I think I’ll say this once, since I need to say it before I can move on to more excited posting about promos and things:
Obviously Young Royals means a lot to me. It’s become another way for me to connect with my hyphenated-American heritage and to start teaching myself Swedish again. It helped me survive a pretty brutal year of bullying at work. It made me confident enough to start the process of getting formally evaluated for autism and ADHD. I’ve been writing a 200k+ historical AU fanfic for YR—the kind of fic I always read and adored back in fandoms when I was younger, the kind of fic I wanted to write myself. I’m proud of the way that Heart and Homeland has made me a better writer, and I’m glad for the way it’s deepened my friendship with @heliza24. It is Young Royals in part that inspired by thesis on restorative justice in YA literature. When I was in the hospital last fall because I almost had a literal stroke from stress, I was comforted and kept calm by the fact that I was wearing a YR t-shirt and had a plush doll of a YR character sitting in my lap. And all of that is the short list.
As we come close to the release date, I hope that every single member of the fandom gets something they enjoy in the new season. I don’t think every person is going to get everything they want, but I genuinely hope there’s a moment, a scene, a line that brings them joy. We’ve all stuck with this series for a while, and I want us all to have something we can take with us. A little bit of sparkle for the road, if you will.
There’s of course the possibility that some of us get a lot of what we want, and others of us are let down. I know this was the case for season 2, and it feels naive to imagine that everyone in the fandom will be equally satisfied by season 3. I’ve got my fingers crossed that I’ll enjoy the hell out of it, but I’m also trying to prepare my heart in case it’s not what I wanted. I’m trying to gently talk to myself right now and say that even if the third season leaves me upset and unsatisfied—even if the writing takes a nosedive or it’s good writing but it’s just not what I wanted—that I still learned a lot about crafting stories and being myself and surviving hardship and thinking about systems and whatever else, from this show. That my experience with the first two seasons still matters, that my work on my fic is something to be proud of. If season 3 is a disappointment, Heart and Homeland will be my new canon. I’m sure there are other people out there talking themselves up in this way too. I know we’re all pushing through the pre-season jitters.
The other thing I’m trying to reconcile right now is how I feel about the promotional material that’s come out, and the conversations around that. Like on my own, I actually feel pretty great? It’s fun to see the new stuff come in? But then I think about the ratio of Wilmon to other things and some of the responses I’m seeing to that. And I see people say like “oh the show is back to focusing on what’s actually good about it” and “it’s great that they’re doing this because the audience doesn’t really care about characters who aren’t Wilmon.” And… hello? Aren’t I the audience? Tumblr isn’t too bad (most of the time) but then there’s like, Instagram, where the Netflix Nordic posted whole set of photos of different pairs and friendships from a whole bunch of shows, and there was one (1) picture of Sara and Rousseau and I saw enough comments where people were like “ew! Vomit! Give us Wilmon instead!” that like… y’all. Frida Argento is a human being and a damn good actress, and Lisa is a good writer of female characters, and like. We can celebrate that, once in a while. We can create space for her too. It’s not Frida OR Omar and Edvin. It’s Frida AND Omar AND Edvin AND Nikita AND Malte AND Nathalie AND Mimmi AND Fabian AND Samuel AND… look I could keep on listing but I’m going to get distracted if I do.
Like, man. I love Wilmon. Don’t get me wrong. I love the complexity their relationship can run with. There are lines heliza has written for them in fic that make me swoon and I am giddy about the part where I get to read them first. I love the glowsticks. I love Wilmon’s sense of humor and the part where they cheated at Vincent’s rowing race thing and their utmost commitment to being dumbass teenage boys against the world. The first week I saw the show and came into work (where we have an athletic field) I went and took a selfie on the field after covering my hands in those gross fake dots. Look. I am all in.
And also… I came to the show for Wilmon but I stayed for so much more. I would have watched Young Royals once or twice and said “that was pleasant” without ever getting back into fanfic after a decade away, if the show was only Wilmon. I do like Wilmon, but it wasn’t Wilmon who inspired my thesis on restorative justice or made me a better writer overall. I survived that year of bullying at work because I could come home and write my ensemble fanfic, especially the parts where I focused on the non-Wilmon pairing I was in charge of writing. I finally felt confident enough to be evaluated for AuDHD because of a connection I felt to a character who wasn’t Simon or Wilhelm. It was a plush doll of a non-Wilmon character who sat in my lap and kept me calm while I was hooked up to those scary machines in the hospital this past October.
I guess my one humble request is that people be thoughtful about how they use phrases like “everyone thinks” or “no one wants.” Not every member of the fandom has the same opinion, and not every member wants the same things out of season 3, and there are some of us who are happy about the new Wilmon content but who are still feeling a little hungry for more of our most beloved characters, and hope they’ll get meaningful storylines (and not get ignored) in season 3. I do know we probably won’t all get what we want, and that some of us will probably get more of what we want than others. I hope that whatever happens, we’ll all get something we want, and we can all be gracious about it, and continue to find meaning in the canon.
For the people here on tumblr who are already including me in their everyone… thank you, thank you, thank you. I hope you know who you are and I hope you know how much I appreciate you. And I do hope this Little Fandom That Could can keep going into all sorts of new creative places.

First shared in The Saiouma Pit discord server, parts said by other members are in quotations, unassigned bullet points are my messages
Hina: "It could go either way but... if it's Shuichi demonic royalty instead of parent, it's his uncle or Shuichi's parents and uncle being there and he's managing to perfectly play shit off to his parents while his uncle is just not buying it?"
his parents being the rulers of hell but his uncle being the one that cares to visit
Dra: "Shuichi tells Kokichi about what's going to happen, Kokichi agrees to help him find someone to marry (they are stupid) but before they can think of anyone time Runs out Shuichi's uncle appears from his silly little red demonic circle, looks at Shuichi, notices Kokichi and just "your human is rather small" And Shuichi loses it because oh fuck he didn't want to get Kokichi involved in this"
Hina: "The fact they really thought an hour was enough time to find a fiancé is just sad"
Fuwa: "we can extend it to 6 hours." And then I said: "no, an hour is perfect"
also Shuichi knew beforehand and just waited helplessly until it was last bell to do anything so he asked Kokichi for ideas
Fuwa: "they do fucking tinder, try to get a demonic looking match. They use a goddamn fake face app, to like, see who's demonic enough, and they point it towards Kokichi on accident at the very end, and it's like "perfect match". "Wow it's truly satan!!""
Hina: "WHY THE FUCK WON'T ANYONE MATCH WITH ME??? I TRIED A THIRST TRAP. I POSTED A PHOTO WITH A DOG. DO YOU NEED A FUCKING FISH??? IS THAT WHAT WE NEED??? SHOULD BE GO FISHING???"
Dra: "Does Kokichi get pros/cons of suddenly being married to demon royalty?" me: "like, what could the cons even possibly be? but yes he does"
after that dinner he stays up at night, pulls out his trusty white board
Dra: ""What if they don't have wifi in hell"", Fuwa: "Shuichi's family" (also listing cons)
Hina: "Pros: Demon Royalty, Would Protect You, Live in Castle, Rich, Cool Uncle, Husband Kinda Cute Ig Cons: The Signal Sucks, Parents are Meh, A lot of fire, Hot. Everyone Here lowkey wants to kill you"
idk about the killing part, I think Kokichi could gain respect in hell, they'd think he has what Shuichi lacks, he was always deemed too timid and soft for a heir to the throne, now this human he brought on the other hand…
Dra: "Ok but it'd actually be so funny if the other demons started going with Kokichi's lies and introduced him as the most powerful demon ruler that just happens to look like a lil dude (it's totally so he can fool sinners into thinking he's harmless) and Shuichi is just watching this go down like "huh""
I love fake dating AUs so I'll try to add a little more to this.
Neither of them has realized their feelings yet when that fated night happens, but something's been brewing through months of their living together. They're just friends that help each other in situations like needing an emergency fiancé. It's cool.
Until it's serious and they're told to pack, so they can begin preparations for the wedding and coronation in Hell as soon as possible. So things get a little tense, but they can go with the flow. It's just another adventure in the life of a supreme leader. And then the shenanigans begin.
The chambers prepared for them obviously have only one bed. They have to show off their affection to sell it to everyone. Learning new details about each other when they're made to pick out stuff for the wedding together. Some frosting on one's face while trying potential cakes. Waking up face to face after swearing to stay on far off sides of the bed the night before.
Kokichi learning things about Shuichi's childhood, Uncle shows him pictures. Shuichi watching Kokichi as he impresses demons with his act, looking at the faces he makes and being not only impressed too, but falling a little bit in love with the joy it brings Kokichi to have a receptive audience.
The realization of feelings being followed by the assumption it's unrequited and wallowing in it. The mixed feelings when trying on suits, dreading the approaching wedding day while thinking the other doesn't feel the same. Something pushing the tension past the limit and causing the confrontation. I've been thinking of maybe introducing a little magic to Hell's wedding traditions; they would each have to throw an ingredient into a huge jug of a special alcoholic drink that is prepared for weddings some days in advance and those specific ingredients have to be thrown in by the couple because the mixture will turn a pretty color when someone in love does this step.
Those idiots. These two morons. When it turns out alright they jump to the conclusion that the other is in love but with somebody else. [This could also be done with Kokichi hearing Shuichi mumble something about love in his sleep, or overhear him venting to somebody who knows their situation, probably Uncle or a friend, say "I think I'm in love" all tragically and the same misunderstanding happens]
So accusations fly, "If you're in love with someone, then why didn't you go to them with this?"
"I didn't know then. Why did you agree to this if there's someone you-?"
"I didn't know. And I expected this to be over by now. I thought that they wouldn't approve of me, or find out it's a farce and then kick me out."
"You should be with the one you love. I can open a portal for you. I can come clean to everyone, I got you into this mess-"
"No. It's not that simple" Shuichi looks at him questioningly, so he sighs and continues "... I am pretty sure it's unrequited. Doesn't matter anymore. What about you? I promised to help. Whatever that means now."
Whether they resolve it at that point or continue without talking things out [Shuichi claiming that his feelings are unrequited too, so their only option is to stay on track.] is up to you.

tagged by my lovely friends @gothbat99 & @fastcardotmp3 ❤️
rules: post five of your favorite fics that you've written and talk about why you love them. tag some mutuals so they can do the same and we can all spread some positivity about our writing ❤️
in order from most to least hehe
Anyway, It's About Old Friends My (unfinished) magnum opus. My heart and soul on full display. I love this fic with all my heart. I love this Steve and Eddie with all my heart. Writing an AU based on my favorite movie of all time but staying true to who these characters are has been so much fun and honeslty has taught me a lot about how I write long winded stories. Writing their struggles, especially writing Steve in this fic has been such a joy and a pleasure. It's on a brief pause as I wait for the WHMS bug to bite me again (its coming on fall and winter so its bound to bite me any day now). But I love this story and will always hold it close to my heart.
Catch Me (I'm Falling) This fic. Lol. This FIC. I know, I know, she was offline for a bit BUT she's back baby! In a different sense, this fic is also my heart and soul on full display. A lover of romantic comedy, wanting to write something that brings light and joy and laughter, much like the romcoms I love have brought me <3 Also, one of my favorite characterizations of Steve that I have ever written tbh! Bitchy Steve you will be my muse in any and everything that I wriiiiiiite!!!! Writing this fic also taught me that burnout is real and that I need to re-fucking-lax, no matter how much a story excites me lol.
Faces Freedom With A Little Fear JJ Harrington, our communal wife 💗 No but fr, Steve Harrington has always given me younger brother of an older sister vibes. Idk if its because I'm an older sister of a younger brother or what, but it works! I also loved creating an OC that was pretty three dimensional on her own, but also added so much to the characterization of Steve! It was also a bit healing to write this, as someone who is in a similar situation as JJ. Wanting to live my life away but having someone at home who you just can't help but worry about. I can only hope there's no monsters or alternate dimensions involved in my case. I do want to continue this verse, I want to write more of JJ, she is too special to be a one-time gal!
you can take the heart from your chest to use as a compass when you are lost Missed connections fic 💗 I have a lotta feelings about this one. I was still figuring out my voice, my first long fic. Re-reading this is like looking at pictures of you and your friends from middle school. It's cute and sweet but at times it makes ya full body cringe. I would love to rework this, rewrite certain scenes, add entire scenes. But, I also love the idea of my writing acting as a time capsule, a snapshot in time of what my writing looked like at a particular time. And at the heart of it, it's a story about subjects that are super close to my heart. Found family, holiday angst, steddie getting together, and Thanksgiving belonging to friends who feel like family <3<3
words caught in my throat (who talks first?) LOVED writing this one and also love rereading this one! A lot of the story is told from Steve's head as he navigates a very awkward and difficult situation of being locked in a house with his ex. Of which I was able to work on a lot of prose, and as someone who's strength is in dialogue writing, was a real treat! This fic also taught me that I am not just a one trick pony in that I can write difficult subjects and its not all just goofs and romcoms and meet-cutes. The stepping stones toward writign a fic like Old Friends. Snowed in fic!!! I love youuuuuuuu!
Tagging some fellow writers<3<3

