Summer was supposed to be a time of freedom, long nights, and recklessness and there was nobody else who knew this more than Fred and George. Unfortunately for them, it appears that their summer was going to be nothing but seeing the inside of that damn coffee shop. Fred and George rarely ever regretted a prank, but right now, they were starting to think that perhaps slipping Malfoy that candy that made his skin turn Gryffindor red and his hair a golden snitch gold wasn’t worth this. It also taught them that when Malfoy said his father would hear about this, he actually means it - sometimes.
However, no matter how funny the prank was and how much it was worth all the time they spent planning and agonizing to create the final product, it was not worth this. Not worth the wrinkled fingers that lost all feeling after wiping down every single table and counter in the cafe. Not worth the skin of the heat from the coffee machines. Not worth the horrible experience of dealing with customers. Not to mention uncomfortable uniforms. Forced to wear black jeans, black dress shirts, and a ratty old apron ten other people wore before them.
While George grumbled everyday, hoping and wishing for their return to Hogwarts (something nobody expected to hear), Fred’s summer was not a complete waste. He did not realize this when they applied for their job, but this coffee shop tucked into a hidden alleyway of Diagon Alley was often frequented by a rather pretty girl. In her flowing sundresses, her hair cascading down over her shoulders in soft waves. When he first saw her his knees nearly gave out. Then when she turned to leave (lemonade in hand - it was a hot day) and he caught a glimpse of the white ribbon tying her hair into a half-up, half-down style, George had to catch him because his knees did give out. She looked vaguely familiar to him, but he couldn’t exactly place her.
“She’s in our year, a Hufflepuff,” Hermione had told him one day when she and Ron had visited them. They were out gathering ideas for a present for Harry. “She’s quiet, likes to stick to her routine but doesn’t shy away from new opportunities. She’s in my book club and study club. She has such a beautiful voice but she thinks it's horrible - that’s why she is so quiet.” She revealed after Fred pressed her for more information.
Unfortunately for Fred, he has yet to hear that beautiful voice since he never seems to be on the cash when she comes in or someone beats him to it - usually George as a form of twisted amusement. “Hermione was right. She does have a beautiful voice.” George blinked after the first time he took her order. It was later discovered that the reason she hates her voice was because some Slytherins had poked fun at her in First Year, leaving her with an ugly taste in her mouth and horrible self-confidence. Fred could wring their necks, every last one of them.
Anytime Fred had any downtime, he found himself thinking of her. He knew nothing of her but, yet, she consumed every thought and every dream of his. Such as today. It was a horribly humid and dreadful day. Every door to the coffee shop was open, a cooling spell was placed on the shop but it was barely fighting against the stickiness, and the owner even found some muggle fans and set them up. It was slow, barely anyone wanted to leave their houses and if they did, they surely couldn’t even think about sipping on a coffee - even one of their iced ones since the ice would probably melt before they even took their first sip.
But here was Fred, elbows digging into the counter as he hogged one of the fans. His back was facing the entrance as he moved with the fan which was oscillating. George was in the back, doing work back there but Fred was sure he was just sitting in front of that fan. “Bloody hell.” He groaned, pinching his shirt and pulling it away from him. This was torture.
“Excuse me,” A soft, hesitant voice called to him over the rattling of the fan, startling him. Turning around, his eyes widened when she saw who stood at the counter. Hair pulled up into a high ponytail, bangs hanging around her face from where the shorter strands fell out of the ponytail. Even looking right at her, he saw the ribbon she usually wore in her hair. Today’s was a pretty yellow shade, matching the sundress she wore. It was a pale yellow, nothing that jumped right out at you. “Could I get a large lemonade?” She asked him, blinking sweetly as she rolled up to the balls of her white converse. That voice. He was blown away. He was never going to be the same after hearing that beautiful sound. How could he go on with his life knowing that that voice exists and he isn’t hearing it every second of everyday.
“Yes, of course,” He nodded, rushing to the counter, nearly tripping over himself. “George, can you make a large lemonade?” He yelled out back as he typed away on the till. Instantly, George emerged, a large lemonade in hand.
“Here ya go, Y/N. I knew you would be wanting one of these today. Made it once I heard your voice.” He winked at her and Fred contemplated murdering him right there. He actually considered it when she giggled at his twin, but the sound made him stop. Everybody said her voice was the most beautiful sound, which he could agree with all his heart on now that he heard it, but her giggle. Just thinking about making her laugh made him want to lay on his stomach on his bed and kick his feet like Ginny does whenever Harry says hi to her.
“Thank you, George,” She smiled thankfully, holding out her hand. Almost as if under a spell, Fred reached his hand out, palm facing up. With her sweet smile turning to Fred, she dropped a handful of sickles in his palm. Her fingers brushed against the palm of his hand, sending shivers and sparks running through his nerves. “That’s enough for the lemonade and ten sickles for you guys to split for a tip. Thank you, Fred.”
The shock sent to Fred’s system was immense when she said his name. She knew his name. She knew his name. He opened and closed his mouth as she turned on her heel, her skirt flaring up adorably, her ponytail and ribbon flaring up as well and off she went into the dreadful heat, making Fred’s day so much better.
____
It was a rush. Possibly the biggest rush Fred and George have ever experienced at the shop. The queue was running out of the door. Perhaps everyone just now realized that summer was coming to a close and just now decided to emerge from their lazy, hazy, summer daze to enjoy the days. This, of course, made Fred miserable.
Instead of enjoying their time, patrons were making their lives a living hell. And for what? Amusement? What was the reason he had to get yelled at by a man because his coffee was too hot to drink? He questioned if it was possible that these people got some sort of happiness from throwing adult hissyfits and yelling at underpaid, overworked employees. Did they have some sort of odd kink? Did it fill a missing void? Whatever it was, Fred quite frankly did not want to be part of it.
However, when he saw that shining face in the queue, her nose buried in her book as she read so intently. She wore her hair down aside from two locks of hair tied back into a braid, secured by a light blue ribbon today. When he saw her, he froze for a moment. He couldn’t take his eyes off her. The way the sun burned through the dirty windows (that seemed to have fingerprint smudged permanently tattooed on it) and hit her like a golden spotlight. The way her finger absentmindedly stroked the cover of her book as she read.
“Excuse me,” The customer in front of him barked. He jolted back to reality. Frankly, he already was in reality since Y/N was completely gorgeous. There was no fantasy about that. She was perfect. The fantasy was that she had feelings for him or at least thought he was cute. “Did you get my order?” The man, a short, plump man with an angry red nose despite the beautiful summer day they were having, grumbled.
“One medium coffee. Would you like that iced or with anything in it?” Fred asked the normal questions, bracing himself for the normal response he usually received from people with certain mannerisms.
The man’s nose seemed to get even more red. “Of course I don’t. If I wanted it another way, I would have ordered it another way. What do I look like? An idiot? Rowena, you kids these days, needing to have things iced and sweetened. Whatever happened to the good British taste? Black coffee. That is what I want-”
“That will be 3 sickles, Sir.” Fred read the total off, noticing how Y/N glanced up, rolling onto her tiptoes to take note of what was taking so long. He wanted to get this nasty old man out of his line so that she could get on with her day. Her day shouldn’t be wasted in this shop waiting in line.
“Here, keep the change.” The man basically tossed the sickles at Fred. Four sickles.
“Some change,” Fred whispered under his breath, putting three sickles in the till and dropping one in the communal tip jar. That naked a total of five sickles in tips. “Have a nice day, sir,” Fred faked a smile as the man waddled off to the pick-up area, barking at George to hurry up. “I can help whoever is next.” “Two people until her.” Fred thought.
“Hi, could we get two lemonades? Mediums please,” The teen girl giggled, eyes staring up at Fred sweetly. Fred nodded, writing the order down and sliding it along the counter. Harrison, the manager, grabbed it to start making it. “So, we’ll be seeing you at Hogwarts in a couple of weeks, right, George?” She asked with a bat of her eyelashes, still getting his name wrong despite his name tag being basically eye level with her. He could see Y/N look up from her book, snickering slightly behind her book.
“I’m actually Fred. And yes. That will be seven sickles today.” Fred read off their total, holding his hand out for their money.
“Oh, sorry. You both are so handsome, it’s hard to tell you apart.” She flirted with a wink, dropping exactly seven sickles in his hand.
“Have a nice day,” He nodded to them as they wandered off with linked arms to bother George. “Next please!” He just needed to take care of this one customer and then she would be at his cash. Evidently, she noticed this as she was tucking her book into her bag and pulling out her coin wallet. He watched her intently, somehow managing to take the customer’s order and recite the amount of money he needed.
He watched as she counted the sickles she had pulled out before pulling out two more coins before doing some math in her head. He could tell since her eyes flicked around and she used her free hand to wiggle her fingers as if counting on them. “Have a nice day.” He wasn’t even sure what that customer ordered, but he must have done it right.
And up stepped the person he was waiting for. Y/N stepped up with a bounce, smiling brightly at him. He wanted to faint right there. There she was, standing there and it overwhelmed him so much that his nervous system was going haywire on him. “Hi, Freddie!” She seemed to have gotten much more comfortable. She was more bubbly and talkative with him and his brother. She even started to call them by nicknames. It warmed Fred’s heart to the point it might burst.
“Hi, Y/N, what can I get for you today?” He asked, trying to calm his racing heart and malfunctioning nervous system. He was in fight-or-flight with the secret third option: faint.
“Just a large iced coffee. I am trying to finish off the last book on my book club’s summer reading list and I decided I might as well change up the scenery.” She explained, her voice much more even and comfortable. Not the same reluctant, soft voice she had when she first talked to him. And if he thought that voice was beautiful, then this voice was perfect. Alluring. Charming. Cute. Marvelous. Dazzling. Delicate. Stunning. Splendid. Gorgeous. Lovely. Any synonym there was for beautiful because this voice was so much better.
Before he could even tell her the total, she handed him the sickles she had counted out prior to the interaction. She always did it. “Three sickles for the iced coffee and how many for the tip?” He asked, knowing exactly how she worked things.
“Fifteen. Five for everyone who worked today,” She smiled as she rolled up to the balls of her feet - something he found that she did often. The line was gone aside from her and part of Fred wished it would stay away so she could stand there talking to him, but unfortunately someone walked in. “I’ll leave you to it, Fred.” She smiled at him. It appeared sad and part of him hoped that she felt upset about having to part from him.
He watched her walk over to George who held her coffee out to her. Sharing pleasantries, she headed off to one of the many tables. Taking her normal table by the window. “Alright boys. I am heading out, I’ll be back in two hours to close it down.” Harrison told them. That was most likely the last rush of the day. People didn’t tend to frequent the coffee shop near close. They gave him nods as he left.
Thirty minutes and they hadn’t stopped. Anytime they saw a lull coming, once they served one customer, two more would come. Just as Fred turned his back, taking a deep breath as the attack stopped, he heard the approaching footsteps of someone. He wanted to roll his eyes and outwardly show the resentment he had felt, but he didn’t feel the same hostility he had felt with the last few customers. Part of him should have known why before he turned around, but sometimes he isn’t always on the ball.
As he turned around, he was pleasantly shocked to see Y/N standing there at the counter again, her head down as she inspected the wet patch on her blue sundress. After a few seconds of silence, she looked up, hand hovering over the patch on the center of her torso. “Hey, Fred, again,” She smiled, a bit awkwardly as she didn’t usually come up after she got her order unless it was to say bye to the boys (something rather new after she got comfortable with them). “Do you think I could get a napkin? That last customer who left kind of knocked into me a bit and I got the last bit of iced coffee on me-” She cut herself off as Fred reacted without thinking, grabbing the back of his brother’s black shirt and ripping it off of him.
“Here you go, Y/N.” He handed it to her. Shocked, she took it from him. George just stood there, blinking at his brother as if he had gone completely mad. Fred considered this a sign that perhaps, working nearly every single day of the summer had made him cracked in the head. Slowly, looking at the face Y/N was making, he came back into his body. It was as if seeing Y/N in need made him go into autopilot, doing whatever he needed to to resolve the issue Y/N was facing.
“Fred, what in Godric's name?” George questioned, still a bit shocked that his brother completely ripped the back of his shirt off, leaving just his sleeves and the front. It was silent as the three of them all looked at each other, trying to make sense of the situation. Fred couldn’t even remember his brain telling him to do that, let alone any thought of ripping his brother’s shirt.
The silence was broken by the sweet giggles of Y/N. Fred nearly gave himself whiplash turning his head to look at her. There she stood, on the other side of the counter, one hand holding the tattered shreds of George’s shirt, the other one hovering over her mouth as her giggled turned into laughter, eyes crinkling closed. “Oh my Helga,” She pressed her lips together, her purely magnetic eyes opening and meeting Fred’s with a zing being sent through Fred’s body like electricity (which this summer, he discovered was pretty dangerous). “I needed that, Freddie. That guy who bumped my arm as a complete arse-” Fred blinked, that might have been the most foul he had ever heard her talk, though Hermione had told him she had said much worse about some of the guys in their year. “You know exactly what to do to make people laugh, it’s an amazing gift,” She nodded at him, a large smile hanging off her lips. “Thank you, see you at Hogwarts if I am not in next week.” She whispered as she rolled onto the balls of her feet.
Before Fred could react, she was pressing her lips against his cheek. Her sweet looking lips felt even sweeter against the now burning flesh of his freckled cheeks. He knew that now he felt her lips, he wasn’t going to be able to stop thinking about how they would feel against his own lips, but right now his brain was empty. He couldn’t function as she pulled away, heels crashing to the ground. A bashful smile stayed on her lips as she waved to the pair of them, Fred so far gone he barely even registered the fact that her lips were no longer touching him - probably due to the fact that the tingling he felt was still there.    When he finally came back into his body again, Y/N and her bashfulness had left with her book tucked under her arm for almost five minutes. Blinking around, Fred saw the basically empty shop, the only person lingering being someone who had been there for two hours now. Looking to his side, he felt George’s “what the hell” look before he saw it. Winching, nervous about his brother’s wrath. “Sorry about the shirt, George.”

harry knew from the moment he woke up that he was going to have a wonderful day. the both of you came up with a plan to have him sneak into hogsmede and have a first date as the both of you officially have the boyfriends title.
as much as harry enjoyed your company, he was nervous to say the least. he thought on how he was gonna have to follow you like a lost puppy as you show him all the best places to visit at hogsmede.
in appropriate winter attire, hidden by his late father’s invisibility cloak, he began to walk. fiddling with his fingers, he did not notice the weasley twins, fred and george, snickering at his obliviousness.
he was making foot prints on the heavy layer of snow, it was like he wanted to get caught.
as soon was the twins finished building their cute snowman, the lunged at harry, dragging him through the snow.
❝ guys leave me alone! ❞ harry cried out.
❝ clever harry. ❞ replied fred, followed along by ❝ but not clever enough. ❞ from george.
❝ besides, we’ve got a better way. ❞
❝ guys cmon, im trying to get to hogsmede! i-i have a date! ❞
❝ we know! with y/n, oh we mean your boyfriend eh? ❞ the twins said simultaneously.
❝ don’t worry, we’ll get you there. ❞
❝ we’ll show you a quicker way. ❞
❝ if you pipe down. ❞
❝ let me go, cmon guys! ❞
❝ now harry, come and join the big boys! ❞
Tumblr media
after escaping fred and george with the marauder’s map in his possession, he came out of the recommended one - eyed witch passageway, he found himself in honeyduke’s cellar.
he looked around, checking if the coast was clear, he lifted a tile slightly so only his green orbs could absorb his surroundings.
he lifted himself off the ground, tip toes to stairs that lead up to honeyduke’s. he quickly covered himself with the invisibility cloak as he stepped up, knocking a box of clutter in the process.
harry couldn’t believe his eyes. there were shelves upon shelves of the most succulent - looking sweets imaginable. creamy chunks of nougat, shimmering pink squares of coconut ice, fat, honey - coloured toffees; hundreds of different kinds of chocolate in neat rows; there was a large barrel of ‘every flavour beans’, and another of ‘fizzing whizzbees’, the levitating sherbet balls that ron had mentioned before.
you stood standby, although you and your boyfriend came up with the invisibility cloak hogsmede break in, you never planned where to meet. so made use of your trip to honeydukes to buy yourself some sugar quills.
you dropped some sliver sickles and one galleon on the counter and made your way to the door, only to be pulled by a unknown force, you smiled to yourself knowing it was harry.
it was your turn to drag him, a ❝ oomph! ❞ escaping his lips. coming to a secluded area, harry snatched the cloak off him and reached out, wrapping his arms around your neck.
❝ hey there harry. ❞ you said to him lovingly, wrapping your arms around his waist, with your neck resting on his shoulder.
it hurt your back a bit since the height difference between you and harry was noticeable, regardless of hitting puberty it was like he stunted in growth.
we aren’t gonna tell him though.
you let go and stunned harry by resting your hands on his sides giving them a hard grip.
❝ i’m glad you made it love. ❞ you pecked his check adoringly.
❝ i-im sorry if i took to long, fred and george- ❞
❝ don’t worry about it harry, what matters is that you are here now right? ❞ harry nodded in response.
❝ ready for our honeymoon? ❞ you asked him teasingly and he felt heat rising in cheeks and you intertwined your hand with his.
Tumblr media
the both of you made it inside the popular pub, the three broomsticks, choosing a secluded area for the both of you, perhaps to snog comfortably, perhaps not.
you ordered two butter beers with extra cream on yours. you pulled out a sugar quill and handed it to harry
❝ thank you y/n. ❞ harry said softly, ripping into it right away.
❝ my pleasure harry. ❞ you cupped his face and kissed his forehead making his eyes flutter.
the both of you talked about how the term was going with dementors on the loose and his passion for quidditch.
how mesmerizing it was to see, practically the love of your life, ramble about quidditch, expressing his love for it using dramatic hand movements.
you caught him off guard by reaching out for his hand and placing it on your lips.
❝ w-what are you doing? ❞ he yelped out, not even bothering to smack his hand off you.
you kissed each knuckle, smiling against his palm.
❝ you’re so beautiful harry, im such a lucky boyfriend. ❞ you expressed your content in spending time with him alone
he giggled as you let go of his, now pampered, hand. he took a large chug of his last bit of butter beer before putting the glass down.
❝ i could say the same y/n, i mean your so handsome.. ❞ he whispered locking his emerald eyes in contact with yours.
you chuckled. ❝ i know! ❞ you then stood up grabbing your things as he did the same.
❝ oh shit harry, wait! ❞ you gasped quietly.
❝ h-huh, what’s wrong, do i have something on my face? ❞ he looked away embarrassed noticing the sticky feeling of butter on his lips.
you grabbed his chin, forcing him to look up at you and without hesitation you leaned down and kissed him.
harry’s eyes widened as you did so, this was your first kiss, on the lips at that.
he noticed you looked so.. so nonchalant.
you eyes closed, breathing in deeply. he doesn’t know it but, inside you where screaming internally.
harry responded by shutting his eyes and kissing back. which surprised you to say the least.
you let go first, readjusting his glasses for him.
❝ i love you harry. ❞ you whispered in his ear.
before he could respond you walked by him and turned back, pointed to the exit of the pub signaling to leave.
he stood there in a trance, not blinking once. before he could say it back, you had been already opening the door, holding it waiting for him to go though.
❝ w-wait y/n ! ❞

