There’s a general consensus that above all else Jason should be homicidal again. However I think what’s also very important is that he should be a fucking hoot.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There’s nothing not funny about this entire bit.
1. He couldn’t give less of a shit about explaining that he’s single-handedly trying to stop a terrorist attack. Obviously cause he’s short on time, but even if he had all the time in the world he would still be this indifferent towards explaining himself to cops.
2. This bomb is seconds away from exploding but he’s at most mildly annoyed like he’s in the office doing some menial task.
3. The perfectly timed British jokes.
4. Circling back to number 1 on the list. After he throws the bomb into the water he just dips. For all they know he’s the (weird) terrorist. (But as long as everyone’s okay he doesn’t care! The beauty of Jason Todd everybody).
Tumblr media
This one is funny (but it’s also true)? Like yes … that is exactly what you are. (A sweet, kind-hearted goodboy learning how to effectively poison people, shoot guns, and blow shit up with all manner of explosives like a certified pro).

Red Hood: The Lost Days #4 (2010-)
“Not so irritating for an American” is a far more impressive title than “genius” if you ask me. Although I think Jason balances both pretty well.

@idkwhattonamethisshitman i decided to make a post with my reply since it got a little too long !
Tumblr media
omg thank you !! 🥺 i am simply too stubborn and forever have the characters living in my head. and you don’t even know how happy i am that you enjoy my headcanons ,,, kicking feet in the air and silently screaming is the end goal !!
but your friend is so incredibly right !! yuuta is an inherently, self-admittedly selfish character and i feel like one might assume that to be an insult but that’s just a product of his childhood. rika is what i can assume his only friend before and after the accident. his parents, were a little to easy to withdraw and are noticeably absent in the series. his sister being the only one to maintain contact, despite being hurt by rika, is very telling. so you have this kid, only one friend in his life, neglected by his parents, forcibly isolated, depressed, suicidal, and ready for execution.
then, you give him these people who know exactly what it means to suffer. child soldiers and prodigies isolated by the strengths they never asked for. you give him a taste of a life filled with crowded dinner tables, socks tucked under his thighs for movie nights, careful hands bandaging his bruises, and don’t expect him to dig his nails in and hold on tight? he doesn’t care about politics, what’s right or wrong, or even the consideration of his own morals. i’m such a fan of the theory that he and toge killed the higher ups, because when i say that violence is a love letter to yuuta, that is exactly what i mean. the higher ups represented every obstacle to his happiness in the forms of sentencing, executions, and consistently threatening the lives of people he loved. now? they’re gone and their society is scrambling, but the people he loves are at least safe from their own organization and that’s what matters.
there’s this quote i’m sure everyone has heard, it’s used in practically every fandom to analyze characters.‘a hero will sacrifice the person they love to save the world, but a villain will sacrifice the world to save the person they love. - renee rocco’
in the case of gojo and getou, this quote fits pretty well with their characters and end game pretty well. i won’t assume much since I’m not well-versed into their dynamics as much as the second years
but toge and yuuta don’t fit so seamlessly into that dynamic. as your friend said, yuuta is kind because he wants to be treated kindly. yuuta is good, because that is the only way to protect the people around him. if jjk was reversed and gojo was the villain instead, i don’t think yuuta would have hesitated to follow him or do what he deemed necessary. in his case, he is neither hero nor villain, but he would sacrifice not the world, but whomever is necessary to ensure that the people he loves, his world, are happy. not even just safe, he needs them to be happy for him to be happy.
toge on the other hand, could never be labeled as a hero, simply because of what he is capable of. he isn’t a villain either though, because if he was, he would’ve been executed by now. he has the mentality of a hero, yet he could never sacrifice the ones he loves. his ability in itself is a testament to that. can you imagine how much pain he consistently is in to deliberately tear his throat apart? but he bleeds and suffers because why? no mentioned family, no prior friends, an outlaw of their society, the only one consistently sent alone on missions even in his first year, probably even before that. he builds a family, not intentionally, but because the kindness he has was the only thing to keep him moving all these years. learning to cook for the child who never received a warm meal at the table, it’s easy to see that reflected in the broken pieces of their class. he is kind because he was never treated kindly, it’s just as your friend said. he chooses to sacrifice himself because no one has ever chosen sacrifice for him. and to yuuta, who has had lives around him forcibly taken, who experienced being isolated and feared and hated. who toge was misunderstood by, time and time again. who, for the first time in his life, had someone willing to die for him, it must be so addicting. vice versa as well, for toge who has only known loneliness, who has only ever been sacrificed, to find someone willing to burn the world for him.
anyway that came out longer than intended lol. to the anon with the current ask in my inbox, i’m chipping away at it but it’s coming out pretty long as well and it is finals week :(( but feel free to keep sending asks !! i am totally not sane about them

Pit orphanes kaimaki's kid (kind of)
Hina: I had an AU where Kaito got really sick and knew he was gonna die so he recorded all these videos for his daughter before he passed and instructed Saiou to give them to her at different points of her life It was based on the elephant from inside out dying lmao He plans videos for moments that might not even happen He has several shovel talk videos And they differ based on his kids sexuality He made all these coming out videos of him being supportive
Beez: help the way i was about to say imagine he has a video prepped for when his daughter gets a bf but she turns out gay [sob emoji]
Sini: He went through his gay acceptance/understanding arc
Hina: Comforting after a breakup. “I know your partner broke your heart, and that sucks. I promise, I’ll haunt them for the rest of eternity, and I’m sure your uncle Kokichi will make their life a living hell.” Okay just Imagine He’s recording all these taps And there’s so many But you can see him slowly getting more run down as he does But he’s still smiling in all of them He wants his daughter to know just how much her dad loved her. He knows that Shuichi and Kokichi will take care of her But
Sini: IT'S NOT THE SAME He wanted to see his daughter grow up
Hina: Exactly That’s all he wanted, more than anything But he won’t be able to I headcanon he gets sick when she’s really young too So he doesn’t even know if she’ll remember him, and that’s another reason he wants to make these
Ves: there's a video of him apologizing in case she inherits his sickness
Hina: I think he has a video just labeled. “Give this to her when she’s ready” and it’s him explaining how he died This is gonna sound really stupid but he leaves his daughter these galaxy crocs and now she wears them all the time They’re a million times too big (Also his daughter having to do a project for school about her hero and she picks him)
Checkers: does he leave her The Jacket
Hina: Absolutely Also I imagine he tells Saiou not to watch the videos before she does. He wants her to be the first to see them And the first time they show her one and she’s just so excited, not really understanding As they realize exactly what they are
Sini: "Dada!" : D She reaches out
Ves: there's simple videos of him singing lullabies, reading stories, etc that she watches over and over as a little kid she knows his voice as well as anyone else's :')
Hina: Also just when she argues with Saiou, screaming about how they’re not her real dad.
Checkers: How old is she when she sees the first video? Hina: Probably 4-6 I don’t have an exact date for when Kaito dies but She’s around those ages
[me? coming in late and changing the flow of the conversation? more likely than you think]
Wh. What happened to her mom?
Hina: Great question. No idea skskskskks
Sini: I assumed Maki was the mom-
Hina: I wasn’t sure if it was Maki who just went MIA or what but Mom isn’t around
Ves: if mom isn't in the picture. wouldn't he have had to give up going to space? for her?
Hina: And he was 1000% ready to do it
Sini: She's his brightest star
Hina: Also when I said it was inspired by the elephant from inside out [sends gif of the elephant saying "Take her to the moon for me. Okay?"] That’s the quote I based this on
I don't want Maki to die in child birth so divorce it is, my default hc for her realizing she's a lesbian only after a longterm relationship with him not working out the way she thought it would Activated
Hina: Does she try to reach out to Maki later
I think Maki would just, loose the rights in court at first bc Kaito is better off and later be unavailable for some reason
She's broke bc the divorce goes thru as her fault and not an agreement so Kaito takes everything and then she moves to another country for work
Clown_Chaoticz: OHHH. If the reason over her leaving is along the lines of her having the realization it isn't the life she wants. It would be so cathartic for them to have a conversation later on that's just Maki explaining why she couldn't be her mom. It's not that she had done anything wrong, some people are just not cut out for that lifestyle. She wasn't. And she won't be. It's not the beginning of a new relationship between them. But its closure. I like that sorta thing
I didn't know how to put it but, yeah, I don't think she fought to get the weekends
Clown_Chaoticz: Does she keep in contact with saiou at least?? How is Maki even feeling at the moment?? Did they separate on civil terms? Did they fight over it? Does she even get to grieve the friendship she lost?? MAN
I think it's really bitter and messy bc the kid is 2 or under and Kaito just refused to do an agreement of any kind because of that
Hina: DAMN KAITO MADE A HOT MESS OF THE DIVORCE?
If she's leaving them, then she's leaving with nothing, if she's breaking apart their family then she doesn't deserve any time with their daughter, should have stayed if she wanted to see her regularly He'd believe in staying together for the kids, it's his traditional upbringing striking again
Clown_Chaoticz: OHHH I didn't even think about the traditional nuclear family dynamic he'd favor Yeah I could see that being a source of conflict Man everyone here is NOT having a good time
Checkers: does Maki even know Kaito’s dead
Clown_Chaoticz: MAN IF SHE AT LEAST HAD THE PIECE OF MIND THAT SHE WAS LEAVING THE KID WITH KAITO NOTHING CAN STOP HIM. SHE DOESN'T HAVE A DOUBT THAT HE'D COMPENSATE FOR HER ABSENCE TEN FOLD ONLY TO REALIZE HES DEAD
Ves: HER DAUGHTER IS BEING RAISED BY KOKICHI!? SHE LEAVES YOU FOOLS FOR TEN MINUTES
Checkers: Is she even allowed to visit her daughter
Hina: I think that Maki doesn’t meet their daughter again till she’s older
Ves: is the daughter angry or just tired
Hina: I think a little bit
Apollo: I think Kokichi would be hesitant to let her visit but after talking to Shuichi, they'll allow it
Sini: It's Maki, and given his possible trauma with being abandoned, probably even by his parents…..Yeah-
Apollo: Kokichi, having his own abandonment issues: I dunno Shuichi: Kaito would want them to at least meet once Kokichi: Ugh you're right…But I'm being in the room to make sure everything goes well. It's awkward but can you blame him? He has his own issues he's still working through plus he's never had the best relationship with Maki
Sini: And then she pulls something like that which makes it sm worse He sees her as hypocritical in a sense, cause an orphan like her should've known better to do that Kaito knowing that his death will inflict the same trauma on his daughter that his own parents' death did on him : D It adds more reason to why he's upset at Maki
Checkers: She really just inherited both her parents’ parental issues
Apollo: Plus she's being raised by two guys with their own issues regarding parents. That poor girl
Sini: I don't think she'd be good in any of the V3 cast's hands. They're all fucked She's inheriting some trauma
Clown_Chaoticz: Okay. Considering part of the reason Maki and Ouma don't get along in the first place is due to ✨️ projection ✨️, "I hate that I look you and see the worst of what I could be/have been" silly guys who both end up throwing the last thing they'd ever want done to them at each other. IMAGINE the bitter feeling that would come from watching someone like Ouma live comfortably in the life that for a while she thought she wanted. Why couldn't she have had the same peace he seems to? Why was she never to fit herself in a place like that? She wanted to be happy about it. Why couldn't she be?
Sini: YEAH! Girl was forced to be a caretaker in the orphanage she lived in. It was something she was expected to do since she was young, it became one of her ultimate talents. It's part of what defined her….How could she not acheive what was expected of her her whole life?
Ves: taking care of children was the only reason she kept living for so many years…why shouldn't it be the core of her life? why can't she make herself keep doing it? she doesn't know how to live for herself. beyond the parentification, who even is she? but…she doesn't HAVE to live like that anymore. no one's got a gun to her head anymore. so… i'd flee the country too honestly maki on her self discovery europe backpacking trip
Hina: Caring for kids and having your own are so different She just Doesn't know how to be a mother in that way To actually be seen as nurturing Also her having to grieve Kaitos passing But not knowing how
Checkers: I assume it’s been a few years between Kaito’s death and Maki finding out It’s been so long, how does she grieve? She doesn’t know, like she doesn’t know how to face her daughter after so many years apart does her daughter even remember her
Hina: Her daughter probably doesn't She was only two Kaito having a video about Maki He has a couple: "For when she asks about her mom" "If her mom comes back" "If she wants to find her mom"
Checkers: I just had an awful thought Is there a video for in case Shuichi/Kokichi dies
Hina: Oh no He probably has one Wait imagine Something happens to either Shuichi or Kokichi And she just becomes terrified
Apollo: NOOOOOO SHE'S LOST HER DAD, SHE'S ONLY JUST SORTA RECONNECTED WITH HER MUM AND NOW ONE OF HER UNCLES IS HURT/DEAD
Hina: Just If something happened to one of them and she was ready to drop everything for them instead of Maki
Apollo: Maki doesn't know how to feel cause on one hand, she deserves it. She hasn't been in her life at all but on the other hand…It's Kokichi because despite how much of a help he's been in replacing her raising her daughter, a part of her still can't get over what he was like when they were younger
Checkers: I think it’d make for an interesting dynamic too if Shuichi was the one hurt, because Maki would see how capable Kokichi is with her daughter even under that much stress
Apollo: Like part of her still thinks Kokichi won't take things seriously but he seriously steps up and she has to admit he's changed from the brat he was Like she forgets that he's a LEADER It drives her nuts but she has to thank him
Hina: Maki has to deal with the fact that her only blood related family, likes her mortal enemy more than her That. Kaito would sooner trust their daughter with Kokichi Ouma than her
Apollo: It just…Hurts in a way she can't describe. She knows she left and all. She's not surprised Kaito trusted Shuichi but Kokichi? Was she really gone for that long that she missed him changing? Or was she too blind to see that he wasn't as horrible as she thought he was?
Sini: Love Maki realizing that she had Kokichi wrong the whole time And Kokichi in turn coming to terms with how complex Maki is
Hina: I'm just thinking about the idea of Saiou showing these videos to their daughter and when she first meets Maki she's just like. "You were absent my whole life, I know my dad more than I know you." And the fact she knows Kaito better when he was gone when she was an infant just
I'll give my idea for what could happen before someone else makes it angstier than it has to be: Shuichi gets shot while working on a case, so they rush to the hospital without knowing any details, but it's just a scare and he's mostly fine, going to have a cool scar, the bullet is already removed by the time they get there, it didn't hit anything vital and he's stable

