The shitty thing about feeling as if you've been ignored is the Paradox you trap yourself in if you even THINK of mentioning it, on the one hand, if you directly say it to the faces of the people who have just been busy and haven't been ignoring you at all will think your clingy and desperate and might want to pull away from you because you've made them uncomfortable, on the other hand, if you do it in an untargeted soft way of "Hey I've felt a little left behind" in the general chat that could very well get ignored to, leaving you to just feel worse. It's a catch 22 of minty fucking eels
#Awled Ren Vents#posting this at fuck o'clock in the morning to avoid accidentally hurting anyone's feelings#Severe Isolation fucks with you#this whole situation isn't helped by the fact that I got broken up with not much more then a week before Christmas#while 2 thirds of the way though what turned out to be a nearly 2 week long migraine#because my glasses were slightly out of prescription and had a scratch that was constantly making my eyes refocus#and then got reminded that I'm about to experience my first valentines day single in almost 5 years#and the reason for the breakup?#I had confronted her about only ever coming to hang out with me to share her things#and even seeming disappointed and annoyed when we were doing something else#and constantly turning down every single offer I gave of joining us in our other thing even if I had to fit together a whole new schedule#to include her#and she'd promised to try and reach back a little more#and then everything barely changed at all#and she felt that wasn't fair to me#and is practically STILL doing it#meanwhile I can't get other people to even put in 5 minutes to throw an image on a doc without even having to consider formatting#or spend a few spare minutes putting the bare basics of their characters on to the point I have to do it#and everyone is always suggesting new things to watch and then somehow leaving me to do the scheduling#or saying 'oh we should write this all down somewhere' then not contributing at all aside from maybe three#of a group of up to 7 active people#sometimes 9!#I'm just sick of feeling like this#like I'm being ignored#like I'm the only one putting in effort#like I almost never get back what I put in#it makes me doubt myself so bad#my own skills- my personality- all of it#I can't even get one server to respond to me trying to set up times to talk to them or play the damn game we made the server for anymore

Hiii, discovered your fics on AO3 and they’re very my jam! If you’re still taking requests, could I suggest something where Jason rescues you, an angsty hurt/comfort? Maybe they’re pining for each-other and maybe confront/confess their feelings, or are already together, up to you.
No worries if not 😊😊 Thanks for the good words ❤️🖤
Hey I know you! Thanks for leaving nice comments over yonder 🥰 Idk if I really delivered on this prompt but I hope you like it anyway lol 😅 I combined this prompt with another I received about Jason and the reader fighting before the reader is hurt/kidnapped.
jason todd x fem!reader. tw: creepy men, crime alley, injured reader, jason shoots people (🎶whatta mighty good man🎶)
****
"If you don't know who this is, you shouldn't be fucking calling. Leave a message after the beep or whatever."
Beeeep!
"Jay, it's me. Can we please talk? You can't ignore me forever. I want us to fix this. I—" You swallow hard. "I miss you."
You sigh, rubbing your forehead as you think of what to say. You've already left three unanswered messages. There's no more for you to say. You just want things to be fixed.
You want your best friend back.
"Okay. Call me when you can."
You hang up and pocket your phone.
The fight was stupid. Jason doesn't respond well to being pushed, but you pushed him anyway. You wanted to know where he disappeared to at night. You were sick of the secrets, of always feeling like you were three steps behind, left in the dark.
If you really cared about me, you would tell me where you go.
Jason had stilled, expression cold.
I don't owe you anything.
Your voice had turned wobbly then.
Jay, don't I mean anything to you? I want you to trust me, I want this to be a normal friendship!
He'd put on his jacket and collected the few things he left in your apartment.
You're right. You deserve normal.
You haven't spoken since. At first, you thought Jason left for a few hours to cool down. So you gave him space.
But then hours turned to days, and now it's been a full week and a half since you'd fought. Last night, you broke down and cried. This is it. You've lost him for good.
Part of you fears the reality is darker than him just leaving. You've long suspected that whatever Jason goes out to do is probably illegal since he's always out at night.
What if you're called down to the police station to identify a body?
All those things left unsaid. Jason will never know you love him.
Screw this. You're going to his apartment.
It's late. It's really late, and this is actually not the best idea to carry out at eight o'clock at night in Crime Alley. There's a reason Jason always insists on hanging out at your apartment or at a cafe.
A man whistles at you down the street. "Goin' somewhere, girlie?"
This was a bad idea. Jason might be the one who has to ID a body tonight.
You can't remember which of these apartments is his. But you can't call him. He can't know you're here, not yet.
"You shouldn't be here, lady!" a kid shouts at you from a fire escape. "He don't like new people on his turf!"
You don't take the time to figure out who the kid means. Crime Alley is known for, well, crime. The sooner you can locate Jason's apartment, the better.
A group of men light cigarettes down the road. You pause and turn around. In the process, you stumble over a garbage can.
That instantly draws their attention.
"Well, what have we here?" one jeers. "You lost, sweetie?"
You run.
You don't care if it makes you look afraid—you are afraid, and you're beyond caring. You shouldn't have come here.
You turn abruptly. You have no idea where you're going, but maybe if you act like you do, you'll throw them off. You take another turn, then another, and you look behind you to check if—
Wham!
You crash into a body. A muscled body, one that forces you backwards.
White, glowing eyes that smolder inside a red helmet meet your own.
Jason's never warned you about the Red Hood. He just tells you to stay away from the area altogether. You don't really need to be warned about Hood anyway. You know what he's about. You know you've probably just sealed your fate tonight.
"What the fuck?" he asks, modulated voice rough.
"I'm sorry," you babble. "Please don't hurt m—"
Gunshots ring out, and you realize you've just stumbled into an active gunfight. With Red Hood.
Fuck your luck.
The gunmen have spotted you, and they take great pleasure in using you as a distraction; they fire at you instead of Hood.
He shields you with his body, blocking the bullets. It works until a flash grenade is thrown, and you're separated from Hood, ears ringing. You hit the ground hard from the impact, scraping your hands and arms.
Someone's arm wraps around your neck, and you're suddenly dragged backward. You scream, scratching at the arm, and a fist thumps your head. You blink at the pain, too dazed to keep fighting.
"We had a deal, Hood!" your captor shouts, arm tightening around your neck. "Let us go or she dies!"
"Negation's over," Red Hood snarls, and shoots all four men.
You cry as the shot echoes too close to your face and for a moment, you fear you've been shot too. The now dead man slips off of you, collapsing in a heap on the ground.
Your ankle protests when you step on it. In the chaos of the fight, you hadn't realized you sprained it. You trip and fall on your butt, scrambling away from the pooling blood.
"What are you doing here?" Hood growls at you, stalking closer.
You start to cry, edging backward.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt your fight, please d-don't kill me—"
You press down hard on your wrist and that hurts more than your ankle. You cry harder at the pain, grabbing your wrist.
Red Hood gets closer, and you try to scramble away with one arm and one leg. He kneels down and holds your good arm in place so you can't move.
"I'm sorry!" you say again, tears thick on your lashes.
"Fuck," Hood says roughly, and unlocks his helmet.
Your eyes widen as he pulls it off.
"J—"
"I told you to never come to this area, and you come alone, in the fucking dark, without a weapon? What the hell is wrong with you?" Jason snarls.
"Please don't yell at me," you whisper, covering your face with your hands.
You're shaking, adrenaline turning your stomach. A moment later, you throw up.
"Shit," Jason says and puts a hand on your stomach to help you sit back up. "Shit, I'm an asshole. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to yell."
"I thought you died," you say, daring to look at him. "You weren't answering my calls, and you only go out at night. I thought..."
Jason immediately looks avalanched by guilt. He cradles you to his chest.
"Fuck. I'm sorry. I should've—I thought it would be better, leaving."
"I didn't want you to leave," you cry, arms curling around his neck. "I love you so much, Jay. I was so scared. Don't leave me again."
Jason's breath hitches. You freeze, suddenly sure you've screwed it all up.
"Jay—"
"Y'love me?" he asks, cupping your cheek.
You nod emphatically.
"Even though I'm..." He gestures to the helmet.
"I'm just happy you're alive," you say. "I missed you so much, Jason."
His arms tighten around you. "God, I missed you too, baby. I was going crazy not talking to you. I'm sorry I ignored you. Wasn't right of me. But don't ever do this again, okay? If I hadn't been here—"
He takes a shuddering breath and kisses your neck. You nod against his shoulder.
"I promise. Just don't shut me out again, please."
Jason's quiet for a moment. You can feel him thinking.
"This isn't gonna be normal," he says. "If-if we do this. This is part of me. Who I am."
"I don't care," you say. "I love you, Jay. Every part. Whatever that entails."

