✨You are not a failure for having writers block.
✨You haven’t “let your audience down” for not updating in a while.
✨You aren’t a bad person for writing about problematic content.
✨You can always take a break from your writing, even if it’s for a significant amount of time.
✨You can always leave a project, work on something else, and come back to it later.
✨You aren’t a “bad writer” for only having a few projects.
✨You aren’t a “bad writer” for only having a lot of projects.
✨You aren’t a “bad writer” if you decide to only write about things that are important to you.
✨You don’t owe anyone continuous updates for a project.
✨You are a writer, and that’s enough.

Writeblr Introduction
Tumblr media
Please reblog!
Hello Writeblr! I'm oliveScales, and I'm currently writing and illustrating my webcomic named "The Forgotten Legends of Chima", or TFLOC for short.
I'm a fan of mythology and folklore, and I'm trying to study a few of them for my worldbuilding. Worldbuildings with focus on culture are my favorite! I also really like stories with animals and anthropomorphic characters. I'm an american who enjoys studying other cultures, and am currently studying the Portuguese language!
The Forgotten Legends of Chima is a fantasy science fiction story about the land of Chima, home to eight animal tribes. Here, you'll learn about their cultures, witness intriguing and complex relationships between them, and understand the importance of diversity.
TFLOC is an interpretation of Legends of Chima's storyline, which means that worldbuilding and characters are going to be developed alongside new content to add further depth into the story, such as unimportant/secondary characters becoming important and vital to the story.
Synopsis
In a world where civilizations clash for Chi in order to survive, Laval, prince of the Lion Tribe, strives to overcome every war and all injustice without ever gripping a sword. It all started when Laval witnessed evil and inequality with his own eyes. Since then, he has promised himself to protect anyone, no matter who they are, from suffering and that he will restore peace in the land of Chima. These are the Forgotten Legends of Chima.

Dear writers,
I love you. I love your work. What I'm about to tell you comes from a place of love.
Learn how to edit. It's different than writing. It requires a more detached outlook. It's hard. It'll make you sad. It's necessary.
I know an editor. She's willing to edit my work for publication. Like, full on "I'll help you make this good." not just a glorified spell check and grammar checker.
She charges between 1 and 3 cents per word. 1 cent per for works that are "broadly ready to go" and 3 cents for works that need more help.
Assuming a novel that's around 120k words (my last novel) you're looking at Thirty Six Hundred Dollars for editing at 3 cents a word and $1200 if it's a penny a word.
All this is to say, that the more work you do on your own to edit your work, the cheaper it'll be to get your work published.
It might make you disheartened to see how much it costs, I know it did for me. But also remember that paying people what they're worth is important too. "But I simply can't afford it."
I feel you.
This is where it's worthwhile to learn about editing yourself and learn to edit your own work. That's not to say you shouldn't have other people read it, you absolutely should.
Getting a book published is hard. It's expensive. It's not fun. But, if you want to be published, either self or through a more traditional means, it's necessary.
Note, I haven't been published yet either, so take everything I say with a whole-ass salt lick.

In need of an editor/help (again)
Hello again.
I really didn't know if I wanted to do this again, since I did this before about a year ago, but right now I just want to explore my options.
I have been working on my main WIP for a few years now, but the biggest issue with getting it out is that it’s been stuck in editorial hell. I have now cycled through four editors, my most recent having to step off after a year of on-and-off work due to stuff in their personal life.
The WIP is called Afterlife. If I were to put genres to it, I’d say that it’s mainly in the realms of post-apocalyptic, sci-fi, action, supernatural/superpower, with a lot of elements taken from RPG video games, American superhero comics, Japanese anime/manga, and world mythology/religion/folklore/etc..
The basic gist of the story/setting is that it takes place in the distant future, thousands of years after multiple portals opened up above Earth’s most populated cities and demonic entities descended down wiped out most of humanity, humanity actually managed to survive and rebuild society underneath giant-force fields of energy called “Domes”. The main plot follows a group of teenagers who are able to summon demons through the use of technology and use them to combat threats to society (i.e in this first book they [mostly] fight their school's corrupt student council).
I actually finished the first book well over a year ago now, again it's just been stuck in this limbo state. It currently sits at fourteen chapters, fifteen counting the quick interlude chapter that my previous editor had me write. My previous editor actually got pretty far. They read up to chapter nine and left comments/notes on all of them, and then we went over chapters one-five and parts of six and seven together in discord calls, so I'd say that a good bulk of the work is actually kind of done. It's just a matter of finishing up the last couple of chapters.
What I’m looking for is someone who I can potential work with long term, or at least help me finish stuff up and then help me find someone for the long term.
If payment is required that’ll have to be discussed, because I have no source of income at the moment. I'm an unemployed college dropout, and I really want to make my artistic endeavors my careers. My idea has always kind of been that once I actually start putting the book out, I can give you a cut of the of the profits or something like that. The other idea I've had is maybe working out a "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" type of deal, where if you edit my stuff, I can look at and edit your stuff as well.