every time I see a mileage fan say bylers hate eleven because we want byler to happen, and accuse us of misogyny, i just like lose brain cells?? like will literally had feelings for mike before el even entered the picture - this is CONFIRMED NOW?????? so how is it okay for El to date her brother’s life-long crush in this scenario? See? This argument has no logic to it because they only became siblings 8 months ago, and both of their dynamics with Mike were already ESTABLISHED before they became siblings. Neither of them should be restricted by the brother/sister labels in regards to Mike. It’s such a stupid argument. It is also so clear that Will does not want to hurt either of them and just wants them both to be happy??? CLEARLY, Mike also very much cares about El, and El cares about Mike and Will very much; and MIKE CARES ABOUT THEM VERY MUCH. Literally, no Byler wants El to be miserable and alone? Like, literally this argument just pisses me off more than anything. It’s misogynistic to imply that El is going to be miserable without Mike and needs his romantic love when she will literally be fine without his romantic love - like just because we think this doesn’t imply we want her to be alone and broken up with? Like, in fact, I WANT EL TO BREAK UP WITH MIKE! I think that would be the perfect outcome and I honestly could see it going that way.
Their relationship is so on the rocks. Mike obviously cares about her DEEPLY but they do not work together on a romantic level. We have seen this fall out twice now. El has proven to find her history/relatives (s2), identity (s3), and strength (s4) without Mike in any of these storylines lmfao. There is more to life than STUPID BOYS!!! like i don’t understand how disliking m*levens relationship and supporting Byler = wanting El to be miserable and unhappy like that’s so fucking misogynistic to think, tbh. Like she can be happy without a stupid boy because there is more to life than stupid boys.
El does deserve to be happy, but you know what’s not going to make her happy? Continuing to be called a SUPERHERO and idolized when the truth is, she cannot save everyone. Mike calling her a super hero and her failing to save 20+ people, Max being in a coma (unknown to wake up/unable to find her), probably made her feel even WORSE about losing because superheroes do not lose.
Also, literally El chooses her father as her HERO and Will chooses Alan Turning. Neither of these people were chosen for romantic reasons lol, and even in DC/MARVEL, none of the superhero/civilian relationships are played out this way.
Mike obviously cares deeply for her, and loves her, but the way in which he loves her is not the kind of love that she wants from him. Season 4 proves their relationship just doesn’t work, and wanting more for El than Mike does not make us “misogynistic”, sorry.

How would you feel if Arthur and Mera had different parenting styles for Garth?
Let’s say Mera ironically understands the severity of Garth situation of being labeled as a Curse/abomination more than Arthur. So Mera tries to teach him to be self reliant, to not trust anyone/always assume people don’t have good intentions for you, etc. also since she was an assassin maybe it’d be interesting if she was the one who teaches him how to fight and use hydrokenisis. She could also be very blunt but at the same worrying about him a lot and being a helicopter parent.
While Arthur is the complete opposite where he believes if Garth continues being noble and trying to appeal to the people of Atlantis by being a hero and putting himself out there i.e Atlantean noble events and socializing with people, etc, more people will to learn to accept him and he tries to give him a if you want respect you gotta earn it type of mentality.
I feel like there would be some good drama and conflict that way. With both ways having positives and negatives that makes Garth more conflicted on the type of man he wants to be.
What do you think would be an interesting way for Mera and Arthur to raise Garth?
I think if you flip it and reverse it, that is pretty much how Garth was “raised” by Arthur and Mera.
I think it’s significant that Arthur teaches Garth to fight because Garth’s identify is Aqualad first, person second for a lot of his life. Arthur is basically a laid back bachelor when he finds an already pretty self-reliant kid in the middle of the ocean, so fighting together and just vibing is how they bond. It’s also the reason that Arthur acts more like a brother/friend than a father, although Garth certainly is projecting the desire for parents onto him.
My preferred Arthur backstory is the fully Atlantean one, and that Arthur has a chip on his shoulder regarding Atlantis. If anyone is going to be like “take care of yourself” it’s him.
Both Arthur and Mera understand being an outcast (it’s the common thread between all characters tbh) because Mera, in the canon where she knew Garth as a child, isn’t even from their dimension. She’s a princess from Dimension Aqua (aka Xebel, the retcon name) and is actually super isolated from her previous world. But she very much is a proper princess and Garth very much seems to think of her as a mother to him. It’s interesting because the Mera we know now in canon isn’t very similar to her older counterpart. The Mera that did live in the palace with Garth in silver/Bronze Age is actually very motherly and domestic, but not “feisty” like current Mera is. If anyone is going to say “let’s be polite and maybe they’ll like you more,” it’s Mera.
I also prefer hard water being a trait Garth doesn’t have. It’s weird that they keep giving him that power, I think it takes away from Mera who only had it because she wasn’t even from Earth. TT cartoon owes me damages from their portrayal of Garth with hard water powers.
I don’t think either of them saw Garth as their son. I think he occupied the “kid brother” role for both of them, and when Mera had her own baby he was shifted into uncle/babysitter real quick. Garth very much considered them his parents (until Aquababy died, at least) and you can see his loyalty to Mera stick around even though the 90s/2000s.

Just a quick thought on some MHA stuff.
Some people are saying Toshinori is a ‘bad babysitter’ for Eri while Aizawa and Mic are out fighting in the war arc. Because he’s keeping himself informed and watching the news and Eri is right next to him watching as well.
At first I was kind of shocked about it too but then I thought about it more and honestly it’s not such a big deal I think. Yeah she’s only six; but she’s probably a very mature six year old due to all the trauma she’s been through. She’s no stranger to struggle and villainy and knowing this stuff is happening in the world.
Also every able body person has been called in to help. Mirio, Deku, Mic, Aizawa, all of class 1-A. All the people she cares about and who care about her. What is he to tell her? Lie to her? Tell her they went on some sort of field trip? A grocery store run? And when or if some of them never make it back or there are parts of them missing, then what??? She’d want to know how everyone is doing even if it’s scary. As long as they are alive, seeing them give their very best. Knowing everything they sacrifice to protect the people. The full weight and realization of what heroes do.
Watch them Eri before considering becoming a hero yourself in your future if you ever decide that is the path you want.
Besides Toshi wants to stay in formed, as a citizen of the nation under attack he should. Maybe Eri doesn’t really like being alone. She’s been alone long enough. She’s rarely shown doing anything by herself no matter what it is. Someone, be it Aizawa, Mirio, or the kids from 1-A are always around. So even if she very much had the option to be alone and color while listening to music or playing with toys, she’d rather choose to be next to Toshinori while he worries and stresses about what is being reported on the tv. Maybe more for his comfort than her own. Or maybe for both their comforts.
Just imagine:
someone, whoever the high and mighty ‘I can watch children better’ try hard person coming in there accusing him of being so wrong for letting her watch the news of the war with him.
How *dare* he further ruin this child’s childhood by taking away her ignorant bliss of what is going on! What made him think this was okay!? She’s only six! And she’s already been through so much! Didn’t he see anything wrong with letting a six year old watch this violence!?
Cut to Toshinori having a very repressed but vivid memory spark up behind his eyes about when he had been Eri’s age. The government and people literally at war with everyone. Trying to control or accept quirks. People were mistreating others everywhere you turn. If you had a quirk you were a freak. No one could trust you. Almost instantly labeled as a bad person. But if you didn’t have a quirk you were weak. A ‘dying breed’. The government was too busy trying to control peoples powers and putting regulations on them they neglected to stop the social stigma and discourse in the schools, streets, and even in homes. The constant out breaks of attacks. The people caught in the cross fire. The despair he saw from both sides. And god knows whatever happened to his parents that left him replacing them with Nana and (somewhat) Torino.
He blinks away the memory and says, “No. I don’t see anything wrong with keeping her safe, loved, and informed about her new family and friends. No one did that for me when I was six.” Then he promptly leaves to silently shed a few tears and feel bad about letting Eri watch it anyway. Just a little bit at least. Because he couldn’t do anything to make it better, it’s all out of his hands now. 🥲