once upon a time he was a cat
there was never a moment to think about anything except work, and maybe about groceries and bills (but even those things normally hit you at two o'clock in the morning, leading you to check your phone and make make amendments to your schedule in a panicked state). there was never any room for a cat. until there was.
of course there just had to be an adorable kitty, at most maybe a couple of years old, lean and with jet black fur that was surprisingly shiny for an abandoned cat, sitting square in the middle of a cardboard box on the side of the street that formed a part of your regular path and commute to and from work. in the morning, you had locked eyes with the cat, heart bleeding and hurting for the poor creature but secretly hoping that someone else would take it - you couldn't take care of it, could you? in the evening, you were huffing and puffing with the cardboard box in your hands and the cat happily meowing, its tail stretched out upwards into a chimney pipe, slightly tilted to the side at the very end. you read somewhere that it meant the cat was happy, so you were going to take that as a good sign.
sat on the floor at the entrance to your apartment, you eyed the beautiful creature as it kept on purring and trying to hop out of the box and towards you, while you were insistent on keeping it in, lifting a cardboard flap repeatedly in an effort to prevent it from jumping. so. now you had a cat. there was nothing in the box, and on the outside, in horrific scrawl was a message suggesting whoever took the kitty either "kept him, or throw him away, whatever". non-humans. "that's who your previous owners were, right kitty?" you mumbled to no one in particular, but it seemed that the cat picked up on your speech and inched closer to you, ears moving like disks to pick up signals. "so you are a he, yeah?" a meow. so you were right. at least the beasts from this cat's past got one thing right. "do you have a name? actually… you know what do you want a… new name?" you were fast on the attachment scale, you realised. it had been barely a few minutes and you were already trying to name the cat who you had not even checked for diseases, nor had any basic facilities to take care of him. but he was more than excited by the prospect, and mewled in what sounded like gratitude. you began to list off names, eventually boring the kitty, and he started to falter in his enthusiasm. all until one name rang a bell.
"Mars?"
and that was how you ended up with a black cat named Mars.
by the power of actually having to shake paws with a cat, and you promising to get him quality snacks, you managed to get Mars checked at the vet who confirmed everything was fine, and was equally as amazed as you that he was so well groomed and neat. while you knew you did not have much of a right to do this, your inner pride still swelled and, to yourself, you said that 'yes, my Mars is really neat and handsome'.
you took to addressing Mars as 'your handsome boy' and that seemed to wake him up and get him speeding towards you faster than anything else could. also 'the prettiest star' and 'my universe' and 'marvellous Mars' all worked wonders.
at the same time, he was shy, as if he did not want to disturb you with his antics. always tip-toeing around you as silently as a cat could (which was very silent, to the point where he jumpscared you a couple of times but that is okay because excuse me did you see his precious face????) and never taking up much space, even though… hello? Mars? you are a cat?? he would rarely ever hop on any surfaces unless you explicitly told him to do so - this had left you convinced that your cat was well-versed in human-speak. he never meowed for food until you had told him to vocalise and tell you if he was very hungry, and gave him a rundown of his eating schedule and how it was important that he drank water. he was the politest cat you had ever met, while at the same time his timidness made you wonder if you were in any way intimidating. not once did Mars ever enter your bedroom, even though you left the door wide open for him, preferring to crash on the couch or on the floor of some other room. the first couple of times you joked about it saying "are you scared you'll see something, Marsy?" but when your cat actually looked away and hunched over, you were convinced that you hit the nail on the head, and that you were probably either hallucinating or were slowly turning into Doctor Dolittle.
but you were persistent. and insistent. and you took the little blanket with kuromi decor on it from him (yes this was that extreme of a situation) and put it at the edge of your bed. climbing in and covering yourself in the many layers, you looked at the terrified figure hovering at the entrance to the room, boba eyes as wide as saucers. he kept on looking at the blanket, then at you, then again at the blanket, then again at you, probably wondering if he could snatch the thing and make a run for it. you were on the verge of giving up at this point. sleepy, with work tomorrow, you were not about to engage in a whole war with your cat.
"you know what, if you want to stay, you can stay. i promise i will not hurt you, nor will i push you out. if you want to come closer, do. if you just want to take the blanket and leave, you can do that. your choice. i won't be hurt. i promise. you are already super brave and i love you either way. okay, Mars?" he did not respond, frozen in place. "my handsome boy?" his head twisted towards you. "precious?" a blink. another blink. one paw in front of the other. "are you actua- wow! I am so proud of you my baby! my brave boy!" you were cooing praises at him like there was nothing else in the world that existed as soon as he hopped onto the bed, foregoing the blanket and making a beeline towards your face, as though that was his read source of comfort. he was afraid to look away, focusing on your every expression as you patted his head and let him nuzzle into you. "you are so so brave, you know that? i know this is hard, so if at any point you want to leave, you can, okay?" purring louder than a powerdrill was the response you received. along with kitty cuddles through the whole night. because apparently, your cat was a koala all along.
and even in his cuddles he was gentle. you did not think you had ever seen him use his claws… ever. except maybe on a few toys but as soon as you were in sight poof gone, soft Mars activated. he was like your personal heater, careful to wrap himself closer to you not to push you out, but to instead complete whatever curled up position you were lying in. if you were stretched out to the side, he would find a place. if you were in a ball? he would find a place again. if you were lying down straight for whatever reason? give him a couple of nights to get comfortable, and now you had the ultimate cat comforter either on you, or around your head. and yes, you were blessed with a cat who barely shed, somehow. some of your friends who had cats almost cursed you when they found out, but you only smiled, looking at your lockscreen. nowadays, even during the workday you were thinking of Mars at least a little bit.
maybe you were spoiling him a little bit, but it was too adorable to see him watching you play legend of zelda or animal crossing on your nintendo switch. and when he saw that you got a gift from a friend in the form of a lego set? well. you were literally afraid to open the box because of how hyper your cat got - perhaps not today…
you fell into the most pleasant routines with Mars, from waking up and going to bed together, to eating breakfast and then 'parting ways' for you to attend to human business and him to his 'cat business'. it was cute. it made your head sing. you were happier than you had ever been. all thanks to that one random day. one random box. and one black haired kitty who radiated sunshine.
it was the eve of the one year anniversary of you being the proud owner of, or how you preferred to say it, the best friend of 'L/n Mars', and you were as sure as his ears were pointy in wanting to go all out with your celebration - minus the guests (because the last time you had invited a male friend of yours over your cat turned into a whole other creature and then sulked for at least three days until you took a day off work and called it 'Mars day', but you just assumed it was some territorial thing). you had set up little themed decorations, found a cute little headband with the number '1' that is suitable and safe for a cat and would not hurt his head, got a matching, human-sized one for yourself, made a whole dinner for your favourite kitty from scratch - the ingredients all checked with the vet who you now casually called by first name because you did not dare ever give Mars anything that might harm him and would rather panic call the doctor.
you were sat at the coffee table, so that it would be easier for Mars to reach the food (you set pillows on the floor for extra comfort, for which he thanked you with a loud meow), and had your respective mini-cakes set out in front of either of you. you had given up on making him ever eat kitty food - another peculiar quirk of your cat, so the 'cake', which was more a protein gift than anything, was fully home made. but Mars was happy. more than happy. if cats could smile, that was exactly what he was doing, right at you, squinting his eyes, threatening to hop over the table. you told him to wait, and quietly whispered your gratitude to him. much to your delight, he waited and listened, clinging onto every word.
"you know, i really think you are an angel. before you i was quite… how do i say this… life was just passing by. and now i look forward to it. and to be able to see you every day, to have fun days with you, to talk with you… all of that brings me so much joy and i hope that i can make you at least a little bit happy too. i wish you could tell me what you want, of course, but i really do think you know what i am thinking, what i am saying. and i hope that i am right in saying that i can understand you a bit too. you really are the smartest, most precious Mars. light of my life. i love you so much, my gorgeous, and here is to many years more, cheers~" you clinked your glass with orange juice with his water bowl, and giggled when he took a couple of neat laps to match with your gulps, only to lick his lips and hop off the pillows and go under the table.
in a matter of seconds, he reappeared at your side of the table, and poked at your lap with his paw, looking up at you with his bead-like eyes that seemed to contain the whole universe in them. you pat him between his ears, scratched under his chin, delighting him, and then stretched out your legs, gesturing towards your legs to signify that lap-napping season was open. Mars did not need to be told twice, and soon enough you had a black cat curled up on your lap, purring away, mewling a couple of times when you started eating to remind you that he was hungry too.
"so you want me to feed you now, too? aren't you cheeky-"
as if you could refuse him. you would be lying if you said you could. so there you were, on the floor and feeding Mars, quiet music playing from your phone, not quite sure if you could be any happier.
"i love you."
quite the contrast to what happened the next morning.
suddenly he is a catboy
when you wake up, Mars is nowhere in sight, and even when you call him, to which he would reply with at least a meow, you are only met with silence. you are alarmed, but wait in bed for just a little longer to see if Mars would come to you. nothing. you call again, 'pspspsps' him, all to no avail. only the breeze and the birds outside, along with inexplicable rustling from another room in your apartment. you raise an eyebrow and prop yourself up on your elbows. more rustling. a door opening, which sounds like the closet where you kept your warmer clothes. what is going on? another door closing. footsteps? you are on high alert. grabbing your phone and the light saber model which you had made a while back and kept safe by your bed, as it turned out exactly for this kind of moment, you head out to face whatever, or whoever is the source of the sound.
you are stealth itself, rounding the corner with weapon in hand, ready to face the attacker - or so you thought. until you come face to face with the tall, young man dressed head to toe in your clothing, namely a tracksuit that you had accidentally gotten in the wrong size and then somehow ended up being refunded for without returning the item, and a beanie that he had pulled over his head. spikes of jet black hair are poking from under the hat in all directions, and his deep brown eyes are widened in shock as he freezes on the spot and stares back at you.
"so, what the hell are you doing in my clothes?"
"y/n- i-"
"HOW DO YOU KNOW MY NAME?"
"i can explain-"
"nope do NOT get closer what-"
"Mars…. i…. it's me… your uh… cat."
"what?"
he looks embarrassed beyond belief, and crumbles to the floor, sliding until his back is against the wardrobe. wrapping his arms around his knees, he is scared to look up at you, worried that you would never recognise him, never accept him. this is exactly what he has been dreading all this time, and was heartbroken when the curse was finally broken, despite him technically being free now. he does not want to be away from you. this is his home. you are his home. you are the one who showed him true love.
"if it is okay… may i take this beanie off for a second?"
"i didn't even let you put it on in the first place," he winces. you feel a little bad, but hold your ground. his eyes sparkle in a way that is a little too familiar, reminding you of a certain someone. the cat who he mentioned. your precious cat. Mars.
"okay… here goes…" he slides the material off, making you gasp. hidden under the beanie is a pair of cat ears, fluffy, the same colour as his hair, and twitching as he adjusts after having flattened them to minimise their visibility.
"yo what."
"i have… a tail too."
"WHAT?"
he is not joking. a black tail to go with the black ears, sliding out from under the oversized hoodie. you are not sure what happened next, but you wake up on the sofa with the man, who you are now guessing is some human cat hybrid version of Mars fanning you with a magazine.
"I AM SORRY, Y/N PLEASE WAKE UP I AM SO- oh you are awake thank goodness i missed you i am really so sorry…" he drops the magazine almost instantly, leaning towards you and wrapping you in a warm embrace, much to your surprise. you yelp, but the softness, as well as his ears moving in the cutest way while he hugs you make you accept the gesture, and return it.
you never thought you would hear a grown man purr exactly like a cat, but here you are. well, you never thought you would have a catboy in your apartment either, but this is already happening so...
"so, Mars?"
"yeah?"
"you have some explaining to do."
after what turned out to be at least two hours of you and him going back and forth about what had unfolded and what was the history of the young catboy's state, you find out that, in reality, his name is Park Seonghwa, and that he is a demon, of all things. that is right, a demon. set out to curse and haunt and spread sin. but no, he is cast out of hell because he is too kind and soft. and so he had been cursed to be a cat, until for a full year, someone could give him their whole heart, their full love. while he explains this to you with a fondness unlike anything you had ever seen before in your life (except in what you perceived from cat Mars's eyes), you begin to blush, realising that all this time, you were talking to and confessing to him. Seonghwa. this handsome man who was always by your side and-
oh. and he was sleeping in the same bed as you. just great. you flush an even deeper shade and cover your face. and he had been jealous, not territorial, when your friend had come over.
"are you okay?"
"so okay."
"hug?"
"i, uh-"
"you give really good hugs."
"Park Seonghwa do you really want to make me suffer?"
"I AM SO SORRY ARE YOU HURT? DID I SAY SOMETHING WRONG I AM SO SORRY?!"
"no you are too cute. come here"
catboy!hwa headcanons
is initially cautious because well… you got used to him being a cat and now suddenly you have a whole man with cat ears and a tail walking around your house. he catches on to the fact that you are kind of shy around him too, but he does not push it, at least not straight away.
because that would mean that he has to get over his own shyness towards you extra quickly, and that proves to be difficult when it hits him that, well, he is now a person too, and you are a person, and he fell in love with you, and you told him you loved him before - on occasion he just walks around blushing with his ears pressed flat to his head but don't point it out he is already struggling ;~;
you might have to be the one to initiate the contact again because he is literally too scared to overstep anything and everything - even when you bought him his own first few sets of clothes as a 'human edition anniversary gift'. you approach him to give him a hug and he groups up as if he is about to dive into a pool, hands to his chest, eyes wide. but is he moving anywhere? no. does his purring give him away? yes. after that the two of you gently reintroduce physical touch and it makes you realise just how much you miss Mars, particularly because Seonghwa is still a little distant for understandable reasons. But you both are trying your best.
if you massage his head and scratch behind his hears he will melt - his favourite thing in the world is having his head rest on your lap with his eyes closed while you ruffle his hair really slowly and run your fingers through it.
desperately misses the times when you would call him handsome and pretty and smart, and every single affectionate word in the universe so he tries his damn hardest to get you to do that again, first by trying to be nice and helping you around the house, and when the results are not to his satisfaction and when cuddle sessions are pretty much the norm, but words of affection aren't… he pouts and openly asks you why you don't call him that anymore. you squeak the words out but the reaction makes every next attempt easier than anything.
he is scared to approach your room again, though, and this time you say nothing because well, this is a whole other territory. a couple of months pass before you consider and that is because you find him sleeping on the floor a couple of times, curled up with is tail covering his face a little, and he said it was because "he is scared otherwise and here is safe". so you take out a futon for now, but he is more than happy with this progress.
he learns how to cook both from you and from tutorials online, and then starts remembering what he used to cook a long time before - you basically stop cooking altogether because now he is insistent on waking you up with breakfast, packing you lunch and greeting you with dinner. he sometimes gets a bit too experimental, but you do not mind it too much because at least he cleans everything up.
you think you can ignore the lego in the corner of your living room? no :) it is a date now. a lego building date. for four hours straight. on the floor. him running this ship like you run your team at work. and his focus, his professional approach to the matter is a little too attractive, you admit to yourself. and somewhere along the way that translates into you planting a kiss on Hwa's cheek. this is the only time over the whole four hours that he drops the pieces he is holding in his hands, gazing at you, not quite sure if what he felt just now was real or not.
but nope, judging by your attempts to avoid his gaze this was very real. so he gets real bold real quick and guess who finds themselves trapped by two tones arms on either side of you, back on the floor, a curious and mischievous face a mere inch away? that's right, you. wants to build a starship, accidentally builds a relationship along with it - a major win.
there isn't ever a platonic stage really. an extensive awkward stage? sure. a roommates-maybe stage? sure. two people who like each other? sure. and now, after many months of you settling into a new routine, two people who love each other and keep telling each other that.
he finds a job that he can do remotely, and in this way remains mainly at home and around the neighbourhood with his beloved hobbies and balancing you out. in this way he now starts to sneak support to pay bills and to buy you little gifts (as a little apology for taking your clothes sometimes - read often)
it is not Hwa's fault that he misses you very quickly. it just happens. then one thing leads to another and he is lying on your shared bed hugging a hoodie of yours. eventually that leads to him dragging a couple more items out of your wardrobe and making a little nest out of them - only then does his worry go down and he goes for a nap while curled up in a ball.
when he knows that you should be arriving soon he starts walking up to the window, then away then back to the window, and away again. cycle repeats itself until he can spot you from a distance, and then he just stays by the window.
he helps you redecorate and rearrange your apartment, considering that you now have a 5'10'' human cat instead of one you can hold with two hands, and shocks you with just how many details he remembers about you, down to allergies, what colours irritate you when it comes to interiors, what plants you had to give away to keep him 'in cat form' safe - even though yes, he would not eat them, but how were you to know that?
he remembers all your special days, and hopes you remember his, too. thankfully, he knows his own birthday and using cat mathematics, converted from demon to cat to human. and so, now you can celebrate him wholeheartedly, only this time that also involves you taking him to go have a picnic under the cherry blossoms.
you and Seonghwa go to pick out and buy him a phone together, and you spend a whole day teaching him how to use it. soon enough your own phone goes off with notifications from him. he sends you fun things throughout the day and if he is busy, he sends you a selfie or a heartfelt message.
likes to curl up and read poetry with you. doesn't matter if out loud of in silence. what matters to him is that you are close. and good luck trying to get away - he has a tail and it is wrapped around your leg like an alert system so that he can tackle you right back to the couch or the bed. because it is you and Seonghwa time.
occasionally sings you lullabies that he either overheard somewhere or remembers, breaking into a smile when you wriggle closer to him and fall asleep, stress melting away from your every feature.
overall you are now living with a catboy Hwa cast out of hell for being too nice, who also turned out to be a big nerd, with heart eyes for you, sweater paws instead of actual paws, the occasional feline habits still coming through (like him rubbing his face against your shoulder, or your own face, or him hissing when frustrated or threatened, or him having the widest stretch in the morning, or… actually he is still part cat so, you have to deal with it), and all the love to give. thankfully not in the form of something he hunted. he buys birds at a store now. meant to be cooked. human-friendly.
he brings you a limited edition starship instead. if you display it he will look at you like he is falling in love with you all over again - if that is even possible because that would mean stopping loving you now, and that is the one thing he cannot do <3

