How would you imagine Monkey King reuniting with Lin after 500 years if she possibly was made immortal when she merged with Bhudda?

Well....

I sorta suggested the idea that Lin might be an incarnation of the Golden Cicada in an older Wukongverse post.

But perhaps I was thinking a little too small.

Perhaps instead of her being the Golden Cicada, she's in fact a major missing entity?

Someone known for granting the Monkey King mercy?

For we know... she's the life Miao Shan, the one who eventually became Guanyin in her (second) death. Hence why the Books of the Dead end her entry abruptly.

Wukong busts out after those 500 years are up, sees the Bodhisattva of Mercy and is immediately like "YOOOOO!!! YOU BECAME A GOD!? I'm so proud of you pebble!!" while his new pilgrim buddies have no idea what tf is going on.

Goes weak if you caress his face and likes to touch his forehead to yours when talking sincere with you

If you can not only hold his stick but wield it, he’s absolutely head over heels

How would a relationship develop?

Acquaintances

Similar to lin, he would think of y/n as not inherently a burden to drag around but regardless he's got some help now. He's not used to help and sees it as weakness. He will tease, mess with and try his best to push y/n away buuuut

Friendship

As he gets to know y/n, they don't seem all too bad. They help him along the way in the sense of friendship and caring and not just to get the upper hand on him or using him for what they want. The teasing is lightened up but still a way that he shows platonic affection. And as time goes on, he could start to feel something more. Something he's never felt before.

Crush

He's never really had a friend before so if anything were to develop on y/n's side (them flirting with him and such) it would go right over his head and take it as praise and a strong bond between you two. Not sure if stick would know anything about love and/or notice, but if it did, it would definitely nudge him along. Maybe give him advice but again, right over monkey kings head.

But soon enough, he would figure it out somehow and rather than being excited about this new found feeling, he'd be anxious.

He's NEVER and I mean NEVER gotten this close to someone before. What if he screws it up? The one person that wants to be around him, leaving him? Alone for another eternity… he can't risk that! So, instead of saying things out right, he would ask y/n hypothetical questions and try to be as subtle as possible (wrapping his tail around them more, trying to flirt back and miserably failing, ect)

Relationship

Once monkey king and y/n make it official, he is a bit hesitant to let others know about it at first, (to not risk endangering y/n) if y/n is capable of taking care of themselves, then oh BOY will he not shut up about it! With every demon to be fought, he would declare loud and proud of their bond.)

He will do anything to protect y/n because they're all that he has, they're his world. Due to this he can be a bit overprotective at times. With that, he is an incredibly loyal companion.

After watching some monkey documentaries and primatology reports; I have discovered that a common theme among orphaned and/or socially isolated macaques is oral fixation - as they lack a mother, they subconciously seek out oral stimulation via thumb-sucking or chewing on twigs to simulate nursing. These repetitive behaviors follow them into adulthood, even when they've grown into healthy wild monkeys. Some even continue the behavior when they have their own infants, mimicking their baby's behavior via twig-chewing.

he probably had no idea what it felt like but once he does, whoo boy

he’s an absolute sucker for it

the first one was probably on the nose or cheek or something but Buddha have mercy

Monkey exe. has stopped working

after that he jumps at the opportunity to get a kiss from you

if you even give him a peck for doing a good job or behaving or whatever, it makes his day

will sometimes nudge you and gesture to whatever part of his face he wants you to kiss

sometimes if he gets injured he’ll (half) jokingly request that you ‘kiss it better’

gets sulky or pouty if you deny

the first time he kisses you would probably be if he’s really hyped and doesn’t even think twice before grabbing your face and kissing your cheek or forehead or something

but on the lips

believe it or not he’s been holding back for a while before now

I loved the scene where Monkey King got intoxicated by the peaches. So how about this scene with Reader around?

They would definitely be bewildered by his tone change. In this sort of au sense, maybe he would be incredibly sleep deprived due to refusing to get any sleep because of his nightmares. He doesn't tell y/n about them at this point so he just makes things up like,

"Dude! You never know when there'll be a demon in the niiight. They're gonna... snatch ya up and... idunow... Eat ya or somthin..." his words are slurred and sparce.

Y/n obviously is concerned for monkey. They tell him that they feel plenty protected and that maybe he should take a nap since it's the middle of the day, less susceptible to any surprises. Monkey shakes his head but instantly regrets it as his head feels like it's going to spin right off his shoulders.

"No! I don need a NAP! Naps are fer mortal pebbles, liiike you." He points to an area near y/n, he squints a bit and sees y/n and adjusts his mockery. He starts to giggle a bit. "Ya know, now that I get a gooood look at ya," he holds y/n's face.

"You're.... kinda preeeety, hehehe... No wonder demons wanna eat ya. You a snaaaack, hehe... BUT! Don tell STICK I said that, mmmmkay? Shhhh!" He puts his finger to y/n's lips. "Is a secret... hehehe..." He starts to loose his balance and falls back to the floor, completely passed out in a snoring slumber. In respectful fashion, y/n ponders that in the world they just witnessed but they manage to take Monkey to their bed and sit in the room with him. Monkey King mumbles in his sleep, his tail thrashes back and fourth in frustration. Y/n holds his hand and he lays still again.

For today's mythology sh*tposting, I'd like to give some inspiration to the fanfic writers out there by giving you an antagonist that has a beef with a certain monkey.

Way back when, there was a goddess called the Old Mother of the Waters/Shui-mu Niang-niang who was notorious for causing floods. The other gods kept trying to catch her, but she always slithered out and kept being a problem. What was heaven to do?

Call their OTHER recurring problem and have HIM deal with her! So good old Sun Wukong went down to deal with the Old Mother, but even though catching up to her was no problem (this is Sun Wukong we're talking about) he couldn’t stop her from slipping away again. Naturally this got him very frustrated, so he went to HIS go to solution:

Guanyin!

So he motors over to her palace in the Southern Seas and they hatch a plan.

Now, the Old Mother was getting pretty hungry. This running from the law business takes it out of you at that age, you know? So she decides to take a little break at a food stall and get something to eat.

JUST AS PLANNED!

For you see, the owner of that stall was Guanyin herself and the food the Old Mother just ate were actually really heavy iron chains that very painfully revert to their true form! Unfortunately for the Old Mother, she was already halfway done with her meal by the time this happened, so she was stuck with iron in her gut and chains coming out of her mouth (honestly I'd just be thankful they weren't coming out the other end...).

So with the flood lady all tied up Sun Wukong drags her to a well at the foot of a mountain in Hsu-i Hsien and locked her up tight, where I'm sure she'll NEVER cause anyone problems EVER AGAIN. There's no way this ancient and powerful goddess of primordial oceans is sitting there, steaming while she waits for escape and dreams of monkey leather boots. Nope, she'll stay there forever, just like the Demon Bull King!