Harry is eight and spending the time he isn’t locked up in his cupboard, or doing house chores, or running away from Dudley and his gang, at the nearby park. He sits on the swing and idly watches the most beautiful boy he’s ever seen.
His name is Malcom, his hair is light brown and his eyes are the prettiest blue Harry’s ever seen.
But— but boys aren’t supposed to be pretty. Boys aren’t supposed to think other boys are pretty, so he makes himself smaller in his worn out jumper and never approaches him again.
Harry is eleven when his life turns upside down and a gangly freckled kid sits next to him on the Hogwarts Express. He looks into his blue eyes and marvels at the bright red of his hair. He wants to reach out and clean the bit of dirt off his nose, but that would be getting too close to another boy, and he couldn’t afford that, could he?
Not when he could imagine tracing all the freckles scattered across his cheeks.
Harry is fourteen when Cedric Diggory falls from the sky and offers him help getting up after using his first Portkey. His hand is big and as calloused as he’d expect a Quidditch player’s to be. He doesn’t like dwelling on the thought of how nice he’d found it.
He asks Cho Chang to the Yule Ball and she rejects him because Cedric Diggory had been quicker. He ends up spending the night on a chair intently looking at the way Cedric’s hand curls around Cho’s waist. He was jealous of him, right?
He tells Sirius about the Yule Ball and he raises an eyebrow at the way Harry describes Cedric’s robes and styled hair but can barely remember the colour of Cho’s dress.
Harry is fifteen when Cho Chang finally agrees to go on a date with him. It happens after they kiss and Harry is eager, he should be, right? The kiss had felt wet and not particularly pleasant and his chest felt a lot warmer as he watched the way Ron laughed when he described it than it had felt when his lips had collided with Cho’s.
The date doesn’t go well, maybe Harry just doesn’t get women.
Sirius says it’s ridiculous, but he doesn’t miss the odd look he and Remus give each other.
Harry is sixteen when he dreams of red hair and freckled skin and in order to escape it he decides to stay up at night and stare at Draco Malfoy’s dot on the Marauder’s Map.
It doesn’t do him good.
He decides the bright red infesting his dreams must be Ginny’s, because he doesn’t know any other red-haired girl. Even though she wears it long and when he dreams it’s short and spiky. And the freckles on her cheeks are not as numerous as the ones he marvels at after falling asleep.
He decides it has to be Ginny, and the thought of it can occupy his mind long enough to make him forget the weird pang and slight sick in his stomach each time he catches Ron snogging Lavender.
When Ginny runs up to him after winning the Quidditch up, he kisses her, because that’s what he’d been dreaming about, right? Hands tangled in red hair and freckled cheeks centimetres from his face, but it feels all wrong.
Ron nods at him and it all feels wrong.
Sirius is not here anymore for Harry to consult, so instead he takes Ginny outside their common room and, on the Hogwarts grounds, opens his heart to her.
She understands.
Harry is seventeen when he has to die and he still hasn’t made sense of the feelings in his chest or why, no matter how much he tried, girls felt so wrong.
It’s not at the forefront of his mind, it’s not even close because the only thing he can think about is the warm bodies laying lifeless in the Great Hall.
But, as he approaches his death, he does spare a thought for the uneasiness he had felt when Hermione kissed Ron, and the discomfort every kiss he’d given before had provided him. He hadn’t lived in full, not even close.
A flash of green light approaches and he finds it silly, how his last thought is of red hair and freckles.
Harry is eighteen when he attends his first Weasley family dinner after the war. The grief is heavy and Fred’s chair is empty but Percy is back home and it does bring at least a shard of comfort to Mrs Weasley. He isn’t alone, Oliver Wood hangs from his arm.
He is eighteen and Percy Weasley introduces Oliver Wood as his boyfriend.
Harry blinks at them and something in his head just clicks.
Harry is twenty when he finally musters the courage to walk into a Gay Bar. He had to Confund the door keeper because he didn’t own an ID, the Dursleys had never bothered giving it to him, given he even had one.
It’s a Muggle place and he feels like the odd one out, terribly dressed down and completely clueless.
He ends up ordering a beer and sitting by the bar.
It’s not until his third visit that a stranger approaches him. He has red hair but his pupils are a soft hazel and his skin isn’t freckled at all. Harry thinks that if he shuts his eyes close, maybe, he could pretend.
His name is Lucas, his lips taste vaguely like strawberries and the kiss doesn’t make Harry want to turn his insides inside out. He smiles and the rush of adrenaline in his veins as Lucas nibs on his bottom lip feels both terrifying and terribly right.
Harry is twenty-three when the cat gets out of the bag.
It’s not because he wanted it, really, but sharing a flat with his best mates could be inconvenient, at times.
He flushed and urges his date to get dressed as he tries to avoid Ron and Hermione’s shocked looks. Their hands are clasped together and Harry has learnt to live with the uncomfortable twist of his stomach by now.
They come off it quickly, though. Ron laughs and pats Harry on the back, says everything is much more clear now.
Harry is twenty-five when he makes his best-man speech at Ron and Hermione’s wedding.
He chokes on his words both because he was never that good at public speaking and because each time he looked at the way Ron’s arm curled around Hermione’s shoulder his throat went a bit drier.
He drinks his glass of champagne in one go and relishes in the burn before fetching Gabriel, his date for the night.
Gabriel stood out like a sour note next to his exes: his hair were a dusty blonde. Harry had thought there would be way too many redheads at the wedding anyways.
Harry is thirty-one when Ron jokes he will never settle down if he keeps on changing men at the same rate he changes his pants, but Harry doesn’t care.
Ron looks thoroughly annoyed and Hermione coughs, worried and almost resigned eyes looking up at her husband.
Harry is thirty-three when Ron shows up at his place with a suitcase and bashfully tells him Hermione wants to file for a divorce.
He just nods and lets Ron in.
Harry is thirty-five when Ron brings back a bottle of expensive Firewhisky and decides they should celebrate the Cannons’ new victory streak on their own.
He hadn’t heard of the Cannons winning anything, recently, but he shrugs it off because it’s not really his thing anyways, Ron would know.
He is thirty-five and Ron, red-haired, freckled and now face flushed sits way too close for comport and traces his lips with a pinky.
He stands up abruptly and loudly declares it’s time for bed. Ron looks quite annoyed, but it will pass.
It must have been his imagination.
Harry is thirty-seven when his best mate breaks down crying in front of him and confesses his feelings through agonising sobs.
He keeps apologising and a tug at his hand breaks Harry out of his stupor. He was sure it must have been a dream, but Ron was real and crying and trembling.
He leans down wordlessly and, finally— sparks.
He is thirty-seven and this is the first time he’s ever felt so alive.
Harry is forty-two when Hagrid walks him down the aisle.
It’s clumsy and messy because they’re both trying not to cry, Harry being much better at it than the half-giant.
He catches a glimpse of Hermione, beaming at him from the front with a knowing smile.
He is forty-two and he is in front of Ron, in white robes. The voices around them nothing but white noise and then Ron leans down and all he can see is— red. Red hair and freckles.

Ron Weasley Headcanons | Smut and Fluff
Tumblr media
ron weasley x f!reader
most is completely safe unless you scroll to the smut section, but i’d recommend not clicking on this if you’re below 16. you have been warned.
Fluff |
oh, this guy is crazy for you. i mean, like super crazy.
everything you do turns his knickers into a twist.
he just loves it when you play with his hair, especially when you sneak into his dormitory and into his bedroom, where you admire his ginger locks of hair. it makes him fall asleep instantly, his hand tucked between your waist, his other hand pulling you into his chest, where he buries his head into the crook of your neck. makes him happy.
for one thing, he enjoys being your study partner. personally, i’d imagine he gets off track. “hey,” you snapped your fingers in his lazed state. “wake up!” he jumped, a list of repeated apologies falling from his mouth. “you agreed to helping me with my transfiguration test!” you pleaded, exclaiming and complaining about how tired he looked. “i’m sorry, sweets… what were you talking about, hm?” he’d glance his eyes through the old, yellow-stained textbook. you’d smile, mumbling to yourself about how cute it was when his hair would flop over his face when he laid down on the desk.
if you think he isn’t gonna reward you, you’re wrong. you’ve seen the “5 galleons, 10 galleons” scene between him and his twin brothers. he’d probably try to beg to fred and george, asking them ways to make it up to his girlfriend if you were upset about something.
“come on! i’m your brother. the least you could do is help me out?” he explained. “help? you?” fred and george said in unison. “c’mere, lover boy,” the boys would tease ron, their knuckles shaking and messing up his hair, laughing and giggling would follow.
he was kind of nervous introducing you to his family, but when harry was considered apart of the family, he doubted his mother and father wouldn’t love you. his twin brothers loved you, percy sometimes questioned ron’s romantic appreciation (ron had a habit of finding his fingers near your hair every time you and him sat near eachother,) bill and charlie didn’t mind you, and ginny was completely in love with you. ginny went as far as asking ron if you were to be expected at every holiday and birthday they celebrated.
i think it’s already canon that ron HATES when people give him suits or something to wear (considering the yule ball,) but when you bought a suit from one of the nearby muggle towns, he kind of questioned it, but liked the idea of wearing a black tuxedo. “well,” he examined the outfit, his eyes swiftly moved up and down as he looked at any noticeable details of the suit. “it sure is quite nice.” you smiled, the remark staining a permanent reminder that he adored you.
trust me, you’ve been caught a variety of times trying to sneak into his room, and the same goes vice versa. harry used to be kind of upset at your snogging sessions, but he got used to them when he saw how affectionate the both of you were at dinner in the dining room.
speaking of food, he’d be the type to try and steal your food. you see how hermione smacks him with the nearest object at her hand when he eats too loudly, too fast, or eats a ton. “ron!” you smacked his hand lightly. sad, puppy eyes pleaded for a piece of your food. it made him frown. “fine, ron. you can take a piece.” you’d cross your arms, watching him form a cute grin that would brighten the rest of your day. he’d nibble on the food, a mumbled “thank you” would come from his mouth.
he loves kissing you in the hallways. you’d lean into the corner, allowing him to give faint kisses on your forehead before the both of you had no choice but to part to your own separate classes. “i promise, love. i’ll see you tonight, yeah?” you’d watch him walk away, a sad, yet proud grin would paint your face. you’d hear the distant call from a professor telling you, “get to class, miss l/n!” and you couldn’t help but giggle, your mind set on the memory of his lips as your shoes clacked in the hallways, jogging to your next class.
he’s been late a few times to class, mainly for you. self-explainable.
hugging you when you sleep, pampering kisses all over your neck is his favorite activity.
Smut |
oh, this man…
i’m not the type to specify dick sizes, but let’s just say he’s coming in at 6-7 inches erect, a good 5 when soft.
receiving blowjobs and public sex is his favorite combination. you wouldn’t believe the amount of times he’s snuck you into the bathrooms, locking the bathroom stall with a spell. you’d get down on your knees, swirling the tip of his cock around your tongue like it was a lollipop. his eyes roll back every time your fingers touch the veins on his shaft. he especially ascends to heaven and beyond when you allow him to use your hair to guide his cock down your throat.
just try and tell me this man doesn’t whimper like crazy in bed. he fucking loves releasing all of his audible pleasure into your ears. “o-oh… yeah, love… just like that,” he’d cry out, twisting and turning when his dick met the right spot inside of you.
basically, he’s such a huge switch.
for example, if it’s just casual sex, prepare for him to whimper and moan and squirm every time you touch him, but if he catches you winking at another guy or if another guy flirts with you, he’s gonna fuck you like his dick was made to be inside of your tight cunt only.
his favorite position is probably cowgirl. he loves pulling on your hair when you ride his cock, your hips swaying back and forth, teasing his cock as it twitches inside of you.
“hush it, darling,” he whispered. he’d put his hand over your mouth, violently snapping his hips into you. his fingernails carved crescent-shaped marks into your hips. he just fucking loves it when he gets to fuck you in an environment when you’re forced to both be quiet.
he’s an ass guy. he loves staring at your ass. when he’s done rambling to harry about his day at bed, he’ll make sure he’s asleep before pulling out his cock and imagining sticking it deep in your ass. makes him cum instantly. the surprise on harry’s scarred face when he realizes why ron is jerking around under the covers instantly makes him shut his eyes and turn back around.
he’s not too big on cumming inside of you, but your back, your stomach, your tits, your ass, your face… god, there’s just so many places. besides your ass, i’d say he loves cumming on your stomach and seeing it seep down off and onto the covers when you’re laying down.
he’s sweet when it comes to aftercare. “are you okay, love? want an extra pillow? here, take mine,” he’d lift your head up, placing an extra one beneath your head. he’d grab a warm rag, wiping you off and kissing your chest and stomach. he sometimes just wants to fuck you again after seeing you all cleaned up and asleep.
make him feel appreciated, and i promise, sex with him is amazing. he’s so scared to move too fast in worries of injuring you, but affirmation is important for him or else you’re probably not getting what you want.
might write a draco malfoy one next idk guys. happy thanksgiving if you celebrate it 🦃 🎉

Dating Fred Weasley Would Include
Tumblr media
You’d be best friends with the twins since day one.
Wherever they were you were never far behind.
And you would try and be a good influence but those boys were their own force of nature.
You both realise that you like each other around Fourth year.
But he never asks you out.
Instead, one day when you’re studying he leans across and kisses you out of the blue.
You’re flummoxed but he merely shrugs and flashes you a cheeky grin.
Then it happens a few more times.
‘Fred…do you like me?’ ‘I’ve been snogging you for the past week I should bloody hope so.’
George is happy for the pair of you.
But he hates your PDA.
Fred’s happy to let the world know you’re together.
He carries your books to and from class, kisses you goodbye outside the classroom, and walks the halls with his arm around your shoulder.
When it got too much George would insist you ‘bugger off and give him a chance at keeping his lunch down’.
So you’d spend a lot of your days finding secluded spots in the castle.
Fred’s insatiable.
Tumblr media
And his biggest turn-on is the idea that the pair of you might get caught.
Eventually you stop spending the night in your own dormitory.
Sleeping next to him is soothing.
And if McGonagall knows she doesn't let slip.
You’d try and get him to take school a little more seriously.
He’d shrug you off.
Which would cause massive arguments.
But eventually he would tell you about the pair of them wanting to open a joke shop.
‘Why didn't you just tell me?’ ‘Because we didn’t think we could do it…not really.’ ‘You two can do anything. I know it.’
Since you’ve been friends from the start Molly knows you well but she acts like you’re a completely new woman and she’s desperate to impress.
The twins mock her endlessly for it.
But you tell them to pack it in sharpish.
‘Never tell me off like that again.’ ‘Why?’ ‘Because Georgie dearest pointed out that you look exactly like my mother. And I don’t have the money for therapy.’
Even though they would drop out of school Fred would insist you stay put.
If truth be told you’re a little lost without the pair of them around.
You’d count down the days till any school holiday.
And there’d be letters written from both of you almost daily.
They’re utterly sappy but neither of you care.
He even promises that when you graduate the pair of you can get married.
Once you’re out of school he makes good on his promise and buys you a gorgeous ring.
Your days would be spent helping with the order, running the shop and doing your own job.
It’s exhausting but you love it.
Until the night you lose Mad-Eye.
Seeing George mangled like that was when it gets real for you.
And you can’t stop seeing Fred’s face in place of his brother’s.
You’d spend nights up worrying about the war.
Fred was one to talk you down. To try and calm you.
George would talk it through with you which would help because at least he was feeling what you did.
Then the battle of Hogwarts would come.
You’d feel it mid-fighting. Something wrong. Something bad.
And you wouldn’t have to see his body to know he was gone.
You could tell by the crumpled form of Molly Weasley that your love was gone.
That’s when your world would break apart.
The only reminder of your love is that ring on your left hand.

The Last Night at Hogwarts.
George Weasley x Reader Fem!
AU lets pretend the twins didn’t drop out and the war didn’t happen to make it sweeter. But written in a diary style of the last night at Hogwarts after 7 years.
Warnings: Mention of reader having kids
July 20th, 1996:
7 years of my life. Since I was 11. Since I was a kid who knew no wizards, except for my father who had given up the wizarding life to live a muggle life with my mother. I didn’t even know I was a wizard until I was 11. Just in case I wasnt one. My father didn’t want to expose me to this wonderful world, then for me to not get my letter. He was muggleborn himself so thought the chances of me being a wizard were lower. But the day I found out, my life changed.
I was sorted into Gryffindor. I made best friends with Fred and George Weasley on the first night, after they asked me for help with hiding a prank. It had been 3 years since I fell head over heels in love with George. My boyfriend. Back in 5th year when my main concern were OWLs and getting George to notice me. He did. That spring. Although he told me he noticed me the second he first set his eyes on me as we waited to enter the great hall to get sorted into our houses. He said how he hoped I’d get into Gryffindor, since he and his twin were practically a shoe in for getting in. He was a Weasley after all. He said when he heard Gryffindor being called upon my head, he was ecstatic. When he got in, after Fred, he sat next to me. Fred could tell what George was going through with me, so decided to be a sort of wingman. Hence asking about the prank that night.
I only saw George as a friend back then. But in a way I was glad it happened this way. It was incredible. The feeling of loving someone as a friend, and you begin to realise that you love them more. The feeling of falling in love with someone who you knew for years. It was the most magical experience I had ever felt. Which is saying a lot considering I go to a magical school.
The way he asked me out when he found out I loved him. He skipped a class with me, after finally convincing me to skip. We wandered the grounds sneakily. Then he said he loved me. Straight off the bat. Instead of playing it safe by asking me on a date or saying he ‘liked’ me. He just fully admit he loved me. Unapologetically. After months of consideration beforehand, he knew how I felt, so of course I returned his ‘I love you’ with an ‘I love you too’, leading for us to both melt on the spot, pool into one big combined mess and start snogging until we realised we were under the Womping Willow. He ran off but with his arms around me, sheiding me. We laughed and he kissed me again. Then Snape found us ditching and we recieved multiple detentions. But it was worth it. I would have gotten expelled for that moment.
Saying that, I really loved it here. I loved my parents and the life they gave me, but as soon as I found out I was a wizard I knew there was no way I could live a muggle life. I could only imagine myself having a wizard job, marrying a wizard, casting spells on one another as little I love you’s. Pulling magical tricks on one another. So when I found out George was that wizard it was perfect. Hogwarts gave me a lot. I placed the last thing in my trunk, a moving photo George had got me of us at the Yule Ball last year. I always looked at it when he wasn’t around. That and the few moving photos I convinced him for me to take for an art project.
I kept them on me at all times. As much as I loved them though, I really wouldn’t need them anymore. As in the morning I was going to hop on that train for the final time. Back home. For a few days. Until I moved into an apartment we had above the shop Fred and George managed to get the keys to. All summer we would decorate, ready for the kids returning to Hogwarts to do their shopping in Diagon Alley. I was sad I wouldn’t be one of those kids returning. But being able to sleep next to George every night, spend every day with him with no worries about classes. Secure together. I was excited for that. Very excited.
Still it brought tears to my eyes. Seeing my decorations taken down from my part of the room. It usually made me upset, as it meant I wouldn’t see George as much as I normally do as I had to go home for Summer. But this time I cried because I wouldn’t be putting these up again.
I wouldn’t be with George in the Great Hall, eating toast so early that it gave me a stomachache as I really couldn’t eat that early in the day. George and I walking through the grounds together, during our free periods we made sure we got at the same time. Falling asleep on his shoulder in the common room on a rainy evening, instead of doing the work we convinced ourselves we were going to do.
I took a final look, before getting into the bed. The bed felt cold now. It was a normally a warm and welcoming bed. But it’s as if the bed was saying it was my time to go. It sounds silly I know but, that’s exactly how it felt. This bed would belong to a new first year Gryffindor girl next year. About to have an amazing 7 years herself. After thinking about it, I grab my wand from the empry bedside table, I etch the words ‘Have Fun’ underneath the mattress where many other messages lay. Some of my own, like a loveheart containing the letter G I made on the second day of fifth year. But this message was for this new girl in my room on September.
I lay back down in the bed. Still cold, but warming itself up to support me one last night. My cover hugging me goodbye as it draped over my body. Not too much, it was warm outside. But just enough to be comfortable. The room felt so empty. I hadn’t seen it this empty since first year on the day we moved in, since we tended to keep some things here over summers. But this was it.
I lay there. Thinking instead of sleeping. Thinking about this bed, this room, this school. People I knew I would never see again, people who I may see every now and then, but its not as fun as it was right now. Promises to keep in touch that would fade eventually with most and then a reunion comes along and we all say hey, but don’t have that connection.
Until I think about George. How we will only grow our connection. If thats possible considering our place with one another now. I cannot even fathom us being more in love than we are right now, but when I look at George I know my love for him will never stop growing. I can only see how our relationship will clearly grow. One day he’ll propose and another were married, another maybe some kids came along. He did tell me the other day how he wants one of our kids to be called Bartholomew. As a joke. But our kids. Ours. I laughed along but If it made him happy I’d do that. That poor child though.
Thinking about George as a father to our children and my husband made me giddy, but finding out he’s thinking the same about me being a mother to our children and his wife made me crumble inside. Again positively. It made everything so real. I thought about scenarios of us getting married and finding out I was pregnant with our first born.
If you had told me when I was 14 that I was laying in bed at night fantasising about having a child with George Weasley, I would’ve called you a liar. First of all George was only my best friend, and I didn’t even want kids I would’ve told you. But my god how things have changed.
My mother told me that would change and I disagreed. Well I argue that things like that don’t change for everyone and that it doesnt need to change for them to be fufilled, that change for me was for the better. On the topic, I have to tell you about how I introduced George to my family twice. The first time as a friend of mine alongside Fred. In Diagon Alley shopping for our second year supplies. But then the summer of fifth year, we invited George to stay for a few days. I introduced him as my boyfriend. And he just clicked with my family. My dad apparently was the troublemaker in Hogwarts back in the day too so they bonded over that. My mum found him very good for me. Thought he was exactly the perfect person for me. She was right. And this really sealed the deal.
Anyway, sorry for rambling on about my memories like that. This bed is comfortable. I’ll miss this room. I know I’ll find myself back at this school at points in my future, but this room will no longer be my room. This is the room to girl in Gryffindor of the class of 2003. How strange. Goodnight. If you’re reading back on this diary, I hope you remember all of this. But I’m going to sleep now.
October 2nd, 2010:
I was looking through my old things and I found this diary again. In my old Hogwarts trunk that I was giving to my daughter. George found it actually. He wanted to read it but I knew there were some cringeworthy things in here. There were. I let him read this though. Little did I know that he was going to take that next step in our relationship that summer, once we got the keys to our old flat. He got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. We got married the next year and we had our daughter 9 months later. 16 March 1999.
Now I know George is in touch with his emotions, but it was rare I see him cry but this got to him somehow. But I found this book in August and hid it out of embarrassment. Until I read it today with George. It was because my daughter sent me an owl, saying that she found some messages on her bed. One of them saying ‘Have fun’ with two responses underneath. One saying ‘I did thanks’ and another one saying ‘Me too’. I swear it was my message so I had to find this entry in this diary and low and behold it was. Remember how I was saying to imagine telling fourteen year old me about thinking about having kids with George, Imagine 18 year old me finding out that said child with George would be in her old bed. In her old room.
Im glad all of my dreams from back then became true. Im happy for my past self in what she’s about to experience. Because it’s the best things that have ever happened to me.
PS, don’t worry past Y/N, your daughters name isn’t Bartholomew.

