I'm wondering if there's anyone out there this evening that would like to read a chapter of Stephen angst from a fic I actually finished a while back.
Show of hands perhaps?

IT WAS THE FIRST DAY OF SUMMER VACATION WHEN YOU RECEIVED THE GOD-AWFUL NEWS.
“Your father and I are finally gonna have our honeymoon this summer!” your mother exclaimed, grinning excitedly as if she was expecting you to reciprocate the same energy.
Okay, maybe it wasn’t god-awful, but this was the one summer where you didn’t have to shoulder the responsibilities of being a student. Having recently graduated from high school, you were basking in the glow of finally becoming an adult and an incoming college freshman. You were finally free from AP exams, college applications, and the pressure of balancing academics and a social life. So, given all that, you were rather upset that your parents were leaving you behind before you had to fall into the routine of being a student all over again.
You didn’t mind having this talk. In fact, you were glad your mother was telling you in advance instead of just jetting away to another country and leaving a note behind. However, you didn’t understand why she had to have this conversation in front of your best friend, Lee Heeseung.
It probably didn’t help that you two had been joined at the hip since you were wearing diapers, but your families had gotten far too comfortable with each other. Just last week, Heeseung’s mom was asking you if you both had finally “tied the knot,” to which you replied by explaining that you had just graduated high school.
You were happy for your mother and stepfather, really. Your mother had experienced her fair share of bad relationships after your father left, so you were glad that she finally met someone so kind and genuine. You weren’t ever one to judge the men your mother brought home, but your stepfather always got brownie points for playing Mario Kart with you whenever he came over. Not to mention, he bought you the Nintendo Switch to play it on. He seemed to be the only man who didn’t feel insecure about your mother’s success and lavish lifestyle, so you only had good things to say about him.
While you were genuinely glad with the outcome of your parents’ relationship, that unbecoming, spoiled side of you was slipping through the cracks. Even your brain was shouting at you for complaining about having to stay in Bel Air for the summer. Yet, you were just far too frustrated with the bleak vision of your own summer to care about your parent’s honeymoon. In two weeks, you should have been vacationing in the Bahamas with a piña colada in your hand, not waiting for your parents to come back from Rome.
“That sounds so fun,” you chirped with fake enthusiasm, although you supposed it was easily detected due to your gritted teeth, “and that’s not gonna interfere with our trip to the Bahamas, right?” When she didn’t respond, you asked again, “Right, Mom?”
Your mother wore an uneasy look on her face at the sight of your displeasure, so Heeseung cut in quickly, “I think you should probably forget about the Bahamas this year, Y/N.”
“Heeseung!” you whined, sending him a sharp glare. He did not just tell you to forget about the Bahamas. “You’re supposed to be on my side!”
“Not around your mom, dude,” he muttered.
“He’s right, Y/N.” Your mother smiled as she placed her hands on your shoulders. “I mean, it would be good for you to stay here with all of your friends for once; I don’t think you’ve ever not left the country for the summer.” When you sulked, your mother tried to encourage you by gently squeezing your shoulders. “Heeseung and your other friends are here, and you have a car now! Yeji’s family moved to Irvine now, didn’t they? You can drive down to see her.”
You nodded, a little more encouraged. You and Hwang Yeji had been close ever since you met at Choi Jisu’s birthday party in middle school. When Yeji’s parents decided to move to Irvine, finding that housing was much more expensive in Los Angeles County, you were absolutely crushed. Plus, it wasn’t like Orange County was any less expensive, so you felt even more bitter about their sudden move. It wasn’t like you could drive and see Yeji whenever you wanted, either; the one hour drive felt like three with all the Los Angeles traffic.
You hung your head, dejected. “I guess so.” You turned your head to the side, noticing the snicker that Heeseung was holding back. After shooting him a dirty look, you looked back at your mother. “When are you leaving?”
“This weekend,” she responded, eyes fixed on her phone screen now. “I have to sort out my PTO with my boss today, though.” She kissed the top of your head and started heading for the door, heels clicking against the linoleum flooring with each step. “I’ll see you later tonight, Y/N! And make sure Heeseung actually goes home tonight!”
You shot a glance at your friend, who didn’t seem to have a care in the world in reaction to your mother’s words.
Heeseung tended to be scared of everything—everything except actually scary things, like biblically accurate angels or the wrath of his mother.
You gave your best friend a condescending half-grin, which he returned sheepishly. As of late, Heeseung had become notorious for staying out late with Jay Park, Jake Sim, and Park Sunghoon. (Yang Jungwon often joined them, but he was adamant about going home before midnight. Something about not wanting to miss out on his beauty sleep.) Everyone thought this was the beginning of Heeseung’s teenage rebellion (which was rather delayed), but then you discovered that all they did was play games in an internet café and occasionally use their fake IDs to get into VIP lounges at clubs.
When you heard the door shut, you circled around the couch to sit next to Heeseung.
“This sucks,” you said flatly. “Summer means an ungodly rise in temperature—hot enough to melt the skin off my bones, and I’d rather have that happen while I’m sunbathing in the Bahamas!”
“Do you realize how spoiled you sound right now?” Heeseung snorted, looking up from his phone where he was playing Cookie Run from the umpteenth time. You swore he was addicted to the game despite the numerous times he told you he was just playing it as a joke. Your best friend continued, “You should be happy for your mom instead of complaining about your summer being ruined.”
You sank back in your seat. You hated to admit it, but Heeseung was right; you were being uptight about this whole situation. You just couldn’t help but feel disappointed about the one thing you were looking forward to all year long.
Heeseung leaned closer so that you both were shoulder-to-shoulder, and he nudged you. You looked over and were met with his dazzling grin. Frankly, you were honored that you were graced with his attention in the middle of his Cookie Run gaming session.
“You can spend the summer with me instead,” he offered.
You snorted. “That was gonna happen, anyway. You spend all your free time at my place.”
“Why wouldn’t I?” Heeseung asked, brows knitting into a frown.
He looked at you so intensely that your breath caught in your throat for a moment. The proximity coupled with the shift in tone made you feel self-conscious, and you were scared that Heeseung was going to let some unspoken feeling slip.
However, his face broke into a mischievous grin. “You guys have a jacuzzi.”
You pressed your lips into a thin line and shoved him harder. This time, Heeseung was laughing as he fell against one of the cushions on his side. You grabbed one of the throw pillows and started pummeling him with it.
“You have your own jacuzzi, too, dumbass,” you retorted. “You’d know if you actually stayed at your own house for once! Also, you’ve lost your pool privileges here after you poured bubble bath in ours.”
“Come on. It wasn’t that bad.”
“You clogged our jets and we had to pay someone to get rid of the bubbles, Heeseung.”
“Jake was the one who poured the bubble bath in!”
“And who was the one who gave him the idea?”
Heeseung grimaced, and you were seconds away from reminding him how you took the fall for him when your parents asked what happened to the hot tub. Before you could, though, he spoke up.
“I was being serious, though,” he started, “do you wanna have a fun summer with me, or do you wanna stay bitter and do nothing?”
Something about Heeseung’s condescending tone was pissing you off. You stared at him before delivering one last blow with the throw pillow.
“Ow! What was that for?!” he exclaimed, rubbing his arm. You rolled your eyes at his dramatics; you didn’t even hit him that hard.
“I’ll see you later,” you told him, turning on your heel to head upstairs without seeing your friend out. “I have plans with Yizhuo now.”
You weren’t exactly sure how you became friends with Ning Yizhuo, but throughout high school, everyone knew the two of you came in a package deal. When you were in third period AP World History, everyone knew that Yizhuo would switch out of her second period section to be in your class; when you didn’t show up to calculus, it was no surprise that it was because you were ditching with Yizhuo; when Zhong Chenle asked Yizhuo out, he realized that commitment came with becoming your friend as well.
At first, you assumed that it was because your mothers were close, but that didn’t explain why you spent countless nights at her place and picked her up for school every single morning. Heeseung even once admitted that he was jealous of your friendship with her. He was drunk when he mentioned that, of course. He would never admit to that while he was sober.
When she got into a school on the west coast and you got into a school on the east coast, though, you thought your life was over. (When you figured out your meet-up plans were somewhat manageable, you felt a little better.)
On the bright side, you were stoked to attend Yale with your partner-in-crime, Heeseung.
“Wait! Let me drive you,” said partner-in-crime offered.
You turned to face him, wide-eyed. “It’s like a thirty minute drive, Heeseung. I’m going to her country club.”
Despite your protests, you knew that Heeseung would be more than willing to drive all the way over there. Hell, you could tell him you wanted to go to Las Vegas right now, and he’d somehow manage to arrange a trip for you two. You had never met anyone as spontaneous as him.
Now, though, you were trying to get away from him because you were a little bitter about his comment. On the other hand, you really didn’t want to drive alone, so you kept his proposition on the table.
“Oh, her country club? The one up north, right?” he inquired. “Can I bring Jake, too? We’ll just hang out at the mall while you do your thing.”
You mulled it over—not for long, though, because you found yourself caving easily. “Fine.”
Tumblr media
You forgot that Heeseung bringing Jake meant that Jay and Sunghoon were coming along for the ride, too.
The three of them were squeezed in the back of Heeseung’s Tesla, with Jay incessantly complaining about how he had to take the middle seat. He even went as far as to compare heights, and Sunghoon used his one centimeter on Jay to his advantage. Jake remained silent for once.
You ran your finger along the smooth leather of your seat and snorted.
“Are you making fun of my car?” Heeseung asked with a chuckle.
“No, I’m making fun of how you dropped extra money for white seats.”
“And for the seven-seater.”
“What?!” Jay exclaimed, swiveling in his seat to look behind him. “And you still squeezed me in the middle seat?”
“Not my fault you didn’t look behind you, dude.”
Sunghoon and Jake proceeded to laugh at their friend, and you were about to do the same until you realized you had looked to see if Heeseung was laughing along with you. To your delight, he was. That, and the wind was blowing in his hair so perfectly. The golden sun shone across his face in a way that made his eyes crinkle up and his smile grow. You would always scold him for not having sunglasses on him, but, this time, you were a little distracted by how he glowed.
Heeseung then turned to you, one hand on the steering wheel and the other on his thigh. “What’s up?”
“N-nothing at all.” You coughed, tearing your gaze away to look ahead at the freeway. “Are we almost there?”
You just then registered how the backseat had gotten awfully silent, and when you turned to check on The Three Idiots (you deemed this title upon them back in high school, and it stuck), they all had Cheshire grins spread across their faces. It was a little scary, honestly. Their antics were nightmarish on their own, but what their eyes suggested was something that would haunt you. You fought down the heat creeping up your cheeks in an effort to appear indifferent, and you turned back to look at the GPS.
Ten minutes. You had to deal with them for ten more minutes. That was 600 seconds. Maybe you could tune out the testosterone if you counted down your arrival time.
To your relief, though, ten minutes passed by much faster because the four boys got into a heated argument over the superior boba shop in the Bay Area. You had to interject by reminding them that none of them were even from the Bay Area. Heeseung wound up going on a tangent about how he and Choi Yeonjun went on a day trip last weekend, which you would have remembered “if you were a better friend.”
You did remember, actually. Heeseung was texting you the entire time about Yeonjun forcing him to choose between him or a PS5. You presumed that Heeseung chose the PS5 because Yeonjun posted a black screen on his Snapchat story with the caption “dhmu” followed by a wilting rose and broken heart emoji.
(They wound up gaming all night afterward, anyway.)
The Three Idiots sensed tension from the back seat, so they started a new debate: the superior boba shop in Los Angeles.
You couldn’t believe that this was the depth of their conversations.
When you finally arrived at Yizhuo’s country club, you were being nagged by Sunghoon to get out of the car. He was eager to go to the mall and try out a new sushi place that everyone had been raving about. For someone who seemed to lack any seriousness, Sunghoon was extremely diligent about his frequent Yelp reviews; he even got promoted to the Yelp Elite Squad.
“Alright, alright, I’m going!” you complained, shooting Heeseung a withering look—a please save me from your friends, which he grinned at. “Bye, then.”
“Have fun, princess,” Heeseung called as you were closing the door, and you were grateful your back was turned so that he couldn’t see the look on your face.
(“Princess?” Jay questioned. “Did you just call her princess?”
“It’s an inside joke!” Heeseung rebuked.
“And were you just checking her out?” came Jake’s muffled voice from inside the car, and a bark of laughter followed immediately after from Sunghoon and Jay.)
You shook your head when Heeseung sped off as quickly as possible. You could picture it so vividly; he would be defending himself to his dying breath, cheeks bright red as his mouth ran. Although you found it funny, you knew that Heeseung was probably just glancing out the window to make sure you weren’t too close to the car before he drove away.
“Y/N!” Yizhuo called from the entrance. You turned to see her clad in a cotton shirt and tennis skirt, standing next to Zhong Chenle. “Did you think we were swimming or something?”
Yes, you most definitely did think you were going to be sunbathing by the poolside. With a sheer cover-up over your black one-piece, you were definitely not ready to play tennis with Yizhuo and her boyfriend. You even had your red heart-shaped sunglasses on your head.
You let out a petulant whine, taking your walk of shame over to the two. “I’m already in the racquet club, so why would I come here to play more tennis?”
Yizhuo shrugged, but the one thing you loved about her was that she was flexible with plans. “I’ll just change into my swimsuit, then. I’ve been wanting to sunbathe,” she said before handing Chenle her racquet. “Looks like doubles didn’t work out. Are you and Jisung good with playing singles?”
“I don’t mind as long as I win,” Chenle answered with a grin. “See you two later.”
He was clearly delighted because you were probably the only competition he had to worry about. You were sure Park Jisung would complain when he found out that you weren’t going to be his partner. Jisung was utterly hopeless when it came to tennis—or, rather, he was scared of anything flying in his direction.
Yizhuo grabbed her Prada leather tote bag, pulling out a white two-piece with a gold clip in the front after some digging. She excused herself to change quickly, and came back within five minutes. You were grateful she came prepared. For her, though, it was inevitable considering she drove thirty minutes most days to lounge around her country club with Chenle.
“They’re renovating the banquet room right now,” Yizhuo informed as she settled into the lounge chair next to yours. “I was going to invite you for the opening next week, but you’re gonna be in the Bahamas, as usual.”
“Yeah, about that,” you drawled, “vacation plans fell through, so I’m not going anymore.”
“What?” Yizhuo sat up, startling the server who brought over cocktails on a silver plate. “But you always go to the Bahamas!”
You gingerly took one of the cocktail glasses, mouthing your gratitude before turning your attention back to Yizhuo. “My parents wanna spend their honeymoon alone, and Heeseung thinks I’m acting spoiled.”
Yizhuo smirked against the rim of her glass. “How is it that Heeseung always manages to come up in our conversations?”
“He doesn’t!” you exclaimed. “He’s just always around, you know? Like a fruit fly.”
“Just like how Chenle’s always around?”
“Chenle’s your boyfriend; Heeseung’s just a gnat.”
“I’m telling you, Y/N, you and Heeseung are the dictionary definition of couple behavior. I swear, you two are meant for each other.”
You sighed. “Heeseung and I have been best friends since, like, forever. Our relationship is just… different from my other friendships.”
Yizhuo raised a brow, a coy smile still creeping across her face. “So how come you refer to everyone else as friendships, but with him it’s a relationship?”
“Psychoanalyze much?” You sent a mocking smile right back at her. “Can I not have a friend of the opposite gender anymore?”
“You can have one that doesn’t make heart eyes at you,” Yizhuo replied with a scoff. “I’m telling you, the guy’s head over heels.”
“Whatever.” You slipped your sunglasses down to rest on the bridge of your nose. You didn’t want to think about potential romantic feelings for your best friend that could threaten the stability of your life-long friendship. “Let’s circle back to what’s actually important: my summer.”
“Poor Heeseung.” Yizhuo tutted. “Bahamas over love.”
“Love can happen any time,” you said, “but the window of opportunity only opens once, and that golden period is the summer between high school and college. Think about it, Yizhuo! Every summer after this one is gonna be loaded with classes, internships, and work.”
“So, what’s your game plan?”
You pondered on her question. There were only so many options you had, and, clearly, going to the Bahamas was not one of them. Honestly, you hardly felt like a real Californian with the little knowledge you had about what you could even do around your area; all you could think about was the beach or Disneyland. Plus, with Yeji doing a summer program in Irvine and Yizhuo spending her days at her country club, you didn’t have much room for spontaneous activities with them.
Unless you wanted to spend every single day like you would on a regular weekend, you had to find someone who knew how to make things fun.
And, unfortunately, that narrowed it back down to Lee Heeseung.
You turned back to Yizhuo with a sheepish look on your face. “I think I have an idea.”
Tumblr media
“Be my summer escort service.”
“Excuse me?” Heeseung nearly choked on the tea your mother made for him. You watched as he set the cup down as delicately as possible while his eyes welled up with tears. He hit his fist against his chest a few times before calming down. “I don’t think you know what an escort service entails, but I think I know what you’re getting at.” He grinned slowly. “You’re taking me up on my offer.”
You did a lot of thinking on the car ride back to Bel Air.
A lot of thinking during the time when Sunghoon wasn’t complaining about the quality of the sushi place they went to. You were almost inspired to write a negative review yourself because of how passionate he was.
“Well, it’s inevitable that I’m gonna be seeing you almost every day, anyway,” you said, “so we might as well make the most of it, right?”
“I knew you’d turn around.” Heeseung reached over and ruffled your hair. “I’ll make sure you have the best summer of your life, Y/N.”
Lee Heeseung excelled at virtually anything. You were sure he would surpass your expectations with these impromptu summer plans, too.
You deemed the nickname “Golden Boy” upon him for this very reason, and it had everything to do with the fact that Heeseung was absolutely perfect at everything he did.
For a while, you even coined a theory that he had been created in a laboratory, specially designed to be absolutely flawless in every way imaginable. Of course Heeseung was born rich, smart, and handsome. Some people were just born lucky into the world, and, when you were younger, it was harder to accept that. Heeseung grew up with the world at his disposal; he got everything and anything he wanted, but that didn’t necessarily mean he took his privilege for granted.
You had to admit that Heeseung was a hard worker when it came down to it. Although he was definitely affluent as a fourth generation trust fund baby, Heeseung made sure his parents were never disappointed with his results.
Throughout high school, he consistently ranked first every single year, always coming right above you after the semester ended. Not to mention, he had even been scouted by several Division 1 schools to join their soccer team. He was even published at the mere age of sixteen for the research he did with a college professor. And, with a face and personality like his, any reasonable mother would’ve loved for their daughter to bring Heeseung home for dinner.
Another thing he never failed to accomplish was making you absolutely flustered.
“Well…” You turned your cheek. “I always have fun when I hang out with you, so don’t let it get to your head.”
“Too late. It’s getting to my head.”
You groaned.
“Hey, we might as well have fun,” Heeseung tried. “It’s not like any of us are vicariously living through each other’s summer romances.”
“Whoa. You said ‘each other.’”
“Yeah?”
You shot him a questioning look. “You’re implying that you have a summer romance that I’m not allowed to live vicariously through.”
“What? No!” Heeseung frowned as he tried to do the mental gymnastics to piece together your reasoning. “I said—actually, you know what, it doesn’t matter what I said. Who cares about being cuffed? Let’s just enjoy the last moments of our youth.”
“You know what, you’re right,” you agreed, getting fired up just by his words. Maybe it was the realization that time was fleeting, but you were determined to have the best summer ever now. “This summer, I’m Percy and you’re Grover. No one’s getting in the way of our side quests.”
“Why do I have to be the half-barnyard animal sidekick?” Heeseung deadpanned. “Can’t I be Annabeth?”
“No, put some respect on a satyr’s title.”
Your best friend picked his cup of tea back up when it had cooled. He blew gently on the surface before taking a careful sip, and then confidently drank more afterward. He set his cup down again and held a finger up, signaling that he wanted a chance to speak again. You were half-expecting it to be about the damn Percy Jackson lore.
“Your parents leave soon, right?” he asked instead. You nodded in response, somewhat surprised about his inquiry, so Heeseung continued, “Do they need a ride to the airport? We could have a sleepover after.”
“I think—”
“We would love a ride to the airport, Heeseung,” your mother gushed from the staircase as she was lugging suitcases down, “but you’re going straight back to your house after taking my daughter home.”
Heeseung swallowed thickly. “O-of course, ma’am. Straight home.”
You pouted a little. “You’re not staying?”
He smirked a little at your reaction, and you were a little flustered and disappointed that you managed to inflate his ego even further.
“Nah, I’ll just—” Heeseung cut himself off quickly when he noticed your mother was suddenly towering behind where he was seated on your couch. “I’ll—I’ll go straight to my house, like I said.”
“Come on, let the kids spend some time together before college,” your stepfather chimed in, following suit with a suitcase of his own. “Y/N hardly ever gets to stay in LA for the summer.”
“We’re going to the same college, Dad,” you pointed out.
“Of course,” He walked over to ruffle your hair, and Heeseung stared up at him as if your stepfather was some respected higher power, “but you never know what could happen in college. People grow apart whether you like it or not, and the life of a college student gets busy, so you two might as well enjoy this summer.”
When all you could do was stare at your stepfather in horror, he added, “I’m not saying you’re gonna stop being friends! It’s just easier to spend time together now than it is in college.”
“That’s why I’m your daughter’s escort this summer,” Heeseung spoke up.
“Escort?” your stepfather pressed. “That’s… a little concerning. Keep it PG, you two.”
“It’s not like that!” you whined. “Anyway, Dad, don’t you have to get to the airport soon?”
He checked his watch quickly and nodded at your mother. “Y/N’s right. We should get going soon, honey. I’m gonna go make sure I didn’t forget to pack anything.”
With that, your stepfather jogged upstairs with Heeseung’s curious eyes following him suspiciously. When you nudged him, trying to figure out why he was mugging your dad for no reason, he grinned a little. He gestured for you to lean closer so that he could speak quietly.
You leaned in close so that your ear was by his lips, and Heeseung whispered, “He’s totally packing your mom’s honeymoon present.”
“How do you know?”
“Classic move. My brother did the same thing for his wife.”
You pulled away, covering your mouth with a shocked look on your face. You had to keep yourself from audibly gasping since your mother was only a room away. Your face broke into a little smile. Seeing someone care for your mother so deeply made you so happy, especially with how she was the one who usually put in the most effort in her past relationships.
All your life, you wanted a relationship that was the complete opposite of your mother’s; now, though, you aspired to find someone who loved you that much.
Speak of the devil. She was walking over as you and Heeseung exchanged mischievous grins.
“What’re you two smiling about?” she asked.
“Nothing!” You smiled and fixed her hair. “Have fun on your honeymoon, Mom. I’ll make sure Heeseung doesn’t get into trouble.”
“Hey!” Heeseung interjected. “I’m not even that bad! Honest-to-god, Jake’s worse than me—just ask Jay or Sunghoon. Actually, don’t ask Sunghoon because I think he has it out for me right now.” He paused before adding, “Now that I think about it, don’t ask Jay, either. Just trust me on this one.”
You scoffed. “Nice going, Hee.”
Your mother smiled, and you could tell that it was a little sad. “We’ll take you to the Bahamas next time, okay, Y/N?” She did a quick sweep of the room before leaning in a little and whispering, “By the way, your stepfather was really happy that you started calling him ‘dad’ the other day. I think he almost cried!”
You hated to admit it out loud, but you felt inexplicably happy at those words.
“I’m ready!” your stepfather called as he came down the stairs. “Do you have everything you need? Are we ready to go?”
“Ready as ever,” your mother answered and turned to your best friend. “Are you ready, Heeseung?”
“Yep.” He got up from the couch, spinning his car keys around his fingers. “Come on, Y/N. Time to say bye-bye to mommy and—ow! Don’t hit me!”
The car ride to the airport wasn’t too long, but you and Heeseung fell into an uncomfortable silence while your parents were gushing about their vacation plans to each other. They weren’t even sitting next to each other. Your mother sat next to you in the back seat and your stepfather sat in the passenger’s seat to accompany Heeseung, but they were still going back and forth. You nearly considered asking your stepfather to switch seats with you so that you wouldn’t be caught in the crossfire of their incessant flirting.
When Heeseung pulled up to the drop-off zone, however, your parents pulled themselves together in record time. You received two kisses on your head from each parent after they got out of the car.
“Heeseung, let’s walk together for a bit,” your stepfather called. When you exchanged a shocked look with your best friend, your dad clicked his tongue with a laugh. “Just until the gates over there. I need some help carrying my bags.”
Heeseung, floundering for words, wound up not saying anything and scrambled to get out of the car to help him out. The conversation seemed to be light and easygoing, but you were craning your neck out of the car window to get a glimpse of what the hell was going on.
“Mom,” you whispered harshly, “tell me Dad isn’t telling Heeseung something weird right now. He’s still traumatized from the time he was interrogated about being my Homecoming date last year.”
Since neither you nor Heeseung had actual dates for the Homecoming dance last year, he made you a poster and asked you to be his date at your doorstep. At the time, you two were binge watching Parks and Recreation together, so he used that as inspiration for your poster: Please don’t REC my plans and say KNOPE to Homecoming. You vividly recalled being impressed by how neat the handwriting was only to be told later that Yeji helped Heeseung make it.
“I’m sure it’s nothing.” Your mother waved it off. “You should be more worried about how Mrs. Lee calls us in the middle of the night and asks where her son is. That’s gonna traumatize your friend.”
Wow. Lee Heeseung was already a pain in the ass to begin with, and only now you realized how his mother had it a thousand times harder.
“Have a safe trip, okay?” you told your mother after you helped her bring the rest of her bags to the gate. “And—don’t worry—I know when the gardener's coming by, so I’ll be home to let him in.”
She smiled fondly and kissed your forehead. “I’ll text you when I land,” she said. “Have fun, sweetheart, but not too much fun.”
“Mom!” you complained, cringing at whatever she was implying.
Heeseung and your stepfather were already at the front doors, and your best friend’s eyes lit up at the sight of you. You wondered if he needed saving from your father, and you confirmed this when you noticed him cower a little after shaking your stepfather’s hand.
“Heeseung,” your mother started, “thanks for bringing us here. I made brownies in the afternoon, so make sure Y/N gives you some before you go home.”
“Brownies?” Heeseung turned to you with a grin and thanked your mother profusely. “I hope you guys have a fun trip.”
After you all exchanged goodbyes, you and Heeseung headed back to his car. You were able to watch your mother and stepfather disappear into the crowd, a strange feeling lingering in your chest. You weren’t sure what it was, but you supposed you felt a little lonely. This was the first summer you were spending without your parents, and you weren’t sure what to expect.
As if Heeseung could read your mind, he said, “Don’t worry. I’ll make sure you have a fun summer.”
“It better be the best summer of my life.”
Heeseung laughed and opened the passenger’s side door for you. “Then let’s start now.”
“Huh? Right now?”
“Let’s get bingsu,” he said. Come to think of it, you were craving shaved ice; you had mentioned it to Heeseung last week. “You said you were hungry, right? And then we can go home and dig into those brownies your mom made.”
“I never said anything about being hungry.”
“But you’re hungry, right?”
The corner of your mouth twitched before breaking into a little smile.
“Alright, let’s go.”
Tumblr media
In all honesty, you didn’t expect anything special from Heeseung. That was why you had your own plans laid out for the coming week, and first on your agenda was going shopping with Yizhuo in Beverly Hills. Since your best friend was so adamant on spending the summer with you, though, you let him tag along.
“I hate you,” he muttered through gritted teeth as you handed him yet another shopping bag—Armani, this time. Heeseung was carrying at least six of them, letting them dangle off of his arms. “I said I’d show you how to have fun, not be your butler.”
“You said you would be my summer escort service.”
“Not like this!”
“Y/N, I swear,” Yizhuo started in a low voice, only loud enough to hear (although you wished you didn’t), “he’s like your boyfriend.”
You sped up to walk ahead of Heeseung, and Yizhuo matched your pace. Your poor best friend was lagging in the back, trying to keep up with the weight of your spending spree in his hands. Even though you told him virtually everything, this was a conversation that you couldn’t let him hear.
“He’s just my escort this summer!” you defended.
“His dad’s the senior vice president at Apple. You really think Lee Heeseung would just agree to be anyone’s manservant?”
“Well, I’m not anyone; I’m Y/N, and Heeseung and I have been best friends since forever, so it shouldn’t be surprising that he wants to spend time with me.”
“I’m just saying, it’s a little strange.”
“Yeah, yeah.” You waved off her concerns and pulled out your phone. “By the way, is the group hanging out tomorrow or something?”
“I kept seeing it in the groupchat, but I wasn’t sure whose house it was at,” Yizhuo replied. She turned and called, “Heeseung! Do you know whose house we’re all going to?”
“Tomorrow?” he asked.
“Yeah.”
“Mine.”
“Yours?” you chimed in. “I thought Jake said it would be at his place.”
“He backed out ‘cause his cousins are visiting this week,” he clarified, “so I offered mine. My parents are going out of town, anyway, so why not?”
You were surprised that Heeseung was willing to host. Most of the time his house was the absolute last resort because he hated cleaning up after everyone. For this reason, it was normally at Jake’s house because he was the only one who would tidy up himself without nagging everyone else (read: Jay Park).
You always went to Heeseung’s place on your own. There were never times where the entire group hung out there together, so it felt like everyone was encroaching on your space with Heeseung.
Even though it was his house, technically.
“You’re coming,” Heeseung added, pointing straight at you with narrowed eyes.
You frowned. “You can’t decide that for me!”
“You agreed to let me be your summer escort service, so it’s within my power,” he argued.
You made a frustrated sound. “Fine. It better be fun, though. I’m sacrificing my Pretty Little Liars marathon for you.”
Heeseung rolled his eyes. “We can just watch it together.”
“Lovebirds!” Yizhuo interjected. “I would’ve called Chenle if I knew I was gonna be a third wheel.” Both of you turned to her with wide eyes, watching the blonde’s lips curl up in a small smirk. “What?”
“That’s not what any of this is,” your best friend grumbled.
“Oh yeah? Then why are you blushing?”
Heeseung shook his head, completely turning his face away from you. You managed to catch the tips of his ears flaming bright red. It was rather easy to make Heeseung flustered, so this wasn’t something out of the ordinary, but, for some reason, you felt butterflies in the pit of your stomach.
He walked ahead, saying something along the lines of, “Let’s just keep shopping!”
You and Yizhuo exchanged a look before hooking arms and bursting into a fit of giggles.
Yizhuo called after him, “We’re going to Miu Miu next!”

