debunking lies zutara shippers say about the atla creators & writers

disclaimer: this is in no way an endorsement or defense of bryke or anyone mentioned. literally just debunking false statements i see spread throughout and outside the fandom as it pertains to kataang

1. that bryke made kataang endgame because the nice guy should get the girl

this is something I see often usually linked with this video of a man ⬇️ who they claim to be bryan/mike echoing this sentiment.

this man is in fact john o’bryan, one of the three known zk shippers in the writers’ room (we’ll expand on this in point 5) talking about how he saw aang. not the creators. so of course it shouldn’t surprise anyone that he doesn’t even like kataang in the first place.

2. that bryke made kataang endgame last minute and zutara was the original pairing

bryan and mike (notice how i’m using both of their names separately. this too will be important in the next point) have talked about how kataang was planned since they originally wrote the show.

they have also talked ad nauseam in a video (which I will not share here cuz it made a lot of ppl angry) about why they do not like zutara and its shippers, so this entire point is bogus.

++ the reason why they say zk was the original pairing is because of one of the zk writers (joshua hamilton) wrote this in the atla fun facts that used to run on tv. (we’ll get into him later) those atla fun facts contain a lot of inaccurate/non canon “facts” which you can check and verify on avatar wiki if you know what i’m talking about.

3. that aang is bryke’s self insert (specifically mike)

yeah, here’s where the separation becomes important. bryan (L) and mike (R) are two different men. mike has never said that aang was his self-insert, nor has he directly talked about relating to aang. bryan, however, constantly talks about how much he relates to zuko. even, going as far to say he tries to think like zuko when he writes characters and shows.

the only time mike has come close to saying he relates to aang is when dante said he thinks mike is more like aang while bryan is more like zuko, and they, mostly bryan, agreed. (mike has actually said he relates to korra more than aang but hey) bryan also is the one who drew mike’s beard on adult aang because he considered it a nice reference to his friend. this is the main reason why shippers ran with that self-insert narrative because half the time, they think bryke is actually one person ☠️

++ in fact, aang’s original character design is based off the mixed black-chinese son of sifu kisu

4. that atla was supposed to have a season 4 where katara and zuko got together

this is mostly something that has come out of a fabricated interview by the head writer, aaron ehasz. he was allegedly asked what he would have liked to do if given the chance to write a fourth season of the show and talked about an azula redemption arc among other things. zutaras then made up a whole fake interview including that he wanted to make the two characters endgame.

ehasz then came out to say that most of these “interviews” were faked and that he has never talked about having a preference for any ship. if you go on his twitter, you will see him talking about an azula redemption arc tho.

as for atla having a 4th season at all, it was never intended. the creators, the music composers have all said at various points in time, the show was written and pitched as three seasons, three elements.

5. that most of the other writers shipped zutara and bryke’s authoritarianism shut it down

as I said above, only three writers on the original show have come out to say they preferred zk at some point. atla has had a total of 21 staff writers. 3 out of 21 is not most if you ask me.

as for bryke (yes now i’m using the shorthand cuz i proved my point earlier) being authoritarians, no writer or staff that has worked with them on the show has said this so…? idk where that came from but i’m not here to back them up just mention facts.

6. that all the women who worked on the franchise shipped zutara while only men shipped kataang

atla has very few female staff as it is:

5 writers (elizabeth welch: zk; others: unknown)

1 director (unknown)

5 storyboard/character artists (lauren montgomery: ka; elsa garagarza: ka; angela song mueller: zk; others: unknown)

1 comic writer (faith erin hicks: ka)

++ mae whitman (katara’s voice actress) has expressed her like for both ships throughout the years.

so i’m not sure what defines all and only for some ppl but those definitions are not in my dictionary. disclaimer: i’m not declaring anyone here as a shipper in any official sense. this is just based off statements they have made that you can google!

7. that katara is written poorly in post-atla content because of kataang/bryke

I mean the first part isn’t really a lie, more of an opinion which I can agree with to an extent.

why I mention this here is because zks will not only go on a tangent and link the misogyny in the writing to a m/f ship and say the other m/f ship would have been more feminist…

but they also refuse to hold all the men involved accountable. like I said, 3 known atla writers shipped zk and 2 of them (joshua & john) were men (who would’ve thought men could like a ship and it could still be considered feminist 😃). they were also 2 out of only 4 atla writers that came back for legend of korra, outside of the creators. (19 to 4 ☠️ no comment). these shippers very well know this and instead of holding these men accountable for the misogynistic writing, they instead brag about them shipping it and ask them about zk whenever they have the chance.

another example is gene luen yang, a comic writer who again shipped zk (another man GASPPPPP) responsible for the first 5 comic books. everyone knows his comics suck in terms of characterization, particularly katara’s. in fact zutaras have made multiple threads on how poor the writing is. funnily enough, they always fail to mention that gly was the script writer or acknowledge his part in this mischaracterization, while bragging about him shipping zk in other posts. ironic.

meanwhile, bryke have never offered writers’ commentary on any of gly’s comics besides the search - mike (because they were mostly writing legend of korra during his run.)

basically these shippers don’t care about misogyny or holding male writers accountable if they ship zk which is funny because I thought it was… for the female gaze? why are you hyping men shipping it anyway? confusion.

Transferring this post from twitter, with some edits and additions, because the mess that was the development of the sequel trilogy fascinates me on an extremely deep level

Okay so. You’re probably aware that Adam Driver gave an interview a few weeks ago where he said that the original plan for Kylo in the sequel trilogy was to get progressively eviler throughout. Which I’m not here for redemption vs corruption arc discourse, that’s not what this post is (because I prefer a secret third option), and what I want to dig into here is what makes this an incredibly curious statement

Because this is the first time anyone involved with the ST has mentioned there ever being a plan. So, let’s explore that for a second because why is he saying something that’s completely at odds with every other piece of information we have?