HOME: Book 6 - CHAPTER FIVE
MASTERLIST
When they first boarded the train, the twins had joined Veronica and Charlie in their usual compartment. Not long after the journey began, the trolley witch had passed by, and Veronica had noticed Fred and George eyeing all the tasty treats she had to offer, so she had stepped quietly out into the corridor and bought some of everything. The look on their faces when she came back with her arms full of sweets made her heart sing.
As she sat back down next to Charlie, he whispered, “you didn’t have to do that, Ronnie. I can’t even begin to imagine how much that cost.”
“Well, that look on their faces is priceless, so don’t worry about it.” Before Charlie could continue lecturing her, she stood. “Come on, we’ll be late for our Prefects’ meetings.” Turning to the twins, she said, “Don’t eat that all in one sitting, okay? You’ll be feeling ill in no time. And save some for Percy. We’ll send him over if we see him.”
“Okay!” They responded simultaneously without looking up from the treats.
As they shut the compartment door and began making their way down the corridor towards the Prefects’ compartments, Charlie couldn’t wipe the shocked look off his face. “It never fails to amaze me how much they listen to you. They didn’t even argue with you. If I had said any of that to them, especially the bit about Percy, they would have thrown a fit. How do you do that?”
Veronica chuckled. “Well, for starters, I’m not their brother. They’re automatically hardwired not to listen to you and to push back.”
Charlie shook his head. “No, there must be more to it than that. You’re just as much a sister to them as Ginny is.”
“Yeah, but I don’t try to boss them around the way you, Bill and Percy do. And I don’t treat them like children either. Do you remember what we were like at their age? I’m an only child, but you hated when Bill used the fact that he was older against you. And I hated when Dumbledore would treat me like a child that couldn’t think or fend for itself. So I don’t do that to them, and I think they respect me more because of that.”
Charlie’s eyebrows furrowed as he prepared to argue with her, but Veronica quickly poked her head into a compartment on her right. Charlie could only hear muffled voices before Percy came strolling out into the corridor.
“Oh, hiya Charlie! Which compartment are they in, Veronica?”
“The second from the end on your right.”
“Cool, thanks! See you two later!”
Veronica chuckled as she watched him disappear into the compartment. She could only imagine the chaos she and Charlie would be coming back to after their meetings; she only hoped the Weasley brothers wouldn’t kill each other before then. As the pair continued down the corridor, they finally reached the Prefects’ compartments, and they each joined their respective Houses.
***
The meetings hadn’t lasted long, and before they knew it, Veronica and Charlie were standing in the corridor again. “Do you want to do a quick check of all the compartments before we get back to your brothers?”
“Sure!”
It didn’t take long for them to make their way down the train, and in one of the final compartments, Veronica found Artemis and Felix. Charlie had stopped at a compartment a few doors up to say hello to his Quidditch mates, and it was good that he did, otherwise he would have gotten quite a shock at the sight of the two boys snogging. Veronica kicked the door gently before sliding it open, giving them enough time to pull away from each other and wipe the saliva from their faces as she walked in.
With her arms crossed, she glared at them. “What are you two doing? You know how many students could have seen you as they walked past? Not to mention the trolley witch. You’re just begging to get caught, and with all that crap you keep saying about wanting to keep this a secret, I doubt you’d like that!”
Felix’s face turned bright red, and he quickly hid it in Artemis’ shoulder. Even Art looked embarrassed as he held his hands up in surrender. “Sorry V, but we haven’t seen each other all summer!”
“Yeah, well don’t come complaining to me when you get caught and your secret is out. You’re lucky Charlie stopped at another compartment, or he would have been ahead of me, and he would have been the one to find you.”
Just then, Charlie appeared in the doorway. “Oh, hey guys! It’s great to see you! How was your summer?”

The Prefect’s Bathroom
The Prefect's Bathroom
Pairings: George Weasley X Fem Reader
Warnings/Kinks: aquaphilia, unprotected sex, consensual sex, cheating
Summary: The Yule Ball doesn't go quite the way you expected it to. After things don't work out with your date from Beauxbatons, you storm off to the the Prefect's Bathroom to relax. Little do you know that a certain someone has a plan to cheer you up.
*********************************************************************
"My friend's over there sitting all by herself, crying. Mind if I go see what's wrong?" Your date asked you. The two of you were standing by the punch bowl and you were fanning yourself. After hours of dancing, it was nice to feel some cool air and be away from the crowd of students. You could see your friends heading toward you, Fred with Angelina followed by George with a Hufflepuff girl you've never met before.
"Oh of course you can!" You assured him, "Here, I can come with you-" But he was already making his way over to her. Don't be jealous, he's only comforting a friend of his, you told yourself. After all, you'd do the same if Fred or George were sad. Now that you'd thought about it, in all the years you've known the twins it was hard to remember times when they weren't horsing around and cracking jokes...
"Having fun, Y/N?" Angelina asked you, grinning from ear to ear.
"Yes! It's been amazing," You replied.
"Where'd your date run off to?" George asked.
"I told him the Gryffindors were coming and he said he wanted nothing to do with them. Personally I don't blame him," You said sarcastically. Being a Slytherin yourself, these kind of jokes were common. George stuck his tongue out at you and you made a face back.
"Er, I hate to point this out, but isn't that him?" Angelina asked, motioning to the table your date was at. He was speaking to the girl, who had stopped crying and was now wiping her tears with a napkin.
"He said she was only a friend. She was crying and he wanted to go comfort her. What's wrong with that?" You said defensively.
"Nothing's wrong. As long as you're cool with him putting his arm around her...And, er, snogging her," Fred answered.
You looked back to see that he was right. Your date had leaned in for the kiss, not a care in the world as to who might be watching. You felt your blood begin to boil. This definitely called for some kind of vengeance. But for now, all you could think about was how embarrassed you were to have witnessed this in front of your best friends.
"That fucking prick," You mumbled. A part of you wanted to cry but you forced the tears not to come. You took a deep breath, collected yourself, and set your drink down, "I'll be right back."
You stormed out of the Great Hall, heading straight for the Slytherin dorms. The furious clicking of your high heels echoed the empty halls.
"Y/N!" You heard a voice call. It was Angelina. You waited as she caught up to you.
"Y/N stop! Where are you going?" She asked breathlessly.
"To get my wand." You spoke calmly. There was a deadliness to your tone.
"Why?!"
"Why do you think? To hex the shit out of that lying, cheating, pathetic asshole-"
"Y/N, please! There's dozens of professors in the Great Hall, not to mention people from the Ministry! You'd get suspended, possibly even expelled. I don't want to see that happen to you."
You sighed, after all she had a good point, "We'll I'm not going back there. The night's ruined."
Angelina pulled you into a hug, "I'm sorry this happened to you, Y/N. I'll tell you what. Go to the prefect's bathroom, the secret entrance is by the statue of Boris the Bewildered. Password is Pine Fresh. You'll love it. The bath is enormous, it's like being at a spa. And then I promise, we'll get the twins to think of a way to get back at that stupid prat some other time."
You imagined the feeling of hot, bubbling water on your aching feet, and decided it wasn't the worst idea in the world...
"Fine," You agreed.
You wished each other goodnight and parted ways. Upon entering the prefect's bathroom, you realized the Angelina hadn't been exaggerating. There was a beautiful stained glass portrait of mermaid, who was perched on a rock, stroking her hair. Underneath was the bath, which, after being filled with water, was so deep you could've dove headfirst if you'd wanted. Gentle harp music sounded from the distance.
You slipped out of your dress and heels. The heat of the water was better than you ever imagined. It was crazy to think that all this time you'd been taking dingy little showers shared in the communal Slytherin bathroom when you could've had this all along. Should've applied to be a prefect this year, you thought to yourself.
You drifted off in your thoughts, letting the warmth ease the tension in your muscles. You were so deep in your relaxation, in fact, that you didn't even notice the slight creak of the door opening and closing again behind you.
"Mind if I join?" A familiar voice said.
Startled, you sank deeper into the water, pulling bubbles over top of you to make sure he couldn't see anything.
"G-George!?" You stuttered.
"Angie told me everything. See, I wasn't exactly having the best time with my date either. So I thought I thought I'd come join you," He explained with a crooked grin on his face.
"Yeah, erm, about that. I'm sort of naked, so if you let me just-" You rose above the water to reach for your bra and underwear, the bubbles settling nicely over your breasts. But before you could grasp your delicates, George swept them away with his foot.
"That's kind of the point," He said.
Now you understood. You stared up at him, unable to speak. You watched as he stripped down to nothing but his boxers. You glanced at the bulge within his underwear and quickly looked away as he pulled them down.
Splash!
In one quick motion, he had canon-balled into the tub, sending a tidal wave over your head. You couldn't help but giggle as you rubbed the water out of your eyes. Ugh, Gryffindors.
"You know if I had one complaint about this," He said after popping up from underwater, "It'd be that there's too many bubbles. I can hardly see."
You rolled your eyes, "I think what you mean is there's not enough."
George swam a bit closer to you. It was strange to think that this moment was real. George had always been one of your best friends, but after years of flirting and joking back and forth without making a move you assumed that he simply didn't like you in that way. Now it appeared as though you were very, very wrong in that assumption. You desperately pulled in more bubbles.
"There's no need to be shy, love," George said sweetly.
"Yes there is! I-I mean we've never done anything like this before..."
"Well I reckon we've both had terrible nights. We deserve to feel good," He said, coming closer than ever. You saw his eyes moving downward, as if trying to see through the bubbles.
"Hey!" You said with a splash, "Stop trying to peek!"
George splashed you back, and soon the two of you were having a fight to see who could splash the other the most without losing their bubbles. After some time you saw George take cover by diving under the water. You laughed, accepting this as your victory, until you realized he was staying under for quite a long time. You suddenly became aware of your nakedness again and quickly tried to cover yourself with your arms.
George came back up with a wild grin on his face, "Dunno why you're covering up. That was quite the view."
"How dare you!" You exclaimed, then an idea came to mind and you looked at him with a devious smile, "Let me have a look then. It's only fair."
"Go for it," He said, not seeming to care in the least.
You took a breath and went under, opening your eyes in attempt to see him nude. All that came, however, was a blur of cloudiness and a stinging sensation. You quickly came back up and rubbed your eyes.
"Ouch, how do you open your eyes without it burning?" You said.
George only laughed and swam closer to you. His voice becoming more serious.
"Y/N, there's nothing to be ashamed of. I think you're beautiful."
Then he tilted his head to one side and kissed you as you leaned into the wall of the tub. You felt his bare chest on your breasts, both of your lips wet from being submerged with water. He placed a hand on your hips and pulled you into him, his stiff cock pressing eagerly against your pelvis.
After a while, he pulled away. You bit your lip, hungry for more.
"Do me a favor, love, stand with your feet apart. Yeah, just like that," He murmured.
He took a deep breath and dipped underwater. You felt his hands grasping your outer thighs and let out a moan at the sudden feeling of his mouth finding its way into you folds. His tongue slid inside, gliding over your clit. It was a wonderful feeling. But before long he popped up for air.
"I was wondering how long you'd be able to hold your breath," You joked.
"I have a better idea anyways," He laughed.
You felt his hands grasp your bum as he picked you up, moving to a seat within the tub and placing you just over a jet of water. You gasped with pleasure. He widened your legs as far as you go, allowing the vibrations of the jet to grow increasingly more intense.
You felt yourself quickly reaching climax as he planted passionate, wet kisses all over your body. But just before the fireworks came, he pulled you off the jet, adjusting position so that your top half was now resting on the side of the tub, breasts exposed out of the water. He came up on his knees, placing his hands on your thigh and waist. You felt him enter you, using his hands to help thrust over and over again.
Your moans grew ever louder as you felt climax approach again. George placed a few fingers over your clit and rubbed in a circular motion. It was twice the pleasure as before now. You simply couldn't take it anymore. You let out a scream of joy as the ways of orgasm exploded inside of you. You felt your insides spasm as George thrusted a few more times before coming himself.
"Fuck," He muttered when he was done.
You sat up with him still inside, wrapped your legs around his back, and kissed him hard on the lips.
"That was better than I ever imagined this night would be," You said.
George smiled, and the two of you climbed out of the tub, wrapping towels around yourselves to dry off and get ready to head back to the dorms for the night.
The End

I don't want to snog him {Fred W.}
Plot - George has enlisted you to help him win over Angelina but unknown to you, his plan also might have something to do with getting Fred to admit his feelings for you.
Requested? Yes/No
Warnings - Jealousy (Not sure if that’s a warning though), a quick kiss and not fully proofread so I am sorry in advance
Word Count - 1.3k
Tumblr media
"Y/N, just the person I was looking for" George Weasley announced as he waltzed into the common room, spotting you bundled up in the window seat with some muggle book Hermione lent you.
"Oh no, what have you gone and done now?" You say.
George only asks for your help for 2 reasons; Firstly, when he has forgotten to do his Transfiguration homework or secondly, when him and Fred have a prank they need help executing.
He smiles whilst squeezing his tall-self next to you in the window, before looking up with the widest smile you've seen.
"Well my dear Y/N, I have a proposition for you" He says throwing an arm over your shoulder before continuing. "As you know, the Hogsmeade trip is coming up and I am in need of your assistance with getting a certain witch to go with me"
You see, Hogwarts is normally a place of studies and magic but due to the upcoming Hogsmeade trip, all that matters to the Hogwarts witches and wizards is who is going with who.
Two of those swooning fools go by the names of George Weasley and Angelina Johnson. Both of them want to go with each other but are too nervous to ask.
Y/N couldn't say they didn't care about going to Hogsmeade but they weren't going half as crazy as everyone else. Elaborate schemes, sneaky way of finding out who likes who just left broken heart filled halls. Why would Y/N submit themselves to any of that? But that didn't mean you couldn't help you best friends get together.
"Aww Little Georgie has a crush" You say squishing his cheeks between your fingers. "Of course I'll help and if it is any consolation, Angie has a thing for you as well"
George blushes when he realised you knew exactly who he was talking about but quickly played it off with a grin.
'If only you knew that this plan involved your love life as well' He thought before starting to explain the plan.
The plan was simple, you talk George up to Angelina whilst also feeding George information about her likes, her schedule and her current feelings towards him.
The part of the plan George failed to mention was the part where his less attractive twin brother gets incredibly jealous over how close you and George are. One thing to know about the Weasley siblings is that they all get very jealous, due to always having to share everything with their siblings. Fred and Ron were definitely the worst at coping with their jealous side which was exactly what George was counting on.
And with dear Freddie secretly harbouring the largest crush on a certain Y/N, seeing them get friendlier with George will certainly get Freddie to react and expose his feelings.
As it got closer to the Hogsmeade trip, the plan was fully in action. Y/N was constantly nudging Angelina in the direction of George, slowly pushing her to truly accept her feelings for him. But whilst that plan was working oh so amazingly, George's operation 'Get Freddie to stop being a wuss about his feelings' was going even better.
Unbeknownst to Y/N, Freddie had been hearing all of the compliments and praising of his twin. Each word was like an extra ounce of jealousy on his shoulders. In Fred's mind, Y/N was just fawning over George in the way he wished Y/N would fawn over him.
The final straw came the Thursday before the trip. Y/N was sitting at the Gryffindor table with Angelina, Katie, George and Fred, all talking about the upcoming trip.
"So George, who are you going to Hogsmeade with?" Y/N asks with a suggestive eyebrow wiggle, obviously a hint to ask Angie.
"It's funny you ask actually because I was hoping to ask someone special today" George responded with his eyes practically making heart-shapes towards the seat next to you which was occupied by your best friend, Angelina.
Unfortunately, Fred miscalculated where his brother was looking and read it as George making heart eyes towards Y/N. With a quick mutter of goodbye, Fred stood up from the table and stomped away like a toddler having a tantrum.
Y/N watched Fred walk away and wondered what the hell just happened. From the corner of their eye, they saw George looking like he was about to go after his brother. Y/N couldn't let that happen for two reasons, firstly George would miss his chance to ask Angie and secondly, Y/N wanted to be able to comfort the boy she had been infatuated with since third year.
"I'm going to go and make sure he is alright" You say standing up from the table and heading off in the same direction the older Weasley twin did. You knew exactly where he would be.
Approaching the black lake, you saw a certain lanky ginger pacing by the lake. He was clearly angry, you could tell by the way he was cracking his fingers on his right hand over and over again. That was his tell.
"Freddie?" You called out softly, snapping the Weasley out of his jealous trance and stopping him in his tracks.
"What do you want? Came to tell me that you will be off snogging my brother this weekend?" He sneered.
His response caused a sea of emotion to rise within you. Anger, hurt, confusion just to name a few. Why did he think that? Why is he being so rude? Why would he even care?
"Excuse me? I am not planning on doing anything of the sort with your brother but even if I was, it is none of your business" You retorted in a slightly harsher tone than you wanted.
Fred turned to you and just stared before something seemed to snap.
"Except for the fact that it is my business if the person I have been in love with since I was 14 decides to go off and do who knows what with my twin brother?" He marches slowly towards you whilst he goes on his little rant. "So yeah, I am pissed off and it's not like you or him even cared that you have been stabbing my heart all week. You and your stupid compliments towards him or silly hints about going to Hogsmeade but what is worse is that he knows how I felt and he just let you"
Fred stops in front of you and takes a breath, almost to refill his ammo before finishing his speech. "So I guess that you two deserve each other."
Fred looks into your eyes one last time before turning away to head back towards Hogwarts.
Y/N stands in shock. The boy they have been dreaming about since they were a dorky tween had confessed his love. But like an idiot, Y/N just stood there without professing their love. Y/N had always been shy but this is a matter of losing Freddie, their Freddie. Quickly they turned towards the fleeting image of the Weasley boy and shouted.
"I love you Fred Weasley"
Fred halts at the confession and turns to see if it was just a figment of his imagination but he saw them making their way towards where he stood.
"Fred, I have been helping George ask Angelina out, not fawning over him. He is a friend and Godric knows I don't want to snog him. You are the person I want to be complimenting and giggling with. You are the person I want to go on Hogsmeade trips with where we drink so much butterbeer, we feel sick." Finally reaching the shocked boy, you look up at him.
"You are the one I want to love and be loved by, if you'll let me?"
Instead of a response to your question, you feel a pair of warm lips meet yours, a taste of cinnamon and cherry tarts invades your senses. You know what magic feels like but this, this was the stuff that muggles write about and now you finally understood why.
Eventually Fred pulled away, much to your dismay, and as a small smirk graced his pale face he asked "So fancy going to Hogsmeade together, my love?