If anything I think you should speak more, because I love everything you write (and draw.) You've been one of my biggest inspirations to go back and give all of my ocs actual stories instead of just designs.
In fact, ever since you mentioned having non-fpk family ocs before, I have been incredibly curious.
Please feed me all of the information like a bird feeding its young, except its letters going into my eyes instead of food going into my mouth
you have no idea how much that warms my heart, i'm really flattered that you see me as an inspiration. it's all i could really ask for
i do have some ocs, yeah. though i will say, the fpk au characters are definitely outliers when it comes to the amount of personality and lore they have. most of my ocs have very basic backstories, and many of them only do because i used to roleplay as them with my friends. a lot of my original designs that i'm attached to don't even have names, let alone personalities
since i'll be posting a lot of pictures, i'll throw this under a read more so it's not too long
i guess i'll start with my oldest oc, a lion king character who used to be my "fursona" (well not exactly, since i've never considered myself a furry. but persona wouldn't fit here) years ago, back in 2012 i believe. she went through a lot of changes over the years, but i've settled on a design that i really like
Tumblr media
her name is swahibu (used to be swahili, i wasn't particularly creative, and i changed it recently since it was a bit awkward for her to be named after the entire language hahaha), and she has a little brother named kobe. their lore isn't anything too elaborate, they're essentially scar's grandchildren who used to be outlanders, but after the events of the second movie joined the pridelands. swahibu is bitter and a bit mean, but cares very much about her little brother. she got her scars in a fight with rogue lions which unfortunately ended with their mother's death, so they're now on their own. kobe is a smart cub, and brings a bit of joy and innocence to his big sister's life. as they both resemble their grandfather more than they'd like, they're often the object of nasty comments from those who lived under his tyrannical rule, though they do eventually earn the pridelanders' respect. not much else to say about them, except that i like to hc swahibu as gay. also, they have a very simple family tree that i made to show what their parents looked like, here (might not work if you don't have a deviantart account, but i'm not sure)
--
next up, there's a character i've considered my persona for quite some time, and one i used to put in many funny scenarios with my friends' ocs. he also changed the most out of all of them throughout the years, and recently i gave him a more furry like design as i hate drawing human faces haha
Tumblr media
his name is rick, and he's a hybrid of all kinds of different animals. he's very laid back and lazy, though the fact that he's a hybrid gives him some animal-like traits and behaviors. he used to have a backstory but it's kind of stupid so i'm considering changing it, but he was basically created in a lab and then released after it was shut down. now he lives on his own with his cat, jon. he's one of those characters who are very flexible, so if i wanted to, i could modify him to fit into any scenario (for example, he used to have an assassins creed universe version which i used for roleplay years ago hahaha). not much else to say since i'm still in the (slow) process of changing him
--
i also have a lot of dragon characters, most of them were made for the purpose of a larger roleplay story with my friends. in general i take 'dragon' as a very vague term, since to me a dragon can look however you want and all those classification rules are kinda stupid. but you'll still a bit of, idk, i guess a paleoart like direction for their designs, since i like speculative biology and such. also, some of these originated as heavily based on some of my favorite characters at the time, you'll see that with the first one especially
Tumblr media
his name is stark and he's probably the dragon that has the most lore behind him. i won't go into too many details regarding the backstory since it's long and very connected to the roleplay (you know, bit of a "you just had to be there" moment haha). but tl;dr he was taken in by a village and raised from hatchling, so he's very docile and a little bit confused. the village was attacked and he was able to survive, but one of his legs was scarred pretty badly, so he noticeably limps while walking. he's a semi-aquatic dragon, so he's an excellent swimmer. funnily enough, he went through a complete "reboot" a few years ago. in the original rp, he was a massive asshole, he'd hurt others for his own amusement and was generally very aggressive and not pleasant to be around. also, he had a prosthetic leg, though i scrapped that as it was far too advanced for the setting i envisioned him in. i much prefer this direction, i love my giant himbo gator-dragon. and i wonder how many of you can guess what character was the inspiration for his appearance (it used to be a lot more obvious in his first design iterations)
(and no, his wing isn't missing. this is just to show his back haha)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
these next three don't really have too much backstory to them. well, except for the first one, his name is ithaar, and he was one of my first ocs ever. he went through a massive redesign quite recently, so he has close to nothing in common with his first iterations. the other two characters, eurus and ash, were made for rp purposes quite recently, and so don't have too much lore behind them
ith is a bit of a coward, he struggles with his self-confidence and believes everyone sees him as insignificant due to his small size and inability to fly. he can camouflage, though, so he's a lot cooler than he thinks. also, he moves by hopping around like a little kangaroo. his design is very dromaeosaur-like, with short stubby arms and yi-qi inspired wings
eurus is very pterosaur-like, though much larger than even the largest azhdarchids. he doesn't like the company of others, he's a bit of a loner (with trauma!). he may seem mean on the surface, but his past experiences make him unable to walk past someone who's in need. not quite a gentle giant, though. i think it's easy to see which pterosaurs in particular were the inspiration for his design, though his crests are very dilophosaurus-like
the last one is ash, and she's the newest addition to the roster. her rp session was very short and didn't really add much to her lore, but she's generally a huge jerk who likes annoying others and stealing from them. but of course, it wouldn't be an oc of mine if there wasn't some trauma involved, and she's no exception. she believes she doesn't fit anywhere, she felt rejected by her own kind for her unnatural abilities (she can move things with her mind), and so she copes with it by being a prick. her design was inspired by junker queen from overwatch haha
---
i also have four night fury characters i made during my httyd phase, and i redesigned them about a year ago to be a lot more "natural" in their appearance. they used to be quite a bit more colorful back in the day, and not in the good way haha
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
their names are vel'ri, sherok, atis and marivo. no real backstory, just vibes. the first one used to be my "main" character during the httyd phase. vel'ri and atis are female, sherok and marivo are male
--
and lastly, some non-dragon characters. these don't really have any backstory that i think is worth sharing, but i still love them very much
Tumblr media
this one is named rugat and they're a genderless, shapeshifting magma alien thing. i don't know what they are. i just really like their design. they're aggressive, but they have a soft spot for small, weak creatures. god knows what their reasoning is, but i thought it was a cute personality trait
Tumblr media
and these two are named lox and bagel. they're a ragarox, an original species i made years ago when it was cool and hip to have a closed species. they're eyeless cave dwelling lizard things. very chubby. these two guys are not related but they hang out all the time. 🏳️‍🌈 perhaps?
lox, on the left, is the more active and territorial of the two. but he's also super affectionate towards bagel
bagel, on the other hand, is the couch potato. very round and chubby, 10/10
as a fun fact i like to think their long tongues have very distinct smells. lox's smells like lime, while bagel's smells a bit like blueberry
--
and lastly, here are two unnamed characters. i like their designs but i haven't had the chance or inspiration to think of any details about them
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the first one is an okapi-like thing. with a kitty face. the second is like a weird mix between a ceratopsid and some kind of mammal
oh and, here's some redesigns of old dragon characters that i forgot to mention earlier. they used to be very different (all but one were inspired by other characters, but you can't see it on their current designs), and i don't have any backstories for them yet. their names are also going to be changed, so consider them nameless for now
Tumblr media
(fun fact: the top left one was one of the first iterations of eurus' design, but i decided to turn it into a different character cause i still like it)

HIII I just want to say I really love your Lawlu baby. It brings me so much joy and I read it 6 time already haha. Do you have more ideas for this amazing AU? Thanks you :D
I have no idea when this is from, I'm sorry!!
Thank you so much for reading and liking my AU!
==========
~Lawlu Baby Things~
Well, they've since been named Cora and Ace.
Cora being older than Ace meant a few things. One, he had to make sure the dummy didn't get hurt. Two, he needed to share his food with him sometimes. Three, and he had to share his parents.
That was lotsa responsibility! He falls a lot! He doesn't want to share his food, especially the yummy meat! And, he wants attention too!
His daddy had said he was cranky because he had a temperature. And Cora thinks it's true, because his daddy is a doctor that fixes some people. His other papa was holding him while they sat on the rocking chair. "Cora, we can't be getting sick now, we have an adventure to go on tomorrow!"
"Gotta take Ace too?" he mumbles.
His daddy laughs, "Yes. Don't be so mad a him, it was an accident."
"He sneezed on me, his fault I have boogers now," he glares at his parents, but especially hard at the sleeping one-year-old in his dad's arms.
"You know, he gets that anger and spritefullness from you," his papa laughs, quite loudly too.
"It's spitefulness, Luffy."
=-=-=-=-=-=
Sanji loves babysitting his godsons, he does...truly. But when he needs to take care of them AND be in the same room as Zoro...well he'd rather eat unseasoned food.
"Could you please help me entertain them, I'm trying to cook."
"But this is entertaining," Zoro grins.
Ace is sitting on the counter trying to taste each and every ingrediant, including the raw eggs! No smacking of hands deters that one, Sanji just gets smacked right back. Cora has been sneaking candy into his mouth, most likely going to get sick of it and ruin his appetite. Okay that was a lie, kid can eat. They're not half of Luffy for nothing.
"Why are you even here?" Sanji glowers.
"Law said you'd be cooking, so thought I might join you. Free meal and all," Zoro shrugs.
"Fib! Fib!" Ace yells. "Papa said no fibbing!"
Zoro visibly redddens, "Did Luffy also tell you that kids that say fib, get bullied?!"
"No, but daddy did say you always stare at Uncle Sanji's butt. And that you two would probably get married before we get another baby sibling," Cora states.
"Oh that does it, both of you go play outside!" Zoro chases after the two boys, managing to wrangle up Ace just before running after Cora.
Sanji is left there speechless, and blushing. It is the first and only time he's ever burned a meal in over a decade.
=-=-=-=-=-=
"Aunty Robin, what is the quickest way to muder someone?" Ace asks in his most polite and respectful manner.
"Well, I am a visual learner, how do you grasp your knowledge better?" She smiles at her two nephews. They are sharing some tea and biscuits out on her patio listening to the thundering rain.
"Pictures are good," Cora answers and his brother nods.
"Now why would my two sweetest nephews need this information?"
"Papa is mad that this one lady at daddy's work is giving him all the bad work days. We don't get to see him no more," Ace's demeanor shifts to a rather pathetic gloomy appearance.
"Oh dear, that does constitute murder," Robin sympathizes.
"We thought so too!" Cora grumbles. "Can you help us? We're cute, we'll be out of Impel Down in no time!"
=-=-=-=-=-=
Law was lying on his stomach, head sideways on his arms as his youngest was coloring in his tattoos. Definitely a habit he learned from Luffy.
Cora and said husband were baking cookies as he and Ace watched a documentary on the most ridiculus crimes commited. Luffy said he knows the person who holds most of those spots. How he knows a ridiculous clown, he won't even ask.
"Dad,' Ace smacks his back to get his attention.
"What baby," Law turns a little to see him.
"You need more tattoos. I colored them all already."
"Why don't we just get you some tattoos?" The words are out of his mouth before he realizes what he'd done.
But Luffy heard it and started laughing his ass off, "Good luck!"
Yup, his boys were about to go crazy for removable tattoos.

The Iconic Matriarch
Tumblr media
[Art by Kanesha Bryant from Thirsty Sword Lesbians: Advanced Lovers and Lesbians]
The Matriarch in Thirsty Sword Lesbians is one of my artistic prides and joys. I've created lots of comics, short stories and worked on several games. The Matriarch to me is a design stand out. I want to talk about the design of that playbook more specifically sometime but instead I just want to talk about the iconic for the playbook here. The iconic here is an AU version of my OC Jillain Owlnight. Jill originated as a NPC character in a roleplay that was the adoptive mother of one of my partners OCs. I really loved her and so did she. Jillian was a lawyer who did her best to help people, she was a scrapy woman in independent practice and single just doing her best. Still she was wise, she loved magical stuff, was a big fan of birds and was did her best by her new kid.
She recurred in some other roleplays as a mother figure as a staple wink and a nod or as someone's lawyer. Eventually though, she was brought into Love Beyond The Holy Light, which was a webnovel I had been working on for a while as a powerful witch with an affinity for owls, a POV character and the mother of another POV character. This fantasy version of her was probably my most in-depth dive into her as a character. This and the following modern roleplay really finished the refinement of what this character was.
Jillian is a trans woman who lived a really hard life with bad parents, runs away from home and has fend for herself or is taken in by some magical bird, either way she is living a fairly different life than other kids. She gets a lot of skills because she needs to be all around good to survive and the lesbian falls in love with a girl, typically after years there is a sad break up, she goes through a flop era and gets her shit together when there is a kid in need that she had to care for. From there on Jill is a mega mom, she does everything for her kids and tries her best to make the world a better place. Maybe she slips up at one point, sells her morals for the kids safety or comfort but eventually turns around to do right by her kids.
Which brings us to this iconic AU version of Jillian. I wanted a version of her to do something new with less baggage. I think I said to just warrior her up at first but I was asked to provide a bit more detail and I suggested a bit more of a Sci-fiy kind of vibe. Kanesha then used the very little guidance to make this master piece. I don't know what they intended but clearly they took inspiration form the playbook too, where they gave Jillian mob boss vibes since one of the examples for The Matriarch is a mob boss. The amazing details were basically all their idea.
After getting it here is kinda how I picture everything about her working but this is just my headcanon, I hope people take her and do whatever their brains come up with for her. To me this version of Jillian runs a queer gang. Their all about bashing back and smashing the system. She is a very proud mom of her kids wearing stuff they made for her. Each color of bean represents a different kid she has taken under her wing. The eye patch was made by a sweet daughter of hers as well and the bracelets were gifts from her oldest daughter. She rips off the rich and gives back to the queers posing as a CEO or something to explain the luxuries her organization affords people.
Her family mechanic is her right hand in the mob, one of her older kids and her wife. Jillian has Been around from her experience living on the streets and traveling for jobs and warm food. Then she has In The Family due to her crime family being a known force that is not to be fucked with.
Anyway, that was my idea for the iconic here. Have you played The Matriarch, if you have what were they like? Do you have any ideas for one or been in a game with one? Did the Iconic art give you any ideas like it did for me? I'm also just always happy to hear about any TSL OC, let me know in the replies and stuff.

save the date
tomorrow.
2/26/24.
save the date.
at least for me.
i have the meeting which i mentioned a couple of posts back and i’ve been scared for it. AND ITS TOMORROW!?
also why is there a big gap in between save the date and the word tomorrow?-
also i digressed a lot teehee!
second period. 8:32am. i’m so mad that it’s immediately after february / president’s day break, even though my past meeting dates, which i have memorized, have been in a similar timeframe.
this year - 2/26/24
last year - 3/1/23
the year before last - 3/21/22
but anyways i have to miss spanish class for the second year in a row!! my spanish teacher is gonna flip, im in a college level and college credit bearing spanish class and its the second highest. we’re prepping for the national spanish exam, which is a standardized spanish exam that i have taken in years past.
last year i got bronze, the year before last i got an honorable mention. this year i want silver and next year i want gold to show progressive improvement.
some other patterns i’ve noticed with my meetings is the teacher and class they choose that i should miss
10th & 11th: missed spanish, chose my math teacher to be the general education teacher.
8th & 9th: missed social studies/global, chose my english teacher to be the general education teacher.
6th & 7th: missed support class, chose my social studies teacher to be the general education teacher.
so i’m highly convinced there’s a method to the madness.
anyways now i’m going to go into depth of each of the invited teachers.
if you remember this pic:
Tumblr media
yes i have this picture somewhere in my favorites album, it’s easier to access that way.
also on the doc it has my real name (cuz liv is derived from olivia) but PLEASE DO NOT CALL ME OLIVIA. ty.
person #1: the chairperson/psychologist
if i get any testing done within the triennial period, like how i did my freshman year, i would get pulled out to take a variety of tests. i remember being so mad when i realized my IQ from grade 4 is the same as it was in grade 9, and i’m in the above average range for VSI.
which is insane. i used to be below average for VSI.
VSI, or Visual Spatial Index, is a subtest in the WISC-V tests for an ability to evaluate visual details and understand visual-spatial relationships to construct geometric designs from a model. (Child Psychologist AU).
the link to that article ->
also i don’t live in AUS, but this is the best definition on it.
2. my math teacher, also my favorite teacher! she recommended me to take two math classes, which is a shock even for me and also i love her so much because it’s fun to see her teach and her teaching style brings so much joy to my life and i can’t wait to see what the rest of the year has in store.
the only part i’m worried about, well, maybe two things.
general ed teachers have to take notes on me leading up to the meeting…and i don’t know what’s contained in these notes she’s written, so yeah that’s one. also, i told her that if she ever sees me distracted., she can redirect me — i guess i have never realized just how much i do get distracted until she tells me to stay on task when we do group work!
pretty much every group i’ve been in with my friends (so like clover, daniela, and meredith) we’ve been told to stop talking about other topics, and the only reason why is because im there.
clover & daniela normally work alone, together, without meredith and i and they’re super productive. they talk AND get work done.
meredith & i are the opposite. we work together any chance we get when she doesn’t pick partners and while meredith and i work we both distract each other.
the only annoying problem is, every time i get redirected from talking to meredith, we are always talking about a math problem.
when i got redirected with clover and daniela, we were distinctly talking about a different topic…!
3. my case manager/special ed teacher:
well i think she has a plethora of things to say about me. but like a plethora of GOOD things. because im a great student. i have a 92 in english and she’s the coteacher so it works out perfectly for me! :)
plus my writing is super strong, i wrote a 507-word response for english when it was supposed to be 5-7, and my other english teacher wrote this lovely comment!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
you don’t have to read the whole thing, especially if you haven’t read the great gatsby.
but my english teacher gave 7 perfect scores on this assignment so of course i’m so proud of this.
4. my guidance counselor
even though i just saw her for my junior meeting, i know she also has a plethora of good things to say, so im not worried about her input.
5. my speech teacher
worried- i have not gone to speech in a while, either because my case manager hasn’t sent me my speech schedule and because i use the period i have speech to finish any tests so my teachers don’t hunt me down in the testing room…which HAS happened.
6. also not mentioned, at least on the document, but my other general class teachers get an email the monday of and have to write like 3-6 sentences on my progress in their class.
the other 3 blurred people are my parents and i., but i don’t want information out there on my parents on tumblr.
also i accidentally blurred the location. it’s supposed to be a video conference, but i told the committee to make it in-person and now both my parents are coming so yay!
anyways this is a long post but i hope you enjoyed! i wrote this at my local hairdresser 🤗
im gonna prob post after the meeting, so like period 3 or 5 or even 9 about what went down in a new post.
thanks for reading :)
ps if you’re still there, i’m gonna make a new style where i use the quote text as a header for my posts.
bye now! :)

