Hey so you know how in the Izuru-Fuyuhiko conversation, Izuru assumes Fuyuhiko intends to use Izuru for his talents? And Fuyuhiko refutes that like right away. Based on the recent art you made, do you have any thoughts on Izuru making himself useful (as a meat shield apparently) anyway? Izuru usefulness complex vs. Fuyuhiko 'people arent tools' complex or something like that? Sorry if this is a strange ask to get out of the blue haha I am interested in the narrative.

Ok so this is a FANTASTIC question and it took all my restraint not to send back an entire essay lmao💛💛💛 (correction^ I wrote 544 words of this so, maybe a LITTLE bit of an essay)

So, here are my thoughts on Izuru and Fuyuhiko's potential relationship in DRS:US:

I feel like the reason that Izuru may in fact stay with Fuyuhiko in this scenario (I mean, he outright says that if he were told to be free without orders he would probably just disappear overseas and cut contact,) is Fuyuhuko’s resolve not to use Izuru for his talents. I think that, in one way or another, this wont sit right with Izuru, who can easily reason out the fact that he’s a passive force until acted upon, and if acted upon (or used) for the good of humanity, that would have an overall better net benefit to the world than valuing his independence and letting his talents go to waste. As little as Izuru seems to care about anything, the thought process behind letting him do whatever he wants and not like, idk, make him cure cancer, is an absolutely atrocious error in judgement and has to be the fault of some under-developed moral code of Fuyuhuko’s. I think this intrigue is part of why Izuru would want to stay with Fuyuhuko: to see how long it will take for Fuyu, given ample opportunity, to abandon his personal code and start using Izuru (weather for humanity’s benefit or his own).

Note: I also think this is why Izuru would “make himself useful” (like the meat shield incident). By showing how much he could benefit Fuyuhiko when his talents are used, he’s subtly testing his resolve to keep refraining from doing so.

On the FLIP side we have Fuyuhiko, who’s honestly got a point. He’s definitely not thinking of it in the same big moral strokes that Izuru is, but he is thinking of the basic gist of it: What should you value more, a person’s freedom or the good they can do? In his (learned) opinion, the value a person’s life has and the potential they have for good aren’t exclusive, but that person needs to do the good on their own for it to have meaning. His relationship with Peko comes to mind hard here as someone who has been given a role and carried it out perfectly, denying their own free will in the process. Fuyu doesn’t go through the same lesson in the same way as DR2, but it’s clear that he’s coming to similar conclusions about valuing Peko’s free will in their DRUS interactions. I feel like, similarly, Fuyu would just want Izuru to start giving a damn about being used by people and stop treating himself like a means to an end.

So, does this turn into a genuine friendship? Something more?... Maybe??? I see a lot of interpretations of Izuru’s character were he’s an unfeeling machine, which I personally really dislike. I mean, the man has enough emotion to be bored by being unable to be surprised by anything anymore. He does Cry, even if he doesn’t know why. In my eyes, Izuru is mentally incredibly developed, but emotionally underdeveloped because of his emphasis on learning and usefulness since his ‘creation’. So, these two’s relationship is both ambiguous and up for interpretation, but I do think it has room for Izuru to come to understand Fuyuhuko’s thinking and maybe even start caring for him eventually. Honestly it’s all up to your personal interpretation of Izuru’s character!

But yea, those are just my thoughts! Let me know Your own interpretation!! I love these characters and always wanna hear other people's thoughts on them!!! 💛

An Alfabusa Fan's Retrospective

So, lets start out easy with where I started: Like many people it was with "If The Emperor Had A Text To Speech Device". The first few episodes really betray how it all began: A bunch of /tg/ nerds (or at least /tg/ adjacent) fucking around making in lore jokes about how pissed the Emperor would be. You can tell very quickly though that something changed. They stop using slurs by like the 5th episode (or at least real life ones that still are being used to harm people). And then eventually all those bits of "Haha gay people" were recycled into a slow burn, likely gonna be tragic arc of two people who never had a chance to be together falling for each other. And of course, the custodes being given the "Its not cause you are gay, its not even cause you like showing your muscles off, its cause you are an asshole" treatment". It was fun to watch this silly parody turn into a real plot that wanted you to take it at least somewhat serious. It was also honestly pretty touching to see the creators become more aware people and to see things previously used for cheap jokes turn into real drama, instead of just a bunch of jokes where the punchline is a slur. And then there's Hunter the Parenting. See, TTS was in a lot of ways a test run. It might not have been that originally, but it was where a lot of the growth as artists that the crew went through happened. It was also their test run for making things bright and cheery and even fun without qualifier in a grimdark setting. But Hunter the Parenting is what they made with all that knowledge already in the bag. And WOW does it fuckin do it well. Its got action, mystery, intrigue, interpersonal drama, a canon gay couple who are totally not Kitten and Magnus made into normal people and who are canonically gay at each other in the first episode. Its also one giant mess of WoDfans kinda knowing what's happening behind the scenes and the authors making it even more fun when they give us more hints that imply its way bigger than what we began to imagine. There's something for everyone, aside from the homophobes, and that's beautiful in my eyes. And then there's Zero Viscosity. The Halflife Fanfic I didn't know I needed but now am excitedly wanting more of. They got the vibes down perfect, they know more lore than I ever will about that series, and they are having fun with the narrative sandbox that valve constructed for themselves. Its deeply fun to see the differences in perspectives at play between characters, and that punkish vibe of a bunch of weirdos society would reject under any other circumstances slowly finding themselves in situations where heroism is necessary.