(behind a cut for length, as I went and pulled a bunch of interview quotes and other materials and then analyzed them, you can scroll to the very bottom for my conclusions if you like)

So first, I went and found this, which I purchased many many years ago in 2017

In it, an interview with RJ himself confirms what the story has been for a long time: there was no plan, there was no required plot points, no endgame to lead to, just absolute freedom (I recall reading this then and feeling a spark of confusion and concern - what do you mean there was no plan?) 

I also found this, and while I don’t have the TLJ art book to verify it, another person on twitter confirmed it and also advised that RJ was even in the know regarding the Aftermath series (confirmed by him and Chuck Wendig at a convention) - so he knew a lot. And this plus the above shows that if there was a plan, it was abandoned before TFA was even released, likely even before it finished filming

And then we have the rather well known moment when JJ himself pretty much confirmed that the ST should have had a plan (question asked was about sw, even if JJ didn’t say it himself). Could this be shade at abandoning a plan instead of never having one? Maybe. But it’s unclear 

And as our last piece of evidence, we have confirmation from RJ that he asked JJ to change the ending of TFA. Which once again shows TFA was not finished when RJ, who explicitly said he was given no plan to follow, was writing TLJ

And that was the story all along, confirmed multiple times over. We can say for sure that as of the writing for TLJ being started, which was before TFA was even finished, let alone released, there was no plan. So it is certain that if there ever was a plan, that plan was abandoned at the very latest in early 2015, but I suspect 2014 is more likely

So why would AD say there ever was one? He has no reason to lie and I don’t think he is, he has nothing to gain and everything to lose by doing so. But with so many other pieces of evidence directly contradicting what he’s saying, I think we can also say that RJ is telling the truth too. But how can both be true?

Well, knowing the mess that is d/lf and also how disney treats actors I think it’s one of two possibilities:

Option 1: there was indeed a plan, likely pitched by JJ himself, and that d/lf agreed to that plan with no intention of ever following it through. They sold the actors on the plan, telling them it was a capital P Plan, but then didn’t ever tell them it had stopped being the plan, so that’s also why we saw the actors becoming increasingly frustrated throughout the series. They were told there was a plan, what the plan was, and then watched none of that come to fruition because it had secretly been abandoned long ago without their knowledge. It’s extremely scummy, but I could see disney doing it

Option 2: the plan was never a firm capital P Plan but rather was just the initial concept JJ had. No one ever committed to it, but since the actors couldn’t see the script, JJ’s initial vision was used as a “here’s my concept” kind of thing to sell the actors on without it being a firm plan. Just a concept that was used at the time but later discarded, as I’m sure a good number of concepts were. But it would be easy for that to get misinterpreted by the actors, and this gives us the less scummy option on the mouse’s part because it’s more about miscommunication than anything else

And if it is option 2, it’s also possible that the actors did know it wasn’t an confirmed plan, just a concept, but clung to those concepts since they were all they had. Which I can understand, given that not knowing the eventual story makes their jobs harder. I can totally see AD sticking with that initial concept even if he knew it wasn’t a “plan” per se, because he had literally nothing else to go on and he needed something to play the role. And once again, given how increasingly frustrated the cast got over the course of the trilogy, I suspect this experience would have been shared among the whole cast

Overall, I lean towards option 2 on this, because even though I do think disney is pretty fucking evil, option 1 might actually be a contract violation or at least open up the possibility of one. And plus, the entire story group would have had to be in on it, and if they did straight up knowingly lie to the entire cast and JJ, I just feel like that would be something which that many people can’t keep secret (plus wouldn’t RJ have accidentally spilled the beans when talking to JJ? Or was he in on it too? Too many players imo). I know it’s disney, but still, things leak all the time (as those of us who followed the tfa or tros leaks know lmao). Plus, I do agree with the adage of assuming stupidity over overt malice when in doubt, so I’m going to stick with that here

So ultimately, my suspicion is this was never a true, capital P, confirmed Plan, but rather the initial concept they used in place of a real plan (which they never made) because d/lf had nothing else to use to sell the actors on it and the actors had nothing else to cling to when actually playing the characters, so they used it where they needed gaps filled. And with it being more likely just a vague concept that was never committed to and was abandoned in 2014 than anything else, well, no matter how good or bad it might have been, I don’t even think it’s worth considering as something we ever would have gotten. It clearly wasn’t in the stars (ha) from very early on and thus belongs in the pile with the rest of the surely very numerous concepts that never came to fruition

And this, kids, is why trilogies need to be fucking planned lmfao

Build Jakapan Case Update + My Thoughts

It’s the middle of the night for me but I thought you all should know that it was announced that Poi and Build have settled in court. Both have published letters that agree and admit that Poi lied about everything and Build is innocent.

This likely isn’t the end as her admitting her falsehoods will have to be a condition of the settlement and there will likely still be a hearing to nail down the damages she has to pay. But her settling like this confirms what I suspected for a long time: she has no evidence. Everything she’s ever accused him of came from her own mind. I suspected that from the start when she came out so strong and said she was going to sue him, and then just… did not.

I have some concerns. I will admit I haven’t been neutral in quite a while because Poi gave me no reason to trust her and every reason not to with her inconsistencies and Pinterest-picture evidence. I like to believe victims but i also firmly follow “trust, but verify” as a mantra. And I couldn’t verify anything she said. I could, however, see the inconsistencies and the coincidental timings and the conveniently cropped screenshots she shared as “proof” of him being so awful.

I digress.

I am concerned that since a mere couple of days ago she was slandering him live on TikTok that she won’t stop now, even with the settlement. I’m equally concerned that a settlement won’t be enough to clear Build’s name in the eyes of his neutral fans. I had hoped he’d take the case all the way so that the evidence would come out. But then again, this is a deeply private matter so I don’t blame him for wanting to keep his evidence private.

I have absolutely no hope that this will change the minds of people who are determined to hate him. But I do have hope that people who went neutral will see this and appropriately change their minds about him and this matter.

