hi daisy, ur so nice and lovely, and i adore your writing, i rlly look up to u, so i want to know if u have any tips/advice for me getting into writing fanfic and posting it. i feel really embarrased about getting into this but ik that this is something i wanna do and that embarasment im feeling is just bc i dont now ppl irl who read fanfic or anything so ya anyway sorry !! what im trying to say is im struggling to get started, and am discoraged by the fact that i may not get good feedback on my writing, so any tips and/or advice , i would appreciate it sm !!! <33

(also you probably wont recognise me but im just on anon for comfort bc im so bad at social interaction nsdkfj </3 /lh)

i'm glad you enjoy my writing, and I'm glad that you enjoy my presence here too!! i'd love to give you advice, because you're not wrong, it's difficult to get started!!

the hardest thing to get over at first is the stigma around fanfiction!! it's really not something that's very outwardly common, of course tumblr is a safe space but people outside of it can be assholes! please just remember, fanfiction is not only a great way to start writing, but it's an excellent way to improve your writing, and grow with it!! you work with predetermined and pre-exposed characters and a defined setting, and of course you're taking creative liberties with the confines of the scenario and with their character, but you're able to cast away some of the burden of major character building to focus on the little things!! you're able to work with characters that you love, and it helps you fine-tune the more advanced areas of your writing because you don't need to focus on the worldbuilding! ignore what people have to say about it, i swear to god people will criticize fanfiction for being cringey and delusional and then watch porn and imagine themselves in the scenario.. like.. babe that's the same thing.. just ignore them!!

the advice that i usually give when people are scared of not getting feedback is to make sure that you're liking what you're writing! if you write something because you think other people will like it, and then it doesn't get as big as you wanted it to, you'll be discouraged. but if you write something that you think you will like, even if it doesn't get as big as you wanted it to, you'll still have it for you!!! just remember, growth doesn't have to be linear (don't get discouraged if you rack up 80 notes one day and only 30 the next, it doesn't mean you won't ever get 80+ again), and don't ever discredit your work just because not a lot of people are seeing it at first! you still wrote it, whether it was 200 words or 20,000, you wrote that and no one can take that away from you just because they don't see it

i will say though, tumblr has a difficult feedback system. the ratio of likes to reblogs can be absolutely atrocious at times (41:0 and 289:3 might be my worst), and it hurts sometimes that people don't seem to want Your Thing on Their Blog, y'know? But i guarantee you once you get a good reblog/review/piece of feedback, it's like meth. those reviews are literally good enough to break you out of that funk!! i hope you get lots of those :D

it's hard work, writing on tumblr. if not for the act of writing itself, but for the act of putting yourself out there and not knowing what you'll receive. it's a brave thing to do, and i hope it goes well for you!! if you are who i think you are i'll definitely keep an eye on your blog and make sure to check out whatever you end up posting!

— y'know, he really wants to spend as much of his time w you, like every second of his life, but he's a king, and a busy one at that. he doesn't like just holding ur hand while on meetings or sharing longing glances from across the room (though he does like them), so he dances w you like all night during winter fates or balls and literally sticking his tongue out to the men who's been waiting in line to dance w you too. He'll plan trips on sea where you guys usually spend weeks in, playing chess, chasing each other around the ship, and him teaching you how to steer the ship, cooking together (which ends up with him burning the food so u have to start over again. not like he's doing it on purpose or anything *wink wink*). OMG ALSO. Reading a book together, taking turns reading per chapter. Cuddlesssss. LOTS. Especially in breaks. In the couch, ur bed, the lounge area. This man will try to spend every break of his spending his time w you.

B eauty - What do they admire about their s/o? What do they think is beautiful about them?

— whether you’re thin or plus sized, short or tall, whatever race you are, he loves you. he goes into extra simp-mode whenever you smile bc he just loves seeing u happy, most specifically whenever he pulls out that smirk of his and whenever he tells you a joke or whispers an insult to you abt one of the guards. He's also in love w your personality and how shockingly kind you are, sarcasm, how understanding and empathetic you are, how easily you make someone feel at ease. but, at the same time knowing that you have the ability to kill someone with your eyes closed makes him a lil giggly too.

C omfort - How would they help their s/o when they feel down/have a panic attack etc.?

— you had gotten pretty used to a queen's life, but things do have the ability to get overwhelming. like, you feel all that “it feels like i can’t breathe” crap, and he knows it too. so he showers u w kisses, gives u rest, cuddles, and voluntarily does ur work for u.

if someone disrespects u—now this is a different story. he might be a respectful man and is humble when someone disrespects him, but if people fail to give his queen the respect that he expects, then he might as well kill them. you would do the same when it comes to him.

D reams - How do they picture their future with their s/o?

— he’s a family man. he wants to marry you so bad, give you all the treasures of the world that exists. whenever he sees you playing w kids or making them laugh, he absolutely melts. while he feels insecure over the possibility of disappointing your children and raising them wrong, and most of all disappointing you, you couldn’t disagree more. seeing him worried abt it shows how much he cares, and that was enough proof.

E qual - Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?

— i kind of see you as the dominant one. i mean, ofc, ur not controlling him or anything. he just likes feeling like he isn’t the one in charge all of the time. but overall, it’s equal. plus, he is a SIMP for stubborn and independent women like u.

F ight - Would they be easy to forgive their s/o? How are they fighting?

— yeah, he would forgive you no matter what u did. he’s the kind to not go to sleep mad at you, so he would make you two talk abt it. not that he’s pushing you, it’s just it’s more better that way, especially since he wants to take ur relationship seriously and sees this as a mature thing. those nights would usually consist of awkward silence but nonetheless, one of u guys give in and apologize.

G ratitude - How grateful are they in general? Are they aware of what their s/o is doing for them?

— as most of u know, nikolai wasn’t the favorite child. he barely got anything, especially love and affection. until u. u loved him endlessly and he finds himself feeling chosen for once, even teary eyed sometimes, when he’s with you. he didn’t think that was possible. and in response, he will throw u fetes, gift u an abundant amount of jewels and presents, and even names things after you.

he points at the bushes like a child. “oh look, love, flowers!”

u giggle. “i see them. they’re beautiful.”