24. How do they present themselves socially? What distinguishes their “persona” from their “true self”, and what causes that difference?
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT QUESTIONS.
well, there is two sides to izuku— maybe even three? so i’m glad you sent in this specific prompt so i can ramble about it!!
so, the first one is, of course, usagi. usagi is, in the most part, made up of what you would usually expect of a villain, such as certain lack of respect for the law, abiding by your own rules and morality, putting your own goal above everything else including the how you’re going to reach it— the classic case of the end justifies the means. but there’s other parts, too; ones that are not the first thing that comes to mind when someone says the word villain. he tells jokes, and quite often, actually, some on the expense of his opponents, some not. and speaking of rivals, he likes to tease them to throw them off balance, and he does whatever seems to work best on the person he’s facing; and he tends to be mean. he has empty eyes, too; as if somewhere deep down, he’s already lost hope for whatever he’s doing. and maybe he realizes that; or maybe he doesn’t.
then, we remove the villain’s mask, and we have izuku, and this is how he behaves and presents himself in ‘civilian’ settings. that’s just your regular person you pass on the street, smiling when he has a good day and frowning when he doesn’t. he’s the person who still buys comic books, takes care of his pet, and easily makes friends. he probably seems like a bit of a nerd, with his technobabble, but he’s that nice kind of a nerd, that you don’t really mind having around.
and though izuku is close to what’s really in izuku’s heart, both him and usagi are just roles. parts he plays when he has to. because underneath all that is real izuku, who, while embodying both persona’s traits (because they are him — just different parts of him, that he isolated and contained under certain labels to get by), is what his disappointment left, and what everything else grew on. sure, he still smiles. he still makes jokes, still takes hero notes and looks back on his childhood with some warm sense of sentiment — he hasn’t lost all his positive qualities, and he’s far from it — but there’s also this underlying sadness, the feeling of not belonging; being more empty than full, and alone. this is the part that picked himself up and found a new goal in life, and the very same one that led a blade along his arms numerous times. the same one whose eyes still shine bright, and who has a genuine laugh, yet the same one that doesn’t really believe in good all that much anymore.
usagi is a role. izuku is something in between a role and a glimpse into who he used to be and partially still is. and real izuku is... just that. real izuku. your usual, real human being. it’s just that different people may only see one of those faces, while some may see more — it just depends on the person, really.

The story creates the story tells itself. That's it, that's what this is, it's the thing I always end up saying when Critical Role hits me right in the solar plexus, because stories are how we make sense of events after they've already happened. The story is not a thing in the moment it is created, it is a thing you can only know the shape of once it's over with, and then you look at it and you say, yes, of COURSE, it only ever could have been this from the first, couldn't it?
Seven miserable loners and outcasts and reckless illegitimate rebels meet in a tavern with no desire whatsoever for heroism. Their morals are quickfire and slapdash, casual and arbitrary, we'll help out these people, those people aren't our problem, we dislike those fucks over there. There is a war brewing and they want nothing to do with it. Fuck fame, fuck fortune, we'll keep to ourselves and play fast and loose with crime and take care of our own and maybe some lucky randoms we meet along the way. We'll fight and scrap and tussle amongst ourselves because none of us even entirely understand our own morals, let alone how to reconcile them with any of these other half-assed motherfuckers we apparently have to care about now.
They fuck up. One of their own dies.
They drown in rage and fury for just long enough, until they can stop gasping and growling for vengeance to take a breath. Then they run.
They run, because they do not care to stand and fight: not against evil or dragons or tyrant kings, not against their own grief. They flee the country. Nobody is chasing them, but they flee anyway, to avoid shackles, to avoid control, to avoid being set to anyone else's purpose, to avoid their own loss and their own sins. They run to the sea. (They find danger, and shackles, and control, and somebody else's purpose there again. The world is full of shackles and those who would wield them.)
They grieve. They avoid their grief. They sanctify their fallen comrade. They do not aim to be anything, this ragtag group of miserable loners and outcasts. The only thing they know themselves to be is each other's. They do not know themselves at all, but this grief, this loss--they know it, at least, know it together, an iron band binding them all heart to heart. It is the first truth they have to hold on to, the thing that lets them see each other as the only thing that matters, the only thing that's really real.
They face down a cult and win, because the other option is shackles or death. They face a demigod and flee, again, again, again. Always they flee.
They flee towards home and home is burned. They have seen loss and they have seen death and it finds them no matter how they run away, so maybe it's time to change direction. Maybe it's time to run towards. It's still running, still half-mindless directionality, it's still familiar. They are not heroes, they are not somebodies, they have never wanted to be somebody. This group has never wanted to be anybody, not as a group, not when they're whole. They're nobodies, trying to take care of themselves, take care of their own, to grow past their grief that they pretend they're gone from now, mostly, most days, when they can. (Pretend it's not the grief that made them each other's in the first place, like none of the fighting and scrapping and scrabbling along beside one another ever had in the first place.)
They bulldoze and trip and stumble and run towards instead of away, for once, just this once, the very first time they've run towards a thing since that last time, the only time, when they temporarily lost three of their own and then broke themselves trying to chase them (trying to chase vengeance). Towards is so much more dangerous than away. Run towards something hard enough, you might actually find it. You might have to become somebody when you get there, instead of just not-being somebody else.
They're somebody now. This rag-tag, broken, mismatched knot of nobodies, not even mercenaries because they're too skittish to even really look for paid work, they're somebodies now, or so Someone Important says. It fits like an ill-tailored coat that they've been forced into without ever making a choice. Without ever realizing, entirely, how much they never made a choice. The world said congrats, you're heroes now, and these killers and thieves went, well, fuck.
And then they tried to be heroes anyway. Not because it fit, not because they knew what to do, but because the mess of them, the seven of them, barely knew who they were to begin with. If the world was shouting HEROES! YOU'RE HEROES! BE HEROES! at them this very loudly--then don't they have to wear the coat that's being given to them? Don't they have to be, have to find some way to become, the heroes they've tripped and stumbled into appearing?
They don't know themselves. All they've done so far is run from themselves--from parents and children and their own crimes, from chains and challenges, limits and labels. They only barely know who they're not. They couldn't know who they are. How do they know they aren't heroes? The one thing they know, the only thing they have, the only thing they've ever run towards, is each other. The one thing they know for absolute sure and certain that defines and binds them is that steel band of grief, that first loss, the thing that broke and forged them to begin with.
So they look for answers in their grief, in what they've lost, because if it's the first true thing about them as a group, them as a whole, then it must be able to tell them who they have to be now. They sanctify their fallen, twist meaning and moral out of conversational confrontational casualness, make a mission statement out of leave every place better than you found it. They forget who he was, petty and venal and mortal and flawed. (They try to convince themselves that they don't have to be petty and venal and mortal and flawed.) They cling to what he meant.
And they fail. God, looking back on it all, with the shape of the story and the shape it's become, is it any wonder they failed? Petty and venal and moral and flawed, these rough-edged rabble-rousers, not even mercenaries because they don't even know how to take orders besides their own. Trying to be heroes. Trying to stop a war, because that's their job, right? It has to be. That's the shape of the coat they're trying to wear, that's the shape of leave every place better than you found it, that's the thing they crashed straight into while they were running, running, running the way they've always run, run, run. So they look for answers everywhere, because they have to have the answers to everything, and they scry and they spy and they play sides. They meet with queens. They turn to each other on the streets on the way out of the palace and ask in horror, "What did we just do?"
They run and they run and they trip and they fall and they unleash more evil than there was to start with. They lose one of their own, again. They sit in shattered shards, and what just happened? How could we have seen this coming? What did we just do?
They don't know themselves. They've been running from themselves, trying to run towards misty shapes they can't define in a too-big coat and too-small shoes, without any real practice in running towards to begin with. They don't know themselves, but they need to move forwards. They need to be whole again, the six, the seven (the eight, the nein). How can they do that if they don't know themselves?
And--finally, finally, they learn.
They learn. They throw a sword in a volcano and forge a sword anew. They rediscover their own mind, their own heart, covered in blood with each other's blood on their hands. They walk into their abusers' homes and then walk back out again alive and un-alone and unchained. They recover bodies. They recover families. They find themselves.
(And the selves they find are mortal and flawed, because they have always been mortal and flawed, because they are built to be mortal and flawed, because they are still the same misbegotten messes they have ever been. But they are stronger for having sought themselves out, for what they have found. They are the stronger for those threads of heroism they tried to, managed to keep.)
They stop a war, incidentally. In the end it's not even all that much due to them. They sit, nobodies on a ship in the middle of the ocean, and watch in silence. It chafes a little, not to be in the center of things, to be able to be the heroes it felt like the world told them they had to be. (It feels a little like relief.)
They find themselves. They find themselves, and they find another lost and broken man, miserable outcast loner, petty and venal and mortal and flawed. They only start to realize how they know themselves now when they see how much he doesn't.
(The peace treaty happens, happened, is/was/will be happening, because they tripped and trembled and tried their way into it, but in the end a thousand chess pieces moved to make it so, and it is signed on a boat where we do not even set foot. The culmination, the crowning glory, the true victory of that whole middle story, is a perfectly-dressed man in chains in the hold of a boat, admitting to his own sins. It is secret and it is individual, and it is the concrete proof above all proofs that our nobody unknowns are finally their own very-known selves. Because they were Essek, once--but know they know their own mirrors well enough to look at him and recognize that.)
They know so much, now, about who they are and who they are to become. They have looked at their pasts and, yes, flinched away, but they've seen, and they know, now, as much as they can handle. In the end, the one thing they don't know the true shape of, the one thing left to seek that must be sought, is of course (of course, of course) that very first thing they thought they knew to begin with. The one thing left to face is their grief. The one thing left to discover is what shaped it from the very start.
So they run, like they have always run. In amongst the snow it is the very distillation of running, towards and away, away and towards, chasing and fleeing and fleeing and chasing, are we in front or are they? It's every mistake they ever made all over again. It's every new lesson they've ever learned.
They don't ask any more, what's the right thing to do. They don't need to ask. They know, already, swift and sure and confident as they once stumbled and dodged. This is a thing that must be stopped. It is ours to stop it. Yes, it is a heavy, clumsy coat to wear, but it fits us out here in the snows where we're not trying to prove our heroism to anybody any more, for good or for evil. Yes, it weighs on our backs and tangles our legs, but it fits as well as any role we've ever tried to wear. It fits us more than it could ever fit anybody else. It's our role. It's our coat. It was forged of our choices, our pieces, our fights. It was forged of our grief.
Nobody else is here with us, to watch, to know. Just like when we were seven shiftless, aimless, worthless nobodies wandering through a circus tent on the way to nowhere (everywhere) else. There's us and the demon born from our grief, the demon who sprang up and died and is the only reason we any of us ever met. Just us, just the nine of us, three and three and three. The three who were dragged off in chains and gave us something to run towards, that very first time. The three who chased, and watched their companion fall, and faced their grief head on, and ran. And Lucien, and Caduceus, and Essek, beginning and middle and end: The man whose demise allowed us to come together, reborn from the loss that bound us. The man who found us and told us that grief is inevitable and passing, that we must continue with it, that we still had such a long way to go. The man who we found like a reflection in an aging mirror, reflecting our own progress back at us, showing us how far we've come and what we've learned how to be.
Of course it had to end this way. (There were so very many other ways it could have ended, once. Of course there were none at all.) Of course it would be nine and nine in the end. Of course it would be this final perfect marriage of heroism and anonymity, for this group that's finally figured out their selves, past and future and right-the-fuck-now, saviors and heroes and petty nobody fucks. Of course it would be this.
And of course, of course, of course it had to go like this. Of course, after everything, the first six of them would try to reverse that grief that forged and tied them. Of course they couldn't. Of course they couldn't, of course, of course--(and was it fate, that 1-in-20 chance, that 5% chance, that 1 on a die? was it fate like the dice are always fate in every game, rolling out poetry with every throw, because all the rolls that aren't quite poetic enough get forgotten?) Of course it was a 1, not some other number, not some sheepish failure of a 4. Of course the universe itself would speak to say no.
No, says the universe, that is not how this story goes--because the road is full of shattered shards, and our heroes only learned to be heroes by discovering how bloodily bad at it they were, by nearly causing the apocalypse before wrestling it back again. Of course the universe itself says that after all this time, after changing so far and discovering so much, this the inciting thing from the very beginning that bound this group in steel must not be changed. Of course, with all their pleas, the six people who knew him cannot bring him back.
Of course that's how the story would go. And of course there's Essek, the man who met this party so long after their throes of mourning that it had sunk into their bones and grown quiet before they ever knew him, who cannot accept this outcome. Of course it's Essek, who never met and has barely heard of this man, this grief--Essek who has not yet grown into the quiet acceptance of his own grief, who does not yet know his own mirror, who has only just barely begun to understand running to instead of from and still doesn't know the shape of what he might eventually choose to chase--who seethes in rage. Who cries about not fair.
Of course it's Caduceus who takes the inspiration of that anger, that grief, and changes it all. Of course it's Caduceus, who the group only even found out of their grief. (They tracked him down to beg to know if he could raise the dead in the first place. Do you remember? One, two, three, Caleb and Beau and Nott, finding him in his graveyard to beg him to help.) Of course it's Caduceus, created to serve and to heal and to make so, so very sure that everyone understood that death could be necessary and final. Of course it's Caduceus, who stood over Mollymauk's grave by the roadside and put a hand in the dirt and cast decompose, because what is dead should be allowed to stay that way until it grows into something else. Of course it is. Because Caduceus has learned his own shape by now, too--and it is still full of devotion, of dedication to the dead remaining dead, but it is steadfast and selfish sometimes too, forged in friendship, full enough of love to try, just this once.
Of course Caduceus gave the diamond but didn't try to perform the ritual, at first, at first. Of course he's spent so very long so very gently urging his friends to reconcile themselves to their loss, to letting their loved one sleep. Of course, in the end, in the very end, he weighed all his faith that once held so firm and final and without exceptions, with this grief before him, and found just this once, maybe, within it.
Of course when he tried, the man who lives to put things in the ground (to put Molly in the ground), even after the fates and the gods and the universe had spoken--when, just this once, against the will of the natural order and the universe and the power of destiny, he asked, just once, for the path of things to reverse--of course. Of course he was the voice that needed to speak for the story to listen.
Of course Molly would end the campaign. Of course this had to be the finale of it all. Of course this ritual--not this fight, not this mission, not even this apocalypse, but this ritual, this resurrection--must be the end of things. Of course it's the end of the story. You can't go any farther than this.
There can never be nine of us. It won't be ironic any more. But irony, after all, is just a way of running from sincerity, sometimes running away from sincerity so hard and fast you crash back into it from the other side. Like running from being a person, from being that person, from letting things matter, from mattering. Like running so far and fast from being found that eventually you have no choice but to find yourself. Irony's a shield against having to know the truth.
There's nine of them. It's not ironic. It's perfect, but it's not ironic. It's just the truth. They know who they are, now. Not who they were running away from being. Not who they tried to be for the sake of anyone else. Who they always are. Always were.
This story could have been a hundred thousand different things, when it started. Of course it was always fated to end with nine.

