aita for calling out someone for being manipulative towards a trans friend? Names have been changed for privacy reasons and TLDR at the end because this is long.
I (24f) am cis but have had a lot of trans friends (binary, nonbinary, and neopronoun) throughout the years and am very supportive so i take this very seriously. So I met this girl my first year in college (we were 18 at the time) and we became friends. We're polar opposites, she talks a lot and I don't, she parties a lot and I like to do more sophisticated things, she's a typical extrovert basically, and I'm more introverted. Anne (24f) was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. I don't know when, she just told me this years ago. I've seen tiktoks about bpd and researched Google about bpd a little so I know all about how they have fave persons and will "mimic" people in the friend group and become clingy, manipulate, etc. I've seen pics of her in high school, noticed that she was a theater kid, she said she was good at acting and even said she thinks her bpd helped with her acting although I'm not sure how, but she said she only joined the theater club because a boy she had a crush on was in theater. That should've been my first red flag but I was naive. She has a degree in something else (not theater) because our second year in college her favorite character in a TV show did a certain job, she got interested in that, and now she also does that as a living. She doesn't talk about her bpd, she's only mentioned it a handful of times. I can count on one hand how many times. And I get it because she said someone once told her people with bpd should be sterilized and not be allowed near children. Which is really messed up and I hate that someone said that.
However on with the situation. One of our friends Mike (25m) is a trans man. We met him four years ago. He's very handsome, broody, introverted, intelligent, great listener, very accepting and understanding, similar to me but opposite to her. Now we didn't know he was trans until two years ago, because I asked him on a date and he turned me down, and when I asked why he told me that he was mostly T4T and only viewed me as a friend. We were like woah you're trans, okay that's cool, etc. He explained that he was lucky enough to get on puberty blockers and transition young etc which is why he passes. I said okay I'm not trans and you're mostly T4T fair enough.
Well last year Anne suddenly tells us that she is trans too. She says she's bigender. She says she is okay with either she her or he him because she feels like a man and a woman at the same time. Some days she's a woman, some days she's a man, and some days she's both, according to her. She says she does not like they them pronouns. Suddenly her and Mike are spending all this extra time together. Last month he confided in me that he thinks he's in love with her, after years of him only seeing her as a friend, and then they started officially dating.
Here's the problem: she has not changed her outward appearance, her name, started any kind of medical stuff, joined any groups, bought a binder etc. We all continue to call her she and her because she fully presents as female and doesn't have a problem with it. Also she's very effeminate in body language, the way she talks, etc. I know technically I could call her a he or a him, too, but she never asks me to or corrects people when they call her she because well technically she is a she too. Mike is the only one who uses he and him pronouns with her as often as she and her, but she has never thanked him. It really feels like she's saying she's trans and then going about her life exactly as a cis woman simply to convince Mike to date her.
First off, Anne and Mike are NOT compatible. She likes to party, smoke weed, talks a lot, I'm not sure how she graduated with such good grades or why she does so well in her job because she is honestly a LOT to handle and I'm saying that as nice as possible. Mike would never touch weed or go to clubs and he says he would be fine staying home while she does those things but how could you trust someone to party while high and not hook up with others? I've seen her make out with five people in one night at a frat party. They also had wildly different childhoods, such as she grew up in a conservative community and doesn't speak to her family, and he grew up in a liberal area and is close with his family. But more importantly she has a history of joining theater because she had a crush on someone in theater (plus she admits she is good at acting, so maybe she is acting now?) and getting a degree and job in a field because a favorite fictional character did that and now this? It feels like she was attracted to him, found out he usually dates other trans people, and found a way to continue being cis but claim to be trans without having to do anything trans related, basically mimicing her favorite person. As soon as they met they hit it off, or should I say she clung to him and pretended to have the same likes and dislikes whenever they were alone I assume.
It sounds terrible I know, which is why I discussed this with a group chat first that neither of them are in, and the group chat not only agreed that she is far too "obnoxious" for him (those were NOT my words!) but that she is faking being trans in an attempt to make him fall in love with her (which seems to be working.) I would NEVER have gone further without making sure with them first. So then a few of the people in my group chat and I held an intervention with Anne alone. The six of us (the others don't live close enough to come) met up with Anne at her place and told her what she was doing was wrong and gross and that she needed to get help for her bpd and to stop catfishing Mike. She didn't take well to what was said, which I anticipated, but she went crazy. She was screaming at us, insulting us, sobbing while yelling etc, literally said if we ever contacted her again she would call the cops, so we left.
I immediately called Mike before she could and asked him to meet me at a restaurant nearby and that it was very important. Since Mike doesn't know anyone in the group chat I went alone and I explained EVERYTHING before she could gaslight and manipulate him even further. He left, did not finish or pay for his food. I messaged him several times, but a few hours later he texted me to never to speak to him again, and then blocked me on everything. I showed up to his house and Anne was there. Mike said if I ever contacted him again he would get a restraining order on me so I left. I've discussed this with the group chat and now suddenly half of them changed their mind and don't want to talk about it anymore. Several of them left the group chat. Not only that but several of my friends who know either Mike or Anne or both have blocked me on everything. When I've tried to contact these friends through other means and explain everything, they either didn't respond or said for me never to contact them again because I was being transphobic. Listen I know under NORMAL circumstances you shouldn't question when someone comes out but this is NOT a normal situation, and now I am concerned Anne is unsafe for Mike but also an unsafe person to know, as she literally is trying to destroy my life because I called her out on some seriously messed up and abusive behavior.
TLDR am I the asshole for trying to protect my trans friend from a potential stalker?
What are these acronyms?

High School!Mike Schmidt x Fem!Reader
Summary: Being friends with Mike in high school and helping him with math, but that quickly turns into something else.
Reader’s pronouns: she/her
Word Count: 1.5K
Story Contains: profanity, name calling, fluff, angst, oral (female receiving), p in v,
Notes: I heavily believe that Mike sucked at math in school and I will die on that hill
Tumblr media
You are walking through the crowded halls, trying to go to your normal meeting spot after school. You look for Mike. He’s been your best friend for years. You’ve helped him through the death of his brother and you are always there for him and his sister. You finally spot him, “Hey Mike! How were classes?” You smile at Mike while he shrugs. “Still don’t get it.” He frowns.
You and Mike are total opposites. You are in all honors classes while he’s in regular classes. You usually help him after school so he can get good grades. “Well that’s why I help you. Was it math today?” You start walking in the direction of his home and he follows beside you. “Yeah. I hate school.” You laugh at what he says. “Well let’s get to your place and I’ll help.”
After walking and chatting for a bit, you and Mike both make it to his place…nobody is home. “Why is no one home?” You look at Mike who starts to realize. “Oh yeah, Abby had her talent show today, so my parents are gone.” You nod and smile. Your face gets a bit hot.
You didn’t tell anyone or want to admit it, but you like Mike. You’ve been friends since you were both 6 years old. Every year, your crush goes deeper and now you two are 17 years old. This is your last year in high school.
“Come on. We’ll work in my room.” Mike waves for you to follow him up the stairs. You follow without a second thought. His room is a bit messy, but not much. Just some clothes on the floor, and some empty water bottles…nothing too crazy.
“Okay, what was it that you were confused about?” You look at Mike, seeing him already looking at you. Your face gets hot again. “Well…it’s calculus so everything.” You two both laugh. “But to be specific, limits.” You nod at what he says, “Okay, I can definitely help you with that.”
30 minutes go by, “Mike, it’s okay!” You watch him as he paces in his room. Mike is visibly frustrated. “I DON’T UNDERSTAND!” You sit in shock, he never yells while you help him. You walk up and try to comfort him, placing a hand on his shoulder. “Mike, it’s fine.” He flinches at the tough, not seeing you walk up. He takes a deep breath and sighs. “I know. Usually when you help me, I get it. Why can’t I understand this?” Mike stands still. You shake your head. “I don’t know, but it’ll be okay. I got all night.” You smile at him and rub his shoulder gently. Mike looks up at you, making eye contact. Something was different about the way he looked at you.
With no warning, Mike kisses you on the lips. You are shocked but slowly melt into the kiss. As soon as you kiss back, Mike brings you closer to him by your waist. You moan a bit, face getting hot. The kiss gets sloppy and you two are breathing heavily. It feels like you two were waiting for this kiss to happen.
Your hands start to travel up to his hair, you lightly tug at it. He moans into the kiss. The simple tug, making him become more passionate. His hands go up to your face and your hands travel down his body. You feel his chest, arms, and abs. You could feel his muscles, making your underwear wetter. Mike backs you up and you fall on his bed. “I’ve been wanting to do this for the longest time.” Mike’s voice goes low, making you feel something. He takes off his shirt crawling on top of you. You couldn’t take your eyes off him.
You feel hands touch the skin of your waist. Mike looks at you with lust, pleading with his eyes for your shirt to come off. He takes it off of you in a rush and stares at you. You start to feel exposed until he leans closer to your ear and whispers, “You look delicious Y/n.” Your already wet underwear are now soaked. He goes to your neck and starts kissing and sucking different spots. Your hands travel down to his pants, trying to unbuckle his belt. As you get it unbuckled, Mike sucks on the nape of your neck. You moan loudly, the sensation feeling so good. Mike smirks while coming back up. “Such a whore for me huh? Tell me how much you want me.” You breathe heavily. “Please Mike. I really want you. You can make me all yours.” You scratch his back as you beg for him. He groans and rips his pants off, doing the same to you, he slides your pants and underwear all the way down.
Mike stares at you underneath him. “God, you are so fucking beautiful,” he breathes out. You start kissing him and you feel fingers slide right into you. You moan and roll your eyes. “Does that feel good sexy?” All you could do was not your head, you feel yourself about to cum. Mike slides back down and pulls his fingers out. You whine and before you could say anything his tongue circles around your clit. “Fuck!” you yell out not expecting that. He is eating you out while looking at you. You grab a handful of his hair and tug it. He moans causing you to feel vibrations. He slides his tongue in you and keeps moaning. Your back arches and you cum all over his chin. As he makes his way back up to you, you see all your juices on his chin. He wipes it and says, “God baby, you taste so good on my tongue.”
He slides inside you. You wince at the pain, but moan at the pleasure. “That’s it baby. Moan for me.” The pain goes away and all you feel is pleasure. You moan loudly as he buries himself deep inside you and pulls right back out. “Oh fuck Mike!” Your yells and moans could be heard all over the house. “Fuck Y/n. You feel so good.” Mike’s moans fill the room, sounding like music to your ears. His pace picks up faster as he pumps in and out of you. “Shit!” You can feel yourself getting tighter around Mike’s cock. He leans down to your ear, “Cum for me. Cum all over me.” His tone sounds demanding and his voice is so low. You scratch his back as you orgasm, cumming all over him. Mike goes faster, making sure he draws out the orgasm. He puts his thumb on your clit, making the sensation so much better and intense. “FUCK MIKE!” You couldn’t help, but yell out his name. Mike’s thrusts get sloppier with every second. “Oh Y/n~” Mike moans. You scratch his back even more and this sends him over the edge. He quickly pulls out of you and cums on your stomach. The second he finishes, he runs to grab a towel. He comes back and cleans you up. He tosses the towel beside him and lays down beside you.
You two lay their breathlessly. You finally turn your head to look at him and, on que, he looks at you too. “Mike I-” you couldn’t even finish your sentence because Mike kisses you right on the lips. “Y/n I’ve liked you since I was 13. I’ve tried to find so many ways to tell you, but I always back out.” He smiles at you and you couldn’t help but smile back. “Well, I’ve liked you since I was 15 so I guess you fell first.” You giggle at your own joke and Mike chuckles. “I love you, Y/n.” Mike sounds so genuine. You smile wide, “I love you too.” You two lean in for another kiss. “It’s about time this happened,” Mike says admiring you, you laugh.
You guys hear the front door unlock and shoot up to get dressed. You find your body spray and spray it on you and Mike’s bed. You and Mike get dressed at record speed and pretend to help him with his math. Mike’s mom comes up the stairs and leans into the room. “Hey you two! What are you doing?” You look at his mom with a smile. “Hey Mrs. Schmidt. I’m just helping him with his calculus work.” She nods her head and looks around the room. “Mike, you need to clean this room! Can’t believe Y/n still hangs out with you in this mess.” You laugh loudly enjoying this moment. “I know.” Mrs. Schmidt walks out of the doorway and goes downstairs. Mike looks at you and smirks, “Hangs out is one way to put it.” You slap his forehead. “Shut up.” You roll your eyes. He leans in close to your lips, but before kissing you he whispers, “I’ll leave the window open for you for round 2 tonight.” He kisses your lips softly.

Enemies to lovers Eddie Munson x Cheerleader! Reader, maybe some months ago Reader was trying to tell Eddie that she liked him, but Eddie was talking with his friends about how he doesn't like cheerleaders and jocks and that made Reader angry at him bc she thought that he liked talking to her (she was his client) so after that Reader started to act cold towards him, and Eddie did the same with her. One day, they got paired together for a Literature project, and they went to Reader's house to work on that but they only spend the afternoon fighting, a day later they went to Eddie's and they were fighting, again, but then they just stayed in silence and started kissing each other and that's when Reader confesses her feelings for Eddie and tells him that's she heard what he said, and he's like I wasn't talking about you, I liked you too, I still like you, and then they have make up sex (if you're comfortable writing that!) and start their relationship
No smut :/ I'm sorry
I hope this is what you wanted and you enjoy it. Thank you for requesting <3
Tumblr media
Y/N spent as much time thinking about Eddie as she did talking about Eddie. If she ever wanted to hide the fact she liked him, she couldn't. It was written on her face.
Which is why her friends are sick of her doing nothing to make a move. Chrissy was a girly girl herself, she knew Y/N wanted Eddie to make the move. She wanted Eddie to go after her so she felt wanted. But Chrissy also knew Eddie would never ask out a girl he believed to be out of his league.
After weeks and weeks of Y/N's friends pushing her to ask out Eddie, she was ready to do it.
She tried to shake off her nerves. Her fingertips gripped her textbooks tightly as she walked toward Eddie and his group of friends.
She was a few feet away, close enough to hear him but not close enough for anyone to recognize her.
"You asked my opinion and I gave it. I think asking out Rachel is a disgrace to our kind. She's a cheerleader and friends with all those jocks. Is she going to stand up for you when your ass is being kicked? Nah, I don't think so. Because she's a cheerleader and those are heartless shells."
Y/N felt herself freeze at Eddie's words. Any bit of confidence was washed away as his words traveled down the hall. She knew Eddie didn't like the popular crowd, but she thought he moved past it. She thought she was changing that perspective. Is that all he saw her as? A cheerleader?
Before she heard anything more hurtful, she raced right past.
~~~
"Oh yeah? What about Y/N?" Mike snapped back, ever since his breakup with El, he's had his eyes on someone new. And all he wanted was advice and instead, he pissed off Eddie.
"She's different." Eddie shrugged, in his mind there was no comparison between Y/N and any other girl.
"Because she's yours?" Mike argued.
"He wishes!" Dustin laughed.
"No! Because Y/N has shown to be sweet, kind, and accepting with everyone. She's more than just a cheerleader, but I can't say the rest about the team. Mike, you need to understand some girls are only cheerleaders when the outfit is on, find one like that." Eddie said, smacking down on Mike's shoulder.
~~~
Y/N felt too embarrassed to be near Eddie. She didn't know if this whole time he couldn't stand her. They never hung out outside of deals, maybe he only dealt with her because he had to.
She stopped buying from him and went cold turkey. She didn't bother talking to him in the halls, didn't look in his direction, and acted like he didn't exist.
Eddie noticed the cold shoulder immediately, and it hurt. He didn't understand the sudden change of attitude but he also didn't give it a second thought. Maybe she wasn't as good of a person as he thought.
~~~
Over the next few weeks, they didn't speak to each other. Until they got paired together for a school project. Y/N immediately wanted to beg for someone else but the teacher was strict and didn't handle the backtalk well.
It was awkward, and they both hated that feeling. Eddie sat on her floor, her feet dangling off the bed. She read out loud the book, but his mind was elsewhere. Her room was what he thought it would be, and he adored all the framed photos she had. Her room looked just as sweet as he always thought she was.
"If you aren't going to pay attention, I'll just do it myself." She snapped, and the heavy book slammed shut.
Eddie jumped at the noise but recovered quickly. "Sorry, I was just observing your room." He admitted.
"Well don't. Not like you'll ever be in it again anyway." She snapped again. It hurt her a little to say, a small reminder that they weren't friends and they wouldn't hang out like she wished.
"Yeah, got it." He said back, same snappy tone.
"Look you don't get to have an attitude with me!" She argued she didn't do anything wrong.
"Oh, why? Because we don't get to speak unless it's on your terms? And I'm just supposed to be cool with that? You completely flipped the script on me so yeah, I'm a little pissed!" He argued back. If anyone was allowed to be annoyed, it was him. He was ignored without an explanation.
"Flipped the script? No, what happened was you talked shit behind my back and I finally figured out how you thought of me." She said, her anger leaving as a small amount of sadness settled in her chest.
"Who told you that crap?" Eddie said he felt the want to roll his eyes.