“not as beautiful as my lovely, lovely Y/N” he gushed and kissed you. “i shall name them after you nonetheless.”

and would even go as far as naming stars, events, fetes, jewelry, gems, even your own children (which u refuse) after you.

H onesty - Do they have secrets they hide from their s/o? Or do they share everything?

—a BIG BOLD NO for keeping secrets from each other. you tell each other everything, no matter how embarrassing, which usually comes with a lot of teasing. so, yes, you both share everything.

I nspiration - Did their s/o change them somehow, or the other way around? Like trying out new things or helped them overcome personal problems?

—ur kind of an uptight person ngl. being a former general and having Ravka as ur responsibility—u refused to sleep. however, nikolai lantsov did not like seeing u like this, and u learned from him that sometimes u have to take breaks and have fun every once in a while.

J ealousy - Do they get jealous easily? How do they deal with it?

— YES. as much as he hates to admit it, it is SO OBVIOUS. u were talking to a general from a different kingdom in a ball. nikolai dropped his current conversation, strolled over to y’all, grabbed u by the waist and kissed ur temple, all while glaring knives at the general.

K iss - Are they a good kisser? What was the first kiss like?

—um...y e s. he’s experienced, definitely. ur first kiss was before u started dating and it was during an argument😏(yall wattpad babes know where this is going). u were frustrated w him for skipping too many meetings with kingdoms with queens asking for alliances through marriage, and when he tried to argue back, he couldn’t help but cup ur face w both of his hands. he stared at for a while, then he u kissed you. in fact, that’s how most of ur arguments go, which isn’t fair, but then again, nikolai likes seeing u flustered and u love it when he kisses u.

L ove Confession - How would they confess to their s/o?

—it wouldn’t be extravagant or anything, surprisingly. u both were at the palace’s rooftop, tilting ur heads towards the rain. u were sitting down, legs hanging over the edge, and smiling at the sky. nikolai was standing up, hovering over u when he felt his heart beat rapidly than usual. he had to sit down next to u to have a closer look at u. when u noticed his heavy breaths, u opened ur eyes and he immediately clashed his lips w urs and said those three words.

M arriage - Do they want to get married? How do they propose? What would the marriage be like?

—hell yes he wants to be Mr. Lantsov-L/N. this time, he does do something extravagantly. he knew ur favorite part of the palace was the gardens, but u LOVED his ship. so on the morning u were on ur way back home from a vacation on the ship, he decorated the ship w flowers, woke u up and led u outside. he knelt down with the ring and had a big speech with tears flooding his view. u were crying too and in fact, u couldn’t stop.

“y/n, love, i need some sort of answer besides ur sobs.” he sniffed.

u giggled uncontrollably. “yes!”

N icknames - What do they call their s/o?

—love, y/n/n, bee (bc ur adorable until provoked), my love, lovely, beautiful, moya tsaritsa, koroleva, milaya.

O n Cloud Nine - What are they like when they are in love? Is it obvious for others? How do they express their feelings?

—giggly, blushy, soft, and daydreamy to the point where he would drop everything he’s doing and caress ur hair, play footsies w u, or intertwine a finger with urs and in return u play with his rings. AND HE ALWAYS LOOKS MESMERIZED UGH😍

—lots of PDA, but he won’t do anything to embarrass u. he would kiss u, caress u, play w ur hair, lean on u, hug u, hold ur hand, or touch u in anyway really. and omg he absolutely LOVES showing u off, to his friends, co-workers, guests. he’ll be in a bad mood in front of tolya, tamar, genya, david, and the rest when u walk in asking for something when he suddenly perks up and brightens his mood.

Q uirk - Some random ability they have that’s beneficial in a relationship.

—he knows what u like and don’t like, who u like and don’t like, what u need in a bad day, etc. he has u memorized. if he had time, he could write a manual on u. so it’s a relief u don’t have to tell him u don’t like something bc he knows by the look on ur face or the change in ur tone.

R omance - How romantic are they? What would they do to make their s/o happy? Cliché or rather creative?

—creative af. there was a point where he asked what ur former lovers did for u and u told him, not paying attention to why he did, and he did those things better. he bought u a carriage? well, nikolai made u ship. he bought u ur favorite treats on ur bad days? well nikolai hired the pastry chef as ur own chef.

S upport - Are they helping their s/o achieve their goals? Do they believe in them?

—he supports u a lot. he spends Ravka’s money just to help sponsor charities u host. he’s ur biggest supporter and ur his.

T hrill - Do they need to try out new things to spice out your relationship? Or do they prefer a certain routine?

—nothing too risky that’s out of ur comfort zone. look, i don’t need to explain but he is the perfect guy and if he makes u uncomfortable it would make him want to throw himself into the ocean. even if he really wanted to do something w u or to you and u don’t want to, he won’t push.

U nderstanding - How good do they know their partner? Are they empathetic?

—like i said, he knows you like the back of his hand. BUT. the first few years of dating he’s obviously still studying you, so there are a lot of confusion for him when all of a sudden you stopped talking. but after a few years then he’ll definitely get the hang of u.

—important enough that, let’s say, u get held hostage. nikolai would drop everything, even sell Ravka for u. it’s you that’s irreplaceable.

when he does get there – he finds out the duck has a beanie and has a white ring appear around it that flashes to life before fading out after picking it up, signifying it was the right thing to get

at first he doesn't really notice the ring, "oh! that animation is different than normal" he notes, but mainly focuses on the beanie, comparing it to himself before he glances at chat to see them freaking out over the planet duck reference

then he's just talking about it, shocked of course but flattered, and then you type in chat "you helped me a ton with things I couldn't decide during this game, I couldn't not add you! :)" everyone's just :(((( !!! /pos

tommy however, not to much, proud of you bc that must've been a ton of work!! but at some time it slipped his mind that you make indie and horror games; I think we all know he doesn't do well with horror games

so you liking horror and such made the textures look more ominous and just make it look like and area you don't want to be in, and the spook goes up even more with the shader!! it's darker than usual, there's unusual fog, the portals look too dangerous now, so on and so forth yk

so,, tommy didn't use the texture pack for long;;

if you ever raid him after you're done streaming and he has a question, he's literally just gonna ask you on stream

its literally all based off his lore,, if you get close to obsidian and crying obsidian fallen down from Undertale starts playing, if you splash water on yourself 1) you get hurt 2) your screen blacks out and when it comes back, your in a different place than before, some things art taken, maybe a few extra things are added

and there's a 50% chance that when you go into your "enderwalk" state (the blackout) you blow something up, so there may or may not be an explosion somewhere nearby, you also have a 20% chance of building something small in you enderwalk state :)

will make sure to take care of yourself, and he has a through way of telling if you have or not bc he's known you for long enough to know that even if you try to hide it a little bit of your tired voice shows so he knows if you've been sleeping like you should

hxh headcanon/imagine.

