Actions they unintentionally do that turn on Ace... literally (Portgas D. Ace x GN!Reader)
Words: 1,188
Warnings: Cursing, suggesting smut. Hot, hot, hot Ace
A/N: If you have One Piece Requests... please send them! -Val
Tumblr media
It’s been a while since they joined the Whitebeard’s crew. The good thing is that Y/N adapted very well with everyone on board, the downside was the extreme comfort they seemed to feel with certain member.
Ace knew immediately that they were innocent and naïve, Y/N’s face gave them away, and as time went on and he interacted with them, it only confirmed his theory.
There is nothing wrong with this; on the contrary, Ace finds them a breath of fresh air. They’re always excited for adventures, Y/N‘s a dreamer, a caring pure soul. The real problem is him.
He’s very proud that Y/n’s regained the confidence taken away, and he feels warm to know they feel safe by his side. But that doesn't stop his mind from thinking things... that he shouldn't be thinking, not about Y/N.
For example: when they sit on his lap.
Part of the crew is in a bar, drinking and laughing while they tell funny stories. At some point, Y/N arrives and finds the group. When they get closer, everybody greets them and offers them alcohol. As their drink arrives, Ace’s crewmate looks for a place to sit. Although Marco and Sachi offer their chairs, Y/N’s already have their preferred spot in sight. The pirate goes straight to Ace and sits on his lap with a hand around his shoulders for support.
It's not the first time they've done this, Ace has no problem with this, but he wasn't expecting it at that moment, let alone in front of the others.
Y/N rests their body against Ace's bare chest as they follow the conversation and swing their legs. All the while, Ace keeps his arms at his sides, itching to touch Y/N’s legs or grab them by the waist. He tries to keep his mind occupied with the conversation instead of the warm body on him. The very idea of getting hard seems terrible to Ace. All this happening under the curious gazes of the crew.
Sleeping with him:
At first, Ace heard about Y/N’s sleeping problems because of the constant nightmares, so he offered to sleep on the same bed to reassure them. Now his body tenses up when he hears the door to his room being opened, footsteps approaching and the movement of the mattress.
“Are you awake?” Y/N whispers. He wants to act asleep but... “I know you’re awake,” they giggle.
He turns to Y/N, ignoring the need to caress their cheek, to hug them and run his lips and tongue all over their body, to tell them things he shouldn't, to slowly remove each garment and—
“Ace!”
He blinks out of his daydream. “What?”
“Your fire!”
He frowns and the smoke reaches his nose, he turns and notices the flames peeking into his room. “Shit!”
Ace manages to put out the fire and returns to bed.
Y/N chuckles. “Are you okay?”
He doesn’t see look up. “Uh, yeah.”
“You sure?”
“Noup.”
“You wanna talk about it?” He shakes his head. “You wanna go back to sleep?”
“Yes, please.”
Y/N snuggles closer. “Good night, Ace”.
And his ultimate downfall: caressing or pulling his hair.
Is it a kink? He’s not sure, but it did affect him. The worst part? Y/N does it all the fucking time!
One morning, he’s dreaming that he’s fucking Y/N like he’s always wanted. It feels so real, the touches, their moans, the heat... That’s why he doesn't notice that he’s grinding against their ass in the real world.
Y/N wakes up thanks to the movements and the feeling of something hard against them. They open their eyes and try to figure out what’s going on.
“Ace?” despite the strong grip on their waist, Y/N manages to turn around. “Ace!” Y/N shakes him by the shoulders, but he keeps moaning. They try their best but it’s always difficult to wake him up.
Then, they move Ace's body face up and sit above him. “Ace, wake up!” Y/N shakes him harder.
“W-What?” He opens his eyes startled, and he slowly comes to his senses. Y/N is on top of him, his hard cock, his body dripping in sweat. “What!?” He hears his heart pound in his ears.
“Are you okay?” Y/N asks him with concern.
“I’m…” His eyes travel all over their body. “I—”
“Were you having a nightmare?”
‘Holy shit’, he thinks. His body screams for sex and they think that he is having a nightmare. He can’t take it anymore. He doesn't know what to do.
Ace sits abruptly and Y/N yelps, feeling his boner. They frown and think that maybe they’re wrong, but…
“Ace, what’s going on?”
“You’re so naïve,” he says without thinking.
“Sorry?”
“No!” He grabs them by their waist. “I mean… I—” he sighs.
“Just tell me,” Y/N whispers.
Ace looks into their eyes. “You’re innocent and naïve and… there’s nothing wrong with it! But I… I can’t take it anymore!”
“What do you mean?”
“You’re killing me!” He laughs nervously. “Just think about it— you’re on my lap and I’m sure you can feel my cock.” They blush at his vulgar words. “Shit, now you’re uncomfortable— I… I’m sorry, Y/N,” he sighs, dropping his head on Y/N's shoulder.
“W-Why do you say that?”
“You must think I’m a pervert for thinking like that about you,” he explains.
“What do you think about me?” Ace frowns and comes out of his hiding place. “I-I mean, like what things? What kind?”
At that moment, Ace realizes that Y/N’s body’s telling him something too. They’re tense, skin flush, eyes on his lips and their hands… are caressing the back of his neck, dangerously close to his hair.
“I want you,” he answers. “I want… all of you. I want to be beside you, near you… inside you,” Y/N squirms at the last word, and he grunts. “You have no idea how much I’m starving for you and how I can't control myself when you sit on my lap, when we’re in bed— fuck, when you play with my hair...” he feels lighter telling the truth.
“Like this?” Y/N asks caressing the hair at the back of his head.
He tenses again and his length twitches.
“Y-yeah,” he almost moans. “When you pull it...” they do it and he grabs them harder. “Wait,” he stops, going back to reality. “You want this.” It’s not a question.
They look down. “I’m sorry for doing those things… it wasn’t my, I-I’ve never...” he grabs their chin gently to make them look at him.
“It wasn't your actions that frustrated me, Y/N,” he caresses their cheek. “It was the fact that I couldn’t do anything about it. Touch you like I wanted and needed, not without your permission.”
“Y-you have it.”
He smirks. “Are you sure?” They nod. “Use your words, I need you to say it. That this is what you want,” he leans closer, his nose tracing Y/N’s jawline.
“I want you, Ace. I want all of you too,” Y/N moans quietly when he kisses their neck.
“You won’t regret it,” he promises.

Gems ✨ (Sanji, Zoro and Ace)
A/N: If you want this with more characters, comment.
You have a fascination for rocks, stones, and gemstones. It’s been your hobby since you were a kid, but the real deal of it it’s to find one with the same tone as your loved one’s eyes. How would they react to this?
Tumblr media
Sanji
“Wait, maybe this one—no, maybe this—no!” You pout making Sanji chuckle. “Don’t laugh, it’s not fair.”
“I’m sorry, love,” he smiles and returns to cut the vegetables.
You sigh. “That’s the worst part! It’s not your fault,” You cross your arms. “It’s not your fault for having such beautiful blue eyes that I can't find in a stone.”
“I’ll take the compliment.”
“Whatever,” you roll your eyes. “It’s just,” you let out a groan and walk to his side. “Sanji,” you call him and he leaves the knife on the table. He’s surprised at the closeness, but you grab his face and make him lean to you.
“How the hell am I gonna find a colour as this ice shade of blue that is warm at the same time? This fucking blue that changes with light like a pure diamond. It’s so frustrating to look at your eyes because I want to admire them every minute! Your eyes are pure blue, like the all blue, my all blue, Sanji.” Your eyes tear and you pout again, then you leave Sanji’s face to hug him by the waist.
By instinct, he hugs you too, but his mind’s a blur. Sanji, the one and only lover cook, the man that always flirts with any woman (now just with you) the one that always knows how to embellish his words now paralyzed after your beautiful speech.
He keeps silent, so quiet that you don’t even hear his breath, so you step away to look at him with worry. “Sanji?”
“N-no one has ever… told me such beautiful things… in my life,” he says still in a trance as his cheeks tint in a pinky shade.
You gasp. “Are you… blushing?” You notice with wide eyes. “Did I make you blush?”
He shakes his head, coming back to reality and he realizes his cheeks feel warm. He laughs embarrassed. “How could I not if the most amazing woman that I love says those words?” he grabs you by the waist.
“I feel powerful,” you joke.
“Love,” he grabs your chin. “You have all the power over me, you must know that,” he softly kisses you. “I loved how you described my eyes, it made yours bright as well.”
You frown. “I’m still frustrated.”
He chuckles. “I’m sure you’ll find it soon, sweetheart,” he kisses you again, taking his time to embrace the feeling of pure luck of having a girlfriend who can make these little details something extraordinary.

Tumblr media
Zoro
“Zoro!” He groans as he drops the weights. “Zoro! Zoro!” Your voice increases as you approach the crow’s nest.
“What?” He asks in an exhausted breath when he sees you enter. He walks to grab his bottle of water and then sits down on the floor, back against the wall.
You run giggling and you sit next to him, crossing your legs. “I found it!” You squeal as you raise your hand and show him the gemstone.
“A rock?” He raises a brow.
“No,” you sing, “it’s not just a rock.” You roll your eyes.
“What is it, then?” He asks annoyed.
You smile again and lean to put the stone beside Zoro’s right eye “This is a gemstone the same shade as your pretty eyes— And!” You move it to his hair. “Has tints of green like your hair!”
Zoro’s body tenses when you get closer, but he tries to pay attention to your words instead. He frowns. “What?”
“Yeah!” You giggle returning to your place. “I’ve spent a month looking for it.”
He’s lost.
“Why?” He let out a chuckle and your smile faded.
You stare at him feeling your cheeks burn as you play with the stone in your hands. “I-I like your eye colour, and I thought… I mean—I could find it in a gemstone,” your voice and head are low as you speak. “Because it’s a different kind of—you know what?” You raise your head and tensely smile. “Maybe it was a bad idea,” You panic and try to stand up, but Zoro stops you grabbing your hand. You look at him confused.
“It wasn’t,” he didn't mean to make you feel bad, he genuinely didn’t understand, but as you told him a little, now he feels… odd. “Can I see it?” He blushes.
Your smile returns. “Sure!” You say giving him the stone.
He looks and your heart pounds in excitement.
“Uh—Can I… Can I keep it for a while?” He asks shyly.
You raise your brows. “Yeah, it’s okay. It’s your eye after all,” you giggle.
“You’re so weird sometimes,” he smirks.
The next day you’re showing Luffy some of your new stones till Sanji calls everybody to eat. Your captain disappears in a heartbeat while you take your time to store your stones.
“Hey!” Zoro sits next to you leaning his arms against his knees.
“Hi!” You smile. Then he sighs and seems like he’s debating inside his head. “What’s wrong?” You tilt your head.
He blushes hard. “I cut the stone that you gave me.”
“Oh,” you frown. “I—I mean, it’s yours, you can do what—”
“Here,” he interrupts you touching his left ear. You follow his hand and gasp loudly. He's always used his three iconic golden earrings, but now, behind the last one, there’s a piece of the gemstone.
You can’t close your mouth keeping your eyes on the jewelry, then you slowly and carefully touch it.
“You like it?” He smirks looking at you. His eyes show playfulness, you could cry right there.
“I love it!” You throw yourself to kiss him, and he catches you grabbing your waist. “You’re so sweet,” you coo close to his face.
“No, I'm not,” he frowns.
“Such a good boyfriend,” you insist.
“Stop it,” he laughs.
“And you look hot.”
“That’s what I like,” he kisses you.
**
Tumblr media
Ace
“Ace!”
“I didn’t do it!” He says by reflex making you giggle.
“Hands up! Star still,” you joke but he obeys anyway. You put your new stone beside his eye.
“Are you gonna take out my eye to sell it?” He asks.
You frown. “Why would I sell just one eye?” You back off.
He shrugs. “I never know your plans. I mean, I bet they’ll give you something, it's Fire Fist’s eye.” He says with a cocky smile.
“They want all of you, not just your eye—that’s not why—” You shake your head. “Never mind, look,” You raise your hand to show him the rock and he quickly takes it.
He knows about your love for rocks, and he always waits for you to explain the rock’s story. He loves how excited you get. “Awesome! What are you gonna tell me about this little guy?” He closes one eye to look at the details.
You blush. “It’s uh, it’s a special one.”
“Why?” He asks still distracted.
“It’s… it’s the same colour as your eyes.”
He tilts his head. “Really?” He looks around him. “Wait, I need a mirror,” he stands up and runs inside de ship. He comes back a few minutes later with a piece of mirror in his hand. He raises it and puts the rock beside his eye again. “Wait,” he frowns, “it also has a little red. My eyes are red?”
You giggle at his confused face. “No, you don’t have red in your eyes. That’s because it’s made of lava, it’s like it has fire in it… like you.”
He lowers his hands to fully look at you. he stays in silence for a minute, then smiles wide. “It’s amazing! How did you find it?” He asks excitedly.
Your chest feels warm and your heart pounds hard against it. Not many people appreciate your love of gems, so you can't help but get a little teary-eyed as you share this with your boyfriend.
“It took me months, but it was worth it,” you smile.
“It’s cool—but why did you want to look for a stone the same colour as my eyes?”
“Uh,” you flush. “’Cuz I like your eyes, dummy.”
He smirks, and he opens his mouth to tease you, but then, an idea comes to his mind. “I got an idea, can I?” He says like a little kid pointing to the stone.
You frown . His ideas can get a little… unexpected. “With—with the gemstone?” He nods. “Yeah, I guess.”
“Great!” He says, lighting up his finger with a fire flame and cutting the stone in half with just one movement. You look at it in shock.
“What!? Why? Ace?”
“It’s all right, sweetheart, trust the process.”
He kneels and unties both of his boot’s laces and then he wraps the stone in them several times. “Ta-da!” He says showing you an improvised kind of necklace. You grab it while he does the same with his half.
“Let me help ya’,” he walks and puts the stone around your neck. “Ha! Now I always have an eye on you!” He laughs at his joke. You touch your stone and look at his moving against his bare chest. “Bad joke, I know but… are you okay, angel?” He asks with worry.
Your best answer is to jump into his arms and hug him tight. He quickly catches you by your waist. “I love you, Ace,” you whisper with the biggest smile on your face.
He chuckles. “I love you too.”

With Luffy!? (Monkey D. Luffy x fem! reader)
A/N: I just need more inspiration! send requests! - Val
Words: 1,130
Tumblr media
A normal day at the Sunny is about to change when it lands on a new mysterious island. Y/N and Zoro are the first to go to the town to get supplies.
Before the rest could leave the ship, a little boy runs through the low deck. The kid giggles and runs everywhere until he stops in front of the crew and waves his little hand.
Nami, Usopp, Robin and Chopper stop and stay still as their eyes follow him.
“Hi!” He smiles and runs again.
“A kid?” Chopper asks.
“How?” Then Usopp.
“Doesn't he look..?” Nami starts.
“Like Luffy!” Robin smiles.
***
They start with some questions when they catch him.
“What’s your name, sweetie?” Nami asks with a smile.
The boy giggles. “You know my name, Auntie Nami.”
“Where are your parents?” Usopp says next.
“I dunno,” he shrugs.
“Are you sick or hurt?” Chopper asks.
“No needles!” He screams and runs again.
Now, he enters the kitchen. A couple of minutes later, Sanji exits the kitchen with the kid in his arms. The boy has a bottle of water.
“Does anybody know where Joy’s parents are?” He asks the others.
“Joy?”
“Yeah, that’s his name.”
Eventually, the others get together, and they all fall in love with the charming boy. Franky decides to make a highchair and immediately, baby-proof the Sunny. Brook starts to play his violin to him and makes funny songs.
“I can’t help it, he’s really cute!” Nami squeals hugging Joy and pushes him to be cheek against cheek as he giggles.
“Pretty Auntie Nami,” Joy points at her.
“And so smart!”
“Wait,” Usopp says walking to them. “She’s your auntie?” He points at Nami and Joy nods. “Who is she?” Usopp points to Robin.
“Auntie Lobin.”
“Okay so, the mother’s not here and we can’t ask where he came from or his birthday.”
“Am fou,” Joy says raising four fingers.
“Oi, Sanji! I’m hungry!” Luffy yells jumping and landing on deck.
“Dadda!” Joy squirms in Nami’s arms to run to his dad. The kid holds Luffy’s leg and giggles “Hi, dadda!”
“Uh—hi?”
“I’ve never thought to live long enough to see Luffy with his son… Even though I’m already dead!” Brook laughs.
“My what!?”
The kitchen’s full of laughs from the crew and the little boy as Luffy keeps making silly faces, stretching his face, and playing with his food to make Joy laugh too. Of course, Joy loves his dad’s and crew’s attention. After a while, little Joy boy yawns and scratches his eyes.
“I sleepy,” he pouts. “Wan’ my Mommy.”
The crew share a tense look not knowing what to do.
“Dad,” Luffy looks at him. “Wers Mamma?”
“Uh—she’s...”
“We’ve arrived!” You yell from outside.
Joy turns his head to the door and squirms trying to get out of the highchair. Luffy frowns and helps him.
“Mamma?” He says leaving the kitchen. The crew follow him. When the kid sees you, he smiles and runs to you raising his little arms. “Mamma!” You frown down at him as he keeps jumping “Up! Up! Pwease!” You let down the shopping bags and carry the strange kid.
He holds you by the neck, leans to rest his head on your shoulder as he sucks his thumb and closes his tired eyes.
“Awwww,” the crew sing at the cute scene.
You look at them confused.
“We leave you alone and you kidnap a kid?” Zoro asks completely lost. “And...” He leans to see the peaceful kid. “One that looks like Luffy?”
“It’s a long story,” Robin says.
“Has anybody else heard Joy say ‘mamma’ to Y/N?” Usopp asks carefully.
“Joy?” You ask.
“Hmm?” The boy leans back to look at you.
“Oh,” You understand it.
“Night-night?” He asks.
“Uh—okay” You look at the crew waiting for an answer, but they all shrug. “Fine, I’ll put him to bed,” You walk to your shared room. “Wait, did you call me mamma?”
***
“All right, he’s asleep. Now, explain,” you point at the others.
“Luffy's son and mine!?” You squeal. “What? How? Why? When?” You look at Luffy and he only smiles.
When Joy wakes up again, he says he wants to play with his uncles. More specific, with Zozo, Uso, Faky, Saji, Book and Fluffy (Chopper). Luffy pouts when Joy doesn’t mention him, but you take the chance to talk to him.
“Why aren’t you freaking out?
“‘Cuz I like him,” he smiles.
“Luffy, please. You need to think about this. He’s a little boy, our little boy.”
“Yeah, I know that. And I think it’s awesome,” he points to the low deck, where Joy’s playing tag with his uncles. “I know he looks like me, but he also does the scrunchy nose thing when he smiles, like you do.”
“What?”
“Yeah, and he looks like you when he pouts. Oh! He caresses my cheek like you do when we’re alone and I think you two have the same eyes.”
The truth is that when you joined the crew, you couldn’t help but think about your captain differently. But the time showed you that Luffy doesn’t care or think about having a relationship beyond crew mate with anybody.
Besides, that was a long time ago.
That’s why you can’t believe (if Joy’s from the future) that you’ll have a kid with Luffy. But his words did affect you and moved so many things inside you, and, of course, you can’t deny that your kid is the most beautiful boy you’ve ever seen.
“Luffy?”
“Yeah?”
“Do you know how to make a baby?”
He frowns. “Uh… yeah. Why?
“Just curious,” You walk away with a blush on your cheeks.
“Les go night-night again!” Joy says holding Luffy’s hand.
“Joy, wait. Dad has to sleep in his own room,” You stop him when he guides both of you to your room.
“Good night, kiddo’,” Luffy says and walks away, but the cry of his son makes him stop in his tracks.
You quickly carry him in your arms. “What’s wrong?” You ask him.
“Dadda come night-night with mommy an me!” He yells pointing at Luffy.
***
“Good night, Kiddo”
“Night-night, Dadda, night-night Mommy.”
“Sweet dreams, baby,” you kiss his cheek.
You had to move Nami’s bed and put it next to yours so that all three could fit in. Although Luffy and Joy are fast asleep, for you it takes more time. You watch them as the moonlight shines through the room.
You smile as Luffy moves and groans in his sleep, facing you and Joy. His arm moves and stretches enough to hug both of you closer to him. It’s quite crazy knowing that you’ll have a kid with Luffy, but you can’t deny that you could get used to it… anytime.