Slumber parties with your friend group sounded cute and tame, in theory. Add six men into the mix, and they became slightly terrifying.
“This is why we need to make plans in our group chat without the men,” Shen Xiaoting muttered to you with her eyes fixed on Heeseung’s flat screen TV. “This is not the girls night I was envisioning.”
Your friend group of eleven (excluding Yeji, who was away for the summer) was currently playing their ninth round of Mario Kart 8. You were all taking turns, though, since the game only catered to co-oping with four people. Frankly, you were starting to get tired of the game after about five rounds. You were hellbent on beating Jay, who was talking smack about how terrible you were at gaming, but it turned out that he was no better. You ended up beating him in the first race itself, and now you were just waiting for them to wrap it up.
“Fuck,” Jake hissed once Choi Beomgyu used his blue shell on him. Jake had been consistently winning every game he played despite everyone trying to get him in last place; in the last round, Kim Minjeong made a valiant effort to use most of her Crazy 8 items on him.
You were surprised that Jake showed up in the first place. Everyone suspected that he would be stuck at home because of his cousins visiting, but he somehow managed to get his way out of it. Although he was late, he showed up at Heeseung’s door with a pillow and a handle of cheap vodka. It probably tasted rancid, but there was no room for anyone to complain.
“Get the item box, get the item box!” Chenle yelled. “But you’re kind of screwed if you don’t get a super horn or a super star.”
“So, when are we wrapping up Mario Kart?” Nakamura Kazuha asked, sighing in frustration after being hit with a shell for the umpteeth time.
“Uh, after this game,” Heeseung replied.
“And how many more rounds is that?”
“Three.”
“Jesus Christ.”
The only girl in your group who enjoyed gaming was Yizhuo, but even she was tired of the seemingly endless rounds. Since the boys were going along with the girls’ plans later on, though, you had to be patient. Appease them with Mario Kart, and then the rest of the night was yours.
Somehow, you managed to grit your teeth and sit through the next three rounds (won by Jake, Yizhuo, and Beomgyu, respectively). Afterward, Jake got up to grab the case of Mike’s Harder on the kitchen island. He proceeded to open it up and hand each person a can.
Xiaoting cracked open her can and asked, “How’d you even buy these? Didn’t your dad confiscate your fake or something?”
Around a few months ago, Jake’s dad had caught him wasted at one of their charity galas. Apparently, the Sims didn’t care too much about their son drinking, but they were furious about Jake acting disorderly in front of their guests. Naturally, Jake was grounded for a month and got all four of his fake IDs confiscated. He deeply missed the one from Connecticut where his name was printed as Nathan Fielder, even though Jake looked nothing like Nathan Fielder.
“I got Vernon to buy them for me,” Jake said, “and please don’t remind me about the fakes. It still wounds me to this day.”
You remembered you used to have a little crush on Vernon Chwe, who was a senior when you were a freshman. When he graduated, you almost cried actual tears, but you stayed strong when you went to congratulate him after the ceremony. You figured he would have been a little freaked out if you started breaking down out of nowhere.
Jay, who was inspecting the handle of SKYY Vodka, let out a scoff. “Vernon? Then you could’ve at least asked for good vodka.”
“We can just make mixed drinks,” you spoke up, scrunching up your nose at the memory of blacking out because of alcohol during your prom afterparties. “Plus, it’s not like we’re actually trying to get drunk tonight.”
“Yeah.” Heeseung stood up and rested his arm on your shoulder. “Y/N and I can make the drinks. The rest of you can help put snacks out. Someone can put a movie on, too.”
Since everyone was impressed with Heeseung taking the lead for once, the plan was set into motion. While Kazuha and Sunghoon bickered over which movie to play, the rest of your friends brought out different snacks for the movie. Arguably, you and Heeseung had the hardest job, but you didn’t need any extra hands for drinks. By the time it took you two to finish eleven mixed drinks, they probably would have settled on a movie.
You looked back to see Heeseung eyeballing a shot into a glass cup, and then he proceeded to down its contents. You cringed when you saw him drinking. The last time he got drunk resulted in you trying to calm him down after he went on a long rant about how he just ate sushi, and the alcohol in his system would cause the raw fish to start swimming. You had to convince him that no, vodka would not bring an already dead and sliced-up fish to life.
Heeseung’s face soured and he pushed the handle aside. “Y’know what, let’s just take something from my parents’ liquor cabinet. This shit is vile.”
“You got triple sec and decent vodka?” you asked. “We could make Lemon Drops.”
“You read my mind.”
“You weren’t even thinking about that, were you?”
“Not at all.”
While you and Heeseung were making the drinks, though, you noticed some giggles coming from the living room. You raised your head to see about five of your friends look away as fast as they could. It hit you before you had time to process what was going on; they were making fun of you and Heeseung together.
You had no clue why. Sure, Heeseung and you had some strange moments here and there. But you two were just making drinks, for crying out loud. Nothing about the situation warranted this reaction from them.
You side-eyed Heeseung to see if he noticed. Thankfully, he was just focused on pouring the right amount of vodka so he didn’t accidentally kill anyone. You, on the other hand, were fighting down the heat rising in your chest.
After a brief war between you and Yizhuo, consisting of you glaring at her and her smirking at you, you ended up setting down a glass and sighing.
“Heeseung,” you said, “go crazy with the vodka in the rest of their drinks.”
“Huh?” he asked, genuinely contemplating whether or not to do it.
“Pour as much as your heart desires,” you muttered and set down six of the Lemon Drops on a tray with a little too much force. Without sparing him a glance, you picked up the tray and went to the living room to hand everyone their glasses. While you handed Yizhuo hers, though, you whispered, “I despise you.”
She grinned. “What? Still denying you like him?”
“I don’t like—”
“You like someone?” Heeseung called from the island, completely frozen in place.
You turned and stared at him, mouth agape.
Chenle spoke up, “No, she likes y—”
You kicked Chenle’s shin with enough force to shut him up, and he grunted before he could continue his sentence. Satisfied, you turned back to Heeseung and shook your head quickly.
“They’re just being idiots,” you explained. “Hurry up with the drinks. We’re watching My Best Friend’s Wedding.” You did a double take and turned back to Yizhuo, harshly whispering, “Why the fuck are we watching My Best Friend’s Wedding?!”
Yizhuo removed Chenle’s hand from her knee and stood up to loop your arm with hers. “Come.”
“Where are we going?” you asked, but she was already dragging you away from the living room. “Is that movie supposed to be some sort of sick message?”
“Oh, good. So you’re aware.”
After making some excuse about needing your assistance to get something from her bag, Yizhuo walked with you to the foyer until she turned on you. You nearly tripped backward over one of the boys’ shoes, so you used the wall to regain your balance.
“Tell me what’s going on between you two,” she ordered.
You let out a sound of exasperation. “Yizhuo, for the last time, Heeseung and I are just friends. That’s all there is to it.”
“I’m just saying, the two of you are going to college together and all, but you have to sort out your feelings before you end up figuring them out after Heeseung finds someone else,” she said. “I mean, what’re you gonna do when Heeseung starts dating someone else? He looks decent enough to pull, so there’s no telling what’s gonna happen when he’s cut loose in Yale.”
You snorted. “He’s already cut loose. I highly doubt Yale’s gonna change anything.”
“You never know. I just don’t want you to realize your feelings too late—you know, when things get messy.”
You both were silent for a few seconds before Beomgyu called, “Y/N, Yizhuo, we’re gonna start the movie!”
“Coming!” you responded.
You chose not to respond to your best friend because you truly had no idea what to think, but it did leave seeds of doubt in your head. It almost distracted you from the fact that Heeseung grabbed your arm and pulled you to sit down next to him. This was bad; you were quickly becoming overly self-conscious of every little thing he did, and that would not bode well for your friendship.
Whatever, you told yourself. Push it down.
“Are there any more pillows?” you asked, scanning the room to see that everyone seemed to have one except you. You looked back at Heeseung and narrowed your eyes at his throw pillow. “Give me yours.”
“What? No way.”
“I wanna lay down,” you whined. He was really the only person you could act a little spoiled around. “Give me your pillow before I—”
Before you could finish, Heeseung threw his arm around you and pushed your head down so that you were laying on his lap. You were startled with the sudden gesture, but you didn’t complain. He was comfortable, after all, and you two usually watched movies like this in your house. So, you adjusted your position a little and continued watching the movie, making a mental note to scold Heeseung later for being all touchy in front of the friend group.
What you weren’t used to, though, was the way he started threaded his fingers through your hair.
You did the only thing you knew how to do in order to deflect; you showed Heeseung a TikTok of a baby otter. Your volume was all the way down, but you still bookmarked the video.
“Look,” you whispered, holding up your phone. His gentle fingers did not stop running through your hair, but at least you could hold onto his friendly hum of acknowledgement. It was the only thing that made any of this feel remotely platonic. “It’s a little guy.”
“Oh, it’s so cute,” Heeseung mused. “Kind of reminds me of you.”
Screw platonic.
He just grabbed platonic and drop kicked it to the next dimension.
That was it. You were going to put your phone away and ignore Heeseung for the rest of the movie. The rest of the movie would be watched in complete silence. In fact, you weren’t going to spare Heeseung any attention for the rest of the sleepover.
That didn’t end up happening, though. Ten minutes later, you cracked and started commenting about the movie to Heeseung. Unbeknownst to the others, you two ended up texting each other messages that threatened to make you burst into laughter. Even though you were sitting right next to each other, you felt like this made your conversation feel like a little secret, like even Heeseung wanted to keep what you two had to himself.
When the movie ended, you two were surprisingly still awake, although there were several moments where you were tempted to doze off on Heeseung’s shoulder. Minjeong, Beomgyu, and Jay were still up, and they were taking pictures of Chenle and Yizhuo to send to the group chat. You immediately separated from Heeseung, feeling a little terrified that you two would be the victims next. However, the others were so preoccupied with Chenle’s arms wrapped around his sleeping girlfriend and their foreheads pressed together.
“Should we wake them up?” Kazuha asked.
“Nah, let them sleep,” Heeseung answered and stood up. “I’m gonna brush my teeth. You guys can use the other bathrooms—just not the one in my parents’ room.”
Minjeong stretched as she let out a yawn. “Alright, I’m gonna wash up, then. I’m exhausted.”
After Minjeong, Beomgyu, and Kazuha left the room to get their bags and wash up, you stared at Heeseung. Your best friend looked confused until you pointed toward his glass.
“Chug it,” you said with mischief dancing in your eyes.
“You’re kidding. It’s bedtime.”
You mocked a pout. “You’re gonna waste the drink I made just for you?”
“Oh, come on—we made it for everyone!”
“But I definitely made this one.” You took the glass and held it out to him, which he ended up taking reluctantly. “I wanna see you finish it.”
After a wince, Heeseung tilted the cup back and downed the contents. Although his face scrunched up, he relaxed once he had finished swallowing it down.
“That was actually pretty good,” he said.
“See? When have I ever let you down?”
“Honestly? Many times.”
You elbowed him in the side. “Hey!”
“Kidding!” Heeseung held his arms up in surrender before wrapping them around your waist. Another gesture you weren’t quite used to, but you went along with it. There was something funny about Heeseung; nothing he did ever made you feel the slightest bit uncomfortable, but sometimes you weren’t sure if it was meant to be friendly. “Let’s go brush our teeth.”
“I can just use the bathroom on the second floor.”
“Huh? Just use the one in my room,” he said. “Come on.”
You hesitated before following your best friend upstairs. First of all, you were feeling overly-conscious about going into Heeseung’s room with him. Secondly, you weren’t too enthusiastic about the fact that you had to use a man’s bathroom.
To Heeseung’s credit, he kept his room and bathroom mostly spotless. Sure, there were a few sweaters piled over the head of his chair and some books left scattered across his desk, but it was definitely cleaner than Jake’s mess of a room. You remembered Yeji stepping across his piles of dirty clothes left on the floor, as if they were hazardous to her health.
As soon as you stepped into the grand bathroom, you realized that you had forgotten your toothbrush. It wasn’t the first time this happened, so you knew to just take one of the unopened toothbrushes from the drawer. However, Heeseung told you they moved some things around, so you wound up searching for the spare toothbrushes for around five minutes.
It was almost ridiculous how Heeseung needed a bathroom bigger than a living room.
You two brushed your teeth side-by-side. Heeseung occasionally cracked jokes that made you giggle and tilt your head back so that your toothpaste wouldn’t dribble down your chin. When that happened, he reached over and wiped your lower lip with his thumb, despite your complaints about how gross that was.
But, to you, it wasn’t really all that gross.
If only Heeseung knew how his actions made your cheeks burn hot under your skin.
Tumblr media
The next week was interesting, to say the least.
Heeseung wouldn’t let you rest for a second. You were going out with him every single day, having to see his face from sunrise to sunset. Even when it was nightfall, he would just invite himself over to your place and crash on your couch.
You pointed out that you had a perfectly tidy guest room for him to use, but he insisted that he preferred your couch. You didn’t mind him sprawled out across the cushions because you could take as many pictures of him sleeping as you pleased. You would show him your collection later when he woke up, and Heeseung would get embarrassed to the point of tickling you until you were in hysterics and gasping out that you would delete the pictures from your camera roll.
At this point, it was almost like you two were living together. Even though his parents were out of town, you felt slightly anxious about one of the adults in your parents’ circle discovering what you and Heeseung were up to. Not that it was anything scandalous.
But, you had to admit, you were having fun.
On Monday, Heeseung took you to the beach. You complained incessantly about waking up at six in the morning for cold water and sand all over your clothes, but you managed to drag yourself out of bed. Still, Heeseung had to put up with your grumbles and groans until you were energized enough to stop complaining. All it took was Heeseung feeding you a granola bar and making you coffee while you did your hair.
“C’mon,” he told you, the wind sweeping his hair to the side as the first rays of sunlight shone bright against his glowing skin, “this is exactly like the Bahamas if you close your eyes.”
“Uh-huh.”
You rolled your eyes at him, but you spent the entire day at the beach with Heeseung, anyway. You finally warmed up to going into the water with him, letting him take your hands and guide you deeper until the water was up to your waist. At one point, a particularly heavy wave pushed him closer to you until you both were chest-to-chest. You had to hold onto his bicep to keep yourself from floating away. And you swore you caught Heeseung checking you out in your bikini later on, but he turned away with pink-tinged ears immediately after.
Later, when the sun was starting to set and you retreated from the water to curl up in your towel, you sat on your large beach towel and waited for Heeseung to bring over food from the food trucks. The tide was getting higher, so you had to move yours and Heeseung’s belongings further up the sand.
Heeseung returned with two takeout boxes of tacos, taking a seat next to you with a relieved sigh. Since you two hadn’t eaten a proper lunch, you had been waiting for this meal all day. You were properly tuckered out from all the swimming and beach volleyball, so you dug in immediately.
“Good?” Heeseung asked, watching you eat with a small smile on his face. He must have been impressed that you practically inhaled your first taco in under five seconds.
“Good,” you confirmed, voice muffled.
With the back of your hand shielding your eyes, you looked off into the horizon to watch the sunlight ripple across the water’s surface.
And, yeah, maybe it was a little like the Bahamas.
Just a little.
You didn’t expect Heeseung to wake you up on Tuesday morning and drag you to an empty field. Although he told you that he had a surprise for you, you didn’t think it warranted being woken up at 5:30 a.m. without a clue of where you were going.
“Alright, close your eyes, okay? It’s a surprise,” Heeseung said, gesturing for you to cover your gaze. You found it adorable that he was fumbling so much, so you closed your eyes with a grin. “Keep them closed—hold on.”
“Heeseung, how much longer?” you whined.
“And,” he drawled, stretching out the syllable, “open!”
When you opened your eyes, towering over you was a 60-foot tall hot air balloon, its brightly-patterned nylon reflecting the bright sunlight. You boggled at its impressive size—absolutely massive. The pilot got down from the basket, walking over so that he could greet you two and provide a rundown of safety measures and procedures.
An hour later, you were in the sky, eyes sweeping over the expanse of Los Angeles. You were never that great with heights, but, somehow, you weren’t too afraid as you peered down. Heeseung stood beside you, keeping one hand on the small of your back as he pointed out different landmarks he recognized.
“I’ve never seen LA like this!” you yelled over the wind, cupping your hand around your mouth so that Heeseung could hear you.
He grinned. “Isn’t it beautiful? Makes the city actually feel peaceful for once.”
You wouldn’t dare admit it but, all the way up in the sky, thousands of feet above ground level, what made you feel like you were soaring was Heeseung’s arm slipping around your waist.
On Wednesday, Heeseung took you fishing. You absolutely hated the idea, but once you had the fishing rod in your hands, you were determined to catch the biggest fish. Heeseung ended up catching more than you, but the two fish you caught were stars in your eyes. By the end of the day, you were laughing hysterically as Heeseung’s hat got stuck in your hook and was flung into the water.
On Thursday, Heeseung took you to play mini-golf. You had gone golfing before with company executives and their kids, but this was different. You didn’t have to show off or try to be the best one there; you just had fun and laughed whenever your best friend missed the ball. You two ended the day by going to an arcade and playing almost every game inside.
By Friday morning, you were exhausted. Your limbs were aching when you woke up the next morning, but Heeseung promised to actually let you rest over the weekend. Tonight was Yizhuo’s country club’s party to celebrate the opening of their new banquet hall, so Heeseung only planned one thing for the morning so that you would have time to get ready for the party later.
Pushing your red Jacquemus sunglasses onto your head, you fixed your best friend with a puzzled stare. He was acting weird all morning, from nearly snapping at you for trying to open the trunk of his car, to staying silent when you asked where he was taking you.
For a moment, you wondered if this was the climax of a horror movie where the killer drove you to a quiet place to get rid of you. Your suspicion raised more when Heeseung parked by a marina with a hiking trail nearby.
This is where your body’s being dumped, you concluded grimly.
But, then again, this was Lee Heeseung. He cried when he was eleven because there was a spider on his backpack; he didn’t have the heart to hurt anyone, especially not you. In fact, you recalled when he nearly passed out in middle school because he thought he caused you extreme pain once. (It turned out to be your period cramps.)
“Are you gonna tell me where you’re taking me?” you asked, exasperated. “If we’re swimming, I’m gonna tell you right now that there’s no way I’m getting my hair wet before the party.”
Heeseung chuckled. “Don’t worry your pretty little head, princess. We’re just going for a spin on the lake.” He nodded his head in the direction of the yachts lined up by the shoreline. “Jog your memory?”
When your gaze landed on the gorgeous white yacht gleaming under the sun, you couldn’t help but gasp at its glorious sight. Heeseung had gotten the yacht for his birthday last year, but he never had the time to actually use it. One reason was because he didn’t trust his friends to not trash it, and the other being that he wanted his first ride on it to be special.
Your face burned. His first ride was going to be with you.
“Shut up.” You were gaping at the sight before turning to your best friend, who looked smug while he parked his car. “Shut up. You’re actually letting me go on your yacht?”
“Yeah, why not?” He tried to brush it off as something casual, but your heart was still doing cartwheels and flips. “It’s about time I went out on it.”
You two walked down to the harbor together, your hands sometimes shyly brushing and pulling away swiftly. There had been moments of thick, unspoken tension throughout the week, but you didn’t have the courage to bring it up.
Once you two reached Heeseung’s yacht, he firmly slapped his hand against the smooth, brilliant white surface. “Carver c52 Command Bridge,” he gloated. “Isn’t she beautiful?”
You snorted. “You talk about boats the same way old white men do.”
You allowed him to help you into the yacht, gripping his hand tight as you stepped onto the deck. You hadn’t questioned it before, but as soon as Heeseung let go of you, he set down the picnic basket so that he could spread out the blanket.
You helped him with the corners of the blanket. “What’s this?”
“Well, I thought we could sail out a little and then have breakfast on the deck,” he replied coolly, as if the sincerity of his words wouldn’t make your heart twist painfully in your chest. You really didn’t deserve such effort from him, and it almost made you feel guilty that you had acted so spoiled before. “I’ll go start the engine. You can just enjoy the view.”
However, you followed him to the cockpit. Heeseung raised a brow at you, but you giggled as you took a seat behind him, watching as he stood at the helm, fiddling with some controls you knew nothing about.
“You actually know how to operate this thing?” you asked.
“My dad taught me,” he explained. “I’m not licensed, though, so I don’t think this is exactly legal.”
“Not like that’s stopped you before.”
Heeseung grinned to himself. He started up the yacht’s engine by pressing a button on the dashboard. You watched his hands fly across the levers and controls before he started turning the wheel to steer out of the marina.
“You wanna head out to the deck?” he called out over his shoulder, but you just took the empty seat next to him. “Don’t you wanna sunbathe? Or you could check out the stateroom.”
“Nope,” you said, resting your chin on the palm of your hand as you watched him. “I’d rather wait for you.”
Sometimes, you’d almost catch Heeseung getting flustered. He’d always laugh and rub his nose, looking away shyly before anyone caught onto his awkwardness. The same reaction was unfolding before you right now, and you couldn’t help but smile like an idiot yourself.
You wondered if he ever felt butterflies in his stomach, too.
Once Heeseung had driven the yacht out far enough—far out enough in the water where the water was still and no one was there to disturb you two. You both headed out to the deck again. He took a seat to lay out what he packed in his picnic basket, and you removed your sundress so that you could tan a little in your bikini.
“Champagne?” he offered, holding up a bottle of Dom Pérignon that he most definitely stole from his family’s wine cellar.
You pulled out the two wine glasses in the basket and held them out for Heeseung to pour your drinks, smiling wide as he tipped the bottle. “Yes, please.”
“See, you wouldn’t be able to experience this if you were in the Bahamas right now.” He pushed his sunglasses up onto his head. “We didn’t get to hang out like this any of the past summers.”
“As if we don’t hang out almost every day.”
“But this is different!” he argued. “It’s summer. It’s not like we’re making impromptu plans to New York and flying back home a day later to study for an exam. We have all the time in the world right now.”
He was right, in a sense. You and Heeseung were always together, but you two never really got to spend long days together like this. You two got to make plans without involving anyone else in the friend group for once, and it was a lot more fun than you had expected.
“Do you think we’d be this close if we weren’t rich?” you asked after a while. Heeseung raised a brow at your question, so you clarified, “I’m serious! We wouldn’t be able to do stuff like this—flying in hot air balloons, driving yachts, going to country club parties—if we didn’t have rich parents.”
Heeseung crossed his arms behind his head and pondered, looking up at the sky with a wistful expression. He hummed before answering, “I’d like to think that we’d make it work the same way everyone else does.”
“Really?”
“Yep.”
“What if… you were rich and I wasn’t? Or vice-versa?”
“Yeah, I mean…” he trailed off for a moment, eyes cast down as if he was trying to find the words on his tongue. Then, he continued, “I think I’d be happy doing anything with you, even if all we could do together was sit at home and watch TV.”
Whatever response you had prepared at the back of your throat had died on your tongue. All you could do was look at him helplessly, wondering why his words were making your heart beat faster than when you were thousands of feet up in the sky days ago. You wondered why such gentle words from your best friend had roused a violent storm in your heart.
The wind picked up, sending your hair flying every which way. Heeseung reached out to brush a loose strand of hair away from your face, fingers lingering on your cheek as he pulled back. You went completely still, chest frozen mid-breath as he pulled away.
“You had something in your hair,” he mumbled, quickly scrambling to offer you a caprese skewer. If you looked closely enough, you would’ve noticed that his ears were bright red. “Eat quickly before the food gets stale.”
“I don’t think food normally goes stale that fast.”
“Shut up.”