again... still about hisoillu but about their engagement instead of illu's influenced fashion choice.

also this is more of... idk it gave reason why they chose to marry instead of uh other ways i guess??

i've seen so many fanarts where illu would break the news to the zoldycks or how killu would react to having hisoka as his brother in law- like srsly it's meme worthy at this point- and lotsa ones that showed how hisoka proposed as a joke or smtg but... I've been overthinking abt it these past few days sO i present to you how i think "the big question aka the proposal" happened... (manga spoilers??)

it's after hisoka resurrected himself obviously, and def after he killed kortopi and shalnark (so he knew there was gonna be empty slots in the spiders' lineup)

i imagine illu went back to the zoldyck estate after the whole fiasco and only heard of hisoka's "death" from rumors while he was on a mission

and then when he was idk maybe contemplating on whether or not he should visit the body(?) to pay respects or something, he gets a text message from the devil himself

their text went like this probably:

hisoka: hey~ where are you right now?♠️ (and no u can't tell me hisoka doesn't text w card suits u just can't-)

illumi: who are you and how did you get the phone you are currently using?

hisoka: ooh~ illu~ i feel betrayed, did you delete my number?♣️

illumi: hisoka is dead

hisoka: *image attached*

illumi: oh

illumi: hello hisoka, how are you still alive?

hisoka: you sound disappointed~♦️

illumi: i kind of am...

hisoka: rude, just tell me where you are♥️

...and that's how they met up?? ngl i think illu has a know-it-all syndrome where he just has to,,, k n o w everything

he's curious so he agrees to the meetup ofc

he's also surprised when he sees hisoka is in good shape when they meet (idk at a bar in an unknown city?)

they drink whiskey on the rocks because... you know...

hisoka explains how he survived and his next plan of action (which is terminate the spiders)

illumi makes a mental note of nen after death bc he's heard and seen it all before but... not to this extent,

this is gonna be,,, bland but i think this is the logic behind why hisoka chose to get married/engaged instead of just paying up front (reference to the ten dons' commission to get chrollo killed and chrollo's commission to get the ten dons killed)--

anyways here's how their conversation goes:

i: "why did you want to talk in person?"

h: "oh y'know, for old times sake."

i: "...right"

hisoka laughs, "okay so maybe i want to ask you for a favor..?"

confused, illumi asks, "why could you not have just texted if you wanted me to kill someone for you?"

h: "no, no- wait, actually, you're not too far off."

i: ~mOrE cOnfUsiOn~ "huh?"

h: "how do contracts for assassination work in your... family business?"

i: "half the promised pay before, the remaining half afterwards. should the target be eliminated by a third party, the assigned zoldyck still gets the pay and should the employer die, then the contract is terminated and the zoldyck will report back immediately."

h: "and has anyone made a contract to have themselves terminated?"

i: "i beg your pardon?"

h: "what complications will arise should your employer's target be... themselves?"

i: "i believe... i have never encountered such circumstance before. the people who hire us are those who have enough money and resource to have their enemies killed quickly. no one's tried to test the zoldyck assassination prowess."

h: "so... how will that work?"

i: "are you implying this is the reason why you have contacted me today?"

h: "yes~ ♥️" (how he said a heart emoji out loud is up to you, reader)

i: "it will be a pointless paradox. logically, the zoldyck will only get the employment bill. and i, myself, do not find pleasure in going for the kill like you lest i get my reward, so you will not get a contract out of me, hisoka."

h: "is there no leeway?"

i: "a zoldyck stands up to their word. so no."

h: "even for a friend?~ ♦️"

i: "we are not friends, hisoka-"

hisoka raises his glass of whiskey along with his eyebrow.

i: "oh..."

h: "didn't you tell dear killua that a zoldyck didn't need friends?"

i: "you... are an associate, someone reliable in the killing world. it's different."

h: "hypocrite"

i: "i ask you for favors and you make me return them. it is not like we spend our time together leisurely like killu with that island boy..."

hisoka clinks their matching glasses of whiskey even though his is already empty, a shit-eating grin on his lips.

i: "you suggested we meet here."

h: "this isn't the first time we went out to drink, right illu?"

i: "regardless!! i will not kill you just for half the money. i do not like wasting efforts on fruitless missions."

h: "as i said, is there no exception, to make sure you get my money if you were to succeed in killing me?"

i: "are you doubting my skill, hisoka?"

h: "that's not the point right now~ ♠️"

i: "wait, why do you want me to get all of your money?"

h: "haven't we just gotten over this subject? because you're my friend, of course."

i: "i... we are not friends, hisoka."

hisoka claps, "that's it! illumi!! ♣️"

i: "eh?"

h: "marry me! that way in our prenup I'll make sure you get all of my money, and even without a prenup you'll still get it since you'll be my only relative! that solves it!"

i: "hisoka, are you sure death did not took a toll on your brain? you did say you used Bungee Gum only on your heart and lungs..."

h: "i'm being serious, illumi!! and doesn't this solve your earlier conflict? we don't have to be friends, we'll be husbands!"

i: "do not use that tactic with me, you manipulative bastard. stop joking."

h: "this is purely beneficial for you, honestly i don't get why you just won't accept it."

i: "then humor me this first, why now?"

h: "dear illu, i've been to literal hell and back. i think it's time to leave my mark in case i fail to escape death again."

i: "was it that bad?"

h: "you'll love it there, illu~ ♥️"

h: "on a more serious note, though, i do plan to marry you. out of everyone i've encountered, you're the most eligible candidate. you're powerful, fully capable and extremely pretty to boot! you're the ideal husband!"

(blushing obviously, illumi downs the remaining whiskey in his glass) i: "death has changed you, hisoka."

h: "so?"

i: "fine."

h: "excellent!"

and in one fell swoop, illumi has a pin against the curve of hisoka's jugular, wrist held tightly by hisoka- a card matching against his own neck.