The dear diary au omg it tears me apart because I love the angst and all the asks with the storylines are so beautiful but so heartbreaking 😭
Dear diary,
I’ve been feeling ill this past week. I’ve vomited two days in a row, and my period is three days late. Dare I say, I think I could be pregnant! I’m going to go pick up some pregnant tests and I honestly don’t know how to feel, I’m super nervous!
Dear diary,
I’m pregnant!!! All three pregnant tests came back positive! I’m so happy!!! I have Ari’s baby growing inside me, oh I really hope he’ll be happy too. We’ll be a little family with our baby and maybe this can grow us closer together. I’m going to tell him tonight after making him his favorite dinner. Wish me luck!
Dear diary,
I told Ari I’m pregnant! He didn’t seem to have any sort of reaction. At least he’s not angry and he doesn’t seem to like me any less than he already does. It’s been a few days and he’s still distant and barely talks to me, but when he does he asks me when my antenatal appointments are and he’s started clearing a spare room and bought some nursery decorations. I hope this means he’s just as excited for our baby as I am!
Dear diary,
Things are going well in my pregnancy and me and Ari seem to be getting closer. I’m five months in and I have a little round bump that Ari rubs and talks to every night when we’re laying down in bed together. It’s so sweet, he tells the baby that he’s so happy and so excited to meet her. Oh yes, by the way we’re having a daughter!!! My latest ultrasound scan confirmed it and Ari even stuck the ultrasound picture on the fridge. She’s just a small tiny dot on the picture right now, but she’s bought us so much joy!!! Ari’s super busy with work but he’s always made time to accompany me to my antenatal appointments, and we even go out together now. We’ve been going baby shopping a lot, buying our daughter onesies and bibs and little stuffies and toys to fill her nursery. We’ve also been going out on dates now, isn’t that amazing! We usually go out to dinner but tonight I was feeling extra tired, so we had a movie night on the cough and cuddled through the movie. I can’t believe how lucky I am to have such an amazing husband and a beautiful little baby on the way!
And now I can’t handle heartbreak or character death so I can’t bring myself to think about reader dying 😭 I gave them a daughter because at least if reader dies Ari will have their daughter that looks exactly like reader to carry on her legacy 😭
BESTIE I WAS PREPARING MYSELF FOR THE HEARTBREAK! THIS IS BEAUTIFUL JANXSKNSS 😩😩😩😩😩💔💔💔

I was tagged by @sybilius to do this! Let's jump into it I guess!
1. How many works do you have on AO3? I have 71 attributed to me currently. I have two more that will be revealed this weekend, bringing the total to 73!
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
Including the two unrevealed fics, 245,147
3. What fandoms do you write for?
NJPW, AEW (not often), and Hockey RPF. I have stepped away from HRPF due to some interfandom issues, but have recently started a couple of wips.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos? Rare is this love, keep it covered (hrpf) a whole lot more than riches and muscle (hrpf) you had my soul, I felt it taking hold (hrpf) waiting for my day to come (hrpf) symphonies in the dark (AEW)
5. Do you respond to comments?
I try to! I have been holding off on responding to the ones from the Three Count Exchange because I want to gush publicly about the fics lol
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Selling My Soul is pretty angsty, so is one of my unrevealed ones ;)
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Symphonies in the Dark or a whole lot more than riches and muscle have marriage proposals at the end, so I guess those.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not anymore I don't. That was part of the interfandom drama in hockey rpf that drove me away.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I absolutely do. I do things from your basic vanilla fucking to delving into kink stuff.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I have not! I tend to lean towards AUs instead.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
God I hope not.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, BUT, I have had a whole fic podficced before!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I have in the past, but not too recently. @debbiechanclub and I tried though lol
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
My main ship in hrpf was Mark Scheifele/Blake Wheeler and my main wrestling fic is Shota Umino/Ren Narita, so I'll say those two.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
The damn accidental wish kid fic I started like 4 years ago. So much has changed since then, including my writing style, so I don't think I'll ever revisit it. I do plan on revisiting the concept though!
16. What are your writing strengths?
I've had a ton of people tell me it's how I do emotional connection and getting the reader into the headspace of the character, so that I guess.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I can be a bit on the more clinical side. I do think it's because I'm currently a post-grad student and a large part of my work requires me to write clinically, so it can be hard to disconnect from that. Some habits that I have to have for school and work are hard to break out of for fun.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I fucking panic every single time. If possible, I try and run it by someone who speaks the language to make sure I'm not fucking shit up. I know I can use Google translate, but I also know that it isn't a perfect solution. For example, I had like 4 people look over this one line from my Despe/Douki fic: “Tu gatito encontró a tu alma gemela”
19. First fandom you wrote for?
I *would* have said Star Wars, but the discovery of my old notebooks from high school say otherwise. From wrestling I begin and to wrestling I returned.
20. Favorite fic you've written? For years, it was a whole lot more than riches and muscle, and I'm still super proud of that fic. But now? Can you paint our picture on a star? Just read that and the whole series and it would bring me the greatest joy Tagging anyone who sees this and wants to do it!

