Why Lokius Should Have Been Canon
Tumblr media
This is a sort of combo of two metas that didn't quite get point my across. Some parts will be copied directly, but there's a lot of original content. I will discuss the ship between Loki and Mobius, their place in the show, and the MCU at large. My focus for this meta won't be parallels or motifs, because these things border on well-written friendships. But there will be some of that.
Romance in the MCU
There are a lot of straight couples in the MCU. (Almost) Every main hero is in some heterosexual relationship, Loki included.
Tumblr media
(That's not all, not remotely).
But in the LGBTQ+ department... uh.. I think it was mentioned that Valkyrie had a girlfriend... uh... America Chavez had a pride pin... and Loki:
Tumblr media
One line. Queer experiences are never a focal point of a show/movie the same way heterosexual experiences are. And that needs to change.
Romance In the Show
Wrong, toxic, or unsuccessfu romantic love is a recurring theme in the show.
Sylki
Sylki was an icky relationship right off the bat. They are the same person. I can't find the post at the moment, but someone has pointed out in their post that them being the same person is referenced in every episode in season 1 (edit: here it is), which is when the romance took place. This made their romance uncomfortable for many viewers.
(Some consider Sylki a toxic relationship, but for this post, the topic is too large to handle with the nuance I'd like to handle it with).
When he's drunk, Loki compares love to a dagger, stating that it hurts you, but when you try to find strength in it, it's not real.
youtube
Which is exactly what happens. Sylvie pushes Loki into a portal and they never get back together.
The Love Triangle
In 02×03, Ravonna Renslayer is infatuated with Victor Timely, but he leaves her behind and betrays her when Miss Minutes told him to. One episode later, we discover that they were indeed an item, and established the TVA together. He Who Remains deleted her memories and they never rekindle their love.
Later in the episode, is the best example of "wrong" romance in the show. Miss Minutes, the AI clock, confesses her love to Viktor Timely. He, obviously, freaks out and shuts her off. Nothing ever comes of this.
Brad and Dox
This one is small, but a big indication to romance being a theme. In 02×01, we're shown this:
Tumblr media
The gap in the age of the actors is uncomfortable, and a character in universe has this reaction to it. It is never mentioned again.
So what does all of this leave us with? Not much. None of this properly ties to the finale, or anything really. If I were to write the show I would cut a lot of this out, since it serves no purpose. But it does make you keep romance and its shortcomings in mind. The writers want it to be there, in the back of your head.
Loki and Mobius
Finally! I got to talk about them. The two people in question. First things first, who are they, together? They became really supportive, close friends.
Tumblr media
Fans even drew parallels to Chaos & Order, which is a very important theme in Loki. But I'm not here to unpack them. These things don't necessarily make them in love. So what does make them in love? I'll present you my evidence, and you ask yourself,
Would it be valid to suggest romantic implications if a man and a women are:
1) Extremely thouchy with each other.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
2) Riding on a tandem bike together.
Tumblr media
3) Willing to suffer a fate worst than death for another.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4) Falling on each other after that^
Tumblr media
5) Literally the Interrupted Declaration of Love trope. (Ex)
Tumblr media
6) Being framed in a circle.
Tumblr media
7) Waiting & giving permission to attack.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
8) Fixing themselvs before seeing the other.
Tumblr media
Of course yes. Maybe you think some of these are a strech, but ultimately, people would point out romantic connotations across the board. And I'm here, pointing them out right now. Some scenes between Loki and Mobius have romantic implications.
Conclusion
Loki is a queer protagonist in the MCU, a universe that lacks representation of queer experiences. His show constantlty reminded us of romance, sometimes for seemigly no reason. In the second season, they wrote him and his best friend with romantic implications. And then, nothing. It should not have been nothing. Lokius should have been canon.

The second season is honestly becoming increasingly harder to watch because what are they trying to do?
The show is titled Loki but he feels like a side character is his own show, I know many MANY things are happening but literally Loki is not the central figure driving the story.
My expectations were low but I did not know Disney could do this much worse!!!!
What the FUCK was episode 3 with the Miss Minutes thing and weird little Ravonna/Victor attempt???
Marvel is just getting worse and worse with what they're putting out, I want the character or even narrative driven stories back where people were well fleshed out, had consistency and their actions made sense to who there were!!! This feels like just trying to sell shock value because you know you have a base of consumers who will stay to see what happens to their favourite character.
They are absolutely ignoring all the material they have available to them to work with! This Loki has only experienced things till the Avengers movie, there is so much character deep dive they could do! What is the point of giving them their own show and then not talking about them at all??
I'll come to the queer things later cause boy do I have a list for that, but first of all, Loki is not a new character in any capacity??? He has been loved and is arguably the biggest fan favourite since his introduction, the amount of theories about him and what people would like to see is very well known!! Right in front of them is his still unclear feelings in his adoption, about being a Jotun, loosing his family and the complicated relationships with them. I can see they are acknowledging his God of Mischief status a little bit but!! Trickster!! Let us see him be a wild card properly!! Not in the sense of betraying his new TVA family - that's what it is and you can fight me on that- but being chaotic!! Yes, using his magic like with Brad!! SHOW ME HE IS A GOD!!!
The worst thing is how lost everyone feels, like I'm not talking about the whole free will conundrum everyone is going through, that is spectacular! Unfortunately it is not coming across, we literally don't get to hear any of the characters talk about what they think of it. There was the key lime pie moment but no follow up to what that is for Loki? It's just one crisis after another, maybe rehash some of what has already happened, bring back the seriousness of this!! The entire multiverse is at stake but we'll make it look like whimsical wishy-washy stuff??!??!!!
Don't get me wrong, I am LOVING the time travel aspect of it, where it looks like Loki/Mobius are on cute dates. But then make it real, the fucking queerbaiting is ridiculous. The throw-away comment in season one about looking being bi was just that and nothing else. And I'm not saying this cause aww they look cute together! But also cause the development of their relationship has been as such!! They have been very dependent on each other and that's not being addressed at all.
I know there are multiple posts about a possible betrayal and my fear is that they're going to try to use that to basically change everything about the characters again, a lot of OOC based on the fact that oh yeah they're going through an existential crises so it makes sense.
