#i guess he can um. walk around rolling one of those old tv sets on a cart they used to wheel in at school đ¤
I may be too optimistic about the Archive 81 adaptation at least in this one regard, but iâm not really jumping to negative conclusions from the vague statement that a âdark, deeply emotional romanceâ is at the core of the show--in many ways, I already see it that way. thoughts on a81 as a romance under the cut
To me, the vague info we have isn't enough to conclude theyâve completely rewritten Melody and Dan as romantic interests, at least not in a conventional sense. I've seen some upset reactions suggesting this, so I think some may be assuming the worst, but I'm not quite there yet. tbf...Melody already is Dan's love interest, at least in s1! By which I mean she is the name and voice onto which he projects his desire for human connection. (he does the same thing in s2 with clara. it's a thing he does.) Quite honestly, I did see the source material as a âromance,â in the dark and dysfunctional sense of a romance as consumptionâdan consuming and being consumed by the tapes, developing a one-sided relationship with the melody he invented in his head because hers was the only voice he had for so long at his loneliest and darkest time. because she was the only one who could possibly understand what he was going through. because he was vicariously experiencing her life through the tapes--to him, it felt like they shared experiences, although in reality he was only a passive witness...at least at first. (and this is really interesting to me--it's like the whole blue velvet conundrum, "i don't know if you're a detective or a pervert." are you solving an archival mystery, dan, or are you just a voyeur getting way in over your head and inventing intimacy where none exists? can we have a relationship with someone we "know" through documents without being known in return? what does that look like, what does that mean? what is the role of an archive and an archivist, what are their relationships to subjects, how do documents form narratives?)
season 1 was a romance on multiple levelsâbetween Melody and Alexa, and also about people like Melody and Dan who canât stop listening and poking and prodding at something until itâs eaten them alive. also likeâŚmarc is a producer on the show and it's his material that includes gay characters in prominent roles in every season so. Just sort of hard for me to imagine taking archive 81 of all things and turning it into a milquetoast straight love story, because it's so...it's such a weird thing, honestly still in shock it's even being adapted for TV. It feels like one of the last things you'd even want to add visuals to because so much of what it's about is sound and noise and the weird scrappy writing that swings wildly at every pitch, misses a lot of them, keeps swinging anyway with greater vigor. It's actively worse and less interesting by leagues to turn it into a played-straight romance between Melody and Dan rather than Dan developing a disturbed parasocial relationship with the voice of a woman who is narrating him past the point of no return while she herself ventures deeper and deeper into something she will never really escape ever again. (And then manages to build a life like that with her wife anyway.) Then again, this is television, so maybe worse and less interesting is the goal...but then I have to think there are easier stories to adapt than this one. đĽ´
The romance is Dan and the tapes, Melody and the Visser mystery, people and the inexorable pull of knowing things we are not meant to know even if it kills us or, as is often the case in a81, irrevocably alters us. That's the story I hope they're interested in telling.
I think this is why season one was really peak for me. I wouldn't necessarily make the romance genre claim for other seasons, but for this one I would. (In the vein of calling House of Leaves a romance.) Then again, it's Netflix, so I'm prepared to eat these words--it's possible they'll try to shoehorn in a conventional romance to draw in viewers who otherwise might look at the premise and source material and go, what the fuck is happening here? Which of course detracts from what a81 has going for it, which is swinging and missing and swinging again in an off-the-beaten-path medium without the rigidly enforced genre and plot limitations of television where listeners know what they're getting is a labor of love, something weird and silly and rough around the edges and always changing. I'll watch more out of morbid curiosity to see if I can understand how and why and what is gained/lost when an audio story like this is adapted...even though at the end of the day, for me, the joy of a81 was really the exuberance of the storytelling and witnessing mr. dan powell's obsession with sounds and odd noises...a love letter to sound indeed.

Into The Unknown, Part 10
First
Previous
Grocery store trips were weird. Tim had never taken them before, and now here he was buying food for the three of them regularly. Heâd thought it would be harder, for some reason. But, no, it was just boring.
Tim rolled his eyes as Damian pointed to the nearest brightly colored object -- a bag of Not Cheetos⌠holy shit they were called Fritos this wasnât allowed he has never been so vehemently against anything in his life.
He sighed as the baby yelled at him for the bag. This was his fault. He shouldnât have gone in the chip aisle.
He looked down at the kid in front of him with an apologetic smile.
âNo, kiddo. See, I would love to get that for you but, unfortunately, Mari said I canât buy you any more random sweets. Blame her, not me.â
Damian was, apparently, too smart for his tricks because he banged his fist on the front of the cart and babbled at him angrily.
Tim sighed and leaned forward until his forehead touched the cool metal of the cart, thinking.
And then he got back up and handed the kid the bag of chips. Damian didn't know that it was food, Tim was pretty sure, and he had nothing against⌠âFritosâ (outside of their name, obviously). So, why not? He could eat them. It was better than dealing with a tantrum in the middle of a store, at least.
Damian lit up and hugged the bag to his chest as if it was a soft stuffed animal and not a plastic bag filled with air and maybe a few chips.
Tim smiled faintly and pressed a kiss to the top of his head and then continued on his way, scanning over the list idly.
Oh. Marinette had added something. He squinted down at her messy scrawl, bringing it close to his face as if he could will the words to make sense.
And it worked. Ha. Take that everyone who didnât believe in him.
Okay. So, she needed âpadsâ.
Sure. No problem.
He walked over to the aisle.
Hm. Okay. There might be a tiny little problem.
Why were there so many different brands? And sizes?
He stared around at them all helplessly. Sure, he had glimpsed the box a few times but he certainly hadnât paid it much mind -- it wasnât for him, why would he?! But now he was standing in an entire aisle full of products and there were way too many of them. And why did they all look the same? Shit!
He looked at Damian, who was biting the edge of the chip bag and giggling about the crinkling noises it made. But, once Tim turned his gaze on him, he looked up at him with wide eyes, attentive.
âAny chance you know what type Mari uses?â Tim joked softly.
Damian popped off the chip bag so he could babble at him. It was very helpful.
He considered, very briefly, just standing there in the aisle with the same helpless expression until some kind-hearted person took pity on him and he could avoid the embarrassment of calling Marinette at work to ask what types of pads she used⌠but, no, the idea of asking some random person for help was way worse. He had to just suck it up and do it.
He pulled out his phone and called Marinette. He was pretty sure it was lunchtime for her, anyways.
She picked up within a few rings, voice slightly muffled as she answered with a simple: âProblem?â
Tim didnât know whether to be embarrassed or amused that her first thought when he called her was that something was wrong.
But he quickly alleviated her fears: âNo, everythingâs fine.â
He could hear the phone shift slightly as she assumedly went back to eating. âRight, then what is it?â
âNothing bad, reallyâŚâ Tim started awkwardly. His face reddened without his permission. âJust wanted to know what brand you used for, um, hygiene products.â
â... hyg --? Oh.â He heard her laugh at him and his face only reddened further. âWhat, the world's greatest detective couldnât figure it out?â
âThatâs my dad!â He mumbled a little huffily.
She snickered a little longer before finally saying: âI think the brand is called âForeverâ here.â
âSee! You donât even know!â He said even as he pulled down a box with the word written across it in elegant script.
âThatâs because the name changed when --...â She seemed to remember she was at work -- or, at least, that there were other people around -- because she cut herself off suddenly before she could admit to being a dimension hopper in a world that likely wouldnât even believe in the multiverse. âWhen⌠I switched brands! Yeah. Heh.â
(Tim swore he heard her mumble âtechnically not even a lieâ but he wasnât quite sure.)
He started to put it in the basket but then he paused.
âThereâs a lot of sizes.â
âUm⌠I think a four?â
âYeah, no, they have letters here.â
âFuck, right, hate that, um⌠D, I guess.â
He switched out the Cs he had gotten and smiled as Damian reached for him. He clearly wanted out of the cart -- Tim wondered, vaguely, if it was uncomfortable -- but that wasnât going to happen so he decided to distract him:
âWant to talk to Mari, kiddo?â
The kid blinked up at him a few times before lighting up. âMar-ree!â
He pressed the phone to Damianâs ear with one hand until the kid took it himself and then motioned for him to go ahead. âTakalam maeaha.â
â... marhaba?â Damian said, giving Tim a look that seemed to scream âyouâre weird for making me talk into a boxâ.
Marinette must have said something back, because the kidâs eyes went wide. Damian looked around wildly for a few moments, clearly trying to figure out where Marinette was, before he realized that her voice was coming from the box. He gasped a little and pressed the phone against his ear even harder and started to âtalkâ to her. It was a weird mix of Arabic and a few English syllables thrown together haphazardly, Tim was just glad he was learning.
Tim started on his way through the store again, sure he wasnât going to get his phone back anytime soon.
Heâd gotten all the necessities and they had money left in the weekly budget...
He headed to the kidâs aisle, head tipping from side to side as he considered what to get. Maybe a new book? Damian had taken a liking to them, though Tim was pretty sure that was more because he thought the English language sounded kind of funny rather than any real passion for stories.
He picked up a book about letters and looked down at Damian. He sounded annoyed now.
He looked at Tim with an annoyed expression and shook Timâs poor phones a few times. âMar-ree!â
Ah. She must have hung up because her break was over.
How was he supposed to explain how phones worked to a baby? Especially since he knew phones so intimately thanks to his time working on the model he was using.
He gently pulled the phone from the kidâs hands. âMariâs at work. You can see her later.â
âBuâŚâ Damian pouted.
Damn it. How dare the kid be cute? Tim was about five seconds away from walking to Marinetteâs job so the kid would smile again.
He hesitated before reaching behind himself and grabbing the first soft thing his hands landed on. He pulled it out and squinted at the stuffed cat. It was cute, he supposed, but he didnât know why it was rainbow-colored.
Whatever.
He offered the plush to Damian and the kid seemed to instantly forget about the phone.
(And the chips. But the kid had put it in his mouth so it looked like Tim was buying that anyway.)
He pressed a kid to the top of his head and then continued on his way.
⌠and that was when he heard it:
Haha, someone got called a DILF.
⌠wait a minute⌠he was the only person with a kid around hereâŚ
His head whipped around so fast he would have gotten whiplash if he was old -- which he wasnât -- to see two girls in their mid teens. And they were definitely looking at him. They even tried to hide behind the next aisle in order to avoid his gaze once they realized he had heard them.
Tim didnât know what to do about this. Someone had actually called him...
He was 19! He couldnât be that yet! How?! No!
And, sure, the logical part of him knew they were technically right. He was attractive (he hoped) and, when it came to the âdadâ thing⌠if Damian never got his memories back, then Tim would pretty much be the only dad that he had ever known. He would be a dad.
But, again, he was 19-years-old, he didnât want to think about this.
So, to ward off the impending crisis, he looked around the aisle he was in wildly for some kind of âkidâ thing.
He found some marshmallow guns and grabbed two. Then he got some marshmallows because those werenât included for some reason. Whatever.
He looked down at the basket, aware that he was now over budget, and eventually decided to put back the book. Who needs to learn?
(Besides, if Damian really wanted to just hear people talk, Tim could totally do that. He had so many random facts in his head thanks to random rabbit holes he had gone down while sleep-deprived, he could just rant about those if the kid wanted.)
So, he checked out, loaded up with all the bags and the baby, and started walking home.
⌠he was totally going to learn to drive. Even if Gotham streets were safer -- especially when he had a baby on him -- it was a pain to carry all the groceries even the few blocks to their apartment. Literally. The bags dug into his skin. He swore he could taste blood.
But he had an end goal in sight, so he went faster than usual that day.
He set up the guns, leaving Marinetteâs on the kitchen table and then took a seat on the couch with Damian. They spent the few remaining hours playing games (Tim was pretty sure, he had absolutely no clue what Damian was saying but the kid seemed to have fun and that was all that mattered) and watching TV.
Tim heard his door click and looked up.
He quickly reached for the marshmallow gun and turned to point it at the door.
Damian watched him in silence, perfectly still as if he understood that this was something that they needed to be quiet for.
Usually, this kind of worried Tim. They always gave Damian to Kaalki and Tikki when they sparred, but Damian had always been⌠shockingly well-behaved? Not in the good way, either, he was far too still and quiet. Tim was starting to suspect that, at the very least, the kid remembered the first year of his life in the League. He hoped that the trauma would fade away with time. Kids forget things that they experienced as babies when they grew older, Tim himself couldnât remember anything from before he was three, so hopefully this would be the same.
⌠but he really wanted to get Marinette with a marshmallow gun. So, he swallowed down the slight bit of anxiety rising in his chest and looked through the scope as Marinette finally managed to open the finicky door.
Damianâs eyes widened and he made a quiet âah!â sound.
Tim jumped at the sudden sound and pulled the trigger. The marshmallow gun made a fmpf sound as it fired off the shot.
The marshmallow bounced off of Marinetteâs forehead harmlessly. Because, yâknow, it was a marshmallow.
She blinked a few times and then knelt down to pick up the fallen marshmallow. She scanned it over a few times, eyes narrowed.
Tim hardly paid attention to her, looking over at Damian. The kid looked very confused, eyes darting between the gun and Marinette and the marshmallow on the floor repeatedly as if he wasnât sure what he was seeing.
And then he flopped back on the sofa with a quiet whimpering sound.
Marinette and Tim frowned at each other. He could see confusion and concern knitting her eyebrows together, meanwhile all he had was dread coiling itself in his gut. Because⌠what if Damian did remember his first year with the League? Or, even worse, what if he would slowly regain all his memories? No kid deserved that...
Tim felt something hit the side of his head, snapping him out of his daze. Oh. Marinette had grabbed the other gun and promptly gotten her revenge.
Damian didnât see this, at least, just staring at the ceiling with wide eyes.
Marinette sat on Damianâs other side, gently picking him up and nuzzling her nose against his cheek. Then, she sat him back down between them, sidling close so the kid could curl into her side. Tim, after a few seconds, scooted closer as well.
âWant some marshmallows? Theyâre yummy,â she tried hesitantly.
She shot one into her hand and, after tearing it in half just in case, handed it to Damian.
The kid took a hesitant bite, still looking a little put out, but then he gasped a little. He happily chewed away at the marshmallow, the event easily wiped from his mind in favor of the yummy thing in his hand.
Tim sighed in relief, reaching behind himself for the marshmallow bag so they wouldnât have to shoot any more. Just in case.
âQuick thinking,â he said, which was kind of a compliment if you squinted.
She smiled and leaned over to press a kiss to his cheek. âItâs what Iâm known for.â
There was a few seconds before she sighed just a little, gently combing her fingers through Damianâs hair. The kid reached out and gripped Timâs shirt in his hand, surely getting it messed up thanks to the marshmallow on his hands but whatever, and tried to tug him closer. He obliged. Marinette rested her head on his shoulder absently.
âWhat would I do without you?â He mused.
âProbably starve on the streets,â she said bluntly.
He scoffed a little. âThe minute this kid goes to sleep Iâm going to shoot another marshmallow at you.â
âYou can try. Only reason you even got me last time was âcause I didnât know you were going to do it.â
âThe element of surprise is a totally valid tactic!â He pretended to whine.
She grinned at him. âBut it wonât work again.â
He wrapped an arm around her lazily. âWeâll see.â

Recovery Confessions - Yoongi
Not edited, Iâm sorry for mistakes!
ââââââââââââââ
You stumbled out of the elevator and into the hallway, almost falling over from all the stuff you were carrying. A duffel bag was slung across your shoulder, an iced americano and iced caramel latte in a cup holder in one hand, way too much take out food consisting of different kinds of noodles and gimbap in a large brown bag in the other... how you made it this far without a disaster was beyond you.
Finally you made it to the end of the hall and set the food down before knocking on the black wooden door in front of you. After a few seconds it cracked open and your friend's face appeared on the other side.
"Aiiiishhh (y/n), what are you doing here?" he complained, furrowing his eyebrows and rolling his eyes, "I told you I'm fine!"
You pushed open the door further despite his struggles to keep it shut and then had a plain view of the living room. Dishes were all over the coffee table, snack bags littered the floor, and clothes were scattered all about the couch and chairs.
"Hmm, yeah, I can see that." you answered sarcastically, giving him an I-told-you-so look.
He protested again as you entered his apartment and set your stuff down.
"Seriously, (y/n), I'm fine. I'll clean all this later, okay? I don't need you here."
"Look, Yoongs, that may be the case and that's fine. I'll leave if you want me to! But I did buy way too much take out, so you have to at least help me eat it."
He looked at you annoyingly.
Then you held up his cup of coffee and shook it gently.
"And look! I brought you an iced Americano!"
His face immediately perked up as he reached for the drink.
He then took a long sip before mumbling,
"Fine, I'll eat with you."
You smiled proudly.
"Ha ha, I knew the Americano would do the trick ."
He rolled his eyes again but smiled.
You cleared a space on the coffee table, setting the dirty dishes on the counter in the adjoining kitchen. You would get to those later. Then you picked up the clothes that laid about the couch and tossed them toward the bedroom, making a mental note to start a load of laundry after eating.
You spread out all the food and grabbed chopsticks for the two of you as Yoongi sat down gently on the couch.
"So how are you feeling?" you asked, handing him his chopsticks, "How's your shoulder?"
You glanced at the black sling that held his arm and shoulder in place as it rested above a black sack. You couldn't help but feel a little sad.
He grabbed some cold noodles and stuffed them in his mouth before answering.
"It's fine. I haven't really had to use much of the pain medication so far."
You reached for a piece of beef gimbap.
"That's great! The less the better." you replied.
"Yeah, it's just hard to sleep sometimes. I get pretty uncomfortable. And I'm just so fucking bored already."
You couldn't help but chuckle a little.
"You? Bored? No way!" you teased sarcastically.
He glared at you.
"I can make you leave now, you know."
You moved your hands holding the chopsticks back and forth in protest.
"No, no, I'm sorry, that's the only joke, I swear."
You held a hand to your heart in promise as Yoongi shook his head.
There was a pause.
"So what have you been doing then?" you asked curiously.
He pointed to the tv which had an NBA basketball game playing.
"This."
"Watching basketball?"
He nodded, picking up a dumpling.
"And watching YouTube videos. I can't use the keyboard on my computer so I can't make music. I obviously can't play the guitar. I can barely put on pants for god's sake."
"Well," you said in between bites, "I know you don't want my help, Yoongs, but I'm here. So maybe I could at least entertain you a little."
It was his turn to chuckle.
"So you're saying you think you're entertaining?"
You narrowed your eyes at him.
"Hey now! You've been friends with me all these years so I must at least bring something to the table!"
He gestured to all the take out in front of you two.
"Uh yeah, free food."
You huffed, half a dumpling sticking out of your mouth.
"If you hadn't just had surgery, I'd hit you right about now."
He laughed.
"Hmm so I guess this surgery was at least good for some thing."
You cocked your head and smiled at him sympathetically.
"Come on, it will be worth it, Yoongi, you know that. Think how much better you'll feel on the stage when you're healed."
He just hummed in disbelief and shoveled more food in his mouth before turning his attention back to the basketball game.
After a little while you both had stopped eating, too full to continue on.
"I really should take a shower." Yoongi stated, rising carefully from his position on the couch.
"Okay," you replied, watching him walk towards the bathroom down the hall, "Let me know if you need anything."
He sighed.
"I told you, I'm fine," you heard him mumble.
You rolled your eyes. He could be so damn stubborn sometimes.
You took this as your chance to clean up. The stubborn man was going to be gone for at least a little while.
You put the lids on all the containers of your leftovers and took them into the kitchen to place in the refrigerator for Yoongi later. Then you collected all the wrappers and old take out containers and threw them in the trash. You gathered all the dirty dishes and washed them, laying them out neatly to dry, keeping them on the counter so Yoongi didn't have to reach for anything. Finally, you bunched up all the clothes laying around and put them in the washer, dirty or not. Nothing felt better when you were home all day than wearing clean clothes.
Just as you pushed the start button on the washer you heard a voice from down the hall.
"(y/n)!" Yoongi yelled, "(y/n), are you still here?"
You walked to the bathroom door and stood outside.
"Yeah, I'm here, Yoongi. Is everything okay?"
You heard him sigh.
"I can't... I'm having trouble..." he let out a groan followed by a pause.
"Yoongi?" you called, knocking softly.
"I need your help.." he said so quietly you had to put your ear to the door to make sure you heard him correctly.
You hesitated.
"O-okay, can I come in?"
"Um, yeah," he responded, "but don't look, okay? I'm... not fully dressed."
Your face got red immediately. In all your years of friendship you hadn't even seen Yoongi with his shirt off. You knew it was something he wasn't very comfortable with. However, that's not to say you hadn't been curious...
"Alright, I won't look. I'm coming in."
You turned the knob and opened the door, a wave of hot steam exiting around you. You entered, shielding your eyes with your hand to not look at him.
"What do you need help with?" you asked, just seeing his feet on the black tiled floor.
He sighed again.
"I can't get my pants or shirt on. I-I got my underwear on, thank god, but I'm having trouble with everything else."
"Well... how have you been doing it by yourself before?" you couldn't help but wonder out loud.
"Not well by any means, but it really started hurting after my shower this time. I think I may have moved it too much in there. I'm worried about hurting it more."
You nodded in understanding.
"Okay, of course I'll help. But Yoongi, I think... I'll have to look at you. I can't help you dress just by looking at your feet."
You assumed he nodded as he responded with a quiet Okay.
You looked up at him finally, his face bright red and his milky white skin blotchy from the hot shower. He was just in a pair of black boxer briefs that hugged his narrow hips and skinny thighs. You couldn't help but take him in a little. His stomach was in no means muscular, but rather just slightly squishy. His arms and shoulders were nicely toned, though, probably from all the dancing he usually does on a daily basis. His skin looked so smooth and was so bright in this lighting that he looked almost angelic.
But what caught you most by surprise was the area on his shoulder where his surgery had been. There was a large, red, stitched up scar across the blade, and purple and blue bruising covering the entirety of his right shoulder, upper back and upper arm. You wanted to cry the moment you saw it. He must be in so much pain.
"Yoongi..." you whispered, reaching towards it but not touching it.
"Looks brutal, right?" he chuckled softly, âthey said it would probably look like this.â
Your eyes began to well up with tears before you could stop them. He noticed right away.
"Aiiiish, (y/n), don't cry, come on!" Yoongi exclaimed, "I'm fine, just help me put on my clothes."
You nodded and wiped the tears from your eyes before grabbing the plaid drawstring pajama pants from the floor next to him. You let him steady himself on you as he stepped into them, and you pulled them up, stopping at his waist and gently tying the strings, your fingers grazing the soft skin of his lower stomach. You noticed goosebumps appear on his skin at your touch, but you didn't dare make eye contact with him at this moment. This small act of helping him get dressed was way more intimate feeling than anything had ever been with him.
You reached over where the matching button up shirt was hanging and held it behind him so he could snake his arms in the sleeves, maneuvering it in a way where he didn't have to move his right arm much at all. Then you returned to his front and buttoned each button before straightening out the collar. Finally your eyes met, but Yoongi quickly looked down to the floor.
"Thanks.." he mumbled.
You cleared your throat and backed away from him.
"No problem. I'll -uh, see you back out there."
Then you turned and walked out of the bathroom, shutting the door behind you.
You felt a little dizzy as you headed back into the living room; out of breath and flustered. Your muscles had been tense without you even realizing it. You plopped back down on the couch and shifted your attention to the basketball game that was still playing on the tv, hoping to drown out the feelings and questions of what just happened back there from your racing mind.
A few minutes later Yoongi appeared in the living room again. His black hair was damp from the shower, the blotchy red still evident on his pale face.
He sat down at the other end of the couch from you. Did he feel as weird about what just happened as you did?
"I decided to take a dose of the pain medicine," he stated, curling his legs underneath him, "I'm not sure what I did differently in there but it really started to hurt."
You frowned. He looked so delicate.
"I'm sorry, Yoongi."
He rolled his eyes.
"It's fine, whatever. Just really fucking annoying. I have to live like this for at least 3 more months? How am I supposed to do that?"
You shrugged and looked at him sympathetically.
"You'll be okay. You're strong, Yoongi. And you did the right thing. Plus, I'm sure after a little while they'll let you participate in at least some promotional stuff with the band so you won't be just sitting around here."
He looked down at his hands and chewed his fingernail in anxiousness.
"And in the meantime," you continued, "whether you like it or not, I've decided I'm going to be here to help you. Because that's what friends do."
You gave a triumphant nod and fully expected him to argue with you at your conclusion, but instead he said nothing. He just looked defeated and it broke your heart.
There was a pause as you looked back up at the tv screen, wondering what you could do to cheer him up.
"You want to watch something else? Maybe a movie?" you asked, reaching for the remote on the coffee table.
"Yeah, sure, whatever." he mumbled in response.
You scrolled through the movies he had available before stopping at one and looking at him.
"Ooh, 'The Dark Knight'! I know it's one of both of our favorites. You want to watch that?"
He just nodded, staring at the ground in silence.
You could tell he was deep in thought, probably worried about his shoulder and his career. You suddenly felt selfish for wondering earlier if he had felt anything back when you helped him in the bathroom. That was probably the farthest thing from his mind at the moment. He had never focused on any of those kinds of feelings before, so why on earth would he now? You pushed the thoughts out of your mind and replaced them with ones that were important in the present.
"Do you need anything? Maybe a drink or a pillow from your bedroom?" you questioned.
He looked up at you finally as the movie began to play.
"Umm, maybe a pillow would be nice..."
You nodded and got up, walking into his room and coming back out, a comfy pillow in hand.
"Here you go."
He shifted his body down a little and laid on his back as you placed the pillow under his neck and head, his slinged arm laying at his side.
"I feel really drained..." he said softly, his eyes fluttering shut.
"Yeah, I imagine the medicine is already kicking in, and your body is tired from all the healing it's trying to do."
He just grumbled a response and let out a soft sigh.
You made yourself comfortable then turned back to the tv to let him fall asleep peacefully.
"If I fall asleep," Yoongi suddenly whispered, sounding half asleep already, "please don't leave me, (y/n)."
You smiled at him gently even though you knew he couldn't see. Things like this rarely came out of Yoongi's mouth but it always made you feel warm and fuzzy when they did.
"I'll be here, Yoongs. I promise."
About halfway through the movie you looked over at Yoongi sleeping soundly. His thin lips were partly opened, small snores emitting from his nose, some of his bangs falling in his eyes. You resisted the urge to move them away. Instead, you grabbed a blanket that was laying on the chair next to you and got up to spread it across his still body. He stirred slightly but instantly started snoring again. You couldn't help but smile.
You decided to go back into the kitchen to finish tidying up while he slept. But as soon as you stepped away from the couch where he lay, you felt a hand wrap gently around your wrist. It startled you and you looked back at Yoongi.
"Mmmmmnnooo..." he groaned softly, eyes still shut, "(y/n)..."
"It's okay, Yoongs, I'm still here. I'm just going into the kitchen. Go back to sleep."
You tried to release your hand from his grasp but he continued to hold on tightly.
"Nooo, (y/n), wait," he mumbled, still not looking at you.
You chuckled softly.
"What is it, Yoongi? Do you need something?"
"I just...you're so... such a good friend, (y/n)." he said, "I-I'm sorry I don't tell you enough. I'm not... good at that."
You smiled.
"It's okay, I understand. I just want to be there for you because, well, I know you would do the same in a heartbeat."
You weren't sure if he was even conscious enough to actually be comprehending what you were saying, or even what he was saying for that matter, but it felt nice to have this conversation.
There was a pause as you realized he was moving his hand down further, suddenly holding your hand in his. Your heart skipped a beat. Should you pull away?
"Yoongi, I-"
He interrupted before you could finish
"Do you ever think we could be more than friends?"
Your felt your heart stop. You looked at him, his eyes were still closed, he looked like he could fall back asleep at any moment.
"What?" you managed to whisper out.
"You're just so... caring and funny, and you're not afraid to challenge me and tease me and I like that. I just..I like you, (y/n)."
You swallowed, your heart racing, you breathing getting heavier. This didn't sound like Yoongi. This was drugged up, exhausted Yoongi. He didn't know what he was saying. He was imagining things. He didn't mean any of this.
But why did that make you feel so sad?
"Yoongi... you're-you're on drugs," you stuttered, finally pulling your hand away from his, "Your mind is a little loopy right now. I don't think you know what you're saying..."
"No, (y/n), fuck I know what I'm saying, okay? I-I do know what I'm saying. Do you?"
You ran a hand through your hair, unsure of what to say or do next. You weren't sure if he was serious. If he could barely open his eyes, how could he make such abrupt confessions?
"Well... maybe you should get more sleep. You seem out of it. Can we... talk about this later?"
He sighed and opened his tired and puffy eyes to look at you. He looked so small and so fragile in this state.
"You're rejecting me," he stated flatly, attempting to sit up more to show he was awake, "Shit... I shouldn't have said anything..."
You shook your head immediately and sat down in the small space next to him.
