women before, why were you so different? Deep down he knew though, you weren’t just any woman. He was afraid though, afraid that naming what you were to him out loud would make it real. And when it is real, it can hurt you.
There weren’t very many stories on One’s where the love didn’t end up requited, either because it just simply never happened. Dwarves were incredibly stubborn creatures after all, and it was entirely possible that they just wore down their other half until some sort of connection formed. It was also possible that those unfortunate few who weren’t able to woo their other half died of broken hearts. The former was unlikely as Kili kept having to remind himself, he couldn’t die of a broken heart. Right?
He was determined tonight though, to find out definitively if the sparks he felt for you were just interest in the handsome woman from Bree, or if you truly were the other half of his soul. To do that though he would need to say more than a few words to you. The problem with that was that you seemed exceptionally busy tonight.
Busy you were, Brant had told you last night that he was going to be leaving today to go to visit family for some type of emergency.
“If the place is still standing when I get back, we’ll talk more about it becoming yours someday.” He had said. You were hoping that that ‘someday’ was sooner rather than later. Brant was getting up there in years. Just last week he had hurt himself trying to lift one of the barrels of ale that had been shipped in from the Iron Hills. You had been taking on more and more of his old tasks and to be completely honest, it felt like you did the job of an owner anyway, just without all the benefits.
You weren’t going to let the man down though, even if it did mean rushing back and forth all night trying to keep up with demand all by yourself.
“Another! Y/N,” was yelled in front the back of the room. Roland was a boisterous man who got along with everyone, he was only a year or two older than you and was currently on his eighth pint of the night. He had a large countenance and seemed to fill up whatever space he occupied, he was handsome but the more and more he drank the less his looks mattered. Usually, this is the point in the night where he starts bordering more on unruly rather than fun-loving. Nevertheless, he was a paying customer and as long as he could still walk on his own out the doors, you weren’t going to say no to his money.
You grabbed another pint glass and poured one for him, balancing it and several other drinks on a tray. You steeled yourself with a deep breath before running back out into the fray.
Walking close to the stool he was sat on you leaned slightly over him and placed his pint down on the counter beside him. He was engrossed in the conversation between the large group of men, something about the best way to skin a buck, you weren’t really listening. As you grabbed his empty glass to take back to the kitchen to be washed, his large hand encircled your wrist none too gently.
“A pint is a wonderful thing, but it is even more delicious when served by a beautiful lady,” He whispered into your ear. You grit your teeth and roughly pull your hand back.
“Now, Roland, what have we said about touching things that don’t belong to you? Huh? Touch the wrong thing and you might just lose your hand.” You spit back at him. Cutting your eyes up at the mounted swords that rest above the fireplace only a few steps from where the two of you are. “I’d hate to have to clean those swords, they are sharp.” You look back into his eyes, satisfied with the fear that you see within them. You stand back up and place your tray back upon your shoulder.
“Anything else I can get you gents?” You question the other men scattered about the space. Silence reigned over the air for a few moments.
“Alrighty then.”
A pint here, a glass of wine there, and two hot meals delivered later, your tray was empty and everyone in the place seemed momentarily satisfied.
Letting out a breath you lean up against the counter.
“What did you say to him?” A somewhat familiar voice pipes up beside you. You turn your head towards the voice. It's the dwarf prince, and you are once again struck with just how handsome he is. You are also struck with the familiar feeling of annoyance, of course, he picked now to talk to you. Just when you had finally afforded yourself a break.
“Hmm?” You raise a singular eyebrow at him. “Who?”
“That large and very drunk man in the back, I couldn’t hear what you said but I could see the look on his face. It was similar to my brother’s when our mother would scold him for forgetting his manners.”
“That’s not too far off actually, Roland over there got a little too comfortable and touched something that didn’t belong to him, I had to remind him of the rules.”
“And what exactly did he touch that was so forbidden?” The prince smirks and laughs.
You smirk back and lift a glass to your lips before uttering one single word, “Me.”
All of the laughter drained from Kili’s face, “He touched you?” His voice had gotten much lower, his eyes darkened right before you.
You rolled your eyes. “I’m going to stop you right there Your Highness, I am perfectly capable of taking care of myself. I’ve been doing it for years. I don’t need some man, no matter how handsome he is coming to defend my honor every time I’m even remotely slighted. The trail of bodies will get far too long.” You stare into his eyes as you speak, putting all the righteous fury you’ve got stored inside into each word.
Seconds tick by before he opens his mouth to speak again.