Sylkie made barely any sense to me even apart from the whole selfcest issue- they just imposed a the structure of what a straight relationship should be where there was barely any chemistry. S1 E3 had them as really good chaotic siblings/twins and then adding the romantic tones to that really ruined it. Trying to bring it back, possibly, is just weird cause so far they want very different things. These people just don't align together, stop forcing them to? The fact that they refuse to even talk about that kiss shows that they are keeping it open and not just acknowledging that "hey, we don't want the same things in life and I'm happy for you, you matter a lot to me but a romantic relationship is not happening. Also cause you know, we're the same person, lol."
Sylvie as a character is also very confusing rn, there is honestly no need for her to keep coming back in this way??? I'm going to reserve further opinions because half the season is left but I dont expect anything to really get better.

@miss-d-tiare Answering here because it wouldn't fit in a whole comment.
So, let's recap: I made a post expressing my opinion about Sylki, and you reblogged my post and commented on it saying I am a drama queen and that I should get myself a real problem, and when I answered you answered too once again this time not reblogging (mh, maybe because I told you it's just free notes for me and you are giving me visibility that way, mhh...)
Anyway, since I don't want to drag this conversation forever, I'll answer all of your points and quit this once and for all.
Dude, you have never experienced the pain and suffering of a one-sided crush? He likes her so much that, maybe for the first time ever, he's behaving like a normal person would do instead of just taking everything he wants like the spoiled and childish god hengrew up to be. This is a new level of rejection that actually impacts on him, and that's why he looks miserable.
Yes, I had one-sided crushes, more than one, and yes, they do make you miserable, but for different reasons. And the people I had a crush on didn't try to kill me or hurt me.
It's not the first time he falls in love, he said it himself in Episode 3 Season 1: he's had partners, but they didn't last that long. Furthermore, I would highly recommend you rewatch Thor (2011) and all the movies where Loki appears, because he has never been a selfish person, he says it himself (again) many times: when he tells Thor that he doesn't want the throne but wanted to be his equal when he tells Sylvie that he didn't want the throne but just wanted to see her safe and sound… So no, Sylvie is not the heroine who saved him and is changing him, he was like that already from time but was misunderstood by everyone else. And she is no exception because for the entirety of Season 1 (especially in Episode 6) and Season 2, she's still doubting and even said it openly that he still only wants the throne, and keeps refusing to fully understand him.
And let's not forget that IT IS A FICTIONAL SHOW!!! Some conflict MUST happen, or else people would complain it's too boring. The only character who could be so important to Loki besides of his brother is Sylvie, anyone can see that's only logical that the plot conflict involves both of them.
First of all: are you aware that movies and TV series are made to entertain people? Are you aware that social media just like Tumblr are made for people to express their opinions about things? So you saying "It's fictional!1!11" is just stupid because almost everyone here on Tumblr is here to talk about what they like on their blogs, you are doing it by responding to my posts. Since movies and TV series are fiction we shouldn't talk about them at all, by your logic. I am a psychology student, so I like to do psychological analyses of characters and give my opinion, you are completely free to agree or not, I don't care. But you can't come to my blog and tell me that I'm a drama queen and that I have to find real problems, that's just plainly disrespectful. And I already have my problems in my life, thank you very much.
This is not about conflict and entertainment: this is about Marvel making horrible decisions. You can create excellent conflict between characters without romanticizing abuse and domestic violence. And all of this wouldn't have happened if the directors of the series hadn't insisted on Sylki being a romance. If it was a friendship we'd probably be all quiet and just shrug it off with a "Sylvie is a horrible friend". But since this is romantic, well... some of y'all need to understand IT IS NOT OKAY for someone to be violent towards the other partner in a relationship. Romance + violence = ABUSE.
And if you don't understand where the abuse is, I suggest you read this post from @shadow-turtle-234 (forgive me for dragging you in </3).
People should definitely stop treating the relationship between FICTIONAL CHARACTERS as an example of real life human interactions, ffs! They're complex in their own way, and appealing and all but in the end they're not real so stop being drama queens and calling two fictional characters "toxic" 🤣🤣 get yourselves a real problem instead of making one up
Breaking news: fiction is based on real-life dynamics! Even more breaking news: fiction can influence real-life dynamics! Romanticizing abuse and domestic violence is awful, especially on the part of Marvel, a franchise that is also followed by very young people who could get the wrong message. It could also cause someone who has suffered or suffers from abusive situations to suffer even more seeing that someone suddenly decided that hurting the person you "love" is romantic.
My life isn't all about Tumblr, as I said I have my problems outside of social media, so if I express an opinion I don't think it's an issue. I'm just expressing my thoughts, did it suddenly become forbidden?
Do I like, need your permission or smt to alter and post a text I wrote? What did I miss?? 🤨🤨
Nah, that was just a fun remark I made, of course, you don't need my permission. I just found it funny how you both commented and reblogged, giving me free notes and visibility. Good for me I guess.
And the double standard is where, exactly?
Double standards exist because Marvel already has problems with writing female characters. Since they don't know how to make a decent strong female character anymore (aside from a few exceptions like Peggy Carter and Jane Foster), Marvel just thinks belittling the male counterpart's trauma and actions is enough to show how strong and smart the female counterpart is. And with Sylvie, they brought this to exaggeration, because not only she belittles Loki's trauma and treats him like shit, but keeps trying to hurt him and even attempted his murder several times. But since she's a woman Marvel thinks is okay, and a lot of people think that too.
But imagine if it was Loki to belittle her, insult her, attack her, and hurt her in any way. Y'all would be screaming and yelling at Marvel because "Oh em gee, they romanticized abuse, omg!1!!!" since he's a man. Domestic violence against men is rare, but it exists too, but apparently, it is considered "girlboss" and "cool" for a woman to hurt a man.
I keep maintaining it's all freaking fiction and that it doesn't work like resl life, you really should stop reading so much into it, it's not healthy pal 👍🏻
What I do with my blog and my life is none of your business.
In conclusion: I said what I had to, and I no longer intended to keep entertain this conversation with you.