"YOU!" She yelled, she stood up and towered over him. "I heard everything you said to Mike. You went on and on about how cheerleaders are heartless. I can't imagine the other things you said before or after."
Eddie tried to remember what she was talking about, the realization hitting him. He stood up fast, a fast apology on his lips.
"No no no! I did say that yes, but not about you! I would never say those things about you." He tried to grab her hand but she smacked it away.
"Ow" he muttered
"How did you not say that about me? I'm a cheerleader!"
"I know!" He panicked, "but I said so many things after that. You must have walked away or didn't hear me because I explained you were nothing like that."
Y/N felt a part of herself believing him. He sounded so panicked, which meant he was caught or he was trying to prove his innocence and needed her to trust him.
"What did you say?" She asked
"I explained to Mike that the girl he's interested in doesn't care about him. And I knew that because of what you showed me. I see how sweet and caring you are. You're nice to everyone and you don't use your popularity to have power over anyone. You aren't just a cheerleader, you are so much more than that. That's why you are different and that's why I'd never say mean things about you." His words and eyes were pleading for her to believe him. "I'm so sorry you got hurt."
"Well I shouldn't listen to people's conversations," she shrugged, " I appreciate your apology and I accept it. I'm sorry for not talking to you about it. I was hurt because I like you. And I was planning to ask you out when I heard everything." She admitted she turned her head to the floor, her cheeks flamed with embarrassment.
"Holy shit!" He exclaimed, "You like me? And like me enough to want to ask me out?" Eddie couldn't believe his ears. He wanted the same thing, obliviously, but he never thought he had the chance.
She gave him a look and he moved on. It was clear she liked him and she gave him an opening.
He moved his feet forward until there wasn't space between them. His eyes searched into hers for a sign, when her eyes flipped down to his lips he got his answer.
He licked his lips nervously, his hand reaching to cup her chin as he leaned in. His heart raced when she leaned in, both closing their eyes in sync.
Her stomach fluttered when she felt his lips. He smiled when he felt her kiss back, her hands slid around to his back. Her palms were flat against his shirt.
They kissed for as long as they could. Whenever one of them went to pull away, they'd drag them right back in.
Eddie couldn't wait to shove this in Mike's face.
Hi! Hope ur doing great! First of all, I really love your fics! I think you're really talented.
I have a request, if it's not too much trouble. I can't stop thinking about a Steve w/head trauma (so, maybe migraine prone, memory issues, etc) and a DM Eddie that still resents Steve from high school. Eddie doesn't know Steve struggles with the complications of his concussions, so he keeps judging him for it. Say, for example, Steve got a terrible migraine and couldn't pick the kids up from Dnd and Eddie thinks he's probably at a party and stood them up. Then Eddie finds out, maybe from Steve himself or a Party member or Steve's parents. (If you could somehow sneak in Steve's parents being good caring parents for one, it'd be really cool.) Eddie apologizes and they start getting closer. And, yeah, that's all. Thank you!!!
We know I love writing Steve with a migraine. Not to jinx anything, but it's been almost two weeks since I've had one myself so I'm sure the torture I put him through here will have instant karma and I will wake up with one. Is it realistic for Eddie to pretty much fall instantly in love with a man he hated the night before? No. Do I write realistic stories? No. Buckle up for the fastest burn you can possibly read today! - Mickala ❤️
----------------------------------------------------------------
Steve Harrington was late.
Not just a few minutes late, not like he maybe got held up at a light for an extra two minutes, not like he had to stop for gas.
He was 25 minutes late.
Eddie was pissed.
He didn’t mind hanging out with the kids longer, wouldn’t have even minded if he’d just been given a heads up that Steve would be late.
A phone call.
A fucking letter by pigeon.
Anything.
Dustin seemed worried, more than anyone else, though the later it got, the more Lucas and Will and Mike seemed to worry too.
And Eddie would maybe worry too, except he knew what was happening.
He knew because it’s all he ever expected of Steve.
Steve probably went to a party, thought he could make his rounds, maybe have a drink and sober up in time to come get the kids.
And then he probably got bribed into having another drink, maybe smoke a joint in the backyard of whatever rich kid’s house he was visiting, maybe have a shot with a group of kids who liked to spend their time bullying the very kids he was supposed to be picking up.
Maybe fuck a girl in a bedroom upstairs until he was too tired and just passed out on top of her.
He rolled his eyes at the thought.
“Maybe we could try to call his house again?” Lucas asked.
“He didn’t answer the first four times, why would he now?” Mike asked, though his eyes kept scanning the road into the trailer park, searching for headlights that wouldn’t appear.
And wasn’t that just the last straw for Eddie? Watching his favorite gremlins admire and respect someone who couldn’t even remember to pick them up? Watching them expect so much from a guy who peaked in high school, who didn’t care about them if it hindered his plans?
“You guys wait here,” he said, his hands shaking with anger.
“Where are you going?” Will asked.
“To call Robin. If anyone will know what’s up, she will,” he replied.
It was late, but not too late for a phone call between adults.
“Buckley residence, you’ve got Robin,” Robin answered the phone with a bored tone.
“Any clue why your best friend is 30 minutes late to pick the kids up from my house?” He tried not to sound angry at her, it wasn’t her fault.
But he couldn’t hide the fact that he didn’t understand what band nerd, lesbian, nice person Robin could possibly see in Steve.
Sure, he carted the kids around a lot, and had helped Wayne out with Eddie’s medical stuff after Vecna, but it felt like he did it out of guilt more than anything else.
“He’s never late,” she said, her tone sharp, defensive. “You sure he knew they needed rides?”
“Positive. I heard him yell to them when he dropped them off that he’d see them in three hours.”
Robin didn’t respond for a minute, and he almost thought the line went dead.
“Has Dustin tried the walkie?” She finally asked.
“Yeah. No answer.”
“Shit.”
Eddie rolled his eyes.
“Wanna fill me in here, Buckaroo?”
“Um. Can you bring the kids home? I gotta go check on him.”
Before he could respond, the dial tone let him know she was already gone.
“Fuck!” He yelled.
He hung up the phone and grit his teeth together.
The problem wasn’t taking the kids home, he really didn’t mind and had told them on multiple occasions that he could so they didn’t have to rely on Steve to do it.
The problem was that they had relied on Steve and he let them down.
He hated that he’d have to go out there and tell them that Steve wasn’t coming.
He hates Steve for the way he would have to watch their faces fall, for the way they’d ride to their homes in silence.
He hated Steve for the fact that he’d probably buy them all ice cream tomorrow to apologize and they’d all rely on him again.
All would be forgiven.
———————————-
The next morning, he tried calling Robin and got no answer.
He tried calling Dustin and got no answer, though he wasn’t as surprised by that since he’d already been considering going to the Sinclairs’ to spend the weekend since his mom was working.
He tried Steve’s house and got an answering machine. Twice.
He considered leaving a scathing message, but didn’t want to risk one of his parents hearing it and deleting it.
“Fuck it,” he said to himself before he grabbed his keys and decided to drive to Steve’s house.
He was a little surprised to actually see Steve’s car in the driveway, half expecting him to still be passed out at some stranger’s house.
Before he could ring the doorbell, the front door swung open and Robin’s wide eyes were silently begging him to stay quiet.
She looked exhausted, a little flustered, more stressed than he’d seen in a long time.
“What’s going on?” He asked.
Maybe Steve drank more than he should’ve, maybe he wasn’t actually home and she was trying to find him still.
“Come in but be quiet. He’s finally sleeping,” she said, already walking back into the house.
He followed, closing the door behind him and giving his surroundings a quick look.
Everything looked perfect as usual except for Robin’s shoes by the door and her backpack open on the floor by the couch.
The couch that Steve was currently passed out on, blankets almost completely covering his head, ice pack resting over his eyes.
Eddie’s brows furrowed.
“Hangover?” He whispered to Robin.
She looked at him confused.
“No? He hasn’t drank in nearly a year.”
If Eddie didn’t have more control over his body, his jaw would’ve dropped.
“Oh. Um. So is he sick?” Eddie tried to gather up his thoughts, glancing over at the sleeping form on the couch.
He noticed the curtains closed and no lights turned on, noticed the complete silence in the house except for the sound of a fan running in the corner.
“He gets migraines. I thought you knew,” she said.
Eddie shook his head.
“He’s had a lot of head trauma. Gets migraines that make it impossible to even sit up sometimes. I guess he was fighting it most of the day yesterday but after he dropped the kids off with you, he passed out in the shower and barely was able to crawl to his bed after. When you called me, I kind of assumed the worst, so I came straight here and saw him naked and shivering in bed, not able to get up to get dressed or even get the covers on. Got him dressed, got him water and meds, called his parents, tried to help him eat. He spent almost an hour throwing up after that. Then he cried because he forgot the kids. Memory problems happen with the head trauma, too. I couldn’t calm him down until about an hour ago.”
Eddie let himself feel the guilt he deserved for thinking the worst of Steve.
Steve didn’t deserve this. No one did.
“Does he need to go to the hospital?” Eddie whispered, his voice broken thinking about how Steve had been alone here, probably scared when he was curled up in his bed unable to move.
“No. His parents are on their way. If it’s not better tomorrow, they’ll probably take him to his neurologist,” Robin responded.
“Shit.”
“Yeah.”
A whimper came from the couch, causing Robin to tense and hold her breath.
Eddie looked over and waited to see if maybe Steve was completely awake or if he’d just made a noise in his sleep.
After a few seconds, Robin relaxed, and he felt a breath leave his body.
“How often does this happen?” he whispered as she went to grab a drink from the fridge.
“This bad? Once a month or so. He sometimes has some memory problems without the migraine, but luckily he snaps back quickly,” she shrugged, acted as if it wasn’t a big deal, but Eddie could see right through her.
“And you help him a lot?”
“Well, his parents travel a lot for work, and he can’t always call them or remember how to contact them when it’s this bad, so yeah. I tend to be the one to take care of him until they can get here,” she said.
Eddie chewed on a piece of his hair, glancing over towards the couch every few seconds.
He was surprised this hadn’t come up before.
He was even more surprised that none of the kids had mentioned this as a possibility last night.
“Why didn’t the kids mention it last night when I was pissed?” he finally asked.
“Steve doesn’t really tell anyone. Like, the kids know, but they’ve never actually seen it, and so I think they just kinda forget. He doesn’t wanna bother them with it.”
“That’s stupid, they care about h-”
The front door started to open and a woman peeked her head inside.
Robin ran over as quickly and quietly as she could and Eddie stood awkwardly behind the couch as a middle aged woman walked into the house.
A man followed a few seconds after, a bag in hand.
“Is he asleep?” the woman asked.
“Yeah,” Robin replied before explaining much of what she’d already told Eddie to them.
The Harringtons looked surprisingly put together for a couple who probably hadn’t slept all night and most likely had flown home from somewhere as quickly as they could. They also looked nothing like what Eddie expected.
Mr. Harrington was bald, age spots on his head giving away that he must have been quite a few years older than Mrs. Harrington. She had the same color hair as Steve, same voluminous style, cut just above the shoulders. They both wore glasses, and both of them were wearing business attire like they’d rushed back directly from a meeting.
“And who is this?” he heard Mr. Harrington ask, gesturing towards Eddie.
He walked over and put his hand out to shake, trying to remember the best manners he could.
“I’m Eddie, a friend of Steve’s.”
He could feel Robin staring at him, but didn’t turn towards her. Instead, he shook Mrs. Harrington’s hand and then offered to help with any other bags they have.
“Oh, don’t worry about it. We can get them later. Since he’s asleep, we’re gonna go freshen up a bit and then you can head on home. Thank you for taking care of him, Robin. You know we appreciate you so much,” Mrs. Harrington said as she hugged her.
“It’s never a problem. Take your time,” she said.
“I’ll stay, Robin. You should go home and sleep,” Eddie offered before he could think about what he was offering.
“You’ll stay? With Steve?” Robin asked incredulously.
“Yeah. He seems pretty out of it so I’m sure he won’t even wake up before they’re done,” Eddie said, hopeful that he was right.
“Alright, my mom should be here in a few minutes anyway. She was bringing me a change of clothes in case I ended up staying today, so she can just bring me home,” Robin said hesitantly.
“Okay.”
The Harringtons nodded and walked upstairs without another word, most likely too tired to care much about who stayed with Steve as long as he was being looked after.
“Eddie, you don’t have to do this,” Robin said when they were gone.
“I know. But I’m the only one here who slept last night, I can handle it for a bit.”
“He can be…kind of a lot,” she sounded like she didn’t want to admit it, didn’t like saying something negative about him at all.
“It’s fine. If he’s in this much pain, then it’s understandable.”
Robin looked him over for a moment, something like understanding finally showing on her face. He didn’t know what she was understanding, but he was just grateful she didn’t seem to want to talk more.
She started zipping up her backpack, putting on her shoes, and whispering some basic instructions to Eddie in case Steve woke up.
“Replace the ice pack, don’t let him try to move off the couch by himself and only if he has to use the bathroom. The bucket at the end of the couch is if he gets sick. He needs water if you can try to help him drink some, and if he thinks he can stomach it, there’s some crackers on the coffee table. He’s due for more meds in two hours, but you probably won’t be here for that,” she rambled off.
Eddie nodded along, mentally making a to-do list.
“You’re sure you got it? He sometimes isn’t able to talk.”
Jesus Christ, how had he never noticed this? Was he that oblivious to what Steve was going through?
“I got it.”
He could hear a car pull into the driveway and Robin opened the door to leave.
“If you need me, call me. The Harringtons will probably be as quick as possible, but just in case,” she begged him.
“Okay.”
She left and closed the door behind her quietly, leaving Eddie staring at it for a minute.
He heard a small whimper from the couch and he rushed over, looking down at Steve.
The ice pack had fallen off his face, and his eyes were scrunched closed like he was still suffering even in his sleep.
Eddie leaned over to pick up the ice pack, ready to trade it out with a fresh one, when one of Steve’s eyes opened.
He froze and looked at him, hoping he would go back to sleep quickly.
“Eds?”
Shit.
He’d started calling him Eds in the hospital, always walking into his room with a bright smile and a ‘hey, Eds’ that had Eddie cracking a small smile.
He hadn’t heard it since then.
“Yeah?” he finally responded, trying to keep his voice as soft as possible.
He knew when Wayne got headaches, he was very sensitive to noise.
“Hurts,” Steve whimpered out.
Eddie’s heart shattered in his chest.
He walked closer to the couch and knelt down on his knees, placing a hand on Steve’s forehead.
“I know, Stevie. You wanna try to have a sip of water for me?” He whispered.
“No, hurts.”
“Might help,” Eddie tried to bribe him.
But Steve’s eyes were closed again, and even though he wasn’t asleep, he was making it very clear that he couldn’t quite handle keeping them open right now.
Eddie gently ran his fingers back and forth across his forehead, down his nose, along his temples, smiling as Steve’s wrinkles seemed to disappear, his face relaxing slowly.
“Go back to sleep, Stevie,” he whispered.
“Mhm,” Steve let out before he seemed to actually fall back asleep.
—------------------------------
Eddie didn’t move from his spot for nearly 45 minutes, even when his legs went numb and his hand started cramping.
Steve hadn’t so much as snored, so Eddie didn’t want to risk any movement waking him up.
“Would you like something to drink?” Mrs. Harrington asked him, startling him slightly.
“No, thank you,” Eddie responded as quietly as possible.
“Are you the Eddie from the hospital? The one he insisted on visiting every day?” she asked as she sat down on the coffee table right next to him.
“Um, yes ma’am,” he knew he sounded nervous.
“Oh, so you boys worked it all out? He promised he’d tell me if you said yes!” she smiled at him.
“Worked…what out?”
Her eyes widened.
“Your feelings! Steve told us he was going over to your house the day you got out of the hospital and telling you how he felt,” she explained, sounding somewhat unsure now.
Eddie felt like his stomach had dropped to the floor.
“He what?”
“Oh dear,” she said, wringing her hands in her lap. “I suppose I was wrong.”
Eddie saw Mr. Harrington walk into the kitchen from his spot on the floor, felt the tension in the air as Mrs. Harrington tried to change the subject quickly.
But he wasn’t going to stop thinking about what she meant.
Steve had had feelings for him? Like, more than a friend feelings?
Steve let out a small groan in his sleep, shifting his head a bit.
Eddie tried to shush him a bit, running his fingers gently through his hair, careful not to catch on any tangles.
He could feel Mrs. Harrington watching, but she didn’t say anything else until Steve seemed to calm again.
“You know, Steve came out to us in March. Said he’d met a guy who was worth the risk. We love him, we always will, but we were very worried. I think any parent worries when their child, even their grown ones, says they’re in love with someone. In this case, we didn’t know if you felt the same, or if you even liked men. And Steve here tends to fall fast and fall hard and forgets to wear a parachute before the jump.”
Eddie didn’t say anything, his head filled with the way she’d called his feelings love.
“But I think I see now that he didn’t need one. I think he had you jumping with him and you remembered the parachute for him.”
He turned to look at her, her fond smile pointed at them both as he continued to run his fingers through Steve’s hair.
She got up and went into the kitchen, leaving Eddie to think about what she said.
That’s all he did for a while.
—---------------------------------------
The next time Steve woke up, he was slightly more coherent, but still didn’t want to eat or drink.