Have a great day :)
Five Hargreeves x F! Reader
I love this idea! Smut, Fluff, Fake Dating
Important Information: Five and the reader are both over 18 years old. This is a separate universe from TUA! If you like this AU then try reading this....
Task Finder
You wanted to murder the Handler–like jump over the glass desk and wrap your hands around her throat, squeezing them down. You imagined her esophagus twitching underneath your palm, a smirk lifting your lips, the weak slaps to push your hands away, the life leaving her-
"You can leave now" The Handler's words snapped you out of your murderous gaze. Five began to stride to the door. However, your feet reluctantly stayed in place.
"No, hell no, fuck no, I won't, I can't" Your words didn't seem to faze her. She shrugged, looking back at the door. You thought about getting on your knees and begging but remembered Five was still in the room. "He can just kill them!" You crossed your arms, a small pout tugging at your bottom lip.
"You're doing the task, no exceptions. Now leave!" The Handler closed her eyes, ignoring your previous question.
You didn't want to act like a bratty child but fuck you wanted to throw a mini tantrum in the bathroom. Five's eyes kept side-eyeing you, his lips were pressed in a thin line, his jaw tense. Going on a mission with Five...cool. Going on a mission with Five and having to fake date?! Everything would've been fine if you didn't have a burning infatuation for him.
"Is working with me that bad?" He made a snarky grin but his voice sounded hurt. You looked up at the fluorescent office lights, shaking your head.
"No, it's just because we're friends and we have to pretend to date for the whole day" You pinched your temples, thinking about forced kisses, subtle touches, and eye contact.
"Don't worry too much about it, darling" He put on this fake charming voice, looping an arm around your shoulders. You grimaced pushing him away.
"What's wrong, baby?" He squeezed your cheeks together, making your lips inflate. You stopped walking down the hallway, trying to avert your gaze somewhere else. But the proximity between you two made you pear up at him through your eyelashes.
"Can you stop with the pet names?" You let out a stifled chuckle, your words muffled by your plush lips. Five smiled, his tongue darting out on his lips, he leaned in closer to the point where you could smell his expensive cologne. It wasn't strong but it made your mind go hazy.
You gulped, fingernails digging into your sweaty palm. "We need to practice" His voice warmed your lips. You couldn't tell if he was talking about the pet names or closing the distance between you two. You slightly leaned up, only a few centimeters, testing the waters.
His thumb crossed your bottom lip, pressing it down. His cocky response was caught in his throat. And so was yours. Still, you managed to mumble a quiet "Five"
Time was moving too slow, his lips ghosted yours before he clicked his tongue, letting you go. He continued his walk towards the elevator at the end of the hall. "Let's go" He snickered. You blinked rapidly, trying to process what happened.
"Right..." You whispered underneath your uneven breathing.
________________________
"4'o'clock" Five pulled you closer. You looked to the right, scanning for a man with a brown slick back and a curled mustache. You squeezed Five's arm, as the man walked over to you. "I'm right here, stay calm" His thumb rubbed circles into your exposed skin.
"Are you enjoying the party?" His voice was rusty and slurred. Alcohol coming from his body.
"Yes, thank you for inviting us, Mr. Houghton" You smiled, unconsciously leaning into Five. "I and my husband were interested in your private collection" When you finished your sentence his eyes darkened and the foolish beer emotions disappeared.
"Are you cops?" He let out an obnoxious laugh, looking at your expression for hesitation. His hand went to touch your arm. You allowed him, forcing another smile.
"Never in my 38 years of living, I ever thought of being one of those hooligans" You laughed, biting at the inside of your cheek. Five bit back a laugh when he heard your fake age and minor accent.
"You seem very curious for a woman. My private collection is more of a man's thing, eh?" Mr. Houghton gestured towards Five, waiting for an agreed hum. Five's arm rested at your waist, if he could pull you any closer he 100% would.
You took in a sharp inhale, your brain rebooting. Mr. Houghton seemed to notice, his eyebrows arching at the awkward PDA. "How long have you been married?" Shit, he was quizzing you. You prayed that you or Five wouldn't slip up.
"10 long happy years" Five lifted your hand to his mouth, his lips pressing against the silver band around your finger. You looked at his action, the temperature of your cheeks rising. A faint rosy tint covered his cheeks also.
Only if he knew...
" I couldn't even stand the first one" Mr. Houghton let out a loud laugh, putting a hand on his abdomen.
Five grimaced, intertwined your hands, rubbing small circles on the back of your hand. "Well, I married her for a reason: I love her" Five leaned down pressing a kiss on your forehead. For a second, you imagined a scenario if you were married, him whispering corny sweet nothings late at night, subtle glances, him taking special days off at the commission just to spend time with you.
"Any children?" He queried, the space between his eyebrows creasing in disgust.
You bit the corner of your lip, a little excited to learn if Five would ever think about having children. However, he was glancing at you like it was your choice to make. "Not yet. We want to enjoy the silence a bit longer" You wondered what Five would name his kids, maybe something unique but not too extreme.
"What's her favorite flower?" The questions started getting more personal. Shit. You thought about different flowers, hoping to telepathically send your true answer to Five.
"Magnolia, I got her a bouquet on her birthday" Five spoke without missing a beat. And that had to be the truest thing he's uttered since the shenanigan started. He gave you a bouquet of Magnolia flowers on your birthday and after one whiff of the plant, you fell in love.
From then he got you those flowers often, gave you special scented perfume, and even planted a Magnolia tree in your backyard. That was around 3 years ago, you were surprised he even still remembered.
"Where did you meet?" His nose scrunched, his eyes narrowing at the small hint of standstill.
Fuck. You had been working in the commission with Five for whose knows how long. Yet, you guys didn't meet there, you met at a coffee shop- no an office- no a— "17 years old, at a funeral of a mutual friend" Five's eyes remained on Houghton, keeping a tight smile.
You squinted your eyes, thinking back to your teenage years. There was definitely a funeral but you don't remember Five being— oh shit he was right?! You were beyond flabbergasted, your memories were foggy but you could tell Five's face structure apart from any hazy person.
The elderly man hummed for a bit, sticking a piece of brown stiff tobacco inside his mouth. He chewed on it for a while, eyes scanning the ceiling. " I need new colleagues, anyways" Mr. Houghton's voice was laced with alcoholic venom. He trudged towards the opening leading outside of the gallery.
"Brace yourself, try to not think about killing him too soon" Five whispered. He seems to skip over your shocked expression. Nonetheless, he put his finger underneath your slack jaw, pushing it up, his thumb rubbed your lip as he did at the office.
"How...what the hell?" You were squeezing your eyes, hoping that he would transform into some type of cyborg. Your throat urged you to take a fresh breath of air.
"What can I say? You're hard to forget" His lips stayed parted like he wanted to say more. His eyes flickered towards your pressed mouth. You felt warm under him, like you would melt if his eyed you any longer. You wondered if he was able to see every insecurity from vision.
"Five" The words came out strained. You looked away, pushing his hand away, your heart filling your ears. Five murmured something incoherent, beginning to follow Houghton out of the room.
"Leave us" Mr. Houghton grumbled to the two bulky men standing in front of the burgundy door. The men scanned you like a fresh piece of meat. Five's hand twitched, reaching to grab your arm, he sent a glare at the nearest man. They huffed, taking heavy steps towards the unsupervised art gallery.
Houghton fiddled with a key, shoving it into the golden keyhole. When the door creaked open, he step aside, allowing you and Five to enter first. The room was small, with a chair in the middle of it and a large safe in front of it. Your hands balled into a tight fist when he closed the door.
He wobbled to the safe, twisting the lock several times. You slyly peered inside, seeing stacks of books, your stomach churned. "My newest edition" He let out a long groan, selecting the top book. He popped it open, holding it high so you both can see.
Multiple pictures of a tied-up woman (maybe even girls) were scattered across the page. Usually, bondage could have been a turn but there is no way these pictures were consented to. You gritted your teeth, hand rubbing the gun tucked under your dress.
Five beat you to it, removing his gun from the inside of your jacket, shooting him 4 times in his leg. He let out a scream, it echoing off the soundproof walls. You reached up the slit of your dress, snatching your gun. The barrel lined perfectly against Houghton's temple.
Five put the book back inside the safe along with a small shot glass of booze he's been hiding and several lit matches. The paper book covers caused a domino effect of flames. "NO!" Houghton choked out, his hand smearing his blood on the pant leg of his suit.
You removed the safety, teasingly dragging the head of the gun into his mouth. You cooed inside his ear, shoving the tough material down his throat. Five smirked in admiration and something more dark lurked beneath his pupils. "Crazy fucking cock-sucking whore" His filthy words were muffled by the gun.
You laughed holding back the hysteria before pulling the trigger. The sound blurred your ear drums, his body trashing came to a slow stop, and there was a thud as his head hit the floor. You stood up before the pool of blood could stain your skin.
You must've been staring at the lifeless body for too long because Five pulled you into him. He embraced you tightly, kissing your head. "He was a lunatic, you saved a lot of people" He sounded like he was trying to comfort you. You knew what he was saying was right but taking a life put pressure on your soul.
And Five knew this.
You looked up at him, batting your eyelashes. "You did so good" He rubbed your cheek, pulling your face up. You could taste his scent on your tongue. Your legs went weak while you strained yourself to hold back from smashing your lips on each other. The hand on your back was enough to make your mind go blank.
He was so close. A silent ache filled your lower abdomen. You gripped onto the front of his suit. He was lost in your eyes like there wasn't a decomposing body on the ground. Your lips were touching but neither of you dared to move.
Your mouth opened but you didn't say his name in a stern voice like usual. You just slowly breathed, relaxing in his touch. "We should go" His words tickled your face.
"Right..." You said however you made no move towards the door. Five gulped, like a character in a movie that knew staying in a particular situation would have bad consequences. If you pushed further, he would have no choice but to return the kiss. You thought about it for a while, basking in his stare.
Five wanted–no he needed you to say his name, stop him from doing something irreversible. His tongue swiped across bottom. It took a long time for you to realize this is Five, a commission's assassin, a cocky bastard, a teasing son-of-a-bitch-who-made-you-fall-in-love-too-early-in-your-life.
If you kissed him, he would laugh and act like you accidentally tripped on a rock. If you confessed to him, he would think you were drunk and mistaken him for your future husband.
You backed away, looking down at the rim of blood that had yet to reach your heels. You hurried out of the room, not waiting for Five to catch up. Rich people were still talking with soft classical music. You lifted the slit of your dress and grabbed the car keys, that were stuffed inside your garter belt.
The wind was icy, making you shiver, and the ruffles of your dress sway in the wind. Five walked out of the doors, his eyes burning holes at the back of your head. In your peripheral, his face was contorted in confusion.
You snorted under your breath, clicking the lock button on the car key, faint beeps came from the middle of the crowded parking lot. You wondered aimlessly towards Five's black car. "Are you driving?" You jiggled the keys at him.
"Y/N." He deadpanned, the rest of the sentence dying on his tongue.
"I kind of wanted to doze off in the back or something..." You hummed, unlocking the car, and opening the back seat door.
"Y/N-" You closed the door, his grumbling still seeped into the cracks of the car door. You tossed the keys in the front seat before laying down, exhaustion taking over your body.
Five's footsteps faltered, turning back around. He swung open the door, almost sitting on your legs if you didn't move them fast enough. He slammed the door shut, turning towards you. You sighed, scooting to make more room. Five didn't get the memo because his body hovered over you, hand moving up your leg to your waist, and he pulled you back down.
He was acting on some rapid impulse.
"Five?" You swallowed your confusion, looking at him almost connecting your lips, your hands helplessly by your side. He shook his head, throwing out apologies, his hand running threw his hair. You absentmindedly reached for his suit jacket again, tugging him back down.
It was contradicting your recent statement but it was worth it even if Five wouldn't acknowledge your stupid crush on him. You wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him in. He kissed like a starved animal, desperately scraping at your rising dress. His tongue poking around your mouth.
His teeth clashed with yours, heavy pants leaving your mouth. It made your insides clench around nothing when he pressed his hard groin into yours. His brown hair was making a small curtain around you two. His breath smelt like mint and expensive champagne.
Your fingernails dug into his scalp, quiet moans of his name leaving your lips. "Five" His lips moved messily on your lips, jaw, and neck. His fingers slid up your stockings, to your thin black undergarments. He found the oval-shaped damp spot and applied pressure to his rubbing.
You arched your back, fingers clawing for something to grasp. "You're driving me crazy" Five strained, his fingers pushing your panties to the side, his thick fingers dipping inside your hole. "Saying my..." He let out a guttural groan "Fuck—saying my name like that"
You felt like just the width of his fingers would tear you apart, he made strong efforts to pump his fingers back and forth. Your eyes fluttered shut, your tongue running dry. "Five...please" Bolts were forming at the base of your veins. Heart pulsing along with your hole.
Five hissed, bowing his head. He pulled out his fingers to palm his growing erection. He made lazy kisses on your breast, sucking at your clothed nipples. You squirmed, feeling wetness coat your inner thigh. "Can I?" His voice was hoarse but he managed to say it gently.
You waited for a moment, thinking about your angsty declaration. There was a part of you saying don't think anything of it, it's just a regular hookup. Then again you wanted to believe the soft look in his clouded eyes, the desperate holding back gaze. You wanted to believe that saying yes was going to lead to something worth more than car sex.
"Yes," The words were unsure of themselves. You tilted your head up, avoiding eye contact. Five took your hand, unhurriedly making you cup his sore boner. You swallowed the lump swelling in your throat, your finger tugged at his pants. Five allowed you to drag them down along with his boxers.
You peeked down, the tip of his hard cock was flushed red, the rest of the shaft leading to a darker tan. Your mouth watered at the sight of sticky precum building at the tip. You stretched your fingers to meet his girth, you stroked him softly, not wanting to hurt the fragile organ.
"Five...?" You continued moving your hand, gathering the slick from his tip.
"God–please" He whimpered, tossing his jacket off, and unfastening his tie. You wrapped your legs around his torso, bringing him closer. You moved your hand faster, pumping more of him. Your lips opened to speak but Five put a shaky finger over your mouth. "I'm going to cum if you keep talking"
You narrowed your eyes, hiding a laugh. You placed his cock near your entrance, rolling your hips so Five would get the none verbal message. He put a tense arm on the seat, and the spot to the right of your head dipped. You tried to move your eyes away from his face but fuck he was making your lungs stop functioning.
Your obscene thoughts were put to an end when he rammed his length inside you. You felt all the remaining air you had, leave your body. His grip on your hips was going to bruise. You couldn't form a complete thought before he started moving.
His cock was covered in your slick, a glistening ring forming at his base. He rutted into you with little concern with the force pushing the car. You felt your spirit rising from your body, your pounding heart canceling out the moans.
Fire was under your fingertips, shocks twirling in your stomach. You threw your head back, eyes losing their vision. "I need to feel you cum–on my cock" He muttered, regaining his composure. It all hit you like one wave.
Losing feeling in your muscles, a long whimper leaving your mouth, contractions erupting through your form, involuntary trembling circling your weak limbs. You sucked and pulled at Five's length, making him lean back, burying your hips into his.
He repeated your name along with frantic nonsense: "You are so perfect" "I've wanted to do this for so long" and "You feel so good inside". His hips stutter, making his nails dig into your hips. In the blink of an eye, he pulled out, spraying his cum on the inside of your thigh.
He twitched, massaging his dick, and more white beads dripped out. You tried to catch your breath in the steamy car. The smell of sex and cum filling your nostrils. Five wiped his semen off with his stranded jacket, tossing it back down again.
The weight of his body hovered over you again. He delicately pressed himself down, nuzzling his face into the crook of your neck. "You okay?" You wouldn't have noticed his calm words if you weren't paying attention to the awkward silence.
"Yeah...it was nice" You kept the smile to yourself, trying to get a peak of Five's face. He lifted, his face crinkled with a gasp.
"Well I thought it was breathtaking" He chuckled, seeing panic cross your face. Before you could take back your words, he pressed a kiss to your lips. You tried you move but your body was too tired.
"If we could do this again. I would marry you in a heartbeat" He mumbled, grinning.