I am a bit concerned about what a case like this means for “believe the victim!” Since Poi obviously exploited that exact mentality as she defamed him, knowing it would ruin him to even be accused of something like this regardless of if he did it. I don’t think it’s a bad thing for more people to take the “trust but verify” approach… however I’m concerned that cases like this will be pointed to when discrediting real victims and dismissing their cases as simple misunderstandings. Because at the core of it, it seems like this was a messy break up that went really, really wrong.

I have no real closing thoughts here other than:

1. This isn’t quite over though I don’t know if we’ll get exact settlement details in the future.

2. I’ll be watching carefully to see if she actually stops with her erratic, defaming behavior or not. I’m not entirely sure she’s capable of stopping, so I’m concerned he may end up having to sue again if she breaks the settlement.

3. I think people need to be a bit more critical about believing people blindly BUT should still default to believing the victim in most cases to avoid using bad examples like this to discredit real victims.

4. This will do nothing to change people who are determined to hate Build’s mentality and I don’t expect it to. It was never about abuse for them, only blind hatred.

5. It’ll be interesting to see how Build’s life and career progress after all of this, especially juxtaposed against all the other Thai BL actors who are having problematic behavior come to light lately…

the nicholas braun stuff happened to coincide with a very difficult week in court that i’m not at liberty to discuss the specifics of publicly. needless to say, i currently have no patience for gossip, hearsay and rumour being presented as fact.

year-old comments from the subreddit for the gossip account/company/one woman and her inbox that is deuxmoi, that regularly insists verifiably false things are true (and indeed single-handedly created nick’s online reputation as ‘NYC’s boyfriend’ to 2 million followers) do not constitute credible sources. overstating the harmful content of what is clearly being presented (second hand accounts of consensual sex between adults being labelled sexual assault, for instance) is irresponsible and juvenile. the article that has been published does not feature a single first hand account, and seems to be functioning as something of a honeytrap for people who hooked up with nick, rather than a safe space for anyone. the author posted it to her twitter with an accompanying tweet suggesting that the article contains ‘many and serious underage rape allegations’, which it simply doesn’t. it’s sensationalist clickbait that completely undermines the credibility of the poster of the original tiktok, which has been deleted, and has little to no journalistic value. it is extremely weak, sub-tabloid levels of conjecture. no mainstream media outlet would publish this.

this isn’t to say i believe nick doesn’t have the capacity to do misogynistic, immature, deeply unpleasant things. i’ve always thought that the new york post article from october 2021 would be a great hit piece if the worm turned, and inevitably it has become one, because having alleged one night stands with the women who go to your lame af bar every weekend just for the opportunity of sleeping with you is extremely stupid behaviour and always has been. his M.O seems to be the cavalier attitude to women of a single straight guy in his 30s, compounded by being an ex-disney kid with apparently poor social boundaries, who treats his bar like an extension of a hookup app, and is probably constantly surrounded by awful mates doing the same. i see it every day in my generational cohort. it sucks.

i apologise if this upsets people. things might come to light that change my mind! i’m very open to that possibility. he may well be at the finding out stage of having fucked around. i simply don’t think much of the discourse this week has substance beyond the tiktok, and that’s actually truly unfortunate. if you publicly accuse an individual of a crime, you had better be fucking sure they did it. if you kick off a campaign to get potential victims of abuse, rape or assault to come forward, you don’t give equal credence to completely unverified, anonymous hearsay as you do first-hand accounts. be serious.

Imma say my thoughts/opinions on the situation and then imma bounce off of tumblr for a hot minute.

First thing I would like to say is that I am staying NEUTRAL. GRAY.SWITZERLAND. IN.THE.MIDDLE. and my thoughts will explain WHY I am remaing neutral. I am not someone who is faking just so I can secretly defend Percy.THAT IS NOT THE CASE!!!

#1. The slur

It's pretty obvious that he said it's clear as a blue sky. I frankly don't know the c-word or know what it means but I have learned that is somthing revolving around Canada and how it's very normalized to say which is sad.

#2. The r- /sa allegations

I am going to try my best to be sensitive as possible with my words with this part.This is where I am very lost. 1. I saw someone say (dont remember who) that dates don't matter when they come to victims coming out with sa or r- but they do. Especially if its a celebrity. This isn't just regular twitter drama this is something very serious that has a lot of 'evidence' (I will explain why I put that in air quotes) And at this rate authorites have(or will) already gotten involved and if this goes into to court they will ask for dates this occurred and if they can't be properly backed up that lead to something else like defamation. No amount of times I re-read all the tweets with all the pictures and text messages will make me feel any less lost. Yes everything is there and it makes Percy look like a very bad person but at the same time....it's all so blended together?? Idk how to explain it. Some of the text messages that i have seen is to fumbled and mushed together like I'm lost with all the ages this happened and apparently Canada has the 5 year law relating to minors???

#3. The nudes

Some of them honestly look like he took them when he himself was a minor which kinda sucks for everybody else who had been spreading his nudes (actual nudes) everywhere on Twitter. Still doesn't make it ok for him to send them to minors ( allegedly)it ALSO doesnt make it ok to release his all over the internet. Because that looks bad for the people spreading them becuase 1. Someone from Percy's team is watching. Do yall not think they are ignoring this? With so much out already I highly doubt they are. They will find people spreading his nudes around just because no words have been spoken to us doesn't mean nothing is happening. And if I wanna butt in this part the ones with him on the toilet and bed honestly look like some teenage boy doing something stupid. However we don't know the context behind those nudes just one where he took a shit at his new apartment (which that one really looks like he was being really stupid but who uses the bathroom naked?????)

#4. Him staying silent is guilt.

This is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. He isn't saying anything until he has a lawyer and his team can make up a proper statement. That situation is out of his hands now he no longer has control over his social media.