"No, no I'm not rejecting you," you reassured him, but you were still weary, "I just," you looked down at your fingers, "I just don't know how serious you are right now. You took some strong pain meds, and you're tired from your surgery... I don't want you saying things you... might regret later."
His free hand suddenly reached up to your face to tuck a piece of hair behind your ear and you leaned into his touch. He gave you a lazy smile.
"I would never regret saying those things to you. I mean all of it, (y/n), drugged up or not. How can I prove it to you?"
You bit your lip and shrugged in response, looking into his dark brown eyes. You noticed them glance down at your lips, then back at your eyes as his hand moved to the back of your head.
"Come here," he whispered softly, gently pulling your face closer towards his until your lips were just centimeters apart. He closed the gap between them in a tender kiss. You kissed him back, relishing the feeling of his soft lips on yours, something you had only ever imagined before.
Once you broke away he smiled, rubbing his thumb on your cheek.
"Does that help?" he asked.
You chuckled and fiddled with the collar of his shirt.
"You know, you should be soft Yoongi more often," you joked, grinning up at him, "I kind of like it."
He rolled his eyes and smiled wider, poking your chest gently with his finger.
"Hey, don't get used to it."
You laughed.
"Come on, I won't. I know you better than that."
He smirked at you and pulled you to him again as you shared another wonderful kiss.

I hope you're a plumber because youâve got my pipe leaking

â Written for the BTS Porn Cliche Fest â
Jungkook sighs as he plonks down onto the lush gold velvet Chesterfield sofa. His long blond hair falls into his eyes and he puffs it away dramatically. This wasn't how he pictured his life when he married one of the most powerful and rich men in the city. Jungkook thought it would be lavish cocktail parties, expensive cars, jet setting around the globe and attractive half naked pool boys. What he got was a grumpy elderly workaholic husband who forbids him from staying out late, a pool cleaner who looks like John Wayne Gacy and a husband who can't get his dick hard. At least he gets free reign of the black card!
He picks up the remote and points it towards the TV. The screen flicks on to loud moaning. It's a bondage scene - some skinny twink is tied up and a big burly leather clad man is thrusting into him at incredible speed. Jungkook yawns and changes the channel. He watched that one earlier in the day. He flicks unimpressively through various channels before deciding to turn the TV off. He's bored, SO bored. He hasn't had sex all week, he hasn't had GOOD sex in years. His husband needs help via a little blue pill to even get it up and since he has been too busy with a big case load at work recently Jungkook's been left to his own devices and he's starting to get antsy.
Just then a brilliant idea pops into his head. A few weeks ago they had trouble with a clogged drain and the most beautiful man alive was sent to work on it. Jungkook remembers the way his broad shoulders strained under his work uniform, his big plush lips pouting as he concentrated, and those big feet. They were huge. Big feet, big cock as they say. And Jungkook was longing to find out if that was the case with the statuesque plumber.
He rushes up the stairs, taking two steps at a time and flings himself into his husbands office. He skips over to the desk and throws open every drawer to find the address book containing the mystery plumbers number.
"Ugh, where the hell has that old bastard put it..." Jungkook whines throwing important documents in the air. He continues searching drawers until he finds the book he was looking for.
"Tada!! Okay, now to find his number." a giggle escapes his lips, Jungkook is euphoric. He knows his husband wouldn't be happy with his sinful plans, but that's what is making it all that much more tempting to him. Jungkook is being a little brat. He misses feeling like this. Married life has well and truly stifled his exuberance for life.
He reaches over to the telephone on the desk and dials the number, but no one answers. He tries again and still no answer. He slams the receiver down and pouts, with his arms crossed in front of him. This is his punishment for thinking of fucking another man. Of course it would never happen, what was he even thinking?
*ring ring*
Jungkook eyes the phone suspiciously, has his husband somehow found out he's in his office and is ringing to yell at him? He quickly scans the room to spot any security cameras before picking up.
"Hello yeah sorry I missed your calls, who is this?"
"Who is this?" Jungkook enquired sceptically.
"Uhh you rang me? Is this about a plumbing job?"
Jungkook's eyes go wide, he's talking to handsome plumber, oh shit this is his chance.
"Oh yes, sorry, Hi, yes we have a problem with the . . . pipe, yeah the pipe under the sink. . um in the kitchen. There is water everywhere I don't know what to do.â
"Okay, I'm actually not working tonight. . . "
"OH NO PLEASE I need you . . uh I mean I need your help!" His eyes roll into the back of his head, he sounds like such an idiot right now.
"Text me your address and I'll be there in about 40 minutes. This will be an after hours service so I have to charge more."
"That's fine! That's okay, thank you so much." Jungkook hangs up and fist pumps the air then quickly sends his address to the man. His plan is in motion, now all he has to do is cause some damage.
He runs down the stairs and straight into the kitchen, his knee high socks helping him slide to the sink. He drops down onto his knees and throws the doors to the sink cupboard open. Jungkook knows absolutely nothing about plumbing, so he starts to unscrew whatever he can find. He stands back up and turns the faucet on then crouches back down to see if his wicked plan has worked. He can see a trickle of water escaping the pipe, but it's not enough so he unscrews it more. All of a sudden water is gushing everywhere. He thinks it's still not enough to have needed to call a plumber out (and he does have a flair for dramatics), so he grabs a bowl, fills it to the brim then splashes it all over the floor, he does it again this time splashing inside the cupboard. He stands back and takes a look at his handiwork. Not bad he thinks to himself.
Jungkook runs to the laundry and grabs a few towels, placing them around the floor, to look as though he had attempted to clean the mess then scrampers his way to his bedroom to get ready. He removes his sweats and puts on a cute pair of pink panties, followed by an oversized hoody. He goes to head out the door when he stops and spins back around. He walks to his side of the wardrobe and brings out a purple box. Inside are a range of toys, but there is one in particular Jungkook is looking for. A black butt plug with a beautiful glistening pink gem. Before he puts the box away he grabs a bottle of lube and then makes his way to the bed to undress.
He lubes up his fingers, reaches down and slowly inserts one inside himself, he pumps in and out a few times before adding another. He scissors his fingers, stretching himself out perfectly for the plug. He grabs the butt plug and slathers it with lube before pushing it into his pink hole. Jungkook let's out a small moan when it's in and pulls his panties back up. Just then he hears the door bell ring. Shit, has it been 40 minutes already?!
He pops the lube into his hoody pocket, wipes his hands in the duvet cover then takes a quick look in the mirror, brushing down his long blond locks with his fingers before making his way down the stairs and towards the front door. Jungkook can feel his heart racing, he's starting to second guess himself now. What if Mr Plumber isn't even into guys?
The doorbell rings again, so he takes a deep breath and opens the heavy front door.
Jungkook looks around curiously, the man in front of him has a terrible fake moustache and is wearing some kind of costume. He's seen this costume before, but where exactly . . . oh that's right!
"Uhhh, why are you dressed as Mario?"
The taller man let's out a loud laugh before gesturing to be let in. Jungkook's cock is as confused as he is, but he steps aside allowing the man entrance.
"I was at a fancy dress party when you rang. I didn't have time to get changed, is that okay? I mean, I am technically in a plumbers work uniform . . just not my own."
Jungkook studies him. He's wearing a red shirt underneath blue overalls, white gloves, an oversized red hat and that hilarious fake moustache. He's such a beautiful man, that he even makes the costume look good. Jungkook never thought he'd ever get hard over someone wearing work overalls, but here he is, swelling up already.
He coughs nervously, "No that's fine, sorry for calling on your day off but I just had no idea what to do, there is so much water everywhere."
The plumber smiles "Which way to the leak?"
Jungkook let's out a squeak and leads the man into the kitchen, he takes small deliberate steps, swishing his hips, looking back with an innocent smile. As they enter the plumber pops his toolbox down on the bench and crouches down to see the damage.
"You know us plumbers always take our work very seriously. We plunge straight into it.â the laugh that follows is the cutest laugh Jungkook has ever heard, it reminds him of windshield wipers. He can't help but laugh at the cheesy joke.
"I know a good plumbing joke." Jungkook exclaims.
"Oh yeah? I'd love to hear it.â his attention now solely on Jungkook.
"I once gave a
carpenter, plumber and a bricklayer a hand job at the same time. I guess you could call me a Jack off all trades."
The plumbers ears go red immediately and he turns his attention back to the sink. Jungkook groans quietly, that didn't go down well. He thought it was a fantastic joke too, one of his best. He leans over the bench and absentmindedly twirls his hair in between his fingers. The man is truly irresistible, his shoulders are so incredibly wide, arms toned, and he has a fantastic ass in those overalls.
"So what's your name anyway?" Jungkook murmurs.
"I'm Seokjin, you can just call me Jin though. And you are?"
"Jungkook..."
"Is your dad home? I've been here a few times before."
"My dad? Ooohh you mean my husband, umm no he's at work. . . late . . again." Jungkook huffs and throws his arms down on the bench, his head follows until his torso is leaning completely on the bench top. In this position his hoody rides up showing off the pale pink of his underwear. Out of the corner of his eye he can see Jin peek before looking away. A smirk appears on Jungkook's face.
"So tell me another joke! That was a good one before."
Jin clears his throat "I knew a plumber that was working on the side to become an artist. Unfortunately, he couldn't find a faucet for his creativity."
Jungkook let's out an over the top laugh which causes his ass to jiggle. That joke was incredibly lame, but clearly Jin is into this shit so he's gonna play it up. He slowly leans up from the bench and walks over to the fridge. "Would you like a drink?"
"Water will be fine thanks, if you have it.â
Jungkook reaches as far back into the fridge as he can, bent over in a way that isn't necessary, drinks are on the top shelf after all, but he wants to give the attractive man a little show. He walks over and holds out the bottle of water for Jin. When he grabs it their fingers touch gently causing one another to lock eyes.
"Ya know, I've been doing this plumbing thing for years, I'm used to seeing all sorts of leaks. This one though is unusual.."
"Hmm really? How?"
Jin stands and places the bottle in the sink, he walks over to Jungkook and stands uncomfortably close to the blond. His breath warm against Jungkook's ear as he whispers.
"Well I can tell someone got under that sink and loosened the locknut and coupling nuts and I'm thinking it may have been a certain someone parading around in hardly any clothes, showing off his pretty little ass at every chance."
Jungkook's breath hitches in his throat, the man smells like beer and woody fig leaves and even with that ridiculous moustache on his face his entire aura right now is intimidating as fuck, and it's got Jungkook getting harder by the second.
"Does your old man not treat his little boy toy right huh? I've seen you around whenever I've been called here for a job. Always checking me out, is that why you called tonight? To think I thought you just had really terrible plumbing here..."
Jungkook can't even get any words out, so he just nods his head like some stupid dog toy you'd pop on the dash of your car. This causes Jin to laugh, his fingers tracing along Jungkook's jaw. He tilts the younger man's face up and smashes their lips together. The kiss is rushed and frenzied. Their teeth knock against each others and they are left panting, but it's perfect and Jungkook hasn't felt this alive in years.
Jin's soft velvety lips brush against Jungkook's earlobe as he purrs "What do you want me to do?"
"Whatever you want, please, anything." Jungkook tried to keep his voice steady, but it was no use, he was desperate to feel the attractive man inside him.
"Anything?" Jin cocked his head to the side, a wicked smile planted on his face. "I want you up on the dining room table, on all fours," he clapped his hands together twice "Chop chop, let's do this. And take the panties off too.â
Jungkook was too aroused to even question the strange request as he walked a little too eagerly through to the dining room. He quickly removed his panties then pulled back the dining room chair and used it to step up
onto the table. He got into position, his knees already aching a little as they dug into the wooden table top.
He could feel the calloused hands of the plumber running over his soft ass, before a hard smack was heard echoing through the room. Jungkook yelped, not expecting to be spanked but it felt so fucking good, so he wiggled his ass in the air hoping Jin would get the hint and do it again. Jin got it alright, and gave Jungkook 5 hard smacks right across his left ass check. He could feel pre cum leaking from his hard cock pooling onto the table below and his face flushed red from embarrassment.
He could feel Jin's hand on him again and braced himself for the next set of smacks, but instead his fingers lightly traced over the marks admiring his reddened handprint, slowly his fingers made their way to Jungkook's hole, where the plug was fully on display. He pushed on the gem causing Jungkook to let out a choked whimper.
"Did you put this in just for me?" Jin queries as he slowly pulls out the plug before pushing back in, amazed at the way Jungkook's hole seemed perfectly made for the toy, stretching easily to fit around the the widest part and then sucking the rest in.
"Y . . yes, for you." Jungkook gasped as Jin removed the toy completely leaving him feeling empty and open. He didn't have much time to get used to that feeling as Jin begin to kiss the back of his thighs, nipping and sucking sure to leave marks. His kisses trailed up to Jungkook's ass, lightly nibbling on each cheek. Jungkook was a mess already, panting and leaking pre cum, he so desperately wanted to reach between his legs and jerk himself off, but he wanted Jin to be the one to make him cum. Not his boring old, overly used hand.
Jin spread Jungkook's ass cheeks apart and ran his tongue over his open hole. Jungkook's needy whining spurred him on, so he fucked his tongue deep into his ass. Jungkook was in ecstasy he'd never had anyone eat him out before. It was a feeling like nothing he had ever experienced, lost in the feeling he pushed his ass back onto Jin's mouth and begged the man go faster. Jin enthusiastically grabbed onto his ass and spread his cheeks even further apart as he added a finger beside his tongue, fucking Jungkook's ass in tandem.
Jin removed his mouth from Jungkook's alluring hole, and continued to fuck him with his finger. "My mother always said you should eat every meal at the dining room table. And that was one of the best meals I've ever had." he casually removed his finger and watched as Jungkook's hole puckered open from the loss. He gave his ass a quick pat before standing back and getting undressed. Jungkook's knees were red and irritated from the pressure of being on the table, so he finally moved off his hands and knees and sat back on the table with his legs dangling over the side. His already big eyes went even wider when he saw the naked man in front of him. He was right, so fucking right. Jin was huge, massive, enormous, mammoth, super sized. It was the biggest fucking cock he had ever seen.
"Why are you in plumbing? You should be in porn. Look at that thing!" Jungkook pointed directly at Jin's cock. A look of utter amazement on his face.
"Why do you think plumbers and therapists make so much money?â
"I have no idea?" He shook his head, blond hair flailing around his face.
"Because no one else wants to deal with other peoples shit. Now lay back on the table for me will ya.â
Jungkook didn't have to be asked twice, he pushed himself back and lay flat on the table, Jin sauntered over and pulled Jungkook down so they were flush with one another. Jungkook's entrance was shiny and wet from Jin's earlier tongue escapades, but he knew it might still not be enough, so he reached into his hoody and pulled out the lube.
"Umm just in case." he shyly looked towards Jin who smiled affectionately and took the bottle from him. He squirted a generous amount over his hard cock and positioned himself against Jungkook's entrance. Jin pushed in slowly, allowing Jungkook time to adjust around his large size. He pulled out and
pushed back in again even slower this time, inch by inch stretching him out, making Jungkook feel so full he felt as though the room was spinning.
Jungkook was speechless, he looked up at the exquisite man above him and decided he must have slipped on the wet kitchen floor, died and gone to heaven. He was being fucked by an angel with the biggest cock humanly possible. Trembling, shaky sobs left his chapped lips as the man thrust into him long and slow. Jungkook pushed down onto Jin to meet his thrusts hoping that the man would speed up a little, but Jin just grabbed onto his hips and held him down into place. He was truly at Jin's mercy.
The two men were a sweaty, panting mess. The sound of their skin slapping against each other ricocheted around the dining room. Jin lifted Jungkook's right leg and hooked his foot over his shoulder. A bolt of heat shocked Jungkook's insides as Jin's cock hit his prostate over and over again with every thrust.
"Oohh fuck, I'm gonna come." he cried out.
Jin picked up the pace as his large hand curled around Jungkook's swollen cock, pumping him in time with his own thrusts. Jungkook's sensations were heightened the minute that tough-skinned fingers were being drawn up and down his length. He felt his balls tightening and knew that just a few more thrusts would be all it would take to reach his release. He closed his eyes tightly and let out a drawn-out needy moan as his cock pulsated in Jin's hand, spurts of his hot cum landing on his stomach and all over Jin's tight grip. Jin stopped his movement and allowed the younger man to come down from his high before he started to thrust even harder inside Jungkook's tight ass.
Jungkook was oversensitive, his ass tightening with every twitch of Jin's cock inside of him. Jin didn't hold back though, thrusting hard and deep inside of him.
"Ahhh fuck, you feel so fucking good, so tight on my cock." Jin grunts between thrusts.
Jungkook's whines were stirring him on towards his own release. Jin grits his teeth and sweat drips down his forehead as he finally comes inside Jungkook's tight hole. He is absolutely spent and leans down to kiss the blond. Their kiss is weak and slow, but incredibly sensual. Their sweaty forheads bump which causes a giggle from both men.
"Eww you're sweating on me.â Jungkook pouts.
"Wow, you're worried about that? I just came in your ass! Speaking of . . "
Jin reaches over Jungkook's head and grabs the butt plug, he slowly removes his sizable cock from the blonds ass and teases the plug around Jungkook's hole, watching as it flutters open and his cum start to freely drip out. He pushes the plug in easily, trapping his cum inside.
"Since you clearly wanted me inside you for a while now, you can enjoy my cum in your ass when I'm gone." he playfully winks at Jungkook.
The two men get dressed, casting each other looks of utter fondness. They walk back into the kitchen and grab their long abandoned bottles of water. Jungkook gulps his down, not realising just how thirsty he was. He forgot that good sex can wear your ass out. What a workout, why would anyone go to a gym when you could just fuck instead?
A noise from the foyer startles them both, it's the sound of the front door being opened and closed. Jin grabs his toolbox and looks at Jungkook nervously, the blond smiles sweetly at the plumber and whispers "Just follow my lead"
An older man with a full head of grey hair, deep wrinkles, glasses sitting atop of his wide nose and wearing an over sized suit ploddingly makes his way into the room.
"Oh honey, it's so nice to see you I thought you'd be at work all night?" Jungkook says as he kisses his husband on the cheek.
"Mm yes well, I got as much done as I could tonight. Did we have trouble with the plumbing again? Why is Mr Kim here . . dressed like that?"
"Yes sir, sorry I was at a dress up party and didn't have time to change. Your kitchen sink had a leak. It was an easy fix though, took only 10 minutes or so. I'll email through an invoice first thing on Monday morning.... Okay, I better go now." he tensely glances in Jungkook's direction.
"Let me walk you out." he smiles back sweetly.
When they reach the door Jungkook looks back to make sure he's not being watched by his doddering husband before he leans in and kisses Jin chastely on the cheek.
"We should do this again next weekend, maybe the pipes in the pool house will unexpectedly play up hmm?"
Jin flashes him a ravishing smile and winks at him as he exits the mansion. Jungkook watches Jin's enticing firm ass walk back to his car and feels the stirring of butterflies in his belly. He's starting to get feelings for a plumber with a terrible sense of humor but with a cock so large it should be illegal. He chuckles to himself as he closes the door, his entire night could be the storyline of some cheesy C grade porno film. But he can't wait to experience it all over again next weekend.

âYoongi cut it out.â You giggle as Yoongiâs lips ravage your neck, his hands sliding all along your body until they land on your ass, squeezing it roughly. Heâs had you pinned against the door to his office for the last five minutes, his hips pressing against you so you can feel just how hard he is, the feeling driving you insane with want.
âYou still havenât answered me.â He growls. âWhere were you this morning? I rolled over to say good morning only to find the bed empty.â He lightly nips at your collarbone.
âI told you.â You gasp. âI had to help Taehyung and his mom this morning.â
âIs Taehyung so important you couldnât say goodbye?â He whines.
âItâs the first full night of sleep youâve gotten in a week.â You chide, pushing on his chest to stop him for a moment. âSo yes. I didnât want to wake you.â
âNext time wake me.â He pouts. âI donât need sleep.â
You roll your eyes at him. âYes you do. Otherwise you get grumpy.â
âGrumpy?â He scoffs. âWhat am I? Five?â
âWhy do you think we havenât had sex all week?â You grumble, crossing your arms over your chest.Â
âNow whoâs grumpy?â
You open your mouth to retort, but before you can say anything, thereâs a knock on the door that youâre pressed against.
âWhat is it?â Yoongi barks, clearly upset at being interrupted.
âBoss? Um, weâve got some intel that a couple boys from Busan are at the south docks. Do you want us to send someone out?â
âShitâŚâ Yoongi sighs, resting his forehead against your shoulder. âHow many?â
âJust two or three.â You can tell from the voice now that itâs Namjoon.
âAlright. Get five ready, Iâll be out in a second.â
âGot it.â Namjoon states before you hear his footsteps disappearing.
âSorry baby.â Yoongi presses a kiss to your shoulder. âThis is going to have to wait a bit.â
âYoongi,â You grab him by the lapels of his jacket as he turns to leave, stopping him. âBe careful.â
He smiles and cups your cheek. âItâs just a check. Iâll be home before dinner, alright?â You nod and let him go, watching as he goes over to his desk and grabs his gun, hiding it in the holster under his jacket before walking back over to you and placing a kiss on your lips. âIâll see you soon.â
âSoon.â You nod. Stepping out of the way and watching Yoongi walk out the door and down the hallway, disappearing down the stairs. Soon. Itâs his promise, it has been in the month since you started sleeping together.
Since you and Yoongi are closer than ever, you canât help but worry every time he goes out on patrols or checks; with Busan encroaching farther into Daegu territory, it gets more and more dangerous every time he goes out. You donât like saying goodbye when he leaves; thereâs too much finality to the word; so he started promising to âsee you soonâ, letting you gain comfort in the thought that he promises to return to you, safe and sound.
You sigh as you lean against the door frame before heading over to Yoongiâs desk and grabbing your bag off his chair where he threw it as soon as you walked in the door. You canât lie, the lack of intimacy in the last week or so has gotten to you too; having become accustomed to sleeping with Yoongi three or four times a week minimum, the lengthy absence is driving you mad with an unquenchable thirst, an overwhelming desire to be touched, but because Busan is trying harder to creep in, Yoongi is out more, sleeping less, and hardly around the house or his office. You miss him.Â
You close the door to Yoongiâs office behind you and lock it as a familiar face pops itâs head around the corner of the stairs.Â
âY/N! Just who I was looking for.â
âTae, you saw me this morning.â You remind him as you walk toward him.Â
âI know.â He nods. âBut I have news I didnât have this morning.â
âYou can tell me on the way to the car. I have to get home and start dinner.â
Taehyung sighs. âDoll, you know heâs probably not going to be home in time. I just saw them all leave, seemed pretty serious.â
You shake your head as you reach the bottom of the stairs and head over to the bar, checking sales as Taehyung comes up behind you. âHe promised me it was just a check.â
âSo were the last threeâŚâ Taehyung reminds you, making your heart sink in your chest.
âTaehyung.â You growl, alerting him to stop before he pisses you off. You hate to admit it, but heâs right. It always turns into something bigger, more urgent.
âAlright alright fine. This isnât about you anyway, itâs about me.â He huffs crossing his arms as you say goodnight to the staff and make your way through the kitchen and out the back door.Â
âWhat is it Tae?â
âIâd like to formally invite you and Yoongi out to dinner tomorrow night.â
Your brow furrows in confusion. âDid I forget something? Itâs not December, so it canât be your birthday.â Taehyung shakes his head, a wide grin scrunching up his face. He looks like heâs about to burst. âDo I have to guess?â
âI want you guys to meet my new boyfriend!â Taehyung squeals.
âNew- Oh my god!â You squeak, clapping your hands in excitement. âWhat the fuck, why didnât you tell me this morning?â You ask, smacking him on the arm.Â
âI wanted to make sure it was okay with him! Weâve only been together for a month or so, but I asked him this afternoon if it was okay to tell you and he said he wanted to meet you!â
âAw Tae!â You grab him and pull him into a tight hug. âIâm so happy for you. Of course weâll have dinner with you. Why donât the two of you come over to our place?â You pull back and see Taehyungâs eyes sparkling. You havenât seen him this happy in a long time.
âYouâre the best doll. Wanna say⌠Seven?â
âSeven sounds perfect.â You smile back at him.
âAlright, um⌠Do you want some company tonight?â Taehyung asks, worry written on his face as he looks at you.
You canât help but smile at him. âWhy not? The least you can do is distract me.â You state, unlocking the car. âHop in.â
Taehyung grins widely as you both jump into your car before you pull out of the parking lot and out onto the street making the drive back to your apartment. When you arrive, you shut the car off and you both get out, making your way up the walk, into the building, and up to your apartment.Â
âIâm going to go change, do you want to see what we have in the fridge?â You ask, walking over to Yoongiâs room.
âIâm on it!â Taehyung cheers as you disappear into the room.
You change into a pair of shorts and one of Yoongiâs old sweatshirts that he never wears anymore. You donât think youâve seen him wear comfy clothes since you got married, just a lot of stuffy suits and dress clothes. You remember when you first met; all he wore were sweatshirts and jeans. You shrug as you grab a hair tie and pull your hair into a messy bun as you walk back out to the kitchen, seeing Taehyung has already turned on the stove and is chopping something on a cutting board. You decide to voice your observation to Taehyung as you flick on the tv for background noise.
âDo you ever notice that Yoongi never wears anything except suits and dress clothes?â
âIâm sure youâve seen him in less.â Taehyung smirks.
You smack his arm as you walk up to him and lean against the counter next to him. âIâm serious. I donât think I ever see him in just a t-shirt and jeans anymore. Honestly, I donât even know if he still owns jeansâŚâ
âOf course heâs always dressed up.â Taehyung laughs, handing you the knife in his hand. âHere, chop.â You move to stand where Taehyung was and start slicing up vegetables for him as he continues, moving to heat up a pan on the stove and turning on the rice cooker. âThink of his job doll. Do you think people would take him seriously in a t-shirt and jeans? Your dad taught him better than that. It comes with the title.â
âYeah, I guess youâre right.â You ponder the thought for a few moments as you continue chopping before changing the subject. âSo, tell me about this boyfriend.â
âYouâre going to meet him tomorrow.â Taehyung grins, a light blush dusting his cheeks.
âExcuse me. I need to know details!â You exclaim, grabbing the pork belly and laying it in the hot pan with a bit of oil. âWhere did you meet?â
âUncle Minâs party actually.â
âReally? Do I know him?â
âI donât think so. Heâs not in the family, I think he just happened to be there that night.â
You nod as you listen, adding the vegetables to their own pan. âSo whatâs his name?â
âJimin. Park Jimin.â Even though your back is toward Taehyung, you can hear the smile in his voice.
âAnd do I get to see a picture of the mysterious Jimin?â
âMm.â Taehyung searches his pockets for his phone, pulling it out once he locates it, and scrolls through his photos until he finds the one heâs looking for. He holds it up for you to see and you smile. Itâs a picture of Taehyung with his eyes closed, his nose pressed against the cheek of an attractive boy with plump lips and an adorable eye smile.
âAw, Tae you look so happy. Heâs cute too.â
âIsnât he?â
âSo tell me more about him.â
âUm⌠Heâs a few months older than me, but heâs a lot shorter. He likes to dance and is part of some contemporary group thing. His laugh sounds like an angelâs, heâs got deliciously thick thighs, ughâŚâ He trails off, taking the food off the stove and placing it on the plates you took out.
âAnd since I know youâd ask me this, whatâs he got between those thick thighs?â You tease.
âOh come on doll, itâs not like that.â He giggles.
âDonât lie to me in my own house Tae.â
âWell,â He blushes harder. âWe havenât gone all the way yet, but letâs just say itâs a monster and Iâm glad heâs a bottom.â
You canât help but laugh. âThick thighs donât lie.â
âIâm telling you, this thing is huge. I could barely get my mouth around it.â
âAnd thatâs an image I definitely didnât need.â You smack Taehyungâs chest, grabbing the plates and setting them on the table before walking over to the fridge to grab drinks. As you grab a bottle of wine, you hear the newswoman say âbreaking newsâ and canât help but tune your ears to listen.
âShots fired at the southern docks, leaving three dead.â
The bottle falls from your hand and crashes to the floor, shattering to pieces as you walk over to the tv and turn it up.
âPolice are currently investigating a shooting at Daeguâs southern docks that happened only moments ago. Our field reporter Woo Chisun is on the scene. Chisun?â
The video cuts to the on scene reporter as you feel Taehyung kneel down next to you and wrap his arm around your shoulders, holding you tight.
âThank you Hae Im. Police responded to a civilian 911 call stating that they heard shots fired at the southern docks. Witnesses say they heard a loud argument before at least ten shots were fired in quick succession, followed by the sound of tires squealing. Though the deceased have not yet been identified, we do know that there are at least three victims, and several blood trails that suggest one or more of the assailants may be wounded. With no leads on any suspects, we canât help but wonder; will Daegu sleep safely tonight?â
.
Yoongi steps out of the car and pulls out his gun to check the rounds in his magazine before clicking it back into place. "So how many are supposed to be here?" He asks.
"Just three, boss."