Fred wondered why he had hired you.
Well he knew why he had - because you were amazing at your job - but right now, as he watched you, bent slightly at the waist, interacting with some young children who had entered the shop, he severely regretted his decision. The only reason for this was that, due to the nice summer weather, you had decided to wear a skirt. A form-fitting skirt. A skirt that made Fred’s pants a tad too form-fitting themselves.
It wasn’t your fault - the sun had come as a welcome change, prompting the majority of people to be wearing lighter clothes as they hurried through Diagon Alley, so as to beat the heat. You’d just happened to have chosen a skirt that made Fred wish he could bend you over the till counter and pull said skirt up to your waist.
He couldn’t help the way his eyes wandered down your form to the curve of your bum as you reached up to grab products for the customers you were with, or - even better - this morning when you had bent down to pick up something someone (Fred) had dropped. His heart was pounding from the thought, and he was still trying to live down the fact he’d had to ask to swap with George, who was behind the till, in order to hide a certain problem of his from customers and from you - something George had found hilarious, joking about it every time he passed his twin throughout the rest of the day - “Alright there, Freddie? Working hard are we?” - earning more than a few glares.
Merlin though, Fred wanted you. He wanted to be able to kiss you, hold you, love you openly. He wanted to ask you for your input on new inventions, to ask you for your opinion on anything - everything. To be the last one to kiss you at night and the first thing you saw in the morning. And he definitely wanted you in his bed. Or in the shower. Or against the wall.
Preferably all of the above.
He couldn’t remember when he first caught feelings - sometime during your years at Hogwarts, but Fred couldn’t pinpoint exactly when he realised he was in love with you as opposed to just loving you. Perhaps it was that one game of truth or dare that lead to you kissing him - a thought he savoured and thought back to a lot. The way your lips felt against his and how he was able to hold you close in that moment.
All he knew was that he was left breathless in your presence.
He spent the rest of the day with thoughts of you in his head, swirling around as he tried to focus on serving customers. This proved a difficult feat considering you were right by him on the shop floor - talking, laughing, smiling. Fred cursed himself for being so caught up on you, but he couldn’t help himself.
He was so wrapped up in watching the way your lips turned up into a smile, the way your hips swayed as you walked, imagining how they’d feel against his own that he nearly missed George bidding his goodbyes after the store had closed for the day - something about meeting Angelina - as he made himself busy tidying one of the stands near the entrance.
“Hey Fred?” You called from the storage room. Fred blinked, pulling his thoughts away from his fantasies and back into reality, “Yeah?”
There was silence for a moment, and Fred placed the vial he was holding back into its place before wandering over to the storage room just as you entered back onto the shop floor.
“George asked if we could find a place to put these new products,” you said, bringing out a couple of trays of a new product designed to give the taker the temporary ability to read minds.
Fred frowned slightly. He knew for a fact that this product was supposed to be set up at the weekend, not today, before he both cursed and thanked George mentally as he realised his twin had given him some time alone with you - and an excuse as to why.
You’d placed the trays down and began looking around the shop, trying to work out the best place to display them, absent-mindedly pulling your bottom lip between your teeth as you did.
Fred’s gaze was directed at where your teeth met your lip and he swallowed, his jaw clenching as he imagined himself being the one biting your lip, and what sounds you’d make whilst he was doing so.
In his haze, he hadn’t realised you’d moved to the opposite side of the till counter, placing some other products you’d taken from another display down as you leant on the counter yourself. The movement caused Fred to glance over at you and his breath immediately hitched in his throat.
He could’ve sworn your top was buttoned all the way to your collar just moments ago and yet now, as you were leaning on your elbows on the counter as you spoke about the idea for the display you had, all he could focus on was the sight of the top of your breasts, in perfect view from the way your top had fallen as you’d leant.
“I suppose we could always move the love potions stand to the other side of the shop,” you looked up at Fred to see his response and instead were met with a soft gaze and no hint that he’d heard what you’d said. You raised your hand up in front of his face, an amused smile now playing on your lips as you watched him jump slightly, pulling him from whatever daydream he’d concocted in his head.
“I’m sorry, love, what we’re you saying?” He reaches up to stroke the back of his neck sheepishly.
“Were you not listening again?” You teased, giving him a playful eye roll. “I’m sorry, I was just distracted,” he replied.
“By what?”
Fred cleared his throat, not wanting to admit that he was very much imagining throwing you against the nearest wall and snogging the hell out of you. He instead changed the subject, he hoped subtly, as he returned his focus to the tray of products on the counter, “We could move the Pygmy puffs over and put the new stand nearer the front.”
“That could work,” you looked around and bit your lip in thought again, “Yeah and then we could move...”
But Fred’s focus was lost again. He knew he should be paying attention, that you’d beg him to know what had him so distracted but he couldn’t help it. Not when you were stood barely five feet in front of him, with your top practically unbuttoned and your skirt hugging your curves the way it was.
“What do you think?” You turned back to him happily, before seeing him in a trance again, “Um... Fred?”
Fred blinked, “Oh um yeah, yeah sure, sounds good!”
“Okay good! And then where should we move the snack boxes to...” And there you went again with the lip biting. Merlin, were you doing it on purpose? Could you tell how badly it was affecting him?
And suddenly Fred was only vaguely aware of you being mid sentence as he interrupted your planning with a growl, “Will you stop biting that fucking lip?!”
You jumped, a bewildered look dancing across your features, “What?”
“Stop. Biting. That. Fucking. Lip.” He spoke in a low tone that hit you between your legs and your mouth dropped slightly.
That’s when you saw it. His skin flushed, jaw clenched. His darkening eyes. Your own eyes wandered down his suit-clad arms, sleeves rolled to his elbows and displaying his toned forearms, knuckles white from gripping onto the counter.
You watched his tongue dart out to swipe across his bottom lip and nearly whimpered.
“Oh yeah? Or what?” You challenged him, purposely pulling your bottom lip between your teeth again.
“Or this!”
And suddenly Fred had slammed you against the nearest flat wall, his hands around your wrists as he easily pushed your arms up above your head. Your chests were pressed together, heaving from the deep breaths you were taking, his forehead resting on yours before he crashed his lips against your own.
He held onto your wrists with one hand, using the other to pull you closer to him by your hip, his tongue licking into your mouth as you moaned, completely taken by the man pressed against you. He ran his tongue across your bottom lip and gently nibbled, finally finding out what it felt like to bite your fucking lip.
You felt him through his pants, hard against your thigh as you sighed into his mouth, your hips rolling against his and making him let out a guttural moan.
He dropped his grip from your wrists just long enough to shake off his suit jacket, leaving him in his shirt as you ran your hands down his chest, revelling in the feel of his abs through the material.
His lips were still on yours, as if he was trying to imprint the feel of kissing you into his brain forever. In case this was a one time thing. In case it never happened again.
And then suddenly his mind was taken over by the feeling of your hands on his chest, unbuttoning his shirt as his own hands ran along the skin underneath your own shirt, fingertips reaching up to dance along the base of your bra, his hands gripping your back as you worked to take each others’ clothing off.
You pulled away for just a moment, pulling your shirt over your head as Fred did the same, throwing your bra somewhere in the middle of the floor, instantly forgotten as Fred put his hands back on you.
You shimmied your skirt down before making quick work of getting Fred out of his pants, mouth almost watering when you saw his hard cock pressing against the material of his boxers.
He pushed his lips back on yours, holding your bum as your hands reached around his neck to pull at the tufts of hair there, earning what you could only describe as a growl from him.
“Tell me to stop,” he groaned, taking in the sight of you, breathless and writhing under him.
“What if... I don’t want... you to stop,” you gasped as his mouth ghosted down your jaw, pressing the occasional open mouthed kiss to your skin.
“You want me to keep going?” He asked, sucking at the skin just below your jawline. “I want you to make me feel good,” you said as you stared up into his dark eyes.
“Darling, I can make you feel better than good,” Fred promised with a smirk.
His lips were then busy licking down your neck, towards your chest and he gently teased a nipple into his mouth, nibbling and earning breathy moans from you. One hand gripped your bum as the other held the back of your thigh, slowly moving round and under your skirt as he lightly ran a finger along the lace of your underwear. “This wet just for me?” He grinned, pulling away from your breast to meet your gaze as you nodded breathlessly, “All for you, Freddie.”
“I like the sound of that,” he replied as he moved to your other breast, giving it the same attention as he hooked a finger under the band of your underwear.
He began trailing kisses down your stomach and then kneeled before you, slowly pulling your underwear down your legs before pausing, looking up at you, “These expensive?”
“I can buy more.”
And with that, he ripped them from your legs, throwing them off to the side, falling somewhere with your discarded shirts.
His warm breath hit between your legs and he gripped your thighs before plunging his tongue inside of you, licking into you and making you gasp. The sound you made when he gently bit your clit was downright filthy, and you swore you could feel Fred smirking against you. He pushed his fingers into you, lazily thrusting them in and out as you leant against the wall, eyes closing in pleasure.
Just as you felt yourself getting close, your breathing staggered as you edged towards your climax, Fred decided to pull away from you, the cold air hitting you suddenly, making you open your eyes and you whimpered at the loss of contact.
“Look at you, being so needy. My needy girl, huh? I’ll make you cum, don’t worry, I’m just... dragging it out a little,” Fred smirked as he stood up, his fingers suddenly entering you again but this time only moving slowly.
You desperately thrust your hips into his hand, hoping for more friction, sighing frustratedly as he tutted and removed his hand completely.
He stepped away from you, pulling his underwear off and you finally caught the sight of his cock, long and thick, precum covering the tip. He grabbed himself, slowly stroking himself as he stepped back towards you.
“Can I..?” You spoke, your eyes following his hands. “Be my guest, princess.”
Fred could’ve died happy, he thought, with your pretty lips around his cock, your hands pumping what wouldn’t fit into your mouth, letting out groans as your tongue swirled around the tip.
He felt himself twitch, when suddenly you’d pulled away and he knew as he watched you stand up with your swollen lips curling into a smile that it was your way of paying him back for denying you yours before.
“Dangerous game you’re playing here, love,” He warned, stepping towards you.
“I’m playing to win,” you replied, crossing your arms over your chest and absent-mindedly pushing your breasts up with the action.
Fred groaned, “I need to be inside of you.”
His hands were back on you, kissing you again before he guided himself to push inside of you. You both groaned together, breaths hitting the other as he thrusted up into you, pinning you against the wall. He grabbed your waist, his muscles flexing, sweat beading along his collarbone as you leant forward to kiss his neck, biting the spot under his ear that made him suddenly moan and his hips stutter.
“Look at you, taking my cock so well,” he breathed out, his abs tightening with every push into you.
He then nodded over to the till counter just behind you, “See that counter? I’ve been thinking about bending you over it all day.”
“Then why don’t you?” You gasped out your breath hitching in your throat as he gave a particularly deep thrust.
Without a reply, he pulled out of you, making you whimper at the empty feeling, before pulling you over to the counter quickly. He shoved the product trays onto the floor, unbothered by them crashing to the floor as he pressed a rough, dirty kiss to your lips before turning you around and bending you over like he’d imagined so many times before. His hands roamed across your bum, squeezing before pushing back into you and making you cry out.
His hands were on your waist as he pounded into you, before he reached around to pull you up so your back hit his chest, both of you glancing towards the large front window of the shop.
“Anyone could come by and see us, but you don’t care about that do you? Just as long as I keep making you feel good,” he growled in your ear, and you felt yourself clench around his cock, earning a groan from him.
“Freddie,” you whispered, your head falling back against his shoulder as you felt your stomach tightening, building up to your release, “I’m gonna- I’m gonna-“
“There’s a good girl,” Fred praised, a hand running up your stomach to hold one of your breasts, “You’re so good to me. Come for me, princess.”
You let out a moan as your climax washed over you, collapsing forward onto the counter as Fred thrusted into you a couple more times before releasing inside of you, gripping your hips as he groaned, his head falling against the back of your neck as you both tried to catch your breath.
“I love you,” he mumbled, his lips tracing across your back and down your shoulder. And in that moment, as you were coming down from your high, whispering the words back to him, you knew this was the start of something that neither of you were prepared for.
After all, you left each other breathless.

I Wanna Know What It’s Like (f.w.)
A/N: So, I am going to start making new Masterlists and today I was supposed to start them, but I’ve had this idea for an imagine in my head for weeks now so I am writing it instead. I also couldn’t choose who to write this for so I’m doing multiple variations of this for different characters and stuff. I decided to do Fred first bc my other Fred imagine was really sad so this is a way to make up for that unnecessary sadness.
I am also testing out a new scene divider, idk if I’ll like it, but we’ll see! This is a repost bc the tags weren’t working the first time a posted which was upsetting and I really hope that they work this time. This is another repost (last one for a while if this one doesn’t get any feedback or the tags don’t work).
Anyway, Enjoy!
Pairing: Fred Weasley x Gryffindor!Reader
Fandom: Harry Potter
Inspo: The Tik Tok audio for Let’s Be Friends by Emily Osment, links to the song below so you don’t have to search for it like I had to 😂
                  - The song the Tik Tok audio is cut from                   - Slowed version I found and really like
Warnings: None except making out I guess. Some NSFW hints and thoughts. Like downright sinful thoughts. Hints towards a kinky reader? (Is that even a warning? And is wanting to be completely railed a kink? Is it?)

Y/n couldn’t seem to pull her eyes from the red-head seated next to his identical twin. The pair of them sitting farther down the Gryffindor table than Y/n and her friends. The hall was silent as all the students were working on their essays, being monitored by Snape, but the greasy Potions Master nor the rules silenced the twins - them having found a loophole that let them annoy the largely hated Professor. There was a rule about no talking, but he couldn’t punish them if they never spoke actual words, could he? From where she sat, she could hear their loud grunts and hums from their wordless conversation with each other.
She didn’t understand the sudden fascination with the Weasley boy. It confused her since when she had left Hogwarts last year, she found him annoying, but alas, once she laid eyes on him for the first time this year at the Welcoming Feast, something had changed. She definitely couldn’t pin-point it to save her soul. Maybe it was the fact that he had grown his hair out, but then she’d also be attracted to his twin since he had done the same. Could it have been that she finally developed her attraction to bad boys? Was she looking to spice up her dating life since her past boyfriends had been quite lackluster with their golden-boy attitudes? Whatever it was, it made her question her sanity since this was Fred Weasley she was talking about. The same boy who decided it would be funny to throw a large Dungbomb into her dorm in First Year. She had stunk for a good two weeks along with the only other girl that was in her room at the time.
“L/n,” The monotone drawl of Snape made her feel like someone had just dumped a bucket of ice water over her - which she was thankful for since she could sense her thoughts for the red-head were about to take a steamier turn. Gulping, she slowly turned her head to look at the scowling man donned in black. “I suspect that you’re done your essay already since you certainly do not look like you’re working on it anymore. Didn’t take you to be too keen about potions based on your unsuccessful potion brewing.” His voice was slow and sharp, showing that he was not in the mood to even be pleasant to Gryffindors.
“Almost, sir. Just a bit distracted. Sorry, Professor.” She shrunk under his hardening glare, realizing that he probably didn’t want her to answer his statement.
“Five points from Gryffindor for talking, L/n.” Snape sneered making Y/n’s jaw fall in shock. Her eyes stared up at him in disbelief. He was the one who talked to her first!
“But I was just-”
“Another five points from Gryffindor, need I take more?” Snape asked in a threatening tone, his frame seeming to grow and tower over the girl, intimidating her. She gulped, shaking her head nervously, remaining silent. She might not be someone who thought things through before acting, but she certainly did learn from her mistakes - usually after the second time. With a nod and a flick of his long cloak, Snape stalked along the table, glaring at the Weasley twins as they continued on with their nonsense, pushing his buttons as he waited for the moment one of them slipped up. Huffing as she casted one last glance towards Fred, she couldn’t help letting the question slip through her lips.
“When did he get hot?” Her eyes widened when she realized she muttered the words out loud. Her friends looked up from their own essays, snickering at the red-faced Gryffindor. A few other Gryffindors looked up at the girl in confusion, but she noticed that her quiet voice hadn’t reached the students near the Twins. She let out the breath she held, thinking that she was safe from embarrassment from Fred hearing and Snape hearing, but her false sense of security was yanked out from under her.
“Another five points from Gryffindor, Miss L/n!” She cringed, peeking up to see Snape glaring at her from the middle of the Great Hall. A groan emitted from her before her forehead fell against where she thought her pile of parchment and books were only for it to thud against the wooden table harshly. She didn’t react, only hissing and scrunching her face in pain but otherwise keeping her head down.
_____________________________________________________________________
Saturday was the day of relaxation. Where you ignore all your problems like the load of homework you had due on Monday. The day was designed for this, putting everything off and worrying about it on Sunday when you had a pile of work that needed to be done in the single day. Y/n was the queen of blissful Saturday ignorance which is why it was so surprising to see her sitting outside, staring blankly at the lake (at least they thought it was the lake) as she clearly worried about something. Her friends, in turn, ended up breaking their Saturday tradition to worry about their friend.
In reality, Y/n wasn’t staring at a wall and she really wasn’t worried about anything. As her and her friends sat under the shade of a large tree, the Weasley Twins were tossing something into the lake. She was sure they were up to something, but that wasn’t on her mind. What was on her mind was the fact that she was still trying to figure out why she liked Fred Weasley. She had figured her feelings for the boy when she saw him flirting with some random Ravenclaw Prefect to create a distraction for George to slip past the Prefect and place their product in her bag that sat on the floor by her feet. Before realizing what the two masterminds had plotted, she felt a wave of unfamiliar anger flaring in the pit of her stomach - something she later diagnosed as jealously.
Her thoughts were definitely clouded with steamy thoughts that could be the contents of a dirty movie. As her eyes scanned over the tall boy standing at the shore of the lake, laughing mischievously with his twin, she couldn’t help but wonder if he was different than her past experiences. He was a flirt, he talked a big game, but when it got down to it, did he really know how to please her? Did he know how to make her scream louder than she ever has? Would he be scared to hurt her or would he not think twice to push her into the mattress and completely destroy her? “Y/n!” Her friend shoved her, making her almost topple over. Snapping her once glazed-over eyes to her friend, she saw her friend group blinking at her expectantly.
“What,” She asked, clearing her throat when her words came out too high to be played off as normal. The friend that had pushed her shared a concerned look with the others before looking back at the wide-eyed girl whose cheeks had become tinted with pink when she retraced her thoughts. “What do you want Cami?”
“We were talking about Cedric and asked you a question-” Another friend, Alyssa, popped into the conversation. Cedric, Hogwarts Heartthrob and Golden-boy. When Y/n broke up with Roger Davis, they were sure her and Cedric would pair up, they were the most attractive students at Hogwarts, they would be the power couple - it must have been destined. Y/n was even convinced that they would end up dating this year, but once she caught sight of Fred, that all went out the window. She wasn’t entirely convinced that it was entirely the oldest twin’s doing since when Y/n saw Cedric on the platform before boarding the train, she questioned what all the fawning was about. Sure, he was attractive, but he was too good. If she had dated him, she’d probably end up bored of the relationship just like the others.
“Repeated it ten times, too.” Her Hufflepuff friend, Sophie, spoke up.
“We wanted to know when you guys were going to get together? Word has it, Cho and him have been talking, you might want to jump on him when you have a chance! Ask him to the Yule Ball!” Cami regained control of the conversation. Y/n shrugged, opening her mouth to speak, but was interrupted by her other friend pointing off towards the lake.
“Look! Janet Green is going to ask Fred to the Yule Ball,” Alyssa exclaimed in a hushed, gossipy voice. Y/n instantly looked towards the lake to see the same Ravenclaw Prefect Fred flirted with approaching the snickering twins. “I heard she’s been plucking up the courage for days. Poor girl, hope he says yes. It’d be awfully embarrassing to be turned down after it’s all she’s been talking about!” She gushed in a fake sympathetic tone. She lived for drama and gossip, no matter what Fred answered, it’d be good for her since she’d be able to spread the news.
The group watched, Y/n hoping that Fred would say no. Janet started to talk, nervously playing with the ring on her pointer finger as she talked to him, George watching with a playful smirk on his face still. Y/n took in the younger twin’s form, seeing his shoulders shaking ever so slightly with smothered laughter, the smirk on his face saying that he knew the answer his brother was going to give. Y/n furrowed her brows as he obviously enjoyed the situation his brother was being placed in. “I can’t watch this-” Sophie gasped, being cut off.
“Be quiet, they’ll know we’re watching!” Alyssa hissed at her, whacking her with the muggle magazine her mother sent her. The snap of the magazine resulted in George flicking his eyes up to the group, all of their eyes widening, but his smirk just grew more and they could clearly see a sparkle in his eyes when he noticed Y/n staring intently down at the group. They could all see that his eyes stayed on her for a solid second, singling her out before he sent her a knowing wink before he looked back at his stammering twin.
“That,” Sophie breathed out. “Did not go well, poor girl.” She finished with a real sympathetic sigh.
“Yeah,” Alyssa let out a fake sigh before smiling brightly. “I’ve got to go tell Alicia Spinnet, she owes me ten sickles!” And with that, she scrambled up and was running towards the castle.
“Alyssa, no! You’ll embarrass the poor girl further!” Sophie gasped, chasing after her Gryffindor friend. Cami watched the two runoff, but Y/n couldn’t be bothered with them. She was too busy trying to decode what had just happened. From her thoughts to George’s wink. It was all like a secret code. She watched closely as George poked fun at Fred once the embarrassed Ravenclaw was far enough away. She hummed, noticing George trying to discretely point towards her as he tried to convince Fred of something. She could see Fred’s hair blowing slightly, the flaming hair looking smooth. Suddenly, her mind was clouded once again, imagining how it feels to have him press her up against a wall, her legs wrapped around his waist, their lips locked together in a heated kiss, their tongues invading each other’s mouth, her fingers tangled in the locks of fire-
“What are you doing, Y/n,” Cami asked, snapping her out of her daydream. She looked over at her friend to see her with furrowed brows. “You were,” She paused, looking disturbed by the next word she was going to say. “Moaning, I think?” She wasn’t even sure what Y/n was doing. Y/n would have normally flushed in embarrassment, but it seemed like her mind had a different plan. She wanted to know what the big deal about Fred Weasley was about. There must be something about him that she wanted, why else would she be plagued with these curiosities? She can’t even look at the guy without suddenly wondering something about him. She wanted to know how his lips tasted, to know if his hair was soft, if her fingers could glide right through his locks without getting caught on any tangles. She wanted to know everything her mind was wondering.
“I’m going to go get answers, that’s what.” She told her friend, making Cami more confused as she stood up, her eyes on Fred and George. George, seeing that Y/n was storming her way over, looking like she was on a mission quickly told his brother who seemed to freeze before turning around to see that his brother was telling the truth. After a second of shock, he plastered his normal smirk on his lips, but Y/n could see the nervousness in his eyes. She had studied that smirk since the beginning of the year after all.
Cami watched in shock and confusion as her friend marched up to Fred, standing in front of him. The tall boy looked down at her, his smirk still on his face (looking normal to her) as Y/n craned her neck to look at his face. “Hey, Fred.” Y/n smiled, completely unsure of how she was doing this. Her inner self was having a complete meltdown, her brain being overridden with confidence.
“Hello, Y/n.” He perked an eyebrow at the girl, feeling her confidence rolling from her, a stark difference from Janet a mere few minutes ago. She hummed, a smirk that she didn’t even know she could produce stretching onto her face. It was like she wasn’t even in control of her body, she was being driven by her sheer attraction to the boy standing in front of her.
“Let’s be friends so we can make out,” She came right out with it, Fred’s smirk falling as he nearly choked on his own spit, taken back by her statement. “You’re hot, I wanna know what it’d be like. We can go to the Yule Ball, sneak away to make out in a dark hallway,” She shrugged, her eyes glistening with the normal flirtatious sparkle Fred held in his. “Don’t you wanna know what it’d be like to make out with someone who has only been with good guys? Show me the wild side?” She stepped closer to him, her hand skimming his hip as she did so, her hip bone hitting just below his hip due to the height difference.
Fred was silent, his pupils completely blown as he processed what was going on. Her confidence faltered slightly, but she then remembered all the flirting tips she had read in Alyssa’s magazines. Walk away, leave them wanting more. She picked the dropped confidence up, adding more onto the surge she was miraculously given somehow. “If you want to take me up on the offer, you know where to find me.” She rolled up onto the balls of her feet, pressing a soft kiss to the skin close to Fred’s mouth while still being able to say it was the cheek before spinning around and sauntering back towards stunned Cami. It took everything in her to fight against her inner self that wanted to die right there not to drop the smirk, hoping that he’d come after her once he got over his shock.
The hand wrapping around her wrist didn’t surprise her, she almost knew it was coming. In a swift movement, she was whirled back around, facing Fred who panted slightly, a flirty smirk on his face as he gazed down at her. “I think I’ll take the offer,” He hummed, his eyes dropping down to look at her lips, his tongue swiping over his bottom lip hungrily. “You and me, the Yule Ball and a dark hallway, see you then.” He pressed a kiss to the very corner of her lips, regaining his confidence before releasing her wrist and walking back towards the lake where his brother smiled proudly. She watched him, the corners of her lips feeling the aftershocks of having his lips touch her. Cami walked up to stand beside her, looking at Fred and George as well.
“Guess you’re gonna need to get a really sexy dress now,” She commented, nodding absentmindedly. Y/n hummed in agreement, stunned that it had worked and that she had actually just did that. “Now I know why you’re a Gryffindor,” She added on before grabbing Y/n’s arm and dragging her back to the castle. “Come on, we need to make a list for possible dresses and Alyssa owes me the ten sickles Alicia is giving her.”