The thought of snow.
Every day I think.
Always about it.
Every day I blink.
Always getting hit.
Getting hit with the emotions.
The emotions of life.
Life is moving like the oceans.
Oceans sharp like a knife.
Am I meant to feel like this?
I could never know.
Because whenever I feel bliss
it's like I'm covered with snow.
Even if snow can be pretty.
Even if snow can be joy.
It can still suffocate me.
It can still make me destroy.
Destroy my own.
Destroy everyone else's.
Destroying what?
Everything you can see...

My First Digital Art :DD
Tumblr media
“now I lay me down, lay me down to sleep, I pray to thee, pray my soul to keep”
For my first ever attempt at digital art I decided to draw Fennrin from @dragonthusiast upcoming Nightstar trilogy, because he is such a great character and I love him so much. His book 2 toxic relationship arc will be the most delicious thing you’ll ever read—and this fanart depicts the symbolism of it.
You can find out more about Nightstar in this post, which you should DEFINITELY check out, if you like this silly little art piece (you should check out Nightstar even if you didn’t like my art). You can also learn more about the characters here.
Go check these out. Support my beloved best friend, because she is super talented and so underrated.

the thing is that they're so fascinated by sex, they love sex, they can't imagine a world without sex - they need sex to sell things, they need sex to be part of their personality, they need sex to prove their power - but they hate sex. they are disgusted by it.
sex is the only thing that holds their attention, and it is also the thing that can never be discussed directly.
you can't tell a child the normal names for parts of their body, that's sexual in nature, because the body isn't a body, it's a vessel of sex. it doesn't matter that it's been proven in studies (over and over) that kids need to know the names of their genitals; that they internalize sexual shame at a very young age and know it's 'dirty' to have a body; that it overwhelmingly protects children for them to have the correct words to communicate with. what matters is that they're sexual organs. what matters is that it freaks them out to think about kids having body parts - which only exist in the context of sex.
it's gross to talk about a period or how to check for cancer in a testicle or breast. that is nasty, illicit. there will be no pain meds for harsh medical procedures, just because they feature a cervix.
but they will put out an ad of you scantily-clad. you will sell their cars for them, because you have abs, a body. you will drip sex. you will ooze it, like a goo. like you were put on this planet to secrete wealth into their open palms.
they will hit you with that same palm. it will be disgusting that you like leather or leashes, but they will put their movie characters in leather and latex. it will be wrong of you to want sexual freedom, but they will mark their success in the number of people they bed.
they will crow that it's inappropriate for children so there will be no lessons on how to properly apply a condom, even to teens. it's teaching them the wrong things. no lessons on the diversity of sexual organ growth, none on how to obtain consent properly, none on how to recognize when you feel unsafe in your body. if you are a teenager, you have probably already been sexualized at some point in your life. you will have seen someone also-your-age who is splashed across a tv screen or a magazine or married to someone three times your age. you will watch people pull their hair into pigtails so they look like you. so that they can be sexy because of youth. one of the most common pornography searches involves newly-18 young women. girls. the words "barely legal," a hiss of glass sand over your skin.
barely legal. there are bills in place that will not allow people to feel safe in their own bodies. there are people working so hard to punish any person for having sex in a way that isn't god-fearing and submissive. heteronormative. the sex has to be at their feet, on your knees, your eyes wet. when was the first time you saw another person crying in pornography and thought - okay but for real. she looks super unhappy. later, when you are unhappy, you will close your eyes and ignore the feeling and act the role you have been taught to keep playing. they will punish the sex workers, remove the places they can practice their trade safely. they will then make casual jokes about how they sexually harass their nanny.
and they love sex but they hate that you're having sex. you need to have their ornamental, perfunctory, dispassionate sex. so you can't kiss your girlfriend in the bible belt because it is gross to have sex with someone of the same gender. so you can't get your tubes tied in new england because you might change your mind. so you can't admit you were sexually assaulted because real men don't get hurt, you should be grateful. you cannot handle your own body, you cannot handle the risks involved, let other people decide that for you. you aren't ready yet.
but they need you to have sex because you need to have kids. at 15, you are old enough to parent. you are not old enough to hear the word fuck too many times on television.
they are horrified by sex and they never stop talking about it, thinking about it, making everything unnecessarily preverted. the saying - a thief thinks everyone steals. they stand up at their podiums and they look out at the crowd and they sign a bill into place that makes sexwork even more unsafe and they stand up and smile and sign a bill that makes gender-affirming care illegal and they get up and they shrug their shoulders and write don't say gay and they get up, and they make the world about sex, but this horrible, plastic vision of it that they have. this wretched, emotionless thing that holds so much weight it's staggering. they put their whole spine behind it and they push and they say it's normal!
this horrible world they live in. disgusted and also obsessed.
#this shifts gender so much bc it actually affects everyone#yes it's a gendered phenomenon. i have written a LOT about how different genders experience it. that's for a different post.#writeblr#ps my comments about seeing someone cry -- this is not to shame any person#and on this blog we support workers.#at the same time it's a really hard experience to see someone that looks like you. clearly in agony. and have them forced to keep going.#when you're young it doesn't necessarily look like acting. it looks scary. and that's what this is about - the fact that teens#have likely already been exposed to that definition of things. because the internet exists#and without the context of healthy education. THAT is the image burned into their minds about what it looks like.#it's also just one of those personal nuanced biases -#at 19 i thought it was normal to be in pain. to cry. to not-like-it. that it should be perfunctory.#it was what i had seen.#and it didn't help that my religious upbringing was like . 'yeah that's what you get for premarital. but also for the reference#we do think you should never actually enjoy it lol'#so like the point im making is that ppl get exposed to that stuff without the context of something more tender#and assume .... 'oh. so it's fine i am not enjoying myself'. and i know they do because I DID.#he was my first boyfriend. how was i supposed to know any different#i didn't even have the mental wherewithal to realize im a lesbian . like THAT used to suffering.

