Does anyone find it weird that in "Truth, Trivia, and 'Trina" Katrina introduced herself and mentioned that her friends call her Trina, but after a few episodes everyone just calls her Katrina? Like it was used for like 3 episodes and then everyone forgot.
Sorry this has been bugging me for years

The Adventures in Odyssey commercials are now in one place
Two years ago, when we started covering Adventures in Odyssey on this podcast, we knew we were going to cause A.J. some damage. As you can hear in his comercials for Whit's Endless Summer, he has gone totally insane. Now all of those commercials (over an hour total) have been stitched together, and are available for FREE over on youtube.

"We can't ground them from church, there's probably a verse in Leviticus about that."
CONNIE KENDALL I LOVE YOU
I've said that exact thing before about other situations, also someone should have told my parents not to ground me from church when I was a kid

things about adventures in odyssey album 10 episode 12 "the homecoming" that got to me this 100000th listen:
when whit brings up richard to tom the first time, tom says "i know you had your big adventure in chicago and now you're pals" in the tone of voice that you use for stories that you've already heard 20 times and i am so enchanted by the idea that whit got dropped into a sewer, bonked on the head, then held at gunpoint, and came home, on all levels but physical, wearing a "richard maxwell fanclub founder" shirt. and would not shut up about it. enchanted
pretty gay to say "unfortunately he's a very hard person to forget". someone's been up until 3 am staring at the ceiling going >:( because he can't get richard maxwell out of his head. lmao
the sound design in the lucy & richard apology scene is sooooo good ugh...... like near the end, when lucy starts to cry, that loud concrete scrape sound paints a WHOLE picture (richard reached out to touch her, she physically stepped back, it makes you imagine other details: her hugging herself or swiping his hand away, maybe he jerks back when her voice raises) it's just a good scene and it makes me so so sad
i love that whit actually gets angry with tom in the tom apology scene. whit doesn't really get angry that much and it says a lot to me that this is one of the places where he's so audibly frustrated. i wish i wish i WISH whit could have been in dbd, overall it's probably better that he wasn't but i miss his dynamic with richard SO bad
on that note, they're both so snarky at each other in their first scene. "i guess you got my note" "well i'm not here for the view" okay old man!! i heard you laughing yourself silly over exploding priceless government property with your new pet sewer gremlin!!!
lucy says her parents thought it was a good idea for her to see richard....... now. i love richard. i've made him a significant portion of my personality and creative life. however. if i had a [???]-year-old daughter who had gotten involved with a college-age career computer criminal, not only been used by him but also essentially blown up to the point of hospitalization, i am. well. not so sure that i would want her to speak to him. especially not without at least me or my spouse present.

AiO Thought of the Week
Age is truly just a foreign concept in Odyssey and there are no true answers but here are my headcannons:
Katrina is older than Eugene from somewhere to a few months upto a year and a half.
Eugene was 17-18 when he was hired at Whit’s End but is widely assumed to be older because of his voice and academic level but he 100% looked his age.
The writers said on the official pod Jay's age is a dependent variable. So I think when Jay is hanging out with Zoey, Buddy, or any of the other middle schoolers he is 13/14. With the rare exception, Jay is otherwise 17 however his appearance is still skued toward the 13/14.(this might be because of his height but that's a different headcannon) These numbers only apply to album 58 and beyond before that he is younger and is more consistent in age.
Jason is in his 40s.
Connie still hasn't quite reached her 30s but is almost there. I know she's still earning her degree but if Eugene is any indication 10yrs is not an unreasonable amount of time for a degree from CCCC. Plus I think she's swapped majors like 3 times.
Eugene and Katrina are very early 30s
Whit despite being born in 1925/26 is an ageless being of perpetual Eldersness and is therefore older than anyone in a given room and yet, still possess the ability to out-manuver the authorities both physically and mentally
Jack and Wilson are also ageless beings but not on Whit's level.
Tom lived just out of town and so aged normally, I guess. I have no evidence but I feel like he was born in 1931.
Bernard despite being one of the original "old men that make up Connie’s friend group" is good decade or so younger than Tom and Whit, still way older than Connie though.

How do you guys feel about agent Jillian? Personally, I enjoyed the twist. I'm hoping to see the real Jillian in more episodes. When she was first introduced, I didn't mind her, but she slowly got more annoying to me although she still had her moments. I didn't enjoy how the show kept trying to force Jason and Jillian together as a couple before the reveal though. Jason probably wouldn't even want to be friends with Jillian let alone a couple. "Flighty" Jillian just doesn't seem very compatible with Jason.
Although I see plenty of potential post reveal, albeit with a little more of Jillian's character fleshed out independently of Jason would be nice before the show tries to pair them together.

Just jumped into the 1000 Episode Fan Art link and grabbed Episode 334, The Final Conflict! I have a solid idea for The Final Conflict fanart entry, and I really hope FotF likes it! I grew up with some of the Odyssey cartoons, but it was the Blackgaard Chronicles that got me into the radio program and made me realize that the world AiO takes place in is much larger than the cartoons suggested. And in my opinion, The Blackgaard Chronicles is about hope and despair: Some of the characters are full of hope (Whit, Jack, Jason, etc), Eugene and Richard are somewhere in the middle given their experiences with forgiveness and redemption, and then there's the arc's namesake, who's full of despair (Blackgaard).
To me, Dr. Blackgaard in The Final Conflict is what you get when despair enters a morally broken soul. He wants eternal life, but without the Jesus part, because that would mean changing himself, and that bothers him more than he lets on. I want my piece to convey that brokenness, not enough to concern FotF and be denied, but just enough to show what despair looks like.
And yeah, I'm probably overthinking this arc to a degree, but whenever I hear Earl Boen's performance in the Final Conflict, the word 'despair' tends to come to mind.

Does the Imagination Station have enough sentience of its own to know when a cute girl. (Connie, Aubrey, etc) enter it, so therefore it creates cute boys and flirts with them of its own volition?
Or, does Whit just want to give the programs enough realism that the coding reacts differently depending on the different ages, genders, interests etc that the different subjects have, and therefore a character like Micah is a boy with a crush on Aubrey, but if Jarred did the program it’d be a cute girl named Mary?

call for submissions: whit’s wicked deeds
Tumblr media
i have been challenged in my recent assertion that john avery “whit” whittaker torments children and/or the Woke, up to and including sending them to hell itself. please post instances of times where whit has reigned terror down upon his enemies, preferably including episode numbers
i will start: in episodes 211-212 “the mortal coil,” eugene enters an imagination station program based on whit’s ideological priors and built to simulate the afterlife, so of course being a non-believer he goes directly to hell

(Jellyfish) *after being threatened* Nah. You talk big. Nah. You're ordinary. You're on the side of the angels.
(Richard) Oh, I may be on the side of the angels, but don't think for one second that I am one of them.