Chapter 2. Birthday girl
The bright rays of the sun hit your closed eyelids, making you wince and cover yourself with a blanket. But because of the sultry summer heat, you became instantly hot. When you opened your eyes, the first thing you saw was your own personal open diary. Being half asleep, you forgot that you were writing in it all night. In a panic, you closed it and hid it under the pillow, hoping that mom didn't come into your room.
After you got yourself in order, you went out to the living room, but mom wasn't home. She left a note saying that breakfast was on the table, and she would be back in a few hours. You sighed.
What a nice beginning of your birthday.
Mom returned home closer to two o'clock in the afternoon. You noticed how her, all happy and cheerful, was getting out of the purple car with bags.
You knew whose car it was. You didn't like it.
The next hours flew by quickly. Your mom all happy entered house, you rushed into her arms. A million kind words, congratulations, kisses on the forehead. And most importantly — your gift. A minimalistic purple dress, made as if specifically for your figure. It fit you perfectly, hugging your waist and breasts.
Closer to evening, you and your mom were ready. She put on makeup, not too bright, but it was unusual for you to see her with lipstick and mascara. She was wearing her favorite skirt, which she always wore for walks with you when you were little. A light beige jacket complemented her look.
“Okay, now we’ll wait for a taxi.” said woman, approaching you.
The car pulled up a few minutes later while you were standing and discussing the upcoming evening. You and mom got in the back seats and the driver started the car. The whole ride you couldn't leave the thought of where mom got the money for a taxi. And when you got out of the car, your confusion only increased, because she didn’t pay driver as he only smiled goodbye.
It appeared to the eye. The most famous pizzeria in your whole town: “Freddy Fazbear's Pizza”. It looked like an ordinary diner, but you knew why it caused such a stir among children and adults. It was because of those animatronics, which, to tell the truth, caused you strange feelings. These robots were thousands of times taller and bigger than you, and their design always made you shiver. Despite the fact that you spent your entire childhood in this pizzeria, because you had to hide from your father somewhere, you still couldn't get used to their appearance. But the children who came here, apparently, were satisfied with everything.
When you entered the pizzeria, you immediately noticed that… Nothing has changed here. It was strange, because Mr. Afton was always busy with drawings, some projects related to this place. What can you say, he literally lived here, disappearing into his office day and night. The place was filled with people, mostly little kids, who happily jumped around animatronics, trying to somehow talk to them. Most of the tables were occupied, you started looking around the pizzeria in search of an empty seat.
“And here you are!” voice of William Afton called out to you. You jumped in surprise, causing him to grin. “Oh, what happened? Did I really scare you that much?”
“Mr. Afton, good evening!” your mom shook his hand.
“Hello, [your mom’s name].” he looked at her with a smile and, turning around, went to an single table, telling you to follow him. “ I chose this place especially for our dear birthday girl.”
Your cheeks flushed from such attention. You smiled and you sat down at the table. Your mom picked up the menu, but mr. Afton shook his head.
“Excuse me, ladies, but I have reserved today's choice for myself. In honor of your birthday, we offer you the best pizza and drinks of the diner!” he clapped his hands, imitating joy. “You won’t be disappointed.”
With these words, he disappeared from sight, leaving into the crowd of children and adults. You looked at your mom, who was just glowing with an abundance of joy and happiness. She looked so carefree, happy as a child, and you laughed at the thought of who has a birthday here.
Half an hour later, a nice and friendly waitress brought a huge hot cheese pizza with an incredible flavor. Smile didn’t leave your face as the look of this pizza was so good that you noticed the envious look of the children at the near tables.
You and mom started eating. After a while, William joined you both. Sitting down at your table, he waved to the waitress, and she instantly brought you three glasses and a bottle of champagne. This surprised you, but you decided not to show it, continuing to smile.
“You know, this is a children's place and alcohol is not welcome here.” Afton began, pouring champagne into glasses. “but in honor of the coming of age of Y/n, I decided that its possible to break this rule.” he smiled, looking at you.
“Mr. Afton, you are right, such a day should definitely be celebrated!” your mother has already taken a full glass, the same thing was done by the man himself. Both adults looked at you expectantly. You laughed nervously and also took the glass in your hand.
“Happy birthday, Y/n!” exclaimed William and you clinked glasses. It was your first experience with alcohol, bringing a glass to your lips and drinking the liquid from it, you immediately winced at the taste, although the smell was quite tolerable.
You spent the remaining half hour at the same table, talking about absolutely any topic, remembering how you spent your childhood in this pizzeria, and William also talked about his eldest son. You laughed at the stories about Michael, because he was your best friend from school, and he always positioned himself as a cool, dangerous macho in front of you, and in William's stories he was just a silly boy.
Time flew by so fast that you didn't even notice how all the people disappeared. Looking at the clock, you saw that it was already late evening, which means the pizzeria closed its doors to visitors, however, this didn’t alarm either Afton or your mother. They were sitting at the table, having a nice conversation about something, until her phone rang.
“Excuse me for a moment.”
You were left alone with him. All your joy in one moment disappeared somewhere, giving way to anxiety. You began nervously touching the hem of your dress, afraid to start a conversation.
“You look absolutely gorgeous in that dress.” William broke the silence. You looked up at him and smiled sweetly, thanking him. “Yeah… after all, I have a sense of style.” he chucked, taking a sip of champagne.
“Did you buy this dress?”
“This is a gift for your coming of age.” he noticed your confused look and added: “yes, I paid for the taxi too, honey."
Those nicknames again… This stupid pinky blush appears on your cheeks again. All you can do is keep smiling stupidly.
“I really liked this dress, Mr. Afton!”
Your conversation was interrupted by your mother, running up to you with worried look on her face.
“Mr. Afton, please take Y/n home, I am urgently called to work.” then your smile instantly disappeared. You looked at Mom, pleading with her to stay. “Oh, hun, I'm sorry, but it's very urgent. I'll be home early in the morning, don't wait for me and go to bed.” after kissing your forehead one last time, she ran out of the pizzeria.
William's car isn't exactly small, but it's not huge either. Anxious thought didn’t leave your head that he drank alcohol and got behind the wheel, you hoped that you would get home safely. In general, ideally you should have been sitting in the back seat, but it was occupied by some things.
“Don't be so nervous, y/n." his voice sounded so calm. “You've known me since childhood, why are you so scared?”
Damn, was your anxiety really that noticeable?
“Sorry, I haven't been myself lately…”
“You’ve always been a little scared girl.” you frowned at such statements, you’re not sure whether he was mocking or showing real emotions. “I feel so sorry for you, such a hard childhood.”
At end, you arrived without incident. His car is parked next to your house. Afton took you to the porch, all this time his piercing gaze didn’t leave you.
“Thanks for the ride.”
“You're welcome, dear, and happy birthday again.”
You went inside, but when you heard his footsteps behind you, you got confused and looked at him in surprise.
“Mr. Afton, is something wrong?” you asked, watching him come into your house, closing the door. “I can wait my mom alone.”
“I see that you’re afraid to be alone.” he smiled. “Do you mind if I keep such a lovely girl company?”

Omg also just imagine flightless bird Tan taking care of Y/n when she gets sick for the first time when living with him-
He’d be so soft taking care of her (and that’d definitely be another scenario where Y/n would be weak and want snuggles from him)
omg yesss!!!
you wake up and feel that small tickle in the back of your throat which get worse throughout the day. this make your progressively more grumpy as the day goes on, but you dont voice a word of this to tangerine. you didnt want to bother him because its just a sore throat, nothing but some water cant fix. but you were very wrong.
you wake up the next day feeling like a corpse. your throat is so much worse, your nose is all clogged up and runny, your body aches, and you just want to turn over and go right back to sleep. but its the clogged up nose that starts making you tear up in frustration. there is no way you are going back to sleep when you can hardly breathe. you sit up with a groan, your limbs cracking and your throat hurting after some bad coughing.
you get up from your bed with your blanket around your shoulders and trailing behind you, slowly making your way towards tangerines office. hes always up and dressed for the day by the time you wake up, usually in his office. but when you take a peak inside, hes not there.
then you walk to the room where he sleeps. not there either.
okay, maybe hes in the kitchen or in the living room, you think trying not to panic. but then you stop in your tracks, suddenly remembering that tangerine told you last night that he would be leaving early in the morning for work and would be back around five.
at the time when he told you this, you were happy to be away from him for basically the entire day. but now... theres nothing you want more than for his strong arms to be around you and his sweet whispers. also some medicine.
a sob escapes your mouth when you realize how alone you are. an achy feeling forms in your chest, but not from your sickness, from the fact that tangerine is somewhere very far you assume, and not here to take away your pain.
you dont even go downstairs to try and look for some cold medicine, the thought of the action exhausts you. so you make your way back to where tangerine sleeps and lay in his bed, you go in there because it was the closest room with a bed you think. and not because the smell of him is comforting as you bury yourself into the sheets he sleeps in.
it takes some time, but you fall asleep, wishing that wherever tangerine is and whatever he is doing, that he'll be done soon and come back to you.
~
tangerine sighs heavily as he walks into his home and stares at his watch. six o'clock. a little later than he said he would be back, but hes just happy to be home with you.
after checking all of the rooms downstairs with no sign of you, he begins going upstairs.
"love!" he calls out, beginning to worry that youve managed to escape when he doesnt here you.
tangerine checks your room first, only to find nothing and the panic is rising up. he starts to check every room, aggressively shoving the doors open and checking bathroom and closets and any spot where you may be hiding. just when he comes out of one room, he sees you from his door with a sleepy, confused expression and messy hair.
you look so fucking adorable he thinks as he lets out a sigh of relief and makes his way towards you. but as he gets closer, he sees your glossy, red eyes and lips quivering.
"tangerine." you whisper, your sore throat not letting your voice go any higher, and fall into his arms when they wrap around you. he hears your sniffling and small hiccups, hes heard you cry before, but this sounds completely different.
"whats wrong? look at me." he gently lifts your chin up to get a better look of your face, and he realizes that youre sick just from that tired look in your eyes.
"dont feel good, feel gross and-and-" you dont finish, it hurts to talk.
"oh, love. when did you start feeling this way, huh?" tangerine gently says into your hair as he starts walking you back into his room. thats when he sees his bed which obviously looks like someone has slept in. although he hates to hear your stuffy nose and crying, he cant push away the feeling of happiness of you sleeping in his bed. but then hes suddenly feeling very sad again at the thought of you being miserable all day, alone.
"this morning, woke up feeling yucky" you say, then shrink down when you see tangerines eyes widen and his body stiffen.
"why didnt you tell me? you couldve called me and i wouldve been here as soon as possible."
"i'm sorry," you cry into your hands, feeling like a small child being scolded, "didnt know i could."
tangerine sighs and shakes his head, feeling very emotional about you being sick all day and not being there for you.
"no, dont apologize. im the one thats sorry." then hes taking you in his arms and sitting on the bed with you in his lap,
"i didnt mean to get mad, just sad that i wasnt here for you when i shouldve been. and i shouldve told you that you can call me anytime when im working, i never told you that did i?" you shake your head against his chest with a sniffle and silent tears still running down your face.
"oh, im sorry, (y/n)." he says again, kissing the top of your head and holding you against him just a little but tighter. you calm down after a few minutes, but the silence is ruined when you sneeze, and tangerine is reminded that you are sick. too caught up with you on his lap laying against him.
"lets get you some medicine and food."
after having to coax you to drink some of the "yucky tasting" medicine, tangerine heats up some chicken noodle soup and feeds it to you.
"ate it all, good job, darling." making you smile gently.
you take a hot shower after, making you feel even more better when the steam unclogs your nose and relaxes your aching muscles.
after putting on some pajamas, you walk to tangerines room where he sees you shyly standing at his door.
"can i, um, sleep with you tonight, please?" you ask softly while tugging at your long sleeve.
"c'mere" is all tangerine says and lifts up the blanket for you. you make your way over to him and jump into his bed right into his arms where you quickly fall asleep when his fingers gently scratch your back.

Hi!! For the Spotify wrapped challenge, can I request 11 with Jamie Tartt x reader and 30 with Roy Kent x reader? Have an amazing day 🤗🤗
I'll do Jamie's here and reblog with Roy's at a later time!
#11 Francesca by Hozier
"Do you think I'd give up That this might've shook the love from me Or that I was on the brink? How could you think, darling, I'd scare so easily?"
TW: Mentions of injury
This one got away from me BAHAHAHA
Your relationship with Jamie had not been easy. You'd known Jamie since you kids, both trying out for primary school football teams. You'd told him that you could score more goals than he could, and he told you that you couldn't. So, imagine the surprise when you both scored two goals for your respective teams.
After that you were inseparable and when you turned 17 he'd kissed you right outside your childhood home. You loved him so much. So when he started to change, it hurt so so much more.
The last time you'd seen Jamie was before he was sent to Richmond. You'd gotten into a fucking fight. Jamie had been acting like a dick since he'd just gotten a call up to Man City. He'd been ignoring your texts, not making time for you, treating your relationship like it was nothing. So, you told him if he went to Man City not to bother coming back. And he left.
Then, Jamie played for AFC Richmond and was consistently the player of the month, the star of the team, the captain of the England National Team. You were not. Not since the accident.
Meanwhile, you were a waitress as you worked your way through night school, trying to get a degree in Physio. Then that way you could at least be back on the field, back in the game, back with the players.
You were working a double when he came in. You could tell he wasn't expecting to see you when he came in with his coach, Roy Kent of all people, giggling about some joke he'd told the older man. When he turned to face you, the humor left his face along with all the blood. You'd never seen someone pale faster than Jamie Tartt seeing you working in a diner at 11 o'clock at night on a Wednesday.
"Table for two?" You asked Roy since Jamie showed no sign of life since seeing you.
Roy glared at Jamie as he shouldered his way in front of him. "Yes, please. Can we get in the back somewhere?"
"Of course, follow me." You guided them to a table in the back of the restaurant where no one would see them. "Coffee?"
"Just waters, please," Roy answered, seeing as Jamie was still speechless.
You nodded, and walked away. Roy, not so subtly, snapped in Jamie's face and barked "What the fuck is wrong with you."
You had the same question. But you were above this, you were not going to engage with him. He was not apart of your life anymore and he didn't get to just come back into your life and-"
"Hey, (Y/N)."
You jumped, cursing as you spilled the water glass you were filling onto your apron.
"Shit, sorry," Jamie fussed, grabbing the cup and pushing it back onto the counter. You shook your head, muttering that it was fine before grabbing a towel. "Here let me!"
He snatched the towel from your hand and started pressing it to your apron, pressing lower and lower until he was just above your...
"Jamie!" you snapped, yanking the towel out of his hand. "It's fine, okay, just drop it."
He continued to stand awkwardly to the side while you finished cleaning the mess he'd made. Funny innit.
"Do you need something?" You started pour new cups of water as you tried very very hard not to look at him.
"(Y/N)... I-" he twisted the ends of his hoodies strings are he figured out what he was trying to say. It made you pause. That was what old Jamie had done. Sweet thing, nervous to speak, to mess up, to be made a fool of. "There's a lot I want to say but I'll start with I'm sorry."
You paused, bringing your hands down to rest on the counter.
"I was dead shitty to you," he continued. "You didn't deserve that and I'm trying to be accountable."
Accountable. That was a new word for Jamie to be using.
"You, uh... you look dead fit."
That caught you off guard and you couldn't help but laugh as you finally looked over at Jamie.
"I look fit?" You echoed in disbelief.
"Yeah! Swear down, you do!" Jamie tried a smile but it faded after a second. "I thought you'd be playing in the Women's league."
You shook your head, you laugh dying down. "Yeah, no. I fucked my leg. Not long after you fucked off to City. Not like you'd know."
Jamie winced and cursed to himself. "Fuck, I'm sorry, I really am. Should've been there for you. But listen, listen, I've changed yeah? I'm better, swear down, I promise I am."
You raised an eyebrow at him.
"And if I had to do it again, I would, all of it," he continued. "I was mad shitty before and a lot has happened, a lot has gone wrong but I made it through and I'm a better person. For you... I'm a better person for you."
You bit your lip. You knew what he wanted from you. To start over and try again and you wanted that too. You felt your heart reaching for his but you couldn't let your guard down. He could hurt you so easily.
"I know, I don't expect you to just agree right away but if you give me a chance, I promise I'll make it up to you," Jamie looked at you with big pleading eyes. You looked between them. God, he looked like a wet dog.
Fuck, you couldn't believe you were doing this.
You pulled out your notepad and scribbled down your number. You pushed it into his chest, holding it there.
"Here's my number, call me, we'll be friends," you shook your head. "Friends, Jamie."
Jamie brought his hands to over your over his chest, and goddamn it felt good to have him touch you again.
"Friends, yeah, mint," his lip turned up in a lazy half smile, his thumb rubbing over your hand. It wasn't even on purpose, your bodies just knew each other.
Against yourself, you tugged your hand away. "Now I have to work? Go back to... fucking Roy Kent? Fucking hell, Jamie."
He raised an eyebrow and looked over to where Roy was sitting at their table, very obviously watching them.
"We have a lot to catch up on," he told you.
You agreed. "We certainly do."