#5. The 'Evidence'

I will explain why i put evidence in quotations. Half of the evidence is coming from anonymous,and faceless accounts which will be useless in court becuase they cannot verify if they already have them printed out they cannot know who wrote those allegations. If they find the person who wrote those allegations this is a chance they dont want to testify and if those people are real or not. Being a faceless account in a situation like this is kind of iffy but I can get why you don't want people to know you said that stuff. The evidence keeps changing every hour and one minute is this but then actually it's this or wait it's that.

I am trying to think from the pov of the victims and I would honestly be terrified of thousands of people coming at me asking all types of questions but everything is all over the place. The right thing for the victims to do is to step away from social media, sit down and organize everything and make sure everything they have can fall back on something. What is on Twitter is just..... evidence thrown up together.

#6.the vicims

I have been looking on Twitter and learned the victims are acting....odd? Not all of them. One of them made a tiktok about how they canceled a Netflix star in 9 days into 2023 and another one commented "yeah we did that". Idk about yall but that's weird. Sounds like their flexing??? You don't flex about a rapist. Especially with what they did to you.

Next, one of them threaten another person saying she will find where she live and for her saftey she better leave her alone. But then she tweets how she was going to (legally) do it but they messages she sent to the girl was coming off very threatening. She wasn't threatening to kill idk why people are thinking that but she was threatening the girl and she was obviously going to do something. She claims the person was spaming her but the person supposedly spaming her said she was just saying Percy was innocent. Idk if she said that in one text or multiple. I get how she was angry I really do but the way she pharsed it only made herself look more bad.

Third, the same girl(victim) from the pervious paragraph has tweeted in the past about Wednesday and has talked about it not about Percy,but about Wednesday and her mothers relationship. What confuses me is that he has (allegedly) r-/sa this girl but she proceeds to watch the show he has a decent amount of scenes in? Then, according to one of the tweets,20h before the allegations rose she was tweeting about how she gets told she looks like a lot like Wednesday. Idk could be a coincidence, could not be. WE DO NOT KNOW.

#7. Time

It has not been a fully 47 hours since this stuff came out. People are automatically expecting a response from Percy is beyond delusional. I think we all woke up to this so and had a chaotic morning (ik I did) he can not defend himself yet because of his legal team possibly taking over his socials. It will be awhile until we hear something which is why the good half of people are waiting for his side to come out before deciding futher of their place on the situation. I know everybody is waiting impatiently but it's gonna be a while.

#8. Throwing the r word around.

I don't like how everyone is throwing that word around. Calling people who try to remain neutral apologist r- and saying that to basically anyone who wants to think logically. First off nothing has been proved he done anything. Don't be fooled I am equally as disgusted as you are but this is all coming from Twitter. Yes the victims had no where else to go because they went to the police and they did nothing but this is all coming from twitter. No spare videos of anything but him saying the slur,just screenshots and words. We don't even know if the evidence can be used in court guys.

I'm trying to be logical about the whole thing,and I am pointing out stuff that has stook out to me. After this I am keeping my mouth shut and watching from the sidelines.

There is so much more I want to say but it's almost 1am where I am at and I'm tired. If the allegations are true my heart goes out to the victims. If it's not,then even more hell is gonna break loose. Until we can see Percy's side there is nothing else we can do but wait. I am just so sad about this whole thing and wish that everything isn't true but it's really not looking good for him. Only time will tell with this. I hope my way of saying things did not offend any of you and if they did I am truly sorry. I'm taking a risk and leaving my messages opened but please tell me your opinions kindly. I have told mine with minimal to no violence I would like to have the same option when expressing yalls with me.

The last thing I will say is that Twitter is a mess. Idk what to believe anymore. Stuff keeps changing and it gets more confusing. This all just needs to be settled outside of Twitter. I'm sad the victims had to resort to this route but everything is a mess and it's too confusing and I won't believe or side with anyone until an official statement is out. Not something from Twitter.

Oh boy.

I intentionally avoided posting any thing about the allegations against Tenoch yesterday because I require time to process information. I needed time to give my brain a rest. This still feels a bit too soon. I will never be one to say Tenoch or anyone else would, "never do something like that." Because I have no idea. I'm hoping that the allegations aren't true. This post is my way of venting. It is in no way meant to persuade anyone else on what they should think or feel about this situation. And certainly not meant to be proof or evidence of why it happened or didn't happen. I don't know. None of us knows.

1. The framing of the dissemination of this information as "news." My biggest issue is that I've seen a lot of Twitter accounts pick up the same link that appears to be the outlet that first brought the Tweet by Maria Elena Rios to light (reforma.com). I don't know what journalistic standards this outlet follows, so I won't speculate. I did check to see if any well-established US outlets had Tweeted anything (Associated Press, Reuters, CNN, MSNBC), and as of roughly 30 min. ago they had not.

So far, all we really have are glorified Retweets, not a news story. There are A LOT of accounts with well designed pages that have all the hallmarks of looking like "official" news organizations, but they are not. It takes virtually no time or effort to Retweet something and start an avalanche. It's a trend that has bothered me for the last decade or so. Journalism requires independently verifying information you have received. It's going to multiple sources to corroborate the information. It's at the very least attempting to reach out to the involved parties to get their statements. It's reviewing public records and court filings to see what has been officially documented. And not to say that WON'T happen at some point, but it sure as hell isn't going to happen within 24 hours. It will take time and we STILL may never know the full story.

2. We should believe victims. ABSOLUTELY! In this particular instance and from this vantage point, Maria is only his accuser. It has not yet been established that she is his victim. I understand that she is a victim involving another individual, and thank goodness she survived that horific attack. However, as it pertains to Tenoch, I don't think interjecting alleged sexual assault in a Tweet focused on a different issue is enough to automatically leap to saying she was absolutely, 100%, without a doubt victimized by Tenoch. If it happened I would hope Maria would take legal action, given she was comfortable enough to make the accusation publicly under her name. Even then, she is not required to do so (which is why I say we may never know what did or didn't happen). I would imagine navigating the justice system in Mexico is no less stressful as navigating the justice system in the US. There are valid reasons for women not subjecting themselves to (potentially) years of legal struggles. But I also hope she wouldn't be so reckless as to throw out an allegation and not allow Tenoch to formally defend himself, assuming he denies these allegations. Once again, something that requires TIME.