It's not like Eren had been doing a lot of soul-searching. He's not delusional enough to label his half-assed epiphany of "maybe I'm a shitty person" as soul searching.
It's just the conversation with his very sick mother burned holes through the back of his mind. Carla had asked about you and why you don't come by the house anymore. How she missed baking with you in the kitchen, and how you sweetly smiled whenever you would see soft creamy peaks form in the meringue.
Eren felt like he was swallowing needles as he assured his mother with false truths, that nothing was going on and distance between childhood friends is natural, and if it means so much--ok ok he'll bring you over.
He stays until he sees her chest slowly rising and falling into a gentle asleep. He touches the tip of his ears, unsurprised by how hot it was.
Eren, when you tell a lie, the tips of your ears turn red.
You're not at school the next day. Or the day after that. Or the day after that.
Guilt is not an emotion he feels often but the events of the past weekend replay in his mind. It was just a dumb party that Floch threw, and he was surprised to find you cornered by a trio of thee dunderheads. Like a distorted fairytale, he swept you away from the bad guys like a knight in shining armor, to only shove you in an empty room and demand compensation for playing hero.
Fuck, with that big mouth, you would think that you'd know how to suck cock.
Use your tongue stupid slut. If you use teeth, I'll shove this dick in your ass without any prep.
No, I don't care, you're taking all of it.
There's a video on his camera roll. How could he not record it? You're sobbing, mascara running down your cheeks, looking so beautiful and ruined with jizz smeared at the corner of your mouth. He was brutally fucking your mouth, making you take all of his length.
Breathe through your nose dumb whore. Or else you're gonna run out of air.
You were pleading with whatever garbled sounds you were constricted into producing.
Breathe through your fucking nose. This is for your sake. Otherwise, I don't mind face fucking your lifeless body. You'd be more useful that way anyways.
Eren is conflicted with muting the video because he can't stand to hear himself like that. But he didn't want to miss out on your pitiful whines.
He remembers the distraught expression on your face when he was finally done with you. He tucked himself inside, and sneered, "I've got a girl coming here. Get lost." You looked so fucking distraught. Why? All he did was make you suck his dick. He didn't even fuck you.
He should have. Eren thinks grimly when he stares at your empty desk on the first day you didn't show up to school. He's gotten off to the video more than enough times than he can count over the weekend, and he was aching to see your pretty face twisted into a terrorized expression when he flipped up your skirt to grope your ass.
Kindly, Eren decides he'd allow you to have a rest day. But the second day, Eren pays a visit to your house finding it dark and locked, like no one was home and hadn't been there for a while.
On the third day, you're declared missing.
Your incompetent workaholic mother who finally came home and decided to give a damn reported you missing to the authorities who had scratched their heads because as far as they knew, the pivotal 72 hours were up.
Paradis was surrounded by forests. No one wanted to say it, but they were all thinking it. If you got lost in there, chances are you wouldn't make it out.
Eren wasn't always this admired and fawned over. He had his fair share of behavioral issues that frightened people (not you though, not then at least, not when you were children, and you still came back every day to play).
But when he channeled that anger into sports, there was somewhat of a star in the making, especially for some small-town boy. He was becoming extremely popular, and that's nice and all, but at the end of the day, he has a mother whose health was taking a sharp decline. He was constantly under stress, stress that he took out on you.
Where did his favorite stress-ball go?
It's all fucking surreal. Having detectives in the school. Not that there were many students to question (because christ, did you even have any friends after Eren turned everyone against you?).
Eren was questioned. He can't help but mirthfully chuckle. Maybe this was your grand plan, maybe you were able to finally sort out a mountain of evidence against him. If you were going to fuck him over, didn't you want to see it happen with your own two eyes?
The dark-haired boy wishes that was true. If you had gotten your revenge, would you be here? No, revenge isn't the right word. If you got any justice for what he made you suffer, would you come back?
Hi, I'm Detective Hange. I would like to ask you some questions today. You're Eren Yeager, right?
Yes, that's me.
How do you know ___?
We were childhood friends. We're uh, we're not as close anymore.
When was the last time you saw her?
Friday night at Floch's party-
-Floch Forster right? There were a number of kids there from your school.
Yeah. It was a big party. She uh, doesn't usually come to parties but she was there that night.
You were the last person to be seen with her. Other kids have said that they saw you and her entering a room together, and then only her leaving the said room.
[Sigh] Yeah we sorta...hooked up.
I thought you said you guys weren't close anymore.
You can be not close to someone and still hook up with them.
But you guys were close once right?
Yeah. Once.
The dark-haired boy asks if he was under any suspicion. The detective waves their hand in a dismissive gesture, “If her diary tells us anything, it’s only that she really liked you.”
Were detectives even allowed to divulge that sort of information? Eren doesn’t know but the stray detail that they offered off-handedly made him feel like he was swallowing needles.
At that point, Eren honestly still doesn't believe you're gone. You had a habit of running away, even when you were little kids, but you always came back.
Still, he participates in the search parties with a renewed vigor, even going alone in the forest with a flashlight on most nights.
And he's just so fucking tired. The darkest crevice of his mind almost wishes you were dead because this ignorance was just agony. Almost. Because he still clings to the feeling that one day, he’ll stroll into class and find you in your seat in the back of the class, looking out the window like some cliche shojo manga protagonist.
There are folders and folders on his phone. Albums. The most recent one is dedicated to your crying face as you were choking on his dick. Earlier albums are composed of creepshots of your panties, of that obscene o-face, of your skirt flipped up and your ass cheeks, pictures of your cleavage, videos of you thrashing as he dunked your head into toilets like a villainous middle school bully.
Pictures of your neck covered in hickeys, your naked breasts, ass cheeks striped with red after getting spanked, your leaking cunt, just endless and endless media dedicated to pieces and pieces of your body like you were never a whole person.
The earliest ones though tell a different tale, from off-guards to your drooling face as you napped in the middle of the day.
He has a favorite picture. Your eyes are watery from the cold, snowflakes stuck between lashes, nose and cheeks flushed red, and you're smiling. Smiling right to the camera. Right at him.
"Eren, are you taking a picture?" You asked, bouncing in place, giddy that it was finally snowing.
"Not of you, shut up. Get out of the way." His voice is gruff but not harsh.
You laughed and jumped into frame anyway, and the bright streetlamp behind you made you seem like you were wearing a halo.
He wishes he had more pictures of you being...yourself. Because now your crying face displayed over countless pixels haunt him. But like a fucking degenerate, he still jerks off to all the nudes he coerced from you. Sometimes he cries when he's jerking off which is probably the most pathetic thing he's ever done. This is what you've reduced him to.
He hates the sound of his own voice.
Breathe through your fucking nose. This is for your sake. Otherwise, I don't mind face fucking your lifeless body. You'd be more useful that way anyways.
Eren goes through the motions of life without really feeling like he's in the moment. Seasons change and time flies. His mother dies, and his withdrawn father dies a year later. He proposes to Mikasa because it's something he was always supposed to do. She loves him unconditionally, so even when he doesn't put any effort into the relationship but proposes, she says yes hoping he'll change and be a good husband.
He doesn't go to his parents' funerals because they're already dead. What's the point. He doesn't visit the candlelight vigils in your honor either. After tearing his ACL again and a somewhat traumatic injury, he kisses his pro-football career goodbye. To be totally honest, he's relieved. Because he had gotten quite bored, and maybe he was looking for excuses to quit the entire time. It's not like you'd be cheering on the bleachers anyways.
Mikasa has an affair, more out of a desire to see her fiancé feel something for her as opposed to any burning lust. But when she asks him if he's ever cared at all, with tears springing out of her eyes, he's just calmly drinking his fifth of whisky.
The dark-haired man doesn't even look up, "Let's break up."
"Is this about her, huh? Fucking get over it already Eren. She's GONE. And you have some big fucking audacity moping about her death like you weren't making her cry in the bathroom stalls every fucking day you piece of shit."
"Get out."
"You know what, I bet she killed herse-"
SMASH
The dark-haired woman doesn't finish her rant because the whiskey bottle smashes on the wall next to her head, sending glass everywhere and staining the carpet amber. She's unharmed, knowing it wasn't Eren's intention to hit her but Jesus Christ, what a monster.
She packs her bags and leaves the town like she should have a long time ago. All her friends had left years before and she stayed behind because that's where Eren was. She thanks her lucky stars that they didn't marry.
It's funny because he had always imagined himself being the first to move out of their small town, but he's the one staying. He can't leave this place. feels too tethered to ever leave. Every diner and liquor store is saturated with memories of you. He remembers buying cigarettes and exhaling the smoke to your face to piss you off in empty parking lots.
Maybe he stays in case you'll come back.
Eren's days consist of alcohol-fueled hazes. He doesn't know how his liver is still functioning. He doesn't know he's still alive after crashing his car into a tree when he was drunk out of his mind. He was on his way to get some more vodka.
He barely recognizes himself in the mirror anymore, not that he looks at himself much. His hair is long, nestled around his shoulder because he couldn't be bothered to cut it, dark circles under viridian eyes, and a perpetual stubble on his jaw.
His parents had left quite a sizable inheritance so there's no need to work but he's good with his hands. Likes crafting up birdhouses and cabinets, and occasionally does odd jobs around the neighborhood, never charging the elderly.
He's under the sink, tinkering with a wrench against the pipes when he hears the old lady coo at him.
"We're so lucky to have you Eren. I'm surprised a handsome young man like yourself doesn't have a special lady. The girls must be lining up at your door!"
The dark-haired man winces, and offers no comment, knowing that that the older lady was susceptible to long tangents.
"You know, we're getting a new neighbor." Eren grunts as a response. "They're young, I've heard. Isn't that exciting? Oh my, Eren! I think they're gonna be living in the house right next to yours..."
He tunes out the rest of the conversation because doesn't really care. He just hopes his new neighbors are quiet.
It's Sunday noon when obnoxious noises of moving trucks and people wake him up from his deep slumber. Eren's annoyed to wake up despite the fact he's probably been sleeping over 15 hours. He oscillates between getting too much sleep and getting none, his sleeping habits completely dependent on his dreams.
His nightmares are too visceral, visions of your corpse asking him if he'd enjoyed hollowing your soul with his teeth.
His dreams are achingly sweet. You in your prom gown, shining so iridescently like diamonds were sewn into the silk. He's dancing with you, holding you close, and then after you guys go to your favorite diner and gorge on burgers and milkshakes.
There's a peal of distinctly feminine laughter that stirs up Eren's senses. He's so pathetic, was the mere sound of a woman laughing getting him excited?
He sighs. He thinks of the whore he's frequently visited because of her resemblance to you. Hair color, skin color, face shape--with enough alcohol, he could really convince the person beneath him, was you. Maybe it's time to give her a call, but she's gotten so fucking needy and he hated how her voice didn't match yours.
The green-eyed man peers from the lace curtains, irritated by the brats playing on his lawn. A full family next door? Great, just what he needs.
The friendly knock on his door breaks him out of his daze. He contemplates whether he should answer but on the second more muted knock, he lets his feet guide him.
He turns the knob.
And Eren Yeager completely shatters.
Because it's you isn't it? You're the person standing in front of him? He can hear what you're saying but he doesn't really register it, soaking in the cadence of a voice he had long forgotten because all he had were pleading whimpers and frenzied moans stored on his cell.
He's shaking. Is he dreaming? He's dreaming, right? He knows it's you. You're older, far more beautiful than he's ever seen you. You have a different hairstyle, wearing clothes he would have mocked you for, and there's this joyfulness within you that makes you glow.
There's a mess of emotions electrifying in the pits of his stomach from euphoria, anger, and dread. He could feel his skin growing clammy like he was about to vomit at any second.
"Hey, are you all right?"
Doe eyes full of concern peer up at him. He voices out the syllables of your name like a desperate prayer.
You tilt your head to the side, "How do you know my name?"