late night thoughts about sylvie
- its even more clear this season that she is loki’s foil in every single possible way and its highlighted so many times
- i hate the idea of sylki selfcest as much as any other person, but you gotta admit that when disregarding all the outside-of-plot bullshit (disney being homophobic or just not caring about the characters) it is sort of an interesting dynamic (mostly during this season) because i think that trying to figure out how to act with a version of yourself, someone who you know to their core because you have the same one, someone you could have been but aren’t and desperately want to stop them from heading down a road you could have gone or have gone, is a sort of difficult experience
- so yeah ill be disappointed if sylki happens again because i think that it makes much more sense that they exist as the same person with the same thinking processes and mentalities but aimed at different goals - simpler put sort of the same plane but different direction, or same root different philosophy
- so i think its compelling and frustrating to have someone that you know has the potential of seeing your point of view perfectly and understanding you deeply but still taking the same base data (lets say) and interpreting them in a very different way
- i think the most clear example of that is the pie room conversation - they know perfectly well how and why the other is choosing the sides and interpretations and actions that they do, but in the end they reach vastly different conclusions
- and in that moment i think loki’s connection to sylvie is very clearly shown: not only he sees his past lost lonely self in her, he also understands her like he understands himself and wants to show her that his way might be better for them
- also of course in the “its time to write your own story” “i can rewrite the story” parallels
- and i think it would be fitting if both of their perspectives affected what will happen in the finale (although my own opinion is that loki is the one more in the right and given that he is the main character and had the greatest development he should have most of the impact on how the season is resolved)
- but i also think that ultimately the writers can take a different approach and make them unfoil lets say and find common ground which can of course unfortunately end with yet another moment of selfcest
- bonus thought is that the show has to somehow connect after this to the rest of the mcu so i dont think that any connection to sylvie will be very permanent i think shes going to be more like a stray cat that stumbles into the plot when it wants or is dragged in kicking and scratching when needed
but then again this is just a pile of semicoherent thoughts so take from that what you will
- bonus thought #2 once again when we disregard the outside of the plot, i think sylvie isnt meant to be exactly likeable (or at the very least, that isnt the purpose of the character) - she is meant to do precisely what she is doing, foiling loki (a character we obviously root for) and showing us his emotional and mental and philosophical insides through her reflection as well as being a sympathetic and understandable character because she shows us that alternative mindset that we might not necessarily agree with (or do agree with! it just gives us something to compare loki’s own decidions and perspectives to)

I have seen antis call sylki a toxic relationship. They call Sylvie abusive and Loki a simp. And I feel there is a simple reason for that. One, subversion of gender stereotypes in relationship and not conforming to accepted behaviour of conduct. Let me explain what I mean.
For the longest time, Loki has been the fandom sexy man. People romanticised his toxic masculine traits, his broken persona, his trauma, his damaged emotional state and unhealthy coping mechanisms because it made him appealing. He was literally the fandom 'brooding guy'.
And typically in media and fiction, the brooding guy has been paired with the gentle girl. This girl is often kind, shy and docile who offers kind words, affection, companionship and care. And this love and care of her coaxes the brooding guy out of his shell and heals him with the power of love. Most often than not, this girl only serves the purpose of being the emotional support crutch for the brooding guy. And most times, her entire world revolves around the brooding guy. He and his troubles turn into the centre of her universe and she drops everything in her own life to help him out.
A great example of this is Mary St. Jacques in the 'Bourne Identity' (the book, not the movie). Yes, she's shown as an accomplished and independent woman (and not exactly a gentle girl personality wise), but that doesn't change the fact that she drops her entire life and gets embroiled in the world of gangsters and assassins, all for a man she doesn't know from before and who holds her hostage at gun point. From then on, in the first book, her entire arc is helping Bourne find out who he is.
Now, this gentle girl often fulfills the 'I can fix him' fantasy. Where a woman with her unconditional love and support can fix a broken man. This is so often romanticised in romance novels to the point of expecting the women to keep up with abusive behaviour in the name of helping the broken, brooding man
And that's what many people were expecting Loki's love interest to be. They expected him/her to be totally devoted to Loki, to mother him, be the only person he was close to, be his emotional crutch and heal his traumas or atleast try to fix him.
But the series went the opposite way. Instead of Loki's love interest being the one to carry the burden of his trauma, they gave Loki an even broken women to fall in love with. Sylvie is drowned in so many of her own insecurities and traumas, that she can't be Loki's emotional crutch. That doesn't mean Sylvie doesn't care. Because she does and she has proven it many times. She tells him his mother must be proud of him, holds his hand on Lamentis, asks him if he was ok in ep 4, gives him her sword during the timekeepers chamber fight. She prunes herself to find Loki, gives him the tempad to offer him a way out and doesn't want him to follow her to Alioth because it could be a suicide mission.
She cares a lot, but not in the way women are expected to care for their men in a relationship. She doesn't carry the entire burden of his trauma or try to fix him. She doesn't shower him with outward, emotional displays of affection. Most of her affection is hidden in plain sight. And so she is called a smug, arrogant, abusive bitch.
On the other hand, instead of the Dom! Loki the fandom headcannoned, we got a soft, thoughtful Loki who cared for Sylvie, cheered her on, assisted her achieve her goal and loved her unconditionally. He loved Sylvie how a woman should be loved, but he gets called Sylvie's dog and a simp for it, because a man supporting his woman and respecting her makes him seem weak. People prefer the toxic, possesive, dominating behaviour as a sign of love over true respect and care.
And because of this thinking, people think Loki is weak. Because he doesn't dominate over Sylvie. Because he doesn't try to own her or control her.
Some say Loki was henpecked because he simply put up with whatever Sylvie said or did. But that is a lie because the moment he didn't agree with her stance in ep 6, he stood up against her and stopped her in ep 6. That means Loki was willing to stand up against Sylvie when he felt the need to. And that is a sign of true confidence and strength.