There was one thing about formal gatherings that all trust fund babies could agree on: only get drunk behind your parents’ backs.
They definitely knew what was going on, but they paid no attention as long as their children were staying safe and not embarrassing themselves. When you were much younger, you would always catch sight of the older kids sneaking away to get drunk in the bathroom, but you never understood the excitement they felt until you became a freshman in high schooler, being dragged away by Yeji to drink with the older kids.
Back then, you were doe-eyed and curious as Vernon would pour shots for you in moderation. Now, you were nearly gagging when Yizhuo handed you a shooter of Pink Whitney.
You two had locked yourselves in the bathroom with Xiaoting, Kazuha, and Minjeong as Yizhuo pulled out various shooters from her purse. It was fine for you to drink wine with the other adults, but you were all certain that the adults would frown upon you drinking hard liquor in front of the other guests. So, the five of you snuck away to get drunk secretly.
For the past fifteen minutes, as you all were downing shooter after shooter, the girls had been pressing you about something going on between you and Heeseung. After he posted you on his Instagram story, showing off his boat in the process, you were bombarded with texts that you were only able to ignore until you got to the party.
A loud knock at the door nearly scared you out of your wits, causing Minjeong to bark out a laugh at the sight of you flinching.
“Occupied!” you yelled, although the syllables slurred together strangely.
“It’s us!” came Jake’s voice. “We’re going drunk golfing.”
You frowned and stepped aside to let Yizhuo open the door for Jake. He scanned his surroundings nervously before shoving his fists into his pockets and stepping into the girls’ bathroom.
“Jake,” Xiaoting started. Although her face and neck were completely red, she focused her eyes on him to keep a serious tone. “We need you to tell us if Heeseung’s into Y/N or not.”
“Xiaoting!” you complained.
“You know what, I’d like to know, too,” Jake replied with shocking enthusiasm. He leaned against the crystal sink, folding his arms across his chest. “Screw drunk golf; this is way more fun. Y/N, do you have feelings for Heeseung? ‘Cause everyone wants to know if—”
“Jake, we didn’t bring you in here for girl talk,” Minjeong cut him off with a wave of her hand. “We brought you in here for answers.”
He let out a childish whine. “But I wanna be here for girl talk.”
“Wait, but answer his question.” Yizhuo turned to you with a wide grin on her face, handing you yet another shooter—probably to make you more honest. You seriously wished you could call Chenle over to put a leash on your friend. “Do you have feelings for Heeseung?”
Did you? You had never been so confused about where you and Heeseung stood until this week. You two had always been close—always did everything together—so why were you feeling conscious about everything now?
But, despite all of your confusion, the one thing that was clear to you was that you felt something for Lee Heeseung with every beat of your heart.
Everything he did, everything he said—you weren’t sure what it was that had you so intoxicated on his attention, but you knew you would’ve felt sick to your stomach if he did the things he did with you with any other girl.
You felt it whenever you saw him lounging around your house, digging into the brownies your mother made as if he lived there. You felt it whenever someone told a joke and the two of you made eye contact with each other first, hoping to see if the other person found it funny, too. You felt it whenever he touched your hand and called you princess, unaware that your heart was fluttering pathetically in your chest.
His smile, his laugh, his happiness—you wanted to be the cause of it all.
You caved with a defeated sigh. “Yeah, I think I might actually have feelings for him.”
A collective cheer erupted in the bathroom, the sound echoing for a few seconds after. Jake stood up just to high-five Yizhuo so hard that the impact left their palms stinging, and then Yizhuo proceeded to scold Jake for putting his full force into the high-five. You pinched the bridge of your nose with embarrassment flooding your chest.
Jake decided to abandon the boys’ plans to go drunk golfing and spent the next ten minutes discussing strategies to get you and Heeseung alone. He had integrated himself into your circle so well that he almost seemed like one of the girls. You slowly backed up into one of the stalls during their conversation, starting to feel horribly nauseous and lightheaded. You were pretty sure that Yizhuo handing you shooter after shooter was starting to have adverse effects on your body.
“How about we tell him that Y/N’s puking in the bathroom and he needs to—” Minjeong cut herself off as soon as she heard you retching by the toilet. “Oh, wow, she’s actually puking in the bathroom.” She turned to Jake after opening the door for him. “Go get Heeseung.”
“If you let me join girl talk next time,” Jake bargained.
“Are you seriously negotiating with me in this situation?”
“Yes.”
Minjeong groaned. “Okay, fine, Jake, we’ll invite you the next time we have girl talk. Now go fetch Heeseung.”
“On it!” he agreed quickly. “Don’t die, Y/N.”
“I’ll try not to” you croaked out weakly, your head hanging between your knees as you willed yourself to not barf out your guts.
“Are you okay?” Kazuha pouted as she rubbed your back in soothing circles. “This is all because you kept making her drink, Yizhuo.”
“I didn’t make her,” she retorted. “Y/N, do you need water or anything? I can ask someone in the kitchen for liquid IV, too.”
You shook your head. “No, just bring Heeseung here.”
They shared a secretive giggle, but you didn’t care. You felt way too sick to mind the girls teasing you. You even tried to distract yourself on your phone, but the bright screen just made you feel worse. You closed your eyes and leaned your head back against the wall, groaning miserably.
It had really gotten to the point where you didn’t care that you were sitting on the country club’s public bathroom floor. It was all fancy and sanitary, of course, but you would normally feel icky about this sort of scenario playing out.
You weren’t sure how long it had been, but eventually, you heard the door opening and the rest of the girls rushed to make sure it wasn’t someone outside the group. You heard them ushering Heeseung inside, explaining what had happened to you before they left the bathroom.
Heeseung knocked on your stall as a formality but let himself inside, anyway. The crooked grin on his face upon seeing you only made you turn your head away and sigh in exasperation.
You turned your head back to face him when you heard his shutter go off.
A scowl was plastered across your face. “Did you just take a picture of me?”
Heeseung snickered. “Yeah, I’m posting it on my story. Right after the one of you looking all pretty on my boat.”
“You’re supposed to be here to help me.”
“That’s why I brought soda,” he replied, holding up an entire bottle of Sprite. You were confident he snagged it from the kitchen, which you were pretty sure would result in Yizhuo scolding him for treating the country club like his house. “Anyway, why’d you drink so much? Just because I’m driving you home doesn’t mean you’re allowed to give yourself alcohol poisoning.”
You settled back into your previous position with your head between your knees. This way, Heeseung wouldn’t be able to see how stupid in love you were. There was absolutely no way you could tell him that you were mindlessly drinking while you were spilling your feelings for him.
“Where’d the girls go?” you asked instead.
“I told them to go drunk golfing while I took care of you.”
“Don’t you wanna go play, too?”
Heeseung shrugged. He took a seat on the floor next to you, not minding the indecency even though he was sober. You felt like your heart was going to explode if he kept doting on you like this.
“I can always go play another time,” he said. “Plus, I’d have more fun if you were there.”
You both went quiet for a moment. The weight of Heeseung’s words only made your heart feel heavier, and you weren’t sure how much longer you could go pretending that you only cared for him as a friend.
Then, your stomach started churning and twisting with the need to puke out your guts again, and the silence was filled with your retching. Heeseung rubbed your back sympathetically and held your hair back while you hunched over the toilet seat again.
This was definitely going down as one of your most unflattering moments.
“Want some soda?” Heeseung tried.
You shook your head.
“Drink some water, then—here,” he said, handing you a red solo cup that was filled to the brim. “I stole it from Hoon.”
Reluctantly, you lifted your head to accept the cup from him. When you took a sip, though, you just ended up hawking and spitting out the contents into the toilet.
Trying your best not to gag, you got out, “Not water—vodka.”
“Oh, my bad.” Heeseung frowned, inspecting the cup. “Why’d Hoon pour this much? No wonder he drove the golf cart into the lake.”
After throwing up basically everything in your stomach, you started to feel dizzy all over again, stumbling and wobbling all over the bathroom until Heeseung had to hold you upright. He had already gotten Yizhuo’s approval to drive you home for the night, but there was no way you were making it to his Tesla in your heels. Heeseung had you hang tight while he ran to his car to get your Dolce & Gabbana rubber slides, knowing there was no possible way for him to carry you out to the car without the adults getting suspicious.
You felt much more comfortable in your slides, so you walked out hand-in-hand with Heeseung while he held onto your heels. Although you felt bad about leaving Yizhuo’s grand opening party early, you figured that it would be more shameful for her parents to see you in this state.
You had greatly underestimated the power of alcohol.
After you had walked up to about three different cars that weren’t Heeseung’s (including Jay’s Mercedes Benz, which started going off once you pulled on the handle), he had finally grabbed you by the shoulders and manually directed you to his Tesla. You giggled as you got into the passenger’s seat, allowing him to buckle you in and watch over you as he called Jay to turn his car alarm off.
Heeseung shot you a glance as he drove out of the country club’s gated entrance. “You’re going straight to bed when we get home.”
“Don’t wanna.”
He surprisingly gave up fast on trying to convince you. “What do you wanna do, then?”
“I dunno.” You shrugged. “Anything. Wanna bake cookies? Or watch a show?”
“Down for a show. Don’t know if I trust you around kitchen appliances right now,” he answered. After letting out a giggle, you caught Heeseung’s smile illuminated by the moonlight. “See? Aren’t you having more fun than you would’ve had in the Bahamas?”
“I wouldn’t ask this question after I nearly got alcohol poisoning.”
“The important thing is that you didn’t.”
You snorted, but something fond unraveled in your chest. You rolled the window down and looked outside, watching the bright lights of the city twinkle and shine under the inky black sky. You remembered all the skies you watched with Heeseung this week—the hazy gray in the morning, the bright blues of the afternoon, and the faint peony glow at sunset. And, yeah, you would’ve given up the Bahamas any day for this.
“Yeah,” you answered him, though you weren’t quite sure if he could hear you over the wind, “I’m having a lot of fun, Hee.”
Tumblr media
Two weeks flew by far too quickly.
You were dumbfounded when you realized your parents were coming back the next day. You had spent two entire weeks solely with Heeseung, and you were having so much fun that you totally lost track of time. You were so caught up in your adventures that it had completely slipped your mind that summer would eventually come to an end.
Heeseung suggested that you two spent your last night doing something special. You had no idea what that meant, but you went along with whatever he had planned.
Apparently, he had been wanting to take you to see the stars, but you didn’t realize that he meant the observatory until you were in his car, parking on the steep slope of a hillside.
“It’s so far,” you complained.
He tutted. “It’s a five minute walk, princess, and it’s worth it. Trust me.”
You hesitated before grouching again, “It’s cold.”
Without another word, Heeseung took off his sweater. You tried to peel your eyes away from his white shirt that kept hiking up as he did. He passed it to you, and you couldn’t do anything but accept it because he was already getting out of the car. You wanted to hand it back to him because you knew he would be cold (made evident by the goosebumps that pricked his arms), but he profusely refused. He seemed perfectly content at the mere sight of you joining him.
He waited as you slipped on his sweater, the biggest grin stretching across his face. You were a little blindsided by how blinding Heeseung’s smile was, especially under the glow of the moon. Your cheeks heated up a little when you smelled faint traces of his Blackberry & Bay cologne in the fabric.
“You’re microscopic in my clothes,” he teased. You started walking a little faster to catch up with your friend, but his comment made you punch his shoulder.
“Oh, shut up.” You waved off the comment, but part of you liked how the sleeves of his sweater fell past your wrists. “We used to be the same height in, like, middle school.”
Heeseung barked out a laugh. “That was so long ago! Look at our height difference now.” Before you could anticipate his actions, he stepped in front of you and compared both of your heights.
You looked up at your best friend, raising a brow at his comment. Of course you were aware. Maybe at one point you denied it, but that was when you both were in elementary school and Heeseung would tug on your hair because he sat behind you.
Being this close to him made you a little nervous. After realizing that you had feelings for him, it was becoming difficult to keep them at bay. It was very clear that Heeseung had become much more masculine over the years with his buffer chest, muscular arms, and deeper voice.
And he looked extremely attractive.
“Yeah, I know you’re tall,” you replied flatly. It was normal for Heeseung to tease you, but whenever he did so in public, you always felt your heart squeeze in your chest. Then, he’d brush it off, and the feeling would fade out like bubbles floating to the ground. “You know, giving me your sweater and messing around like this probably gives people the wrong idea, right?”
“Oh… does it?” Heeseung mumbled, voice an octave higher than usual, and he turned his face away before you could detect the dust of pink across his cheeks. “By the way, have you been to a planetarium before?”
“Nope.”
You had always heard of the large domes that showcased the night sky. People sat underneath as a narrator droned on about stories from the past and the history of the universe. However, you hadn’t ever actually been to one, although you almost would’ve if you hadn’t gotten grounded before a class trip, resulting in all of your friends going to a planetarium show without you. You remembered Yizhuo was texting you throughout the entire trip, complaining about virtually everything that was going on and telling you how much she missed you.
“You’re kidding,” Heeseung’s eyes went round. “No way! You’ve never been to a planetarium?”
“Well—”
“Oh my god,” he continued, absolutely astounded. “Have you even lived?”
“I’ve just never had the chance!” you argued. “It’s not like anyone’s ever asked me to go to one. Plus, if there’s anyone I’d go with, I’d rather just go with you.”
Silence.
You and Heeseung had been settling into a lot of awkward pauses lately. It always followed some odd comment or action between you two, like when he got extremely close to you on the yacht. You still had no idea what exactly his intentions were during that whole ordeal, but your heart had never raced so fast.
Eventually, your silence was broken by an employee ushering you and Heeseung to walk past the velvet ropes and into the observatory building. You both were still silent upon walking in, but when you saw the signs pointing to the planetarium, you nudged your best friend’s side.
“It says the next showing starts in five minutes,” you pointed out.
“Fuck.” He slapped the pockets of his jeans, feeling for something solid in them. “I have my tickets—somewhere. Give me a second.”
Thankfully, he managed to figure out that he saved his tickets to his Apple Wallet. The sign stating that the shows were sold out nearly made your heart drop, but, of course, Heeseung had planned this out well in advance.
As always.
“Where should we sit?” you asked when you walked into the room, looking up at the dome-shaped ceiling in awe.
“Anywhere.” Heeseung grinned at you. “All we have to do is lay back and stare at the sky, so wherever you wanna sit.”
You both settled with two seats in the middle. It was smack dab in the center of the dome, right where the screen curved. Heeseung made a comment about how this was the ideal spot because it felt like you were getting sucked in by the stars.
When the show started, you gazed up at the screen in complete awe. Swirling nebulas and galaxies were painted across the night sky, blinking down at you. The narrator’s soothing voice made you feel absolutely immersed, and you had to grab the arm rest whenever the animation started speeding through the universe.
Heeseung booed when they showed Earth, throwing up a thumbs-down and then quickly shoving his hand back into his pocket, as if the planet would take offense.
And you realized you were in love with him.
You didn’t know why it hit you right then and there—a person droning on about space overhead, glancing over at your best friend to see him gawking at the solar system—but you were certain you would never feel this way with anyone else again. The feeling stampeded through your body, making your blood rush and your bones feel light. You were engulfed in a fire that burned only for Heeseung.
It felt so simple, yet all the more complicated. You were in love with your childhood best friend—the person who had been with you through everything.
It wasn’t like fireworks. Not a splash of ice cold water or like you had been kicked in the chest. It was more like slowly sinking in quicksand, not even realizing how deep you were until you were completely submerged.
You had been in love with Golden Boy for a long time now.
Later, after the show was over, he took you outside to overlook the city. Apparently, it was quite the sight to behold from this high up. You were still gushing on and on about the planetarium show, but as soon as you took a glance over the railing, you forgot all about the wonders of space.
Now, looking over all the bright lights really made it feel like the City of Angels. You were completely captivated by the sight. It was different from how it looked from the hot air balloon; everything was so miniscule from that height, but you could see how far the city stretched from here. The lights blinked past the horizon, and you were certain this was your first time seeing stars down below instead up in the sky.
Heeseung folded his arms onto the railing and tucked his head in them. “You can’t get this view anywhere else.”
“It’s beautiful,” you said, hardly audible.
“Yeah,” he replied. You wondered if he was talking about the stars above or the city below, so you turned your head to catch where he was looking. There was an alarming spike in your heartbeat when you realized he was looking at you, but Heeseung didn’t look away this time. “It really is.”
You never fully appreciated how gorgeous Los Angeles—never really looked past all the traffic and smog and crowd. The bustling city was tiring to keep up with at times. You saw it more as the city of burnouts than the city of stars.
But here, where the stars weren’t in the sky but down below, you realized that the brightest star of them all was the one right next to you.
It was Heeseung.
“You don’t still wish you were in the Bahamas, do you?” he asked suddenly, which spurred you to start laughing.
You stared up at him with incredulity in your eyes. “Hee, I never once wished I was in the Bahamas when I was with you.” You nodded to yourself. “I’d say you made this a successful summer.”
Your heart flipped in your chest when you saw those gleaming eyes and bright smile of his. It almost lit up the sky brighter than the city of Los Angeles itself. The way he was looking at you made you forget everything you were saying.
“Actually,” he started shyly, “there's something else that could make this summer perfect.”
“What’s that?”
“Will you go out with me?”
The question knocked you off orbit, electrifying every nerve in your body like it was cut wire. You weren’t sure what expression you wore on your face, but the shy look on Heeseung’s face was plunging you deeper in that inescapable quicksand. Of course, your friends had suspected this all along, but hearing it yourself was entirely different. You felt like you were glowing brighter than Polaris.
“I’ve liked you since we were kids,” he started to explain after gauging that you still needed time to process his words. “It’s not like I just felt this way overnight. I was just trying to make the right choices so that I could stay by your side for as long as I could. I mean, I’ll always be your best friend, Y/N, but I also wanna be something more than that to you.”
“And it’s okay if you don’t feel the same way,” he continued. “I knew that this could possibly ruin our friendship, but I also knew that if I didn’t tell you how I felt, then I would’ve been lying to you through college, too.” He sucked in a shuddering breath. “It’s only ever been you.”
Change was hard. You’d been at war with your mind for a while now over starting something new with Heeseung. Although it was unfamiliar and new, and although you were scared of things potentially not working out, you still wanted to try for him.
“You don’t have to worry about ruining our friendship.” The words were on your tongue like a pearl. Your soul leaked out of your body, straight into the Earth, then seeped back into you with newfound bravery. You blinked back tears that dared to spill and sounded so stupidly breathless when you confessed, “I’m in love with you, too, Hee.”
His eyes were as wide as saucers, unblinking. “You are?”
His voice was soft, imploring, almost desperate, so you stepped closer and cupped his cold cheeks with your warm hands. Heeseung’s gaze seemed faraway, but he placed his hands over yours, as if he was trying to make sure you were real.
“I don’t think there’s anyone else out there who would rent an entire hot air balloon just to make sure I wouldn’t miss the Bahamas.” You laughed, a moonstruck grin on your face. “And, for the record, I’d choose you over a stupid vacation any day.”
You had been waiting to see his face break into that dazzling smile of his where his eyes crinkled at the corners. Instead, Heeseung just gazed at you longingly before he placed a hand on your cheek and bent down to kiss you.
His mouth moved with yours carefully, almost like he was too scared to go any further. You moved your hands to loop around his neck, drawing him closer so that you could slowly deepen the kiss. You were grateful that Heeseung waited to match your pace, and soon he was dropping his hands to grab at your waist and pull you closer to him, too. It sent butterflies straight to the pit of your stomach whenever he smiled between kisses, mumbling something about how pretty you were or how he had been waiting to do this forever.
Sometimes, you realized, feelings didn’t need to be expressed through words. You didn’t need the confirmation because with Heeseung’s lips pressed to yours, you felt like you were glowing brighter than the stars above.
Tumblr media
You supposed you could say your parents were a little shocked to come back home and discover a major change in your relationship status.
You had to give them the rundown of what happened, of course. It wasn’t very hard to do, considering you had reiterated the same story to Yizhuo about a hundred times until she was satisfied. Thankfully, your other friends just needed to hear it once to fully grasp that Heeseung was now your boyfriend. For Yeji, you had to bring out a whiteboard just to draw everything out to her over FaceTime.
As you broke down what happened while your parents were in Rome, you noticed the silver necklace on your mother’s neck that glimmered whenever the light caught it. You smiled to yourself when you realized it was probably your stepfather’s honeymoon present, and you were grateful that your mother was able to experience such a wonderful love herself.
“See?” There was an excited gleam in your mother’s eyes as she bit into one of the chocolate chip cookies you and Heeseung made for them last night. She pointed the cookie in your stepfather’s direction. “I told you they’d get together!”
“I thought so, too!” he agreed. “That’s why I had that little talk with Heeseung when you two dropped us off at the airport.”
“That’s what you guys were talking about?!” you exclaimed, jumping up to your feet and then sinking back down in your seat with your hands covering your face. “I knew it was gonna be something embarrassing.”
“Oh, honey, don’t say that. Have a cookie.”
“Thanks, Mom,” Heeseung, who had been silent the whole conversation, spoke up. He reached over and took the cookie from your mother, but you smacked his hand lightly while he was bringing it to his mouth. “Hey! You almost made me drop my cookie!”
You huffed. “She was talking to me, idiot.”
You were honestly over-the-moon that dating Heeseung was this easy. You worried about having a boyfriend and having to go through the hassle of introducing him to your parents and waiting for them to warm up to him. With Heeseung, though, he was already like family in your household, so nothing felt too different.
Except that your parents could outwardly tease you both now.
Since you were in his parents’ good graces, too, everything seemed to click for you two. Both of your parents were planning to go out for dinner sometime this week to celebrate your new relationship, which you felt was a little over-the-top. You suspected that Mrs. Lee was hoping you would be her future daughter-in-law.
They were even planning on renting a Airbnb together for yours and Heeseung’s move-in at Yale. It was almost terrifying how everyone in your life seemed to be fully on-board for this relationship.
Not that you were complaining, though.
“Are you guys going somewhere now?” your mother asked, eyeing Heeseung’s white button-up that you were wearing over your swimsuit. “Make sure you wear sunscreen. It’s supposed to be the hottest day of the year.”
You checked your bag to make sure your sunscreen was, in fact, there. Heeseung took his baseball cap off to put it on your head, which made you crack a smile.
“Yeah, we’re going to the beach,” you said. “Yizhuo and Chenle wanted to spend the day at Santa Monica, and then we were gonna head over to Jungwon’s house.”
“Well, have fun.” Your mother moved to the kitchen to grab Tupperware to package the cookies. Your stepfather followed her in to help her out. “I’m sorry we couldn’t go to the Bahamas this year, but the beach has to be the next best thing, right?”
You shared a grin with Heeseung, and his eyes crinkled beautifully at the corners. “Yeah, it’s exactly like the Bahamas if I close my eyes.”

Asshole got the drop on you.
You were checking your corners this time, talking calmly into your radio as you slowly swept the perimeter of the warehouse you and Ghost had been sent to investigate. There had been fair resistance, one that had been thinned by your sniper fire as Ghost moved interior. It had only been once he’d sounded the all clear that you clambered down from your perch on the hill and had moved to rendezvous with your LT.
A noise catches your attention, a rolling bottle that clattered against the concrete. You pivot sharply, weapon raised and moving silently towards the source of the sound. Too late do you realize it’s a distraction, and before you can spin on your heel to face the presence that makes the hairs on your neck rise, the world cracks with color and you’re sent spinning to the ground.
It takes a moment for you to orient yourself, and the first thing you recognize is the splitting pain just above your right ear, so fierce it nearly blinds you. Yet the enemy behind you doesn’t seem to care, towering over you and reaching for your form with darkly clad hands. Body operating on pure instinct, you reach for the knife on your vest, slash across his calf so he stumbles. It doesn’t take much after that, as you swiftly stand and fire once from your side arm, the man slumping to the ground limply.
“Fix, how copy?” Ghost suddenly barks into your radio, having heard the commotion, and the noise screeches in your ears. Too loud, too loud. It hurts, the place where the AQ agent hit you with the butt of his rifle, likely out of ammo. The pain unfurls across your skull, has you scrunching your eyes shut with a groan of blooming pain that feels bitter on your tongue.
“Fix.” Ghost tries again, and you shudder an exhale as you try to breathe through the pain, eyes closed as you blindly fumble for your radio.
“Copy. I’m injured. Moving to your position.”
There’s a pause, and you try vainly to right yourself, checking your gear and toeing the edge of the body at your feet so you can navigate around it with your eyes closed as much as possible.
“Negative. Stay where you are. I’m coming to you.”
You wince at that, not out of pain, but at the griping irritation in Ghost’s voice at your injury. You’ll probably hear about it later, but for now you focus on trying to find somewhere to sit down so Ghost can find you. The world wobbles dangerously around you, and the first turn of your head summons a low, stifled groan at the pulsing gunshot of pain that flares behind your eyelids.
“All stations- I’ve got one wounded. Standby.”
Way to advertise, Ghost. You think with a little frown, glad that now every operator on this mission knows you have a fucking headache. You press a hand to the center of the pain and instantly draw the touch away with a hiss, feeling the skin react to your fingers. They feel wet. It’s agonizing, the pain, it feels like someone has decided to try and fracture you open to look inside, forgetting how to close you back up. It feels like the only thing you can think of, your world consumed by a tilting dizziness and growing nausea that sits heavy and sour in your stomach.
It doesn’t take long for Ghost to find you, and when he does there’s little fanfare as he immediately moves to assess you.
“Eyes up.” He demands, and despite the curtness it’s a touch gentle, encouraging as a gloved hand tilts your chin up and then to the side so he can examine the growing welt on the side of your skull.
“How’s your head?” He asks blandly, trying to part the hair from your temple to see the injury.
“No complaints yet, LT. At least not from you.” You try, voice wobbling a little but trying to see if you can get a reaction from him.
Ghost takes a moment to catch what you’ve said, pauses, sighs. You snicker.
He elects to ignore you, which is a little disappointing, and admittedly a little worrying too. If he’s not up for jokes, whatever injury he’s looking at must be serious. You wonder if it’s worse than you think it is, which is to say it might be pretty fucking bad.
Headache, light sensitivity, nausea, bleeding…You grimace, years of medic training efficiently narrowing down the probable causes to a short and frankly worrying list of possible causes. The thought is short circuited to nothing as Ghost turns you slightly, making the world shift violently under you and something terrible roll in your stomach at the horrific wash of pain it summons.
“Fix. Look at me.” Ghost tells you, and you force your eyes open to see the black void of his war paint mere inches from your own. He blinks underneath his mask at whatever he finds in your eyes scrunched with pain, brow scrunching in sudden concentration.
“How many fingers am I holding up?” Ghost asks you abruptly, and despite the steadiness of his voice his hand is gripping your shoulder with a sudden severity that does little to anchor you from the spinning room.
You try to focus on his skeletal fingers with little success.
“...Two? Three?” You cut yourself off with a groan, pressing a hand to your head to try and dull the pain. It’s no use. It blooms blindingly behind your eyelids, carving deep into your skull with unrelenting mercy. You feel wetness trickle over the heel of your palm, warm and red.
“Ghost…” You try, unsure of what you're pleading for. Mercy? Help? A bullet between the eyes to make it stop?
"Fix." Ghost tries again, and his shadow falls over you, dwarfing you with his size. His voice has taken on an urgent growl that misfires in the back of your thoughts because it sounds like fear.
"How many fingers?"
You try to focus on them, the digits wavering in front of your face. You squint your eyes, but it summons a sudden, violent wave of nausea that turns your stomach upwards.
"I-I think I'm going to be sick." You manage, and double over to the side, just in time for the bile in your stomach to avoid hitting Ghost's boots.
You hear him curse, bark over the comms for med-evac, and when you try to straighten you overcorrect, fall straight off the crate and into his arms.
"Fix!"
“S-shit. Sorry.” You fumble, but do nothing to try and raise yourself up, too consumed by the red pulsing pain behind your eyelids. “Fuck. Fuck it hurts.”
You don’t like to complain. As the medic your whining only serves as a poor example. Now, however, you grant yourself the reprieve of your quickly slurring words trailing into a broken string of curses you use to distract yourself.
“Hush.” Ghost tells you, and there’s a flash of recognition as you try and place the waver in his voice. Anger? Fear? You can’t tell. His arm cradles you against his chest, a knee braced at your back to keep you sitting upright. “Breathe through it, stay with me.”
Stay with you? You think dumbly. You’re right here, you can’t move. Where the hell are you supposed to go?
“Simon-” You try, confused, spinning, a hand grasping at the strap of his vest. It takes effort to raise your hand, and you realize with a flash of alarm that your body isn’t nearly as responsive as you think it is. “W-wait, Simon. It’s-”
You can’t find the words, but Ghost seems to understand, because he suddenly goes rigid and begins yelling into his radio with a sudden volume that makes you whimper. Whatever you try to say next is swallowed by his arms suddenly closing around you, lifting you up as the world moves around you.
“Fix. Pet, I need you to stay awake for me.” He tells you, voice taking on a new tenderness that betrays his sincere worry. You try and nod, but even that feels like too much, so you try and stay still, try to breathe like he’s told you, even when bile boils in your stomach at the dizzying turn of the earth under you both.
“S-sick-” You try, trying to smack at his vest to warn him, but Ghost doesn’t stop moving. You end up trying to twist away with little success, a little dribble of sickness trickling down the front of your vest.
“You’re alrigh’.” He tells you through gritted teeth, and somehow you don’t believe him. “Stay awake, Fix. Just a little longer.”
How much longer? You think desperately, stomach rolling with the pain splitting your skull. The movement doesn’t help, merely exacerbates your violent agony that forces you into limp stillness to just try and breathe through it.
“Si-imon…” You whimper again in a bid for mercy.
When Simon responds with your name, you know it’s bad.
He shakes you a little as you go pliant in his arms, growling a reminder to stay awake that you can’t seem to heed. You try to apologize, but the words feel useless on your tongue. Darkness beckons with a sweet promise of painless unconsciousness you desperately want to cave to.
“Don’t you fucking sleep on me.” Simon growls at you, suddenly desperate, and you try to lift a hand to his face, to reassure him it’s only a little nap. All you succeed in is loosening your grip from his vest. Your hand falls limply against you.
“Don’t hate me for this, Si.” You think weakly as your head falls forward into your chest, and you succumb to nothingness.