"not yet, dear husband." hisoka whispered into his ear, "we have to manage the papers first. and i've a request before you do."

they let each other go at the same time, not even breathing an unnecessary breath in the other's personal space (well, they're nearly pressed thigh to thigh anyways, what's the point of personal space anymore-)

"a condition rather than a request, really."

"what?" hisoka orders them refills, and downs his when it arrives.

"join the ryodan first."

glass already pressed on thin lips, illumi's confused hum resonates softly into the concave utensil. "why?"

"so things can get more interesting. i assume you know of the dark continent expedition that's soon to take place?"

"father has advised i take part on it, since kalluto told me the ryodan plans to rob some cliches who'll join the expedition- to look after him. you want me to join them?"

"yes, and i plan to board as well, don't fret."

illumi's eyes turn to slits, "how should i know you would be there? i can't take your word when you might just disappear when we've all boarded."

hisoka grins, wide then wider, "you should know by now illu, i plan to avenge my wounded pride. that damned chrollo didn't even fight me properly."

tilting his head, illumi stared at the man beside him, "is that not contradictory? i thought you did not mind your opponent using whatever means necessary to win?"

"magicians use tricks and misdirection to awe the audience," hisoka says almost thoughtlessly, "chrollo's a narcissistic hypnotist who used the audience as a damned shield because he knew he couldn't handle me face-to-face."

he groans, tinged in regret. "i shouldn't have picked heaven's arena, if i'd chosen a more discreet location then maybe the damage won't be this bad."

"damage?" illumi rests his chin on his palm, facing his husband.

hisoka swipes a hand over his face, and the glamour comes off. the picture he sent illumi now present in front of him. he was missing a nose, his left hand didn't have any finger left and dried blood chipped on his white skin. "oh."

with another swipe, everything's made correct again. hisoka was grinning again. he downs the remaining alcohol and leaves jenny bills under the emptied glass.

"come, lovely husband. we're to elope and legalize our union!"

illumi follows suit after downing his own glass, "i think there might be another loop hole, if you were to join the family. zoldycks do not kill family."

"so if i were to wed you, here and now, you'd think me more of a family than alluka?"

"alluka is not family."

"are those your words, illumi? or silva's?"

"i..."

"wow, you're really just as fucked up as i am."

"where do you plan to take me? i've just said i cannot kill family."

hisoka chuckles, "then you're the one to take my name, of course."

"preposterous!"

"who the hell still uses that word?"

"i am and will always be a zoldyck-"

"exactly. it's just legal papers, if you kill me then you'll just be a widow and even get your name back! see how everything'll work out in the end?"

"hisoka-"

"are you doubting your skill of assassination, my dearest husband?"

"that's the spirit! now let's go get married!"

"wait, hisoka. what is your last name?"

later that night, when they leave a chapel, something gold glimmers on hisoka's bungee gum/texture surprise ring finger. a matching one around illumi's finger.

unlike hisoka, though, illumi had an extra red glimmer right under that gold, in the dead center of a silver band of intricately designed pattern. hisoka had foregone the traditional diamond in favor of a 16 carat ruby engagement ring, such a curious choice but illumi accepted it all the same...

(much later on, hisoka took both rings as collateral and reminded illumi that he would get them back even if he died bc it was in their damn prenup- and bc it was technically bought under illumis name and that's how hisoka assured illu that he'd be on that black whale,,, bc he had the rings and planned to give them back to him there)

"I thought a red gemstone was better suited for the rather bloody and murderous ending that our relationship will inevitably come to, wouldn't you agree?"

Y'know, after feeling low and overwhelmed for so long, I'm in a pretty good mood right now, and I figured I'd spread some of that positivity, just in case you've been feeling crappy too.

Let's start off with the day I met you.

It was Christmas break 2018. I hadn't got my blog just yet (that was Feb. 2019), so I was just a little helpless anonymous exploring the Eric Cartman tag on tumblr.

Then, I stumbled across your blog.

It literally changed my life.

I always thought I was weird for liking Cartman the way I did, overthinking every characteristic about him, and just in general fanboying (not in that way ofc, A:not gay, B:hes 10 lmfao) over someone who I originally when I started watching had a hatred for.

But you helped me realize that it's not so weird.

I had the courage to send my first anonymous ask.

The ask that started it all.

It's crazy to think had I not sent that, we wouldn't have started this friendship, and maybe I wouldn't be here on this site to this very day.

This friendship was the best Christmas gift I could've ever asked for.

We would communicate through anonymous asks, and lots of other things.

Then the day came in 2019 that I finally got my blog.

I quickly rushed to your blog, and sent my first message, and followed you instantly.

I followed a few other Cartman/SP blogs I came across too.

These past three years of our friendship have been so amazing.

Always getting off a boring and long day at school, but opening up my phone, and almost always seeing

It'd been a few days since the party at the boneyard and you were meeting up with the pogues soon as per JJ's request.

You’d hung out with them before but something felt off about this time, Kie had been texting you all morning making extra sure that you were coming.

She was never usually this concerned about if you'd be coming or not, it was usually just one message about a half hour before you were supposed to meet but today your phone was buzzing non-stop.

Kie 🌺✨: So ur coming today right?

You: ofc 💞 meeting at John B's place right?

Kie 🌺✨: Yes but wear something cute 👀

You: okayyyyy

You: why tho? 👀

Kie 🌺✨: For the group pics obviously 👀

You: sounds fake but ok bby 😌✨ I'll dress cute... only for you tho 😉

She was definitely up to something, you could tell, she never cared how you dressed especially not when all you were doing was meeting up with her friends.

Deciding not to worry about it, you threw your phone onto your bed and started to get ready.

Settling on your favourite white crop top, the one with a daisy embroidered in the middle you pulled it on along with a pair of denim shorts and your white converse, that had become dirty from the amount of wear and tear they'd been through since you got them.

The posing you were doing in front of your mirror was interrupted by your phone chiming yet again.

JJ Maybank: Hi.

JJ Maybank: Kie gave me ur number

JJ Maybank: She told me to ask u to bring snacks

You: Sure I'll stop by the store on my way

You: Any preference?