Mrs. Harrington had gone to lay down for a nap while Mr. Harrington was finishing up something in his office. They both told him to come find them if Steve woke up and needed something.
At some point, Eddie had rested his head against Steve’s chest, listening to his heart beat loudly against his ear.
“Eddie?”
No, why Eddie again? Why not Eds?
“Hey, Stevie,” he lifted his head and spoke just above a whisper. “How about a few sips of water?”
“I can’t.”
“Sure you can. I’ll help.”
Robin had been kind enough to find a straw for the cup of water she’d gotten before she left, so Eddie just held it up close to Steve’s lips and told him to sip.
Steve did manage a few sips before he shook his head and started to turn away.
“It’s time for more meds. Wanna take them?” Eddie asked.
“Bed?”
“Um.”
“Carry me.”
Eddie let out a small laugh at the demanding tone in Steve’s voice.
Even through the pain, and exhaustion, and struggle of speaking, he sounded like a drama queen.
Eddie might love him.
“Won’t that hurt?”
“A little.”
“Then shouldn’t you stay here?”
“Wanna cuddle.”
Oh.
“Uh. With…your mom?”
“You.”
Eddie was going to pass out.
There was no way he’d be able to carry Steve up the stairs to his room and then cuddle with him, and pretend he wasn’t feeling the overwhelming urge to propose marriage.
These new feelings kicked in too fast for him to process and he knew cuddling wouldn’t help.
“Please?” Steve asked, his eyes squinting slightly from what little light was making it through the curtains.
“Okay, but don’t laugh when I get out of breath.”
Steve didn’t respond, or really do anything to acknowledge what Eddie said, but he was pretty sure Steve’s head hurt too much to laugh anyway so he took a chance.
He removed the blankets on top of him and managed to pick him up relatively easily.
The walk to the stairs wasn’t bad.
The walk up the stairs was rough for a couple reasons: One, Eddie was out of shape and Steve weighed roughly the same as him. Two, Steve kept whimpering in pain with every step.
When they finally reached his bedroom, Eddie was panting and Steve had a couple tears falling from his eyes.
“I sure hope the cuddling lives up to expectations after that,” Eddie tried to joke.
“Worth it,” Steve sighed.
He set Steve in his bed first, made sure the fan in the room was on and the curtains were shut, then got into his bed.
People dreamed for most of high school to be in this position, but Eddie hadn’t let himself picture it.
He wouldn’t have ever pictured this scenario anyway.
Steve was sweaty, almost like he was running a fever, but Eddie didn’t let that deter him from scooting closer and moving Steve into his arms.
They both fell asleep in minutes, Eddie’s fingers wrapped up in Steve’s hair.
—----------------------------------------
When Eddie woke again, it was pitch black in the room.
Steve was also awake.
“Stevie? You need something? Feeling any better?”
He didn’t answer for a minute, and Eddie considered running to get one of his parents, when he finally spoke up.
“A little. Thanks”
Eddie let out a breath and relaxed back against the pillows under him.
“You can go if you want,” Steve nearly whispered into the darkness.
Eddie tensed again as he looked over at Steve, who was playing with the blanket covering him in his hands, not looking at Eddie.
“And if I don’t want to?” Eddie asked, reaching a hand out to hold Steve’s.
“I know you hate me, so. You can go.”
Well, that just wouldn’t do.
Eddie couldn’t let him think he hated him, even though up until this morning, he thought he did.
“Stevie, lay down and look at me.”
Steve, surprisingly, listened and Eddie felt a tug at his heart that Steve was willing to listen to him that easily.
Eddie cupped Steve’s jaw, gentle in case of any lingering migraine pains.
“I don’t hate you. I think I realized that maybe I had my own feelings wrong for a long time,” he admitted.
“What?”
“The best part of my days in the hospital were when you visited. Wayne used to make fun of me when you left for being stuck in the hospital for longer because I was lovesick. And when I got home and you didn’t come visit unless you were bringing the kids by, I just kinda thought it meant things were back to normal. King Steve didn’t need to be nice anymore, his charity case was safe and mostly healed,” Eddie stopped Steve from interrupting at that, scared to lose his train of thought. “So I went back to hating you. It’s easier to hate someone when your heart’s broken, ya know? And I just assumed you were the same Steve I thought you always were. But then I realized that you never really were the Steve I thought you were. And especially now, you’re a guy who deserves kindness and care and love. I’d really like the chance to give that to you.”
He felt Steve’s face getting wet and he brushed his thumbs back and forth to wipe away the tears falling.
“I was going to tell you the day you got out of the hospital,” Steve said, voice trembling.
“Tell me what?”
“That I loved you.”
The world stopped spinning, Eddie would bet money on it.
“You did?”
“I did.” Steve gulped. “I do.”
“You do?”
“You’re a hard person to fall out of love with, Munson.”
It was Eddie’s turn to cry, a few tears falling from his eyes onto the pillowcase below.
“So…”
“So?” Steve asked.
“Is the headache better? I’d really like to kiss you,” Eddie said.
“It’s good enough for a kiss. Might even work better than the meds,” Steve’s smirk could be seen even in the darkness.
Eddie didn’t need to wait for more permission than that.
He was gentle, of course. Just because his migraine had gotten better, didn’t mean he was ready to make out.
He gave him a couple soft pecks on the lips, smiling when he felt Steve smiling against him.
“I think you’re probably pretty easy to fall in love with, Harrington.”
“Yeah?” he asked, voice rough.
“Yeah, might be a new record for me.”
“I’ve been told it’s very sexy when I’m suffering through a migraine,” Steve joked.
“You have no idea,” Eddie joked back.
They stayed in bed all night, Steve eventually falling back asleep again.
Eddie stayed awake though, memorizing the shape of Steve’s body with his fingers, or at least what he could reach while he held him.
They could talk more tomorrow, when Steve’s migraine fully subsided.
But Eddie knew what he wanted now, and he’d never been so happy to be wrong about someone.
Steddie She's All That au????
Steve pulls up to the Munson's trailer, a secondhand acoustic across the backseat. Can't believe he's here; that he's actually doing this. He shouldn't. Absolutely should not; knows he let his still-simmering animosity with Billy Hargrove push him to this, to trying to date Eddie Munson, to proving that he's still popular enough to win prom king with the Freak on his arm.
Munson doesn't deserve it, is the thing. For all his weirdness, his off-putting behavior, Steve thinks he might be nice. Or kind, maybe? Steve's noticed how he gathers the freshman who have no one else, gives them understanding, a place to belong. And those kids, they remind him of Dustin, Will, Mike, Lucas, and he can't help but feel something warm towards the Freak, some kind of kinship.
He puts the car in reverse, can't go through with pretending to like this guy who did nothing wrong but be too much himself.
Before he gets his foot on the gas a head pokes out the front door.
"You came," Eddie shouts.
"Said I was." Steve surrenders to his fate and puts the car in park. Eddie watches him as he grabs the guitar case, hauls it up the stairs, only moving to step out of the way.
Steve's eyes scan the living room and kitchen, something in his chest loosening as he does. There are mugs and hats covering the walls, a worn sofa, clutter on every surface. It's home in a way Steve has never experienced. He loves it.
"Alright, let it out, Harrington. I'm poor, etc."
"No!" Steve startles; hadn't realized he'd been staring so obviously. "I like it."
Eddie makes a face, but offers him a beer and guides him to sit on the couch.
"How much do you know?" Eddie asks without preamble.
He strums a couple of notes, things he picked up at summer camp ages ago. Munson nods. "Better than I expected."
Eddie runs through notes and chords, helps Steve get his fingering right. He's patient, almost kind, and he laughs softly as he gently corrects Steve's mistakes.
And Steve's fingers, they won't behave, keep slipping off the strings. Eddie arranges himself to drape around his shoulders, fits their hands together. He's warm, fingers long and callused, his rings slightly colder than Steve's skin.
"Like this, Harrington." And he and Steve strum in tandem, and Steve is caught by the light glinting in his curls, the softness of his dark brown eyes, the fullness of his pink lips. He wonders how soft they are, what they taste like, if Eddie would cling to him or take control.
"You with me, Steve?" Eddie asks, shocking him back to the present.
"Yeah, yes, right here. Sorry." He throws himself into learning, but can't stop stealing little looks at the man teaching him.
And Steve, he knows it's not a bet anymore. He'll tell Hagan and Hargrove he's out, take whatever shit they give him, and Eddie never has to know.
---
A month in, Steve walks into the trailer and sees those little figurines, like the kids have for their game, scattered on the coffee table; sheets of paper with scrawled writing and doodles lining the floor; one of those weird manual things that Dustin always lugs around sitting open on the couch.
"Fuck, Stevie, I'm sorry. Lost track of time." Eddie's face turns pink as he gathers the looseleaf and slams the book closed.
"You play that dragon game?" He asks. He picks up one of the figures, studies the meticulous paint. It does something weird to his heart.
"What did you think Hellfire--Wait." Eddie pauses. "Why do you--Steve Harrington--know about dnd?"
"The kids I babysit play."
Eddie stares at him openmouthed. "Shit, sweetheart. You've been holding out on me. You ever join them?"
"Nah. To tell you the truth, they're pretty intimidating about it."
Eddie laughs, drawing Steve's eyes to his slender neck. "You scared of children, Stevie?"
"You haven't met them, man. They're terrifying."
"You know," Eddie's eyelashes flicker. "I run a campaign with Hellfire after school every Friday. You could--if you wanted--you could come. You're probably busy, I know, but if you find some free time and you wan--
"Eddie!" Steve laughs. "I wouldn't miss it."
"Really?"
"Promise."
---
He shows up that first Friday to some mixed reactions from most of the Hellfire members, and Eddie's shy, pleased smile. They make eye contact and Steve's stomach swoops.
"You came," Eddie says when they get a second alone.
"I told you I would." Steve laughs.
"C'mon, you're going to tell me this isn't a hopelessly lame way for King Steve to spend a Friday night?"
"Maybe." Steve nudges Eddie's chest. "And maybe I wouldn't want to be anywhere else."
Steve watches them play and is transfixed. He's never seen Eddie totally in his element. His voice goes deep and rumbly, doing accents, shouting, jumping around, banging on the table. Steve can't pull his eyes away, doesn't want to, can't stop smiling.
"What'd you think?" Eddie asks when the session is over and they're alone. His hands shuffle through his notebook, eyes fixed firmly on the table.
Steve grabs his wrists, soft, careful. "Amazing, Eddie," he says. "You were amazing."
"Really?" Eddie's throat bobs. He finally looks up, meets Steve's eyes.
"Never seen anything like you." His eyes drift to Eddie's mouth. The space between them shrinks.
"Eddie?"
"Yeah?" his voice waivers.
"Can I kiss you?"
He thinks Eddie might pull away, freeze up, but instead his eyelashes flutter, his lips shaping into a gentle smile. "I'd be disappointed if you didn't."
Steve laughs, slips his fingers through Eddie's hair, closes the distance between them. It starts sweet and soft, until Eddie's tongue brushes his bottom lip and Steve opens for him, lets him take control, as easy as anything. For the first time, he lets someone else lead, sinks into it, into Eddie. It's perfect.
---
Prom court nominations come out with Steve number one on the ballot for king. The other nominees are Billy, Tommy, and some weirdo religious zealot junior Steve barely knows, Jason Carver.
He doesn't think much of it, having slipped so easily into a version of himself that sits at the Hellfire table at lunch, spends evenings at the Munson trailer and nights in Eddie's bed. Sure, he catches Hargrove glaring at him throughout the day, but pays it no mind. Billy Hargrove's always pissed about something, anyway.
So, he's unprepared when Hargrove and Hagan corner him that afternoon as he's waiting for Eddie to finish up a deal. There's a kick in his stomach, a swirl of nausea, at their presence. He didn't ever tell Eddie about the bet, figured it didn't matter since they were together, since they both started falling.
"Think you're hot shit, Harrington?" Hargrove asks. Hagan laughs like he's never heard a real joke before.
"I'm out," he says in way of answer. "Bet's over."
"Stevie-Boy, I don't think you understand," Hagan says.
"Nah, I'm not doing it." Worry prickles at his scalp. Eddie will be done soon, and he needs Billy and Tommy gone.
Hargrove pinches Steve's chin in his grip. "We made a bet, and you're seeing it through."
"Hey, hey, hey," the last voice Steve wants to hear right now shouts. "What the fuck is going on here? Get the fuck off him, Hargrove."
Billy's wrenched away, but he's laughing, and Steve is frozen at the train wreck unfolding in front of him.
"Harrington tell you about the bet?" Billy asks.
"Bet?" Eddie's nose wrinkles in the cute way Steve loves and he's terrified of what comes next.
"Uh-huh. Hagan and I bet Harrington here that he couldn't date the biggest dud in school and still wind up prom king. Little did we know, I guess."
Steve watches as the words hit Eddie, as he processes them, as his face falls. His gut twists as he watches his boyfriend go tense.
"What?" Eddie's eyes widen with panic.
Tommy's face contorts into a cruel smile."You didn't think Harrington was actually into you, did you?"
Eddie doesn't respond, won't look at any of them, draws into himself.
Hargrove snickers. "That's what I thought. Have a good night." He gives them a pageant queen wave as he walks away.
Steve's crosses to Eddie as soon as the other two are gone, but Eddie flinches, stopping him in his tracks.
"Was I bet, Steve?" He asks. His voice cracks.
"It wasn't like that, Ed, I swear. I swear." He grabs Eddie's shoulders, and again, he's pushed away.
"You didn't answer the question."
"It was real for me," Steve babbles. "It was all real for me. I promise."
"Answer me!" Tears limn his eyes. "Was I a bet?"
"It wasn't like--"
"Was I a fucking bet?" He yells and Steve can't take it. Can't take the hurt all over Eddie's face, the betrayal. Wants to erase it, to make everything okay, to get back to where they were last night, wrapped in Eddie's bedsheets, giggling.
"It started as a bet, okay? It did. I messed up by not telling you. I know I did. But I like you so much. I--I--" Steve loves him. He knows without any doubt, but he can't say it not now, not for this.
"Fuck you, Harrington," Eddie says. His voice is even but his face is a wreck.
"Please, Eddie." Steve begs. "Please. Give me a chance to explain. You're everything."
Eddie doesn't respond. He climbs into his van, drives away without a second glance.
---
He tries to apologize.
He tries to apologize, but Eddie isn't at school, not at first, and the death glare he gets from the Hellfire guys lets him know he's no longer welcome. When Eddie does come back he won't so much as look at Steve.
He goes to the trailer park where Wayne--Wayne who he watched sports with, Wayne who liked him--stands on the steps and says, "I don't think you have any business here anymore, kid. Not if you know what's good for you." And Steve nods and goes home and cries.
---
Steve stands on the stairs of the Munson trailer in his tux with a bouquet of flowers that are so purple they're almost black and a self-recorded tape in his hands. Prom is tonight but he has no interest in going to the dance that started all this bullshit.
Music pounds from inside; Judas Priest, he thinks. Eddie's van is in the driveway and Wayne's car is not.
The music quiets at his knock, and his heart pounds in the silence. Eddie frowns when he opens the door, but it morphs into something infinitely sadder when he sees Steve.
"Aren't you supposed to be at a dance?" Eddie asks.
"No, I--I didn't want to go. I wanted to say--Eddie, I'm sorry. I should've told you the truth from the beginning. I was afraid of losing you, and you learned the truth in the worst possible way."
Eddie doesn't speak or move, so Steve barrels on.
"I--uh--I ordered these for you. Before we broke up. And I just thought--you should still have them. That you would like them."
Eddie takes the flowers like he's in a daze.
"And uh, this too," Steve places the cassette in Eddie's hand. "It's um, stupid, probably? But I miss you and I'm sorry and just--take it."
---
Steve's been at the quarry for two hours, staring up at the stars from the hood of his car. He should go, probably. Eddie clearly isn't going to show. But he can't make himself. If he stays here, looking at the sky, losing Eddie won't be real.
He's dozing off, almost asleep, when the shine of headlights has him blinking alert. A familiar van trundles to a stop next to him, and Eddie climbs out. He's wearing a snug black button-down with a deep purple rose pinned to his chest, tight black jeans, and shining black boots.
"You came." Steve scrambles off his car, graceless in his relief, his gratitude.
Eddie nods. "Wasn't sure if I should but--" he shrugs.
"I'm glad you did. Thank you. I--" he swallows. "Eddie, I'm so sorry. I'll do anything, anything if it means you'll forgive me."
"Anything?" Eddie's mouth turns up at the corner.
Steve nods, firm. "I promise."
"You learned 'Rainbow in the Dark' for me."
"I did."
"That's a really hard song." Eddie smiles but tears track down his cheeks.
Steve laughs. "It's so hard."
Somehow, without Steve noticing, their fingers are entwined. Eddie lifts their joined hands, studying them. "Oh, baby, your calluses."
"Yeah." Steve blushes. "It was important I got it right."
Eddie's mouth drops as he stares, studying Steve's eyes.
"I know it took you a lot to trust me," Steve says. "And I know I broke that, but please, please try to believe me when I say that it was real for me. From the beginning. It was all real."
Eddie clears his throat. "When did you know?"