Hi. I’m a bisexual and genderfluid (currently only MCU, but hoping to expand) Loki fan that makes content for Genderfluid MCU Loki cause the series writers are queer baiting double crossing cowards. I am also a diehard yet careful Sylki shipper who genuinely feels like a traitor for shipping Sylki at times. I often think I should abandon ship, but the ship has been a bright spot through some of the worst trauma of my life and personally resonates with me so deeply I do not believe I will be able to fully sever myself from it. Sylki is my otp. My conscience is fighting my heart, and has been for a while now.
A. I understand that while the romance is a brilliantly executed metaphor for healthy self love based in Loki’s own struggles with self loathing and self obsession, (and Sylvie’s to an extent,) between two characters who intentionally click and contrast very well, the romance as presented in canon has offensive elements such as contradicting Loki’s genderfluidity by making Sylvie the token woman variant, giving Sylvie AoA Loki’s broken horn, and not explicitly refuting the idea Loki, a presumably amab genderfluid person, would love Sylvie, their “female self,” based off narcissism and ‘autogynephilia,’ instead of sharing a soul, mutual understanding and similar trauma…as most Sylkis understand to be the case.
B. I acknowledge that these problematic tropes should never be ignored and must be changed, though they won’t be in canon. This infuriates me. I often ponder if even interacting with canon Sylki in a positive way betrays my other genderfluid peers who have genuine criticism with the series and the ship, but I have come to the conclusion the way I uniquely enjoy the ship is not harmful. I am willing to change my conclusion if necessary, and I have been trying to open up the conversation over the harmful parts of the show with other sylkis. So far, they have been very receptive and truly well meaning.
C. If you want something done right… do it yourself. So I took the mistakes the writers made and I fixed them my fucking self in fanon by showcasing MCU Loki’s genderfluidity in a respectful way, demanding headcanoning (amab?) androgynous girlflux she/they Sylvie, and writing the Sylki relationship as based in understanding and admiration of each other as individuals, not shallow love for themselves. Anything that gets added to insult next season will also be changed by me, if possible. To me, Sylvie Laufeydottir is a perfectly tailored and suited love interest for MCU Loki and a clever way of adapting Sylvie Lushton to the MCU (with the addition of more Loki traits as she is a Loki variant). Thus it is my personal belief she is too interesting of a character to scrap.
C. I am planning to raise hell when if the writers pull anymore transphobic bullshit next season… down to boycotting Marvel or going on strike or even leaving the ship if it gets bad enough. The last option would…break me. I have very little light in my life left, due to personal trauma I do not feel comfortable sharing, and Sylki and it’s community have genuinely been one of my last few comforts. If I truly I must jump ship for the good of others, I will try my hardest to brave the lonely sea.
D. I do not condone the mess we were given, I do not perpetuate it, and I am not responsible for the harm it causes. I am condemning the same problematic writing choices, and petitioning to change the same uncomfortable elements that Sylki antis do, just via a different approach. Instead of throwing the existing romance away, I fix what we were given, preserving the parts I liked and rejecting what was offensive. I am not anti Sylki altogether, and I am not pro Sylki altogether. I am a genuine critical thinker. My blog is Sylki as it should have been, not how it was.

I've been reading your posts about the Loki series. Personally I don't like the series, because I don't like the Sylvie-Loki romance or general dynamic, Mobius Loki dynamic (it's not a friendship to me, I think Mobius tortures him). I also don't like how Loki is constantly characterized as selfish when his actual characterization is so much more nuanced and complicated. That being said, I'm enjoying your posts about the series and wanted to know, what do you like about the first season?
The greatest issue of both those dynamics- especially Lokius- is a huge difference between what's showed and what apparently almost everyone sees happening.
Loki decides to trust Sylvie, because... I don't even know why. Probably because she's supposed to be like him, and there's no one better around. He gives up his longing for appreciation, since it's actually pretty comfy there in the back, and accepts the role of her second fiddle. I know feelings can happen, but this is fiction, so we should be able to see the process, and the switch between simple understanding and clearly romantic setting feels too violent to me.
Mobius is closely familiar with Loki's intended life. He uses both Loki's real deeds, and future-that-never-happened to this one, to manipulate and emotionally blackmail him. He calls him names, threatens him, acts as if Loki owed him loyalty... but since he's using the word "friend", people seem to accept it. And so does Loki.
In general, Loki's constantly treated as some sort of horrible person, yet the worst we see him do, is making Hunter B-15 come back few times the way she made him earlier. He's basically a puppy. He doesn't hurt people, who don't hurt him, he only lies in attempt to gain some kind of leverage, so he's not fully at TVA's mercy. They even take away his magic, ensure he understands he's less than disposable, he's helpless, but since they call him dangerous, he's treated as such.
The first half of the season wasn't bad, because it introduce rather horrible institution and its impact on its victim's life. But instead of focusing on that, it somehow evolves into "Loki needs to become better, forgive, forget and help others, because they're victims just as much as he is.", which completely ignores that even those victims can cause harm, and that doesn't magically disappear once we learn it's not really their fault.
I have also a huge issue with the Sylki dynamics, that seems to say "When you feel like you're never appreciated enough, you should find someone, for whom you'll become the second WILLINGLY", the kind of message I wholeheartedly disagree with.
As in other cases, it would seem I like mostly the lost potential.

For your fic ask: F!
F: Share a snippet from one of your favourite dialogue scenes you've written and explain why you're proud of it.
so, I have already been asked this, but I'm not a very dialogue-focused writer so I don't think I actually *have* a favorite but of dialogue I've written. that said, I do like this part from one of my Sylki fics:
"You okay?" She asks. It should be code, by now, all the different ways they ask each other if they're alright.
Loki shrugs. "We're about to walk into yet another situation that will likely lead to one or both of us injured, dead, or in the wrong timeline — again; quite honestly I'm not sure which is worse. So..."