JJ Maybank: Whatever is fine with me princess

You: Alright I'll see what I can do

JJ Maybank: Wait get chips

You: What's the magic word? 🥺

JJ Maybank: Are u really gonna make me do this princess?

You: I mean if you want ur chips 👀

JJ Maybank: Remember when I told you I didn't hate you? I take it back

Laughing at his response you grabbed your purse and left your house, making your way to the store.

You couldn't lie, you enjoyed messing with JJ. Now that you had his number you had a feeling that the two of you were going to be annoying each other on a whole other level now.

When you arrived at the store you made sure to stock up on snacks, buying extra chips as an attempt to ensure today stays peaceful between you and JJ.

Soon enough you found yourself at John B's front door, knocking on the frame gently.

Kie answered the door with a bright smile, giving you a hug before pulling you inside.

"Did you bring snacks?" Was the first thing you heard as Kie ushered you into the chateau. You let out an airy laugh and held up the plastic bag in your hand for JJ to see, "As promised."

"Great! Both of you go sit down." Kie instructed and you obliged, sitting down on John B's couch and placing the bag of snacks in-between yourself and JJ who immediately started rummaging through the bag, you watched intently as he pulled out a bag of chips with a big smile on his face, "These are my favorite!"

Nodding your head at the boy you looked at him with a mockingly parental look, trying your best to hide the smirk forming on your lips, "That's what happens when you say please, sweetheart."

JJ scoffed before looking around the room in confusion, "Where'd the others go?"

Neither of you had noticed Kie and John B sneak out the front door and realization washed over the both of you as you heard the engine of John B's van running.

The pair of you scurried out to the porch, watching as the van moved away and Kie stuck her head out the window, "We're going to get beer, we'll probably be a while! You two should talk while we're gone! Bye!" She shouted before John B hit the gas and the van sped off.

Sighing you looked at JJ with an unimpressed expression, "Guess we're talking then."

"Seems like it." The boy muttered crankily, following you into the house.

Spending time with you meant getting to know you and getting to know you would eventually lead to falling for you. JJ couldn't let that happen. But he had no choice, he'd rather talk to you than spend hours in silence waiting for his friends to return.

"Do you wanna play 20 questions?" You asked, breaking the awkward silence that has settled over the both of your once you returned to your seats on the couch.

JJ let out a huff, looking at you with his eyebrow raised, "What are we? Twelve?"

Letting out a scoff you couldn't help but roll your eyes, "You sure do act like it."

"Fine. You ask first." He sighed, sinking into the couch and digging into the chips you'd brought.

"Alright, start off easy… What's your favorite hobby?" The blond boy beside you shook his head and leaned his elbows on his knees, turning his head to look at you, "Surfing. My turn. What did you mean the other night when you asked me what age you were when it all started going wrong?" He fired, the question had been locked and loaded in his mind since the night at the boneyard.

"It's kind of a bummer, you sure you wanna get into it?" You questioned, catching your lip between your teeth.

The boy only nodded, staring at you expectantly, "Well, when I was thirteen my mom got really sick, she's been in and out of hospitals on the mainland for the past three years, my dads never left her side so I don't see much of either of them anymore. She's in some private hospital on the mainland right now, we're pretty sure she won't be getting out again." You explained numb to the situation, it'd been three years of you pretty much raising yourself, your dad kept up with the bills and put money into your credit card but he hadn't actually been home with you unless your mom was healthy enough to be there too, but she hadn't been home in the last year which meant neither had he.

"Shit…" JJ murmured, looking at you sympathetically to which you shook your head at him and gave him a tight smile. You really didn't want anyone's sympathy.

"It's fine. But I guess to give you an answer to the question, everything started going wrong when I was thirteen." You added on casually as if you hadn't just opened up about your dying mother seconds earlier.

"My turn." You stated, keeping eye contact and asking, "Why don't you want to get close to me?"

His little speech the other night had left an impact on you, you wanted to know what was so bad about you that made befriending you so awful.

JJ sighed heavily, shrugging his shoulders, "It's complicated, I've got a reputation here on the cut y'know? And you've got yours on figure eight. We just shouldn't mix."

You didn't bother trying to hide your confused expression, you both knew that that was bullshit.

"Maybe we shouldn't. But since when have you ever gone by the rules of society?" You piqued up.

"Hey it's not your turn anymore, you already asked your question." He butted in, throwing a chip at you.

"Fine, you go but we're getting back to that one." You warned him, making him chuckle in response.

"After you asked me when things started going wrong, you said something else…" JJ threaded carefully, having a sinking feeling that he knew what you meant by the question in the first place but the curiosity was killing him.

You nodded patiently waiting for him to continue, you knew what he was about to ask and you mentally prepared yourself to give him an answer.

"So… why can't you wear dresses to parties?" He finished, his voice gentle but his eyebrow raised.

Swallowing thickly you fidgeted with the hem of your crop top, "Last year at a kook party-" You started, shifting your eyes away from JJ's, focusing on your legs instead, "-One of Rafe Cameron's friend's, he was a senior and I had just finished freshman year, well anyway I was wearing this cute little dress and he told me he really liked it so we started hanging out and the next thing you know he was kissing me and that was all good and fine, it was really great actually." You retold to JJ, pausing for a second to glance at his eyes that were looking at you intently, his bottom lip between his teeth.

Heaving out a heavy sigh you ran a hand through your hair before finishing the story, "But then his hands were all over me and I didn't really know how to feel, yanno? I was a virgin and I'd never had a guy be into me like that so I let him go on. Until he literally tore my dress right off me and I knew then that I definitely wasn't ready for what he wanted. So I told him to stop and he flipped out on me, called me a tease and a slut and told me that if I didn't want to be fucked then I shouldn't have dressed like it. And that is why I can no longer wear dresses to parties."

You couldn't figure out the look on the boys face, it was an expression that was a mixture between anger and sadness and something else that you couldn’t quite place.

"Who was the guy?" He inquired, his voice dangerously calm.

The story made him angry, he hated when guys thought they could just take advantage of people, he couldn't lie and say that it didn't especially bother him that it had happened to you.

You just shrugged again, "Doesn't matter. Pretty sure he moved to the mainland for college." You explained seemingly unbothered, the same way you had been after answering the last question and JJ wasn't having any of it.

"It does matter though, why do you do that?" He wondered out loud, scooting closer to you on the couch while you avoided eye contact.