Steve's smile is soft. "That first guitar lesson. You arranged my fingers and you just--you were so beautiful."
"Oh," Eddie breathes.
"I was an idiot, Ed. I fell in love with you, and thought I could back out of the bet, that you never had to know. I never meant to hurt you."
"Wait...love me?"
Steve freezes. He hadn't meant to say that, not yet, not when things are so tenuous. "Yeah. I--yeah, I love you, Eddie."
"That's funny, sweetheart. Cause I love you too, and four hours ago I thought falling for you was the worst mistake I've ever made."
Steve's smile matches Eddie's now. "Dance with me?" he asks.
There's no music; just the whirr of early spring insects, the rustle of leaves, but Eddie still smirks, and pulls Steve close. They sway against each other, beaming, glowing, brighter than the stars.
"You're missing your prom, Stevie," Eddie says.
"Nah. I'm not missing anything. I have you."
This got me thinking.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You’ll notice Mike is sitting on the couch, literally in the same spot he was sitting almost a year earlier when Will confided in him for the first time about the mindflayer. Will also asked that Mike not tell the others because they wouldn’t understand.
And here we are again. Nothing's changed.
Except it has.
Now, instead of Will being right beside Mike, with them on the same level both sharing something that is weighing down on them, we have Mike sitting next to Lucas, while Will is sitting higher up above all of them. It’s only now after several signs of the mindflayer, and with everyone present, that Will is deciding to come clean about what he’s been seeing. Not one on one with Mike like before.
Just makes me wonder what Mike could have been thinking at this moment, in this exact spot.
I wonder why Will lied to me about being okay that first time at Day of the Dead? Did he really think it wasn’t a big deal? Or was something else stopping him from opening up to me like he normally would when I asked if he was okay?
Then he’s suddenly thinking about the second time it happened, at the field, which is when he ran off with El. Obviously Will wouldn’t have been able to tell him then. And then the final time at castle Byers after their rain fight… yeah that's when Will finally told them, but look what brought them here?
This also makes the ending of s3 hit a bit harder.
I guess I’ve been feeling distant from you. Like, you’re pulling away from me or something.
While Mike has his own battle he’s dealing with when it comes to choosing El over Will and the party at times, I think this realization that this played a role in Will distancing himself instead of confiding in Mike like he did before, is such an interesting concept.
I was worrying too much about El and… I don’t know. Maybe I feel like I lost you or something…
It's as if Mike has already outright told us why he latched onto El in the first place and how it directly correlated with why he felt like he lost Will (lost exclusive best friend perks? idk dude is dramatic).
That it was about worry for him when it came to El. Concern. Care.
What he feels for El is deep and meaningful, but it also comes with a dose of obligation and responsibility. Mike feels extremely indebted to El after everything she has does for them. Not only has she had to endure so much because of those around her expecting things from her, but that also includes Mike. His worry for her is fairly warranted.
Mike's attempt in s3 to be as normal as possible, while simultaneously trying to juggle his care for El and his relationship with Will and his other friends... it's just interesting seeing how it plays out and where it all leads to.
In s3, but especially s4, there is this distinction that Mike makes, where he separates Will from their other friends. He also then compares his relationship with El to theirs and how it's negatively impacted them because of his feelings and behavior...
If it was really platonic between him and Will, why in the hell is he making these distinctions at all? Why is he separating Will from the category with his friends and putting him into a category with his gf...?
Never Trust An Elevator
Tumblr media
Pairing: Eddie Munson x Reader
Requested: “12🧍‍♀️angst with Eddie Munson”
Prompt: “Why do you hate me so much? What did I ever do to you?”
Warnings: Angst, Arguments, Public Embarrassment, Claustrophobia, Panic Attacks
Summary: Eddie’s been quite a dick to you lately, can things be mended?
~~~~~~
In all those cliche teen drama movies it was always a given that the nerds and freaks would stick together no matter what. They’d find solace in each other and were accepted. It didn’t matter how weird they were; if they were band kids, math geeks, or video game nerds. They were better than the jocks and preppy girls, and there was a lot less drama. Turns out, real life is actually quite different.
Moments ago you had been happily chatting with everyone at the lunch table and listening to Dustin ramble on about his new D&D campaign. And then Eddie showed up.
He slams his lunch tray down onto the table and takes a seat next to Gareth like he has been for the last four months. You immediately shut your mouth and hang your head low at his presence, playing with the goopy mashed potatoes on your tray. He used to sit next to you. He used to steal food off of your tray. He used to wrap his arm around you while he went on his over the top theatrical spiels about how high school is a waste of time.
He used to.
You have no idea what happened between you and him. You’d been best friends for the longest time, and you’d grown up living next to each other until he moved to the trailer park. But one day four months ago he never came to pick you up before school, and when you confronted him about it after walking three miles, he just started giving you the cold shoulder. You have yet to figure out why.
“So Y/N,” Mike starts, oblivious to your reluctance to speak, “Are you excited to finally join us for the campaign tomorrow?” He wiggles his eyebrows at you in excitement and your heart immediately sinks. You’d missed so many recently and you could tell it was really starting to disappoint them, so you promised them that you would be at this one.
But you couldn’t hold up that promise.
Three months ago your mom had gotten sick. Really sick. She’s been bedridden and unable to work. So you had to not only take up an extra job, but you had to take care of her and your little brother as well. Because of this you had to start backing out of hellfire campaigns to work your shifts or pick your brother up or take care of your mom. But you couldn’t tell any of them that, you didn’t need to burden them with your life problems. You did wish you could tell Eddie though, he would understand. At least the old one would.
“Um,” you nervously rub the back of your neck, trying to figure out how you should say this, “About that actually..” You can practically sense everyone’s disappointment without even looking up. Suddenly, two hands loudly slam onto the table shaking everyones trays, and startling you.
“Let me guess,” Eddie starts, “The princess can’t make it again?” You bite your lip, not looking up to meet his eyes as you slowly shake your head in shame.
“I have something else I need to do-“
“You always do dont you?” Eddie laughs, mocking you, “You just never have time for your friends anymore I guess.” You scoff at his words and shake your head again.
“Yeah as if you’ve been such a great friend recently...” you mumble under your breath. Eddie’s head perked up at that and he glared at you.
“You know what I think boys?” He speaks loudly, standing up onto the table, “I think, that she thinks she’s too good for us.” By now there were a lot of eyes on your lunch table as Eddie loudly declared your betrayal. He slowly walked down the length of it, continuing to speak, “I mean why else would she skip out on our campaigns with no actual explanation?” He mockingly wonders aloud.
“Eddie stop it.” You hiss, heat rising to your cheeks in embarrassment as almost the whole lunch room was paying attention to this exchange. He only laughs and the rest of the table stares at you with sympathy.
“C’mon Eddie that’s not fair-” Jeff attempts to chime in, only to be cut off by the man himself.
“Oh and what she’s doing is?!” He asks incredulously, “She hardly even shows interest in us anymore, and when she sits here she doesn’t even looks at us, let alone talk to us.” He eventually stops in front of you and you refuse to look up at him, visibly shaking in both embarrassment and anger. Tears prick at your eyes and begin to drip down your cheeks.
“So what else am I supposed to think when she starts breaking promises too?” He squats down in front of you, eyes studying you carefully. “The only possible explanation is that she thinks she’s too good for us....” He reaches out and grabs your chin, forcing you to look up at him, “Isn’t that right sweetheart?”
You tear your face away from his hold and stand up, angrily grabbing your chocolate milk from your tray and dumping it over his head in the process. The entire lunch room audibly gasps.
“Fuck you Eddie Munson.” You seethe before storming out of the cafeteria.
~~~~~
It was now 7pm and you were shifting through old newspaper articles in the basement of the library. School had ended hours ago and you were incredibly thankful when that last bell rang out, signaling the start of the weekend. Everyone had been staring at you since lunch, and you could only hope that they would forget about what had happened by Monday.
You had a huge essay due next week and you were searching for sources to back up your thesis. You normally weren’t so focused on your grades, but you couldn’t afford to fail your senior year. In the fall you would need to be home to take care of your mom and brother, not retaking Mr. Figs english literature class.
The old elevator in the corner of the room made a loud clanking noise, startling you. The stairs were being remodeled or some stupid shit so people were forced to use the metal death trap if the wanted to come down here. A loud sigh escaped your lips as you realized someone was on their way down, already missing the peace and quiet you had. The doors creaked open and you looked up to find the last person that you wanted to see right now: Eddie.
He’d very obviously showered and changed his clothes since lunch, as there were no remnants of chocolate milk left on him. He looked extremely out of place surrounded by books, magazines, and newspaper articles filled to the brim with information and knowledge. Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion but you looked away as soon as his eyes met yours, attempting to pretend like he wasn’t there.
“Fancy seeing you here.” he says as the heels of his boots click into the room. You ignore him as you continue digging through different articles, attempting to get out of there as fast as possible.
“Okay...” he scratches the back of his neck awkwardly, not really knowing what to say. You can tell he feels bad about earlier but you couldn’t care less. He had humiliated you in front of the entire cafeteria over something he had no idea about. You rolled your eyes, continuing to look through the articles you had collected before they were ripped from your hands. You whirled around to find him shuffling through the articles looking very confused. “Eddie! Stop it give them back!”
“You’re actually doing homework?” He asked, obviously surprised.
“So what if I am? It’s none of your fucking business.” You snap at him, feeling incredibly agitated. His eyebrows raised in both surprise and irritation.
“Wow...touched a nerve I guess.” He huffed out, handing the articles back to you. You snatch them from his grip and shove them into your bag, turning away from him to continue digging for the last article that you needed. You could feel his eyes boring into the back of your head while you did so and you sighed, giving in to your curiosity.
“Do you need something? Or are you just here to stare at me?” You ask, pulling the last article you needed from the filing cabinet and slamming it closed, before turning around to face him. He looked incredibly annoyed at your newfound attitude towards him, but you couldn’t give two shits.
“Well I did come here to apologize, but now I can see that was a mistake on my part.” He snaps at you. You roll your eyes, marching your way over to the elevator. “Yeah it was because I certainly don’t want your fucking apology.”
He scoffs, trailing two steps behind you, not wanting you to get the last word in this ridiculous argument. “You don’t deserve it either. I was right at lunch today wasn’t I? You think you’re too good for us, to good for me?” You enter the elevator and jam your thumb into the ground floor button repeatedly. You wish that the elevator doors would close on him so you could end this stupid bickering, but you unfortunately were not so lucky. You never seemed to be lately.
“I don’t know how the hell you got that stupid idea in your head when you’re the one who stopped being friends with me.” You practically growl at him, watching as he only grows more angry, his voice rising to a yell. The elevator doors close as he does, and the death trap starts to move upwards.
“You’re a selfish fucking brat you know that? I never should have started being friends with you in the first place!” At this point something in you snapped, because how dare he call you selfish. You didn’t know what else to do other than scream,
“Why do you hate me so much?! What did I ever do to you?!”
He freezes for a moment, surprised at your aggressive outburst. His eyes soften significantly and he opens his mouth to speak, only to be interrupted by a loud clang. You both stumble as the elevator came to an abrupt stop. The single light overhead began to flicker on and off and your eyes widened in horror.
“No...no no no no, c’mon,” you rush over to the buttons, pressing every single one and praying it would get the elevator moving again, “Please don’t do this please!” You beg the stupid metal death trap, beginning to panic. You shove your finger into the “Help” button over and over again expecting something magical to happen, but to no avail, the elevator was stuck.
Eddie watched your reaction carefully, knowing you were prone to panic attacks, especially when you were feeling claustrophobic. You backed yourself into the corner as your breathing continued to grow faster and faster. He took a careful step towards you arms outstretched.
“Y/N...hey it’s okay-“
“No no no no this is not okay, nothing about this is okay!” You cut him off, clawing at your chest in a panic and sinking down into the corner, hyperventilating. “We’re gonna die in here... oh god we’re gonna fucking die.”
Eddie could tell you were becoming hysteric, falling past the point of reason. He’d seen you like this many times and knew exactly what you needed. He didn’t know if you’d want his help though, especially after what he had done to you today. But as he watched tears stream down your face and your lips tremble in utter terror he decided he didn’t care. Your well-being was more important to him than the possibility of you lashing out at him afterwards.
Your vision was beginning to blur and a loud ringing grew in your ears as you rocked yourself back and forth, the idea of the walls closing in on you only adding to your fear. You barely even register the reassuring words that were being whispered to you or the fact that your body was being maneuvered. Part of you realizes you are in a full blown panic attack, but you can’t slow down and try to calm yourself. Your brain is stuck on autopilot and you can’t stop mumbling incoherently. It isn’t until your wheezing begins to slow that you realize you’re pressed up against someone’s chest, your hearing fading in and out.
“...right here...breathe for me...not leaving...”
Eddie’s voice was fading in and out of your ears as you slowly returned to reality. Your body feels numb, but you try your best to relax. A sharp gasp cuts its way through your throat, and you’re able to get one deep breath of air into your lungs.
“That’s it sweetheart, just like that. Keep taking deep breaths for me.” Eddie comforts you, “I’m right here with you, you’re safe. I won’t let anything happen to you.” Your back is pressed against his chest as you sit in between his legs. His chin rests on top of your head, and one of his arms is wrapped around you, while he strokes your hair.
After a few more moments your breathing returns to normal, but the ache of dread in your chest remains. You slowly try to pull away from Eddie, realizing he probably doesn’t want to keep holding you as apologies spew from your mouth.
“I-I’m sorry...I’m so sorry I didn’t mean to freak out like that-”
“No no no sweetheart don’t apologize. You’re okay, just let me hold you.” He insists, gently guiding you back towards his chest. You don’t argue, resting your head against him, listening to his heartbeat. A few moments pass before he finally speaks up, his fingers still toying with your hair.
“I don’t hate you...” You don’t say anything, patiently waiting for him to continue.
“To be honest with you I...” he pauses for a second, trying to figure out how to word this, “I never did. Quite the opposite actually.” Your eyebrows furrow in confusion and you sit up, spinning around in his arms to look at him.
“What do you mean?” You ask. He hesitates for a moment, before eventually spilling.
“I...I like you Y/N. A lot more than I should.” Your eyes widen in surprise at his confession, as you try to process this new information.
“But-but why have you been-”
“Such an asshole the last few months?” He finishes your sentence for you, and you nod in response. “Because you really are too good for me.” He says, reaching out to stroke your cheek. You shake your head in confusion and he sighs.
“Everywhere I go, things go wrong and I hurt people. It’s like I’m a walking disease. I mean look at me, I’m 20 years old and still in high school, I live in the trailer park with my uncle, I don’t have a job, I have no plans for college and...and...you, you’re just so perfect. You’re too good for me. You were meant for great things and I know that if I continue to hang around you I’m just going to drag you down with me.”
“So your solution is...to humiliate me in front of the entire cafeteria?” You ask, raising an eyebrow at him. He chuckles in response to that, rubbing his neck awkwardly.
“Yeah well I think you got me beat with the whole dumping chocolate milk on my head thing.” He retorts. You giggle at that, eyes crinkling with joy and he beams at you.
“Yeah well you deserved it.” You tease, giggling some more. He goes silent for a few moments, racking his brain before he carefully takes your hands into his, his thumbs caressing them gently.
“I don’t know if you’ll even want to forgive me, and honestly if you don’t I won’t blame you one bit but I really, truly, am sorry for the way that I’ve been treating you. I never wanted to be the reason that you started pushing everyone away and-”
“Woah woah woah, you’re not the reason I started pushing people away.” You cut him off and he looks at you, incredibly baffled by your words. You sigh and bite your lip wondering how you should put this, “If I tell you, you have to promise not to tell any of the others.”
He raises an eyebrow at you as if to say, ‘When have I ever told anyone your secrets?’ But still, he places his hand over his chest and mutters the words, “Scouts honor.”
You give short laugh at his silliness before you begin to explain to him everything that’s been going on at home with your mom, your brother, your two jobs, and focusing more on your education. By the end of it he held his head in his hands, groaning in regret about how stupid he is for not noticing something was genuinely wrong, and instead exploiting your absence for the whole world to see.
“Jesus Christ I’m so fucking stupid.” He groans.
“I won’t deny that,” you tease him, gently smiling, “It’s okay Eddie really, there was no way you could’ve known-”
“But I should’ve known. I should’ve known there was something going on with you instead of avoiding you for my own selfish reasons. I should’ve never started acting like a dick in the first place Y/N.” He shakes his head again before gently taking your face in his hands, his thumbs stroking your cheeks, “I’m so fucking sorry baby. I should’ve never done this to you-”
You cut him off, leaning in to press your lips to his. You know that you’ve caught him off guard when he freezes for a moment, before he eventually gives in, his lips moving sensually with yours. You wrap your arms around his neck to deepen the kiss, as his hands settle on your waist.
His lips were soft and pillowy against your own, and a warm fuzzy feeling grew in your chest as he tugged you impossibly closer to him. He gently bit down on your bottom lip, soothing it with his tongue before pulling away, resting his forehead against yours while the two of you caught your breath.
“Holy shit...” he breathed out, “I’ve been waiting to do that since like eighth grade.” You laugh at him, shoving his chest lightly before looking up at him.