"Alright." Yoongi stops and turns to face the group. "Joon, Big Kim, I want you on the left. Ji Ho, Dad, on the right. Jin, you're with me. Let's get some eyes on them, see what they're up to first. Then we'll go in and get them off of our turf."
"Hell yeah."
"Let's do it."
The rest of the men voice their agreement. "Alright. Remember, keep it quiet, keep it low, you know the signal. Let's go."
They split up and head down separately through the maze of cargo containers, Jin following closely behind Yoongi as they sneak along the path, ducking around corners to check for intruders. They finally make it up to the marina, not having seen anyone else so far. Yoongi turns to Jin, but before he can signal to him, he hears a sudden commotion and then the sound of gunshots.
"Yoongi!"
That sounded like Namjoon. Shit. Yoongi turns the corner to investigate and sees the cause, a piece of shit with a gun, aiming to his right where Namjoon and Big Kim are located.
"These mother fuckers." Yoongi grunts, aiming his sights, and then pulling the trigger, quickly incapacitating the Busan gunner, but mere seconds after Yoongi pulls the trigger he feels an unbearable pain in his side. "Ah, fuck!" Yoongi clutches his abdomen as he leans against the cargo container.
"Boss!" Seokjin yells, immediately taking out the gunner on top of the container that shot Yoongi. "Shit, hang in there Yoongi." He crouches down beside Yoongi. "We've got one out of the nest!" Seokjin yells to no one in particular. There are a few more gunshots before everything goes quiet.
"Seokjin?" Someone calls.
"Over here!" Seokjin responds. It's a few seconds before Min rounds the corner.
"Shit. Yoongi." Min crouches down beside his son. "We've gotta get out of here, this place will be crawling with cops in a few minutes. where were you hit?" He turns to Yoongi.
Yoongi reveals his bloody abdomen, wincing. "H-here."
"That looks bad." Namjoon states, leaning over his brother's shoulder.
"Namjoon, call the hospital; Seokjin, get the car; Kim, help me get him."
Big Kim and Min both scoop up Yoongi, but as they get him to his feet , Yoongi collapses.
"Yoongi!"
.
âY/N, breathe.â You let out the shaky breath you didnât realize you were holding as tears fall from your eyes. âLet me call and see whatâs going on. Stay here.â
You canât move, you can hardly force your lungs to keep breathing. Your mind is blank and whirring with static until it lands on one singular thought: Yoongi. You lunge for the coffee table where you left your phone earlier and immediately press his name. It rings. It rings forever until you get his answering machine. You hang up and try again, and again, and again to no avail. You donât realize it but youâre quietly chanting Yoongiâs name, over and over to yourself as you try to reach him.
âShitâŚâ You hear Taehyung next to you. âI⌠I canât get a hold of anyone.â
âYoongi⌠Yoongi⌠Yoongi⌠YoongiâŚâ You mumble to yourself, dialing and redialing his number, getting his voicemail every time until Taehyung squats next to you and grabs your shoulders.
âDoll, look at me.â You ignore him, trying to grab your phone which he knocked out of your hand. âY/N⌠Y/N!â Taehyung snaps, shaking you.
âI canât- I canât go through this again Tae. I canât do this again. I canât lose him too. I canât⌠I canât lose him!!â You burst, tears now flooding your vision as Taehyung pulls you flush against his chest.Â
âItâs not him. Itâs not, it canât be. Heâs okay Y/N-ah, heâs going to be okay. I promise.â
âI canât lose him tooâŚâ You whimper, hyperventilating as Taehyung holds you close. The two of you stay like this for what feels like mere seconds, but itâs been an hour, and you still havenât heard anything, not even from the tv. You cry into Taehyungâs chest as he shushes and attempts to soothe you until you hear a buzzing. Taehyungâs phone. He grabs it off the couch and answers it.
âHello? Yeah Iâm with her⌠Got it. Weâll be there in ten.â He hangs up and stands, lifting you to your feet and you wince, falling back on the couch, looking down at your feet to see them all cut up and bloodied from the shattered wine bottle. Taehyung shoves his phone in his pocket and then lifts you up bridal style, grabbing your keys and then carrying you out the door and down to your car. He places you in the passenger seat before shutting the door and then climbing into the driverâs seat, quickly pulling out of the parking lot and speeding towards the center of town.
You want to ask whatâs going on, but you canât speak. You can only sniffle. Taehyung wouldnât answer anyway, heâs too focused on driving, and in a matter of minutes you arrive at your destination. The hospital.
He parks around back, getting out and picking you back up, carrying you in the ambulance entrance where Big Kim is waiting for you.
âIs she okay?â He asks when he sees youâre being carried.Â
âSheâs got glass in her feet and sheâs pretty shaken. She might be in shock. Where is he?â
âCome with me.â Big Kim takes you out of Taehyungâs arms and carries you over to a back elevator with Taehyung close behind. You all get in and it takes you up to the third floor where he walks you down a long empty hallway to the back wing of the hospital where all of the private rooms are located. He brings you into room 337, the same room where your father died, and you see Yoongi lying in a hospital bed, unconscious, covered in bruises and bandages. âHe just got out of surgery.â Big Kim states, placing you in the chair next to Yoongiâs bed.Â
âWhat happened?â You ask, scooting as close as you can to Yoongi and grabbing hold of his hand.
âBusan.â Uncle Minâs voice comes into the room. âWe were ambushed at the docks. It was all a set up.â He walks over to you and puts a hand on your shoulder as he squats down in front of you. âBreathe joka, heâs going to be okay.â He nods, looking over at Big Kim he adds, âGo find a nurse for me,â before turning back to you. âYoongi took a bad hit, because something blew his cover, but it missed all of his major organs and muscles, heâs going to make a full recovery.â A weight seems to lift off your shoulders at Minâs words. âAnd except for Yoongi, no one got hit.â
Just then, a familiar face walks into the room, itâs Hye Soo. âY/N, I was wondering when youâd get here.â She greets you warmly.
âHye Soo, I think our girl here might be in shock, and her feet are cut up pretty badly, would you mind taking a look?â Min asks.
âOf course.â Hye Soo grabs some supplies from the cabinet in the room before walking over to you. She does a basic check on you; blood pressure, pulse, oxygen level; before putting an IV in your arm and hooking you up to a bag of fluids as well as injecting a relaxant into your IV before moving onto your feet; cleaning them, removing the glass shards, and then bandaging them. She talks to Min the entire time, knowing that the only thing youâre focused on right now is Yoongi.
Heâs so still, so calm, heâs never this motionless in his sleep, so they must have him on some heavy sedatives. You bring his hand up to your mouth and close your eyes, placing a kiss against his fingers. After a few minutes you and Hye Soo are the only ones left in the room as she finishes bandaging you up.Â
âI didnât want you to get hurt. Why does everyone close to me always get hurtâŚ?â You whisper against Yoongi's hand.Â
âDonât blame yourself.â Hye Soo states as she stands. âYoongi chose this life. He knew what was at stake. He knows the risks and heâs willing to take them. Itâs not your fault. Besides, heâll be up soon. Itâs mostly artificial.â You only nod to show you heard her before she pats you on the head and leaves you alone with Yoongi.
You know that. You know heâs going to wake up. You understand what sheâs trying to say, but the more you sit here, the more you realize that Taehyung and Yoongi are the only things in the world that you have left; and to see either one of them hurt, artificial or not, shatters you into pieces.
Silent tears slip down your cheeks as you clutch Yoongiâs hand between both of yours, your forehead pressed against your hands as you mumble to him. âI never wanted you to get hurt⌠Iâm so sorry⌠It should be meâŚâ
âY... Y/NâŚâ Yoongi mumbles, causing your head to bolt upright. âY/N-ahâŚ?â His eyes flutter open and slowly focus on you.
âYoongiâŚâ You gasp, elated beyond words at the sight of his beautiful brown eyes staring back at you.Â
The corners of his mouth turn up in the smallest smile as he sighs deeply. âDid I miss dinner?â
A choked laugh comes from your throat as you release his hand and wipe your tears away. âJust by a few hours.â
âDamn. I was really looking forward to it too.â He grimaces as he attempts to sit up, but itâs obviously too painful for him.Â
âYoongi-â
âIâm alright.â He states, laying back down against the pillows before he reaches out to take hold of your hand, squeezing it tightly. âWhy the tears?â He asks, concern in his eyes.
You reach your unoccupied hand up to your cheeks to feel the wetness of tears on your cheeks again. You hadnât even realized you were doing it. âIâm just happy youâre okay.â You mumble, wiping the tears away.
âIâm not going anywhere jagiya.â Yoongi whispers. Your heart races at the pet name and youâre thankful Yoongiâs eyes are shut again so he canât see the hot blush on your cheeks. âTheyâre going to have to try harder than that.â He smirks.
.
Three days later, Yoongi is allowed to return home on the condition that he takes the rest of the week off to rest and heal and Yoongi agreed; although, you believe he wouldâve said anything to get out of the hospital.
You and Taehyung help Yoongi up to the apartment before Taehyung says goodnight to go on a date with Jimin. You wave goodbye and shut the door, helping Yoongi over to the couch to get him settled before walking over to the kitchen to get his medications sorted out for the next few days. Yoongiâs father agreed to watch over things until Yoongi gets back on his feet, so the two of you can relax for a few days until Yoongi gets restless, which you know he will; he canât stay away from work for too long.
âY/N-ah?â Yoongi calls to you, interrupting your thoughts.
âHm?â You turn to face him to see him watching you intently.
âCan you help me up so I can take a shower? I need to wash off this hospital funk.â
âO-oh, sure.â You nod, putting down the last bottle of medicine before walking over to him and helping him to his feet. He can walk on his own well enough, itâs the getting up and sitting down part that heâs not great at because it still hurts his abdomen. With one arm around his waist, you walk him into his room and then into the bathroom and start the shower, turning to see him standing there a bit awkwardly.
âWould you umâŚâ His cheeks turn pink as he speaks. âCan you- I still canât lift my arms well⌠Would you mind?â He tugs at his clothes.
âRight, of course.â You giggle as you walk over to him, wondering why heâs suddenly so shy. You very carefully lift Yoongiâs shirt up off his body and deposit it on the floor, but when you go to reach for his belt, you stop, coming face to face with the sight of his injury for the first time.
You canât help but stare; the way his beautiful pale skin is puckered and pink around the stitches, still tender by the way his abdomen flexes as you brush your thumb against his hip, not even touching the wound.
âItâs hideous.â Yoongi states, catching sight of himself in the mirror and walking closer to inspect.
You shake your head, walking up behind him and placing your hands on his shoulders. âItâs you.â He smiles at your words in the reflection and the two of you stand like that for a moment before you shake your head again. âCome on, youâre wasting hot water.â You scold as he turns to face you. You grab his belt again and move to undo it when he stops your hands, grabbing your face and pulling you towards him for a soft kiss.Â
âI think I can take it from here.â He mumbles against your lips, making you giggle.Â
âRight, I forgot. âNo unnecessary exerciseâ.â You quote the doctorâs words. âIâll go start dinner. Yell if you need me, yeah?â
âOf course.â Yoongi kisses you once more before letting you go, watching you walk out of the bathroom and shut the door behind you. Yoongiâs doctor tried very politely to tell you no sex until Yoongi was better, but didnât want to say it in front of Yoongiâs mother, so he just said âno unnecessary exerciseâ and then winked as if your mother-in-law was clueless.
You head back to the kitchen and take one of your own prescribed pain medications for your feet; while the scrapes have mostly healed, theyâre still a bit tender to walk on; and then you start dinner. You donât make anything special, just some jjapaguri with steak; youâre honestly too tired to do anything else. Even though you havenât been doing much at the hospital, just being there has taken so much energy out of you.
Just as youâre filling two bowls up with the delicious noodles and meat, you hear footsteps coming out of Yoongiâs room. Perfect timing. You grab the bowls and some chopsticks and meet Yoongi in front of the couch, placing the bowls on the coffee table before helping him sit down. He nods gratefully as he accepts the help and then the warm dinner you hold out to him before you grab your own bowl and take your normal seat on the other side of the loveseat. You flick the tv on and the two of you sit in silence as you watch reruns of an old game show.
As you slurp up your dinner, you canât help but feel an awkwardness in the air. Since sex is off the table, itâs as though the two of you are back to square one; two strangers stuck in an arranged marriage, neither one knowing how to act around the other. You thought you were making progress with Yoongi, but maybe you really werenât? Was sex actually making it harder for you to get closer to him? Have you even had an actual conversation since the two of you started fucking? Is sex all he wanted? Was that the whole reason he tried to get close to you? Maybe he actually cares⌠Are you overthinking it?
You donât realize how far youâve zoned out until Yoongi gently squeezes your arm, snapping you back to the present.
âYou alright?â He asks.
âY-yeah.â You nod, shrugging him off. âJust⌠thinking about some stuff.â
Yoongi seems concerned, but he doesnât press the matter. âIâm here if you want to talk.â He assures you. You nod and go back to your noodles.Â
When youâre both finished eating, you take your dishes to the kitchen and clean up after yourself before heading back over to the couch. Yoongi pats the cushion closest to him and you canât help but smile, taking a seat on his good side as he wraps his arm around your shoulder, pulling you close. After a few moments you hear him inhale deeply and look up to see what heâs doing.
âYou smell good.â He shrugs.Â
âThanks? I showered this morning.â
âI missed the way you smell. Smells so much better than hospital.â
âMost things smell better than the hospital." You giggle when he inhales again.
"Just let me enjoy this please?" He asks. You simply nod as Yoongi buries his nose in your hair, smiling against you as he does.
.
It's been four days since Yoongi came home from the hospital, and just as you expected, he's as restless as ever. He's constantly pacing around the apartment on the phone with various people from work who all tell him the same thing: "Get some rest boss". The only person who updates him is his father, and even Min is tired of Yoongi's phone calls , frequently ending them with "Go relax" even though he knows Yoongi will call him again in an hour.
The last time Yoongi called him, he only said "Go spend time with your wife" before immediately hanging up. So here you are, trying to watch a movie while tension radiates off Yoongi in waves. You've tried everything to calm him down; board games, video games, movies, relaxing baths, cooking , baking; but so far, nothing has worked. He's just so unbelievably wound up and you feel like there's nothing you can do.
You sigh as you get up , walking over to the kitchen to get a bottle of water from the fridge.
"Yoongi, do you want anything?" You ask as you hold the fridge door open.
"I want to go back to work."
"I meant to drink." You grumble.
"No."
You shut the door, albeit, a bit aggressively, before walking back over to the couch and flopping yourself down on it. "So how much longer are you going to be an asshole? Because I can just leave if you want."
Yoongi sighs this time, grabbing your arm. "Don't go. I'm sorry. I'm just... I'm so frustrated."
"No kidding." You scoff, unintentionally reverting Yoongi back into irritated silence. You turn to face him. "Do you want to talk about it?"
"I should be in Busan right now, fucking up those pricks for what they did!"
"So you can get shot again? I don't think so."
"Then what am I supposed to do? Let it go?"
"No." You shake your head. "You make a plan. Before you go in there guns blazing and make a mistake. You need a plan."
"A plan..." Yoongi ponders this.
You nod. "They set you up, so you figure out how to give it right back to them. Like you always do."
"What do you suggest?" Yoongi inquires.
You think for a moment. "How about a seizure?" Yoongi's eyebrows quirk up in obvious interest, asking you to continue. "We know drugs are their main export, so we get in there and we either take it and dump it, or we make it unusable. I remember abeoji talking about when he did it once. It pissed them off, but they were quiet for a long time so they could rebuild their stock and pay off their debts."
"Y/N-ah... You're a genius." Yoongi smiles for the first time in days. "But how do we get information?" He rubs his chin in thought.
"We send someone in."
Yoongi's eyes snap back up to meet yours. "What?" He asks in disbelief.
"We have to infiltrate, to get someone in there to give us information. It's the only way."
"Unfortunately, I think you're right." Yoongi agrees. "I'll make some calls-"
"Ah!" You push Yoongi back against the couch when he tries to get up. "You go back to work in two days. It can wait." You chide.
"Y/N, I-"
"No." You shake your head. "Just think about it for now. Get it figured out in your head first, then you can start organizing it when you get to work Tuesday."
Yoongi smirks. "You know you're just like him."
Yoongi's comment catches you off guard. "W-What?"
"Especially when you're scolding me. You have the same tone." He chuckles softly, squeezing your side as he scoots closer and puts his arm around your waist. "I'm sorry for being unbearable this week." He mumbles, pressing a kiss to your cheek.
"Unbearable is putting it lightly." You tease.
"Mm." Another kiss. "And yet you kept me around."
"I couldn't just throw you out. You're injured. Which reminds me, if you ever get shot again? I'll shoot you."
Yoongi sighs with a soft laugh as he rests his forehead against your temple. "What I wouldn't give to be able to actually move again."
"You don't need to move, you've been pushing it as is." You scold once more. Suddenly Yoongi tilts your face toward him and this time, places a kiss on your lips, making you giggle. "What was that?"
"Every time you scold me I'm going to kiss you to make you stop."
"Oh is that so?" You ask. He nods. "Well it's true, you need to re-" A kiss. "It's the doctor's orders-" Another. "At least until you get your stitches-" One more, except this time his lips don't leave you, they stay pressed against yours.
It isn't long after that he tilts his head, deepening the kiss. After a few more moments, his tongue flicks out against your lips, but you hesitate.Â
âYoongi, your doctor said-â
âI donât care.â His lips find yours again and this time you give in.
Having not done anything for two weeks makes you feel a bit more desperate than usual, and you quickly become a bit aggressive, pushing back at his tongue with your own as you lace your hands in his hair and tug on it.
"Ah~" He whimpers. "Not so hard." He smirks at you before leaning forward a bit to place a hot kiss against your jaw.
"Mm. My bad." You tug softer this time.
"Did someone miss me?" He growls in your ear.
"You have no idea."
Yoongi chuckles at this before he pushes you back and tries to climb on top of you, but then he hisses in pain. "Aish..."
"Are you alright?"
Yoongi grimaces as he leans back against the couch. "Yeah, I'm okay." He sighs. "Just didn't think it would hurt that much. I guess..." Another sigh. "Fuck, I'm sorry. I don't think-"
"Oh no, hold that thought." You stop him before he can turn you down and climb into his lap. He stares up at you in awe as his hands find your hips and then reach down to squeeze your ass.
"This could work. You look good like this baby." He grabs your shirt and pulls it off over your head to reveal that you went without a bra today. "Even better. Goddamn you are sexy."
"Thanks, but if you don't fuck me in the next thirty seconds, I'm gonna be sexy and angry." You state, pulling his sweatpants down his hips.
"Anything for you jagiya." He unties the string on your shorts and as you stand up he tugs them and your underwear off before slipping out of his own boxers and then tugging you back into his lap where he immediately slips two fingers inside you.
"Ah, Yoongi~" You gasp, gripping his shoulders.
"Gotta get you ready for me baby. It's been a while."
"Yoongi please just fuck me I can't wait any longer."
Yoongi grabs your thighs and pulls you close before rubbing his length against your entrance. "Whenever you're ready." He presses against you and you quickly sink down on to him with a satisfied groan.
"Fuck, hnng Yoongi." You dig your fingernails into his shoulders.
"Jesus you're tight." He hisses through his teeth.
Even though it's still a bit much, you start moving, desperate for the feeling of him moving inside you. He feels amazing, so amazing. You throw your head back, already lost in the pleasure between your thighs.
"God you're beautiful." Yoongi mumbles, running his hand up your side.
"Y-Yoongi..." You blush as his hands move to your breasts, squeezing them enough to make you even needier. You bounce faster in his lap, but even though you've always been confident in yourself, his comment makes you want to cover yourself up, but makes your core tighten around him at the same time.
"So fucking beautiful." Yoongi smacks your ass. You move your arms to try and cover yourself, but Yoongi stops you. "Don't you dare cover yourself." He growls, moving your arms out of the way. "I want to see all of you like this."
Yoongi holds your wrists as he watches you fuck yourself on his length, mesmerized by the sight. The look in his eyes makes you feel hot, and it isn't long before you feel your high approaching.
"You've never looked this sexy baby."
"Yoongi I-I..."
"Fuck I'm so close." Yoongi moans. "Go harder for me." He commands. You obey, smacking your hips against him harder as he lets go of one of yours wrists and brings his hand down to play with your clit. "So fucking beautiful jagi , I love you."
"Ah~!" Your orgasm slams into you as your hips falter, your hands gripping Yoongi's shoulders again as pleasure shoots through your nerves. The tightening caused by your orgasm sends Yoongi into his own high , not giving him time to pull out before he fills you with his hot release.
The two of you sit for a long time, trying to catch your breath as your highs recede. You sit up, peeling your sweaty, sticky chest off of Yoongi's as both of you shiver from the overstimulation it causes. As your brain regains cognizant function once more, you realize something.
"Wait, what did you say?"

Kobik - Chapter VIII
BuckyxReader
Fluff/Angst
Chapter plot: The aftermath of the explosion brings up questions of what comes next with you and Bucky's future with Kobik will be.
Masterlist
âAre you sure you guys gonna be okay?â
It had been a few hours since you had gotten back home. Even though you protested Kobik using her powers so that she could conserve energy, she conjured up a small bed in your office for her to sleep in and was now thank goodness dead asleep.
After dealing with some organization called âSWORDâ that Bucky and Sam were reporting to on a video call, Bucky managed to convince them that he could handle the rest when it came to the aftermath of this ordeal. At least when it came to keeping Kobik until further notice. But he wasnât stupid enough to think that they werenât most likely keeping close eyes on you guys.
âYou know you can stay the night here, Sam,â you insisted.
Bucky held a smirk on his face.
âHe would, but Samâs got a date in Louisiana inâŚ18 hours?â Bucky dramatically checked his watch and winked at Sam.
âOkay, Cap,â you nodded impressed going in to give him a big hug goodbye.
âBy the way,â he said after hugging you.
âI havenât had a chance to say congratulations.â
Bucky smiled and wrapped an arm around you tightly.
âBut the world is in trouble if this kid is anything like either one of you,â he shuddered pointing a finger at the both of you.
Bucky punched him on the arm.
âIâll see you soon, okay?â
âHopefully not too soon,â Sam quipped.
âAnd say goodbye to the little fireball for me when she wakes up. Iâm going to miss her.â
A sudden wave of sadness hit you because of his words.
Missing her. Something that you dreaded thinking about. In the few days that you had gotten to know her, you came to love her. You wanted to protect her at all costs from anyone. But now, it seemed like one of her biggest threats was herself. How were you supposed to protect her fromâŚher?
The only solution that you could think of is keeping her away from anything or anyone who could threaten her. Anything that could make her feel sad, angry, or unsafe. To shield her from the world. If she was in a warm, loving environment like Bucky said, she would be fine. She could live a normal life. She could live a life where maybe sheâd feel content enough to grow, or stay the innocent little 4-year-old if she pleased. Maybe that environment could be with youâŚ
Being stuck in your thoughts about this made you not even realize that Bucky had walked Sam outside, probably to talk in private about what came next.
What would come next?
âYou need sleep,â Bucky sighed when he walked back into the apartment.
But you didnât want to sleep. You wanted answers. And he knew that by the look in your eyes.
âY/N, we can talk about this tomorrow.â
His eyes looked tired, but you at least needed his attention for a few more minutes.
âNo, I want to know now,â you stated.
âPlease, letâs justââ
âYou donât have to give me an hour-long discourse about it, but I just want to know whatâs going to happen to her in the next few days. Is she going to be interrogated like a criminal? Put in a cell to be experimented on?â
He hesitated for a moment but sighed lightly placing a hand on your back walking you over to the couch.
âWeâre not sure yet,â he said.
âBut thereâs no way that anything like that is going to happen. Do you really think that I would allow it?â
You shrugged. What if he just wouldnât have a choice in the matter?
âRight now all we have to focus on is the fact that SWORD will be questioning Kobik at one of the New York branches tomorrow. Iâll be taking her. But I wonât leave her side.â
âIâm coming too,â you stated.
âY/N theyâll never let you in. I barely have clearance to go in there myself.â
You gritted your teeth and flared your nostrils in protest, but couldnât find a way to defy his logic.
âWhat do they even do anyway? Are they like a new SHIELD or something?â
Bucky paused to think about it, and then shook his head.
âTheyâreâŚThey specialize more in for the lack of a better term âextraterrestrial anomaliesâ.â
âOkay, but sheâs not an alien,â you argued.
He shot you that âyou know damn well what I meanâ look.
âAnyway,â he continued.
âWhen they first approached me not long after I found out about her, I didnât trust them at all. But after hearing them talk about their history good and bad, and maybe making both legal and illegal research on them I trust themâŚcautiously.â
You snorted. Classic Bucky. But you couldnât lie, it was one of the big reasons why you loved and trusted him so much.
âIâll make sure that sheâs okay. And then Iâll bring her straight home.â
Home.
âIs this where she is now?â you asked hopefully.
âHome?â
He hesitated. And not in a good way.
âI donât know,â he answered solemnly.
âBucky, we love her. And I think she loves us. We could be good for herâŚShe might be a good big sisterâŚâ
One side of his face curled into a soft but solemn smile. One that shifted into adoration the longer he looked at you.
He scooted closer to you and carefully placed his hand on your belly and rested his head on your shoulder.
âOur kid would be lucky to have her in their life,â he stated.
âButâŚâ
âBut?â you questioned.
He exhaled.
âYou know thatâs riskyâŚNot just for the kid, but she is a risk to herself.â
You frowned.
âY/N she needs help. We both know it. She needs the kind of help that we canât give her by acting like sheâs a normal child. She needs room to grow into her powers and figure out how not to end up in incidents likeâŚLike tonight.â
Again, you wanted to protest. You wanted to find a good counterargument. But a wave of exhaustion swept over you, and you just couldnât.
âCome on,â Bucky whispered and picked you up taking you to bed like a child. This you didnât protest to. Being in his arms after having the day that you had was so comfortable. Even if one of his arms was made of vibranium. You didnât even make it to bed before falling asleep.
âŚ
Before Bucky and Kobik walked through the door you had a stack of grilled cheese sandwiches set up on the counter. It was one of Kobikâs favorite things to eat for lunch.
âY/N!â she exclaimed running over to you to give you the biggest hug.
You hadnât seen her since the previous night when she was exhausted and in distress. And although they had left at almost noon, you were still heavily asleep by the time they left.
âGuess what I made?â
She looked up at the counter and beamed.
âCan I have one?â
You gave her a sarcastic frown and stuck your nose in the air like a snooty queen.
âNo. Theyâre only for me. You can just watch me eat them.â
She giggled. It felt so good to hear her laugh like that again. And you were glad that she didnât seem completely traumatized from having to rehash all of the events from last night. Or rather even just the past week.
You grabbed a plate and handed one to her and told her to sit on the couch and watch tv. She happily complied which left time for you and Bucky to talk about what was going on.
Bucky walked up to you and kissed you on your forehead.
âGlad to see you up.â
âGlad to see the both of you back.â
The sound of the Sponge-Bob theme song blasted in the living room. She really loved that show.
âI see you havenât given her up yet,â you remarked crossing your arms.
He looked at you guiltily. So you placed a hand on his arm to let him know that it was okay.
Over the next ten minutes, Bucky explained to you how they had taken over the problem with whoever was trying to kidnap Kobik. Unfortunately, the situation was too big and too dire for them to have clearance to disclose what it was and why they wanted and needed Kobik. But it was safe to say that for now, she was safe.
âWhat about the parking lot?â you asked.
âI mean she fixed the apartment back to how it was, she couldââ
Bucky shook his head.
âThat would raise way too many questions. Ones we donât want the world to have even more questions about. We just have to leave it be. Trust meâŚKobik wasnât thrilled about those orders from SWORD.â
You smiled.
âButâŚummâŚâ
You knew that you werenât going to like what was going to come next.
He leads you to your room and sat you down on the bed.
âShe really isnât staying with us is she,â you sighed.
You took in a deep breath and tried not to cry. So this was really happening.
âThereâs umâŚThereâs a couple. Theyâre scientists that specialize and are top in their field in cosmic energy. And theyâre really interested in her case.â
âAs for what?â you questioned.
âA little lab rat? To live the same kind of life that she did in a lab like the one in Europe to study her?â
âShe was happy there, Y/N. And they never treated her like a lab rat.â
âAnd she can be happy here, James,â you argued.
âDespite your argument about whether her old home wasnât good enough, this is going to be different,â he reassured.
âHow so?â
He took your hand in his.
âTheyâre a couple. Theyâve wanted a child for a long time but it just never happened for them. When they heard about Kobik and saw her they were thrilled at the prospect of being able to keep her with them. They can help her the way that we canât. But they can also give her the stability that we could.â
A pang of jealousy hit you. You wanted to be that for her. You wanted to be everything that they could be. But you werenât. And you hated facing that.
âSo you spoke to them?â you choked.
âHow do you know that they can be trusted?â
Bucky used his hand to wipe away the stray tear that fell down your cheek.
âI met them.â
He smiled that specific smile that always reassured you that things were going to be okay.