3. To all those I have interacted with over the past few months on this site, know that I luv ya! I value our time together here. Regardless of what you've said or haven't said about this situation, that hasn't changed. I'm choosing to reserve judgement because that's how I am and how I will always be. I respect that everyone is not like me (thank God). Like many others, I will suspend posting here because, if for no other reason, I know how to read a fucking room. what kind of fandom stuff do you think maya and miles are into for steel samurai? like do they write fic or meta, or cosplay?

i think the both of them write fic but maya's mostly writing trashy smut for her underloved f/f rarepair and miles is one of the more prolific magisteel writers who occasionally dips into other more underloved canons like signal & rainbow samurai. he's ostensibly a BNF like exactly the cliche you see in bigger fandoms, purple prose like you wouldn't believe, writes 300 words when ten will suffice. he does it entirely as a hobby and is completely unbothered by his success in fandom. maya vaguely knows of him but has no fucking clue it's miles.

miles also goes to cons and events but he does it in civvies and usually masked & sunglasses because he doesn't want to be recognized and bothered. since he's right there in LA where they shoot and has the weirdest fucking inside source imaginable (tried to prosecute one of the lead actors for murder???) i imagine he's at pretty much every event because i legit think him and will stayed tight after all that (phoenix definitely put a bug in will's ear once he realized miles was Actually A Fan) but even if he wasn't rubbing elbows w the cast you know my man would be spending real government dollars on every single con and expo global studios held. think his house is decorated in merch that clashes horribly with the rest of his decor.

if miles is writing meta it is likely on oldschool internet fan forums. the only social media he has is a professional verified twitter that he posts nothing but law shit on every few months. maya is def getting into petty arguments on there but only when shes in the city and on the rare occasion her cell service works in kurain, she has to go like a mile up the fucking mountain to get a single bar.

my personal take on maya is that she considers herself the arbiter of pink princess lore. people say shit like "maya kins the pink princess" like it isn't the other fucking way around--the pink princess kins maya. my girlfriend has a really good casefic everyone should read or i'm going to fucking be under your bed that proposes (indirectly) that sal had a similar creative awakening when he saw franziska in the airport in aai1-2, and thus the cobalt crusader was born. this is my gf's stsam oc who i went a little too apeshit about, and now i ship her with the pink princess, AS DOES MAYA.

maya is convinced, conspiratorially, that pink and steel are bearding each other and pink is secretly a lesbian who's meant to be endgame with the cobalt crusader. miles and her have gotten into screaming matches about this (miles likes magisteel from a purely fantastical standpoint, he does not think it'll ever come to be) usually ended with both of them killing phoenix, who is on the fringes, there to snarkily ask them if they know what a bisexual is. he does this every time and it ends the argument every time because they stop yelling at each other and instead yell at him.

maya's the only person in the world writing for pinkbalt and i cannot stress enough she only writes steamy erotica but her fics do decent numbers amongst the wlw half of the fandom and have a small but passionate following.

i think eventually miles starts taking maya to cons. and she def cosplays. with pearl.

And I don't really know what that means, but then he tweeted, "'Grumpy x Sunshine ship confirmed?' with those screenshots. And then Wanda replied, 'Sam running their ship account confirmed?'"

"It's not my fault that he forgot to switch accounts," Wanda snickers.

"And then Steve replied, 'Sam explained what ship means- I ship it.'"

"Steve?" Tony prompts.

"What? I'm trying to appeal to a younger demographic," Steve scoffs, then mumbles, "And I do ship it... Besides, Nat's the one that replied to all of them, accusing me of helping Sam run that account- which I do not."

"Okay, all that's great," Tony interjects, rolling his eyes. "But that doesn't seem like something that would trend worldwide for 24 hours!"

"Just wait, it gets better!" Sam laughs.

"Of course it does," Tony sighs.

"In my defense...I didn't think you could zoom in on Instagram and- Peter and Steve approved it!" you exclaim, throwing Peter and Steve under the bus.

"You can zoom in?!" Steve asks, looking around the room to see scattered nods. "Ohhh...now this all makes sense. I wouldn't have approved it if I knew that."

"What was wrong with the second picture?" Tony grumbles, now rubbing his temples.

"You know, what you're all about to be banned from social media," Tony threatens.

"Who even calls it social media?" Sam teases. "You sound like an old man."

"An old man that has been watching people lose their minds over 2 pictures! And let's not even start on the fact that you're running an account of a relationship that you have nothing to do with."

"I beg to differ- I'm the reason they're together. And I don't run that account," Sam replies, crossing his arms defensively.

"You're telling me, that if I go and check the IP address that the account is run from, it won't be from your phone?" Tony accusingly asks.

A few new developments…Shitshow 1 might be in some legit deep shit if she released those photos.

I have posted previously that the accusers may not ever see a suit from him because they literally aren’t worth it.

For the CSAM, I was really hands off because I hadn’t seen the photos, I didn’t see the original tweet spreading them, and didn’t have any of the facts. Perhaps it was my naivety, but I had assumed two things. 1) these images had been made as a “gift” to a girlfriend of his. 13 is really young IMO, but I was like, ok that’s the world we live in these days, and I didn’t actually know how old he was in the photos. 2) I thought the first instance of the pics being shared online or the police made aware was recently.

In general, I thought how it went was PHW gave these pics to a GF. The GF maybe shared with someone as a “OMG, look what PHW gave me, should I send him mine?” So, someone in that friend group more or less kept the pics because…??? Pics go from friend to friend bc kids are dumb and have no real sense of consequences yet, then they somehow made their way to Shitshow 1. My assumption was that an actual friend had leaked those pics, hopefully without malice, and Shitshow for her own reasons didn’t want to bust them out. So, she made up the “chatroom” excuse.