Over all, Alfabusa content has been a wild ride where the people behind the name seem genuinely interested in being better people and making better and better work. It shows in the timeline of their work clearly, and I am excited to see where it goes in the future. They are some of the few creatives that can immediately and heavily get me invested in something new before I even see it and its cause they simply do not fucking miss with their core shit, and even when they miss with the peripherals they always try to make up for it. The list of people who can say that in my mind is fucking tiny and they are up there on it.

“Oh? To hide my face.” He responded. I rolled my eyes at him standing up and walking in front of him as I raised my head to look him in his eyes.

“Well duh...I’m asking if you ever take it off?” I lifted my hands to cup his face in a way to take off his mask as he broke eye contact and moved my hands as he raised his own hands to his mask. “Never thought you’d try n make a first move on me love.” He then finally pulled his mask off and I saw his face. I admired every inch of him.

“Wow…You really aren’t ugly.” I joked at him as I stood on my tippy toes to cup his face and run my fingers along all the scars. “Haha, very funny.” He then inched his face closer to mine. I think I've got a pretty good scenario depicting this in short or really how it would begin

Going to be writing this and any Y/n interactions in a more modern au/sort of Isekai take (Monkey King wakes up from mediation in a completely new cave and y/n finds him there and takes him home) Mainly because I am a sucker for the fish-out-of-water trope, that's the good stuff!

Y/n is sitting on large bean bag in their room, watching some videos on their phone. Monkey King walks in he looks to them

"Whatcha doin?"

Y/n looks up at him and says they're just watching some stuff and he's welcome to watch with them if he'd like. He shrugs

"Nah I'll pass."

Monkey King sits on the very very edge of the bean bag, tending to stick and giving it a few twirls. He looks over to Y/n's phone out of curiosity. Y/n looks over to him, and they ask him why he is sitting so far away from them. Monkey King rolls his eyes,

"I'm just getting some buffs outta stick. Don't wanna intrude on, whatever it is you're doing."

Y/n says that they don't bite and he can sit closer if he wants to. Monkey King huffs a bit and reluctantly sits a little bit closer. As time goes on, he puts Stick down and inches closer and closer in order to see what y/n is watching. Soon enough, and he hardly even notices it, he gets so close to the point that his head is practically resting on y/n's shoulder. Y/n chuckles a bit and playfully nuzzles his face. Monkey King recoils and gives y/n a rather perturbed expression.

"OK then! Like I said, didn't wanna get in your space."

Y/n looks back at him and apologizes, they just thought it was funny how close he was and jokingly say that he's so close that he's practically snuggling up to them. Monkey King immediately retracts and starts to huff and puff with a sarcastic tone,

"Well, I'm sure if I knew what that meant I would be super offended!"

Y/n's happy expression swiftly turns to confusion and asks if he knows what snuggling is. Monkey King shakes his head, Y/n asks about cuddling, and Monkey King shakes his head, they ask about Nuzzling? Monkey King thinks for a second, kind of shrugs but still shakes his head. Y/n is of course completely baffled by this new information.

They put their phone down, turn to him, and start to explain it. After the explanations, Monkey King simply raises an eyebrow and retracts his head back. He doesn't know how to feel about this, part of him is very intrigued by it but the other part of him, the whole "this monkey hero's alone", pushes the feeling away. He stifles a laugh and just kind of shrugs it off,

"Pfft, sound's pretty sappy! I don't think that's happening anytime soon, definitely not what I was going for, sorry to get your hopes up haha!"

Y/n shrugs it off and picks their phone back up continuing to watch the video they were watching. After a bit of time, y/n remembers that they could hear Monkey King stirring a lot in his sleep, sometimes even growling or snapping his teeth. They ask him if he's been having nightmares. Monkey King sort of tenses up but quickly rolls the feeling off his shoulders.

"Nah! Just dreaming about kicking demon butt! Nothing can shake me up, need I remind you I took on a dragon king and heaven all in the same day? You think a little nightmare can rile me up? Hah! think again." He turns away from y/n and picks Stick back up. His confidence fades from his face.