âTheyâre lovely, Y/N. I think youâd really like them. In fact, Kobik is going to meet them tomorrow. And they want you to come.â
Good because you wouldnât have had it any other way.
âThe best part is that they only live an hour away. She can come to see us whenever she wants.â
You lit up and nearly burst into tears.
âReally?â
He nodded.
âSee? She can still be a big sisterâŚBut like a sister permanently away at boarding school.â
You rolled your eyes. But you were so relieved that she wasnât going to be far.
âSheâs going to be okay. Weâre all going to be okay.â
âY/N? Is everything okay?â Kobik asked walking into the room.
Your heart felt warm again at the sight of her innocent features. No longer in terrible distress, but just like an innocent little girl again. And you realized that maybe she might have felt that way because she had hope. Hope that she wouldnât be the cause of another disaster like the parking lot, or even worse.
âHey Kobi,â you chimed.
âNew nickname?â Bucky asked.
You shrugged.
Kobik jumped up on the bed and sat against you laying her head on your shoulder.
âKobik, do you know where weâre going tomorrow?â
She turned to you looking a little sad. But nodded.
âAm I leaving you already?â she pouted.
Bucky shook his head.
âThey want to get things ready for you first,â he stated.
âTomorrow weâre just going to meet them. You can see how you like them. And I think you will.â
âTheyâre going to help me with my powers, right?â
There was a hopeful look in her eyes. This told you everything that you needed to know. She really did need help. And she wanted it.
You put your arm around her and gave her a comforting squeeze.
âYeah, kiddo,â you said.
âBut you know what? Weâre going to be right here for you. And you can visit us any time youâd like.â
She smiled and leaned in to snuggle.
âSheâs lucky to have you,â she sighed.
You frowned.
She?
âWho?â
âHer,â she said matter matter-of-factly and then pointed at your flat belly.
You paused and turned to Bucky who carried the same confused expression as you.
âUhâŚWait did she say?â he asked.
âHow do you know that?â you questioned.
She shrugged.
âI felt her.â
You thought about when Kobik touched you and relived or rather felt your memories, including your emotions. But you didnât think that she could feel your baby. Or if she even knew about itâŚHerâŚ
âWell, Kobi,â you said softly, and still in complete shock.
âSheâs gonna need a big sister. One that can come visit her every once in a while. You think youâre up for the job?â
She nodded happily.
âI canât believe in 6 months Iâll be a big sister.â
Buckyâs eyes widened.
âIâm sorryâŚWhat?â he choked.
He narrowed his eyes at you.
âSix months? That meansââ
You gave him a guilty look. How could you not have noticed for all of this time?
You and Bucky just stared at each other some more before Kobik poked you.
âAre you guys gonna be okay?â she asked.
âAnd can I have another grilled cheese on the counter?â
You would laugh if this wasnât one of the most surreal and yet happiest moments in your life. But you still were at a loss for words.
Bucky intervened before you could answer.
âHow about you both get food, and Iâll call your doctor since apparently, you have an aversion to it.â
You narrowed your eyes stuck your tongue at him and followed Kobik.
âDeal.â

I was sitting in one of the outside tables at a small coffee shop, paitiently waiting for him to show up. He wasn´t late or anything like that, I was the one that arrived earlier, from what Iâve heard he was extremely on point. That's why I wasn't surprised when he turned around the corner at 2:00 p.m. sharp. The friend who've had indicated him to me, did mentioned his incredible size and beauty, but man I still got caught off guard by it.
He's a fucking walking dream. Bulky type, extremely tall, piercing blue grayish eyes, shoulder lenght black hair that was tighly secured in a low ponytail, dark beard, incredibly defined arms and thick strong thighs. He was dressed approprietely, not too fancy but not too sloppy either, simple rolled up sleeves plain black dress shirt, perfectly fitting jeans and some casual discreet boots. He was breath taking! And I wasn't the only one who've noticed his incredible dominieering energy that seems to exudes from his body naturally.
His eyes scanned through the tables 'til his gaze found mine, he confidently approached were I was sitting.
"Y/N I presume?" He has a slight accent, but I can't pick up from where...
It took me a second to recover "Yes, that's me" I give him a shy smile
He smiles widely back at me, letting a beautiful pair of dimples on display "I'm Drew"
"Y/N" I shook the hand he offered me, frowning soon afterwards "But you already know that" I whisper
He chuckled lightly "Can I get you anything from inside?" He points towards the coffee shop
"No, I'm good! But thank you" I raise my latte cup
"Ok then, I'll be right back" He says as he entered to grab himself a drink
My nerves was stariting to get the best out of me, I was sweating profusely, I felt like my hair was a mess, my makeup too minimal, my clothes too simple, I hadn't sprayed enough perfume, was there something on my teeth? Do I smell bad? What if he thinks I'm ugly? Or too fat? Should I try to suck my belly in? Is that gonna work? I could already feel all of those old ghosts from the past calling for me.
"Penny for your thoughts?" He says already sitting in front of me
I startled a little "Oh sorry, I didn't notice you came back"
"Yeah... Is there something bothering ya?" He carefully searchs my face for something...but I'm not sure what...
"Just you know, deep in thoughts" I try to shake it off
"Right.. Are these thoughts any related as to how much you're feeling insecure with your own image because of me?" He asks
*Damn! Why is he so good at this?* I thought
I debated whether or not I should lie to him, but I figured he would find out if I did eventually so I didn't bother
"Kind of, yeah.." I vaguely say
"Why Y/N?"
"Because I mean, look at you! Who wouldn't feel insecure around you? You're a very good looking man and well.."
"And you're a very good looking woman, so what's the matter? There's something else" He starts to search for something again and I can feel his getting close to find it..
I feel like I'm going through a polygraph test and he won't stop until he finds the truth "Daddy issues" I bitterly laugh "For real and not just you know, as a joke" I whisper as I prepare myself for him to walk off at any minute.
After 5 long minutes of silence I raise my head to find him still just sitting there, looking at me.
"Are you not gonna like..leave?" I ask softly
"Why would I?" He asks in a soothing voice
"Because, I'm fucked up?"
"And who isn't?" He lightly chuckles
"I- I'm confused" I whisper
"Look Y/N, I'm a man, a real man not an immature little boy. I'm not going to walk off because a beautiful adult woman has some self esteem issues due some fucked up things an immature little boy self proclaimed man did to her" He didn't even blinked "I'm not here to make you feel bad about yourself, I'm here so you can see your true self darling, not a twisted blurred vision from somebody else" He squeezed my hand
"Would you like to do this another time?" He asks
"No, please I- I would like to do this now if that's ok" It was weird how comfortable he made me feel
"Of course darling, whatever you'd like" He softly brush his fingers on my cheek "Thank you Y/N, for being honest, trusting me and being so up front about something so personal and hurtful" He hold my hand on his own and press a light kiss on my knuckles
He left me so speechless I could only nod in response.
"Where do you want to begin then, love?" He asks
"I've never officially done this before so, I don't kno- Where are you from? I can hear a very light accent, but is so faint I can't pick up where it's from" The curiosity took the best out of me.
He laughs before saying "Scotland, love"
"Oh, cool" Was all I could say
We've talked about everything, cultural differences, work, hobbies, movies, tv series, books, travels, food...it was pretty clear that we matched, which I was glad. My heart skipped in my chest once I heard his next question
"Well, I think we both can agree that there's some chemistry between us, love. So I would love to do a test scene with you so we can see if this chemistry goes beyond the talking. Would you be interest in that?"
"Yeah, of course. I would love that" I smile softly
"Good. Let's negotiate a scene then shall we?" He says mirroring my smile
He unlocks his cellphone and begin to type something on it.
"Alright, let's start with a simple one. Are you into pain?"
"Yes"
"To what level? Light, moderate or hard?"
"Moderate"
"Soft limits?"
"Um... age play, floggers, nipple clamps, temperature play, pet play, orientation play, exhibitionism..I guess that's it"
"Hard limits?"
"Scat play, minors/ children, chemical play, race play, needle play, serious bodily injury, animals and fisting"
"Do you have any medical issues Y/N?"
"No"
"Do you take any type of prescripted medication?"
"Yeah, contraceptive pills"
"Do you have any addictions? Legal or illegal substances"
"I smoke cigarrettes, sporadically"
"What word would you like do use as our safewords?"
"I would like to keep the three basic colors please"
"Ok, and safe signs? For when your mouth is restained"
"I don't know.."
"What do you think about 1,2,3? 1 for green, 2 for yellow and 3 for red?" He asks
"That sounds good"
"What would you like as aftercare?"
"Um..maybe some cuddling? And some candy" I blush and he sweetly smiles
"Are you ok with the following: General bondage, spanking, sex toys, degradation, praise, breath play, trichophilia, edge play, fear play?"
"Yes, I'm ok with all"
"Would you like to have intercourse?"
I froze at that question
"Y/N, I asked if you would be interested in having intercourse?" He says softly
"I didn't knew that was an option" I whispered
"Generally it isnât, but like I said, you're a very beautiful woman and I would be lying if I said I don't feel attracted to you" His eyes were glued to mine âBut thatâs up to you, loveâ
âYes I would be interested in itâ I murmured
He smiles fondly âIs there anything else, besides fisting, you donât look forward to do during intercourse?â
âNot really..I just have a problem with analâ
âYou donât like it?â He asks
âI donât mind it actually, is just that, past experiences were not really that pleasantâ
âI see..well anal sex can be extremely pleasurable to the woman, but that will depends on whoâs performing it. We have to prep you properly before hand, have the right amount of lubrication and patience, love. But weâll get to that when itâs time, donât worry. Iâll never do something that we have not fully agreed on with before handâ
I nod.
âOkay, double penetration, how do you feel about it?â
âIâve never done it, but I would like to try itâ
He smirks at me âAlright, love. So, as our test scene I was thinking about setting a time limit, like 30 to 40 minutes to keep the scene short, just to feel our chemistry togetherâ
âIâm good with thatâ I respond
âWhat would you look forward to do on that scene?â
âUm...some bondage..degradation maybe? And maybe intercourse too?â I blush
âThat sounds like a plan, loveâ He winks âWhen would you like to do it?â
âCan we do it now?â I eagerly ask
âI like the way you think Y/Nâ He smirks as he got up from the chair âCâmon loveâ He offers me his hand âLetâs tie you upâ
I took his hand as we walk down the sideblock. Oh God, what the hell was I doing?...

crushing it

Mornings in the Beale-Mitchell household are often chaotic.Â
(who is Beca kidding. Always. Always chaotic.)Â
When Abigail turned three, Chloe and Beca decided they wanted to have another baby.Â
To their utter shock, it wasnât one heartbeat that showed up on the ultrasound, but three.Â
Three babies. Triplets.Â
Following a few hours of panic (mostly on Becaâs end, because she would be the one birthing them), Chloe reminded Beca that they were the best team, and that they would, in Amyâs words, crush it.Â
Fast forward four and a half years, Beca does believe theyâre crushing it, even if itâs hectic from waking-up to drop-off and from pick-up to bedtime.Â
Honestly, though? Beca wouldnât change it for the world.Â
âMama, Iâm lost!â
Beca glances over her shoulder to find Jacob struggling to put on her sweater as his head is stuck in the sleeve.Â
She chuckles, abandoning Jamie for a second to crawl on all-fours over to her other son. âHold on, baby.â She pulls on the sleeve and twists the sweater, Jacobâs head popping through in the right hole this time. âThere you are. Now put your pants on, quick! We donât wanna be late for school.âÂ
âMamaaaaa!â Eleanor, the youngest of the tribe and by far the most mischievous one, zooms into the room from the bathroom. âMy teeth are all brushed!â
Beca manages to bite back the f-word when she realizes Ellie also smeared toothpaste all over her top. She doesnât want to stomp on her daughterâs pride by scolding her for being messy when she accomplished a task all by herself, and takes a deep, centering breath.Â
âGood job. We might wanna change your top, though.â She pushes to her feet, rummaging through the dresser top drawer for something clean. âHere you go.âÂ
âThatâs Jamieâs!â Eleanor cries, pouting. âItâs got a dinosaur on it, Mama!âÂ
âYeah well lucky you, because dinosaurs are really cool.âÂ
That seems acceptable for Ellie, who accepts to switch without further argument.Â
âAlright, letâs brush our teeths boys and go downstairs!âÂ
While one of them gets the triplets ready for school, the other puts their lunch boxes together and cleans up breakfast.Â
âAll good?â Chloe asks when they round the corner to the kitchen a few minutes later.Â
Beca huffs, making a bee-line for the counter to take a much-needed sip from her coffee. Great, itâs cold. She grimaces and sets the mug down. âUgh.âÂ
âI poured fresh one in your travel mug,â Chloe lets her know with a soft wink as she gives each triplet their backpack containing their lunches. Â
Beca groans, snagging it. âI love you.âÂ
âLove you, too.â Chloe pecks Becaâs lips before calling upstairs, âAbigail, time to go!âÂ
âAlright monsters, shoes.â Beca ushers the triplets to the entryway where their shoes are stored.Â
âI do it, Mama,â Jamie says, because theyâve obviously got time to practice shoe lacing this morning.Â
Summoning the patience she definitely didnât have before becoming a mom, Beca smiles, observing. Sheâs gotta admit, Jamie sticking his tongue out in concentration is adorable. âCross, loop, loop and tie. Good job!âÂ
She high fives him, then grabs their three coats, handing them over. Their oldest appears and quickly puts her shoes on, standing on the tip of her toes to unhook her coat herself.Â
âAlright, letâs roll, fam!â Once Chloeâs kissed each child goodbye, they step out of the house and pile into the van (yep, theyâve got a van now) with only two minutes behind schedule.Â
âMama play the song!â Eleanor requests once Becaâs pulled out of their driveway.Â
Their children have impeccable taste in music, much to Becaâs pride. Ellieâs been obsessed with Lizzoâs Truth Hurts lately though, which⌠does include a few bad words and which landed Beca and Chloe a meeting with her Kindergarten teacher after Ellie apparently belted out âTurns out Iâm a hundred percent that bitchâ during recess.Â
Later that day, Beca explained to their four-year-old daughter that the word bitch shouldnât be said in public, even through song.Â
They make it to school on time, Beca pulling up in the drop off section and watching her kids step out. âSee you tonight guys, love you!âÂ
She enjoys the ten minutes of relative quiet over the drive to the office, contentedly sipping at her coffee as she hums along to the radio. After parking in her spot in front of the studio, she checks her phone to find a message from her wife. She chuckles, her cheeks warming up as she reads Chloeâs words.Â
My love
Didnât have time to tell you, but youâre rocking that work suit đĽľ
Beca
Oh yeah?Â
My love
Any chance you can stop by the clinic for lunch and⌠entertain me?Â
Beca
Jesus, woman.Â
I would, but todayâs packed with meetings.Â
Iâll make it up to you once the kids are asleep đ
My love
Fine, I guess Iâll settle for that, then. Have a good day. Love you!
Smiling to herself, Beca replies with the same sentiment.Â
Her work day is busy with meetings left and right and finishing up a project to meet the deadline, and Becaâs brain has turned to mush by the time she steps through the threshold of their home at the end of the day, a bit later than usual.Â
Jacob, the most affectionate of their four kids greets her with a much-needed hug when she rounds the living room corner. Beca closes her eyes and inhales his shampoo, his hair still slightly damp from bath time.Â
Bless her wife for handling the pre-dinner routine all by herself.Â
âThank you baby. Mama really needed that.â She lets him go, walking over to where Ellie and Jamie are playing on the floor and kissing each forehead. âHey munchkins.âÂ
Abigail is coloring at the table while Chloe stirs something at the stove when Beca ventures into the kitchen next. She cards her fingers through her daughterâs red hair. âHey baby. Whatcha drawing?âÂ
âFlowers,â the seven-year-old replies as she reaches for a different crayon.Â
âVery pretty,â Beca says, bending down to kiss her head as well. She steps up to Chloe, wrapping her arms around her waist from behind. âHey you.âÂ
Chloe leans back against her briefly. âHi. Busy day?âÂ
âSo busy. Thanks for handling everything by yourself, babe.â She brushes a kiss to Chloeâs cheek, squeezing her waist as she steps away. âCan I do anything to help?âÂ
âItâs almost ready so just get the kids to wash up?âÂ
Dinner is mostly entertained by their kids talking about the activities they did at school. Following a bit of playtime, both she and Chloe head upstairs to put them to bed. Abigail handles herself now, but she does still like for one of her moms to read her a story.Â
âMama?â She asks as soon as Beca closes the book to set it back on the shelf.Â
âYeah baby?âÂ
âWhatâs it like to be in love?âÂ
Beca blinks in shock, far from expecting that question from her seven-year-old. She supposes itâs better than the where do babies come from? bomb, but still.Â
âUm, wellâŚâ she clears her throat, shifting so that sheâs facing Abigail as opposed to sitting beside her. She thinks about her wife, and tries to put how she feels in clear words. âBasically, itâs⌠thinking about that person all the time, and feeling safe and really happy and⌠at home whenever youâre around them.â
âAnd you wanna kiss?âÂ
Beca purses her lips for a moment. âUm, sure. You may want to kiss them if youâre in love with them.âÂ
Abigail seems to mull that over for a little while. âBenjamin kissed me today, does that mean heâs in love with me?âÂ
Jesus Christ. Beca really wishes Chloe was here right now to handle this conversation.Â
âNo, not necessarily,â she says once sheâs gathered her bearings. âPeople kiss other people without being in love. It might just be⌠an attraction, like, thinking someone is pretty.âÂ
Abigail grins. âI think heâs handsome.âÂ
Watching her seven-year-old daughter swoon over some boy is very unsettling and something Beca was definitely not ready for for another ten years at least.Â
âSo you wanted him to kiss you, then?â Beca asks tentatively to make sure that boy didnât force Abigail to kiss him.Â
Abigail nods. âIt was cool.âÂ
Cool. Cool. Cool?!Â
Beca sucks in a breath, mustering a smile. âOkay, as long as you agreed to it, thatâs fine. You know that if a boy or a girl wants to kiss or hug you and you donât want to, itâs okay to say no, right?âÂ
âYeah.âÂ
âGood.â She bends down to kiss Abigailâs forehead. âAnything else before I go?âÂ
âNope. Night, Mama.âÂ
âGoodnight, baby.âÂ
She tucks the covers up to Abigailâs chin and hits the main light on her way out, her brain reeling as she heads back downstairs. She finds Chloe folding a load of laundry on the couch with the TV on low, and lowers herself beside her.Â
âWhatâs wrong?â She asks immediately, frowning at Becaâs expression.Â
Beca clears her throat. âOur daughter is apparently⌠kissing boys.âÂ
âWhich one?âÂ
âAbigail,â Beca hisses, shocked that Chloe would think that Ellie is old enough to be kissing anyone.Â
Chloe simply smiles, picking up a pair of toddler jeans from the basket and folding them. âSheâs seven, itâs pretty normal for her to explore those things.âÂ
Beca squints. âHow old were you?âÂ
âAbout that age, I think. It was just a tiny peck.â She tosses the jeans on the folded pile and picks up another item. âMy first real kiss was at thirteen.âÂ
âWho was it?âÂ
Chloe laughs, cocking an eyebrow. âWhat is this, an interrogatory?âÂ
âNo, Iâm just curious, I guess.â She shrugs, grabbing a towel from the basket to fold it.Â
âHis name was Jeremy. Too much tongue. Did not kiss him again.âÂ
âEw. What is it with dudes and tongue?â
Chloe giggles. âBeats me.â She eyes her wife. âWho was yours?âÂ
âMy neighbor Trevor. I was fifteen.â Beca closes her eyes and shudders exaggeratedly. âIf I could erase it from my memory I would.âÂ
âGood thing youâre married to an excellent kisser to make up for the trauma, huh?â Chloe smirks and waggles her eyebrows, pulling a chuckle from Beca.Â
âDude, not to boost your ego even more or anything, but that first kiss sent me into another dimension. I just about forgot my own name.âÂ
âAww. You were still a useless baby gay back then. Discovering the power of women.âÂ
âShut up,â Beca mutters, shoving her wife as she flushes. She eyes the basket and groans. âHow do we have so much laundry?âÂ
âFour kids, babe.âÂ
Beca sighs, then glances at Chloe, a smirk curving her lips. âWanna leave it for tomorrow and make out?âÂ
Chloeâs on top of her before she can register it, muffling her squeak of laughter with a heated kiss.Â

First Meetings pt. 1
Plot: Vanessa meets the new proprietor to Whit's End who also happens to be Whittaker's son. She's put off by his eagerness to modernize the homely estate - and his devastatingly good looks. But there's something more to him than at first glance, and soon she and the rest of Odyssey find themselves in the middle of international intrigue! Set in the Cartoon continuity.
Early that Saturday morning, Vanessa biked to the Victorian house to prepare the shop for lunch hour. The first thing she noticed was a red sports car parked in the driveway. "That's strange, I haven't seen anyone round here with that kind of car," she mused, wondering who was inside the house. When she got ti the parlor she noticed a ton of boxes strewn all over the floor and bar. She heard muttering behind the counter and spoke up. "Uh hi?"
Hearing her voice the person got up - hitting his head on the bottom of the counter in the process!
"Ow!"
"Oh I'm so sorry!" Vanessa exclaimed as she went over to help him. "I didn't mean to startle you!"
"No don't worry I'm fine," said the man as he got to his feet - all six-plus of it. Almost immediately Vanessa felt her cheeks burn. He looked a good decade older, cheeks and chin that only a Renaissance artist could dream of carving. Chestnut hair parted in bangs and the rest of it brushed back in a mullet kind of style. The sleeves of his green shirt were pulled up revealing unshaven arms - man he had been working out she mused as she saw the muscles bulging every time he rubbed the sore spot on his head. He walked straight of a romance novel, he looked that handsome.
"D-do you want ice or anything," she stammered hoping he wouldn't think she was checking him out.
"No, I have a hard head," he spoke. He stared at her for a moment then grinned. "You must be Vanessa! Dad talks a lot about you."
For a second Vanessa was a confused. "Dad?
"Ah right, I guess he forgot to tell you I was coming," he said rubbing his head again. He reached his other hand out to shake. "Jason, I'm Whit's son."
Vanessa took it gently and hitched feeling the warm strength of his palm. Please don't tell me I'm getting turned on by a guy I just met! Then it clicked - his hair specially the bangs looked a lot like her boss's signature hairstyle, only messier and not as gelled up. She should have known having seen all the pictures Whit showed of his daughter and grandkids - they all had similar looking bangs as well! She kinda remembered him mentioning he had a son once.
"So um what brings you to Odyssey?"
"I was supposed to come on Tuesday but I got sidetracked with some, uh, personal problems back home," replied Jason averting her eyes a second.
"Well he did say something about someone coming here this week," Vanessa added tapping her chin. "I guess I know who now!"
"Yep! Say do you think you can help me unpack I've been here for hours and I think I brought to much."
Vanessa's heart kicked up. His eyes were two chlorinated pools - awkward description but they were that clear - and stammered. "Ok!"
As she began taking items out, she analyzed them. "Rapid the Donkey, Myth of Esther, Mega Solomon Sibs," she read the titles. "What are these?"
"Oh those? These are game cartridges, I'm gonna install some consoles in that corner so that the kids could have something to do!"
"Um, I don't think your dad wants these here," she said. "The most he has is a tv and radio but they're kinda old. For aesthetics."
"Outdated aesthetics," Jason mildly scoffed. "Hopefully these games draw in more of the younger crowd."
Vanessa nodded. "I see, and did you talk with Jack about it?"
"No, and don't you tell him either! It's a surprise!" He winked playfully at her before going back to his work.
Uncertainty began to fester inside Vanessa. Mr. Whittaker never allowed an arcade since he believed it distracted patrons from meaningful interactions and relaxation. But maybe it wasn't her place to tell him what to do with his own family property. She just hoped he wouldn't erase all the charm and comfort she grew fond of.
By the time 10 o' clock rolled in the arcade machines were plugged in and most of the stuff were put up. As Vanessa sanitized the tables Jason said he needed to get something out of his car. He got to his car and looked around for a moment before pressing something in his ear.
"Who was that lady?" He heard someone ask.
"Just one of my dad's employees, she's clear," answered the tall man. "Any sign of him yet?"
"No, It's like a game of hide and seek," said the other person. "One minute he appears in public the next it's like he's not even there!"
Jason sighed. "Okay, I'll keepwatch over this area, you go try the farm since that's where he might strike."
"You mean where the other candidate lives? Alright I'll check it out, over."
"Over." After the line cut off Jason sighed again. So much for an easy transition. But he needed to do finish this. He had to. The townsfolk seemed nice enough but even so, he had to remain cautious. Thankfully his father's store was safe, though a small part of him wondered how long that would last.
Since I'm more familiar with the Cartoon than the radio show this story will take place in that continuity. I will bring over elements from the radio show; treat this as an mixed AU or a new season of the Cartoon, only more serialized and with more action moments. Here Tom is running for mayor and his rivalry with Blackgaard still occurs. Yes Jason will be paired up with an S/I if it hadn't been obvious already but I hope to give her some entertaining qualities without veering into Mary Sue territory! Anyways I hope you liked this chapter - don't want to spoil but next we might get more insight on what Personal Business Jason has to deal with, and introducing the other characters.

Green Apples || Kiro
Authorâs note: Look, this was supposed to be a cute simple Halloween fic but it turned into something much more. Iâm not even mad about it though. Um this isnât edited so if you see any mistakes, no you didnât.
Summary: A stolen night with a masked stranger on Halloween leads to something more when you find out whoâs behind that mask.
Warnings: some drinking
Word count: 5011
Masterlist
After filming had ended for the day, Kiki and Willow had grabbed your arm and pulled you out of your office and back to your apartment, ignoring your protests. âGuys, I still have work to get done!â
âNot on Halloween you donât! Itâs the first year my kids are old enough to be on their own and Iâm partying. I need you guys there as my wing-women!â Anna reached into her leather top and pulled her bosom up, smiling at herself in the mirror before fluffing her hair. She was dressed as Catwoman, the leather and latex that was sticking to every single one of her curves made her look younger than she was. If you didnât know her, you would have guessed her to be mid 20âs, not in her 30âs. âNow hurry up girls, your costumes are on the bed.â
Kiki and Willow jumped off your twin bed and assessed the costumes before starting to discuss who would look better in what. Peering over their shoulders, you snuck a peak at the costumes. âI think Willow would look best in the Wonder Woman costume,â you quipped. They both turned around to hear your explanation, eyebrows raised in question. âKiki and I are both short. Willowâs taller and her legs would look killer in that skirt with those thigh high boots she wore to the companyâs Christmas party last year, letâs be honest.â
âOh my gosh! Boss is right, Willow. Youâve gotta wear that, itâll look so good!â Kiki pleaded, clasping her hands together and doing her best to pout at her friend.
âWell I canât argue with my girls, can I?â Willow asked, reaching for the costume and started stripping from her work clothes. âOh man, guess I wonât be breathing tonight.â
âWe donât need to breathe, we just need to look hot.â Anna turned from your makeup mirror and all three of you gasped at her. The dark smokey eye and bright red lipstick made her look even more pale than normal but the shimmer she had highlighting her cheekbones made her look extraordinary, like she was an ethereal being.
âAnna, you look amazing!â You exclaimed, dropping the costume you had in your hand. âOh my gosh, I would never be able to tell you have two kids! I wonât be surprised if you leave the party with someone tonight.â
She winked and blew a kiss at you. âThatâs the plan babe! Now come on, you guys need to get dressed!â
Glancing at Kiki, you saw her eyeing the Harley Quinn costume so you grasped the green costume. âI think youâll look really good as Harley, Kiki. Willow and Anna can help do your makeup!â
Kiki took the costume into your small bathroom and you shrugged off your clothes. âCan someone help me zip?â
âSure babes, come here.â Anna gestured for you to make your way over to where she was perched on your makeup table. Pulling the zipper up on the costume she squealed. âYour butt looks amazing in this costume. Definitely the best choice!â
You shrugged your shoulders, smoothing down the spandex covered with leaves. âI donât even know who Iâm supposed to be!â
âIâm not really sure either, all that matters is that you look hot!â You and Anna giggled and Kiki walked back into the room, twirling around in her costume.
âKiki, you look amazing! Come here hun, let me do your makeup!â Willow gestured her over and Kiki skipped over puckering her lips obscenely and making Willow sigh out in annoyance. âNever mind, you can do it yourself.â She teased.
Anna wordlessly started to dab a pinky-orange lipstick on your lips and you sat down, letting her get to work. âAndâŚâ Anna brushed something on your cheeks, stepped back, and grinned down at her work. âPerfect!â
Turning to look in the mirror, your jaw dropped. The makeup she had done made it so you didnât even look like yourself. You looked sexy, like someone youâd see in a magazine, or at least on TV.
