Something about this interaction between Harry & Janeway - specifically Janeway but it's notable that Harry's the one listening because I think, say, Chakotay or B'Elanna might push back against the idolization of this 'it was different back in those days' way of thinking.
#Get the Tranq she's 'Good Old Boys'-ing!#never beating the Starfleet stooge accusations#which I think should have been brought up more between her and Chakotay#instead of just making Chakotay like Starfleet again so they can be together#the Tuvok/Chakotay/Janeway command trio should have been like#Janeway: I love Starfleet in an uncomplicated way and though it's painful sometimes I believe following code is the only way to proceed#Tuvok: I agree with the captain and this makes her believe in her decisions more - though I would attempt to obey her commands even if they#weren't regulation.#<- Janeway doesn't want to examine this#Chakotay: I hate Starfleet because of very valid reasons and I don't think following orders and codes from superiors is the best thing#in every situation. I want everyone here to examine their biases which cannot necessarily be done if biases are written into the#codes. We aren't in Starfleet space. We might have to adapt.#but it's nowhere near that nuanced bc you know. Starfleet Good. Starfleet Good. Starfleet Good. Maquis Bad. Maquis Bad. Maquis Bad.#Or you know: 'Maquis doing this the WROOONG way...violence isn't the answer :(' maybe violence is the answer sometimes.#when it's the only language the people in power understand.#maybe 'let's talk about this' is an insidious military tactic sometimes actually#Also Harry immediately going from 'They falsified logs?' to 'I always wondered it'd be like back then...~'#He and Janeway................Him and Janeway are!!! AGH#People think Harry's way too timid. They think this because he's asian and an ensign so they make him timid & obedient#But he's very willing to break or bend the rules - he's willing to fight he likes action and adventure and he's very similar to Janeway#where they'll both die and go to hell and come back just to save their crew - their friends - their family

I'm sure you'll get/have gotten other asks about this same thing, but I would love, love, love to know more about your ideas for a messy kidnap fam fic. :)
(also, accidently unfollowed when trying to hit the ask button. it's finally happened)
Ask me about my not-yet-written-fics from this list
The Messy Kidnap Fam Longfic
Under a cut for length
It all starts with Mae and Mags finding Elrond and Elros in Elwing's wardrobe post-oath-induced-rage fugue.
Elros and Elrond put up a hell of a fight to Not Get Taken and are absolutely convinced that a) Elwing has been murdered and b) they're also about to get murdered.
Maedhros gets bitten by Elros >:3
Mae and Mags have a debate about What To Do With them. I feel like maybe Mae initially is like "Put Those Back Where They Came From or So Help Me" at Mags, but the only idea they come up with is maybe leaving the twins at the edge of what's left of Sirion in the hopes that they'll be found (because if they tried to drop off the twins in person they'd get attacked on sight by Gil Galad and Cirdan). But Mae can't stop worrying that they'll die of exposure that way (he still feels awful about what happened to Elured and Elurin at Doriath).
They both realize at the exact same time that Elwing and Earendil Might Want Their Kids Back and Might Be Willing to Do A Lot to get them back, and so Elrond and Elros would be excellent hostages who could potentially be ransomed for a Silmaril.
So Elrond and Elros are very much hostages at this point. Mae and Mags do not really interact with them at all (save for Mags poking around in their minds to try and get some information out of them. Which Mae disapproves of but doesn't care enough about to stop him. He's in a bad way rn. Like his last other baby brother save Mags just died and he himself just participated in a massacre and he doesn't feel particularly good about it. They didn't even get a Silmaril and their own forces are fragmented post Sirion. My boy is barely keeping things together. They're together with duct tape and string at this point).
The twins are carted along the road back to Amon Ereb but kept under too heavy guard for them to be able to escape.
Also absolutely nobody in camp understands how to look after Peredhil. The twins do not get enough food to start with and they probably get sick from the elements, and this does go unnoticed for a WHILE.
They get back to Amon Ereb and are promptly put in a horrible little white room with a lock on the door. Again, Mae and Mags are not much interested with interacting with them at this point. Mags is a bit more interested but that's mostly because the twins remind him of Ambarussa and he's also emotionally unstable.
Mae sends ransom demands to Elwing, Earendil, and Gil-Galad, and they wait.
The twins are still hungry and sick, and convinced that they're gonna die. Also Mags keeps interacting with them and it's scary.
(They do get a window because keeping elves or elf adjacent beings away from view of the stars is unthinkably cruel, even for Mae and Mags. But they also still continue to be pretty neglected, and there is really nothing to do in that room. Elrond goes pretty catatonic at this point and Elros starts trying to tear holes through the drywall).
At some point it occurs to Mags and Mae that the twins are in poor condition and that's not really good when it comes to trying to ransom them.
They don't really know what to do though and so they consult some humans in their service, who are understandably like "uhhhhhhhhh they need more food and some medicine probably boss. Also it's kind of cold for them actually like sure it's fine for an elf but these are actual half-human babies).
Cue the twins finally getting some basic help. I have a vague idea that they bond with a human nurse that's sent in to look after them because Mae and Mags just cannot be bothered to Think About It.
Mae especially is pointedly staying away because it's too painful to be around the twins because a) they remind him of his brothers and b) they remind him of everything awful he's ever done and he can't handle that guilt.
Things continue to be Bad For A While.
Also I forgot to mention that Elrond and Elros have a poor grasp of Quenya at best, and so they really don't understand anything being said around them. They're picking it up fast though. Especially Elrond.
Finally a rejection of the ransom demands comes back.
What the fuck.
Mae absolutely goes into a rage over this because he literally does not know what else he can do. Because apparently Earendil and Elwing are on a boat somewhere with his father's Silmaril.
"What are we doing with the twins?"
Elrond and Elros are more convinced than ever that they're gonna get killed.
It's agreed that the twins should be dropped off somewhere to be found by Gil-Galad, and that trip begins. They likely send a letter to Gil-Galad announcing that they're returning the twins.
Gil-Galad has absolutely no reason to believe that the twins are alive and smells a trap. He does not come to pick up the twins.
Mae and Mags do watch (or have someone else watch) from a distance to make sure the twins are collected. The twins are not collected. The day wanes on into night. It gets really cold. The twins start bawling because they really think they're going to die now.
Mae really can't bear that and also at this point he's mad at everyone and everything.
They recollect the twins and decide that they're just going to have to look after them now until they're old enough to go back to Gil on their own.
Cue a very long tiptoe process of Mags getting attached to the twins and Mae refusing to (he's actually a big softie though so eventually he does).
I have way more ideas about later stages but this is already getting ridiculously long, sorry.
TLDR: (but I can elaborate more if people want me to): Mae and Mags finally start to get a grasp on Peredhil needs but wow is the damage done.
Elrond and Elros are veeeery slow to trust.
Super codependant relationship forms, with Elrond especially terrified of being left again because Mae and Mags are the only people who seem to want them now. Elrond starts emotionally regulating Mae and Mags just as much (if not more) than he used to for Elwing.
Mae and Mags get very attached to the twins and use them to cling to the last remnants of their personhood. This is not a good thing.
There's obviously more here I've thought this out very thoroughly.
Love grew between them but it was fucked from the start, essentially.
Also um something something the twins losing their Sindarin and not being raised in their Sindarin culture and essentially getting unintentionally completely colonized by Mae and Mags :/ icky and unavoidable.

About "When All the Embers Die"
Title: When All the Embers Die
Author: MelodramaticCoffeeAddict
Update 21: Chapter Twenty (Then)
Relevant tags: ZoLu, angst, modern au, acesan, ongoing, the swords are dogs, happy ending (allegedly)
A modern au ZoLu fic in which the crew were friends once, and now Zoro's not; and about why is that.
IT UPDATED! IT UPDATED! IT UPDATED!!! Thank you so much author for updating!!! I adore this story and it's been a blast. Truly, the angst and hurt/comfort are so well managed that I can't help but get really into it. Everyone should read this fanfic because it's effin fantastic.
All right, first of all, I am a big fan of MelodramaticCoffeeAddict's works. I've read a lot of them, and the ones I haven't is because I'm scared of the feelings they'll give me. Most of them are very angsty and Zoro-centric, which means I'm very drawn to her works. But I'm digressing.
All right, spoilers for the fic and OP Marineford arc, (though that last one is kinda a stretch but whatever) BEWARE!!
We start basically where we left the "then" part of the story, which is great because I can't get enough of Zoro and Luffy's reaction to the reveal. Like, Zoro, my man is Destroyed, he is basically in hell right now, his only lifelines are Wado, Luffy and Ace. (Which is so sad now given what we know about "now") (OHHHH I HAVE THINGS TO SAY ABOUT THAT!!!)
I want to talk about Ace's role in the story before I continue. Or at least, a little thing that popped up when this beautiful fic was invading my consciousness and not letting me study: Zoro doesn't get to keep his older siblings for long. An that's so sad!!!!! Like, the foreshadowing for Ace's death being to save Zoro, who could very well be trying to save Luffy from anything (or at least the way I understood it) Is So Tragic. This would be the second Older Sibling that sacrifices themselves for Zoro, I think that would break him. That's what gives him the permanent stutter in the "now" portion of the story.
This last part actually relates to the author's comment about a hc where Zoro just, buries his emotions instead of dealing with them, because then he would break. If Ace's death is Zoro's "fault" that will be what finally breaks the dam. He will not come back from that. And we know so!!! Because he didn't!!!
All right, back to the scenes in the fic
Sanji's been giving them food but Zoro doesn't want any, I understand this so much, this is so sad :c. Luffy eats it (haha), and Ace very much acts as the ultimate support for everyone. Let's go AceSan, I just really like how Ace doesn't neglects his role as everyone's support in favor of someone else. Even Usopp got some support! I love you Ace <333
Luffy reminding Zoro it was not his fault got me by surprise!! I sometimes forget this is a ZoLu fic ('cause of the plot) lol. This is such a nice way of giving a sweet scene that doesn't shift terribly the tone of the chapter, I really liked it.
More Zoro angst!!! He's blaming himself for the short trip :c Even though Luffy already told him nothing is his fault and he doesn't own anyone anything (some chapters ago), he still thinks he's the worst because he's ruined his friends fun!!! I WANNA CRY
Some more situational fluff: Luffy gives Zoro a ride home, and only Zoro!!!! I know this has Plot Reasons, it also has Ship Implications and I'm here for both. I really like Zoro and Luffy's relationship here! I don't remember getting a Luffy POV in this fic so far, I'll have to re-read, but I'd like to see their relationship through Luffy's pov.
The moment I've been waiting for ever since the birthday chapter is finally here!! Zoro calls Mihawk dad!!!!!! I was expecting this but it still made me feeeeel for them. I'd say I really like their relationship in the fic, but I say that about everything relationship in the fic. I just really like this fic and the way the author handles the characters in a very unusual setting, but makes it make sense for the canon counterparts!!!
Mihawk comforting Zoro part 1, thank you Mihawk for giving it your best to be a good dad, even if it doesn't always work out as intended. Your efforts have not been in vain because it's Your House where Zoro feels safest, not his, not Luffy's, not Ace's, Yours!!!
A short rambling about the dogs!!! They know what to do, I really love the dogs in this fic. They are *in character* for like, 2-3 lines of dialogue we've from canon, but in all honesty, I eat up any anthropomorphization of Zoro's swords (even Oda's, but we don't talk about Oda's take on that) but this is one of my favorites!
Oh yeah, the post dissociation clarity is weird. Like, as someone who also has the bad habit of "keeping big emotions under the rug" I have now added "to ACTUALLY check on them later" to the strategy, because it suck feeling a stranger to your own trauma. Hopefully Zoro learns this, but the way the story is headed, I don't see it happening in the "then" chapters...
On this, I haven't been through something similar to what's on the story, but both God and my psychiatrist know that the line between hyper rationalizing your feelings and just ignoring them blurs terribly quicky. So Zoro being like "I have to BE FINE, because if I AM NOT FINE then this would be terrible, the most horrible thing to ever happen, and that can't be true, because I don't think I could survive that" is very close to home for me, I just wish he went to therapy.
More angst (thanks) Zoro's issues with self worth and him being a waste unless he is excellent and strong and how I relate to that because of Internalized Family Expectations that were Not Met. Not much to develop on that, I just think about this take on Zoro's character and wonder what it means to myself.
Not wanting to eat because of anxiety for something totally unrelated to food is also very personal to me. The moment when eating stops being the Joie de Vivre to become A Chore is when it's known something's wrong, so seeing it in action for Zoro is great.
Mihawk comforting Zoro part 2, thank you Mihawk for loving your son. Perona also loves Zoro but she's a bit (a lot) lost right now. I think Mihawk wants to give Zoro a sense of normalcy through his panic attacks and all, so he keeps calm. And Perona knows that being dramatic is almost always more fun than being stoic, so she is. But my poor Zoro ends up confused about how to properly react to stressful situations thanks to these two, and by stating that on the fic we now know why he is Like That. I hope he gets to calm down more soon.
Ussop!!! I love it when we get his POV, I really like Usopp's POV in general for Fics, but this one serves also for an "antagonistic" narrative in the story. My man is too wrapped up in his own insecurities that he can't see that the way he and Zoro protect themselves from trauma is basically the same. They both create and project an image of themselves that has it more together than they actually do, the only difference is that now Usopp can't call Zoro's bluff and viceversa. They are both too into their own heads to even think that someone has issues as bad a they do. (Because why would they? Everyone else is so very much incredible! They are just the lesser friend, the one that's disposable, the useless one) They are all liars trying to get the best of themselves out, so that none of their wonderful friends ever finds out about what they've got within.
But they did!!! And it's Usopp's fault for not respecting Zoro's boundaries!!! Zoro's exposed everytime that happens and Usopp Can't Get Enough of it, because now he is not the weak one. He can call the bluff and regain some sort of validation towards him and his way of projecting out. What good it does to him though, because his bluff's also been called by everyone but Zoro. It makes sense for him to finally stop and think about what he's done for a change. Ding dong mtherfcker, it's consequences of your actions!
Side note, I really like Luffy paying for Usopp's phone but still too mad at him to actually talk to him directly, that's Luffy if I ever read him.
Usopp apologizing because he fears his friends stopping from being his friends and not because of him actually being sorry (even though he knows he's in the wrong) is peak Usopp behavior. In fact, it is very much canon, since that's basically how the end of the Water 7 saga goes. (until Zoro makes Luffy understand and so Usopp understand that half-assed apologies won't do). Let's hope he doesn't have to get punched anymore to be all right with the crew again.
Ah, Usopp being petty because Zoro apologized is funny, and very interesting for things previously mentioned.
And then the fic ends. It was a very good update! I'm So Glad the author is still updating! even though it' stated to be somewhat more of a bore now (than it was at the start :c) I await the next update expectantly because I can't get enough of this, and sincerely hope the fic gets to be done, because this is such a good story it'd make me sad if it were to just, stop. So once again, thank you so much author for all the work you put through and take your time!!!
Oh well, this is a great piece (haha), I think the fic is very non shippers accesible, because most of the moment can be interpreted as platonic (but why would you?) or plainly Not In English (I love that, I really like those but where they flirt in other languages, they are such dorks omg). So I believe any Zoro fans should read it, if you like modern aus, because it is a really good Zoro fic, and fic in general. I'm biased but I'm right!!!