fourth of july (every song’s about you)
For some reason, the idea that Calum thinks about Luke at all is a small shock. He thinks about Calum a lot, probably too much. He thought he’d go off to college and meet all these amazing people, new romantic prospects that would sweep him off his feet and make Calum seem boring by comparison. But all that happened was Luke met a lot of people, and none of them were as perfectly imperfect as Calum.
words: 3609 tw: none
on ao3 here.
this particular fic is a glorified prompt from em @pixiegrl who was like "i have a fic request perhaps," which i of course encouraged, and then she said, "Fourth of July by FOB as an angst fic pick the ship."
so thank you to em for giving me something a little different to do that made me feel excited about writing again for the first time in a while! and the timing is just perfect for me to put it out for the fourth so...angsty slash fic to celebrate america's freedom, or whatever!
The air is heavy and humid, but Luke doesn’t mind. He likes the reassuring weight of it on his skin and the way it makes everything feel just a little bit more important. He could live without the mosquitos biting at his arms, but it’s a small price to pay for the indescribable mix of nostalgia and peace he’s feeling right now.
It was strange at first, showing up at Michael’s house and letting himself through the gate into the backyard, unnoticed for a few seconds as he watched people he hadn’t seen outside of a screen for at least four years acting like time hadn’t progressed at all since they were seniors in high school. Luke may as well have stepped into one of the photos deep in his camera roll, from Michael’s birthday junior year, or the party they had the night before high school graduation.
So many moments in this yard. So many memories.
They keep bubbling up in his mind, even an hour later as Luke’s sprawled on his back in a chaise lounge, swatting away mosquitos and watching Ashton attempting backflips in a patch of soft grass while the daylight gently fades. Ashton used to be able to land them on his feet easily, but after four years of being out of practice, he’s falling to his knees on most of his attempts. Luke remembers the first time he landed on his feet, and they all clapped and whooped for him as he threw his arms up and his head back and saluted like an Olympic gymnast.
It was the first day of school junior year. Calum had been sitting next to Luke that afternoon, maybe even on the same chaise lounge Luke’s sitting on now, and Luke’s cheeks heat remembering how alive he felt under Calum’s attention, all the awkward flirty touches and the smiling at each other with unfocused eyes. Ashton spent the entire summer practicing, and it seemed remarkable somehow that his first successful landing happened to fall on the first day of school, like some sort of sign that they were in for an amazing year.
And it had been an amazing year, but it hurts to think about now.
So Luke tries not to, focusing his energy on egging on Ashton, laughing along with his friends, and letting the warmth of the early July evening seep into his soul. There are many reasons they gravitated to Michael’s backyard in high school, but tonight they’re here because of the perfect view of the town’s fireworks.
It was Ashton’s idea, of course, a Fourth of July party at Michael’s to bring them all back together for a night after being separated for college; a chance to see each other at least one more time before they all headed out to pursue the Rest of Their Lives. What a terrifying concept. Luke’s happy to put that off and spend some time with old friends; to pretend for a bit longer that he’s not actually an adult with responsibilities to worry about.
“Cupcake?” A red-frosted cupcake appears in front of Luke’s face, attached to a pale hand with chipped black nail polish.
“Of course,” Luke replies, plucking the cupcake carefully out of Michael’s hand. Michael sits down on the edge of Luke's lounger, careful not to tip them sideways. He watches Luke carefully as he peels the paper off his cupcake. Luke glares at him. “What?”
“You know Calum is coming, right?” Michael says it casually, like he’s not sure whether Luke cares one way or the other and doesn’t want to offend him by implying he does.
Does he care? He’s not at all sure.
“I…thought it might be a possibility,” Luke says. The thought had certainly crossed his mind. It would only make sense for Calum to be there; Calum was one of them. Just because they had broken up didn’t mean Calum wasn’t still Ashton’s best friend and Michael’s oldest friend. “By now I figured he wasn’t coming though.”
And maybe he was a little disappointed about it. Not because he was still pining for Calum or something; he was just curious. Over these past few years he’d seen Calum on social media, read his annoyingly funny captions and cataloged the various iterations of his hairstyles and the lifespan of his graphic t-shirts, from crisp and new to soft and littered with holes around the neckline. But he’s still curious, wants to see how Calum acts, if he’s still the same quiet, laid-back, but secretly chaotic troublemaker Luke remembers him to be.
Selfishly, he also wants Calum to see him, and wants to see Calum’s reaction to seeing him. Because Luke knows he’s different now. Physically, yes, but in other ways too. College gave him a new confidence and comfort inside his own mind and skin. High school Luke was silly and a little awkward and shy, unwilling to come out of his shell for just anyone, and when he did, he was always a little self conscious about it. Always quick to adjust his behavior if he caught someone giving him a strange look for getting tired of his stupid jokes or his clinginess or just him, in general.
He’s still silly and a little awkward and shy around new people, but he stands his ground now, unwilling to change the core parts of his personality just to fit in, and he’s proud of that.
Calum has always been like that.
Okay, maybe Luke thinks about Calum a lot. Maybe Luke’s brain frequently rides the “what if” wave, daydreaming about how life might be different if they were still together. If they got back together, even. Would they still fit? Would it be even better than it was before?
“He got hung up at a family thing, but he’s on his way,” Michael says, tense eyes on the cupcake in Luke’s hand.
Luke takes a big bite, no doubt smearing the red frosting in the corners of his mouth. It’s sickly sweet, just the way he likes. It seems to relax Michael, though, and Luke tries to smile reassuringly while he chews. “It’s fine,” he says after he swallows. “Might be nice to catch up.” Luke shrugs, aiming for casual indifference, and takes another bite of his cupcake.
***
It’s not quite dark when Calum arrives, but all the backyard lights are already on, casting a bright glow on Calum’s face as he slinks through the sliding glass door from Michael’s house onto the patio. Luke watches him from his darker corner of the yard, unsure if Calum can see him. He probably wouldn’t pick him out of the crowd anyway, with everyone else being much louder and livelier in the center of the yard around the bonfire.
Luke seems to notice him before anyone else does. He takes in Calum’s baggy shorts and even baggier t-shirt, his checkered vans and the slightly overgrown curls on his head, and he physically clenches at how familiar it is. Luke can almost smell Calum, feel Calum’s arms around him, hear his voice low in his ear saying I really fucking love you, because Calum always did things a little more than everyone else. He didn’t just love Luke. He really fucking loved him. Luke was a little afraid no one would love him like that ever again.
Within a few seconds, Michael spots Calum and tackles him in a hug, and Calum’s bright laughter echoes around the yard. It makes Luke smile automatically, apparently still happy to see Calum happy, even after they broke each other’s hearts. Funny how that works.
Luke observes as Calum makes small talk with all their friends, stray hugs and wide smiles around the crackling fire. He should probably go over and say hello if he doesn’t want this to be weird, but he feels like he’s glued to his chair.
He can’t physically make himself get up. So he watches. Appreciates the way all the little details of Calum are exactly the same as he remembers. He even moves the same, somehow more elegant than everyone else as he roasts a marshmallow to perfection for Michael to make a s’more. Michael is always too impatient, setting his marshmallows on fire and burning them to a blackened char.
It wasn’t very many July Fourths ago, in the same exact spot, that Calum licked marshmallow and melted chocolate off Luke’s fingers, Luke’s confused teenage body responding simultaneously with a spark in his belly and a hiccupy giggle. That’s a memory Luke hadn’t dredged up in a long while, and his chest hurts thinking of it now.
He’s still quietly watching when Calum looks up from the picnic table where he’s assembling Michael’s s’more and catches Luke staring. There’s a flicker of confusion in Calum’s eyes, quickly replaced with soft determination. He looks away, nudging Michael with a plate until he takes his s’more, then he starts the short walk across the yard to Luke.
It’s excruciating, watching him come closer, one step at a time. Luke doesn’t know what to do with his hands or his face while he waits, so he settles on raising his eyebrows and waving pathetically, like fancy meeting you here, as if both of them didn’t already know they would.
“Almost didn’t recognize you,” Calum says, hovering at the foot of Luke’s lounger. He’s backlit, and it’s hard for Luke to make out the details of his expression. Probably for the best.
“I don’t look that different, do I?” Luke wonders, tamping down the anxiety threatening to burst out of his chest.
Calum looks him over slowly and Luke feels even warmer under Calum’s blazing eyes. “I don’t know.” He sits down sideways on the edge of the lounger next to Luke, elbows on his knees. “You do and you don’t,” he settles on, offering Luke a small smile.
His eyes keep roaming over Luke with that tiny hint of confusion, like his mind is working in overdrive to update its catalog with this new version of Luke, connecting the visual in front of him with the memories he has stored away, memories that feature an entirely different version of Luke.
“You don’t,” Luke says confidently. Calum is maybe a little broader, and he has a hint of a beard, and he’s wearing a chain around his neck that high school Calum wouldn’t have gone anywhere near, but he mostly looks the same. Same style, same mannerisms, same neverending kindness in his burning eyes.
Calum’s smile widens at Luke’s words. “How have you been?”
How do you even begin to cover four years’ worth of life? Life’s made up of all the little day-to-day moments anyway. Luke can’t very well start telling Calum about the cute dog he saw on his walk to campus three years ago, or the way the ice cream shop across from his apartment had a delicious pumpkin butterbeer flavor last Halloween. None of it feels important enough to share, and yet. Those little unimportant things make up everything, don’t they?
“Good,” Luke says, biting at the inside of his cheek. “You know. I graduated. Now I have to figure out what to do with myself.”
Calum chuckles awkwardly and the pain in Luke’s chest spreads until he feels like he’s suffocating. This isn’t how it’s supposed to be between them. It’s not supposed to be work, talking to Calum. It never was before, and Luke doesn’t know how to deal with it now.
“You have a job lined up?” Calum doesn’t seem to be as affected by the weirdness of the situation, but then, he’s always been better at hiding his feelings.
“Not yet,” Luke says. “I have some good leads though. You?” It’s so bland. So mundane. Luke wants to puke.
“Yeah,” Calum says shyly, like he’s afraid he’ll offend Luke by admitting his life is slightly more together. “I have an internship with this graphic design firm? It’s paid though, and it might be a foot in the door.” Calum grimaces, and Luke can almost see him silently berating himself for using the phrase foot in the door. It’s reassuring. They’re both struggling through this conversation after all.
Graphic design. Luke didn’t even know that’s what Calum ended up studying in college. The thought pains him, because even though they’re not together, they loved each other. It feels wrong not to know something so basic about a person Luke once loved. Are they strangers now? Now that they’ve had so many stray moments come and go in the last four years without the other person being there or hearing about them?
“That’s great,” Luke chokes out, trying to keep his voice light and congratulatory. “Here in town?”
Calum looks across the yard at their friends around the fire. Is he looking for an escape already? “Out in LA.”
While Calum going to LA for college wasn’t the only reason they broke up, it certainly didn’t help. Not much point in trying to keep a sinking ship above water if one of you is already jumping into a lifeboat.
“You like it there, then?” Fuck. Luke wants to gouge his eyes out with the metal pokers their friends are using to roast marshmallows.
“It takes some getting used to,” Calum says. “But it’s not bad once you find your places, you know?” He looks at Luke with wide, imploring eyes, and it soothes Luke’s nerves a little. Calum is trying to make this conversation a success, trying to push through the initial awkwardness, and Luke’s willing to try with him. Desperate to, actually.
“Yeah, I get that. What are your places?”
“In-N-Out Burger, of course,” Calum starts, nodding his head in satisfaction. Luke smiles, maybe the first real smile since he’s started talking to Calum, and Calum grins back at him unabashedly.
“Of course,” Luke encourages.
“There’s a vintage store in West LA I love,” Calum continues, getting excited now. “Last time I went they had a fucking Nickelback shirt that made me think of you.”
Calum’s imperfections were things that suited Luke. The fact that he laughed too easily at things that weren’t that funny, the way he got quiet and withdrawn when he was overwhelmed, his affinity for setting the thermostat uncomfortably high because he ran cold – all things Luke could deal with, and even appreciate.
Calum’s easy laughter was perfect for Luke, who loved nothing more than to make him laugh. Calum’s quiet response to being overwhelmed balanced out Luke’s anxious one. Calum’s cooler body chilled Luke’s when they tangled together, and Luke’s blazing skin kept Calum warm in turn.
“I almost bought it to send to you,” Calum says, tone softening. He runs a hand through his hair, scrunching his fingers just a bit, and Luke remembers when he used to get to do that. The feeling of the soft strands of hair between his fingers, and the weight of Calum’s head in his hand when he’d lean into Luke’s touch. “I’m glad I didn’t though. It wouldn’t have fit you now that you’re a giant. When did that happen, anyway?” Calum punches Luke lightly in the arm and Luke laughs, even though what he really wants to do is hide behind Michael’s shed and scream or cry or do something to release this strange mix of emotions swirling inside him.
“I don’t know, must’ve been the dining hall chicken nuggets,” Luke offers halfheartedly.
Calum latches on like it’s a lifeline. “I thought you were going to become a vegetarian when you went to college?”
Of course Calum remembers that; Luke went on and on about his grand plan to use college as an opportunity to finally go vegetarian for months, before. Before they broke up, before they went to different parts of the country. It’s just strange hearing Calum acknowledge it, because that means he’s acknowledging them.
Raising his eyebrows guiltily, Luke says, “I lied?”
“I always wondered if you ever followed through on that.”
Now that Calum has brought up their shared history, Luke feels freer. The past isn’t off limits. Strangely, this small shift makes all the difference. He feels the oppressive awkwardness of the moment dissipating, evaporating along with the humidity in the air. “You knew I didn’t, Calum,” Luke accuses. “You know my willpower is shit.”
“I sure as hell do.” Calum stifles a laugh with his hand over his mouth. “Remember when you made me promise not to let you kiss me until you finished your history portfolio for Mr. G’s class?” There’s a mischievous glint in his eyes that makes Luke’s heart stutter.
“Fucking hell,” Luke grumbles good-naturedly, steadfastly ignoring the way his heart is thudding in his chest. “Set myself up for failure there, didn’t I?”
“How long was it you lasted? Twelve minutes?” Calum shakes his head as he picks lazily at a scab on his knee.
“Had to have been at least twenty.” Luke’s rebuttal is a flat-out lie, delivered with a guilty smile. He knows Calum is right, and he’s thrilled that Calum remembers this moment so specifically. Sometimes he forgets that Calum cared too, once, and maybe still does. Luke doesn’t like to think like this. He doesn’t want to hope Calum still cares the way he still cares. It would make the whole situation unbearably sad.
“I gave you a hard time about it, but it was probably just as rough for me. You wore your glasses to study and I always loved you in glasses. So hot.”
Luke can feel himself start to blush, and he wonders if this, and his increasingly rapid heartbeat, are just his body reverting to some sort of innate Calum response, going on autopilot as if no time had passed since Calum used to make Luke blush daily.
It seems like Calum can sense it too, smirking at Luke like he knows, even in the fading light, that Luke is still responding to him the same way he did when he was sixteen.
“Yeah, well. You haven’t seen my new glasses,” Luke says, biting his lip to hold back a smile. He means for it to be self-deprecating, but he realizes a moment too late that it sounds like he’s flirting. Shit. This is a sure sign he’s gotten too comfortable with this conversation and needs to find a way out of it as quickly as possible, before someone (he) gets hurt.
“I’d really like to see them,” Calum replies, a little flirty as well, but there’s also something earnest there, a sincerity in his eyes, and Luke trips over it, keeping his eyes locked with Calum’s for probably too long, because Calum jerks his head to look at their friends, joking around the bonfire, before he speaks again.
“I miss you.”
Luke leans forward, holding his breath, unsure he heard correctly over the laughter of his friends and the incessant buzz of cicadas. He’s afraid to acknowledge the words. He must have heard wrong. He can’t say I miss you too if there’s even a small chance he’s –
“You heard me right,” Calum says, shifting his eyes back to Luke with intention, silently begging Luke to respond and save him from his own embarrassment.
“Can’t believe you can still read my mind after four years apart,” Luke replies, quietly astonished. His mind spins and cartwheels around all the things he could say, frantically trying to calculate the risk of revealing the truth.
“I wish that were true.” Calum’s voice is tight, and Luke realizes that they’re both agonizing over the same fucking thing. He can put them both out of their misery with four words, but what good does it do to admit it? Then again, what good has it done not to admit it?
“I miss you too,” he says, quickly, in one rushed exhale, before he can talk himself out of it.
He doesn’t expect Calum to laugh, and it seems like maybe Calum even surprises himself with how quickly he tries to choke it back. “Damn. Okay. Okay. That’s a fucking relief.” He shakes his head and rolls his shoulders like he’s overwhelmed, and he’s looking at Luke in this very specific way.
The way he used to look at him from across the lunch table in the cafeteria, from the passenger seat of Luke’s old car, and from the pillow next to him in his bed late on weekend nights.
Luke squeaks out a disbelieving laugh of his own, and his chest flutters when Calum’s eyes fill with fondness at the sound of it.
Luke taps his fingers on his armrest, the nervous tension bleeding out his fingertips. There’s something unspoken between them, exhilarating and hopeful, but also something with the power to break them, again. He looks at Calum, wide-eyed and breathless. “So what do we do about it?”
Calum stretches out in his lounger and tilts his head to the sky. “For now? Just watch the fireworks.”
A sudden boom draws Luke’s eyes up just as a shower of purple and green sparks rain across the sky above them. He’s watching them fall to the ground, embers that could start a fire, when he feels Calum’s fingers slip between his.

Pleasant’s Writer Recs!
I’ve gotten a few asks in my inbox over the past few weeks asking me for writer recs, so I thought the best way to do this was to compile a list of my fav authors on tumblr and rec my favorite fic of theirs! A lot of these amazing authors are moots—I’m very lucky to call many of them close friends. This list could be much longer, and I could go on for days about every single author, but I’ll try to keep it brief. Most all of these authors, like myself, write 18+ only content. Hopefully this can be a useful tool for authors and readers alike looking for amazing fanfic 💕
@bakatenshii | Angel is so phenomenal with her writing that I almost can’t put her style and amazing ability into words (but I’ll try). Angel’s work is beautiful, masterful, full of poetry, elegance, and smut that will all leave you gasping. Fav Fic: Blitz [Ushijima x Reader]
@blahkugo | Sunnt, Thunnth, Sunny, whatever you call her, she is brilliant. No one writes Tsukishima quite like she does. She is beyond creative and her writing style flows like the sexiest water, it’ll make you thirsty and quench your aches. Fav Fic: Tower [Tsukishima x Reader]
@deathcab4daddy | Tay is all about details, details, details. She fills in every gap and paints gorgeous, sexy pictures and situations for the reader to feel immersed in. Fav Fic: Cerulean Blue [Akaashi x Reader]

@enjifuckersupreme | Ketsl reigns supreme over pure, unadulterated porn. They are phenomenal at making me the reader wet, and every fic is crafted with so much care. Enji fuckers should bow down at their feet, no one loves and writes Enji like Ketsl. Fav Fic: Attitude Adjustment [Enji x Reader]
@hisoknen | Raph is one of the first dark blogs I ever started reading, and she never, ever disappoints. She writes pieces that chill you to the bone, but warms your sex- her writing is casual, smooth, and realistic, always giving you everything you need, but leaving you wanting a little more. Fav Fic: Sleeping Beauty [Dabi x Reader]
@hoe-doroki | Ana is one of the sweetest writers I know. Every time I talk to her, she’s working on comfort requests or beta-reading for other people. Her writing is such a pleasure to read, as you can tell she pours love and consideration into every fic for her readers. Fav Fic: Can’t Find My Breath [Bakugou x Reader]
@joyousandverywarlike | Zo...holy fucking shit. Zo is a writer who consistently blows me out of the water with her skill. This woman is a novelist blessing us with juicy, rich smut and love stories like no one else can. She is incredibly poetic and her writing is an absolute joy to read; she also writes amazing fics for black readers and has an amazing voice that she uses for asmr audios! Fav Fic: How We Met [Ushijima x Reader]
@lemonlordleah-shinzawa-kitten | Leah is an author who takes immense care with her work. She works incredibly hard to craft sexy, healthy bdsm fics for bnha. You should also check out her Patreon! Fav Fic: Between the Evergreen [Aizawa x Reader]
@linestrider | Nyki’s work is like smooth water, it’s calming, refreshing, but she also adds a nice, chill bite to it as well with her darker style. Nyki puts such an impressive amount of care into her work; a word is never out of place, every sentence has meaning, every paragraph gives you something new. It was very hard to choose just one fic to recommend. Fav Fic: What’s Said is Said [Hawks x Reader]
@lookslikeleese | Leese is one of the most fun writers on Tumblr, and by that I mean you just have a shitload of fun reading her fics. They are like little, sexy treats to take in right before bed and feel a little more full than you were before. She is also the Cucking Queen. Fav Fic: Cola [Enji x Reader]
@messwriting | Lee is also another fun writer! Her writing is exhilarating to read, and you’d never guess she’s a sexy Brazilian whose second language is English based on how well she writes. She’s a little sex goddess who will give you everything you want and more in every fic. Fav Fic: What We Could’ve Been [Tsukishima x Reader]
@mindninjax | Marquie is a full on sweetie with a sexy side. She. Is. So. Creative. Every fic of hers is so unique and her masterlist is a whole reading experience. Fav Fic: Once in a Blue Moon [Karasuno x Reader Gangbang]
This list could honestly be twice as long, and perhaps in the future I’ll make a companion to it as I meet new authors and read more amazing fanfic. Please give all these authors a follow or at least check out their blogs. 💖