George Weasley X reader
Fluff!!
Warnings: Little bits of swearing
I’m actually so tired so this probably isn’t very coherent, i’ll come and fix it up at some point <3
Tumblr media
I threw myself on my bed after another day of watching Angelina hopelessly flirt with Fred, it was really starting to get to me. It started off with her just shamelessly laughing at one of his jokes, her always having her hands in his hair or always having her arm around him. She really doesn't get the message when Fred's trying to shake her off too either, he constantly gave her the hard shoulder, ignoring her slight touches to his arms or her looks to him from under her lashes. She knew he wasn't available, but she kept on with her not so subtle flirting.
It wasn't fair, I'd liked Fred since the first time i met him, my 2nd year at Hogwarts when I had temporarily replaced Angelina as a chaser after she had an accident on the pitch. I'd been friends with Ron, Harry and Hermione since first year, so it wasn't unusual for us all to be at the burrow the week before school started so we could all get our supplies together. You can imagine how I felt when arriving at the burrow the week before this school year to find Draco Malfoy's older sister hanging onto Fred's arm like a lost puppy.
"Come on Y/n, it's not that bad." I heard Hermione's voice cut across the silence from the other side of the room. "It's clear that he doesn't like her, if he did he wouldn't be snogging that Malfoy's older sister?"
I rolled my eyes. "Thanks Hermione that makes me feel loads better."
Hermione scoffed and threw a pillow at me. "Stop sulking, the yule balls coming up and you can't just wait around hoping that he'll ask you, tomorrow's the hogsmeade trip so we'll go up and look for dresses for you ok? Maybe we can get you stop moping around about it if we get you a nice dress and make you look like a bad bitch.  Anyway I don't know why you're sulking over him, when there's rumors that Diggory's going to ask you." She whispered the last bit but it was still loud enough to hear.
Diggory likes Cho, everyone knows that, and I know Fred would never go for someone two years younger than him, I just wish he would look at me the way he looks at Malfoy. With that thought I shut the curtains on my 4-poster and got comfy, from the other side I heard Hermione sigh as she did the same. I closed my eyes and slipped off into dreams of wishful thinking.
**
Hermione dragged me into the 4th dress shop of the day, she sat me down on a poof as she had a look round at the mass of dresses.
"Is there anything I could do for you dears?" A rather elderly woman came out of beaded doorway in the corner of the room.
Hermione looked her happily." The Yule Balls coming up soon, I was hoping that you could help find a dress for my friend here?" She gestured towards me.
The woman looked me sternly up and down an after looking at me for a few more seconds before speaking "I have just the thing." The woman walked through the beaded door and I sent Hermione a confused look which she returned.
The woman came back with a black lump of cloth in her hand, she gave it to me and pointed towards the dressing room as both her and Hermione looked at me expectantly. I sighed and went into the cramped room that looked like it was used more as a broom closet than a changing room. I slipped on the dress that fit comfortably on my body.
I stepped out of the cupboard, Hermione gasped and the Lady just simply looked at me triumphantly.
The dress was gorgeous, it was all black, the bottom of it was a long flowy skirt that fell into small bundles around my feet. The top of it had a white underlayer with a black sheen lace with flower patterns covering it, it was long sleeve but the material wasn't so restrictive as to make me turn into a pool of sweat the second I even make it into the hall. The neckline sat as a very low cut v-line allowing a canal that slightly showed the sides of my boobs. Wearing a bra with this would be a pain in the ass, but it was going to be worth it. Hermione looked at me. "Perfect." I sent her a massive smile which she returned.
**
"So you still haven't told me who you're going with" I started, we had just gotten to The Three Broomsticks and both of us where casually sipping on our butterbeer
Hermione bashfully looked down at the floor before looking around to see if anyone was listening, she leaned into me and whispered in my ear.
"Krum."
"Krum?!" I whisper-yelled back to her, she giggled and went back to sipping on her drink.
“How? What? When?” I stumbled with my words in disbelief.
I suddenly felt like I was being watched, I looked up to where I felt it from, and from the corner of the room I noticed two bunches of red hair, it was Fred and George. The second I looked over there George seemed to look over at something quickly. 'Weird' I thought, 'why would George be looking at me?'
"Oh god here we go. I’ll tell you everything later I promise, but look behind you" I heard Hermione sigh to herself, I moved my sight away from the twins to the direction that Hermione was looking. I locked eyes with the first triwizard Hogwarts champion.
‘Please don't come over here please don't come over here please don't come over here please don't come over here’ I started to repeat in my head, and to my dismay Cedric started to walk over, as he did I noticed a girl that I couldn't recognize sat at one of the tables next to me's face drop.
"Hey Y/N" Cedric smiled down at me.
"Hey Cedric, how are you?" I smiled back at him, I felt like I was being watched again.
"Hey Y/N I'll be back in a second I need to go do something." Hermione said whilst collecting her stuff and putting on her coat, I glared at her and she winked at me before walking off and exiting the pub.
"It looks like it's just the two of us now then?" Cedric grinned whilst sitting in Hermione's place.
"Yeah it looks like that."
We sat silently together until Cedric started again," So you bought your dress I see?" He gestured towards the bags that sat by my feet.
"Yes I have, it only took me 50 tries to find the perfect one." I joked and he laughed.
"What does it look like?" He tilt his head to the side slightly.
"That, Diggory, is a secret." Cedric blushed slightly at the use of his last name.
"You seemed to have finished your drink, do you want another one?" He asked.
"Yes please Cedric." He smiled, took our glasses, and got up to head toward to counter.
I looked around the room again only to see both of the twins staring at me, I furrowed my brows and waved at them. Awkwardly George started to wave back with Fred laughing at him for whatever reason. I averted my gaze away from them and snuck a glance at that girl from earlier only to be surprised to find she was nowhere to be found.
'Well I'd be damned' I thought 'the bitch can evaporate.'
Soon enough Cedric came back over with two fresh butter-beers in his hands, he out one down for him and the other for me.
"Thank you," I smiled at him making sure to bat my eyelids a few times. "What do I owe you?"
Without missing a beat he replied," Maybe a date to the Yule ball?"
Cedric looked at me expectantly, i could see the expectation in his eyes.
"If you insist." I grinned up at him.
He smiled ear to ear, "I'll get you at the stairs? Oh and hurry when you do because remember, we have to do the walk in." Cedric placed a kiss to my forehead before walking off.
'The dumbass forgot his drink, oh well, more for me I guess.'
My eyes once again found the twins, Fred's eyebrows were furrowed, almost in disappointment and George looked at me, seemingly upset. A pang went off in my chest, why the fuck am I feeling guilty? I did nothing wrong.
'Nope remember we are getting over Fred.' I sighed and put my head down. I downed my butter-beer and collected my stuff up to go and meet Hermione.
**
"Come on Y/N you can't get cold feet now! You have to go." Hermione dragged me. I huffed and let her lead me down to the top of the steps.
“I’ll go first so you can pluck up your courage.” Hermione held my hands tightly before letting go and making her way to the top of the steps.
I nodded. "Good luck!! Don't trip. You look gorgeous, go kill em'." She wished me the same and started to descend the stairs, I could hear people lose their breath seeing her, I mean damn right she's beautiful.
Once I knew she had gone with Krum I made my way out there. The second I had I wished I hadn't everyone was looking at me. At the bottom of the stairs I saw Cedric, his face bright red and his breath seemingly caught in his throat.
"Come on Diggory breathe if you don't soon you'll pass out."
"You can't blame me when you look as ethereal as Aphrodite herself." He winked at me, I giggled. Cedric smirked and held out his arm and, gladly, I took it. “That dress is gorgeous, i mean all of you is but, damn. Everyone’s looking at just how gorgeous you look.”
I blushed at Cedric’s words and looked around as we cued up for the first dance. As I guessed Fred had come with Malfoy's older sister, I looked around for George to see who he came with only to find him staring at me mouth agape, his date -a girl i didn’t recognise i assumed was in his year- looked up at him jealously, I winked at him and his face went as red as a tomato, I took my attention back and put it onto the fact that we had started to move towards the hall.
As soon as the music had started the time felt like it was flying, cedric wasn't as bad of a dancer then I had thought he was before and for what felt like forever he was twirling me around and I was trying not to step on his feet, though soon enough it seemed that the hall was half empty and I was off getting drinks.
"You know," A voice started from behind me. "You do look quite gorgeous tonight." I turned around to find Fred leaned up on the table.
I blushed, "Thank you Fred, you don't look to bad yourself." He chuckled and walked off.
WHAT THE FUCK JUST HAPPENED? DID I HEAR HIM RIGHT? WAS HE TALKING TO ME? WHY NOW? The voices in my head started to race in panic but somehow I still managed to take the drinks to Cedric, who just so happened to be snogging the face off Cho when I got there, Knew it.
I cleared my throat and they jumped apart.
"Refreshments" I handed them both a drink and walked away. I noticed Harry and Ron sat alone, staring at everyone else who was dancing, so I decided to go join them.
"So we all out here lonely hmm." Harry sent me a nod and a small smile whilst Ron looked ready to explode.
"Did you know?" Ron asked angrily?
"What?"
"About Hermione and Krum?"
"Well time to go then." Harry hid his grin with his hand, and with that I walked out of the great hall, deciding to not get involved with Ron whilst he was drunk on the atmosphere and jealousy. I decided I needed a bit of fresh air, the great hall had become stuffy and it was difficult to breathe in the heat, so I decided to head out.
I crossed the courtyard, headed out the gate and traveled half way down the hill. Eventually, I got to a flat piece of grass that looked comfy enough and laid myself down on the damp greenery. I finally let out a sigh and looked up at the stars. It was completely peaceful, the cold air gently caressing my face and cooling the heat that had spread across my cheeks in the warm hall, until about two minutes later I felt a presence settle down beside me, also looking at the stars. I didn't have the energy or the interest to see who it was, all I cared about was right now they were quite and, so far, they where. After another 5-7 minutes I finally decided to see who it was, and to my surprise, it was George. He seemed to be equally as fixated on the stars. Now it may have been the punch talking but my head was uncomfortable and he looked comfy, so without another thought I rested my head on his chest.
George seemed to have tensed at the contact but he soon eased, he moved his arm to round my back and rested it on my waist. For a while we stayed like that.
For a while. George got up and I groaned in dissatisfaction at the loss of heat and a pillow. I heard the song change in the castle and George stretched out his hand. I now knew what he was doing, and I wanted to play along. So I took it.
George pulled me in closer to him so our faces where near centimetres apart, he slowly swayed us to the lyrics. I moved my head to bury it in his chest and he rested his chin on my head. I focused on his heartbeat's pattern as it rhythmically drummed as we made small circles on the lawn.
Soon the song ended but we still stayed like that, savouring each others heat and scent to memory. Finally he took my chin in his index finger and thumb to move my face up to his. I stared into his deep brown eyes as he stared into my E/C ones. He traced his thumb over my lips and leaned down, soon enough our lips met, fitting together perfectly like jigsaw pieces, each piece made for the other. We both eventually split apart for air much to our individual dismays. We locked eyes and both of us started to giggle.
"So maybe you'll let me take you to hogsmeade?" I grinned practically ear to ear.
"Definitely." He grinned just as wide back.
“You know I’ve been watching you, not in a creepy stalker way” I raised my eyebrow at his words and he rolled his eyes, “I was going to ask you when you where in the Three broomsticks but Diggory got to you before I could.”
“Well your with me now and he’s with who he wants to be with” George shot me a confused look.
“Cho?” He asked and i nodded.
He took my hand in his large one and we started to make our way back up to the castle.
"So why did you end up coming with that tosspot Diggory anyway?" George asked.
"No Georgie the question is why didn't you get to me before Diggory?" He chuckled.
"Georgie... that's new, I like it."
"Shut up."
"Yes ma'am" We stepped back into the hall. “Now will you let me dance with you properly?”
**
The large black balloon popped and a pink dust exploded out creating a small cloud.
"It's a girl!" Molly cried as she came over to hug me and George. I beamed up at him and he looked down at me with the same look. George took me into his arms and squeezed me tightly.
"Um excuse me sir have you forgotten I'm pregnant?" He quickly let go and looked down at me.
"Well if I can't do that then I'll do this." He started too lean down but I quickly pulled away.
"Stop it you'll traumatise Fred." He chuckled and pulled me into his side. We both watched our 3 year old son run around the garden playing tag with Teddy.
"How did I get so lucky?" I looked up at my husband who had a peaceful look resting on his face.
"God knows Georgie." I replied.
He chuckled through his nose."Mmmh Georgie."
"Shut up." He kissed my forehead and squeezed my arm. We really are very lucky, and i’m very very lucky to not have chosen the wrong twin.

