I think we need to normalize using "people" as a species neutral word.

Like idk in my brain the word people just doesn't automatically = human. To me it's just a way to signify intelligence and individuality, and to emphasize the need for respect towards another creature, not specific to any one species.

Dogs can be people, mice can be people, dragons can be people, humans can be people, birds can be people, elves can be people, robots can be people, and so on.

It's also (in my opinion) just much easier than always saying "beings" or "individuals" when referring to varying assortments of creatures.

At this point, if you asked me if my therianthropy was psychological, delusional, or spiritual, I wouldn't know what to tell you. I don't know where it starts or where it ends anymore. My body is nonhuman. Whatever level I exist on metaphysically is nonhuman. I am an animal.

I'm like this because I'm like this, because someone somewhere fucked up when I was being made, or maybe they didn't and I was always meant to be this way. Maybe no one had a say in it at all. Maybe it was my own doing.

I used to worry more about the specifics. I wanted neat boxes to fit myself into to show to others so they could better understand me. Now, I'm too tired. I meet others where they are, but I can't find the words for myself. I am a deer. I am a beast. I have hooves and claws and skin and fur and wings and horns. I am a thing that howls at the moon when her light reflects off the backs of my eyes.

The edges of myself are blurry. Sometimes I still long for the words for myself, but now I am more content to just be. I sleep under the stars and breathe easy being something strange and indefinite.

Someone just went off at me in a comment, not on here, for using "delusion/s/al" and "mentally ill" in my info-graph about how physical identifying nonhumans/alterhumans exist and have been a part of these communities since the beginning, telling me that they are, and I quote...

"slurs created by doctors and therapists to demonize and strip agency from anyone whom they deem “not normal”."

can somebody please explain to me what a Therian is? I don't really get it, haven't heard much other than somebody said it was similar to transgender people (which honestly immediately turned me off from the idea because I hate when people compare two different minorities in general).