Three times Luffy fell for you (Monkey D. Luffy x Fem! Reader)
A/N: So fucking cute! Send more requests and help :v - Val
Words: 1, 763
Warnings: Spoilers of anime/manga One Piece! Mentions of death, and I think that's all.
Tumblr media
Three times Luffy fell for you.
Luffy wakes up in the middle of the night, but this time, it’s not because of a nightmare or a noise, he just feels weird.
His first thought is to go to the kitchen to find some food. Of course, he couldn’t get anything, thanks to Sanji’s tramps. He whines, but a noise interrupts his thoughts. He realizes it’s someone crying.
He gets to the Sunny’s deck, and he finds you sitting on the stairs. “Y/N? Are you okay? Why are you crying? Are you hungry too?” He quickly sits beside you.
You look at him startled and feel overwhelmed by the rain of questions. It only makes you cry more. He panics and decides to hug you instead of trying to keep talking.
As you feel his body around you, you melt against him hiding your face on his chest. He stretches his arms around you many times to hold you tighter and rest his head over yours.
The two of you stay like that until you stop crying, you can control your breathing and you stop hiding. He loosens his grip but still holds you.
“I had a nightmare,” you say with a broken voice. “I lost all of you and I couldn't do anything to stop it.”
Luffy hums. “I had that kind of nightmares too,” he sighs, “I can’t blame you, they’re really scary and it feels real.”
“Yeah,” you nod.
“But you know who hates them the most?” You lean back to look at him. “Zoro,” he giggles. “When I have those nightmares, I have to make sure everybody’s okay, but the first person I see it’s him, so I wake him up every time. And it’s hard to wake him up and, he’s never happy,” Luffy makes a funny scary face that makes you giggle.
“And sometimes the others wake up too, so they all start to scream at me, but it’s okay. At least I know they’re fine,” he smiles.
“That’s a good solution,” you say sarcastically, but Luffy doesn’t get it.
“Right?” His chest starts to feel funny when he sees your smile again. “See? You’re not the only one with that nightmare. Everybody’s okay. And I’m here with you, and I heard the others snore, so they’re okay too!” You giggle again.
“You’re right,” you sigh. “Thanks, Luffy.”
Now Luffy feels funny in his stomach, so he remembers.
“Oh, right! You know, this could be a great moment to have a sweet!” He pouts. “But, bad news, Sanji locked the fridge again,” he whines.
You laugh at his childish behavior, but you move a little to lose more of his grip and turn to the side to pick up a small blue box.
“Here,” you offer the box. “You can have the honor to eat my last cookie.”
Luffy’s eyes sparkle. “What? The last one? Really?” You laugh and nod. “Thank you!” He squeals grabbing it, but then, he stops to look at the cookie and then at you. He frowns when he still sees your teary eyes, pink cheeks, and tired smile. “I want to share it with you,” he says breaking the cookie in half.
“What!?” You exclaim. “You never share your food with anyone. You just take it all!”
He laughs at loud. “But I want to share with you! C’mon, captain’s orders” he says with a playful authority.
You giggle. “Are you sure?”
“Yeah!” He smiles.
“Thank you, Captain.”
“You’re welcome!” He turns his sight to his half of the cookie and eats it in one bite.
You take a moment to see the details on Luffy’s face, his skin, his rebel and raven hair, some freckles, his nose, fine lips, and his eyes, always full of excitement. Without thinking much, you lean forward to kiss his cheek.
He raises his brows and looks at you with a confused face.
“Why did you do that?” He asks curiously.
You shrug. “I wanted to,” then you panic. “I—is that okay?”
He smiles. “Only if I can kiss you whenever I want,” he says without any sign of flirtation.
You blush. “W-what?”
“It’s only fair, right?” He says with a chuckle, so casual and calm while you’re a mess. “Deal?”
“D-Deal!”
He nods and looks at his ship, but there’s still something he can’t figure out. The funny feeling in his stomach increased and now it’s on his chest too. Maybe he has to ask Chopper about it… or eat more.
Every year, on the same day of Ace’s death, Luffy gets so quiet that it feels wrong.
Sometimes, Luffy’s complicated in other situations, but this is another level. Nobody knows what to do. They’ve tried to ask him, but he doesn’t talk all day and he rejects any help from his crew.
He’s sitting in his favorite spot, he’s been looking at the horizon for many hours, just until he hears someone’s steps and groans.
“Shit,” you say grabbing another part of the Sunny’s head as you keep trying to climb it. There’s a reason why this is Luffy’s spot. It’s hard for someone without a devil fruit.
Luffy leans to look at your struggle. He frowns, stretches one arm to grab you by your waist, and pulls you to his side.
“Uff… thanks, Luffy!” You smile gratefully.
“Why do you want to climb?” He asks. His voice’s raspy.
“Oh!” You act like you’re not worried about his state. “I-I know you uh, you don’t like anyone else to sit here but...”
“No,” he interrupts you. “It’s okay. You can.”
You smile blushing.
“Thanks, uh...” you move on your place “I just—I Just don’t want you to be alone for so long,” you whisper. “I mean, I can go if that’s what you want, I know it’s a hard day for you but...” You look at him. “You don’t have to face it alone.”
He doesn’t answer, he just moves and lays down with his head resting on your lap. Then, he reaches for your hand, and when he finds it, he puts it on his hair. You catch what he wants and start brushing the tufts with a soft giggle.
“Thanks,” he whispers.
It’s a tradition for the straw hats to throw a huge party after a tough fight and this isn’t the exception.
Zoro and Nami are betting about who can drink more sake while Usopp’s singing with Brook and Franky since they lost a bet, Robin’s watching them dancing around. Chopper and Luffy are eating all Sanji’s making.
At first, you celebrated with the same enthusiasm as your friends, but now, you feel like your body’s finally giving up. You return to the Sunny, directly to your room.
As much as you want to take a shower to wash off the party’s sweat, your body aches so much that you think it wouldn’t work on your own and you don’t want to call Robin or Nami for help.
“Just the pj’s then,” you say out loud. You leave the weapons on the floor and grab your shirt to pull it up, but the pain of your wounds stops you. “Fuck!” You groan.
“Are you okay?” says Luffy arriving at your room.
You turn to him scared. “Shit, Luffy!” You yell at him, and he smiles.
“Sorry,” He walks up to you. “Why did you leave the party?”
You chuckle. “Shouldn't you be... you know, turning into a big ball full of food and having fun?”
“It's no fun if you're not there,” he says like is nothing, but you’re blushing, and your heart pounds. “So, why you don’t go back?”
You shake your head. “I’m exhausted, Luffy. I can’t even put on my pj’s,” you laugh.
“Oh! Do you want me to help you?”
His eyes tell you that his offer is pure and innocent. You’re 100% sure that your captain has no other intentions. But you can't help feeling uneasy and nervous.
“Y-you don’t have to.”
“I want to.” He smiles and you nod.
He grabs the end of your shirt and gently pulls it over your head. You hiss a little and then throw the shirt away. When you look up, Luffy’s eyes are on the bandage around your waist.
“Luffy?” You almost whisper.
“You fought great,” he grins and he feathery touches the bandage. “You’re an awesome fighter,” he nods.
“Thanks.”
“Sometimes… I forget that you and I are different in battle.”
You frown. “What do you mean?”
He returns to your eyes. “You can't last as long fighting as me, you get exhausted sooner and you heal last,” then he smiles. “But no matter how strong your opponent is… you always find a way to win,” he giggles. “You always surprise me with your smart brain.”
“Really?” You smile.
“Definitely.”
You realize the proximity of your bodies, Luffy's breath mingles with yours and your noses almost touch. You can’t help but lean a little up and kiss his lips sweetly. It lasts a few seconds, and you move away, waiting for his reaction.
He frowns. “Wait! I’m feeling funny again!”
“What?”
“It’s like—I dunno. When I’m with you… in my belly—and chest—and then you kissed me, and it got worse!” He steps back. “It’s all your fault!” He points at you.
You think for a while about all his words and his reaction, then, you figure it out. You blush with a smile. “I feel the same, Luffy.”
“You do? Are we sick? Are we gonna die?”
You giggle stepping closer to him. “No. It means that you like me and… I like you.”
“I don’t get it. I like everyone in the crew but with you it’s different,” he pouts.
You nod and take his face in your hands. “It’s okay, Luffy,” you whisper leaning to kiss him again. This time the kiss is longer, and he reciprocates following the movements of your lips against his.
“I’ll explain it to you, I promise...”
“’Kay, but does it mean that we can keep kissing? It feels nice.”
You giggle. “Yeah, we can do that, but...” you flush looking down, realizing you’re just in a bra and jeans. “Can you help me with my clothes? I’m still tired.”
“Oh, right!”
He undresses you, leaving you in your underwear, and then helps you with your pajamas, and cuddles up with you in your bed and so it starts a make-out session between whispers, laughter, and love. At some point, you fall asleep, resting on his chest as he hugs you without hurting you.

I’ve learned something new (Monkey D. Luffy x Fem!reader)
A/N: I'm so excited for this One Piece era.
Words: 746
Tumblr media
At this point, it becomes a special tradition for y/n and Luffy to always search for something to share. When the Sunny arrives at a new island, they have to find something new to share with the other one.
A new fruit, plant, color, secret paths, traditions, words, games, jewels, a new handshake, rocks, bugs (Luffy’s favorite), etc.
One day, she’s already on board at the Sunny, waiting for him.
“Y/N! Y/N!” She smiles recognizing the voice.
She turns around at the same time Luffy lands in front of her. They both smile at each other.
“Yes, Captain?” she asks making him giggle.
“Guess what?” he answers.
“What?” she follows the same dialogue they always use.
“I’ve learned something new!”
She laughs at her enthusiastic captain.
“What is it Lu—” she gets interrupted by Luffy’s lips against hers. Her eyes stay open in shock for the few seconds the kiss lasts.
Luffy ends the kiss, and he looks at her with a big, pleased smile.
“What? Why? When? What?” Y/N stutters. Luffy chuckles. “You- you kissed me.”
“Yep!”
“Why?” She frowns confused at Luffy’s reaction to the kiss.
She knows him, they have been close since she joined the crew, and maybe, just maybe, she had a small, tiny crush on him, but being his friend, she could read how he processes many things, and relationships are something complicated to know for sure whether he gets them.
He knows the meaning of friendship, nakama, and family, yes. But boyfriend, girlfriend, and all of that, she’s not sure.
“I’ve learned something new at the island,” he points out.
“You learned how to kiss?”
“No,” he sings. “I found some nice people with Sanji and Nami. And they told us that, if you love someone, you must kiss them, so,” he chuckles, “I did it.”
She stays in silence for a moment trying to figure out if he’s joking, or what. But Luffy’s innocent and excited smile confuses her.
“I- I think you misunderstood them, Lu.”
“Uh?” he tilts his head. “But, Nami said- wait,” he pouts. “You didn’t like the kiss?”
Her heart jumps on her chest and her face blushes hard.
“No- I mean yes. It- it’s not that,” she stutters confusing Luffy, as he keeps looking at her with his puppy eyes. She sighs. “Listen, what they mean… is for uh- a romantic partner? Like a boyfriend and girlfriend. It’s when you want someone more than a friend or a crewmate or nakama.”
“Could someone be more than my nakama?” He asks surprised.
She sighs again.
“It’s different, Luffy. You must feel different for that person.”
He keeps thinking her words while she’s having a mental debate, wondering if he had kissed her as a mistake or…
She waits but Luffy gets distracted by something else, and he steps away. She lowers her shoulders in disappointment. Y/N wants to walk away and cry about how stupid she was, but Luffy’s hand wraps around her wrist and stops her. She turns to him.
“No, wait, I was thinking something,” he adds with a frown.
“It doesn’t matter, it’s okay.”
“Nami and Sanji scolded me today,” he remembers. “’Cuz I said I wanted to kiss you, but then they explained to me like you just did and I-” he returns to his enlightened smile, “Sanji said that I could kiss you whenever I want to if you’re my girlfriend —or something like that—and that sounds amazing! So, will you be my girlfriend?”
She looks at him surprised as he waits with a smile. He kind of understands what she said before, and now that he has Sanji, Nami, and Y/N’s information, he just takes whatever he likes about it.
“Luffy...” she blushes.
“I like the idea of being more than Nakamas, and I want to kiss you every day and hug you and be with you. And it’s different than the others… I don’t want to kiss Usopp, ew!” She chuckles at his disgusted face. “Do you want to kiss me too?” He asks with hope in his eyes.
All the anxiety disappears, and she doesn’t want to think about anything but Luffy… or his kisses.
“Yeah,” she answers shyly.
He screams and laughs with joy as he wraps his arms many times around her waist to pull her closer to his chest.
They kiss again.
“Your lips are soft, I like them!” He informs. She giggles.
“And I like you, Captain.”