Bungou Stray Dogs Men as Househusbands pt.1 - Sakunosuke Oda
A/N: I’m sorry that this isn‘t a request, but this brain rot has been going on since forever and now I can’t resist it anymore. I totally blame @hanazou for this. There will also be a part two featuring Chuuya, but his part has a completely different feeling to it, that's why I'll post these separately. Besides of that, this is basically an “Way of the Househusband!AU”. Go watch the show or read the manga if you don’t know it, it’s absolutely hilarious! This is mainly focused on them as househusbands, but since you are their spouse, there’s also a bit of reader insert. Also, a lot of Oda as a dad to his orphans. And the whole thing is feat. Dazai. (^^)
Pairings: Oda x gn!reader
Genre: Crack, domestic fluff
Warnings: none
Summary: You, Oda and the orphans move in together. While you become the working spouse, your loving husband stays at home and becomes a full-time househusband.
pt. 2
Tumblr media
First things first - If you agree to marrying Sakunosuke Oda, you are also agreeing to become the parent of five children. Oda loves you and you are one of two main reasons he’s leaving the Mafia, the other being his life purpose. But if he’s leaving the Mafia, he’s keeping those kids in (if they want him to of course, but you can’t tell me they don’t, come on -)
So yeah, be ready.
He only cooks spicy curry at the beginning. The curry shop owner gave him the exact recipe of his favourite plate as a goodbye gift and that’s the only thing he is cooking for days on end. He has some basic cooking skills, but this is the only really elaborated dish he knows how to prepare as of now, so be ready to suffer from the spice. It will go on like that until all six of you you and the kids hold an intervention for him. The kids will paint nice banners like they were going to a demonstration saying "No more curry" that they hang up in the living room and he’ll be greeted by your sorrowful face when he comes back from buying groceries.
“What’s this?” – “Oh honey, I’m so sorry, its just…” – “WE CAN’T TAKE THE SPICE ANYMORE STOP COOKING CURRY ALREADY!” – “…I mean…yeah.”
Of course, he’ll be a bit embarrassed and disappointed. May scratch his neck and look to the side thoughtfully. But he’ll take your plead seriously.
This is also how you bond with the kids for the first time. Congratulations, huddling up against someone is always the best way to bond!
He works hard on his cooking skills after that and becomes quite the formidable cook. He takes suggestions from you and the kids and will try to learn how to cook anything you might fancy to eat. It’s really important to him that all of you are happy and cooking may be the most important job of a house spouse, so he takes it very seriously.
There will be curry Tuesday though. One day of spice hell. Enjoy.
Please picture Oda in his usual attire, wearing a beige “kiss the cook” apron over it and bunny slippers. You’re welcome.
He'll learn how to make anime and cartoon-themed bentos for the kids, so it's highly probable you'll get cutely designed bentos as well. Again, you may drop suggestions, he’ll absolutely take them into considerations. Octopus sausages, bunny apple slices, cute bear faces made out of rice, he’ll learn to do them all. He isn’t too sappy of a person, but if he’s feeling romantic while cooking, your rice could also have the shape of a heart. Either way, your co-workers will be very envious of your food and your husband.
Oda iss the master of negotiation at the food market. He’ll be completely stoic all the time, not aggressive or dismissive at all, but he’ll point out little flaws of the products in a way that most shop owner’s won’t be able to deny and that’s how he gets discounts. He doesn’t want to cheat anyone out of their money, but he does have seven mouths to feed.
He may not look like it, but if any of the kids tag along for his grocery shopping, it's really hard for him to deny them something if they beg for it. He may seem unnervingly calm all the time, but he’s a big softie, especially for those kids and for you, and if they hang at his sleeves long enough, they’ll get that ice-cream they want so badly. That doesn’t work on pricier items though, he can be a strict parent when really needed.
Oda is great at handling the finances. He’s well aware that he has to be thrifty with five kids. Still, there is one thing where he struggles to keep his control: books.
If you agree to it, the apartment will have an absolutely minimalistic interior, but! In your living room, there will be a shelf full of books, so big it covers a whole wall. That’s it, that’s Oda’s only weak spot when spending money.
It’s not only books for him though. He buys books for you when he sees something from your favourite author or genre. He buys books for the kids so they learn the joy of literature. Poems, bed time stories he wants them to grow up appreciating the possibilities of the written word.
You can bet that he’ll read them bed time stories. Only one book for all five of them though, so one kid gets to choose a story each day.
He’ll read to you as well if you want him to. His voice is incredibly calm and soothing, he’s a really good reader. There’s a high probability you’ll fall asleep while he reads to you. You can cuddle up in bed and rest your head on his shoulder or sit on his lap and hide your face in the crook of his neck, feeling the vibration of his voice in his chest.
Whenever he has some time to spare, he’ll retire to your shared bedroom to write. Mind you, that won’t happen often. It happens mainly on weekends, when the kids are with friends and/or you are at home. If you want to do him a favour, consider cooking on the weekends, he’ll be more than thankful for the opportunity to submerge in his beloved writing. But don’t worry, it won’t consume him – he’ll always put some time aside to spent with you, without the kids, as well ¬‿¬.
He's so polite with the neighbours. Will pay all his neighbours a short visit together with the kids to introduce himself and bring little gifts. Just imagine him standing there in the door frame, witih all five kids around his legs, smiling at their new neighbours angelically - what's not to love?
He really wants to maintain a good relationship to all of them. Basically, he’s the perfect neighbour – always polite, always up to a little chat, always ready to listen to neighbour A complain over neighbour B without snitching. He’s mainly concerned for the wellbeing the kids though. He wants them to feel part of the community and often arranges play dates with the neighbour kids. If it's possible at the neighbour’s house because five kids are a lot to handle already…and when they are all out of the apartment, it’s cleaning time.
Oda is an angel of patience and the ultimate multitasker. He isn’t left with much of a choice with five kids, but thankfully, calm lies in his nature. You may see him explaining Sakura her math homework while cutting vegetables for today’s lunch. Then, he’ll take a quick glance out of the window to see if they boys are still playing on the street where he can see them and then he’ll check on Sakura again. Isn’t he lovely?
His ability is unexpectedly helpful for all of this. If he’s in the living room to clean, his ability will alarm him if the food’s about to burn. If he’s around the kids, he’ll know in time if one is about to trip. If you come home from work so tired you fall asleep face first in your soup, he’ll be able to catch you. So useful.
He’s a very attentive and loving husband. His love is mainly expressed by keeping the house as clean as he can and putting a lot of effort into cooking. Your work is hard enough, he takes it upon himself to manage everything else. He’ll also try to have the kids well-behaved so they don’t demand too much from you after you come home from work. Though if you decide to pull yourself together and give them attention and love even when tired, he’ll be more than thankful. He knows it’s a lot to ask to be a parent, especially to not one, but FIVE kids that are not yours by blood. So if you actively seek to have a close bond to them, it will make him so incredibly happy because he knows it’s not the natural course of action for everyone.
Will give you head, shoulder and foot massages after an especially excruciating day of work. His hands are skillful and he knows where to touch to make you moan to release the tension from your muscles.
Likes to lie his head in your lap after both of you had a long day of work. Yes, you may be the provider, but keeping a house clean and five kids under control isn’t an easy job either! So, he’ll seek peace laying his head on your thighs and closing his eyes while you tussle his hair and tell him about your day. Don’t expect more than a mumbled “Mm” or “I see” from time to time, but be sure that he’s listening.
And the Port Mafia? You’re in luck - since he was the lowest-ranking member, The Mafia, by which I mean Mori isn’t bothered that he left. He refused to kill anyways, he’s to no use to them him.
Of course, Oda will try to be absolutely sure there is no hidden reason for Mori to hinder his leave beforehand, or to resent him for it. The last thing he wants is to endanger you or the kids by leaving his job as a criminal.
If he ever meets a member of the PM in public, he'll act as if he doesn't know them. He may give them a polite nod if they make eye contact, but that’s about it. It’s not that he resents them, but he really wants to start a new life here that isn’t connected to killing and cruelty at all. If they approach him he'll be very polite, but try to keep the conversation short, even if they seem to have no ulterior motive.
Of course, there’s one member of the Port Mafia that marks the exception, by which I mean to say that you’ll have Osamu Dazai over for tea regularly. No, he won’t announce himself at all. The first time he appears at your apartment, you’re just finishing to unpack. He’ll tand at your doorstep all of a sudden to tell Oda that Mori already knows where he moved to. Oda will just nod as an acknowledgement. He expected as much. And then he’ll give you a questioning look. If you nod, he’ll officially asking his friend to stay for dinner. You’ll be having curry.
From then on, he’ll just drop by whenever. You may come back home from time to time to find dinner ready, the kids in bed and your husband and Dazai drinking. If you join them, you will have some truly joyful evenings spend together. You’re Oda’s chosen one, so Dazai is a bit more inclined to let you get close than he is with others. You may make a new friend in the process.
It doesn’t take a lot of time for the kids to start calling him Uncle Dazai. He’ll actually be Uncle Dazai before they ever call Oda Dad or you Mom/Dad. It will take them mere weeks to call him uncle, but months, maybe years to call the two of you Dad/Mom. It will happen eventually though, and the day it happens, I assure you that you will see Oda spill tears of happiness. He’ll be looking away, wiping his face with one hand and smiling. He never thought he would want this, but now he knows he does.
Back to Dazai! He’s reserved with the kids at first. As we know, he doesn’t feel all to comfortable around “childish behaviour”. But kids are like cats, the feel drawn to the one that’s most cautious. By which I mean to say that they are all over him. Literally. Oda will leave for five minutes and when he’s back at the living room the kids will have tackled a slightly unnerved Dazai on the floor. Sakura wants him to see the drawings she made, Katsumi, Kousuke and Yuu want to play, Shinji wants to ask him what's under his bandages. He’ll have no choice but to oblige and it goes surprisingly well. Oda may abuse him as a baby-sitter when he visits from then on.
Then suddenly, Dazai stops visiting altogether. You are worried, but Oda, for some reason, isn’t. Even more, whenever you ask him about it, you may catch him smiling to himself in a satisfied, proud way. No, Dazai didn’t tell him anything. If Oda would know, it would endanger all of you. But he knows. He knows that Dazai finally made his choice to leave the Port Mafia and needs to lay low now. And that’s okay.
It takes Dazai two years to come back, which will be just as sudden as him leaving. You’ll be astounded to see him a changed man at first sight. Oda will scold him for not sending any notice and then everything is normal again. And after some more years, he’ll start bringing along a scrawny kid with white hair.
A/N: Wow, this is the first post I put a "keep reading" link in because it's so long! That's kind of a milestone for me. 。゚(TヮT)゚。
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this! Thank you for reading!