Y/n suggests that, if he ever were to have nightmares he is more than welcome to tell them. Y/n says whenever they have nightmares, they tend to snuggle either their stuffed animals or pillows that they have and that tends to help a lot. Monkey King shakes his head, still avoiding eye contact, his voice a bit defensive

"I can take care of myself. I've done it for this long, not gonna stop now."

Later on, in the dead of the night, Monkey King wakes up from another nightmare. He sits up on the large bean bag and tries to keep his labored breathing to himself so as not to wake up Y/n. He manages to somewhat calm down but, he's still on edge. He remembers what y/n had mentioned earlier that day. But, he didn't want to feel weak, to feel like he needed to depend on someone. He's taken care of himself for so long, he should be able to manage this himself. He looks at of y/n's stuffed animals and thinks to himself,

"Well… I mean, they're asleep, They'll never know."

Reluctantly, he plucks up one of y/n's stuffed animals and grips it tightly. But of course, to no avail this is help at all, it only makes his desperation stronger. He tosses the stuffed animal to the side and looks at y/n, still fast asleep with their arm wrapped around a large pillow. He quietly walks over to Y/n's bed, a quiet grumble in his throat. He sticks his tongue out and softly bites it as he tries to think. How can he get close without them waking up? He gets an idea and puts it into action. He grabs the pillow y/n is holding and tries to slowly take it from them.

Y/n adjusts themselves in their sleep and Monkey acts faster. He snatches the pillow from them, crawls under their arm, and lays down with his back turned to them. His ear flicks to see if y/n has woken up from any of that. They sigh in their sleep and wrap their arms around Monkey King, holding him close. Monkey's whole body stiffens up as his fur bristles to their soft touch. Is this, are they snuggling? His mind starts to race with a never-ending barrage of worries:

"Does this make me a wuss? They'll never let me live this down if they find out! What am I doing?! This was a horrible idea!"

Just before his worries his their peak, he gains clarity again by y/n softly nuzzling his back. His muscles start to relax as he faintly sighs, maybe, just for tonight. One night. His eyes start to feel more heavy and he quickly drifts off to sleep.

Yuki: It was a fun little party. I'll bring you one again when ŹOOĻ’s around next time.

Pineapple Vendor: Flowers? There are hydrangeas over at Yángmíng shān (Yangming Mountains), it’s a popular tourist destination!

Izumi Iori: Hydrangeas... That's what they meant by flowers.

Pineapple Vendor: There's a pamphlet of the Yangming mountains over at the Taiwanese tea shop! It’s a store with a bear in its sign!

Yuki: They have a map.

Izumi Iori: Let's go to the shop with the bear sign!

Yuki: ...Ah, there it is. A shop with a huge bear sign.

Izumi Iori: I-I’m glad it's very easy to spot.

Inumaru Touma: Wow, smells really good here...! I'm curious about the pamphlet too, but I feel like buying something!

Yuki: Each of the tea packages has a picture of a bear on it.

Inumaru Touma: Haha! This sleeping bear is super chill! It even has a balloon sticking out of its nose!

Izumi Iori: How cu-

Izumi Iori: What an unusual design. This might be well received as a souvenir.

Inumaru Touma: For sure! As expected of you, Izumi. You already put it in your basket ready to buy it!

Izumi Iori: Well, our group has a lot of people so I need to buy more souvenirs.

Yuki: I think I’ll buy a few as well...Oh, this bear over here has hydrangeas.

Tea Shop Attendant: Welcome! That's sweet tea. Only available this time of year!

Yuki: Limited edition. I'll buy it.

Inumaru Touma: Impromptu decision!

Yuki: The fact that you can only get it now makes it more enticing, doesn't it?

Inumaru Touma: Now that you mention it... I want one...! I'll buy one too!

Tea Shop Attendant: Thank you!

Izumi Iori: ...We almost forgot the original purpose of our visit. We were told there's a pamphlet for Yángmíng shān here. May we have one?

Tea Shop Attendant: We do! Here you go!

Yuki: Wow, the cover is a field of hydrangeas. They look like a carpet.

Inumaru Touma: Then this must be the location for the mission...!?

Izumi Iori: The mode of transportation is... a bus.

Yuki: A bus? Yay.

Tea Shop Attendant: The hydrangeas are beautiful! Enjoy Yángmíng shān!

A poly relationship with Eddie Munson & Steve Harrington headcanon-Two Loves, One Heart

This is just a few ideas of how I’d imagine this poly relationship going. I recently binged & finished Stranger Things and was intrigued with Steve (he caught my attention in season three) then Eddie came along in season four and I was intrigued and may have a crush on the Steddie ship haha. For the purposes and content of this fic, reader, Steve, and Eddie are in their early-twenties (around 22-24) and everyone is a consenting adult in this relationship. Anyways, I hope you enjoy just some drabbled thoughts and there may be some slight spoilers if you squint. Also, please don’t just leave a like but also reblog! Lots of cuddles are involved. Sometimes you'll end up spooning Eddie, your head resting on his chest and Steve would wrap around behind you. They'd both love running their fingers through your hair, pressing soft kisses to your skin as well.