warnings. 18+ only!!
Sometimes, and only sometimes, did Bucky feel like being mean to you. Not mean as cruel and hateful, but instead teasing - controlling. The need to dominate and have his way with you would strike him from nowhere.
Well, not always nowhere.
It may have been because of the way you bumped up against him during last night’s slumber - perhaps it was the tempting outline of your tits in the thin fabric of your robe during breakfast. Maybe it was how you'd ask him for help reaching things in the kitchen, soft whines with extended arms - or even as simple as the way you'd look at him.
Of course, to you, this was all mindless. You weren't even doing anything to grab the attention of your lover. But not to Bucky. These little things you did only added fuel to the already burning fire.
So now, the need to get his own back was the only thing keeping him going - the only thing to push him through the morning of your accidental and albeit brutal teasing.
You were in the kitchen, cutting some fruit when you hear Bucky’s footsteps entering the room.
"Mango?" you ask over your shoulder, holding up a cube between thumb and index.
Making his way closer, he eats the fruit from your fingers, kissing your thumb as if to savour the juice.
"Good, right?"
He hums approvingly, chewing the last little bit.
"We have the whole day. What do you want to do?" you ask, keeping your eyes ahead as you continue slicing fruits. "We have that dinner with your friends at six, though."
He situates himself behind you, his stomach pressing up against your mid back, arms reaching around to hug you from behind. "Have some ideas," he teases, craning his neck to press a kiss into the side of your neck.
You hum, amused and intrigued, silently asking him to share.
The hands wrapped around your middle trail downwards, one fleshed palm grazing over the bow of your robe - slight force sliding through the gap underneath. With his skin flat on your skin, you feel the warm contact of his touch.
Though, that only lasts so long before the placement of that warmth shifts, moving swiftly to hover over the front of your underwear. Bucky's middle finger itches down, the pad brushing over your clit through the fabric.
"I have to meet Sam out front in five," he whispers into the skin at the base of your throat, the words warm and soft against your skin.
"Wait, what?" you mumble, tone whiney from the toying between your thighs.
He hums, the sound silky.
"That's not long at all," you mutter, reaching for his hand on your cunt - wrapping your own around his wrist needily.
"I know, honey," teeth grazing up the delicate parts of your neck. "Which is why we have to finish this up later."
"No, what?" your head drops back against his shoulder, eyes looking up at him eagerly. "That's not fair. No, come on, please."
"I know," he coos, frowning with faux sympathy - a faint smile creeping through. "So mean of me."
He slips his hand from between your thighs, moving back up to retie your robe before standing aside. He reaches for a piece of mango on the chopping block and pops a chunk into his mouth, eyes lazily taking you in.
"I'll be back in an hour," he presses a kiss into your cheek and moves to the front door - slipping on his gym shoes.
"Don't wanna hear it. You're not my friend anymore."

i was thinking a whiskey if you please? :) with a side of a bbf!steve rogers? (brother’s best friend and that brother is bucky) idk recently i’ve found similarities in my physical appearance to bucky so it was just a random thought lol- but basically steve is a sweetheart towards the reader and that causes her to crush on him (and ofc cause he’s hot) and the prompt could be "Let him watch." (him being bucky 🤭)

A party. A one off visit. The boy you've been in love with since you were a kid.
Your brothers best friend.
The notorious frat boy who's always had a soft spot for you.
There's so many people in this house, you can barely stand. Bass bouncing, bodies moving, sweat dripping down backs. Lights flashing, drinks flowing, hands roaming and exploring.
You're sandwiched between two strangers when you feel a solo cups worth of liquid pour down your back, drenching you. You gasp and turn around, but can't find the culprit. Looking around the room, you search for Bucky, hoping he'll give you the key to his room so you can grab a new shirt from your overnight bag.
You fight your way through the crowd, desperate to find your brother. You can see what seems like a thousand frat boys, not one of them the one you want.
"Are you okay?" someone shouts at you, warm hand finding your shoulder.
It's Steve, who looks a little concerned, crease etched in between his brows.
"Someone threw a drink down my back," you yell back. "I can't find Bucky!"
"He's with Nat, in the backyard. Come with me."
Before you can protest, he's intertwining his fingers with yours, pulling you upstairs.
You've never been in Steve's room at college. Back home, you've been in it a thousand times, but this is different. This is a place for grown up Steve, not a kid anymore Steve. This feels more sacred, somehow.
"Sorry about the mess."
You look around, and can't understand what he's talking about. The place is virtually spotless, everything neat and tidy.
"You're the least messy person I know, Steve."
He laughs and opens his closet, searching through his clothes.
"Which one? Green or blue?"
He holds up two shirts, one in each hand, offering them to you.
"Blue, please. It'll go with my skirt better."
You take it from him, a tiffany coloured tee with ROGERS written on the back. You remember him wearing it, at a practise football tournament a couple of years back.
Without thinking, you peel your wet shirt over your head, standing in front of Steve in your bra. The beer you've been sipping on has lowered your inhibitions, bravery coursing through your veins.
His eyes roam over you before he shakes his head, diverting his gaze.
"You're so beautiful," he mumbles. "Most beautiful girl in the world."
You look at him incredulously, unsure if you heard him correctly.
"What?"
"You heard me. I've never met anyone as pretty as you."
"Steve, you're drunk."
"No drunker than you are."
He takes a step towards you, trailing his fingertips up your arm.
"Shouldn't you be with some college cheerleader or something?" you whisper.
He laughs, low and warm.
"I haven't slept with anyone since I got here."
You scoff.
"You've been here for months. I don't believe that for a second."
"It's true. I've been too busy thinking about-"
He cuts himself off, dancing his fingers up to rest against your cheek. He cradles your face in his hand, looking at you seriously.
"I can't stop thinking about you."
"Me?" you whisper in disbelief.
"Yes, you. I know it's not fair on Bucky, but I don't know what else to do. It's not my fault his sister is so easy to fall in love with."
"You love me?" you choke out, eyes welling with tears. You take a breath to try and ground yourself, half convinced you're dreaming.
"I think I've loved you for years. Do you know how excited I was when Bucky said you were coming to visit? Most exciting thing to happen to me in months. I really miss you."
"I miss you too. So much. It's surprisingly hard being apart."
"I don't want to hurt Bucky," he murmurs.
"Me neither. That's the last thing I want to do. Ever."
"But I'm also sick of denying what I want."
He lunges forward and captures your lips, pulling you into him. It's tender and sweet and full of so many years of things unsaid.
You pull away to rest your forehead on his, breathing him in.
"I love you too, by the way," you whisper against his lips.
The grin he gives you is so bright, it's like looking at the sun. He is your sun. Your light in the dark. The only boy you've ever loved.
A harsh knock on the door startles you both.
"Steve, it's Sam! You in there? I need you to be my beer pong partner!"
"I'll, uh, I'll be out in a second!" Steve yells back.
"Come on, hotshot. They're wondering where you are," you chuckle, leaning up to kiss him chastely.
You throw his shirt on and check your reflection in the mirror, turning around when you hear Steve groan.
"What?"
"You look so good in my clothes."
"Control yourself, Rogers, or else Bucky's going to see."
"Let him watch," he winks, grinning when you laugh.
He links your hands and pulls you out of the door, ready to accept the inevitable consequences of being in love with his best friends sister.

⊹₊┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ୨୧ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈₊⊹
The sound of the water from the bathroom connected to you and your boyfriend’s shared room abruptly stopped, finally letting you properly hear the K-drama that was currently playing on the TV. Your boyfriend had decided to treat you to a date earlier and took you to the luxurious Italian restaurant you’d been talking about for weeks. The both of you had come home pretty tired, Jeongguk deciding to take a quick shower after you finished using the bathroom to do your nightly skincare.
You were laid in bed, occupying yourself with a TV show while you waited for Jeongguk to join you in bed after a long night. The drama had long lost you with its twisted and confusing plot, leaving you with nothing to do but wait for your boyfriend to finish washing up. Your head perked up at the sound of the door opening, signaling that Jeongguk had at last come out. A quick glance was all it took for every ounce of drowsiness in your body to be replaced with excitement, making your core hot with arousal and unusually empty as you scanned your boyfriend’s body.
His long, wet hair dripped down his body while the rest stuck to his forehead. His bare face looked so kissable, making you resist the urge to run up and kiss him all over. The rolling water droplets led you to his toned, tan body which was on full display. The dampness gave his pecs and abs a nice sheen, highlighting all of the right places. The towel didn’t do much at covering him up, hanging low enough to expose his sharp V-line. You were practically drooling at the sight, wishing nothing more than for the towel to drop to the floor.
“My eyes are up here, princess” He raspily chuckled, secretly enjoying how you were eye-fucking him not that long ago. He began to walk closer to you while using a spare towel to dry up his hair. “Look a little too good for my liking” You muttered, taking the chance to wrap your arms around his waist and press your cheek against his abdomen while he ran his fingers through your hair. His sweet musky scent was going to drive you insane, making you need him impossibly closer.
You lifted your head to give him your best puppy eyes, something you did whenever you wanted a kiss. He smirked and leaned down to face level, giving you quick pecks before finally locking his lips with your own. He lazily kissed you, feeling like there was all the time in the world while he slowly devoured you. The hand tangled in your hair slowly moved down to your neck, giving it a light squeeze and sighing in approval at your reaction. The sound that came out of you was between a moan and a hum, hands inevitably traveling to the towel on his lower body before he pulled away.
“Gukkie.. How am I supposed to sleep now?” You whined and threw your head back in annoyance at the devilish smirk now plastered on his face.
“Don’t know, figure it out though ‘cause I’m tired as fuck.” He lied, only for the sole purpose of wanting to rile you up and hear you beg. You eyed him as he walked over to his side of the bed, taking out some boxers from the bottom drawer on his nightstand. You felt as if he were doing this on purpose, no way was he going to choose today of all days to sleep practically naked. Somehow his usual sleep attire had gone from sweats and a t-shirt to only boxers. At this you huffed. Being your boyfriend’s spoiled princess meant you got what you want, whenever you wanted. Tonight, however, seemed to be different.
The left side of the mattress dipped before the bedroom suddenly grew dark as Jeongguk had now turned off both the TV and lamp. “Goodnight baby, I love you” He turned to you while throwing the sheets over his body.
“Not fair..” You pouted, sitting up and crossing your arms. Jeongguk’s lips broke into a smile, finding you adorable but not quite yet wanting to give you what you wanted. He propped himself on one arm to reach your face and peck your lips, “Night, princess”
“Ugh..” you groaned, watching him fall flat on his back and close his eyes. You were hot and needy, and it didn’t help that you had already been holding yourself back all day. He had decided to wear a fitted suit to the date, all black with the top buttons of his dress shirt undone. If you had no respect for the people dining, you would’ve taken him right then and there.
You weren’t the only one who’d been holding back tonight. You had decided to match with Jeongguk by wearing a black silk dress, slit high enough to expose your beautiful long legs and low back cut to show your dimples of venus. The sight made him want to fuck you at least until the only word you knew was his name.
Jeongguk had been able to successfully hide his raging boner from you at the dinner, knowing that the two of you wouldn’t have made it home before having a quickie in the car had you seen it. He wanted to make you feel good without dealing with the limited space of his car’s backseat, needing the bed to bend you in all positions possible. But first, he wanted to make you wait like he had all night.
You got the idea of straddling him, giving him one more chance before you decided to rest even if that meant you’d go to sleep frustrated. “Baby..” you climbed onto his lap, kissing his face like you had wanted earlier. His lips twitched, very obviously fighting back a smile. This didn’t go unnoticed, motivating you to trail lower in hopes of him breaking. Your lips caressed his neck, occasionally pressing down in order to find his sweet spot.
Not only were your actions making it harder for Jeongguk to hold himself back, but his own body began to betray him as he felt his cock grow hard enough to connect with your core through the thin sheets. Your wet mouth on his neck and heat on his length made his head spin, the need to make you wait suddenly evaporating.
You were taken by surprise when Jeongguk flipped you onto your back without a warning, manhandling you from his lap in order to hover over you. Your lips parted with a gasp, shocked at Jeongguk’s sudden actions yet excited that your idea had worked.
“So fucking impatient, hm?” He groaned, slapping the side of your thigh with his tattooed hand. “Strip.” He ordered, watching you waste no time peeling off your clothes. He took a moment to drink in your body, the body he would never miss a chance to bury himself deep in. Frail neck he had marked with purple bruises endless times, perky tits he’d fuck after a long day, feeling your tongue repeatedly kitten-lick his tip, the waist that was molded perfectly for his hands to wrap around, everything about you was perfect to him.
“Tsk, such a needy slut. ‘S why you wore that dress tonight hm? Wanted me to fill up your tight cunt?” The second slap sounded louder, echoing throughout to room because of his hand’s contact with your now bare skin, but even then you couldn’t hold back your smirk.
He looked so hot above you. The arm he was using to prop himself up with was flexed, tempting you to mark him up everywhere, making sure anyone who stared would know he belonged to someone. His long locks hung above you, hooded eyes peeking through his bangs to hungrily stare at your lips. A detail you’d almost missed was the chain that hung from his neck. It was a simple, thin, gold chain with a small round pendant that had a “J” carved on it.
“And what if I did, you wore this chain ‘cause you knew it would hang in my face tonight huh?” You hooked a finger on the jewelry, using it to pull his face down close enough to seal your lips together in a heated kiss, letting him lap at your mouth like there was no tomorrow. His hand caressed your thigh, slowly feeling him inch lower which made your breath grow unsteady. Despite your lack of oxygen, you still found yourself whining when he pulled away.
“Do you like it?” He breathed out, to which you nodded in response. He pushed himself up to stand on his knees, bringing his hands to the back of his neck to unclasp the chain. “Lift up your head, baby” Still laying down, you separated your head from the pillow as you watched him secure the necklace around you.
“Fuck” Blood rushed to his cock, looking down at his initial snug between your bare tits would send him into a frenzy. Leaning back down, he caught your lips in a kiss again. “Do you even know what you do to me?” He mumbled against your lips, hand resuming its previous actions. The heat pooled in your stomach had been released as arousal, making your pussy all wet and sticky.
He dragged his middle finger through your folds with ease, never having to use lube when you were with him. His teeth nipped at your bottom lip making your brain grow foggy at how well he worked you up. A second finger came down to your sopping cunt to slowly spread your juices. The moans Jeongguk had to swallow for you were an indicator that you were enjoying this. “So wet just for me..” He mumbled.
“Mhmm inside..” your hips jerked up, impatient for the fingers circling around your nub to enter your clenching hole. At this, he retracted his hands only to earn him a string of whiny no’s. “So greedy but can’t even use her manners.” He taunted, brushing the hair out of your face. “Please.., baby, need you- ahh” You buried your face into the pillow next to you at the feel of his thick, long fingers pushing inside of you unexpectedly. The stretch of his two fingers entering you caused a slight ache, but still nothing in comparison to his rather girthy cock.
He began to languidly circle his fingers inside of you, wanting to prolong the pleasure before pumping inside of you. “Such a whore for my fingers, huh?” He chuckled, experimenting with a hard thrust of his digits. A long moan erupted from your mouth, forming an O-shape as he continued to pump slowly yet deeply. He knew his way around your body, having explored it one too many times. Even then, you will never grow accustomed to the pleasure that comes from his fingertips feathering around your g-spot.
All he had to do was curl his fingers into the spongy tissue to have you moaning incoherently under him. “Feel so.. F-fuck ‘m gonna cum, please” Your thighs began to squeeze around Jeongguk’s hand while your orgasm rapidly approached. “Be a good girl and hold in for me, yea?” He pulled his fingers out, bringing them to your mouth, “Open.”
You did as told and he shoved them in, cutting your voice short and stopping you from protesting before you even got a chance to. Tears coated your eyes as you gagged around his fingers, feeling him press down on your tongue while he used his free hand to rip off his boxers. His hard cock sprung out, making you whine in anticipation to be filled up. He pulled his fingers back with a pop, your mouth having sucked them clean. His hand trailed down to his hard-on, slapping the tip on your wet cunt shortly before rubbing it between your folds and groaning in the process.
Having stretched you out enough, he sharply thrust into you, “Ugh, just like tha-at, more” Your hands reached his back and sharply clawed down, imprints of your nails adorning his smooth skin as a reminder of tonight. “So dirty for me, love the way I fuck you open? Is that it?” He spoke between thrusts. “Fuck me so good… A-always so good” The sounds of his balls hitting your skin and squelching of your pussy along with Jeongguk’s huge cock had you fucked stupid.
“Yea? Fuck you so good ‘cause you’re mine” He shoved himself inside of you hard enough to prove a point. The constant impact had your tits bouncing, making the pendant of his necklace move with them. The sight of this alone had Jeongguk’s hips moving erratically against you, feeling your plush walls contract deliciously around his length. You took him so well, proving you were made just for him.
“Such a good pussy. All. Mine. Right?” He moaned in between pumps, eager to hear your whiny voice tell him what you were. “All y-yours, Jeongguk, always!” You cried out, needing nothing more than Jeongguk’s permission to reach your high.
Jeongguk was close, only needing your affirming words to shoot his thick load inside of you. “That’s right, only I can fuck you like this, make you squirm like this, you’re all for me baby” He wiped the line of drool that dripped down your cheek with his thumb. “Fuck, can't hold it!” Tears were dripping down your cheeks at this point, leaving a salty taste on your tongue as they rolled down into your mouth.
“Go ahead, pretty girl deserves to cum” He kept his attention on your tits with his chain, the view combined with your clenching walls made his hips stutter. The knot in your stomach had finally erupted, making you able to hear the blood rushing through your veins as bliss washed over you. Your vision had been long turned blurry due to the tears, ears choosing to block all sounds aside from Jeongguk’s deep moans. Your essence was now dripping down his thighs as he shot his own into you, continuing to rock his hips against yours to bury his seed deep inside. He pressed himself flush against your hot skin and held you.
It wasn’t until your legs began to shake that he pulled out, hearing your weak voice whisper “too much” under him.
“You okay, hun?” He asked, beginning to stand up to give you space after the overstimulation only to be pulled back down. “Stay, ‘m okay” you confirmed. “I’d love to, but I gotta clean us up and get you some water.” You whined but nevertheless loosened your grip in comprehension. “Be quick”
Safe to say he had cuddled you all night after that, soothingly combing your hair as he whispered sweet nothings into your ear until you slept. He soon found himself dozing off with the happiest smile at the sight of the J so beautifully hung around your neck.
“It’s yours as long as you’re mine, y/n”
A/N: not to proud of this one but fuck it we ball

Being one of the girls Derek Danforth keeps around, you’re bound to deal with some of the bullshit that comes along with it.
But unbeknownst to you, he likes you a little more than he'd like to admit.
He hasn't seen any of the others in weeks now, his mind only occupied with his thoughts of you and when you're not around. And when you're actually with him, paying for the pleasures of your company, he can't help but want more from you when he knows that's beyond your limits.
It's simple, really.
He's a lonely man, and he knows that; knows that his personality is hard to swallow and tolerate. Knows it's pathetic that all he can do is pay for people to actually stick around.
But, there's only so much a lonely man can take.
So, that's when he starts seeing you, exclusively, ‘cause to be fair? You’re the only one who’s bothered to stay by his side for this long.
The only one who’s ever made him feel.. something.
It’s been a few months now since you started seeing Derek. The first few visits from you immediately captured his attention; your disposition being unlike any he's ever encountered before.
Being surrounded by other like-minded people such as himself, it's safe to say that it's all he's ever known. The rich and prosperous life that everyone else around him has. The ability to get anything he wants in a blink of an eye, regardless of what it was, extravagant or not.
You on the other hand? It wasn't so easy.
Maybe it was because you were so hard to get. Maybe it was because he liked the challenge.
He didn't know why he was so captivated by you. But, what he did know was the fact that he needed to.
Tumblr media
"Hey, I know we said next week, but I need you here now."
Derek had called you, urgently as it seemed while you were out. Despite the heads up you gave him about your upcoming plans the last time you saw each other, he didn't care, and that was something you were already preparing for.
"Derek, I told you: I can't do today. We agreed that it was fine." You spoke directly into the phone, walking away from your friends at the club you were at to a quieter area; away from the deafening music that shook every inch of the perimeter.
"Are you at a club right now?"
You sighed exasperatedly, the irritation in your tone evident as you reached an empty corridor near the bathroom, body leaning against the wall. "Yes, Derek, did I have to specify my plans to you as well?"
He let out a small laugh that made you stiffen, throat tightening.
"What's with the attitude, baby? It was a harmless fuckin' question."
You were used to this with him; the casual swearing, the way he spoke to you. It was nothing new, and everything you had already adapted to.
But, God, did it annoy the fuck out of you sometimes.
"No attitude. Just wondering why the hell you need me on my day off. I'm having some fun here, is that a problem?"
"Without me? 'Course it is," He exclaimed, his voice giving off his arrogance, "Why have fun there when you could be doin' that with me here?"
You swallowed sharply and licked your bottom lip, looking up and around you as you shook your head, hesitant on his inquiry. "I don't know, Derek.. I, I'm with my friends. Promised I'd be here tonight.." You paused, "They think I 'see you too much' already, y'know?"
"Fuck what your friends think. Come on, come see me, baby. I'll make it worth your while."
He was desperate, you could tell that much.
You rolled your eyes at that, your declaration already evoking his direct persuasions. "And how would you do that, Mr. Danforth?" You teased, "You know I don't play that shit with you."
He sighed into the phone, "Got something better then. You wanna relax, clear your head a bit? Fuck, I got it all for you," He implied what you thought he did, a slight weak spot that you didn't mind partaking in once in awhile.
He knew you were stressed with college, hence why you took this job in the first place; to ease the expenses you had to deal with. He also knew what you liked.
Still, who were you if one measly opportunity to get high bought you out?
"..And?" The word trailed off your tongue, drawing it out.
"I'll pay double tonight."
Too easy. "Fine."
You straightened yourself out, preparing to make up some lousy excuse to your friends of your departure. One that you knew they'd easily figure out.
"Text me the address."
Done. You heard the ding from the speaker of his phone alert him.
"Sending a car your way. Be out in 15."
Tumblr media
You were intrigued by Derek.
Despite how much of an asshole he was, despite the privileged life that he's been able to live; the complete opposite of what you had been given.. you were intrigued by him.
The way he ticked, the way he carried himself.
The way everyone knew so much but so little about the President's son.
You almost felt special that his desires laid with you.
The roads that grew mundane to you towards Derek's estate made your heart race, the familiarity of it all still feeling so unbelievable to fathom.
You weren't like him; you were nothing like him. So, how in the hell did you get in this position?
The abrupt stop of the car you were in snapped you out of your head, and one of the workers Derek had around opened the door for you.
"Welcome back. Mr. Danforth has been waiting for you."
You smiled at the man and nodded, thanking him gracefully as you were led into the absurdly large residence you were still foreign to.
Before you could latch your eyes onto the man expecting you, his voice introduced himself into the room first, capturing your gaze.
"There's my girl. About time." Derek spoke loudly, and proudly at that, rushing towards you eagerly. He wore a blue suit with a cheetah print button up just underneath it, and you couldn't help but admit how nice it looked on him. His outfits could be outrageous at times, but it just worked with him.
You laughed at his remark. "I saw you two days ago, Derek."
He shook his head, grinning as he pressed a small kiss to your cheek. An affectionate gesture that you agreed to in your early days with him. "Two days, too long."
You rolled your eyes and gave him a small side hug, feeling a bit more eased at his calm demeanor. It seemed like he was completely different from the Derek you spoke to on the phone. Maybe he really did just need to see you.
But you? You had no idea why he chose you.
"Well, I'm here now.. What are you gonna do with me?" You tantalized, wanting to fuck with him as much as you could. The rules you set for yourself kept him in check, but you couldn't deny how fun it was to see him squirm.
You were confident, and you knew it. You knew he wanted you. But, you knew your worth, too. You weren't going to be so easy.
At least, not unless it was on your own circumstances.
He took a deep breath and put his hand on your lower back, beginning to lead you towards the abundant living room that he had all to himself. Matter of fact, he had the entire place to himself.
He glanced at your face as you took your steps, explaining himself clearly, "Just what you agreed to, baby. Got what you want right here." He took his hand off of you, walking towards the elegant box on the sofa table that he quickly opened up.
Pulling out something small, he lifted it up to you, revealing the perfectly rolled up joint that put a slight smirk on your face.
Well, here we fucking go.
"You're staying true to your word, Danforth. Just what I like to see," You commented, walking up to him, "Well, don't keep me waiting."
He shook his head and scoffed lightly, "Get comfortable, then."
He sat on the couch and patted next to him, and you followed right along, the lighter suddenly in his hand igniting to present the orange flame that flickered in your eyes.
He placed the joint in between his lips, lighter hovering above the end of it as it makes that familiar sound, papered edges burning crisp. He takes a drag of it, shutting his eyes as he lets the smoke fill his mouth before inhaling it into his lungs. A familiar warmth already seeping into the environment around you.
Without a second to waste, he urges you to come closer, muttering out a, "C'mere baby," before he places the tip of the joint in between your lips for you.
You quickly take the chance to take a drag yourself, repeating his every move as you shut your eyes blissfully, the herbal scent of it filling your nose from Derek's own smoke escaping his mouth.
"Yeah," He draws out, "There you go," He mutters as he watches you intently, taking in your hazy state as you evidently begin to relax. "Feels good?"
You swallow as you flutter your eyes back open to him, slight butterflies spreading to your stomach.
..That was the weed. Not him. Definitely not him.
You just nodded as he pulled it away from you, sleekly mustering out, "Great. Feeling better already."
He smirked at you and cocked his head, "Already? We're just gettin' started, babe."
You huffed and leaned back against the couch, getting yourself more comfortable as you shook your head, "Alright, Mr. Professional over here. I don't smoke as much as you, you know that." You sighed.
"I know, I know, m' just fucking with you. Besides, you got me here now, anyways," He teased, scooting a bit closer to you, "C'mon, open up." He urged you, taking another drag coolly, eyes stuck on you.
You quickly listened, lips parting to open wide, expecting the sudden smoke that filled the air to hit you. He blew it out in your face, making you giggle from the feeling as your lungs took it in.
He licked his lips as his gaze lingered on yours, lips slowly closing shut as your body increasingly felt lighter, the substance overwhelming your foggy brain.
The more the seconds passed, the more his eyes darkened, consuming you completely.
A part of you couldn’t help but like it.
There was something so sensual about it. You knew that; there was no denying it. And maybe it was the weed too, but fuck, did it feel good with him right now.
Right now, Derek Danforth was not the condescending asshole that you occasionally dreaded being around.
Right now, Derek Danforth was slowly becoming the one thing that you craved the most.
Fuck, it really was the weed.
"Give me that." You distracted yourself from your heavy thoughts, reaching for the joint in between his fingers. He handed it to you and leaned back against the couch himself, body angled to face you entirely.
He couldn't take his eyes off of you, and now, it was you who was bound to squirm.
You avoided his gaze, taking one last drag before giving it back to him eagerly. There was only so much you could take, and normally you'd want more, but you couldn't help but fear the possibility of any more of it multiplying these thoughts of him.
The feelings that you continuously needed to deny.
Your eyes locked onto the center table just in front of you, suddenly feeling incredibly curious about the intricately built legs that screamed wealth.
Now, he obviously wasn't as high as you, because the next thing that leaves his mouth sounds a bit too coherent for him to be.
"Don't know how you went this long without me."
Your head snapped to him at that, stomach suddenly tightening with confusion at his words. A direct, accusative statement you couldn't have possibly expected to hear from him.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Nothing. Just.. with college, with this, with experiences like this.. You need me. Obviously." He exclaimed confidently, as if you should’ve known that already.
There he was. The asshole.
You sharply inhaled, scoffing as you shook your head, staring down at your lap. Your hazy mind can't even help you form words, except for the one phrase that doesn’t do your defense any justice.
"I don't.. I don't need you." The tone of it is light, gentle as it rolls off your tongue, and you hate that you're not in the right headspace for this right now.
He laughs at that. The same laugh that always makes you stiffen, freezing in your place.
"You don't.. you don't need me?" He mocks you as he takes another drag from the joint, putting it out on the ashtray in front of him, "Everybody needs someone, baby.. You shouldn't try so hard to deny that." He taunts you, and you know that it's what he wants from you.
For you to lash out. For you to show him any ounce of vulnerability that you've managed to keep composed since this relationship began.
"Especially not from someone who treats you so.. Right." He whispers out, almost grimly as he leans in closer to you, face merely inches away.
You slowly turn your head now, facing him as you shut your eyes gauzily, mind still lost in your mix of emotions. You hate him; you want to hate him so badly, but you can't.
Some fucked up part of you can't let yourself.
But, that doesn't stop you from putting up a fight.
"You treat me.. right? Is that what you think?" You begin, eyebrows furrowing as you attempt to hold yourself back, "You're an asshole, who treats everyone like shit, Derek."
He laughs, a cruel noise escaping his lips; an unexpected action that urges you on, pushing you further.
"You.. You completely disregard my feelings, my, my plans, everything in my life that doesn't have anything to do with you, you're unbearable, you—"
He cuts you off then, inching closer to you as he grins at that, "Then why the fuck do you stick around? If I'm so fucking unbearable, baby, why do you bother with me?"
"Because maybe.. there's some part of me that hopes you'll stop being such a piece of shit, Derek!" You explode now, aggravated and pushed to your limits. Pushed to show you care for him in some way.
Was this his plan all along?
You don’t know, but you let out one final remark, unable to control yourself now that you've already begun, "But, I don't fucking need you. You need me." You spit out, your seething glare locked on him.
"I need you?" He spews out, almost as if it's too unbelievable to even hear.
"Yeah, you need me."
"I need you?" He repeats bitterly.
You swallow, blatantly whispering, "You need me, Derek."
He continuously denies you, his composure slowly leaving him the more you open your mouth.
“I don’t need you. I don’t fucking need anyone.” He’s quick to say defensively as he turns away from you, refusing to allow you to get to him.
But, you know it now. You’re getting under his skin.
You press further, head closing in near his to make sure he hears your words loud & clear.
“You randomly pulled me out of my plans tonight and brought me here, Derek. What fucking for? I know you didn’t just need my fucking company. Not after you persuaded me to come. I know you better than that now.”
He shakes his head, rapid and tense, unknowingly egging you on.
“Why do you care about what the fuck I do? Who I see? Hell, even my fucking life! I thought this was all just business to you. What happened to that?”
He pauses then, processing it all. Something he's never been compelled to do before.
“..What happened to that, Derek?” You push, tone composed & steady now.
Before you can continue your little speech, before you can push him any further, he crumbles instantly; voice direct and harsh as he finally reviles into your exertions.
"I don’t—I don’t fucking know, okay! Yeah, maybe you're fucking right. Maybe that's why I always want you around. Maybe that's why you're the only fucking person that I ever want to be around. I—I just—"
“You just what?” You need to hear it, desperation seething through your voice.
He bursts out now, head turning to face you as he spits out his confession. “I can’t fucking think of anything else but you. I can’t be around anyone else without wishing it was fucking you.”
There it fucking is. But, he’s not done.
“You drive me fucking crazy, baby,” He laughs at himself, pathetic with his vulnerable words that no one else has ever gotten to hear, “And I don’t know what the fuck to do ‘cause I know this isn’t what you signed up for, but fuck, maybe I.. I do fucking need you, I don’t fucking—”
You can’t control the next thing you do.
Well, maybe you can, but you really don’t fucking want to.
It's your turn to cut him off now, after the countless times he’s done it to you; by placing your lips on his, eager and desperate as your hands slip from your lap to cup his face and pull him in close, chasing the high of his lips on yours.
He shuts his eyes as you do the same, swallowing sharply once you break it apart, eyes set on him as you await his response.
His wide eyes lock onto yours now, and he whispers out your name, shocked and unsteady, and almost in an attempt to stop you.
"God, just shut up for once." You interrupt him, pushing your lips back onto his before he can protest any further. He moans into your mouth, hands moving to grip your hips eagerly, his body closing in on you completely.
Let's just say, you don't feel so high anymore. You’re no longer confused.
You're more sure of this than anything in your fucking life.