It's 5 o'clock Somewhere ↠ Kid x Reader
Tumblr media
➼ Word Count » 0.4k ➼ Warnings » Descriptions of a panic attack ➼ Genre » Modern AU, Hurt/Comfort, Platonic/Romantic
You rushed into the cramped one-room bathroom, closing the door quickly behind you as you hunched over the sick. Your fingers gripped desperately at the ceramic as you stared at yourself in the mirror. You could hardly recognize yourself in the stained and dirty glass. Your hair was all disheveled and looked greasy under the painful overhead light. Your eyes seemed duller too, with the bags that clung below hanging much further down than before. God — what happened to you? Was coming here that big of a mistake?
The music from the bar blared from just outside the door which only served to make your mind foggier than it was before. You were dizzy and unfocused, struggling to even stand straight, never mind the fact your shoes seemed to stick to whatever substance covered the floors. What had you had to drink? You couldn't remember. All you knew was that you wanted out as quickly as possible.
You watched helplessly as your vision stretched farther and farther away from you — the world was spinning over on itself, but you stayed put, glaring at every flaw that would forever stain your face.
Your breath was quickening now, your heart beating faster and your hands began to shake. You were losing yourself in the noise and deafening screams that echoed from the other side of the wall — you needed to go home. You needed to think of an excuse to leave early. You liked drinking with your friends, but with the state you're in, you'd only ruin the mood of the night.
"Hey," An all too familiar voice sounded, cutting through your thoughts and the chaos outside, "You alright in there?"
Kid's voice was gruff and lacked any real note of sympathy, but the fact that he even followed you back here meant something to you — it meant a lot actually.
"Y-yeah," Your voice cracked, "Fine."
"I bet you are," He responded sarcastically, "Come on out, me and Killer are taking you home."
You looked up at yourself in the mirror one last time, wiping your eyes with the back of your hand, before unlocking the door and following the two out. You hadn't looked as bad as you remembered yourself looking in that final glance you shot toward yourself, and you didn't feel as flawed either.

im brainrotting could you write some desperate sub aether pretty pleaseee
A few things are true.
One: the bus leaves for tour at four o'clock in the morning sharp,
Two: Aether will not be on it, and
Three: the few remaining hours should be spent appropriately.
Somewhere, a clock strikes midnight and Dew can't imagine spending the next few cycles asleep. Underneath his spindly fingers, Aether's thighs tremble. Holding him under his knees, pressing them up and back, keeping Aether folded and spread while he uses little thrusts to work his cock steadily into the plush body below him.
"Dew," Aether moans, eyes wide and fingers clutching at the sheets, "just put it in-"
Aether has been wearing a flushed face and pained expression since Dew slipped a single finger in. There's been little resistance; not just with working long, talented fingers inside him to pet at secret, sensitive parts of him, but as a whole. They should have been drinking and celebrating with the others, but it took no convincing at all to pull him away, peel the drink from his hand and demand that they sneak back to their room.
No convincing to demand that Aether strip himself and kneel on the bed. Demand that he reach behind him and hold himself open so Dew could get a nice look at the hole he's leaving behind for a long time.
No cajoling necessary to have Aether's face crumple when Dew settled himself behind and informed him he was going to lick him out and he better be noisy to show his appreciation.
Dew should go slow. He ought to tell Aether to hush, that he's picking the pace because Aether is having a tough time relaxing and he doesn't want to hurt him. But Aether is whining for it, pathetic and lovely and maybe he deserves it, the chance to feel a twinge of discomfort long after Dew has left his bed and the abbey many hours and many miles behind.
"Please," Aether manages. "Inside, Dew, please."
"Sure thing, princess," Dew grunts, and starts pressing in, in earnest, all at once. No measured, slow movements. Just all in, while Aether moans and gasps and does something he is best at: allowing fires to consume.

Those doe eyes were on you again, stalking and watching your every move, it wasn't curiosity or disdain, it was desire.
It didn't matter where you were, Xavier thorpe would be there too, it was funny at first, he would look in your direction and you would smile at him kindly, hoping to get a good conversation going, but it never happened, he never left the place he was standing to talk to you or introduce himself.
Your roommate Enid, heard Ajax say that Xavier had a dark side, and the curiosity filled your body, to the point that it disturbed your sleep every night, because the only thing that was on your mind was the doubt of what he was hiding, you wanted to discover the more sinister side of Xavier thorpe.
Convinced to unveil all of Xavier's facets, at three o'clock in the morning you left for the shed, where you found many drawings, and some of them called more attention, these drawings were about you, in several positions with and without clothes, but one in specific would never leave your mind, it was a painting where your legs were tied so that they were open and both hands were bound by handcuffs.
A noise startles you and you quickly hide behind some painting, sounds of footsteps get louder and closer, internally a small prayer goes through your head, "please don't let it be him" you think.
"How did you get in here?."
Your voice is a little hoarse, but you can still recognize the owner of it, Xavier was angry.
"This is the last time I will ask, how did you get in here?."
Without the courage to answer, fear and cowardice flood his body, what was he going to do?
"All right, let's pretend I don't know you're there, y/n."
Shit, he knows it's you.
"I'm going to count to three, and you can hide somewhere else."
"One."
Damn it.
"Two."
You slowly crawl under a small bed, while his eyes are closed.
"Three."
His hand covers his mouth, hoping to cover any sounds coming from his desperation.
"I'm not going to hurt you, I just don't understand why and how you got in here, if you tell me I will let you go."
Her body refuses to move.
"All right then."
With steady steps Xavier comes toward you, he crouches down and wraps his hand around your leg pulling you away from the bed. Even as you struggled the weight of his body held you down.
"So, pretty girl, did you like my drawings?"
"Xavier, I just wanted to talk to you."
"Bullshit, why would you talk to me at this hour, how did you get in?"
Defeated, you admit to finding a spare key hidden near the shed.
"Clever girl, but it's not nice to pry into other people's things, did you like the drawings?"
"I think so yes"
"Do you want me to make you look the same as you are in that painting?"
Xavier says as he looks at the painting where you were tied up, his gaze returns to you, he smiles, waiting for your response.
"Xavier, I need to get back to Nevermore."
"I doubt they will miss us, it is still four twenty-six in the morning, and you have not answered my question, yes or no, pretty girl?."
"No."
Silence fills the whole place, the smile on Xavier's face falls, and you catch a small glimpse of his watery eyes.
"Why not, don't you find me attractive?"
"Xavier, I don't mean to be rude, but it would be weird to fuck someone who does erotic paintings of me"
"Alright, you win, but can I at least explain myself?"
Nodding his head yes, he starts to explain himself, even if he has no justification for this whole situation, but still, a part of you like this whole mess, it's not every day you have an admirer as erotic as Xavier.
"I tried, several times, to talk to you, but there was always someone around taking your attention away from me, or I gave up thinking it would be weird to talk to the guy who stares at you all the time. And the paintings , I spend a lot of time here and sometimes my mind takes me to strange places, and you are the only thing that distracts me, so I spend my time thinking about you and painting your body on canvas."
Once again silence settles in the shed, Xavier admitted that he was attracted to you, but what would be you reaction to that?
"What do you want from me?"
"I want a kiss, pretty girl"
A part of you wanted to kiss him too, but the other part was screaming that this was crazy, it's not normal to kiss the guy who stalks you and draws you naked.
"You don't have to if you don't want to"
He makes it sound like it's his choice, but deep down you both know it's not, he could easily steal a kiss from you, or not, that's his choice. Now you are sure of two thing, it was a bad choice to be here, and surely trying to get to know the dark side of Xavier Thorpe was not a good idea.
It was now almost five in the morning, Xavier was on top of you, kissing your lips desperately, while one hand grabbed your wrists the other hand slid into your panties, two fingers wet themselves with your wetness and began to fuck your pussy.
In, out, in, out, slowly you began to feel a tingling in your pussy grow, it was delicious to feel their fingers in you.
"Are you going to cum, girl?"
Desperately nodding yes, lightly your legs begin to tremble, your cum spreads over Xavier's fingers and you watch him grunt as you take them into your mouth to suck on.
Stretching to reach a box that was beside the small bed, he pulls out a handcuff and two large ropes, it's as if he had planned this from the beginning, but there's no way he could have planned this situation, is there?
Pulling you out of your thoughts, he whispers.
"Don't be afraid."
It was now twenty past six in the morning, your legs were tied to the bed separately keeping them spread, the wrists were cuffed and bound to the headboard, her wet pussy was *being sucked by Xavier who seemed hungry, his tongue alternating between circling clit and thrusting into her pussy as deep as possible.
With a mischievous grin, he stops and pulls away before her second orgasm, positions himself between your legs,*and sucks on breasts leaving some hickey marks on them.
"You can't imagine how much I've waited for this, how long I've thought about fucking you like this, especially when you wear those shorts to bed, I tried to control myself but I couldn't, confess I went to your room to watch you sleep."
You feel revulsion, but your pussy gets even wetter, the moment stop suckling your breasts he kisses you again.
His eyes are fixed on your face as he grabs *his cock and rubs it against your pussy in back and forth motions, he smiles as he sees that your eyebrows are frowning, and tired of teasing you he shoves the tip of his cock in.
"Ask nicely, pretty girl"
"Please, Xavier"
"No, say 'please, Daddy'."
Feeling his cock enter you a little more, your impulsive brain responds for you.
"Please daddy, fuck me"
With a strong thrust, Xavier enters you completely, his strokes are fast and a little aggressive, moans and the sounds of skin slapping against skin are the only noises in the room.
"Good girl, you are such a smart girl, such a good girl, so hot and wet, I want to fuck you forever, do you want that?"
As if your life depended on it, you nod yes repeatedly, your body is engulfed in a wave pleasure, rationality and logic gone, leaving only Xavier fucking you on a small bed with his hand wrapped around your neck.
"Fuck girl, your pussy is crushing me, want more don't you?, so greedy!"
As tears form in your eyes, unable to think of anything other than Xavier's cock inside your pussy, you are so full of cock, it is almost unbearable all this horniness and pleasure, but if it to end you feel you might die.
"Dumb girl, so dumb, you like having a big stick in you, don't you?, and can't even think straight, can you count what two plus two is?, I bet it doesn't."
He was right, your dumb mind couldn't do even the simplest math. Looking down, you notice a bulge in your belly appearing whenever Xavier thrusts deep inside you, this is enough to make you feel that tingle grow, and the moans become more needy,*while his cock goes in and out the wet dirty sound makes you crazy .
"That's it baby, I'm going to cum, you want that don't you. You want me to come inside your pussy, say yes please baby."
Without answering the only thing you do is moan louder, tears start to flow from your eyes as his cock hits that sponge place inside you, giving slaps in your ass and thigh, with groggy voice, he starts whispering in your ear.
"God, I love you so much, you look so beautiful when you cry, I'm going to cum in your pussy, I'm going to give her what she wants."
The strokes are clumsy, Xavier was almost delirious with pleasure,*with a grunt and gripping your hip tightly he pours his load as deep inside you as possible. Your body will have many bruises on your legs, wrists, groin and hip to cover tomorrow.
"I could leave you like this, so beautifully tied up and filled with my cum."
Too frank to answer, feeling your eyes too heavy now, you allow yourself to rest.
It was late now, you didn't have an exact time, but judging by the darkness coming through the window you deduced it was very late, Xavier was beside you sleeping peacefully, he had let go of your body completely, slowly and quietly you got up and searched for your clothes, the pain in your body hindered your progress, but the fear of him waking up and seeing you "running away" motivated you to get out as quickly as possible.
You weren't afraid of him, you were afraid to accept that you had sex with the guy who liked to paint you naked and watch you sleep, you were afraid to admit that you enjoyed every moment of it.
The other day after a shower and a good sleep, in break, feeling that look again, you looked back, Xavier was hurt by your leaving the shed while he slept, and as you both stared at each other, you were sure that this would not be the last time together, he was not a healthy person, Xavier was toxic, bitter and addictive, he was your nicotine, and you wanted more.

not to chronically project onto my favs but stede with migraines hits me hard because at a certain point with chronic pain you have to develop the ability to just keep going. when it hurts all. the. time. what do you do when it hurts? your options become either to keep going or to stop existing. and stede isn't sure he wants to exist when the show starts.
and on top of that, stede is the KING of keeping going and saying nothing. when it hurts all the time, you just get on with it. when it hurts and you want to make a good impression, you just get on with it. when it hurts and you have stuff to do, you just get on with it. and stede would just get on with it, without saying, without drawing attention to it, because he'd have been taught that's what he ought to do by his father, by his social class, by his family.
a bathtub and a fireplace make no sense on a ship, but they're both decent tools for temperature regulation on a ship without ice or heat packs. stede's silly eyemask and the curtains on all sides of his bed, blocking out the light. his hidden passages, places to hide from the noise and the light. lavender scents that help soothe the pain.
so then you have stede, hurting and hiding it. and stede has ed, who recognizes these sorts of things from his own experience. ed, who is a genius and who's attention to detail is insanely powerful when it's something he cares about - he knows to ask for lucius to count down from 147 minutes, he keeps a calendar in his head (1717 versus leap year handwavey things aside) - who would start to recognize that stede touches this one spot over his left eyebrow quite often, who would notice that stede is crankier when the sun is brighter or that he sometimes finds stede with his eyemask on midday or that he sometimes messes up his words and can't speak properly or any of a dozen other signs. and ed knows, better than most, that pretending it isn't there won't make it go away, but he also knows how sensitive it can be to bring it up. and while stede is learning - boisterously, enthusiastically - to take care of ed and his knee, ed is learning - quietly, delicately - to take care of stede and his migraines.
this is all to say that some days, roach spots stede pressing a thumb into his left eyebrow over lunch and by two o'clock the revenge'll be anchored somewhere, quiet as any ghost ship, with its co-captains ensconced away in bed.
i know what you're really doing, stede might pout into ed's neck, once ed has chivvied him into bed and arranged him so that he's hiding himself away in all that skin and all that hair and all that warmth. don't think i'm not onto you.
i'm sure you are, ed would tell him, in a whisper. nothing gets by the gentleman pirate, does it.
and maybe stede will hold ed a little closer, press his head a little harder into ed's jaw where the pressure feels - not nice, per se, but better - and let himself be the sort of things stede's father never wanted him to be. ill. weak. a little clingy, a little needy.
taken care of.
and if he says thank you, tangled up there in ed and the quiet and the darkness, well. ed didn't do this for the acknowledgement. he did this because --
love you, ed whispers, with a kiss to stede's forehead that won't fix anything but still solves everything. close your eyes now. i'll be here when you wake up.
and stede does. he knows ed will.