What do you expect to happen in chapter 110? Honestly, I doubt that Aoi will actually die, but I liked seeing your opinion on what you think Aida Iro will do in the next chapter and theories if you have any 😁P. S: I love your posts and this is my first question ☺️
Hi! Welcome! 👋
I feel 110 is harder to guess than 109 was. It seemed pretty obvious before 109 came out that it would focus on the trial. So it's likely these predictions will be embarrassing to look back on, but I'll do my best.
Anyway, I agree! I find it incredibly unlikely that Aoi will die, especially so soon after being saved. So her being a yorishiro is unlikely for me. That said, it's possible a yorishiro is different from the actual person itself. The rules of yorishiro have never been clearly defined. Perhaps instead of the yorishiro being the real Aoi, it's some kind of copy... (there's really no way to know.)
That, or maybe there's a way to change what a yorishiro is and avoid the need to destroy it? I find that kind of unlikely, though. So for now, I will tentatively claim that Aoi is not the yorishiro...but some sort of Aoi-related memento. A boring guess, I know! Sorry!!!
Anyway, since Tsukasa just broke out of his cuffs and craves violence, I'm predicting a showdown between him and Akane. Kako is down for the count and Mirai is tangled up in his Kokujoudai, so I doubt they'll be any help less someone frees Mirai.
Actually, since Akane can stop time, I could easily see him freeing both Mirai and Teru to even the playing field. It's just a matter of buying himself enough time to stop time outright... remember, he needs his pocket watch to reach 6:30 before he can bring time to a standstill.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Knowing Tsukasa, he might just be fast enough to stop him. Akane will be too busy dodging his attacks to have time to perform his special ability...
So that's two conflicting ideas I have! I guess I'll tentatively go with the one where Akane and Tsukasa will be too busy with their fight to do much else. But if that comes to pass...perhaps Nene, the only other person capable of doing something right now since she has no shackles, can come to the rescue!
Tumblr media
...I mean, I predicted this last time, so I have to be right eventually, right!? Right!? (I just think baby Nene saving the day would be fantastic, don't you?)
Anyway... I do really like the idea of Natsuhiko or Sakura showing up, too. Them having a dramatic reveal at the end of the chapter just seems like such an AidaIro thing to do, you know? I'm sure they're doing something behind the scenes right now to help Tsukasa. But maybe that just involves preventing any meddling from people outside the boundary, like Kou or whatever... (idk.)
And just to be clear, I truly cannot imagine Akane winning any sort of fight with Tsukasa, even in his own boundary. But I also think it's boring as Hell to just immediately have Tsukasa find the yorishiro and then force Nene to destroy it... but then again, I'm also having trouble even beginning to guess what else could happen!? And like it or not, that yorishiro is getting destroyed. Tsukasa will get what he wants, one way or another. Mark my words!!!
Hopefully this is satisfactory enough. I'm really happy to be proven wrong in any of my guesses here. But it's important to face the facts, people: this little arc is reaching its climax. It's only a matter of time before that yorishiro is gone and we get to put this all behind us. Let's just hope it comes with as little casualties as possible!

I just played the demo, and I'm very intrigued!! I'm especially curious about Dahlia — a lot of players will be (quite rightfully) miffed at her after that banger of a prologue, so it'll be interesting to see how the interactions between Dahlia and the Knight play out. There's a lot of complicated threads to yank on there.
I don't think it'll be easy to act naturally friendly around her, not after that betrayal. Even if it was in a dream, the pain from that betrayal had to cut bone deep. The OC I'm using for my Knight values trust and loyalty above all, and never holds back on loving those he calls friends — so it's safe to say that Dahlia's betrayal essentially shattered a piece of his heart.
Personally, I think my Knight will be civil to her but will go out of his way to keep his distance. At first, anyway. Things may change if something like having to choose between helping Dahlia or ignoring her pops up, thus forcing him to break out of the distant neutrality he'd been keeping up with her. Of course, this is all hypothetical. Very very excited to see how the Dahlia situation unfolds!!
That aside, I!! The prologue!!! I have so many things to say?! The prologue was short, but so much emotion was packed in. The Knight's internal monologue, the way you describe the ROs' reactions, the setting, everything — my chest was twinging from the very first page, and by the end of it all, my heart was full on hurting.
I rarely get attached to a story so quickly. I want to see how this all plays out. I want to see my Knight lead this story to a happy ending (Assuming there is one, and if there is, my Knight will grab hold of it, because he's stubborn as steel and wants All his friends to be happy).
And I have to make a special mention of Oscar's scene. Because damn. So much raw pain. That fury, that heartbreak, that helplessness. The Knight's internal commentary, both pained and resigned.
I actually found myself connecting with Oscar the most out of all the characters present in the prologue. I think I'd react the same way, if I ever had to watch my beloved friend be executed for crimes that they may or may not have committed (I would refuse to believe it till the end, probably). I'd probably be furious — I'd go feral. Get complete tunnel vision. Do something stupid like try to attack a king. To hell with duties and titles and pretenses such as the crown and the king, for what's the use of those if I can't even save a loved one? And I'd rage at myself for being so helpless.
Then break down and cry, because I'm angry and filled with so much hatred that I wish I could burn them all to ashes with the heat of my fury — but I can't. I'm not some powerful magical being who can make everything right if I'm angry enough, if I'm stubborn enough. I'm a helpless bastard who can only bend and buckle under the weight of their duties and helplessness and watch as their beloved friend is sent to die an unjust death.
So the raging fury turns into a roaring tide and floods out of my eyes in fiery streams.
So, anyways. Yeah. I love Oscar. If that wasn't already clear <3
I just!! I'm currently the epitome of that one meme where some crazed looking skrunkly is grabbing you very very tightly by the shoulders. Your prologue made me feel so much! It made me feel so angry and so so sad!! It made me love and adore a completely new character with just one scene!!!
Logically, I know that was a (possibly definitely prophetic) dream. My Knight knows as well. Normally, I'd play an MC who's skeptical of anything that comes from dreams. But the emotions and heartbreak felt so, so real. It's hard to rationalize away all that raw emotion. It's hard to believe that none of that was real. My Knight can't summon an ounce of skepticism right now. You could say that the level of your writing made me change my play style from the get go :D I imagine that the weight of it all is going to leave the Knight more than a little out of sorts... and they'll probably have a hell of a time figuring out how they want to react to it.
Is the Knight even friends with half of the RO's in the Present Time, the time after they wake up from their dream? There's a possibility they don't even know each other yet, or aren't very familiar with each other yet. I only thought about that possibility just now :o
I feel like my Knight's thought process would be something like this...
Knight: Alright, so that was a dream. I think it was. Should I really trust a dream?
Knight: But damn did that hurt though *still feeling the echoes of the utter heartbreak wrought by the betrayal of dream!Dahlia, who was supposedly a friend*
Knight:
Knight: You know what. Maybe I should just be a Mysterious Stoic Loner from now on. Avoid everyone. What's human connection? Who needs love and friendship anywa—
Ahem. What I'm saying is, I'm hopelessly enamored with your story and world and characters, and I'm very much looking forward to going on this journey with you :D
Good luck with your writing!! The prologue is incredible, if you didn't get that from all the ramblings I've done in this monstrosity of an ask! I love Oscar! Thank you for sharing this amazing world with us. Take all the time you need for your next update. We'll be here :D I hope you have a very very good day! And week! And if you managed to read this till the very end, you're a real trooper! 😌✨
Thank you for your kinds words! It's very interesting to hear people's opinions in such strong detail. I agree that most people will be miffed with Dahlia and that was the reaction I was intentionally looking for (at the time). Despite me changing my plan on what I want to do with her, I wouldn't change the prologue at all. As for interactions...well, I plan to leave that as a surprise for now.
I agree that it'd be hard to trust someone who you knew would end being responsible for your death in the future, but I'd like to add that the MC has been having these dreams forever, but they aren't all negative. They also don't all connect to the same future, i.e a dream with a friendly Dahlia is not (necessarily) in the same timeline as one with an antagonistic Dahlia. So depending on the MC, that makes it either more heartbreaking or confusing (cause remember, the MC doesn't even know who Dahlia is).
"Things may change if something like having to choose between helping Dahlia or ignoring her pops up, thus forcing him to break out of the distant neutrality he'd been keeping up with her." Funny how I have such a scenario planned out >:) of course, there will be times where it's necessary to interact with her...because it's your job. I won't spoil anything, but there is a section of the game where you'll have to protect her...or not. When people aren't looking, anything can happen.
I wanted to leave it as a surprise, but for the next update, I've added another reaction the prologue, along with some...little additions.
Oscar's scene was the one I think I wrote the best. I think I wrote it a bit too well because it's leaving me unhappy with how I wrote Oran's. I can't wait to write out the entire prologue again when we reach that point in game. Of course, things will be very different depending on your choices and relationships.
I'm not too sure how I'd react in a situation like the prologue. I feel like I'd be a mix of Oscar and Oran; being so emotional, yet driven to such despair. No one wants to see someone they love be put to death, whether it be justified or not. It's hard to think about until you're put in such a situation. Everyone in that dream (even Dahlia) held some kind of love for the MC.
The weight of the dreams definitely leaves the MC a lot confused! I plan to have the events of them mentioned from time to time, especially in regards to Dahlia. It'd be difficult for the MC...just as it was for a certain someone...
The only people the MC knows when they wake up from the dream is Oscar, obviously, and Oran, although they aren't close at all. Adrean is non existent until the summoning, Dahlia isn't even on Hollas and Rionna has never been to Vol and as such, never met the MC. MC has had a very isolated childhood and has only really interacted with royalty and such.
I relate to your MC's thought process! But I shall disturb that by introducing likeable characters that will in no way affect your ending 😈 You come in with the mindset of distancing yourself and go away with lifelong friends and memories.
Once again, thank you for your kind words! Your ask was very nice to read and has really lifted my spirits with your enthusiasm! I hope to hear from you again in the future! I hope you have a lovely week and a very good day.

ETERNAL HANGOUT (the bug I suppose I should share)
Tumblr media
if you're tired of goodbyes, try it
invite your friend(s) and go to the cable cars (the icons aren't visible during hangout, so it would be easier to tag the place in advance) wait one, get in, get out, then get in again. you'll see the option to use the cable car for $10, do it. and once more if you're not exited of hanging out on the Chilliad peak.
keep in mind that:
- you can't go to the bar or do any other activity (except shops & customs), the map will be empty as if you were on a mission
- you also can't drop your friend(s) off, only abandon them but you'll still be unable to do something else
- the only way to get out is die
- or load. not sure if you can save during that, but it makes sense to try (as you can save during a normal hangout but not with your phone, the bed only)
- you might accidentally abandon them so make sure they aren't stuck. if you do, you won't get a warning notification to come back, they'll just stop following you (still react on bumps and shoves though, if you're into that))
- they might die. from a tank shot or a plane crash (even if you're on a painkiller and made it out alive)
SO WHAT'S THE POINT? well, first, they'll not be scared when shit hits the fan (did you ever get a message "Trevor got scared" when your car went underwater or something exploded nearby? what a nonsense). second, they'll not be wounded so you can bump into them as much as you want and they'll become much more tenacious during shotouts. third, they'll not suddenly leave you with an unavoidable goodbye cutscene after you spend a few days together. kinda satisfying, for T especially)
♡♡♡
and now a little background. a few months ago I saw a cute trikey dream where they had a cable car ride together. it wasn't the game's one, more like a ski lift but without skis and without even winter, rather a blossoming spring. it felt sorta "secret after-ending scene which you can get only after fulfilling some conditions" so I was somehow aware of myself as a player and took A HELL LOT of screenshots. they weren't an actual couple there, just chilling buddies with a complicated backstory to talk out, so they talked (it's a shame I didn't remember any dialogues, visual only, but the vibes were like "so everything settled, we're both alive thanks to Frank, he did great and we did great too"), they argued, they laughed, and then Michael almost fell off (for wtf reason), Trevor grabbed him. and held in his arms for the rest of the way, Mikey didn't mind (what surprised me most) and they kept talking. then the cable car stopped (or they just jumped off while it was closest to the ground? more likely) and later they were standing on a cobblestone sidewalk, whispering quietly, without moving even an inch away of each other's faces. I turned on my paparazzi mode again wondering why this scene is so underrated and no one even said a word about that. and when I already was like "omfg, they're so damn close it nearly looks like a kiss!!1!1" they really STARTED KISSING without any "looks like". AND AFTER THAT, I thought sincerely, SOMEONE STILL CLAIMS THEY AREN'T LOVERS? WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU PPL? ehh it's rather what's wrong with me but ok... more importantly, the one who initiated was Trevor. the view was from his back, so I only could see Michael's face: he wasn't surprised, rather uncertain if he should've done it first. their kiss was long, not really passionate but very affectionate and gentle. like they finally reached their comfort zone and it all worked out the best way possible.
don't recall anything further, guess I just woke up or the dream channel changed to something boring. hmm... probably first.
(just to say, it was long before I learned how to use rockstar editor and started to take these kiss-alike shots, but yeah, I've become obsessed with the idea since that))
next day I tried a cable car with them and detected the bug (or whatever else it is). was playing as Michael and got confused at first, like what do you mean he can't get rid of T now? I suddenly felt trapped. tried a lot of shit to trigger back a normal hangout, with no results. didn't dare to simply abandon Trevor but I knew it can't go on like this. so I just killed Mikey to let him escape lol. such an irony.
so in summary, it's a trap. a gay trap, particularly. maybe you'll find it entertaining ;3

Send my muse an anonymous nightmare:
There's something almost sinister about how Kaiba keeps coming back. He hates you, right? So why won't he leave you alone? Why does he come just to argue or pick on you, surely he has better things to do? Well, you find out. One fateful day you wake up in a much too familiar place: Death-T
Or a copy of it, you're not sure which. Things have been rearranged, there are entirely new trials to get through. But it's undoubtedly that cursed tower. And there Kaiba is on the monitor clear as day. That same malicious grin from so long ago plastered on his stupid face. Even the green hair is back. What was it with green hair suddenly turning people into the Joker?
You're alone this time. Know why? Because you're the focus, not Yugi. No, Yugi is the prize should you survive.
And somehow you do. You reach the end, you retrieve Yugi, but you're not happy. Not even relieved. Because that wasn't Kaiba on the monitor after all, it couldn't be. Kaiba is on the floor just a few feet away from where you'd unchained a sobbing Yugi. In a completely different cell. And from this distance, you can't even tell if he's breathing. If he is alive it won't be for long, not without medical attention. But you can't get to him.
The monitor clicks back on, the doppelganger back in sight. Looking at him now it's too obvious that this was never really Kaiba. The features are just a bit off, his eyes a little too small, the lips a little too thin, but it's still so similar that it's uncanny. And horribly off-putting.
He gives you a choice. You can risk Yugi, go back through another set of trials, and you'll get Kaiba's key too. If you succeed. If not? Yugi and him both die.
Or you can walk right out of there, Yugi right by your side. But Kaiba won't survive, if he's even alive to begin with. And you'll get the honor of telling Mokuba how you left his brother to perish. How you didn't even try to save him.
He's waiting outside, you know. The doppelganger gleefully tells you how he'd told Mokuba to meet him here, outside the tower. He'll ask where his brother is, and you'll stand there looking just as stupid as you've ever been as the guilt crashes down on you. How do you tell a kid that you willingly let the only family he has left die?
But again, you've already got Yugi so why risk it? Was it really so selfish to value a friend over someone who's only ever treated you like shit? If you fail they'll both die anyways, maybe Kaiba is just a necessary sacrifice.
Go on, make your choice Joey. Just pray you don't come to regret it.
“Just pray you don’t come to regret it...”
“ — AAAGH!”
Worn down to shreds by the doppelgänger’s taunting, Joey screams, slamming his fist against the bars of Kaiba’s cell.
Kaiba doesn’t stir.
He stands panting as pain pounds through his hand. In the corner of his eye he can see Yuugi, flinching, but making a visible effort to ease up, taking a hesitant step toward him. Joey avoids his gaze. Why? Not sure. Maybe it’s the overwhelming shame that he couldn’t make a split-second decision either way.
“Katsuya…”
The owner of that name tries to steel himself and not break down, when Yuugi’s hand rests on his shoulder.
He breaks down anyway, and for a minute — it feels so much longer — all either of them can do is cry, as Joey holds Yuugi like he’ll never get to do it again.
Because he just might not.
“I can’t do it,” he sobs. “I can’t — I can’t just walk. I have to go back, Yuugi, I can’t…”
“I know.” Yuugi pulls back enough to look at him, and even through tears there’s a quiet, serene strength in his gaze. “I’m going back with you. We can save him if we work together.”
“Y-yeah…”
Even knowing the absolute hell they’re about to endure, relief and gratitude finally wash over him. He leans in and kisses Yuugi, finding strength again in his embrace. Then, taking his hand, he faces the fake Kaiba.
“Bring it, you son of a bitch.”
In his sleep, Joey lets out a softly in distinct murmur, and then stills.