Many iterations of this arrangement would happen with each one of you in a different spot in any given time, though you secretly like to be sandwiched between both of them. It makes you feel safe and wanted.

In the beginning both Eddie & Steve wondered how to tell Dustin about this arrangement, not thinking he’d figured it out.

Dustin was actually the one to ask you about it then you tell him how you really love both of them and were together with them. “Are you sure you’re okay with this, Dustin?” You had asked, knowing how much Eddie and Steve meant to him. “Am I okay with this?” Dustin practically screeched, crashing into your arms, wrapping you up in a tight hug. “It’s like I get another bonus parent, no even better, I have another friend! You’ve always been so cool and so awesome!” Dustin is practically beaming at this point when Eddie and Steve walk in.

“Dustin, listen,” Steve sighs, Eddie sauntering behind him. “We’ve gotta tell you...”

“IT’S SO COOL YOU GUYS!” Dustin barges into them almost sending them flying across the floor. “I know guys, it’s not like you were being that subtle anyways.” Dustin shrugs, and a blush creeps up on Steve’s face while Eddie ruffles Dustin’s curls then rubs a hand along his neck bashfully as he looks at the floor.

You can’t help but smile, happy to be surrounded by your friends and those who you love, being so welcoming and accepting.

Eddie would put eyeliner on Steve and take him to metal concerts for one of their dates.

“Eddie, is this really necessary?” Steve whines and you chuckle. “You two will have so much fun.”

“Yeah, Stevie boy, we gotta show Dustin how metal we can be!” Eddie cackles, tossing aside the eyeliner to do his signature devil horn gesture, tongue sticking out chaotically. You have to admit it’s a good look.

Eddie would definitely show both you and Steve how to play DnD, but would start you at a much less advanced level than Dustin and his friends.

Lots of these dnd sessions involve Steve wanting to seduce something and Eddie has to physically try not to bang his head on the table in frustration.

Eddie sighs, “No Steve for the fourth time you cannot roll to seduce the elf. She is not the key to bypassing the troll.”

“Why not?” Steve retorts, “It makes sense to distract the elf then smack them with a bat to get through the door.” Steve looks at you, eyes pleading to help back him up.

“Eddie, what do I need to open the door?” You ask. Eddie smirks, “atta girl, roll a 4 and then we’ll see.”

Steve groans in frustration, burying his fingers in his hair. “You mean the door could’ve been open this WHOLE TIME?” “I never said it was locked, genius,” Eddie chortles right as you roll the 4 you need.

You try on Steve's old Scoops Ahoy outfit when bored one day and although Eddie had to fight off a smile when he saw photos of Steve in it, both of them are practically drooling when you have it on.

This may or may not lead to some spicy cuddles, with them practically worshipping your body.

“All this for us, yeah?” Eddie coos, peppering your chest with kisses, dragging his tongue over them after while Steve sits behind you kissing your neck, letting his hands wander over your marked chest, murmuring praises.

Lots of nicknames are involved. Seriously, they both shower you with so many nicknames, pet names, etc. throughout the day and you return the gestures in kind. Steve does love it when Eddie calls him “big boy.”

Oh, and once you slipped and accidentally called Steve ‘babygirl’ and it so happened to stick. Both you and Eddie say it just on those occasions to tease Steve or to make him blush. (Sometimes the occasion happens a lot hehe).

‘Sweetheart, baby, and darling’ are Eddie’s preferences but he says them with such dramatic flair you can’t help but melt.

Steve leans more towards ‘babe and beautiful,’ pretty basic but you know he means them with sincerity and love.

So much bantering and teasing happens, you’re all the triad of chaos. This is especially so during your weekly movie nights where you all build a fort and watch movies. Eddie wants to make sure that Steve is going to be cultured on Middle Earth by the end of the year.

“Ohhh so that’s Mordor and that’s the Shire.” {insert yet another sigh from Eddie} “Yes Harrington, congratulations.”

Majority of the time though Eddie would show both of you his newest bit of music he’d been practicing on, and you and Steve would cheer him on, Eddie practically beaming, his heart so full.

Sometimes Dustin joins in on movie nights, insisting on gathering snacks and popping the popcorn. He also likes to play board games with you guys too and update you guys on him and Suzie, bringing his radio to talk to her on occasion.

When it comes to gift giving, the Steve and Eddie know you aren’t too materialistic, so Eddie gives you one of his rings, and Steve gifts you with a locket which holds a favorite photo of you pecking his cheek and him smiling stupidly in his Harrington way. You cherish both items regardless, because they’re from the two people you love most in the world and wouldn’t trade them for anything. They wouldn’t trade anything for you either because they cherished you and each other so much.

okay quick 2x04 thoughts before i go off to make some gifs!

moiraine in cairhien was so fun!! loved getting a peek at her childhood and family

i gasped when it was revealed that moiraine (and presumably siuan) deliberately planted logain in cairhien to lure rand, even though i should've seen it coming! i should've known moiraine's always playing 4D chess!