“You think I’m handsome?”
“I think that we have bigger problems if that is the only thing you got from that.” You took another sip.
“No, no, no I got the point, you don’t need a big strong man to come to your rescue. Lucky for you, I am not big.”
The laugh that sprung from the back of your throat caught you off guard, you slap a hand over your mouth in an impossible effort to catch it and shove it back inside. He was funny, he had never been funny before.
Kili liked your laugh even though it was closer to a snort than an actual laugh, and he would be foolish to ignore the way his heart picked up at the thought that he was the one who made you laugh.
“You- I- I have never heard of a dwarf who makes fun of themselves, in my limited experience your lot are very prideful.”
“Not as prideful as some other races, I should think.”
“No, you’re not nearly as prideful as the pointy-eared bastards who hole themselves up in that accursed forest.” Your words held a healthy amount of rage as well as teasing.
“I sense that there is a story there somewhere.” Kili raised an eyebrow, mimicking your face from earlier. He was desperately trying not to think about the fact that this was the longest conversation the two of you had had up to date.
“One that I’m going to need a lot more liquid courage before divulging, I’m afraid.”
“We can make that happen.” Kili wiggled his eyebrows and pointed at the bottles of liquor behind the bar that separated the two of you.
At that very moment, a shout from the rowdy bunch of men in the back rang out, calling for another round.
“Duty calls your highness, but perhaps I will tell you that story… another time.” You winked at him and grabbed for your tray again, beginning to load it up once more. If that is how conversations with the dwarf prince went all the time, you wouldn’t mind having them more often.
You walked away before Kili could come up with a response, but he was more certain than he ever had been that your heart called to his. Why else would the very sight of you walking away feel like his heart was leaving too?

No Comparions {Kili x Plus Size Reader}
Tumblr media
Plot: You’re the only female member of the Company and Kili accidentally sees you bathing in the river.
Character: Kili x Plus Size Female Reader
Notes: insecurities, comparisons of self to other women
Part of my Plus Size Reader x Character Series!
Being the only female in Thorin’s Company was a hard task. You loved them all, even grumpy old Thorin, but sometimes it just got a bit tough. It was tough when they’d poke fun at your weight, they didn’t do it in a horrible cruel way but sometimes, they’d make a comment and it would hurt you deeply. You never showed that it upset you but it did deep down. It was hard when you had to bathe an hour earlier than the rest of them and be alone in the river at your most vulnerable.
You’d stripped of your clothes, washing them quickly and hanging them on the branches to dry and had slowly walked into the river. You were still so uncomfortable bathing out in the open like this, it made you feel too vulnerable. If someone saw you and saw your body... you shuddered at the thought. You weren’t slender and delicate like Tauriel the She-Elf, instead you were stocky and heavy; with thick thighs and a protruding belly. It killed you to see the way that Kili looked at Tauriel when all you wanted was for him to look at you like that.
You’d been too caught up in your thoughts when you heard a twig snap from behind you. You spun around, seeing Kili standing with wide horror stricken eyes and an open mouth. Quickly, you dropped into the water, fully submerging everything but your head, “Turn around!” You squealed loudly.
Kili - still in shock - spun around, covering his eyes, “(y/n), I am so sorry. I- I thought you would have been finished by now, I called out but no one answered so I thought you were finished!”
Your whole body burned of embarrassment in the cool water. You groaned quietly as you edged your way to the beach, “Do not look, Kili!”
Kili slapped his hand over his eyes, “Would you like me to go? I can come back when you’re finished?”
“Can you get my clothes? They’re right in front of you and just throw them to me.” Kili opened his eyes and grabbed your clothes before bundling them together and throwing them behind him but SPLASH! As if it couldn’t get worse, your clothes landed straight into the river.
Hearing the splash, Kili spun around as you lurched for them, once again exposing yourself, “Kili!” You yelled, covering your body with your sopping wet clothes.
“I’m so sorry!” Kili shouted, spinning around again, “I- I didn’t mean to, I heard the splash and I- here,” he pulled his furs off and dropped them at his feet, “Take my furs, wrap yourself in them; they’re warm and dry and I washed them yesterday so they’re clean.”
“Don’t peek!”
Slowly, you stood up and crept towards Kili, heart beating faster in case he saw you once more. As soon as your got to him, you grabbed his furs and wrapped them around you tightly so that you were all covered. You told him to turn around.