Chapter 7 opens with Lucy's funeral. Mina and Arthur comfort Lucy's mom. Mina sees many people she doesn't know, until! Jonathan!! They go for a walk, where Mina tells Jonathan about Lucy's sudden illness, and Jonathan tells Mina about all that happened to him. Also he escaped because Skinski is weak as shit so he pushed him and ran for his life.
Mina and Jonathan both thought they lost their mind, but thanks to the power of communication, they know they didn't!
Back to the Westenra's domain, Arthur is alone tk comfort Lucy's mom. Arthur wants to see Lucy at the cemetery, Lucy's mom doesn't, so Mina stays with her there, Jonathan and Arthur going to visit Lucy.
At the cemetery they see a non human looking woman, and Jonathan recognizes something similar to Darc, so he throws stones at it, without success. Arthur calls him, the creature was feeding on Swales! Swales is like "don't save me, I'm gonna die. Know this: there's a new vampire at Whitby, and young ladies in age to be wed? He doesn't kill them, no, he turns them into vampires too! Poor miss Lucy...that was her right now btw." Swales dies to close this chapter.
Chapter 8, Arthur recognizes he messed up in refusing to accept Lucy was sick.
The trio goes to the cemetery, and they see Seward who took out of the tomb Lucy's casket. Seward can't believe it, that Van Helsing guy was right about vampires. He opens the coffin so they can check, and yup, Lucy's a vampire. Seward says the book Van Helsing wrote gave a way to fix the vampire problem: pierce the heart with a knife rubbed in garlic. Arthur is like "I'll do it" and the scene is awful to watch for everyone. It works. Lucy is saved, Mina faints. Arthur tells goodbye to Lucy, meanwhile Seward goes to help Jonathan with Mina, who is.. convulsing. Jonathan is like "Oh god that was too much for her!" Seward is like "No wait let me check her neck... ok there's nothing" Mina is like "Actually it's been two days I've been growing weak and having nightmares that shows me things that both disgusts and attracts me. I'm fighting against something I don't know..."
So Mina was bitten, but Drac was sneakier that time, biting at her skull, in her hair. Garlic hurts her. Mina doesn't need explanation to understand what happened.
In chapter 9, the group goes to fight against Dracula in his Whitby home. The boys want Mina to go back to Whitby, Mina says "no fuck you I'm coming too. It'll be easy, right? It's day and we know how to kill that bitch, let's go".
Unfortunately, night falls. Jonathan is goad that Mina is with them, at least. I mean, imagine letting her alone and out of the loop when there's a predator who'd like to attack her, amaright?
Arthur makes the plan: they'll find Dracula, and all four will jump on him. In the stairway, Jonathan stays behind, having an idea in mind. He knocks on the door behind which Drac obviously is, and Drac opens it, acting as if nothing happened.
Jonathan in fact did not have a plan, he just wanted to be a lil hater in Dracula's face. Dracula laughs, asking if Jonathan is aware that he's deep in the shit now, and Jonathan claims his love for Mina. He's all "You won't bring Mina to your hell, I'd rather die! And even if you couldn't be deserving of it, Mina and I would." Basically "You were so shitty death didn't want you, but Mina and I would stay dead because we're better than you". Dracula laughs, and makes an offer to Jonathan: they'll go together at the top of the castle, and jump; Dracula will catch Jonathan and brings him down to Mina, leaving her alone, and in return, Jonathan will never tell a soul about the vampire thing. Jonathan smells bullshit, that's just a bad trap, but accepts it, because he realised that it's an opportunity to kill Dracula. Indeed, at the top of the stairs, Arthur jumps on Dracula... and Dracula blocks him. A short fight happens, where all three guys are easily beaten, and Dracula catches Jonathan, ready to throws him in the void... but he gets stabbed, release Jonathan, and HE falls to the void. Mina killed him.
She and Jonathan confesses, the end.

Tumblr media
Alatus was once told a story by his Master. A sinner who falls into hell is rewarded for his only good deed, choosing not to kill a spider. As his reward, a thread is lowered down for him to climb out of Hell. In the end, the sinner remains in Hell because he kicks aside others and the thread breaks. Alatus doesn't remember why his Master told him this story but he still empathizes with the sinner. He would have done the same or asked for this 'saviour' to extend their hand down instead. That way he could pull them down.
"Xiao? Are you okay?"
He slowly opens his jade eyes to see you hunch over, peering down above him, eyebrows furrowed together in concern as you reach down and softly tap his temple. He allows you to take a moment to do whatever you want with his face before he reaches up to grasp at your wrist gently, holding back on his want to rub circles into your skin. His reminiscing can wait for now.
"What is it?" he asks curtly, sitting up and resting his elbow on his raised knee. You pout at his curt tone but shrug it off as you take a seat next to him and lean your shoulder against his. You dig into your bag and pull out slips of commission papers and hand it over to him to read through what needed to be done today. A few Hilichurl camps needed to be taken care of, sabotaging a slime balloon, all tasks that seem mundane to someone who fought in a war. As he's preoccupied, you take a moment to look at Xiao's face. He's just the slightest bit unnerved whenever you do this because you always seem to know what's bothering someone.
"Were you dreaming of her again?" you ask quietly. The silence is a good enough answer but you nod understandingly. You never knew his Master personally but you did fight a long strenuous battle against her. From one look you could tell she was a manipulative and cruel woman. While it may not be very kind to say, you were glad that with her passing, Xiao would be free from her physically. But mentally...there were still some things to work out. But Xiao was a very reclusive person, especially with his emotions, so pushing him any further would only make him irritated and closed off.
"Venti and Zhongli are joining our party for a bit if that’s alright. They'll help out a lot with our commissions and travelling. I like Liyue a lot but climbing mountains stresses my shoulders out," you laugh as you change the subject to something less depressing. Standing up as you dust your clothes off before turning to Xiao and holding your hand out for him to take. He stares at it hard for a few moments before huffing and reaching over to clasp your hands together.
Tumblr media
It has been so frustratingly peaceful since the war ended. He's not used to it and he can still feel the lick of cutting winds and the heavy pressure of rocks against his body when he sees the bard and funeral parlor consultant just on the horizon. If it were up to him, he wouldn't play nice with these two Archons but they're important to you so he bites his tongue until he tastes blood. He knows the Archons do the same. As soon as the two of them spot you both, Venti is already rushing and tackling you to the ground in his excitement.
"Traveler! I haven't seen you in ages. You need to come and visit Mondstadt more," Venti cried into your shoulder as you awkwardly patted him on his back. Always with the dramatics but you cared about Venti all the same. Xiao scoffed before flicking his jade eyes to meet gold as Zhongli stared down at him cautiously. Since the war ended, everyone seemed to have this warped idea that Alatus had some vendetta against the Gods and Celestia but he was fighting because he was told to.
"Xiao. It's good to see you again," Zhongli said to him. Xiao just nodded in acknowledgement. Even with this new mortal form, Morax never bothered to change his eyes. His gaze alone held the weight of the mountains he had thrown. If Xiao hadn’t been under one of them before, he might have crumbled under the pressure.
"Alright alright, Venti. I promise I'll drop by sometime this month but we still have commissions to do!" you laugh as you haul the bard onto his feet and swat his cape down from the speckles of dirt. He grins cheekily at you, linking pinkies with you to seal your promise, before suddenly lighting up as if he just remembered something.
"Actually! Before we start anything, I need to speak to Mr. Zhongli and Xiao. Super important archon things, you know?" Venti nodded to himself as the two mentioned people stared at him with varying levels of confusion. But Venti just waved their worries off and linked his arms with both men as he dragged them off to a more secluded corner with a surprising amount of strength, “We’ll be right back!”
"Do what you need to do but don't take too long," you called after the trio as you trailed off to the side, messing with your bag of commission papers and gear. Xiao hated that. He knows that these two Archons are your...friends.. but shouldn't you be a bit more cautious? Just because they have mortal forms doesn’t make them human, it doesn’t make him human either.
"Hey, there's no need to look so scary. There really is something important I wanted to talk to the two of you about," Venti speaks up as soon as you're out of earshot. It still gives Xiao whiplash whenever he drops the persona and switches back to Barbatos. "Since Morax is the only Archon I trust with this information and, while I don't trust you one bit, you're the one that's with her all the time you should also know. She's ascending to Celestia."
Barbatos gauges both of their reactions. Morax seems visibly surprised, his eyes slightly widened a fraction, while Xiao has no idea what that means. His Master didn’t exactly give him a history lesson on Celestia or Archons, just pointed to who was his enemy and dealt punishments when he failed.
"And what the hell does that mean?" Xiao asks as he crosses his arms. Venti appears for a second as the bard pouts before continuing.
"It's like I said. A mortal who performs great, heroic feats can ascend to Celestia and achieve godhood. Where they will watch over their people from above. I've only seen this once before so it took me a while to recognize the signs. But 1000 years ago, I helped a woman named Vennessa with her ascension and with the traveler's recent actions with winning the war. Well, you don't need me to explain the rest," Barbatos finishes. Zhongli simply hums as he cups his chin and absorbs what's just been heard. He doesn’t seem troubled by the news at all.
"Have you told her about this?" Zhongli questions as he looks towards the direction that you left. Venti shakes his head. “That would mean that she would vanish from this world."
“I know she loves this world. Whether she wishes to ascend or not isn’t my choice but I want her to continue her travels with that beloved smile on her face. But if she does choose to ascend, she will need our help," Venti stares at the two of them in a mix of pride, sadness, and determination. "Can I count on you two for your help?"
It's a complete white noise in Xiao's ears as his surroundings fade out. He thinks he can see Zhongli nod to Venti wishes, the ever calm smile on his face to match the cheery grin on Venti’s. What, now you want to become a God? Leave this world behind? That’s not funny. You made him give up everything. While in your eyes, your blinded hero syndrome, you think you've liberated him from a soulless conquest but he still has nothing. You still took everything away from him and your only compensation was to have him by your side until he left himself. But now you want to leave without a warning? That’s not fair. You don’t get to take back what you owe. He won't allow you to leave him behind.
Tumblr media
“Did something happen? Did Venti say something unnecessary again?” you ask out of the blue. Zhongli and Venti had returned to their respective regions once your commissions were all finished. Since the three of them disappeared to talk Archon business, Xiao had seemed even more tense and aloof than usual. As if he was out of it? You knew that everyone was still suspicious of Xiao and they were angsty to leave you alone with him, but you knew Xiao would never do anything to hurt you. When he doesn't answer, you slowly reach over and you subtly nudge his head up onto your lap and look at him curiously. Before reaching down and cupping his cheek. He leans into your touch before turning his face into your palm and leaving a soft kiss. It makes you giggle at the ticklish feeling as you look at him so softly. It annoys him.
"You were never connected to the war and yet you fought against us anyways. Even when I killed so many people, why did you choose to spare me?" he asked as you blinked at him before giving it some serious thought. He went on a rampage and almost destroyed the world. It was fun. He doesn't have any regrets at all because he hated humanity. His own Master was human after all. But then you appeared and stopped him. A random outsider that wanted to play the hero. He thought it was cute. Perhaps he had underestimated the lengths someone would go to to save the world they loved but when he fell defeated at your feet. He said that this wouldn't change a single thing. He would still scorn humanity and what they did to him. He was so sure he would die there but you chose to extend your hand down to him instead despite what your companions felt. Even when the war ended and he had nowhere else to go, you offered him to travel with you. Nothing changed about his mentality, every person that chose to talk to him was quickly scared away with piercing eyes. Every conversation started would end in silence. Every touch would be met by the tip of his spear. But you would link your hands together with his and smile brightly, and he would always end up forgetting his trauma for a moment. You’ve... become precious to him.
"I love this world and everyone in it. You are a part of that world even if you tried to destroy it. It...didn't seem fair to leave you behind when you've suffered just as much," you finish but it only seemed to spark a wave of deep anger inside of Xiao. He quickly lurched up, almost knocking your forehead with his, before grabbing the scruff of your shirt collar and yanking you forward.
"Cut it out with that "love of everything" crap. It's revolting. So you're saying the people I killed weren't worth avenging? Do you think I'm so weak that I need protection? It's one thing to try and please everyone but at least have some awareness would you?" he snarled as he pushed you to the ground. He knew he was being harsh on you and you had every right to walk out and abandon him but you didn't. Of course, you wouldn't. You needed him as much as he needed you. You just reached over and tenderly reached your hand and placed it next to his. Damn it, why is he always the one stuck worrying about you.
"Then you want to protect me, right? Then don't break your promise. You left me alive which means you have a duty to live for me," he takes your hand in his and squeezes hard. Digging his nails into your own until crescents appear and tiny specks of blood appear so you know he's serious. He doesn't care how you interpret his words, just so long as you never leave him.
"Don't die on me, Hero."
Tumblr media
It's been a few hours since the conversation so it's pitch black outside but Xiao was never one to sleep. Even if he could, his mind is too loud to fall asleep too. He's startled when you melt against him fully asleep. Honey smooth as you curl up to his warmth and cling to him like moss to a rock. He can feel his cheeks start to flush as his heart begins to pound against his chest. He can't breathe as his world is filtered through each beat that drums against his ears. He's not sure if there's actually something wrong with him or if it's just been a while since someone got so close and his instincts haven't left.
He's just realized it. He's feeling pain. The feeling in his chest is black but he can't claw it away. It's strange in a way that he can't explain it, that he's never felt before, that he's never felt the need to experience. His life had been warped by battle and a constant push to submit to his Master. They are all things he knows but the gentle words that come from your mouth, the bright eyes that hold the world, the horrible ice-hot feeling inside of him is so foreign yet too easy. He doesn't like it.
It makes him feel...clean in a way. Enlightened perhaps? His Master is long gone and it's like you said. He's free now. Free to make his own decisions and live his life how he wants to. He carefully turns over so as to not startle you away as he really looks at you. You look so peaceful in his arms, eyelids shut without worry, face slack without nightmares, breathing so softly against him. If you weren't so close to him that he couldn't feel the rise of your chest, he wonders if he would think you were dead. He stares at the lock of hair swaying back and forth with each breath like a starved man. The strange feeling doesn't stop. He hates it. It's everything that goes against him and what he knows and everything he should want. He's supposed to be the villain in your story, he should kill you right now-
"Xiao..." he hears you mumble beside him as you lean further into his arm. Damn it. How low is he going to go?
“What are you thinking about now? You just need to think about me. Don’t think about anything else...but me” Xiao sighs before he wraps his arms around you and pulls you into him until you're snug against his chest. Close to him, where he can touch you, where you belong. Not with Morax or Barbatos. Not with humans but beside him. He closes his eyes and nuzzles his head into your hair and he stares off into the distance. The feeling never leaves him for the remainder of the night.
Tumblr media
"Ah! There you are. I was running around crazy looking for you," he turns his hair to see your flushed form pulling yourself up onto the mountain cliff, "When I woke up I couldn’t find you anywhere! You gave me a scare there."
He hates you. He hates you.
Words of his previous master ring in his ears, almost as if her very soul is wrapping around him as she whispers in his ear how weak he is. Ones with power that refuse to take what they want because they rather live in the comfort of nothing. Be greedier, take what belongs to you.
"Xiao?" you say as his piercing eyes stare directly through you. His Master always told him that she loved him. Even if he hated her he still clung to that false love. Of being wanted. Isn't love for a single person vile? Would feeling such emotions for one person instead of "everyone" bring you down to reality? It's not fair that you've crawled your way into his heart while you walk along in bliss. Now that he thinks about it. It was so simple. He just needs to monopolize your thoughts and love. This time it won't be as friends.
"I love you."
He'll pull you down to where he is. You extended your hand down to hell so it's your fault. He'll drag you down kicking and screaming if he has to. You left him alive. You have to live for him and by him. He's not letting go.