WE STAN ANVAERE, absolute queen shit. she out-moiraine'd moiraine! also, as a younger sister who spent my whole childhood craving my older sister's approval, Felt

i'll admit i'm not jazzed about lan's storyline this episode. it was a little interesting and i liked getting a look at what alanna is like "outside of work", and she and maksim and ihvon continue to be top-tier secondary characters, but it felt like too much time and i wish some of this screentime had gone to mat or egwene instead. though i'm guessing we'll be getting much less of lan and more of others (especially egwene, for obvious reasons) next week!

but i AM intrigued by the direction they're going with lan's bond. everyone had speculated alanna's absorbing myrelle, but given that lan's getting on pretty well with them all and alanna seems to be leaving the decision in his hands and even suggests he could soon bond with nynaeve, i really do wonder if they might just have lan's bond go straight to nynaeve post-moiraine's-"death" and keep alanna & rand as the only non-consensual bonding in the show. it's a bit of a repetitive plot beat and i don't think anything would break if lan's version of it was skipped.

egwene referencing rand to elayne but without mentioning his name or any distinguishing info about him!!!!! this definitely gives me hope for a cute little scene of rand and elayne encountering each other in falme without realizing they have mutual friends.

i was SO confident that blonde warder trainee in the trailer was gawyn, but it turns out he was just a random background guy! i have been catfished! but maaaaaaybe it really was him but he just wasn't credited because he's not being officially introduced until a later episode? please???

LEANE'S OUTFIT!!! and ooooh great setup for the falme trip AND the coup next season (i'm sure some people will be more convinced by liandrin/elaida merger after this scene, but i truly don't think that'll happen bc a) it wouldn't work storywise for a number of reasons, b) if they were merging them they would've named the character elaida instead of liandrin)

i LOVED perrin's scenes with elyas!!! and this is coming from someone who was always bored to tears by perrin povs in the books! elyas delivering exposition like it was the most obvious thing in the world and perrin's an idiot for not knowing was a GREAT vibe haha and we have confirmation that perrin's visions aren't a visual representation of his smelling abilities, but rather sendings from the wolves! and we got hopper!!!!!

liandrin's convo with nynaeve was SO GOOD. i was going "awww this is so sweet, i love this" "oh wait, betrayal incoming, shit" djkjfg they did a great job of making it believable that nynaeve (and the audience) would trust liandrin's word about going to falme. also, the show's focus on the tragedy of aes sedai longevitiy is excellent, 10/10

elayne my beloved!!!!! "yes i'm following you obviously" i love her your honor!!!! and the earlier moment where she admits being curious about what it's like not to have your whole life mapped out, but then says she wouldn't trade places with egwene. baby! can't wait to get to her queen arc eventually!

FASCINATED by the reveal that min is working with liandrin because liandrin had promised to take her powers away from her. what an amazing story choice!!! it lends min some much-needed narrative meat, it makes SO much sense that she would find uncontrollable foresight to be a burden and a curse, and it sets up a potential arc of her learning more about/coming to terms with her powers. in the books she never has many thoughts on what it's like to have these powers, so i LOVE that the show is going to explore that more.

overall i'm quite surprised by the relative lack of mat in the season so far! i'd assumed they'd want a lot of time with him early since he was out of the final 2 eps of s1. but i'm sure he'll get a more focal episode later! on that note, i'm a bit worried because imdb doesn't have min in episode 5, and they do have mat, but it could just be because donal is a regular so gets billed for every episode even if he doesn't appear. because i'm not sure it'd make sense for mat to appear but not min next episode? but it's possible, and it's also possible that min will appear and imdb isn't accurate. still, i'm bracing myself for no mat storyline next week.

at least we got confirmation on the where & why of their trip: cairhien because ishamael wants to get mat and rand back together!! highly relatable of him, i must say

i don't even know what to say about the rand & lanfear stuff, it was SO good i'm shaking!!!!! but poor rand has probably been put off bondage forever now which is absolutely tragic djkfjgh

update to add: i can't believe moiraine walked in on rand mid-sex (with a forsaken) i hope they have the world's awkwardest conversation about it once they've stopped fleeing for their lives. there is a spectrum and This & mean girls "do you need anything? snacks? a condom?" are on opposite ends of it

I feel like I remember you mentioning Luz inheriting Owlbert as her palisman instead of Stringbean a while back (I've checked but nothing comes up, so idk if I'm just imagining this or tumblr is just being tumblr lol) and if you did, how would that work exactly? I'm very intrigued by it, but I wonder how it would play into the story, especially if Eda stays alive. I'm curious to hear your thoughts!