âBoss! You look amazing!â Â Kiki yelled out, running over and wrapping her arms around you, careful to not smudge either of your makeup. âWe all look amazing. We all better be leaving tonight with a man or woman on our arms or so help me God, Iâll give up on love forever!â
âDonât be so dramatic!â Willow threw her hair over her shoulder. âNow ladies, are we ready to go?â
Anna handed each of you a mask that would cover your eyes, but not one of the lame plastic ones, these were each individually gorgeous, made to go with your costumes. They were lined lace, gemstones, and colors that complimented the outfits. The masks mixed with everyone's smokey eyes and bright lips really brought every costume together and brought butterflies to your stomach. Despite originally not wanting to go, you actually found yourself looking forward to a night off work with the girls.
The party was already in full swing by the time you and the girls entered the bar. The bass was vibrating the floor and purple lights were flashing in time to the beat of the music. Anna left your side almost immediately, blowing a kiss in your group's direction before setting her sights on who you can only assume was a handsome man in some scrubs and a plague doctorâs mask.
âWell, she wasted no time,â Willow observed, grabbing her beer off the bar and taking a short drink.
Kiki suddenly stopped in her tracks. âI. Love. This. Song!â Each word was enunciated  and she tugged on Willowâs arm excitedly. âCome dance with me, Boss can hold our drinks.â Kiki shoved her drink in your hand and dragged Willow away, leaving you alone near the bar, two drinks in your hand but neither of them yours.
Watching them dance from the sideline had you smiling, they were never like this at work and it was wonderful to see both of them having the time of their lives. It almost made you forget that you werenât out there, but your attention was pulled away from them quickly when someone came and stood by you.
âSo many people to kill, so little time, huh?â Your skin prickled when the voice filtered through your ears and you turned to face the man, coming face to face with him. He was so close to you that you could smell sour apple candy on his breath.
âExcuse me?â Your eyebrows raised and you took a step back.
âItâs uh, itâs a line that Poison Ivy says to Batman in one of the Batman and Robin films!â The man exclaimed, reaching under his black mask to scratch an itch on his face. âI thought itâd be a good opener because Iâm dressed as Batman and youâre dressed as Poison Ivy. Weâre supposed to be nemeses but I donât think I could fight someone as pretty as you.â
Despite not knowing who was speaking to you, you found your cheeks flushing and you were grateful for the lights in the bar flashing bright colors, it was easier to hide the rouge starting to form. âSorry,â you laughed and closed the distance between you and your new acquaintance once more. âIâm not actually a fan, my friend picked out the costumes.â
âWhich one? Harley Quinn or Wonder Woman?â You wished you could see more of this manâs face that was hidden under a dark mask. He was charming and his piercing eyes felt like they were reaching in your soul and spreading warmth and happiness within.
âWow, you do pay attention. Neither, my friend dressed as Catwoman picked them out. I think her goal was to find the tightest outfits in the store, and in which case she definitely succeeded.â You took a drink of Willowâs beer, she wasnât around and itâd probably be gross by the time she came back anyway.
âOf course I paid attention when the most gorgeous woman Iâve seen walked in.â
âThat was such a line.â You rolled your eyes, a smile playing on your lips and the guy burst out laughing.
âI know! I canât believe you thought I was serious. I just wanted to see if you were someone who fell for cheesy lines like that!â His smile was gorgeous and the sound of his laugh stirred up butterflies in your stomach. Itâs been forever since you met someone who made you feel like this. âDo you want to dance?â He held out his hand, head tilted towards the dance floor and without thinking too much, you set down the drinks you were holding and grasped his hand.
He pulled you into the middle of the crowd and spun you around before pulling you close, so close that you both were chest to chest, and started moving his hips, your usually uncoordinated body easily following in his lead. âWow, youâve got some moves!â The music was louder than it was by the bar and you couldnât tell if he had actually heard you, but he had a smile settle on his lips.
After dancing to a few songs, he led you back to the bar. âIâm gonna get a water, you want anything?â
Raising your eyebrows in question, you settled on the barstool next to him. âNot drinking tonight?â He shook his head no. âAlright, one water for me too please.â
âThanks,â the guy told the bartender when he set down the two bottles in front of the both of  you. âSo,â
âI usually donât make a habit of dancing with people I donât even know.â You laughed, gulping down some water. âI donât know what came over me, itâs like youâre intoxicating.â
âBelieve it or not, youâre not the first to say that to me!â The guy leaned in, resting his hand on your thigh. Normally, youâd shy away from a touch like that but after being pressed up against his hard body for the past 7 songs on the dance floor, this touch seemed more innocent than before. âIâve never connected with someone like this before.â
âBoss!â Kiki came running up, cheeks flushed and dark red lipstick smudged. âHave you heard this song? Itâs Kiro! Come with me, we all have to dance!â
You glanced at your current dance partner who rolled his eyes at the mention of Kiro. âDonât tell me youâre a Kiro fangirl? Iâd have to take back what I just said to you.â
âKiki, I think Iâll sit this one out. Youâll just have to dance even harder with Anna and Willow to make up for it, but Iâm sure you can do it!â Turning back to the man who was staring at you, an intense look in his eyes, you smiled. âI personally like Kiroâs music, but I donât go crazy about him like some people. I honestly think he deserves some privacy to just be him. Everyone expects too much of someone whoâs only 22.â
âI never thought of it that way. I just know some people who go crazy for him and⌠it makes me uncomfortable!â The man held his hand out to you once more. âDo you wanna go outside, get some air?â
You rationally knew that it wasnât the smartest decision to go out on your own with a man you just met, but looking at him with the charming smile he had only used on you that night, you felt your heart make the decision before your head could catch up. âAbsolutely.â
This time when you grabbed his hand, he squeezed it affectionately before interlacing your fingers. Your hand was sweaty and you wanted to pull away to wipe it off but he wouldnât let you, instead just opting to hold on tighter.
The cold October air on your cheeks soothed you and helped cool your body temperature. Without thinking, you took off your mask and patted down the sweaty area that it was resting on. Turning towards the man, you saw he had stopped in his tracks, mouth slightly open, and was staring. âYouâre beautiful.â He whispered, reaching out to brush a piece of your hair behind your ear.
Looking down at your feet, so small compared to him, you fought off a wide grin. âYeah, sure. Iâm sure I look great with makeup running down my face right now.â
âNo seriously,â his hand reached under your chin to tilt your eyes to meet his. Although you hardly knew this man, you havenât seen his full face, and you didnât even know his name, there was something about him that made you feel so safe. Like being wrapped in a warm hug after being out in the cold for long hours. âTo me, you are so beautiful.â
âYou donât even know me.â You whispered, your faces so close to one another. His blue eyes so clear in the night were searching your face, taking in the new features he hadnât seen before.
âI donât trust easily, but thereâs something about youâŚâ His eyes landed on your lips after glancing at them a few times before. âCan I kiss you?â
You nodded and stood on your tiptoes, closing the small gap between the two of you. Despite not seeing him eat a piece of candy since you had met him earlier that night, he still tasted of green apple candy. He cupped your face so tenderly, like if he were to hold you a little too tight, you might break. He pulled back before pecking your lips once more. âCan you tell me who you are? Your nose was still brushing his as you both tried to catch your breath.
âPromise me it won't change anything about tonight?â He took your hands and guided you to grip the fabric mask thatâs been on his face since the moment he met you. âPlease,â
âI promise,â his eyes were pleading and you felt yourself wanting to melt into his touch, to do nothing but reassure him that your connection was too strong now to care about who he was or what he looked like. âI can promise you that with my whole heart.â His hands, still covering your own, helped you grasp the mask, pulling it over his head. A shock of blond hair fell out of the dark fabric and when he brushed it out of his eyes, you gasped. âKiro?â
âShh,â his hands moved to cover your mouth but you quickly intercepted them and linked both of them with your own. Both of your masks were discarded on the cold ground, but they were forgotten. âNo one can know Iâm here.â
âBut-â you cut yourself off, stopping yourself from bombarding him with tons of questions. âIâm just-â
âShit!â Kiro swore, ducking down to grab his mask off the ground. âThatâs my agent. He will kill me if he sees me.â You saw the man Kiro was pointing at and he narrowed his eyes at the pair of you before starting to make his way over to the both of you. âI⌠I canât believe Iâm saying this, but I have to go. Umm⌠you know how to get a hold of me, so I hope Iâll get a message from you soon, Miss Ivy.â Kiro pressed a kiss to your cheek before taking a deep breath and running off.
âExcuse me miss, who was that guy you were just with?â Kiroâs agent approached you, an apprehensive look on his face.
You panicked and said the first thing that came to your mind. âMy boyfriend. Who are you?â
âOh, sorry, I guess I got the wrong person.â His agent distractedly walked off in the other direction and you sighed, heading back inside the bar.
As you were entering, you bumped into Anna, her arms wrapped around the man with the plague doctor mask that she was eyeing earlier. Now, his mask was off and your assumption was right, he was handsome. âOh, hey babe!â She let go of him and stumbled over to you, throwing her arms around your neck. âYouâre so pretty. Iâm going to go home with this nice man his name is Brandon from the bar, so if I donât show up to work on Monday tell the police that, preferably that cute one, Gavin. Itâd be nice to be rescued by him.â
You glanced towards the man who held up his hands in surrender. âSheâs got my address and number, she was gonna send it to you guys, Iâll make sure she sends it on our way over to my place.â
Nodding, you patted her head gently. âYou be safe okay, sweetie? Iâll see you on Monday.â She pressed a kiss to the same cheek Kiro had kissed only a few moments earlier and you felt anger bubble in your chest. Your last physical touch from him was wiped away in a quick moment by a drunk friend. Selfishly, you never wanted to wash that cheek again, to always remember the moment; but even if it wasnât still there physically, you had all the memories you had made with him that night.
After watching for a moment that they actually got in a cab, you headed back inside to find your other two friends. You found them where you left them, on the dance floor and grinding against two masked men. They looked tired now, and you didnât hesitate to grab their attention. âHey, Iâm tired, want to head back to my place and we can have a sleepover?â
Kiki and Willow said their goodbyes to the two men they were with and followed you outside. âBoss, we thought you left with that cute Batman!â
You bit your lip and glanced at the place on the sidewalk where no longer than 20 minutes ago you were kissing Kiro. âYeah, but he had to go home. It was really sudden.â Feeling your eyes prick with tears, you dug your nails in your palm to distract yourself. âI didnât even give him my name.â
âOh hun,â Willow linked her arm through yours, closing the Uber app on her phone. The car coming to pick you up would be there any second. âIâm sure youâll run into him again. Loveland City isnât that big.â
Glancing wistfully in the direction that Kiro had headed after kissing your cheek, you sighed out before climbing in the back of the silver car that had pulled up in front of you. âI hope so,â
The rest of the ride back to your apartment was quiet and you and Willow had to drag a sleepy Kiki into the elevator. The rest of the building was asleep except for you guys, and as soon as you all had changed into comfy clothes, you collapsed on your small bed and fell asleep in a tangle of limbs.
Monday morning, you showed up at work, your spirits still low. Even though you had only spent a few hours with Kiro, no one had ever made you feel the way he did and you longed to feel his soft hands pushing hair out of your face once more.
âBOSS! You are NEVER going to believe who just called and asked to be on the show!â Kiki rushed into your office, eyes wide and chest heaving.
Sighing, you turned away from your computer. âWho?â
âKiro! Or, well technically, his agent called. But Kiro wants to be on the show!â Your heartbeat sped up at the thought of Kiro walking into the filming studio and seeing you for the first time since your shared moment. âHis agent said that he used to watch the show growing up and wants to show his love for it. Please Boss, we HAVE to schedule him on the show.â
âIâm sure I can change a few things around to fit him on. When is he available?â You opened your calendar and waited for Kiki to continue.
âNext week?â She sheepishly smiled. âI kinda already booked him. Iâm sorry, I was just so excited!â
You rolled your eyes at Kiki and fought to keep a smile off your face. âOkay, I will figure out a plan for a show with Kiro on it. Now shoo, go do your work!â
Kiki squealed excitedly and exited your office and as soon as you were sure she was out of earshot, you let out a very similar squeal. You only needed to get through 7 days and you would see Kiro again.
The following Monday, you didnât stop at the office before going to the filming studio, instead opting to spend some extra time on your hair and makeup. You still looked nothing like you did halloween night, but you felt a little more put together and that was important on a day with so many unknowns. How would he react when he saw you? Would he be happy, or would he play it cool and pretend like he had never met you before?
You were so caught up in your own fantasies of Kiro pulling you into his arms and kissing your senseless in front of all the cast and crew that you bumped into a solid chest, a soft âoofâ escaping their mouth.
âOh my god, I am so sorry I wasnât looking where I was going.â You bent down to pick up your papers that scattered everywhere and the person bent down as well, helping you gather them up.
âNo it was my fault, I was looking at this comic and-â he cut himself off as your eyes met his own. âWait a second, Poison Ivy? You work for Miracle Finder?â
âYeah um, Iâm actually the owner of the company?â Despite daydreaming up millions of scenarios where you ran into Kiro again, you didnât think you would have physically run into him.
âI had no clue. Um, how are you?â He handed you the rest of your paperwork and when his fingers grazed your own, your whole body was on fire. He had such an affect on you, one you couldnât even begin to describe. âYou never messaged me.â
âI wanted to, believe me.â You shifted your weight from one foot to the other. âI just wasnât sure if it was a good idea since weâre going to be working together. And besides, I knew I was going to see you here eventually.â
âIâm really happy to see you,â Kiro admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. âI canât stop thinking about you.â
âMe neither,â you agreed, gesturing to an empty greenroom. Kiro went in first and you followed a few seconds later.
Kiro took your hands in his own and gazed steadily down at you, his blue eyes never wavering from your own. âI donât have much to say, but Iâve never felt like this with anyone and I donât even know your name. We only spent a few hours together but you made me feel more alive than performing on stage does. I want to get to know you, if youâd be willing to give me a chance.â
Reaching up to cup one of his cheeks in your hand, you stroked the soft skin and Kiro leaned into your touch. âIâd love that. Iâd love to be able to see where this connection takes us. I feel like Iâve known you for years.â Kiro grinned and leaned closer to you, and you reached up and kissed him softly. âGreen apple, again.â
His eyes widened and he looked panicked for a moment. âIâm sorry if you don't like it. I can start stealing sweets with a different flavor that has just been my favorite since I was a kid. I-â
You cut him off with another kiss. âNo, itâs perfect. Very you.â Glancing at your watch you shooed him out of the room. âYou were due in hair and makeup 5 minutes ago, but Iâll see you out while weâre filming.â Kiro went to leave but you grabbed his arm gently. âItâs MC, by the way. My name.â
âMC,â he repeated it over and sent you one of the sweetest smiles youâve seen from him yet. âBeautiful, just like you.â
Blushing, you pushed him in the hallway and waited for a few moments before checking to make sure the coast was clear and left, walking towards the filming crew. âBoss!â Kiki rushed up to you and you jumped at her voice. âHave you seen Kiro? He looks so cute today!â She paused for a second. âCome to think of it, he kinda looks like the guy you were with on Halloween. Ohmigosh! What if you kissed Kiro on Halloween, how crazy would that be?â You laughed to keep yourself from answering her. Kiki would freak out if she knew just how correct she was.
You were relieved when Willow called Kiki over to clarify a few things about shooting before it started. Kiro was already on scene, dressed in a tight black turtleneck with a red and black jacket over it. He looked good and you took that moment while he wasnât paying attention to admire him, the way he stood so sure of himself, how his easygoing smile made everyone around him seem at ease.
Kiro caught your eye as you were looking him over and he grinned and winked at you before raising his hand in a wave. You blushed and waved back, his grin widening before turning back to the director.
âDid you find your Halloween mystery man?â Anna appeared at your elbow and you pushed your bangs back from your forehead. âI seem to remember some similarities between Kiro and that man, they look at you the same.â
âYeah, I think I did.â You replied, not taking your eyes off the blond who was now talking to an animated Kiki. He looked a little nervous and you made your way up to them, gently squeezing Kikiâs shoulder. âHey, I think someone in the film crew is looking for you, they need you to run an errand.â
Ignoring her protests, you turned Kiki in the other direction. âMaybe youâre the real superhero,â Kiroâs fingers brushed yours before pulling away. âSaving the superstar from crazed fangirls.â
âNah, Iâm not a superhero. Just someone who wants you all to herself.â You admitted and Kiroâs blush made your heart soar.
âOh you do? So then, what do you say to having a little impromptu date after filming today. I have a secret base I like to go to, no one knows where it is, not even Savin.â
âI say, Iâll meet you outside afterwards.â You couldnât keep the grin off your face and you were sure you looked ridiculous but you didnât care. Kiro made you happy. âFilmingâs gonna start any second,â you gestured to the camera crew finishing up positioning everything. âYouâre gonna kill it, superstar.â
Moving to join Anna, Kiki, and Willow to watch the filming, Kiki started pestering you with questions about Kiro. âYou looked so close to him that you could smell him. Boss, please please tell me what he smells like!â
Without thinking about it, you answered. âGreen apples.â
âAsk her what he tastes like.â Anna teased, nudging your side.
âBOSS! Did you lick Kiro?â Kiki grabbed your arm and Willow gently removed her hand from you. âOh my god, did you bite him?â
âHeâs obviously her Halloween mystery man, did you see how he looked at her?â Willow flipped her hair over her shoulder. âShe kissed him.â
Flushing bright red, you lowered your voice to a whisper. âYes, Kiro was the guy I met on Halloween, but please donât make a big deal about it!â Kiki was speechless, her mouth was opening and closing like a fish, not sure of what to say. âAnd before you ask again, he also tastes like green apples.â
With that you walked off, going to sit in a greenroom to answer some emails and send Minor a list of things he needed to get done by the end of the week. Afterwards, your eyes felt heavy so you laid your head down on the couch and closed them, just for a few minutes.
You woke up to a gentle hand brushing hair from your face and whispering your name softly. âWake up.â
Opening your eyes, you met clear sapphire ones and you immediately bolted up, heartbeat hammering in your chest. âIâm so sorry I didnât mean to fall asleep for so long. Did I keep you waiting?â
Kiroâs hand moved down to cup your neck, his warm hand comforting on your skin. âFilming just ended. Your friends let me know you were in here.â
Standing up and stretching, your shirt rose above your pants and you flushed as you caught Kiro eyeing the bare skin there. âI just need to check in with everyone real quick and then Iâm good to go. Are you okay waiting for a few moments?â
âIâd wait for like, 9 days for you. I did it once, I can do it again.â Kiro winked at you and walked you out of the greenroom. As you checked in with the crew, everything was under control and about to be wrapped up for the day so you made your way over to your three friends.
âIâm heading out, Iâll see you guys tomorrow.â
âYeah, heading out with Kiro!â Willow sang out his name and the other two laughed at your blush. âHave fun, donât do anything I wouldnât do!â
âIâm just glad thatâs not Anna saying that,â you teased the older girl who snickered along with you.
Bidding your friends goodbye, you made your way to the doors, and Kiro was standing there waiting for you right where you had collided with him hours earlier. He held out his hand to you. âReady to go?â
Glancing back once more at your friends, they gave your encouraging smiles and thumbs up and you looked at Kiro, meeting his eyes, before gripping his hand tighter than before. There was nothing you were more sure of in that moment than him. âYeah, I am. Lead the way.â

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hayden spent all night feeling horrible about what heâd done, but he felt it was right. He barely slept, and now he didnât know if he needed to find a new place. Not that that was the most important thing right now, but it was a factor he may have to deal with soon.Â
You rolled out of bed and groggily went into the kitchen to make coffee. You were a bit surprised to find Hayden already there.Â
âUh, I made coffee,â he informed.
You nodded and went to grab a mug as he began talking from behind you.Â
âSo, I think we should talk about last night,â he started but you turned around. âIâm sorry, and Iâll start looking for a new place today--â
âNo, itâs fine. I, um, I did some thinking,â you said, waving him off. âYou.. you might be right. Maybe we did jump into this too fast. Iâm not the type to do that at all. I think everything through, but maybe this time was different. I think youâre right. If we take a break and in a year, we still want each other and everything lines up, maybe we should talk then.âÂ
He gave you a sweet smile, nodding. âYeah, I think thatâs wise. Iâm sorry, Y/N. I didnât mean to lead you on or anything.â
âYou didnât,â you assured with a shake of your head. âIâm fine, honestly. I think you should stay here. I mean, unless youâre too weird about it. I still love having you around and we can still be friends. Thereâs no point to put you out on the streets. We can still be friendly, right?â You grinned at him.Â
You were telling the truth.Â
It hurt like hell that he didnât want you romantically right now, that he wanted to think you two were in some rebound phase. It wasnât true for you, you knew this, but maybe it was for him. So you were willing to set up a time frame that might work for him. Give him an out. Not to mention, you didnât want to lose him as friend. He did bring more light to your life than any boyfriend or friend ever had, and you didnât want to lose that just because you broke up.Â
Having Hayden in your life was more important than some stupid pride.Â
âYeah, yeah of course,â he agreed, nodding. He stepped towards you and hugged you. âI completely agree. Iâd love nothing more than to be friends.âÂ
His words made you sting. His touch made you feel as if you were on fire. But you ignored it all and put on a brave face.
----------------------------
The next several days were hard. You werenât sure which were harder -- being at work at the hotel or the studio away from Hayden or being near him. Seeing him didnât brighten your day like it used to. You thought it would. For some stupid, silly, naive reason, you thought youâsd still feel warm when you saw him, but you didnât. All you could see was the man who didnât want you.
Someone not wanting you was nothing new. Your old friends had stopped checking on you a long time ago, despite your efforts to reach back out to them. All you had now was Hayden and the new people in Treyâs.
But now you didnât even have Hayden, not really. You tried to make sure things werenât awkward and just go back to how they were before, but you couldnât. How could you? How could you pretend you didnât want to kiss him when he gave you that warm, fond smile? How could you not run your fingers through his hair when he came out of the shower, his hair still wet and looking absolutely hot and adorable? How could you not want to rest your feet in his lap while you two watched TV for a few free hours? How could you not want to cook and clean together and joke around, but then wrap your arms around his waist like always?Â
No, life couldnât return to normal for you with Hayden. That was just no longer an option, the ship had sailed long ago and there was nothing to do about it.Â
What made it hurt all the more was that this was always how it happened. You thought everything was fine, you thought things were good and then suddenly, poof - the guy was gone. Were you just blind to signs? Were you just too clingy and guys could sense it and it sent them running? Did you just fall for everyone who was afraid of commitment?Â
You shouldâve seen this coming. He was with a woman for ten years, had a child with her, but never married her. If that isnât a sign of a fear of commitment, you werenât sure what was.Â
The parties of Treyâs continued and you decided to frequent even more of them, trying to find any excuse not to be home. More parties meant more alcohol though and you decided to get drunk every night, but then youâd wean off of it, so by the time you got home, you were practically sober again.Â
Feeling the thoughts of Hayden fade away with every sip of your drink was fantastic. You werenât one to usually seek out the bottle in times of distress, but when in Rome⌠The parties, the company, the drinking -- it all took your mind of Hayden, and you desperately needed it.Â
Eventually though, it wasnât enough.Â
The drinks werenât enough to make you forget about him. He bled through. You were still crying over him at parties.Â
One night, you were talking to Darren about it. He was your drummer after all and youâd spent a lot of time with him, became friends. You two were in a booth at a club, in the back corner, talking.
âI just⌠I just want him back,â you all but sobbed.
âHey, hey,â he soothed, âuse your heartache as a tool for your music, babe. All the best musicians do. Nothing sells more records than heartbreak. Let me tell ya.âÂ
You nodded. âYouâre right, I should.âÂ
âFuckinâ a, Iâm right. But⌠if youâre that hung up on the guy, I can help you forget.âÂ
You frowned. âForget⌠like?âÂ
He nodded before pulling out that white substance again. You felt uneasy about it.Â
âLook, Iâm right here. I wonât leave you all night. Iâll watch you take it and Iâll keep you safe,â he vowed.Â
For some reason, those words, that promise to protect you, it was all you needed to trust him. Forgetting Hayden would be ideal. Youâd never hurt this bad. All you did was nod before he helped you. He poured a tiny amount on your hand, and instructed you on how to take in the substance.Â
Once it hit your system, you felt funny.Â
âDarren, I donât feel so good,â you started, feeling extremely anxious.
He held onto you. âHey, shh, shh, youâre okay. Itâs fine. Youâre fine. Just ride with it, love.âÂ
You nodded slowly and let the feelings wash over you naturally. That was all it took. The rest of the night you partied, you danced, you felt great. You werenât thinking about Hayden at all, and it finally felt amazing to be free of all this heartbreak that had weighed you down.Â
That was just the first night.Â
Every night after work, you tried to find a party with Darren, or anyone in his circle and you asked for a hit. Hayden was your drug before, but now he was gone. Something had to replace him.Â
The routine became the same, and youâd end up home, at the end of your high, with Hayden already in bed. He never saw you drunk, high, or anything other than straight laced heading into work, if that.Â
One night though, shortly after you got your hit, you got sick to your stomach. Veronica, a mutual singer friend of Darrenâs, offered to drive you home. You took her up on the offer because you were an odd mix of feeling as if you were invincible but also feeling as if youâd throw up.Â
She got you home, found your keys, and got you inside. Hayden heard the commotion around 1 AM and came out ot see what was wrong.Â
âOh, hey,â Veronica greeted. âSheâs kinda sick so⌠Who are you?âÂ
âIâm her roommate,â he said.Â
âAh, okay, cool. Iâm gonna leave her in your capable hands then. Just wanted to make sure she got home safe.â She sat you in the chair at your dining room table and waved goodbye as she dropped your purse and key near the door.Â
âY/N? Are you okay?â Hayden asked as he came forward, he started to kneel in front of you but you jumped up.Â
âNo, not really,â you snapped while you got up. âMy stomach hurts like a mother fucker. I need to lie down.âÂ
Hayden started to grab your shoulders so he could get a good look at you. âHey, come here. Let me see you.â
âWhat? No, why? Get off me,â you ordered, wrenching away from him.Â
But he got a good enough glimpse. He saw your dialated eyes and thatâs all he needed. âJesus, Y/N. Are you fucking high?â he demanded, angry.Â
âWhy do you fucking care?â you asked, walking around him.Â
âBecause I do,â he insisted. âWhat the hell are you doing? What are you thinking? This is really how you want to start your career? High?â
âMe being high and singing have nothing to do with each other. Last I checked, itâs not any of your fucking business what Iâm doing,â you seethed as you got in his face. âItâs my life and you checked out of it a long time ago. If you were ever even in it.âÂ
âOf course I was in it! I supported all of your talent. I still do. I still think you can make something of yourself without having to be high as a kite to do it.âÂ
âYouâre not my fucking parents,â you angrily reminded.
He retorted, just as angry, âI still give a fuck about you.â
âYeah you made that very clear when you said you just wanted to be friends,â you snarled.
âWhat? Because we arenât sleeping together, it means we donât care about each other?â he asked, flabbergasted at your outrage. He was just trying to help you, trying to sort out what was going on with you, and you were so angry at him.Â
âNo, because you just up and left! Because we were perfect, we never fought, and then just like Jason and all of my other exâs you just threw me away. I guess Iâm only good enough to distract men, huh, just not actually commit to? Well, screw you, screw all of you. Iâm good enough for Trey and thatâs all I need.âÂ
âI never said any of that! I never said you werenât good enough, I just said maybe we were rushing into things and I donât want it to feel like a rebound.âÂ
You shook your head. âCall it whatever you want, but the bottom line is, you left!â
âSo this is how you act? You get drunk every night and now youâre high. Youâre never this reckless.â
âWell now I am! You know what? Fuck you, I donât need this. I want you out. You have until tomorrow night to get the hell out. I donât like having to answer to anyone in my own god damn home.â
âY/N,â he stressed, sighing, exasperated.
You gave him a cold look before retreating into your room and closing the door to deal with your sick stomach.
GF - Evolution of Pines
Ford attempts to give Mabel a science lesson.
~~~~~~~~~~
Takes place between Stanchurian Candidate and The Last MabelcornâŚ
âBOB! BOB! BOB! BOB!â
Ford paused pouring his coffee when he heard the odd chanting coming from the living room, but then he heard the sounds of the television and he smiled to himself, guessing the kids were watching some program they enjoyed. Deciding he could take a tiny break from going over his old journals, he wandered towards the living room with the hot mug of coffee in his six-fingered hand.
He smiled at the doorway, seeing a young pair of twins share the big armchair, Dipper grinning and shaking his fists excitedly while Mabel knitted a new sweater with her eyes glued to the TV.
âBob Dry the Science Guy!â The theme song and the kids finished, and the episode began.
âIâm going to take a wild guess and assume you kids are watching Bob Dry the Science Guy?â Ford asked, leaning against the armchair, greeted by an energetic man in a lab-coat.