I make it kinda weird, but we don’t talk about it enough. Insecure!Bakugo.
-
He’s not like, insecure insecure… he knows he’s one of the best damn heroes out there, but he’s also not an idiot when it comes to things like dating, personal relations and overzealous fangirls…
Bakugo has just had one too many bad run-ins with people who think that, “deep down,” he’s different than the man they see on TV. Yeah, he’s been in a couple serious relationships, he’s even fucked a handful of people… but everything always ends up the same: with them crying about how he’s mean and overconfident, and that they thought actually being with him would be different.
(Not to mention, it really does start to weigh on him seeing Kirishima and Deku with someone new on their arms every single week.)
Insecure!Bakugo is slow to affection. And he’s pretty much over risking it with dating, too.
He knows love; part of him wants and craves it so badly, in fact (and it suits him quite well, actually. Serious and loyal, you couldn’t find someone more dedicated in a relationship, someone who knows what he wants), that his caution, his slowness at opening up, is mostly just a defense mechanism to keep him safe.
With the same expressions of teary blame painting the faces of all his past lovers whenever he thinks of them, his heart is now rather cold and hardened.
(He spends the first three of your dates stiff as a rock and only able to ask about you. He doesn’t even blink when you kiss his cheek on the fourth.)
Bakugo also doesn’t fuck on first dates… and when he does, it’s only because he didn’t think it should’ve been a date in the first place. It’s really just the easiest way to weed out people who are only looking for hero cock… and he only ever allows it for himself if he knows he’ll never see the person again.
He doesn’t text every day, either. Doesn’t fancy cuddling or even seeing people more than once a week until well after labels are established. Bakugo barely allows for one of his toothbrushes to live at your house even after he’s spent the night. Multiple times.
(That’s another thing about him, he’s careful about letting you into his apartment at first. He wants you there, absolutely… yet, at the same time, it’s almost too vulnerable for him. Instead, he enjoys finding comfort in your bed and in how you let him take up your space.)
It’s just because he’s insecure, right? Thinks that good things don’t last and nice people don’t stay.
But an insecure!Bakugo also has his moments. Moments of sickness and desperation where, once he has you, all he really knows is that that is what he wants… and he’ll do anything to be by your side.
He’ll call you in the middle of the night; when he’s off a rare late shift and doesn’t feel like sleeping… just to lay on top of your sheets in the dim lighting of your room and watch as you fall asleep.
He’ll show up at your work, gauntlets still on and everything (after nearly killing Denki for asking where he’s going), and just listen to your voice as you speak with your boss on the phone.
And he’ll fall asleep on your couch, both watching and listening to you doing anything… because that is how he shows his trust.
Love hasn’t been good to Bakugo. He knows he’s rough and mean, that he spits fire at people who really just want to love him…
And even though he wants to give up on it all (he won’t even hold your hand until literally six months into the relationship)… you make him want to try.
#bakugou x reader#bakugo#caitie post#I just feel like he’d be such a serious lover that no one (except u) could handle#like everyone excepts him to be fiery and passionate and deep down very soft for his lover#which is true but like…. personality wise… he’s not a dream man#and in actuality it’s like… he thinks love is traditional and soft and should be regarded with care specifically BECAUSE he’s rough#so I really heavily headcanon and think abt bakugo who just sucks at dating people even tho he tries#so when he meets u he has to get over this hump of all these failed relationships#that ended with everyone finding him mean#when he wasn’t trying to be … he just wasn’t changing his personality to be nice to u…#he was just trying to make things work#I think he’d be very similar to nanami in relationship#In seeking out someone very serious abt him#u know… practical and what not#but a lot of this is me projecting LOL#I really hate being touched by people… even romantic partners#and it’s hard for me to cope with since I hate that abt myself#so what do I do? make bakugo fit that narrative LOL#but I really do believe it deep down that he has high disparity tolerance bc of his parents#more bakugo x caitie canon is just… not f*cking for MONTHS#so was this a selfish piece? absolutely#but… whatever LOL it makes me happy to think abt#the inspiration was kinda…. based on one of the more intimate moments of my last relationship#it sounds so silly typing it out but#my ex knew I was kinda a wreck… and there was one day all I wanted to do was be with him and sit next to him#not touch or kiss or anything#and his teacher let me sit with him in class and watch him do his work#god I want to cry thinking about… so I should leave (esp since u didn’t ask for my life story)#but yea