"Just a regular Tuesday, then," Sylvie finishes for him, smirking. It's a small victory when he meets her eyes and smiles. Sylvie isn't any more pleased about the risks they take on a day-to-day basis than he is, but she'd like to think she hides it better.
most of my fics are a lot more melancholy whereas this one is mostly fluff, so I was able to write more light dialogue than what I tend to, and this dynamic is pretty much everything to me. they're both so snarky and banter-y all the time, even when there's serious things happening, and it's really really fun to write. also I think the fact that asking each other if they're ok is kinda The Sylki Thing(TM) bc like?? how much cuter does it get?
and as you can tell, I tend to be uh... perhaps even a bit *overly* introspective at times?? even when I'm writing dialogue lol, I always have so many little interludes and such because I think the best part of writing fanfiction is the ability to get into the character's heads and oftentimes I use it as an opportunity to write meta, but in a prose kind of way. so, yeah, I do like this bit a lot :)
fanfic asks list!!

Why, even ignoring the incest/self-cest, Sylki is still a terrible pairing
1. Sylvie is a terribly written character
Sylvie has virtually no personality outside of being a #girlboss Mary Sue. Her only purpose in the show is to be the “superior Loki” - she gets to be the badass while making Loki look like a blithering idiot by comparison. Even though this show is supposed to be centered around Loki, he does virtually nothing throughout the whole series, and Sylvie is the one they want us to be hyping around, even though we have no prior connection with her. For a creative team that claims to love Loki, they certainly seem to hate him.
2. Sylvie does not give a shit about Loki
If the writers of this show were trying to convince me that Sylvie at any point reciprocates Loki’s feelings for her, they did a terrible job of it, because I do not buy it for a SECOND. They have absolutely no chemistry whatsoever. Any time Loki tries to convey his feelings for her, Sylvie doesn’t look happy or in love. If anything, she just looks uncomfortable. Not to mention, in the scene where Loki gets pruned right in front of her, she has virtually no reaction at all. She isn’t sad or upset that Loki’s gone, because Loki was never a priority to her. She constantly belittles him, invalidates his trauma, and tells him to shut up when he tries to speak his mind. Any time Loki brings up his past, she immediately shuts him down because what she went through was sooooo much worse. That is not what Loki needs in a romantic partner. Loki needs someone who makes him feel valued and understood, not yet another character who uses every chance they get to treat him like shit. But apparently, the way she treats him is perfectly acceptable, because the writers want you to believe that Loki is nothing but a pompous narcissist who doesn’t deserve sympathy or respect and needs to be “put in his place.” The fact that they are trying to pass this off as a positive relationship feels, to me, like an example of the toxic brand of feminism where women push men around and invalidate their feelings in the name of “being progressive” instead of working with them to create an equitable environment for everyone.
3. The relationship is incredibly forced and rushed
We literally spend one 42-minute-long episode getting to know Sylvie before Loki suddenly decides, out of nowhere, that he’s in love with her. In a four-hour-long, six-episode show, that is not nearly enough time to develop a well-established relationship. And for a character like Loki, who they are trying to establish has trust issues, it seems ridiculous that he would allow himself to fall in love with someone and become that vulnerable around them after spending only a day with them. Keep in mind that this is 2012 Loki, a character who has just escaped the influence of the Black Order, where it was heavily implied that he was tortured and mind-controlled. He should be on his guard constantly and be wary of the idea of even being allies with anyone, much less falling in love with them.
Long story short, even if the incest/self-cest thing doesn’t make you uncomfortable, Sylki is still a shit pairing and a clear demonstration of how Kate Herron and Michael Waldron fundamentally do not understand or respect Loki’s character.

it's not a plot hole if you do it on purpose
okay but there's a few "anti sylki" takes about at the mo which are converging in my head to form Wait I Think That Might Be How Whatever S2's Plot Is Gets Resolved and i am gonna splurge that onto a tumblr post because alas there is nobody around to stop me. And I shall be using screencaps to illustrate because everyone enjoys looking at hot people, right?
Tumblr media
we shall start with the following sub-tumble: this bit of touching causing a nexus event is not actually a plot hole. we have indeed established that you don't get those things in an apocalypse, as proved by the fact that they didn't cause one just by arriving on Lamentis (neither of them is "supposed" to be on this timeline). by the rules we've been given thus far there should be no possible way for anyone to cause a nexus event here. certainly not by holding hands, ffs!
Tumblr media
that's why everyone in this shot looks so surprised! WTF! "that's not someone stepping on the wrong leaf!" yelps mobius, who knows what to expect in such scenarios. he has spied an obvious plot hole and it shocks him! but for now we don't need to know how that impossible nexus event happened because for the short-term plot this is gonna get those damn variants 'safely' back to the TVA.
Tumblr media
they are brought in and immediately separated. this is (maybe) important! they will not be in the same room together until near the end of the episode, which means no touching or doing any other gooey emo stuff at each other.
Tumblr media
when they do reunite we discover that The Time-Keepers Don't Real. shocking twist! Oh no, Sylvie despairs as her years-long plan to bring down the TVA falls to roboty pieces around her!
Tumblr media
And to sub-tumble again: I absolutely agree that Loki is having A Thought here about something Mobius said to him earlier in the episode. To wit: "the nexus event the two of you caused, whatever that connection is, can bring this whole place down." Mobius - who as we recall knows that the nexus event on Lamentis should not have happened - reckons that whatever the fuck that was must be pretty powerful. and he has a point (maybe). if holding hands can cause an impossible nexus event in an apocalypse what would happen if they got handsy and/or emotional at each other inside the TVA itself?
Tumblr media
'Fear not, Sylvie, for I have worked out how to bring this motherfucking place down! Maybe those dudes were robots BUT we can still fix this because... um...' ALAS this is going to require some actual Feels to be expressed D: D: Loki awkwardly attempts to lead into this by explaining the theory: "We will figure this out. [...] Because, uh… Well, back on Lamentis…" Eventually he gives up and seemingly decides to just go right for the Declaration Of Feels.
Tumblr media
OOPS, NOW HE'S FUCKIN DEAD, guess they won't be bringing down the TVA after all. Note that after all this we see a fair bit of nexus-tempting touchy-feely stuff but (BUT!) it all happens outside of the TVA and outside of normal time (whatever the heck normal time even is). And it seems you really can't cause a nexus event there.
And here I stop with one simple observation: Mobius's theory that getting your ship on with yourself can break whatever the TVA is remains untested and thus not proven wrong. This whatever-it-is might still destroy the weird agency that controls everything. Now that I have gone to all the effort of doing this post it probably won't but it might.