Someone Blue//F.W.
Pairing: Fred Weasley x Fem!Reader
Warnings: Slight language, angst, a lot of confusion, fluffy ending
Summary: Fred spots a familiar face at his brother’s wedding, and has a sinking suspicion about why she’s acting so upset during this time of celebration.
Prompts: Enemies to Lovers (kind of) and Weddings with the dialogue prompts “you look like you need a hug” and “did you need something?”
Word Count: 3.2k
A/N: Day 1 of @theweasleyslut‘s 2k writing challenge
Angelina looked absolutely ethereal, skin glowing in the shimmering lights as she glided across the grass as if it was a ballroom floor. Her white dress was slightly stained, mostly from when her now husband tackled her to the ground after their first kiss as a married couple, and yet it only made her seem all the more angelic.
George’s feet seemed to never touch the ground. He was moving at record speeds, prancing and hopping and skipping around the dance floor, dragging his wife along with him. It was the most joyful Fred had ever seen him.
Not when they left Hogwarts, not when they opened their shop, not even when Angelina said yes to the proposal could have compared to the happiness on George’s face. Nor Angelina’s. They were in a pure state of bliss.
The rest of the wedding-goers seemed to match their energy. Fred couldn’t go anywhere without being bombarded with drunken laughs and horrid dancing, and the occasional congratulations or two from some tipsy guests who didn’t know that the man they were talking to wasn’t the groom.
All in all, it was an amazing night. The field behind the burrow had become a traditional wedding venue for the growing Weasley children, so far hosting Bill, Percy, Ron, and now George’s days to remember. The tents and lights were all set up as they were with Bill and Fleur’s wedding, except this time there was no risk of Death Eaters ruining the event. Hopefully.
However, while making his way around to talk to (and flirt with) the guests, Fred happened to notice one person who did not fit the overzealous tone. Well, he didn’t really happen to notice. Rather he’d been staring at her throughout the entire night, watching her somber mood break through her happy façade. Not that he’d ever admit that to anyone.
You were standing by yourself, but you weren’t secluded from the action. Rather, you were right in the middle of things, on the very edge of the dance floor, staring out at the masses of bodies swinging their partners around. Your arms were crossed over your chest, a defensive position that Fred had seen so many times in you before.
He turned away and tried to ignore it. It wasn’t any of his business if you were upset. The two of you were barely even friends anymore. You had cut him out of your life so many years ago and never looked back. To this day, Fred still didn’t know why, and it killed him.
He wanted to walk away. To go the other direction toward a beautiful guest wearing a flowing red dress, hair done up perfectly. The stranger would be the smart choice. A fun way to spend the evening, dancing around and snogging under moonlit trees. But, against his better judgement, Fred’s heart wouldn't let him leave.
Sighing, Fred lifted his feet and made his way in the other direction, to the girl who couldn’t care less about him.
You stood unmoving, except for a subtle sway to the music. People brushed by you, but you paid them no mind. You were too focused on something else. As Fred drew nearer, he was able to follow your line of sight to the people in question. The newlyweds.
Fred bristled before softening slightly. Of course. This must be about George. Back at Hogwarts, Fred was positive you had the biggest crush on his brother. You were always tagging along with their jokes, even when they got you into huge trouble. You definitely spent more time alone with George than Fred, sharing whispers and stares at the expense of the older twin. He could never get George to break and tell him what you two talked about. George even took you to the Yule Ball in your 6th year. You had never looked as radiant as you did that night, except for maybe this moment. Fred wished he had asked you to dance at the ball, but he never worked up the courage to. He didn’t want you to internally grimace at the thought of dancing with the “lesser” Weasley twin when George was right there.
In his recollection of memories, Fred hadn’t noticed how close he had gotten to you, and how you were no longer gazing at the couple dancing. You were now staring at him.
“Did you need something?”
Fred was shaken out of his imagination, met with an annoyed glare but soft smile coming from you. His surprise was immediately replaced with his signature cocky grin, leaning his hand onto one of the wedding tables while keeping his gaze on you. Unfortunately, his hand accidentally dipped into a wine glass, but he quickly pulled it out and hoped you didn’t notice. You did.
“Well, that’s not a very nice way to greet one of your oldest friends, now is it?” Fred wiped his wine-covered hand on his suit pants and slipped it into his pocket, pretending to be unbothered by his previous mistake.
You turned your eyes away from him, once again gluing them to the dance floor. “I think it’s fitting, seeing as how you were creepily staring at me for about 5 minutes before I said something.”
Fred’s ears grew pink at the accusation. “I, umm, I didn’t realize it was that long. Or that you noticed. Sorry.” He bashfully rubbed the back of his neck, pretending to glance around at other guests who might interest him more.
“You still haven’t answered me.”
Fred cocked his head to the side in question.
“Why’d you come over here? Was there something you needed?”
“Ah, yes well,” Fred began smoothly, “I saw this darling beauty from across the tent and I just could not take my eyes off of her--”
“Fred,” you interrupted. You were looking at him again, your gaze piercing through him, forcing him to tell you the truth, to tell you everything about him. His fears, his hopes and dreams, what he had for breakfast this morning. He wanted to tell you it all.
“The truth, please.”
Clearing his throat, and his mind of whatever thoughts just plagued him, Fred decided to be honest. You deserved that much.
“You look like you need a hug,” he said, shrugging nonchalantly.
Evidently, those were not the words you were expecting to hear. You were prepared with about a dozen quips to say in response to whatever cocky joke Fred was about to make. But he didn’t, and nothing could have prepared you for what he did say.
“I--I need a what?”
“Sorry, have you lost your hearing or was I not loud enough? It’s definitely not the second; you’ve told me on numerous occasions that I have the biggest mouth of anyone you know.”
There it was. But it still made you giggle, relaxing and gravitating closer to your companion.
“I heard you,” you said, “just wasn’t expecting that from you, I guess.”
Fred took a half step closer, visibly glad when you didn’t move away. “Wasn’t expecting me to have noticed your behavior, or wasn’t expecting me to care if I did?”
It took you a few seconds to respond. “Both.”
He let out a sound of understanding before you both averted your eyes, looking straight ahead. Occasionally, Fred would try to look at you using his peripheral vision, and you would do the same. It became a kind of game--just an awkward back and forth between two people who used to be so close, and were now so far apart.
You game ended when one of the wedding guests decided to clink their glass, beginning a chorus of high pitched chimes to echo throughout the room. You watched as George turned to find Angelina, running to her to give her a kiss so full of love and passion that it took everything Fred had not to shout out a joke and ruin the moment. He could do that next time.
He noticed you stiffen at the kiss, presumably because it was just another reminder of what you couldn’t have. George.
“You know, I always wanted to be a Weasley.”
Fred was surprised that you had spoken to him, and even more surprised about the turn the conversation had taken.
“I grew up with you guys,” you continued, not waiting for Fred to respond. “Molly was like my second mother, even though she always liked Hermione and Harry a bit more than me.”
“Join the club,” said Fred, causing you to laugh loudly, a sound he hadn’t heard from you in ages. Godric, how he had missed it.
“It’s just…” you trailed off, not knowing if you wanted to be open with Fred, someone you hadn’t spoken to in years. Chances were, you wouldn’t keep in touch much after the wedding, so you might as well. What was there to lose? “It’s just...seeing Angelina, one of my best friends, dance around, wearing that ring, getting to be an actual Weasley. It’s...it’s making me a wee bit jealous.”
Fred watched you fidget with a bracelet on your wrist and decided to push his luck just a bit more. “And you’re wishing that it could be you wearing the ring, married to a certain Weasley gentleman?”
The shock was evident in your expression. “No, no, it’s not--I mean I never…” Sighing, you decided to come clean. “Yeah, I’ve maybe been harboring feelings for a certain twin for, oh I don’t know, my entire life. No biggie though, it’s totally fine that he never asked me out.”
The ginger beside you threw an arm around your shoulder, handing you a glass of wine in the process. “Drink. It makes everything better.”
You glared at him, but took the glass anyways, chugging it down in a few large gulps. “Another, please,” you demanded, and Fred obliged.
You started to ease into Fred’s side, as soft and comforting as you remembered it to be, before realizing exactly what it was you were doing. “Fred, can I ask you something?”
“‘Course. You can ask me anything.” The absolute last thing Fred wanted to be doing at the moment was talking about your undying love for his twin brother, at his wedding no less, but he didn’t want to leave you alone. Not seeing you for so long had had a harsher effect on him than he thought, and he didn’t want to leave your side.
Taking a deep breath and gathering your courage, you asked him the question that had been plaguing your mind for years. The one that ate you from the inside out and kept you tossing and turning at night. The reason you had to separate yourself from your love in the first place. “Why am I not good enough?”
Your voice broke a tiny bit, but a lot less than you had been expecting. A tear did happen to slip out, and Fred quickly wiped it away, his fingertip resting on your cheek for a moment too long.
“Y/N, love, come here.” Fred pulled you into that hug he had talked about earlier, holding you closely to his chest. If he thought you were going to appreciate the gesture, he was wrong. You pushed him away softly, refusing to let any more tears fall.
“I’m serious, Fred. W-Why am I not good enough? I’ve made it clear for years and yet...nothing. And not even a simple rejection. I could’ve handled that, y’know. If I got a simple no, I could’ve handled it and moved on. But I never did, and it’s killing me. Why am I not good enough?”
It killed Fred to see you this upset, and it hurt him even more to see that the anger was directed at him and not at George. It was his brother that broke your heart after all, not him. “You are good enough!” Fred said, with enough truth and force that a little part of you believed it. “You’re, you’re too good! You’ve been by our side from the beginning and haven’t left it since. Well, we haven’t seen you in years, but that’s probably because of--”
You nodded, confirming what he thought. Your heartbreak had driven you away.
“But other than that,” he continued, “you’ve been like my third arm. Any guy would be crazy to give you up, you know that?”
A tiny smile grew on your face, but was gone as soon as it had arrived. “The timing...the timing was just all wrong, wasn’t it?” you asked.
Fred nodded, watching his brother and his wife greet guests and take pictures that were sure to be on the mantle in the burrow as soon as the wedding was over. “Yeah, I guess so. The prick should’ve asked you out sooner.”
“Oh I agree wholeheartedly, he is a prick,” you said, poking his arm, a gesture that slightly confused him. “So, I’m guessing there’s no chance of anything happening now? No sliver of hope that maybe this could work out?”
He hated that he would be the one to crush your dreams, but he couldn’t let you keep living in false hope. “Well,” he said, “the wedding bands are on and they both said ‘I do.’ Kind of hard to come back from that. I’m sorry.”
You froze, now more befuddled than you had been all night. “I...what?”
Before Fred could say anything you reached to grab his left hand, checking his ring finger for something you knew wasn’t there, but you had to be sure.
“Wedding bands? What in the world do you--” Realization hit you like a brick, and you wanted to slap yourself. Or Fred. Either one. But preferably the latter.
“Frederick, my dear love, who do you think we have been talking about this whole time?” you asked, voice genuine but also teasing.
Fred didn’t know what you all of a sudden found so amusing, but he was already doubting himself and he didn’t want you to make fun of him for whatever he had done wrong.
“Umm, well you said a Weasley, and then you said a Weasley twin. So I thought the answer was obvious.”
“Say it,” you demanded. “Who have we been talking about? Who am I in love with after years of unrequited feelings?”
He felt like he was walking into a trap, but he couldn’t figure out what it was. He hesitated for a few seconds before your searing gaze forced him to answer. “George. We’re talking about my brother George.”
No sooner had his words left his mouth than your hand came up to slap his head. “You idiot! Are you serious right now?”
Fred stood flabbergasted, racking his brain for who else you could have been talking about. George was a Weasley twin. You said you were in love with a Weasley twin. Who else was there?
“It’s you, you big oaf!”
Oh. OH! There were two Weasley twins, and he was one of them. Which meant…
“You’re in love with me?!”
By this point, heads were turned to watch the scene and people were not-so-subtly whispering to their partners.
You dragged a still surprised Fred through the crowd and out of the tents, finding a secluded enough area where you could talk.
Fred’s brain had still not been caught up. “It’s me? You’re in love with me? But, but what about George?”
You furrowed your brow, wondering how Fred could have so easily mistaken your feelings for him as those for another. “What about George?”
“You’re in love with him!”
“I most definitely am not!”
“The Yule Ball!” he spat out. “You went to the Yule Ball with him when we were 16!”
“Yes,” you said calmly, “and you went with Angelina, but I don’t see you two getting married. We went as friends and I talked to him about you the entire night. In fact, most of the time when we hung out I was talking about you. Made him swear not to tell though. I was never good about expressing my feelings.”
Fred put a hand to his head, a growing throb threatening to overtake his senses. “But why were you so sad tonight? You wanted to marry George!”
“No,” you said patiently. “I was sad because Angelina and George’s relationship worked out the way I was wishing one between you and I had. They fell in love during school, dated a few years later, and now she’s a part of your family. I wasn’t wishing it was just me out there with your brother. I was wishing that it was our wedding.”
You blushed heavily and buried your face in your hands, embarrassed by your bluntness about your feelings. “Oh, Godric, I shouldn’t have said that, now it’s more awkward. I, umm, I should probably get going.”
Fred grabbed your wrist before you could leave, pulling you into his chest. His eyes were wide, mouth hanging slightly ajar as he gazed down at your muddled expression.
“It’s me. I’m the one you love.”
He said it as more of a declaration rather than a question, but you could tell that he needed confirmation.
“Of course, Freddie,” you said. “It’s always been you.”
His hand wasted no time in going to the back of your head, pulling your face into his and melding your lips together in your first kiss with Fred Weasley. After the shock wore off, you were hastily kissing him back, hoping against all hope that he wouldn’t pull back and proclaim what a stupid mistake this all was. But he never did. You kissed and kissed and kissed until you were the one who had to pull back in order to catch your breath.
It took you both a few seconds to realize what had just happened, and for the first time you both were at a loss for words. “That was, umm…” you mumbled, trying to think of what to say.
“I love you too.”
Fred’s words were rushed out of his mouth, voice deep ragged. “I mean, when you said it was me, not George, that you loved. I, well, I love you too. Always have. Guess I just thought that you had a thing for George and I had no chance. Pretty silly of me, huh?”
“Downright stupid of you,” you replied, giggling as he pushed you away with a bashful smile gracing his lips.
“So,” he said quietly, inching closer to you once again, “is there a chance of anything happening now?” Fred repeated the words you had said earlier, making you smile wider than you had all night.
“Depends,” you said. “Are you gonna get the courage to ask me out?”
Fred waited for a moment before answering. “How about,” he said, offering his arm out for you to link with yours, “we have that dance we never got at the Yule Ball. And then that date we never got after, and then that relationship we never got as well. Oh! And then that wedding, and then a dog, maybe a few kids, a big house in the country--”
“Woahhh, slow down buddy, you haven’t ever properly asked me!”
You took his arm and made your way back to where the music continued to blare and festivities raged on.
“Y/N, love, may I have this dance?”
You pushed a strand of hair from his face, ruffling it up a little to give it that signature Fred Weasley style.
“Of course, Freddie. And every dance after that.”

Five Lies
Day 6, Story #2 is by @be11atrixthestrange
Author/Artist: be11atrixthestrange Pairing: Ron/Hermione Prompt: 5+1 Rating: M Trigger Warning(s) (if any): mentions of character death
---------------
Five Lies Five times Ron lied to Hermione, and one time he told the truth
---------------
-Year Four - The Common Room
Ron was thankful the common room was empty, because he needed a moment alone. He plopped down into an armchair by the fire, and breathed a heavy sigh. His throat felt tight, and his eyes stung with unshed tears. He didn't need a mirror to tell him that his face was as red as a beet; he could feel it.
Earlier in the Great Hall, Fleur had asked him to pass the bread, and he just stared at her. Like an idiot.
George's voice still echoed in his ear. "Ronniekins, aren't you going to say something?"
And then Fred had to make it worse. "He can't! He's too busy drooling."
It seemed that everyone followed suit and laughed at him, even Fleur, whose cheeks glowed pink, her expression full of amusement and pity.
Why did Fred and George always embarrass him? They also lost their cool around Fleur — it wasn't just Ron. None of the Weasley boys knew how to act around a Veela. Ron just wished he could control it better.
"Ron? Are you okay?"
Ron froze at the sound of Hermione's voice. He hadn't heard her come in. She took a seat in the armchair across from him, but he avoided her gaze, choosing to shake his head instead.
"They were just joking around, you know," she said. Her tone was sympathetic, and he realized that he didn't care that she almost caught him crying. She would never tell anyone.
"I wish they wouldn't," he said, the words escaping through gritted teeth.
"I know. It's not fair."
Ron could feel her intent gaze, and looked up to meet her eyes. He always liked her eyes. They were big and brown, but the specific shade changed all the time. In the firelight, they almost looked hazel. "Why do they always make fun of me?
Hermione shrugged. "They probably just think you fancy her."
Ron raised his eyebrows at her. "Who, Fleur?"
"Yes, Fleur. Who else?"
He did not fancy Fleur. He didn't even know her.
It was just her stupid Veela power that made him act like an idiot.
"Well, I don't fancy her. I don't fancy anyone." The phrase took a defensive tone, slipping from his lips without a second thought. As soon as he said it, he realized that it didn't even sound true.
"You really don't fancy anyone?" Something unrecognizable crossed her face. Surprise, maybe. Maybe Hermione really did think he fancied Fleur.
He looked her in the eye and wanted more than anything to tell her the truth, but it didn't feel like an option. The thought of telling Hermione that he did, in fact, fancy someone made him a thousand times more nervous than Fleur asking him to pass the bread.
"Really. I don't fancy anyone."
Hermione's eyes narrowed, almost as if she didn't believe him. "I'm going to go to bed," she said, before turning away and shuffling off toward the girls' dormitory.
Ron watched her walk away, confusion etched across his face. It felt like a premature end to their conversation. Maybe she knew he was lying?
He shook his head. It probably wasn't about him. It was possible she wasn't feeling well — she had been looking a little pale, anyway. With a shrug, Ron rose to his feet and started toward his own dormitory, hoping Hermione would feel better in the morning.
-Year Five- The Corridor
Ron never thought he'd look forward to Prefect rounds. He had assumed they'd be nothing but a chore, cutting into his valued free time, preventing him from getting down to the Quidditch pitch to practice. He thought he'd fall behind on homework by dedicating a certain number of hours each week to his duties, but it wasn't an issue at all.
As it turned out, he didn't mind the extra work. Patrolling the corridors at night was a nice reprieve from the stress of schoolwork, and it gave him a much-needed break from dealing with Harry's constant brooding.
It didn't hurt that he got to do it with Hermione. In fact, that's probably what made it most enjoyable. They hadn't spent much time together, just the two of them, in a long while. Not since Hogsmeade visits during their third year, and it was nice.
Ron noticed things about Hermione when they were alone, things he'd never have paid attention to otherwise. Like the way she ran her fingers along the wall when they turned a corner, like she was drawing a line in sand, or how she constantly tucked her hair behind her ears only for it to pop back out again.
He learned that she licked her lips right before she spoke, and that's how Ron knew she was about to interrupt him mid-conversation. It was infuriating when she did that, but he never wanted it to stop.
"What's left to check?" she asked, startling him.
"Oh, erm, just the seventh floor, I think," he said.
"Okay, let's go. Maybe we can finish rounds early."
She turned the corner, and Ron followed behind, watching her skip down the hall. Hermione seemed to like Prefect rounds too; he could tell by the bounce in her step. Everything about her seemed to be relaxed; her stride, her smile, and her overall demeanor. Her shirt hung loosely on her frame, as she'd released its top button, and her socks were pushed down to her ankles, as if even her clothes knew it was the end of the day.
He shouldn't be thinking about her clothes. That was dangerous territory.
Ron cleared his throat. "Yeah, that would be fun. Could always use more free time."
"Or, you could use the extra time to get ahead on McGonagall's essay," she teased, smiling back at him. His neck felt hot.
"Only if you help me."
"Of course," she said. "Homework is more fun when we do it together."
"I agree."
Ron was beside her now, and he stole another glance in her direction. Her face was flushed; it was warm on the higher floors, and her skin glowed from a light sheen of sweat. How had he never noticed that she had a few scattered freckles on her nose?
"Why do you keep doing that?" she asked. Her eyes were on him now, and he felt the warmth in his neck spreading.
"Doing what?" he asked, his tone defensive.
"You're staring at me!"
"I"m no—"
"Yes, you keep doing it," she argued. Although her cheeks were rosy and her eyes narrowed, she wore a faint smirk and didn't seem to be angry. She was just teasing him.
He kind of liked it.
"Well, if you must know, you have something on your cheek," he lied.
"I do?" asked Hermione as she wiped her face with her sleeve. "Did I get it?"
"No, let me try."
Hermione paused and took a step closer to him. He reached a hand up to her face to cup it and brushed a thumb across her cheek, trying to ignore the tidal wave that crashed in his stomach at the contact. Her skin was so soft.
He couldn't let his hand linger on her face without attracting suspicion, so with great effort, he let it drop to his side.
"Is it gone?"
"Um. Yeah."
She pressed a hand to her cheek. "What was it?"
Nothing. "Not sure," he said.
"Hmm," shrugged Hermione. "Well, thank you!" She turned to skip back down the hallway, a few strides in front of Ron.
"No problem," muttered Ron.
He could still feel a tingle on his thumb, the memory of her soft skin still fresh on his mind. He watched her run ahead of him, trying not to think too hard about the way her hair bounced or her skirt fluttered with each stride, because it was maddening.
He groaned. As maddening as it was, he hoped that would never stop. That way, he could keep it on the list of reasons to look forward to Prefect rounds.
-Year Six- The Courtyard
Finally, Ron was alone on a bench in the courtyard, having just convinced Lavender to let him be so he could "study". In reality, he just needed some space.
He liked her enough, but being with Lavender wasn't what he had imagined having a girlfriend to be like. It was nothing like being friends with a girl, at least from his limited experience. All Lavender wanted to do was snog, and Ron missed having someone to talk to, tease, and argue with.
Truth was, he missed Hermione. But unfortunately, she wanted nothing to do with him. She made that perfectly clear in the form of a flock of canaries, and he still had the scabs to remind him.
Ron closed his eyes and was enjoying the silence when the most unexpected voice pulled him back to the present.
"Hey."
His eyes snapped open to see Hermione standing there, right in front of him. Think of the devil.
"Hey." His response just spilled out of his mouth, and it didn't take on the angry tone he had intended. He sounded almost excited to see her.
Thankfully, she didn't seem to notice, shifting nervously from one foot to the other. "Ron, can I talk to you?"
Ron cleared his throat and asked in his most stoic tone, "Promise not to attack me again?"
"I promise."
"Then go on," he said, crossing his arms across his chest so Hermione could get a full view of his scars.
"I'm— I'm sorry about that." She motioned to his arms, and her eyes watered with tears.
"I know you are."
She averted her eyes and licked her lips before continuing. "I was jealous, and it wasn't fair. I hope you can forgive me someday."
She continued to stare intently toward the ground as her cheeks brightened, and Ron resisted a smile.
"You were jealous?" He asked, raising an eyebrow at her. He kept his face neutral, but he couldn't lie — it was a nice thing to hear. He just wished he heard it sooner.
Hermione nodded and finally met his gaze. "I was."
Her eyes were strikingly dark and deep, a fact he'd always appreciated, but had forgotten over the last few weeks. He could stare at them for hours, but he willed himself not to fall under their spell. "Why didn't you talk to me instead of turning birds on me?"
Everything would have been so much easier.
"That's why I'm talking to you now."
"Well, it's too bloody late. I'm with Lavender," he said, unsure who he was trying to convince.
"I know it's too late. I just wanted you to know."
It seemed like an eternity that they stood there in silence, neither wanting to continue the conversation nor feeling like it was over.
Hermione was the first to break the silence. "Are you happy with her?"
And how the hell was he supposed to answer that?
Ron was thrilled Lavender wanted to be with him. She wanted to kiss him, hold his hand in public, and call him her boyfriend. What wasn't to love? He should be happy with her, she was almost everything he had ever wanted.
That, and he'd be an ungrateful arse if he said no. "Yeah. I am."
She nodded solemnly, and Ron swore he could see her eyes glisten with tears. "Then I'll try to be happy for you too," she said, her voice cracking.
He opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out. It wouldn't have mattered anyway because Hermione had already turned her back to him and was walking away. He watched until she turned the corner, trying to convince himself that he had told her the truth.
-Year Seven- The Tent
Rain pounded against the canvas tent, and the way the sound echoed through the air made the space feel hollow and empty. Ron could feel the weight of the locket around his neck, its chain digging into his skin. It felt almost like icy fingers clutching his throat, threatening to squeeze should he try to ignore it. He didn't think he could ignore it, even if he tried. The cold metal against his skin paired with its threatening voice inside his head almost commanded more attention than the slowly healing wound on his shoulder.
Ron was lying on his cot, covered in blankets that seemed to do nothing to keep him warm. He could hear Hermione flipping through a book across the room in her own bed, probably just as cold as he was.
"How's your shoulder?" she asked. To Ron, her voice sounded full of both pity and impatience, as if her real question was why he hadn't healed yet. What was taking him so long?
She doesn't actually care about your shoulder.
"It's fine," he snapped back.
He could feel the tension in the pause that followed, and even though he wasn't looking at her, he could imagine her jaw clenching, her cheeks reddening, and her eyes rolling.
"You don't need anything?" she eventually asked, her tone stiff and controlled.
Listen to her. She thinks you're pathetic. Needy. It disgusts her.
Instead of answering, Ron just shook his head. He knew she was watching him because he could feel her big brown eyes boring into him.
"Okay then."
He heard her book close, then the sound of her sliding out of bed. Ron turned to look just as she bent down to rummage through her bag. She faced her back to him, and Ron could make out the shape of her bum through her sweatpants. It sent a pang of longing through his entire body, and the locket wasted no time latching on to the opportunity to harass him further.
Go ahead and look, but don't kid yourself; you'll never touch.
He averted his eyes when she stood up.
"What are you doing, then?" she asked, now clutching a different stack of books under her arm.
"Nothing."
"Nothing?" she chirped. Her voice wavered as she lost control of keeping it neutral. "You know we have horcruxes to find."
She narrowed her eyes, and her cheeks ignited with red. Her hair seemed to expand and swarm her head. It wasn't just anger that did that to her. She looked electric whenever her passion was kindled, whether due to anger, schoolwork, elf-rights, or him.
He could rile her up, and Merlin, did he enjoy doing it. He was always up for helping her unleash that stored up tension through an argument. Often he wondered how else he could help her find that release. A few ideas came to mind.
Never going to happen.
"Are you seriously angry at me?" he asked, his tone sharp and scathing.
"You know what? Yeah, I am," she launched back.
"Well, sorry I'm injured, Hermione," he laughed, now sitting up in bed. "Let's not forget that you're the one who got me splinched."
"And let's not forget that I'm doing everything I can to help you heal."
She thinks you're a burden. A waste of her time.
"Okay, then stop complaining about me not doing anything when you know I can't."
Hermione crossed her arms and took a step closer. Ron willed himself to keep his eyes on her face, even though her shirt was too big, so the sleeves fell off her shoulder, and there was a patch of exposed skin above her waistband, reminding Ron of how soft her skin was. It had been so long since he touched her.
"Then stop staring at me like that," she said. "I can't tell if you're mad at me or if you want me to do something for you, and honestly, I'm kind of sick of cooking you dinner and not even hearing a thank you."
Don't you dare give her the satisfaction of apologizing.
"Seriously, what do you want from me?" she continued.
What a loaded question. Ron wanted everything from her — her time, her attention, and her body. When she removed his shirt to check his wound, he wanted her to remove his trousers too. He wanted her to crawl in bed with him and let him take her clothes off, piece by piece. He wanted to be strong enough to hold himself up so she could slide underneath him and wrap her legs around his hips. He wanted to touch her, kiss her, shag her, and then hold her afterward, fall asleep together, and wake up entangled with her.
Too bad she doesn't want you back.
"I don't want anything from you."
She softened her stare and took a step back. Maybe he was reading too much into her expression, but Ron could have sworn he saw a flash of disappointment on her face, as if she hoped there would be something he wanted from her.
You're imagining that.
"Good," she said, unknowingly confirming the locket's taunt, before turning away and leaving him there, in his bed, cold and alone.
-Year Seven- Shell Cottage
Although Ron might have looked peaceful and serene sitting so still, his mind was anything but calm. He closed his eyes and leaned against the back of the armchair, trying his best to fall asleep, but he was far from tired. His back ached, and he longed to get up and move, but it wasn't worth leaving Hermione's side.
It felt like he had been waiting days for her to wake up, and in that time, he had imagined the worst.
For one, he feared that she might not wake up at all, ever, and the empty hole that her screams had carved within him would be there for the rest of his life, like a scar across his heart.
Two, that she might wake up but never be the same, just like Neville's parents. Maybe she wouldn't remember him. Maybe she would, but she wouldn't understand when he told her he loved her.
And three, that she'd awake with clarity, forever haunted by the memory of what happened to her. Maybe she'd associate her trauma with the magical world, or with Ron himself, and she'd leave it all behind. He'd support her, of course, and he'd be thrilled she was okay, but he wouldn't be okay. He wasn't okay.
So he sat there, looking peaceful but panicking internally. He had no idea what to expect when and if Hermione woke up.
He was utterly shocked when she spoke to him.
"Hi, Ron," her voice snapped his eyes open. She was watching him, even smiling at him. For a moment, he thought he was dreaming.
She chuckled when he pinched himself.
"Oh, thank Merlin you're awake," he said when his pinch did nothing.
"Did you sleep here?"
"Yeah. I hope that's okay," he said, shifting uncomfortably in his chair.
"Have you left my side?" she asked, her eyes wide, questioning yet knowing.
He shook his head no, and his cheeks grew hot.
"Thank you," she whispered.
He smiled at her, and she smiled back. There was something so innocent about the interaction; it felt like they were just kids nervously admitting a crush. Her hand was lying on the edge of the bed, inches from his, and he didn't hesitate to reach for it and intertwine their fingers. She squeezed his hand back, although weakly, and he ran his thumb across her skin. Even bloodied and scarred, her skin was as soft as he remembered.
"I'm so glad you're okay," he said.
"Me too."
"Are you in pain?"
She nodded. "A little."
"I can have Fleur bring up some pain potion."
"Yeah, but not yet."
"In a bit, then."
They shared a look, an acknowledgement that they were alone, and pain potion could wait. Neither felt the need to give it words, they were awful with words, the king and queen of miscommunication, but there was nothing to misinterpret in a simple look.
"Can I hug you? Gently, of course."
Hermione nodded, and Ron inched forward on his chair to wrap his arms around her. Her head nestled into his shoulder, and he buried his face in her hair.
"How's Harry?" she asked, her voice muffled by his shoulder.
"He's fine," Ron answered. "Worried about you, of course."
She nodded. "And you?"
"What about me?"
"Are you okay?"
Ron sighed and pulled her closer. Was he okay? He had a few cuts and bruises, but that was nothing compared to his emotional toll. He helplessly listened to Bellatrix torture the woman he loved, hadn't slept since they arrived at Shell Cottage, and had spent days fearing she'd be gone. In those days, he learned exactly how much was at stake. He could still lose her.
He wasn't okay.
"Yes, I'm okay," he muttered, hoping that it would be true soon enough.
-After The Battle-
The Treehouse
Ron didn't mind the quiet of the treehouse; it was much better than the silence of the Burrow. At least the treehouse was supposed to be that way. He was leaning over the edge, forearms on a wooden beam, and through the leaves, he could make out the tall, lopsided house he called home. Before now, the Burrow always looked like it was bursting at the seams, about to collapse from the energy inside. His mum would say it was magic that held it together, not carpentry, but now it didn't matter. It seemed empty, and the magic was gone.
The treehouse was where Ron would always come when he needed to be alone. With six siblings, there was always someone yelling, laughing or crying. But not with five. Even though there were so many people back in the house, it was still too quiet. No one knew what to say, so they said nothing. Fred wouldn't have wanted that.
"Hi."
Ron startled at the voice. He had been too lost in his thoughts to hear anyone approaching but instantly relaxed when Hermione stepped up beside him, shoulder to shoulder. He smiled; in the days following Fred's death, Hermione was the only one who could elicit that reaction from him.
"I brought you something," she said.
He looked down at her hand to see that she was holding a plate of food — Mum's shepherd's pie, treacle tart, and pumpkin juice.
"Thank you, Hermione," he said as she handed him the plate. "I didn't want to go inside and talk to people."
"I know."
Ron turned away from the edge and slid to a seat, resting the plate on his lap. Hermione settled in beside him. "How'd you know where I was?"
She leaned her head against his shoulder. "I had a hunch."
Ron thought back to the last time they had been in the treehouse together — the previous summer before Harry arrived. He didn't even remember the first time he brought her here, but through all those summers, the treehouse became a place where they could just be. They could do whatever they wanted here, yet not once had she rested her head on his shoulder.
He looped his free arm around her, encouraging her to lean in, and pressed a kiss to her hair. He had always wanted to do that, and it was so strange to be able to now. If the circumstances were better, he'd like to do so much more.
"Will you stay?" he asked.
"As long as you need me to."
The longer they sat there in comfortable silence, leaning against one another and eating from the same plate, the more he wished they could just stay there forever. It was the perfect place to hide from his grief.
Maybe he shouldn't be hiding from grief, but the pain of Fred's loss only accentuated what he felt for Hermione. It was about time he had something to be happy about, even if that happiness was confined within the walls of the treehouse. After all, he had a feeling that the reality of Fred's death would hit him like a ton of bricks as soon as he left.
So maybe he'd just stay.
"What's on your mind?" asked Hermione.
She was on his mind but based on her smirk, she knew that. He must have been staring at her. That had been happening a lot lately.
"Do you really want to know?"
"Of course."
He'd never told her how he felt, but he was in the treehouse, where everything was perfect, and nothing could go wrong. Now was as good a time as any.
"I'm thinking about how much I love you."
She met his gaze and he watched those warm brown eyes grow wide. "Really?"
"Yes," he said, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "You don't have to say it back, I know it's soon—"
"I love you too," she interrupted, leaning her head against his hand. "Always have."
Even though a world of mourning awaited Ron outside of the treehouse, he couldn't help but smile. Hermione could do that for him; she was just like the magic that once held his house together.
"Brilliant," he said as he leaned in for a kiss, one that she happily returned.
He loved that they could do this now.
It was an odd feeling, being so genuinely elated and grief-stricken at the same time, but he simply couldn't feel any other way; it was the truth. And at this point, if anyone deserved the truth, it was Hermione.