He was red in the face and he couldn’t look at you directly in the eyes, “I apologise, (y/n). I-I truly had not realised you were still bathing otherwise I would never have-”
You nodded, “Just don’t tell anyone, please.”
“I would never.”
“I know that they all like to tease me about my weight but you have to promise you won’t say anything about my body.”
Kili frowned at you, “Why would I do such a thing?”
You rolled your eyes, “Don’t you think I’ve noticed how you stared at the She-Elf? Obviously, I am not shaped or built like her.”
His frown deepened, “(y/n), what are you on about? Why are you comparing yourself to her?”
“I saw the way you looked at her, Kili. I saw the horror in your eyes when you saw me.”
A deep sadness washed over you as you saw his horrified face in your head but all was not as you thought, “I wasn’t- There was no horror in my eyes,” he told you strongly, “I was shocked and surprised that I caught you in such a vulnerable moment and I swear I tried my hardest to not look at you in such a vulnerable state. I wasn’t horrified by any means.”
You scoffed, “Save me the lies, Kili. I know you want a slender, thin, delicate thing and not a stocky, plump woman like me.”
Kili stepped towards you, so close that you could feel the tickle of his breath on your face, “You have it completely wrong. Ask Fili. Ask Fili who I’ve been talking about this whole time, who I’ve been raving about and daydreaming about; it’s you. Not Tauriel. Tauriel is an attractive Elf, yes, but you, (y/n), you are so beautiful.”
“But I’m not like her.”
“I don’t want you to be like her!” Kili told you, cupping your face in his hands, “I want you to be you. I want you to look like you with your thick thighs and your stomach and your ability to outdrink half of the Company! Please stop comparing yourself to others. You’re you, (y/n) and that’s enough.”
You looked at him with awe filled eyes as he continued, “They shouldn’t tease you for your weight, I suppose they believe you to be ‘one of the lads’ as that’s what we do to each other but I’ll tell them that they’re overstepping a line, alright?”
You nodded and Killi stepped away, dropping his hands from your face, “I’ll let you get dressed, your clothes should be a bit drier now but please, consider what I’ve said.”
He turned and walked away when you called out for him. He turned, “I fancy you, too.”

20 Fanfic Questions
ty for the tag @virtie333, sorry for the delay!
How many works do you have on AO3?
7, so far!
2. What's your total AO3 words count?
17,707 (that number makes me unreasonably happy)
3. What fandoms do you write for?
currently: Moon Knight (2022) previously: The Arcana (dating sim, pre-Dorian butchering), The Hobbit franchise (I'd like to continue this one tbh!!) potentially: the Lokiverse (mans has been in too much), Spiderverse
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
An Unexpected Proposition (Kili x Fem!Reader - 43 kudos) Strawberry Cordial (Muriel x Apprentice OC - 37 kudos) Last Night (Jake Lockley x Fem!Reader - 26 kudos) Perks of Being a Wallflower (Jake Lockley x Plus Sized Fem!Reader - 17 kudos) Unfamiliar Territory (Muriel x Apprentice OC - 15 kudos)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
ABSOLUTELY, it makes me happy to do so. I love telling writers how I feel about their works (all good things i promise). and i love when folks take the leap and share their feedback.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
oh golly, technically Frankincense & Myrrh (The Arcana, Muriel x Apprentice OC). bc it's 1) unfinished and 2) will deal with a lot of the post-resurrection trauma Tamar (my Apprentice) will go through. it'll still be fluffy and more comfort than hurt if i ever get back into it, but man i really miss seeing her go through it.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
i'd have to say Perks of Being a Wallflower! no angst, just insecurity leading up to the ending lol
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I'm not popular enough to attract the haters
9. Do you write smut. If so what kind?
i don't <3
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
i feel like the closest thing to a crossover i'd attempt is something in the mcu, since every major event affects everything else in some way
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
great heavens i hope not
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
nah
13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
not in the strictest sense of the word. but in the future, i plan on crediting the folks i share hcs and thots with, they've had a huge hand in shaping the world of my stories.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
the only thing that comes to mind is Matt Murdock x Claire Temple but i 1) have not finished Daredevil and 2) fully respect her for distancing herself from that disaster boy
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
Frankincense & Myrrh - the Arcana fandom was spiraling when i entered in 2020, and while i love all the research and outlining i did for that story, it would take a lot for me to dive back into the game/lore to flesh out that story. Tamar Ufam you will always be famous to me.
