I just had a realization about Alcryst’s and Celine’s supports.

A lot of people say they like this support because Alcryst seems comfortable and speaks plainly during the entire chain - an obvious difference compared to his usual anxious and self-deprecating behavior. In fact, he even seems to take initiative during their interactions: he approaches Celine first, comforts her, and even brews a pot of tea for her.

But why does Alcryst act like this only during this support, even though there’s nothing significantly different about Celine compared to his other support partners?

While there’s nothing significant about the support partner herself, there is something significant about the setting of the interactions. This support chain is the only one of Alcryst’s that takes place during an established time: late at night.

We know Alcryst’s character represents The Moon, and The Moon owns the night - where it can shine and show it’s full, true self.

gotta admit i do feel. a little weird. about them killing tess via weird fetish-esque cordyceps kiss instead of having her go out fighting back like she did in the game. like i think there should be a middle ground, where tess can be vulnerable and believably terrified whilst still being strong. she can panic, and be heartbroken, and still be just as assertive as she was in the game. she can be terrified and have her moment of breathing through it, of refusing to go down without a fight. the idea of joel going forwards for tess doesn't hit quite as hard without her insisting that he has to do it, and that if he had any love or respect for her he'd grant her this final wish. idk. i do think this adaptation is still pretty darn great and near-perfect, but of all the things to fumble a little on, i really do wish it wasn't tess' death

Saw a video about ai art and while i agree with majority of the points made i heavily disagree with the final point about how ai art is going to force the art world to separate real ‘art’ and illustration because um, those two things are already separate things. As in nobody confuses Fine Art with (commercial) Illustration, these are already very defined categories. If we categorise ‘Retinal Art’ (as Duchamp defined it) as illustration too then we lose a huge part of what art is i.e. pretty pictures that , yes, exist to be pretty pictures. Landscapes, still life, portraits etc these are all things that can be easily defined as ‘frivolous’ and ‘vacuous’. Art started out as representations of the natural world that we saw around us. I think the video author is misunderstanding art severely if he insists that ‘real art’ be only stuff with ‘deeper meanings’; whatever that means.

Art consists of the following: the art object/artwork, the art space, the art audience, and finally, the artist. All of these together create the Art Experience. It’s through the Art Experience that you create a space for interpretation and ultimately derive ‘deeper meaning’. You don’t get deeper meaning by simply reading the artist’s statement, nor by just being at a gallery. It’s a combination of different things that with proper engagement with the artwork, creates what you would call Art. This is why social media sorta fails art because the fast paced nature of it dampens the engagement. People scroll by looking at a million posts, and don’t have the proper time or space to fully engage with a work.

This is where Ai art also fails. You can give a bot a prompt and get quick results, but you ultimately lose the connection between artwork and artist. The experience is forever incomplete. I do think however that Ai can be used to create Art. For example, my classmate Aleena Akbar Khan made a sculptural playground based on text prompts she gave to an Ai. She used Ai to explore fragmentation and what the human world translated to machine learning would look like. Why is this art? because she collected and melded materials to match the ai results, arranged them and recontextualized them to create something new. She transformed the Ai results to create an Art experience. This imo is the way Ai should be used, not to create cheap copies and steal artist’s work.

Now back to the video, retinal art or “pretty pictures” when experienced as Art, will ultimately derive meaning. There’s a reason why even today there is huge debate about what artworks (art object) should be considered art. DuChamp questioned it back in 1917 when he placed that urinal and the debate hasn’t ended since. In my opinion, if the urinal can be considered art, then so can all pretty pictures. Categories like high art, low art will always exist. They will also evolve over time. Low art or culture in one era can become the most prestigious, high art in the next.

I don’t think impermanent things should be cause for disrespecting art that has a deeply human appeal, especially if it’s not ‘deep’ enough for some.

Hey, you seem like a big warriors fan on tumblr. I keep seeing Warriors stuff on my feed. Thinking about potentially reading the books, but do you have any tips when there are literally eight major arcs, with six books in each, not including the standalone stuff. I’m really curious and I don’t have a lot of space in my house for 50 new books, do you know about any way to kind of pare down the amount of reading necessary. Do you need to read every single book to understand what’s going on? Or do you just need to know the stuff about the most recent arc(broken code) and the recent new book(Starless Clan: River) to fit in with the fandom? Any books I don’t have to read and I’ll still be fine?

Hi!!! So, in terms of not having room in your house for a ton of new books, I can definitely recommend using your local library or reading free pdfs online (or buying them if u prefer)! There are also plenty of audiobooks too :)

As for reading them at all, I’d honestly suggest reading the first arc (The Prophecies Begin) both because it’s the start of it all and bc I think it does a great job at establishing the world building and all that! Plus, the protagonist is like the most famous cat of em all LOL. Aside from that, I think the most “important” arcs are probably The Power of Three, Omen of the Stars, and The Broken Code, personally, but I do also love the rest and would recommend all of them if you have the time. I think the prequel series, Dawn of the Clans, is the least relevant at this point of time in the fandom? U don’t need to read any (all?) of the novellas/mangas/super editions to know what’s up rn but they are oftentimes a good read—just not necessary. The Warriors wiki has both simplified and detailed plot descriptions for every book that you can skim through instead of reading the whole book if you’d rather catch up sooner than later.