"Because JJ, if I start acting like it's a big deal it's going to become a big deal and I don't want a fuss over something that happened to me in the past while other people have bigger things to worry about." The blond beside you nodded in understanding at your statement, he got that, he felt the exact same way and he realized that the pair of you were a lot more alike than he thought.

"Just don't tell Kie or John B okay? I'm only telling you because I let it slip at the boneyard, you're the only one that knows." You whispered, finally meeting his blue eyes.

He nodded with furrowed brows, "Secrets safe with me, princess."

Giving him a tight smile you spoke up again trying to lighten the heavy atmosphere, "If you weren't so stubborn I think you and I would be really great friends."

JJ laughed, taking off his red cap and running his hand through his hair before placing the cap back on his head, "You know what you're probably right-" The boy let out and exaggerated sigh before going on, "Screw it. We're friends now, princess." He stated with so much authority that you had to laugh.

"Wow and all it took was my tragic origin story? If only I’d known sooner." You said sarcastically, shoving his shoulder with your own.

JJ laughed and so did you, it was so strange, if someone had told you a week ago that you'd be playing a way too personal game of 20 questions with JJ Maybank you would've laughed in their face and asked if they were stoned. But it felt oddly comfortable in the moment.

The giggling was hushed by your phone buzzing with a message from Kie.

Kie 🌺✨: We're on our way back

"They're coming back." You turned your head to face JJ who was smirking mischievously, "Should we fuck with them?" He asked you while scooting closer to you and looking at your phone screen.

"Oh absolutely, here." You agreed handing him your phone watching as he began to text Kie.

You: Take ur time 😉

Kie 🌺✨: What's with the winky face?

You: No reason 👀

Kie 🌺✨: omg Y/n what happened? 😳

"What should we tell her?" JJ snickered and you gasped excitedly, "Oh my God, tell her that we "bonded" but put a bunch of sex emojis after it."

"Brilliant." He commented under his breath as he began typing again.

You: Oh nothing, me and JJ just did some bonding 😌🥵👅🍆💦

Kie 🌺✨: Oh god please tell me you didn't…

Laughing at her response, you snatched the phone back from JJ, leaning close to him so he could still watch the screen and started typing, unable to contain your laughter.

You: Oh yeah, we bonded reeeeeaaaallll good. Right here on John B's couch 😜

"They're gonna be real smug about this working." JJ chimed in and you nodded in agreement.

"True. But I'm kinda glad it did." You confessed almost shyly, not trying to inflate his ego.

To your surprise JJ nodded in agreement, "Yeah you're not so bad after all. But we gotta keep this low-key, I don't want the other guys on The Cut thinking I'm a kook sympathizer." He muttered dramatically with a grin.

"Oh of course not, stays between us and the pogues." You stated with a grin to match his.

The boy reached a closed fist towards you, "Truce?" He offered up hopefully.

"Truce." You told him, bumping your fist to his gently with a smile.

Things had always been complicated between yourself and JJ but you had a feeling that it was only going to get messier from here.

on twitter i'm really vocal about yibo's appropriation of black hairstyles/clothing to the point where i'm blocked by majority of big mtjj accounts cause they're antiblack and would rather harass us instead of just listen to what we're saying about the issue. appropriation of black culture is so widespread in cent/kpop that its not like dropping or canceling one specific artist would even solve anything (tho ofc its up to an individual if they wanna keep following that artist or not). personally i just think yibo's just a fanboy who wants to fuck asap rocky and is largely harmless but that doesn't mean that we can't talk about why wearing durags and shitty fake dreads is wrong

as for the blackface thing: it's apparently an image from some upcoming military propaganda movie. so theres a leaked image released of a solider in blackface that people said was him. the only image i saw was so blurry i literally couldn't tell who it was (and the fuckin,, paint wasn't helping) so i'm not going to jump the gun until it's confirmed especially cause there's so many gossip accounts right now purposely trying to stir up shit related to him and xz. and this would not be the first time 'leaks' were spread that turned out to be false or photoshopped. but if it is him that's that u know lmao i'm not so emotionally attached to celebs that i can't drop em if they fuck up that hard. i think these propaganda movies are just something we all usually look away from when it comes to c-ent since it's like. kinda required for them especially the more popular they are and i def feel like they're using him to y'know. Lately... It seems as if I happen to trigger intense rage, irritability and harsh criticism in my mom. It's happening a lot

As an example, today she returned from a visit to her friend, in high spirits and happy. However, within a minute or so of talking to me, she suddenly brought up a past issue involving me, and well, the rest is history. Screaming, face contorted with anger, and man, I didn't wanna get into it with her so I tried to placate her (eg by not screaming back (which is the hardest thing when the other person has a habit of doing so y'know?)) And all the while, I disassociated (literally tugged my brain back into my body to be mindful and actually ASSESS wth was going on, what in me has unleashed this anger?), and I even asked her "u just came back in a good mood, why are you getting angry over [issue] rn?" U know what I got? Criticism and rage that'd make ur toes curl. Again, the criticism/remarks etc ain't the critical points here. The point is: right in front of my eyes, I saw a happy person morph into real anger within seconds, in which they themselves seemed to make themselves angry by purposely (or perhaps subconsciously? Again, with the law and all, I'm working on understanding conflicts instead of deep diving in and becoming asleep/robotic. Not much success yet xD) bringing up a matter that's upsetting for me and, as can be deduced from above, triggering fury (and destroying the peace and calm from her visit) in her. This time was highly distressful and hurtful for me (maybe coz I decided to witness a bit in this interaction, so noted how she switched her emotions so uncannily fast). Maybe this happens, not only to her, but to all of us, any of us, even you and me, when we let go of our power and surrender to being controlled 'by' our emotions and thoughts? Perhaps this hammers in the need to be more aware of ourselves

Idk. It still hurts. And I feel bad for 'triggering' her (tho ofc I now don't blame her for being controlled by her emotions/beliefs)

Btw, I also noted this: when I asked her why she was getting angry (coz did I mention it was kinda freaky?), she had no real reason, and as if an automatic program were being played, she started telling me how uh... amazing... I was 😉

Anyway, ur thoughts on this? What's within so without. What do I need to look at inside?