âYup!â Dipper answered. âItâs really good! He teaches about magnets, volcanoes, global warming, bugs, all sorts of things! You knew you were gonna have a good day at school when the teachers pulled out the old TV and the theme song plays.â
âHeâs so funny!â Mabel laughed as Bob printed a picture of his parents to explain something and it exploded. âMy favorite episode is when he talked about the desert and got chased by a camel.â
Ford watched the TV for a second as Bob Dry explained to his audience that when things copy, they slightly change, explaining evolution. He could definitely understand why both children would love the show, but his interest peaked and his smile crashed down when he heard his niece say, âEh, I donât buy it.â
Ford turned his head sharply, like a hunting owl, and managed to make a smile through his shock. âWh-What do you mean, you donât buy it?â
Dipper snorted and smirked, âYeah, Mabel doesnât believe in evolution.â
Ford swore he could hear glass break. âYou⌠You donât believe in evolution?â
âNot really.â Mabel said with a shrug, still watching the TV just as invested as she was a few moments ago. âI mean⌠monkeys, Darwin, itâs a nice story, I just think itâs a little too easy.â
âT-T-T-T-Too easy.â Ford repeated, swallowing hard and standing up. âToo easy? Wait, so, the process of every living thing evolving over millions of years from single-celled organisms is too easy?â
âYeah, pretty much.â
Once the shock wore off, Ford was actually quite amused. To him, this was simply a child misunderstanding the knowledge offered to them, like teaching a child that 2+2=4, not 22. He chuckled warming and moved around the chair to be next to Mabel and got on one knee to be closer to her level. âMabel, evolution is scientific fact. Itâs just as real as the air we breathe or gravity orâŚâ
âOh, donât even get me started on gravity.â
Ford stared at Mabel, confused and startled and maybe even a bit amazed. âY-You donât believe in gravity?â
âOh, I believe in it, I just⌠I dunno,â Mabel paused her knitting to better explain her idea to her stranger of an uncle. âLately Iâve just been feeling pushed down instead of pulled down.â
Ford snorted a laugh, caught it in his throat, coughed into his fist, and took in and out a deep breath. âYou know, Mabel, there are times I wish my mind was like what yours is right now, so clean, a blank slate, an empty sponge so ready to soak up new knowledge. Itâs truly a wonderful time.â
Mabel gave a timid smile back as he walked away, but something about what he said rubbed the young girl a wrong way. Needless to say, she was too distracted about what he had said to pay much attention to Bob Dry.
~~~~~~~~~~
Later that night, Mabel petted Waddles in bed robotically, still thinking. Dipper came into the room in his shorts and t-shirt and turned off the main light, leaving only his lantern on, and she decided to ask her brother something.
âHey Dipper, do you think Iâm stupid?â
Dipper turned and stared at her. âWhat? No, of course not. Youâre one of the smartest people Iâve ever met! No one can think of as many colors and games and escape plans as you can.â He stood next to her bed and asked, âWhy? Whatâs up?â
âNothing, itâs justâŚâ Mabel bit her lip, hesitant to tell Dipper how she felt. But this was the first time since Ford came home that Dipper had paid her this much attention, so maybe she should seize her opportunity why she could. âWhen Great-Uncle Ford said those things it made me feel⌠stupid.â
Dipper had to take a second to remember what Mabel was talking about. âOh.â And he sat next to her, legs dangling off the edge, to listen to her.
âYâknow, clean, blank slate, empty⌠I think⌠I think he thinks Iâm dumb, and if the Author of the Journals thinks thatâŚâ
âHey, hey,â Dipper put a hand on her shoulder to stop her. âIâm sure he doesnât think that. He loves us, weâre great. And even if he does think youâre not very smart, heâs wrong. Youâre brilliant! Youâre super creative and always thinking outside the box. Who cares if you think a little differently or if you donât believe in something others do and vise versa. I mean, you believe in gnomes and not a lot of people do.â
Mabel snorted at Dipperâs slightly pathetic try at a joke, but she was still grateful. âThanks, Dip-Dip.â
âDonât start unbelieving what you believe in, sis.â Dipper advised, making Mabel laugh, and they both accidentally started singing a cheesy song that always got people hyped.
~~~~~~~~~~
At breakfast, Mabel and Dipper were eating Stancakes with the chef cooking up one more batch for himself. They were joined by Ford, who held a rolled-up poster in his hands, and he grinned at the sight of the only female in the room. âThere you are Mabel, I wanted to talk to you.â
Mabel perked up and smiled. âReally?â
âYes,â He unrolled the poster on the table and her smile dropped when it was about evolution. âI wanted to show you the proof that we scientists have collected over the years that evolution existsâŚâ
âOh boy what did you do to unleash the beast?â Stan groaned.
âFord found out Mabel doesnât believe in evolution.â Dipper answered.
âThis should be fun.â
â... so you see, they found these fossils all over the world, stretching back as far as four-hundred million years ago.â Ford explained as this poster showed the fossils and what they looked like in life.
âUh, wow.â Mabel said, holding her chin in thought. âYou can actually see it.â
âYes! See, you can.â Ford said proudly, glad he could help his niece.
âNow,â Mabel looked away, giving this serious thought. âWho puts those fossils there, and why?â
Dipper snorted into his milk and Stan bit his lip when they saw the look on Fordâs face. âMabel sweetie, I love you so much.â Stan said as he sat down to have some breakfast.
âM-M-Mabel, Mabel, listen to me.â Ford chuckled nervously as he put a hand on her shoulder. âWhat about⌠What about thumbs?â He held up his own and further asked, âWe human beings have opposable thumbs, now how did we get those without evolution?â
âOh!â Mabel gasped and removed her hand from her chin to slam a fist down at the table. âMaybe the overlords needed them to steer their spacecrafts!â
Ford pinched the bridge of his nose. âWhile they do, evolutionâŚâ
âGreat-Uncle Ford, can I ask you something?â Mabel said sweetly, with eyes filled with wonder and sparkles.
Ford grinned. âYes, of course, my dear. Anything you want.â
âOkay, so, wasnât there a time when the smartest guys in the world thought the Earth was flat?â
âUh⌠y-yesâŚâ
âAnd, up until sixty years ago, everybody thought the atom was the smallest thing ever, until some dudes split it open and this whole bunch of other stuff came out?â
âUm⌠y-y-yes, I supposeâŚâ
âOkay, so, one last question, Great-Uncle Ford,â Mabel said. âIs there the teeny tiny-est possibility that you and every other scientist could be wrong about evolution?â
Ford was absolutely dumbfounded. He looked at Dipper and Stan for some sort of assistance or reassurance, but they only peered at him, interested in what Ford had to say now. The aged scientist cleared his throat; his nieceâs logic certainly added up, and with all of that said, he felt that he was obligated to swallow his pride and croak out slowly, âThere is a teeny⌠tiny⌠possibility⌠that I could be wrong, yes.â
Mabel blinked and put her hands over her heart in shock. Ford was ready to apologize if he had accidentally made her feel that he was so strict and by-the-book that he wouldnât have enough humility to admit he could be wrong, but his jaw dropped when she said, âI canât believe you caved.â
âWh-What?â
âYou just abandoned your whole belief systemâŚâ
âN-NâŚâ
â... I mean, I didnât agree with you, gut at least I respected you.â
âB-B-ButâŚâ
âOh my gosh, how are you gonna go to another science convention?â
âIâŚâ
âHow will you ever set foot in another museum or planetarium again?â Mabel gasped sadly. âHow are you going to face the other science guys? H-How are you going to face yourself?â And she puckered her lips innocently at her uncle, feeling sorry for him.
Ford had absolutely no clue what the heck just happened or how to respond. Feeling numb and needing a moment to digest, he slowly rolled up the poster, but rather than carry it in his hand, he cradled it like it was his own first born son, and hurried back down to the basement with as much dignity as he could muster.
âThat was fun.â Mabel said casually as she popped another bite of Stancake into her mouth.

Snippets with Mount Lady
Yu Takeyama (Mount Lady) x Fem Reader
A/N: This is a few stories merged into one. There are three stories in the same universe, the third one involves kidnapping and a brush with death if thatâs not your cup of tea. The third story also includes a mention of sex (unrelated to the kidnapping situation), but does not depict the act itself. Thanks for reading!
(Story One)
Yu Takeyama entered her apartment with a satisfied grin on her face. Her hero debut was perfect! Sure, Woods did a lot of the work, but she ended up in the spotlight. In a way, that made it even better. All of the glory without all of the work and now she was ready to bask in the attentions of her doting girlfriend.
âOh, (Y/n),â she called, elongating the name with a musical lilt. âYouâre favorite hero has arrived,â
âOh, Ragdoll?â Came the reply from another room.
Yu rolled her eyes and crossed her arms over her chest. âNo, not Ragdoll,â she huffed. âWhat a random hero to pull out of your ass just to annoy me,â
âSorry, but Ragdoll is pretty cute. If not her then... Oh my god, Hawks?!â A giggle sounded soon after Yu let out a displeased groan.
â(Y/n)!â Yu pouted, walking into the living room. She stalked over to the couch that her girlfriend was currently splayed across and took one of the throw pillows from the edge and began to beat (Y/n) with it.
âOh, tis the newest hero to enter the fray! Mount Lady saved the day!â (Y/n) laughed, tucking her knees over her stomach to try to lessen the impact of the blondeâs blows.
âYeah, and I was in a really good mood before you decided to pull that little stunt,â Yu grumped, plopping down on the newly vacated spot on the couch.
âAw, sorry honey,â (Y/n) sat up and adjusted herself to lean into the debut heroâs side and braved the storm to place a quick peck on her cheek. âThey were covering your catch on the news, I felt so lucky that I got to see some of the action and Iâm so very proud of you, my absolute favorite hero,â
Yu turned to face her girlfriend, a small smile tugged at her lips and she began to lean in. (Y/n) prepared herself for a kiss, but Yuâs smile morphed into a smirk as she pulled back a little just before their lips touched, making it (Y/n)âs turn to pout.
âYou should have started with that and maybe I would have given you a sweet reward. Iâm an up-and-coming hero now, youâre practically dating a celebrity. My time is valuable and Iâll have plenty of fans vying for my attention in no time so you had best adjust your behavior,â
âGlad to see this isnât all going to your head,â (Y/n) scoffed, sarcasm dripping with every word. âYou know, Iâm starting to feel even more sorry for that Kamui Woods guy,â
âHow did I know youâd bring that up,â Yu sighed and subconsciously leaned further into (Y/n)âs side, âListen, he had plenty of time to catch those guys, how could I not go for the glory when they practically fell right into my lap!â
âIâm pretty sure it didnât go down that way, but itâs a special day so Iâll let you have it,â (Y/n) smiled fondly, âCome with me to the kitchen? I made you a little something to celebrate your good fortune,â
âNow weâre talking,â Yu smiled excitedly. She ran in front of (Y/n) to get into the kitchen. âAwww, (Y/n)!â She cooed, looking at the prepared food sitting on the counter. âYou made my favorite!â
âCongratulations, for being someoneâs hero today,â (Y/n) smiled. âAnd hereâs to many more days to come,â
âAwww, youâre gonna make me cry you sappy bitch,â Yu sniffed.
(Y/n) laughed and hugged Yu from the side. âWell, come on then, donât want it to get cold. âHave time to go out tonight, or do you need to rest?â
âAre you kidding? Iâm not an old grandma, (Y/n),â Yu huffed between mouthfuls of food.
âNot saying you are, I just donât want you to over exert yourself. Youâll be working a lot more now, you know?â
âIâll always make time for us. Youâre like, my top priority,â Yu replied, trying to sound nonchalant.
âNow whoâs being a sap?â (Y/n) grinned. Before Yu could fire a retort, (Y/n) leaned into her side and pecked the debut heroâs cheek. âYouâre my top priority too, and I know how hard you worked to get where you are today and how important this is to you. I will understand if you are busy and need to cancel plans, or you come home late, or youâre too tired to go out. Just be honest with me, because I want to support you in any way I can,â
â(Y/n)...â Yu mumbled, a rare flush of color spread across her face. âIf Iâm a sap, than youâre like a whole goddamn tree, which would be fittingâ she chuckled. âAnd if you really mean it... Iâd rather stay in and relax tonight,â she added sheepishly.
âSounds good to me,â (Y/n) replied, smiling fondly.
***
Yu felt bad about having to cancel on (Y/n) again, she really did, and she felt like crying when her girlfriendâs voice assured her over the phone that she had nothing to worry about.
âIâm really sorry, (Y/n). You were looking forward to this, I was looking to this,â Yu apologized again, sighing over the phone.
âYu, itâs alright, really,â (Y/n) assured once more. âDonât fret over this, there will be other date nights. Just focus on the mission ahead. The League of Villains sounds dangerous and I donât want you to get hurt so be careful tonight alright?â
âOf course Iâll be careful, what do you take me for?â Yu scoffed. âI wouldnât have been approached if they didnât think I could handle this,â she said, her assuring words were as much for herself as they were for her girlfriend. âUm, the briefing is starting soon so I have to go. Iâll see you soon, okay?â Yu said, a slight tremor in her voice.
âAlright, be safe, I know you can do this. I love you,â (Y/n)âs voice came through strong and reassuring, she was glad that Yu couldnât see her anxious leg bouncing over the phone.
âI love you, too,â Yu simpered, cradling her phone closer to her cheek. âIâm gonna give them hell,â she chuckled nervously.
âI have no doubt, help bring that boy back home, okay?â (Y/n) brought her knees up to her chin, curling further into the couch, her eyes darting to the muted news station on the tv.
âWill do, bye, (Y/n),â
âBye, Mount Lady,â
When the call disconnected (Y/n) returned her attention to the tv screen and turned the sound back on, waiting for coverage on the recovery mission as it unfolded.
***
âYu!â (Y/n) cheered, relief flooding through her system as her battered girlfriend stumbled through the door. She caught her in her arms and hugged the hero close as Yuâs head fell on her shoulder in pure exhaustion and her arms wrapped loosely around (Y/n)âs waist.
âWhat are you still doing up? Itâs late... or early I guess,â Yuâs muffled voice came from where her face was buried in (Y/n)âs neck.
âDo you really think I would be able to sleep when you were dealing with a crazy dangerous criminal organization on the other side of town?â (Y/n) asked incredulously. âAnd thatâs without the rumblings that I could feel during All Mightâs fight, it was like the tremors of an earthquake! There was so much destruction...â
âI know, it was insane,â Yu solemnly agreed. âTo think that such evil could hide right under our noses like that,â
(Y/n) shifted in Yuâs sluggish hold and raised the heroâs head to examine her face.
âSpeaking of noses, how is yours? It must have hurt to take a whole human to the face, despite your size,â she asked, gingerly cupping Yuâs masked face in her hands.
âUgh, I had hoped you didnât see that,â Yu groaned, embarrassed.
âHey, it was a good save. You helped those kids escape with that quick thinking,â (Y/n) reminded, gingerly kissing Yuâs bruised nose. âCome on, I might have something for that in the med kit in the bathroom. Then a shower and some nourishment and then straight to bed,â (Y/n) declared, guiding Yu to the bathroom.
âPfft who are you, my mom?â Yu snickered, following (Y/n)âs directions and sitting on the edge of the tub.
(Y/n) simply rolled her eyes and focused on the task at hand, carefully removing Yuâs mask and setting it beside her before tending to the bruised face, gently cleaning the cuts until all were covered.
âDoes anything else hurt?â (Y/n) asked, pushing blonde locks away from Yuâs forehead scouring her features for anything she may have missed.
âNah, Iâm good,â Yu sighed pleasantly, holding (Y/n)âs hand to her cheek. âThanks for patching me up,â
âAnytime,â
(Y/n) left Yu alone to shower and began preparing a light meal for a Yu since she said she wasnât too hungry. Eventually Yu emerged from the bathroom in her comfiest leggings and a hoodie she had stolen from (Y/n) within the first month of dating her. She yawned and sat at the counter, her gaze sleepy, yet full of gratitude as (Y/n) places a plate in front of her.
After eating, Yu pulled (Y/n) to the bedroom despite the young womanâs protests.
âThe dishes will be there tomorrow,â Yu said, pulling (Y/n) through the threshold.
âThatâs kind of why I wanted to wash them tonight,â (Y/n) retorted. Still, she allowed her girlfriend to pull her down into the bed and adjust the covers around them. When she was satisfied, Yu immediately buried her face into (Y/n)âs chest and looped her arm and leg over her body, snuggling as close as she could and hummed contently.
âGood night, (Y/n),â Yu mumbled.
âGood night, Yu,â (Y/n) whispered back, noting how her girlfriendâs breathing had already slowed to a rate common with sleep. She sweetly kissed the top of Yuâs head before slipping into unconsciousness as well.
(Story Two)
(Y/n) would be lying if she said that the Mount Lady stans and simps that were popping up in droves didnât annoy her to some degree. It didnât help that a lot of them only seemed interested in Yu for her body alone. It was her least favorite aspect of dating her hero and it also didnât help that Yu did nothing to discourage the attention.
âIâm going to shoot for the sexiest hero spot,â Yu had said before she had officially became a hero. âMidnight is so overrated, I could totally take that old hagâs place,â
Now (Y/n) wished she hadnât simply laughed off the seemingly one off comment because if there was one thing (Y/n) knew, it was that her girlfriend was a shameless flirt and she certainly used it to her advantage in gaining new followers.
(Y/n)âs eye twitched as she placed another seedling into a larger container of fresh soil, her ears catching the tail end of the interview playing from the tv in the flower shop storefront.
âMount Lady, any last words for your budding fanbase?â The reporter eagerly asked.
âJust keep your eyes on me, Iâm sure you wonât be disappointed with what I have to offer,â
(Y/n) could see the flirtatious body language and insane confidence without even actually seeing it. She rolled her eyes and blocked the rest of the interaction out. Opting to focus on her array of plants.
People had filtered in and out of the store throughout the morning and by mid afternoon the shop was silent save for the tv, an occasional drip of water, and the whirring of a fan.
(Y/n) was about to sit down for lunch when all hell broke loose. No less than twenty people came in all at once in a frenzy.
âHey, I need a bouquet of roses, stat!â One man yelled over the crowd.
âForget a bouquet, Iâll take the whole damn bush!â another voice called out.
âIâll buy everything youâve got!â
âOkay, stop!â (Y/n) yelled. She never had felt the need to hire extra help more than at that moment as people tore through the front of the store making a grab at any blooming plant they could get their hands on. âYouâre all acting like animals, if you canât treat my plants with respect then you arenât welcome here!â
âWhat the hell is going on in here?!â
Every neck in the room snapped to the front door and it was so quiet (Y/n) could hear the fan once more. (Y/n) looked out from her position guarding the nursery from the unruly customers to see her girlfriend in her hero costume staring wide-eyed at the chaos that was seemingly frozen in time.
âMount Lady,â (Y/n) called, causing Yu to finally jerk her head in her direction. âCould you-â
âMount Lady!â The unwelcome patrons cried, drowning out (Y/n)âs voice.
âTell me what you like, Iâll buy you anything from the store!â One woman declared.
âIâll buy you the whole store if thatâs what you want!â Someone else practically screamed.
âMount Lady, will you go out with me?â
âHey!â Yu finally yelled, startling everyone. âDo you guys see what youâre doing to this nice little shop?â She held her arms out and gestured to the knocked over soil and a few broken pots and trampled flowers. âYou better believe youâre paying for the damage you all caused. Then I must ask you all to leave the premises immediately. I hope you all reflect on the behavior you exhibited today, donât align yourselves with me if this is how you treat the hard work of others!â She scolded.
(Y/n) hung back and it finally registered that many of the people in the shop were wearing some form of Mount Lady merch and it almost made her feel worse knowing that the people were destroying her store to present gifts to her own girlfriend. She crossed her arms tightly and watched from the nursery doorway while Yu chewed out the fanatics as they left generous amounts of cash on the counter and filed out the front door in shame.
When the group finally left, (Y/n) and Yu sighed at the same time. One sounding more angry and drowned out the more tired, resigned sigh.
Yu watched as (Y/n) kicked off the door and turned the open sign over in the front window before kneeling down to pick up the bigger flower pot pieces. Yu quickly knelt in front of her and began picking up more fragments.
âYou donât need to help clean up,â (Y/n) informed tiredly. âArenât you still on patrol?â
âYeah, Iâm helping clean up the aftermath of a public disturbance,â Yu muttered.
âHey, donât worry about it. It wasnât your fault,â
âBut it was through!â Yu groaned. âI had an interview and right at the end someone asked me what I liked and I was thinking about how your flower shop wasnât that far away from where I was so I said I liked flowers,â
âYou couldnât have known that your fans would take that as an order to ransack the first flower shop they could find,â
âWell, no,â Yu began nervously, âbut I did kind of have an ulterior motive,â
âYu?â (Y/n) gave the woman an inquisitive look as she tossed the pot fragments into the trash bin. âWhat are you saying?â
âI had an idea that some fans would be in the area and would be bold enough to buy me flowers... and since youâre the only flower shop in this area, I thought it would be beneficial for the business to get more income and to me because Iâd get your flowers,â Yu explained, embarrassment evident.
âYu, that... sounds like it should be illegal,â (Y/n) couldnât hold back anymore and stopped sweeping because her body was racked with laughter.
âWhat? No!â Yu said, defensively. âItâs not like I told them to buy from my girlfriendâs business and give me the flowers to be resold or something,â
âThat sounds like quite the scheme, sweetheart,â (Y/n) commented as Yu held open a bag for her to dump the soil back in. âMaybe itâs a good thing it turned out the way it did,â
Yu huffed and frowned, moving the heavy bag back to its original position. (Y/n) checked out the windows to be sure no one was around before lovingly hugging her from behind, resting her chin on Yuâs shoulder.
âThanks for thinking of me, but unlike you, I donât thrive off of the constant attentions of others,â she said, planting a kiss to Yuâs cheek.
âYou seem to like mine well enough,â Yu smugly replied.
âYouâre different,â (Y/n) shrugged. âYou roundhouse kicked my ribs and took roost in my heart,â
âHow many times must I tell you that was an accident! No one should just walk up behind someone walking alone at night!â
âEven if they were just trying to be a good person an inform the other that a creepy guy had been following and watching them from the other side of the street?â (Y/n) feigned surprise. âAlthough, judging from that kick and choice in career path I suppose I had nothing to worry about,â
âWell, I donât want to say Iâm glad I kicked you in the stomach, but...â Yu let the sentence die off, bashfully twisting a lock of hair with her fingers.
âWell letâs try not to repeat that,â (Y/n) laughed, âYouâre a lot more practiced than you were back then and Iâm sure Iâd die,â
âYou would not die,â Yu rolled her eyes and couldnât fight the smile tugging at her lips.
âThanks for helping me clean up, Mount Lady, however could I possibly repay you?â (Y/n) stretched, stepping away from the hero just as someone passed the shop windows.
âIt was no trouble, dear citizen,â Yu smirked, playing along. âYou neednât pay me, as a hero I gain all the payment I desire by helping those in need...â
âI sense a but, coming,â (Y/n) crossed her arms over her chest as Yu moved to be close once more.
âBut a kiss from a woman as lovely as you would certainly help power me through the rest of my patrol.â Yuâs face hovered in front of (Y/n)âs, âIf itâs not too much trouble, I would be so honored if you would,â
âOh my, who am I to refuse such a humble request?â
Yu closed her eyes and leaned in, surprised that the softness that met her lips was not the one she was familiar with, she opened her eyes in mild confusion. A white lily, one of her favorite flowers, obscured Yuâs view of her sweetly giggling girlfriend.
âI believe it may be best to wait until after your patrol, brave hero. That way youâll have something to look forward to when you get home away from possibly prying eyes,â (Y/n) subtly twerked her head to the side and Yu caught sight of people lingering outside the shop and pouted.
âOh alright,â she grumbled, âSee you tonight,â
âOf course,â
Before leaving with the lily in hand, Yu stopped at the door are turned back, looking a bit flustered. âI better get more than one kiss though,â
âI think I can fulfill that request. Now go give out parking tickets or whatever it is you do, Iâm ready to open shop again but if youâre still hanging around Iâm bound to get mobbed again,â
âScrew you!â Yu couldnât help but laugh and with one last wave, she vacated the building. She couldnât wait to go home.
(Story Three)
âFuck!â Yu cursed, startling (Y/n) while she finished making breakfast.
âWhat? What is it?â (Y/n) asked, turning off the stove to peer over her girlfriendâs shoulder as she frantically scrolled through her phone.
âThere was a data breach across multiple hero agencies that released a bunch of private information across several major social networking sites. Everyone knows weâre together now!â Yu shoved the phone in (Y/n)âs hand and she got up to pace around the kitchen.
(Y/n) looked at the screen and sure enough, along with blood type, measurements, birthday, was her name listed as an emergency contact that identified her as Yuâs girlfriend. Meanwhile, Yu kept pacing and speaking out about her frustration and worry.
âHow could this even happen? Youâd think the agencies would have better security than this! Not to mention my own agency got hacked! How infuriating! And- and now your name is out there! What if villains try to take you and use you against me?â Yu began spiraling.
âYu, hey, itâll be okay,â (Y/n) put the phone down and went to comfort her girlfriend, pausing her pacing.
âItâs only a matter of time until people figure out where we live. We should move. Start over in, I donât know, Canada? Thatâs where the penguins live, right?â
âYu, honey, no,â (Y/n) clasped the young heroâs cheeks between her hands and forced her to focus on her. âWe arenât going anywhere. Weâve got a happy life here, and youâve worked too hard to start over now. You werenât the only one to get hacked and you probably wonât be the last. I know youâre scared, I am kind of scared too, but weâll be fine. Things are going to be different yes, but weâll adapt,â
âHow can you be so sure?â Yuâs voice was unbearably small as she clutched to (Y/n) for dear life.
âWeâve seen things like this happen over the years. People will be obsessed for a week or two then move on to the next big thing. I know it seems very vulnerable now, and it may be hard to deal with at first, but weâll pull through like other heroes and their partners and families have,â
âThis is most scared Iâve ever been, I donât know what Iâd do if anything bad happened to you,â Yu sniffed.
(Y/n) held Yu close and rocked her in her arms, kissing her head in a comforting manner. They stood there in silence for a few minutes before Yu took a deep breath and steeled herself, reaching for her phone again while keeping one arm securely wrapped around (Y/n).
âMaybe you should put that away for now,â (Y/n) advised âLooking might only make you more on edge,â
âIâm sure everything has been taken down by now, I just- I want to know what the public thinks about all of this,â Yu fiddled nervously with the end the (Y/n)âs shirt as she opened Chitter on her phone. âOh fuck, Iâm trending!â
âSee what did I tell you?â (Y/n) frowned. âI think you should-â
â(Y/n)!â Yu cut her off, suddenly even more jittery. âLook, read some of these cheeps!â
(Y/n) took the phone Yu had shoved in her face and began to read aloud the first post she saw.
âMount Lady is too hot to be gay itâs totally false info. Plus I saw a pic of the other girl and she isnât even that great,â she read, (Y/n)âs eyes narrowed âIs this suppose to make us feel better or...?â
âNo!â Yu pointed at the cheep directly below, âHere, read that one,â
âYaaassssss Mount Lady swooping in with that sweet lesbian justice and Iâm here for it,â (Y/n) looked up at Yu, tilting her head âbut youâre bi,â
âThey donât know that,â she shrugged, ânot yet anyway,â she added with a smile.
âI know that look, youâre scheming,â (Y/n) matched Yuâs smile and arched a brow, imploring Yu to explain herself.
âIf you keep scrolling through, youâll see that a majority of those cheeps are supportive and even excited about us being together. If we play our cards right I could totally expand my fanbase!â She snickered.
âOnly you would use your sexuality as a marketing tactic. Well, you and those big corporations during pride month,â (Y/n) crossed her arms over her chest, âAlso how would bringing more attention to our relationship help ease your worry about villains taking interest in kidnapping me?â
âIt doesnât,â Yu honestly replied. âBut, getting you public recognition and support can only be good in the long run. Weâll have more people who will have your back should, god forbid, anything happen to you,â
âIâll trust your judgement,â (Y/n) sighed.
âGreat, wait here a second,â Yu jogged past (Y/n) and disappeared into the bedroom. When she remerged, she was dressed in her hero costume looking immaculate. âCome on, come on!â She slung an arm over (Y/n)âs shoulders and held her close, angling her phone for a selfie.
âWait a second, what are you doing?â
âIsnât it obvious? Selfie for social,â Yu said matter-of-factly.
âIâm still in my pajamas. I havenât even brushed my hair,â (Y/n) blocked out the camera with her hand. âAt least let me get dressed too if weâre really doing this,â
âOkay, fine,â Yu groaned. As (Y/n) lowered her hand from the phone, Yu smirked and snapped a picture. âThat one is just for me I swear!â She laughed, watching (Y/n) stalk off to the bathroom.
âReady? Yu asked, eyeing her girlfriend appraisingly.
âAs Iâll ever be,â
âAwesome, letâs take it by the window. The succulents are looking sharp this morning,â
The couple positioned themselves in front of the window and Yu leaned her head against (Y/n)âs, winding an arm around her waist this time around as she positioned her phone in her other hand.
âHey, loosen up a bit. You look like this is a hostage situation,â
âSorry,â (Y/n) squirmed.