Mermaid's Call (Roronoa Zoro x fem!Reader)
A/N: Working on your requests, but meanwhile... (send more)- Val
Words: 4,257
Tumblr media
You’re sitting on the handrail of the ship’s deck, looking to the horizon and the ocean in front of you, waiting for the sunset. You like how the breeze gives you goosebumps, while your lungs refresh themselves with every breath.
For a few weeks now, this has been part of your routine, and the crew on board understand that they must give you alone time. It’s a moment of peace in the face of the chaos, a time to not think about problems, the danger of the grand line, conflicts with other pirates or enormous creatures... or Zoro and the fact that you have been avoiding and running away from him every time you spot his green hair.
Although he didn’t dare to interrupt your private moments, you could feel his gaze on you for the rest of the day, and he’s even tried to talk to you, but you always manage to escape.
“Just five minutes, I promise it’ll be quick!” Says Luffy behind you.
You turn over your shoulder to see him walk beside an irritated Nami. You giggle at the sight and move to watch it better.
“For the millionth time; NO!” She stops walking. “Sanji will be back in any minute now, you can’t leave!”
“But,” Luffy pouts. “It’s a new island, we must explore—”
“An island surrounded by marines ready to kill us, Luffy!”
“I can be cautious and quiet,” he says, almost offended. “Just a quick run and—”
“I said, no. It’s too dangerous,” Nami says, to keeps walking to her trees.
“But… I’m the captain,” Luffy whispers. He stomps his foot one time and crosses his arms. His childish behavior makes you laugh, and he turns to you.
“It’s not funny.”
“Sorry, Captain. But it is,” you answer.
In that moment, Zoro walks pass you and your smile fades. He yawns stretching his strong body. He looks at Luffy.
“I’m headed out to buy some booze,” he says.
As soon as you see him turn towards the exit, your body reacts immediately, and you grab him by the bicep. “Wait!” He looks at your hand and then at you with a frown. “We can’t leave. The island’s surrounded by marines. It’s dangerous,” you repeat Nami’s words.
He raises a brow and looks again at your hand. You follow his gaze and quit grabbing him.
“Sorry,” you whisper. You can’t deny the sting in your chest when he shakes his arm, like he’s shaking off your touch.
“Why are we here then?” He says coldly.
You look down at your hands playing with your fingers. “Sanji went to town to buy emergency supplies,” you explain.
“Oh, so the waiter can leave, but not me. Ridiculous,” he scoffs rolling his eyes and walking back to the exit.
“Zoro!”
“You don't rule here, alright princess?” He hiss looking over his shoulder. “He does.” He points at Luffy, who’s leaning on the railing still with a pout.
“If you leave, you’ll owe me 10000 berries,” says Nami walking to us, crossing her arms.
Zoro raises his brows looking at her. “What? Why?”
Nami shrugs, “It’s up to you, Zoro. That’s the rule.”
They start arguing while you sigh, grateful for Nami’s interruption. You know her real intentions to distract Zoro. You walk away towards the railing where you were before, now next to a disappointed Luffy.
Suddenly, the slow beginning of dusk abruptly changes to the darkest night you have ever seen.
“Hey! Who turned off the sun!?” says Luffy.
“That was weird,” you add.
You all wait for something to happen, but the only noise that is heard is a sharp thump, Usopp's screeches, followed by Luffy's laughter.
“Y/N?” asks Nami.
“Got it,” You say as your body lights up and small electric rays burst around you.
The main deck is bright enough for Nami and Zoro to look for flashlights and put them all over the boat.
“What now?” Usopp asks, rubbing his head from the fall earlier.
“We should be alert, it might be a trap,” says Nami.
Everyone gathers in a circle, ready to attack. However, minutes pass and nothing happens.
“Just when I thought something interesting would happen,” Luffy scoffs taking his place again.
“I'll take a nap,” Zoro says walking towards a corner.
Usopp shrugs and sits on the ground while Nami glares at them.
“Woohoo! Look at that!” Luffy yells pointing at the sea.
You turn and stand next to him, trying to focus your eyes on what he’s seeing. “I don't see anything, Captain,” you frown.
“No, I swear. I saw a tail, like, a big one! Like a big fish!” With those words his stomach growls. “We should cook it.”
In that moment, something else catches your attention, a sound. While Luffy tries to convince Nami and Usopp, your ears catch a melody that they don't hear. The sound increases as if it were approaching from the sea.
You lean on the railing and look down, where the water moves as a shape emerges from it. You gasp when you recognize, among the poor lighting, a woman, or so it appears.
She connects her gaze with you, opens her mouth, and moves it to the sound of a beautiful song. “Wow...” you whisper. The woman frowns as she continues singing and seems to raise her voice.
“Hey! Guys, look what—uh...” you turn to the others but there’s something odd with them. “G-guys?”
Usopp and Nami are standing in front of you, but their bodies are stiff, and their gazes are lost. You approach slowly and notice that even the color of their eyes changes to a grayish one as if they were cloudy.
“N-Nami?” You move her shoulder, but she still doesn't react. You turn to your right, where Luffy is now standing in the same state as the others. “Shit.”
You hear a splash followed by a crash behind you, you turn to find the same woman sitting on the railing, only, instead of being curious about her, now it is pure terror as you see her skin covered in pointy scales, snake eyes, and a fishtail.
“Uh, hi?” You try to speak, but his reaction is the opposite of what you expected; She frowns again, tilts her head, and tries to sing again, she looks at you as if she is expecting something, she opens her mouth showing her sharp teeth and pointed tongue.
The creature moves its body in such a way that it lets its scales launch towards you with great speed. You flinch back, dodging her attack and falling to the ground.
“Holy shit!” You yell and look towards the others. “What the hell's going on!?”
The creature hides its teeth and sings again, this time looking directly at Usopp.
He blinks several times and looks at the mermaid, “Kaya?” He gasps. “What are you doing here? Oh, Kaya, I've missed you so much!” He walks to her and hugs her tight. The creature smiks. “I love you, Kaya,” and with a jump, the siren pulls Usopp so that they both fall into the sea.
"No!" Thanks to your powers, you manage to grab Usopp's ankles to pull him hard and return him to the ship. You and Usopp fall back to the wooden floor. “Fuck,” you moan in pain.
To your right, Usopp lies on the floor, unconscious, but still breathing.
"Sorry, buddy," you whisper.
Again the chant is heard and it's Luffy's turn to react.
"Meat?" You roll your eyes. "Meat..." He purrs, drool running down his chin.
"Uh-uh, not you," you say hugging him around the waist.
"Hey, no—let me go," he says trying to pull away. "It's mine! My meat!" He wriggles like a worm.
Luffy is stronger than you and you can't use lightning against his rubber body. "Luffy!" You yell at him. "It's not real! Please stop! C'mon, Captain," you try your best but it's useless.
You feel more distress with Luffy because of his strength and the fact that he'll die if he gets to the water. But then, an idea pops into your head when you see the ship's mast not so far from you.
"Bingo!" You release Luffy's body but catch his right arm. You run towards the mast making his arm stretch out and do a few spins around it and then bind his hand so he can't undo the spins.
By this time, Luffy is already very close to the mermaid's claws, but his outstretched arm prevents him from following. The mermaid hisses in frustration as her second prey is yanked away (literally). Luffy's body slams into the mast, but he doesn't seem to care much.
"What?" He asks looking at his arm, he tries to free himself but it's complicated. "I want my meat!" He whines and cries as you sigh.
You take a look at your two troubled friends "Hum... maybe just works with men?" You say out loud when tie Usopp together with Luffy.
"That's a whole treasure!" Nami squeals.
"Fuck!"
----
"Alright you three!" You shout to the three people trying to get out of the rubber ropes. "There's no meat! You can't go to the ocean, you'll die!" You point at Luffy. "The treasure's not real!" Now to Nami. "And Kaya's not here!" Usopp cries.
You sigh putting your hands on your hips.
"Besides, you two can't go to the ocean either 'cause I can't save you if you do! And—wait," You stop the scolding and frown.
Nami, Luffy, Usopp, and Sanji's in town. There's one missing.
Someone tackles you and drags you awkwardly until your body collides with the wall. Your breath escapes from your lungs at the shock and when you open your eyes, you meet Zoro's directly. His body's against yours, leaving very little space between you.
You frown at him. "What?" You notice that his eyes have changed too. "Z-Zoro?" You stutter under his clouded gaze.
Zoro presses his forehead to yours in a deep sigh. "I've missed you so much," he groans.
Your heartbeat increases so much that you can hear it in your ears, and your body tenses in an attempt to pull back . "What?" You whisper with a frown.
He pulls back a little to look at you, his hard features softening as his eyes move swiftly across your face. You've never seen him like this before. The great pirate hunter Rorona Zoro is renowned for his seriousness and poker face.
"I'm so sorry," he almost whispers.
“You’re sorry? For what?”
“I don’t know what I did to you, but I wish you could forgive me, princess,” his hand cups your cheek so delicately. “You’ve been ignoring me and running away from me and I don’t know why,” he says like he’s suffering.
A huge lump forms in your throat at his words. Your mind clouds over and the real siren problem takes a back seat, shielded by the beautiful man begging for your forgiveness. "I-I... Zoro."
"I'm sorry," he repeats like a prayer.
You shake your head. "No, Zoro, it's not... you don't have to," You try to form a coherent sentence, but he's so... vulnerable and so... close. "You didn't do anything wrong."
He then does something you rarely see. He smiles sweetly, so soft. “You’re so pretty,” he says leaning further. You can feel his breath mixing with yours. “Pretty Princess,” he lets out a soft chuckle to then kiss you finally.
You sigh into the kiss as you feel your body melt against his. Your hands travel from his broad and strong chest to hold onto his shoulders, and his hands go to your hips to bring you even closer.
Princess, that stupid nickname he gave you the first time you met him, he always uses it as a mockery, but in this situation, it sounds so… good.
“Let me take care of you,” he says as he trails a path of kisses from your jawline to your sensitive neck. You couldn’t help but moan when he starts to kiss, lick, and bite there, leaving marks. “Let me protect you.”
“Z-Zoro,” You can feel his stupid and sexy grin against your skin.
“You have… no idea… how much… I’ve been waiting for this,” he returns to your lips. “For you”.
“Me too,” You breathe and take his face gently between your hands.
He sighs in relief, and he raises a hand to hold one of yours, but you push it away, groaning in pain. You frown and look at your hand, which has a deep cut on the back that you hadn't noticed before. Nor the blood that covers it almost completely. "What?"
"What happened?" asks Zoro with a concerned look.
And then you remember the mermaid's sharp scales. The pain brings you back to reality. You gasp as you see over Zoro's shoulder:
There are now three other mermaids on board, but they have legs! And they are dangerously close to Nami, Usopp, and Luffy. One of them tries to free them, while the others keep singing for them.
"Shit!" You move to the side and run while you send a bolt of lightning to the mermaid that's touching Luffy's arm.
She falls knocked out to the floor while the others jump startled. They look at their friend and then look at you with more anger than ever, making you stop. They hiss at you and take out their claws and scales.
Before the fight begins, you hear something behind you; it's Zoro taking out two of his katanas, ready to keep his promise to protect you, but that doesn’t last long, because the mermaids sing at the same time and louder to him. Zoro’s katanas fell and then his body.
"Alright, I'm alone," you return to the creatures, who now have what appears to be foam coming out of their mouths. "What the hell are you!?"
The three mermaids rush towards you in a leap as they hurl their scales. You dodge their attacks and hurl lightning bolts at them, but they too know your trick and dodge them.
"Shit, this is useless," you say out loud while you hide behind the ship's mast.
"Meat! My love, forgive me for this!" Luffy whines next to you. You groan not knowing what to do.
But then, you hear Zoro's voice again. "I'm sorry, Y/N," he says as he walks to a mermaid, dragging his feet and stretching his arms towards her.
"Fuck no," the first mermaid is guiding him towards the railing. "I should have tied you up too!"
One last time, you use your powers to run at lightning speed, grab Zoro by his arm, and pull him back to the boat. He falls to the ground, unconscious, leaving you alone with the siren.
The creature attacks you at the same time as you launch a powerful bolt of lightning. The impact causes her to be pushed away from the ship, along with her two other friends.
Your chest rises and falls with your heavy breathing, the use of your power always takes a lot of energy, but you stay on alert for another attack. However, something happens that you don't expect.
The sun returns in a slow, normal dawn. You frown at it, relaxing your body.
"What the hell? Luffy!" Nami yells.
"Why are we tied up in Luffy's arms? It's disgusting," says Usopp.
Luffy wriggles around trying to get free. "I can't—"
You turn to them, and you smile hearing their normal voices.
"Fuck, my head hurts," Zoro groans sitting on the floor.
"Let me help you," you say.
Nami raises her gaze to you, but her expression falls when she looks at your abdomen.
"Y/N! You're hurt!"
Those are enough words for Zoro to jump to his feet, ignoring your confusion and pain. You frown and look down, your blouse is covered in a large bloodstain. You try to grab the cloth, but your hands feel clumsy, slow, and weak. Your vision blurs.
"Uh, okay," you say before passing out.
-------
"I can't believe all of you," says Sanji as he puts a new plate of food on the table. "I leave you alone for a few hours and you almost let the only worthwhile person on this ship die, besides Nami of course."
You laugh at his words as you eat.
"Hey, it wasn't our fault!" says Usopp, sitting down next to you. He pouts and slowly moves part of the bandage around his head.
"Yes! The fish-witch did it!" adds Luffy, sitting down on the other side of you and taking a bite of your food.
“Speaking of witchcraft,” says Nami arriving at the kitchen “The lady’s here.”
“Fantastic,” Sanji applauds.
“What lady?” you ask.
“I met her in the town, she makes an excellent casserole, but she’s a healer too, very famous. I asked her if she could check on you and the others.”
You scoff. “Sanji, I’m fine, it’s just a scratch.”
Sanji leans back and rests his hands on the table with a sympathetic smile. "Sweets, you've been gone for three days, and besides, the moss-head has been acting weird ever since. Maybe there's something else about the mermaids we should know.”
“You’re right, Blondie,” says an old lady entering the kitchen. The rest of the crew also reunite and sit by the table, looking expectantly. “Well, I’m always busy and you kids have to run before the Marines find your new spot,” she points at them. Then she looks at you. “You’re very lucky, girl. But you’ll be alright. Here,” She puts a bottle on the table. “Put this ointment on and continue taking care of your wound.”
“Thanks,” you say taking the bottle.
She nods and continues. “Alright, those creatures are very dangerous and very different from the real mermaids. The fish people and these creatures are forever enemies. The main difference is that the tailed women are more violent, and they can’t see the good or bad things. They just want to attract humans and eat them alive.”
Usopp shrieks and trembles in his place. “We could’ve died!” He yells.
“Yeah, well,” the lady shrugs. “Thanks to your friend you didn’t,” she points at you.
“But,” says Nami. “I don’t even remember what happened, at first, I thought it was a dream. How does it work?”
“Their power involves a specific kind of music and their voices at a certain frequency that makes an illusion in someone’s head. The few survivors say that they see something or someone they want at that moment. On many occasions, they are banal objects, but it is something that causes pure desire, and they need it. In others, they are people who love, miss, or have not been able to confess their true feelings, even their deepest secrets are revealed under that effect. Now you know why the Marines want to be on this island so much. They use them as a form of manipulation.”
The entire crew thinks in silence for a few seconds, only for Luffy's thunderous laughter breaks the moment.
“So it wasn’t a dream!” He exclaims. “The fish-witch made me see meat!” He laughs and bangs the table many times. “It makes sense, ‘cause I love meat!”
Even Nami giggles a little. “I saw a big ass treasure,” she crosses her arms and grins proudly.
On the contrary, Usopp's face turns completely red, and he seems to hold his breath.
“What’s wrong, Usopp? What did you see?” Luffy asks him and you giggle. The others look at you with a frown, while Usopp looks at you with terrified eyes.
“I know who he saw,” You raise your brows, and you leave your empty plate.
“You saw a person?” Nami asks.
“No! I saw nobody—I mean…” Usopp tries to relax his body. “I saw a beautiful princess that I knew but couldn’t marry because of my pirate nature.”
“Oh, really?” You smirk. “And her name’s like your friend from your island? ‘Cause it was the only name you repeated last night. Kaya! I’ve missed you so much!” you say trying to imitate his voice.
Everybody bursts into laughter, and he blushes harder. They make fun of him for a while, and maybe they’ll never gonna let this go.
At some point, Nami turns to Zoro, who’s quieter than usual.
“Zoro, what did you see?” she asks him. Of course, Zoro’s cheeks and ears turn into a pinky shade. “Oh, my god! Who was it?” She squeals.
He tenses his body, making the muscles of his arms pop and he clenches his jaw looking away. “None of your business,” he groans.
“So, you did see someone!” Usopp points at him. “C’mon, man. Tell us!”
From the other end of the table, you watch Zoro's reaction, and you can't help but blush and smile as you remember his words, the heat of his body, and the softness of his lips. Now that you have the new information about the fish witches, your heart jumps as you connect the dots between yours and Zoro’s feelings.
“Not gonna happen,” he shakes his head looking at Usopp who insists with Nami, Luffy, and even Sanji. But then, just a second, he looks at you and makes you shiver. You need to talk to him.
“But I don’t understand,” The crew shut up and paid attention to you. “Why didn't the voices affect me like the others?”
The lady sighs. “It’s very rare to be immune to their power, but I don’t have the real answer, girl. The people in town say that those people’s hearts already know what they want for their lives, but it’s still uncertain,” she shrugs.
You just nod making a face.
“Anyway,” the lady stands up. “That’s all the information I got!” She looks at Sanji “Pay me, Blondie.”
Sanji grunts but he still gives the lady a piece of paper. She smiles victoriously. She doesn’t even say goodbye when she leaves the ship, but Nami, Luffy, and Usopp leave the kitchen to prepare everything and set sail as soon as possible.
The kitchen remains silent, and you feel the rush of fatigue run through your body and, above all, your wound, so you try to get up carefully. Sanji notices this and immediately comes over to help you.
“Wait right there, Darling. Let me help you,” but before he can touch you, Zoro walks over to you.
“I’ll help her,” he says. Sanji wants to complain, but Zoro interrupts him again. “You cook the dinner before Luffy gets cranky.”
Sanji scoffs but he nods and walks away. You raise your head as he shyly approaches.
“Uh- Can I… lift you?”
you nod. He carries you in bridal style so carefully, like you were about to break in any second.  Zoro walks with you without rush and you can’t take your eyes off him. “You’re staring,” he says.
“I am,” you won’t deny anymore. “We need to talk.”
His cheeks blush again, and he nods. “Do you mind if we go to the crow’s nest?”
“Not at all,” you smile thinking that he wants to be in his safe and private place.
When you arrive, he puts you carefully on the floor and sits next to you.
“So…” he begins without looking at you. “It wasn’t a dream.”
You keep looking at him. “Noup.” He nods. You bite your lower lip and sigh. “That’s the reason why I’ve avoided you,” you say and he turns his head to you. “I’m sorry” you blush. “I know it’s dumb, but, I was really scared of things changing between us and I didn’t want to lose you and, the only solution I could think was… if I avoided you, I wouldn't feel anything and…forget everything and get back to normal.”
He stares at you. “Yeah, it was a dumb idea.” He said trying to hide a smirk.
“Hey!” You punch his strong arm and you both laugh.
Zoro licks his lips as he turns to you. “I wish it had been different. I mean, not me drunk ‘cause of a fish’s song telling you what I feel,” he scoffs.
“And… what do you feel right now, Zoro?”
He smirks. His eyes travel from your eyes to your lips. “I meant what I said in the dream, but...” he moves his body to face you and raises one hand to cup your cheek. “I…love you,” he whispers before kissing you.
This time, the kiss is more gentle, soft, and slow. Both of you enjoy the feeling of each other. You grab a fist of his shirt to pull him closer and you move slightly without thinking, but that mistake makes you gasp in pain.
He moves away suddenly. “Are you okay? Did the wound open? Let me look for Nami—” he says quickly making you giggle.
“I’m fine,” you assure him. “Just forgot about it for a second. And you look hot worrying about me,” You kiss him again.
“You scared the shit out of me for three days, you know?” He says breaking the kiss. “Promise me you won’t do that again.”
“Why? ‘Cause you’ll protect me like the princess that I am?” You tease him and he laughs.
“You won’t let that go, uh?”
You look at his beautiful eyes and you can’t believe that this man’s finally yours. “God, I love you,” you caress his cheek. “And that’s a no.” You chuckle.
He rolls his eyes and grabs your face to kiss until the end of your lives.