Bi-Han so yk going to get Johnny instead of Bi-Han setting Kenshi free it’s ofc reader, Bi-Han snapping like he does but when he says Johnny lay his hand on reader? Please may I request this?
Tumblr media
I can’t write endings for shit apparently 🤣 🦦
Upon meeting the washed up movie star Johnny Cage, all you wanted was for someone to shut him up, even if it meant allowing yourself a brief few seconds of silence because those few seconds of utter silence would be nothing short of paradise; especially considering how much the man loved to run his mouth in the presence of very powerful people.
Men like Johnny were Bi-Han’s biggest pet peeve and you didn’t even feel the need to look over at him to feel his annoyance permeate the air, whereas his patience with the actor grew ever thinner with every passing comment made; Now normally you wouldn’t have questioned or gone against Liu Kang’s wisdom but Johnny Cage was possibly the last person you suspected he’d choose, but then again Lord Liu Kang wasn’t the kind who’d blindly choose people at random.
‘y/n,’ Liu Kang gestured towards a tied up Kenshi. ‘if you please.’
‘Of course Lord Liu Kang.’ You replied as you swiftly brushed past Johnny in the process, aware of the fact that his eyes were lingering on you longer then deemed appropriate; which earned him a murderous glare from Bi-Han as he grunted out a warning at Johnny’s lack of decorum, but that didn’t seem to stop anything that would come afterward.
‘Alright, alright. I’ll play my part in this martial arts LARP. The missus ought to get what she paid for.’ Johnny uttered to himself, as if he was waiting for someone to call for action, because not before long he was done hyping himself up and was already making long strides towards you whilst you were undoing a particularly tight knot. ‘Hey you! Get your damn hands off him.’ You looked over at him to scoff indignantly as you dismissed his theatrics that no one had the time nor patience for.
Upon seeing your unwillingness to participate in the scene he had created within his own head, Johnny furrowed his brows as his hand grabbed onto your bicep, causing you to flinch and halt all movement. ‘I said get your hands off-‘ but before Johnny could finish his line, Bi-Han interjected the scene by forcefully ripped him away from you; only to then send him flying across the room and into the stand that was holding up an hichuli, which shattered into a million pieces.
After seeing to it that Johnny was no longer going to be a problem going forward, Bi-Han was quick to be at your side, his voice already muffled behind his mask was low and hushed to that of a gentle whisper. ‘The idiot didn’t harm you did he?’ He asked as he assessed your bicep for anything out of the ordinary, in hopes to justify his need to knock the washed up actor down another peg or two from thinking he was within any right as to touch you. You smiled as you placed your hand down atop of his, your thumb caressing his cool skin softly, before raising his hand up to your lips to demonstrate your gratitude towards him by pressing a kiss there.
‘I’m fine Bi-Han.’ You reassured as your eyes then wandered over to glance at Johnny’s state when he groaned in pain, wipe the remnants of his hichuli off of his person as he stood back up but you were already looking back at Bi-Han when Johnny stared daggers into his back, angrily muttering under his breath. ‘You just stole me of my opportunity to hand being the one to hand his ass to him.’ You added and by the way his brows rose in curiosity, you knew that Bi-Han was smirking with pride beneath the mask at your comment.
‘Had I let you do away with him as you please,’ Bi-Han began, taking back his hand from you to then brush his fingertips down the expanse of your arm. ‘It wouldn’t have been much of a fair fight on his end.’ He finished and you couldn’t help but beam brightly at his words, feeling warm within your chest knowing how much faith and confidence he had placed in your capabilities to handle things on your own. To have him trust that you can hold your own was all you ever needed to hear from him to know that despite knowing this, Bi-Han wasn’t above his tendencies in keeping his beloved safe.
It was sweet in a way, seeing as he was often a little awkward and stiff when it came to the romantic aspects of your relationship but that didn’t mean that his attempts in showing that he cared were any less valid. He was somewhat of a secret sweetheart once you’ve saw past the walls he’s built and learnt how to recognise his affection through his every action.
‘Was that necessary brother?’ Kuai Liang’s voice interrupted your moment as he stood next to Bi-Han, casting you a concerned look to which you waved off with a hand. ‘To put him in his place.’ Bi-Han responded as he looked at Johnny in avid disgust, making sure to stand almost entirely in front of you, as though shielding you from the actor, whilst staring him down in silent challenge when he chose to look over at the three of you; Like hell Bi-Han would ever let someone like Cage get that close to you again and he would be best to keep that in mind because if he were to tear his luck, Bi-Han wouldn’t be held responsible for fighting him at full force.

Heyyy would you please do prompt 2 and (or) 9 with din? <3
Twisted Vows (Din Djarin x reader)
Masterlist | Spotify Playlist | Wanna be Tagged?
Tumblr media
Prompt: head or shoulder massages, lover’s sick habit ie being too stubborn to let someone else help
A/N: Thanks for the ask lovely!!! DIN SICK FIC!! Please, this tin can is so stubborn, I bet he’s a real hard headed dummy when he is sick. But, ofc we love our Din <3
Warnings: Allusions to sex, Din taking off the helmet, the creed being a real bitch to real life things like sickness, vomiting.
Word count: 1.6 k
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
Your eyes sparkled as you looked at the fruits before you, smiling at the shopkeeper. Your Din loved fruits but he never asked for them, he never asked for anything. Before he met you, he would often go days without eating, hopping around from planet to planet in a wild nomadic frenzy. Things only got worse when Grogu made his appearance, Din ate sparingly and gave most of his food to his baby. You loved cooking food, and you loved it when you had someone to feed.
When you appeared, you gave Din the chance to love food again, to slowly grow into the shell he hunched in after becoming a Mandalorian. He always had shown you his grumpy exterior but you clearly knew about his soft interior. You’d only see his soft side whenever he would take care of his son and more recently, when he would take care of you.
Once you were happy with your groceries you made your slow walk back to your hut, picking some flowers along the way for your flower vase. You opened the ramp to the Crest and were about to slip your shoes off and placed them beside Din’s chunky boots when a peculiar sight caught your eyes.
Your partner’s helmet somehow had grown a pair of green arms and was waddling towards your direction, a spoon in one green claw. You smiled down at your little green monster, wondering where Din might be if his helmet was walking around the house.
Your answer came almost immediately when you heard loud footsteps followed by a gruff “COVER YOUR EYES!”
You squeezed your eyes shut and heard Grogu giggling as he ran away from his dad.
“Hey Din! Catch!” you unfurled your scarf and threw it blindly.
“You can open your eyes now.” you opened one eye to see the big burly man in lounge clothes with your scarf around his face.
You set your groceries aside and scooped up the thieving babbling toddler, pulling Din’s helmet off to reveal Grogu’s cute face, a loud sigh coming from the man before you .
“Baby, what did we say about taking your Papa’s helmet?” you gently chastise, kissing his forehead gently as Din stomped towards you, stretching his arms out for his helmet. As Din got closer, you realised something was wrong. He was breathing weirdly, not his usual controlled breathing and his back was hunched slightly. He turned and gagged into his elbow, followed by a weak cough.
“Oh Din, are you okay?” you worriedly questioned, stretching your free arm out to feel his exposed neck but Din stepped back.
You narrowed your eyes at him and Din’s eyes widened under the scarf.
You whispered “do the thing” into Grogu’s ear and he immediately raised his hand, causing Din to lurch forward and collide with you.
“Not fair.” Din mumbled in defeat as you touched his neck.
“Din, you’re running a fever, that's it, back to bed or I’m hiding your helmet.” you say sternly.
“Fine, can I have my helmet back first?” he mumbled under the scarf and you nodded, shutting your eyes again as he removed the scarf from his face, dropping it onto his son’s face.
You opened your eyes as soon as you heard the hiss of his helmet and Grogu squealing under the scarf. You tutted angrily at the both of them as Din hung his head.
“Stop having beef with your own child, tin can.” you scolded the overgrown child in front of you, pulling the scarf off Grogu’s head. “Go to your room, I’ll come back with some stuff for you.”
You stared into his visor as you kissed the top of Grogu’s head again. The Mandalorian sauntered off, not before mumbling something under his breath. You smiled as you caught the last bit of his sentence.
“I’m the one who is sick but he gets all the kisses.”
You shook your head and bent down to place Grogu in his bassinet before taking your groceries to the tiny kitchen.
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
Din tried to lay back and forget how his body was hurting all over. He groaned as he clutched his tummy, quickly slipping his helmet on before running out of his room. You watch worriedly as Din dashes past you and makes a beeline to the refresher.
You hear him emptying the contents of his stomach and your heart ached at the small whimper that accompanied the retching when there was nothing left for him to throw up.
“Din, sweetheart?” you called as you stood outside the refresher. “You have your helmet on?”
A small grunt of confirmation makes you throw the door open and you drop to your knees beside the Mandalorian who was now curled against the metal wall. Behind all of his pain, Din’s heart swelled with your respect towards his creed. He wanted to tell you what plagued his head and heart but all he could do was gag.
“Oh Din, maybe I should just leave, I-i don’t know what to do, I can’t help you if you don’t have your helmet off.” you say, your eyes brimming with tears.
“I don’t know what to do either.” he whispered.
You laid down on the cold floor and curled up, facing Din, taking his hand in yours, an idea sparking in your mind.
“Shall I suggest something really stupid then?” you say as Din’s mind calmed slightly at your touch.
He grunted and you took a deep breath.
“Marry me.” you whisper and through the fog of pure sickness, Din Djarin stares at you as if you were the craziest woman in the galaxy.
“What?”
“You heard me. Marry me, then I can take care of you.” you say, placing a hand on his helmet, where his cheek would be.
“You’re crazy.”
“And you’re sick.”
“Fuck.” Din had so much to argue about marrying him.
He definitely was not a match for you, no matter how much his heart yearned for you, no matter how badly he wanted all of you to be his.
“Din, I swear on my name and the names of the Ancestors, that I should walk the way of our love and the words that my heart sings shall be forever forged between us.” you say clearly, twisting the words of the creed that Din had used before dipping himself in the Living Waters. “You better agree before you throw up in that helmet, Djarin.”
Din slowly sits up and takes your hands, placing it under his helmet and letting you push it off to reveal his face. You stared in shock, not realising that he would be this pretty, despite being sick as a dog.
“Heya, husband.” you whisper as you run a finger down his nose, watching as his eyes flutter close.
Din swallows and blinks, focusing on your face. Your fingers trace his lips, the ones you’ve had on you before in frantic times when you and Din’s desperations tipped over and the both of you lost control.
“Your husband is gonna throw up all over you if you don’t move.” he croaked out and you shifted as Din bent over the bowl and retched.
You rubbed the small of his back and whispered softly to him as he coaxed his stomach to relax. It took you a while to get the dizzy Din to get up from the refresher floor and lead him to his room. You pushed him down and handed him a pill that would calm his tummy, before slowly feeding him fruit that you had cut up for him.
Din could not express anything he was feeling, and he just accepted your unrequited love that you shoved at him. His eyes were downcasted after a while and you realised that he might not be used to someone seeing his face this long.
“Just yell for me if you need anything.” you said before standing to get up, but Din yanked you down despite being the weakest you’ve ever seen him.
“C-could you stay a while?” he whispered, his thumb gently tracing your wrist.
You smiled and pushed his curls away from his forehead, making his eyes flutter close.
“Of course.” you assured with a smile.
Din twitched awkwardly and you eyed him, trying to figure out what was wrong.
“Is something hurting?”
“Nah.” he croaked out after a long pause.
“You can’t lie to me, I’m your-”
“Wife, yea got it.” he huffed and scowled, making you giggle. “My head and neck are a little uncomfortable.”
You nod knowingly.
“Can you turn over?” you ask and Din hesitated before shaking his head.
You thought his stomach was still making him uncomfortable but in reality, Din just wanted to look at your face.
You sat on the bed and crossed your legs, laying his head onto your legs. He looked up at you with big eyes, and you skimmed your knuckles across his warm skin.
You begin with his temples slowly kneading them with your fingers until a soft sigh escapes his lips.
“A little h-higher?”
“Of course, love.”
Din loved it when you called him that. He was your love, your only love, maybe second to Grogu, but he was yours. That reminded him…
“When I get better, I’ll tell you the proper vows.” he whispered, and you blink down at him before realising what he was talking about.
“Oh-”
“Yea, we’re definitely breaking the creed here, but I don’t care. I-i’ve been meaning to tell you for a long time…” he said before taking a deep breath.
“Shh, I know.” you whispered, placing a finger on his lips.
Din couldn’t help but smile. Despite knowing that you knew, he wanted to hear himself say it.
“I love you, my riduur.” he says as his eyes became heavier by the way you were gently pushing all of his pain away.
“I love you too, Din Djarin.” you whispered as he drifted off to sleep, placing a lingering kiss onto his forehead and smiling down at him.

Title: I miss you. - Bonus scene
Author: Tory / @tkwrites
Relationship: Quinn Hughes x Sarah Roberts (OFC)
Warnings: Smut, protected sex, fluffy, fluffy, fluffy.
Summary: A short continuation of I miss you. Quinn and Sarah make soft, sleepy love as they doze off for the night.
Word Count: 400
Comments: This came to me quite suddenly a few days ago, and it was so cute and sweet, I just knew I needed to post it, even though it's so short.
I miss you. - Bonus Scene
A Quinn & Sarah Snapshot
Sarah was almost asleep when Quinn rolled on top of her.
His movements were fuzzy with fatigue, but his body was insistent and he wasn’t going to give up a chance while they were together.
“Is this okay?” he whispered in her ear.
“If you wear a condom, yeah.”
He let out a little whine, but there wasn’t any real heat in it.
“I’m not getting out of bed again, so if you want it, you’ve got to be the one taking care of it.”
“Fair,” he said before slipping out of bed to find a condom in his bag.
She heard the foil ripping, and when he got back, reached down to make sure he’d put it on.
“Did you not believe me?” he asked.
“I’ve had boyfriends open and not put them on, or take them off half way through, so it’s just kind of a habit.”
Quinn pulled back, his body frozen. “They what?”
“Yep.”
He settled back into their cozy little cocoon, sheathing himself completely with a gentle roll of his hips, “I would never.”
Her fingers ran through his hair, “I know.”
Quinn tucked his face into her neck as he moved against her. They’d made this soft kind of love before. He often found himself daydreaming about it when he was over tired or couldn’t fall asleep. It was comforting and homey.
Sliding his hand down her side, he softly trailed his fingers to her bundle of nerves. He stroked in time with his thrusts - which is to say, slowly and softly, as if he were more asleep than he felt. He was tired, but this was an exercise in gentleness.
She made a quiet little noise in his ear and her head tipped back. “Quinn,” she whispered.
His heart soared, feeling for the first time that summer, he was finally, completely, able to express this kind of physical love.
One of her hands moved from his hair onto his back.
The high he pulled from her was gentle and soft to match his movements. It was more about connection than it was about pleasure. It meant more to her than any other orgasm that had come before that day.
"Quinn, I love you," she whispered.
That sent him over the edge.
He caught her mouth and kissed her as he crested.
"I love you so much."

Omg can u write a drabble about seven days to love Jungoo being sick and whiney (and attention seeker) and oc taking care of him ofc hehe 🥺🥺🤍
okokok im bringing him back since he’s such a baby. you don’t have to read SEVEN DAYS TO LOVE to understand this drabble <3
JUNGKOOK’S SICK DAY | jeon jungkook
Tumblr media
warnings: none. straight fluff. sick jk. needy jk. 1.9k words.
Your relationship with Jungkook started off rocky and you take full blame for that. You had been too stubborn to admit that he wasn’t as bad as you made him out to be and over time you let him creep his way into your heart till he was pretty much the owner of it. Of course this dwill don’t mean you made it easy for good m but it was only because you knew he secretly liked your mean streak. Your boyfriend was sweet and so unbelievably funny practically all the time that it didn’t take you long to realize when something was wrong—take the other night for instance when you unintentionally made him jealous and snapped at him for it.
Tumblr media
This morning was another one of those times when you noticed he was acting differently than usual. It was the most minuscule of things that caught your attention today but it was just strange. Typically, on mornings you didn’t spend with Jungkook at your side, he sent you a good morning text. Last night you worked late and had an early morning class today that it had just been easier to go back to your own place and not visit Jungkook since it was a farther drive from campus. You expected to wake up to one of his long and dramatic good morning texts that usually went along the lines of:
‘kook🖤: good morningggggggggg my angry little cinammon roll, idc if you hate the nickname, I love it bc I know it annoys u hehe. miss u’
It was very annoying but unbelievably endearing and you always responded with a:
‘you: pls stop calling me that, it’s so corny.
you: but morning, miss you too <3’
Today though, you woke up with nothing and when you checked his location out of curiosity if he was busy, you found him at home and ended up calling him.
“Hello?” His voice was groggy and tired which was unusual for him at this hour, it was the first sign that something was up.
“Good morning, I didn’t get my text today,” you said sitting at your vanity as you readied yourself for work. It was a little past noon and you had already gone to class and he had yet to reach out to you. That was strange considering how clingy your boyfriend usually was.
Jungkook lay in his bed, wrapped like a burrito in his blankets and phone on speaker lying on the pillow you usually used, “Sorry baby, I’m just waki—achoo!”
You paused, taken back by his overly loud sneeze and sniffle, “You okay?”
You’re not sure why you expected the big baby that Jungkook was to say yes when it was just so out of character. You should’ve known he would have responded with a whine, “No! I don’t feel good, a-and I want you to come over and make me feel better.”
“I’ve gotta get to work,” you said with a pout, “Joon would kill us both if we don’t show up. Did you call in yet?”
“I’m about to,” Jungkook said with another loud sniffle and cough that made you wince, “Please, Y/n, come over.”
“Jungkook, I can’t,” you said apologetically, “Taehyung is the only one working tonight and you’re already not going in so I can’t miss too. It wouldn’t be fair—“
“Y/n, come over!” You could practically see him kicking his feet in a childlike tantrum.
“Babe,” you released a sigh, “I’ll feel bad if I miss. I’ll come over right after, take something and sleep, okay?”
“I want you.”
“Do I look like cold medicine?” You asked, hearing him mumble a yes that made you smile in amusement, “I’ll see if we can finish early, I promise.”
Jungkook left you with a muffled goodbye and you felt bad just leaving him hanging but Namjoon was your boss and friend. He doesn’t like dating in the workplace but he’s fine with the two of you and you don’t want to take advantage of him or make him think you won’t put work first. He probably won’t like that you’ll miss work simply because of your boyfriend, so you got to work feeling awful for leaving Jungkook to fend for himself.
“So, no Jungkook today?” Taehyung asked from the stop of the stairs where his sound booth was. You shook your head no, “Don’t think he feels good.”
“Poor baby,” Taehyung pretended to wipe a tear away, “Well, thanks for coming in, I have a feeling he didn’t make it easy for you?”
“Not at all.”
kook🖤: 🤒😞
you: have you taken anything yet?
kook🖤: 😞
you: boy…
kook🖤: 🤧😞
“Y/n, tell your boyfriend to stop texting me,” Taehyung said suddenly, “He keeps crying that he wants you to go see him.”
“Oh my god,” you laughed in disbelief, “I didn’t know he was such a big baby when he’s sick.”
“The biggest,” Taehyung said with a shake of his head, “If you could stick around for at least another hour or two, I’ll let you go, but let’s just see how busy we get.”
The answer was, you didn’t get busy at all. Although you wanted to go over to Jungkook’s place right away, knowing him, he wasn’t prepared for a mile cold and you ended up going to the store to find some over-the-counter medicine and some easy foods he could eat. When you finally got to his place it was just before the sun could set and you let yourself in with the key he had given you a while back.
“Who’s there?” Jungkook shouted tiredly from his bedroom, “If it’s not Y/n it better be the Grim Reaper because I’m depressed.”
You rolled your eyes setting your bags down, “It’s Y/n!”
You heard intense rustling and banging from his bedroom until suddenly you were being confronted by Kaonashi from Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away—you mean your boyfriend, who was completely wrapped up in his black comforter with huge bags under his eyes, “Jeez babe, you’ve definitely seen better days, huh?”
Jungkook made a whining sound as he opens up his arms and the blanket before dragging you into him, wrapping you in with him and squeezing tightly, “S-so cold.”
“Did you take anything yet?” You asked, feeling your feet lift off the ground just a bit with how he held you in a hug. You felt him shake his head no and with an annoyed sigh you asked, “Jungkook! I’ve been telling you all day to take something. How are you supposed to get better?!”
“Stop yelling at me,” Jungkook sniffled as you struggled to free yourself from his hold, “I’m sick.”
You released a sigh as you lifted a hand to feel his face and neck and sure enough he felt warm, “Have you eaten?”
He shook his head no with a pout, and you took a breath, “Okay, why don’t you get in the shower and I’ll make you something real quick.”
“Come,” he begged, grabbing your arm but you shook your head.
“No, I’m going to making you something to eat, hon, go shower it’ll help with your fever,” you told him and with an annoyed whine he left.
“So dramatic,” you whispered to yourself watching him shimmy his way back to his room still wrapped in his blanket and you smiled at how cute he was.
You didn’t start cooking until you heard the shower running and you hurried to make him a simple soup that he better like because you're not a cook at all. He’s making you have to learn because he’s such a big baby who forgot to feed himself.
Not even five minutes later was he back out, shuffling his way back to you and hugging you from behind. “That was not a shower, Kook. It wasn’t even five minutes.”
“It was a rinse,” Jungkook confessed, following you around the small space of his kitchen. You just sighed, “Okay, get in bed, it’s almost ready.”
He whined making you look at him with a scoff, “I didn’t know you were so bratty when you’re sick, you big himbo! I already left work early, I’m not leaving, I’m gonna take care of you so just go to bed and I’ll be there soon.”
Jungkook grumbled under his breath as he retreated, “Always so mean to me.”
When you got back to Jungkook’s room holding a tray with his food you found him face down on his bed, spread like a star fish pretending to cry, “Y/n doesn’t love me.”
“Oh my god,” you laughed as you entered his dark abyss, “You’re lucky you’re cute because I’ve never met someone this dramatic in my life.”
Jungkook smiled, rolling onto his back, eyes red and puffy, nose red and puffy, lips red and puffy, “You’re back. Come in bed and let’s watch a movie.”
“First, take your medicine,” you ordered as he took his remote control off the nightstand and began searching through Disney movies.
“Princess and the Frog or Tangled?”
“Jungkook,” you warned him as he talked to himself.
“Princess and the Frog, I completely agree,” he mumbled to himself, “You’re like Tiana, personality wise and I’m like Naveen.”
“You’re more like Louis,” you told him as you handed him the medicine and a glass of water.
“Did you just call me an alligator?” He asked with furrowed brows as he attempted to glare at you but he couldn’t.
“Big scary baby just like you.”
“So mean to me,” he mumbled as he looked down at the bowl of soup before letting his jaw drop.
Your brows furrowed, “What’s wrong?”
“Aren’t you going to feed me?” Jungkook asked cutely. As much as you wanted to smack him, he was sick and you owe it to him to be here. You want him to see you care about him just as much as he cares about you and if that means spoon feeding him to make him happy, you’ll do it.
“I didn’t know having a fever meant you can’t use your hands,” you teased as you blew softly on the hot soup before bringing it toward his mouth, “And you better eat all this because I hate cooking.”
“Yes ma’am,” he joked as he took the spoon finally and began shoving it all into his mouth, “So good, I should snap a picture and post this on Twitter—I mean, ‘X’, and tag Gordon Ramsey.”
“Shut up,” you laughed.
Once he was done, he threw himself back with a burp, “Wow I feel so much better.”
“I’m sure you do.”
“I do,” Jungkook nodded his head, “Guess I was away from you too long and my body couldn’t take it.”
“Oh my god,” you groaned, “So dramatic.”
He laughed, “Kiss?”
“No, you're still sick, I could hear it in your voice,” you told him and he pretended to glare at you. “Y/n. Kiss. Now.”
“No—Jungkook!”
He tackled you onto the bed, putting his entire weight on you and trapping you beneath him, “Kiss.”
With a tired groan you nodded, arms wrapping around his neck and pulling him down until your lips met. Jungkook smiled into the kiss, making himself more comfortable between your legs, not wanting to pull away even when you gently pushed at his chest. “Okay, Kook, there, you already can’t breathe well with your runny nose, let’s not push it.”
“Mm,” he groaned, “Baby, I’m sick, you can’t keep pushing me away.”
“How can I push you away when you’ve got me trapped under you?” You asked, tilting your head cutely that he smiled, squirming a bit over you.
“Right, I forgot.”
You spent two days dealing with your sick boyfriend who was the neediest baby you’ve ever met in your entire life, but you’d do it all over again.