This post is a sort of collaboration with @golden-wingseos who is kindly letting me use their toxic traits post as a base for writing some Fluff! Check 'em out! Hope you enjoy.
Warnings: Albedo might be a OOC. This is my first attempt at more serious writing. And of course you should always remember that problems in a relationship might need more than a short talk.
Edit: request are open, if anyone reading this likes it feel free to request. Rules are pinned.
Now onto my post:
_____________________
Albedo: your heart is real
_____________________________
-you knew Albedo's secret, you knew his feelings, you knew enough to know he didn't want to love you.
-yet he did.
-you also believed he shouldn't be chained to someone else's wishes, especially when it wouldn't bring him happiness.
You were sitting in Albedo's lap, your head on his shoulder as you gently played with his hair.
"I'm going to destroy monstadt you know," he said, like he always does in an attempt to push you away, "that includes the people"
"Then I'll just stop you." You reply calmly.
"Then I'll have to kill you."
"So then you won't destroy monstadt."
Albedo was confused, you usually told him you would stop him but you've never said he wouldn't do it to begin with.
Albedo grabbed your shoulders and made you look at him, "what does that mean? Why wouldn't I destroy monstadt?"
"Because you would have to kill me." You said smiling.
'That damn smile' he thought, "why would I not destroy monstadt, not fulfill my master's wish, just because you would need to die?"
"Because you love me."
Albedo pushed you off and got on top of you, holding a knife to your throat, "would someone who loved you so this?"
"Yes" you never stopped smiling at him.
"Exa-wait what?" Albedo was dumbfounded, not comprehending what you meant.
"You're trying to push me away," you grabbed his shaking hands and pushed them down, causing him to release the knife, "because you don't want to feel any remorse, because you don't want to hurt me."
"Who says-"
"And I know you don't want to destroy monstadt," you grabbed his head and brought him closer, "because you love it there."
"I'm not real, I'm just a tool my master made to carry out their dreams. Stop treating me like a person."
"But you are a person, and as a person you can choose what you want."
"Well I want monstadt destroyed!"
"Even if that meant killing me?"
Albedo was shocked, he never felt conflicted before. Not in following his master's wishes, but now? At your words? He doubted every desire he's had.
You placed his hand on his heart, "feel that?"
"That's my heart..."
"So your heart is real. Now tell me, what does a tool need with a heart?"
Albedo didn't answer.
"Your master might want to destroy monstadt, but who says they want you to? Why give a weapon a heart?"
You didn't give Albedo time to respond before you kissed him.
"Your heart is real. Just like your love for me."
Albedo sat up and pulled you back into his lap, "you're an anomaly you know that? No one else can make me feel this way." He looked into your eyes and put his hands on your cheeks, "I guess I can hold off on destroying monstadt, atleast until I conclude my research on you."
"Well, let's start experimenting."
_____________________________
Hope that didn't suck.

Diluc: you'll get hurt if you love me
_____________________________
-Diluc has been avoiding you for a month now, he hasn't even gone out to do his darkknight hero duties.
-he's just locked himself away in his manor, ordering his servants to not let you in.
-Diluc, however, forgets that you met because you tried stealing from his house.
You were fed up with Diluc, he kept pushing you away and now he has CROSSED THE LINE! You're going to break into his room and make him explain why he's been avoiding you, it's been a year since you and him went on a date and now this? Something is seriously wrong.
You climbed up to the window sill and lock picked your way in, you walked over to Diluc's bed and sat down, waiting for him to return.
Diluc entered the door and, without looking, fell on his bed right next to you.
"You look tired, almost like you took the long way home just to avoid the route I take."
Diluc shot up and looked at you in shock.
You crossed you arms over your chest, "I want an explanation."
"(Y/n) what do you m-"
"You know full well! And don't call me (y/n)! You always call me 'dearest' or 'honey's, in fact you do a lot of things you seem to have forgotten about, like dinners, and tea times, and DATES!"
"Please I-"
"No! No running away, no excuses!" You grabbed his shoulders and turned him to you, "why the hell are you avoiding me!?"
Diluc looked up and saw you were crying. This isn't what he wanted, this is the opposite of what he wanted!
Diluc looked away, unable to face you, "Because I want you to hate me."
Your eyes widened, "w-what?"
"I want you to leave me, in a way that won't make you sad to leave me."
"Why!?"
"BECAUSE YOU'LL GET HURT IF YOU LOVE ME!"
You jumped at him and held him close, and yourself closer, "idiot."
"What?"
"I said," you managed between sobs, "your an idiot, Diluc. I knew full well what I was doing when I fell in love with you, and I did it anyway. What-what gi-gives you the right t-to abandon me now?"
Diluc was shocked to say the least, he didn't know what to say.
"I know how dangerous being near you is, how many enemies you have, how likely I am to die, but Diluc," you look up at him with tear stained eyes, "I won't be able to live another day, not without you in it."
Diluc pulled you onto his lap and held you, enveloping as much as he could.
"(Y/n)- honey, I'm sorry," he cried in your hair, "I'm so sorry, so very very sorry. I just wanted to protect you, I wouldn't be able to live with myself if you got hurt because of me."
"But you did hurt me, you hurt my heart."
"I know.. but please," he tilted you head so your eyes would meet his, "let me heal it."

Kaeya: no more secrets

I wrote this perfectly but the draft didn't save. If it's bad blame my rage.

Another day without you.
Another day spent drinking.
Kaeya remembered that day clearly, more clearly than he wanted.
Kaeya was happily walking home to you.
He was always happy on the way home, but he was happiest when he saw your smile. Lately though you've been acting strangely, he was going to talk to you about it today.
"Honey I'm home-" he stopped, it was quiet.
You were never quiet.
He decided you were just out, so he waited.
And waited.
And wait-
"Where are you?"
Kaeya reached for his drink, but he couldn't find it.
"Eh Dilc, wers meh ferkin dernk!?"
Diluc sighed, "sober up."
Kaeya slammed his hands on the bar and grabbed Diluc by the collar, "WAH SHELD AH BEH SURBER!? WAHTS DA FEKEN PEINT IB TAY AIN ERE WID MEH!?"
Kaeya fell backwards and cried, "wad tay lev meh Dilc?"
Diluc sighed and walked around the bar to his brother, "sober up," he picked Kaeya up, "and I'll tell you."
Diluc carried Kaeya to the winery.
Next day
Kaeya woke up with a scream, "(Y/N) WAIT!"
He looked around and saw he was in an unfamiliar bedroom.
Diluc walked in with water and breakfast, "are you sober?"
Kaeya held his head, "I wish I wasn't."
"Well you'll want to be," Diluc set his brother's breakfast down on the nightstand, "I'm going to tell you how to get (y/n) back."
Kaeya jumped at his brother, knocking them both to the ground as he held the red head's throat, "WHERE ARE THEY?!"
Diluc calmly pushed Kaeya off, who was weak as hell right now, "calm down, you need you to understand why they left or they'll just leave you again."
Kaeya just laid there.
"Good. Now listen because this is something it took me a long time to realize too: communication is key to a relationship."
"What?"
"Did you ever tell (y/n) anything about your work? About your dealings in the dark? About your 'off the clock projects'?"
Kaeay didn't speak.
"I thought so. Kaeya you need to talk to them about your life, if you don't you'll just drive them away."
"BUT I ALREADY DID!" Kaeya shouted as he slammed his fist on the ground.
"True, but I can bring you to them. But you have to swear you'll tell them EVERYTHING."
Kaeya nodded.
Diluc and Kaeya took a trip to Liyue, to a remote village you were living in.
"They're in here. Remember Kaeya, no secrets."
You opened the door at Kaeya's knocking, before immediate closing it.
"Go away Kaeya."
"(Y/n) please, I want to make amends."
"How? Batting your eyelashes? A kiss on the cheek? Sex? Well? What have you come up with as a substitute to trust this time?"
"No. No substitute, no lies, none of that. I'm here to tell you the truth (y/n)."
You opened the door, "no more secrets?"
"No, darling, no more secrets."

Childe: you give me strength
_____________________________
Childe met you when you first joined the fatui, and from the first day he was smitten. You always strived to get better, never once did your lack if vision keep you from being powerful nor keep you from getting more powerful. You were his ideal person for him.
But you didn't feel like it.
You always worried, 'what if I lost? What if I can't get stronger? What if I'm weak?' Were constant thoughts going through your head. You knew Childe was greedy for power, how he wanted nothing but power, how he would do anything for it, and as far as you were aware he cut off anything that held him back.
Even you.
You pushed yourself to far everytime you trained, to the point you were getting weaker by how little time you took to recuperate. But you never realized nor did you let anyone know out fear for what Childe would do if he saw you being so insecure in yourself.
You realized you were getting weaker and weaker, and that scared you, scared you to the point you decided to take drastic measures.
You decided you would prove how strong you are.
With Childe
Childe sighed as he wrote yet another debt collection warrant, he was tired from the month long mission he just got back from and now he had to do this. He decided he would indulge himself and pamper you when he got home, after all nothing pleased him more than seeing your constantly stern face blush and smile as he showered you in gifts and affection. And while he wasn't exactly good at reading people in an emotional sense, even he could tell you were insecure about something so he wanted to talk to you about it, maybe even introduce you to his family.
He wad actually getting lost in happy thoughts when a collector ran in, "HARBINGER! I HAVE URGENT NEWS!"
Childe glared at him, "what is it, I was thinking about my snow flower!"
"IT'S ABOUT THEM SIR!"
Childe snapped the pen between his fingers and stoop, "what happened."
"Sir they-"
"WHAT HAPPENED!"
"SIR! (Y/N) HAS GONE OFF TO TRY AND SLAY A GEO REGISVINE!"
Childe immediately bolted over his desk and sped through the bank, out of the harbor, and across the country of Liyue at speeds lost would think belonged to Baal themself.
He got to the regisvine just in time to block an attack that would have killed you.
It took him mere seconds to completely demolish it.
Childe approached your crumpled form, you could barely move and your bones were probably all broken.
"Ch-chi-lde..." you got out before blacking out from pain.
Next day
You woke up, everything below your chin was in a caste and you felt about as bad as you looked.
"Let me through!" You heard the one voice you didn't want to hear right now.
"Sir please they have to r-"
"DID I FUCKING STUTTER!"
A doctor was flung through the door and Childe charges right at you.
'This is it,' you thought, closing your eyes, 'he's going to cast me away, like I always knew-'
Your thoughts were interrupted by the feeling of lips against your own, and a wet feeling against your cheeks.
You opened your eyes in time to see Childe pull away from you, "what were you thinking you idiot?"
You looked at Childe, dumbfounded.
"WHY DID YOU DO SOMETHING THAT STUPID!?"
"W-what?"
"Why did you try and kill a regisvine on your own?!"
You looked away.
"WHY (Y/N)!? WHY!?"
"Because I don't want you to leave me..."
Childe recoiled at that, what did you mean you didn't want him to leave you?
"Why in the world would I want to leave you? Your my snow flower."
"Yes but..." you didn't want to say it.
"Come on, snow flower," Childe put his fingers under your chin and gently made you meet his gaze, "you can tell me anything."
"You...you only care for power...and I could tell I was only getting weaker no matter how much I tried, I was....I was afraid....afraid you would leave me...."
"(Y/n)," Childe said lovingly, yet with obvious sadness, "please, I dont want power just for power's sake.... I'm so sorry that I seemed that way to you."
"But you always seem so...dedicated to getting power..."
"Yes, but power is simply a means to an end," Childe chuckles, "I have a family, with a lot of siblings, and I care about all of them. I do so much for them, and every bit of power: be it with more, status, or pure power they are what drives me to get it. I'll admit though that it has developed into a bit of a....addiction, I guess you could call it, to battle and by extension to getting stronger. I-I didn't realize how much I let that take over-"
"No!" You shout, "no! Don't apologize for that. That's why I love you: your drive for power, your willingness to never settle, everything you do you do for power. I don't care if it's because you like battle or you like your family, because I love it. I love you. And I don't want to hold you back, and because of that I didn't want to be so weak that you had to....dispose of me..."
Childe kneeled besides you, "(y/n). You never have to worry about holding me back. Remember what you said? Even if I do, granted in a much smaller part than I originally stated, want power to protect my family, it is also very true that I want power for nothing more than to have it. But you could never hold me back from that, in fact you give me strength, (y/n)."
You chuckled, "that's so cheesey Childe."
"Well it's true, and the only thing more true is this:" Childe leans towards you, "I. Love. You."