It was like pouring salt into an open wound. You forced yourself to look at Fred, how happy he looked as he linked arms with Angelina in the hallway, smiling widely, whispering something into her that made her throw her head back with laughter. You tried to convince yourself that making yourself watch them showed him that you weren’t heartbroken or sad or sorry for yourself when in reality, you were trying to cover up the fact that you were miserable. The wallowing feeling of jealousy and sadness ate away at your stomach lining as you nibbled on your bottom lip, trying to remain composed as they passed you in the corridors.
After they were out of your sightline, you let go of the breath you didn’t realize you were holding in as George places a hand on your shoulder. “You can’t keep beating yourself up about this, (Y/N),” he wraps his arm around your shoulder as you lean into him with a pained groan. “I know it’s been difficult for you, but it’s been two months. No need to dwell on someone like my brother. It’s not worth your precious time, darling,” he tells you as you walk down the halls of the castle, making your way to the Great Hall.
With a huff, you look up at George who gives you a knowing look. He was right, but at the same time, there was no way he could understand the kind of pain it was to be so heartbroken, but still so head over heels for someone. “I can’t help it, George. It’s not something I can just get over. I didn’t just have a crush on Fred. He felt something too or else what happened that night wouldn’t have happened...” you trail off, the memory of that night playing in your head as you cringed to yourself.
Spirits were high as music blared in the common room. Laughter and celebration was in order. A great quidditch game was just won by the Gryffindor team against Slytherin and that meant a common room party unlike any other. Lee Jordan pushed the couch against the wall, clearing the space for a dance floor as Ron and Harry started pour up stiff cups of Fire Whiskey, Daisyroot Draught, and Gigglewater.
“Georgie, put on something that people can actually dance to! Enough of the bloody Cotton-Eyed Joe!” Lee groans out as George bursts out into a fit of laughter, changing the song to something more universally enjoyable. “The Macarena is not acceptable either!”
Fred grabs a drink as people filed into the common room behind him, filling up the space quite quickly. Your heart flutters at the sight of Fred, but you bury your face in your cup as you take a swig of whatever liquor Ron had poured for you. “Oh come on, Jordan, the Macarena is a fan favorite!” Fred laughs as you shake your head, Fred dropping his left eye in a wink, making you gulp and avert your eyes as if it were wrong to look at the tall ginger.
Lee rolls his eyes and makes his way over to the boom box. “You both are dickheads, I’ll man the music,” Lee groans before switching the music to ABBA as people cheer out as the music fills the space. “See? People like ABBA. Not the fucking Macarena.”
Soon enough, everyone has a drink in their hand and is on the dance floor, screaming out the lyrics to Mamma Mia so loud that you could barely hear the original music that came from the boom box settled in the corner of the room. Instead of joining the masses on the dance floor, you kept to the side lines, sipping on your drink as you made conversation with Katie and Alicia, laughing at a joke Katie had just told. Every once in a while you would look at the dance floor, watching Fred as he jumped up and down, holding onto his brother and Lee, laughing as the liquid in their cups sloshed around. You smiled to yourself, seeing how happy they all were, especially Fred. The way his dimple-y grin caused a grin to appear on your face as you watched his every move.
Fred was one of those crushes that no matter how hard you tried, you couldn’t stop liking him. You tried distancing yourself, but that only made the feelings grow stronger. And it didn’t help that you were close with his family. Whenever you were with George, Fred had managed to weasel his way into the conversation. If you were with Ron, Fred would always pull you away so you could hang out with “the more exciting Weasley.” No matter what you did, the crush to Fred Weasley stuck.
You shake away your thoughts as you turned your attention back onto the conversation with Katie and Alicia. Looking down at your cup, you see how empty it was. “I’m gonna grab another drink, anyone want more?” you survey the girls as they shake their heads. You make your way to the drink table, passing the dance floor before reaching the punch bowl. But before you could pour yourself another drink, you feel a pair of hands grab your sides, squeezing them abruptly, making you squeal out. “Oh my days!” you grab your chest as you turn and see it was just Fred. “What the hell is wrong with you,” you slap his arm with a small smile on your lips.
He laughs, “Why aren’t you on the dance floor? I know you can dance, (Y/N),” he teases you as you roll your eyes. Fred places your cup on the table and grabs your hands, trying to pull you to the dance floor.
“No, no, no,” you groan in protest, pulling away from him. “I’m not dancing, Weasley.”
Fred has a cheeky smile on his face as he gives you a look that screams, Oh come on. “You know you want to,” he sing songs. “Your favorite song is playing too!” he tells you.
Furrowing your brows, you speak, “No, it’s not.” He holds up a finger before the song switches abruptly to Dancing Queen as the crowd cheers out in excitement. You give him a look, knowing that Fred had planned this. “Oh, you cheeky bastard. You can’t play this song and expect me to stay still,” you laugh as Fred joins in, wrapping his arm around you, the two of you running to the dance floor.
The two of you start scream singing the lyrics to the ABBA classic, Fred twirling you on the dance floor into his chest as the two of you rock back and forth to the music. You can’t help but sport the goofiest smile. You couldn’t be happier in this moment. You were in your favorite place with your favorite song playing, dancing with your favorite boy. Fred brought you close to his body, hips moving against yours as your heart rate escalated, face flushed. You would blame it on the dancing even though it was definitely a consequence of your close bodies.
“I’ll give it to you, (Y/L/N),” Fred speaks close to your ear. “You are the dancing queen.”
With a giggle, you reply, “Don’t you forget it, Weasley.”
As the song fades away in the background, the two of you just look at each other, small smiles on both of your lips as you take the other in. Fred’s hair was messy from dancing, but it was still pushed back to show his handsome face and strong features. His lips were curved up in a smile as he looked into your eyes, his big brown eyes filled with tenderness. He looked so happy and a happy Fred was a beautiful one.
You didn’t even know how long you two spent looking at each other, but it didn’t matter. In this moment, you were the only two people in the common room, the music still blaring as students didn’t stop dancing and singing and laughing. But it was all a blur in the background, Fred your only focus, and you were his.
It wasn’t until his forehead was pressed against yours that you noticed he was leaning down, pulling your faces closer together. You inhaled sharply through your lips as he made contact with your forehead. “Is this o-”
“Yes,” you cut him off sharply before he waits no longer to press his lips to yours as you melt into Fred completely, pulling his body closer to yours as his hands grab either side of your face, cupping your cheeks. The kiss was everything you had imagined. His lips tasted of sweet cinnamon that warmed up your cheeks and sent tingles down from your head to your toes. Fred’s lips moved gently against yours, his tongue sliding past your parted lips as you started softly snogging on the dance floor. Neither of you cared who watched or didn’t watch, right now this was about the two of you.
Fred gently pulled away, keeping his forehead pressed against yours, hands still cupping your cheeks as you smiled from ear to ear. He was silent for a moment. But then he didn’t say anything. He just pulled away, removing his hands from your face as you looked at him, a little puzzled. “Freddie?” you speak gently, reaching out for his hand.
But he didn’t let you touch him. He just spoke, “I need to take a step outside for a second.”
Before you could protest, he dashed through the maze of people and pushed the door to the common room open, disappearing. What just happened? Panic dashes through your veins as you follow him out of the common room and to the stairs. “Fred!” you call out for him as he turns around to see you standing there confused as he ran his fingers through his hair. “Hey, what’s wrong?”
He chuckles, “What’s wrong? (Y/N), I shouldn’t have kissed you.”
Your heart sinks and your mouth falls agape for a moment before you manage to speak, “What?”
“I shouldn’t have kissed you and I’m sorry for putting you in that position. It was wrong of me. You’re my best mate and I just royally fucked things up for us, didn’t I? I don’t want this to change anything between us,” Fred walks towards you, searching your eyes for hope for your friendship.
You smile gently and grab his hands. “Fred,” you start, “It’s not your fault at all, stop apologizing.” He exhaled, relieved. “But...I, um, I want things to change between us,” you confess as Fred gives you a puzzled look. “Fred, I like you. I’ve liked you for so long and when you kissed me I was so thrilled that you felt something too. Even if it was for a second.”
Fred sigh and stutters for a moment, looking down at his feet. “Good Godric,” he speaks just above a whisper as you force him to meet your gaze as you look at him, hopeful that he will reciprocate those feelings. “(Y/N)...” he gives a breathless laugh as you bite your bottom lip in anticipation. This would be his confession. He felt the same too. He had to. Or else he couldn’t have kissed you. “You mean everything to me. You’ve been my closest friend here for so long. But I’m afraid that’s all I see you as. My friend...I’m so sorry. I didn’t know you felt that way about me. I wouldn’t have kissed you if I knew.”
Your heart sinks to your feet as you peel your hands away from him and look at him with complete and utter heartbreak slapped all over your face. Fred immediately feels guilty when he sees your eyes become glassy. He tries to speak for himself but you don’t let him. “I have to go,” you speak breathily before running back into the common room, The Winner Takes It All blaring through the speakers. How fitting.
You couldn’t let anyone see you like this, so you ran straight to the girl’s dormitories, trying to avoid sorry eyes and worried glances. The tears flow freely down your face as you scurry to the stairs, hearing your name being called out by an all too familiar voice. But you don’t let yourself stop. You run up the stairs, away from it all. Away from him.
The night haunted you like some sort of sick joke. George knew how much it bothered you, so he tried his best not to bring it up. But seeing you so upset over something as silly as a crush on Fred made him upset. “Something you surely know about Fred is that is a damned idiot. He does a lot of things he shouldn’t,” George tells you as you lightly laugh. “But you can’t let him get the best of you.” You knew he was right, but you couldn’t help but morn this crush you’ve nurtured for so long.
And now Fred was able to move on like nothing happened between the two of you. You avoided talking directly to him, rather going through a sibling to talk to him indirectly or just ignoring him when you were in a group setting. But if he talked to you, you put on your brave face and flashed him a smile like nothing was wrong. This only encouraged Fred to move on as well and as a result, Fred was now taking Angelina Johnson to the Yule Ball.
“I just can’t believe he could bounce back like that though,” you speak as you walk into the Great Hall for lunch. “I mean really? He’s taking Angelina to the Yule Ball, one of our mutual friends, and he expects me to be fine? I don’t know. It just doesn’t sit right with me, Georgie,” you confess as you plop down at the table, letting your head hang in your hands.
Katie gives you a confused look before looking at George. “Is this about-”
“Yes,” George cuts her off as Katie nods her head, sipping her pumpkin juice. “Listen, forget about them, alright? It’s done. It’s over. You’re going to go to the Yule Ball, you’re going to look fucking fantastic, and you’re going to dance your ass off and have the time of your life with your hot date,” George shrugs as if it were a matter of fact.
A short curt laugh escapes your mouth. “Sounds great, George. Only problem is that I don’t have a hot date,” you give him a glare.
He smiles. “Of course you do. It’s me, you git,” he nudges you. You burst out laughing as Katie joins you, the two of you clutching your sides in amusement. “Hey! I make a hot date!” George exclaims over the laughter. “Besides, we have a great time together. We’ll take nice pictures, I’ll dress up for you, I’ll treat you like a proper lady. It’ll be fun. But expect no kisses. None of that will be happening,” he tells you with a shiver as you smack his arm. “It’s nothing against you! You’re just like my sister.”
“Yeah, yeah, fuck off, will ya?” you speak with a small smile as George chuckles, giving you a nudge. “Fine. We’ll go together to the Yule Ball. My dress is winter white, if you care. And please, don’t bring me one of those ugly corsage things.”
George smiles, “Aye-aye captain.” You sigh and start picking at the food on your plate. “Now you’ve got everything you need for the perfect night out. Aren’t you glad you’re going to the ball with me?” he asks as you roll your eyes, mimicking him.
“Who would agree to go to the ball with you?” a voice asks with a sneer grin in their voice.
Looking up stood Fred with Angelina by his side as they took their seats across the table. Your heart starts beating faster as you just look away and pick at the chips on your plate. George, reading your body language, speaks up for you. Thank Merlin you had a best mate who knew you so well. “(Y/N) is. We’re going as mates, of course, but figured we’d both have the best time that way,” George beams, wrapping his arm around your shoulder as you give him a smile.
Fred laughs, “That’s one way of putting it. (Y/N), if you need help getting out of it, blink twice,” he teases you with a grin as you gulp.
“Actually I’m really excited to go with George,” you exhale. “Might as well go with someone who I really care for then go with a date that I need to impress and don’t know that well. I reckon we’ll have a ball,” you wink to George who rolls his eyes, laughing at your awful joke as you smile.
Fred just watches the two of you chuckle together as he slowly nods his head. Katie interjects and speaks, “Reckon you chose the cuter Weasley twin too, (Y/N).”
You look at Katie knowingly and join her laughter as Fred calls out in protest, “Oi! Bell, piss off!” Katie spits a raspberry at him before scooting closer to you as you lean into her side. At least you knew George and Katie would have your backs.
Angelina looks at Fred, linking her arm in his yet again, “I think you’re still cute, Fred.” Her words make your stomach curdle, but you don’t let the expression show on your face. Instead, you continue to eat your food and distract yourself with a conversation with George about what he’ll be wearing to the ball.
The entire time you distract yourself from Fred, you can feel him steal glances at you, monitoring how you spoke to George, throwing your head back as you laughed, grabbing onto his arm as he leaned into you. You and George were mates, nothing more nothing less, don’t get that wrong. But still something about the interaction made Fred jealous for whatever reason. Regardless of how Fred felt, you couldn’t let yourself care. Fred had moved on and it was time for you to move on as well and enjoy a dance with your best friend.
--------------
“A few more pictures and then we can get going. Mum will have a cow if I don’t send her any,” George tells you as Katie groans as she plays photographer. “Oh, quit the bellyaching, Bell. Just two more.”
George stands behind you and places his hands on your hips as you place your hands over his, the two of you smiling as the camera flashes and snaps more pictures of the two of you. “My cheeks hurt, are we done?” you huff.
“Yeah, yeah,” George huffs. “Thanks, Bell,” he tells Katie as the group of you gets ready to leave the common room and head down with the masses to the Ball.
You run your hands down the front of your dress. The winter white silk clung to every curve of your body, the deep v necklace showing off your smooth skin. It wasn’t everyday that you got this dressed up; you almost felt out of place as you ran your finger through your hair, toying with the style you chose. “I look fine, right?” you ask George as you two link arms, headed to the ball.
George scoffs, “Fine? Fine? You look bloody gorgeous.” You smile fondly at George leaning into his side. “I’ve got the most beautiful girl on my arm, I feel like the luckiest guy in the world,” he nudges your arm as you chuckle. “I’m serious, I’m glad that we can go to the ball together, (Y/N).”
Looking at George with kind eyes, you speak, “I am too, Georgie.” George presses a kiss to your temple as you walk down the stairs, arm in arm. “Ugh, why couldn’t I have a crush on you and not your bloody fucking twin,” you speak through gritted teeth as George laughs.
“Would that be any better?” he looks at you knowingly as you huff. “That’s what I thought. Come on, you, I wanna show you off to Lee,” he giggles excitedly as you roll your eyes.
As you make your descent down the stairs, you scan the room. Everyone was dressed sharply in suits and beautiful ball gowns. Everyone looked phenomenal. And that’s when you saw him.
Perfectly tailored black suit. New. His hair slicked back, his gloved hands running through his hair. His hand held Angelina’s, but his eyes were all on you. You suddenly felt very aware of yourself in the space, but you didn’t let that throw you off balance. Instead, you held your head higher and smiled around at the people by you. But his eyes didn’t move from you. It was like you had him in a trance. A trance he had no intention of breaking.
When you reached the bottom of the stairs, you were greeted by Lee. “Wow,” he speaks. “Absolutely brilliant. You look incredible,” Lee beams. “And you look alright, (Y/L/N),” he teases as you roll your eyes, making George laugh. “I’m joking, you look phenomenal. I don’t know how you managed to get her to agree to go with you.”
George shrugs, “I have a gift, Jordan.”
You give George a look, “A gift for what? Behaving like a moron? In that case, yes, you have a very special gift.”
Almost on cue, a voice speaks from behind you saying, “You look great,” making you turn your head. You meet Fred’s gaze and you give him a soft smile while gulping. There he stood in his suited glory, Angelina clinging onto his arm, looking absolutely breathtaking. As much as you didn’t want to admit it, they made a very attractive couple.
“Thank you. You as well,” you say politely even though he did look absolutely ravishing. “You look lovely, Angie. Your dress is stunning.”
Angelina smiles and thanks you as the four of you just awkwardly stand there in a lull of silence. You look over to George, hoping he would take the hint and diffuse the tension. George notices your panicked stare and clears his throat, “If you don’t mind us, (Y/N) are going to go tear up the dance floor now.” He pulls your hand away from Fred as your eyes linger on him for another moment longer. “That wasn’t awkward at all,” he whispers to you. “In fact, that went better than I thought it would go.”
You sigh, “Don’t remind me. Now enough about them. I don’t want to think about it. I want a glass of punch and I want to dance.”
George squeezes your hand with a giddy smile. “Atta girl. Come on then.”
The entire night, you spent it surrounded by George, Lee, Katie, and Alicia, jumping around to the live music, laughing and smiling. It was your mission to forget about Fred and who he was dancing with, instead paying attention to your friends and how much fun you were having.
Katie grabbed your hands and pulled you into the lot of students on the dance floor as you twirled her around, making her giggle wildly. The two of you pressed against each other, dancing to the wailing live band as people sang screamed along to the music. You were having the time of your life and Fred became the last thing on your mind, too busy letting the music ripple through your body as you let your hips swing to the music.
But then the music slows down and over the mic the lead singer says, “Alright everyone. It’s that time of the night to grab that special someone and take it nice and slow.” With that, the band starts playing a slow song and soon everyone is in pairs, smiling at their date with eyes of adoration.
Katie huffs, “Well, that’s no fun, is it?” You laugh and push her arm, teasingly.
