People really are missing the point of a character like Nettles. Being the a non-Valyrian dragonrider is what makes her different(in every positive definition of that word) and helps to serve a larger purpose in this story.

Valyrian blood is not special. It’s not needed to do great things. No one is special because of what family they happen to be born into.

A non-Valyrian Nettles shows that we are more than the circumstances which we are born into. Our birth, our names, and our very blood does not define us. Our actions are what do. We can overcome so much and rise to become absolutely extraordinary with a little bit of determination, patience, and a dash of help along the way. Nettles exemplifies that to the fullest extent.

She's more than a Black Valryian. She doesn’t have to be Valyrian. She shouldn’t have to be Valyrian.

She’s a survivor. She’s a final girl. She’s a Black low-born girl likely without a drop of dragons blood that tames a wild dragon with patience that killed countless others who had dragons blood. She survived the Dance where others high and low alike fell and perished to become a firewitch to the Burned Men.

Her legacy is immortalized in the history books(and by the Burned Men cause they still worship her) as one of the last(if not the last) dragonrider(s) before Dany all without having any known Valyrian ancestry.

I'm unable to stop thinking about OG!Mobei-Jun. We never meet him like we do Luo Bingge but I have such a strong image of who he is.

To reference a text post I am obsessed with, if Luo Bingge is a male power fantasy, original Mobei-Jun is the ‘one man as an island’ belief. The idea of ‘one man as an island’ is basically the same as the lie of complete self sufficiency.

It means; you don’t NEED help. It means: you are an island, a city, a nation within yourself, and so you are all you need. It means; you aren’t weak and you can do EVERYTHING yourself. And while this isn’t an inherently male concept (everyone can be influenced by it) it does tend to be extra emphasized in male spaces. It’s certainly part of the toxic masculinity package. Because in toxic masculinity, other men are competitors. Rivals. Enemies. You crush them to get what you want and you do it alone.

Airplane takes Luo Bingge and turns a story about the cycles of abuse into the height of male power fantasies. And Airplane thus takes Mobei-Jun and projects his desires to be a one-man-island.

Because islands aren’t lonely. They can’t feel lonely. (You are a one man island and you don’t need people so that means you chose your aloneness. you have control over it.)

And here’s the thing: complete self sufficiency is utter HORSESHIT. ITS A LIE. IT DOESNT FUCKING WORK.

Since complete self sufficiency is a lie, translating Mobei-jun from book to real person gets wayyyy more complicated.

So my view of OG!Mobei Jun is someone who has frozen himself into complete indifference. He’s a man who desperately wants to belong to someone or something but has forgotten how. He’s a closeted romantic who has gouged out all the soft and vulnerable parts of himself. He moves through life as if everything is beneath him and less real than him because if it isn’t then he’ll fall apart spectacularly. He’s a man who’s sat so long with solitude that it’s crystallized him into a moving statue. He’s a flesh and blood person but he is so incapable of letting his guard down that the entire world sees the mountain he wants to be and not the cracks where the illusion fails. He doesn’t know how to live. He refuses to die.

OG!Mobei-Jun is the myth of self sufficiency. And it eats him alive.

He can’t trust his family, so he raised himself while "overseeing his future realm," leading to him being malnourished and touch-starved. He can’t trust his servants, and so he learned how to put on everything himself— in simple styles so that he could do them even injured. He can’t trust his advisors, so his kingdom is governed by fear and precedent rather than understanding. He can’t trust his palace, and so he is short on sleep and good food and relaxation: after all, he must do everything himself and thus he must know everything.

In comparison to SVSSS, original Mobei-Jun is noticeably thinner. He wears makeup to hide the dark circles beneath his eyes. The wound from the Huan Hua dart never healed right: and neither did many, many others. Compared to our Mobei-Jun, he looks…. brittle, with the vicious fear of an animal backed into a corner.

SVSSS Mobei-Jun is taller, bigger. He has that extra essential “I’m not alone and being taken care of” weight. Even just by looking at him, you can tell that he is miles steadier, with people he can trust at his back. He’s not constantly shaking with a combination of touch starvation and paranoia. He has less scars and the ones he does have look better taken care of.

SVSSS Mobei-Jun is just.... a complete antithesis to his original self. A complete deconstruction of the self sufficiency myth.

A one man island wouldn’t be rescued like three times like a damsel in distress! A one man island wouldn’t have a devoted servant to care for him: to heal his wounds and give him food and drink, a place to rest, and information more valuable than gold. A one man island wouldn’t know gentleness if it clubbed him in the head!

I guess what I’m trying to say here is that Shang Qinghua has a MONUMENTAL impact on Mobei-Jun’s life and his entire perception of the world and himself.

This is a man who could have friends! This is a guy who is unguarded enough to actually fall in love! This is a dude who might be close to some distant family members! This is a guy who might have HOBBIES or THINGS THAT MAKE HIM LAUGH!!!! The ripple effect goes and goes and with Shang Qinghua smashing his ‘I need to do everything myself’ belief, Mobei-Jun can relax and actually trust people! Other people even!