A Favor: Part Twenty-Seven
Nessian Modern AU
Masterlist
a/n: working a full time job + part time job tutoring english + applying for scholarships + still having free time left is a lot harder than i thought it would be. which is my way of saying this chapter should've been done a week ago lol.
i call this my goodbye chapter b/c goodbyes are made.
***
As Nesta brings the last of her things into the cabin, Azriel takes the last of his stuff out.
Standing beside Cassian, Nesta watches Azriel shut the trunk over the final box of his belongings. With all the extra stuff he stole from the cabin, it almost seemed like everything wouldn’t fit into his tiny car, but here he is. Ready to go.
He dusts off his leather jacket and approaches her and Cassian. “This is goodbye,” he says, coming to a stop before them.
Nesta once thought this would be the happiest day of her life, second to her wedding day. She should have predicted that her rightful joy would be extinguished by sentimentality.
Cassian claps Azriel on the shoulder, the two brothers having already said their goodbyes in private. Still, Nesta can see a little sorrow in Cassian’s eyes, as if he also got too used to having Az around all the time.
Azriel, the dick, reveals nothing through his eyes. Neither does Nesta.
The two of them look at each other awkwardly for a moment, and then he comes in to hug her. Nesta hugs him back, arms crossing around his broad back, but it has the same stiffness as two Barbie dolls being made to kiss each other.
When Azriel tries to pull away, Nesta clutches him to her with surprising strength. “I know about the picture,” she says lowly in his ear.
“Too late to take it back now.” She might feel him smile on top of her hair.
Nesta lets go of Azriel swiftly, having had enough physical contact with him to last a year. “Drive safe, so Elain can find you in one piece,” she orders.
Azriel grimaces at that, reminded of what waits for him in Velaris. Whatever Elain decides to give him, it’ll probably be deserved.
“I’ll get going then.” Az starts backing away, and Nesta hears Cassian sniffle. She looks toward her boyfriend in concern, but he circles his huge arms around her shoulders and pulls her back to his chest before she can catch him getting teary-eyed.
They watch Azriel get in his car and drive away. Nesta waves until the car disappears fully into the thickness of the surrounding trees, waves until her arms are too tired to keep going.
Once Az is gone, she turns in Cassian’s embrace and jumps up into his arms. Her legs hook around his hips and his hands fit themselves under her thighs. She smiles and tells him, “Let’s go home.”
Ten minutes later, they find themselves sitting in the silence of the kitchen. It’s the quiet of a house adjusting to a missing person, and Azriel’s absence is tangible.
Cassian is the first to break the silence. “Do you think he’s past city limits by now?” he asks as he stirs his coffee.
“No.” Nesta turns the page of her book, focused on reading. “Not if he stopped by Gwyn’s before leaving.”
She hears Cassian stop stirring. “What does that mean?” he says.
Nesta looks up at him and shrugs. “It means he probably wants to say goodbye to her.”
***
“One charge of assault, one for battery, and one huge lawsuit against my company,” Rhys reads aloud from the file in front of him.
Cassian waves a hand in dismissal. “Just make it go away like you always do.”
Rhysand’s near-violet eyes narrow with barely restrained rage. “Cassian. You shattered an employee’s hand.”
“Hey, O’Connell.” Cassian strolled up to him early last Monday morning. The underground parking lot was near empty at this hour, since most workers wouldn’t come in until nine. “How was the rest of your weekend?”
O’Connell looked up from getting his bag out of his car, clearly surprised to see Cassian willingly make small talk with him. “It was good,” he answered lightly. “You left Velaris early, though.”
“Yeah, about that.” Cassian came to a stop by O’Connell’s car and held out his hand, catching the car door before it could be shut. “I had to take my girlfriend home.”
O’Connell looked confused, but nodded along. “That’s nice. Can you—?” He gestured at the car door, indicating to Cassian to let go.
Cassian didn’t. “What hand did you use?”
“Excuse me?”
“When you touched her,” Cassian clarified. “What hand did you use when you touched her?”
O’Connell’s look of confusion morphed into one of contempt. “What the hell are you talking about, man?”
“Nesta Archeron.” Cassian straightened up, hand tightening over the top of the car door. “Your old college friend.” Realization dawned across O’Connell’s face, but he still hadn’t answered Cassian’s question.
“If you don’t tell me now, I’ll have to take my pick.” Cassian clicked his tongue in disappointment. “You’re left-handed, aren’t you?” He snatched up O’Connell’s left hand, and in a flash O’Connell was pressed up against the car, his hand pinned to the doorframe.
“Hey, wait, what are you—” O’Connell protested.
The sound of a car door slamming shut on a hand was louder than Cassian expected. It was the crunch of bones and muscle followed by immediate screaming.
“It could have been worse,” Cassian said flatly over O’Connell’s cries of pain. “It could have been your tongue, since you like talking shit so much.”
Cassian blinks out of the memory. “So what if I did?” he shrugs in response to Rhys.
“You are a member of my inner circle,” Rhysand fumes. “Keith O’Connell is a respected figure in our industry and a higher up from Vanserra and Co., and the head of our Milan outpost, but you saw fit to take out justice on him without asking me first.”
“You had nothing to do with it.”
“That is not up to you!” Rhysand jabs a finger at Cassian. “What will our shareholders think when they hear about this? What will the board members say?”
Cassian is starting to get irritated now. “They won’t find out, because you won’t tell them,” he says firmly. “We both know you’ve covered up worse things to fit your agenda, but it’s a problem if I don’t want a creepy bastard working under my jurisdiction?”
Having learned most of his business tricks from his father, Rhys is no perfectly clean CEO himself. He would’ve done far worse to O’Connell if it was Feyre in Nesta’s place, and he would have ended it all with a speech about how abusers and their sympathizers have no place at Night Court Inc.
The thought only inflames Cassian more; maybe he’s still riding off the anger of O’Connell making Nesta cry.
Tempering his feelings, he tells Rhys, “When you’re done shutting O’Connell up,” because Rhys would do it no matter how angry he pretended to be, “make sure Nesta never finds out about this.”
Rhys sits back in his chair, a bitter smirk pulling at his mouth. “Afraid she’ll be horrified of what a brute her sweet boyfriend is?”
Cassian nearly snorts at the image of Nesta recoiling at a broken hand. She’d probably call him weak for not shoving O’Connell into a ravine. “No,” he answers tiredly. “It’s not violence that offends her, but if she finds out it was in her name… I don’t want to put that on her shoulders.” Which is a shame, because in any other situation Nesta would love to hear about the unfortunate circumstances that led to O’Connell quitting his job.
Rhys lets loose a long sigh. “Damn, you both scare me.” After a few moments, he asks, “Now what are we going to do about Milan?”
***
Life after moving in with Cassian passes by quickly, and before Nesta knows it, she’s completed her second year of law school.
As for the boys who were some of her first friends and drinking companions, back when Nesta barely knew the definition of a friend—today they complete their final year of law school.
Nesta fans herself with the pamphlet she was handed at the beginning of the graduation ceremony, trying to stop the harsh morning sun from melting the makeup off her face. The audience is packed like sardines onto one huge field, and the announcer on stage hasn’t even reached the last names that start with D. Eris, Justinian, and Isaac are all near the bottom of the alphabet.
“Do we really need to be here today?” Nesta murmurs to Emerie, squirming in her metal foldout chair.
Sitting at her right, Emerie throws her a scolding look. “Don’t be like that. We’re never going to see these guys again.”
Nesta sincerely doubts that, considering how none of the guys are moving more than a few hours away. But her uterus is raising hell right now, even though her new meds have put a stop to her periods. Paired with the ache in her back from these terrible chairs, she’s about to call it quits and go straight home.
“Nesta!”
She whips her head to the left, finding Elain striding through the row of chairs to reach the empty seat beside her.
Like watching the Red Sea part, everyone in the row pulls their feet back and makes themselves as small as possible so Elain can have a clear walkway.
Nesta moves the purse she used to save Elain’s seat aside, and Elain drops her butt onto the little foldout chair like it’s a throne.
“A little warm for an outdoor ceremony, don’t you think?” Elain fans her face.
“You didn’t have to come all the way here, you know,” Nesta says.
“Eris made me. I haven’t talked to him since I broke up with his brother, but I think he wants to look like he has a lot of friends here.”
“Yeah, that checks out,” Emerie mutters from Nesta’s other side.
Elain seems to take notice of Emerie for the first time, and her Southern charm turns on like a switch. “Oh my, I don’t think we’ve met.”
Elain introduces herself and Emerie does the same, smiling and nodding politely, and Nesta can’t even decide if she likes this crossover because she’s too busy massaging her aching abdomen.
A string of “Excuse me, sorry!”s go up in the row they’re sitting in, and a moment later a familiar face plops down on the chair to Emerie’s right.
Gwyn leans over Emerie and holds a bottle of Advil out to Nesta. “This is all I could find in my car, babe.”
Nesta releases a sigh of relief and snatches the bottle. “It’s perfect, thank you.”
Elain’s gaze moves to the medicine, then to Gwyn. “You must be Gwyn.” She offers a smile. “I’m Nesta’s sister, Elain.”
Gwyn’s eyes widen imperceptibly, and Nesta realizes she should have warned Gwyn that Elain would be here.
Going off how Gwyn’s been acting the last few weeks, Nesta can only assume that she influenced Azriel’s final decision to move away, whether directly or indirectly. Nesta doesn’t even know much about what happened between the two of them during their weird sex deal, considering that she and Gwyn promised to never discuss such horrible things with each other.
All Nesta knows is that Azriel is Gwyn’s closest male friend, and close friends that have also slept together probably don’t want to bump into each other’s exes without warning.
“Are you here to see Eris graduate, too?” Elain asks.
Gwyn looks like a deer caught in headlights. “Who? Oh—no, I’m just here so we can drive to brunch together after.” Her voice gets quieter with each word, and she tucks a strand of hair behind her ear. “Nice to meet you,” she adds in a murmur, her face a furious shade of red. She quickly looks forward at the stage as if the graduation ceremony is the most fascinating thing ever.
Elain doesn’t note the odd behavior, instead refocusing on the Advil pills that Nesta pops into her mouth and swallows dry. “Are you still hurting?” Elain says, furrowing her thin brows. “I thought you got that problem fixed.”
Nesta tries not to snort as she accepts the bottle of water that Emerie wordlessly passes her. “You can’t ‘fix’ endometriosis, Elain. That’s not how it works.”
“Oh. Well how was I supposed to know that?”
Nesta slides unamused hooded eyes to her sister. Before she can retort anything, Emerie elbows her hard. “Look, it’s Isaac!”
She refocuses on the ceremony, cheering and clapping half-heartedly as Isaac takes the stage. It’s not that she doesn’t care about her study buddies; it’s just that she feels like shit right now.
Justinian follows suit a few minutes later, grinning and waving when he spies Emerie cheering for him. Gwyn is distracted on her phone through all of it.
The Advil has finally started to kick in when Nesta murmurs to Elain, “How is Azriel adjusting to being back in the city?”
“I don’t know what you mean,” Elain answers innocently. “I haven’t seen much of him since he returned.”
“Just spill it,” Nesta says. “Azriel wouldn’t tell me anything, so I’m assuming he’s humiliated about it.”
Elain sighs, delicately pushing her hair behind her shoulder. “He came to me to talk. I heard him out, and then we went back to his apartment for coffee, and then I took my fabric scissors and cut out the crotch from all his pants.”
Nesta raises a brow. “All of them?”
“All of them.”
Nesta shrugs, turning back to face the stage. “It’s good enough. I could have done worse.”
“Then it’s a good thing you’re not me, isn’t it?” Elain snips.
Nesta won’t say it, but she supposes she is a little happy for Elain. In fact, she thinks this might be the first time Elain has stood up for herself instead of letting Nesta handle it.
After the ceremony is over, Emerie goes off to congratulate Isaac and Justinian. Gwyn follows so she can get away from Elain, and Nesta, being sweaty and overstimulated and more than ready to leave, settles for waving her arms and grinning at the boys from across the field.
She’s about to say goodbye to Elain and make a beeline for the parking lot when she spots a head of shining red hair approaching her. No—make that two heads.
Eris looked unbearably snooty as he received his degree, likely smug with the fact that he has a comfortable job at a family friend’s corporate law firm lined up for him after he passes the Bar. Nesta admits that she’s a little disappointed in him: after all his talk of working hard and being the smartest person in the room, he ended up riding his father’s coattails to a disgustingly high salary. But maybe that is hard work for him, considering that there was such a ruckus in the Vanserra family when he chose to go into law instead of business.
As for Lucien… Well, Nesta really has no idea what the kid does, but she knows he looks good, better than the last time she saw him. An early summer tan makes him glow in comparison to his brother, while lean forearms are revealed under the rolled up sleeves of his dress shirt. He looks comfortable in a way he wasn’t at Thanksgiving all those months ago.
Even with his ex standing just a few feet away.
“Elain,” Lucien greets her with a foxlike smile.
Elain rolls her eyes in response and turns to Eris. “Congratulations on graduating, hun. Now that we’re even, kindly delete my number from your phone and never call me again.”
Even? Nesta raises a brow, wondering what that could possibly mean.
“I take it this is goodbye?” Eris tells her.
“I’m already leaving,” Elain says sweetly. She blows a kiss at Eris, then Nesta. “Feel better soon,” she chirps at her, before striding away in her pastel pink heels.
Very jealous of Elain getting to escape before she can, Nesta calls after her, “Hot date to catch?” She’s wearing the signature perfume she usually does when meeting with a man.
Elain tosses over her shoulder, “Something like that.” Her purse swings as she disappears around a corner to the parking lot.
Nesta watches her go with envy, and when she turns back she finds Eris already looking at her. Meanwhile, Lucien still has his eyes glued to the spot where Elain disappeared.
“You feel sick?” Eris asks her.
“No thank you, I have a boyfriend,” Nesta replies on instinct.
Eris scoffs once in indignation, then twice. “Don’t flatter yourself,” he says with disbelief. “I can care about my friends, you know.”
“You want her,” Lucien mutters.
Nesta’s eyes snap to Lucien, who seems to be acknowledging her presence for the first time today. “And what do you want?” She tilts her head at him, intrigued at having a new playmate. He’s less predictable than Eris, at the very least.
Lucien looks at her and offers a sheepish smile. “Nothing you can give me.”
Eris rolls his eyes at the both of them, clearly regretting bringing his brother along with him. “I’m already bored of this conversation,” he laments. “I’m out; the D.A. is here and I want to say hi. Find me when you’re done, punk.” Eris bonks Lucien on the head with his rolled up diploma and starts walking away, only pausing to extend a mocking bow to Nesta. “We’re not over yet, Archeron,” he calls as he leaves.
Now it’s Nesta’s and Lucien’s turn to roll their eyes.
With only the two of them left, Nesta feels obliged to ask awkwardly, “So… how’ve you been?”
Lucien’s gaze slides to her. “I didn’t know you were Elain’s sister,” he says.
She huffs a laugh. “I didn’t know you were her ex at first, either. Does it matter?”
Lucien’s mouth turns down in thought, but he doesn’t answer her question. “I’m doing good,” he says in response to her former question instead. “I’ve been living the nomad life, traveling around with friends, roadtripping in a van.”
But would you come home for Elain? Nesta can’t help but wonder.
She didn’t know Lucien had dated Elain until after her first meeting with him, but even then it had been something of a throwaway detail. Elain dates lots of guys, and falls in love with even more of them. She seemed to barely remember Lucien’s name when Nesta first brought it up in front of her.
But for some inexplicable reason, Nesta genuinely likes Lucien. A part of her recognizes something similar in a part of him, and it makes her sad to imagine him being stuck on a girl who won’t think about him twice.
“Take my advice,” Nesta tells him bluntly, “and move on if you haven’t yet. Staring after Elain when she already broke up with you will get you nowhere.” Elain isn’t the type to ever look back, and she never falls for the same man twice.
Lucien just looks at Nesta with a blank face. “I broke up with her,” he says.
Nesta’s mouth falls open.
“And,” he adds, “I was staring at her ass.” He starts walking backwards to his brother, giving Nesta an innocent grin as he leaves. “It was nice meeting again. See you in another six months.”
Nesta is dumbfounded watching him go, not knowing what to do with this new knowledge. As far as she knows, no one has ever broken up with Elain except for Azriel—and that ended in Az losing all of his pants.
It only occurs to Nesta that she shouldn’t have let Lucien get away with that ass comment when Emerie and Gwyn suddenly appear at her side, each of them interlocking an arm with hers. “You feeling better?” Emerie inquires cheerfully. “Ready to go?”
Nesta nods slowly, forcefully putting Lucien Vanserra and his too-sly demeanor out of her mind. He isn’t her problem right now. Summer is already here with a vengeance, and she’ll only have so much free time with the people she loves most. So she chooses to focus only on them.
Tugging her friends closer and squeezing their arms, Nesta asks, “Where are we eating?”

A/N: And so it comes to an end, and let me tell you guys, I am not okay 😔 This is going to be a bit of a longer A/N, so please bear with me. If you’d like to get straight to the story, I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND, so feel free to click Keep Reading!
Lowkey, I had a bit of a meltdown as I typed the final words on this fic because I hadn’t realized how attached I had grown to the characters. This is the first time I wrote three different chapter openers before deciding on one, because I simply couldn’t believe it was goodbye after this.
These mofos had constantly been on my mind for the past two months and a half. I would spend most days thinking about where to take them and then bringing them to life at night, after my entire day was over. When I wasn’t writing, I’d make little notes about thoughts I had into the night about them so that I wouldn’t forget them when morning comes.
This was my first ever (and as of right now, my only) chaptered fic. I had no idea parting with it would be as emotional as it was. When I think back to when I first received the prompt for this, I had never even imagined I could write Renjun, let alone a series. But there was something in the prompt that had gotten my wheels turning. And I am so immensely glad that it did. There were days when I thought “Oh man, what have I gotten myself into.” Some days, the story would just flow. Other days, I’d keep staring at the blinking cursor not knowing what to type. But when I did, I found my emotions so deeply connected with the characters. I was happy when they were happy. I was sad when they were sad. So, parting with them is very hard to say the least.
But through this journey, I got to experience the joy of reading all of your reviews and comments and honestly, it made it all worth it. THANK YOU to every single one of you that read this story and waited on it and laughed and cried with it. You have made my life better in more ways than you can imagine.
In this moment, I want to thank 🍙 anon, because it was their prompt that put me in this mess in the first place. And so, it is only fitting that I dedicate the final part to them 💛