“You, Eddie Munson, are a complete and utter idiot.... but I forgive you. Cause your my complete and utter idiot.” He chuckles, leaning in to peck your lips again.
“I still wanna make it up to you somehow.” He states, still feeling slightly guilty. You look up at him, a smirk growing on your lips.
“How about you start sitting next to me at lunch again?” He tosses his head back in a laugh at your words before looking down at you again, smiling, “You’ve got yourself a deal pretty girl.”
The two are you are startled as a muffled voice blares through the overhead intercom, explaining that they’ll have the two of you out of there within 10 minutes. You sigh in relief and Eddie chuckles as you, placing a kiss onto your temple.
“I don’t know... I think we should get stuck in elevators together more often.” You roll your eyes and shove at his chest.
“Like I said Eddie, you’re a complete and utter idiot.”
So with the disney series on the way and one of my friends currently in a production of the lightning theif musical I've been getting back into pjo, and I've been listening to the newest olympian podcast (guy named mike who's never read pjo reads pjo and talks about it chapter by chapter with longtime fans), and in episode 8 he talks about how the cosmic threat (gods) is really different from the malicious threat in other books (eg voldemort) and it makes the stakes have a really different energy because it's not someone evil intentionally hurting people for personal reasons, it's larger powers at play who don't really care if they hurt people because to them it's just collateral damage.
Now of course mike is still early enough in book one that the cosmic threat is the only threat and we all know that changes as the series goes on, but it made me think about the difference between the godly antagonists and the human antagonists in pjo and how they're portrayed, and I sort of realized for the first time that, in the case of the fate of humanity, pjo doesn't have "bad guys".
There are two types of antagonist in pjo. The first are the gods/titans/other mythological beings who don't care about humans beyond what they can do for them and are mostly just fighting amongst themselves. Yeah, big bad villain Kronos isn't really a fan of humanity, but destroying humans isn't his main objective in the war. His objective is destroying the gods and taking back control. Destroying humans is a happy bonus for him, but even if he knew he wouldn't be capable of that he would still be fighting the gods.
The second type are the half blood traitors, and this is what I really care about, because Luke is an antagonist but he is NOT a villain. He's a victim. And that distinction is the entire point.
Throughout the entire series Percy shows he understands this concept. Our first minor human antagonist is Clarisse. Percy doesn't like Clarisse, but he understands she's a product of her situation and he treats her with genuine compassion even when he's not being very nice to her. He knows how important her quest is to her, that her anger stems from insecurity, and he makes sure she gets to take the fleece back even though he won't get any credit.
As the books go on we see more significant demigod antagonists who don't just bully Percy but actually betray him. It would be easy for Percy to hate them, to write them off. But he doesn't.
Nico turns on Percy several times throughout the series, always for the same reason (seeking information on his family/bianca). Someone else might see that repeated betrayal and be furious, and yes Percy is a little pissed, but his first conscious reaction is guilt that he wasn't there for Nico and his first instinct is to try and help him. He continues to trust Nico despite everything. And Nico fights alongside Percy in the very end when it counts.
Silena doesn't just betray Percy, but all of camp and by proxy all of humanity. And instead of seeing a traitor Percy sees that, just like Clarisse, just like Nico, Silena is a victim of this life they've all been forced into by their godly parents. Percy understands that the human threat has been created by the cosmic threat, and Percy turns around and says "no." He has Clarisse's back. He forgives Nico. He makes sure Silena is honored as a hero. He gives the knife to Luke.
And this is what sets pjo apart. This is why the story is so important. Luke is the ultimate traitor. He was Percy's first friend at camp after Grover, and at the end of book one he tries to kill Percy and nearly succeeds. He turns his back on the gods, offers himself to Kronos, and forsakes all of humanity. And instead of building up that animosity throughout the series and culminating with Percy killing Luke, Percy spends years trying to help him. He learns Luke's backstory. He meets his parents, the godly and the mortal. He sees Luke's experiences as what they are: trauma. He finds him and asks him to come back. He offers him his trust. Luke declines, multiple times. But Percy doesn't stop trying. And at the very end, when killing Luke is the only way to stop Kronos and Percy has the opportunity to do so, he doesn't. He is not the hero, and he knows it. Instead, he forgives Luke. He gives him the knife. He offers his trust. And Luke finally accepts.
So Luke dies, Kronos is defeated, and Percy is not victorious. He sees it as a failure that they all let it get far enough that saving Luke wasn't an option. The gods offer to grant Percy one wish as a reward for his heroism, with immortality as the implied correct choice. And Percy shocks them all and says "no. This isn't about me. It was never about me. I don't want to be a god. I want you to make sure that what happened to Luke never happens to anyone ever again."
Mike brushes away the few strands that flowed onto her face and then gently pinches those strands as if he were memorizing the texture and length to memory. He’s learned so much in the time you’ve worked under him yet somehow he had no idea about the way your hair reacted when twirled, or how feathery soft the ends were when pressed against the pads of his fingers. Ingraining the memory of your hair may have been insignificant to most, but to him it was a part of the many reasons why he found himself smitten with you.
There’s so much more to you and it's killing him inside that he’s only able to grasp what’s presented to him on the surface. Like a butterfly hit with a particularly strong breeze your eyelids flutter open. Those beautiful and glossy eyes of yours perceiving him through a sleep-induced haze that you tried to shake away with a few toss and turns of your head. Upon the groan you let slip Mike instinctively grabbed ahold of your chin, keeping your gaze on him and from wondering elsewhere.
“Hey, take it easy, there’s no rush.” As always you were stubborn. He could tell you still weren’t completely deprived of your will by the way you attempted to free your chin. But Mike’s always been someone who’s had to adapt – his willingness to compromise outmatching any of your stubborn fits you still liked to display. “I said, take it easy.” His grip became vice-like and that’s what got you to settle. You still appeared trapped in delusions, an Alice running from the world she brought upon herself.
This was your fault, after all. And much like Alice, you have no one but to blame but yourself.
“If you move around so much you’ll probably give yourself an even worse headache.” To emphasize his point he began harshly shaking your head back and forth, only regretting it when your attention left him in favor of screwing your eyelids shut. You groaned out a quiet plea, wanting him to stop so he did. “What? Isn’t that what you wanted?” You opted to sniffle out a barely concealed sob instead of speaking. That was fine with him though, he didn’t need you to say anything to understand what you felt or thought about something. He believes he knows you well enough to be able to make these translations himself. “Doesn’t feel so nice, does it?” He flicked your chin away and stood up, feeling a drop of water land on his head and the distant echo of traffic from outside the house. His basement wasn’t the most ideal place for him to house you in but with everything you’ve done it’s the place you’re most deserving of.
“I’ll be back after work.” He told her apologetically. The constant shifts of emotions he went through was enough to give anyone whiplash. “If Abby tells me you’ve been loud then I won’t hesitate to muzzle you. Is that what you want to happen, Y/n?” At his inquiry you squirmed, shaking your head in denial and then stopping right after. Mike smiled, pleased with how quickly you were adapting. “Yeah, I know you wouldn’t. So let’s not make this drugging thing a habit anymore, okay?” He didn’t like having to do these sorts of things but if his hand was forced then what else was he supposed to do?
You graced him with one last look of acknowledgement before seemingly drifting back off into your little wonderland. Mike couldn’t help himself and immediately knelt back down, cupping your face in his hand and swiping his thumb against the droplet of water you produced. Mike brought that same thumb to his lips, his tongue wrapping around his fingers and his lungs contracting as he sucked the taste of you off himself. You were perfect. And the way you tasted proved that fact tenfold.
I have some thoughts about Movie!Vanessa's behavior on night 4.
Yknow. The night where they build the big pillow fort, foreshadow the springlock suit Abby nearly gets shoved into later. The night where Abby gets electrocuted, and where Vanessa threatens to shoot Mike.
(If anything is wrong here, it's because while I just got back from watching the movie in cinemas again, I can't go scene by scene because I don't have Peacock. And I'm not getting it just for the fnaf movie. Not even sure if Peacock is in Australia?)
I've seen people complain that Vanessa's behavior on this night is too... inconsistent. She goes from suggesting using tables for a giant pillow fort, to telling off Mike for bringing his sister, to consoling Abby after the shock, to threatening to shoot Mike.
But I don't think this is inconsistent. Because there's a common thread in all the scenes where Vanessa's keeping calm.
Abby.
Whenever Abby is there, she plays along with her suggestions, or tries to comfort her when things go wrong.
It's only when Abbys not around or cant notice whats going on, when it's only her and Mike, that Vanessa drops the act and says something real- Don't touch that, it's a springlock suit. You're the one who brought her here. Don't bring her back.
And I think the reason why is just very simple- she doesn't want to scare Abby, because Abby's just a little kid who doesn't have much control over whether they spend the night at Freddys.
If she's scared of a place that she has to stay in (say, because her brother brought her to try and talk to ghost children. And he's outright admitted this to you), and can't leave because. She's like eight and her brother's on the clock- that would be a really fucking cruel thing to do. Abby doesn't have much control over whether she's at Freddys or not. She can cry, or scream. But if Mike doesn't want to go home, she can't either. Not easily.
(At least, as far as either Mike or Vanessa would know at the time. Apparently Abby knows how to catch a taxi with minimal help.)
If you isolate the "playing along" she does with Abby, from how she talks to Mike, the inconsistency goes away.
Just focusing on Mike and Vanessa's dialogue- you can see the tension ramping up slowly. Things starts out okay until the springlock suit. Tension rises. She gets defensive when Mike tries to blame her for not telling him about these dangerous things earlier. (And she has a point- she's not the one who took Abby here.) Tension rises again. Then Abby gets shocked. Vanessa consoles her, but glares at Mike over Abbys shoulder. Next scene is the "If you dare bring her back here, I'll shoot you." Scene. The tension had been going up in a steady diagonal all night, if you understand that Vanessa's putting on an act around Abby.
I don't know what else to say so I guess I'm ending it here. Tldr- Vanessa seems "inconsistent" because she's trying to stay calm around a child. That's why she only really goes off on Mike when their alone together on night 4.
@amberolivia666 asked:
I have a request 🥺
Eddie is best friends with the reader and another girl. The other girl knows about the reader's huge crush on Eddie. One night, Eddie gets drunk, and the reader is taking care of him. You're laying him down on his bed, and he starts drunk mumbling, saying "oh by the way, the other night i had sex with (girls name) on this bed." And he keeps going on with the details. And the reader is just heartbroken.
You could decide if you want a happy ending .
You threw the doors open to Family Video almost ripping it off it’s hinges while putting on your vest and running your fingers through your hair. Steve’s head popped from underneath the counter watching you stomp around until you stood next to him. His eyebrow rose in question on what has gotten you so angry all of sudden. He was too afraid to ask why you chose to almost rip the door like it was on it’s last breath.
You threw your hands up in frustration and annoyance, “ I don’t understand what that girl has that Eddie can’t seem to shut his mouth about.”
You were expecting an answer from Steve who’s yet to stand up from his position and instead be crowded himself in the corner while he stared up at you.
“ Earth to Harrington? Did you hear what I said?” You waved a hand in front of his face thinking he’s too lost in his thought or simply wasn’t listening to you. Steve blinked a couple of times before he stood up and leaned against the other side.
“ I did hear you and I don’t know what you want me to tell you. Tell me again who this is about?” Steve questioned like he had no idea who you were talking about when he kew exactly who it was. It was the girl that Eddie has been hanging out with a lot. It was getting on your nerves and all you seem to hear about how interesting she is or something new each day.
“ You know exactly who, Harrington. Stop jerking around” you mumbled, rolling your eyes. He put his hands up.
“ You know, why don’t you.. I don’t know, stop hanging out with Eddie… you’ve only been hurting yourself. Are you ever going to tell him how you feel?”
Your eyes got wide and you slapped a hand over his mouth like someone else was in the store and has heard you. You looked around to see if Steve had any earlier customers but the place was deserted and it was only the two of you.
He mumbled something into your hand which you didn’t understand. Steve licked your hand and you brought it away from his mouth to wipe it on the polo shirt he’s wearing. He glances down with a deep frown.
“ Thank you for that” he sarcastically says. “ There is no harm on telling him how you feel. What’s the worst that could happen?”
“ Um.. Harrington, you do know he’s my best friend and I might lose him. No, thank you. Where is your head today?”
“ I’m aware about your best friend being Eddie Munson of all people and my head is where it should be.”
“ I don’t know how sometimes I’m friends with you” Steve shook his head as he pouted. The door opened and the both of you turned to greet them when you saw it was only Max and Dustin walking in with Mike and El trialing behind them.
“ Oh it’s just you” Steve mumbled. Dustin stops as he puts his hand on his heart.
“ That was very hurtful Steve” he says. “ I have feelings you know” He adds.
Max rolled her eyes at the two as she smiled over to you. Her smile drops when you don’t return her smile and it looks like something was bothering you.
“ What’s with the face?” She asks, motioning with her hand on her face.
“ She’s pissed off about the girl that Eddie keeps talking about and hanging around with”
“ Oh she’s cool” Dustin says like he didn’t just hear that you were pissed off. If looks could kill, Dustin would be underground by now from the look on your face.
“ She is mad” El says as she looks over to you. “ Why?”
“ Because boys are stupid” Max answers.
“ Don’t worry about it El, Y/N is very sour that she’s not the girl that Eddie wants to hang out with.”
You took the films he stacked on the counter and knocked them on the ground as you stared at him.
“ Clean it up”
“ My tapes!” He shouted throwing his hands up in the air. “ That was uncalled for” he points a finger at you and walks around the counter to pick up the tapes you had dropped on the ground.
“ You know you should tell Eddie how you feel” El suggest. “ It might make you feel better” she adds. You throw her a shrug and shake your head.
“ I don’t want to lose him” she gives you a sympathetic look. “ Hey are you going to Tina’s party that’s happening on Saturday?” Steve asked forgetting he’s been inviting and dreaded going alone.
“ Why?” You ask.
“ Because I don’t want to go alone.”
 “ Why don’t you ask Robin?”
He gives you the look like why didn’t I think of that but he already did.
“ She has a date with Vicky” he says. “ She’s finally got the courage to set something up to surprise her.”
“ At least someone has their balls” Mike mutters. Next thing he knew he was falling to the ground with Max towering over him, she glared at him.
“ Say that again and it will be your fingers I’ll snap”
You were thankful Max was on your side at least for this. But you spoke to soon when she turns her head saying you should tell Eddie how you feel otherwise you might miss a chance.
“ Just think on going with me, will you?” Steve asks. “ I really don’t want to go alone” he says.
Your lips draw in a thin line and he’s well aware that parties aren’t really your thing to go to. You weren’t really a people’s person either. Not the people you went to high school with and not the people you saw at parties.
“ They are stupid” you muttered. “ I’m sure you’ll find some girl there to charm and then you’ll leave me, all alone” Steve shakes his head.
“ Eddie will be there” he says. He was probably going to be there to sell to make some money. He wasn’t very much of a partier either.
“ Are you picking him up too, or is he meeting you there?”
“ He’s going to drive over there. There is no way he’s coming inside of my car” Steve says.
“ Will you pick me up, then?” Steve’s eyes got wide at your question and a smile appears on his face when he takes notices that your agreeing to go to the party with him. He slide over the counter but it was more like rolling to the ground.
The rest chuckle at this.
He quickly got up, fixing the vest and looks around.
“ No one saw anything” he says. Max smirked.
“ We saw everything” she says while Steve walks over to you and picks you up, twirling you around. Your feet hit the films on the shelf which he doesn’t take notice after the second twirl.
“ Awe man, come on! I just put those up this morning” he puts you down and groans.
“ Your own fault, Harrington” you muttered fixing your shirt. You hadn’t noticed the others have left during this leaving you alone with Steve.
“ Where did they go?” You looked around trying to see if they were playing hide and seek or something which was weird. Steve shrugs and looks over his shoulder.
“ It’s been awhile since you’ve been to party. Do you know what your going to wear?”
“ Don’t worry about what I’m going to wear, Harrington. I think you should be more worried about if you’ll go home with a girl” he glare over to you when he shoots back a you.
“ Oh? What about you and Eddie?”
Your eyes squint at him not knowing where he was doing with this.
“ What about it?” You asked.
“ You’re not going to tell him?” You shook your head.
“ Are you joking, Harrington? I’m sure there will other girls that would be more happy to go home with him than me. I mean, I’m not really pretty” you motion to yourself and Steve shoots you a look.
“ What? I am”
He shakes his head.
“ You’re pretty. Eddie is just blind to see it”
“ Is that suppose to make me feel better?”
“ Look I’m trying here!” He shouts throwing his hands up. “ You’re my friend and I would hate to see you get hurt by him. He’s dumb.”
The door opened and Keith walked through the door staring down the two of you.
“ We were stacking these” Steve says motioning to the shelf. Keith says something and walks to the back while you look at Steve.
“ Oh shut it, go put these in another section” he hands you a box of fills that were by his feet. The rest of the week went by quicker than you thought and it was Saturday. The party was happening tonight and you were dreading on going. Not because you were going to be around people you didn’t like.
But you were kinda scared seeing Eddie with another girl.
You were looking into your closet what you would wear to the party, throwing clothes left and right and creating a pile all over your room. Your anxiety was making fun of you because you started to question what if you chose the wrong outfit or what if you chose something that shown too much skin.