16. What are your writing strengths?
i'd have to say dialogue and my attempts to make the stakes believable
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
(actually writing lol) in all seriousness, taking the time to string together the little story pearls i come up with. i burn myself out sometimes and end up not writing anything.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
i enjoy seeing it! what i don't like is people going "lol no hate on my google translate spanish/whatever language" (mostly when the language is poorly applied) bc we not only have the technology/better websites to use, but real people online willing to assist with translating/contextualizing. if you're going to do it, give it its due diligence. fingers crossed i can follow my own directive on that.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Cats the Musical. I don't want to talk about it.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
published: tie between Last Night and Perks of Being A Wallflower. the first 2 fics i've published for my new fave Jake, and i see a lot of myself in Reader. these two will always be near and dear to my heart. unpublished: Relic to Relic (Loki x Fem!OC), outlining that story got me through my junior year of high school. while i'd need to rework some aspects of my OC's arc/abilities, i wouldn't mind writing for these two again.
tagging @cchickki @hon3yboy @mrs-lockley if you'd like to brag on yourselves!!

Hey! Would you ever consider doing a Kili X plus size reader insert? If so could you do a one with the prompt 20. “You’re not as quiet as you think.” and/or 24. “Why are you whispering?” in which the reader is the shy human Gandalf has dragged along on the journey. Everyone thinks she is silent but Kili, who has fallen for her, realises that she talks to herself and laughs at the company's antics. Lots of fluff please! Have a good day!
Hi! So sorry that this took so long for me to get to. I actually don’t write plus size (or skinny, or short, or tall, or any specific race/ethnicity, minus Tolkien races, for that matter) because I don’t want to put a ton of physical descriptors for the reader. I find that my imagines are more inclusive this way. I did write this for a fem!human!reader and it’s all queued up. I tagged you in it, but if you’re not interested in it then let me know and I’ll pull the tag out. Thanks so much for requesting!

Hi! So I saw your requests were open and I was wondering if I could ask for one? So my request was a Kili x plus size/chubby reader, where the reader could be yanno insecure with her body and never had any partner or kissed in her life, and Kili wants to court her cause he likes her but he's a puppy so he doesn't know how and asks for his brother's advices? I think I read somewhere that, for dwarfs, having some fat is considered pretty? And healthy? Plz and Thx!🙏❤

Unadulterated Crack Part 18
Pairing: Thorin Oakenshield x Reader
Word Count: 1,216
warnings: Dain and Dwalin teasing Thorin, Worrying, Fili and Kili being mean to Thorin, talk of marriage, slight and subtle questioning if the baby is actually Thorin’s.
A/N: This is the chapter I rewrote for you because I made Dain awful, and I didn’t like it. Have fun.
— Part 1 — Part 2 — Part 3 — Part 4 — Part 5 — Part 6 — Part 7 — Part 8 — Part 9— Part 10 — Part 11— Part 12 — Part 13 —Part 14 — Part 15— Part 16— Part 17 — Part 18 (here) — Part 19 — Part 20 — Part 21 —
As you dozed carelessly on Thorin’s shoulder that night, his cousin came to pay him a visit. Dain took one look at you and joked, “What did they run outta space in the infirmary that even the King has to share his bed with a stranger?”
Thorin softly mused, “No, she came on the quest with us, she saved not only my life but the life of my nephews.”
“Oh, is tha’ a Courting braid in her hair I see? Some lass finally managed to tame my wild Cousin, she must be a real tough one to put up with ye.” Dain teased, sitting down in the arm chair on Thorin’s side of the bed.
Thorin grumbled, “Tough to deal with! Look whose talking, you literally look like a boar!”
"You’ve always hated my Boars! Why! What did dear old Bonnie ever do to ye?“ Dain exclaimed loudly.
Thorin hushed, "Quiet you great buffoon! She finally just fell asleep!” as you stirred slightly in his arm, and buried your face deeper into his shoulder.
Both Dwarves remained silent and still, waiting for you to settle back into your restful slumber. Once you had Dain whispered, “So when are you going to pop the question?” excitedly.
Thorin shot his cousin a disapproving warning look, but eventually his right shoulder slumped, and he sighed, “I don’t know, there is so much to be done, and there is the cultural gaps we have to get over, then there is Dis, and Thranduil to deal with. It could be a few weeks or it could be a few years at this point. Plus Oin says neither of us is getting out of this bed for a number of weeks, and on top of that she’s pregnant, so that’ll complicate things a great deal.”