The Unknown Journey Continues
Part 1
I know it's been a while... but I've been going down a rabbit hole with @starlight-samurai regarding time loops, Jenova, Minerva, and more fun. So I figured I'd try to put it into one post to get the insanity out of my head. Everything in here is based on things we've found by either going through more obscure Ultimanias, learning more about Dirge of Cerberus and trying to decipher what the hell Jenova is by putting together various sources - including other Square Enix games - and how they handled freakishly similar scenarios.
Did you know there is a companion mobile game for it that was out on the good old flip phones? Did you know there was an online mode in Dirge of Cerberus only available in Japan, but had story elements that were not in the main game?
The sad part is, there's still so much to go through...
(I've also had various discussions with @ourfinalheaven, Manu, who doesn't have Tumblr, so here is her Twitter. and Somebody's Nightmare (here is her Twitter). So I wanted to tag them here, as it's much more fun to discuss these ideas as a group, since it'll only help you build on and strengthen your own ideas.)
Please be aware, there will be Spoilers for FFVII - Almost all Compilation titles, Xenogears, and NieR Automata throughout this.
Tumblr media
So let's go on a journey where we explore what actually already exists in the compilation - including the idea of the whispers and timeloops - how Minerva may play into everything, and what exactly Jenova is capable of doing.
I asked Sesi if he'd ever played any of the NieR games, because he'd said something that made me wonder if they were going to take a similar approach. As a very, very quick high level summary: NieR Automata deals with a time loop type of idea. The androids will be rebooted and repeat the same things over and over again. This is broken when 2B is killed by A2 because she becomes infected with a virus. That being said, you have the option after Ending E to either erase all of your data and end the cycle OR you can try again. The Pods have a discussion, and one asks, "But won't they just do the same thing again?" and the other replies with "Maybe. But it could also be different this time."
Here's Sesi's message back to me when I asked him about this (cleaned up a bit since we were having a casual conversation over Discord):
Maybe I could just guess based comparatively on the Dirge storyline, because that was sort of SE's first flirtation with “robots and androids” since they’re all programmed and locked behind like task managers and shit that can shut them down. The story of the online mode for DoC that came out in Japan, we never got to see it, you’re basically an Android OC and you have to get to “the end of the level” and then essentially die, and a new one takes its place. This keeps happening until Weiss is essentially freed from being able to be task managed by the guys who are suppose to be able to control them and I know from tons of years with Square games that they’re verrrrry bad at differentiating their narratives they tend to just keep “ripping themselves off” so is it anything close to that?
Cuz if so I think I kinda know what you’re saying and yeah, I agree, I think with CC bringing in its poetic symbolism and LOVELESS, and DoC bringing back the cyclic nature of the lore, whispers, premonitions and future visions, proto-Materia and the perversion of this next cycle since the planet can no longer cleanse and protect itself and its will is weakening lesser and lesser to the point where it’s fate is “in a true sense of jeopardy This time essentially it’s all tied in together and sort of played as though it's a fated track; a cycle of events and something has hitched it, thus the whispers manifesting and Sephiroth's higher implied control over his destiny. Of course, even all that is just their new red herring game, but it’s definitely a part of the lore they want to play with, in order to go back and reMAKE the OG with the comp inserted from inception. Also gut punch a lot.
Time Loops
I was somewhat surprised to find out that this concept is NOT new to FFVII's universe. It's discussed in Dirge of Cerberus... probably one of the least played and least understood of the compilation. (Trying to sell a third person shooter with terrible controls to a market of mostly people used to turn-based combat wasn't going to go well.)
Tumblr media
On top of it, we didn't even get all of it, since online mode was never released outside of Japan, and the Dirge of Cerberus Lost Episode was on Amp'd Mobile and Verizon flip phones back in 2006. Were you around for the cell phones in 2006? I had the ones on the list, and how somebody could play a game on those blows my mind.
Square has a tendency to reuse themes from their other titles. Probably one of the most blatant is the similarities between Xenogears and Final Fantasy VII. They were both being developed at the same time and a lot of ideas that didn't make it into FFVII ended up in Xenogears.
NieR
So how does this work? In NieR (both Replicant and Automata), you play the same path multiple times. Each time, it's slightly different depending on what side quests you did your first and second playthrough, but there's also other subtle differences throughout the story. In Automata, you get to play as 2B your first playthrough and 9S for your second. They follow the same path, but you get it from his perspective the second time and it reveals a bit more of what is going on. However, even with some slight differences, the main plot points stay the same and the ending result it also the same.
Tumblr media
Then on your third playthrough, you wake up in the Bunker, and you're getting ready to go on a new mission. This time, though, 2B is killed and shit hits the fan. Things get crazy, you play as a new character: A2. In the end, pretty much everyone "dies", but you can choose to "reboot" and try again. You also can say you are done and let them all rest and delete your save data (the game gives you the option for both Automata and Replicant, and with Replicant, it actually leads to a new ending).
The striking thing for me is... There are certain events that will always happen, no matter what.
Fixed Points in Time
It's been years since I've watched Doctor Who, but there was something that stuck with me, and that was the fixed points in time. You can read about all of them here, but here's the basics:
Tumblr media
Now, of course Doctor Who goes into this with much more detail and it's a recurring theme. However, as you read through that page, you'll probably find many aspects that have been used in various JRPGs that you've played. And Doctor Who most likely pulled some of the idea from classic Science Fiction novels. Each story puts its own spin on it.
How does this relate to FFVII Remake? Well, when they say that the major plot points will stay the same, it reminds me of this. No matter what, Cloud must fall into the Sector 5 Church, the Sector 7 Plate must be dropped, Aerith and Zack both must die, and Meteor has to be summoned, to name a few. So, with a time loop, those things would still have to take place in order to prevent a complete collapse of reality (at least in how Doctor Who uses it).
Therefore, the Whispers are ensuring that the Will of the Planet is followed.
One of the major themes in FFVII is that of loss. People die and they do not come back. Yes, other FF games do allow this to happen (FFX, FFXIII, FFXV), but VII is not those games. It was written with that idea in mind, that once a person dies, they, just like in real life, are dead and cannot be brought back.
I've previously written that I think they'll make us believe we are able to change fate, but we will eventually be slammed with the reality that we can't. That is because the planet has determined that certain events are fixed points.
Xenogears
Xenogears takes a bit of a different approach to the loop idea. Instead of repeating the same time period over and over, it has the characters reincarnated, and the same outcome happens each time: Elly dies. However, each time it's different. After all, they're in various time periods, in some cases thousands of years apart.
Tumblr media
In all of the lives of Fei (who will have a different name in each time period) and Elly (who is always Elly/Elhaym), Elly will end up dying trying to protect Fei and the others. In one life, she is a religious figure at a totally not Catholic church, in another she's the wife of a scientist who was working to create children from nanomachines due to mass infertility issues. But she is ALWAYS with Fei, even if his name changes.
In her Mother Elhaym time, this is when Lacan (Fei) finally snaps. Though he's not fully aware of his past lives, he becomes aware, the anger consumes him, and he becomes Grahf. Fei is then reborn into the time period you play the game in.
Tumblr media
There's a lot to unpack with this, so I won't go into it. Grahf wants to destroy God (Deus) because he thinks if he does, then it'll stop the suffering (his suffering).
If you do want to read more about Grahf, you can do so here, but it probably won't make much sense unless you've played Xenogears up to that point... Since it's much later in the game that this is all explained.
Tumblr media
Lacan's desire was to stop the cycle of Elly always sacrificing herself for his sake. Though Grahf is not a perfect existence - he's not fully "The Contact", he sacrifices himself in order to let Fei move forward, and hopefully stop the cycle, by destroying the Deus system. (Elly also tries to sacrifice herself here, but Fei goes after her and stops her.)
Now, some people may think I'm saying that Cloud or somebody is going to do this in order to save Aerith or Zack (or his village or mom), but in FFVII if they do the loop method, I don't think Cloud, Tifa, Barret, and the others are aware of it. Most likely, it's only 'Sephiroth' and Aerith who are aware of it.
How this Could Be used for Final Fantasy VII
I'm stressing could because there's so many different possibilities on how they use this (if they are using this), so please, don't take this as fact. This is based on speculation based on what we know.
Tumblr media
A time loop is a great way to explain away the differences in the story that we've seen: Biggs being alive, Wedge living for longer than he should have, etc. Since these are not major plot changes, they can simply say that this time it'll be slightly different... but your fixed points (major plot points) will remain the same.
It's a way to pull in some of the more obscure themes from Dirge of Cerberus and also play with the LOVELESS lore.
It could all simply be a big red herring and it's really just a remake of OG, but with the compilation tied together nicely... since it works much better when it's combined and not in 50 different games, books, movies, etc.
I don't think it's a "sequel" per say, not in the way I generally perceive a sequel. It's more of a loop of the same thing. The question is, when is the loop started and what will cause it to end? When will the planet (if it even is the planet) determine that it's good enough to begin moving forward?
JENOVA, Sephiroth, Genesis, and Minerva - Oh My!
Let's be real... Genesis isn't exactly the most popular character in the FFVII Compilation... but what if they make him one of the most important to the story? //Ducks as various fruits and vegetable are thrown in my direction//
Tumblr media
I think what Genesis is probably most known for is his love of LOVELESS. He has the entire thing memorized and randomly says lines from it throughout Crisis Core. LOVELESS lore is still something I'm trying to grasp, so I am not going to comment much on it. Once I understand it more, I'll update this.
Tumblr media
...And then this happens. The secret ending for Dirge of Cerberus, where Genesis picks up Weiss. Weiss, who has now been introduced along with Nero in FFVII INTERmission and is an optional ridiculously hard boss in the Shinra battle simulator in chapter 17 of the main story. There is some lore associated with the battle sim - so if you don't plan on beating it or you just can't, you can look up the pre-battle and post-battle cut scenes on YouTube. They're very short, but interesting. (I beat this asshole last night - it's a hell of a fight.)
....To Be Continued because apparently Tumblr won't allow more than 10 images per post now.... Next will be more on JENOVA and Sephiroth along with Minerva.

I'm writing about ending 12 because I'm fucking insane apparently
When Ending 12 came out, nobody had an idea of what it was trying to show but after a specific amount of time, it turns out that if Ending 13 was the "See you next time!" Ending, then Ending 12 is the "Here's all the clues I'm allowed to give you, have fun wracking your brain around it :)))))" Ending.
Ie this bad boy has so much foreshadowing we've already noticed and some we haven't yet. But we might and here's my assumption on what it is!
Featuring Pain, More Pain and PAIN DELUXE!
1. Sister Lily.
Tumblr media
The way Sister Lily just randomly shows up in the Ending is... odd. While Sister Lily IS in fact a meaningful character, in the current (both now and 10 months ago when the Ending came out) arc she doesn't seem to fit in well.
Except she kind of does because of Lolopechka.
Right now, Lolopechka may be out of the death flag zone but its obvious she won't be able to go back to the way she was. While she's no longer in the range of death, she still became a devil and Gadjah is still dead.
Even if Asta and Noelle defeat Megicula and undo Lolopechkasl's curse, there's no guarantee she'll be able to be Undine's host.
We've seen this with Salamander and Fana. If one uses forbidden or by extent devil magic, they'll no longer be qualified as a host. Undine's contract with Noelle is also Temporary, only to save Lolopechka and will be forced to look for another host if she's unable to reestablish her contract.
This is where Lily comes in. Lily might be the next host to Undine for several reasons:
1. Both Lolopechka and Lily share similarities (water signs, same blood type, similar age range, similar looks) to which, while Lolopechka wouldn't be able to be host to Undine, Lily might act as a stand in, even if only publicly.
2. Lily has A LOT of mana. So much an elf even mistook her for a noble. Its actually kind of theorised she might be a noble who ran away to become a nun/cut ties for freedom.
While it's a far stretch and could be a bit of a rude move on Undine's part, it might shed some light on Lily's past and why she chose the church.
2. FINRAL
Oh boy, Finral, My dude, I'm not liking this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While Finral being here could Probably be a callback to being the most reliable/sensible Black Bull but
Considering that the first was almost directly after we saw Yami's back to Asta and the second one was a blink and you'll miss it moment near the end with Yuno, we have a right to be worried.
Might be strange as hell but considering how this arc is going, this is either
1. Finral will join the Zenon vs Yuno and Langris fight and deal a heavy blow/get severely injured or
2. Finral's position as the next captain in case Yami does die, and how Yuno will be forced to take over Golden Dawn in case neither lives. This is mostly because I doubt Nacht will take over the position and that Finral is, out of all the 1st Class Junior Bulls, the most responsible/willing one. The other 1st class Juniors are Gauche, Zora, Charmy and Gordon. Out of all 5 of them, Finral would have the most incentive and common sense.
With how his manga presence has been so far, its likely Finral is leading the Black Bulls Attack to the Spade Castle. While the likelihood of him taking over the position is only prominent, Nachts injuries and loss of Plumede and Walgner may either put him on hold or even force him to retire.
3. Yuno
The reason why I previously said Finral might Die is actually linked to the fact that Yuno may, while not die, could experience something just as severe
Yuno, Finral and Yami are all showing their backs to Asta in the ending and its also a show that something grave may happen
With Yuno, it's much more likely because of his pendant shot.
"I scream that I can't erase it yet." Not sure what "it" is referring to but with the pendant it's either Yuno's grand old distaste for nobility and him coming from a royal title he refuses to acknowledge ( the pendant being a lucky charm of sorts) or the promise made with the pendant to Asta (whether its to become stronger to protect him or become the wizard king to protect all is unclear).
Yuno's had many cases of the pendant being his symbol of Something Happening To Him (like the elf reincarnation) so this is either a warning or a safety measure.
4.Asta.
Best for Last
This. This entire ED has some of the most ass backwards symbolism with Asta than any other.
Mostly because of these shots.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When this came out, I was reasonably Shooketh but looking at it again with more context I'm seeing stuff in a new light.
I know there was a lot of "Asta's demon is named Roth because Asta + Roth = Astaroth" theories. Many were debunked with Liebe's reveal and all but that's not what this is foreshadowing. Some more got debunked with the Qlipoth and devil positions and confirmed namedrops.
I don't think this was foreshadowing for Liebe, so much as foreshadowing for Asta.
"Roth" might actually be an actual, separate character. And probably related to both Astaroth and Asta himself.
The entire sequence starts off with Asta being shrouded in darkness. We see him chasing someone and following someone else's foot steps, which we assume is Yuno. Asta stops, sees something in the distance which disheartens him. We're then shown that it's not Yuno but another "Asta". The second Asta is the one leaving the trail of glowing footprints while being either the source or closest to the light in the darkness.
The scene shifts to two pentagrams similar to the Astaroth sigil, one having a Glowing sigil in the front and another having a black sigil in the front. It then shifts again, to Asta standing/being left in the dark while a "demon" counterpart/doppelganger is standing in the light.
The difference in this is IMMENSE. The demon Asta is standing completely in the light, while human Asta is there only partially.
This is symbolism that either Asta is unconsciously blocking out/keeping himself away from some information he might instinctively know. Maybe Asta trying to find an answer to something, but upon seeing what it might be, purposefully chooses to stop pursuing it to the point where the truth itself comes to face him instead.
The "truth" in question could either be him being half devil or something along him becoming a devil.
The Other idea is that Asta may not have been a single child originally. We're never actually shown if Asta was born stable/was a single child in the womb. If Asta really was a half demon, it might be so that Tabata could take the AoEx approach with half demon twins, one more human, the other more demonic.
Am I going with devil doppelganger theory? Maybe. If Licita got pregnant from someone with a VERY high mana supply, it would either have to be a royal or a devil. But considering everything, if it was a devil, this might go in a give and trade type of deal. Licita would give the devil, I assume Astaroth, a half devil half human child and in turn I assume Astaroth would lift her curse.
The plan may have failed as they were expecting a single child, not twins. Which would end up with Astaroth taking the demon child as compensation and Licita being left with a manaless baby that would end up dying with her. Oof.
Why would Astaroth need a child, no idea. Probably as a vessel that's compatible for both the Underworld and the Human world. We've seen that different high ranking devils have different ways of manifesting into the human realm. We've seen it with both Megicula and Zagred, this might be Astaroths.
This is a huge shot in the dark though, but if the theory ends up real and Asta ends up having an evil twin that's wanted to destroy him for years, it could explain the disheartened expression.
Like Asta finally having a clue on his origins, only for his one clue to want nothing to do with him. That would absolutely hurt. And if the "Roth" twin theory does get more backing in the future, we might get a more solid idea on the way the Underworld works.
Either way, considering the foreshadowing in some of these is almost over a year old, we can't really be sure if it's coming soon.