Y'all I can't with yall. Lokius doesn't have an single moment of romance. Mobious literally calls Loki a broken kid and I'm supposed to ship them? I can't. It's almost as if people are angry at bisexuals liking the opposite gender, which totally erases what bisexual means. Y'all can pretend it's the selfcest, or whatever the fuck you're calling it; but y'all be lying to yourselves if you say it's that cause you be shipping spiderwen x miles all the same. That's what sylki is. (shhhh just say it's the bierasure & biphobia and go) They are the same character but different people. I doubt the Loki's of different race, and species are somewhat related to Loki. Oh wait! They're not! They all take the role of the god of mischief but they are different people. Please understand that.
Also, yes Sylvie kissed Loki to push him away; but she also kissed him cause she wanted to. Just like he couldn't kill her, she couldn't kill him because she feels things for him. She only pushed him away because she wholeheartdly believed killing this time keeper was the one way ticket towards freedom for everybody. Yes, revenge was in her mind. And yes, she's killed before; but she is tired of being manipulated and being told what she should or should not be. She got it wrong, yes; but that does not erase her intentions. And as heartbroken as Loki may be, I think a part of him will come to understand that. There will be drama for sure. I think he may be, even, a bit angry. But he will see himself in Sylvie cause they lived out the same roles that were forced upon them. I don't know how it may end between them; but I sure as heck hope they get what they deserve. Even if they have to part, I think they deserve individual happiness (together or not).
Note: Also they did say Loki was getting a male love interest but I do not think it will be Mobious AT ALL. I honestly think its one of those ships that people ship just because both are males despite there being zero romantic writing in it.
I patiently will wait for Loki to have a proper male love interest or for at least for his attraction of males to be shown if he does end up with Sylvie. Whatever it may be, I really wish people would stop hyping lokius up since there is no romantic undertone whatsoever and instead gives off the vibe of Mobious wanting to adopt Loki.
Anyways, I said what I said.
Let's wish Both Sylvie, and especially Loki, a happy well deserved ending.

Its astonishing but not surprising
just how much Loki stans are obsessed with who he fucks and thats all they focus on,
instaed of talking about how his own series is stealing his powers from him.
Noone cares. He can be without any powers also entire episode 5 and 6, with only waving Laevateinn a little bit in the finale, and you all would still not care and say shit like “there is still season 2,im sure they will fix it there”
IT SHOULD HAVE ALREADY BEEN FIXED!!!!
DECADE I WAITED FOR LOKI SOLO PROJECT, BELIEVED TOM´S LIES ABOUT HOW SERIES WILL EXPLORE HIS POWERS AND WHAT I GOT AFTER 75% OF THE SHOW ARE 2 ENERGY BLASTS AND ONE TELEKINETIC MOVE. THATS ALL.
AFTER
DECADE
OF
WAITING
AND
THIS
BEING
HIS
SHOW
(or at least they call it that, doesnt really seem like Loki show)
So keep focusing on Sylki or Lokius. Keep not giving a shit about Loki´s sorcery.
But know this - all of you are reason Marvel will never show his powers. Because when its time to step up and finally say to creators what you dont like, you chose to go “why Sylki?” instaed of “where is his magic?”
And Marvel knows. They know any shit they put out, if Tom is there, you will watch it and keep your mouth shut.

I’m Not Okay | Loki x Sylvie
Sylvie can't keep her emotions under control. So Loki decides to comfort her with something he knows that she loves.
This is just disgusting fluff.
(Established Sylki Relationship - Set way after Loki S1)   Sylvie clenched her fists hard as she walked over to the bed, her head pounded as she quickly climbed on. She curled up into a ball and lay on top of the sheets, she slammed her eyes shut and tried to fight the shiver that racked throughout her entire body.
She had just been walking around the TVA establishment, thinking about all she had been through due to the company. Ravonna and Mobius were now working towards something better. It brought up some bad memories and made her panic, so she quickly excused herself from Mobius' company and headed for her room that she shared with Loki.
She tried so hard not to think about her life up until this point. The TVA was moving onto something so much more than it ever could be. She tried to focus on that.
But it was becoming increasingly difficult. The amount of betrayal she had endured throughout her years on the run, her so called 'friends' ratting her out to the TVA here and there. A single tear rolled down her cheek as she curled even tighter, the feeling of being alone settled in again. She had been alone on the run for so long... Upon meeting Loki, she knew that she wouldn't have to be alone for much longer. But right now, the feeling was becoming way too much and she felt like she was on her own all over again.
Her breathing was laboured and she was finding it difficult to keep the tears at bay now, they managed to escape from behind her closed eyes, "This will pass..." she whispered to herself through shaky breaths, "This will pass," she tried to convince herself, although she was finding it difficult to believe her own words.
People had told her that she deserved to be alone, so she had a tough time with trusting others. Loki and Mobius were the only people who she could consider as friends. She was even starting to form a friendship with B-15. She had actual friends. Well... maybe something more with Loki.
But that didn't mean that she no longer had trust issues, she always made sure that she was prepared for some sort of betrayal from either of them. She feared that she would end up alone again.
She started to feel anger rise within her. Anger directed at herself. She shivered again, biting her lip. She wanted to be okay, her heart ached with need.
A soft voice caused her eyes to snap open, "Sylvie?" she had her back to the door, but she would always recognise that voice, "Sylvie, what happened?" Loki asked, she could sense the panic within his voice.
Closing her eyes once more she remained in her position, not wanting to meet Loki's gaze. She didn't want to appear as weak, "N-Nothing. Nothing," she wasn't sure if she was trying to convince herself or Loki at this point, “I’m okay.”
I’m not okay.
Loki was by her side almost instantly, he sat on the bed. He made sure to give her the space she needed, he knew that she wasn't entirely used to people being so touchy-feely with her, "Sylvie? Can you turn over and look at me?"
Another tear escaped her eye, she let out an unwanted sniff causing Loki to shift a little bit closer. She cursed herself for being so weak, "I'm fine, Loki," her voice was filled with anger, a part of her hoped that he would leave. A bigger part of her hoped that he would stay.