Okay first of all just because you are creating your reality doesn’t mean you’ll let other people step on you like a door mat. Speak up, tell her you didn’t like how she spoke to you, tell her how it makes you feel. The best thing you can manifest for yourself is feeling safe to express your thoughts and feelings.

Second, there’s obviously one or more underlying beliefs about your mother, since as I understand this behavior is tied only with her. You need to figure out what you believe about her that would cause her to act that way and then use affirmations to flip it.

favorite thing about them

first of all: the fact that Green canonically has a rivals to best friends arc with Red fills me with so much joy and YES they are on their alolan honeymoon you cannot convince me otherwise

okay like. gen 1 Green just perfectly encompasses what it’s like to be a ten year old in a way? like ofc he’s written like a kid bc he is a kid, but i feel like the writing on him just feels so genuine as compared to some of the other 10 yr old rivals you get in other regions. even though he’s kinda a brat at the start, he kinda eases up a bit as you go along your journey and starts giving you progressively nicer/more praise-y end lines when you beat him (going from “i picked the wrong pokémon!” to “so, you are ready for boss rocket!”) but still retains this childlike rivalry and competitiveness and i love that about him

and like. fucking beating him at the Indigo League still completely breaks my heart because even after he did become the champion at age 10 the first thing that happens is you beat him and Prof Oak just yells at him for being bad at things and like. ow.

this is why i headcanon that Red actually took awhile longer to get to Green like please. please give my boy a chance to be happy and proud

also Red was caught up with Team Rocket anyway so i imagine he must’ve fallen a little behind at some point? anyway

the development on him across regions is so choice!!! he’s so much more mellow and even kinda melancholic when you find him in gsc/hgss, like he’s calmed down over a few years and he obviously misses Red so much but like, it’s clear that Red is kinda the reason Green does settle down and he seems to have worked on his character and become a nicer person - and he still has that sassy flair to him! he’s just got that gradual slope from asshole rival to kinda aloof gym leader to friendly/sassy battle legend and aaaaa i love my boy so MUCH

also huge point: he’s so fucking driven??? he’s got the most drive and the most passion for battles/pokémon in general out of all the rivals i feel. he’s only closely matched by Silver, but Silver seems to be more aggressive than passionate, and somewhat out of necessity too (like, Giovanni abandoned him what was he to do), whereas Green just really like. he genuinely just cares so much about battles and about pokémon in general! he literally calls you in hgss and just rants about how many different kinds of pokémon there are in the world!!!

also in Alola he’s like???? just so sweet?????? he congratulates you and is like hey you’re really strong lets battle like!!!!!!!!! supportive boy!!!!! he has come so far over so many generations and i cry

also on Four Island when you play frlg he legitimately says “Be smelling ya!” when he leaves and how do you not love this idiot

least favorite thing about them

i mean. while i get that you beat Green right after he becomes the champion in the kanto games i feel like there should’ve been more pomp and circumstance for him and i’ll never forgive gamefreak for giving this boy his dream, then making you rip it away from him, and then watching his own gramps yell at him for fucking up like. again it’s that drive, i get why Red keeps such good pace w Green but i just feel like he worked so hard and he deserved so much better than that

also while i’m very biased towards him bc Big Emotions, i feel like if i knew this boy irl who was constantly i’m so great and you’re a loser i would probably punch him eventually lmao. in theory it’s kinda endearing but as a real person that’d be grating

like they perfectly balance each other. Green has all this energy and all this spunk and Red is just like… so opposite of him y'know? he’s quiet and he’s more measured in his behavior i feel, he doesn’t really rush into things as much, and yet they both really just took Kanto by storm when they were kids, and i like how they have this foil dynamic and are both still so successful? they’re so different and they complement each other in that way, and they both find success in their own ways

like one of the reasons i hate that Green’s championship gets undersold so much is that he did beat you to the punch, and he has been one step ahead of you, and there’s so much passion there and it’s so loud - and yet you as Red are just as driven, you take down Team Rocket, you’re always right on his tail, so close but not quite there, you’re the only one who can keep up with him and you’re the only one he cares enough about to slow down for

while Red is still living on Mount Silver, Green is not coping well with having him so far away, and so Green massively overworks himself to the point that he keeps just not being in his gym sometimes bc he’s bouncing between the gym, training multiple teams, pokémon research, and ofc going to visit Red whenever he can. this leads him to be kinda temperamental after he’s been working on 2 hours of sleep a day for like a week until he just has an emotional meltdown and crashes, and then he gets right back into it because he has no self preservation

…….. nicer headcanon; Red can only cook two (2) foods, so Green cooks all the food for them when they move in together. he has attempted to teach Red how to cook, but Red pretends not to understand so Green will keep making him food. Green knows Red is faking it and doesn’t call him out bc he thinks it’s cute

look i’ve played through classic red version a few times and when i say he wasn’t that much of a jerk, i do genuinely mean he was not that much of a jerk. he’s like ten. ten year olds are just Like That. i guess this isn’t too unpopular anymore but it was Back In The Day and in some parts of the fandom he’s still seen as a jerk and like Bro He Is Ten In RGB/FRLG cut him some slack

favorite thing about them

by now i guess you know im a sucker for character development, but i think they did a really good job with her!! i feel like her turn is a bit more in moments than it is with Green, who gradually evolves (lol) over the course of Kanto/all the gens overall. you see more discrete moments where Lillie starts to shift and gain confidence in herself and i am so proud of her ???? like the way she gets excited when she sees Olivia doin’ her z-move stuff, she starts buying her own clothes and getting ahead of you, etc etc

and like, she still has moments where she’s scared, there’s still some fundamental Lillie in there yknow? you don’t lose any of that softness that characterizes Lillie, she just like… she gets better, she develops without losing her Lillie vibe and i love that abt her. she overcomes a lot of the shit she had to deal with when she was stuck with Lusamine, she stands up to Lusamine eventually, and ghfdkjsg gah she’s a sweet gorl i love and appreciate her

also like. the writing on her backstory is so subtle in-universe. like yeah she literally looks like Lusamine’s daughter and you see her in the opening cutscene leaving Aether, but as the protagonist - like as Selene lets say, there’s little hints about where Lillie came from, and if you suspend your disbelief and put yourself in the pc’s shoes, there’s subtly to her character arc that i like

also like. when she changes her outfit and starts being more protagonist-y, like more confident and kinda bubbly instead of shy??? love that shit it’s so cute can i have custody of this child pls

least favorite thing about them

i like. sometimes feel like she’s too soft of a character for me to really get into? like i love her and Hau, they’re sweet good friends, but i tend to personally gravitate towards characters that create a little more tension (ie Green and N)