âNo need to be nervous, itâs just going on my official Chitter and immediGraph. Ooh, maybe we can make a ClickClock later,â
âUh huh, that is really making me feel better,â
Yu lowered the phone for a moment before moving in to shower (Y/n) with kisses until the nerves devolved into laughter. When Yu paused her attack, (Y/n) took the moment to catch her breath and smiled lovingly at Yu.
âGot it!â Yu cheered, bringing her phone to her face.
âHey!â (Y/n) pushed closer to look at the candid shot and pouted. âI look like a lovesick idiot,â
âYou are, thatâs what makes this pic so perfect! Iâm setting this as my home screen too,â
(Y/n) groaned, covering her face with her hands. âWhatever, I need to go check on the greenhouse before I open for the day,â (Y/n) got up and started putting on her jacket and shoes.
âWait a minute!â Yu paused her filter searching to beat (Y/n) to the door. âYou canât just leave, not with all thatâs going on!â
âYu, come on now. We canât just stay home forever,â (Y/n) crossed her arms over her chest. âIf memory serves, you need to be at your agency in twenty minutes,â
âUgh fine,â Yu grumbled, âbut Iâm walking you to the shop,â
âYu, you canât possibly walk me to the shop and make it to your agency on time,â
âWanna bet?â Yu smirked, shoving (Y/n) out the front door and quickly locking it behind them.
âAHHHHH!!!â (Y/n) yelled as the ground below her fell further and further beneath her. She clutched the giant fingers she was kneeling on for dear life as her screaming was nearly drowned out by Yuâs laughter. âYu! A bit of warning would have been nice!â
âOh youâre fine! Just five or six carefully placed footsteps and weâll be there,â Yu grinned, waving at the civilians below with her free hand.
âIâm not sure this is an appropriate use of your quirk. Weâre gaining more attention than if we just walked normally down the street,â
âBut youâre so tiny and cute!â
âIâm not tiny, youâre a giant!â (Y/n) steadied herself on Yuâs palm, daring to peek at the streets below. She released a relieved sigh as her shop came into view with the last step. Yu carefully lowered her hand and (Y/n) slid off, smiling sheepishly at the people gawking on the sidewalk.
âBye sweetheart! Text me when you want to go home and Iâll pick you up, okay?â Yu called from above.
âY- Mount Lady, I can walk home!â
âIâm afraid I canât hear you from down there so Iâll just assume youâre agreeing with me, bye!â Yu blew a kiss before lumbering off, watching every step she took as she made them her way to her agency.
(Y/n) tried to ignore the small crowd that had gathered in the street as she fumbled with the keys. Finally she was able to open the door and slip inside.
Without sparing another glance she set up the shop for the day and took care of her plants and some general maintenance before returning to the main room. When she looked up, she saw many curious faces still looking through her windows.
She took a few calming breaths before turning the open sign over, and unlocking the front door once more. She went to stand behind the front desk and had a brief, yet awkward staring competition with the people outside before someone finally reached for the door and came inside.
To (Y/n)âs relief, the patron was a regular, a student from UA even. A friendly face that helped the florist feel a little more at ease.
âIbara, nice to see you!â (Y/n) smiled sincerely.
âGood morning,â Ibara replied, returning the smile. âIt seems you have quite the crowd already, although Iâm not sure why they are just standing outside,â
âEhh, yeah, itâs kind of uncomfortable, isnât it? I donât suppose you checked social media this morning?â
Ibara nodded, âI have, but even if I hadnât, I heard people talking about the leaks on the shuttle. To be honest, I came to see if you would be okay,â
âThatâs very kind of you, but you neednât worry. Iâd feel bad if you used your weekend to check up on me. You heroes in training deserve to relax too after all,â
Before Ibara could speak again, the crowd outside seemed to have gathered their courage and began filing in.
âOh boy, this is a lot,â (Y/n) sighed under her breath.
âIâd be happy to help, if thatâs alright?â Ibara offered.
âYou know what, Ibara? I think Iâll have to take you up on that,â (Y/n) said, she was starting to feel a bit faint as more and more people filtered into the shop. âIn fact if you have any friends who would be interested in helping, please call them over,â
Ibara managed to call upon her classmates Kendou and Testsutetsu who were more than happy to help. They made the crowd much more manageable and helped get people what they were looking for so they would be on their way. It was really helpful, especially when (Y/n) was stuck with some very persistent reporters.
âWhat can you tell us about your relationship with Mount Lady?â
âAre you using your relationship as a marketing ploy?â
âWere you trying to make a political statement with that social media post?â
âNo comment, excuse me, but I have a business to run,â (Y/n) would try to dislodge herself from the situation but the camera operators
would block her path as the reporters waved microphones in her face.
âWhy are you dodging the question?â
âDo you think because your dating a pro hero that you are better than the average civilian?â
âNo! Of course I donât think that,â (Y/n) said empathetically, still trying to put space between her and the reporters. Her forward answer seemed to cause a frenzy like blood on the open ocean, crowding the poor woman and berating her further.
âHey, back off!â Kendou, finally having enough, enlarged a hand and tried to push the press off of the overwhelmed florist.
âMiss (L/n), have you coerced these children to work for you in exchange for internships with Mount Lady?â
âWe heard of an incidence not too long ago where Mount Lady had sneakily endorsed your business. Are you not aware of the strict sponsorship rules heroes must follow?â
Kendou managed to push (Y/n) into the greenhouse and closed the door behind her, defending her from the outside.
(Y/n) felt tired as the dull throb of a headache complimented the muffled yelling on the other side of the door. She reached for her phone but quickly remembered that she had left it behind the front desk.
Instead she wandered to the back of the small greenhouse and laid on the small wooden bench she kept there, her hands folded over her stomach as she tried to calm her breathing.
âI hope Ibara and the others are doing okay,â she muttered to herself, closing her eyes. âI hope Yu isnât being hounded by the press like this. She could probably handle it better than me though,â
âIâd say, from what I saw you have no tact at all,â
(Y/n)âs eyes shot open and she jerked into a sitting position, flinging her head quickly to the side but saw nothing.
âWhoâs there?â She called.
âYou could say Iâm a love rival I suppose,â the disembodied voice drawled. âAlthough itâs clear that Iâm superior since your just some quirkless nobody,â
âIs that what this is? Some kind of invisibility quirk?â (Y/n) backed into a corner, her arms covering herself defensively.
âWell, I guess you arenât completely stupid after all,â the voice jeered.
âWhat are you planning to do to me?â
âTake you out of the picture. You see, Iâve been interested in Mount Lady even before she was a big shot pro hero. I just saw her one day and knew she had to be mine. She would have been too, if you hadnât got in the way that night!â
âWhat are you talking about?â
âEugh, I was just trying to warn you about the man following you across the street,â the voice mocked, attempting to sound overly pained.
âYou, you were the one following her the night we met?â (Y/n) tensed.
âYeah, Iâve learned since then. Decided itâs best to have the element of surprise. All this chaos over the leaks gave me the perfect opening to slip in undetected with the crowd. Iâve trained my camouflage quirk intensely in the past couple years to prepare for this moment. The moment I make you disappear,â
(Y/n) had been inching toward a pot of soil during the voiceâs speech. Calculating approximately where it was coming from. She heard the sound of a shoe scuffing against the floor a bit to her right and quickly threw the pot in that direction.
A loud grunt was heard as the pot collided with something mid air then shattered across the ground. (Y/n) darted back toward the door.
Before she could yank it open, a force collided with her back and toppled her into the ground. As she struggled against the grip she called out for help.
âIbaraKendouTetsutetsu!â She screamed before a hand clamped over her mouth. She was afraid that there was still too much noise in the main room, that they wouldnât have been able to hear her, but thankfully Tetsutetsu burst through the door in all his shiny metal glory. He whipped his head wildly about the room but seemed to be unable to comprehend what was going on.
âHello, flower lady? You good?â
(Y/n) struggled against the invisible force holding her against the floor and bit the hand covering her mouth, allowing for a moment of reprieve.
âTetsu, invisible enemy he-â (Y/n) fell unconscious. The crazed man had dealt a blow to the back of her head, but the momentary outburst was enough for Tetsutetsu to fully understand the gravity of the situation.
âIbara! Kendou! An invisible villain has taken (L/n) hostage, and it looks like itâs an ability that extend to other people! Call the police!â
Ibara was on the phone in an instant but Kendou was still dealing with the unruly press. Now newly invigorated by the juicy development, one woman grabbed her camera operator and excitedly talked into her microphone.
âAn unprecedented development here as Mount Ladyâs girlfriend has apparently been kidnapped by an invisible force! Has she really been kidnapped or is it all a ploy for attention? Stay tuned and find out!â
Tetsutetsu cautiously stepped into the greenhouse with Ibara on his heels, her hair whipping out defensively, searching.
âThe police are on their way,â Ibara called. âI suggest you give up now before you do something youâll regret,â
A loud crash caused the two students to look up. The greenhouse wall had been shattered, opening an escape route to the villain.
âOh no!â Ibaraâs hair grew more frantic searching for any invisible resistance in its wake. âThey left the greenhouse!â
âDamn it, donât let them get away!â Tetsutetsu yelled, running through the gapping hole. âHey! Thereâs an invisible guy running around out here! He has a hostage heâs hiding with his quirk!â He yelled to the approaching officers.
âHey, I just felt something push past me!â A passerby yelled.
âSplit up! We got to find this man before itâs too late!â An officer yelled.
âWe need pros for this, should I call in Mount Lady?â Another asked.
âNo, sheâs too close to the victim and may act recklessly. Call in someone who can see heat signatures, tracking abilities, anything that could help us find someone invisible!â
Everyone was scrambling. The reporters finally left the shop to report on the chaos from outside. Kendou shooed the rest of the patrons out and joined her classmates, wishing they could do more, but without provisional licenses all they could do was watch.
The camouflaged man ran down a vacant side street with (Y/n) lying unconscious over his shoulder. He grinned wildly believing that he was actually going to get away with his plan.
***
Yu paused in one of the halls of her agency, seeing a group of sidekicks and interns crowded around a phone and rolled her eyes.
âCâmon guys. I donât pay you to sit around and do nothing. I pay you so that I can sit around and do nothing...â her voice trailed off as she saw what was playing out on the screen. A picture of her girlfriend in the corner of the screen while the newscaster relayed the situation. Missing, kidnapped.
Yu turned on her heel and ran down the hall with sidekicks yelling after her. She didnât stop to listen though, she could only hear the blood pounding in her ears. She could only focus on trying to bring (Y/n) home.
âHow could I have been so careless? Walk her to her flower shop as a 68 foot tall woman? I might as well have shot off fireworks that spelled out âwant my girlfriend, come and get her!ââ She scolded herself, fighting to keep her composure.
Yu felt powerless, she couldnât find an invisible threat by growing into a giantess. Still, she ran. Trying to think like a villain, she took to the alleys and paths less traveled, looking for any sign that (Y/n) may have been there.
âPlease, (Y/n), be okay,â she pleaded as she searched. âCome on baby give me some kind of sign, where are you?â
âMount Lady!â
Yu jerked her head up just in time to see Kamui Woods land in front of her.
âWoods I donât have time to talk right now!â Yu attempted to push past, but Kamui Woods held his ground.
âWeâve got people looking for her all over the city. Weâre going to find her. We need to work together to get you home, then get back to the crime scene with something that (Y/n) uses often, something that would hold her scent so the trackers can narrow the search,â
Yu bit her lip and nodded shakily. She had tried to concentrate on using her quirk, but Kamui stopped her.
âThereâs reason to believe that the leaks are why this is happening. If the villain sees you tromping around they may do something even more reckless,â he explained.
As much as Yu wanted to protest, she gave in and allowed her colleague to procure wooden transport as they parkoured their way over to the apartment.
Yu burst inside and grabbed a few of (Y/n) favorite house clothes and tossed them at Kamui.
âYouâll travel faster without me. Get those to the trackers, Iâll catch up,â
âAlright,â Woods sighed, âdonât do anything reckless,â he flew over the building, using his wood quirk to fling himself as fast as possible.
Yu ran behind from the ground searching every corner in vain as if she would suddenly be able to see the invisible menace who stole her love away. Clenching her fists tightly, she picked up her pace toward the flower shop greenhouse she knew so well.
By the time she got there, police tape surrounded the building and broken glass littered the sidewalk. Not many officers were left at the scene since it was determined that the villain had vacated the area. The forces involved had spread out and followed the tracking heroes as they searched for (Y/n)âs scent.
âMount Lady,â
Yu turned her attention to the three students coming toward her, all looking despondent.
âWeâre so sorry he got away. We couldnât stop him,â Ibara sniffed.
âDonât blame yourselves. Iâm sure you did everything you could. Besides, weâll get her back soon,â Yu tried to put on a brave smile, but it wavered almost immediately.
âWeâve got a scent trail heading toward the forest near the edge of the city!â A sidekick yelled, waving a walkie-talkie excitedly.
Yuâs eyes grew hopeful and she almost forgot how to breathe, sparing a moment to give an appreciative nod to the three Class 1-B students before bolting off toward the forest.
âIâm coming, (Y/n). Just hold on a little longer,â
***
(Y/n)âs head was pounding when she finally came to. She struggled to cup her head in her hands and quickly realized that she had been tied up. She strained against the bindings, turning she that she was laying on her back rather than her stomach. She recognized the trees filtering light overhead and figured she had been taken to the nature preserve on the edge of the city.
âFinally awake, are you? It would have been boring to kill you otherwise,â
(Y/n) turned her head, surprised to actually see the source of the voice. A middle aged man with dark, sagging eyes who looked in desperate need of a shower from how heavily he was sweating.
âI over-exhausted my quirk getting you here, but itâll all be worth it once youâre gone,â
âDo you really think Mount Lady would come to you even if we hadnât met that night? Youâre at least twice her age and you were following her from the shadows like a total creep!â (Y/n) wasnât sure what came over her, but she almost immediately regretted saying anything. She wasnât going to survive this by pissing off her kidnapper further and hastening her murder.
The man grabbed her by the rope tied tightly against her chest and yanked her to her feet, looking menacingly into her eyes.
âMaybe not,â his chuckle was callous and dark. âBut with you gone Iâll at least have a chance and if she doesnât like me well, sheâll learn to do so over time,â
(Y/n) flinched as a knife was pulled from the manâs jacket pocket. It glinted in the sun as he moved to hold it in front of (Y/n)âs face.
âNow how âbout we carve up that pretty little face of yours first before we send you to your early grave,â
The knife just barely grazed (Y/n)âs tear stained cheek when a shot rang out and the crazed man let out a pained screech, dropping his knife to the forest floor along with (Y/n) as he clutched his heavily bleeding hand close to his chest.
âStep away from the civilian, weâve got you surrounded, come quietly!â A voice called from the cover of the trees.
âNo!â The man snarled. âI refuse to let all my training, my planning, go to waste!â He hissed, veins protruding painfully from his head as he flickered before vanishing from sight.
âDamn it! Go go go! Get that woman out of there before itâs too late!â The voice commanded.
The rescue team came in from all angles and witnessed (Y/n) try to wiggle away before disappearing as well. Fortunately, the tracker hero that had found her scent trail had identified the villainâs unique and wretched stench as well, he plowed into the scent head on and knocked the villain away, revealing (Y/n) once more and giving a sidekick the opportunity to carry her to safety.
The team didnât allow themselves to rest yet however. They may have rescued the target but she would only truly be safe if they could catch the villain responsible.
âHeâs running! The tracking hero yelled, âBlock off access to the river or Iâll lose him!â
The fastest of the group ran to cut the villain off, the tracker could be heard yelling what direction the man was heading as they disappeared further into the trees.
âAre you alright, miss?â The sidekick asked, freeing (Y/n) from her binds and checking her over for serious any serious injuries.
âI... I think so,â she took her time answering as she was particularly shaky and her eyes were still wide and alert, jumping at each rustle of leaves in the wind. âMy head hurts but Iâm okay, I think,â
âDo you think you can get up? There is a line of police cars at the forest entrance, we can-â
â(Y/n)!â
(Y/n) barely had time to look up before the sidekick was pushed to the side and she was enveloped in strong and familiar arms.
âOh, (Y/n), Iâm so glad they found you! Oh, how could I have been so careless!â Yu cried, holding (Y/n) as close as she dared as she sobbed into her neck.
âIâll uh, give you two some space,â the sidekick mumbled awkwardly before heading over to the others who had stayed nearby.
âYu,â (Y/n) sighed, relief washed over her aching, tense muscles and she relaxed into the hold. âYu, please donât cry. Iâm okay,â she rasped. Without the adrenaline pumping through her veins she suddenly felt drained, exhausted.
âYouâre not, look at you!â Yu gently swiped her fingers over (Y/n)âs cheek, drawing a pained hiss from the other woman. âYou got cut, what else hurts? I need to get you to a hospital,â
âMy head still hurts from when he knocked me out, but I think thatâs the worst of it besides the scrapes and bruises,â (Y/n) rested her head on Yuâs shoulder, letting out a short, surprised yelp when the ground disappeared below her and instead Yuâs arms were carrying her battered body. âIâll never get over how strong you are, even when you arenât using your quirk,â (Y/n) smiled tiredly, wrapping her arms around Yuâs neck.
âYeah, that is pretty sexy of me, isnât it?â Yu teased, her eyes rimmed in with red from her tears.
Yu began carrying (Y/n) in the direction of the city when people were coming back to the clearing. She paused and stared daggers into the man who was slumped over in the hold of two officers with a couple of heroes flanking their sides.
Upon seeing Yu with (Y/n) cradled in her arms the man growled and strained against the officersâ grips. (Y/n) and Yu held each other closer. (Y/n) hid her face in Yuâs chest, but Yu persisted with her stony gaze. Had the man not yet been in custody she would have crushed him beneath her heel. Her gigantified heel.
âYou think this is over? Sheâll be mine and youâll be-â
Yu couldnât help herself, she swiftly kicked the man and he doubled over in pain. No one seemed interested in explaining to her that it wasnât very hero-like for obvious reasons, it was the least he deserved. Yu turned on her heel and adjusted her grip on (Y/n) and headed out if the forest without looking back.
An officer at the clearing gave them a ride to the hospital. (Y/n) got her cheek and other bruised and scraped skin cleaned and dressed. The doctor also determined she had a mild concussion and discussed how to treat that with the couple.
Yu had refused to leave her side the whole time. She held (Y/n)âs hand and stroked her hair, drew circles over her back with her fingers, anything to soothe her partner and to also make sure that she was really there with her.
Police came by asking for statements and a general rundown of what (Y/n) experienced. They didnât push her too hard since it was all so fresh and she looked so tired and shook up. They left once they had the basics and promised to keep in touch as more information was needed.
Kamui Woods came by with the clothes they had used to track (Y/n) and talked with the couple awhile. Yu begrudgingly thanked the man for all of his help. She was sincerely grateful, but she didnât want to admit it.
When the doctor came back, she cleared (Y/n) to go home and Kamui Woods offered them a ride which (Y/n) eagerly agreed to. The poor girl was just too tired to deal with public transportation.
On the way home, she fell asleep on Yuâs shoulder and when Kamui pulled up to the curve, he helped Yu open the car door so she could carry (Y/n) to the apartment. Kamui helped open the apartment door too, bidding farewell to Yu quietly before leaving the bag of clothes in the doorway and shutting the front door behind him.
Finally alone, Yu carried (Y/n) to the bedroom and gently laid her on the bed. She smoothed over the sleeping womanâs hair and kissed her softly, positioning herself so she was propped up on her elbow and looking down at (Y/n). Before long, she had fallen asleep as well, an arm draped protectively over (Y/n)âs waist.
***
The first couple weeks after the incident were hard on the couple and actually strained their relationship some. Yu didnât want to leave (Y/n)âs side for anything and her work suffered. She had even suggested retiring from hero work to run the flower shop with (Y/n).
(Y/n) however, wouldnât have it. She knew how much Yu loved being a pro hero and flat out refused the proposition.
âAsk again in like, twenty to thirty years and Iâd be more than happy to run the business with you,â
They had also taken up going to therapy. As much as they didnât want to admit it, the incident had affected them both in very negative ways. Sometimes just having a mediator there while talking about that day or how it was affecting them now was very beneficial and helped strengthen their relationship in ways that made it seem even stronger than it was before the trauma.
When the trial for the camouflaged man occurred, (Y/n) was called as a witness. It was determined that it was important for the jury to hear the account first hand in order to make a verdict.
Yu sat in on the proceedings for moral support and seeing those warm, purple eyes brimming with love and support helped (Y/n) bravely retell her story. The man was sentenced to life in prison for first degree attempted murder, kidnapping, and assault. It was the first time in a awhile that (Y/n) felt truly safe again.
Once things had calmed down and life felt normal again, (Y/n) and Yu were finally able to fully experience the positives of having their relationship public. They would meet people on the street who would express their appreciation and told stories of how their relationship and pride in their identities inspired them to come out or helped them feel less alone. There were lots of hugs and selfies during those meetings which fueled Yuâs ego a lot, but rather than finding it annoying, (Y/n) couldnât help but find it endearing. It was just so Yu.
âHey lovely, ready to go?â
(Y/n) turned to face Yu in her hero costume with the added feature of a bi flag draped over her shoulders as a cape.
âI thought you had decided on street clothes for the parade,â (Y/n) smiled, watching Yu jump from foot to foot in anticipation as (Y/n) slipped on her backpack and reached for her own flag(s).
âYeah, I did, but then I thought about the publicity! People may not recognize me if I donât keep up my brand. And I wonât have it be said that Mount Lady was a no show!â
âThat would be the end of days, wouldnât it?â (Y/n) hummed.
âIt would! And what if people thought you were with some random girl, cheating on me while Iâm out on patrol or something!â Yu gasped dramatically.
âOh, kind of like that tabloid about you and Kamui Woods a couple months ago?â
âUgh, donât remind me,â Yu groaned, clinging to (Y/n)âs side.
âIt was kind of funny how concerned you were about whether or not I believed that,â (Y/n) mused, thinking back to how frantic Yu had been to express her undying love times a billion.
âIt may have just been a stupid half-assed tabloid, but we were kind of fighting at the time so I wanted to destroy any doubt that could have been planted in your mind,â Yu reasoned.
âDonât worry, if there was ever any doubt in my mind, you certainly demolished it. However I think just talking it out first would have been better than the sex first explanations later method you used,â (Y/n) teased.
âHey, you know Iâm better at expressing myself through my actions than my words! I just wanted to let you know that youâre the only one I want,â
âAnd what a way to convey that,â (Y/n) mocked fanning herself and earned a smack on the shoulder in response.
âAlright, are we going out now or what? Iâm planning on getting so much free food,â
âOkay, okay, Iâm ready. I hope youâre planning on sharing the bounty,â (Y/n) opened the front door for Yu and she stepped out behind her into the sun.
âOh, I suppose,â Yu responded after pretending to mull it over. âBut what can you give me in return?â
âI have it on good authority that you might enjoy a glass of wine, a massage, and some trashy tv when we get home,â
âOh hell yes! What are we waiting for? Letâs go out and charm some food out of some vendors!â Yu cheered, interlacing her fingers with (Y/n)âs.
âIâm right behind you, Mount Lady!â

Jonghyun/Taemin; Starchild; PG
au where jonghyun is a tiny little fallen star and taemin is a human
hey donât forget to check out my favorite jonghyuns challenge this month :)
"Can you take me to the bedroom?" He asks. "I want to nap."
"Yeah, of course," Taemin says. No problem. He takes his headphones out, puts his laptop onto the couch cushion next to him, and offers Jonghyun his hand. With a polite word of thanks, Jonghyun steps on. He's warm, almost too hot to the touch, and practically weightless.
Well, not practically weightless. Entirely weightless. The only pressure that Taemin feels on his palm is from the weight of the quilt. The only thing keeping Jonghyun from floating up to the ceiling is the quilt. Star problems, Taemin guesses.
The sigh of relief that Taemin lets out when he closes his front door behind him is, as always, his favorite breath of the day. He leans back against the door for a minute, rubbing his hands over his face. Finally. Finally he gets to pretend the entire rest of the world doesn't exist until he has to go back to work tomorrow morning.Â
He rubs his hands over his face, through his hair, drops his work bag next to the door and tosses his wallet on top of it. Then he bends down and digs inside of it for a moment to pull out the leftover fries he got from the drive-thru on the way home. Munching them on the way to the fridge, he gets himself a soda and then makes his way to the living room.
There, like he expected, is Jonghyun in his usual spot on the arm of the couch. The single patch of a quilt that Taemin cut out for him is wrapped around his shoulders, the earbuds that Taemin fashioned into a tiny set of headphones are over his ears, and Taeminâs tablet is resting in front of him. He uses his whole hand on the touchscreen , pressing and swiping around the surface. When Taemin walks in, he looks up, golden eyes big in his small face.
"Welcome home," he says quietly. It's not anything new from the past couple of months that he's lived here, but it brings a smile to Taemin anyway. There's nothing more comforting to him than his little star friend.Â
 "Thanks," he says. He sits himself down on the couch and grabs his laptop from the coffee table. With one hand he opens it up and with the other hand he offers his carton of fries to Jonghyun. "Want one?" He asks.Â
 "No thank you," Jonghyun replies, not looking up from the tablet. Taemin shrugs. That's what he expected. Jonghyun doesn't need to eat food, and so he usually doesn't, but he does have the ability to so Taemin still likes to offer. Just in case.Â
While his laptop is still loading, he peeks over at the tablet.Jonghyun is in the music app again, organizing songs into different playlists. He's been very interested in the task ever since Taemin first showed him the app. Since then, he's been listening to and downloading all kinds of songs that are far from Taeminâs own tastes. Taemin thinks that it's one of the only human things that Jonghyun really, genuinely enjoys.
 All of his playlists have names, but none of them make any sense to Taemin except for one: the one that's just his name. That one is the one that Jonghyun shares to his music player every couple of weeks, and that one is the one that is full of songs that Jonghyun thinks Taemin would like. And on each song, he's been correct so far. Taemin doesn't know how he does it.
The last time he got some new songs was just yesterday, though, and he doesn't want to be nosy, so he looks back to his own laptop. Wiggling an earbud into the ear that isn't facing Jonghyun, he draws circles on his touchpad until the laptop has fully started up and then clicks right to his video subscriptions to unwind.Â
A while laterâ he's not sure how longâhe's pulled out of a string of dance practice videos by the softest tap on his shoulder. He taps the spacebar to pause and looks up. Jonghyun is standing now, holding his quilt square around himself and looking at Taemin with those soft eyes of his. The tablet is turned off and tucked safely onto the end table next to the couch.
"Can you take me to the bedroom?" He asks. "I want to nap."Â
"Yeah, of course," Taemin says. No problem. He takes his headphones out, puts his laptop onto the couch cushion next to him, and offers Jonghyun his hand. With a polite word of thanks, Jonghyun steps on. He's warm, almost too hot to the touch, and practically weightless.Â
Well, not practically weightless. Entirely weightless. The only pressure that Taemin feels on his palm is from the weight of the quilt. The only thing keeping Jonghyun from floating up to the ceiling is the quilt. Star problems, Taemin guesses.
He carries Jonghyun to the bedroom carefully, roll stepping and holding his wrist with his free hand to make it as smooth and steady as possible for him. As they get closer to the bedroom and farther away from the lamplight of the living room, the warm glow that Jonghyun emits becomes more noticeable. He's a little ball of light in Taemin's hand , soft and cozy, and when he steps into the room he doesn't bother to flip the light switch.
Jonghyun gives him another quiet thank you when he sets him down on top of the dresser. Over the past couple of months, the two of them have been working together to turn it into more of a comfortable living space for the little star. Clearing Taemin's stuff off of the top, emptying out the top left drawer, filling it up with Jonghyuns new things. Taemin even pulled on the knowledge of the one semester of woodshop class he took in high school to install a little trap door and ladder that goes from the top of the dresser into the drawer so Jonghyun wouldn't have to ask Taemin to let him in every time.
He's working on creating a nice Jonghyun size wooden house to sit on top of the dresser too, but for now, he's just nestled a nice comfortable cat bed in front of the window for him. Jonghyun has also made himself a little nest from a couple of Taemin's old scarves and cut off sleeves inside of his drawer, and that's where he's going now. Taemin opens his trapdoor for him and, as his glowing little head disappears through the hole, smiles, "sleep well."