He let out a soft sigh, "I'm not leaving."
Sylvie stiffened in response, still not entirely sure if she should turn to face him, "I-I..." she stopped herself from talking as she noticed the falter in her own voice, her breathing was becoming more and more difficult.
Loki decided to carefully place a hand on her harm, he retracted his hand once she flinched against his touch. He hushed her before gently putting his hand back, this time she relaxed under his touch, "My love," he spoke sweetly, trying to bring her back, "Deep breaths. I'm here."
Another sniffle escaped the woman before she finally decided to turn over, Loki's hand dropped from her arm as she turned so her front would face him. He smiled sadly down at her before leaning back against the headboard of the bed, if Sylvie wanted to be touched or hugged then she would initiate it. In moments like this, Loki knew that she could take his touches in a negative way if he wasn't careful.
"Loki?" barely a whisper escaped from Sylvie after a few moments of silence.
"Yes?" he asked, softly.
Her eyes reluctantly opened to find his, "Can you show me the thing?" she hoped. Her eyes stung from the tears.
"The thing?" he teased with a smirk, "Whatever could you mean?"
She let out a small laugh, "Shut up. You know what I want," she took a deep breath before sitting up, she wiped a tear away. Her eyes fell away from Loki's, suddenly feeling a huge pang of weakness once again. She clenched her fists again before quickly moving to sit in front of Loki, he opened his legs so she could lean her back against his front. Loki knew it was best not to question why she did the things she did, he smiled and simply accepted it. He was more than happy to hold her in his arms, she fit just right.
"Ready for the thing?" he asked, one of his arms snaked around her to pull her closer. The smile remained on his face as he felt her relax under his touch.
Shaky fingers came to rest on the arm around her, she leaned the back of her head against his shoulder, "Yes," she couldn't wait for what was about to come, both of them had quickly found out that Loki's little trick calmed her. They didn't really know why, but Loki was more than happy to help her out.
His free hand slowly raised up and he faced his palm up towards the ceiling. Sylvie let out a shaky breath as familiar lights started to appear from his hand.
Fireworks.
A sad smile graced her face, tears freely falling. Loki leaned the side of his head against hers, Sylvie's glossy eyes shined from the lights in front of her. The soft noise of the crashes and bangs was music to her ears, an occasional sniff escaped her which made Loki’s heart ache in response.
"Sylvie?" Loki whispered, both of their eyes remained on the fireworks.
"Y-Yes?"
He sighed, "You'll be okay. Everything's going to be okay. I hope..." he took a deep breath, "I hope that one day you will see that I'm truly here for you. I betrayed your trust once, and I could never do that again. You don't deserve to be alone."
The smile stayed on her face at hearing his words, she tried to lean back into him even more - craving his touch. The fireworks soon died down as Loki lowered his hand, he now wrapped both of his arms around her and rocked her against him.
"Thank you," she whispered, "You don't deserve to be alone either," he had told her about what Sif had said to him so long ago.
Loki shuffled against the pillows to get comfy, the pair soon closed their eyes - happy with the contact they were sharing. This wouldn't be the first time they've fell asleep like this, Loki would wake up and complain about the aches he felt from sleeping in a position like this. Sylvie would laugh him off and tell him to stop moaning about it.
"You can trust me. Always."
She kept her eyes closed, feeling slumber start to take over, "I do trust you..." That may have been a lie, but she hoped that one day she could truly trust the man behind her. She would do whatever it takes to overcome her trust issues, and she knew that Loki would be by her side throughout it... Well... She hoped he would be.
Loki manages to place a feather-light kiss against the top of Sylvie's head, in order not to startle her, "I'm here for you. I'm never leaving," he paused, as if deciding whether or not to say the next part. A shaky breath of his own left him, "I love you, Sylvie."
She pulled his arms tighter around herself in response, not wanting him to let go.
I love you too, Loki.

At this point Loki dying again would be a mercy killing. It would suck big time but I probably wouldn't even be mad at Loki sacrificing himself for Sylvie because it's something I can see happening since the writers and their vision is so predictable.
As long as they don't pull the "someone to remember him by" trope and have Loki knock Sylvie up before dying because 🤢
(sorry to bring that up but I don't trust the guy who's been caught liking stuff about a sylki baby)
Oh no, I'm gonna be sick 😰😂
It's absolutely crazy to me that before the series aired we wanted more of Loki, a TV show and a movie and whatever they were ready to throw our way, but now after S1 we're basically asking them to stop, kill him off and just leave him alone. That's how bad they've written him! And they think we're complaining because we got nothing better to do and we're just a bunch of haters? Please, we've been fans of Loki for over a decade, we wanted more of him not less.
It should be easy enough for them to understand that if a big portion of the Loki fanbase (not the MCU fanbase mind you, the ones who have been fans of Loki for years) are telling you that you got it wrong, perhaps you should listen? I'm not saying that writers and creators should listen to the fans and do what we want them to do, of course not, but if you have written a series about an already established character and the folks who know him up and down tell you there was something wrong, it wouldn't hurt to listen? To try and understand where you went wrong so you don't make the same mistake in S2?
But who am I kidding, they don't give a damn about any of that. They block the so-called "negativity" and are convinced their S1 was perfect, that in and of itself should be enough proof that S2 will be as bad if not worse. A baby? Yeah why not, or just a sex scene since Waldron seems to enjoy "mischievous" stuff like sex (I swear the day I heard that I almost fell off the chair, he's such a redditor!).

Lost and Found - a Sylki Story
On a lighter note than recent ones, this one's for @sheherlocked I'M SORRY IT'S GARBAGE THO LOL I WROTE IT IN 2-ish HOURS. Sylvie had long since lost the ability to be surprised. Sleeping with one eye open for as long as she had, constantly needing to look over her shoulder, to be prepared to run at a moment's notice, it was all standard practice for Sylvie.
And then there was Loki…
The fool demigod managed to shake her to the core with something so simple as a tilt of his beautiful face, a shimmer of magic across his body.