Wille gets a call from the royal court at stupid o'clock in the morning, which he promptly ignores, but the 5th time they call back he groans and realises they're not going to go away. He begrudgingly answers the call, slipping on tracksuit pants and a hoodie and blowing a kiss to Simon who watches his boyfriend go regretfully.
A few hours later and he still hasn't returned; Simon is sitting at breakfast making small talk with the Forest Ridge boys but continually glancing up at the door whenever anyone walked in, hoping it would be him. 10 minutes before breakfast closes he decides that the prince won't be coming, so he gets up and makes him a sandwich and heads to class.
Wille arrives at class 20 minutes late looking cranky and tired. He slips into his seat next to his boyfriend and drops his head to Simon's shoulder for the briefest moment before getting his books out and staring blank-eyed at the teacher. Simon reaches out and puts his hand on Wille's thigh, rubbing lightly with his thumb to comfort his boyfriend. Wille's grimace turns into a tiny smile as he traces the lengths of Simon's fingers with his own under the desk.
A few minutes later the teacher instructs them to get into small discussion groups and find somewhere to work. Wille turns and looks at Felice and Fredrika, gesturing with his head as he stands up, holding Simon's hand for just a moment and giving it a gentle tug. The four of them head towards the library and sit down at the desks. Simon takes the opportunity to reach into his bag and place the sandwich on the table in front of Wille, quickly kissing his cheek and smoothing back his (rapidly growing) hair behind his ear. Wille looks for a second like he is about to cry, before quietly whispering "Tack, Simme" and gently unwrapping the green paper.
As the four friends sit and discuss the structure of the Riksdag, Wille nibbles on his food, and his mood slowly starts to rise. He still sits quietly for the most part (years of being told not to share his political opinions is not an easy habit to break), but he nods along to what Simon says and gives him encouraging smiles, especially when Fredrika says something misguided and Simon tries to hold in his annoyance as he explains his point of view.
The class ends and the boys gather up their belongings and walk down the corridors of Hillerska.
"So what did they want this time?" Simon says gently.
"They're still trying to convince me to do Military service like Erik did. I just can't Simon, I can't imagine spending 12 months learning how to hurt other people, even if it is just for show. Why can't they just let me take alternative service and let me actually do something good instead?" Wille's voice rises in panic as he speaks, and Simon pulls him aside and into a nook in the hallway.
"Wille, they can't make you do anything. If you object publicly, what could they do about it?"
"Make my life more hell than it already is" Wille replies miserably.
"Maybe... Or maybe, you could put a spin on this. Think about it. Showing alternative service as a valid option to those who view it just as an excuse. We could do some really public acts during it, invite the press. Surely the court will see that as a positive impact on your image?" Simon says, taking his boyfriend's hand with his while circling his other over Wille's shoulder and chest to calm him.
"I couldn't ask you to do that Simon, I know how much you hate the press." Wille says sadly, but less dejectedly than before.
"You're not asking me, I'm offering älskling. Plus, it gets me out of the conversation too; I'm certain they were warming up to that."
Wille huffs out a breath and leans in closer to Simon.
"Will you ask them, mi amor? Next time they call, be super positive and tell them all the things you will do and why it's a good idea. I'm sure you can win them round."
"What would I do without you, my Simon?" Wille says, finally circling his arms around his boyfriend's waist and hugging him tightly.
"Well, for a start, not eat breakfast I suppose" Simon teases back, and it earns a laugh from Wille.
"Come on Wille, military service can wait but I don't think Mr Englund can" Simon says, breaking away and leading Wille back into the hall as the other boy groans and starts spewing complaints about their teacher instead.

light on
The one where Y/N is the daughter of a legendary Team USA coach and used to attend the development program with the boys. 8 years after they last saw each other in person, a reunion brings Jack and Y/N back into each other’s lives... and hearts.