Glancing back over his shoulder as he leaves the room, he smiles again at the nice orange glow he can see through the crack around the drawer.Â
Then, yawning, he heads back to the couch to finish watching his videos. He hits up his friends when he's done, popping on his headset and turning on the tv when they convince him to play a couple of video games. Then it's time for him to throw something together for dinner, and then to get outside and jog around the block before it gets scary late instead of cool late. Once he gets back, he does his daily stretches and then sits in the middle of the living room with his face in his hands for a solid 5 minutes before he decides that he doesn't want to do the rest of his workout and just goes straight to making himself his bedtime smoothie.Â
 With that, he peeks carefully into the bedroom and then walks in when he finds that Jonghyun has finished his nap. He's out of his drawer, in his cat bed, chin in his arms as he gazes out the window. He glances at Taemin for a second before looking back outside. Taemin grabs his rolly chair from his desk to be next to his dresser so he can look out the window with him for a little bit.Â
"Want some?" He asks, offering his smoothie. Jonghyun looks at it quietly. He takes his time to think, like always, and then lifts his eyes and asks, "what is it?â
"Um," Taemin says. "Banana, strawberry yogurt, cinnamon, vanilla protein powder, milk." He swirls it around the cup a little bit as he lists off the ingredients. "It's a little thick," he adds. It was a big banana. Again, Jonghyun takes a while to answer. Taemin pulls out his phone after a minute to keep himself entertained while he waits.Â
It unsettled him a little bit, at first. Jonghyuns tendency to really take his time considering his replies. At first, Taemin thought Jonghyun was ignoring him, or that he had upset the little star in some way. It's a special kind of silence that Jonghyun has. Not a non-verbal kind, exactly. It took Taemin a long time to finally understand what it was.
It's the kind of silence that stems naturally from infinite patience. The kind of time needed to consider from someone that is used to spending an infinite amount of time doing nothing but infinitely considering. When Taemin thinks about it, for someone that only fell down from the sky 3 months ago, the speed at which Jonghyun thinks things through now has to be off the charts.Â
Eventually, he feels Jonghyuns small hand on his finger and when he looks up, Jonghyun nods at him. Taemin smiles back, humming, "mmkay.â
He opens Jonghyuns drawer and pulls out one of the tiny ceramic mugs he ordered for him online. Carefully, he pours a couple drops of smoothie into it and hands it to Jonghyun. Jonghyun takes it, sniffs it, and then tries a tiny, hesitant sip. Then he takes another, and then he turns back to the window, head nestled back into his arms, still holding on to the mug.Â
He likes it.
Proud of himself, somehow, Taemin smiles into his cup as he takes his own drink. It's like every time that he shows Jonghyun a human thing and Jonghyun likes it he wins an award.Â
 He scoots closer to the window on his rolly chair, putting his cup on it so he doesn't have to hold it. Outside, the sun is long gone and the only light comes from the street lamp on the sidewalk. Wind rustles the leaves of his growing pepper plants and the neighborâs big magnolia tree. Every now and again a car or someone walking their dog will make their way past the window. In the sky, stars twinkle faintly between patches of void.
Taemin finds himself transfixed on those for a while. Even after he finishes his smoothie and puts it off to the side, he puts his chin in his hand and stares up at each of them. Each one of them,a tiny pinprick of gas. Each one of them a distant little soul.
He glances down at Jonghyun. His attention is fixed upward, steady, resolute. Not once does he lower it to look at anything else on the ground. If Taemin leans just right, he can see the stars reflected in his golden eyes.
"Do you miss them?"
 The question comes out of him before he realizes that he was thinking it. Once he processes it, though, he knows that he meant it and he lets it hang between them without taking it back.Â
Jonghyun turns to look at him slowly. He blinks those big eyes of his just as slowly. Taemin meets his gaze calmly.Â
Jonghyun doesn't often answer questions about being a star. Almost never, actually. But he never gets upset at Taemin for asking, either.Â
It's a long moment that they sit there, the two of them, looking at each other. Then Jonghyun turns away, looking back at the stars. "They don't miss me," he says.Â
 And the fact that he answered, let alone that quickly, let alone with something like that, is what surprises Taemin. So much that he replies immediately himself without even taking a second to think it through: "Well, there's an infinite amount of them. Statistically, some of them have to."Â
Jonghyun doesn't respond. Even to acknowledge that he heard Taemin. Taemin scratches his cheek, turning back to the stars himself. That's fair, he guesses. Except, he realizes after a moment, "that wasn't my question, though." he says it to the window, mumbles it more to himself than to Jonghyun. He doesn't expect an answer. He doesn't get one, either.
Not until over an hour later when he's finally nestling himself underneath his bed covers. He plugs his phone into the speakers on his headboard and opens up his podcast app, selecting the soft D&D one that he usually falls asleep to. Then he hands it up to Jonghyun, letting him add whatever podcasts he likes into the queue for after Taemin falls asleep. Before he can take his hand away, Jonghyun gently touches his finger.
"I don't know," he says, and then, when Taemin frowns at him, confused, adds, "if i miss them or not. I would have to think about it more." He opens his mouth again after that, like he has more to say, but he hesitates. It's another long minute before he says, "I do know that i'm happier down here with you, though."
"Oh," Taemin replies. He turns a yawn into his pillow. "Well. Thank you. And," he says. He doesn't really know how to reply to that and he's a little too tired to be having a conversation like this anyway. "Take your time, little star."Â
Closing his eyes, rubbing his cheek into his pillow, he doesn't see Jonghyun nod, but he does hear and smile when he says, "sleep well, little human."

After
Summary: Arthur is heartened to have Y/N back by his side. But moving forward isn't as simple as he'd daydreamed.
Warnings: Adult situations, Swearing
Words: 3,391
A/N: This request comes from @jokerownsmysoulâ! It's a continuation of Ch. 23 of Watch What Happens and takes off right after the last paragraph. Funnily enough, when Karen originally beta'd that chapter she said, "Where's their conversation? Oh, well, I guess it's implied." đ Special thanks to Domino, aka @thegirlwhoâ, (who also wanted their conversation đ) for sharing her point of view and helping me see things from a different perspective.
A good portion of my life is the exploding head emoji right now, so it's been a while since I've posted. However, I'm still here. Still writing. Still trying. Work on the new multi-chapter continues. If you've got any requests, let me know. Your patience, support, and you mean a lot to me. Thank you.
Nimble fingers twined through his loose, brown curls, a gentle tug as lips met and parted, met and parted. Her body surrounding that soft, most intimate part of him was visceral. Warm and wet. "I love you" fell from her mouth. Once, twice, more than the walls of his apartment had ever heard. He swallowed but was unable to murmur an appropriate reply. She came back, his mind affirmed. She came back.
Shit, I haven't mopped for a week.
Arthur braced himself on his knees and elbows to look down at her. The notched collar of Y/N's blouse had somehow remained uncrumpled. Strands of her hair fanned out messily over the beige, aged hexagons of the kitchen linoleum. Her tears had reduced to stains on her flushed cheeks. He brushed them away with the back of his knuckles. She'd said he hadn't hurt her, that she was happy. Both good things. If he could figure out the next step...
His eyes flitted back and forth between hers, brows pinched. Moving to kneel, he tucked himself back into his briefs, pulled his light blue pajama bottoms over his rear, then ran his hands along his thighs. "Have you had dinner?"
Buoyant laughter left her as she propped herself on her forearms. "I'm famished. Especially after that." She extended her hand and he accepted it gladly. When she started to pull herself up, he grabbed the other. Her kitten-heels slid the weave rug along the floor; it took some effort for her to get her footing. Once she stood, she tied the drawstring of his pants and adjusted her skirt. "Be right back," she said and scurried to the bathroom.
The thud of the door closing cleared the awe from head. He'd rather have kept it. Changes in mood were typical as of late. The bliss of her return was already twisting into dread. No longer consumed by the need to be inside her, his mind conjured questions, too many to brush off. He turned the knob of the toaster over. Studied the orange glow of its heating element. Had charity - or worse, pity - caused her return? Had distress afflicted her as deeply as it had him? Had she thought of him half as much as he'd thought of her?
Was she going to abandon him again?
He suddenly felt very silly and quite small for allowing himself a modicum of relief. Nothing had been clarified. By having a quickie on the floor after they'd barely exchanged a word, he'd set himself up to be hurt. The way he had when he'd kissed Helen, or when he'd considered Randall his friend, or when he'd believed, for one foolish minute, that Murray might be kind. He flinched against the fury simmering in his stomach. That same panic and anger from when Y/N had walked out of his apartment and, he'd been convinced, his life. He clutched the counter's curved edge so hard his fingertips went numb.
But then she curled herself into his side and squeezed him tight about the waist. Her blithe bearing was almost enough to quiet his tumult. "Anything I can help with?"
"No." He moved to dig through the freezer. Beans and franks with a brownie. English style fish 'n' chips. His mother's favorite, meatloaf. Only the teal packaging made them appealing. He grimaced at the meager offerings. He snatched one from the door, held it out with some trepidation. It was possible the gel-like gravy, slices of turkey roll, and drowned stuffing wouldn't put Y/N off. "Um, this was on sale. I bought a few."
"It's perfect." She accepted the carton and tore it open. "I heard a song on the radio yesterday that made me think of you."
"Oh yeah?" He closed the door of the toaster and set the timer with a flick of the wrist.
"The man was singing that his name was Carnival. That's your clown name, right?" She chuckled, dragged the black, wooden stool from under the counter, and perched on it. "It reminded me of the subway." A flirty pinch to his abdomen. "And that I still have to see one of your performances."
Arthur scoffed and averted his gaze, struggled to push through his anxiety and enjoy her. But he wasn't the type of man to let questions lie. When he'd gotten the courage to ask Y/N on a date, he'd taken the risk. When he'd read Penny's letter, he'd hopped on the first train to Wayne Manor. After the confrontation in Wayne Hall, he'd gone to Arkham and stolen that wretched file.
His curiosity tended to pick wounds that hadn't yet healed over.
The warmth of her hand met his back. "Thank you for giving me time."
The tenderness of her tone loosened the clench of his jaw. But he still couldn't bring himself to look at her. He'd done what she'd requested, because he'd feared mistakes would drive her further away, not because he'd wanted to or understood. He wondered if someone without a mental illness would have behaved differently. She'd pleaded with him to listen, kissed him goodbye, then left like it was nothing.
Whatever the case, her appreciation felt wrong. He didn't need gratitude. He needed answers. He inhaled sharply. "Why did you go?"
She traced the knobs of his spine. "I had to figure out the best way to be with you."
"Am I that hard to be with?" he bit out.
"Of course not. That's not what I said."
He gulped and released a ragged breath. "It broke my fucking-" He faltered when his voice cracked.
"Arthur, I didn't want to hurt you. I'm sorry." Her embrace was tight, a welcome pressure on his ribs despite the ache. Her palm slid up his sternum. "I was afraid to do more harm than good." He should have contradicted her, told her she was crazy if she believed loving him would damage him. But he stopped himself when she nuzzled his bicep. It was a while before she cleared her throat. "I love you more than I imagined possible." She giggled, then, and sniffed. "Which isn't bad for six weeks, Mr. Fleck."
Tears threatened as his eyelids fluttered. He managed to keep them at bay, covering her hand with his to distract himself. He pressed it tighter to him, until he thought her fingers might break through his chest. Finally, he met her stare. Found it full of love and what might have been joy at being together. In that moment, he knew nothing would ever separate his heart from hers.
~~~~~
"Christmas is coming up. Let me know what you'd like to do."
Arthur's slight nod was typical of their conversation this evening. Well, that wasn't quite fair. More like half of it. He'd been vacillating between bouts of confidence and timidity, with the latter tending to win out. He'd put his arm around her, examined the latest issue of TV Guide, and asked what she'd preferred to watch. She'd let him choose; he'd picked a three-hour variety show. Minutes later, he'd been squished into the corner of the sofa, legs neatly crossed with his hands clasped in his lap. She'd risen to refresh their ice teas, and he'd halted her with a kiss to her knuckles and his handsome grin. Upon her return, he'd focused on the floor and kept quiet. The changes were difficult to predict.
At least the periods of stillness made it easy for her to reflect, even as those reflections weren't entirely pleasant. She'd had faith in his ability to take care of himself and his judgment to reach out to her if he was in crisis. And while she had no regrets about taking five days to ensure she could sustain their relationship, she lamented the pain it had caused him. She'd detected it in his stiff posture in the kitchen. Seen it in his glistening eyes. Sensed it in his inconsistent reluctance to be touched.
It had been hard for her, too. The absence of their nightly calls, of shared laughter, of his presence had been keen. She would have returned to him without receiving his letter. But the ink on the page, with its occasional misspellings and earnest admissions ("I don't kno if I'm doing this right but I want to try. Maybe you want to try with me, to?") had prompted her to run to the subway before she'd taken off her coat. Confirmed that despite their differences, them being opposite in many ways, their hearts were the same.
He perked up slightly when the next performer came on, an old man from Whitefish, Montana and his paper mache ventriloquist dummy. Y/N's attention drifted to Arthur as he leaned forward onto his knees. Though the act was nothing special - terrible jokes, drinking water while the puppet talked, strumming a ukulele as it sang - his face crinkled in amusement. "They just have regular people on there," he said. "I haven't seen anyone from Gotham. I should try out."
Thankful he was focused on the show and not her, she pursed her lips. Had he forgotten how Murray had gone? Or Pogo's? Then again, he'd believed both had gone great. And she wanted him to succeed. To strive. To dream. His determination impressed her, made her proud. She searched for a truthful but kind answer. "Once you've got a set you're comfortable delivering, sure. Would you send a tape? I have a recorder you can borrow."
"I wrote a lot this week. Not many jokes but I've done some brainstorming." He flicked ash from his cigarette into the pink ashtray on the coffee table. Splayed his fingers and rubbed his palms together. The bob of his Adam's apple was faint in the dim, blue light. "Do you- Do you want to sleep over?" He turned to her.
Elated, she smiled widely and shifted to sit side-saddle. "I'd love to, but I didn't bring any clothes."
"Hold on." He rose from the couch and disappeared into the bedroom. After a minute, she followed to find him digging through a couple of cardboard boxes. Boxes filled with his mother's things, she realized. She'd have to follow-up for details, find out what had happened to ensure the transition would go as smoothly as possible. Though the relationship between him and Penny was complicated, change wouldn't be easy.
He held out a threadbare, light-blue, nylon nightdress with ruffled cap sleeves and a ribbon at the neckline. "Here."
Y/N cocked her head. The gown was exceedingly narrow, its seams stretched. If she had been inclined to wear it, it wouldn't have fit. Arthur's hopeful expression made it plain he did not see the oddity in offering his romantic partner his mother's nightwear. It was logical, she supposed. His years had been spent living hand to mouth. He didn't have any siblings. Hand-me-downs - a spare sweater here, a pair of socks there - would have come from Penny. A tad strange, to be sure. But poverty had a way of making the abnormal normal.
"Thanks," Y/N said. "But I'll be fine in my panties." At his pout, she closed the inches between them. "If you have a t-shirt, I'll take it." His brows lifted and he gave a toothy smile, comprised of surprise and conceit. The shirt he retrieved from the living room was plain and white. The lightly stained armpits didn't bother her, nor did its loose fit. It was part of his work outfit, he explained. And he claimed she looked cute in it.
Her sleep was restful, deep, better than it had been the last two weeks. Arthur being nearby and her certainty when she'd lain her head on his pillow had calmed her. She didn't think about the Wayne Foundation. She didn't worry about how to pursue a future with him. She didn't waste her energy being afraid of powerlessness. Warmth filled her, aided by contentment and cozy blankets.
When the mattress sunk beneath his weight, she didn't check the clock. Judging by the speed with which her drowsiness dissipated and the blackness of the room, it was likely around 4:00 AM. She'd gotten a solid five hours. With a slight stretch and mewl, she blinked up at him. Her elbow accidentally bumped his chest. "Aren't you tired?"
"No." He palmed her shoulder, caution palpable in every movement. Then his caress dragged down her upper arm, hovered over her breast.
She stroked his stubbled cheek. "What are you up to?"
"Making sure you're really here."
It was unclear if he was kidding. The extent of his imaginations or hallucinations - if that's what he experienced - weren't yet known to her. She recalled how he'd clutched her jacket, the way he'd fiddled with her wall calendar and coffee table when he'd come to her for help. Tactility oriented him, as it had her father before the final stages of his diagnosis. And, outside of acute episodes, Loving Someone with... had advised her to carry-on as always.
Laughing gently, she entwined their legs. "Where else would I be?"
"I don't know," he scoffed. He tucked his chin. Silence permeated the room, interrupted only by their exhalations. Eventually, he spoke, his rasp bashful and desperate. "Are you going to leave me again?"
"No." She pressed his hand to her breast, tried to soothe his tremble away. "I like it here."
She could hear his smile in the dark. He dipped his head to capture her lips. He kissed her and kissed her and kissed her again. She kissed him back until she ached with emptiness. Until she felt him hard against her hip.
"Y/N?" he breathed into her mouth.
Her pulse throbbed in her ears. "What?"
His forehead met hers and she shivered all over. "I wanna make you come."
~~~~~
Drip, drip, drip. A calming, predictable sound. The pungent smell of generic brew wafted to his nostrils, slightly burnt but familiar. Coffee. He was making his girlfriend coffee before she went to work. After they'd made love and snoozed until sunrise. After she'd admonished him for smoking in bed, then caressed his flaccid sex and teased him about his "secret freckle." (He'd covered his face in horror and delight and promised himself that one day he'd find a "secret" on her.) He hummed along to the radio, though he disliked the song, and whistled while he filled their cups. Once he'd added three sugars to his and the last of his milk to hers, he padded to the bath. He leaned on the doorframe, an imitation of nonchalance.
In her apparent rush to get to him, Y/N hadn't simply neglected to pack a change of clothing. She was swiping his stick of deodorant under her arms with haste. When she grabbed his comb and tried to tame her hair, he didn't mind. She declined his offer of Penny's eyeliner and mascara but that was fine. She didn't need them, anyway.
As she buttoned her pleated blouse, he giggled. He'd heard jokes about women going to work in identical outfits two days in a row. The innuendo had escaped him until now. A thrill went through him at finally getting the joke. He blushed. "You're dressed the same."
"I left Patricia a message that I'd be late. It won't surprise anyone." She accepted the proffered mug and took a long drink. A mischievous look as she arched a brow. "She'll want details."
Arthur's eyes widened and he rubbed his forehead. This would take getting used to.
She squeezed a line of toothpaste onto her index finger. "What are you doing today? Any gigs?"
He shifted his weight from one foot to the other, braced his arm on the wall. "I have to call the hospital. Figure out where to send my mother." He was glad to begin the process of moving on, moving forward. To start building a life of his own. Freed from the woman who hadn't protected him. Paired with the woman who understood him most. Still. He was daunted.
After a few seconds of attempting to brush her teeth, Y/N rinsed her mouth and washed her hands. "The social worker should be able to help. There must be homes specializing in lobotomy patients, given how common they were. Actually..." She stepped to him and wrapped her arms around his middle. "I bet there's an advocacy group for the elderly in Gotham. I'll call around on my break. We can have lunch and review their recommendations."
The tightness in his chest prevented him from holding her gaze. His longings for kindness didn't make it any less peculiar. He hoped he would be able to accept it without skepticism soon, like a normal person. That he wouldn't wait for the other shoe to drop. He tried to fight his negative thoughts rather than give into them.
But he couldn't. Not yet. "Why are you doing this?" he mumbled.
She gave a small shrug, as if what she was about to say wasn't a miracle. "I love you. Why wouldn't I?" Before he could react, she walked to the front door and slipped on her heels. "Besides, we should plan this weekend. Shall We Dance is showing at the Monarch. We could catch it and have dinner at my place. And there's a doctor I found for you - when you're feeling up to it. We'll go over the particulars."
The offer to see the film, one he knew every number of, was an obvious attempt to butter him up for that discussion. It would work. "That sounds nice." He went to her side and took her coat off the wall mounted rack, guided her arms into the sleeves
"Arthur," she started, zipping her jacket. Her pretty eyes met his. "I wasn't going to end our relationship. I don't want you to fear that."
He winced and clutched his hands together, annoyed she had raised the subject again after the wonderful morning they'd shared. "I believe you now."
"Back home, I made mistakes. That's why I needed time." She shook her head. "The thought of repeating them with you..."
Mistakes? What kind of mistakes was she referring to? She'd said her divorce had been mutual. A big fight with her sister or mother hadn't been mentioned. She almost never talked about what had happened with her father, other than to name his diagnosis and state she'd gone on medication. She was a good woman. Whatever she had done, it couldn't be that terrible. Not half as bad as the notions that wormed their way into his brain like a broken record.
Then she continued. "I didn't know what to do then. But I think I do now. " She nuzzled his sideburn and carded her fingers through his hair. "If I see you walking towards a cliff, I won't follow. I'll pull you back before you get there."
He stared at her, blinking rapidly as he tried to hold himself together. Her words felt like the kind of fantasy he'd created to ease his misery. To try to convince himself he should exist another day. That he should stick around. Multiple hospitalizations had proven that hadn't always worked. But this was new. Real. Maybe that reality would allow him, for a little while, to be all right.
He cupped her face, drifted his thumbs over her cheeks. She leaned into him, into the kisses he placed on her brow, her nose, her mouth. His lips parted but all he could manage was a shaky exhale. The press of his face to hers.
She must have noticed he was overwhelmed. It frustrated him - he wanted to find a way to articulate himself. But her peck to his jaw, her hand covering his, made him feel safe. "Meet you at my office at one?"
"Mm-hmm." He nodded into her hair, not quite ready to let go.
Gently, she pulled away from his grasp, took her purse, and opened the door. She smiled. "Call if you need anything."
At that, she strode down the hall in the direction of the elevator. He stepped out and watched until she disappeared around the corridor's corner. He rested against the door and closed his eyes, wishing harder than he ever had before that every morning would be like this for the rest of his life.

Part 1
Chapter 2
While on the highway towards his home, Jensen thought now would be a good time to try and get to know his teenage daughter. He leaned over and tapped her shoulder. Harper jumped a bit and pulled off her headphones.
Jensen smiled and spoke, "Sorry, I didn't realize you were that jumpy. I don't remember you being like that."
Harper shrugged and sat up, figuring Jensen wanted to have a conversation.
Jensen continued, "So I thought we could play a game. It's still about 15 minutes until we get to the house. Maybe this will help us pass the time."
Harper nodded but refused to look towards Jensen.
"So the game is this: I ask any question and you answer, then you ask me a question and I'll answer. Sound good?"
Another nod from Harper.
Jensen smiled, "Okay now, let me think." He looked around before a light bulb went off in his head, "Music. What do you listen to now?"
Harper shrugged and quietly spoke, "Pretty much anything. Rock, Country, Pop, Funk. I don't really like Rap though."
Jensen chuckled, "Yeah Rap isn't my first choice either. I'm shocked you still listen to Country considering you haven't been a country girl in 5 years."
"7. It's been 7 years, Dad," Harper whispered.
Jensenâs eyes widened and he sighed, "I didn't realize it's been that long. Sorry," he cleared his throat, "Your turn. Ask me a question."
Harper looked out the passenger window, "When did you get the truck? Last time I was here you had a Jeep."
"Oh, I got rid of the Jeep. It cost more to fix than to get a new vehicle. And I thought having a truck would be something different," Jensen said while turning off the highway to an exit.
Harper saw the exit and suddenly sat up, "Wait you live like 10 miles from here. Why get off at this exit?"
"Oh, I guess I forgot to tell you that I moved," replied Jensen.
Harper looked over at Jensen, "It's, um, it's your turn by the way."
Jensen nodded, "Hmm. Oh, how about dance? Do you still do ballet?"
Harper rolled her eyes and looked out the window, "I haven't danced since I was a kid. I gave it up about 3 months after not hearing from you anymore."
Jensen looked at Harper, "Don't tell me you quit because of me."
Harper shrugged at him.
Jensen leaned back, "That's such a shame. You were such a beautiful dancer."
"Well, people change. They grow up and find new hobbies and activities I guess."
Jensen sighed, "I'm sorry, Harper."
Harper sighed and shrugged, "My turn. How's Supernatural?"
"Well, it's funny that you mention that. We just wrapped up filming for season 15, the final season."
Harper whipped her head to him, "Wow, I didn't realize you finished it. I thought you would be on the show for years."
Jensen laughed, "Well, we all agreed 15 seasons is a good stopping point."
Harper sat back, "I didn't realize you've been on the show for as long as I've been alive."
"Crazy isn't it? That's how I met your mom you know," replied Jensen with a grin.
Harper smiled, "I know. That was my favorite story she told. You were filming the first episode. She was a make-up artist fresh out of college."
"She added way too much foundation to my face on the first day."
"And she felt so bad because you looked like an Oompa Loompa on camera."
"So I told her I would take her to dinner as a forgiveness."
"And the rest was history," both Jensen and Harper said at the same time.
The looked at each other and started laughing. Tears were running down their faces from how hard they laughed.
Harper chuckled a bit and looked back at Jensen after wiping her eyes, "I haven't laughed that hard in a while."
Jensen smiled at Harper, "You probably won't really like hearing this right now, but you even laugh like her."
The smile immediately fell from Harper's face. She looked out the window again and sighed.
Jensen's smile fell too. He sighed, leaning back into his seat, "I shouldn't have said that, I'm sorry."
Harper shook her head, "It's fine. I've just been hearing nothing but that stuff for a week. How I look like her, sound like her, act like her. It kind of hurts now that she's gone."
Jensen laid a hand on Harper's shoulder, "I won't do it anymore. And if I do by accident, you can call me out on it."
Harper turned to Jensen, "Thanks, Dad."
Jensen put his hand back on the wheel and turned into a neighborhood. Harper's jaw hit the ground at the size of the houses.
They were huge! They were at least 3 story homes with a guest house, a pool, and a huge backyard.
The last time Harper was in Austin, Jensen's house was a 2 bedroom, 1 bath small home in the middle of nowhere.
Now he lived in a mansion home!
Jensen pulled into the driveway of one of the homes. The first observation Harper had was the second car in the driveway.
Jensen must've read her mind, "That's Danneel's car."
Harper replied, "Right, I forgot you got married like 10 years ago."
Jensen chuckled, "I'm surprised you forgot considering you were there."
Harper was 5 years old. Jensen had his wedding in New York, and had Harper as his flower girl. Her mom was invited, but she felt weird about going and didn't show up. Danneel welcomed Harper as her stepdaughter, and at the time Harper was happy about the idea.
That was the first and only time Harper had seen Danneel.
With how things are now, Harper didn't feel comfortable being around Danneel. Though she is her stepmother, Harper knows Danneel cannot replace her biological mother.
Jensen put the car in park and shut off the engine, "Before you ask, Danneel is with Genevieve getting their hair and nails done. She won't be home for a few more hours."
Harper nodded, unbuckled her seat belt, and opened the car door. Once she stepped outside, she grabbed her backpack from the floor and shut her door. Jensen got out of the truck and walked to the back of the car.
He reached for Harper's duffel, but Harper beat him to it, grabbing it herself, "I got it."
Jensen nodded to her and walked towards his front door. Harper trailed behind, looking around at the house.
Jensen unlocked the front door and opened it for Harper. She walked inside and again her jaw hit the ground.
She thought the outside was big, but the inside? Holy shit!
Her eyes immediately fell to the open living room. The entire back wall was a window with a back porch and a beautiful view. The bright, royal blue sectional caught her eyes right off the bat. There were small pillows on the ground with two chairs next to 3 acoustic guitars. There also were glass ball lights hanging from the ceiling, and the ceiling had the rafters exposed, which was gorgeous. The artwork on the wall looked locally bought as well.
Jensen walked inside and shut the door behind him. He walked over and saw Harper's jaw on the floor. He laughed and closed her mouth, "You'll catch flies with your mouth open like that."
Harper shook her head and blinked, "Your house is so...big."
Jensen laughed again, "This is just the living room. Come on, let me show you your bedroom."
Harper followed Jensen past the kitchen area and the small bar, up the small set of stairs to a dining table and a fireplace. Past that was another couch with a large flat screen TV mounted on the wall.
A small hallway was to the left of this room. Jensen walked in front of her and opened the door at the end of the hallway. He turned to Harper and nodded his head towards the room.
She walked inside and looked around. Jensen walked in behind her and leaned against the wall. Harper walked up to the bed and dropped her duffel and backpack.
Jensen cleared his throat, "It used to be our guest room, hence the no decorations and the plain bedding. But if you'd like, tomorrow we can go shopping. Maybe even get you some new clothes-"
"I like my clothes," said Harper interrupting him.
Jensen was stunned a bit, "Oh, um. Alright. Well, why don't you unpack and I can make lunch? Are you hungry?"
Harper shook her head, "Not really."
Jensen nodded, "Okay then. Go ahead and unpack, rest up a bit. I'll uh, I'll let you be," and with that, Jensen left.
Harper looked around her new room again and sat down on the bed. Tears filled her eyes almost instantly. She reached into her backpack and pulled out a picture frame wrapped in a scarf, her mother's scarf.
Unwrapping the frame, she set the scarf aside and looked at the photo. It was a picture Harper took of her mother swinging on a rope swing from a tree. The smile on her face, her hair from the wind. She could still hear her mother's laughter.
A single tear fell on the framed picture.
She stared at the photo for a bit. A moment frozen in time. Too bad there weren't more of those.
Harper hugged the picture close to her chest then set it on the nightstand next to her bed. She took a deep breath and sighed. She looked at her bags on the bed and set them on the ground. She took off her combat boots and her jacket from her waist. Afterwards she took her phone from her back pocket and set it on the nightstand as well as her headphones.
She then laid down on the bed and curled into herself, sobbing quietly into the pillow.