I am of the belief the reddit post was her, and so maybe she had also secretly posted on the other website hoping someone would recognize him and point it out for her.

I was of the opinion that PHW wouldn’t waste his time because he’d have to press charges and then go through the whole ordeal of verifying/giving testimony of when those pics were taken and who he shared them with. If he pressed charges, then it’s his and the Crown’s burden to prove that the pics are indeed CSAM.

The pics were already taken down off the one website and I thought more or less scrubbed from Twitter piecemeal as soon as the images were reported. I didn’t think he would get restitution, again the accusers are broke. He makes more acting and networking, so perhaps he hoped he could just wash his hands of this once the circus ran its course.

Even if police want to press charges, it’s hard to get a conviction if the victim in question won’t cooperate.

Now we have new facts.

I’ve seen posts where his mother (whom I would call a reliable fact witness) says neither was the case. The reality was that he was victimized, and the police had been involved several years ago.

Why would this matter? It matters because the police already have on record PHW’s age and victimization. These photos are probably in a CSAM database and have been since he was 13 (late 2014ish). PHW isn’t needed to establish anything and may not even need to attend court at all. The court will already know these images are for sure CSAM.

There are also special task forces continuously tracking down known CSAM, so the police might have been on Shitshow’s trail from the get go. As soon as they’re alerted that a known CSAM has surfaced, they get a warrant to monitor your shit to track it down and see if you have more. See generally Josh Duggar case.

Because of the nature of CSAM and how nothing can truly go away on the internet, the courts aren’t going to make the victims show up every time they bust someone with the shared material. Unfortunately, some CSAM is very well known and “popular.” They have the facts and can proceed without the victims.  

If he doesn’t have one already, then at most PHW would give a Victim Impact Statement via letter and the judge will read it out loud and take it into consideration when sentencing. Given the absolute shitshow Accuser 1 made of the whole ordeal and how bad she looks, I have high doubts the judge will be lenient to her.

We also have to question how Shitshow got her hands on these if he had only given them to someone who had catfished him.

I think we can agree the whole “chatroom” excuse is bullshit.

I think some really shady shit has gone down, like maybe someone gossiped about his victimization and then someone might have gone to the dark web to find them kind of shady shit.

We’re talking about photos that are ~8 years old with limited people who would have had them or even known about them.

Shitshow 1 made up the origin of those pics for a reason.

Chica Shitshow…you have some explaining to do.

Komanche's Smajor moment:

It's day 3 and everyone is lining up for the egg game except they don't know it's the egg game yet. Komanche is very vocal about who should go where telling people which lines to get into. Now two separate things happen. First the TPing starts to happen this is to make sure the lines have an even amount of people in them. Originally Komanche was in the red line. While Komanche is in the red line a person named Darick I believe gets removed from the blue line because it's to full, however right after Komanche gets TP'd to the blue line. This is bizarre not only bc if blue team wasn't full allowing Komanche to be TP'd there then they wouldn't have had to remove Darick from that line. Also they are supposed to be TP'ing the last people in line only and Darick and Komanche were both some of the first people in their lines so they shouldn't have been TP'd anyway.

Second thing that happens is once they advanced through the doors and are waiting to get into the egg game Komanche says 'the admins trolled me, they told me this was the cookie game' hense why he went in the red line first bc he thought he would get a square cookie. Now first this reveals that he does know the games ahead of time but second most people think he was covering his ass and actually did know it was egg game the whole time. Here is why. First the TPing, people think that he was purposely tp'd to the blue team and that's why darick had to be removed. darick was crushed bc his team ended up losing and he kept saying 'i didn't even pick this team'. the blue team had some of the biggest players including quackity rubius spreen but what is even more interesting and the second reason people think Komanche knew it was going to be the egg game is when each colour got split into two teams Komanche was watching closely on who was going to which side and instead of choosing the team with all the people he knew he choose the side with people he didn't know that well but were known fall guys sweats. people think komanche knew it was going to be the egg game and purposely choose the fall guys players for his team as they would have more experience with that game. Komanche since has come out and said he does know all the games but feels it doesn't matter because everyone gets explained the games before they start and he is kind of like the old man in squidgames giving hints. He also said today that he didn't have control over where he got TP'd but do we trust someone verifying claims on themselves lol idk. Also rubius and auron both said they chose not to know the games to be surprised so Komanche had the choice as well and choose to know the games.

The egg glitch:

you probably all know about the egg glitch by now. during the egg game points were not registering properly for all teams but one of the blue teams got the worst of it bc they only lost by two points. as you know twitch decided to let those 14 disqualified players compete and 4 winners got let back in the game. some players feel none of them should have been left disqualified while most of the 14 think they should have all been allowed back into the game. the real drama comes when spreen exposes that other players are being toxic towards him and the revived players in the discord chat. he was upset because every day Komanche says people will be disqualified for being toxic yet nobody has been disqualified for it yet.

This won't change anyone's mind especially those who are vehemently against this ship and against Aemond (and for good reasons!) but there were actually some leaks pointing to Helaemond and/or to feelings from Aemond's part, at least. If you go to their blogs or Twitter accounts you will see that maaany, many shippers actually seem to base the chance of their ship becoming canon in some shape or form in S2 in those leaks. Last summer before the show was airing there was a leaker who went by the name of "HOTDLeaks" on Reddit. They posted a summary for every single episode which all turned to be 90%+ true and because of it HBO got Reddit to remove them for copyright reasons. The leaker obviously had real sources, I don't think anyone denies it at this point. But besides posting the summaries, they also answered various questions from other users and some of them were related to Aemond and how he would be portrayed as a character in the show. Nobody asked anything about the ship since it was NOT a thing at all before the show yet the answers were (the leaker said this is how his character was described in the casting call sheets for the audition): 1) "He loves his sister Helaena before her marriage, is jealous of Aegon."