"We need more snacks and booze for tonight's movie night." Mindy said as she dropped down onto the couch next to Anika, one arm swiftly wrapping around Anika's neck while the hand was preoccupied with a beer.
"More?" Sam questioned as walked into the living room with a glass of water, taking a seat next to Tara.
Mindy dumbly nodded as she rolled her eyes. "Yes, Carpenter, more. We've got four beers left and only a singular bag of doritos. There's eight of us here and that just isn't enough."
You nodded your head in agreement with Mindy, she did have a solid point. Especially with Chad and Ethan here, they'd devour the chips before anyone else could have any.
"Fine, but i'm not going to the store for you all again." Sam grumbled sipping on her ice cold water. The rest of the group quickly went to give their bullshit reasons to why they can't go.
"I went last time." Was Chad's excuse which you can deem as valid.
"My legs are sore after last night so I don't really want to be walking around." Quinn said which got a mix response from the group. Ethan, Tara, Sam, Mindy yelling TMI while you, Chad and Anika congratulated her.
"This is my apartment so I don't have to go." The younger Carpenter sister argued to which you found that excuse half bullshit half fair.
"I get to choose the movie tonight and I want to make sure it's something everyone likes." Ethan attempts which you find bullshit, but don't say anything.
Mindy and Anika piped up next with their excuses. "I pointed it out so I don't have to go, meaning Anika doesn't have to go either." That was even more of a bullshit excuse than Ethan's.
You were the last one to give an excuse as all eyes in the room fell on you. You groaned dramatically as you slapped your hands on your knees, standing up slowly. "Alright, fine I'll go. Someone message me with a list of demands."
Chad cheered at that and gave you a thumbs up at taking one for the team. "Thank you, Y/n." Anika said in a sing song voice as she smiled sweetly at you.
"Yeah, yeah." You said as you walked over to grab your coat from the hanger. Throwing the coat on you turned to look at the group. "Someone better text me the list before I arrive."
The group said something along the lines of 'yeah sure' before they turned to look back at the TV.
Double checking you had your phone and wallet you went to leave but a voice stopped you from leaving.
"I'm coming with you." Sam told you as she walked up to you, you grinned as you looked at the tall woman. "I thought you didn't want to go?" You teased in a playful manner as Sam went to grab her own bomber jacket off the rack.
"Yeah well I'm not going to let you go out alone in the night." She replied as she leaned closer to you, you stared into her eyes slightly confused as your heartbeat picked up at the closeness.
Sam's hand stretched out to reach something behind you as she kept eye contact with you. You could smell the cigarette smell of her breath hitting your face at close proximity.
Just as Sam leaned forward her hand twisted at the door and unlocked it, taking a step back as she cocked her head to the side.
You blushed from embarrassment as you heavily misread the situation and stepped aside for Sam to open the door.
She swung the door open and stepped outside, you quickly followed her lead closing the door behind you.
Sam nodded at you before she began walking towards the stairs, you followed behind her in silence.
You and Sam had been having this weird situationship for the last few weeks, none of you were brave enough to actually make the next step.
Longing stares from opposite ends of the room, long nights spent together just talking about everything and eventually falling asleep, picking up on each other's habit, and of course having sex whenever you two were alone.
And especially for you when you ended up blushing like a fool whenever someone would comment on it. Cough cough Mindy
Before the whole situationship started you had been crushing on Sam, hard, for a few months. Her rare smile that managed to take your breath away, or that even rarer laugh she'd let out that simply made your heart skip a few beats.
Basically, you were down bad for this woman. Your only worry was that Sam wasn't that interested in you as you were with her.
You were the first one to even make it a situationship when you and Tara came home from a party and Sam was not pleased that you two had snuck out.
In fact she was raging.
You weren't even drunk but Tara was hammered and immediately collapsed in her bed before Sam could lecture her, meaning you were left to hear Sam's lecture.
While Sam ranted and listed off a myriad of reasons why it was stupid you finally got enough and silenced her with a kiss. Then not long after that kiss it led to you two falling on her bed and having the best sex of your life.
"What store do you want to go to?" Sam's voice snapped you out of your thoughts as you glanced at her, slightly surprised you two were sitting in her car.
Jesus you didn't even notice you had reached the car.
"Target?" You suggested while you fastened your seat belt. Sam nodded mutely as she turned the car on, shifting her gear into first as she began to leave the apartment complex car park.
After a few seconds of driving Sam's phone automatically connected to the car and her music began to play loudly throughout.
'You Give Love A Bad Name' by Bon Jovi started playing, you smiled at the familiar tunes, tapping your fingers against your thigh mimicking the beats being played.
"Where were you last night?" Sam asked as her hand went to lower the music. You turned to look at her, giving her a knowing look.
The group had another hangout session the previous night, Trivia Thursday, it happened once a month since movie nights happened on a weekly basis on Fridays.
You didn't come that night since you were hanging out with your new friend Carmilla. She had a dark sense of humour that you could appreciate.
All the two of you did was make a cheesecake and watch a few Criminal Mind episodes. Nothing more.
The clenched jaw on Sam's face and her almost non blinking eyes told you that Sam definitely thought you did more than that.
"I was with a friend." You stated nonchalantly as you gave her an innocent smile. "Why did you miss me?"
Sam rolled her eyes as her grip on the steering wheel tightened. "Don't be obtuse, I was just curious." She grumbled in a hushed voice as her eyes focused on the road.
"Oh, well if you were just curious." You replied as you turned your head away from her direction to look through the side window.
In your head you slowly counted down from ten, knowing Sam would want to be more curious.
As you reached zero you heard Sam shuffle in her seat. "Who was your friend?" She asked with jealousy, lacing her words.
You take out your phone to see if anybody had sent you a list of requests as you replied to Sam.
"Just a new friend I met at a coffee shop." Sam hummed as her eyes flickered over to your phone and saw your fingers tapping away on the screen.
"Just a new friend, how lovely. Is that who you're texting right now?"
You chuckled as you shook your head, still shocked by this jealousy from Sam. "I'm replying to Mindy's text with what they want."
"Oh."
Yeah, oh.
"They want two packs of six cans, twizzlers, chips and salsa, a tub of honeycomb ice cream, skittles and chocolate." You listed as you reread the text message.
Sam grunted which you took as an 'okay'. The two of you didn't say anything else for the car ride to the store, the only sort of noise coming from the car was Sam's music.
Around ten minutes passed before the two of you arrived, Sam silently getting out of the car as she slammed the car door shut.
You followed suit but didn't slam the car door as harshly as she did. Sam was waiting for you at the front of the car, locking the car with a click of a button the moment you closed your door.
Sam walked by your side towards the entrance of the store, grabbing a basket from the entrance.
"You're quiet tonight." You mentioned as you and her began slowly ticking off the items needed.
Sam glanced at you as she threw two bags of twizzlers into the basket. "Guess I'm just not in the mood." She murmured as she glanced around for the chocolate that Chad definitely asked for.
"Not in the mood of having to go to the store, or with me, or just life?" You asked as you reached out for the chocolate bar at the same time as hers, your pinkies brushing over each other.
You gazed over at Sam who didn't take her hand away and kept it on top of the chocolate bar. Her eyes were focused on yours.
You swallowed nervously as you slowly pulled your hand away, slightly gliding up Sam's forearm before dropping your hand completely.
Sam froze for a second before she shook her head and snatched the bar from the shelf and threw it into the basket.
"A bit of the first and third one, but definitely not the second one." Sam said as she turned to look at you, her face was void of any smile but her eyes told you enough.
Those dark eyes that you could stare into forever and never lose interest.
You smiled softly at her, your eyes lingered on hers for a second before they moved down to her lips.
"That's everything." Sam abruptly said forcing you to look back at her rather than her lips.
You nodded slightly embarrassed as the tip of your ears burned with blush. "Beers, chocolate, twizzlers, chips and salsa and skittles." You listed as you peered into the basket Sam was holding.
Sam cocked her head towards the self checkout to which you began walking there without hesitation, Sam right beside you.
Since it was quite late and a Friday night meaning most people were out drinking, there were only two other people at the self checkout till. An old woman and a lanky boy who was only buying a monster and vape.
Sam and you opted to the closest till and began scanning your items away. Before you reached the final two items left your eyes widened with realisation.
"Shit, we forgot Ethan's honeycomb ice cream." You say as you look at Sam who stopped herself from scanning the skittles. She sighed as she scanned it anyway.
"Are you okay with running to get it quickly?" She asks as her tired eyes flicker over your face, her eyes staring longest at your lips.
You nodded your head like a manic before briskly walking out and heading towards the frozen section at the store, the further part of the store.
Picking up your pace you quickly made it there within thirty seconds, there was only one other person in the aisle, a man who looked to be around in his thirties.
You didn't pay much attention to him and swiftly walked over to the ice cream section. You quickly found the tub of honeycomb ice cream and grinned as you pulled it out.
"What's a pretty girl like you doing all alone in a store at eleven in the night?" A raspy voice said from behind you. You grimaced at the voice, it wasn't raspy like Sam's in the morning. No, this was just off putting.
You turned around as you closed the freezer door to the ice cream section, backing up against it from how close this man was to you.
You glanced down the aisle in the hopes of seeing Sam randomly there but there was no sign.
"Just buying ice cream for my girlfriend." You lied as you took a step to the side as the man's eyes narrowed on your chest.
He hummed creepily as he licked his dry lips, his dark eyes slowly looking back up to yours.
"A girlfriend huh? Why would someone as hot as you decide to be with a girl rather than a man. I bet you just haven't had the right dick in you yet." He perved as he stepped closer to you which resulted in you taking more steps back.
"Sorry mister but my girlfriend is waiting for me so I really got to go." You told him as you gave him a smile in hopes he'd leave you alone.
Big mistake.
"Fine, fuck you fucking worthless piece of shit dyke." He snarled as he took heavy steps in following you. "Fucking fags like you should burn."
You didn't turn around as you ran out of the isle, as you turned the corner you collided into someone.
"Y/n, what's wrong?" Sam asked as she grabbed at your shoulders to calm you down. "Sam." You whispered as you noticed who it was, without thinking you dropped the tub of ice cream and threw your arms around her waist as you pulled her closer.
"What happened?" Asked Sam as she hugged you back, her stiff shoulders relaxed at the contact.
"Some sick perv was hitting on me and when I told him I had to leave he started calling me slurs."
Sam didn't say anything for a moment as you felt her entire body stiffen at your words. Her arms slowly dropped as she took a step back.
"Who?" She demanded in such a dark voice that if you didn't see Sam say it you wouldn't believe it came from her mouth.
You shook your head as you tried smiling at Sam in hopes of calming her down. "Just some creep, but I'm here with you now and safe."
Sam ignored you as she stepped around you and walked into the frozen isle, her eyes landing on the same man who was harassing you earlier at the very top of the isle.
"Sam!" You whisper yelled as you chased after her as she began storming towards the man. She ignored your words as she came closer to the man.
He heard the heavy footsteps coming from Sam and turned to look at her, his creepy smirk appearing once more before it quickly disappeared when Sam punched him in the face.
"Who the fuck do you think you are?" Sam snapped as she glared at the man who flew to the floor from the harsh contact.
"The fuck lady?!" He screeched like a baby as she clutched his bleeding noise. Sam's eyes narrowed on his head before she swiftly kicked at his jaw.
He yelled out in pain as Sam slammed her boot into his chest, pinning him down. "You think hitting on a woman who clearly don't want you is funny?" She sneered as the man stayed under her boot, whining.
You were frozen as you stared at the unfolding scene in front of your eyes.
Sam pressed her boot further into his chest at his silence. "Is it? Or is the homophobia what's so fucking funny for you?" She spat out in a venomous voice as the man looked up at her.
"I think when a whore throws herself at you and then rejects your advances is only getting what she deserves." He bellowed as that revolting smirk appeared on his bloodied lips.
Sam didn't hesitate as she took her foot off his chest and slammed it down on his fingers, a sickening crack being heard.
She kneeled down at the crying man with a look of pure fury on her face. "If I ever see you out in public again, I will rip you open and put your insides on the outside. Showing to the world you're just as vile as you are inside as out." She whispered into ear before she turned to punch him once again.
You finally snapped out of your daze as Sam began to punch him again, rushing over to pull her off the man.
"Sam, Sam, just stop!" You pleaded as you tugged at her shoulders. She turned to look at you and the venous look in her eyes got replaced with a soft glance she only gave to you.
"You've gotten your revenge now, please let's go." You begged her as you moved your hand toward her wrist, tugging at her.
She turned to look at the crying man who was clutching his nose before she stiffly stood up.
You smiled appreciatively at Sam before pulling her away faster. Sam wrapped an arm protectively around you as the two of you walked out of the isle.
Sam picked up the melting ice cream off the floor as the two of you made your way back to the till.
As you finished paying and scanning everything Sam went to talk with a worker and told them about the man.
The two of you didn't want to stay any longer in the store and made your exit, walking much faster to Sam's car.
The second you two were inside Sam locked the car as she sat there in silence. You looked over at Sam who was staring at her bloodied and already bruising fists.
You frowned as you instinctively went to grab one of Sam's hands, she didn't say anything as you pulled her knuckles to your lips, softly kissing it.
You lowered your hand after a few moments as you traced circles on the girl's fist softly.
"You didn't have to do that Sam. If the media finds out they'll have your head." You whispered, Sam shook her head in disagreement.
"I most definitely had to do that." She replied as you kept on caressing her hand.
"But the media-"
"I don't give a shit what people think about me, Y/n. What I do give a massive shit about is you and your safety." She declared as her eyes moved from your fingers on her fist to your eyes.
You swallowed as you breathed slowly. "Sam." You croaked as your head dropped, your eyes focused on her bruised knuckles.
You did this. You hurt Sam.
"It's not your fault, Y/n. The only person who is at fault is that scum." Sam said as if she could read your thoughts. You looked back at Sam who had a small smile on her lips.
"I'll always be here to keep you safe." Sam whispered, pulling her hand away from yours to gently place on your jaw.
You're heart began drumming in your chest as Sam's eyes glanced down to your lips before back to your eyes.
"I love you." You whispered without thinking as your eyes connected with hers. Sam swallowed as she leaned closer to you.
"I love you too." Sam whispered back. That was all you needed to hear before you lunged forwards, capturing her lips with yours.
The kiss was different compared to all of your previous kisses. Those were filled with lust, hunger and desperation. Those kisses were rushed and aggressive.
This one was nothing like that. This one was full of love as you kissed Sam slowly, sighing against her lips as you shut your eyes feeling content.

So, now that the DLC is out, I was wondering if I could request a part two to the pokepasta trainer reader? Like them and their team meeting Carmine, Kieran, and Perrin?
Oooo yeah!! I'm guessing you meant this post (being part 1). I'm honestly impressed by the notes ghshghsh but I'm glad ya'll love the pokepasta!reader <333
Gonna format these as hcs if that's okay
.........
Carmine
She's seen tourists bring in weird Pokémon, but you brought the scariest ones she's ever seen in her life.
She sends out her Poochyena to do battle, thinking she can intimidate you....and she SCREAMS when your Freakachu comes out to play.
It's loud enough for all to hear and for the caretaker to arrive and prematurely end the fight.
Well, at least she finally got off your back before things could get too heated.
Kieran was shocked though bc his sister was usually so brave.
During your time in Kitakami, she's just going to,,,,stare at your Pokémon team, especially when you introduce her to Purin and Disabled (she definitely thinks they're some weird gray regional variants and nothing more)
She's extremely confused as to why you named your Wigglytuff after a status move.
And Missingno.....is something she can't even begin to wrap her brain around, but she buys the story of it being from a really old Kantonian myth. That's something she can 100% believe.
After meeting Ogerpon and learning she's been misunderstood all along, Carmine slowly realizes she may have treated your Pokémon the same way.
They've been through some horrible things, and she was quick to judge them, so she apologizes for that.
Although Freakachu's smiles still creep her out..she's friendlier towards Purin and Disabled (not that she'll ever admit this, ofc).
Kieran
Like Carmine, he's gonna be pretty spooked by how your Pokémon team looks, at first.
But considering he never thought the Ogre was scary. he's nowhere near as judgmental.
During your walks together and at dinner, you explained where your 'mons came from--or at least the short and least terrifying versions of those tales so you didn't freak him out too much..
He's just fascinated that you've gone out of your way to help them despite their reputations as "monsters".
He hopes to one day have a strong bond like that with his team, or Ogerpon.
Tbh he found it really sweet when you purchased a Pikachu mask for Freakachu to wear so he could visit the festival of masks without scaring anybody.
Missingno was, understandably, the most bizarre Pokémon Kieran has ever seen, but once you explained how it's an old Kantonian myth...he's like "wowzers..that's so cool!!"
He genuinely believes you and him have a lot in common: being outcasts and adoring Pokémon most people were afraid of.
So it's even more heartbreaking for him when Ogerpon ultimately chooses to go with you instead of him.
Despite your team being utterly terrifying, she felt more comfortable being by their side...and it doesn't make sense to him at all.
It just doesn't seem fair.
He envies how your Missingno can pretty much give you whatever items you wanted--and an infinite number of them, too.
You warned him that it's not something you messed around with (plus, it corrupted an old friend of yours long ago), but he didn't care about any of that.
He wanted to know how to harness that power.
Maybe when he becomes even stronger, he'll challenge you again...
And the winner got to keep Missingno.
Perrin
She thought the Bloodmoon Beast was a terrifying and ominous force to be reckoned with, especially in the photograph she obtained.
But what you had on your team was nothing short of both amazing...and downright horrifying.
She assumes Freakachu, Purin, and Disabled are some Pikachu, Jigglypuff, and Wigglytuff variants she's never heard about or have gone extinct.
Maybe like Bloodmoon Ursaluna, they were from a distant land or some time period.
So she keeps an open mind and convinces them to do some cool poses (despite her Hisuian Growlithe always hiding behind her, tail tucked between its legs, and being certain that Purin's stare is gonna haunt her dreams now).
The only one she's heard of before was Missingno, having once believed it to be a myth from Kanto...and now she can see that it's real! And it's in your possession!
She wants a photo of it. Not for any sort of recognition or accolade, but as proof in the books that it's legit.
Unfortunately, while she can see it glitching, changing forms, spawning items for you, etc. right before her very eyes...it never shows up on camera.
Every photo she attempts to take gets corrupted or lost in the developing process.
You politely have to ask Perrin to stop before she breaks her camera.
She is, however, free to photograph your other Pokémon as they are in their natural state (aka acting like their normal counterparts and not creatures that really should've been dead long ago).

snow burning. pt 2 | simon riley
After a disastrous mission that goes awry, Simon Riley and Lyla come to the agreement of sleeping in each other's beds to ward off the horrors. They are the horrors.
Tumblr media
Pairing: Simon "Ghost" Riley x OFC
pt. 1
-;
Her eyes were covered by a thick, silk ribbon.
Where Simon Riley had acquired such an item was beyond her, but she tried not to let herself think about the acquisition too much. There were more pressing matters at present, matters which required the full use of her mind and her hands. Simon Riley’s face was between them, her hands, to be clear. Smooth skin, a freshly shaven face. She could feel from the rummaging and the adventuring of her fingertips that he had shaved the sides of his head, as well. A small patch of hair sat atop his head, longer than the rest, but still short enough to maintain– did he go to the store and buy the ribbon himself?
His body was slit between her legs, which pulled him in as close to her body as he would allow her to. His entire weight tried to crush her, but she was often used to heavy things on her, whether it was due to the tactical gear, being buried in God knows what during their missions, or even the small fact that this was a situation Simon Riley often preferred to have himself in these last few days– did he request it in the quarterly inventory restock?
On top of her, she could hear the gurgling of the man’s stomach. He had skipped meals today. Maybe he had been skipping meals all week. Her hand tightened in the short locks of his hair, and she reminisced of the moments hours before the two of them had found each other in his bed again, for however-many days it had been since they began.
He had been sparring with John Mactavish. Always John Mactavish, poor, wee old, John Mactavish caught between the fraying edges of Simon Riley’s slipping mind and Lyla’s hard gaze. That very gaze which watched the two men now, their arms grappled one another, thighs strained, feet dug into the earth like it was their birthright. There were precious few times where John wasn’t fighting his teammates, within the confines of comradery, of course. More so were the times that existed where John offered himself to be Simon’s punching bag. The Scot could take a hit, she had to give him that. More so, he could take a hit from Simon. And that, if nothing else, deserved respect.
She tried to remember the time when he had taken it upon himself to challenge the goliath from KorTac, but every time her mind tried to bring forth those images, her eyes shut and she pushed them away. To give John credit, he lasted a fair few minutes given the absolute size of the man. John was fast enough to evade for some time, but not fast enough.
A grunt from Simon caught her attention back to them then, her eyes widening as she noticed John had drawn first blood, signalling the end of their sparring. But Simon was angry. And Simon was fraying. And John Mactavish, the gorgeous little shit, with that proud smile on his face and his chest puffed in momentary, stolen glory, knew it too. He was on his back before he knew it, a puff of air escaping his body to refrain from feeling the pure force of Ghost. One fist landed on his cheek, then two, it was four in and a mouth full of blood from Soap’s end before the rest of the team finally jumped in. Captain John Price didn’t move, he rarely moved, but blessed Sergeant Kyle Garrick was there to save the day.
Lyla hadn’t said anything to either of them that day, not like she normally would have. There was a small voice in the back of her mind that told her saying anything would only fuel the dwindling flame. The small, minute dwindling of the flame. So she got up, and she locked eyes with her captain as she walked passed. And maybe if she spoke “John Price” she would have been able to read him as clearly as she could read everyone else. Maybe if she could read John Price she would have taken note of the warning in his eyes, of the injunction he seemed to be trying to impose on her. But Lyla was a stubborn girl, and she looked away. Because no one was going to tell her what to do– rather, no one was going to tell her to stay away from Simon Riley.
Which led her here, to his bed. Beneath his sheets. Beneath him.
“Do you think we would have liked each other if we were civies?”
There wasn’t a single pause between her question and his answer. “Can’t say.”
“Is that your nice way of saying no?”
“It’s my nice way of saying I don’t know what I’d be if I wasn’t this.” His answer was heartbreak, as was the stuff Simon Riley was made of.
The ribbon struggled against her eyes as she adjusted her head on the pillow, and she raised her hand to pull it tighter, further down onto her nose. “Is it coming loose?”
There was a panic in his voice, if she had ever heard a panic sounding Simon. Maybe if she had more energy she would have teased him for it, maybe, if she had more energy, she would have just ripped the damn thing off from her face and stared at him, straight into his eyes, make him face her like a man.
But she wasn’t so keen on another slap to the face-yet to be determined-at the very least she didn’t want to ruin their otherwise peaceful night. It had been a while since they had had a peaceful night.
“Worried I’ll see your ugly mug, Riley?”
“Worried you’ll fall in love with me, sweetheart.”
And so what if her heart skipped a beat. “Too late.” She sighed out, pressing his face further into her chest.
She could feel his entire body tense, and she had to sink in her cheeks and bite them as she tried to refrain from smiling. He was such… an easy man to make uncomfortable.
“Don’t say shit like that.”
“No?” Now, maybe, she was gaining the energy to tease. “What shouldn’t I say, hm?”
He pressed hard into her sides, and her entire body lurched up in shock at the sudden feeling of electricity shooting through her.
Now, this was why Simon Riley wasn’t a smart man.
Because when you had a gorgeously divine woman beneath you, barely dressed in anything at all, with her legs and thighs wrapped so tightly around you that you feared there would be an indent in your own waist later on– don’t make her lurch up.
More specifically– don’t make her lurch up into you.
“Fuck–” he gasped, because obviously. And his hands on pure, primal instinct, whether from an inherent understanding or, perhaps and more possibly, trauma, came to push her down and away from him by her hips. He lifted himself as much as he could on weak knees, his own core still throbbing at the sudden feeling of her heat pressed so tightly, so warmly, so fixed onto him.
“That was your fault,” she breathed out. Equally, obviously, flustered at having had felt him. “Simon–”
“I know, shut up.”
“You have to–”
“I. Know.” He gritted out. “Shut up. I’m concentrating.”
And this was why they were both idiots.
Because while both of them had very clearly admitted their attraction to one another, at the very least on the most primary physical level, they still deemed it the best idea in the universe to sleep together in the same bed, curled up against each other. For healing. Of course. To ward off the demons. Obviously. Except it seemed that tonight in particular, the demons seemed to be their very own selves.
Because Simon Riley was still hard, and he was still on top of her. And her legs were still, however loosely, wrapped around his hips.
“Do you want me to move?” Her stupid suggestion broke the air around him.
He grunted, because he was an idiot, and replied. “No, just…”
“Do you want me to list off really, really turn-off things?”
“For the love of God, Lyla, stop talking.”
“Stop talking?” She was offended, because with the silk blind fold on she couldn’t see the way he was looking at her. Because from her viewpoint she couldn’t see that her hair spread out around her like a crown, that one of the straps of her tank top had fallen off her shoulder, that her collarbone was on full display for him, that the baby-pink silk ribbon around her eyes and her open mouth did absolute fuck-all to deter his lower half. She didn’t stop talking because she didn’t know what her voice did to him, and he didn’t move because he didn’t want whatever it was about her to stop doing things to him. Because they were, as we’ve ascertained, both idiots.
“Simon Riley, I really don’t know who exactly you think–”
“Lyla, stop talking before I fucking stuff that ribbon into your mouth.”
Noted.
Sure.
That was a completely moderate thing to have said. To be fair, the man was fighting demons. And to be fair, she didn’t know what was happening at all to him. And in a completely idiotic show of weakness, once the woman beneath him had shut her mouth and the voices in his head became louder, Simon Riley made the outrageous decision to slowly, gently, painstakingly lower his hips onto her again, juuuust where he had touched her before.
“Can I…” but there was no question to finish it off. “Just… just a little bit…” and his actions barely constituted a request. And yet, for some reason, her body answered in full. Her legs wrapped around his thighs then, not higher, not lower. Lightly, just enough to let him know she was there, she was accepting, she was willing. Not more than that, to not scare him off.
Because yeah, maybe the reason for their problems was the fact that Simon hadn’t fucked her yet. And–
Lyla tried to contain the gasp her throat let out, but when Simon, oh the man that he was, grinded his hips just so lightly into her that she could barely feel the outline of him, maybe even the devil could have forgiven her for the sounds she made. Because he was gentle, because he was kind, because he was doing it like it was the last thing in the world he deserved. Her hand raised to take hold of his hair, to bring him closer to her so that she could kiss him.
And his hips circled, pressing deeper into her clothed core as his bare stomach met her clothed one. When he pushed back this time, she thought he was going to grind into her again, and her stomach tightened in preparation for the feeling.
But he moved back, and he moved even further back, and in the next moment she was left alone and cold. Shuffling sounded for a moment, and her vision came back. And Simon was putting the baby pink ribbon on the side of the bed stand and putting his mask back on in the same movement. And the last thing she saw that night was the view of his large, naked back, littered with scars and moles and everything else humans had that gave credit to a life’s existence, before the lights went out.

Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
The sound of your shoes hitting the ground is muffled by the harsh rain. Your pace isn’t slow, but you can’t find the strength to run. The rain doesn’t bother you. It hides the constant flow of tears going down your face.
You know you shouldn’t feel like this. You know it’s stupid. You know he thinks you’re stupid for acting like this. Yet every bone in your body aches with sadness. Because it’s not fair. It’s not right. You were standing right there and it still happened again.
You look across the table at your wonderful hunting partner and boyfriend. You see he begins to doze off again.
“Sorry babe am I boring you?” You give him a cheeky smile. Xavier jolts awake and gives a tired smile.
“It’s not you. I was up late for a job and hadn’t had much sleep. Not to mention rain always makes me sleepy.” He gives a big yawn and rubs his eyes. He picks you hand up and gives it a soft kiss. You feel you face start to heat up.
“Just know, you could never bore me. I sleep easier at your side not because you’re boring but because yours soothing. And I-” He’s interrupted by the waitress coming over with a drink in her hand, menus in the other.
“Hi sorry for the wait, this drink was sent by the lady at the bar over there, in the green. And what can I get you started with today.” You can tell she’s nervous when putting the drink down especially when she sees you hand slink back to your side of the table.
Xavier has an unreadable expression. His eyes locked on the cup then on you. Then he looks over to the bar with his eyebrows furrowed. You turn over slowly fearing the worse.
And your fears come true, she’s gorgeous… From her hair to her heels she’s perfect. Poised and graceful. You can tell by just the way she laughs with the bartender that she’s outgoing. Her body was everything you wish yours was. Ofc she took interest in Xavier they would be perfect together…
“Babe… Babe.” Xavier speaks firmly snapping you back to reality. He gives a concerned look. “Are you ok? It’s your turn to order.” He fiddles with his fingers nervously wondering what is going on in your head.
“Uh- Sorry the game was on the tv over there . Heh, got distracted.” You manage to play it off and order normally. You’re able to push away the thoughts for a second. As the waitress walks away you turn to you hunter boyfriend.
“Are… you going to drink that? Yk, the… gift.” It’s your turn to fiddle as you stare at him with pursed lips.
“Uhm I wasn’t planning on it. Yk I’m not much of a drinker outside of our home.” He gives you a questioning look.
“But… I don’t know what to do with it… I don’t want to be rude…” He really seems deep in thought about it.
You give a small sigh of relief, that immediately gets sucked back in with a gasp and the green dressed lady stands in front of your table.
“Hello cutie… and girl…” she gives you a side eye “I see you’ve got my gift! Why don’t you come to the bar and drink it with me. We don’t want it to go to waste, plus I’m sure sucks in the mud like your friend here don’t party well.” She completely ignores you for him. Giving you snide snarky remarks. You hear giggles at the bar and see similar dressed women in different colors looking over at your boyfriend.
“We’re actually dating.” He says bluntly.
“I’m sure she won’t mind if you have fun. What kind of girlfriend would she be?” She tilts her head and the strap of her dress falls down her shoulder.
You feel your breath picking up, your jaw begins to hurt from holding your tears back. Your hands shake and tremble with every thought.
This is the part he leaves you.
It gonna happen eventually why not now.
He’s too good for you. They are perfect together.
How could you actually believe he would love you when people like her exist.
You stand up and bolt for the door. Xavier’s calls fall deaf on your ears. Only the bell of the restaurant’s door is heard as you speed to the nearest train station. Which is where you are now. At least you’re out of the rain in the underground station. You can feel the pneumonia seeping into your bones. That feeling is none compared to the heart ache you feel. He hadn’t even chased after you. He probably is with her right now.
You rub your shoulders to shake off the cold. Then you feel a warmth cloth being set on your shoulders. You look at see ash blond hair and blue nebula eyes staring at you.
“I was looking all over for you… I didn’t see where you went cause our food came and I knew you would be hungry so I asked for to-go plates.” You look and see the bag in his hands. You turn back to face the train and stare ahead. Your eyes sore and dry from all the tears ripped from your tear ducts.
“Did you think she was pretty… Of course you did… how couldn’t you. I mean look at her, not a strand of hair out of place. I wish I had her body…” You brush your hair out of your face as it sticks to you. You’re soaked and couldn’t care less about the fact you look like a drowned rat.
“She was perfect, you would be nice together-“ you speech is ended by his lips crashing into yours. Normally is kisses are chaste and soft, conveying is endless patience and care for you. But this kiss of full of unconditional love and all the words of assurance you could ever get. He’s not the best with words he knows that. But today he’s willing to try.
“Fuck her. Not literally like I wanna fuck her. I- hhh I mean to hell with her. I don’t want to spend my entire existence with some girl who throws herself at every attractive man she sees.” His motions to towards the restaurant. You can see he’s struggling with how to convey how he feels. He collects his thoughts and speaks again.
“I don’t want to be with someone who only looks at me from the outside. I want you.” He cups your face.”
“I only want you. Out of all the stars in the sky you shine the brightest. Because you’re my star. My only star. The perfect laugh, the perfect body, the perfect personality, the perfect smile, the perfect heart. You are my one and only perfect star.” He gives you the most passionate kiss he can muster. Hoping you reciprocate it.
When you do he relaxes in the kiss. You begin to sob into his chest with you pull away. Apologizing for ruining the night. Him insisting that it wasn’t you how ruined the night.
“How about we go home, I’d much rather be there than some restaurant and bar. Plus I’m tired of people hitting on us.” You give him a questioning look.
“Oh when you left the bar. Some guy asked if you were single now and I punched him in the throat… which is also why I took so long and we’re- I’m not allowed back at the restaurant.” He gives you an awkward smile.
You begin to bend over laughing at the absurdity of the situation. “You’re not the type to punch someone!”
“He was just unlucky, I wanted to punch something and he spoke last. Honestly he had it coming.” You laugh harder and in your laughter you miss the way he gives you a soft smile.
How could you not know he’s beyond whipped for you. He would transcend space and time just to be with you in the next life… like he has before.
He’ll do it again.
——————————————————————————————————————————————————————
It’s 4:30 am as I’m finishing this. What did I say about bias wrecker?! HELLO SIR GET OUT MY HEAD!
Guys understand something though you are not your body, or looks. You are a person with feeling and emotions and every feeling you experience is valid and someone has felt something similar to. And I love you for who you are and what you could be. Not what you were and what you aren’t 🫶

“It was a seven.” The words fell from his lips that would predestine this night. On the chilly night of November 6th, 1983, the small group of friends had gotten together to play their weekly game of DnD that was cut long short for being on a school night. Two of the boys had rode off on their bikes, away from the host’s house as the young brunette told his friend the truth.
The boy of the house, Mike Wheeler, turned his head, confusion on his face. “Huh?”
“The roll, it was a seven.” The brunette, Will Byers, replies, a frown on his face. “The Demogorgon, it got me.” He kicks the stand off and starts riding. “See you tomorrow.”
As his words lingered in the air, the garage lights flickered on and off that was forgotten with a shrug.
Young Will catches up quickly with the other boys, Lucas Sinclair and Dustin Henderson. The wind in their eyes and smiles on their faces, they continued to ride for many blocks, slowly coming unwind.
“Good night, ladies.” Lucas teased as he broke from the group for his driveway.
“Kiss your mom ‘night for me.” Dustin quips back, before facing the other boy. “Race you back to my place? Winner gets whatever my sister brings home this time.”
Will’s eyes light up from that. “Really?”
“Yeah.” Dustin says, not expecting for his opponent to take off immediately.
“Hey! Hey! I didn’t say ‘go’! Get back here!” But as he says that, he knows there was no stopping his friend. “I’m gonna kill you!”
Will chuckled and shouted, “Bring it to school tomorrow!”
Dustin hits the breaks, out of breath and frustrated as he replies, “Son of a bitch…” Meanwhile, his friend pretended he didn’t hear that as he rode down the street they dubbed ‘Mirkwood’.
Yes, he lived the farthest away from… anything really; His friends’ houses, his school, the nearby strip mall, pretty much everything that was ‘useful’, But he didn’t mind it. As long as his family was happy with their place he could go along with it.
So Will continued to ride, in his own head that was causing him to ignore when his headlight flickered off and on until his bike chain magically came apart.
The boy gasped and swerved in a jagged line, worriedness on his features as he used his feet to forcefully come to a complete halt. Stopping along the side of the road, he looked down, trying to figure out what the problem was. While doing so, he didn’t even notice a car had slowed and rolled its window down.
“Will?” The person in the vehicle said, catching him by surprise.
He was met with a familiar face, the fair skin, freckled nose, and dark curls tied back in a small pony was a girl he practically grew up with. Ironically, she was the older sister of the boy he raced, Stephanie Henderson.
“Steph?” He said, still shocked as he watched her get out. Those bright blue eyes of hers trailed to his only transportation and frowned.
“What happened to your bike?”
“Uh, chain broke. I think.” Will says, looking at it again, and then back at her. “You’re coming home late.”
“You’ll understand when you have a job and a crappy boss.” She smiles, softly. “Come on. Put your bike in the car and I’ll drive you.”
“What?” He looks at her in disbelief. “Are you sure? You came that direction.”
“You know I don’t mind. Besides, it’s quicker and safer than walking. Plus I’m sure your brother and mother would appreciate it.” She says, opening the back door.
“But what about your mom?”
“I called her already and told her that I’ll be a little late.” She gestures to the car. “Come on.” He smiles and puts the bike in before hopping in the passenger seat. She even spoils him by handing him a paper brown bag. “Cinnamon bun?”
His eyes light up. “Actually, Dustin betted me that if I beat him in a race back to his house I can have whatever you bring.”
“Then I guess they’re all yours.” She turns the car around. “So how was your campaign?”
“It was good until the end.” He takes a bite of the pastry. “I ended up getting beaten by the Demogorgon.”
“Remind me what that is again?”
“He’s a two headed demon prince. Very evil.”
“I see.”
Another bite and a small hum. “You should try playing it.”
She raises an eyebrow. “You think?”
“Yeah, it’ll be fun!” Now he was like a kid in a candy store. “You can be… our mage! A druid, or maybe even a ranger.”
She chuckles quietly. “I… have no idea what any of that even means. But uh… I’ll give it a shot. What’s the worst that can happen? I hate it?”
“Or you get eaten by a Demogorgon.”
“That’s true.” Steph agreed, and continued their light conversation until something strange started to happen. She watches as her headlights suddenly start to flicker. “What the?”
“Look out!” Will yelled, and her eyes snapped back up just in time to spot the bizarre looking figure in the road.
She gasps and veers off the road, foot slamming into the brakes as it rolled down and down into the woods, crashing into a tree. Now, it wasn’t that bad of a hit, more like a little thump, but still. A crash is a crash.
Stephanie lets out a pant, tiling her baseball cap back up to look worriedly towards her passenger. “Shit! You okay?”
“Uh…” He nods, a little shaken up, but looking unharmed. “Yeah. I’m good.”
Another pant and she looks around. “Who that fuck was that?!” She snaps, upset. “Who the fuck stands in the middle of the road at nine o’clock at night?!”
But as she was having her meltdown, Will was staring at the side mirror and paled. “Steph?” He says, terrified.
“What?”
“I think he’s coming.”
“What?” She followed his eyes to the mirror before turning around. Standing behind them a few feet away was the figure who made her heart sink at its unnaturally long arms, and fingers coming at a point. Now she starts pales. “That’s not a person.”
“Huh?”
She starts fiddling with the door. “Get out of– Get out of the car, now!”
Once they were both out, she snags him by the wrist and pulls him along, running as fast as they could, a few miles down, all the way back to what their destination was. As soon as they stepped a foot inside the Byers home, the family’s dog, Chester, started barking defensively as she told the boy to lock the door.
“Mom? Jonathan? Mom?!” He replies after finishing the task, but alas it seems like they were the only ones home.
“Ms. Byers?!” Steph yells out, biting her lip. “Shit.” She runs for the phone as he looks out a window and sees the figure approaching the house. She tries dialing 911, but all she receives on the other end is static. “What the fuck?!”
“It’s unlocking the chain!” Will yells, backing away as she takes a look. Sure enough, they watched the chain on the door slide itself across the track as the other locks started to turn (What in the fresh hell is going on?!).
“Come on!” She pulls him away, thinking the only thing they can do is protect themselves now.
They both run into the shed in the back, Will remembering what his mother had told him if something to this degree started happening, and begins loading the shotgun on the wall.
“Is that all you got?” She asked, searching around for anything else she could use.
“Y-Yeah.” He mutters, and frantically points the weapon at the door, trembling as the girl stood behind him, hands over his and shielding his body protectively.
“If that thing comes in, shoot it. I’ll hold you steady so you don’t fall back.” She says, and he nods (His body subconsciously pressing into hers out of fear and comfort).
But the next few moments were tedtious, hearing that thing growling, which got louder and louder, until it sounded like it was right next to them. Steph, who felt the wind get knocked out of her, was the first to turn around, eyes widened as she kept the boy behind her, feeling him clench her jacket.
“What the fuck are you?!” She screamed, the growling turning into screeching.
Then the light in the shed gets brighter and brighter– Until everything suddenly stops.
Then…
.
.
.
There was no one left.
•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°
As soon as the sun touched his face, the boy reached over and shut his alarm clock off before it could even ring. Groaning and stretching, he was feeling extremely exhausted after being up so late (But last night was so fun, it was totally worth it!). Grinning a toothless grin, Dustin rolled out of bed, his clothes in hand as he strolls to the end of the hall for the bathroom. However–
He lets out a sigh and throws his head back at the door being closed. “Oh, my god. Phanie! I told you I needed to use the bathroom first on school days.” Seriously, how many times has he told his sister this? He doesn’t get a reply, and bangs on the door. “Phanie!! Are you listening?”
And on the last knock, to his surprise, the door creaked open. Being cautious, he poked his head inside finding the light was off and the room was unoccupied.
“Huh.” He said, looking around again. “Okay…” He quickly gets ready for the day, fixing his curls so his hat stays on, before adventuring back out. “Goodbye, sleepyhead!”
And once again, Dustin was shocked to find that now his sister’s room was unoccupied as well. The only thing present was their cat, Mews, who was curled up in a ball on the still perfectly made bed… with everything on it still looking the same in place.
What the? He thought, before heading for the kitchen where his mother was listening to the news.
// -And that’s it for News Center this morning. Thanks for joining us. Let’s hand off now to Liz at the news desk //
// All right, thank you, Donna. Turning now to local news, we’re getting reports of surges and power outages all across the county. Last night, hundreds of homes in East Hawkins were affected, leaving many residents in the dark. The cause of the outage is still unknown. We reached out to Roane County Water and Electric, and a spokesperson says that they are confident power will be restored to all remaining homes within the next– //
“Hey, mom, have you seen Stephanie?” He asked, ignoring the fact his mother was making him his favorite breakfast meal.
“Stephanie?” His mother, Claudia, asked as she slid him a plate. “No, I haven’t.”
“She’s not in her room.” He replies, taking a seat, thinking. “Did you see her come home last night?”
“Well, she did call me saying that she was going to be late, but I’ll admit, I dozed off before I heard her come in.” She notices her son’s worried expression, and smiles. “Oh, don’t worry, Dusty-buns. I’m sure she had to just pick up a friend for school. I can drive you.”
“No, I can bike, I just…” He trails off, not really hungry anymore. We always eat together.

Meanwhile, in another household. Joyce Byers was rummaging around her living room for her keys, cursing under her breath after every failed attempt.
“Where the hell are they?” She sighs. “Jonathan?”
“Check the couch!” Her oldest child said from the kitchen.
“Ugh, I did.” She moves the cushions around again, finally spotting them. “Oh, got them.” She smiles and comes over to give him a pat on the shoulder. “Okay, sweetie, I will see you tonight.”
“Yeah, see you later.” He says, finishing up the eggs.
“Where’s Will?”
“Oh, I didn’t get him up yet. He’s probably still sleeping.”
Joyce sighs, already leaving the room. “Jonathan, you have to make sure he’s up!”
“Mom, I’m making breakfast.”
“I told you this a thousand times. Will!” She claps her hands. “Come on, honey. It’s time to get up.” She pushes open his door only to find that his bed was empty. “He came home last night, right?”
Jonathan’s heart sank as he faced his mother. “He’s not in his room?
“Did he come home or not?”
“I don’t know.”
“You don’t know?”
“No. I-I got home late. I was working.”
She gives her son ‘the look’. “You were working?”
“Eric asked if I could cover. I said yeah. I just thought we could use the extra cash.”
“Jonathan, we’ve talked about this.”
He frowns, looking away. “I know…”
“You can’t take shifts when I’m working.” She says, wheels turning in her head at where he could be.
“Mom, it’s not a big deal.” He makes eye contact again. “Look, he was at the Wheelers’ all day. I’m sure he just stayed over.”
“I can’t believe you.” She says, already grabbing the phone. “I can’t believe you sometimes.” She starts dialing the phone number she knows by heart and waits.
[ ‘Hello?’ ]
“Hi, Karen. It’s Joyce.”
[ ‘Oh, Joyce, hi.’ ]
Before Joyce could ask, she hears a ruckus in the background.
[ ‘Quiet!’ ]
“Was that Will I heard back there?” She asked, hopefully.
[ ‘Will? No, no, no, it’s just Mike.’ ]
“Will didn’t spend the night?”
[ ‘No, he left here a little bit after 8:00. Why? He’s not home?’]
Joyce tries to keep the panic off her face as she replies, “Um, you know what? I think he just left early for... for school. Thank you so much.”
[ ‘Okay.’ ]
“Bye.”
[ ‘Bye.’ ]
Joyce hangs up the phone, exchanging concerned glances with her eldest child.

Three out of the four boys rode to school that morning, chattering away about a certain person that’ll only end in sadness. Frowning as they slowed down to their usual bike rack that laid empty before them.
“That’s weird. I don’t see him.” Mike said, noticing the absent bike. Did he park somewhere else this time?
“I’m telling you, his mom’s right.” Lucas said, trying to be the reasonable one. “He probably just went to class early again. You know he’s always paranoid that Gursky’s gonna give him another pop quiz.”
“That’s true.”
“Yeah… pop quiz...” Dustin mumbled, being completely distant from the group.
Lucas sighs, rolling his eyes. “Dude, you still worried about your sister?”
“Well, yeah! I mean, why was she not home? We always eat breakfast with each other, how could she just skip out on it?”
“She’s sixteen, you know? You’re just overreacting. I’m sure Steph is fine.”
“I don’t man, this ain’t like her.”
“Dustin–”
“Step right up, ladies and gentlemen!” A bully, named Troy, announced as he came over with another boy. “Step right up and get your tickets for the freak show.” He smirks. “Who do you think would make more money in a freak show?” He pushes Lucas first. “Midnight–” Then Mike. “Frogface–” Then Dustin. “Or Toothless?”
The other bully, James, looks pensive for a moment before making his decision with a point. “I’d go with Toothless.”
Dustin’s cheeks flush out of embarrassment. “I told you a million times, my teeth are coming in. It’s called cleidocranial dysplasia.”
“‘I told you a million times’.” James mocks, and laughs.
“Do the arm thing.” Troy pressures, as Dustin takes a small step back.
“Do it, freak!” Deciding to just comply, Dustin cracks his arms with his collar bone, making him and Troy groan and recoil. “God, it gets me every time.”
Then the two of them push through the boys as they leave for class; The trio sending them a death glare.
“Assholes.” Luca scoffed.
“I think it’s kinda cool.” Mike said, trying to cheer Dustin up. “It’s like you have superpowers or something. Like Mr. Fantastic.”
Dustin chuckles. “Yeah, except I can’t fight evil with it.”
•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°
Meanwhile, in the high school next door, Mike’s older sister was hustling inside, books in hand, acting all flustered. It especially didn’t help when her friend came over, grinning like the Chester Cat.
“So, did he call? The ginger girl, Barb, asked all giggly.
The sister, Nancy, shushes her looking around. “Keep your voice down.”
She nudges her with her elbow. “Did he?”
“I told you, it’s not like that.” Nancy blushes harder when Barb gave her a look. “Okay, I mean, yes, he likes me, but not like that. We just made out a couple times.
Barb raises an eyebrow. “‘We just made out a couple times’. Nance, seriously, you’re gonna be so cool now, it’s ridiculous.”
“No, I’m not.” She shakes her head while unlocking her locker.
“You better still hang out with me, that’s all I’m saying. If you become friends with Tommy H. or Carol–”
“Oh, that’s gross!”
“I’m just saying, you better still be friends with me. I heard that the King pushed a close friend out of his circle when he took the throne and–”
“Okay, I’m telling you, it was a one-time... two-time thing.”
She opens her locker, finding a note that read: MEET ME IN BATHROOM -STEVE.
Barb’s expression grew. “You were saying?”
•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°
Before you know it, Nancy is having a make out session with the highschool’s King, Steve “The Hair” Harrington. The cocky bad boy that every girl fawns over, and the physic that every guy envies. If you wanted any kind of popularity while running around this place, you had to make a guarantee that he would be in your corner.
“Steve.” Nancy croaked in between kisses, making him hum. “I have to go.”
“In a minute.” He mumbled, nibbling at her neck as the school bell rings.
“Steve–” She nudged her way out from him. “I really, like seriously, I have to go.”
“Wait, wait, wait. Let’s…” He snags her bag, keeping her in place for a second. “Come on, let’s do something tonight, yeah?”
“No, I can’t. I have to study for Kaminsky’s test.”
“Oh, come on. What’s your GPA again? 3.999–”
“Kaminsky’s tests are impossible.”
“Well, then, just let me help.” He said, smirking.
She rolls her eyes with a smile. “You failed chem.”
“C-minus.”
“Well, in that case–”
“So I’ll be over around, say, like, 8:00?”
“Are you crazy?” Nancy shakes her head. “My mom would not–”
“I’ll climb through your window.” He insisted, all pumped up at the idea. “She won’t even know I’m there. I’m stealthy, like a ninja.”
“You are crazy.” She says, taking her bag back and starts leaving.
“Wait, wait, wait. Just…” He steps in front of her. “Okay, forget about that. We can just– We can just, like, chill in my car. We can find a nice quiet place to park, and–”
“Steve, I have to study. I’m not kidding.”
“Well, why do you think I want it to be nice and quiet?”
That got her to crack another smile. “You’re an idiot, Steve Harrington.” She replies, stepping around him. “Meet me at Dearborn and Maple at 8:00. To study.”
The school bell rings again, leaving behind a very satisfied teen.
•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°
“Alright, class, I’ll be your sub for today.” The man explains, writing his name on the board. “I’m Mr. Dunwoody. If you have any questions, please refrain before I take attendance.” He ignores as some of the ‘cool kids’ snickered under their breaths and chuck paper balls around. “Uh, Barkley?”
“Here.”
“Brown?”
“Here.”
“Byers?” No reply. “Jonathan Byers?” He scopes the room, the seat in the back corner was absent. “No Byers. M’kay, uh, Davidson?”
“Present.”
“Evans?”
“Here.”
“Eubank?”
“Here.”
“Henderson.” No reply, he looks around – Yet another seat in the back unattended (And certain eyes following). “Henderson? Is a… Stephanie Henderson in?” His gaze shifts with the class’ and frowns. “No, okay. Uh, Harrington?” Silence. “Harrington?”
Steve blinks and faces forward, snapping out of his trace. “Uh, present.”
“‘Kay, uh–” He started shooting off more names, but the teenager wasn’t honestly listening. Something about that empty space (the space that seemed so far away now) didn’t sit right with him. And the gossiping in the background wasn’t helping his troubled mind either.
“Maybe grunge girl finally got the hint.”
“Oh, yeah. For sure.”
“Do you think the pressure made her drop out?”
“Drop out?” A laugh. “Maybe she took a dive off the overpass.”
“Guess we’ll have to check the news later for that!”
They laughed under their breaths and Steve’s hands started subconsciously squeezing his crossed arms. This shouldn’t bother him. It’s not like they’re–
He didn’t even realize he was turning around to say something if it was for Tommy’s hand snagging his shoulder. It, and he’s not sure if he can admit, hurt in a way he can’t describe. They both locked eyes, and Tommy shook his head ‘no’ just as the substitute finished calling out names, starting the soulless class.