Your mind was racing with too many thoughts. You didn’t even know your bedroom door opened and Steve walked in. His eyes fallen on the sight of your room.
“ It looked like a tornado hit here” you jumped at the sound of his voice, throwing a shirt into his direction that was on the hanger. He catches in his hands and raises his eyebrows on what just happened.
“ You scared me, warn a girl” he pointed behind him to the door.
“ I have knocked and told you it’s me walking in” he says.
“ Be louder next time, Harrington” he sets the shirt he had in his hands on the chair while making his way to the chair in your room that didn’t have clothes on and sits down.
“ Let me guess, you want to look pretty to catch Eddie’s eye?” You cast him a look going back into the closest looking at the colors you had and the dresses. You were thinking on a skirt but you felt self conscious of your legs.
“ Should I wear a dress?” In your hands you held up two dresses and turn to Steve who had his arms across his chest as he looked between the two of you.
“ You wear what your comfortable in” you groan, throwing your head back.
“ You’re not helping, Harrington. Pick one” he hummed putting a finger to his chin while he thought on it. You sighed seeing the was taking his precious time in deciding.
“ You know what, your not any help at all. Maybe I shouldn’t go to the party” Steve stood u from the chair and walked around your room were he looked at your clothes and picked up a shirt for you to wear and a skirt that looked cute too to go with the shirt.
He hands you the outfit and turns you around pushing you into the bathroom.
“ Go get change, you are dramatic as Eddie. No wonder you like him so much” he mutters underneath his breathe.
“ I heard that!” You shouted from the closed bathroom. “ You were meant too, now hurry up” he says through the door. You mutter underneath your breath how he was being annoying as you changed into the outfit he has chosen for you and surprisingly it looked really cute.
Your heart raced at the thought of Eddie looking over at you and noticing you. It’s not like he didn’t notice you but you wanted him to come up to you and tell you how pretty you look.
He has never told you.
You opened the door and stepped out.
“ Well?” You did a twirl. Steve’s mouth hung open as he stared at the sight of you. You were really pretty like he always told you. “ Munson is missing out” Steve says and stood up from the chair he was sitting again in making his way to the door. In his hands he had his keys.
“ Ready?” You nodded, slipping on your shoes and following him out there door to his car. The party had many people you knew and didn’t know. Your eyes scanned the familiar faces. Those familiar faces turned to look at you, eyeing your chosen outfit and giving you a whistle.
Steve’s hand was on your shoulder leading you through the crowd.
“ I need a drink” you shouted to him through the loud music and scrunched your nose at the many popped around. This wasn’t really your scene.
You spotted the back of mane of curls and the Dio vest. Steve nudged your side as he motioned his head towards where Eddie stood. It looks like he was making a sale as he talked to the other girl. The two exchanged something while your eyes watched Eddie’s hair bounces as he looked around after making the sale.
Those brown doe eyes happen to fall on you and a smile spreads on his face. His eyes move to the person next to you, Steve and his smile drops. There is a hint of change in his eye as his jaw clenches.
“ Look there is your best friend” Steve mutters to you. To Eddie, it looked very different. He thought you came with Steve to the party and the two of you were flirting. He gripped his lunch box in his hands, tightly and vanished through the crowd. He wasn’t going to stand there and watch you flirt with Harrington.
He never really thought someone like him would be a match for you. He thought Steve Harrington would be more your style since Steve could spoil you more than he could. Eddie was your best friend.
You frown losing Eddie in the crowd thinking he went to do another sale.
“ Do you think he’s avoiding me?” You asked Steve who was too busy looking around the crowd in hoping to catch girls eye. He didn’t hear you which caused you to frown. You left him standing there making your way into the kitchen looking at the various drinks laid out and a stack of red cups for you to take.
Your hand reaches for a cup when another hand beats you to it. Your heart races seeing the ring clad hand and your eyes raise to meet the face of your best friend once again. He doesn’t have a smile on his face or any kind of look for that matter.
“ Sorry” you mouth to him through the loud music. He makes his way around the counter where he stands next to you. His arm brushing against yours and you swore you felt electricity from that brief touch.
“ I’ll make you a drink” he shouts through the loudness of the music, which isn’t his taste but he’s more here to make some money. He was surprised to see you here though. He knows your not a party person.
“ Surprised your here” he says starting a conversation as he makes your drink. His hair shield his face where you don’t see the look on his face and you badly wanted to reach out to move the hair away from his face.
“ I wanted to give it a try” your voice speak out for the first time seeing him after a week. He nods and hands you the drink he’s made for you.
“ You’ll like it, I promise you” he says. Your hand brushes his own causing you to gasp. You grabbed onto the cup and quickly draw it to your chest like his touch has burned you.
“ Thank you” he nods and leans with his back at the counter with his hands on either side.
“ So, Harrington? Huh?” He looks around the party, a deep frown on his face as he stands there still talking to you but avoiding eye contact.
“ Harrington, what?” You were confused on what Eddie was on about.
“ You like him or something?” Eddie didn’t want to look at you. He was too afraid to look to find out if you liked Steve. If you did, then it would break him and he didn’t know how to handle it.
“ Steve Harrington?” Your eyebrows knit together with a small chuckle leaving you. Eddie turns his head at the sound with his eyebrow knitted together in confusion on why you were laughing.
“ I don’t like Steve, he’s my friend” Eddie tilts his head to the side but nods. He’s not really convinced you don’t like Steve. Every girl seem to like a guy like Steve Harrington.
Your eyes don’t miss the girl that walks by who waves her hand over to Eddie as she calls to him. His head snaps over hearing his name being called, a smile appears on his face as he waves back at her.
“ Who’s that?” You asked, never really seeing the girl before. She looked to be new.
Eddie turns his head seeing the look on your face. He blinked twice to see if the look he saw was real. Jealousy. That’s what he saw. He blinked again and the look on your face was gone.
“ She’s my friend” he shrugged. “ Met her at the Hide Out. She came to watch us play” He adds. Your heart sinks knowing now you weren’t the only girl to watch his band play. Something in the air between you and Eddie felt different and you hated it.
“ Do you like her?” The question came from you suddenly catching Eddie off guard. His eyes scanned your face before he answered.
“ No” he shook his head. “ I like someone else” He adds. His eyes your reaction as he says it but to only to have you look away. Your eyes fall down to the drink in your hand finding the color of the drink more interesting than his face.
“ That’s cool” you nod feeling your heart sink to your stomach. “ I’m going to go dance” you add wanting to get away from his area, from him, you wanted to cry. But you took another drink from your drink slipping through the crowd leaving Eddie on his own.
His lips form a deep frown watching you walk away. What was that all about? He shrugged it off hearing his name being called.
Meanwhile, you were looking around the dancing face, scrunching seeing the sloppy making out sessions some of them were having while others were groping each other. You leaned your back against the wall when a voice catches your attention.
“ Well, Well, Well, if it isn’t the nerd” Jason’s voice calls to you as he stands next to you.
“ Go away, Carver” you rolled your eyes at the sight of him. “ You look lost” you add. He laughs.
“ So the nerd does talk” he looks you up and down as he sways. “ How about I teach you a few things?” He licks his lips as his arms falls to the wall next to you as he peers down at you. Your nose scrunches up smelling the alcohol on him.
“ Where is Chrissy?” You asked. “ Your little cheerleader broke your heart or something?” Justin frowned at the mention of her. His silence was giving you an answer.
“ You piss her off or something? “ He sighs as he leans next to you on the wall.
“ We had a big disagreement and told me to go cool off” he mumbles.
“ Poor you” Steve makes his way over to you seeing Jason talking to you.
“ Is he bothering you?” He asked, standing in the space between you and Jason as he glares over at him. Jason chuckles at the sight of Steve, and looks behind him at you.
“ Is this your dog?” He asks. Steve notices that Jason is drunk and grabs onto your wrist, puling you into the kitchen where he turns to ask if you were okay.
“ He didn’t hurt you or anything?” You shook your head. The red cup in your hands you left near the table where Jason stood. You didn’t want to drink anymore. You were feeling out of place at the party.
“ Can you take me home?” You asked. Steve was about to answer when the girl from earlier that you saw waved at Eddie walks over to you. She looks worried from the looks of it.
“ Are you, uh… Y/N?” She asks, looking you over. Eddie had given her a description on what you look like and the outfit you were wearing and from the look of it. She had found you.
“ Yes, did you need something?”
She nods, pointing behind her.
“ Eddie is in the bathroom asking for you. I believe he had more than a few to drink and I think it’s best if he goes home. I’ve tried and he’s only pushed me away.”
You look at Steve as he says he’s going to go start the car. He didn’t drink.
“ Thanks, I’ll take it from here” she nods averting her eyes for a moment feeling like she wanted to say something else but says nothing as you slip past her making your way to the stairs. There was a couple of the stairs making out.
“ Excuse me?” You shouted trying to move past them but they didn’t hear you. Your hand reached out to tug on the guys jacket who pulled away shooting you a glare.
“ Move!” You shouted into his face. He moves mumbling “ bitch” underneath his breath and takes the girls hand as the two walk downstairs into the living room while you head upstairs to find Eddie. You knock on the first three doors but they only have been bedrooms before you found the right door. Eddie was leaning against the bath tub with his head back while e had a bottle besides him that he’s been drinking from.
“ Eds?” The sound of your voice and the closed door catches him off guard. His head moves and his eyes land on you where his eyebrows knit together.
“ Is that you Y/N?” He slurs, moving to sit up but he groans and lifts up he bottle to take another drink from it when your hand stops him. “ I think you had enough for tonight. How about we get you home?”
“ I don’t want to go home” he says slurring looking up at you with a dopy smile on his face. “ You’re so pretty” he adds. “ such a pretty flower.”
Your cheeks flush from the comment and leans down to move the hair away from his face. “ Come on, drunky. Let’s get you home and into bed.”
“ Bed” he hums, “ sounds nice.”
“ Can you stand up, Eds?” He groans something and uses the bath tub with one hand to stand up. He’s wobbly on his feet and almost falls on top of you. “ Woah there, sleep will do you some good.”
You mange to help him out of the bathroom where he stumbles into some people when he gets outside.
“ Sorry!” You shout helping him down the steps.
“ They look funny” he slurs, chuckling as he points. “ They have circles. Are you a circle too?” He asks. You were holding in your own laughter, taking one step at a time. The door to the house opened and Steve steps in looking around for you.
“ Harrington!” Eddie shouts. Steve looks up watching as you were trying to help Eddie down the stairs. “ Oh Jesus” Steve mutters making his way up the stairs and helping you with Eddie down the steps.
“ Did you know Y/N is a circle? Does that make you a square, Harrington? What am I, then? A triangle? I am defiantly a triangle. I mean look at me, it screams triangle” Eddie kept muttering to himself while you and Steve were carrying him down the steps to the car.
“ Do you think I could be a star one day? They are so pretty and bright and they are free” Eddie continues. Steve opens the back door of his car while you push Eddie inside.
“ Hey, if you wanted me to be rough, sweetheart. You should of told me” Eddie says as he leans up on the seat putting his head behind your seat. You got into the passenger side looking at Eddie.
“ What kind of sandwich do you think I could be? What color do you think I could be? I would be black because that’s metal. You know? Peanut butter sandwiches are nice, I could give to flavor too. You know?”
Steve looks at you while he drive while Eddie continues to question what he would be like as an animal, a treat, a plant etc. It went on like that until Steve drove to the trailer. You never seen his side of Eddie before.
You didn’t know weather to laugh or comment on his questions. You sat in silence hearing what he talked about. He did have a lot to drink but why?
Once you reached the trailer, you turned to Steve thanking him while Eddie looked between the two of you.
“ Are you not going to kiss him, goodnight? What kind of person are you? Don’t be a meanie” Eddie says. You look at Eddie with a look and looked at Steve who looks amused.
“ I have one better” you tell Eddie. Eddie watches with wonder eyes and laughs when you flick Steve in the forehead. Eddie leans back into the backseat clutching his stomach while he laughs.
“ Alright time to go home, drunky” you slip out of Steve’s car as he helps you get Eddie into his bed. “ Will you be okay?” Steve asks, looking down at Eddie who’s laying on his bed with his hands over his head staring at the two of you.
“ Yeah, I’ll be fine” you muttered. “ Thank you, you know for the ride and this” he nods telling you to call him if anything. Steve leaves, leaving you with Eddie who’s happily wiggling his eyebrows at you like something is about to happen.
“ Oh, Eddie. What am I going to do with you?”
His eyebrows knit together in the question.
“ Love me” he says with his hands out making grabby motions with his hands. He was still dressed in his clothes.
“ Why don’t we get you out of your clothes and into something more comfortable? How does that sound?” He nods happily listening to you and sits up with a groan.
He watches as you take out some pajamas out of his top dressers while he leans down to take off his shoes and nudges them off with his feet. He lays back down on the bed working on his handcuff belt but doesn’t seem to get it off as he can’t.
“ Help” he says his hips are thrust up as he struggles to get his pants off. You turn around seeing the trouble look on his face and the little pout he has. When he sees you have not came over to help, he kicks his feet on the bed and whines.
“ Help” he says, trying again. “ Please” he adds. He was adorable even when he was drunk.You make your way over to him and help him take down his pants, cheeks were lighting up red having to undress him. Your eyes peek at his tummy trail that looks delicious to leave kisses on. But you bite your lips watching him slip his shirt off and turn around after handing him his pajamas. Your face was bright red and when he giggled telling you to turn around seeing him in bed with his brown doe eyes staring up at you.
“ Stay” he says patting the space next to him. You couldn’t help but look at how cute he looks right now. You couldn’t not stay with him, you were going to anyways until he was sober up.
“ Let me get you some water and ibuprofen and I’ll be back” Eddie huffs putting his arms across his chest having to wait for you but doesn’t say anything. You make your way into the kitchen searching around.
“ Y/N! Y/N! Y/N!” Eddie kept shouting your name from the bedroom being impatient meanwhile you told him you’d be back. Once you found what you were looking for, you walk back to find him curled up on his side with his hair over his cheeks, some strands in his eyes too.
“ Hi” He says happily once he sees that your back. “ I want to talk to you about something” he adds. You slip off your shoes and crawling into bed with him while he scooted back to give you some room.
“ What is it?” He giggled hiding his face into the pillow. His cheeks were red.
“ You know the girl that waved to me at the party?” You nod, not sure where he was going with this. “ We had sex on this very bed, last week!” He shouts, slapping his hand on the mattress with a giggle. Your smile drops from your face and your heart sinks to your stomach.
This wasn’t something you wanted to hear from him or talk about.
“ She would make all these noises and guess what, I’ve made her squirt! Squirt! I never done that to a girl, you know?” He says. He doesn’t look at your face. Your eyes were becoming glossy. He thought you were listening to to him.
“ She has even left her marks, look I think one of them is still there” he says looking down at his chest searching for it. It was very small when he finds it and points to it with his finger.
“ Look, it’s so small” he says looking at up you. “ Are you looking, Y/N?”
“I’m looking” you wren’t really looking. You were staring at his bat tattoo instead of the make. It was hurting too much that he’s talking about the girl he had sex with. Why now?
Does he know you like him?
“ She scratched me up pretty good too know and she made me cum more than twice! I think it was three… wait.. no four… was it four?” He asked, laying down on the bed. There  was a sudden change in color on his face and he shot up in bed, covering his mouth.
“ I think I’m going to be sick” he says racing to the bathroom where you found him hurling into the toilet. You took the rubber band off your wrist and wrapped his hair up in a pony tail while you rubbed his back.
There were tears rolling down your cheeks from listening in what he told you before he races to the bathroom. You had a lump in your throat that was very hard to swallow.
Eddie flushes the toiled and you helped him up as he stood by the sink, gripping it with his hands.
“ I’m never drinking again” he says taking his toothbrush and putting some toothpaste on it. You helped him steady it as he brushed his teeth. He has yet to notice the tears rolling down your cheeks and how heart broken you look. The silence finally hits him as he takes notice you haven’t had said a word. His eyes meet yours in the mirror.
“ You’re crying” he says. His eyebrow knit together. “ Did something happen?” You shook your head with a hand on his back. “ Let’s get you to bed. You need sleep.”
Eddie follows you to bed where you help him in. He watches your every movement and you start to head to the door when you shut off his lights.
“ Stay” he says. The sound of his voice has your heart breaking even more. But you can’t handle being around him right now. No matter how much you care about him and how much you love him.
“ I’ll be on the couch” Eddie doesn’t say anything anymore but he looks as you close his door and hear the sound of your footsteps making their way to the living room. He hears the small plump of you sitting down on the couch. He rolls over on his back as sleep takes over him.
The next morning when he wakes up. He has a pounding heading and reaches over on his beside table for the ibuprofen and the water bottle that you had left there for it. He yawns as he stretches and stands up from his bed making his way into the living room. His eyes don’t catch you sleeping on the couch in the morning, it’s only the sight of Wayne that he sees there.
He looks around his kitchen seeing no note or nothing from you. His brain races knowing last night you were there helping him. There are bits and pieces that he’s remembering but no all of it. He turns around heading to the bathroom for a shower. He’s going to call you later.