2) "A lover of history/learning & a skilled fighter. His potential for greatness is obvious. He’s in love with his sister Heleana and dislikes Aegon. He’s bullied by Aegon & the Strong boys as a child. He becomes increasingly bitter with age."

This two posts were also removed by HBO for copyright reasons and it is interesting because there were other things the user posted and HBO did not bother to remove.

There is also this comment (notice the second part on inconsistent feedback from their sources): 3) "Aemond states that he would have married Heleana if he had been the brother chosen for her. I’ve gotten inconsistent feedback on wether or not this is out of love or duty." So now one can say "Aha! See, it's just that he's the dutiful son compared to Aegon! Even the leaker said so after all." Yes, it could very well be just the duty thing. Or it could be not. This post however was not removed like the others above which implied or said more than just duty although it doesn't necessarily mean anything.

4) Also something about the writers discussing whether or not to adapt the Aemon/Naerys/Aegon dynamic to Aemond/Helaena/Aegon. Their account (hotdleaks) was suspended by Reddit but to verify the posts were indeed genuine and not faked by shippers you can use apps such as Unddit (unfortunately it's a bit laggy, at least for me) which shows a poster's entire history including deleted/removed posts and enter the "hotleaks" username there. Obviously one could say it's just that young!Aemond had just a teen crush on her and nothing more and that if there was actually anything behind the ship they would've had a proper scene together as adults (a very good point actually!) but one could also answer that we've only known them as adults for two episodes (three in Aemond's case) so there's still some room for something to happen in early S2 before B&C happens. And to be clear, by something happening I do not mean something ridiculous like the children theory being true, I only mean just a confirmation of feelings being romantic.

To conclude, sure, it's not definitive confirmation by any means but, in my opinion, in can be said the whole thing does point to the writers at least playing with the idea while also leaving things ambiguous enough in case they decide to make the ship canon next season…or not. They've not painted themselves into a corner where making it canon is the only option going forward but they haven't done the opposite either.

However like I said in the beginning those who either hate Aemond a lot or the ship will never admit there is indeed some 1% chance of it becoming a canon or at least be open to the possibility. I don't blame them of course, but I just think given how much they've already changed from the book, one should be opened to anything happening in the show despite not happening at all in the source material. They're not going to suddenly stick to Aemond's proper book characterization like some are hoping, just because Daeron who's supposed to be the dutiful son (where is this in F&B though?) is going to be in S2 and because we and others have been complaining about it, despite us being in the right. As you said and others have said, he's popular and there's way too many people who sympathize with him and writers will feel validated by these kind of reactions to him. They will keep witewashing him, undoubtedly.

Sorry for this ask getting so long, hopefully everything I wrote makes sense!

It was a useful ask, and I'm keeping this one fresh. It's finally a comprehensive look at Heloaemond apart from "because". This might explain much of why a fan would see Helaemond happening in the show in any state (but mostly romantic w/o sensuality). Me, I think that the underlying reason why the writers would choose to do it is to make Aemond more sympathetic.

Sports teams in general are pretty much always going to be separated by species, because like you said, it’s not exactly fair if you end up going against a player twice your size lmao. There are some sports like cheer where you can have mixed species groups, but for physically competitive sports they’re gonna be separated. In James’s case his team is made entirely of other mini giants, but their school is big enough to have a human team as well. Having two teams is a pretty common solution, especially for larger college/high schools and professional teams, but there are occasions where a school will have only one team if the ratio of humans giants is pretty uneven. Teams will only play against other teams made up of the same species, which sometimes means one school can have two main rivals so that’s kinda fun. 

And yeah it is pretty common for a mini giant to have a human friend they eat regularly! See, mini giants naturally crave humans because ages ago, they would have actually been a natural part of their diet. Now of course that’s, that’s super illegal, so eating a close friend or partner safely helps calm that instinct down. Plus it’s also a common gesture of affection. Most all mini giants do it, but it’s *really* popular and common among students like Ben and James cause I mean, idiot teens are gonna be idiot teens no matter what species they are lmao. James’s football buddies are especially bad about it lol and like to have competitions to see who can eat the most people at once. Despite how embarrassing he personally finds such games, James is actually the long time holder of second place in this competition! It comes from Ben stuffing him with his own friends for movie and social media purposes lol

Ratio wise I think humans make up like, a little less than 2/3s of the general population? Mini giants aren’t quite as common as humans, but I think the population is about close to even. The area where Ben and James live is pretty well split down the middle, with maybe a few more humans on average than giants. James is actually from a more isolated area where there were very few humans at all, and only moved to where he lives now a few years ago. It was jarring for sure and he’s still getting used to the fact there are so many people half his size just, around. Not to mention he finds it amazing that he can just eat someone in public so casually and no one else will bat an eye. 

3. This one is just silly but I’m SO curious… just how many followers does Ben have on his social media?? Is he like, an influencer? Are we talking, like, small community following or verified Twitter user popular? Does Ben make James do dumb tiktok trends with him? Have any videos of James’ insides gone VIRAL??? I have to know what these posts of his entail.

I am imagining a “JAMES HELP I HAVE 30 SECONDS LEFT FOR MY BEREAL PLEASE EAT ME” situation isn’t all too uncommon xD

No no you don’t understand this is actually the BEST thing I have EVER been asked oh my gosh. So the thing about Ben is he’s incredibly popular not because he’s trying to be, but because he’s just genuinely clever and funny. I’m not entirely sure how many followers he’s got, but it’s definitely a lot.  My man is a tiktok KING and his content can nine times out of ten be found in one of those ‘tiktoks that have vine energy’ compilations. He does skits, vine recreations, pranks, and loads of other nonsense. Poor James almost always ends up getting roped into any number of dumb trends and he actually enjoys being silly with Ben, even if he pretends to be embarrassed. And yes, a few videos featuring James’s insides have gone absolutely viral and poor James is mortified by it haha. It’s not like you can tell it’s his insides really...but everyone just knows. And I’ll have you know I’m absolutely WHEEZING at the thought of Ben begging James to eat him for his BeReal like no Ben that’s not the point of the app you can’t just-oh too late he’s got his head shoved in James’s mouth now. 