How OP men would react in a situation where you get anxious (Straw hats men! x fem! reader)
A/N: Just working... bye -Val
Characters: Sanji, Luffy and Zoro
Words: 1,612
Warnings: Mentions of anxiety and panic attacks
Sanji:

Storm
You wake up as another lighting strikes the peaceful silence in the Going Merry. Your body’s covered in sweat, your heartbeat pounding on your chest and the tears dripping down your cheeks. “Shit, shit, stop!” You say at loud as you cover your ears. “Please,” you sob.
You always wanted to be like those people who enjoy the sound of the rain and are fascinated by lighting, but no...
“Fuck! Stop!” You leave your bed, feeling frustrated and exit your room.
The storm makes the ship lurch dangerously sideways, making you tremble in the corridors. The place you reach without thinking is the kitchen, and you fall inside immediately and crawl behind the counter.
“Y/N?” You hear a voice, but your trembling body won't let you react to it “Sweetheart, are you okay?” Sanji kneels in front of you.
Another lighting strike makes you squeal before you can say anything.
Sanji frowns. “The storm?” He asks.
You feel his strong arms move you to his lap and hug you against his chest.
“It’s gonna be okay, sweets,” he coos as he caresses your back. You clutch your hand on his shirt like your life depends on it, his body heat and tender touches try to calm you. “I got you, baby. Nothing’s gonna happen to you, I promise.”
He keeps saying sweet reassuring things to you as if the storm isn’t out there.
“You’re so brave, Y/N,” The storm is fading little by little. “So strong and smart. Don’t worry about anything, you can trust me. Oh! You know what this reminds me?” He doesn’t wait for an answer, “When we made that complicated cake,” he chuckles. “I was scared and anxious, but you reassured and trusted me. You helped me in the kitchen, and we made a total disaster all over the place.”
You remember too. You raise your head to watch him.
“We burned the mix three times!” He exclaims laughing. “And the flour was more in your face than in the cake,” You giggle at that, so he lowers his head and smiles softly at you. “We did it at the end, didn’t we?” You nod. “But you never gave up on me,” he leans and kisses your forehead. “Are you feeling better, love?”
You nod again. “Thank you, Sanji.”
“There’s nothing to thank, darling. It's a pleasure to have you in my arms. You know what I’m thinking?”
“What?
He moves his arms to hold you tighter. “I’m starting to think my arms are made for holding you.”
You smile. “I think so too,” You lean to kiss his cheek.
Luffy
Tumblr media
Being in the spotlight
“So, is it true that you’re the only one without a devil’s fruit?” A girl interrupts your walk.
“Uh?”
“Who’s the stronger Straw-hat?” Asks another boy.
“How did you defeat that super strong man?” The people surround you and ask you many questions.
 “Are you dating someone?”
“Is it true that you’re the future pirate queen?”
Your body starts to shake, it’s hard to breathe and your hands are covered in sweat. “Please, just back off. I don’t know—”
“Are you having a family with Monkey D. Luffy?”
“Who’s more handsome?”
Meanwhile, Luffy’s enjoying food at the corner when he hears his name. He turns to look for the person, but he stops startled as he sees all the people reunited on the other side of the room.
“Nami,” she’s by his side. “What’s going on there?” He points.
“I don’t know.”
“Guys!” Usopp arrives taking off his binoculars “They’re surrounding Y/N!”
“What?”
Luffy stretches his neck, and he finds you in distress. “Usopp,” he pokes his arm. “I have an idea.”
**
The lights turn off and then, just one reflects to the other side of the room. “Ladies, and gentlemen,” Usopp appears. “May I have your full attention, please? I want to show you something. I’m sure you’ve never seen before!” He moves dramatically. “And for that, I need everybody to walk closer to me!” The crowd move slowly, curious about the new show.
Out of nowhere, you feel a grip on your waist and are pulled until you crash into a body. You open your mouth to protest but Luffy makes a sign to be quiet. He lifts you, so your legs hug his low waist, and you hold him by the neck. Luffy jumps and runs out the window and through the big house’s roof to finally land in a flat part.
When he makes sure you can stand, he lets you go.
“Holy shit!” You’re heavy breathing and put a hand on your chest as you sit down.
“Are you okay?” Luffy asks.
“No, Luffy. I’m not okay. A million people cornered me, asking me stupid questions and they demanded answers, then being treated like a fucking ragdoll and fly to the damn roof!” You yell at him exhaling all the frustration.
He moves awkwardly, not knowing what to do. “So, how do you feel now?” He smiles.
You frown standing up. “Why do you ask me that? How blind are you? I'm annoyed, overwhelmed, and exhausted. They don’t know about us; they don’t know me. I mean, how dare they ask me all that bullshit and treated me like I’m the weak one of the group? Shit! Someone asked if I’m having children with you! We saved them two minutes ago and they want our gossip? Why?”
“You should scream!” He raises his arms.
“What?”
“Scream! Like this!” He screams like an animal as he jumps many times. “C’mon! Your turn!”
You’re so confused by now, but your body’s shaking still so you obey him. Both of you scream so loud that your throats hurt. Somehow, that helps and makes you feel lighter. After a while, you look at Luffy and he smiles wide. You hug him tight.
“Thank you, Lu.”
He giggles. “You’re welcome!” He hugs you back. “Now, I’ll go for more food for us,” he says ending the hug.
Zoro:
Tumblr media
Crowd
The city’s downtown is crowded, and it’s the stupid festival's fault, Zoro thinks.
You two must find Luffy before the Marines do, but the people and all the distractions make it difficult. At some point, Zoro feels your small hand grabbing his wrist and he turns to see you out of breath and trying not to get lost, the people are moving and crashing into your body like you aren’t there.
“Shit,” he murmurs. Zoro quickly takes your hand and leans at your height. “Y/N, hey. Breathe, breathe for me, c´mon,” You look at his eyes with fear.
“I can’t—I have to... Zoro, help,” you try to say.
He nods ignoring his lack of orientation and he takes all his focus on getting you safely out of there. He pulls you closer to his body, then he remembers Nami’s words ‘If you need to return to the ship, follow where the big fish statue is, and you’ll see the Merry—Zoro, wake the hell up!’ He shakes his head.
“The big fish!” He yells and points at the other side of the fountain in the middle. “Let’s go, I got you,” he tells you as he puts an arm around you and starts to push people away. He can feel your tense body and he checks your status every few minutes. “Don’t worry, we’re almost there.”
The second he says that a loud bang is heard, causing panic among the people. They run and scream everywhere.
“Zoro!” You yell.
“Fuck!” He thinks fast as he kneels near you. “Hop up!” He points at his back.
You jump, hold his neck and place your legs around his waist, hiding your face on his shoulder. Zoro makes sure you’re okay and run as fast as he can. Although some people push him, he continues his way without stopping.
You close your eyes as the tears fall without control. You can’t think of anything else but to hold Zoro.
“Y/N, hey,” Zoro whispers. You open your eyes slowly and realize that you are back on the ship.
You sit down, back against the wood handrail and Zoro kneels in front of you. “There you go,” he smirks looking at your eyes and grabbing your face. “How do you feel?”
You analyze yourself, checking if your body is complete; your heart isn’t rising anymore. You’re… fine. “I’m okay,” you smile. “Thanks to you”.
He nods caressing your cheek. “Are you sure? Do you need anything?”
“Just… just you, please,” He moves to your side, and he lifts you to his lap as he holds you to his chest. “I was so scared,” you mumble. You feel his kiss on your forehead.
“It’s okay, it’s over now.”
“Have I ruined everything?”
“Usopp found Luffy, and the others are coming, you don’t have to worry.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Don’t say crap like that, everybody’s scared of something.”
“You aren’t,” You lean back to look at him.
“I was scared too,” he looks away. “Don’t tell anyone.”
“About what?”
“Let’s just— uh,” he groans, “just let me hold you before someone sees us.” He pulls you back again.
“But what scared you?”
“Forget it.”
“But I want to help you, what if it happens again?”
“It won’t, I’ll make sure of it.”
“But—”
“Lose you, okay!? Scared the shit out of me, damn it!”
“Oh.”
After a minute of silence, you hug him again.
“You’re my hero, baby,” You smile hearing his scoff.
“Shut up,” you giggle and you’re sure he’s smiling too.
“My knight in shiny armor.”
He puts a hand over your mouth.

one bed trope with usopp?
Yeeeeessss....
Danny and I really enjoy this one-Val
One Bed (Usopp x fem!reader)

Tumblr media
“A Captain, you say?” The receptionist leans forward as Usopp keeps talking bullshit.
As if this day couldn't get any worse, you have to wait for him to flirt with that lady who was so fucking rude to you when you first asked for a room. Meanwhile, your body shakes in cold as your wet clothes stick to your skin.
“So, as you heard,” says Usopp leaning on the desk between, making the muscles of his arms pop. “My last adventure left me completely exhausted and that woman,” he points at you. The lady looks at you with a raised eyebrow. “Yeah, I just saved her from those evil men. So, she’s tired and she can get cranky, like we all do, right? Nothing personal, sweetheart.”
She smiles, turning to him. “Well… I always had a soft spot for heroes like you, Captain Usopp,” she says caressing his arm. “So, I guess I can help you out,” She grabs a pair of keys from behind the desk and lifts them in front of him.
“You’re really kind, sweetheart,” he smiles at her, taking the keys.
“But,” he stops him before he can go. “If you want to add more action to your adventure… we can share a room. Mine is ready for you.”
Now, the great Casanova Usopp is blushing and stuttering. You roll your eyes and approach them fast, snatching the keys.
“Thanks!” You yell at the receptionist as you walk away.
“Hey! Wait for me!” Usopp says behind you.
“You have to be joking,” you whine staring at the shitty room of the shitty hotel.
Just a basic, old, dirty, and stinky room with a bathroom, table, two chairs, a crappy kitchen and… just one bed. Before Usopp can say anything, you walk to the bathroom to shower.
***
You close your eyes as the water falls over your body, relaxing your muscles and cleaning the dirt and blood from it.
This is the moment when all the situations of earlier come to your mind. How your crew had to separate from each other, your enemies not having mercy on you, the rain never stopping and that bitch lady. Your thoughts are interrupted by a knock and the door being opened.
“Hey, uh—sorry” you hear his movements. “I’m leaving some clothes for you and I—uh… I couldn’t find women's clothes, but I thought—uh…” he rambles nervously.
“Thanks,” you answer. He leaves without saying anything else.
You dress in a big men’s shirt, pants, and socks. As Usopp takes a shower, you sit in the middle of the bed and stay still until he finishes.
“Uh… Are you okay?”
You scoff. “Do I look okay?” You snap at him.
“Yeah, Okay. I get it. I know you aren’t but don’t think being mean to me will make you feel any better, Y/N,” he pouts. “If you didn’t notice, I’m in the same situation as you so…”
He’s right, you think. Now you feel even worse, and this is just the final drop for your sanity.
“I’m sorry,” you say as your voice breaks. “You’re right. I’m such a bitch like the lady from downstairs,” you sob.
“Shit, no, no, no, it’s okay,” he quickly sits in front of you and takes your hands. “I didn’t say bitch.”
“But you thought about it!” You squeal. “I don’t blame you,” you clean your nose. “I’m so selfish and take it on you. I’m sorry, Usopp. It’s not your fault and bitching about it just makes things worse!”
“No, please don’t cry,” he moves closer to carry you to his lap and hug you tight. “I didn’t mean it. I’m sorry.”
“Don’t apologize, it’s all my fault,” You hide your face on his chest.
“No, it’s not yours either. It was just a shitty day, shhh,” he coos. “But it’s over now, okay? And we’re fine, we’re alive! And I’m 100% sure that the others are too.”
“You think so?”
He thinks for a bit. “Maybe an 80%—If Zoro’s alone, he probably got lost.” That makes you giggle, making him sigh in relief.
You both stay like that for a while. “Thank you, Usopp.”
“No problem, sweetheart,” he whispers.
You frown and make a face as you lean back to him.
“Ew, don’t call me that,” you chuckle.
“What? Why?” He smiles confused.
“You called the lady like that,” you cringe. “By the way, when did you learn to flirt?”
You always saw Usopp as the one who gets all nervous when he tries to date someone.
He laughs. “Well, I asked Sanji for a little help. Honestly, I didn’t think it’d work, but...” he raises a brow. “I’m good at it.”
You roll your eyes as you stand up from his lap. “If you’re so sure, then go with her,” you say as you walk to the tiny mirror on the wall and try to brush your hair with your fingers.
“What?”
You shrug. “She offered her—I mean, her room.”
“But I don’t want to be with her,” he stands up. “The reason I flirted was to get us a room,” he explains.
For some reason, that makes you smile proudly. “Okay.”
“I...” he sighs and grabs your arm to make you turn to him. “I’m not like that. I wouldn’t do that, I mean. We’re on a mission and, I wouldn’t let you alone, at least not in this awful room.”
You make a face. “She was quite beautiful, though. I wouldn’t blame you if you, you know,” You shrug. “I mean, she was a total bitch, but I can’t deny she was beautiful.”
“She’s not my type,” he chuckles. That makes you turn back to him raising a brow.
“You have a type?”
“Uh… well, I guess. I dunno, maybe I just think—ugh! Forget it. I’m gonna shut my mouth for good,” he whines embarrassed. You giggle. “You’re enjoying this, don’t you?” He smiles shyly.
“A little.”
“Why? It’s not like you don’t have a type, I bet you like guys like Sanji or Zoro,” he says like it’s a dumb thing.
You shake your head. “Actually, no.”
“What?” you shrug. “Well, how did your last boyfriend look like?”
“Why are you so curious about that?”
“I—I’m not. I just, c’mon it’s a simple question. A girl as beautiful as you must have lots of guys waiting for you.”
You blush and smile. “You think I’m beautiful?”
“Of course, you’re beautiful! Are you kidding? You’re the most amazing, lovely, beautiful, smart woman I’ve ever met!” He looks like he said that without thinking. “I—uh...”
You look at him and nod. “I believe you,” your eyes go down to his lips, but you immediately pull away, afraid of your thoughts about your friend. “So,” you change the subject. “How are we gonna do this one-bed thing?”
“Oh, I can sleep on the floor. There’s no problem,” he stretches his arms. “It’s not the first time, you know.”
You giggle but then you make a face. “But this floor is dirty and who knows what kind of insects you’ll find?”
“I’m not scared of bugs.”
“Last time you saw a ladybug on your arm and practically cried about it.”
He blushes embarrassed. “I did not! Captain Usopp is not afraid of anything!”
You giggle. “Just come already,” You make a sign for him to get into the bed as you pull the sheets down and lay down.
“A-are you sure?” He stands up.
“Sure… it’s not like we’re gonna do something else than sleep, right?” You think about it and blush.
“Yeah, you’re right,” he jumps in and laughs nervously. He lays down at your side.
You both stay face-to-face with anxious smiles.
“Good night, Usopp,” you whisper looking at his eyes.
“Tomorrow will be better,” he nods. “Good night, doll.”
***
The truth is that you can’t sleep, no matter how many times you turn around the bed. His presence makes you uneasy and for some reason you—
“Can’t sleep either?” he whispers. You turn back to face him, but this time you’re closer to him. You can feel his breath and your nose brushes his.
“Usopp, I...”
“I’m sorry,” he says before grabbing you by the neck and pulling you to his lips. You whine in surprise but kiss him back immediately.
“Don’t be,” you mumble pulling back. You smile and he does it too. Now you lean forward willingly and kiss him.
The kiss gets more intense as he grabs your waist, keeping you as close as possible. Then he moves to be on top of you.
“Is this...” he breathes. “Is this okay?”
“Yeah, please. I want you, Usopp,” you practically moan.
“Shit,” he says before kissing you. He can’t believe what’s happening. But he doesn’t want to overthink it. At least not now. He starts to kiss your jawline to your neck.
“Usopp...” you moan.
“My name sounds so perfect when you say it,” he chuckles.
You smile as you grab his shirt and try to pull it off. He sits back to help you and then you two undress each other. You forget about the fact that your early clothes, with your underwear, are still wet somewhere in the room. You flush hard, begging for the night to cover everything.
“You’re so beautiful,” he kisses you again. “I can’t believe...” Kiss. “We’re...” Kiss. “Doing this.” Kiss.
“Why?” You giggle.
“I never thought I had a chance with you,” he confesses.
“Why?” You frown. “If you’re the most amazing...” You kiss him. “Strong...” Kiss. “Brave...” Another kiss. “And kind guy I’ve ever met.” Both of you laugh. “Stop thinking, Usopp. I want you, I need you.” He groans in response.
You take his hand and guide him down on you. His fingers move slowly, testing you.
“Fuck,” you moan when he touches your clit. He takes that as a good sign, but he wants more, so he boldly moves and start kissing your inner thighs. “Usopp?”
“Don’t worry, just guide me,” he smiles eager to make you feel good. He takes your hand and puts it over his head as he dips down and kisses your core. You moan louder this time.
He kisses, licks, and tastes like you’re his favorite dessert, he obeys you in every movement of your hand and when you tell him what you want. He makes you see stars and makes you scream in pleasure.
“Usopp, please. Come up here!” You whine.
“But you—”
“It’s okay, I need more, please,” He obeys and returns to your upper body to sloppy kiss you. “Usopp...”
“I got you, baby,” he moans as he guides himself to you.
Both of you moan at the slow start thrust. He takes a moment for you to adjust, but then, his thrust becomes harder and faster.
“You feel so good, so pretty, so perfect,” he praises like a mantra.
Your hands travel all over his body, you want to feel everything of him. “You’re so deep, so good,” you mumble then continue to moan his name over and over.
“I’m not… gonna last...” he grunts.
You shake your head. “Neither will I, please, keep going.”
With a couple of more thrusts you finish, Usopp stares at you in awe as he finishes too. He falls on you, hugging your waist and you caress his hair and play with his thick locks.
“Is this a good time to say that I’m so in love with you?” He asks making you giggle.
“Just if I can confess that I’m falling for you too.”
He chuckles and kisses your skin.