Imagine a Mobei-Jun that has not just Shang Qinghua but!! A half sister he really likes!! A couple great aunts he can ask for advice!! Some cousins that have children that call him uncle!! A friend or two!!!!

THIS IS NOT A MAN ALONE!!!

The church of Phantom

S.H.I.E.L.D had been investigating a cult that's been around for thousands of years called the followers of Phantom. From what S.H.I.E.L.D has learned the group follows a deity known as Phantom. From the text they've read, Phantom seemed to be a benevolent god helping wherever they could even laying the ground work for numerous civilisations to grow and prosper, helping humanity make discoveries that helped push technology advancement.

With all of this no wonder Phantom had a huge following, Natasha even heard that some S.H.IE.L.D. agents talk about converting. Not that she'd blame them a benevolent god that helps and asks for nothing in return and also urges their followers to help others regardless of whether they follow Phantom or not.

It just seems too good to be true. So Fury sent her to infiltrate the church in hopes of gathering information. What she learned was really surprising, normally churches would have followers act a certain way to conform to the way churches wanted to be seen. But not this church, she's met so many people whose personalities should have them fighting and hating each other's. They ranged from shy and meek to loud and asshole ish. But they all follow Phantoms teaching.

So when she heard that Phantom needed a vessel to interact with the material world she was suspicious. The upper echelon had been looking for the perfect vessel to sacrifice to Phantom and when she heard they already found one and sacrificed him to Phantom she called in S.H.I.E.L.D and the Avengers.

She knew when she was in over her head and dealing with a god as seemingly powerful as Phantom was definitely over her head. Everyone knew the severity of the mission. They needed to not only capture the followers but somehow stop Phantom from destroying everything by either fighting or escaping.

So they quietly took out all the followers and made their way to the room Phantom was in. She had Tony scan the area for anymore followers and he found some in the room with. Thor took the lead with Captain America behind him and barged into the room. Only to find a boy with black hair and blue eyes around 14 - 15 reclined in his chair being fed by girls the same age of older fawning over him.

He looked over to them and started to blush.

"Hi I'm Danny," The boy nervously introduced himself.

Who is Pom Pom?

Pom Pom is a virus/glitch formed by the scrapped side-scrolling arcade game from the early 90's “Pom-Pom Panic”. Pom Pom (the main character of Pom Pom Panic) for whatever reason gained sentience halfway during the game’s development. The game was cancelled halfway because the publishing company thought it was too bizarre of a concept and mascot character to gain interest. Pom Pom heard of the news and took it way too personally, as she literally cannot fathom why someone would think she’s ‘bizarre’-even to the point of getting ‘axed’. Prompted by the ‘poor judgement’ Pom Pom went rouge-breaking from her game to ‘axe’ any ‘approved’ game mascots/characters she thought could count as ‘bizarre’ like her.

You went to bed about 30 minutes ago, it usually didn't take you this long to fall asleep, normally taking around 10 minutes. When your father, tony, came to check on you, you turned to him.

Upon seeing you still awake, tony waked deeper into the small bedroom.

"Y/n, why are you still up baby?" He asked kneeling down, taking a seat on the tiny bed.

"I cant fall asleep." You said frowning, tony took a second to think. How could he get you to sleep quickly?

"I'll be right back," he said before bolting out of the room. A few minutes later he walked in with the rest if the team, and sat back down in the exact same spot.

"Why are you guys here?" (Its a 6 y/o are you surprised)

"We're gonna sing for you sweetheart" tony said brushing a strand of hair from your face.

(This is optional) sam with his phone ready with the music.

As Sam pressed play on the music, tony started to sing.

"Heres the story, of a playboy genius, who was gear enough to form some sort of crew"

Was kinda interesting watching Aquaman 2 do that thing Hollywood movies do where a villain barks orders in an non-English language to signal to the American audience that they're foreign and scary, except this time the actress doing it was speaking portuguese so I actually understood everything she was saying and it was just weird and abrupt. I guess they just told her to translate and say the lines in her own language but didn't direct her how to adapt the dialogue accordingly, so she ends up just telling the henchmen to pick up a guy in a very stilted formal factual manner while everything's exploding around them, that was kinda funny.

#not criticizing or blaming the actress here she was allright #it's Aquaman 2 nobody was on their a-game here #anyway movie was actually okay #not the worst thing I had occasionally fun times watching it #by the DCEU standards it was actually pretty good #for better or worse it felt way more like a Monsterverse movie for most of it #you can almost exactly pinpoint the scenes made when it was a major blockbuster sequel project #and the ones they made not giving a shit anymore knowing this was their last dance and just having fun with it #plenty of the ones in the latter are even some of the best in the movie #just Momoa and Wilson dicking around Jumanji sets #ending is very schmaltzy and optimistic and you can pick that and the enviromentalist angle #as what Momoa contributed to the writing because it feels very much an actor writing their hero character's finale thing #not complaining about it tho I find that kind of stuff interesting even if it isn't good #I mean why not go with that at this point #fuck it let's rip off a subplot from Black Panther and end with a limp imitation of the Iron Man 1 ending why not #Aquaman Saves the World and Patrick Wilson Eats A Cockroach and that's how the DCEU ends #honestly a more dignified fashion than it ever deserved to end