Dad/Family headconons
Masterlist
Aizawa, Taishiro, Toshinori, Sir Nighteye, and Hawks
Tumblr media
Aizawa Shouta/Eraserhead
Despite him being that kind of nonchalant, I don’t give a shit about anything kind of person.....he’s a family guy
Loves kids
He just wants you to have a huge army of kids following alongside you hand in hand to visit him at work.
Looks forward to being able to relate to someone else with his quirk
Doesn’t care if they are all girls, all boys, a mixture of both, or even fostering or adopting, he’s for everything
Was kind of afraid to open up about that side of himself when you two got married, but you are all for it too
Feels that he can handle it with your help thanks to having some experience with dealing with his students
Is slapped in the face with shock when you two have your first 2 or 3 kids because infants are, you guessed it, nothing like teens who are all emotional about becoming a prohero
Guess he would be prepared for whenever they would get to their teenage years
Except for periods because he didn’t know anything about them but he’ll probably take the time to learn about it from you
Still happy over his growing army though
Still loves the chaos of it all, plus it’s good to have Aizawa to control their quirks when they start to develop
The chaos also reminds him of his own time in school with his few friends he had....they were always so vibrant and loud unlike him and he kind of envied it (secretly)
Yamada and Kayama (Present Mic and Midnight) loves to visit his little army and spoil them with toys and snacks even if Aizawa disapproved of it
You helped hand out the toys and snacks.....Aizawa could suck it up
Napping piles are normal in this household, so don’t be freaked when you see all of your children curled up or around Aizawa under a pillow fort in the living room.
It breaks his heart everytime though when his kids beg to take a stray cat home and he has to say no....but he’ll end up going back on patrol to feed it and then probably cave in and bring it home anyway
He’ll just shrug off his children’s accusations of him being a ‘hypocrite’ for saying no to their pleas earlier and say something like ‘Well I said you couldn’t do it, nothing about me though’
The tea parties are lit and he’ll crush anyone at a video game
Tumblr media
Taishiro Toyomistu/Fatgum
Really never thought about having his own kids until meeting Kirishima and Tamaki
Life was changed FOREVER since meeting them, now he would like to have his own family
It was kind of confusing to finally have the talk of having kids a couple of years into your marriage, but your views on having kids were changed too after meeting the two UA students
He let you on thinking just one or two kids were great, but you didn’t know if you should have been surprised that you were in the hospital room pushing out your 5th child
It was kind of funny to see Taishiro freaking out even if it was his 5th time next to you in labor
Your kids were so use to it they just sat out in the hallway doing their schoolwork or playing games on their iPads as Kirishima and Tamaki watched over them (your labor would always catch them while they were out on patrol)
I picture that all his kids are girls
He uses the excuse “just one more kid, maybe this time it’ll be a boy”, It’s NEVER a boy
I feel that he’s the dad to sneak home McDonald’s fries or ice cream to his kids despite you not liking it
Will take the blame when you catch one of your daughters munching on fries on the way back to her room (daughters will also try to take the blame, but how the heck could girls 13 and younger sneak out all the way to McDonalds)
He’ll also get all his daughters together to bake a cake and also decorate it. The creativity shown by his daughters will always amaze him.
He and his daughters would even clean up the kitchen together...mostly so that you wouldn’t get mad upon seeing the kitchen as a disaster
Gets way into watching Barbie’s Life in the Dream House and secretly really loves our queen Raquelle
Tumblr media
All Might/Toshinori Yagi
Just wants one little girl
To spoil her ROTTEN!
Seeing his friend David Sheild’s daughter Melissa grow up and look so happy always made him envious. Young Midoriya also played a huge role in his desire for at least one kid
One child was enough for the two of you and thankfully your first and only child was a girl
Gran Torino will also spoil her rotten along with Sir Nighteye
Will not be embarrassed to be caught sprawled out on the ground with your daughter playing with dolls
He’s actually quite proud of the fact that he doesn’t mind getting down and dirty when it comes to playing with ‘girly’ things with his young daughter unlike other dads
Loves to play Studio Ghibli movies for your daughter.....but Yagi is way more into it
I say this because Toshinori will try to hide his tears while watching My Neighbor Totoro as your daughter is fast asleep on his lap.
He will also sneak in a rated pg-13 hero movie from the United States in when your gone too....and then he’ll act surprise when your daughter would repeat the fowl language she heard in the movie
He would and WILL spend hours on YouTube to learn how to braid hair and put bows in and ribbons
He would bring her to work a lot too to see class 1A in action
Daughter will forever be his ‘baby’, so he HATES the thought of her starting to date and get married.
So when she admitted that the boy ‘Todoroki’ in his class was handsome while heading home one day from his work, he swore off boys....
He wasn’t surprised though, she was always managing to get Todoroki to hold her hand while Toshinori would have class 1A doing scenarios in teams and showing off her hair to him and asking if he noticed anything different.
Todoroki is a good sport, he held her hand and always complimented her hair...
Yeah she was mad at Toshinori and you made him unswear off boys, especially Todoroki
Brings your daughter to work just to brag about how he did her hair to EVERYONE
Tumblr media
Mirai Sasaki/Sir Nighteye
Eh....he didn’t want kids, never had the desire tbh
Though something about UA students’ charming personalities making these heroes want families. Mirio got him thinking one kid couldn’t be so bad
You were shocked when he asked to have a kid, but you agreed....after discussing it for awhile to make sure he wanted this
I picture him having one cute, little shy boy
Like the cute little boy with glasses who wears those cute shorts with a bug related shirt that just wants to search for roly-poly in the dirt and grass in the back yard
Very quiet and a bit shy around new people, but is literally the most polite little boy in the WORLD
Nighteye will use his quirk on his son when out looking for bugs to just see if he missed something in the grass or dirt, but that’s as far as he’ll use it
The reason why Nighteye thinks he’s so funny is because your son (and you of course along with mirio) are the only ones who laugh at his jokes, especially your son
Your son finds ANYTHING his dad says or does hilarious. His dad made a gasp of excitement along side his son upon finding a millipede? Instant laughter will follow
Those bouts of laughter from his son is the best feeling in the world to him
Tried to make your son an expert on All Might, but gave up when he came to his conclusion that your son just wasn’t into it.
It was kind of weird at first to find out his son was just simply NOT into heroes, but now he just loves the fact that his son likes what he likes and doesn’t let himself get swayed by others, even his own mom and dad
If you can’t make his little boy, his pride and joy, laugh? Sorry, but don’t talk to Nighteye or his son ever again
He will sit and listen to his little boy go on and on and on and ON about anything and never get bored (or show it). He will sit and listen intently about the cool facts about the bug he found or a plant.
He’d even listen to the longest explanation about a tiny little squiggle on a piece of paper that he drew on if it was being told by his little boy.
Will even put a meeting on hold just to answer a FaceTime from his son from your phone just to listen to him talk about a leaf he made a pressing of....and will sit there with the volume all the way up on his phone too so the others in the room can hear as well.
Will spend all night pinning bugs to a board to frame and label just for your son
Tumblr media
Keigo Takami/Hawks
He didn’t even want to date tbh
Though when he met you? The cliche ‘love at first sight’ happened and soon the two of you were married pretty quickly and boy was he a happy man
He didn’t really even want kids either. He just didn’t want to have kids and somehow they end up with a childhood like his that’s not the greatest or most normal, plus he was happy with the little domestic life with you.
But then IT happened. You know, when a mommy and daddy love each other very much and poof, a baby? Yeah....
He was TERRIFIED, but once your first child came into the world, a new sense of happiness sparked within him, like his own eyes opened for the first time to the world
This happened twice more, ending up with his happy family consisting of you, his two boys, and his little girl.
He’s the kind of dad to have his wallet FILLED with pictures of his kids and you. He will shamelessly show them off to fans while on patrol and also to Endeavor....even if he’s seen them a trillion times. Also his office is filled with framed pictures too
He also gets in trouble a lot along with his two boys for playing to rough and loudly within the house by you, especially for flying and being too competitive with video games and ANY activity he would take part in with them.
What can he say? His sons were like the best friends he was never able to have as a kid, he wanted to take in the beauties of having an energetic family
He doesn’t play favorites, but when it comes to his little girl? Sometimes he’ll catch a feeling of her feeling like she’s the odd one out when it comes to her two older brothers and he can relate to that feeling.
So he’ll set aside some dad and daughter time to do the things she likes, like read, color, and draw
He would even let her do his hair with tiny braids and color pieces of clip in hair and many butterfly clips. Keigo would also then wear it out proudly on patrol and check his reflection MULTIPLE times to make sure everything was in place.
He would then shout to the press and paparazzi that his daughter did his hair, showing it off in the process
When the picture would come out with the headliner ‘Hawks’ New Look Thanks to Daughter’ for the news the next day, the look of pride and awe on your daughters face upon looking at the front cover of the magazines and newspapers at the store you and his family would shop at would absolutely melt his heart melt
He’s the first one to pull back the covers to let his children climb in when scared by a thunderstorm or the spooky shadow in their room even if they may be getting ‘too old’ to be doing that...according to Endeavor however, so that information might be wrong
Bribes his kids not to tell you that he entered the house through the window and not the front door