She had been following him for weeks, not wanting him to find her. No, that was the lie she told herself. The real reason was the fact that she was terrified to reach for him. Every time she would get close, desperate to touch him, something in her brain would not let her. However, she did not want to lose track of him, so she followed, like a tigress stalking her prey.
She had been steeling her nerves the past few days, finally finding it ridiculous that this had gone on for so long. She was going to go talk to him. She had to. It was the only way to find out why he had spent so long searching for her. She had watched him interrogate, search, interrogate some more in order to find her. He had described her as a “beautiful blonde woman in black and green.” having no more to go on than that, because common people wouldn’t understand much else about their crazy journey they’d been on.
She had felt bad, watching him fall to his knees and weep, far away from the world where no one else could see him, or so he thought. She wanted to reach out and hold him, to tell him he would never be alone again, but why should she? He was supposed to be by her side until the end, to stand with her when her life’s mission was complete. And yet, when the time came, he chose rational thought and logic instead. Why was she even following him? Why, when He Who Remained lay dead at her feet, was he the only face in her mind? Somehow, hearing his cries, watching his shoulders heave as he let his fist collide with a nearby tree trunk, she found it hard to be upset about all the rest.
Eventually, she managed to lose track of him. She had drifted off to sleep unexpectedly, and he was gone when she woke up. What followed was a search that took her days. Days of tracking his footprints and asking around for a beautiful man with black hair in an old, collared shirt that desperately needed tailoring. She eventually found him again, sitting on a rock by a river, someone else next to him.
A woman with long blonde hair and dressed all in blue, sat near him. She looked older, with much wisdom on her face as she ran her hand along Loki’s back.
“My darling, do not lose hope.” The woman muttered. “You will find her. I know this because I’ve never known you to give up when you want something. I was there the night you ate all those freshly baked biscuits. Do you remember?”
His mother. Sylvie had never met Frigga, and she barely remembered her own mother. She crouched behind the nearby foliage, listening to Frigga’s words and looking every inch like the lost child she truly was. She watched Loki lean against the woman, who put her arms around him and held him tight as he began crying again. Sylvie could already tell when Loki was crying without even seeing his face, his stuffy nose a dead giveaway.
“Mother, I’m so tired of being alone.”
“You’re never truly alone. Surely you know that. I am always with you, sweet boy.”
Loki’s cries intensified as a clarifying thought tore through Sylvie’s mind, almost knocking her over. Loki’s mother was long since…. “Loki... what are you doing…?” Sylvie stepped out into the clearing, scaring at least three centuries out of the God of Mischief as he frantically waved the illusion of his mother away, stumbling in the process and falling straight into the river.
Oh. Oh shit.
Sylvie didn’t even realize what she had done. She had no plan for this. She had let her heart get in the way and now she had revealed herself. She had no choice but to move forward now.
“S-...Sylvie?!” Loki exclaimed, his voice cracked from crying and landing in cold water. He hauled himself out of the river, stumbling toward her as she walked up to meet him. “Surely I’ve gone mad. It can’t be.” He reached out a hand as if to touch her arm, but retracted it immediately.
“Hi. Sorry. About that I mean.” She gestured to his soaked clothing. He shook his head, and a green shimmer ran the length of his body, drying him instantly.
“Sylvie. I’ve been… I mean, I thought I’d... You okay?”
“I should be asking you!” She was suddenly irritated by the fact that he continued to put her first. “Your mum is dead, Loki, yet I saw her sitting by you. What’s that about?”
Loki didn’t have words for quite some time. Sylvie watched his face flush, and his eyes water. However, no tears fell this time.
“She was always the one to comfort me when I was upset. No one else has tried since.” Loki spat his words out with more bitterness than he intended. Sylvie did not deserve to bear the resentment he’d carried for centuries.
And it damn well broke her heart…
All of a sudden, she rushed for him, throwing her arms around his waist and squeezing as tight as she could. She couldn’t find words. There were none to be had in this moment. All that mattered was how warm and firm his body was under her arms, and how equally firm his arms were when they came to rest on her shoulders. It took him a moment to wrap them around her, but she felt him melt against her when they did. Somehow, they didn’t need words. In this moment, the chaos of two hearts racing against one another was enough.
Loki sunk to his knees, taking her with him, holding her like she was going to fade away. Like she herself was an illusion he had unknowingly conjured to comfort his aching soul. She felt real though, as she clung to him, so he had to believe she was.
“I’ve been searching for you.” He finally spoke, his voice small and fragile.
“I know. I’ve been following you.” He snapped his head up at that, searching her face and smirking. Of course she was two steps ahead of him. She always had been. “I couldn’t bring myself to say anything. I didn’t know what to say.”
Sylvie slowly removed her glove, running her bare hand along Loki’s face. She took note of the way the breath hitched in his throat, his eyes fluttering shut.
“How long has it been since someone held you like this?” Curiously, she removed her other glove, cupping his face in her hands and drawing her thumbs all over his soft skin. He was beautiful, and there had never been any question about it, but to see him like this, mouth open, eyes shut, it was otherworldly. His head rolled from side to side, unsure of which way to lean in order to maximize the feeling of her skin on his. His breaths had grown more shallow, and he was quietly panting against her as she held him. “Years? Centuries?”
“A bit of bo-” His words died on his tongue as she pressed her lips to his throat, her hands tangling in his hair. “Oh, don’t stop…” His words were almost a moan as she continued. It was just as bad for her. She had had several flings in the past, merely to keep herself going, but she had made it abundantly clear that nothing was ever real. Not until she met Loki…
Sylvie squeaked as she felt herself lifted and flipped over, a large weight suddenly on top of her. Her senses were scrambled by the feeling, the scent of citrus and spice, and a pair of warm lips suddenly devouring her own. Her mind was addled with the feel of him against her, and she lost all ability to perceive the world around her as she kissed him like her life depended on it.
Eventually, someone would stumble upon them, kissing in varied stages of undress. The story of an entangled couple who disappeared in a flash of green light was one that would echo through the town, sending search parties into that very woods for a short period of time until the next place they had been spotted cropped up on the internet. Chaos always suited them better, anyway...