Warmth —(Gilbert Blythe xF!Reader)
A tough winter had fallen upon Avonlea that year, the snow would pile against the windows stopping any kind of light to enter anyone’s home, and even if they’d managed to shovel it out of the way, there was no sunlight to reward them for their tough efforts.
However, this weather benefited a few who, in love and with time to spare, needed little excuses to waste their mornings in bed.
Gilbert and you had woken up to a gloomy morning, but instead of letting it ruin your mood, you took it as an excuse to wrap your arms around your lover and nuzzle your face against his chest.
“It’s so cold,” you muttered against him, “let’s stay in bed all day...”
“I have patients, dear...”
“Oh, like anyone would leave their homes just so you could take a look at their runny noses,” you grumbled.
“What if they have an emergency?”
“We just installed the phone,” you retorted stubbornly, “if they need you desperately, they’ll know where to find you.”
“Y/N...”
“Have some pity, Gilbert boy,” you poked his ribs, “your poor wife is begging you to stay and keep her warm. What if you leave her all alone and she ends up with the worst cold of her life?”
Gilbert chuckled. “Well, we can’t have that, can we?”
“Indeed,” you continued. “Did you know there’s an old proverb that goes ‘shoemakers' children go barefoot and doctors' wives die young’?”
“Really?” He frowned. “That’s certainly not what I want for us.”
“And that’s precisely why you’ll stay right here, cuddling your wife until she’s all warm and sleepy again.”
Gilbert tilted your chin up so you would look at him. “I guess I can take one day off.”
You moved closer and kissed him lightly, his hand moved from your chin to the side of your neck and deepened the kiss. A little sigh escaped your lips and your fingers went to his curls, holding onto them, gently at first, and then a bit more desperate.
“I’ve missed you,” you mumbled against him.
“I’m right here,” he replied, frowning a little.
“Today, yes, but you’ve been visiting your patients every day from dusk to dawn,” you moved away and cupped his cheek, “and I’m so proud but... the house feels so lonely when I come back from my errands and you’re not here.”
Gilbert’s eyes softened. “I didn’t know you felt that way, I always thought you were quite... self-sufficient.”
“Oh, I am,” you frowned, “that doesn’t mean I don’t love and long for my husband’s attentions.”
“You long?” He adopted a teasing tone. “Poor thing...” he kissed your forehead, “so abandoned...” then your nose, “with so much love to give...”
His lips traveled to your neck and left a trail of kisses down your throat, his teeth bore into the curve of your shoulder, causing you to gasp.
“I’ve missed you too...” he whispered against your skin, “my sweet wife...”
“Please...” you whined, keeping his head in place.
“Yes, dear?” He kissed your shoulder. “What do you need?”
“You... just you.”
“But how do you want me?”
“However you decide, just don’t stop,” you concluded, pulling him back to your lips.
Gilbert quickly got to work, he pushed your camisole up and snuck a hand between your bodies, cupping your center.
“You’re warm,” he lowered his face and breathed in your scent. “Are my hands too cold?”
“N-no,” you shifted in your place to give him better access, “you’re perfect.”
“You’re perfect,” he retorted, “so soft...” his hand slowly traveled up and cupped one of your breasts, “so easy to arouse...”
“Gilbert,” you sighed.
“I know,” he cooed, “I’m getting there.”
His lips left your neck and moved down, kissing and sucking the soft skin on your other breast. His digits pinched and massaged your nipple, he switched his attentions from one breast to the other, lightly grinding his hips against yours.
Your hands grasped the edge of his sleeping pants and pushed them down slightly, the light patch of hair at the base of his stomach making you moan at the sight.
Gilbert silently took off his clothes, taking his time so you had a moment to appreciate him properly, then he placed himself between your legs and helped you sit, pulling the camisole completely off your body.
“Look at me,” he asked lowly, you obliged right away, “give me your hand.”
You did. Gilbert took it with one of his and gently guided you to his member. He gave glanced at you to make sure you were okay with this, and you pecked his lips as a response. His free hand went to the back of your head and kept you close to his mouth. Your noses brushed, the room started to feel warm all of a sudden.
Your fingers wrapped around him the way you knew he liked, Gilbert let out a soft groan the moment you started moving. His hand abandoned your wrist and looked for your center, you spread your legs a bit more and he pushed his hand forward, finding your sensitive nub and rubbing against it.
“There we go,” you felt him smiling, “ride my fingers, Y/N.”
He slipped one finger inside you, then two, and after barely a few minutes you had three of his fingers thrusting in and out of you. Your hand squeezed him lightly, thumb circling his tip while your other hand clung to his thigh.
Your moans were mixing together, your mouths so close you could even imagine each breath he took going through yours.
“I love what you’re doing... but I need you around me,” he spoke, almost begging.
“Do it,” you replied, pulling him so he laid on top of you.
Gilbert took his fingers out and licked them clean without breaking eye contact. He spread your legs open entirely and lined himself with your entrance.
“You’re soaked,” he said in awe, running his tip up and down your folds.
“All for you, Gilbert boy,” you replied charmingly.
He held your hand and kissed your knuckles, then he gently dropped it beside you and held onto your thighs, driving into you firmly. Gilbert moved so now your chests were brushing against each other, your legs wrapped around him, desperate to push him deeper inside you.
“Do that again,” he moaned.
You moved your legs again, but this time your hand went up to his curls and pulled lightly, Gilbert’s face was pure bliss.
“Such a good husband,” you panted, “so good to me...”
“Do you like it when I’m inside you?” He whispered. “Does it feel good?”
“So good, my dear,” you kissed his jaw, “don’t stop...”
Gilbert placed a hand next to your head for leverage and started to move faster, you were moaning non-stop, almost screaming his name. He was getting closer, but he wanted you to finish with him, so he snuck a hand between you and rubbed tight circles around your clit.
“Oh—! Yes! Don’t stop, Gilbert, please...”
“Wouldn’t dream of it, sweetheart,” he said breathing harshly.
It took him a moment, but eventually, you started to clench around him and he knew it was time. He looked for your lips blindly and drowned your moans as you came, and in exchange, you muffled his low growls and whimpers as he finished inside you.
His thrusts slowed down until he was practically still above you. Your hands ran through his hair lovingly.
“You’re okay?” You asked him quietly.
Gilbert lifted his face, a healthy blush on his cheeks and a youthful shine on his eyes. “I’m more than okay.”
You smiled at him. “Good. Are you happy you stayed?”
“Happy?” He asked in disbelief. Gilbert shifted and started to leave kisses all over your face with each word he said. “You are the most wonderful woman on earth— I love you so much.”
You giggled, stopping his attack by cupping his face and pulling him toward your lips. “I love you too.”
“Are you hungry?”
“No. But I am a bit sleepy.”
The young man carefully moved out of you to lay beside you, wrapping his arms around your figure and pulling you closer. “Let’s go back to sleep then. It’s still early.”
“Okay... and Gilbert?”
“Hmm?”
“I meant what I said before. I’m very proud of what you do to help others, so don’t ever feel guilty for doing so. What I said was just so I convinced you to stay today.”
“I know,” he chuckled, “thank you, Y/N.”
“I love you.”
“I love you more.”

“Your body shivers every time I hug you, are you okay?”
“Yes, of course, I love it when you–I mean, I like your hugs–as in, you know–yeah. Oh! Nami’s calling me.”
“But Nami’s right there by her trees.”
That was the moment Luffy started to suspect of Y/N. No matter what the others may think of him, Luffy believes he’s smart and capable of dealing with odd situations. And now, he’s determined to resolve whatever his most recent crew member has going on.
And that’s why… he broke into your bedroom when you didn’t answer. The door wasn’t locked, and you weren’t there. He shrugs and sits on your bed to wait.
“What the hell? Luffy!”
“I waited for you for hours!” He whines. (He waited five minutes).
“Why? What? You broke my door!”
“It was an accident.” He waves it off.
“How it could be an accident?”
“That’s not the point, here.”
“But–”
“Shhhh!” Luffy puts a finger against Y/N’s mouth. “I’m your captain, so you have to obey my orders.” He frowns, then Y/N sighs and waits for his captain. “You have to tell the truth to your captain.”
“What?”
“Don’t lie.”
“About what?”
Luffy purses his lips and his eyes water. “Just admit that you hate me!” He cries.
“What?” He looks at Luffy searching for any sign of a joke. “Luffy, I–I don’t hate you.”
“No?” He sniffs.
“How did you–?” Y/N walks closer to him. “Why do you think that?”
“You don’t like my hugs. And you run away from me,” he pouts.
Y/N feels his cheeks getting warm. “I didn’t want to hurt you, Lu.”
“You did! But I don’t get why.”
He sighs as he sits beside Luffy on the bed. “I don’t hate you,” he doesn’t dare to look at his captain. “I do like your hugs, it’s just–”
“Why are you blushing?” Luffy grabs his chin to turn his face.
Y/N takes Luffy’s hand but when he looks at his eyes, he stops. While Luffy frowns, his brain turns off and travels to another world. That’s why he doesn’t think as he leans forward and kisses Luffy.
Although it’s a short kiss, Y/N feels an explosion inside of him… until he notices Luffy’s expression. “Holy shit. Luffy, I’m so sorry, I didn’t–I–”
“Ooohh, now I get it,” Luffy smiles. “You like me!” He giggles.
“I–yeah. I always get nervous when you hug me or touch me, because… I like you,” he confesses.
“Ha! I win!” Luffy exclaims. “I solved this case!”
“What? Luffy, now it's your turn!”
“For what?”
“Do… do you feel...? Do you like me too?”
“Oh! Right,” he giggles. “Well, I like your hugs too! And you smell nice, and I have lots of fun when you’re with me. And I want to be with you all the time.”
Translation: Luffy reciprocates the feelings.
Y/N laughs in relief. “Can I kiss you?”
“Yeah!”
The kiss is longer now, and Y/N takes Luffy by the back of his neck to get him closer to him.
“I like your kisses too...” mumbles Luffy.
“I want to show you more things that you could like too, can I?” He says as he pushes Luffy to the bed.
“Oh, you mean sex?”
Y/N looks surprised. “Uh, is it okay?”
“Yeah, I know sex,” Luffy says as he makes him shift so now, he can be on top. “I want to show you too.”
Luffy doesn't wait for an answer as he kisses Y/N with more passion, his tongue travels into Y/N’s mouth making things messier. Luffy’s body leans completely against his as he feels his shaft, he starts to grind making him moan.
“Luffy...”
“Yeah?” He says with a raspier voice, his eyes change, and his breathing increases as he leans again to kiss his neck.
“Fuck...” he says as Luffy bites and licks a sensitive part, making him giggle.
“You like it when I bite you? ‘Cause you taste really good–no, wait, I have an idea!”
Luffy wiggles as he takes off his clothes so quickly that Y/N can’t even admire him like he always wanted. Luffy’s back on the bed, but he leans straight to go down on Y/N. He undoes his pants and pulls down his underwear to lick and then suck his cock.
“Luffy!” He’s taken by his eagerness. “Fuck!” He moans.
“Yep, I was right! You taste soooo good.” Luffy’s head goes up and down tasting every part of him and he feels like dying and flying to heaven. Y/N still can’t believe what’s going on, but it's too late to take it back.
“Luffy, wait...” he grabs his hair and pulls, Luffy whines but obeys. “I-I can’t take it anymore. I need you.”
Luffy smiles playfully. “Well, as the captain, I should be the one to give orders…” He giggles. “Now, turn over your tummy!”
He laughs. “Oi, Captain.”
“I like your laugh, you know,” Luffy says as he caresses Y/N’s butt cheeks. “And it’s better when I’m the one who’s making you laugh,” he starts to prep him. “Only me can make you feel like this, right?”
Y/N didn’t know that Luffy was a talker during sex, although this sounds as innocent as he is most of the time.
“Only my Captain could make me feel like this,” he looks at him over his shoulder. Luffy smiles and leans forward to kiss him. “Please, Captain...” he whines.
Luffy starts to enter him as they keep kissing. Both moan when he’s completely inside and he thrusts slowly, but his hands travel all over Y/N's body, and of course, he bites and leaves marks along his back. Then, his thrusts become faster and harder as their moans and whines become louder.
“Shit, I...” pants Luffy.
“Me too” Y/N whimpers.
Luffy groans falls on his back to rest as both try to control their breathing.
“I’m glad you don’t hate me, ‘cause I think I like you too, Y/N,” Luffy whispers as he moves to be beside him.
He chuckles and caress his cheek. “I’m glad too.”
“Oi! Y/N, what happened to your door–AH CRAP, MY EYES!”
“Franky why are you yelling?! Holy shit!”
“GET OUT!”