“Oh, we definitely need a picture together. How about here? I think this place would fit everyone.” Kim Doyoung looks about, finding a spot best suited for the photo he wanted.
“I think right there on the platform would be better. We could get everyone in two tiers.” his assistant suggests.
“You’re a genius. Let’s gather everyone. It’s not often that so many NCTU grads and students come to Midnight Arthouse,” Doyoung nods.
“How many of us are here, anyway?” Renjun muses. The assistant looks at her iPad, checking once again.
“I think there’s 23 of you. So, let’s definitely go for the platform.” she nods.
“Okay, then.” Doyoung claps his hands together once, “Gather everyone,” he says to no one in particular and walks ahead with purpose. Renjun and the assistant’s eyes meet and they smirk. Of course this was directed to the both of them. So, they set about to work.
As it would turn out, gathering 23 people from a charity event with art and food and drinks would be a bit of a task. But somehow, they manage to gather all alumni and current students on the platform in three tiers instead of two for a somewhat chaotic picture. There must’ve been something in the water at NCTU because none of it’s students could stand still for very long. They get maybe one decent picture and several in which someone or the other was moving or pulling a face.
His friends aside, looking around at the group, Renjun realized that he recognized nearly all of them. Yangyang and Hendery and the rest of their frat were here. As were the 127s, old and new. Renjun recognized them all, except maybe two boys, who didn’t seem to know a lot of the others either. When the pictures were done and the main events were over and the crowd had started to dissipate, Renjun finally walked over to the artwork to observe it up close.
Honestly speaking, watching the work with his own two eyes left no doubt in his mind that this artist deserved to be spotlighted like this. This work was in a league of its own. Watching it makes Renjun smile; because looking at it makes him think back to a few months ago when he was sitting in Kim Doyoung’s office, thinking of himself as some sort of a big shot. But the truth is, there was no way he had that caliber then, and there is no way he has that caliber now, though he was sure as hell working on it.
“This is the piece I lost the bid on.” Renjun hears a voice and he turns around to see Zhong Chenle’s father observing the art with him. Renjun bows politely and smiles under his mask,
“I mean, this is a remarkable piece. You have good taste.” Renjun acknowledges.
“What about you? Why isn’t any of your artwork displayed here?” he asks and for a while, Renjun smiles a bit nostalgically. He could’ve been here, had he made something for the Annuale. Had he just selfishly taken that shot. Then again, there would’ve been no real guarantees. Because Kim Doyoung was pretty particular in the people he chose, whether they were recommended by his family or not. Working with him closely in the last couple of months had taught Renjun that. It had also taught him how underdeveloped his skill was in the real world context.
“I guess I still have a long way to go.” Renjun replies humbly.
“Don’t we all?” Chenle’s father nods, “Are you working here at this establishment?”
“Um, I… I suppose I am. I am Kim Doyoung’s apprentice. He is my mentor.” Renjun nods.
“So I might see your work here soon enough, eh?” Renjun assumes the kind man is smiling under his mask because his eyes seem to be making the same shape as Chenle’s do when he smiles. So Renjun grins back.
“I mean… if I work really hard, I might get to shoot my shot in the next Midnight Arthouse Annuale.” Renjun fantasizes.
“Or maybe you’d get lucky like this young artist,” he points his chin towards the artwork.
Renjun smiles, “I would credit her luck, too if I hadn’t seen her work. But her talent is… it kinda speaks for itself.”
“Oh, no, you should definitely credit her luck. Talent isn’t enough. The stars have to align. Luck, talent, the right place, the right time. It all has to come together.” he says nodding.
Renjun considers his words. They seem to be coming from the wisdom of experience.
What if Renjun hadn’t received the phone call about his grandma back then? Well, then he probably would’ve made something lackluster and gotten rejected. Working with Kim Doyoung has taught him as much. It didn’t matter who had put a word in for him. At the end of the day, his work had to be outclass.
What if he had received the phone call and then still had enough time to submit something for the Annuale? Then he still probably wouldn’t have because… well, because of you.
What if he had gone ahead, regardless of you or his grandma and just made something and submitted it? Then he still would’ve been rejected. Because the truth of the matter is, he just didn’t have the caliber that artists associated with Midnight Arthouse did.
In that sense, Renjun supposes everything was in fact happening at the right place and right time now. Doyoung was mentoring him and he was getting better by the day. The stars were aligning for him. He knew it in his heart.
“Then I would wish that it all comes together for me, too.” Renjun says.
“When it does, young man, I’ll be the first one to bid on your work.” he says and Renjun doesn’t even have the time to react when he feels a presence breeze in his direction and invade his personal space.
Renjun doesn’t even have to look up to know who it is. He can tell by the way this body fits perfectly into his side. He can tell by how naturally his own body responds and just puts his arm around it’s waist.
“Oh man, I missed all of it, didn’t I?” you lament, as you loop your arms around his neck from the side instead of a hello.
“Not all of it. The guys just left but your brother and his friends are still here. Besides, you had work.” Renjun turns his head and looks into your eyes to reassure you. “Y/N, this is Chenle’s father.”
“Oh, hello!” you say cheerfully and respectfully bow and give you greetings. “It is so nice to meet you. Chenle looks just like you!”
“Yes, I’ve been told I’m a more handsome version of him,” he smiles then turns to Renjun, “And who might this young lady be?”
“This is my girlfriend, Y/N. She goes to NCTU with us.” Renjun introduces you and you bow again. Oh, the thrill he got every time he got to introduce you as his girlfriend. Fuck, he’s pretty sure he’d never tire of it, even if it had just been a few months. The serotonin boost in his veins is strong and he gets the urge to squeeze you and hold you forever.
“Oh, that’s very nice. Come have a meal with us before we have to catch a plane back home, okay?” Chenle’s father invites the two of you.
“Oh, I would love to!” you say in your chipper tone before your eyes start darting around “I’m going to have to excuse myself for a little bit, I just wanna say hi to my brother.” you say and you politely bow before you start moving away.
“Babe, hang on…” Renjun says, holding you back by your hand. He brings his fingers delicately to the bridge of your nose and softly pinches down the mask over it so it sits more snugly on you. “There, it’s much safer now.” Renjun nods and watches the affectionate smile your eyes give before you move away. You looked so pretty today, even if you were just coming back from a four-hour internship. You were easily the most beautiful girl in this room, though Renjun suspected that you’d be the most beautiful girl in any room you entered.
Albeit sometimes, Renjun had to wonder if your talent or your beauty was greater. Because you had become the only junior in NCTU to land an internship at the SMK Trainee Drive. And now that you were a senior, you were somehow managing to keep your grades up alongside it.
Renjun, on the other hand, would find himself struggling with balancing his apprenticeship with his school work. So he knew firsthand how your discipline was something else altogether. Recently though, he had experienced a rise in his grades because you had been taking him on so many study dates that your organizational skills and motivation had started to rub off on him.
Renjun walks around the studio and the party and feels like it’s been too long till you’re finally back by his side.
“Love in the Time of Corona,” you read the title of an art piece displayed in front of you. “That was supposed to be our thing.”
Renjun laughs and has no qualms in looping his arms around your waist and finally pulling you into himself.
“I guess we should’ve realized then how un-novel the idea would become in a few months.” he comments.
“Un-novel is not a word, Huang Renjun.” you narrow your eyes at him.
Renjun laughs. “It is now,” he says and lets out a long exhale, “I missed you today.” he complains, though he looks down at you with warmth.
“Well, you’ve got me now. And you have me for the entire weekend.” you reassure him, your palms on his chest.
“Mhmm.” Renjun smiles and he wants to lean in to kiss you. But Kim Doyoung specifically had people assigned to walk around and make sure that everyone had their masks on when inside. “Also, we already have a thing.” he reminds you and winks.
You laugh, and say “I guess we do,” then let out a happy sigh as your eyes avert from his for a moment, taking in your surroundings. “Our Couple Thing should give you some ideas on what you can make when your work is displayed here in the 2022 Annuale. I won’t be late to that, I promise. I’ll take a day off from everything else in my life.”
Renjun's heart grows warmer still, and he’s sure his eyes reflect what he feels, “How can you be so sure my work will be displayed in the 2022 Annuale?”
“I don’t know, Huang Renjun. I just have a feeling about you.” you say and Renjun can see you smile even if your lips are covered by a mask. Your eyes always smiled before your mouth did, anyway.
“Y/N L/N, I have a feeling about you, too.” he retorts.
“And what feeling would that be?” you raise an eyebrow.
“It’s a secret.” he says, but now he sees your pout, even if he can’t see your mouth because your cheeks have puffed up over the mask. It makes him laugh.
“You’re no fun.” you protest.
“I’ll tell you once we get out of here.” Renjun offers.
“Well, I’m ready to leave.” you jut your chin up. Renjun grins and offers you his arm. You grab it with your entire body and the two of you start walking out together.
You had plans for the weekend, after all. And Renjun was determined to keep you all to himself for once, with no one else demanding your time. Not your internship, not your assignments, not any of your friends, and especially not Lee fucking Donghyuck. He was finally going to take you away where it could just be you and him and nobody else.
Tumblr media
This moment felt way too surreal to Renjun.
The campfire had simmered down from a glorious roar to a comfortable burn, giving off just enough heat in the cool of an early winter evening. The sky was in it’s fading moments, where the pink of the light was slowly turning to violets and the violets were slowly merging into darks.
Renjun remembered suggesting to you all that time ago that maybe you could go somewhere together. But now that he was here, he hadn’t imagined that the moment would feel as surreal as it did.
Because now the two of you are sitting in front of your tent by the fire, entwined in one another. You’re sitting between his legs, arms around his neck, nuzzling your cheek inside his padded jacket while he supports your head on his arm and kisses you.
He’s holding you in his arms and kissing you and everything seems so perfect that for a moment, he has to pull away to watch your face and wonder if all of this was real. And though there is a gentle smile on your face, you’re not opening your eyes much. Because you know full well that Renjun’s lips would be back on yours in no time. So you play with his hair as they fall to his forehead and when he kisses you again, you press up into him so he would wrap his arms around you and hold you tighter. He does and he rubs his hands up and down your back and attempts to close his jacket around you.
“Are you cold?” he asks lovingly. You shake your head.
“No. I just want to crawl inside you.” you say, like it’s the most logical thing to be said.
“Creepy.” Renjun remarks but holds you closer still.
“You should be happy you haven’t seen my collection of your hair clippings.” you quip as you nip into the skin of his neck.
“Oh, sweet. That rivals all your used tissues I’ve kept in my shrine at home.”
“Aww, you shouldn’t have.” you coo at him and then lean up to kiss him some more and he laughs. But soon, he pushes the arm that you were using like a pillow up so your face would be closer to his and he could kiss you as deeply as he was truly craving.
The two of you keep kissing like that till the sky is dark. It was an odd sort of trance, being so lost in one another that neither of you cared about what time it was or how long you had been sitting here, wrapped up in one another. Your phones were zipped away in your bags and you hadn’t checked them even once since you had parked your camping van and set up your tent. It was a slow, peaceful sort of bliss, just sitting by the fire and kissing and kissing with nothing else on your minds but being here like this with one another.
“Renjun?” you say, your voice sounding like it was returning from a deep thought.
“Hmm?” Renjun asks as he combs your hair away from your pretty face.
“You know, I learnt today that a cactus can live anywhere between 10 and 200 years.” you tell him, idly tracing the birthmark on the back of his hand.
Renjun leans in and presses long into your lips. “Yeah?” he replies and watches your face. It seemed hazily focused, like it was trying to catch onto a faraway thought.
“I also learnt that it can take up to 30 years for a cactus to bear flowers.” you say in an introspective, wistful tone.
Renjun looks away to hide his smile. Oh God, you were so cute. “Yeah?” he says again, but it’s getting more and more difficult to keep a serious face.
“Sometimes, a cactus doesn’t flower at all.” you say and then you turn your head to look at him like you’ve resurfaced from your thoughts and are now in the moment. Renjun’s grin grows wider. “Renjunnn…” you whine and so he has no choice but to tenderly hold your cheeks in his palms and stroke your hair.
“What?” he chuckles.
“You said you’d think you’re worthy of my forgiveness when the cactus bears flowers.” you whine again and Renjun has to plant a loving kiss to your forehead.
“Is that what I said?” he chuckles some more and then leans in to kiss the anxious realization away from your lips.
“Renjun.” you pout and Renjun laughs and takes his beautiful, whiny, kindhearted girlfriend in his arms and hopes that his hold could chase away all the worries from her pretty, brilliant mind.
He kisses you because his heart can’t bear it any longer. How did he manage to hold a heart like yours in his hand?
Renjun feels an indescribable amount of happiness. Like he wasn’t sure that you were really here with him, in his arms, all for him to hold, with no worry or burden afflicting him. The happiness is so immense and so incredible and so heavy that for a moment, he feels it suffocating him. He wonders if he deserved this kind of happiness.
But right in the next moment, he stops himself. He knew how easy it was to relapse into those tempting, lonesome thoughts. But if there was anything that therapy was teaching him, it was that of course he deserved happiness.
Though right now, holding you in his arms, this happiness was choking him. He felt like his heart was swelling and pressing against his lungs and his chest couldn’t bear it and he could no longer breathe.
“Y/N…” he exhales, holding you back so he can look at your face and you could look up into his. He pauses to gather another breath. Then, he just says it. “I love you.”
And doing so does the trick. He feels his chest slowly getting lighter, because this is what it had been bursting with. Now, he’s told you. Now, it can be unburdened.
You look up at him and there is nothing but a sparkle in your eye, and tenderness in your smile. For a while, you say nothing, just looking upon his eyes like that. “Thank you.” you finally whisper back at him.
Renjun pauses for a moment. But then, he relaxes. This was okay. You didn’t have to say it back right away. Renjun was ready to give you as much time as you needed. So he presses his lips into your forehead once again till he feels you laughing against him. He pulls back in confusion and you grab at the lapel of his parka.
“Huang Renjun…” you say and he looks back at you with uncertainty, “... I love you, too.”
And Renjun can’t help it if he kisses you too hard. He can’t help it that he’s squeezing you too tight. He wouldn’t care if the night brightens back into morning and the morning fades back into night. He was going to hold you just like this for the rest of his life.
So he lays you down and kisses you deeper, like he wanted to make up for all the time he had lost. All the time in his life when he hadn’t known you. All the time he had known you and didn’t let himself have you. He was going to make up for it all. And as he zips the tent up and shields you from the rest of the world, he wonders if he could spend all of his days just like this. Holding you and loving you and knowing that you loved him back; and if he could, today was a damn good day to start.
The fire slows to a simmer till all that’s left are embers that keep being carried away by the breeze. But the two of you remain inside, in your own world, happy that you had found one another, happy that you could finally have one another. Happy that you could hold one another and say that you loved each other and have nothing in the world hold you back, not now, not ever.
You were Y/N and Renjun, Renjun and Y/N, two names that were forever intertwined because that’s how people would call you now. You were the couple that belonged so perfectly with one another that people would wonder if you’d been together for years. And any time someone with a burning curiosity would come up to you and ask,
“So, where did you guys meet?” you would just look at one another, smile and say, “Well, we met in online class.”