XXIII XXIV - at last XXV
“Have you got your vows?”
“I know them by heart.”
“Do you? It doesn’t hurt to have a back-up… What about the rings? Are you sure that Trevor isn’t going to lose them?”
“Mom…Mom! Hey, it’s okay. We’ve got it under control!” Jack chuckled, as his mother rambled on and on about every single detail, while helping him with his bow tie.
“Alright, alright.” the older woman sighed. “I guess I’m just...”
“A nervous wreck?” her son completed her sentence, raising an eyebrow.
“One day your kids will get married and then you’ll know how it feels... I’m holding my heart in my hands over here, Jacky. I don’t know how you can be so calm right now.”
The brunette man looked away from the mirror and stared at his mother, unconsciously wondering why that was even up for debate.
“Love isn’t about all the fluttering and butterflies flying around in your stomach. It’s about what you feel once the butterflies have settled down and you’re staring into that person’s eyes. When I look into Y/N's eyes, I feel like I’m home. I feel safe, loved and at ease. That’s why I’m not freaking out. I’m going home.”
Ellen Hughes was rendered speechless and she could only walk up to her son and wrap her arms around him. They stayed in each other’s embrace for a while, neither wanting to let go of the other.
“I am so proud of you, my sweet boy.” the older woman said, pulling away. “Now let’s get you married!”
“That’s what I like to hear!” Trevor screamed as he entered the room, a bottle of champagne and glasses in hand. “Let’s make a toast!”
“Z, it’s two in the afternoon.” Jack groaned as Ellen took one of the glasses from the blond-haired man.
“It’s five o’clock somewhere!"
“You’re such a bullshitter.” the Devils' player laughed, finally reaching for the glass his friend was holding out for him.
"Z! I told you not to start without us!” Alex scolded when he walked in, followed closely by Luke, Quinn and Cole.
“Whatever, you guys were busy, I wanted to get a head start…”
“We were helping Y/N's with the mess of a veil she picked out… That thing is longer than a lizard’s tail!” Luke explained, reaching to try and fix Jack's stray strand or hair.
“Yeah and I was helping guests find seats and letting them know they could not sit in the front… Some of the old ladies are scary as hell, Jack.” Alex gulped, loosening up his bowtie.
The middle Hughes leaned into Quinn, motioning for him to do the same.
“How is she?” he whispered, everyone else around them speaking loudly and cheerfully.
“Peaceful.” his older brother smiled. “She looks breathtaking, by the way. Try to keep it together when you see her.” he winked, stepping back.
“I’ll take your word for it, Quinny… Did you give her the…”
“Yeah. Don’t worry.”
“Thank you, man. I think Luke would be too curious not to read it.”
“Oh, for sure. That letter would never make it to Y/N. Not even in a million years.”
Aleksander patted his brother's shoulder and led him to the circle the others had formed around Trevor, who was by then filling up everyone’s glasses.
“Alright, gents! It’s time for me, the best groomsman, to propose a toast.”
“I feel weird drinking at two pm…” Cole whispered to Jack.
“It’s five o'clock somewhere.” the brunette man chuckled. “Let’s just not exaggerate or else we’ll be stumbling our way to the altar.”
“So… I just wanted to say…” Trevor began. “I truly did not imagine this day would ever come.”
“Thanks?” the groom raised an eyebrow, making everyone else laugh.
“Don’t interrupt me. I meant to say that I didn’t think you would have it in you to actually go out and get your girl. But you did, my man. And I’m honestly so proud of you and the person you have grown to become. I may make fun of you like ninety percent of the time, but I hope you know that I do it out of love. You’re one of my best friends and you've never failed me... I love you, you dick. You better believe it.” the groomsman said, his voice quivering as he struggled to keep himself from crying.
“Aw Z, you have a heart!” Alex said, leaning his head on the blond man’s shoulder.
“Yeah, yeah.” he rolled his eyes, raising his glass. “To Y/N and Jack, may she never figure out he’s actually a huge nerd!”
“To Y/N and Jack!” everyone cheered, glasses clinking against each other.
*
“Where are the flowers? Where are the fucking flowers?” River yelled out, scouring the well-lit room for the bouquet.
“No. No. No. I hate this veil. I can’t. It’s tangling in itself again, what the hell!” Lily groaned, taking a deep breath before getting back to her task.
“Y/N, are you sure you don’t want a little bit more of blush? You need to make those gorgeous cheeks of yours pop out.”
“River, I’m fine. I’m sure I’ll gain color when literally everyone starts staring at me while I walk down the aisle.” the bride laughed quietly.
Her brother looked at her, his eyes brimming with tears as he grabbed both of her hands, taking a deep breath before speaking.
“I can’t believe my baby sister is getting married!” River nearly screamed, making everyone stop what they were doing and observe them.
“I already got married once, Riv… You were there.”
“That did not happen. I erased that memory from my head and so should you. This is actually the real deal. You and Jack are meant to be. He’s a good one.”
“You’re complimenting Jack? What’s next? Quinn telling Trevor he loves him?” Y/N chuckled, earning herself a playful swat in the arm.
“Shut up, you know deep down I like him.”
“Deep deep down.” Lily added, smirking. “Like the bottom of the well from The Ring.”
“Okay, last minute check. Are the kids ready?”
“Yes, ma’am. Joey's with your mom, Trevor has the flower petals. They’re all accounted for. Now… Vows?”
“Check.”
“Bouquet?”
“Check!” River chirped from behind them.
“Something blue?”
“Check.” Y/N wiggled her eyebrows, lifting up her dress to show her friends the blue garter on her thigh.
“Y/N! Look at you!” Lily gasped, placing her hand over her heart. “Something old?”
“Mom told me she had it.”
“Something borrowed?”
“She said it could be both things in one.” the doctor shrugged, taking another look in the mirror.
“What about something new? ”
“The gorgeous necklace you guys gave her as a wedding gift… I wonder what you'll get me if I renew my vows…”
“Yeah, good luck with convincing Alex to ask your father for permission to marry you again…” River snorted.
Y/N chuckled softly, the folded piece of paper Quinn had subtly handed her a few minutes prior still in her hand. Around her, everyone seemed to be moving at the speed of light, panicking slightly over every single detail. But not her. She was as calm as a Sunday morning. She was right where she was supposed to be, about to marry the love of her life. There was nothing that could go wrong if, at the end of the day, they were still together.
“Everyone ready to get this show on the road?” Y/M/N chirped, making her way in and stopping in front of her daughter. “Do you mind if I talk to Y/N in private? Joey is waiting outside with Y/F/N, Dan and Jim are holding the fort down at the aisle and Ellen's with Jack. The men are already lined up, you should get to your positions.”
“Of course. Let me just…” River began, reaching for his best friend in the world and pulling her close to him. “Knock him out, sis.”
Lily silently joined in on their hug, trying her best to keep tears from falling down her perfectly made-up face. They remained like that for a few seconds, eventually letting go with quiet sniffles. The door closed behind them and Y/N smoothed out the fabric of her dress skirt, anxious to find out what the letter said, but not wanting to say a thing.
“I’ve got your something old that is also something borrowed, honey.” Y/M/N smiled, reaching for her clutch and taking out a beautiful hair comb, adorned with gold leaves and faux white flowers. “This was your grandma's. She wore it on her wedding day and wanted you to have it on yours.”
“What? But she came to my first wedding… Why not giving it to me then?” the doctor inquired, carefully taking the beautiful hair accessory from her mother and taking a closer look at the small details.
“Well… She said she was sure one day you’d end up wearing it. Even if she wasn’t here to see it.” the older woman smiled. “May I?”
Y/N nodded, handing her the comb, which her mother placed above her bun.
“It’s so beautiful, mom.” the bride gushed, turning around to see how it looked on her hair. “I think nana might have been onto something...”
“Wasn’t she always?” Y/M/N winked, her hands finding her daughter’s shoulders and leaning in close so their foreheads touched.
The duo took a deep breath, their eyes closed.
“Mom?”
“Yeah, kiddo?”
“Do you mind telling dad to give me a couple of minutes alone? I’ve got to put my game face on.”
“Sure, baby.” the older woman conceded, squeezing her cheek. “I’ll go ahead. Just don’t take too long, or else the poor boy at the altar will have a heart attack.”
“Got it.” the bride laughed, waiting for her mother to leave the room before unfolding the note.
Y/N,
Today’s the day. Listen, you’ve still got time. You can still climb out of a window, I promise I won’t take it to heart. If you want out, now’s the time. But please keep in mind that I am the one who checks under Joey's bed for monsters and the one who does Finn's manicure. Also, I’m not bad to look at and my morning breath isn’t as bad as Trevor's (remind me to never go camping with him again). Anyway… I hope you’re okay. Try not to trip over your own feet when you see how handsome I look (my mom’s words, not mine). Can’t believe in an hour we will officially be an old married couple. It feels like it was meant to be all along. I’m not worried about the future, you know? We have each other. A daughter. A very old dog. Kickass parents. I think we’re good to go. Do you? See you on the other side. I’ll look out for the one in white.
Love,
Jack.
Y/N could see it all pan out in her head. Their new house, a new bed for Finn, a white picket fence and a bay window where she could read, resting her head against the glass while Joey did her homework in the kitchen table. Jack bragging about being a better cook. Their parents coming over for dinner every Friday night. Growing old together. Taking care of their grandchildren. A wide, serene smile took over her face. She was ready. There was no doubt about it.
The guests were already seated. Friends, family, that overly chatty aunt who won’t shut up for a second looking for tissues in her clutch, bracing herself for what was about to take place.
Lily sent Jack a reassuring smile, who returned it with a nod and looked at his mother, as if asking her if it was the right time.
“I’m right here, Jack. I won’t let you fall in front of all these people. My son cannot be a klutz.” Ellen winked, squeezing his arm.
“Are you kidding? These steps will be the easiest I’ll ever take in my life. I’m walking towards my destiny, my forever. I don’t think I’ve ever been so sure about something in my entire life.”
“Oh boy, you have no idea how happy I am to hear you say that.” the blonde woman sighed contently. “I couldn’t hold you up to it even if I had to. My back can’t take it.”
The duo laughed quietly, before the doors swung open, revealing them to the expecting crowd of a hundred people. He took a deep breath, a smile taking over his features before he stepped forward, Ellen right beside him in a beautiful dark blue dress.
“Thank you for walking me down the aisle.” he nearly whispered.
“It’s not just me walking with you right now. Your grandma is right here.” the older woman said, reaching to touch his chest. “And I’m fairly certain she’s looking down on you with the biggest, dorkiest, most loving smile you can imagine.”
“She always said he was going to be there one way or the other.” Jack grinned sadly. “I hope she knows how happy we are…”
“A mother always knows, Jacky. You have nothing to worry about.” she said sweetly, nudging him towards his place at the altar. “Good luck.”
And, just like that, he was up there, eagerly waiting for the rest of his life to start.
First came in David and River, who stuck his tongue out at the groom, making him break out into laughter, covering his mouth with his hand. Even though he teased him all the time, he knew he had his back. Alex and Lily followed suit: the hockey player looked more nervous than he did, his wife whispering something into his ear before they parted ways, each one taking their assigned spot. Then in came Cole and Quinn, looking as calm and collected as usual, a perfect balance between them, being followed by Luke.
Trevor helped Joey throw the rose petals around, with the little girl instructing him how to properly do it. It had to be perfect for her mother to walk over in a few seconds. The Devils' player felt his heart grow in his chest, an unwavering smile adorning his face. His friend took her to her grandmother and walked over to him, squeezing his shoulder before moving to stand by his side.
“She’s about to come in. Are you ready, young man?” the priest said, signaling the organ player to start playing the wedding march.
“I’ve been ready since I was sixteen.”
“Took you long enough, then.” the older man chuckled.
“I can’t believe you just got dragged by a priest.” Trevor wheezed, getting slapped in the back of the head by Quinn, who took a finger to his lips, urging him to be silent.
The doors opened wide once again, this time revealing the bride and her mothers, and a tiny little girl behind them, carefully holding the fragile veil. Y/N's eyes met Jack's across the room and she mouthed hi, a crooked grin appearing on her face once he did the same thing.
He felt like his world had just stopped and some supernatural force had just stricken his chest, nearly knocking him over. His fiancée looked ethereal, once again, and he couldn’t look away even if he wanted to. Even if he should. After all, tradition commanded for the groom to stand with his back to the bride until she reached him, but to hell with that. He wasn’t willing to miss a thing.
Y/F/N started walking, making his daughter come down from the clouds and do the same, smiling at her guests from time to time, but never losing sight of the man she was willing to love for the rest of her life. Loud snoring, mismatched socks, terrible habit of spoiling their child included. She was all in. Forever.
Before she knew it, she was by his side, his father giving her a kiss on the cheek, giving Jack a firm handshake and sitting down next to his ex-wife. Y/N gave River the bouquet and turned to face the groom, standing still as he pulled her veil over her head and took her hand in his, his thumb stroking soothing circles on the back of her hand.
“I’m glad you decided to show up.” the Devils' player whispered, leaning into her.
“You made an offer I couldn’t turn down.” she whispered back, as the priest began his speech.
“And what was that, Marlon Brando’s Godfather?” he inquired, playfully.
“To be mine for the rest of our lives.”
“Funny, that was the reason why I showed up.”
“Soulmates, baby.” Y/N said, raising her fist for him to bump.
“Boom.”
Jack looked at her adoringly, laughing when she motioned her head towards the man in front of them, going on about love and the rite of passage into a life of harmony together. He couldn’t give a damn about what the man was saying. He already knew he was meant to love her, to cherish her, to lift her up when she was down, to give everything and expect nothing in return. A few years back, he had sat carefully listening to what the officiant had preached, absorbing every single thing he said while he thought of the woman standing at the altar with the grooms. It was then an there that he finally admitted to himself that his feelings towards here were undeniable and strong and that the leap he was taking was worth whatever terrible fall it could come with it. She was worth it all.
The bride couldn’t refrain from letting her mind travel back to that night, three years before, when he had kissed her for the very first time and told her he liked her. She had run away afraid of giving her all to another man who would take what he could and leave her with nothing. After years of nursing herself and back-to-back heartache, she had closed herself off to the possibility of what love could be. The lazy Sunday mornings in bed, the smile on her daughter’s face as he taught her how to ride a skateboard, the way he’d hold her tighter every time she winced during a scary movie. The smell of his hair in the morning, the sun shining down on his curls, making them look golden and cherub-like. Something as simple and mundane as making a bed felt like a scene straight out of a romcom when he was the one doing it with her. Their silence was filled with confessions of true love, their companionship making the foundation of their relationship stronger by the day. They didn’t seem to grow tired of the exhilarating feeling of being so completely, utterly, crazy and dumbly in love with each other. And that was all she could ask for.
“I know these two have a long history, but there is still a long road ahead of them. My advice, as a very old man, who was born in a different century, is: don’t let anyone tell you how to live out your love and your life. Especially not an old man from another century.” the priest declared, making everyone laugh. “Love and life are what you make of them. Every story is different, every path trekked by someone with a different perspective or outtake on everything.”
“That was beautiful…And you’re so right.” Alex sniffled, making the older man raise an eyebrow. “Sorry, carry on.”
“I feel like I’ve been talking for a long time and I’m very old, so I need a minute to rest my vocal chords.” he joked. “So why don’t you say your vows? Y/N, if you will…” the priest added, smiling kindly.
The bride turned her body to face her groom, both of her hands in his.
“So… I was thinking of a romantic way to start my vows off and I came to the conclusion that nothing says love like reciting a poem written in the nineteenth century in front of everyone we cherish.” she began, making Jack chuckle while trying to keep his emotions in check. “Here it goes…”
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of being and ideal grace.
I love thee to the level of every day's
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for right.
I love thee purely, as they turn from praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints. I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.
“I do, Rowdy. I love you. And as long as I am me and you are you, I will love you. I’d find you in any lifetime, or you would find me, and that brings me so much peace. Your love has brought the pieces of me that were scattered across the floor back together and all of the pieces fit, because it was you all along. I was the puzzle only you could assemble, and you did it so gracefully and lovingly… It still blows my mind that someone like you exists, with your perfect flaws, your annoyingly handsome face and your effortless way of loving everyone you come across. You make everything look easy, you make everything easier. There is no mountain too high for me to climb, or an ocean too wide for me to cross, because I know no matter what, you’ll be there to cheer me on. You always have. And don’t get me started on Joey, because River said he'd kick my ass – sorry Father – if I ruined my makeup, and I guarantee you I will sob if I go into how much you love the biggest present life has ever given me, so… I promise to look out for your dreams as if they were my own, to yell at you when you do something dangerous for fun and to love you regardless of how many collectible items you just have to have. When you almost died in my arms, my future flashed in front of my eyes, it was filled with images of you, of us, our family, and I thought I would die of heartbreak without you. I couldn’t fathom a future without you in it. I begged for you to fight, and you did. Thank you for coming back to me. You’re my destiny, Hughes. Always and forever.”
Y/N took a shaky breath, briefly letting go of her future husband’s hand in order to keep a tear from rolling down her cheek and reaching to dry Jack's. He had let his tears roam freely and she took it upon herself to be the one to wipe them away. Whenever he needed her to.
“Mess, that’s a tough one to follow… You really said let me floor this dude with my incredibly articulate, heartfelt and funny speech , hu?” the Devils' player teased.
“I tried my best.” she snorted, glossy eyes staring into his as she took his hands to her lips and kissed his knuckles.
“If you don’t kiss her, I will!” Nico yelled from the front row.
“There’ll be time for that, young man!” the priest intervened. “But it’s Jack's time to speak. Go on, son.”
He took a shaky breath, waiting for everyone’s laughter to die down before resuming his speech.
“Y/N Y/L/N. My dream girl. My partner in crime. My I will one hundred percent stay awake and watch The Godfather trilogy with you but then falls asleep partner. The one I’ve been waiting for my whole life. I can’t believe we got here. I mean, I can, we’re pretty awesome together, but if anyone told high school Jack he’d be here today he’d flip them off. I never thought I'd get a chance, not even in a million years. I always ended up single because it never felt right, and I didn't want to get hurt. But then you came back into my life, turned my world upside down and made me feel like falling in love and letting go of my fear wasn’t such a big deal after all. You made it feel natural. And I want to be a part of your wolf pack, raise our little wolf, and maybe five others together -“
“Five?” she gasped, tapping the skin under her eyes gently to get rid of the tears that had somehow escaped her eyes.
“It’s a wolf pack, Y/N.” the groom shrugged.
“Are you trying to convince me to have five more children?”
“I’m saying I’m not objecting to that idea.”
“I... We’ll discuss it later.” the bride chuckled, patting his chest condescendingly.
“You better, I’m starving.” Luke chirped from behind Trevor.
“Yeah, sorry, buddy.” the Devils' player apologized. “Where was I?”
“Raising our little wolf?” she quirked an eyebrow at him, smirking smugly.
“Right. What I meant is that you made me want it all, and you made me want it all with you. When something good happens to me, you’re the first person I want to tell it to. When I’m sad you rearrange my breakfast so it looks like a smiley face. When I sit on the couch it takes you about zero point five seconds to place your head on my lap and less than three minutes to fall asleep in that position. You sing when you’re doing laundry. You sing my favorite songs into my ear when we’re slow dancing in the living room. You scrunch up your nose when something looks yucky. Could I carry on living if we weren’t together? Probably. Do I want to live my life without you? Absolutely not. Because, at the end of the day, I chose you and you chose me. And we will continue to choose each other for a lifetime. Unless I really let myself go. In that case, I won’t resent you if you go and marry one of my brothers or something.”
“I’d still choose you, you dummy.” Y/N rolled her eyes. “Would you choose me?”
“In a heartbeat.” he smiled. “I guess I don’t have anything else to say other than I love you and I want to protect you and make you happy. Even when I’m a ghost.”
“No! We’re not bringing up ghosts right now. I swear to god, Jack!” Alex intervened, pointing his finger at him.
“Sorry. I won’t be around when Turc comes to visit.”
“Thank you, I appreciate it.” their friend said, motioning for them to carry on.
“So be my wife. Make me sing show-tunes with you. Take me to picnics. Hold my hand. Be an embarrassing parent with me. Make me match my socks. Until we’re old and grey and don’t remember the lyrics to any songs anymore.”
“I get to pick the show-tunes.” she sniffled, beaming up at him.
“Fine.” he returned her wide grin.
“Okay! Who’s got the rings?” the priest clapped, looking over to the wedding party.
Trevor quickly handed him the small jewelry items, one of which he proceeded to place on Y/N's hand.
“Y/N, please repeat after me: I, Y/N, promise to love and support you, Jack, and live each day with kindness, understanding, truth, humor, and passion. With this ring I thee wed.”
“I, Y/N, promise to love and support you, Jack, and live each day with kindness, understanding, truth, humor, and passion. With this ring I thee wed.” the doctor repeated, sliding the wedding band into her soon-to-be husband’s finger.
“Very well. Now, Jack...” the older man began, letting him take Y/N's wedding band from his hand. “I, Jack, promise to love and support you, Y/N, and live each day with kindness, understanding, truth, humor, and passion. With this ring I thee wed.”
“ I, Jack, promise to love and support you, Y/N, and live each day with kindness, understanding, truth, humor, and passion. With this ring I thee wed.” Jack said in a shaky voice, his emotions getting the best of him as he placed the ring on her dainty finger and looked up into her bright eyes.
“Beautiful, beautiful.” the priest conceded, holding his hands up in the air. “By the power invested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife.”
The pair looked over at the older man, their hands, waiting for him to give them his blessing.
“What?” he furrowed his eyebrows when met with their expectant gaze.
“They’re waiting for you to tell them they can kiss now.” Trevor explained.
“Oh. Right. I’m sorry.” Father Willis slapped his forehead, chuckling. “You may now kiss the bride.”
Y/N immediately threw her arms around his neck and he dipped her, their lips connecting into a gentle kiss.
Cheers erupted all around the church, everyone standing up to clap for the newlyweds. They slowly broke the kiss, bright smiles on their faces, and the bride rose her bouquet in the air.
Joey ran up to her parents, hugging their legs and letting herself be scooped up by Jack, who held her in his arms while the trio embraced each other.
“This is the best day ever!” she squeaked, kissing both of their cheeks.
“I think so too, bug .” Jack agreed, looking into his wife’s eyes.
“Okay, let’s go, lovebirds. Luke already threatened to eat a chunk of my leg if we don’t feed him.” Trevor interrupted, taking Joey from Jack and placing her on his shoulders.
“It’s barely three-thirty.” Y/N groaned, taking Jack's hand.
“He’s been fasting since last night.” her husband nearly whispered. “He says he doesn’t know when he’ll have the chance to eat this much delicious food for free again, so he wants to go all out.”
“I’m at loss for words. Truly.” she laughed, looking over at their friend.
“What do you say, Joey. Ready to party?” Trevor asked the little girl, fist bumping.
“Mommy says I can’t until I’m twenty-one.” she shrugged, making Y/N and Jack exchange amused looks.
“Well, one day you’ll learn how to efficiently lie to your mother.”
“Z!” the brunette man scolded him.
“Fine.” he grunted, turning his face to Joey. “We’ll get back to that. Let’s go find Cole.”
“How do we feel about not allowing Trevor to visit anymore?” Jack asked.
“I say we don’t give him our new address.” she smiled, adjusting his bow tie.
“Good plan, wife.”
“Thank you, husband.”