When Eddie calls you later, the phone rings and rings and your not picking up. You stare at in your bedroom as it does. You know it’s him but you don’t want listen to him. You heard enough yesterday. The person he likes, it’s not you. It’s her. You felt really stupid for falling for your best friend when you weren’t even a choice to him.
You thought things would be different with him.
You’ve been really quiet at school too, not really answering question and sitting away from Eddie. Not defending him against Jason. The Hellfire table felt empty without you. You spend your lunch period in the library catching on studying. At work you don’t speak to Robin or Steve either.
You aren’t yourself and everyone can see that.
The drama room opened and Robin stepped in with Steve trialing behind her.
“ Robin?” Dustin asked.
“ Alright, dingus” she looks at Eddie sitting on his throne looking at her confused on why she’s here. “ What did you do? Because if you haven’t noticed one of our best friends, the person you seem to fawn over has stopped communicating with all of us. I want to know what you’ve done and you better stop talking or I’ll throw your ass across this room..” She glared down at Eddie.
Eddie looks at her wide eyed.
“ We don’t know what he did either. None of us do”
“ She was last seen with you, we took you back to your trailer from the party. What did you do?” Steve asks this time. He leans his hands on the table as he glares at Eddie.
“ Talk now” Steve demands, slamming his hand on top of the table.
“ I don’t know what I did! She won’t talk to me either!” Eddie shouted standing up from his throne.
“ Think Eddie, what did you say to her last?” Jeff says.
Eddie stands there looking around his friends as they all look at him for answers which he doesn’t know. His brain races at the last time he saw you. You were crying at something. He remembers telling you about the girl he slept with too.
“ I told her about the girl I slept with…” he says. Robin’s eyes are wide and Steves too.
“ You’re an idiot, Munson” Steve says.
“ What do you mean?” Eddie asks, his eyebrows knitted together as his chest feels like someone is clenching it.
“ she’s in love with you, dammit! How stupid can you be!?!” Dustin shouted as he stood up from his seat. “ Are you that much of an idiot to notice she hasn’t dated anyone and spend all of her time with you?” Mike asks.
“ You’re all she talks about” Steve tells him. Eddie’s eyes grow wide and his mouth feels dry. He had to talk to you.
“I’ve got to go!” He shouts.
But, when he gets to your house, your mom answers the door.
“ Is Y/N home?” Your mom shakes her head.
“ She went to take some time off visiting her grandparents. She wasn’t doing so good, the school agreed she needed some time too. I’m sorry, Eddie” his heart sank knowing he was too late.
“ Would you tell her I’ve stopped by if you talk to her?” Your mom nods. “ Take care” your mom tells him as she closes the door. Eddie walks back to his van with his head hang knowing he has hurt you to cause you to go away.
You didn’t want to see him and he would wait for you to come back.
Jessica and I have been practicing outside, Angela taking pictures. Only practicing since Jessica has nagged me for the past few days now. Trying to spike on me every time we do so. Eric was studying the prom fliers, “Monte Carlo? That’s our theme?” Jessica frowns at the lame theme that was chosen for this year. “Gambling, tuxedos and Bond. James- Ow!” She threw a ball roughly at Eric’s face, I smirk.
“Oh. My. God.” Angela exclaims, who was once scanning to take more pictures is now frozen in place. We follow to where she was staring and it was just my sister and Edward showing up to school together. I hadn’t really been speaking to Alice and Jasper after the night with their family. Overhearing that it was destined for me to have a near death experience just for me to know who I was in my past lives and they knew it was going to happen. It also works because I hate attention, something I know Bella hates too.
Throughout the rest of the day Jasper and Alice would stare at me, trying to pull me aside to talk to me only for me to ignore them and hurry off to a different area or sit somewhere else if we shared a class. But at the end of the day it was a waste when Alice came up to me, taking my hand in hers. “Hey, what’s going on lovebug?” I gave her a look for the stupid nickname and she laughs. “Sorry, but seriously why are you avoiding us?” She pouts, I lick my lips getting ready to actually say it but then something stops me once I lock eyes with her.
“I needed some time to think about us.” I tell her, “I’m having a hard time with everything, trying to understand and I overwhelmed myself at your place I felt embarrassed.” I lied, I was fine with the whole vampire thing surprisingly. That’s not what bothered me. What bothered me was the fact that she knows I’m going to have a near death experience and won’t even warn me. I don’t understand how that’s protecting me. Maybe I’ll bring it up later.
“Ah, that makes sense. I’m sorry it’s so overwhelming for you, my lovebug.” She moves my hair behind my ear sending shivers down my spine. It honestly made me forget how many people were around, until we get shouted at. “What the fuck?” A guy yelled, I step away from Alice and we turn to see some guy I don’t think I’ve ever seen before in school. “You guys gay or some shit?” He laughs, my eyebrows furrow as Alice glares at him.
“Y’all should kiss!” His friends hit him in the shoulders like he did something with that. I glance over and see Jasper staring at the scene as well. “Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!” The three guys all laugh, I flick them off and they just laugh harder.
“I need to go, my dad made plans. Just um, come over later.” I tell her, walking away to my bike, getting my helmet on and riding off as quick as possible due to the embarrassment I just had to endure. I ended up coming to the cafe later than Bella which meant I was super late.
There were a group of basketball players outside and I mentally cursed seeing Mike there as well. “[Name]! I didn’t know you were a lesbo!” One of the guys shouted at me and my eyes widen but I try to ignore it, heading towards the door but he blocks it. “Does her man know?” His arm was on the door and he leaned on it. I stare up at him not saying anything. “What?” You got something to say?” He asks, I take my helmet off, putting it on the ground, staring back up at him. I take a deep breath. “I asked you something.” He repeats, I take a step back. In the corner of my eye I see my dad stand up from his spot in the booth. Bella seemed alarmed. “Come on, man. She don’t deserve this plus her dad’s the chief.” Mike puts a hand on his shoulder but the guy doesn’t back up. I dip my hand into my front pocket of my jeans.
“Does your dad know you like-” I take my hand out and spray him with the pepper spray Charlie gave me. He stumbles back holding his eyes and screaming in pain. The cafe door swings open. What happened!?” He angrily asks, “Nothing, sir. He went too far, he was antagonizing her.” Mike blurts out, the kid groans outloud but the group pushes him away. Charlie turns to look at me. “What the hell was that, [Name]?” He grabbed onto my arms as I try my hardest to look away from him. “[Name] Swan, answer me right now.”
“I don’t want to talk about it!” I exclaim, tears welling in my eyes. “Please.”
His grip loosens, his gaze softening as well. “Are you okay at least?”
“I’m fine.” I sniffle, wiping my eyes, he lets me go and grabs my helmet for me. “I should wash my hands.” I lift up my hand that’s covered in the pepper spray, I didn’t wipe my eyes with this hand don’t worry. He sighs, shaking his head, pushing me inside. Cora the waitress who knows about my whole life from dad places a hand on my back. “You alright, sweetheart.” I just nod, heading straight for the bathroom to wash my hands quickly then going back to the booth with my sister and dad.
The dinner ends up being a little awkward as they talk to each other but treat me like they need to walk on egg shells. I forced myself to eat so I don’t have to talk much so I just listen to them.
After getting home I rush straight to my room where they were already standing, I shut the door, locking it right away and collapsing on my bed. Wanting to just sob and go to sleep but I know I should talk to them. Definitely not about what I heard though, I’m already exhausted from pepper spraying a basketball player. Alice sits behind me, motioning for me to lay on her. I end up just putting my head on her lap and she plays with my hair.
I stare up at Jasper, he steps closer, wiping my cheek that had a tear fall. I noticed how his face seemed stiffer than normal. I then remembered how it hurts him to be around people still. His thirst stronger than the others.
“I saw what happened, I’m sorry we didn’t stop it.” Alice apologizes, I look up at her and she seemes extremely beat up over it. I place my hand on top of hers. “It’s okay, don’t worry.” I attempt to assure her. She smiles gently. “I won’t go near you at school anymore. You don’t deserve to go through that.” She tells me, I sit up from her lap. “What? No, let them talk.” I grab her hand tighter even though I know she barely feels it. “But-”
“I know how I am with attention but I don’t care anymore. Plus I have my pepper spray.” I wink and they both laugh quietly. “Are you sure, darling?” Jasper questions, I pull him closer to me, having him actually sit down now. “Of course, let them talk. What else are they going to do?” I shrug, Alice stands up, going over and sitting on my lap. “If that’s what you want.” She kisses my nose softly. I nod, “It is.”
We then sit there silently and I think about my thoughts from before. I know I’m not going to bring it up to them but I want to so badly understand their thinking. Understand why they do what they do.
“You’re anxious.” Jasper states, I suck on the inside of my cheek not respnding. “Why?” Alice questions. “Just wondering about how that would play out.” I lie, well partially.
“Mmm, it will be okay. We’ll be there. Also, we want to take you somewhere tomorrow. Edward will be picking you and Bella up.” She stands up from my lap, she takes Jasper’s hand but I stop both of them from leaving.
“Wait, I want to um.. I want to try something.” I tell them, getting up from my bed, first taking Alice’s face in the palm of my hands. She smiles, automatically knowing what I’m doing she closes her eyes. I lean slowly, my heart racing as I kiss her lips longer than a few seconds. I push away after a little bit, we both look up to see Jasper watching and I chuckle, pulling him towards me and doing the same thing.
“I’ll see you both tomorrow.” I wave them off and not even seconds later they’re gone.
A few hours later my mom ends up calling me, I pick it up lazily knowing that either Bella or Charlie had told her what happened. I hear loud noises in the background fading away. “[Name]!” it was my moms voice yelling, I jolted away from my own hand then go back to it. “Yes, mom?” I ask, “I heard you pepper sprayed someone! What did he do?” She says, I throw my head back annoyed.
“Mom, I’m fine.” I tell her but I knew she wouldn’t be satisfied with that answer. “[Name]” She warns me. “Mom, please.” I nervously say. “I will have your father investigate what happened if you do not tell me right now.” Of course she pulls that out, “You don’t have to do that.” I tell her.
“It was just a guy calling me a lesbo or whatever. No biggie.” I quickly say, this happened before in Arizona, I’ve been called names my whole life. Especially for not liking guys and never having a boyfriend. “If it’s no biggie why’d you punch?” She interrogates me, I roll my eyes like before. “I was cornered.” That wasn’t a lie necessarily. She hums, still not satisfied. “Who’s the girl, [Name].” She says and it felt like my eyes pop out of my socket. “Mom!”
“Oh, come on [Name]. I know my daughter.” She laughs, “Who is she?” She repeats herself and I sigh. “Her name is Alice.” She squeals in laughter. “Mom!” I whine for her to stop. “I’m sorry! I’m just happy you found someone.” She tells me. “Well, actually it’s her and her boyfriend.” I bite my lip waiting for judgement.
“Hey, I can’t judge your lifestyle. Two people?” She excitedly laughs and I shake my head. “Please don’t tell anyone. No one knows except Bella and that’s because they’re also apart of the Cullen family.” I sigh, picking at my finger nails. “Woww I need to see what these people look like if both of my daughters decided to date them.” She jokes, I smile to myself just happy she’s not upset with my dating life even though I know it is definitely out of the ordinary.
“Well, I should get going to bed mom. I love you.” I say, “Oh, I love you too, goodnight!” She blows kisses over the phone and i press the button to hang up. Finally laying down for the night and going to bed.
The next day I was sitting with Charlie as Bella came into the room. Charlie is currently cleaning his rifle, he goes to greet her but she cuts him off. “I have a date with Edward Cullen. [Name] does too with his foster brother.” She announcses and I quietly laugh at his facial expression as he glances between the both of us. “They’re too old for you two.” He responds. “We’re both juniors plus Jasper is only a Senior. Also I thought you liked the Cullens.” She says, I tilt my head agreeing with her. “And I thought you weren’t interested in any of the boys in town.” Charlie brings up, she seems frustrated. “Edward doesn’t live in town and its in the early stage- and whatever he’s outside right now.” This even causes me to stop every movement I was making like my dad just did. “Now? He’s out there?”
“He wants to meet you. Officially.” She tells him. “Good.” Charlie cocks his rifle. I snicker, earning a look from her. “Be nice, okay? He’s important.” He nods reassuring her, she goes to the door and opens it to reveal her new boyfriend. “Cheif Swan I wanted to formally introduce myself. I’m Edward.” He extends his hand and Charlie hesitantly takes it grunting a small hello. “I won’t keep the two out late tonight. We’re just going to play baseball with my family.” He informs him also informing us because we had no idea either. “Bella’s going to play baseball?” Charlie is shocked, definitely because Bella doesn’t play sports. “Yes sir, that’s the plan.” He nods. “Well, more power to you I guess.”
“They’ll be safe with my family, I promise.” Edward makes eye contact with him to show him he was being serious. He exits and as I get up Charlie holts both of us from following. “You both got that pepper spray- [Name] I know you do.” I laugh at his words. “Dad.” Bella shakes her head, we then both leave and climb into this massive jeep. “Your father thinks you should go to an all-girls school.” Edward says to Bella in an amused tone.
“No fair, reading Charlie’s mind.” I sat in the backseat and I notice the baseball cap the same time as Bella. “And since when do vampires like baseball?”
I mentally cringed to that question. “It’s the American past time. Plus, there’s a thunderstorm coming. It’s the only time we can play. You’ll see why.” He explains and now I’m perked up at the thought of seeing my two play. Watch them in action of a sport I actually really enjoy.
We finally get through the clearing of woods, it was a field and there were storm clouds erupting in the sky. The jeep comes to a stop, Esme and Emmett come over to greet us, Emmett helping me down. I look around for Jasper and Alice, “Good thing you’re here. We need some umpires.” Esme smiles sweetly. Emmett has a wicked grin caused by her words. “She thinks we cheat.” He laughs. “I know you cheat.” She turns to both of us. “Call em how you see em girls.” She pats us. I see Alice on the pitchers mound and she gives me a quick wave before speaking up. “It’s time!” Right then a rumble of thunder shakes and I grip onto Bella excitedly. We both stand right by Esme who’s the catcher. Alie pitches and Rosalie smashes the ball with an aluminum bat. It cracks loudly right when a thunder hits at the same time. “Now I get why you need thunder.” My sister says. The ball goes right into the forest, Edward running after it.
“That has to be a home run.” Bella insists as we wait. “Edward’s very fast.” Was all she said in return. Rosalie darts around the bases, it looks like a blur but Edward rasces out with the ball whipping to home plate. Esme catches it milliseconds before Rosalie slides in.
“You’re out?” Bella says questioning herself and I sadly nod as I was kind of rooting for Rosalie. Esme nods too. Next up is Carlisle and he hits a line drive, Emmett and Edward race for it, colliding with one another with so much force it felt like I could feel it all in the ground like a mini earthquake. They end up missing the ball anyway, Carlisle is safe. I cheer for him, everyone smiles, almost.
Jasper is up and I watch him and Alice make eye contact and I fall in awe. Jasper whacks the ball into the forest like Rosalie just did. Before they can go after it Alice gasps and they all come to a stop. “Stop! I didn’t see them!” She shouts, Jasper pulling me behind him, Rosalie coming to my side as well. “They’re traveling so quickly.” Alice says in a worried tone.
“You said they left the country.” Rosalie exclaims. “They did but then they heard us.” Alice looks at Edward. “And changed their minds.” Edward turns to Bella. “Put your hair down.”
Alice races over, shoving a hat onto my head. “They smell you too.” She sadly says and I raise an eyebrow. I thought no one was effected by my blood?
“Like that will help. I could smell her across the field.” Edward ignores Rosalie as he arranges Bella’s hair a certain way. “I shoudn’t have brought you here. I’m so sorry.” Edward says to Bella specifically. They all turn towards the forest and there’s three vampires that emerge out. I look down to their bare feet then back up to their dark red eyes. The one with darker skin and long hair lifts his hand up to show the baseball. “I believe this belongs to you.” He tosses the ball to Carlisle who catches it with ease. He smiles politely. “Thank you.”
“Could you use three more players?” He questions. “Of course.” Carlisle nods. “I’m Laurent, this is Victoria and James.” He introduces them.
“Would you like to bat first?” Carlisle asks, Laurent ends up with the bat.  I stand with Edward and Rosalie with my sister near the jeep. I watch Edwards eyes lock with James. “I’m afraid your hunting activities have caused something of a mess for us.” Carlisle says.
“Our apologies. We didn’t realize the territory had been claimed.” Laurent responds and to be frank he seemed nice and genuine but the other two… I don’t know. “Yes, we maintain a permanent residence.” The three have a shared look of surprise from his words.
“Really? Well we won’t be a problem anymore.” Laurant quickly tells everyone. “The humans were tracking us but we led them east.” The Victoria girl says just as Jasper pitches the ball, Laurent slams it but Alice is already up in a tree in a flash, she catches the ball with a thwap sound as it met her hand. Laurent looked pissed as James smiles, obviously glad he met worthy opponents.
James is next and it was like a power slam, he runs past first base then Edward, then us two, then wind moves Bella’s hair and before I even realize it James comes to a complete stop. His head whips around to Bella and I, his nostrils flare. “You brought some snacks.” Alice rushes over to me, clinging onto my arm as Jasper was now in front of me beside Edward.