You feel a tap on your shoulder and see a bent at the waist George, offering you his hand. “M’lady,” he teases as you roll your eyes, accepting the extended hand with a smile. “I’ll try my best not to step on your feet.”
“Oof, that will be hard considering you have fat feet,” you tease him as he chuckles. One of George’s hands rests on your lower back as the other holds you hand delicately in his, you resting a hand on his shoulder.
The two of you begin to sway back and forth to the music as you sigh, scanning the ballroom, trying to inconspicuously look for that couple. “Don’t look for them, (Y/N). You know it’ll just make you upset,” George tells you.
But as the words leave his lips, your eyes land on them and your heart sinks into the floor beneath your feet. Angelina is giggling as Fred spins her around and pulls her back into his chest. Fred is chuckling as he holds her as if she were the most precious thing in the world. They looked so happy together and that’s what made you feel so upset. “Too late,” you huff as you watch Fred duck his head down, placing a kiss onto Angelina’s lips as you suck in a breath sharply. He kissed her just as he kissed you that night in the common room.
You turn away from the sight and look directly ahead of you, pretending you saw nothing with a shake of your head, but your eyes were fogging up with tears. “Don’t cry over him,” George squeezes the hand that rests in his. “We didn’t come here for you to cry over a boy. We came here to have fun. Crying isn’t any fun, is it?” he tries to catch your gaze as you give him a sad smile. “I don’t like seeing my best mate upset. Yeah, that’s right. My best mate.”
With a soft laugh, you take a deep breath in and calm yourself down. “You’re right. You’re right. We came here to have fun. I’m perfectly fine. I’m perfectly happy,” you tell George who gives you a reassuring wink as the two of you continue to sway. But with every passing moment, you keep wanting to look at them. What were they doing? Were they still dancing? Were they laughing? Were they kissing? What did Fred do?
Inevitably giving in, you turn and look at them again and see Angelina resting her head against Fred’s chest as they sway. Her eyes are closed peacefully as she listens the sound of Fred’s heartbeat mixing with the serene music that plays. But Fred on the other hand is looking right back at you. His eyes are fixated on the way his twin brother holds you in his arms, his jaw lightly clenched as you look directly back at him. Your eyes are full of pain that you try to blink away, but Fred knows how you are feeling. There was no place to hide. Fred Weasley knew you too well. “Look away,” George tells you as he follows your line of sight.
“I can’t,” you manage to sigh out. “He gets the very best of me.” You look at Fred’s eyes and how they stare deep into you. He knew that you wished it was you resting on his chest, and somewhere deep inside he wished the same. You avert your eyes from the boy and turn to George and speak, “Could we go outside? Get some fresh air?”
George nods, “Absolutely. Come on then.” You link your arm with George and start making your way out of the ballroom and away from the happy couples. Away from Fred.
The two of you make it out to the courtyard that was beautifully decorated with roses and mixed winter flowers as you suck in the cold, crisp air, refreshing your lungs and hot face. The breeze makes your dress bellow in the wind as George leans against the wall as you take a few deep breaths. “Take the time you need,” he tells you.
You turn to George with a kind smile. “I’m sorry I’m pulling you away from the ball. You should be having fun and not worrying about me. Quite the date I am,” you sarcastically laugh as George shakes his head.
“Don’t apologize. You’re not just my date, you’re my friend. I want to make sure that you’re doing okay. That’s my priority. Take the time you need and when you’re ready, we’ll go back in and spike the punch,” he jokes making you laugh. “Eh, why wait,” he shrugs before pulling out a small flask from his jacket pocket.
You laugh, “Of course you brought it with you. Godric, I love that we’re best friends.” George hands you the flask as you take a long drag from it, the warm whiskey trailing down your throat and warming up your chest and stomach. You hand him back the flask with a small grimace, making George chuckle before sipping from it as well. “I fucking hate balls.”
George shakes his head, “Yeah. I’m not too fond of them either. To be quite honest with you, I’d rather go back to the common room and fuck around.”
Your eyes light up. “Can we do that?” George furrows his brows in confusion. “What’s left to do at the ball? Pretend like we’re enjoying ourselves?” you ask. “I know the both of us are just going to drink more and pretend to like the music, so why not just go into the common room and drink more and listen to music we actually like?”
He smiles and shakes his head, “You sure?” You nod your head. “Alright. I’ll go tell Lee and Katie where we’re headed and then we get get out of here.” You smile and George starts walking back inside. “I’ll be back in a flash.”
As George disappears back into the castle, you sigh and look out at the courtyard. It was such a shame. A beautiful night to have a ball, spending a romantic night with someone. It wasn’t that you weren’t having fun with George, because George was always fun to be around, it was just not how you pictured the night going in your head. You pictured yourself to go with someone you fancied, ideally that person was Fred. You imagined that he would have asked you to the ball and you would have danced the night away, ending the night with him asking you to be his. It was a silly daydream though. But still a dream you hoped for none the less.
However, the memory of that night in the common room sat in your stomach like a rock. The feeling of being told that you weren’t what he wanted made you feel ill. You never wanted to feel like a second choice. You wanted someone who wanted you just as badly as you did. But apparently that wasn’t Fred.
“What are you doing out here alone?”
Without turning around you knew who it was and you wouldn’t dare look at him. Not right now. You had already seen enough of him. “Shouldn’t you be with Angelina?” you snap back, not intending to sound harsh, but the words came out that way regardless of intention.
You start to walk into the courtyard, allowing yourself to become distracting with the beautifully bloomed bouquets of flowers. The sound of Fred’s footsteps follow you into the courtyard as you gulp. “I saw you leave and I wanted to make sure that you were alright,” Fred tells you as you roll your eyes. “You’re still my friend, (Y/N). I care about you.”
With a small sarcastic chuckle, you reply, “Right. Good to know you care about me.”
In the distance, the roll of thunder sounds as you look up at the sky. What was once a clear night sky now becomes cloudy. But instead of retreating to the castle, you walk further into the gardens. Fred allowing himself to do the same. “I know that things have been complicated between us, (Y/N), but that doesn’t mean we can’t work this out. We can still be around each other without feeling awkward,” he tries to reason with you, but you simply keep walking away from him. You hear him groan before running ahead of you so he can look at your face. You abruptly stop when he appears in front of you. “Please, (Y/N). I can’t have you walk out of my life. You mean so much to me.”
You look at Fred’s apologetic face, but you don’t buy an ounce of it. No matter how much you wanted to take his hands in yours and tell him that you forgive him because you love him, you fight agains the urge and speak with a scowl, “You should have thought about that before you went along and kissed me.” Fred sighs and scoffs. “You know how I feel about you, Fred. And you’re choosing to pretend like I didn’t tell you. Do you know how uncomfortable that is?” you ask him genuinely.
Another rumble of thunder sounds as you look up at the sky with a groan, walking away from Fred again and deeper into the garden. But rather than Fred giving up, he follows you, chasing you through the maze of flowers. “How do you think I feel seeing you come here with my twin brother? Laughing and dancing and being around him constantly? You think it doesn’t make me uncomfortable?” he asks.
This makes you stop dead in your tracks and spin around to look at him. “You’re joking, right?” you scoff as Fred just looks at you. You huff out a laugh, bewildered that Fred would go so far to suggest that you had a thing for George. As you rub your hands over your face, you feel a drop from the sky hit your skin. Great. “George and I are friends!” you emphasize as Fred rolls his eyes. “You think I’m so calculating and manipulative that I would go after your twin? After you rejected me?” you spit at him.
“I don’t know what you think, (Y/N)! All I know is that when I see you with my brother it...does something to me. And I don’t know what it is, but I don’t like it,” Fred pulls at the roots of his hair as you frustratedly groan out. It was if the universe was feeling the same way; another rumble of thunder sounds as more droplets start falling from the dark sky.
You take a daring step towards Fred and say, “Well, I can’t help that your ego is so fragile that you get jealous that I’m having a good time with someone who isn’t you.” Fred rolls his eyes and runs hand over his mouth, shaking his head. You couldn’t believe that the two of you were having this conversation. With a burst of confidence, you yell, “Because you know what, Fred! I can’t keep pining over you! It makes me miserable! I’ve been doing it for so long and it’s exhausting. I can’t keep living like this, it makes me infuriated with myself. And now that I know that I have no chance with you, it’s pointless!” Fred runs his fingers through his hair and opens up his mouth to say something, but you cut him off, “But that night you kissed me...you made me think that we had a chance. A real chance. But it was all a lie, huh, Fred? You just wanted to take me out on a test drive before you committed to me.”
Your words make Fred’s heart sting and it’s evident by the look on his face. Your words were harsh, but it’s what Fred needed to hear. He was trying to string you along still when you didn’t want to be. And that’s when he explodes, throwing his hands in the air, surrendering, “I didn’t mean to kiss you that night in the common room! It was an honest mistake, heat of the moment! You weren’t a test drive, (Y/N)! Who do you think I am?!” he exclaims as you just shake your head. “I didn’t know you liked me! If I had known-”
“If you had known, you what? You would have found out eventually. And what were you going to do? String me along like some lovesick puppy?!” you exclaim, the lump in your throat rising as the rain starts to fall faster. The rain dampens your hair and the silk of your dress starts to absorb it. “Regardless if you knew I liked you or not, you still kissed me, Fred, and you can’t take that back! You kissed me! But instead of facing the problem as what it is, you’ve distracted yourself with someone new,” you protest as you allow the lump in your throat to burst as tears start to fall down your face, mixing with the fresh rain.
“That’s not fair to say,” Fred shakes his head, taking a step closer to you.
“No, what’s not fair is you being mad that I’m trying to move on!” you exclaim now, speaking through your tears, pushing Fred’s damp chest. He stumbles back at you continue, “What’s not fair is you telling me I can’t do what is best for me! What’s not fair is that no matter how much you hurt me or reject me or surround yourself with other women, I’ll still be head over heels for you, Fred Weasley! I’ll still want you even though you don’t want me! I’ll still be hopelessly devoted to you!” you confess with a sob, turning away from him, covering your face with your arms as you inhale shakily.
Fred doesn’t dare move a step closer to you. Instead, he stands there, listening to the rain pour down, hitting the tender Earth, the wetness absorbing into his fresh pressed suit. “What...do you mean?” he asks, genuinely confused.
With an exasperated laugh, you yell out, “I’m a fool! I’m a fool whose willing to sit around and wait for you!” pulling on the roots of your hair, you vomit everything you’ve been holding in. “I’m out of my fucking head, Fred! My mind is screaming to forget about you and move on, but my heart is telling me to not let go of you! You’ve pushed me aside! Completely! And I don’t know what to do! There’s nothing left for me to do!” you scream out in the pouring rain, the two of you completely soaked standing in the garden. Your chest is heaving in the rain as you just stare at Fred who looks at you, so sad and so torn up. But he is silent. For the first time in a long time, Fred Weasley is speechless.
In a more calm voice, you speak out in the garden over the rain, “I will always be foolishly and hopelessly devoted to you. And I’m sorry. So if I can’t let you go, you’ll have to be the one to do it.” Fred is still silent as you scoff, knowing that he can’t find the words he wants to say. He just stands there in the rain, hands in his pockets as you shake your head, pushing past him, through the garden to get back to the castle.
“(Y/N)!” he calls out as you ignore him, only picking up your pace as you run out of the courtyard and back into the castle. “(Y/N)!”
As you enter the castle, you see George who looks at you confused as to why you were suddenly drenched, but the rumble of thunder behind you answers his question. But that didn’t answer why you were crying. And then Fred runs into the castle, also completely drenched, and George puts together the puzzle pieces. Katie, who stands next to George, gives you a sad look before speaking, “Let’s get you dry.” You run into Katie’s arm, crying as she rubs your back and guides you up the stairs to get back to the common room.
George just stands there, looking at his twin, shaking his head. Fred looks at his twin, not knowing what to do now. Does he chase after you? Does he take care of you? But next to George stands Angelina who looks at him completely confused. Fred sighs, knowing that he’s really gotten himself into trouble. And there was no easy escape out of it.
Back in the common room, you have changed into cozy pajamas and are adorned with a fuzzy blanket as the fire roars, warming you up from the freezing rain. Katie sits next to you, rubbing your back as you rested your head on her shoulder. “You don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to. We can just sit here, have a drink, and listen to all the music you want,” she speaks as you nod against her shoulder. Lee hands Katie a cup to which she hands to you as you take a small sip of.
Lee turns on the boom box in the corner, gently switching through songs before the intro to Dancing Queen starts playing. The sound makes you sit up straight, reminding you of that same damned night as you speak up, “Change the song.” Lee gives you a confused look before switching the song to something different.
Katie gives you a puzzled look as you pull the blanket around you tighter. “I thought you loved that song.”
“Not anymore,” you sigh. “He ruined that too.”
-------------------
The days had gone by slowly but surely. Each day you separated yourself more and more from Fred and tried to keep interactions limited. But it was all difficult since seeing George meant seeing Fred. No matter what though, you knew that Katie and Alicia had your back, giving your hand a squeeze under the table at the Great Hall as he walked in with George.
Even though you knew the chances of you and Fred ever happening were down the toilet, you couldn’t help the fact that your heart still fluttered at the sight of him. Your stomach still did somersaults at the mention of his name. When you saw his silhouette in the hall, your heart raced with excitement and anticipation. But you couldn’t let yourself give into him.
You sat in your room one night, writing in your journal, keeping yourself busy as Alicia rose from her bed and put on her shoes. “I’m going to head down to the common room to meet up with Katie. We’re gonna study in the library. You wanna come?” she asks with a smile.
“I think I’m going to stay in. Thanks though,” you tell her before she slips out of the room. The door closes behind her as you shut your journal and huff, resting your arms on your shoulders.
Rising from the bed, you look out of your window and look at the beautiful Scottish scenery that was slowly being covered in snow. It was gorgeous, the green grass being covered in powdery white snow that shimmered in the late afternoon sun as it set in the horizon. You smiled to yourself softly as you watched the snow fall from the sky.
It brought you back one of the days it snowed three years ago. George had pounded on your door to put on snow shoes and your jacket. He insisted it was packing snow, perfect snow for a snowball fight. Of course, you had gotten ready in a flash, you, the twins, Katie, and Alicia all running outside of the castle to hurl snowballs at each other, laughing and squealing as the cold snow hit your skin. You remember Fred sneaking up behind you and dumping a chunk of snow down your shirt as you yelped out before smacking him with a snowball as he cackled. With a sneaky smile, you jumped on his back and did the same, shoving a snowball down his shirt as he yelled out, the cold snow melting against his warm skin. “Oh, you’ll pay for this one, (Y/L/N),” he called as you ran away from him with a giggle.
The memory made you smile, but was soon interrupted by the sound of pulsating music coming from what sounded like the common room. “What the hell?” you whisper to yourself as you slowly start to register the music as ABBA. “Good Godric,” you huff as you realize that Dancing Queen is the song being blared from the common room. You angrily slip on a pair of trainers before opening the door and making your way down the stairs. “Ever hear of the silencing spell?” you grumble.
As you descend the stairs, you start to call out, “Oi! Some people are trying to study! Would you knock it off?”
But as you reach the bottom of the stairs, you stop in your tracks as Fred stands in the middle of the common room, the boom box blaring ABBA, in his hands, a hand picked bouquet of the flowers from the courtyard. The same ones from the Yule Ball. Your eyes meet Fred’s as he turns off the boom box. “Fred,” you speak quietly.
“Hey,” he smiles at you. “I, um, I want to make a grand romantic gesture like they do in those muggle movies. I don’t know how successful the execution was. But it’s the thought that counts, right?” he gives a shaky laugh as you gulp, looking at him puzzled as to what this all was. Fred inhales shakily before speaking, “Angelina and I are over.” Your eyes widen and your heart stops. “Look, (Y/N). I haven’t been able to sleep since the Yule Ball. And I know that what I said to you that night was so uncalled for and so childish and stupid of me and I will forever be sorry for it. But what you said. About being hopelessly devoted to me. That keeps playing in my head on repeat.” You fold your arms across your chest and awkwardly shift your balance, trying to stay calm at his words. “And you said, since you can’t get over me, that I’ll have to do it. But truth is, (Y/N), there is no getting over you,” he sighs with a hopeful smile as you look up at him, heart beating against your rib cage. “I’m not letting go of you. I’m holding onto the very end of it all because you’re the one that I want. I want you and you only. And it took almost losing you to realize that. And I’m a dickhead for not realizing it earlier, but I’m just hoping that there is a part of you that still wants me,” he tells you as you look at his trembling hands, a small smile forming on your face.
You walk towards him slowly until you are face to face with Fred, looking into his worried, but hopeful eyes. You smile and pluck the bouquet from his hands as he lets out a breathy chuckle. “Nice flowers, Weasley,” you tease him as he smiles.
Fred puts one hand on your hip, pulling you close to him as he cups your cheek with the other hand. “I’m not saying we need to dive into things right now, if you want to take things slowly, then I’m more than happy to do that,” he tells you as you sigh. “I want to prove to you that I will be completely devoted to you, angel. I want to prove that I’m not going anywhere. I can’t hide it anymore. I am devoted to you.”
A goofy grin appears on your face as you give into Fred’s touch with a sigh. “Freddie, I do want to take things one day at a time,” you tell him as he shakes his head, still overjoyed at the thought that you would still have him. A small giggle escapes your lips. “You are quite adorable when you’re excited,” you tell him as he rolls his eyes. “I’m out of my head for you, Weasley.”
Fred pulls you impossibly closer to him as he sighs, “I’m head over heels for you, my darling.” And slowly, Fred presses his lips against yours as you melt into his touch. For once, things felt right.