(Sorry if you haven't haha, I just remember reading somthing about it and I'm 70% sure it was you but..)

This is kind of both where I've mentioned it, so Tumblr should be able to bring it up, but I've never talked in depth about it I think. Let's fix that here.

So I still believe this take. The core premise is that it is a passing on of who Eda once was to someone who can now hold her rebellious torch. For Luz it is true acceptance of her being Eda's apprentice and her daughter, a family heirloom effectively passed on. Also, Owlbert would have been carved while Eda was still at her most rebellious and probably has missed the side of Eda that could do a lot of that but the curse tamped down and now Momma Eda just can't act on as much. Not like Luz. Owlbert is also more family for them than Stringbean literally had time to be. All of this is thematically WAY stronger than almost anything to do with Stringbean, leaning into new homes, found family and the mentor/student side of the show. I've DEFINITELY talked about why Stringbean doesn't work though, as cute as they are.

All of this would also have paid off the Owlbert episode in S1 or felt like it was happening already with how Luz kept borrowing Owlbert in early S2. She was growing a bond with the palisman and Owlbert is even why she's able to trick Belos during the S1 finale because otherwise she wouldn't have been able to activate the glyphs remotely.

This is also without getting into the fact that once Eda has Harpy Mode... She just doesn't need Owlbert. She can fly, she uses glyphs, it's potentially dangerous for her to use her old friend who might still want to spread their wings, etc. like that. The palisman is no longer required, kind of like how we don't see Lilith's palisman in the finale because she has her own wings now. I am happy they have their wings but... Are their palisman just being left at home, without their companions?

That starts getting kind of close to why the Bat Queen didn't trust Luz in S1. And hey, it would have been a GREAT way to end Hunting Palisman. Rather than a brick of wood that was going to take a REALLY smart hand to make eventually work without either feeling awkward in execution or feeling pointless because whatever Luz said was going to end up feeling like something she could have said here, both of which are Stringbean frankly, it's that Owlbert comforts her. Eda sees this, smiles, frowns then shuts her eyes. When they open back up, it's to Luz and Owlbert, now in first person perspective from Eda's eyes, looking up at her and asking if she's okay. She wipes her tears, knowing what's right for her friend and her daughter and tells Luz that until she figures out what she wants, what fits her, she can use Owlbert. He has been getting a little chubby sitting around The Owl House after all and she's more likely to keep him from getting into mischief. Owlbert hoots in indignation while Luz puffs out her chest and goes "And what if I want to get into Mischief?" and Eda just smiles before saying that then they BOTH can keep each other out of trouble.

It's a genuine Mentor/Student moment that also has SO many shades of when someone hands down the old car that's been around for so long and meant so much to the older generation. Now it can be useful and ride anew with the sons and daughters who originally ran those tires into the ground. How it can cause mischief all anew while the old generations also knows how reliable it can be.

It even fits with what Luz's statement is eventually. "I want to be understood." Why not the family who took her in and showed so much understanding? Hunting Palisman is one of the genuinely good moments for Luz, Eda and King, brief as it is, in part because it is showing so much understanding of Luz. That she would appreciate the gesture, needs time, needs opportunity and doesn't need pressure. But that understanding never really goes anywhere. Eda never passes anything on to Luz. She barely ever teaches her anything, even when that was ostensibly what the show was about. This could have at least been a gesture bringing the elements closer together, rather than keeping them apart.

Instead, even when the family is all together to fight Belos, Owlbert just... Isn't there. He's gone from the finale until the endings start. Someone who always protected Luz, helped her, even back in the first episode when Eda tries to send Luz away with Owlbert and he's just... gone. Left by the wayside like so many elements that seemed to matter at one point.

Left to rot like so many abandoned palisman. That doesn't feel like how things should have gone. Not when there was so much to be gotten out of keeping him around.

So okay here are the notes on my overly-intricate, still-unwritten CR Daemon AU

The catalyst was mainly me thinking about how absolutely unsettling Pâté would be in a universe where everyone has talking animal companions that are an extension of their soul. Matilda lost hers (a rat named Patter), so the major part of everyone’s fear and distrust of her is not that she looks off, but an instinctive, soul-deep dread and disgust because she has no daemon.* So, to blend in better and to alleviate her own crushing loneliness, Laudna (who has renamed herself because she doesn’t feel like the same person anymore without him) started carrying around a dead rat and pretending he talks. :(

(*apparently.)

And Imogen is the first person in a very long time to regard her with compassion rather than horror. She’s still weirded out by her lack of daemon but once she finds out how she lost him she’s very upset and angry on her behalf. Her daemon (a tressym) is more sympathetic than she is at first and wants to approach and comfort her because she’s so distressed that Laudna doesn’t have a daemon, about which Imogen is initially a little jealous, but once it sinks in for her how absolutely lonely she’s been and for how long (and maybe after they’ve gotten to know each other a little better unless this is like, how they came to understand each other’s soul so well) Imogen’s daemon voluntarily breaks the taboo by letting Laudna touch her. (Out of politeness she also gives Pâté a little nose boop but he kind of freaks her out.)