The Cullens now all in a position. “The girls are with us.” Carlisle says, “We won’t harm them” Laurent reassures him, trying to diffuse the situation. “Just try it.” Emmett says, practically looking for a fight.
“I think it’s best you leave.” Carlisle says, Rosalie puts her hand on Emmett to calm him down. “Yes, I can see the game is over. We’ll go now.” He says, turning to walk away but looks back. “James.” His hand goes onto the guys shoulder finally getting him to walk away.
Once they’re gone Esme collects the bats. “Get them out of here. We’ll follow them.” Carlisle says, running off with Jasper and Rosalie towards the other three. Edward scoops up Bella as Alice rushes me to the jeep. Both of them strap us in like little kids. “James is a tracker. I saw his mind. The hunt is his obsession and my reaction set him off.” The two get in and Edward whips the jeep around. As Edward explains things to Bella I look at Alice. “How come my scent effects him?” I whisper to her. “I don’t know, I think it’s like Edward said he’s a hunter.” She sits by me and holds me close to her.
“The first place he’ll go is your house. He’ll track your scent from there.” Edward says and I jump up as Bella looks horrified. “What?! Charlie’s there, he’s in danger because of me! Because of us!” She shouts and I start breathing heavily, Alice take my hand and tries to soothe me. “Then we’ll lead the tracker away from him somehow.” He calmly replies and I just knew it was to calm Bella down but it’s not working.
Bella bursts into the house as I sit outside. “I said leave me alone!” Bella yells. “Bella don’t do this. Just think about it please.” Edward pleads and if i didn’t know what was happening I would’ve believed this. “Get out it’s over.” She slams the door and I end up going in a few seconds later. “Bella? What happened?” Charlie asks, his face full of worry. “I have to get out of this place. Out of Forks. I’m leaving and so is [Name].” Bella runs up the stairs, Charlie follows her. My heart breaks as I have to go along with it too. Bella slams the door behind her and he looks down at me. “What happened?” He asked.
I shrugged, “Dad it’s best for us to go. You saw how people treat me.” I explain my part of the reasoning. I walk to my room and Alice stood there handing me my bag. I stand in my room for a little bit then I peck her lips before jogging back over. “I thought you liked him?” Charlie asks and I obviously missed a little bit of the conversation. “That’s why I have to leave. I don’t want this I want to go home.” Bella says.
Bella then goes to charge down the stairs but Charlie follows her. “Your mother’s not even in Phoenix.” Charlie reminds her. “She’ll come home. I’ll have [Name] call her.”
“You can’t drive home now. I’ll take you two to the airport tomorrow morning.” I watch his facial expressions and the look makes me want to cry. “I want to drive. I need to think. I’ll pull into a motel in a few hours I promise.” She says and goes down more steps but Charlie blocks her from going further to the door. “Bells I know I’m not around much but I can change that. We can do more things together. [Name] I’ll make sure people stop bothering you. You can go on the rez with Jacob.” He pleads with us and I just hide behind Bella, not wanting to see his hurting expression any more. “Like watch more baseball on the flat screen? Or go to the Coffee shop? Same people, same steak, same berry cobbler every night? That’s you dad. Not me. Not us.” Bella exclaims and I know it hits him hard. I glance up and his eyes focus on me. “Do you… feel that way too?” His voice was soft and it partially broke. I suck in a deep breath. “Yes. I’m tired of being treated like a freak here dad.” I frown. “Bella, [Name]... I just got you two back.” I squeeze my eyes shut having a feeling where this is about to go so we can leave and as much as I don’t want her to go there we need to go. “And if I don’t get out now I’m going to get stuck here like mom did and I don’t want this for [Name] either.” Charlie looks stunned and we take that to our advantage, pushing through him and out of the door. We rush to her truck and she drives away.
I glance back and see him staring out of the window.
Tumblr media
“Y/N please come to my place! I need help!” You didn’t even get a chance to ask any questions, Abby hung up. It felt like your mind was going 100 miles per hour. You excused yourself from the professor's class and ran to your car. You broke every single speed limit known to man. ‘Why on earth would ABBY call me and not Mike?’ You parked in front of Mike’s house and burst through the door.
“ABBY!!” You yelled throughout the whole house. Abby came running to you and took your hand. “It’s Mike, I don’t know what’s wrong, he didn't come home last night!” She is crying, her eyes are so puffy. You went down to one knee. “Abby, breath. I will go find him. Please stay here okay?” You tried getting back up, but Abby yanked your hand down. “Let me come with you.” You had to be stern or else she wouldn’t drop it. “No. Stay here.” Abby looked like she was going to protest. “No questions, stay.” Abby ran to her room and slammed the door. You walked out the house and locked it.
You and Mike weren’t…on great terms. You two used to go find contract jobs together, but you stopped because you wanted to go to college and wanted to get a steadier job. You two were close, but you stopped. Mike wouldn’t let you explain. Mike didn’t talk to you for a long time, but a year later he needed a babysitter and you were the only person left he could think of. You were still mad at him, but adored Abby. Mike had his own problems and you never wanted Abby to see that.
You drove to his new job at this abandoned pizzeria. You saw Mike’s car so you locked yours and looked inside his. Nothing was there so you went inside the pizzeria. You walked through the entire building until you found a security room. Mike was there, passed out on the desk. You rolled your eyes and huffed. “Mike, wake up.” You nudged him but he didn’t wake up. You got close to his ear and yelled, “MIKE!” With that, he gasped and jolted awake. “What the fuck y/n?” You snickered a bit, but saw the sleeping pills. You got frustrated within seconds. “What’s that?” You ask with a knowing tone. Mike grabbed the bottle and shoved it in his pocket. “Nothing,” he mumbled.
“Stop lying to me, you coward.” Mike got instantly angry after you called him that. “Excuse me?”
“You heard me Mike. You said you were going to stop with those things after everything that happened here!” You huff and start pacing. Mike sighed, “Why do you care? I said I was trying to do better.” You stopped pacing and stared him down.
“Why do I care? Mmmm I don’t know maybe because Abby called me crying saying her big brother wasn’t home. And you call THIS doing better? Giving up on Abby isn’t better.” You kept pointing your index finger at him. Mike sighed really loudly. “I’m trying.” He whispered and you laughed at his response. “Trying? Any more lies to tell me?” You start pacing again. “I’m leaving.” Mike says as he grabs his jacket, walking past you and nudging you. “Of course you are, that’s all you know how to do.” Mike looked back. “Don’t say that.”
“Mike, pull yourself together. We may hate each other, but I care for Abby so much. You hurt her today. She was crying.” You frown and shake your head. Mike walks back over to you. “Why did you leave me?” You were in shock. “What?”
“Why did you leave? You were always job hopping with me.” Mike looks at you with pleading eyes. You sigh, “Mike I told you. I wanted a job that would last more than 3 months. I wanted to go back to college. I didn’t want to leave you behind. I was prepared to still see you and Abby everyday.” You explain, hoping Mike would understand. He sighs, feeling the closure. “I get it. I was so mad…” He trails off into his own world. You walk up closer to him and wrap your arms around his shoulders. Mike just stood there hesitating. “I know you were…I’m sorry.” He hugged you back after you said those words. “I’m sorry too,” Mike whispers into your ear, melting into the hug. You two enjoy the moment for a few seconds.
“I’ll promise to talk to you everyday if you promise me you’ll stop with those pills.” Mike sighs at your proposal and eventually agrees. “Okay.” He took the pills out of his pockets and threw them in the garbage can across the room. You smile and look at him. “Thank you. Now you need to go home and see Abby.” You start to walk away.
“Y/n?” You hear Mike call your name. You turn around and without being able to say anything, you feel his lips on your own. They were a bit chapped, but so warm. You melt into the kiss, kissing him back, finding your hands in his hair. The kiss is so passionate and goes on for a minute. Mike pulls away slowly. “You don’t know how long I've been wanting to do that,” Mike says, breathing heavily, still keeping eye contact with you. You were staring at him. “I’ve been waiting for that since the day I met you,” you say laughing a bit. Mike kisses you one more time.
“Want to spend the night over? Abby and I did scare you today.” Mike smiles, grabbing your hand to walk you both out.
I said I was gonna so a whole long post about the monologue after my rewatch so: having watched the whole Vecna monologue v Mike monologue that happens in the Piggyback in full for the first time in actual months…god damn. Just.
There is no way to understand what’s happening with El (and her relationship with Mike) during the monologue without looking at Vecna's monologue that comes right before it. There just isn’t, and if you try you’re 100% going to miss critical context for why things happen the way they do both in mlvn’s relationship and on screen.
First off: after what Vecna says to her, El is fully in self-defeat (and self-loathing) mode. She’d just learned that every single attempt of hers to do "right" with the knowledge she had at the time had actually been useful to the person destroying her world—
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
—and despite trying so hard to overcome her sense of destructiveness about things like scaring Mike and hitting Angela by going to “learn who she is” at Nina, it turned out that even the moments she perceived as her “heroic” ones (like closing the gate and stopping the mindflayer monster in S3) were actually tools useful to Vecna…just like her Piggybacking in to save Max.
El is literally hearing that even her best attempts at being “good” were used for evil, which makes her an accomplice to Vecna even if she didn’t mean to be—
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
—which we're shown, as El remembers all the moments she thought she was "helping" only to be told each one of those was her having her powers used by Henry/Vecna.
Tumblr media
If that wasn't enough, we literally watched as El paralleled herself directly to the person whose powers are now being used to destroy the world, even as we (the audience) know most of what is happening is just Vecna do what he does best by tapping into her deepest core fears.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vecna adds insult to injury here by making it clear that he once "wanted her by his side" in the first place (aka the powers she's been trying to use for good cannot be divorced from bad things)—
—and from this second onward (in El's perception at least) there is no way for her powers to be used correctly even when she wants to be helpful—which is why she “gives up,” lets the vine loop around her neck in the first place, and stares unmoving and crying at Max.
Basically: What Vecna says steals even the little resolve she gained back at Nina…which is why she stops fighting entirely.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, all of this is an extremely fair reason to feel defeated and dejected about trying to fight (on top of traumatizing af for El)—
—the problem is (like everything else wrong in their relationship) Mike once again has no sense of El’s internal state because she doesn’t and has not historically shared it (or can’t in this case), and therefore can only answer what he externally perceives her state to be—which he guesses, based on their last argument, has to do with him not being able to say he loves her.
The disjointedness between what is really happening with El and what Mike wrongly perceives the issue to be is why we see El not only look repeatedly displeased by his confession—
—but why the only thing she can think of in relation to Mike positively is his initial rescue, when he takes her to a space where her powers are neutral / unknown (and not the force for evil even her best attempts at using them just became in her mind).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
That dissonance is also why she doesn’t fight until he starts saying she need to get over herself and save someone else…which is why she looks at Max and decides to fight anyway.
Tumblr media
In truth, Mike could have glossed over the entirety of the “I love you," "not I'm scared of you but I’m afraid of losing you” part and just said “I believe you can do anything, but right you need to fight” and gotten the same result, given that what needed to be addressed was her self-loathing, not Mike’s (lack of) romantic affections.
Basically: even if they weren’t on the precipice of a breakup, Mike’s love wasn’t going to make up for the fact that El has basically just learned that what Brenner said was true—she wasn’t ready, not even physically, but mentally…because she was not prepared to learn that even her best attempts at saving the world were actually helping Henry build to the end of it.
Tumblr media
Combine that with the fact that she ends up losing Max despite trying to fight with Mike's encouragement...on top of the fact that all of her relationship with Mike was rooted in her wanting to feel "normal" (aka what Vecna just shot out the window permanently)?
...no amount of "I love you's" from a boy as insecure as Mike (who she keeps at emotional distance) is was going to help that, especially given that Mike was directly mirroring what Brenner (who she literally cannot stand atp) said to her trying to encourage her.
Tumblr media
All of this...we haven't even touched on anything happening on Mike's side or how her powers (that he so admires her for) are now officially "evil" in El's mind, never mind every other aspect of their incompatibility? ☠️
—I know I'm gonna move from this post on to how what Brenner said to her about "facing the good and the bad / humans are rarely so simple" is actually how El's arc has to be resolved in the end, but.
Tumblr media
For now I'm at 30 images and anything more would get convoluted easy, so I'll just leave us (and my million mile an hour thoughts) here.
you were pissed! the moment you heard the news about your mom moving into the house right across the street from you. you knew she only did that to piss your father off.
it angered you to your core! who the hell does she think she is?! your dad tried to keep you from blowing a fuse, but it was too late.
by the time eddie arrived to pick you up, you went off, cursing, yelling, and screaming. Eddie’s just hummed along. he was use to you constantly going on about how much distain you have for your mother.
“eddie?! are you even listening to me?”
“im sorry sweetheart, but is it such a bad thing she lives right across the street? its not like you have to see her everyday. im sure she’ll be in her own little bubble just like before.”
you scoffed. “that’s not the point edward!”
eddie sighs. “what is the point baby?”
you didn’t know what to say. mostly because you didn’t know why you were so angry by this. but eddie was suppose to just understand.
“as my boyfriend you’d think you would give a fuck about how i feel.” you roll your eyes.
eddie sighs once more. he really didn’t have the energy to argue with you.
“edward!”
“hey! i understand you have this huge issue with your mom, i do! but you do not talk to me like that. do you understand?!”
you huffed and folded your arms while looking out the window right when eddie parks.
he grabs your face a little roughly. you looked into his eyes before he speaks. “do you understand?!”
“yes, sir.”
“now, may we please have somewhat of a decent day? i canceled dnd tonight to watch my girl cheer today.”
you had been begging him to come see you from the moment the two of you started dating. unfortunately he had a dnd game every friday as well. he refused to cancel it simply because, just like cheer is important to you, dungeons and dragons is important to him.
this week was a very convenient one for him to cancel. gareth was grounded, mike and dustins family was going to visit their friend will, and lucas joined said basketball team, so he figured he might as well cancel tonight’s events.
“really?!”
eddie smirks. “yeah!”
you squealed before hugging him tightly. “you’re gonna enjoy it, i promise.”
“doubt it. couldn’t care less about basketball. but i do like that short little skirt you have to wear.” eddie smirks.
you playfully roll your eyes as eddie gets out of his van and goes to open the door for you. the two of you walk hand and hand, all eyes on you. people still didn’t get the appeal of eddie munson, but you couldn’t give three fucks.
your relationship with eddie was amazing. he treated you like the queen you are. no one else’s opinions mattered.
a few of your friends actually loved eddie once they got to know him. he was funny and charming so they understood. others, not so much.
“yn?!”
your turned and saw your best friend, ariana. “what’s up?”
“did you hear about what happened last night? apparently jason cheated on chrissy again, but she caught him in the act.”
“it was about time. we kept telling her he’s no good.”
“yeah, but that’s not the worst part. she forgave him instantly! he kept apologizing to her all night and she made him promise he’d never do it again.”
“she can’t be that dumb?!”
eddie was already over this conversation. not giving a single fuck about jason fucking carver.
“im gonna go find the guys. see you later, baby.” eddie kisses you passionately before walking away.
“god! you’re so lucky. eddie is literally the perfect man.”
you honestly couldn’t argue with that. eddie was the perfect man! and if this closed minded, dumb fucked town actually got to know the metal head, they’d realize he was the sweetest man on the planet. you were so sick of them judging eddie simply because he liked listening to heavy metal and playing a fantasy game.
eddie made you the happiest. no boyfriend before him has ever treated you the way he did. eddie was the kind of boyfriend to buy you flowers every date, run to the store to buy you pads or tampons when needed, cuddle you whenever you just needed someone to hold, listen to anything and everything you had to say, gives you random forehead kisses, and so much more. he was perfect in your eyes.
not to mention, the only man who could put you in your place. eddie was a very dominant man when it came to the bedroom. it’s something you lacked in the past. most guys just want to get off! they couldn’t care less about your needs. eddie, eddie made sure you came at least once before he fucked you into oblivion.
“i know! god, ari! he’s so romantic! just last night he took me out to this fancy ass restaurant outside of hawkins. he bought me my favorite flowers and spoiled me with anything i wanted! i don’t understand how i got so lucky with him. it still baffles me.” you slowly shake your head as you looked over and spot eddie talking to his group of friends.
“please find me an eddie, girl!”
“his best friend gareth is single!”
“the one with the short hair? he’s cute!”
“mhm! he’s still very skeptical of me. but i can ask eddie to talk to him for you. im sure he’d finally give me the green light as well. so far ive only been able to win dustin over.” you sigh.
it was hard on your relationship with eddie. you wanted—no, needed his friends to like you! you weren’t going anywhere, you let eddie know that the moment you took interest in him. he knew that of course! but his friends would still put things into his head. calling you suspicious, saying girls like you don’t date guys like them, saying you’re using him, calling it a bet like you’re in so basic ass rom-com! it hurt. you love eddie with your whole heart. sure, the two of you were young, but you knew eddie was your person. you wanted to marry him someday and have as many little munsons ruling the world in the future! but winning the friends over was a must! and you’d do anything and everything to try and prove to them you’re not going anywhere.
“set it up! we can double date.”
“texting eddie now,” the first bell rung. you say goodbye to ari as eddie walks over to you and walks you to your first class of the day.