The Curse of Oenone (Leo Valdez xFem!Oc)
A/N: New year new book! Welcome back -Danny Words: 2,342 Series' Masterlist Previous Book // Next Chapter Listen to: 'How Far We've Come' -by Matchbox Twenty
Tumblr media
I: No Thoughts, Head Empty
Nothing prepares you to be a leader. You can be born as one, or climb your way up, but you rarely fall flat on the spot. You don't want that to be your case, but it is mine.
I'm not the only one with a new job, Rachel Dare got a job as our new oracle. Apollo's there and everything, he even talks to me and says the next solstice is going to be fun now that I'll be there to report how I'm handling everything in the mortal world.
When Rachel gives us the next big prophecy, Chiron offers her a room in the Big House until they figure out where to put her. Then he turns to me. "Our Daughter of Olympus," he states gravely. "Let's talk."
Percy steps forward. "Chiron, she's my little sister. What is—?"
"I'm not little," I interrupt him. "I can look after myself."
"What?" He scowls. "That's not what I'm saying, Ara, you're too young to be a General."
I'm the same age he was when we explored the labyrinth and no one told him he was too young to do that! I was twelve myself, I'm experienced enough to do whatever I want.
Chiron gives Percy a look. "Ara is our General, Percy. If she's willing, you may ask her what her new rank entails, after we're done talking."
Never before had I been above Percy, I'm usually the one pushed out of the room. Things are about to be very different from what we're both used to.
Tumblr media
Ara wakes up to people arguing on deck and she just had the worst talk of her life with Aphrodite. She has no time to process any of this, so she leaves her cabin and goes to the deck to see what's the commotion.
"Impossible!" Someone's yelling."Lay down your weapons and surrender! Leave my city immediately!"
"Which is it?" Leo taunts the stranger. "Surrender, or leave?"
"Both! Surrender, then leave. I am slapping your face for asking such a stupid question, you ridiculous boy! Do you feel that?"
"Wow," the boy continues. "You're wound up pretty tight. You got any gears in there that need loosening? I could take a look." Someone gets hit and Leo hisses.
Ara walks into the scene, still too drowsy to understand. "What's going on?"
Annabeth turns to her. "Strategus, this is the guardian of New Rome."
When her friend moves to the side, Ara realizes they've been talking to a statue. She has 1.5 seconds to accept this and nods at the bust. "You must be Terminus. I'm—"
"The Praetor's little sister," the statue isn't as rude when he talks to her. "The daughter of Olympus."
Ara frowns. "Did you just call my brother a Praetor?"
"Leo, stop the ship," Annabeth orders unexpectedly.
"What?"
She's looking over the railing. "You heard me. Keep us right where we are."
Leo looks at Ara for permission and she nods. They stop midway down, and Annabeth turns to the statue.
"Terminus, there's no rule against hovering over New Rome, is there?"
"Well, no..."
"We can keep the ship aloft," Annabeth explains. "We'll use a rope ladder to reach the forum. That way, the ship won't be on Roman soil. Not technically."
"Okay," Ara pipes in. "That's a safe middle ground for all of us. Terminus?"
"I like technicalities," he hums. "Still..."
"All our weapons will stay aboard the ship," Annabeth continues. "I assume the Romans—even those reinforcements marching toward us—will also have to honor your rules inside the Pomerian Line if you tell them to?"
"Of course! Do I look like I tolerate rule breakers?"
"Uh, girls..." Leo wavers. "You sure this is a good idea?"
Annabeth's face is telling her that no, she doesn't think this is a good idea and probably the rest can tell that too, so Ara steps in.
"If anything happens, we'll handle it like civilized people—and god."
"I suppose," the statue raises a brow. "For now. You may climb down your ladder to New Rome, Strategus. Please try not to destroy my town."
"Wouldn't dream of it," she places her compass on the god's platter.
Tumblr media
Chiron guides me across the strawberry fields. Lily and Nico follow us from a distance.
"Are they you're official guard?" The centaur asks bemusedly.
"Lily's my second in command. Nico is just following Lily, but he doesn't support my decision, not entirely."
Chiron glances at them and then eyes me with uncertainty. "You're the first child of Olympus in this camp, I don't know what kind of responsibilities you'll have here, but I know what must be done at once."
"I'm listening."
"You'll remove your stuff from Cabin Ten and take them to the Big House before dinner."
"Oh. That means I won't eat with my siblings either?"
"You're the caretaker of camp now," he explains. "You'll sit with Mr. D and I."
"But I... I was supposed to be Cabin Ten's counselor," I continue hesitantly. "What about that?"
"The position goes to the person next in line. You're the caretaker of all the campers," he repeats patiently.
"What about my lessons? And the chores?"
"At the risk of hurting your friends' feelings," he makes a face, "that's beneath you. Now you watch over the barriers, the campers, and our oracle. That, and any quest the gods may give you. Could be a trip to pick up Zeus's suits from the dry cleaner, could be leading a war."
"But I'll still live with Percy and my parents, right?"
"If you want," he looks at me. "But it's not ideal, Ara."
I glance back at Lily, it'd be fun to be with her, but I would miss Percy and my parents. "I think I'll try New York if it's all the same to you."
"It's not. You're a priority, and must train twice as hard as everyone else."
"I already do that..." I mumble.
"What your friends taught you makes you a skillful demigod, but they didn't prepare you for bigger threats. That's my job."
I'm not going to contradict Chiron, he knows better than me. "Can I ask you something?"
"Of course."
"Are you happy for me?" I shake my head. "No, scratch that, I know you're not. What I mean is... there's gotta be an upside to this, right?"
He ponders my question, circling back to the Big House. "What do you expect to get?"
"Nothing," I reply. "I'm half-hoping my friends will be left alone, that's it."
"What about you?"
I smile. "I'm just getting started."
"You might get tired faster this way."
"There's only one way to find out," I shrug. "When I was little, I didn't know what to do with my time, but I always enjoyed helping my friends. I think it's my calling."
Chiron looks at me funny when I say that, but he doesn't question me. Lily and Nico are waiting for me near the end of the fields, and the centaur stops right before we reach them.
"Meet me at Apollo's cabin after you move. They'll need your help there, some of our campers will arrive in shrouds."
I get an unpleasant feeling at the thought, but being a General means I have to look after my army... and give them a proper farewell too.
Tumblr media
Ara's wearing her cloak, and before leaving the ship she glimpsed into her dino bag and found her laurel crown in there. Lily must've packed it for her, but she doesn't know if it was to upset her or not. Ara has opted to hang it on her belt. She'd feel stupid wearing it, like a kid showing off, although she's feeling like a freak either way.
The Roman crowd points fingers and whispers when she walks past them. The statue mentioned Percy was a praetor now, if her brother's in charge, maybe they're looking forward to meeting her...
When she reaches the end of the road, she spots a girl with a purple cape just like hers. Ara's not impressed by the stranger, but surprised, because she recognizes her.
"It's you!"
Reyna's brows knit together. "Do I know you?"
Ara chuckles. "It's okay if you don't remember me," she offers to shake the praetor's hand. "You taught me how to do boxer braids!"
Reyna steps back, eyes widening. "You? But... Percy said you're his sister!" The girl exclaims, now with a bit of outrage. "You told me you didn't have a family!"
"Percy's mom adopted me the summer I met you," Ara grins.
"You've changed," Reyna's in distress, but Ara doesn't have time to ask why, because Percy decides to show up then.
He's acting like this is a party and he just happened to get there earlier than them. Ara's insides decompress when she sees him, but she barely manages to open her mouth when Annabeth rushes past and kisses him in front of everyone.
Ara diverts her gaze when the scarlet flash goes off. Without warning, Annabeth throws Percy to the ground and whispers something through gritted teeth. Percy laughs while Annabeth is still choking him.
"That's normal," Ara informs Reyna with a smile, "don't worry, Annabeth won't attack anyone else."
Jason clears his throat. "It's good to be back." He introduces everyone but leaves Ara to the very end. "This is our Strategus, Ara Jackson. I think you know her?"
"The daughter of Olympus," Reyna eyes her, serious and calculating. "The leader of all mortal armies."
Ara fixes her posture to look confident and excited. "Yes. I'm here to be your Praetor adjacent."
The people around them make noises of contempt that both, Reyna and Ara ignore. Reyna holds out her hand, and Ara shakes it.
"Welcome to New Rome, General. Centurions!" The girl raises her voice. "Tell the legion to stand down. Dakota, alert the spirits in the kitchen. Tell them to prepare a welcome feast. And, Octavian—"
"You're letting these intruders into the camp?" A boy that looks like a terminally-ill version of Luke interrupts her. "Reyna, the security risks—"
"We're not taking them to the camp, Octavian," Reyna drops Ara's hand, but the girl still senses a wave of dislike from her as she talks to Octavian. "We'll eat here, in the forum."
"Oh, much better," he replies sarcastically. "You want us to relax in the shadow of their warship."
"Our warship is as harmless..." Ara glances at the plushies hanging from his belt. "As a teddy bear, if it's left alone. The ship was made to protect us from the threats outside your borders, that's all."
"These are our guests." Reyna nods in agreement. "We will welcome them, and we will talk to them. As Augur, you should burn an offering to thank the gods for bringing Jason back to us safely and for bringing a child of Olympus to make us stronger."
"Good idea," Percy adds. "Go burn your bears, Octavian."
Reyna gestures at the blond guy before walking away. "You have my orders. Go."
The girl starts to walk in the direction of a building, but Ara stays behind and approaches her brother and Annabeth. As the crowd disperses, Percy holds Annabeth's hand and squeezes it.
"Don't worry about Octavian. Most of the Romans are good people—like Frank and Hazel here, and Reyna. We'll be fine."
Ara looks at the kids Percy is pointing at: they're the demigods of her dreams. She steps forward, the speech she's rehearsed about a thousand times spilling out faster than she can make sense of it.
"Percy, it's been so long, and I know—"
The boy pulls Ara in a bear hug. He's taller and stronger than he used to be, his skin looks darker thanks to the weeks spent under the sun, and his hair is longer as well, it's like a whole cooler version of Percy, which makes her feel a bit of a dork.
He kisses the top of her head. "You got bangs now! They make you look like a middle schooler, that's funny."
Ara's a little annoyed that he's talking and treating her this way in front of others. "Yeah..."
She holds him by the shoulders to take a proper look. Ara spots the SPQR tattoo on his forearm, identical to Jason's except for the trident. She can't help feeling the Romans marked him like cattle, and she dislikes that, so she focuses on the purple cloak around his shoulders instead.
"Praetor?" Ara raises a brow. "You just can't let me have one thing..."
He laughs. "I'm sorry, Birdy. I tried to suck, but they loved me right away."
Ara's been called Birdy all this time, but it was Percy who came up with the nickname in the first place, so hearing it from him hits differently after all these months of not hearing his voice. The girl cups his face and beams. "I missed you tons, you jerk."
Percy playfully flicks her nose and then goes back to Annabeth, holding her hand as he starts walking. "C'mon, I wanna show you around..."
Ara sees them holding hands while glowing scarlet and remembers they're not done with the introductions yet. "Wait! There's someone I want you to meet—"
"Later," he says distractedly. "Come, they've got an elephant and—"
"Percy," she presses. "This can't wait."
Her brother seems a little confused but smiles anyway. "Alright. Who is it?"
Ara looks over her shoulder and smiles at Leo a few feet away, he'd stayed behind waiting for her. She encourages him to approach, and when he does, she holds his hand. "Leo, this is my brother Percy. Percy, this is Leo Valdez, my boyfriend."
Percy's smile fades, and so does the joy in his eyes.
"Hi, man!" Leo grins, which only makes him look even more dangerous from Percy's point of view. He reminds him of the Stolls. "Ara was worried sick about you for months, I'm glad you're okay."
The older boy stares at Leo, which is not great because he doesn't have a gentle gaze. He looks downright murderous, and Leo tries very hard to act like he isn't scared shitless.
"Boyfriend?" Percy turns to Annabeth, his voice full of concern.
Annabeth holds back a smile. "I'll explain. Ara, you two go ahead, Reyna's waiting for you."
Ara doesn't argue, now that the worst has passed she wants some alone time with Leo to tell him about what Aphrodite told her.
She looks at her brother with what she hopes is a confident smile. "I'm really happy you're back, Nemo."
Something about the way he keeps looking at Leo makes Ara feel like he knows something she doesn't. Right now, however, she's got more important things to figure out.

Daughter of Olympus (Leo Valdez xFem!Oc)
A/N: Welcome to my last oc story! Ara is my youngest baby, I hope you grow to love her and her story -Danny Words: 2,839 Series' Masterlist Next Chapter Listen to: 'Boys Will Be Bugs' -by Cavetown
Tumblr media
I. Birth is a Curse and Existence is a Prison
Ara wants to scream into her pillow for the remainder of the year, but she's not allowed to show how desperate she feels, so instead, she grabs her compass and leaves the bedroom with an unperturbed step.
Things are starting to look up though, Annabeth had a creepy dream and if everything goes as planned, they'll find Percy today. Ara has to hold onto that hope, otherwise, she'll begin to fall in pieces.
She's never felt whole, to begin with.
Tumblr media
I've been looking for someone for as long as I can remember.
I used to think I was looking for my parents, back when I was an orphan, but then my satyr found me, and I thought all that time I'd been looking for other demigods. However, during my four years living at Camp Half-blood, I haven't been able to settle right.
Silena —my senior counselor— likes to say I'm Aphrodite's most chaotic form. I'm not good with swords, archery, or any weapon if I'm honest. I'm a danger to myself, but I keep trying to learn all of it because it's fun to see how far I can go each time.
Everyone has a thing here: Clarisse is a great warrior, Annabeth has wits beyond compare, Silena's a splendid pegasus rider, and I... I go big, never home.
Tumblr media
Annabeth's waiting for her outside the Big House, when the blonde spots her, she turns around and walks with a quick step. "You're driving the chariot."
"To where?" Ara puts on the aviator jacket, it doesn't fit her and it's too bulky to move around quickly, but she doesn't want to leave it behind, Nico might find it.
"Grand Canyon."
The girl frowns. "That's in the middle of nowhere important. Why are we going there?"
"We're about to find out," Annabeth replies.
"Can't wait for this to be over..." she mutters.
Annabeth hums and glances at her weirdly. Maybe she's starting to believe the rumor circulating around camp, the one about Ara being the camp's curse.
Tumblr media
"ARA!"
I look over my shoulder for a brief second as I run away, I didn't mean to blow up the washing machine, but of course, that's not what matters. What matters is that it blew up. I crash against someone tall and bulky and suddenly I'm being lifted: Charles Beckendorf eyes me with a frown.
He's five years older than me and a son of Hephaestus, which means he's stronger than I could ever be, and he's caught me red-handed. "What did you do this time?
"Hi, Charlie, Silena asked me to say hi on her behalf if I saw you first today!" I say sweetly. He's got a crush on my sister, and I like to take advantage of it. "I was washing clothes," I explain vaguely.
One of my brothers storms out of my cabin yelling my name, soaked and covered in foam. Beckendorf places me back on the ground and crosses his arms. "While people was still wearing them?"
As he takes me back to Silena, I see the new kid being carried to the Big House further uphill, but I'm dragged back into my cabin before I can take a proper look. My sister lectures me for a little while and then piles a bunch of clothes on my arms. "Be a good girl and wash them right."
I pout. "But it takes so long!"
Silena never snaps at me, though I would like her to. She doesn't scold me 'cause she thinks this is the best I can do, and doesn't seem to mind that I suck at everything. I mind. "Go."
I fumble with the doorknob until it opens, my foot slips on the last step outside my cabin and the pile of clothes flies out of my arms. I wince, hoping no one inside saw that. Chiron approaches me with a stern look, which it's the only way he ever looks at me. "Why are those clothes wet?"
"I blasted our washing machine," I mutter, looking down at the clothes.
"Why would you do that?"
I kneel to pick up the clothes. "It was so slow! Everything must be done a certain way or they send me to stable duty, I didn't want to wash their clothes all day, I've been washing them since I was six..." A pair of bruised hands reaches down to help and I look up. "You killed the Minotaur!"
The boy looks at Chiron as if waiting for an introduction. I take the lead like I always do. "I'm Ara," I hold out my palm. "Just Ara."
"Percy," he shakes my hand. "Jackson."
"Cool name! If I had a last name, I'd die if it were something bland like Smith or something. You know what I mean? You're pretty," I ramble.
"Ara, the clothes," Chiron reminds me.
I pick them up as I keep talking. "Silena says I should tell people what I like about them, it gives them confidence," I take the clothes from Percy's hands. "You look like you need that."
He seems slightly offended. I don't want to upset him, he's gone through enough already. "Ara," Chiron speaks firmly. "Finish your chores."
The boy helps me balance everything in my arms. "Thanks. It was nice meeting you!"
I want him to like me, maybe he'll be my friend if I do it right. I go away and out of the corner of my eye, I spot Annabeth. I forget about the clothes a second time. "Did you see him?" I ask as soon as I approach her.
"Yeah," she makes a face. "He's important."
"Important how?"
"He's the prophecy guy."
"What prophecy?"
Annabeth sighs and I feel embarrassed. She's the coolest girl on earth, right after Silena. I would say the same about Clarisse, but she's a bully. She's nice to me sometimes though, when no one's looking. Gives me Reese's on my birthday every year. She looked after me when Hedge got us to camp, and sometimes treats me like a pup she found on the street... I'm not sure I like that.
What was I saying? Right! Annabeth sighs, and I feel embarrassed. "The big prophecy," she wrinkles her nose. "It's him..."
I don't care much for the prophecy. "Does that mean he's here to help you?"
Annabeth's expression darkens. "He better be." The blonde girl notices the clothes in my arms and grins. "Go on, if you finish your chores early you can come with me."
"To do what?"
"Finish up and I'll tell you," she ruffles my hair and leaves, I know better than to try and pry a secret out of Annabeth, so I go away too.
To be clear, I do know what a big prophecy is. Every once in a while one of those comes and we're meant to fulfill it, but I'll never be part of one, so I don't see why I should care. The new kid looks like he should, though, he has intriguing eyes like Annabeth's.
I'm always bored, but maybe Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase can fix that. It's exciting to be friends with real heroes.
Tumblr media
"There!" Annabeth clutches Ara's shoulder. "I see them!"
"Them?" She raises a brow. "Do you see Percy?"
"Get closer!"
Annabeth jumps off the chariot as soon as they land and approaches the trio of teens. Ara sees her start a heated conversation with one of them, pointing her dagger at his throat.
"No Percy..." Ara says weakly, holding onto the chariot with pale shaky hands. The girl pulls out the compass from her pocket and stares at it with anger, it never stays still.
Tumblr media
Percy's the son of Poseidon. No one wants to admit it 'cause is bad news. I don't care, though. "Hi!" I sit next to him at the campfire. "You remember me?"
"Er... Ara?" He frowns a little.
"Yeah! We should be friends—"
"You know little Ara?" Luke sits behind us. "If she hadn't been claimed, I would've believed she was one of my siblings! Tends to blow things up when she's not being watched, so you better keep your distance." I pout at his description, I don't want Percy to think I'm dangerous. "But she's a good girl at heart, I promise."
"I'm not good at most things," I sigh, "but that one, I am."
"You're a year-rounder?" Percy asks.
"Yup! Been an orphan all my life. Well, half an orphan, I guess," Percy looks away when I mention this, Annabeth told me to be careful, he's still sad about his mother. Unfortunately, I forgot. "So... What do you think?" The boy stares at me blankly. "About being friends," I remind him.
"Oh. Yeah, sure." He shrugs like it's no big deal. "Sounds good."
Tumblr media
"Strategus Jackson!" Annabeth calls after her.
Ara turns and studies the people her friend brought, something catches her eye: Messy curls and dark eyes. The boy is staring at her and she doesn't know why, but it feels like they've met before, it annoys her.
Ara's gaze moves away from him, but it's hard to ignore him. "Where's Hedge?"
"Ask him," Annabeth glares at the blond boy next to her. "This is Jason. What do you think?"
Ara eyes him carefully. "They're toying with us." The sky rumbles and the girl scowls at it, she goes back to the chariot. "Let's go back—And you three," she looks at the group of demigods over her shoulder. "You're coming with us."
"You got it!" The curly-haired boy hurries to stand next to her in the chariot, he's about six inches taller than she is, but much thinner.
The brown-haired girl behind Annabeth speaks to Ara. "What's her problem? What's going on?"
"It's a long story," Ara faces forward avoiding everyone's eyes, she feels like she'll burst into tears if she's forced to keep talking
"I'm not going anywhere with her," Jason argues. "She tried to kill me!"
"That's not my problem." Ara pauses. She has to stop acting this way, it's not these kids' fault. "She means no harm, my..." It's been three years since she was adopted, and she'd never felt self-conscious about it until now. "My brother went missing. Annabeth's boyfriend. Someone told her we would find an answer here, but it was a bunch of bull."
"Sorry?" The white boy raises a brow.
"Not your fault," she can feel a migraine coming. "Let's leave before something else comes. I'm Ara. Ara Jackson."
"General Jackson to you," Annabeth sounds only the tiniest bit sarcastic. "She worked hard to get that position, so make sure to—"
"Annabeth," she scowls. "That's enough, thank you." She tries to remain calm, but as they rise up in the chariot, she turns to her friend with annoyance. "Why him, I'm supposed to be their go-to girl, they promised! Why wasn't I taken?"
"Hey, doll, if you want to be taken I will—"
"Get any closer and you'll lose both hands," she snaps at the dark-haired boy.
He clears his throat awkwardly. "Alright, not there yet..." he looks around. "Where are we going?"
"A safe place," Annabeth replies. "The only safe place for kids like us. Camp Half-Blood."
"Half-Blood?" The new girl frowns. "Is that some kind of bad joke?"
"She means we're demigods," Jason clarifies. "Half god, half mortal."
Annabeth and Ara look at him suspiciously. "You seem to know a lot, Jason. But, yes, demigods. My mom is Athena, goddess of wisdom. Ara's the daughter of Olympus."
Jason frowns as he studies her looks. "You're a minor goddess?"
"I can tell," the other boy nods approvingly.
Ara rolls her eyes, stopping herself from throwing the small guy off the chariot. "No. When the war ended, that title's what I got as a... reward." Annabeth scoffs, but she ignores her.
"War?" The blond boy sounds even more aghast. "You've gone to war?"
"It's what demigods do. We go to battle."
"Demigods," the new girl blinks. "You mean you think you're... you think we're—"
Lightning comes crashing down on their chariot and Jason gasps. "Left wheel's on fire!"
Ara forces the pegasi to fly faster until they reach the limits of camp, the damage on the wheel is terrible though, and they're losing speed and height, she can't control it.  "Emergency landing!" Annabeth holds tight, but the rest have no idea of what's coming.
The crash lasts only a second, when she swims out of the lake, the campers salute her and she vaguely dismisses them. Ara glimpses at the broken chariot, really close to tears. Lily Saggio—Ara's best friend and right-hand girl—approaches them with a leaf blower and dries Ara in the blink of an eye.
"What's going on?" She asks, though coming from her it always sounds demanding. "Where's Percy?"
"Still missing," Ara replies shortly, trying to swallow the lump in her throat.
"Girls!" Will Solace walks up to them in shock. "I said you could borrow the chariot, not destroy it!"
"Will, I'm sorry," Annabeth heaves a sigh. "We'll get it fixed, I promise."
"I'll fix it," Ara vows. "It's just the wheel, I can get it done in a day."
The son of Apollo frowns, but he doesn't argue. "These are the ones? Way older than thirteen. Why haven't they been claimed already?"
"Maybe because they weren't here at camp," Ara shrugs.
"So there's no sign of Percy?"
"No." People whisper around them, Ara's hand closes in a tight fist and she looks away from the crowd, she's ashamed.
"You're really living up to your name, aren't you?" Drew Tanaka steps forward. "Is this what you meant by changing our cabin's reputation?"
Ara steps forward menacingly but Lily stops her, so she raises her voice. "What have you done for us, Drew? You're still wetting bedsheets with piss—oh sorry, perfume."
Drew pushes through to get to her but Will gets in the way. "I hope they're worth the trouble," she studies the kids behind Ara with a sneer.
"Gee, thanks. What are we, your new pets?" The flirty boy scoffs.
"No kidding," Jason scowls. "How about some answers before you start judging us—like, what is this place, why are we here, how long do we have to stay?"
All of Ara's niceness has been drained out for the time being, Percy's disappearance was a slap on the face, she's barely keeping it together. This, plus cabin nine's current issue, is testing her mastership as a leader. Everything is going wrong and she can't fix it.
"Jason," Annabeth starts. "I promise we'll answer your questions. And Drew, you better start respecting Ara, she's your General, not just your sister anymore. Besides, all demigods are worth saving. Although I'll admit, the trip didn't accomplish what I hoped."
"Hey, we didn't ask to be brought here."
"And nobody wants you, hon," Drew sneers at the new girl. "Does your hair always look like a dead badger?"
"Piper, stop." Annabeth stands in the way of the new camper before she can attack Drew. "We need to make our new arrivals feel welcome. We'll assign them each a guide, give them a tour of camp. Hopefully by the campfire tonight, they'll be claimed."
"I have to talk to Chiron," Ara tries to walk away, but Lily holds onto her wrist.
"You're their guide," she reminds her. "Make sure they get claimed."
"Like that's in my hands!" Ara scoffs.
"Would somebody tell me what claimed means?" Piper demands.
A hologram appears above them: Red, resembling a hammer and hovering over the brown-eyed boy. "That," Annabeth raises a brow, "is claiming."
"You gotta be kidding me," Ara groans internally.
"What'd I do?" The boy yelps. "Is my hair on fire?"
"This can't be good," a camper says. "The curse—"
"Butch, shut up," Annabeth interrupts him. "Leo, you've just been claimed—"
Ara didn't hear his name before, but she looks at him and thinks: "Yeah, that's him. Duh." Which is weird. Why does it sound familiar? Everything about him feels that way...
"By a god," Jason comments. "That's the symbol of Vulcan, isn't it?"
Silence followed his comment.
"Jason... how did you know that?"
"I'm not sure."
"Vulcan? I don't even LIKE Star Trek. What are you talking about?"
"Vulcan is the Roman name for Hephaestus," Annabeth glances at Ara as she replies, but the girl keeps her eyes on Leo, trying to figure out from where she knows him. "The god of blacksmiths and fire."
"The god of what? Who?"
Annabeth addresses Ara directly this time. "You told Jake—"
"I know," Ara states in annoyance before taking a deep breath. "Fine. Come with me, Leo."
"No need to be sad about it," he pouts. "And I'm not a Vulcan!"
He's confused and stressed and doesn't deserve to be tossed around, so Ara tries to be nicer. Percy would hate to see her mistreat a camper, so she attempts to sound a little more like her old self.
"I'll help you understand," she gestures at him to follow. "C'mon, I'm sure you've got lots of questions."