Now originally this was just going to be a sweet little oneshot about Imogen and her daemon finding a daemon-less weirdo in her garden shed and showing her the first kindness she’s seen in 30 years but I am just incapable of NOT getting overly involved in the Briarwoods backstory, haha.

Sooo back in Vox Machina era Ripley, under the Briarwoods, was doing experiments on Dust and daemons and discovered that the burst of energy released by severing someone from their daemon could be used to open a temporary gate into another world. They pointed her research in that direction, intending to use that power to draw the Whispered One into Exandria. Meanwhile Delilah, intrigued by the severing, started doing experiments of her own on unsuspecting castle staff and citizens of Whitestone. The subjects that didn’t die immediately without their daemons became obedient, soulless thralls that were easy to command, if short-lived (so this is this universe’s equivalent of necromancy) but it wasn’t quite what she was looking for. She wanted to become immortal by separating her daemon (a wolf* ) from herself so that it could travel far distances from her and persist after her death to attach itself to a new vessel. (*originally I had Delilah’s daemon as a pine marten because despite having read the books numerous times I always forget that Pan doesn’t settle as an ermine, he ends up a pine marten too. I chose it because they are elegant and auburn and devious and apparently have a pleasant scent. But it’s kind of a rare animal in fiction so I didn’t want to copy the book that closely even in an au based on it. A wolf is kind of a too-generic animal for her but there’s a reason it’s a wolf.) So poor Matilda and the others were invited to the castle “for study,” which led her to believe that Delilah had taken an interest in her magical abilities and was going to become her tutor but alas. :( The other six and their daemons in the study died outright and though Matilda survived the severing, Patter died shortly afterwards, so Delilah, getting impatient because of the approach of VM, considered her a failed attempt and abandoned her, not realizing that Matilda’s own magic had caused her Dust to cling to her and retained some scraps of her personality and agency so she was more than an empty husk like the other thralls.

Making some final adjustments, she tried it again on Cassandra de Rolo, and this time it worked. Cass was severed from her daemon, which survived, leaving Cass under Delilah’s control while she had her daemon imprisoned. Finally she performed the severing on herself, but her magic and its resentment at being parted from her caused her own daemon to become corrupted by the ritual. (So idk maybe it even started out as a pine marten but ended up . . . that. Vax’s daemon started out as a snake but changed into a raven when he became the Matron’s champion and Percy’s daemon was mutated by Orthax so settled daemons being forced into a new shape under extreme duress is possible in this au. I kind of like the wolf —> Hound of Ill Omen foreshadowing though.) Meanwhile VM were on their way. Percy knew that Ripley was doing some kind of nefarious Science under the Briarwoods but they didn’t know exactly what yet. Then they were suddenly attacked by an extremely messed up looking wolf, which took back Delilah’s stolen grimoire and escaped and they were all like wtfffff because they’d never seen a daemon without a person nearby before and it’s extremely unsettling. Especially one that looks like THAT. So they knew something bad was going on in Whitestone even before they got there and saw all the daemon-less people shambling around pathetically. So even though the plan to open a gate for the Whispered One was foiled (temporarily) by VM, her other experiment worked — she was able to send her daemon far away from herself before she was killed and it moved on to her clones, prolonging her life for another year. After Vox Machina finally burned through all of those as well it went off in search of a new vessel and eventually found Laudna but, unable to bond with her like a regular daemon, it forced its way in. So her Hound of Ill Omen is Delilah’s old daemon, gnawing at her ribs, resentful of Delilah for separating them but resentful of her for not being Delilah, whispering promises of power if she will just accept it as her own.

Ohh loooook, it's me, again-

Bruh now I'm here to talk about another one of my favourite tbhk character, TSUKASA-

I have quite a questionable type, and tsukasa just so happens to fit in that so here I am, simping for him-

But omg your theories and analysis on him and his behavior? That really intrigues me and makes so much sense! I actually never thought about his behavior towards amane to be that way.

You know, out of curiosity I've been searching things like "can one child out of twins be a psychopath", considering how tsukasa's behavior has been described for so long typically. And at least even how I have childishly perceived his character. Didn't make sense to me because if I think this biologically, how can tsukasa's brain develop differently while amane acts sane with emotions in check? Is tsukasa even a psychopath? So after reading your analysis it hits me that ah yes, the boy is just a full blown sociopath who needs Amane's apology, an explanation, and his understanding. Because as you said, he doesn't show the emotions on his face, but you can sometimes determine his feelings through his words.