As usual the town’s head sheriff was strolling into his job late and looking like he’d been hit by truck after truck. His five o’clock shadow was strong and so were the bags under his eyes; Jim Hopper walks in with a lit cigarette in his hand, the receptionist amazed by his appearance.
“Good of you to show.” She said, as he passed by and gave a small nod to the other officers present.
“Oh, hey, morning, Flo. Morning, everybody.” He says, heading for the small kitchenette to pour himself some coffee.
“Hey, Chief.” Powell greeted with a grin.
“Damn! You look like hell, Chief.” Callahan replies, looking up from his game of cards.
“Oh, yeah?” Hopper spares him a look.
“Yeah.”
“Well, I looked better than your wife when I left her this morning.” His response made his brothers bust a gut as the elderly woman came over, trying to get his attention.
“While you were drinking or sleeping, or whatever it is you deemed so necessary on Monday morning, Phil Larson called. Said some kids are stealing the gnomes out of his garden again.” Flo explains, as he tries not to roll his eyes (or maybe he did?).
“Oh, those garden gnomes again.” He sighs, and picks up a donut too. “Well, I’ll tell you what, I’m gonna get right on that.”
Flo keeps a straight face, used to his antics by now. “On a more pressing matter, Joyce Byers can’t find her son this morning.”
He hums after taking a bite of the pastry. “Okay, I’m gonna get on that.” He starts walking away. “Just give me a minute.”
“Joyce is very upset.” She pushes, as he shakes his head.
“Well, Flo– Flo, we’ve discussed this. Mornings are for coffee and contemplation.”
“Chief, she’s already in your–”
“Coffee and contemplation, Flo!” He shouts as he leaves the room, and, due to not paying attention, is surprised to see Ms. Byers already waiting in his office. His jaw clenched. “Okay… Missing? I’ve been told.”
“Yes, missing!” Joyce says, watching him sit down and start typewriting a file out for her boy. Worriedly she waits for him to finish, even smoking bud after bud to calm the jitters. “I have been waiting here over an hour, Hopper.”
“And I apologize.” He says, trying to calm her.
“I’m going out of my mind!”
“Look, boy his age, he’s probably just playing hooky, okay?”
She shakes her head. “No, not my Will. He’s not like that– He wouldn’t do that.”
“Well, you never know.” He suggests, a little smirk growing on his lips. “I mean, my mom thought I was on the debate team, when really I was just screwing Chrissy Carpenter in the back of my dad’s Oldsmobile, so–”
“Look, he’s not like you, Hopper. He’s not like me. He’s not like most.” She explains, her face saddening. “He has a couple of friends, but, you know, the kids, they’re mean. They make fun of him. They call him names. They laugh at him, his clothes–”
“His clothes?” Hopper’s eyebrows shoot up. “What’s wrong with his clothes?”
“I don’t know. Does that matter?”
“Maybe.”
Joyce inhales deeply. “Look, he’s... He’s a sensitive kid. Lonnie…” God she could punch that man right now. “Lonnie used to say he was queer. Called him a fag.”
Another eyebrow raise. “Is he?”
“He’s missing! Is what he is.”
“When was the last time you heard from Lonnie?”
“Uh, last I heard, he was in Indianapolis. That was about a year ago. But he has nothing to do with this.”
“Why don’t you give me his number?”
“You know, Hopper, he has nothing to do with this. Trust me.”
Hopper’s body straightens, hands coming to rest on his desk to make sure she was listening. “Joyce, 99 out of 100 times, kid goes missing, the kid is with a parent or relative.”
Her eyes widened. “What about the other time?”
He blinks. “What?”
“You said, ‘99 out of 100’. What about the other time, the one?”
“Joyce.”
“The one!”
Hopper tries to deescalate again. “Joyce, this is Hawkins, okay? You wanna know the worst thing that’s ever happened here in the four years I’ve been working here?” He could hold back a small smile. “Do you wanna know the worst thing? It was when an owl attacked Eleanor Gillespie’s head because it thought that her hair was a nest.”
Joyce sighs. “Okay, fine. I will call Lonnie. He will talk to me before he talks to–”
“What, a pig?”
“A cop! Just find my son, Hop. Find him!”
And then came a knock on the doorframe, which happened to be Flo who looked apologetic this time.
“Chief, I’m sorry, I have another hectic parent. A Ms. Claudia Henderson is here to see you.”
“What?” Hopper said, and just before he could blink, a blonde woman came stumbling in, all nervous just like someone else in present.
“Hopper, I’m sorry if you’re busy, but–”
“Claudia?” Joyce said, standing up with surprise.
“Joyce?” Claudia’s face washes over with relief upon seeing her. “What brings you here?”
“It’s Will, I can’t find him.” She says, missing the way the other woman’s face lost all color. “And apparently he didn’t go to school either.”
“Well, what a coincidence. I can’t find my daughter, either.”
And then all eyes are now on the police Chief who was dumbfounded this was all happening at once. After a moment, he sighed and pulled Will’s form out of the typewriter before sliding in a new piece of paper.
“Alright.” He gestures to the chair. “Let’s hear your story.”
•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°
And then that’s how the police chief found himself at a middle school. His first “suspects” in this case was Will’s inner circle of friends. But what he wasn’t expecting while sitting in the principal’s office was the trio to be talking over one another frantically.
“Okay, okay, okay.” Hopper says, waving for them to stop which they did. “One at a time, all right?” He points to Mike. “You. You said he takes what?”
“Mirkwood.” Mike said, confusing him.
“Mirkwood?”
“Yeah.”
Hopper sighs, looking at his partner. “Have you ever heard of Mirkwood?”
“I have not.” Callahan shakes his head. “That sounds made up to me.”
“No, it’s from Lord of the Rings.” Lucas says, offended.
“Well, The Hobbit.” Dustin pushes as his friend rolls his eyes.
“Who cares?”
“He asked!”
“‘He asked’!” Lucas mocked which started their bickering again.
“Hey, hey, hey!” Hopper yells, getting to stop once more. “What’d I just say? One at a damn time.” He points to Mike again. “You.”
“Mirkwood, it’s a real road. It’s just the name that’s made up. It’s where Cornwallis and Kerley meet.” Mike explains, giving the Chief a picture now.
“Yeah, all right, I think I know that.”
“We can show you, if you want.” The boy replies, his friends agreeing with him immediately.
Hopper shakes his head. “I said that I know it!”
“We can help look.” Mike pleads.
“Yeah.” Dustin encouraged.
“No.” The boys try to protest, but he shuts it down again. “No. After school, you are all to go home. Immediately. That means no biking around looking for your friend, no investigating, no nonsense. This isn’t some Lord of the Rings book.”
“The Hobbit.” Dustin mumbles, quietly.
“Shut up!” Lucas said, elbowing him.
“Hey!”
“Stop it!” Hopper snaps, while standing up. “Do I make myself clear?” He gets no answer. “Do I make myself clear?”
Mike nods. “Yes, sir.”
“Good.” He faces the principal. “Sir, thank you for your time.”
“Wait!” Dustin cuts in, and makes the man groan.
“What?”
“What about my sister? You mentioned her earlier. What about her?”
“Kid, listen, your sister’s sixteen, and to be honest, I believe a teenager playing hooky more than your friend Will. Okay?” Hopper tried to leave again, but the kid wasn’t letting up.
“But Stephanie’s not like that! I mean, yeah, she doesn’t necessarily like school, but she always studies hard to get good grades. She’s a good noodle.” Dustin frowns worriedly. “Trust me, she would never skip school. I mean… did you even check the parking lot to see if her car was there? Or the mall that she works at?”
I guess… the kid did have a point, Hopper will admit that one. He locks eyes with his partner who shrugs.
“I mean, we might as well kill two birds with one stone while we’re here.” Callahan says, truthfully.
“Yeah, you’re right.” Hopper sighs. “Okay. So Dustin, did your sister have any… friends we could talk to?” Then they got quiet, looking amongst themselves. “What? No? She didn’t? Or–?”
“Well, not really.” Dustin admits, bittersweet. “I mean, she probably hangs out with us more than anything at this point.”
“I mean, she’s friends with that douchebag Steve.” Lucas said, upset.
“Was friends. Not anymore.” Mike clarifies.
“Was a friend?” Hopper asked, skeptical. “What happened?”
“Not sure. They were inseparable until one day they just… weren’t.” Dustin replies, which was the truth. He remembers seeing Steve around a few times as he grew up, but then one day his sister stopped going out and didn’t even mention him anymore. Then before he knew it, he witnessed first hand the boy’s ‘asshole’ attitude (Makes him glad that she wasn’t around him anymore).
“Okay, then. What’s his name?”
•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°
“Steve Harrington.”
Steve stopped himself from getting into his BMW to look who was calling him out. To his shock he found two police officers in his presence, and immediately felt sick.
“Um, can I help you, officers?” He asked, paying no heed to the passing stares from other students.
“I’m officer Hopper, this is my partner Callahan. We just want to ask you a few questions.” Hopper explains, as the teenager nods.
“Am I in trouble?”
“No, son. As long as you comply.”
“Okay.”
“Alright then, do you know a girl by the name of Stephanie Henderson?”
His heart sank again like earlier. “Stephanie?” Steve asked, his throat feeling tight (Why was his throat closing up?).
“Yeah. We were told by her brother that you guys used to be friends. Is that true?”
“Yeah, that’s true.”
“Have you spoken to her recently? Seen her?” Hopper asked, getting a shake of his head.
“Seen her? Yeah, I mean I see her everyday, we’re in the same classes, but I didn’t see her today.” Steve shifts his weight around on his feet. “As for talking, I haven’t spoken to her in years.”
“So you haven’t had any real contact with her?”
“No, sir.” Steve watches the two adults exchange glances which pique his interest. “May I ask what’s going on with her? Is she in trouble?”
“Not necessarily trouble, I would say. Her mom came down by the station earlier and reported her missing, saying she didn’t see her in the morning and when they called the school she wasn’t there.”
“If I’m being honest, son, she’s a teenager, she probably just wanted some time alone.” Callahan replies, with a half shrug. “Besides, everyone knows her mother’s a bit… out there. She tends to overreact.”
“There’s nothing for you to worry about, Mr. Harrington. We appreciate your time.” Hopper replies, bidding him a farewell as he begins to leave (but this wasn’t sitting right with the boy’s stomach).
“She never misses her classes though.” Steve blurts out, getting their attention. “Even now, even if we aren’t friends, I notice she never misses school. It’s completely out of her character.”
It really is though. Steve waited until the officers processed his comment, before nodding.
“Noted.” Was all Hopper said and they left, leaving him high and dry, wondering what was truly going on. He was so stuck in his head he didn’t even notice Tommy and Carol making their way towards him.
“Oooh, looks like someone’s in trouble.” Tommy coos, with a grin.
“What did you do, Harrington? Slash Tammy Thompson’s tires finally?” Carol asked, making herself laugh.
But Steve didn’t find this funny, instead his attention was turned back to climbing in the passenger seat. “I gotta go home.”
“What?” Tommy said, caught off guard.
“I gotta go home.”
“What? But you said we were going to the movies?”
“Maybe tomorrow I–” He couldn’t even think straight. “I’m sorry. I’ll see you tomorrow.” He shuts his car door as his name is being called, and quickly pulls away.
•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°
Along the Mirkwood road, the three officers were paneling out, surveying the area. Everyone was shouting Will’s name, except Hopper who nerves were shooting through the roof; So much so, he had to stop and pop a pill. These kinds of situations, especially evolving children, were hard for him to deal with. It reminded him too much of his own–
Wait a minute. Were his eyes deceiving him? Does actually see this or was this another one of his episodes?
But after triple checking, he finally calls the others forward. “Hey! I think I got something.”
He steps off the room, jogging a few feet into the woods. If it wasn’t for the daylight, he surely would have missed a huge clue that was being covered by a few shrubs and ankle deep piles of autumn leaves. Smashed into one of the sweet gum trees was a car, windshield cracked and lightly powdered in stray branches.
“I don’t remember hearing anything about crashes this morning.” Powell said, confused as he examined it.
Hopper’s keen eyes also caught something lying in the backseat and pulled it out. He frowns, his nerves spiking again. “This is Will’s bike.”
“His bike?” Powell asked, suspicious now. “You don’t think this was uh… a kidnapping?”
“It’s possible. But it doesn’t explain why the kidnapper would crash and abandon the car. Then leave evidence of the child behind.”
“Now, what a second.” Callahan said, perking up. “This is a 1975 Tan Ford Granada, the same car that Ms. Henderson said her daughter drives.”
Hopper’s eyes widen as he sets the bike down. “She also said that her daughter had a Journey keychain.” He opens the driver door, and sure enough, still in the dead ignition, there was a little band keychain dangling off her car key. “Shit.” He locks eyes with his partners. “Which way is the mall?”
Powell pointed in the direction that he feared the most. It was in the same direction the Byers’ house was. Now it was starting to make sense.
“What are you thinking, Chief?”
Hopper frowns. “Well, if you look at the bike, the chain’s broken. My guess, Stephanie was driving by and saw him on the side of the road, and offered him a ride home.”
“Then how do you explain the car being off road?”
He sighs, dreading for the answer (both in a good and a bad way). “I’m not sure.”
•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°
Saying Joyce Byers was livid was probably not a strong enough word after being hung up on so many times. Why, out of the times she actually needed to talk to her ex-husband, he doesn’t answer the phone?! She could pull all her hair out from that man. No wonder they were divorced since he frustrates her so–
“Mom?” Jonathan said, standing up from the couch (He was currently making missing child signs for his brother).
“What?”
“Cops.” Sure enough, they saw many cop cars pull up, including a tow truck with a car none of them recognize.
“Is that his bike?” Joyce said, worriedly once she was outside. “And who’s car is that?”
“We found this in Stephanie Henderson’s car.” Hopper replies, sitting the bike down.
“Stephanie’s car?” Jonathan said, surprised. Well, I guess he shouldn’t be that surprise, ‘cause although they’re not exactly friends as one thinks they might be, given the situation, he knows her enough that she’s the type of girl to give you the shirt off her back if you need it.
“Our best guess right now is that she saw him on the side of the road and offered to drive him back. It makes sense since her mother told us Stephanie called to let her know she’ll be running late from work. And given the time stamp Will’s friends provided us, them crossing paths match up.”
“But that still doesn’t explain everything!” Joyce says, trying to piece this together. “Where did you find her car?”
He sighs quietly. “Down off the road, into the forest.” He starts walking away, motioning for his men to follow him. “Split up, fellas.” He said, once they were inside.
“Did it have any blood on it? Or– or what was the condition of the car? Did it slide off the road?” Joyce asked as she followed him around. “And why are you here instead of looking?”
“Well, he had a key to the house, right?”
“Yeah.”
“So maybe he came home. Maybe they both came home.”
Joyce scoffs, stepping in front of him. “You think I didn’t check my own house?”
“I’m not saying that.” He says, eyes trailing away upon catching something else. “Has this always been here?” He walked over and pointed to an indent in the wall.
“What? I don’t know. Probably. I mean, I have two boys. Look at this place.”
He suddenly opens the door to the backyard, the doorknob trailing directly to the spot of the mini hole. “You’re not sure?” He’s about to question it some more when the dog suddenly starts barking. He heads outside, finding Chester angrily staring down the shed. “Hey, what’s up with this guy, huh?”
“Nothing, he’s probably just hungry.” Joyce said, after following him out. She sighs and drags the dog by the collar. “Come on.”
But as they left, Hopper’s gaze was focused on the shed. Why was the dog so wound up from that place? Treading carefully, he goes inside, flipping the lightswitch on that buzzed lightly above. His eyes scaled the room, immediately noticing something. His fingers wrapped around the box full of shotgun shells, realizing it was half empty.
Empty? He thought, setting it down and heading for where the weapon would be stored. But the two hooks screwed into the wall were bare, and to a shock, when his fingers brushed where it should be, the light suddenly shut itself off.
Out of instinct his hand latched around a flashlight nearby, turning it on. He turned the light towards the door, wondering if someone was just screwing with him but… no one.
Okay… not creepy at all. He trailed it around, looking closely, nothing making him want to stand on his toes until he decided to turn around. That’s when he saw the back half of the shed was a mess, shelves torn off, boxes and objects thrown everywhere, some even being crushed under some kind of weight. Even the hair on the back of his neck stood up when he swears he could hear someone growling.
His heart was beating in his ears as he crouched down, looking around for anything. (Un)Luckily enough, there was no kid laying emotionless in the pile. He frowns, wondering what scared the boy so much that he went to grab a gun. And then–
Something shiny caught his eye.
He reached out and picked it up, a gold chain unraveled, showing off a heart shaped pendant with two initials carved into it.
S.H.
“Shit.” Hopper whispered, horrified.
“Hey!”
He shot to his feet, turning around to face his brother in blue. “Jesus!”
“What are you, deaf? I’ve been calling you.” Callahan said, before noticing how ill his boss looked. “What’s going on?”
“Fuck…” Hopper mumbled and started racing back outside.
“Are you sure you’re okay, Chief?”
“Listen, I want you to call Flo. I want to get a search party together, all right? All the volunteers she can muster. Bring flashlights, too.”
“Chief?” Callahan stops him before he goes back into the house. “Hey, you think we got a problem here?”
“I don’t think, I know.” Hopper shows off the necklace. “We’re going to the Henderson’s house.”

Dustin watches with fear as the officers explain the situation on hand about his older sister. His mom of course was hysterical, giving the professionals a challenge to get answers out of her.
“Oh, who could have hurt my baby? And poor Will too.” Claudia sobbed into her handkerchief. “She’s always so kind to others, of course she would have offered him a ride.”
“Ma’am, I know you’re upset, and we’re sending a search party out as soon as possible. But I just need you to confirm that this is your daughter’s, then we can make this one big old case.” Hoppy explains, trying not to be snappy with his words. “Now–” He shows off the necklace. “Is this your daughter’s?”
Dustin’s eyebrows shot up through the roof. “She still wears that?!” He said, shocking both himself and the officer.
“What?”
“Y-Yes.” Claudia said, nodding. “That’s hers.”
“Thank you.” Hopper says, placing it in her palm. He spins his heels around to Powell. “Let’s go. We got two missing people we’re looking for.”
“Please find her.” She begged, getting his attention once more. “I can’t lose my only daughter.” But all she gets is a sad nod from him as he leaves, watching as all the cars pull off her driveway in a hurry. She sighs and then gasps when felt her son take the necklace away from her, studying it intensely. “Dusty, why were you so surprised she still wears it?”
“Don’t you remember who gave this to her?” He asked, slightly sour.
“Well, no.”
He sighs, and starts leaving the room. “It’s nothing.”
And it should stay that way.

Meanwhile, later in the day, a heated discussion was going on at the Wheeler’s house over a nice homemade dinner.
“We should be out there right now. We should be helping look for him.” Mike said for the millionth time tonight, extremely close to igniting the fuse in his own mother.
“We’ve been over this, Mike.” Karen said, drawing her attention away from her toddler. “The chief says–”
“I don’t care what the chief said.”
“Michael!”
“We have to do something! Will can be in danger.”
“More reason to stay put.”
“Mom!”
“End of discussion.” She snapped, silencing her son. But when one bird stops chirping, another one decides to start a tune.
“So me and Barbara are gonna study at her house tonight. That’s cool, right?” Nancy says, not an ask, but that of course gets shot down too.
“No, not cool.”
“What? Why not?”
“Why do you think? Am I speaking Chinese in this house? Until we know Will is okay, no one leaves.”
“This is such bullshit.” Nancy replies, dropping her fork.
“Language.” Ted chimes in, still munching on his food.
“So we’re under house arrest? Just because Mike’s friend got lost on the way home from–”
“Wait, this is Will’s fault?” Mike spat, sending daggers at his sister.
“Nancy, take that back.” Karen warned, as Holly started to get teary eyed.
“No!” Nancy scoffed.
“You’re just pissed off ‘cause you wanna hang out with Steve.” Mike quips, sending the whole room into silence. He swallows when he realizes he messed up (and how his sister looked like she was going to kill him).
“Steve?” Her father asked, finally tuning back in.
“Who is Steve?” Her mother asked, as her son decided to just roll with it anyway.
“Her new boyfriend.”
“You are such a douchebag, Mike!” Nancy yells, throwing the chair back and marching out of the room.
“Language!” Ted says, as Karen sighs.
“Nancy, come back. Come back!” She shakes her head, and cups her youngest cheek. “It’s okay. It’s okay, Holly.” She holds up her sippy cup. “Here, have some juice, okay?”
“You see, Michael? You see what happens?”
“What happens when what?” Mike snaps again, still in disbelief. “I’m the only one acting normal here! I’m the only one that cares about Will!”
“That is really unfair, son. We care.” And now his words drove his son away from the dinner table.
“Mike!” Karen yells after him too.
“Let him go.” Ted encourages, as his wife picks up their child.
“I hope you’re enjoying your chicken, Ted.” She says, then leaves herself.
“What did I do?” He notices he is truly alone now. “What’d I do?”

Dustin was sitting on his bed, holding his sister’s necklace in his palm. It was a gold color chain with a dark red heart shaped guitar pick. It even had her initials scratched into it. Such a beautiful and expensive gift. However, he still wonders why she even still wears it. Especially since it was gifted by none of other then–
[ ‘Dustin, do you copy? It’s Lucas.’ ]
He perked up from the voice of his friend coming through on his walkie, and scrambled off the bed to his desk. “Lucas. What’s up?”
[ ‘Mike just called me. Says he wants to go out looking for Will.’ ]
“Looking for Will?” He gasps at how perfect this was. “We can look for Phanie too!”
[ ‘Steph? You mean she hasn’t come home yet?’ ]
“No! That’s what I’ve been saying!” Why don’t his friends listen to him sometimes? “So she’s out there, we have to go find her as well!”
[ ‘I mean, we can. But we’re biking over where Will was last–’ ]
“Oh, no. I got that! But…” Dustin frowns. “Wait. You didn’t hear?”
[ ‘Hear what?’ ]
“Oh, my god– Okay! Well, long story short, my sister wasn’t playing hooky like everyone thought.”
[ ‘What do you mean?’ ]
“According to the police, Phanie apparently gave Will a ride home before somewhere along the way, her car ended up in the woods. They found his bike in her car, and even found her necklace at his home. So, Lucas, my sister was with Will! It’s not just Will who’s missing! My sister is too! Together!”
He thought might have exploded his friend’s brain after the long silence he was given.
[ ‘Oh shit…’ ]
“Yeah!”
[ ‘We have to tell Mike this when we meet up. Don’t worry, man, we’ll find her too.’ ]
“And I have faith in us.” Dustin peeks outside his door. “My mom’s watching her shows right now to keep herself distracted. So we have a few hours.”
[ ‘Perfect. See you in ten.’ ]
“See you in ten.” He puts down the antenna, clenching the necklace in his palm. “Don’t worry, sis, we’re going to find you too.”
•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°
[ ‘I’m sorry.’ ]
He heard her apologize for the millionth time while over the phone. He can imagine her cute little face full of irritation (was that reason to be in love with a person?).
[ ‘My… dumb mother has me under house arrest until morning.’ ]
“Don’t sweat it, Nance.” He said, leaning against the wall while they talked. “You know… I could always be sneaky like a ninja and–”
[ ‘No, Steve. You know what my parents would do if they caught you?’ ]
He hums. “Um, congratulate me?”
[ ‘Steve.’ ]
Steve laughs. “Alright, alright. I’m joking. Uh–” He runs a hand through his locks. “We could… study over the phone?”
That was a good idea.
Right?
Her silence was making him worry. “Um, Nancy?”
[ ‘Sorry. I was thinking. It’s a tempting offer but… risky. I don’t want my parents eavesdropping.’ ]
“Do they tend to eavesdrop?”
[ ‘Steve!’ ]
“Alright, I’ll stop.”
[ ‘We’ll just see each other tomorrow.’ ]
“Of course we will.” He smiles. “As long as uh… the search for that Byers boy isn’t still going on. Heard they’re grabbing everyone in town.”
[ ‘Yeah. Well, it’s not just for him, l mean they’re looking for the Henderson girl too.’ ]
And there it is again.
The horrible, aching feeling in the pit of his stomach.
“S-Stephanie?” The air got trapped in his lungs (Why was it so hard to breathe?). “I thought Will just went missing?” It was just him, right? There’s no way she went missing too. And at the same time no less. “Right, Nancy?”
[ ‘No. From what it sounds like on the news I just overheard, she gave him a ride home, but her car was found abandoned with his bike in it. So… as of now, we have two people missing.’ ]
Stephanie’s really missing? Once again he’s asking himself that it shouldn’t hurt this much, right? It’s not like they’ve been acquitted in years, so–
[ ‘Steve? You there?’ ]
“Uh, um, N-Nancy I… I think I hear my parents. I… I-I got to go.” He said, slurring his words and could practically feel the strange look she was probably giving him right now.
[ ‘You okay?’ ]
“Y-Yeah. I’m… I’m good, I– I think it’s time for dinner.”
[ ‘Isn’t it kind of late for dinner now?’ ]
“Oh, you know, we Harringtons like to have it late. So, uh, pfff– I’ll see you at school tomorrow. Have fun studying.”
[ ‘Steve–’ ]
He hangs up the phone before she questions him anymore.
It just doesn’t make sense. They’re not friends any more so…

Why does it hurt so much?

The rain was coming down like a monsoon. Thunder was starting to rumble, lightning was lingering around waiting to strike. Speaking of waiting… The Byers were on their couch, rummaging through photos that touched their emotions.
“Jonathan, wow. You took these?” Joyce asked, amazed by them. “These are great.” She got her son to crack a smile. “Wow, they really are.” Then came the sniffles again. “I-I know I haven’t been there for you. I’ve been working so hard and… I-I just feel bad. I don’t even barely know what’s going on with you. All right? I am so sorry about that.” And then the sobs started coming from her child. “Hey, what is it? What is it, honey?”
He shakes his head. “Nothing.”
“Tell me. Tell me.” Joyce urges, rubbing his forearm. “Come on. You can–”
“No. It’s just…” Jonathan’s blank expression broke. “I s-should’ve been there for him.”
“No. Oh, no. You can’t do that to yourself.” She shakes her own head and gives him a gentle squeeze. “This was not your fault. Do you hear me? He is… close. I know it. I-I feel it in my heart.” She clenches the left side of her chest. “You just have to… You have to trust me on this, okay?”
He nods while leaning into his mother’s touch. “Yeah.”
“Oh, look at this.” She says, picking one where it was just Will and his cute smile. “Look at this one.” It makes them both quietly laugh. “I mean, that’s it, right?”
“Yeah. That’s it.” He smiles sadly. “W-We should… see if Ms. Henderson had any photos of Stephanie. Maybe we can make a poster together.”
Then her whole world gets thrown around when she hears breathing. “Will?” She chokes, eyes widening. “Will? It’s Will!”
“That’s a good idea.” And the phone rings and she shoots off the couch. She prays and prays it’s good news as she yanks the phone off the receiver. “Hello?” She answers, which happened to be nothing but static.
“Hello? Lonnie? Hopper? Who is this?”
Jonathan was by her side in a split second. “Mom, it’s Will?”
“Who is this?!” Joyce screamed when growling came on the other side. “What have you done to my boy? Give me back my son!” And whoever was truly on the other side, replied by shocking her with electricity. She shrieked and threw the phone away, her son picking it up right after.
“Hello? Hello, who is this?” Jonathan asked, the silence making him furiously hit the phone box. “Hello? Who is this?” He finally hangs up, turning towards his hysterical mother. “Mom, who was it? Who was it, Mom?”
“It was him.” She sobbed, as she was taken in his arms.
“Look at me, was it Will?”
“Yes!”
“What did he say?” Jonathan choked, as his mother reached for the phone, hoping they were still connected.
“He just breathed. He just breathed.”
“And was someone else there?”
“I–”
“Mom, who was there? Who was it?”
“It was him…” She wraps her arms around him, knees almost buckling at the emotional exhaustion. “I know it was his breathing. I know it was his breathing.”

Meanwhile, in the deep depths of the forest, drenched head to toe, the trio was shouting until their lungs hurt, hoping to find any one of their loved ones.
“Will!”
“Stephanie!”
“Byers! Henderson!”
“Anyone?!”
Lucas sighs. “Guys, I’m starting to feel like this is hopeless.”
“Don’t be a big sissy.” Dustin says, getting ‘the look’.
“I’m just being realistic, man.”
“Well, stop being realistic! My sister and Will are missing, and they’re fine.” They have to be. He doesn’t know what he’ll do if they’re–
“Maybe…”
“Lucas!” Mike scolded, getting a shrug.
“What?” Lucas snapped. “I’m just saying. I mean, did any of you ever think Will and Steph went missing because they ran into something bad? And we happened to be going to the exact same spot where they were last seen? And we have no weapons or anything?”
“So?!” Dustin scoffed. “If it was any of us in their place, my sister and Will would be busting their asses trying to find us!”
“Really? How would you know that?”
“I just do!”
“Shut up!” Mike yells, facing them. Their jaws closed and he shushed them quietly. “Shut up and listen.” And then there was a faint sound of rustling. “Do you guys hear that?”
And then the rustling got louder and louder, the boys spinning on their heels and waving their flashlights around for any signs of life. Just as thunder roared and the spotlights moved to another side, that’s when they were practically blinding a person.
Although it was not Will or Stephanie.
It was another child, barefoot and in a shirt that was practically a dress.
Staring in amazed and confusion, the boys weren’t sure what to say except,
“What the hell?”

|| THE NIGHT BEFORE ||
The lights flickered back on with an audible gasp.
She heaved the strange tasting air into her lungs, eyes adjusting to the bright world before it completely went dim, like an eclipse was happening just overhead. Before she could question where she was, she felt someone tug on her jacket and gasp themself.
Stephanie whipped her body around, catching the sight of the young boy who was now having a bit of coughing fit. “Will?” She says, taking the boy by his shoulders, relieved to see him.
“S-Steph?” He choked, taking a moment to look around with his big cocoa eyes. “What just happened?”
Well that was the million dollar question. What actually happened?
She takes a moment to finally look around herself, realizing they were in the… same spot? Yeah… the same spot. They were still inside the shed, still holding the shotgun, but the only difference was no… what can you even call that thing they encountered?
“We’re still in the shed. But it’s…” Will crinkled his button nose at the sight. “Gross.”
Steph swallows, blue orbs landing on the door. “Stay behind me.” She lets herself push open the shed door slowly, heart beating like crazy as she luckily met with no scary creature. She shivered at the sudden drop in temperature. “Jesus, It’s freezing.”
The outside world seemed to be encased in a blue hue, the places around seemed to be tangled with vines and covered in something sticky. There was also a white powder that looked like snow, raining down from the dark skies above. A sky that didn’t even have moonlight like it did a few minutes ago.
Holy shit… She thought, before feeling around her head, worriedly. She then locked eyes with him and asked, “Did you hit your head when we crashed?” He shakes his head, fueling her emotions. So they weren’t dreaming or having a concussion. So what even is this place?
Where the hell are we? And in the distance…
A creature snarled…