hello mr simp do you have any thoughts on the leeks 👀
FIRST OF ALL. THEY CAME SO FUCKING EARLY??? BRO I WAS ASLEEP
SECOND OF ALL
holy SHIT YALL
Okay, it's no secret that I'm an All Might stan. I LOVE All Might. Very very much. Not just as a simp, but genuinely, I enjoy his character SO MUCH.
--And unlike what some people may think, I'm not totally blind to his flaws. I know he sucks as a mentor and that he's done way more harm to Deku than good. He's.... not perfect. in every sense of the word. The whole point of AM's character is that he is a DEEPLY FLAWED individual— but at the end of the day, still good.
Tumblr media
This new chapter gave me SOOO many new feelings. I'm not gonna lie to y'all and say I was a Stain apologist beforehand because I wasn't. I disliked Stain to a certain degree, but I also knew he was morally grey enough that I was able to still quite appreciate him as a character. This chapter was about EVERYTHING to me because I honestly did NOT expect Hori to go in this direction and for things to happen the way they did. It was too good to be true! Too fanfic-y! The disbelief I felt when I read what happened was on par with when Bakugou and Deku had that apology and kinda-hug in the rain!
But this disbelief is not because it was a bad thing.
I think the writing in Chapter 326 is phenomenal. The moment that All Might was really beginning to lose hope in not just himself as a hero, but himself as a PERSON... we finally hear the opinion of someone who would abso-fucking-LUTELY make or break the last of his spirit.
Tumblr media
Stain is, as much as his views are pretty agreeable and his label is that of a vigilante, still a pretty shitty guy. He's tried to kill literal kids who got in his way, even if said kids made pretty dumb decisions. AM hearing what he has to say is absolutely mind-boggling to him because he knows all of that. He knows Stain is a shitty person and that his worldview is perhaps terribly skewed. He knows Stain has spent a hot minute frying his brains down in Tartarus and isn't good at making judgment calls. Knows that for all intents and purposes, Stain's opinions are not to be trusted.
But the thing is... Toshinori also knows that Stain, regardless of the soundness of his mind, is telling the truth.
Regardless of how fucked-in-the-head Stain is, we as readers are able to acknowledge that he isn't blinded by hero worship. Sure, he's bitter, cynical, and quite the absolutist--but Stain is still clear-headed enough to be able to see AM's flaws for what they are and accept them, ultimately proving to Toshinori that the power of All Might was never his own but rather the legacy that he inspired.
Tumblr media
The society MHA takes place in is flawed. We all know this. Heroes, as a concept, had been corrupted into being purely about good and evil. Purely winning fights for money or fame or the abstract concept of victory (coughs Endeavor and the no.1 spot coughs), making heroism as we know it about flashiness and power instead of mercy and the desire to help others.
All Might symbolizes the ideal version of the Hero Society. He represents doing the best you can. Being a hero until you reach your limits, and then going even past that. He symbolizes pure intention and the desire to be a hero not for material gains but because of the pure want to make society a better and safer place. Stain refers to Kamino Ward and the statue as a "holy land" because he believes that through and through, AM's only had the purest of intentions and morals. To him, Toshinori was like a deity that had no fault in making society what it was in the present because that accountability fell on the generations of heroes that failed to fulfill his legacy.
The point being, Stain understood that All Might was fundamentally not about 'being there' for everyone 24/7, but rather the message his presence had sent.
All Might's monologue at the beginning of the chapter essentially boiled down to the ideas that:
A. He regrets not being there properly for Deku
B. His image was a delusion that ultimately led to the downfall of hero society.
To break this down, his problem with Deku is his inability to be a competent mentor. It shows that he has led him down dangerous and horrible paths (Deku's stubbornness to do things by himself and his 'dark' arc post-war), and is unable to bring him back into the light even if he tries. It was only when Class 1-A had intervened that they were able to get Deku to rest and let people tag along, after all, which is why Toshinori was far too embarrassed to follow him into UA's walls even after everyone had come out with umbrellas.
Tumblr media
Stain disproves this in two ways.
First, he says that it was never about All Might's ability to actually be there for people. The whole point of what inspired Deku to be the inherently good-hearted "true hero" he is today is because of the values that AM's brand had instilled in him as a child. AM's biggest positive impacts came from behind the screen where he was used as the proof that true heroes can and do exist. Deku does want to be exactly like All Might, yes, which is why we see Toshinori leading him down the same path that he walked--but the underlying message of this is that the very first thing All Might gave him even before OfA was the courage to help fix society.
I do believe Deku is an innately compassionate person. Most people in the series are. However, what makes All Might's smile so uniquely impactful to what it did to Hero Society is the way it gave people courage to help people. Less hesitation. Less bystander syndromes. The ability to move without thinking. Because you can feel the want to help a person, but the courage to be nosey and actually do it? That's portrayed as something AM's image teaches people.
The second way he disproves AM's insecurity of dragging Deku down is that he makes it clear that this pain is somewhat of a necessity in reforming society. He says, interestingly enough, that this is but the 'middle process' in reforming society. This spills over to how he addresses Problem B, but what Stain is essentially saying here is that this sort of brutality and isolation that Izuku faces is impermanent. A phase. It implies that even if Deku is struggling and Toshinori is unable to help him, it is something that needs to happen before they re-realize the ideal heroes All Might's image is meant to create.
Tumblr media
The second problem in regards to how All Might feels about current society (how it's collapsing because of him, etc. etc.) is more interestingly addressed. There are many things that Stain says--like how Toshinori doesn't need to actually be the one to fix society with his bare hands. The current society is not his fault because of the fact that it is not finished developing. I'm not sure if I can go so far as to say that Stain means this in the sense of the Scorched Earth method of tearing everything down to build it back up better-- but I can say that Stain still has faith in society to rebuild after this period of chaos.
This rebuilding starts with the old generation of heroes correcting what they messed up (i.e. Endeavor v Dabi) and more importantly, paving the way for a better generation of heroes that was inspired by All Might's image. Heroes that are led by people like Deku, who is defined by his proclivity to help without thinking. The violent deconstruction of society is about exposing society to the raw truth of All Might's image that not everybody can be as strong as him-- which is why we have to take care of each other.
When the lady comes in to remove the sign and start cleaning the statue, it's symbolic. It's a clear metaphor that the past few chapters are the turning point for society as a whole, and how people are starting to remember what real heroism is. From the distrust that was seeded in society ever since LoV had surfaced, we are seeing that trust being returned TEN-FOLD now that people can see not only the mask of a hero's smile, but also the person underneath.
Tumblr media
I think it's some really neat symbolism here too about how Deku, who's metal mouth guard was literally all about representing All Might's smile, is shed.
This is hero society dropping their masks. Letting people see them for as they are. Toshinori revisiting the statue in this form makes all the more impact because he shed his mask ages ago during the Kamino Bust, so this is him coming face to face with the image he's created and seeing the differences between them, and how his image continues to live on even after he's almost completely Quirkless. The lady cleaning the All Might statue shows off the fact that things can be repaired again--that society can be clean (hehe stain pun) again.
Tumblr media
It's interesting to me here how Stain offers the information from Tartarus.
He doesn't care anymore about his life. It's evident. He disagrees with what the LoV is doing, but believes enough in Deku to think that it's time for him to retire the mantle of 'Stain'. Unless this is another test, it's very odd for me to hear that Stain is offering a blade and his life to someone he isn't even sure is All Might.
But the impact of this action reads loud and clear.
This is Stain taking pity on All Might. This is him realizing that All Might too is a person behind the hero. That Toshinori Yagi is incapable of doing anything past the image he had already created. By offering that knife and information on Tartarus, Stain is giving control back to Toshinori. He is giving AM the chance to do something big again to help society's reconstruction. To be a part of the revolution that he so badly deserves to see. That knife is essentially an exit ticket from the sidelines, and one last chance for All Might to be able to see what his image has done for people.
I personally think that the main reason Stain is willing to die then and there by Toshinori's hand, despite not being sure that he is All Might to begin with, is because of the final impact it creates that it isn't about Toshinori Yagi's true power as a person, but the image of All Might. It is because he looks like the symbol of peace, that Stain (the literal HERO KILLER) feels comfortable laying his life in his hands and giving away valuable information.
If that isn't a great testament to the power of AM's image, I don't know WHAT is.
I guess all I have to say is I absolutely love what Stain did in this chapter. Everything felt so incredibly symbolic and emotional and as someone who absolutely ADORES All Might and what he stands for in the story, this felt like a cool balm after seeing Deku tragically reject his bento box a good few chapters ago. I have a few more opinions about symbolism, and how I think Deku's generation of heroes is going to stray from the old gen, but I think that's a discussion for another time.
Thanks for reading 'til the end!

soften every edge
Luc doesn’t remember a lot about his early childhood.
He knows it wasn’t exactly the most normal of upbringings. He knows that most kids didn’t grow up with crossbow practice, magic books, and a dog that could blink in and out of existence. He knows he moved around a lot. He knows that Mom is a hero, and that she couldn’t be at home for a while.
He knows that at one point, he died.
Sometimes he’ll get flashes that he’ll try to make sense of. Frantic shouts in the air and splinters of wood at his feet as he runs alone to Old Edith’s. The twittering of a hummingbird on one shoulder and the steady hand of a man with a shock of white hair on the other. People rushing around him to a looming tower in the distance. A heat so intense it fills his lungs and makes his eyes water, a blaze of light, an explosion that turns everything to static and pain. Darkness.
Hands on his chest, gentle, but with a power that sends warmth pulsing from his heart to the tips of his fingers. Uncle Ducey, even paler than usual, his tired smile the first thing Luc sees when his eyes flutter open.
(They’ve always had a connection. It took a while for him to wrap his head around it, but he recognizes now that it was Uncle Ducey who brought him back to the land of the living. And at times it feels like Luc is only truly tethered here when he reaches up to tuck his hand into Uncle Ducey’s, when the two of them sit side by side in a garden, planting seeds in a peaceful silence interspersed by the occasional toot.)
Mom and Dad, hugging him between them, a tangle of arms and legs as they hold him close. Fabric damp from tears, a thick smell of smoke, but the familiar scent of Dad’s chemicals and Mom’s black powder as well.
(People might find it strange that such things are comforting to him, but they’re his reminders that Mom and Dad will always be his protectors. Not that they’d let him forget it anyway—they’ve always been a little overbearing. He gets it, and he can’t blame them when they want to keep an eye on him everywhere he goes or set up traps on all the windows of their home. At least Beau—not Auntie Beau, she always insists, and Luc agrees; Beau’s as much his aunt as anyone, but she’s also TJ’s sister and the label would be so weird—she teaches him how to sneak around the traps and makes him a master at coming up with excuses to get away when he needs it.)
Uncle Caleb’s face appears a lot too, screwed up in a haunted expression Luc doesn’t understand as Frumpkin is sent over to nuzzle in his arms.
(He understands a little, now. Regret, sadness, a weight of guilt that hunches thin shoulders and darkens blue eyes. He still sees it, sometimes, when he asks too many questions about Uncle Caleb’s adventures, about his scars, about how he picked up all the cool spells he’s teaching Luc now. Uncle Caleb always answers with a smile, as patient and warm as his bedtime stories and lessons in magic. But Luc’s learned that some things are difficult to talk about, and he’s learned to be careful not to push too much.)
There’s also Auntie Jester’s voice in his ear, always loud and lively, but occasionally with a wobble that makes him want to go back in time and give her a hug.
(It’s weird to think about Auntie Jester sounding scared. She’s the most badass blue lady in all of Exandria, and whenever she visits, they skip along the beaches of Nicodranas together and play pranks on grumpy shopkeepers. She’s always got a spring in her step and a pastry in hand, and she talks about things like pirates and sea serpents without missing a beat. Luc doesn’t know what could make her afraid. He doesn’t like thinking about it.)
He doesn’t think Uncle Fjord, Auntie Yasha, or Beau were there that night. But he can picture them surrounding him afterwards, a wall between him and any danger that would dare try to take him again.
(And of course, they’ve etched themselves into his history as much as the others since then. Uncle Fjord taught him how to swim, and the two of them have taken countless dives along miles of sparkling coral. Auntie Yasha is lessons in swordfighting and piggyback rides through the sky, and also lazy afternoons in the sun with notes from a harp drifting in the background. Beau’s the one Luc can tell anything without fear of being tattled on, the one who teaches him to use his fists, but only in defense of himself and his friends. Luc just hopes they don’t feel like they have to make up for that one moment they were gone.)
Sometimes it’s all a bit too much. Sometimes he’ll wake up clammy, his pajamas drenched in a cold sweat, with noises crawling into his ears and crowding in his head, and he has to reach for his copper wire and call for Mom or Dad to stay with him until he falls asleep again. He’s probably too old for that now.
They never ever judge him for it, though, or tell him he needs to grow up and face the nightmares alone. Uncle Ducey says it’s okay, too, that Luc’s worries of being annoying or a baby are just lies from his brain that he can recognize and shut down. There’s no shame in getting support from the people who love you. In fact, it’s one of the most precious gifts that nature can offer.
So he doesn’t remember a lot. But he knows he has the coolest parents in the world, even if they can be overprotective. And he knows he has six aunts and uncles who would do absolutely anything for him. It’s something he’s never going to take for granted.
(He’d be lying if he said he never takes advantage of it, though. But hey, he’s totally just using the resources the Wildmother gave him when he asks eight different adults for something until he gets an answer he wants. It would be wasteful not to.)

I have so many cute, fluffy requests but lemme drop this one! I’d love to request head cannons of Bakugo, Shinsou, Kirishima, and Mirio being dared to lay on their crush’s lap. Y/N is chilling on the couch on her phone, unaware of this. So these bois fulfill the dare and of course Y/N is surprised but she always liked them and doesn’t think she’ll have an opportunity like this again, so what does she do? Place her phone down and gently rubs their head with one hand and cheek with the other with a tender smile and even calling them cute.
laying on their crush’s lap
character(s) : bakugou katsuki, shinsou hitoshi, kirishima eijirou, togata mirio
legend : [Y/N = your name] they/them pronouns, but a f! reader, quirk’s not mentioned
headcanon type : fluff
note(s) : i want to apologize for not uploading yesterday! i was quite hoarded with school work, but just so you know— i do see your requests :)) i also wrote this at 3am by the way so.. no proofread rn but i will later!