Also, there’s no need to Fit In with the fandom or anything. I don’t know if I’m even necessarily a big part of it, I just like engaging with it and other fans and making some art, that’s all. I haven’t read tooooo much besides the main arcs, actually, so there’s a lot I’m missing on the sidelines!

Ehhhh this is a lot, sorry, but TL;DR: start with the first arc, and use online resources or the library if you don’t want to buy books. Get into it bc u like it, not bc u want to join a fandom :P

I'm with the deep lore/archaeologist crew and the deeper we dig into this guy the weirder it gets and if those things turn out to be right, then 90% of what we tend to think of Godrick would be wrong.

I can’t speak for the rest of the tumblr community or other godrick fans (i’m pretty new here!), but i’ve actually thought about that a bit and i don’t think it would change my interpretation of him that much—i think it’s very feasible that godrick could have been quite powerful before the grafting by human standards, but still got his inferiority complex by not being able to live up to the literal god standards of his family. i think there are a lot of ways things could have gone for him! i’ve done a bit of deep diving into his lore (i haven’t had time to make a full post of all my thoughts about him so i haven’t talked about most of my interpretation) and his past still seems pretty open-ended to me. i’d love to hear some deep lore thoughts, so please feel free to share if you wish!

on the other note, i enjoy him less because of being a disgusting maniac (although that is part of what he becomes), and more because of the Themes and Social Commentary and such within his character—i think godrick is a great representation of the cycles of abuse/trauma that make up a large part of the themes of the game. the world told him he wasn’t good enough and he decided to make himself good enough by any means necessary, even by murder and subjugation, perpetuating the same harm that caused him to turn out like this in the first place (especially seen in gostoc’s cut quest imo, where in my view it’s implied he was too weak even for grafting and was thus rejected by godrick altogether). but this is a tangent and probably not what you’re asking about so i’ll stop here lol. thanks for the message! :)

but like orpheus in the one tales of old in your world you would sometimes divulge him in. there’s a dying need to just turn around and look, to see if you were still following.

he shouldn’t though… he shouldn’t let his mind wonder and his heart pick up a pace. you reality that you weren’t there was already a preconceived notion in his mind. the inner workings of his soul not sensing yours. the voice in his head telling him he was free to march on without anyone bothering him.

yet… there was a feeling, and itch somewhere. he couldn’t place where that itch was and it pissed him off. was it inside or outside his human form? maybe it was his mer instincts taking over? the hunter in him subtly telling him to turn around? nah, that couldn’t be it, right? i mean logically, that would make sense, but… it couldn’t be…

yet here you were, always right behind him, following him, almost clinging to him. like a barnacle. a pesky, useless barnacle…

Nanami Kento wasn’t the type to do anything that could hurt you. In fact, he was always really careful about it because he loved you so much ; doing anything bad to you was probably the worst thing for him. But today was complicated. 

He had a difficult day, a way too long one which seemed to never come to an end. You tried to text him, because you started to worry as he was usually never this late. Except that you didn’t think he would be this harsh to you. His messages were dry, more than they have ever been to you. It was almost like you were annoying him. 

You decided to wait until he came home, so you could understand what was happening. But when he finally came back, he didn’t even glance in your direction. You stood up to welcome him, but your husband simply made his way to the kitchen without caring about your presence. It hurt, you had to admit it. He never treated you this way and you thought that you did something wrong. 

You decided to leave him alone, not wanting to be more of a burden than you already seemed to be to him. You joined the living room again, sitting on the couch and taking back the book you were previously reading. Maybe it would help you think about something else. 

As Kento was drinking the coffee he just made, as it would be a good idea, a long sigh left his lips. He turned around to say something, before he noticed that you were gone. This is when he realized what he had done since he came home. He closed his eyes, another sigh leaving his lips. He massaged his temple for a moment, before he came back to the living room. 

He simply walked towards you, before kneeling in front of you. You put your book on the side, a slight frown over your face. What was he doing exactly? Nanami took the book from your hands, putting it on the table behind him. Then, he took your hand between his and left a kiss on top of it. You finally met his gaze, and you could see how tired he seemed to be. 

“I’m sorry my love, I shouldn’t have acted this way with you. Forgive me, please,” he said, and you didn’t give him the time to say anything more. You made him stand up, and guided him to sit next to you on the couch. Kento let you do it, as he didn’t have the strength to disagree anyway. 

In no time, he was now laying down on the couch, with his head on your thighs. Your fingers were slowly running through his hair, and he had his eyes closed. He could almost be falling asleep right now. Nobody was able to ease his heart and his mind as much as you could do it. 