Writebrl Introduction (I guess)
Writebrl Introduction (I guess)
Attention, everyone, I, FC, and the Hope Squad Story are back!
For those who don’t know me, hi I am FC (I don’t use my main blog, though), and this blog is focused on my biggest project yet: The Hope Squad AU.
It involves a lot of characters that I created, organizations and towns that I created (so, a lot of worldbuilding), but, it also involves DC elements (because it was a Maribat Project before I decided to remove miraculous).
So, don’t be shy or hesitant if you are not involved in any of the fandoms that have small cameos (well, in some case they are bigger), because the original stuff is worth it.
The Story, the Adventures of the Hope Squad is about a team of superheroes (they are less like the Justice League, though, and more like the Winx Club, The Mystery Inc and the Crystal Gem. They save the world, but there is a big focus on their interactions with each other, their friendship, and their found-family bond).
The team is formed by Harry Wayne Indigo (No connection to Harry Potter. Queer people are welcome here), Zak Miller, Amber Charm, Charlie and Kitty Nex.
They must fight this cruel and dystopian organization called The Green Light Lab. Mix Autodale with Homeworld, with the atmosphere of the Real Lab of Undertale, make it worse, and you already know how bad they are.
This lab is after powerful magical objects called “The Gems of Virtues”, and the Squad needs to go after them first (Charlie and Kitty only join officially in season 2, though, for… reasons).
There are also thousands of other OCs (Hopevalley people, other scientists, more rebels against the lab…) but I will make a detailed post about it later.
A special thanks to
My writer friend @natedogx15, who saw and avaluated all of my arts before posting.
My friend @l-antre-des-merveilles, who helped me in some advice related to a character name.
The story’s summary and cover is here.
Hope You guys give it a chance and… bye!

This is for the writers who feel like they don't write enough- because of jobs, because of exams and school, college, university and all that jazz. You are valid, what makes you a writer is that you love to create characters, plots and the like. It doesn't matter how much you manage to write. It's about the joy of creation and the comfort of knowing that this is all a part of you.
Your wips can and will wait if they have to. Don't stress yourselves out. Do what's important, take care of yourselves.
You are worthy.
You are valid
You are loved

Hi buddy, Athena here. Popping in to say hi and see how you're doing, fellow writeblr. How are things going? Feel free to info dump
Not too badly. For the first time ever I finished one whole story! Posting regularly to Tumblr really helped me keep going (thanks everyone) and instead of editing and tweaking it I got intimidated and instead dove into writing another! I reached out to a friend of a friend who is a professional editor and she gave me A: a bunch of cold cold water about my work but B: also a lot of hope that not only can I do it, but that I should and recommended I pick up this book:
(No affiliate link.) I burned through it in an afternoon and it really gave me some great tips on setup, structure and other places I was weak. I'll still edit my first story for practice and to get the feel of things, but to be honest the one I'm posting now is much stronger. It feels good to see real progress.

Writing rule:
Every character who speaks gets their own paragraph. If two characters are talking, each time they switch you must create a new paragraph.
Do not add more than one characters’s dialogue into a single paragraph or it will be too confusing for the reader.