Previous Part || Shut In Masterlist
The nostalgia was strong.
The last time you and Sam were sitting like this, you were deciding on what to make of the bread supply that was now dwindling. The soup had ran out maybe a day or two ago and you were left with just bread, peanut butter and jelly.
You two had to devise an escape plan. You’d been there long enough and now with Sam making his first public appearance as Mob’s Most Wanted, even if it was for a good cause, there was no doubt that people would be after you.
“What if we go back to Ransone and let the rest sort itself out along the way?”
You made a note of it on the paper but you weren’t very convinced with the idea, not with the realisations you had made along the way.
“Do we know any other hideouts?” you asked instead, tapping the pencil against the paper.
“None that you don’t already know.” He chewed on his lip thoughtfully. “What are your thoughts on caves? Think we can make a bed outta some leaves?”
You wrote down ‘Sam’s cave idea’, just to humour him. Stupid, but more plausible than other options.
“If we make a run for it, what are the chances we’ll survive?”
“With law enforcement, civilians and gang members looking for us, I’d give us about-” you said candidly, “-two months. Three max.”
It wasn’t like you had no experience running from the state, but it was never on this scale.
“We’d have years if it was only law enforcement, but we had to go get the entire fuckin’ mafia involved,” he huffed in annoyance.
An idea occurred to you that made you pause, but you hated it.
“What if we split up?” you suggested halfheartedly. “It’ll take them more time to find the both of us, if they’re looking for us together.”
When he didn’t reply, you looked up at him from the sheet in front of you.
“We’re not splitting up,” he began steadily, just as you knew he would. “The same people who are after you are after me. We need to stick together.”
“I know. I’m not saying we can’t meet again after that, I’m saying that maybe it’ll be easier for us to hide.”
He couldn’t deny that it wasn't the worst idea, but something didn’t sit right with him. He didn’t want to do it.
“Okay, then how do we find each other after that? When? I don’t have your email; fuck that, I don’t even have your number.”
“We’ll schedule it, I guess,” you murmur, trying to work out the logistics. “Whoever gets there late has to buy ice cream. And I’m particular about the flavour I like.”
You tried to lighten up the mood but he wasn’t having it, as much as he appreciated it.
“I don’t care if it’s more difficult,” he said slowly. “But I’d like us to stick together. Not until we’re out of this mess. Then if you want to never see my face again, which you shouldn’t because it’s beautiful, we’ll go our different ways.”
He was adamant about it, and you knew he’d argue and poke holes into the plan until it didn’t make sense anymore. You weren’t going to argue.
“Okay,” you accepted. “We stick together.”
A smile spread across his face which equated to one of triumph. “You got any other ideas?”
“We stay right here and fight off whoever comes.”
It was dumb. This place wasn’t yours, and staying here would be a death wish. That didn’t stop you from saying it since neither of you were holding back on implausible ideas.
“This is our house now,” Sam added with determination, playing along.
“Damn right,” you affirmed, cracking a smile at him.
Bringing your attention back, you stared at the list. There is one option you wanted to explore but you weren’t sure if you could because you didn’t have the resources. But he may.
“You got any friends whose help we could use?” you asked cautiously, unsure of how this would play out.
He continued chewing on his lip for a second like he was analysing all options, before nodding.
“I got a friend. Well, my only friend,” he corrects himself. “His name’s Riley.”
“He got a place we can stay, this Riley?”
“He does. But I don’t want to involve him. He’s-” he paused, trying to find the right words to frame what he’s thinking “-he’s been through a lot.”
“We’ll leave him alone then,” you assured, realising that it must be a touchy topic for him.
Sam didn’t move on, though.
“I’m all ears if you want to talk,” you offered.
He pressed his lips together, giving you a tight smile. He looked like he wanted to say more but was holding back. You reciprocated, hoping it would give him some reassurance, noting how he exhaled softly.
“When I joined the cartel, I didn’t really have anyone to talk to since everyone was much older than I was. Riley was the first friend I made. He was a mouthy li’l one.” Sam smiled wistfully and you found yourself smiling with him. “He talked so much shit and he had the spunk to back it up but he never really got that far because no one wanted to test their luck with him.”
“We spent whatever free time we had together. He didn’t have a family so he and I-” he trailed off but you knew what he was getting at. “Ransone found out. Didn’t like anyone in his stupid squad becoming all buddies because if we turned against him, he knew he’d lose.”
Shared experience. You didn’t have any friends in the organization either; they were always separated from you willingly or by force. You wondered if that’s why you had taken such a liking towards Sam, knowing fully well that it was the first time in years you were able to be friends with someone without having to worry.
“He started pittin’ us against one another. Combat training, preferential treatment, just plain out sabotage. Riley’s the reason my back’s all kinds of fucked up.” He gave a short laugh. “Tried everything he could to make sure we’d stay away or even kill each other if it came to that.”
“But you didn’t.”
“But we didn’t,” he confirmed. “Ransone fuckin’ hated it, so one day, he decided that he’s going to finish it once and for all. Sent us on a fake mission so that we’d be alone together, then told us that only one of us could come back. One of us had to die or else both of us would. Some sick fuckin’ form of entertainment.”
It was exactly something that Ransone would do. Dramatic, vile and utterly despicable, just for his own joy,
Your eyebrows knit together when his eyes glazed over.
“Riley, he- he didn’t even let me have at the gun. Just straight up chose for the both of us that he was going to be the one who died. He was so tired, of everythin’.” The muscles in your jaw tightened at where this was going. “He didn’t do it though. We figured out another way.”
You didn’t realise how tensed you were until you forced yourself to relax.
“Faked his death.” He shrugged. “It was the only way. Let Ransone believe he bled out and that I buried him behind the warehouse he sent us to. Shot him in the leg to make it look convincing. He’s still got a limp.”
“He made a run for it. Found himself a place in New Orleans, changed his identity, basically made turned into a whole new person. Ransone bought it for a while because I’d make it a point to visit the grave, leave some flowers and shit. Told him that if he messed with it that I’d put a bullet in his head and I was angry enough for him to see that I wasn’t kidding. I knew he’d figure it out eventually but I was hoping I’d get rid of him by then.”
“He lived in New Orleans for years. Never had a problem until recently.”
Sam paused for a second, but it gave you the time to pull up an old conversation you had with him.
“He’s the one Ransone threatened you with,” you connected the dots. “He’s the one he found.”
“Said he’d kill him if I didn’t take out Pierce for him,” his words were bitter, confirming what you said. “Sent me a picture of him in front of his house to prove it.”
“Fuckin’ hell,” you breathed, leaning back. Sam’s situation was more dangerous than you initially thought. Having Riley in the picture just made it more difficult to help Sam get out of the organization, especially since he was now leverage material.
“You asked me once what the scariest thing I had done was.” You didn’t get immediately what he was talking about until you remember the questions you had asked to get to know him better. “It was that. Getting him out of this life and trying not to get caught in the process.”
You didn’t know what to say.
“He’s the only family I got left.” The way his voice dropped made him sound so tired. “He’s already on their radar. If they find out I’m staying with him or that he’s helping in any way, they’ll kill him.”
You didn’t say anything, not like you had anything constructive to offer at that moment.
“That got dark real quick,” he remarked, the corners of his lips quirking upward.
Clearly he didn’t have anyone to talk to about this. To explain the entire thing from the beginning must have drained him completely.
“I’m sorry that you had to go through that,” you said quietly.
He paused for a second, looking like he was thinking to himself.
“Me too.”
______
The sky’s beautiful, you decide.
You could stare at the clouds for hours.
Which is what the both of you have been doing.
“If you fucking say it’s anything other than a dog, I’ll push you off the roof myself.”
“It’s clearly a penguin, Samuel.”
“I hate you.”
The cement was cool against your skin even though there was a blanket serving as a mediator between you and it. The sun nipped at your skin and your back was aching from staying in the same place for a prolonged period.
Sam tended to think better when he was outside, unconstrained by harsh white walls and artificial light. So you grabbed a spare blanket, a bottle of water and the ladder to haul the both of you to the roof. It was filthy, as you expected but you managed to tidy a part of it to the best of your ability before laying the blanket down.
“I know why you brought me up here, Y/N,” he piped up.
You just knew that when you needed some space, he often implored you to go outside. You figured the best way to help him was to do the same, not knowing what else you could have to give.
“Just wanted to let you know that I appreciate it,” he added.
Okay good. It helped.
“That’s a tree.” You pointed upwards, avoiding his gaze.
“You get three more seconds to change that answer to a table.”
“That looks nothing like a table. You’re delusional.”
He laughed, not offering a counter argument.
The outside did him good. He was calmer than when you first came here a few hours ago. He didn’t let his spite towards Ransone show very often, especially at this volume. Talking about Riley only reaffirmed how much he despised the man.
“We need to get out of here eventually, you know?” you mused.
You don’t want to. You don’t want to admit that saying it out loud made it worse.
“We do,” he sounded sure and you wondered if he ever felt bad about it too, “but we need a proper plan.”
The clouds shifted. It looked like a kid on a bike; not that you’d ever tell him. He would never agree.
“We need help,” you stated.
“We can’t.” You knew he’d say that.
“You know we do, Sam.”
“There’s no one out there we can trust.”
You liked that he used ‘we’. The only other times you had been referred to as ‘we’ had been for things so sinister, so violent.
His elbow was touching yours lightly. You wanted to move closer, press against him.
“There’s one person who might be able to.”
He turned to look at you questioningly. You did the same.
You waited till he figured it out on his own. His face shifted the minute it clicked in his head.
“No way.” He turned away, almost laughing out of bewilderment.
“It’s our only option.”
“Then we’ll find another one,” he began to sound more insistent, realising you were being serious. It was a crazy idea, you’d give him that, but it’s the only one you had that had a sure shot of working.
“We’ve tried. You’ve tried. There’s only one way,” you knew that getting annoyed wouldn’t get through to him and you also understood his hesitations. “He’ll help.”
“We don’t know that. It’s too fuckin’ dangerous.” He couldn’t afford that; not this late in the game.
“I know it. Lis- Sam. Look at me,” you commanded gently, and he obeyed reluctantly. “I understand that this is absolutely batshit wild, but I promised I’d help you. This is the only way I can think of. But I need you to trust me.”
He looked unsettled.
He didn’t have anything to go on. Only your word and his faith in you. He could say no and he knew you’d spend countless hours pouring over multiple options just to find another way. He could say no and you’d take it in stride and he wouldn’t have to worry about it. It wasn’t about trusting you, it was about not trusting the others.
But he could also say yes and let you take control, trust your instincts. You had never let him down before and he knew you wouldn’t now. He could say yes and help you work on one solid plan that had equal chances of failing as it did being a success, but it was something that you could be sure of.
“I’ll tell you this though, Sam. You always have a choice.”
He felt your fingers trace at his face patiently. He scooted closer, letting your bodies press gently against each other.
“Okay,” he whispered. “I trust you.”
He didn’t know if he made the right choice or not, but the smile that appeared on your face made him think that maybe he did.
God, he was done for.
___
“You ready?” you asked him.
“No, but what the hell; let’s do it.”
You let it ring right to the very end.
“Hello.” It seemed gratuitous at this point because you knew the conversation wouldn’t proceed with that.
“Code?”
“1993.”
“Y/N. Hello,” his voice came back loud and clear.
“Hey.” You snuck a glance at Sam. He was completely stiff.
“How are you?”
“I’ve been… good,” you admitted.
“Oh?” he sounded amused. “That’s a change.”
“Yeah.” You shifted on your feet awkwardly. “Listen, I need help.”
“Help with?”
“We need to get out of here. We can’t do it without you. I mean we can, but it’d be better if you lent a hand.”
“When you say ‘we’, you’re referring to…”
“Me.” Sam stepped forward towards the phone. You shifted it so it was between you.
“Oh, hello,” he sounded surprised, and he had good reason to be. “You know about-”
“Yeah, I do.”
“Y/N, you trust him?”
“Yeah,” you looked up at Sam, “I do.”
“Alright. If shit goes wrong, you’re both fucked. I’m not taking any responsibility.”
“We get that,” you sighed. “Can you help or not?”
There was a momentary silence on the other end as he thought.
“Tell me what you had in mind.”
“We got a hit.”
They turned away from their conversation with the person walking beside them at the interruption.
“This better be important.” They gestured to their companion who looked annoyed at being interrupted. He was too dangerous to have on anyone’s bad side but the agent didn’t care. This was crucial.
“Someone saw him. Wilson.” He was breathless from the flight of stairs he had run to come upstairs.
“Where?” They could hardly believe their ears, restraining to contain the excitement that was threatening to rise.
“A town, miles away from Pierce’s place. Said he roamed around looking for a store, bought some food and then left.” His eyes shone. “We think we might know where they are. A rough sketch at least. Couldn’t follow him too far because he kept checking.”
“Finally,” their face gleamed, completely discarding the guest they had and the confusion on his face. “Some good fucking news.”
“Do you want us to put a hit out on them?” The relief the agent felt was almost overwhelming. His partner may have died but it didn’t look like he was going to.
“No,” they said crisply, certainly. “This one’s on me.”

More fnaf doodles + maybe some ramblings
Tumblr media
Going to post this one first because the second one would kind of not make sense.
Anyway I kinda dislike how Will is being used in the fnaf ' main' story ( whatever even the f*** that is because it's Five Nights at Freddy's the story doesn't make sense and yes I'm talking about both the games and the books) at this point he kind of feels overused and he feels 1 dimensional to me if that makes sense. (I also hate the ' wanting to become immortal' trope.)
So me being me, I decided to make my own au,
I'll touch more on this later down the post and put it under a read more so no one has to scroll past it if they don't want to read it.
Tumblr media
Ay 1:00am doodles, my old enemy.
I added the post above because in this one you can see me rambling on about the color association thing changing.
Let's see, we got a nightmare segment, some Silhouettes and head busts, glitchtrap because I started to develop an interest in them, at the bottom we have a 8-bit styled headcanon I thought of... is it headcanon or just more part or the au???
Anyway to explain it , I find it very hard to believe that William was still alive after being springlocked a second time for a total of 30 years while locked inside of the safe room...
So I had it to where he did survive the second spring locking but this one completely messed his s*** up... like you can see in the dialogue that is probably hard to read... he couldn't move, see or speak...( muscles required for moving probably Torn To Hell and back, human eyeballs are quite fragile things so those got obliterated leaving him blind, and apparently he wouldn't have been able to scream because the spring locks would have jacked up his vocal cords bad enough to prevent him from actually screaming)
So he was stuck in that state for about a week or two before finally deceasing and then possessing the suit and rotting in that room for 30 years, the thing killing him being infection because tetanus from rusted cover spring locks or starvation.
Tumblr media
Security breach doodle, a lot of people were disappointed with the burntrap boss fight + ending and honestly so as I.
So I made a shity redesign. One that keeps the theme of the boss is starting off nice shiny and clean before ultimately getting absolutely wrecked.
Like having glitchtrap manifest in a Glam Rock styled body at the beginning of the boss fight with Freddy fighting him while Gregory deals with the other animatronics under his control and then at some point maybe the kid being the feral Goblin he is, find some conveniently placed oil cans and a lighter or matches... and does to glitchtrap what has happened to the poor bastards past incarnations of getting lit up... But! Instead of going down and calling it the end the second part of the fight begins except glitchtraps body is now what you would see on the right of the picture looking similar to how his soul Sprite looked in Princess Quest...( although I'm pretty sure the fumes of melted plastic or whatever they're made of would be awful to experience and bad for your lungs)
Anyway I'm not creative enough to figure out how the rest of that would go but he would probably end up dying anyway only to come back later in a different game because that's kind of the theme of this whole franchise now it seems.
Anyway here's my au William basics
He had a really rough childhood in the UK, and pretty much got out of there as soon as he was of age. And made a vow to himself to never become like his own father ( spoiler he doesn't keep it)
Blah blah after getting situated in America, he goes to college and meets Henry and they become best Pals, and after graduation they start having plans and ideas that starting a diner together to bring joy to kids and families alike.
At some point he meets his wife, doesn't know how to deal with love and is a complete mess about it but the cute dorky kind, and yada yada they start dating and even have double dates with the Emily couple...then boom, they marry. And have little Michael on the way.
Restaurant opens up after will's second kid is born, and everything is going fantastic! what wait a minute he gets springlocked for the first time but don't worry survives! And things go back to normal as well as the arrival of his third kid.
Unfortunately his wife dies, but that's okay he can handle taking care of three children and parts of a business establishment. And for the most part it seems like everything is under control and he's very much like that of a regular single dad taking care of three kids...
The bite of 83 happens, it's his youngest son, but is was a accident he has to keep telling himself, have to keep telling a distressed Michael that it was an accident after all he didn't know.
The house is quiet after the funeral, everyone is tense and usually stay locked up in their rooms. Things are getting more difficult than he remembered, it was an accident it was an accident no one's to blame no one's to blame.
His head feels likes it's under water, the house feels more empty then is was, and hallways seemed to stretch out infinitely into the void. He can't sleep well at night anymore, how could he? Every time he shut his eyes all he would see where those happier brighter times those times that were no longer here...! The small smile under tear filled eyes that were no longer here! He misses him...god he misses him...but it seems the would didn't care...he had to wear a mask and go about as if everything was fine! But he wasn't fine...he was starting to sink...
OK I'm going to stop there because I very quickly went off topic...
Anyway William was a regular guy but slowly began descending into madness which only got worse and worse after accidentally discovering remanent which really set the marbles loose.
To simply put he slowly becomes less human while still alive but after dying in the spring lock suit and rotting all those years definitely made things worse as it began to temper with his memories by scratching them away...and by fnaf 6 he's something that can't really be identified as once Being Human ( this is where his story ends in the living world)
By all means I'm not trying to justify his actions because kid killing is bad.
Also in this au, glitchtrap is technically not him.
It started off as a tiny fracture of his soul before eventually beginning to develop into its own being... and it hasn't retained any of his memories except remembering the fire.
I'll maybe touch up on this later if I have no motivation.