Chapter Twenty-Nine: Back To Hogwarts.
Ariana Dumbledore smiled at her brother, she turned around and started to walk towards the back of her portrait without uttering a word.
"You know," Erick muttered beside her. "You do look a lot like her."
"I know," Mel replied.
"Er..." Ron started. "What—?"
"There's only one way in now," Aberforth explained. "You must know they've got all the old secret passageways covered at both ends, dementors all around the boundary walls, regular patrols inside the school from what my sources tell me. The place has never been so heavily guarded. How you expect to do anything once you get inside it, with Snape in charge and the Carrows as his deputies... well, that's your lookout, isn't it? You say you're prepared to die."
"That's right," Mel said. "Good to hear the Carrows are still around, I have some pending business with them."
"But what..?" Hermione squinted. "You see that?"
Someone was coming back with Ariana, taller and limping, but it seemed to be quite eager to get to their end. His face was terribly beaten and his hair was quite long a messy, it got closer and closer until the portrait opened in front of them revealing a dark tunnel. Neville looked at them beaming, he jumped out of the edge of the fireplace and enveloped Mel in a tight hug.
"I knew you'd come! I knew it!"
"Neville—what the—how—?"
The boy let go of her only to hug Ron, Harry, Erick, and Hermione in turn.
"Neville!" Mel exclaimed in horror. "Who did this to you?"
He had bruises and dry blood everywhere she looked, his clothes were ripped and unkempt, but he'd never looked this excited.
"I knew you'd come! Kept telling Seamus it was a matter of time!"
"Neville, what's happened to you?" Harry insisted.
"What? This?" He vaguely pointed to his injuries. "This is nothing, Seamus is worse. You'll see. Shall we get going then? Oh! Ab, there might be a couple more people on the way."
"Couple more?" Aberforth frowned. "What d'you mean, a couple more, Longbottom? There's a curfew and a Caurwauling Charm on the whole village!"
"I know, that's why they'll be Apparating directly into the bar," Neville replied gleefully. "Just send them down the passage when they get here, will you? Thanks a lot."
"You've been helping them? The students?" Mel asked in a strange voice.
Aberforth looked at her as if she were asking a really stupid question. "They're innocent children."
Hermione and Ron climbed up to get into the tunnel, Erick made an attempt to follow and she pushed him back.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?"
"I can't leave you guys on your own, can I?" He raised a brow.
"Yes you can! You're supposed to take my mum and my brother to France!"
"They know where to go, don't you Mily?"
"Yes," The woman nodded calmly. "It's alright, Mel."
"No, it's not. You're not coming, Flint."
"Mel, you already messed up my personal plans," He crossed his arms. "You owe it to me."
"What? That's stupid, I can think of at least ten better ways to repay you."
"This is what I'm supposed to do whether you like it or not," He scowled, pushing her aside. "I'm staying."
Mel let out a frustrated groan, she'd been complaining about people leaving her all the time, but this wasn't the time to change the narrative! She pushed her hair back and looked at her mother.
"You better go as soon as the sun comes out, d'you hear me?"
Emily just smiled at her, behind her Regulus kept on eating the leftovers of Mel's dinner.
"I don't know how to thank you," Harry told Aberforth. "You've saved our lives twice."
"Look after 'em, then," Aberforth grumbled. "I might not be able to save 'em a third time."
Harry climbed over the fireplace and offered his hand to Mel, she looked at her Grandfather one last time.
"My father would've been proud of you if you'd told him the truth. I know I am."
She could've sworn she saw some kind of teary expression on his face before he turned around. Mel climbed up with Harry's help and the portrait closed behind them.
"How long's this been here?" Ron examined the tunnel in wonder. "It isn't on the Marauder's Map, is it, guys? I thought there were only seven passages in and out of the school?"
"They sealed off all of those before the start of the year," Neville explained. "There's no chance of getting through any of them now, not with the curses over the entrances and Death Eaters and dementors waiting at the exits."
He was walking backwards so he could continue to see them, he was truly glowing despise all the wounds on his body.
"Never mind that stuff... Is it true? Did you break into Gringotts? Did you escape on a dragon? It's everywhere, everyone's talking about it, Teddy Boot got beaten up by Carrow for yelling about it in the Great Hall at dinner!"
"Yeah, it's true," Harry said awkwardly.
"What did you do with the dragon?" Neville laughed.
"Released it into the wild. Hermione was all in for keeping it as a pet—"
"Don't exaggerate, Ron—"
"I thought it was sweet!"
Hermione laughed, Neville and Erick both look at the pair weirdly, Mel snorted.
"This is sort of recent," She told them, pointing at the couple.
"Blimey, so Mrs Weasley's right, war causes people to get in stupid relationships..."
"Erick!"
"I'm joking!" He laughed when Ron tried to hit him.
"But what have you been doing?" Neville insisted. "People have been saying you've just been on the run, Harry, but I don't think so. I think you've been up to something."
"You're right, but tell us about Hogwarts, Neville, we haven't heard anything."
"It's been... well, it's not really like Hogwarts anymore," His smile faded. "Do you know about the Carrows?"
"Those two Death Eaters who teach here?"
"They do more than teach. They're in charge of all discipline. They like punishment, the Carrows."
"Like Umbridge?"
"Nah, they make her look tame. The other teachers are all supposed to refer us to the Carrows if we do anything wrong. They don't, though, if they can avoid it. You can tell they all hate them as much as we do."
"Amycus, the bloke, he teaches what used to be Defense Against the Dark Arts, except now it's just Dark Arts. We're supposed to practice the Cruciatus Curse on people who've earned detentions—"
"What?" They exclaimed.
"Yeah, that's how I got this one," He tilted his face so they could see the cut on his cheek. "I refused to do it. Some people are into it, though; Crabbe and Goyle love it. First time they've ever been top in anything, I expect."
"Bastards," Mel growled. "When I get my hands on them..."
"You won't," Harry reminded her. "We're going to remain hidden, remember?"
"Alecto, Amycus' sister, teaches Muggle Studies, which is compulsory for everyone. We've all got to listen to her explain how Muggles are like animals, stupid and dirty, and how they drove wizards into hiding by being vicious toward them, and how the natural order is being reestablished. I got this one," He showed them another cut, "for asking how much Muggle blood she and her brother have got."
"Blimey, Neville," Ron grimaced, "there's a time and a place for getting a smart mouth."
"You didn't hear her. You wouldn't have stood it either. The thing is, it helps when people stand up to them, it gives everyone hope. I used to notice that when you did it, guys."
"But they've used you as a knife sharpener," Ron insisted.
"Doesn't matter. They don't want to spill too much pureblood, so they'll torture us a bit if we're mouthy but they won't actually kill us."
"I think that what you're doing is great," Mel retorted.
"Of course you do," replied the other four.
"I hope this doesn't come off as rude, Mel, but it's weird how much you enjoy being tortured," Hermione said worryingly.
"I don't enjoy it!"
"Well, not enjoy it—but you were laughing and joking a lot when Bellatrix and Greyback were hurting you, as if all of it were some kind of game."
"I was trying to get a rise out of them so they would hurt me more," Noticing this wasn't helping her case, she explained further, "it's the only way I have bursts of magic now!"
"That doesn't make it better," Harry groaned. "Keep going, Neville."
"Well, the only people in real danger are the ones whose friends and relatives on the outside are giving trouble. They get taken hostage. Old Xeno Lovegood was getting a bit too outspoken in The Quibbler, so they dragged Luna off the train on the way back for Christmas."
"Neville, she's all right, we've seen her—"
"Yeah, I know, she managed to sent a message to me," He showed them the D.A. coin. "These have been great! The Carrows never rumbled how we were communicating, it drove them mad. We used to sneak out at night and put graffiti on the walls: Dumbledore's Army, Still Recruiting, stuff like that. Snape hated it."
"You used to?" Harry asked doubtfully.
"Well, it got more difficult as time went on. We lost Luna at Christmas, and Ginny never came back after Easter, and the three of us were sort of leaders. The Carrows seemed to know that I was behind a lot of it, so they started coming down on me hard, and then Michael Corner went and got caught releasing a first-year they'd chained up, and they tortured him pretty badly. That scared people off."
"A first-year!" Mel said in outrage.
"No kidding," Ron growled.
"Yeah, well, I couldn't ask people to go through what Michael did, so we dropped those kinds of stunts. But we were still fighting, doing underground stuff, right up until a couple of weeks ago. That's when they decided there was only one way to stop me, I suppose, and they went for Gran."
"They what?" They all gasped.
"Yeah, well, you can see their thinking. It had worked really well, kidnapping kids to force their relatives to behave, I s'pose it was only a matter of time before they did it the other way around. Thing was," He chuckled, "they bit off a bit more than they could chew with Gran. Little old witch living along, they probably thought they didn't need to send anyone particularly powerful. Anyway, Dawlish is still in St. Mungo's and Gran's on the run. She sent me a letter, telling me she was proud of me, that I'm my parents' son, and to keep it up."
He grabbed the letter from his pocket and showed it to Erick and Mel.
"Cool," Ron laughed.
"Yeah! Only thing was, once they realized they had no hold over me, they decided Hogwarts could do without me after all. I don't know whether they were planning to kill me or send me to Azkaban, either way, I knew it was time to disappear."
"But... aren't—aren't we heading straight back into Hogwarts?"
"'Course! You'll see. We're here."
Erick slowed down, his face grew worried.
"Neville," He spoke, giving back the letter to the boy. "Does everyone in there think I... you know..."
"That you're a Death Eater?" He raised a brow. "Nah, you're alright. Dean sent us a message as well, we've been hearing Potterwatch so we assumed that it had to be you. It's alright, mate."
Erick nodded, but he didn't look entirely sure. Mel reached out and squeezed his hand encouragingly. Neville pushed open the door in front of them and spoke loud and clear:
"Look who it is! Didn't I tell you?"
A string of shouts followed Neville's voice, Mel got a bit disoriented since she didn't recognize this room as part of the castle, especially since it seemed to have decorations of all the houses hanging around and she couldn't remember ever seeing a thing like it in her six years of studying there.
She got pulled into a group hug and saw many familiar faces, friends from her time spent at school, some of them were actually crying in delight.
"Okay, okay, calm down!" Neville called, and it was kinda shocking to see everyone listen to him so intently.
"Where are we?" Harry and Mel asked.
"Room of Requirement, of course! Surpassed itself, hasn't it? The Carrows were chasing me, and I knew I had just one chance for a hideout: I managed to get through the door and this is what I found! Well, it wasn't exactly like this when I arrived, it was a load smaller, there was only one hammock and just Gryffindor hangings, but it's expanded as more and more of the D.A. have arrived."
"And the Carrows can't get in?"
"No," said Seamus, Neville wasn't lying when he said he was looking way worse. "It's a proper hideout, as long as one of us stays in here, they can't get at us, the door won't open. It's all down to Neville. He really gets this room. You've got to ask it for exactly what you need—like, "I don't want any Carrow supporters to be able to get in—and it'll do it for you! You've just got to make sure you close the loopholes! Neville's the man!"
"It's quite straightforward, really," Neville shrugged. "I'd been in here about a day and a half, and getting really hungry, and wishing I could get something to eat, and that's when the passage to Hog's Head opened up. I went through it and met Aberforth. He's been providing us with food, because for some reason, that's the one thing the room doesn't really do."
"Yeah, well, food's one of the five exceptions to Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration," said Ron casually.
Hermione held onto his arm and beamed up at him, everyone looked at the pair in surprise.
"So how long you've been in here?" Mel asked so the crowd would stop staring at her friends.
"We've been hiding out here for nearly two weeks," Seamus explained, "and it even sprouted a pretty good bathroom once girls started turning up—"
"—and thought they'd quite like to wash, yes," Lavender crossed her arms.
"Tell us what you've been up to, though," said Ernie. "There've been so many rumors, we've been trying to keep up with you on Potterwatch—You didn't break into Gringotts?"
"They did! And the dragon's true too!"
"Is it true that you've been helping muggle-borns flee the country, Flint?" A Slytherin questioned.
Erick's cheek turned slightly pink as he answered. "I—Yeah, some friends have been helping me."
The crowd erupted into cheers and applause once more, Ron bowed dramatically.
"What were you after?" Seamus inquired excitedly.
"Well, it's a long story..." Mel started.
Next to her Harry hissed and lowered his head, one hand shutting up at his forehead. Mel abruptly remembered why they'd gone to the castle in the first place. The boy stumbled sideways and Erick was quick to catch him before he fell.
"Are you all right, Harry?" Neville frowned. "Want to sit down? I expect you're tired, aren't—?"
"No," Harry looked at his friends urgently, he moved away from Erick. "We need to get going."
Ron and Hermione nodded, Mel drew out her wand.
"What are we going to do, then, Harry?" Seamus got closer. "What's the plan?"
"Plan?" Harry blinked. "Well, there's something we—Ron, Hermione, Mel and I—need to do, and then we'll get out of here."
"You forgot to mention me there, mate," Erick raised a brow.
No one moved, Neville crossed his arms. "What d'you mean, 'get out of here'?"
"We haven't come back to stay," Harry was rubbing his scar, he couldn't tell that what he was saying wasn't helping him at all. "There's something important we need to do—"
"What is it?"
"I—I can't tell you."
"Why can't you tell us? It's something to do with fighting You-Know-Who, right?"
"Well, yeah—"
"Then we'll help you."
"You don't understand," Harry grunted. "We—we can't tell you. We've got to do it—alone."
"Why?" asked Neville.
"Because... Dumbledore left the four of us a job," He looked up again, but he was blinking a lot, Mel started to feel a distant pounding on her forehead. "We weren't supposed to tell—I mean, he wanted us to do it, just the four of us."
"We're his army," Neville shook his head. "Dumbledore's Army. Mel's a Dumbledore and we were all in it together, we've been keeping it going while you four have been off on your own—"
"It hasn't exactly been a picnic, mate," Ron retorted.
"I never said it had, but I don't see why you can't trust us. Everyone in this room's been fighting and they've been driven in here because the Carrows were hunting them down. Everyone in here's proven they're loyal to Dumbledore—loyal to you."
"Harry," Mel started carefully. "We should let them help."
Her friends looked at her as if saying 'not now!' but none of them got to speak, because right at that moment the portrait opened, and someone jumped out of it.
"We got your message, Neville! Hello, you four, I thought you must be here!" Dean smiled openly at them. Seamus rushed over to engulf him in a bear hug.
"Hi, everyone!" Luna beamed. "Oh, it's great to be back!"
"Luna," Harry blinked, "what are you doing here? How did you—?"
"I sent for her," Neville said. "I promised her and Ginny that if you turned up I'd let them know. We all thought that if you came back, it would mean revolution. That we were going to overthrow Snape and the Carrows."
"Of course that's what it means," Luna piped up. "Isn't it, guys? We're going to fight them out of Hogwarts?"
At that Mel did panic, she shared one frightened expression with Harry and the boy tried to calm the crowd.
"Listen, I'm sorry, but that's not what we came back for. There's something we've got to do, and then—"
"You're going to leave us in this mess?" Michael Corner asked.
"No!" Ron said right away. "What we're doing will benefit everyone in the end, it's all about trying to get rid of You-Know-Who—"
"Then let us help!" Neville was starting to get angry. "We want to be a part of it!"
Mel wanted to be with her friends, be part of something that could remove some of the guilt she'd been carrying for months. She saw herself leading this group of kids, that could surely take down three adults, and she imagined how it'd be to have Hogwarts as their main quarters.
If they could do that, that would mean Voldemort would have no way to enter, therefore they would be in possession of one of the Horcruxes, and the basilisk was right underneath them as well!
On the other side, though, these kids had gone through enough, they were children that didn't have anything to do with what was happening. She refused to be like Albus, she didn't want to turn them into soldiers before they even had enough common sense to decide for themselves.
The portrait swung open again, out if came down Ginny, Fred, George, and Lee Jordan.
Her mind seemed to short-circuit as the twins grabbed a hold of her and Erick and pulled them in for a suffocating hug.
"Aberforth's getting a bit annoyed," Fred said to them. "He wants a kip, and his bar's turned into a railway station—Good to see you, Prince! How's your cousin?"
"He's—" Erick stopped and looked at him. "Wait, you know my Joseph?"
"I met him last July," Fred smirked. "Great dancer, but a better kisser."
Mel and Erick gawked and complained loudly at the same time. Cho Chang walked out of the portrait then.
"I got the message!" She said happily, walking over to Michael Corner and giving him a hug.
"So what's the plan, Harry?" said George, his arm still very much around Mel's shoulders.
"Alright," Mel pushed him away. "This is... guys..."
She looked at Harry with pleading eyes.
"Mel, tell me you're not considering it? We have no plan!" Harry looked at her stubbornly.
"Just going to make it up as we go along, are we? My favorite kind," Fred grinned.
"Perhaps... perhaps we can make it work, Harry," She appealed.
"What the hell are you saying?" Ron frowned. "Most of the people here are kids! They're not of age!"
"They don't have to fight!" Mel insisted. "We can keep them safe in here, and if we manage to take down Snape and take over the castle—"
"Then You-Know-Who comes around and we all die!" Erick stated.
"No!"
"Yes!" Her friends replied.
"You've got to stop this!" Harry turned to Neville. "What did you call them all back for? This is insane—"
"We're fighting aren't we?" Dean raised a brow. "The message said Harry was back, and we were going to fight! I'll have to get a wand, though—"
"You haven't got a wan—?" Seamus asked in bewilderment.
"I got a few," Erick responded as he casually pulled five wands out of his inner pocket.
"Ron, help me on this," Mel approached her friend. "Use that strategic brain of yours and if you tell me this would never work I'll shut my mouth and obey Harry, but if you think there's even the smallest chance we can do it..."
Ron looked down at her with a little frown, he closed his eyes tightly and tapped his foot impatiently, then he turned to look at Harry and blurted out:
"Why can't they help?"
"What?"
"They can help," He grabbed Hermione so she could listen to their conversation and started to speak in a whisper.  "We don't know where it is, we've got to find it fast. We don't have to tell them it's a Horcrux."
"Sounds good enough to me," Mel nodded. "If some of us run into the Carrows, though..."
"I need you to hold back your murderous needs for a second," Harry glared at her. He turned to Hermione waiting for her opinion.
"I... I think they're right. We don't even know what we're looking for, we need them! You don't have to do everything alone, Harry."
"Glasses," Mel put a hand on his shoulder. "Years ago it was just the two of us. Then two turned to four, then five... you remember what You-Know-Who's best at? He divides us, turns us against each other. We have a whole crowd of people that have proven time and time again that they want nothing to do with what the Death Eaters are offering. There's safety in numbers!"
Harry closed his eyes tightly, his hand went up to his forehead once more.
"Please, Harry," Mel insisted. "Have I ever been wrong?"
"All right," He muttered. "Okay!"
His voice silenced everyone else's, even Fred and George remained still, waiting for instructions.
"There's something we need to find. Something—something that'll help us overthrow You-Know-Who. It's here at Hogwarts, but we don't know where. It might have belonged to Ravenclaw. Has anyone heard of an object like that? Has anyone ever come across something with her eagle on it, for instance?"
"Well, that's her lost diadem. I told you about it, remember, Harry? The lost diadem of Ravenclaw? Daddy's trying to duplicate it."
"Yeah, but the lost diadem," Michael Corner started, "is lost, Luna. That's sort of the point."
"When was it lost?" Harry asked.
"Centuries ago, they say," Cho shrugged. "Professor Flitwick says the diadem vanished with Ravenclaw herself. People have looked, but nobody's ever found a trace of it, have they?"
"Sorry, but what is a diadem?" asked Ron.
"It's a kind of crown," Terry Boot explained. "Ravenclaw's was supposed to have magical properties, enhance the wisdom of the wearer."
"Yes, Daddy's Wrackspurt siphons—"
"And none of you have ever seen anything that looks like it?" Harry asked hopefully.
"Wait," Mel grabbed his arm and clung to it tightly. "Harry... I think you have!"
"What?" He frowned. "No, I haven't!"
"You have!" She insisted. "Last year, you were looking for a place where to hide the potions book, remember? And you came in here, and you told me exactly where you'd hidden it! You said you knew where you'd put it because—"
"There was a warlocks' head and I put a weird tiara on it," Harry grabbed her by the shoulders. "That's true!"
"But how can we know that was it?" Hermione frowned. "That place was full of rubbish, Harry! What if it was just a random tiara?"
"We should make sure first," Ron nodded. "You'd need to kick everyone out of this room to check—and I don't think that risking all of the younger students to get caught is a good idea if we're not certain that's it..."
"If you'd like to see what the diadem's supposed to look like, I could take you up to our common room and show you, Harry. Ravenclaw's wearing it in her statue," Cho offered politely.
Harry groaned again.
"He's on the move," He whispered to her and his friends. "Listen, I'm going to go and look at this statue, find out what the diadem looks like so I can confirm Mel's right. Wait for me here and keep, you know— the other one— safe..."
Cho got to her feet, Mel found herself blurting out:
"Luna should go as well! Safety in numbers, remember? And two Ravenclaws are better than one!"
"Oooh, yes, I'd like to!" Luna smiled brightly.
Erick and the twins looked away to hide their knowing smirks, Cho looked slightly disappointed.
"How do we get out?" Harry inquired.
"Over here..." Neville walked towards a bookshelf.
Mel grabbed Harry's wrist to get his attention.
"Be careful," She whispered. "Come back to me in one piece, alright?"
Harry seized her hand and kissed it briefly before following Neville.
"Always."

