Debating posting my old film essay about a five minute extract from Lord of the Rings / Return of the King here. I wrote it in 2014-2015 but I’m still low-key proud of it and would love to share my analysis of the scene I wrote because I love analysing things.
For anyone curious, it’s the scene where Faramir and his men are on their way to certain death in Osgiliath and Pippin is singing. I would also like to take a hot minute to appreciate that I chose that scene not because I was particularly huge on LOTR at the time, nor because I was excited to see action... no, 17 year old me chose that scene specifically because of Billy Boyd’s angelic singing voice.