But also you know how children act the way they act because of their surroundings right? So how why did tsukasa act that way as a child? His little actions, such as crushing the bones of frogs, or just killing them. These little teensy acts of violence, I wonder where he learnt that from. Or maybe it's just me being too much-

He's such an intriguing character because we just don't know what's going on in his mind. You never know. You don't know why, he's doing what he's doing. Why he's acting in such a way, it's all a mystery. And I'm just waiting for when everything gets revealed and tsukasa finally finds peace that he deserves. The boy has suffered a LOT. And if I were in his place? I'd be petty as HELL. I would be angry and all over the place. Because yeah imagine sacrificing your life for your sibling, only to find out he not only killed himself, but also you, who gave their own life just for another. Now that's a tragedy.

Look, Tsukasa leaving people intrigued again haha is a gift he has. Look, if we're going to talk about Tsukasa we have to talk about both of them, let's include Amane.

The twins have had psychological problems since childhood, and we can say this is because of their suicidal tendency. Tsukasa was the first to give up on his own life, Amane gave up later, but gave up.

Consider the situation, if the person you love is going to die and to save them you need to make a sacrifice, what do you think people would do? Generally, they would try to look for another way, or even sacrifice someone from outside, who has nothing to do with it (let's not be hypocrites and let's understand that there are people who would do this, NEVER ALL of them, but there always are)

What would you do? Would you sacrifice yourself or try to find another way to convince God to save that person?

Tsukasa didn't think twice. But, let's overlook it a little due to his young age. And this is another factor, a four-year-old child who decided to die, do you see how impactful this is? Children at this age shouldn't worry about anything, he should just understand that his older brother is sick, but the whole time Tsukasa is trying to please Amane because he knows he's about to die.

Tsukasa is a very intelligent boy, above average, he proves this to us all the time, but I still can't see him in the same way as most people.

Tsukasa has high suicidal tendencies and signs of depression. One of the most important signs that is undervalued by people is shown by him all the time, the warnings: Amane doesn't like me, Amane hates me, Amane will live better without me.

So, let's go to Amane, he follows the same reasoning.

Apparently Hanako has more psychological problems than Tsukasa. He, in his most youthful phase, appears to have severe depression, high suicidal rates, and the possibility of self-mutilation (nothing confirmed). Depression doesn't happen because you're sad, depression is a disabling pain, and when I say pain, I'm not referring to the body, but the mind.

Suicide is an act of desperation, he wants to get rid of pain. Amane has severe trauma, high rates of depression and suicidal tendencies, and in addition, like Tsukasa, he is unpredictable. The difference between them is that Tsukasa is spontaneous, he does a lot of things that make people scared, Amane doesn't do it directly like him, but he does it.

We found out that he was going to kill Aoi only after it was actually close to happening, he planned everything coldly and while it was happening, he pretended he didn't know anything, he pretended he was helping Nene and Akane find her ( because he felt obligated) and he even questioned her "How did you manage to escape number six?"

Tsukasa kills supernaturals in front of us, he tends to do cruel things at certain times, Hanako tends to do it behind our backs, you don't see or know his intentions.

Remember, the two are opposites. Didn't Tsukasa say that?

They both have a lot of psychological problems, if I'm going to delve deeper into this, I'll have to make a post hahaha but, you have to take one thing into consideration when we talk about the twins.

The supernatural creature under the house.

Tsukasa has lived with her since he was four years old, so he's used to seeing cruel things and thinking it's normal because he's seen it for a long time and there was no one there with him to tell him it was wrong.

Do you think this is a common conversation? He is talking to the creature. Is it normal to ask someone if they have eyes or hands? And even more so calmly and naturally.

Amane also knows this creature, less than Tsukasa, I suppose, but he also lived with it. The twins are not just two, they are three, the thing is embedded in their chest.

In the heart.

Tsukasa didn't kill animals as a child, he gave them to the creature, he clearly didn't know what he was doing, I imagine he found out later. He offered a rice ball to the creature to make another wish come true, and when nothing happened he assumed that he wanted an animal because the day before, his lizard had disappeared.

If he has learned to be cruel, it is probably because of the thing that is embedded in his heart, the creature in the house.

Amane is more responsible than him because Tsukasa saw things that he didn't, but that doesn't take away Amane's guilt. The story develops like this, hiding everything about Amane, about number 7, about Hanako, he hides it, but nothing guarantees that he isn't like Tsukasa, but he hates to admit it.

They are opposites and at the same time similar, to talk about one, we must talk about the other, that's how it works, or better yet, talk about all three. Never forget that thing, ever.

So there’s quite a few reasons I like this match, but two of the most compelling to me are your Enneagram and INTP. The Logician/Philosopher combo makes you a good fit for Avior.

These personality types give me the impression of someone introverted with a curious and unique nature who thinks more than they necessarily say; this would intrigue Avior. I think once he gets to know you, he’d really love to hear all your thoughts and talk with you, and find out what’s going on up in your head.