“How about you take a few days off? You need it, Kento,” you started, and he simply hummed as an answer. You were probably right, he really needed those days to take some time. Not only for himself, but also for you. You deserved to be treated better, and he was ready to spend his days off only by taking care of you. You were the best thing that ever happened in his life.

yknow what? I’m accepting that a sea wolf is one of my theriotypes. Even after loads of research I denied it because I was so exposed to the stricter side of therianthropy / the stricter therians (like therians who say “No you have to have had _____ for this to really be your theriotype!!!” Or “You have to have experienced ___!!” Yknow what I mean? Basically therians who think you need to have all this proof for it to really be your theriotype.) But it just feels.. right. You don’t need proof it’s your theriotype/kintype/ etc. If it feels right and it feels like you, then accept it. No, you don’t need to have had this deep connection all your life with it for it to be your theriotype/kintype/etc. No, you don’t need to have paragraphs of proof that it’s truly your theriotype/kintype/etc. Being a Sea Wolf Therian feels right to me. It feels like me. Have I had a deep connection to it all my life? No, maybe I just didn’t know about it, because obviously I didn’t have the knowledge that they have exist all my life (like, ofc I didn’t know sea wolves existed back when I was five years old!) Alterhumanity does not need proof as long as it feels like you. So if someone tries telling you that you really aren’t otherkin or a Therian or etc. because you don’t have enough “proof”, roll your eyes at them and be on your merry way because who are they to tell you that you aren’t you? Besides, isn’t the alterhuman community suppose to be one of the most loving and supportive communities out there? Pathetic, really, that you would try to deny someone that they aren’t a fellow alterhuman because they don’t meet your expectations or aren’t “valid” in your eyes.

Go be yourself and accept that theriotype/kintype/etc. you’ve been questioning forever and accept it as you. Oh, you got one of your theriotypes/kintypes/etc. wrong and mistaken it for something else? That’s fine. Don’t be scared to get them wrong and make mistakes. I’ve done it, many other alterhumans have done it, don’t be upset if you do it too. You will enjoy alterhumanity so much more and feel much more free once you stop letting others tell you things that make it feel restricting and what not. Any of y’all who disagree can go whine about it in the notes and reblogs or whatever and do me the favor of simply not interacting with this account. This was a post to comfort other alterhumans who felt stuck like me. (Also, if it wasn’t obvious, I didn’t know how to word most of this post but I think I most of y’all will get the point.)

my miles g headcanons!

A/N: the ending scene in ATSV made me think a lot about what a Miles that never got to reach his full potential as Spider-Man would be like. so, here are some of the thoughts/speculation I wrote down! Ofc you can feel free to disagree with my interpretation since he's not even on screen for more than 5 minutes lol but this guides how I choose to write him.

Essentially, Earth 42 Miles is a Miles that has given up. Like 1610 Miles says to Uncle Aaron, he likely does not believe he has a choice.

Maybe he steals on top of a second job to help support his mother, leaving little to no time for school

He uses his genius to build the Prowler suit instead of the spidey suit

Doesn't enjoy stealing but makes money from it so he can. Afford shit

Same love for art and music as Miles, but his taste likely differs/has changed (42 Uncle Aaron doesn't play hip hop, instead he plays Bobby Bland). I imagine him to have darker tastes and a sadder playlist lol

He is not MEAN or EVIL, just tired and spread too thin. Perhaps a little angry that his future was stolen from him.

With no superheroes and a police force that would likely be rendered ineffective, maybe community efforts would be more prevalent in this version of Brooklyn...?

Maybe 42 Miles uses some of his earnings from being the Prowler to give back? Would be strange and out of character to me for a Miles in any universe to be excessively selfish (he might still buy himself nice stuff tho)

Calmer and a bit more direct than 1610 Miles (who has time to beat around the bush?)

Burdened with responsibilities, he would not have as many chances to have fun

Now getting too old to go on heists as often, Aaron locates jobs for Miles and takes him to the location

Both Miles are lying to their moms so that guilt is still there

He cannot see a way out and neither can his uncle so they are both trapped in a vicious cycle; everyone is resigned in some way

The Prowler suit looks obviously heavier than the spidey suit, but he's still able to jump around in it. This may require earth 42 miles to be a bit stronger

Based on the jacket and cargo pants (instead of 1610 miles' hoodie and puffa w shorts), Miles g might have a different/more "mature" sense of style.

Has a mix between his Uncle Aaron's accent and his mom's, as evidenced by the film (everybody say thank you Jharrel Jerome). His voice is "deeper", but only sounds that way because he speaks more with his lower register whereas 1610 Miles/Shameik speak from a slightly higher place most of the time. More of an observation than a headcanon skfjdk

Has probably gotten used to doing horrible things to survive, but it's still...well, Miles. I'd like to think he's still capable of kindness when he isn't the Prowler and isn't ruthless all the time. He's still just a kid!