The Curse of Oenone (Leo Valdez xFem!Oc)
A/N: I'm seeing Hozier tomorrow wish me safe travel! -Danny Words: 2,230 Series' Masterlist Previous Chapter // Next Chapter Listen to: 'Chronically Cautious' -by Braden Bales

XVI: I Hope Ya'll Were Paying Attention, 'Cause I'm Never Doing That Again
From now on, Ara won't think about anything else than taking the seven demigods to the ancient lands. Once there she'll save Nico, and after that... she'll do what she must to make sure her camp gets saved, and maybe break her curse in the process.
Annabeth sits her on the mattress. "I shouldn't have forced you to do three missions in a row—"
Ara groans. "That is the only reason I'm here. And one of the missions was a tea party where Aphrodite complimented my eyeliner." She touches her face in sudden realization. "Oh gods, my eyeliner! Do I look insane?"
Annabeth smiles a little. "The storm and your crying washed it all away—you should get a better brand."
"I like how easy to remove it is," she lies on her back. "And that brand has pretty colors..."
The ship is groaning and swaying from one side to another, but Ara isn't allowed on deck. She had a meltdown and Frank had to carry her to the sickbay, and now she's too weak to do anything.
Ara stepped into the role of daughter of Olympus so sure of herself, and now... Why couldn't all this happen when she had the option to step out? She remembers how harshly she judged Clarisse during the first war, but now she understands that sometimes being impartial is not an option.
When the storm gets more violent, Annabeth is forced to leave the room. "I have to go help..."
Ara says something before Annabeth leaves her cabin. "You don't have to worry about me bailing out after this. I'll help you defeat Gaea if it is the last thing that I do." She stares at the ceiling with a blank expression. "I'm sorry I freaked out, I suck at diplomatic stuff. Lily always took care of that part..."
Annabeth crosses her arms and sighs heavily. "Yeah, that was concerning. You used to hold your front just fine, what happened?"
Ara makes a face. "Aphrodite told me not to be rash and I didn't listen. I wonder why I ignore her when she's trying to help..."
"You always complained about being underestimated," Annabeth shrugs. "Maybe you're doing the same to her."
Ever since the gods stripped her of her Aphrodite identity and dressed her in General attire, Ara has done her best to hide who her godly parent originally was. She acted all offended when Leo didn't believe she was from Cabin Ten, but deep down, she'd been satisfied. The implications of that, of course, are terrible, so Ara decides to ignore it.
"Could you not..." she clears her throat and speaks with more authority. "Don't tell the others, I don't want them to freak out over nothing. Let them have peace before we reach Rome."
"I figured you'd say that," Annabeth sighs. "Fine."
Tumblr media
Moving my stuff out of Cabin Ten isn't hard, I haven't kept much in there since I moved to New York. I choose a room on the second floor of the Big House, close to the stairs so I can get out fast in case of an emergency.
Nico takes the room across from mine, and Rachel the one in the middle. We go to Apollo's cabin, and the campers salute me as I enter. Nico and Lily stay outside to start the funeral rituals and I help where I can. I use my empath touch on the mourners until I can't hold more of their grief, I employ my charmspeak so the wounded rest.
I stand next to Chiron and Mr D and we burn the shrouds, as that comes to an end, I introduce myself as the new head of camp. I promise to be there to help and protect them.
During dinner, Nico sits with me because he doesn't have a table. Tomorrow I'll see that he gets one. Lily will help him design his cabin, they'll leave tomorrow night and Lily will stay a few weeks in the Underworld to help Daedalus, I know she's hoping to catch a glimpse of Mike.
Campers approach our table to congratulate Nico, but they give me nervous glances as they move to me. Some of them, the Cabin Nine and Cabin Ten campers seem happy, although my siblings also look concerned about having Drew as their new counselor. I had to give up the spot for the bigger part, I was never a proper Aphrodite anyway, perhaps this is better.
The Stolls want me to change rules so they can go out on the weekends, but when I tell them that's out of my control, they lose interest in my title.
Most campers are anxious, Drew's spreading rumors about a curse, she says a child of Olympus and peace are mutually exclusive, and having me on camp taunts the fates. She tells everyone it's in my name: The bringer of curses.
The first night though, they're willing to give me a shot.
I go to bed completely exhausted, so I don't wake up when Rachel walks in and stares at me for Hades knows how long. I wake and jump out of my skin when I notice the girl at the foot of my bed. I reach for Almighty but then notice the bushy hair and the large T-shirt.
"Rachel?" I speak hoarsely.
Her eyes snap open and illuminate the room with their green light.
"When the dove touches the smith
Almighty raises her myth
And the curse of love releases
By tearing earth into pieces."
Rachel stumbles forward and holds onto the bedframe.
"W-Wha..." she blinks, her eyes going back to normal. "Where am I?"
I gulp. "My room."
She looks at me. "How did I get here?" Understanding falls on her features. "Did I just..?"
"Go to bed, Rachel," I get up.
"What did I say?"
I guide her out of my room and back to hers. She sits on the bed and I hand her the glass of water she had on the nightstand. "Can you please keep this a secret?"
Rachel frowns. "Why? What did I say?"
"Something that has to do with me, and only me."
"Are you sure?"
"Well, the oracle took you to my room, so if I had to guess..."
"But what did I say?" She insists.
"I'll figure it out, Rachel."
"But—"
"Please," I press. "That's—er, an order."
"The Oracle doesn't answer to you, General," she gives me a grumpy look.
My shoulders fall. "Can't you do it as a friend?"
"What thing?" She teases me. "Keep the secret, or answering to you?"
"It wasn't a big deal, so I can take care of it on my own."
She doesn't believe me. Nothing was ever "not a big deal" if the Oracle was spitting out a prophecy about it.
"Alright. But if you end up needing help, you have to ask for it."
I tense, not wanting to utter the words, but if I don't, Rachel will tell Chiron.
"I promise."
Tumblr media
There are better ways to wake up from a nap than to turn your room sideways.
The nap worked though, so as she navigates the large corridors slamming against the walls, she manages not to throw up at all until she reaches the deck.
"Holy—!"
"What's going— Gah! Shrimpzilla!" Percy crashes against her.
"What is that?!" Ara screams, drawing out Almighty and almost crawling to reach the helm.
"Must be one of Keto's stupid monsters!" Annabeth yells. "How did it get so close?"
"I don't know!" Hedge shouts.
"I'm stupid!" Leo cries out. "Stupid, stupid! I forgot the sonar!"
The ship tilts again, almost completely on one side.
"Sonar?" Hedge growls. "Pan's pipes, Valdez! Maybe if you hadn't been staring into Hazel's eyes, holding hands for so long—"
"What?" Frank and Ara reply in shock.
"It wasn't like that!" Hazel argues.
"It doesn't matter!" Piper intervenes. "Jason, can you call some lightning?"
Jason is completely drained from their encounter with the Romans, and Percy isn't any better. The monster's thin wire-like legs slid over the deck and Ara barely ducks and presses herself against the railing.
"Stay away from my ship!" Ara slashes tendrils as she goes.
"Hazel!" Leo screams. "That box! Open it!"
Ara's eyes land on the box of Greek fire Leo keeps on deck. She knows what he's got in mind.
"Ara, go and help!" The boy continues to give out orders. "Coach, take the wheel! Turn us toward the monster, or we'll capsize!"
"Hope you got a plan!" The satyr runs up to him.
Ara has half a mind to think about what Hedge said about Leo and Hazel, the current monster threatening to sink them is far more important than whatever feelings she may have about it, if she has any at all. Janus came, and she chose duty. She mutes her emotions and does what Leo asks of her, running to Hazel and opening the wooden box.
"You gotta be gentle with these," she warns her.
"Ara," Hazel starts. "What Hedge said—"
"I don't care!" She snaps at her impatiently. "Come on!"
"Frank!" Leo runs across the deck. "Buy us some time! Can you turn into a shark or something?"
Frank scowls at Leo, and the monster knocks him out of the ship when he gets distracted. Hazel cries out and almost drops the vials she's holding, but Leo catches them when he arrives at their side.
"Come on! We can kill the monster—and save Frank!" He glances at Ara, his expression telling her nothing at all. "Can you help us climb to the port rail?"
"Yes."
"What is this stuff?" Hazel pants as Ara drags them up the deck.
"Greek fire!" Leo shouts.
"Are you crazy? If these break, we'll burn the whole ship!"
"Its mouth!" Leo points as they reach the railing, he holds onto it to not slip back down. "Just chuck it down its—"
Once again, Ara is the only one fast enough to dodge the tendril. She slips back and watches in horror as Hazel and Leo get lifted. The girl glares at the monster, Lily's stygian dagger gets heavier on her belt. "You asked for it..."
Leo singes the creature so it loosens its grip. It feels like it happens in slow motion, Ara can tell what his plan is as it happens, and she only has a few seconds to help. She presses twice on the alpha of her sword, turning it into a BB gun.
She shoots at the same time Leo throws his vial of Greek fire at the monster. The pellet crashes against it and makes it explode directly into the monster's mouth. Hazel throws the second vial, and Ara shoots again. That one explodes in the monster's line of vision.
Ara presses on the alpha twice, and Almighty turns into a grappling hook. It attaches to the main mast, and the girl jumps overboard drawing out Lily's dagger. She swings across the length of the monster, cutting through the creature's skin.
It's not a deep cut, but the injury is long, and mixed with Leo's Greek fire weakens the beast enough so it loosens its grip on the ship. Ara's hand hurts from holding all of her weight, but she pays no attention to it as the tool yanks her back into the ship. She stumbles to a stop, then puts Lily's dagger away and her skin glows teal.
"Everyone hold onto the railing!" A wave pushes them away from the monster, and Ara forces the currents to keep pushing until they're out of reach. "Annabeth, the ballista!"
Her friend shoots twice, the creature shrieks, and then the sea swallows it leaving nothing on the surface. Ara slips to the floor, her face turning green.
"Ara," Piper approaches. "Leo and Hazel—"
"And Frank," Ara nods dryly. "Where is my brother?"
"The monster knocked him out," Jason gets closer too, eyeing her with concern. "We should check on you too."
"Feed him ambrosia and bring him up," she turns Almighty back into a compass and looks at it, the needle moves speedily over the symbols without stopping and makes her dizzier, so she looks away. "We gotta search the sea."
Tumblr media
"Ara, we have a problem with the—"
"In a moment," she stops Annabeth and leans over the rail to talk to Percy. "What do you mean they're gone?!"
"I can't find them!" Percy shouts back, floating right next to the Argo II. "And no one here has seen them!"
"I saw them fall! Keep looking!" Ara looks back at Annabeth. "You were saying?"
Ara clings to her role and does her best, but Leo is the one who fixes what's in the engine room so that will have to wait until he comes back. If he comes back. In the meantime, Ara takes care of the rest with Annabeth's help and makes sure everyone patches up their wounds.
Percy comes back on board frustrated, this is the first time he's lost a battle against a sea monster, and he's deeply confused at the fact that he wasn't able to find any of their friends. Ara remains hopeful, if there are no bodies, then they didn't die.
Annabeth approaches and places a hand on Ara's shoulder. "We have to warn the camp about Octavian."
They call Chiron. Annabeth and Ara explain what happened. At least this she's familiar with, preparing the camp for attacks used to be her bread and butter.
"We'll be okay, Strategus," Chiron tells her. "Your job is to keep the seven in one piece until they finish the quest. Focus on nothing else."
"She's doing a great job," Annabeth informs him. "Last night she killed Shrimpzilla and made it look easy."
"Shrimpzilla took three of our crew," Ara points out sternly. "I gotta keep searching, Chiron, but... Tell everyone I'll return soon. I... I promise."
Chiron gives her a sympathetic look. Being a leader is nothing like she thought it'd be.