(though on that note, Hau can be kinda savage. he just calls Faba out and sarcastically calls Gladion “a ray of sunshine” at some point i think?? Lillie is just very tender and i will support her forever, but i think that also makes her almost too soft to keep me fixated on her yknow. it’s not even a flaw in her character but just not something i fawn over as much)

favorite line

“I’m so glad I got to meet everyone. I’m so glad I got to meet you.”

like that ending kills me but that line almost feels like. I Feel That So Much like i feel so happy to have met all these new characters and to have played these games, and i feel like some of the player’s energy and enjoyment of the game is channeled into this last line of hers

probably her and Hau?? idk, i don’t have a specific brotp for her but i like her just hangin around w the other Alola kids, so like her, Hau, Gladion, and the protag kids. they’d raise hell together and Lillie continues to be the only one with some impulse control

(Gladion also has some impulse control but keeps getting annoyed by Hau and so he gets dragged into their nonsense anyway)

when donghyuck hates someone he HATES them

which was confusing a bit to you bc you couldve sworn you were smiling your winning smile to try and win him over but he wasnt won over

and from then on the glares and bumping began in the halls

and from then on you couldnt stand him

you had no idea what his problem was all you knew was he had a sly comment whenever you said anything and continuously glared daggers into your skull

so fuck hyuck ! AAAAA I HAD TO

you and your mutual hatred for hyuck made it a lil awkward for you guys to all hang out

like mark or any of the other dreamies wanted you to come over to the dorms they wpuld always have to go through the petty arguments yall had Y/N v hyuck !!

and one day after a huge argument over some dumb shit it was over what movie to watch smh mark sent donghyucks grumpy ass into the room to have a talk with him

so somehow with the help of jaemins very convincing smile you agreed to hang out with hyuck ... alone

so when donghyuck came out to apologize you said sorry too and offered the cute little 'friend date' idea jeno came up with

before donghyuck could say he would rather die mark stepped saying he agreed setting a time and date so you two can finally get to know eachother

you guys met up at a local cafe to study

and at first it seemed like it would be a complete disaster

but you both showed up trying your hardest not to be complete asses

you both ended up ordering the same thing which hyuck laugh a little

maybe mark was actually on to smth abt the similarity thing but he would never admit to mark being right

"wow maybe your laugh isnt annoying"

your comment making you both laugh

you guys continued the lil study session it getting more bearable over time

finding out abt that you guys have some of the same interests

like music, tv shows, movies ALL KINDS OF SHIT

yall were just clicking and it was surprising but nice

and it was almost time for you to go hone so hyuck panicked and said that he didnt understand a certain section of the notes so he asked of you could teach him it "even though your still dumb as shit"

he made sure to add so you wouldnt ofc get the wrong idea

"but coming from the dumb ass asking me for help but go off !"

and for the first time both of yohr insults were lighthearted and left hyuck feeling a little fuzzy inside and when you left he just sat there

like what the fuck was he doing he understood those notes he fucking wrote them he just wanted you be there back with him,,,, just the two of you

he couldnt stand being in the room with you but now he wanted to spend as much time with your bitchass as possible

so this continued for a couple of weeks

he continued not to understand things and help you with the things you understand too

his insults began to lose their edge and turned into things like 'u cute loser'

and he began texting you more often and somehow getting more touchy with you, offering to walk you home and playfully trying to hold your hand

mark ofc noticed how he would ask abt you more often and try his damn hardest to somehow wedge you into the convo

"so hyuck hows your study sessions Y/N going ??"

"fine, theyre pretty dumb"

mark turned around to scold him but he stopped bc he saw him,,,,, smiling,,,,, the lee donghyuck was smiling,,,,, all bc of you

and then. thats when mark knew.

"WHAT YOU TAKE THAT BACK I DO NOT LIKE THEM THATS FUCKING GROSS EW"

buuuuut mark saw right through him, hed known donghyuck for way too long so he pushed him more

"so you dont like anything abt them ??? at all ??"

"i mean they're not that bad i guess. kinda cute and funny and they have the cutest little giggle and they way they scrunch theyre nose an-"

so hyuck went to bed with a lot on his mind and ofc the next day he had to see you

on your study session he was weirdly quiet and wasnt giving you his usual witty retorts to any of your comments so you knew something was off

"hey hyuck is everything alright i know you really cant stand me but if theres something wrong im here to talk"

"HOLY SHIT I THINK IM IN LOVE WITH YOU"

shit shit shit he didnt mean to blurt it out like that you just looked extra cute that day and you were beong extra sweet and plus you used his nickname AND IT WAS TOO MUCH FOR HIM !!

as he went to apologize and desperately look for a way to cover it up

"HOLY SHIT I FEEL THE SAME WAY"

and he froze,,,,,,

"ITS JUST I THOUGHT YOU STILL HATED ME SO I WAS SCARED TO ADMIT IT BUT I REALLY LIKE BEING AROUND YOU AND YOURE SO CUTE HYUCK I JUST WANTED TO KISS YOU"

"OH MY GOD I WAS TOO SCARED YOU HATED ME STILL LIKE THATS WHY I DIDNT SAY ANYTHING BUT IT WAS KILLING ME BC MY GOD YOU ARE CUTE Y/N"

so basically you and hyuck screamed abt you guys liked eachother for a good 5 min until yall calmed down and just giggled

but it was already time for you to go so you asked him to walk you home in the quietest voice and his heart dropped

like yes !! you cute bitch !!

and he actually held your hand this time swinging it and lifting it up to kiss your hand every once in a while just to hear your giggle

and it was sooo nice to actually be able to express how he felt abt you

and once you reached your house, you gave him a quick peck on his lips holding his face in your hands

"now i want a real date you cute loser"

"whatever you say you adorable dork"

and with that donghyuck was off with the brightest smile on his face

until he remembered he would have to see tge dreamies and all their smug asses

but for now he'll just bask in the fact that the cutest person to walk the earth just kissed him