As of right now I’m working hard on writing them a nice fleshed out backstory, but I can tell you they have a pretty chaotic sort of meeting because of course. Gosh though hearing how much you like them really means so much to me! I always worry when I post oc content that no one will interact with it or that my characters aren’t as good as other people’s, so every ask and reblog and comment I get about and on stuff involving Ben and James means the actual world to me. Please please please keep sending in questions if you’ve got them!!

Was the situation similar promo wise? If not how much better it is?

Bc I've seen atleast 2 dozen articles from billboard to rolling stone and tweets from verified radio accs So like... Wasn't it like this during walls? Or even half of it? I need a perspective yk?

Everyone's talking about Louis' album, it's making me emotional

Walls promo technically started with Two of Us promo.

Two of Us was very exciting. There were teases of audio clips, and a great fanfare and announcement. Louis had a live performance of the song with fans in the audience. There were three music videos released. I think the media response was not as widespread as now, but it seemed to be positive as well.

As we know now, because of Fizzy’s death, everything was cancelled. Louis did a live performance for Hits Live Birmingham in May 2019 that was probably already scheduled, and the original release date of Walls was probably for May 2019. This timeline meant that he would have already finished his first tour by spring 2020.

The Walls promo schedule was then shifted into fall 2019 for a January 2020 release. The media response fell off a wall. Louis never did anymore Capital FM interviews. He did a 1 hour interview on BBC Radio with Jack Saunders, and performed for their fund raising charity, but there was almost zero radio play on BBC of any of the five singles released for Walls.

In the USA, despite Louis’ going on Jojo Wright and Elvis Duran, iHeart radio almost uniformly ignored his music. Louis did get some play when he did Jingle Bell Ball in LA and NY, but it was minimal. Sirius XM was the only radio chain that played his music, and to their credit, they did it consistently.

Meanwhile, there was very little written press. What there was was perfunctory (“Louis released a single.”). In the weeks leading up to the release of the album itself, both Louis and LTHQ did almost no promo. There was no press, no interviews. The Walls tracklist reveal, while exciting, happened in a vacuum. After the album’s release and the week of record store signings, promo for the album stopped completely. Radio play and playlisting were nonexistent everywhere.

My gut feeling is that the label had no intention for the album to succeed, so they put structural roadblocks in place to make sure it wouldn’t. Sony gave the superficial appearance of supporting the album (allowing interviews and finding people to work on the music videos, planning segments for YouTube and Twitter), but they did not upload Walls music to AllAccess, a USA database from which radio stations can legally access released music to play. Therefore it was difficult for each station to get access unless they contacted the label directly. Sony heavily discouraged two of the three big radio conglomerates in the UK (Capital FM, BBC) from playlisting Walls music. Only stations from the Bauer Media group (Hits Live) played Louis. This pattern was so obvious after smaller artists were consistently played, and when Niall, Zayn, and Harry all had singles on the playlists (Harry had multiple songs on the BBC playlists at once, Lights Up and Adore You).

This is only the beginning for Faith in the Future. It’s too early to draw any conclusions, but I’m feeling optimistic.

Welcome back sickos (quikos?). Since I already covered the time constraints, team management and compensation aspect of the Flowergothic saga, we are moving on to what is unmistakably the core of the nontroversy.

As I wrote previously, there's no denying there was an at least platonic aspect to this whole thing from Julia's part, the two drunken love confessions appear in the last 5 or so pages if you want to see them in context. The stalking happened in Twitter and no party has come forward to either prove or disprove it.

Let's get some facts straight. Julia ended her video about working for Quinton saying that the partnership ended for very personal reasons she wasn't comfortable disclosing. It isn't a reach to assume those reasons are why Quinton decides to start his response the way he did and by the end of it he spins the whole narrative around to being unable to trust collaborators in fear they may want to get too personal. Yeah, let's say I could write a frigging essay about my problems with his response.

So Julia complains she was told she was a friend but was never treated as such and in the context of the chat logs I can see what actually happened.

Quinton pretty much friend zoned a woman he wasn't even friends with. He calls her a friend in order to defuse her advances without having to say no directly and let's just say when he opens his bulleted list to reject her with "I saw it coming" I was like no shit.

If you were to open the PDF file and just speedrun it without skipping pages you would see a good deal of pages are Julia selfies fishing for compliments.

If you were to see more carefully you would see the many virtual hugs, I like yous and looking cute todays.

So maybe you are thinking, maybe Quinton is just keeping it professional right? Nope, he proceeds to vent about his own problems because his Discord server isn't enough.

It seems this Flowergothic person actually overplayed the supportive friend role for Quinton, huh? Honestly is kind of concerning on both ends specially at the point Julia starts posting fan reactions and comments for iBinged iCarly in order to cheer him up.

So let's move to how this contrasts with some of her complaints about Quinton not accommodating her emotional needs she has mentioned on Twitter, TikTok and YouTube for over a year. Including her editing duties were also affecting her own channel (mainly her video on the Duggar family), opening up about dealing with her own KF thread and having to deal directly with an iCarly episode that reminded her of trauma.

That would be iHurt Lewbert.

Here's a TikTok that acts as a pretty grounded summary of things from her perspective with evidence.

Remember that the stalker narrative depends on a Twitter exchange we can't verify because Quinton softblocked her and according to him he doesn't have it either yet he has the screen caps he showed in his response. He only has the messages right after the Discord conversation ends when Julia was very civil, then says she became very aggressive and then has his evidence to prove it.

Truth be told I think he is owed as much scepticism as Julia faced, because this became a big game of he said, she said. Specially because people started throwing SH accusations for what’s in the same league as Quinton's very own DM humiliation a couple of years back.

Just remember one of the opening lines of the response is "I was hoping this was going to go away by ignoring it".