Steve was distraught. He sat completely still, head buried in his hands as his mind whirred. I string hand on his shoulder caused the man to look up, blue eyes meeting Tony's brown ones which were filled with sorrow and pity.
"I know you love her, but it's over Steve. They have her there's-" a crack in his voice made the billionaire pause, "there's nothing we can do this time."
"But I left her, Tony!" Steve shouted, standing up abruptly. "I could've saved her, and I didn't!" Steve's face was red, Tony's face taken aback. "She's your daughter and I didn't even save her..."
"Hey, stop." Tony snapped, pulling Steve's attention to him instantly. "I know she's my daughter but I also know that you love her enough that you wouldn't give up on her if you did t have too!" Tony wanted to shout, to scream at his friend.
"He's right, Steve. Well all know you love her." Nat smirked, arms crossed over her chest as she now leant in the doorway.
"How long have you been standing there?" Steve asked and Nat simply quirked a brow. Steve nodded and realised she'd most probably been there the entire time. "And how do you know...?"
"That your in love with y/n?" Nat clarified. Steve nodded. "It's obvious, Capsicle. You literally give her heart eyes whenever she's not looking and you always fidget when you're around her. But my favourite part," Nat pushed off the door frame, walking into the room, "is that you act like you hate her. I new you didn't have great experience with women, but I didn't know it was that bad." She remarked and Steve made to protest but was cut off.
"She's right, y'know. There's no way in hell a girl's gonna ask you out if you critique every last thing about her and give her the evil eyes every time she looks at you." Tony added, making Steve shut his mouth and stare at the ground again.
"B-but it's been weeks." Steve stuttered. "What's if she's... what if they killed her, Tony? I think that's on my. Her blood would be on my hands." He rambled, and Tony was about to reply when Bruce appeared at the door.
"You guys might want to come downstairs." He said quietly, and the three avengers already in the room looked at each other, confused. Steve quickly swiped the threatening tears from his eyes, him and Tony making their way down the stairs as fast as they could.
...
I burst through the doors, immediately met with the sight of Tony pointing to some papers the person next to him was holding and discussing something with them. My face broke out into the biggest smile, the sight of my dad after the hell I'd been through like a shelter from the rain.
I waved frantically, already breaking into a run towards him, his head snapping up at the wild movement and his face morphing into one of shock and relief, his arms held open.
"Lil?" His voice was full of concern as my arms wrapped around his neck when we collided, my legs wrapping around his waist and his hands finding their place on my back. "Oh my god, Lil, you scared us so much, scared me." He whispered into my hair, pulling back enough to cup my face in his hands. "It's you." I smiled.
I nodded my head furiously, burying my wet face into his shoulder, jumping down from the embrace.
"Lily?" The unsure voice from the edge of the room caught my attention, a grin spreading on his lips seeing me. I held back tears looking at him, my smile still wide. He walked towards me, enveloping me in a hug so tight it could crush a normal person. "I'm sorry. I'm so so sorry." He kept saying, his hand tangled in my hair.
I shook my head, sorrow filling my eyes as in stared at the man that had engulfed me with his body. He pulled back, looking sternly into my eyes.
"I know you think I hate you. But, I wouldn't wish what happened to you on anyone, Lily. Not even my worst enemy." Steve whispered, his eyes clouded with pity.
"Well that's new." Tony remarked seeing us hug, confusion lacing his tone. "Hey, kid, what's with the mute?" He pondered as I gave no verbal reply, Steve now looking deeply concerned for me too.
I sighed through my nose, pulling back the collar of the jacket to reveal the long, vermillion scar across my neck.
"You should go see the others, they'll be happy to know you're back." Tony said with a pitiful smile.
...
A million warm embraces later, tears shared and hearty laughs exchanged, I was just about ready to fall asleep and never wake up. I was about to excuse myself when someone tapped my shoulder. I turned to see Steve, a stoic expression on his face.
"Can we talk?" He asked, nodding his head towards the door. I nodded, following him out into the hallway. I laid my shoulder against the wall, observing Steve's constant pacing.
So what's up?
I quickly jotted down, handing the small electronic device Tony had retrieved for me to Steve, raising a brow. He stopped, looking me in the eye. He swallowed thickly, his Adam's apple bobbing.
"I can't tell you how sorry I am, I let him do that to you. It's my fault. I don't even know how to live with myself, I should've come looking for you, or-" I cut him off with a tap on the shoulder as I handed him the pad.
Cap, it's fine. I'm fine.
I stressed, writing in italics. The man read it with furrowed brows. cleared my throat before continuing.
I just don't know how long I can keep pretending to be happy, I just want to die.
I finally confessed, vision blurred and screen obscured with tears. A tear rolled down my cheek.
I don't know how to go on, every tome I close my eyes all I see him, what he did
My gaze averted from his as he read.
"Hey, hey. You're strong, you can do this. Let's go get you cleaned up." Steve suggested, looking at my through his lashes and placing a careful hand on my shoulder, which I flinched away from. I gulped.
Steve, there's a reason he let me go
I wrote down, finally meeting his gaze. His eyes were full of questions he didn't dare ask.
He let me go to send a message. He said that if we interfere with him again what happened to me will be child's play compared to what will happen.
His face dropped.
If a few days of torture is child's play, what does he have planned?
I asked, sobbing now.
"Lily, you were gone for three weeks." Steve added quietly, making me look up from where I'd been starting at the floor to meet his eyes. My eyes widened. Steve grimaced, nodding solemnly.
"Go have a shower, I'll grab you some fresh clothes and a towel. We'll talk more when you're feeling warmer and cleaner." He suggested again, and was met with a nod from me this time.
We reached my room, Steve holding the door opening for me and me giving a tiny smile that said 'thanks' as I walked in. I headed straight for the bathroom, taking my time in peeling the ripped tank top from my body and throwing the muddied shorts on the floor with them. Just then, the door opened, Steve walking in with a towel and some cloths folded on top. His eyes widened and he instantly apologised.
"Sorry, lily, I thought you'd be in the shower by now." But before he could walk out his eyes finally locked on me. His eyes raked over me, his eyes surveying my wrists, which were rubbed red-raw from chains and ropes; my neck, which was red and violently bruised; my bruised upper arms; my waist that was covered with finger-shaped bruises; my thighs, that were also bruised and finally my back that starred at him in the mirror. It was a mess of diagonal cuts, which were not longer bleeding but were still a blood red colour. I looked down at my feet nervously, feeling weird under his gaze.
"He did this to you?" Steve asked, tears in his eyes. I nodded, slowly looking back up at him. Before he could say anything else I cupped his face in my hands, smashing my lips to his in a kiss that conveyed everything I could never say out loud. After a moment, his hands reached for my face, returning the kiss. Our lips welded together, his tongue poking at my lower lip, begging for entrance that I granted. His tongue rolled over mine in languid stroked, soothing. I pulled back first, turning and pulling the shower curtain open. I climbed in, turning on the water and getting lost in the warmth and steam that swallowed me.
...
I walked out the bathroom, clad in one of Steve's T-shirt he grabbed for me, some shorts and fresh underwear. He must've noticed that I liked stealing Tony's shirts and given me one of his instead. Rubbing my hair dry with a towel, I dumped it on a near-by chair when my hair was only damp. Steve instantly stood from where he was sat on the edge of my bed when he saw me, looking at me with an unreadable expression.
I began writing, but before I could finish his lips were on mine and the little device was dropped to the floor. It was less desperate that the last time, more passionate and slow. It expressed everything we needed to say, and that was enough. My arms hooked around his neck, my fingers playing with the hairs at the base of his neck, whilst one of his tangled in my hair, the other resting on my cheek.
"You talk too much." He mumbled against my lips and we both let out a breath meant to be a laugh. "Too soon?" He asked before leaning in for another, our lips locking together. He pulled back and looked in my eyes, his hand running through my dampened hair.
He cleared his throat, stepping back from me, his gaze flitting from the door before landing back on me.
"I should go." He spoke, heading for the door. As he placed his hand on the door knob he froze at when I tapped on his broad back.
Don't.
The little device said. He had a hopeful look in his eyes.
Go. Don't go. Please.
I wrote , looking at him with pleading eyes. He nodded, walking back over to me.
I don't think I can be alone tonight.
I stated before climbing into my bed and patting the spot next to me. Steve hesitantly climes in beside me, laying behind me and draping his arm over my waist, pulling me into his firm chest. His body heat radiated over me and sleep soon took over as I sunk into him, his hand playing with my hair.
...
"Lil? Lily? Lily!" I shot up, panting hard and sweat covering my forehead. I slowly look to the side where Tony sat, a concerned look filling his eyes. My gaze looked at the door, where Steve stood, looking over me with what looked like fear, before going back to Tony. "Hey, kiddo, what happed?" He asked, stoking my hair. I swallowed thickly, breathing calmed down.
"You were restless, moving about in your sleep." Steve clarifies from the door, not wearing what he was before. He must've left after I fell asleep. I motioned for Tony to pass me the device which sat on the bedside table and he handed to to me.
I was back there. He was
I couldn't finish writing, the device falling from my shaking hand onto the duvet as I bit back tears, sinking into the embrace Tony held me in.

Tumblr media
Head.over.heals for youuuuu
The two of you met during mudano’s training game, where you were assigned as partners. she'd misheard and assumed she was assigned to shiki and jin's group. when she was talking to shiki everything was ok, until when she said hi to jin and he didn't respond; so she started crying
while that was going down, you were looking for homare, the moment you heard crying somehow you knew it was her. once you got there all you heard was "YOU MADE HER CRY! DIE!", to which you knew belonged to shiki. so the culprit must've been jin. without any hesitation you socked him in the face, pretty hard i might add. sent him straight to the ground
he would've tried to attack you, but honestly speaking? how could he when you looked at him with that scary face. "make my partner cry again...i'll give you a wedgie so far up your ass, that they'll need tweezers to get em out", you warned. when you turned around shiki and homare looked at you like "😦" and you were like "😅". congratulations, shiki is now your best friend and homare practically adores you not that she'd ever mention that
after that incident; jin gives you death stares, in which you always return. shiki always wants to hang out with you and homare? well she avoided you at first, you assumed you had scared her away. she actually wanted to thank you, but she was too shy to make conversation so she thought she could bake some cupcakes, as a way to say thank you instead.
you definitely asked her out first, she wanted to do it first but chickened out. She kept bowing and thanking you for accepting her, until you grabbed her shoulders and made her look you dead in the eyes. “You’re my girlfriend now, that comes with many perks. but the best perk is that I'll love you with all my heart and I won't make you doubt it for a second. So stop bowing and crying already”. Good job y/n, now she’s crying even harder :/
if there's one thing you’ve noticed is that homare loves physical affection, it doesn’t matter what it is just as long as she can feel some sort of friction. although another thing you’ve realized is that she needs words of affirmation. So any chance you get you’re hyping her up, even for the smallest things. She’s throwing out the trash? “WOO, THAT'S MY GIRL. TAKING OUT THE TRASH LIKE A CHAMP”. She’s baked something new? “DAMN GIRL, YOU’VE GOT MAGIC HANDS. NOT EVEN GORDON RAMSAY COULD MAKE SOMETHING THIS GOOD”. She appreciates it, she really does but most of the time her face gets a deep red and she’s shying away from any human eyes. Even during training you're cheering her on the simplest thing. She managed to keep her titan sister in check? “HOMARE MY LOVE, YOU’VE SAVED THE HUMAN RACE”. Que jin telling you to shut up, now the both of you are brawling while shiki is recording
She likes to do your hair, whether it’s short or long, hell even if you’re bald she’ll buy you wigs to style. Homare has those cute jewelry boxes with all sorts of hair accessories she uses on you. She also made you a charm bracelet and said it was good luck.
yall go on picnic dates, walks, or the park together. she also has a sweet tooth. when you found out, every time you're in the city you'd bring her back something tasty
homare loves to bake, so in her free time she bakes all sorts of treats. anything you want? she'll make it. even if she doesn't know how, she'll figure it out
without a doubt in my mind, ik for a fact her handwriting is amazing. so i think she'd write you letters and slip them under your door instead of texting. Even then if she wants to get a hold of you, you’ll use the can + string tactic and surprisingly it works. Sometimes the both of you will stay up late talking through your ‘phones’
homare is warm, im talking portable heater warm and what does that mean? She’s the perfect cuddle buddy, yes yes. there is no denying it, she loves to be cuddled. Although she’ll never mention it to you. So the moment you’re approaching her for cuddles, get comfy cuz she won't get off any time soon.

Tumblr media
Pairing: Daryl Dixon X Reader
Word count: 2.9 K
Summary: Daryl found you surrounded by the dead, stuck in the backseat of a car. You were wishing for death to take you away for quite a while now, but, as you slid back and forth into consciousness, there was only one thing keeping you alive. Him, the man with blue, worried eyes and kind voice. Your beaten up body was ready to give up, too wounded and broken to keep going. But this man, who went out of his way to save your life is the only thing in the world holding you up. And, because of him, you feel something you haven't felt in a very long time: hope. Wherever he's taking you, you want to get there, and not only to be buried. For what it feels like the very first time, you want to live. He takes you back to Alexandria, but even there, the nightmares and the terror from all the torture and pain you've been through keeps creeping closer, and Daryl, your hero, is the only one who can keep that all away.
Warnings: Mentions and description (not graphic) of past abuse; post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD); some violence at the end of the story (a little bit graphic, but not so much); blood.