Tumblr media
bakugou katsuki
ugh— first of all
bakugou is not one for dares. he thinks dares are quite useless, and irrelevant
however, it was either him; bakugou katsuki, being labeled a chicken or
laying his head down on Y/N— his crush. it doesn’t seem so bad to be honest
but.. the problem is that no one excluding the bakusquad has an idea of his feelings towards you
little did he know, you also harbor feelings towards him.
his pride.. can’t be hurt from something like this. nah, that’d be embarrassing
so he decides to go through with the dare.
after dinner, and briefly before he goes to sleep—
he enters the ground floor, and walks past the common room, where the bakusquad was just chilling at
you’re sitting beside them, just chilling on your phone— while listening to their antics
the bakusquad’s just staring at him, with a knowing look adorning their expressions
bakugou blinks, and he can sigh irritatedly— as he walks towards the couch, standing in front of you
carmine eyes practically glaring at you, waiting for you to notice his intense stare locked on you
with the bakusquad staring in anticipation, waiting for something to happen
you eventually notice (i mean, how could you not?) and you can only tilt your head “what’s up with you??” you question him with a light hearted tone
he doesn’t say much, only sighing before immediately dropping down and settling his head on your lap
you immediately grow flustered, suddenly aware of how soft his ash blond hair is (despite it’s rather.. spiky appearance)
the bakusquad’s just like “HOLY SHIT- he actually did it!” and it’s suddenly.. a lot more chaotic.
the blond shifts his position momentarily, red eyes staring up at you as they scan your expression for any sign of rejection
taking in your sheepish expression, and the fact that you gave him nothing but a rather.. contagious smile, he takes that as a good sign
but he’s surprised when you set down your phone, and attaching one hand onto his head- petting luscious blond pieces of hair
he blinks- genuinely pleased by this action and the bakusquad goes beserk
“is that good enough for you, dumbasses?” he asks switching back to his usual self, and they don’t give him much of an answer- only sending him cheeky looks.
when it’s time to go back to your rooms, bakugou suddenly breaks the silence.
“based off your reaction, i could say you like me back.” bakugou says it in such a soft tone, which is very out of character
you can only nod, and before you guys part ways, bakugou grabs the courage to grab your face and kiss you love the pining
Tumblr media
hitoshi shinsou
it was definitely kaminari that asked him to do this, i mean.. when was it not-
recently joining the hero course in his second year, finally after working hard for his spot in the class- he became classmates with you
the person he’s been crushing on for the last year or so.
again, hitoshi’s pretty chill when it comes to dares and class games, but he’s not someone that would indulge in them regularly.
but kaminari, being quite the social butterfly he is, waltzed over to the recent addition to their class
and asked him to lay his head on your lap. since he was having his suspicions of shinsou having a crush.
shinsou’s thinking like.. “damn, he definitely knows. i mean, he’s probably the only person that knows.”
thing is, he’s probably the least bold out of all of these characters.
like.. he kinda wants to do it because it’s you but he’s also considering your feelings
oh boy.. if only you knew.
and he doesn’t want to embarrass you either. so he's just having a heart time just finding the perfect moment.
scanning the hallway of any people, he pads right across it as he enters the common room
he’s surprised to see you chilling on the couch.
you squeak out a small noise startled by the sudden appearance of another person, but they immediately calm down realizing it’s shinsou
“didn’t expect to see you there,” you laugh, and he could only chuckle at your reaction, as he stand next to the couch
his stomach is practically swarming with butterflies, but he replies anyway “you’re not staying in your room?”
“i didn’t realize how late it was,” you smile, “what’re you doing down here?”
“just getting a glass of water,” shinsou replies simply, silently trying his best to calm down his racing heart, shifting to stand infront of you
it’s silent for a few seconds, and it feels like forever. but shinsou concludes that he might as well do it now.
there's no one here to question his actions anyway.
dropping down, he pushes his head onto your lap- which surprises you because you never expected hitoshi shinsou; your crush
to just.. suddenly settle his head on your lap.
you’re flustered, but you love how the peaceful look on his usually tired out face.
placing your hand on his head, fingers weaving through purple locks- you allow a moment to pass by
breaking the silence, you speak “how cute,”
shinsou raises an eyebrow at your comment, and stands right up- walking away from the cut short moment.
“where are you going?” you ask, since how could he just do that and walk away so casually??
“getting water, like i said.” the corner of his lips turn up slightly. “i’ll see you later. maybe we could do this more.”
you don’t reply- and shinsou could only laugh at the way you owlishly blink “now who’s the cute one now?” he pokes fun at your bewildered- yet cute expression, and it’s not long before he disappears into the hallway
the next day, kaminari experiences such a field day when he finds out he did it. he could tell by the sheepish look on your face.
Tumblr media
kirishima eijirou
who’s the one that dared him? it was mina and kaminari
similar to bakugou, the bakusquad’s the only one that has a slight idea of your crush, and that includes bakugou
to his dismay
so they dared kirishima to do this because it might just give you guys a head start. and they also wanted to see kiri’s reaction.
at first, kirishima was pretty reluctant regarding this dare, because.. how tf is he gonna do this??
is it unmanly to just.. walk up to you and plop his head right down onto your lap?
what if he tarnished what y’all have? he wouldn’t say it’s a relationship yet, but your relationship’s at a pretty good place right now.
it was bakugou that convinced him to do the dare because “just do it, idiot. it might do you something good for once.”
he only said this because he wanted them to shut up ngl
so if his bestie- bakugou is telling him to a dare then.. it’s probably a sign to do it.
shaking off the nervousness, kirishima walks off to find you- because the sooner the better, right?
you’re just doing your own thing, as you chill with mina on the couch. seeing the red head- mina sends a quick expression that practically tells him to go for it
kirishima gulps, nervously- and he enters the area, you’re suddenly aware of his presence.
“oh, hi kiri!” you greet him casually, and he waves back at you, butterflies tickling his stomach.
no need to feel nervous eijirou, just.. do it.
breathing in, he immediately kneels down on the floor right infront of you
you’re startled when you suddenly feel weight on your lap, and you’re visibly flustered seeing your own crush resting his head on your lap
mina’s making train noises right now, but she’s trying hard to not make a huge deal out of it (but how could she not, really? she’s tired of seeing both of her friends pinning over each other.)
“sorry, Y/N” kirishima apologizes, yet he doesn't see the slightest hint of discomfort.
you laugh, smoothing your head over his head, his face practically rivals his dyed hair. “if you wanted to lay your head on my lap, you could’ve said so, cutie.”
wait.. so does that mean you like him too?
mina couldn’t contain herself, as seeing the heavens as y’all interact. rip
Tumblr media
togata mirio
shy? that’s so funny.
is that a thing with mirio togata? this is the same man that fought class 1-A butt ass naked.
there’s no shame detected in his bloodstream. more like.. he just knows how to hide it well.
nejire dared him to lay his head on your lap, because she wanted the both of you to just “get together already!!”
and she also wanted to see your reaction.
tamaki’s just like “uh.. won’t Y/N spontaneously combust though?”
mirio legit has no shame, this guy is the sole definition of ‘where’s my hug at?’
would not care about the location because a dare is a dare. the next time he sees you sitting outside of school hours
he’s sitting on that lap. end of the discussion.
you’re sitting on the couch of the dorm’s common room, and you’re just waiting for a text from nejire and tamaki
(since you and mirio aren’t classmates with tamaki and nejire, you guys try to meet up with each other as much as y’all can.)
mirio walks into the common room, and he’s glad to see you just sitting there.
now would be a good time!
calling your name out cheerfully, he approaches you-”Y/N, hi!” he grins as he approaches you, nothing seems off.
“hi mirio- wait,” your greeting is cut off short when he sets his head on your lap, humming immediately as he savors the pleasant feeling.
“w-what’re you doing?”
“laying on your lap! it’s pretty comfortable here. have i told you that yet?”
you shake your head, experiencing a loss of words.
he can only grin, eyes shimmering with joy- absolutely loving the expression on your face.
“you’re too cute, mirio. if you asked me out right now, i wouldn't be too mad at the idea.”
blinking up at you, he asks “well? will you?”
“of course.”
nejire and tamaki’s watching the scene from outside, and tamaki had to restrain nejire from squealing too hard.
thanks nejire :))

hello! can i have a Yan dabi, hawks, aizawa and shiggy with a s/o who’s from a different universe where they don’t have quirks so they’re super amazed with the yanderes quirks! I hope you’re having a good day 💕
Sorry this took me so long, I just had so many other requests.
Tw: Yandere themes, unhealthy mindset, unhealthy relationship, possessiveness, obsessiveness, delusions, kidnapping
That’s so cool
Tomura Shigaraki
Tumblr media
✋He is pretty much shocked over the fact that his darling is amazed with his quirk because he can literally erase someone’s existence without having to do much more than touching them. His darling knows that as well, don’t they? And they’re not afraid of him? That might be at first a bit odd, but Shiggy becomes in no time thrilled about this since he was at the beginning more scared that they would be afraid of him due to his deadly powers. It still doesn’t mean that he won’t be careful since he still fears you might fear him if he accidentally hurts you for which he would totally hate himself.
✋He wouldn’t really have much of a reaction over a darling from another world, he doesn’t care. But he does care that you stay with him and love him, these are a few of his top priorities and having a quirk or not doesn’t matter, or in this case, being from another world. He won’t let you go back anyways and is not really interested in your world, though he will listen if you talk about it and he can meanwhile just snuggle with you. That’s fine for him.
Dabi/Touya Todoroki
Tumblr media
🔹He does take a certain pride in his quirk, but he doesn’t think too much about it either since it is too natural for him. His reaction is actually pretty laid-back since that is how Dabi is in general with his darling if there is no trouble or danger. It secretly boosts his ego a bit, but he manages to not come over as arrogant since he knows the dark aspects to his fire as well. But for someone who comes from a pretty plain world he guesses blue fire must be extremely cool, especially since a person can control it. He has no problem whatsoever to do a few simple tricks just to astonish his darling, but he will also be cautious to not burn them accidentally.
🔹Touya becomes more protective over a darling from another world, even so much more when getting to know that quirks are non-existing and they’re completely new to everything in here. He sees you as someone weak and for that someone he has to protect and whilst you might get offended when he labels you as fragile, he is somewhat talking facts because even against a less strong quirk you wouldn’t stand a chance. He won’t be too persistent to ask you about your world, but is here to listen if you need someone to talk to when missing your old life.
Hawks/Keigo Takami
Tumblr media
🪶Okay, I’m pretty sure he would be totally excited about a darling like this because Hawks is, not meant in an offensive way, very full of himself. His darling just feeds into his ego like this and being a show-off, he boosts about his quirk a lot in front of them just so he can see that amazed expression on their face. Flying is in his your pretty much a dream and having someone with wings is just beyond cool for them. It kind of makes him easier jealous and possessive though since he wants to be the only one who you compliment and he gets rather competitive when another hero gets the same reaction. It makes him feel like he has to show he is the best which he wants to be for you.
🪶He is annoying with the whole thing about you being from a different universe and is pestering about it. He is obsessive over it in a way, not only because he is interested. But also because he also wants to make sure that you won’t leave him, be that willingly or forcefully, though he chooses to go with both. Hawks mostly wants to know how he can charm his darling enough so they wouldn’t want to leave even if they get the chance and also to prevent anything of this to happen in the first place.
Aizawa Shouta
Tumblr media
💤Aizawa actually doesn’t think that his quirk is all that flashy, though of course it is a very strong and practical quirk to have. But in comparison to quirks of his students and his fellow teachers it doesn’t look all that cool like a fire quirk. But it doesn’t bring him down and since he is pretty chill, he doesn’t react too strongly to his darling telling him this. He gets kind of flustered every time he catches them just thinking of his quirk as the most amazing thing ever, but he doesn’t let it get to his head too much and is with his feet pretty much down to earth. That’s what he tells you as well, that they’re people with quirks stronger than him and if you still protest he feels flattered since he feels like he isn’t the best in a relationship.
💤Similar to Dabi he as well feels like he has to protect you more since you’re new to this world and are much more helpless than many others. But different from the villain, he doesn’t think of you to the same extent of a docile darling that has to be protected all the time. There are people in this world as well who have no quirks and that is why he lets you do things more freely. The only things he really is anxious about is whether you would want to leave him if ever getting the chance to travel back or what some people might do if they discover from where you are.