I wrote up all that discourse at stupid late o'clock, but I still think I'm basically right.
I think something that's happening here that I haven't seen addressed much is that a lot of folks are reacting from places of hurt on both sides, and it's making rational conversations about this topic difficult.
From the religious Jewish side, I'm seeing folks reacting to the absolute barrage of culturally Xtian ideas, assumptions, and behavior from a large majority of interactions in the US, even from people who are not Xtian now or ever. I've been there and lived this - I have personally and recently had several anti-theists (and atheists who were essentially anti-theists but not calling themselves that) say all matter of mind-numbingly offensive things about Judaism that range from "not true" to "this is aggressively and willfully misunderstanding something as nefarious when it's really not" to "this is straight up Xtian supercessionist propaganda." Or, my perennial favorite: "no culture is free from critique, but this is 100% an intracommunity conversation that you don't know enough to meaningfully participate in, even if it were appropriate, which it's not." The first thirty times this happens, you can kind of roll your eyes about keyboard warriors and trolls, but at some point it crosses a line where it's like, dude. What is going ON with this community and why aren't the more vocal members shutting this down? Are they supporting it or just don't care? What the heck?
And I can vouch that this is happening and that it's not isolated or small numbers of idiots, because I've dealt with it a lot myself and have watched several other Jews on here deal with it a lot as well. It's an actual problem and it needs to be addressed.
That said, the big problem with these ideas and behaviors is not that they're Xtian in origin, but that they're antisemitic. There are plenty of Xtian conceptualizations of Judaism that are antisemitic and well-meaning Xtians or ex-Xtians or people who have absorbed these Xtian ideas will perpetuate them. The answer here is to educate people on why it's a problem and then it is those people's and their communities' responsibilities to listen, learn, take it seriously, and stop perpetuating antisemitic ideas, no matter why or how well-intentioned.
From the ex-xtian atheist side, I'm seeing a lot of folks reacting from a place of frustration at not having their religious trauma respected, which I get, because I have the same reaction to people not respecting my trauma either. It's a major trigger for me, and dismissing my experiences out of hand is not only not okay but very damaging.
As someone who is an ex-Xtian and is now Jewish, I can tell you that there is a massive cultural difference here that's stopping the conversation. Someone whose lived experience of religion is Xtianity only or primarily is likely going to have a hard mental barrier between religion and culture, namely because Xtianity has a habit of absorbing the local culture no matter what it is. This is intentional because Xtianity is a universalist religion and has little agenda on removing local flair. Rather, it has a serious investment in promoting its orthodoxy, regardless of how that is accomplished on the ground. This is why evangelicals will fund messianics, btw - they are less concerned with what it looks like on the surface and much more so about getting everybody on the Jesus train. If keeping external cultural symbols is what it takes to get Jews on board, then so be it.
So when a person raised Xtian apostasizes, from their perspective they are doing the ONE thing that is universally forbidden in Xtianity, which is rejecting Jesus. That is the only way to truly separate yourself from Xtianity, in the end. Everything else, some church, somewhere, is willing to work with. But you have to have faith in Jesus or you're not a Xtian, and conversely, if you reject Jesus then you've done the one surefire thing that makes it impossible to be a Xtian.
I hope this gives some context for why someone with the religious trauma of having Xtianity infect every area of their life and say "no no - we can work with this; we still own you," is going to freak the fuck out if you still say they're Xtian - even just culturally so - after they did the one true thing they knew how to do so that they could separate themselves from Xtianity and its cultural creep and osmosis.
This is not to say that their ideas or beliefs aren't still heavily influenced by Xtianity. They probably are! Heavily! But the problem is that if you tell someone that has just severed their tie to an abusive religious structure or who has been fending it off their whole lives that they themselves, as a human being - not their behavior or ideas - but they themselves as a core, inescapable part of their being, are always going to be in some way influenced and therefore owned by Xtianity, you've not only triggered that trauma, but you haven't even solved the problem. The problem is not that such a person has behaviors or ideas that originate from Xtianity, but rather that these ideas and behaviors were antisemitic to begin with. There's literally nothing wrong with observing secular Xmas. What is wrong is denying that your choice to engage a Xtian holiday, even in a way that you personally find secular, is a culturally Xtian behavior, and more importantly, if you then insist that it should be neutral or secular to Jews, you're being antisemitic and denying OUR religious trauma by imposing your understanding of secularity on us.
And as a clarification, I'm defining "religious trauma" here extremely broadly - not to water down the experiences of people who endured cultic spiritual abuse from their [former] religious organization - but rather because there is a much more diffuse (and usually milder) kind of trauma that virtually every non-Xtian, ex-Xtian, and even plenty of actual Xtians have experienced in the US. Namely, the involuntary cultural creep and control exercised by Xtian fundamentalists and christofascism.
It hits different people in different ways, based on who you are and what your experiences have been, but the bottom line is that it is virtually impossible to totally get away from the power and influence and cultural dominion of Xtianity, particularly fundamentalist Xtianity, if you live here.
For many/most Jews, it hits on several levels that include intergenerational trauma from violent Xtian antisemitism and specific efforts to convert and therefore eradicate us. There is so much trauma embedded in Jewish reactions to Xtianity that it's hard to even begin to untangle it and makes this a challenging topic no matter what. And then, of course, you also have the cultural disconnect of how we conceptualize religion and culture. For us, these things are deeply and inescapably intertwined. The question of "Who is a Jew?" is thorny, precisely because there are so many ways and levels from which to engage one's Jewish identity that are connected but need not occur together at all. So for, say, an exvangelical to simply reject Jesus would, from their own perspective, be the decisive blow that makes them not a Xtian and actively disassociating themselves from Xtianity is likely extremely important for their autonomy and mental health. But from a Jewish perspective, if they've merely ripped out the heart of their Xtianity but not addressed any of its other surrounding features, it's nowhere near adequate to then claim that they've totally and decisively separated themselves from it.
The thing is, this would honestly not be a problem (or at least not our problem) if Xtianity (particularly fundamentalist Xtianity) didn't have such an antisemitism problem. Unfortunately, because it does, both the original antisemitic behaviors/ideas and the after-the-fact denial of its relationship to Xtianity and Xtian culture(s) become our problem. Which means these interactions tend to go something like this:
Someone will spout off something antisemitic that has its origins in Xtianity.
A Jew will point out the original antisemitic behaviors/ideas and ask them to knock it off.
The first person will double down and/or demand a detailed explanation of why it's antisemitic, because they not only think they are correct, but also because they still believe that they know the important things about Judaism from learning the Old Testament in church and also likely believe in the Xtian idea of one universal Truth without realizing it.
The Jew will point out the above reality with varying degrees of patience, hoping that pointing out the (to us) obvious connections to Xtian belief and culture will get them to stop, since they are usually in the process of explaining how not-Xtian they are and how much they hate religion. This is usually done by telling the person that they are still culturally Xtian and speaking from that place. This is usually (from our viewpoint) intended as a neutral, factual statement to help the other person understand the issue fully.
This triggers that person's religious trauma around Xtian cultural creep (at a minimum, if not worse) and the person shuts down.
The conversation then devolves into "I'm not a fucking Xtian, do not call me that." vs. "I didn't say you were Xtian, I said you're culturally Xtian and speaking from that place, calm down."
Followed by: "That's still calling me a Xtian of some variety and I did The Thing I needed to do to get away from it, stop telling me I'm still associated with this group that traumatized me." "You only did one thing to get away from it?? Wow, you have a long way to go."
The original antisemitism that was the actual problem is never returned to.
What's truly unfortunate about this is that there is such potential to build interfaith solidarity around Xtian hegemony together, but we're not going to be able to do that if we don't get past the above conversation.
I don't have all the answers, but I do think that the following would go a long way towards moving past this:
Be aware of what things trigger you with regards to religion and trauma from Xtian hegemony, and step away from a conversation if you need to.
Be willing to to take into account different cultural understandings of what religion and/or culture even is.
Be willing to meet people where they're at in their process, and recognize the work they have done, even if they have a long way to go still.
Learn about antisemitism and how to recognize it. Listen to Jews when we tell you something is antisemitic.
Don't frame culturally Xtian behavior or ideas as inherent personal traits, but rather clearly describe it as a behavior or idea they could let go of.
Realize that if someone identifies a certain behavior or idea as culturally Xtian, they are typically trying to help you understand what's happening better and find commonality in opposing Xtian hegemony.
Recognize your own religious trauma, and also realize you're not the only one with it. Use that to be more empathetic and/or compassionate, rather than seeing it as a threat to the validity of your experiences.
Anyway, this got long and I don't have the time or energy to edit it down, but that is what I've come to so far.

(Apologizes if an incomplete ask sent through, I was asking a question but the Internet cut off :<)
My question was though, how much can you analyze about the English lyrics of No. 7 (anime intro)? The lyrics supposedly explain some of the story and you're the best theorist I know who can put this in an organized post XD
(Sorry if you've been asked this before haha feel free to ignore if so and have a great day!)
I looked at the Japanese and English versions, and well, to better organize the meaning of the song, I'm going to write it here in a more objective way, it will be easy to understand the meaning as you read the lyrics.
This is because the Japanese version has a lot of wordplay and puns, the English version translated it literally and in the same way as the Japanese, which made some passages confusing.
Let's get started (this is the full version of the song)
So now let me tell you the story of number 7
1 Huh? Eh? Instantly happy and sad, even the past and the future 2 Two shadows appear within the rumors (the passion turned into nothing, it's just a story) 3 A sweet fruit mixed with the unreal 4 Yes, yes, even if I tell you repeatedly 5 Look, look, you're not listening properly (passion turned into nothing, an endless story) 6 After all, the boring thing is the ugly reality 7 Morning, day and night, like ten winds and five rains, rumors circulate 8 Without becoming pure in heart, turning my back against the unchanging mirror 9 I Want Some Magic, Say Seven Mysteries, That's Not Perfect 10 But We Are Struggling Because We Are Incomplete
11 Swinging the blade, words, too far 12 Wearing the smiling mask of lies (you in that place) 13 They Were Hurt Because Of Someone Else 14 Between sin and punishment, in that place where no one exists 15 Surely He Is There So now let me tell you the story of number 7
A secret history I heard from somewhere
16 It's a secret just between you and me 17 I will not lose to you, memory nor the brittle truth 18 Let's catch up, it's a reality like a rumor from some time ago 19 Every night and morning seems stupid 20 The dance of the second, the third morning, the fourth twilight 21 First, second, third, fourth 22 Mirai, Misaki, the mirror that doesn't see, the silent solitude 23 Is it the first? the eighth? Wait, there's no eighth 24 Until the four o'clock stands, if you repent, 25 It becomes four pains, eight pains 26 Trouble Towing in Seven Rounds 27 Hits, punishment 28 Come, come strange mystery 29 My body's habits, everything, are never perfect, so We are struggling because we are incomplete
Swinging the blade, words, far away 30 Please reach out, the laughter, the overlapping lies 31 (he is still there continuously) 32 I blurred the details while pretending to be fine 33 Between sin and punishment 34 Alone, placed in that place 35 Surely he exists
36 Hiding the past, blinding the eyes in front of the destiny that is coming to an end 37 I changed once, so I will change again The answer is clear
Swinging the blade, words, far away Wearing the smiling mask of lies (You alone) Were hurt because of someone else Between sin and punishment In that place where no one exists Today it also exists
So now let me tell you the story of number 7 Hey tell me about the continued story
ANALYSIS
Let's use numbers to better analyze the excerpts
1 = could mean that Hanako is happy now to be having fun with Nene and Kou, but at the same time sad about having to deal with the past and the future (Nene's future death)
2 = This excerpt is very emblematic, but "within the rumors two shadows appear" could refer to the twins "the passion turned into nothing, it's just a story" they would be in love with each other and what remained of that story would be murder. There is also the possibility that he is referring to Nene, since Hanako-san now has an assistant. Two shadows, and the passion that turned into nothing, an impossible love.
3 = A metaphor about the contrast between reality and a distant desire
4 and 5 = Hanako's story is being told little by little and someone (it could be Nene) is not realizing the details between the lines.
6 to 10 = Complaints about how reality is terrible and he wants to experience something unreal, not just him, but the other mysteries, everyone feels incomplete and is looking for something that reality cannot offer, something that they cannot achieve but they really want it. And specifically about the mirror, he says it is unchanging, confirming that no matter what he does, nothing will change.
11 to 15 = reference to Tsukasa's death, the murder. About how Hanako lied while creating a fake smile. He hurt Tsukasa, and he went to the place where nothing exists "Surely he is there" and the verses mention the sin and punishment that Hanako has to take responsibility for.
16 to 18 = Probably Hanako talking about his past with Nene. He says he will "reach him" that is, he will tell her the whole truth.
19 to 29 = references the other mysteries and how they are all fighting to create a better version of themselves, even though they are imperfect. In addition to, of course, mentioning a little about their feelings.
30 to 35 = reference to Tsukasa, he wants Hanako to show what he really feels, at the same time that Tsukasa "blurs" the way he feels "I blurred the details while pretending to be fine" "Alone, placed in that place" "he is still there continuously" reference that Tsukasa was left on Hanako's boundary and hides that he feels sad about it.
36 and 37 = it's a little difficult to know if the speaker is Hanako or Tsukasa, the excerpts fit for both, but it's probably more linked to Hanako, since he's the one hiding the past.
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
Place where nothing exists = boundary, Hanako says that when he enters a boundary, the person ceases to exist in the human world while there.
Swinging the blade = stabbing, direct reference to murder.
In that place where no one exists, he is certainly there = clear reference that Hanako believed that Tsukasa was on the boundary
In that place where no one exists, today he also exists = reference to Tsukasa's return.
Hey tell me about the continued story = about the story we are following now
CONCLUSION
Basically it's Hanako talking about himself, about the mysteries and about Tsukasa. We also see many parts where he talks about how he feels, but in short, that's it.
The lyrics of this song change subtly according to the translation you are looking for, but the general meaning is this.
That's the way I interpreted the opening lyrics, other people may have different ways of seeing how they work, but for me that's it.

Read between the lines
Nearly scraped this but, enjoy. This one is a bit different, and requires a lot of ability to pick up on context clues and reading hidden messages in tone of voice. I know this might be difficult for some, so under the cut at the bottom is a quick explanation for my neuro divergent friends ♡
Tumblr media
"were you ever planning on telling me who you are?" the civilian asked, a hint of desperation in their voice.
"Well... if I'm honest..." the villain began uncertainly.
"You really wouldn't have ever told me?" The other snapped.
"I thought you already knew..."
"What...?"
"I kind of thought it was obvious. Maybe not at first but... I thought you'd already figured it out somewhere along the way and it was just this... unspoken thing. I mean, I could swear you'd indirectly referenced it half a dozen times! I thought you just weren't ready to talk about it..."
Something in the civillian's stomach sank, "You were letting me come to you..."
The villain nodded, "I didn't want to scare you away,"
"How long have you thought I'd known?"
"A few months at least,"
Oh. Oh god. The realization came like a slap to the face. The civilian had this all wrong, terribly wrong, "You never acted any different..."
This time, the villain furrowed their brows in confusion, "Why would I?"
You wouldn't, that was the problem. Civilian had never been in danger.
There was a beat of silence as the civilian's thoughts raced. They had so many questions, but right now, they didn't have time.
"Look, I understand if-"
"Last week," the civilian cut them off sharply, something pointed in their eyes, "We had a dinner date. Do you remember what time you met me there? I remember thinking how you showed up at the *precise time*,"
The villain narrowed their eyes slightly. They remembered showing up at 10 o'clock...
"Later that night," The civilian continued, "We went for a walk in the park. We were *looking* around at the fireflies,"
The villain picked up on the word, and it suddenly clicked.
*Look to 10 o'clock*
The villain's eyes flicked over, and they saw it. The shadow on the wall of the alleyway. They knew the hero's silhouette.
"Yeah. I remember. It was a *shadowy* night," they replied, voices tight. A sense of hurt and betrayal seized around their heart.
The civilian nodded, seemingly slightly relieved, "I guess it was a good thing you didn't tell me that night, I probably would have panicked at first. Maybe even regrettably done something momentarily stupid afterward,"
They still held the same pointed look in their eyes, and the villain had no problem reading the message between the lines.
*I panicked and what I did was stupid and I regret it.*
"That night," The civilian continued, "was the first time we ever did that, but you said we need to go walking there more often now,"
*You need to go now.*
"If we had, would you have gone with me?" The villain replied.
"Probably not," The civilian said, but before the villain could deflate, they lifted the edge of their jacket slightly, revealing the small tracker. When they were sure the villain had seen it, they met their gaze again with a soft smile, "But I would probably meet you there,"
The villain nodded, hope dancing in their eyes as a small smile made its way onto their face, "I could accept that,"
Then, suddenly, the villain vanished, having teleported away.
Tumblr media
Civilian and villain are dating, and villain thinks Civillian knows who they are, and just arent ready to talk about it, when in reality Civilian had no idea until now.
After finding out, civilian panics and goes to hero for help. They set up a trap, where civilian is wearing a tracker and microphone while hero hides near by and listens for a code word, which is the signal to pounce.
Quickly however, civilians realizes they made a terrible mistake, but can't say anything out right because hero is listening.
They mention a specific time only villain would know, and emphasize the word "look" as a way to tell villain to look in that direction so they would realize the hero was there and know what was happening.
Villain responds by emphasizing the word "shadow" to convey the message they see the heros shadow.
Civillain then begins talking in hypotheticals, but uses this as a way to convey to villain they made a mistake getting hero and regretted doing it, before warning the villain they have to leave.
Villain asks if civilian would go with them, to which civilian reveals the tracking device on them, but reassures the villain they will meet up with them again later.