Blue Eyes and Angel Wings
“Stay with me.”
The sentence is the only thing keeping you alive. The only thing keeping you from surrendering into darkness permanently. The lips from where they flow belong to the human blur that's constantly in your sight. The man with worried, blue eyes, the eyes that gave you something you didn't have for a very long time.
Hope.
You have been in the backseat of the useless car you stole, out of gas, surrounded by a sea of death. Their hands pushing the glass, blocking the daylight from coming in as you lied down, trying not to move, not to breathe, waiting for them to move along. But they didn't. Your sore, beat up body struggled, as the blood dried, as the wounds ached, as the pain became greater and greater until it stopped. Until your body went numb.
The glass wouldn't resist for too long. You only wished you'd die before they reached you.
The notion of time left your mind after a while. You only noticed as the day became night when the darkness overcame you completely. It happened twice. And yet, there you were still, more dead than alive, eyes locked on the back of the driver seat before you.
You don't understand why you didn't just die. Why your body was still trying to live. It was useless. A waste of time. In death, maybe, you'd find peace.
But at some point in your agony, a gap among the dead allowed the light to come in. But it only lasted a second before it was gone. Then it happened again. Your tired eyes followed the source of the light as they kept coming, over and over. Until you saw it. One of the dead falling, colliding against the window with an arrow on its head.
Someone had to fire that arrow, you thought. More gaps kept coming, and some of them remained for a little while. You didn't think you'd love the daylight so much, that you could miss the sun so much. Holding your breath, closing your eyes tightly shut, you used all the strength left in you to push yourself up, until you were seated, back colliding against the leather of the backseat. When another arrow came, your head moved to look for the source. That's when you saw him.
Blue eyes. Living eyes. They found you, going wide at the sight.
The dead kept dying. For another day and a half, until they were gone.
“Stay with me.” He says again, as your eyes open just enough to see the bottle he's holding before you. “Hold on. Jus’ a lil’ longer.” You feel the bottle touching your lips, and water fills your mouth, but most of it just rolls down, soaking your neck, chest, and clothes.
“Alright. Let's get goin’.” When he turns around, doing something out of your sight, your eyes fall on the angel wings on his vest. That's the image that burns in your head as you slip into your half-conscious state, being lifted up once again, moving, floating, hurting.
Sometimes you wonder if he only found you to carry you into death. Because that's where you feel like your heading. Right into death.
• • •
Breathing comes easily. A lot easier then it has for the last... You don't know. Time is lost to you, minutes, hours, days or weeks, it's all mixed up.
But you shouldn't be breathing if you're dead, then maybe you're not. Pushing the air in, a groan leaves your lips when a sharp pain on your side pushes the air out again. The pain is back. Death doesn't hurt, so this gotta be life.
So with that thought in your mind, you force your eyes to open, taking in a bright white ceiling. There's something in your face, covering the nose and mouth, and you're quick to remove it, suddenly realizing that thing was helping with the breathing. Your eyes scan through the place, seeing shelves and things on top of them. Beeps on your right, windows, and equipments you don't know.
Hospital. It looks like a hospital. But how can you be at a hospital?
“She wasn't just hurt, she was–”
The voice makes your heart start pounding, and you sit up, breathing heavily. You wonder where's the man with blue eyes. Did he leave you here?
The door is opened and two women come in. Pure terror clouds your senses and your blood runs cold, like ice. It can't happen again. It can't be happening again. You couldn't be given such a tiny bit of hope jut to fall into the same nightmare.
The younger woman moves, just a little, but it's enough to make you jump, pushing yourself further away, your body leaving the bed and hitting the ground hard. Trying to get up is useless. You know your body won't respond, so you pull the hospital bed down, and it collapses loudly on the floor. The tears already cover your face as you crawl backward until you find a wall. There's no place to go now. No way to run, or fight. You're trapped.
They'll hurt you again and there's nothing you can do.
Covering your head with both your hands, you pull your legs into your chest, despite the pain it shoots through your body, curling into a ball. As if it would protect you from anything.
“Honey?” Someone says in a low, feminine voice. “We won't hurt you.”
You've heard that before. It's always a lie.
“Hello?”
“Denise. Go get Daryl. Now.”
You feel them coming closer, and you hear as the hospital bed is lifted. This is it. It'll start. All over again.
“Hi, there.” A voice says, the same voice you've been listening for a while. Telling you to stay awake, to stay alive. Carrying you, holding you.
He's here. He didn't leave you.
Soaking in a sharp breath, you raise your head, your eyes finding him by the door. Your whole body relaxes, almost involuntary. The man hesitates, looking at the woman before making his way over you. The blue eyes capture you as he crouches next to you.
The words try to make they way out, but your throat is dry, sore.
“I'm Daryl.” He says, looking down before looking at you once again. “Yer hurt. Ya need to be taken care of.” He moves to the side a little, gesturing at the two women. “They'll take care of ya. Ok?”
Nodding weakly, you try to move, to stand up, but you don't know how to. When you look at your leg, you finally notice the blood that soaked the fabric of your jeans, ripped in the middle of your tight, giving you a sight of what's underneath. Your skin was sliced open, and you remember why. And who did it. The smile on his face as he drew the knife through your skin, inflicting the last wound he could before the dead came. Before you fled that hell on Earth.
Through the corner of your eye, you see Daryl's hand.
“I've been hurt too. I know how yer feelin’. But these people only want to help, alright?”
Lifting your eyes from his hands to his face, you remember it clearly now, with no share of doubt, how this man took care of you. For how long he carried you after almost two days killing off the dead for you. Slowly, you lay your shaking hand on top of his.
Slowly, moving your legs and holding your breath, you gather the courage to stand up again.
“I can put ya in the bed.” Daryl offers, and you lock eyes with him again. “I'm gonna pick ya up, is that alright?”
Nodding again, you watch as he slowly moves, an arm on your back and the other under your legs, slowly, carefully pulling you up. Soon enough you feel the soft mattress against your back as Daryl puts you down. Breathing out in relief, you see a woman approaching, the younger one, and Daryl steps back.
In a jolt of adrenaline, as fear starts building up again, you reach out, the sudden, fast movement making you groan a little when pain spreads through your arm. But you keep moving, grabbing Daryl's hand before he's out of reach. His skin is warm against yours, or maybe you're just too cold. You try to speak again, ask him to stay, beg if needed, but it just doesn't come out. Then you just look into his eyes, hoping it will be enough, squeezing his hand just a little bit.
“Daryl, I think she needs you to stay.” The other woman says, the one with gray hair. “Is that what you want, honey?”
Without looking away from Daryl, you nod, relieved when he steps closer.
“I'll start, ok? I need to see where exactly you're hurt and how serious the injuries are.”
“That's Denise,” Daryl explains, and you look at the girl as she hesitates before taking a scissor from somewhere, cutting your jeans just above the wound you saw. “And that's Carol. Ya can trust them, alright?”
Can you?
Holding Daryl's hand, you moan and wince, as many tears roll down. Every shot of pain makes you go back to imprisonment. The dark basement, the cold concrete, the men and women who came to hurt you, beat you, trying to force you to agree on complying with their filthy desires. And every time you said no, it got worse.
If it wasn't for Daryl's hand, you'd swear you were back there, being tortured again. But he keeps you anchored here, and you try to keep in mind that these people are trying to help. He said they would, so they might be.
“I will need her cleaned up before continuing. There's a lot of mud, dirt, and dried blood. I need her body to be clean to avoid any infections.” The woman Denise says.
“I can help her,” Carol speaks up.
“Good. Let's put her on the bathtub we have here.” Denise speaks fast, and you can't do anything but follow her with your eyes, motionless. “Daryl, get her some clothes. But pay attention. Nothing tight. And get those cotton shorts, you know? They look like leggings but are really short, I don't want nothing squeezing her leg, this wound is worrying me, and I–”
“Denise, why don't you go get those. I'll clean her up and...” Carol gives you a glance. “...I don't think she'll let go of Daryl.”
“Alright.” She nods, getting a piece of fabric to clean her hands. Clean them from your blood.
“Ok, honey. Let's do this.” When Denise leaves, Carol comes closer. “Daryl will take you to the bathroom and I'll help you, is that ok?”
Squeezing Daryl's hand, you look at him. Even though he's a man, you know you'd feel better if he helped you instead of this Carol.
“Daryl can stay there. Looking away. Would that make you feel better?”
Breathing out in relief, you nod. “I'll pick ya up then. Ready?” Daryl asks, carefully moving to hold you in his arms once again.
You close your eyes shut as the small trip to the bathroom makes your body complain. Your state of numbness is fading, so the pain gets more and more real now. It's hard to tell exactly where it comes from. You're aware of the cut on your leg, and sharp pain on your side, but all the rest is just mixed up.
Daryl puts you down in the tub, slowly. Carol comes in soon after, kneeling and turning on the water. Your eyes follow Daryl as he moves to the door, standing there, his back at you, giving you the sight of the angel wings on his back. Seeing it makes you relax, and you close your eyes to feel the warm water filling the tub.
Carol is patient. Very patient. The last thing you want is to take off your clothes, so she asks and waits until you let her help you remove them. The wounds burn in contact with the water, and the fact that you must rub the soap on them, to avoid any infections, only makes it worse. You can't help the tears rolling down, and the groans that leave your mouth. It feels good to take a bath, to remove all the mud and dirt, but you wish it didn't hurt this much. Your eyes always fall on Daryl, just to make sure he's still there. Carol also washes your hair, and you're thankful for that because you'd never be able to do that yourself.
After some time, you don't really know how much, you're done, and you have no choice but to sit on the edge of the tub as Carol helps you get dressed. The doctor, Denise, got you black underwear, a light gray tank top, and these soft shorts, that end up right above the cut on your leg. “I'm sorry, I know it's cold, but I don't want anything compressing your body right now. You're very...” Her voice fades and you look at the floor in between your feet. “Here. Take this.” You shake a little when you feel a weight on your shoulders, only to realize it's just a blanket. “Sorry.”
“Daryl. Can you take her back to the bed?”
“Yeah.” He finally turns around, those blue eyes finding yours almost immediately. “Hey. I can see yer face now.” He mumbles, picking you up again.
Once you're back in at the hospital bed, Denise finishes her job, covering all the major wounds. You just found out why your side hurts. Apparently, there are a few cuts on your ribs, right below your breast. As Denise stitches them up, the memory comes back, as vivid as if you were there again. That man, with dark brown eyes and a devilish smile, hovers over you, the needlepoint knife pressed against your skin as he said you'd soon give in, enjoy the pain, and ask him to that over and over again, in the most fun parts of your body.
The memory makes you flinch away when Denise's finger brush on your skin, and you desperately look around, looking for him.
“Hey. S’ alright.” Daryl's voice comes from behind you, and shyly, you reach out your hand, which he takes in a loose grip.
You're not sure how long you stay there, cold and whining, but eventually, the doctor is over. Carol wraps the blanket around you as Denise talks about the pills you'll need to take and how to keep the wounds clean. You don't really pay attention, wondering what happens now. Where you are, and if this new world revolves around this room alone.
“Honey.” Carol stands beside the bed, getting your attention. “We'll take you home now. Daryl and I share the house so you'll be with us, ok?”
Knowing you'll be around Daryl is what makes you nod, agreeing with her. Carol gestures at him, and he's quick to hold you up one more time.
In the last days, you've spent more time in Daryl's arms than anywhere else. It hurts, way too much, with every step he takes, even though you feel that he tries to keep you as still as possible. Ever since the man showed up, you've been feeling safe. You didn't think you'd ever feel safe around someone again. Everyone you met after you were forcefully separated from your first group tried to hurt you. But this man, a complete stranger, stopped whatever he's doing to rescue you. To bring you here, wherever this is, to help you survive.
When he steps out the hospital-like room you were in, you can't help but hide your face on his neck, protecting your eyes from the daylight. And protecting yourself from the small group of people you spot downstreet. Despite being curious to know where you are, you don't wanna look. You don't want people to see you, to know you exist, to think about you. If they don't know you're here, they won't want to hurt you.
“Welcome to your new house.” You hear Carol saying, and the noise of a door being open. Finally, you open your eyes to take in the... Normal house. If you tried really hard, you could even pretend this was a normal house from before... When the dead remained dead. “Daryl, upstairs. The guest room.”
He only murmurs a response you can't understand, and a minute later you're on a bed again, much more comfortable than the first. Your head rests on a fluffy pillow and a long breathe leaves from your lips.
Daryl steps back, turning to talk to Carol, both standing by the door, talking low. You don't try to understand, you just keep your eyes on the wings... Until they leave, disappearing in the hall.
“Sweety, Daryl will take a shower, ok? And I will make you something to eat, to sustain you until dinner. I'll be downstairs so if you need me, you just have to call.”
She waits a while before leaving too.
Being alone isn't the problem. The memories are. You wish your brain would stop working, stop trying to take you back to the cold, hard floor of the basement where you had a taste of what hell must be like. You try closing your eyes, but the darkness brings their faces back. Smiles, laughter, yells. All those people having fun with your suffering, placing bets on how long you'd resist before surrendering.
A couple of minutes later Carol comes back with a glass of water and scrambled eggs, helping you get into a sitting position and urging you to eat before leaving you alone again.
Frozen, you look at the eggs. They smell amazing, and slowly, you take some with your fork, raising it up to your mouth. The taste is so good it makes you ignore the pain spreading through your arm. Your stomach starts complaining violently, urging you to eat more. It's been quite a while, but still, you can't seem to push your body to work any faster. So you just keep looking at your food, trying to figure out which pain you can endure. On your arm or on your stomach.
A knock makes you look up, finding Daryl by the open door, damp hair, and a clean face. The very image of him calms your heart, setting it at ease. “Won't ya eat?” He asks, stepping inside and gesturing at the plate in your lap.
Weakly, you nod, taking some more and raising the fork to your mouth again, trying not to let him notice how your hand shakes, and you almost drop everything before successfully reaching your mouth.
“Do ya... Do ya need help?”
Blushing and embarrassed, you shake your head no, giving up eating. Focusing on not making a mess, you put the plate, still half full, on the nightstand, taking the glass of water. The weight seems to be too much, and your muscles give up trying to lift it, letting it slip and fall back on the nightstand.
“Lemme–” He mumbles, coming fast and taking the glass from your hand. You don't understand why he hesitates there for a moment, before kneeling beside the bed. “Here, drink.” Carefully, he brings the glass close to your mouth, and you lay your hand on top of his, taking fews sips, only then noticing the water is cold. How is the water cold?
That's when you finally take in the lamp on the ceiling, above the bed, the light on. They have electricity. What the hell is this place?
Pushing the glass away, you clear your throat, taking a deep breath.
“I'll leave ya to–”
“Stay.” It comes out suddenly, your voice so weak, so terribly low you barely recognize it. You didn't know you would actually say it, that this feeling, this need would build up and crawl its way out of your heart like that.
It makes Daryl stop in his tracks, already up and ready to walk away. The way he looks down at you, it's clear he's also wondering if he did hear you. You haven't spoken yet, you realize.
“Stay with me.” You force the words out again, repeating the same thing he said to you while he had to carry you through the woods. The words that kept you trying, fighting, struggling to have another chance to live.
“Alright.” He makes a small pause, eyes on the ground before taking a deep breath and sitting on the bed, near your knees. “We were worried. Thinkin’ ya couldn't speak.”
Shrugging your shoulders, you pull the blanket up when you shiver, holding it above your shoulders.
“Will ya tell me yer name?”
His blue eyes are locked on yours, and you feel yourself relaxing, calming down, more comfortable. “(Y/N).” You say, your throat burning a little.
A small, quick smile flashes on Daryl's lips, soon disappearing. But it was there, you know it. Slowly, he reaches out his hand, and you take it without hesitating, watching as he lightly shakes it.
“I'm Daryl. Nice to meet ya, (Y/N).”