Dain let out a soft squeak, “She’s pregnant! Is it yer’s or someone else’s  baby!”
Thorin shushed him again and said, “It’s mine, she has barely been out of my sight for the last six months, and she’s only four months along.”
While Dain was questioning Thorin about you, Dwalin came in the room. Thorin pointed a thick finger at his friend, and snapped, “You! You knew she was pregnant with my baby within the first month of it, and you didn’t fucking tell me! You traitorous bastard, ” as quietly as he could, whilst still getting his point across.
Dwalin snorted, “She was te one who didnae’ want to’ tell yoy. She made us swear on all of yer lives not to tell you, even made me swear on ma’ axes and to mahal!” Putting both of his large hands up in defense.
Dain snickered, “That’s  probably cause ye’ve get a fat mouth and she knew it too, ye wanker.”
Dwalin glared at Dain and spat, “Look who’s talking about big mouths, ye toss pot!” in a hushed tone.
Thorin rubbed the bridge of his nose and said, “Did you come in here for some reason other than to wake up my pregnant wife?”
Dwalin nodded his head, he put his bear paw sized hands on the foot of the bed and leaned on it whilst bringing Thorin up to date on the goings-ons  of the mountain.
Apparently Fili was an excellent diplomat, Thranduil was even charmed by his nephew. Bard and Fili got along smashingly, since both of them were new to the whole “ruling” thing. Fili and Balin had agreed that Bard and his people would seek shelter in Erebor once winter came, and Thranduil and Dain were to supply food to everyone, and while everyone was all cozy in the mountain they would work on restoration of the great dwarven halls.
In return come the spring and summer the Dwarves help the men and elves rebuild Dale, and plant crops, and pay a small fee of a certain necklace to the elves and give the men the gold they were promised. You had awoken during the middle of the update, but made no move to show anyone that you could hear them. Dwalin finished the update with a certain tidbit of information that was a cause of concern for you. Dwalin had sent word to Ered Luin of the out come of the battle, and apparently Dis and a small group of craftsmen were to arrive before Yule. Dis was apparently not happy that Thorin almost got himself and her sons killed, although it turns out Dwalin did go too deeply into detail in the letter.. Thorin sent Dwalin and Dain away after that, you looked up at him and said, “Your sister did not sound too pleased about the outcome.”
Thorin sighed, “Aye, but she rarely ever pleased with the things I do, but I’m sure you will provide an adequate distraction to assuage her anger. She’s been nagging me for a hundred and fifty years to settle down and have children of my own.”
You grumbled, “I doubt that I could do much, your sister sounds like a dwarrow to be reckoned with.”
“Oh she is, she is, but she also adored babies, and you’ll be showing a little bit by then, which will be enough for her to dote on you.” He assured you, as he rubbed his rough palm into the side of your hip, he added, “Not to mention Kili wanting to court that she-elf will also be very distracting.”
you chided, “Her name is Tauriel, she might be a part of your family some day, you need to start using her name.”
Fili and Kili brought you two dinner that night, Fili now sporting a wicked eye patch, and Kili walking with a limp, but both grinning ear to ear in greetings.
While Fli and Thorin talked politics and policy, you and Kili talked about different things. “So, AUNTIE,have you and uncle set a date for the wedding yet?” Kili whispered cheekily with a wink in your direction.
You retorted, “What about you and Tauriel, huh? When are you two getting married? Have you even asked to court her yet,” taking a bite of the sandwich they brought you.
Kili blushed, and started babbling about how perfect Tauriel was and that he was barely worthy to eat the dirt she walked on let alone court her. Fili interrupted his brother’s ramblings and said, “What are we going to do about Amad?”
Thorin patted Fili on the head and stated, “Don’t worry, I have it all planned out.”
Kili huffed, “Yes, but might I point out, dearest uncle, your plans to calm our mother never have worked in the history of ever.”
Fili muttered, “They usually make her angrier actually.”
Thorin said, “Yes, well that was when I handled it, I’m going to leave it to (y/n), they can talk it out mother to mother.”
Fili laughed, “That’s a terrible plan! Amad will be livid that you entered a courtship, let alone got her pregnant, before introducing them.”
You asked, “Does that mean she’s going to be mad at me as well,” dreading her ire already.
Thorin replied, “I think you boys are blowing this out of proportions, not to mention scaring (y/n). Dis is going to love her, I mean how many times has she told me to get a wife?” Both Fili and Kili seemed convinced that their mother would like you, but be barking mad at Thorin for being a clot head.