Daughter of Olympus (Leo Valdez xFem!Oc)
A/N: One thing I love about these two is how blatant they are about their feelings, there is no hesitation (there is a lot and is drowning them) -Danny Words: 2,634 Series' Masterlist Previous Chapter / Next Chapter Listen to: 'Message In A Bottle' -by Taylor Swift

XXVII: I Don't Have High Hopes but I Think Leara Should Be Our Ship Name
"You remember when Annabeth explained to us how Athena kids are born?"
"Yeah?"
"I get it now," Ara mumbles absentmindedly. "The meeting of minds thing."
Lily peers over the chariot. "What?"
"I've got a crush," Ara tightens the nave, hunching so she doesn't have to face Lily.
Her friend gasps and pulls Ara up, dragging her to a tall bench. "Who is it? You always go for the craziest option available!"
"That's not true!" She scowls.
"I always thought Aphrodite kids had good taste, but you don't."
"I'll ignore that," Ara leaves her tools on the workbench. "Cause I really wanna tell you."
Lily smiles eagerly. "Okay. I'm listening."
"Well... It's a boy."
"Yikes," she sits on the bench next to Ara's and supports her elbow on the workbench. "Do I know him?"
"Yeah, er... just met him."
"Oh," Lily's expression shifts. "Oh no, Ara."
"What?" She pouts. "You can't say that's a bad pick!"
Her friend wrinkles her nose. "Leo Valdez? Are you sure?"
"You don't approve," Ara sighs knowingly.
Lily rolls her eyes. "I get why you like him... but is he really the safe option?"
"Lily!"
"Well," she frowns. "All I'm saying is, you get along with Jason just the same!"
Ara's taken by surprise. "Jason?"
"Why not?" Her friend insists. "Your siblings love him, like, they're obsessed—"
"Piper likes him, Lily," Ara makes a face.
"Ugh, fine! But Leo is bound to get you hurt," Lily explains like it's obvious.
"No, he wouldn't! Why would you even think that?" Ara's getting upset for no reason, she has to wrap it up.
Lily crosses her arms and Ara knows she's in for a lecture. "He's insane, Ara. Have you talked to him for more than just five minutes? I have the feeling he doesn't even like people at all."
"That's not fair, you don't like talking to people either," she reminds her.
"Yeah, but I like you, and I make an effort for you," she insists in an exasperated voice.  "Nothing against him, he just doesn't have time to be a good boyfriend, and you know it. Don't pursue him, Ara."
Telling Ara she can't do something is giving her entrance to prove others wrong. "But I like him, isn't that enough?"
"Listen, if you date Leo, you won't be his priority," Lily tries to reason. "You shouldn't settle for the bare minimum. Also, you're Olympus's go-to girl—"
"This is exactly why I didn't want to tell you," Ara snaps defensively. "You go on about common sense like it's so easy. I know better."
It's not up to her to decide anymore, Leo's soul light matches hers, and all she can do is come to terms with it. Lily's observations aren't wrong, but she doesn't understand just how much of a dead end Ara is facing.
Lily's eyes darken. "Right, because you have always made the right choice."
Ara knows what she's insinuating, and she won't allow it. "Thank you for helping me with the chariot, you're dismissed for the day."
"Naí, Strategus."
Lily grabs her stuff so she can leave, but someone else storms into the room before that can happen.
"I'm going to gut you!" Nico Di Angelo stops in front of Ara, holding the old aviator jacket to her face.
Tumblr media
We convince Nico to stay for the rest of the summer, but it doesn't matter how much we try to include him in our routine, he doesn't like it here.
Lily hands him a bag with food and drachmas. "Thank you for helping us this summer."
"You won't try to stop me from leaving?" He asks reluctantly.
"We know you'll be careful," I smile. "Ghost King."
Nico makes a face. "Shut up."
"It suits you," Lily teases him. "It's an honor to be friends with a king."
"Whatever," he turns away.
"You didn't deny we're friends, though!" I laugh. "Wait! We have one last favor to ask you!"
He glances back over his shoulder. "What?"
"Look for the children of Olympus!"
"What's that?"
"Nothing important, just... if you contact any of them, ask them how they became it. Heracles and Achilles."
Nico's face is hard to read, but he nods. "I'll try."
"See you later, Neeks!"
"Maybe," he replies shortly.
Percy runs into us at that moment. Lily goes away claiming she has business to attend to with the Stolls, but I know she wants to be sad in private. Nico's the only kid who resembles her around here, and now he's leaving, claiming this is not his place. I wonder what that makes her think.
Mr D asks Percy and me to walk with him. He takes us to the campfire, where Clarisse and Chris are having a moment.
Percy doesn't understand Mr. D's sudden change of heart, but I do.
"...remember that a kind act can sometimes be as powerful as a sword. As a mortal, I was never a great fighter or athlete or poet. I only made wine. The people in my village laughed at me. They said I would never amount to anything. Look at me now. Sometimes small things can become very large indeed." He gives me a look. "That weapon you carry is flashy... Make sure it doesn't dim your brains."
He leaves us, and I stare at the purple aura surrounding Clarisse and Chris. Percy speaks beside me. "Hey! That's right, you got a sword!"
I smile. "Hephaestus gave it to me. It's called Pantodýnamos."
Percy cocks his head to the side. "That's weird... I feel like I've heard that before."
"Almighty? Yeah, about a hundred times in every book of ancient history."
"Right," he grins. "And it sure is almighty, I saw you killing all those monsters—How did it feel?"
"Like small things can become very large indeed," I quote for Percy's amusement.
He pauses for a moment, suddenly worried. "But why did Hephaestus give it to you? He didn't seem to like you at first."
I open my mouth to reply, but I'm his little sister, he'll freak out if I tell him what my fate is. "I guess he changed his mind," I lie. "Maybe he likes that I chose him over my mother."
Percy seems to believe it. "Well, I feel better knowing you have a good way to defend yourself."
He ruffles my hair and walks me to the campfire. Lily's with the Stolls, next to her is Michael, and he's staring at me. When we lock eyes he smiles and winks. I look away feeling self-conscious, and a golden light brightens my skin.
"Oh, crap..." I mutter in distress.

During the campfire, Ara realizes Leo is nowhere to be found. It comes to her that if he's not here then he probably didn't have dinner either, and she can't ignore that.
The girl leaves the amphitheater and goes to get drinks and her on-the-verge-of-dying T-Rex bag, then approaches the forest, where she whistles and Apollo is quick to appear on her side. Ara rides him to the bunker, it's dark out and she's not looking to fight monsters at this hour.
She enters the bunker quietly, all the lights are off with the exception of one on top of Festus's platform, next to it Leo is scribbling something on a blueprint.
"Holy, Hephaestus!" Ara gasps. Before her, the ship's shell is already being built.
Leo gives a start. "Hi, doll!" He hastily tries to clean his workspace. "I know, I know, dinner time. Let me just—"
"Dinner was two hours ago," Ara walks up to him.
"Oh," he blinks. "Whoops."
The girl places a soda and a sandwich on his workbench. "You forget to eat and your reaction is 'Whoops'?"
"You can't judge me, Miss 'Huh'," Leo grabs the food. "I just thought—"
"You can think?" Ara sits on the platform and pats Festus' head, Apollo curls next to Leo's workbench ready to take a nap.
"Ha ha," Leo rolls his eyes. "I'm a genius, you know..."
"Don't get too comfy, boy," she speaks to her lion. "We'll head back in a moment."
Leo pouts. "You're leaving already?"
"You're coming with us," she raises a brow. "I can't let you stay here."
"You're no fun," he sighs. "My mom and I used to sleep in her workshop sometimes."
"You have a good bed in cabin nine," she insists calmly. "And I'm a fun girl, you just push my buttons."
"I've noticed," Leo smirks. "But you keep coming back, so maybe I don't push them enough."
"Hm," Ara looks around curiously. The bunker's full of life already; Annabeth was right after all, she's dying to work here. "Anyway, hurry up and eat. I gotta leave Apollo with the pegasus, he'll spend the night chasing the poor harpies otherwise."
Leo makes a face. "You know how batshit that sounds?"
Ara smiles a little. "You'll get used to it eventually."
Leo walks over to where she is. "Can I ask you something?"
"Shoot."
"Is it true what they say? That you can't fall in love?"
Ara laughs. "Who says that?"
"Malcolm."
She shakes her head. "No! That's nuts!"
"It's not true?" He asks, sitting next to her.
Ara notices the faint glow of his skin. "Love is the one thing that keeps me going."
He tilts his head. "Really?"
"I mean, if I were incapable of loving, my life would be pointless."
"So you're willing to date?" His voice turns a bit hopeful. "Let's say, a mechanic genius with amazing looks?"
"Are you asking me out?" She inquires with amusement.
"Yeah, I think I am," Ara's shoulder is touching his, and Leo's breath catches in his throat as he leans closer.
"Leo..." Ara's not sure this is how she wants things to happen. "I... I..."
A playful smirk appears on the boy's face. "Are you about to confess? It'd be great if you said something like 'You're so attractive it makes me insane', even if it's a lie."
"Are you teaching me how to flirt with you?" Ara's head is spinning but his teasing annoys her enough to clear her head.
"You look like you need help. And you're not threatening to maim me for sitting this close to you like the day we met," Heat spreads across his cheeks, and he finishes the sentence quietly. "I can stop if you want."
Ara blushes, looking down at where their hands are placed, one next to the other. "I've gotten used to you, that's all..."
Leo glances at their hands and he lightly touches hers with the tip of his pinky. He looks up to her eyes and waits. She's not doing anything, but his heart is throbbing painfully as he sits in expectation.
"You're doing a great job here, by the way," Ara tells him.
Leo nods, not listening to a single word of what she just said. He moves slightly closer, closing the gap between them until their faces are just a few inches apart. The boy tilts his head and softly brushes his lips against hers for a brief moment.
The proximity makes him so dizzy he pushes himself away almost instantly. He's in honest disbelief, no girl had ever allowed him to get that close, he nearly wants to ask Ara if she's in her right mind.
In spite of his attempt to stop, their noses are still brushing. He's right there, he could kiss her if he wanted to, and he is dying to, but he wants her permission.
"I know I don't know a lot about you," he places his hand on top of hers. "But since I met you I've had this feeling... I don't even know what it means, but I'll try my best to be whatever you want, just..."
Ara wants to kiss him so badly that her chest hurts. The girl clears her throat and moves away, desperately trying to de-escalate the situation. "I don't date guys that could set me on fire, though."
For a moment, the sound of his heart pounding is all Leo can hear and process. Then Ara's breathing, slow and strained. It takes him a while to make sense of her words.
The way she's acting gives him hope. He feels so close to getting all he ever wanted, even if he doesn't even know what that entails.
He moves away too, trying to calm down. He drinks half of his Coke in one gulp. "You're gonna talk about cons? Let me talk about yours, then."
Ara's mouth falls open. "You've known me for like three days!"
"Six, actually," he replies. "So it's a looong list." Ara punches his shoulder. "Ouch! That a yes or a no?" Leo laughs, he can't help but think how cute she looks when she's pouting.
"I'll give you one and you gotta say one in turn, alright?" She replies. "Let's see who's got more."
A devilish look appears on Leo's face. He tilts his head slightly. "You're bossy."
"You're a flirt with every girl you find pretty."
He grins. "That sounds more like a compliment."
"It's not."
"Are you sure?"
"Just give me a con!"
"You're impatient."
"Some of your jokes are cringe."
Leo gasps, pretending to be insulted. "That's harsh."
"I give you permission to be a little harsh, then," Ara grins.
"Alright. You're a terrible flirt."
Ara responds with a feisty look in her eyes. "You have no proper strength for a demigod."
"Dang, now this is just roasting," Leo takes a bite of his sandwich. "My powers are a work in progress, sunshine. I'd try my best to protect you though, if that counts for anything."
Ara sighs and stares at her feet. "If you're not sure you can, then don't do it," the girl nudges his arm. "Your turn. You said you had a long list, right?"
"I was lying," he admits casually. "But feel free to keep going, I need the reality check."
Ara groans and looks away. "I ran out of cons too."
Leo pats her knee. "At least we tried. Now what?"
Ara's knee is tingling where he touched it. "I'm not a flirt," she blurts out. "Silena taught me to be kind and hand out compliments to everyone. If I'm a terrible flirt it's cause I've never tried to flirt with anyone, this is just how I am."
Ara is kind of weird, but Leo is starting to get her. She isn't as hard to understand as most people, maybe cause she always says what she means. "I'm a bit of a flirt," he replies, "but I try not to flirt with you at all, 'cause if you were to flirt back, I'm pretty sure I'd drop dead."
Ara giggles, her face is as red as the strawberries they grow in camp, but she doesn't seem to mind. "You're so dramatic—But you make me laugh, like, real laughter. Can't do that easily nowadays..."
"Wow," he says, trying to sound like he's joking. "You like me a lot."
He lets the statement sink in, giving her the opportunity to deliver a firm rejection.
"I never said I didn't."
"What?" There is a whirlwind of emotions inside of him, too much data has entered his hard drive. He can't even feel his face at this point. "What do you mean?" He urges her. "Cause it's kinda sounding like you've got feelings for me—"
"I know how it sounds," Ara scowls.
"But... then..." He stammers.
Ara fixes her eyes on the lion. A sudden wave of panic is making her second-guess everything, maybe she should follow Lily's advice.
"Listen, Leo... You have a ship to build, and I have to find my brother. Those are the priorities. After that, we have to defeat Miss Dirt-face. We don't have time for feelings."
It's like she's trying to convince herself, but what he hates the most is that it's true, and it hurts like hell. The first time he meets a cute girl who's attracted to him, and they can't be together. His life is just that great.
"Right. Let's focus on the prophecies now, and maybe if we survive that, we can think about dating," he replies, sounding overly sarcastic. "Sorry for asking..." Every fiber in his body wants to scream. Is he destined to be rejected even by the people who want to choose differently?
Ara gets up as gracefully as possible. "Please, don't stay here for long. Go to sleep."
She heads to the door in silence. The boy doesn't go after her, all he does is reply under his breath. "See you."
Pollo gets up and follows Ara out of the bunker, leaving Leo alone with his longing.

XIX: The Son of Olympus
First impression of Heracles: Hot. He's a god, so of course he'd look the part. He kind of reminds her of Percy, if Percy were a Gym-bro.
Piper's the first to speak. "Hello."
"What's up?" Hercules replies.
"Uh, not much." Piper glances at Ara, and the girl encourages her to keep going. "Well, actually, a lot. I'm Piper. This is Jason and Ara. We—"
"Where's your lion skin?" Jason blurts out.
Piper elbows the boy. Luckily, Hercules seems to find the outburst funny. "It's ninety degrees out here. Why would I wear my lion skin? Do you wear a fur coat to the beach?"
"I guess that makes sense." Jason pouts. "It's just that the pictures always show you with a lion skin."
The god glances at the sky with annoyance. "Don't believe everything you hear about me. Being famous isn't as fun as you might think."
"Tell me about it," Piper mumbles.
"Are you famous?"
"My dad... he's in the movies."
"Don't get me started with the movies! Gods of Olympus, they never get anything right. Have you seen one movie about me where I look like me?"
"I'm surprised you're so young," Piper agrees.
"Ha! Being immortal helps. But, yes, I wasn't so old when I died. Not by modern standards. I did a lot during my years as a hero... too much, really." He eyes Jason. "Son of Zeus, eh?"
"Jupiter," Jason corrects.
"Not much difference," Hercules shrugs. "Dad's annoying in either form. Me? I was called Heracles. Then the Romans came along and named me Hercules. I didn't really change that much, though lately just thinking about it gives me splitting headaches... At any rate, if you're Jupiter's son, you might understand. It's a lot of pressure. Enough is never enough. Eventually it can make a guy snap."
He looks at Piper. "As for you, my dear, be careful. Sons of Zeus can be... well, never mind." He locks eyes with Ara. "You're the newest Olympian sensation, aren't you?"
"Ara Jackson," she considers shaking his hand, but she doesn't want him to feel how much she's shaking.
He tilts his head. "Who was your godly parent?"
"Aphrodite."
Hercules burst out laughing, making Ara want to punch his nose. "Has the quality of heroes decreased, or are Aphrodites more sturdy than in ancient times?"
"We've always been sturdy," she scoffs.
"So the quality decreased," he muses. "That sucks."
"You su—"
"Lord Hercules," Piper intervenes. "We're on a quest. We'd like permission to pass into the Mediterranean."
Hercules turns to her, still chuckling. "That's why I'm here. After I died, Dad made me the doorkeeper of Olympus. I said, Great! Palace duty! Party all the time! What he didn't mention is that I'd be guarding the doors to the ancient lands, stuck on this island for the rest of eternity. Lots of fun."
He points at the pillars.
"Stupid columns. Some people claim I created the whole Strait of Gibraltar by shoving mountains apart. Some people say the mountains are the pillars. What a bunch of Augean manure. The pillars are pillars."
"Right," Piper replies. "Naturally. So... can we pass?"
"Well, I have to give you the standard warning about how dangerous the ancient lands are. Not just any demigod can survive the Mare Nostrum. Because of that, I have to give you a quest to complete. Prove your worth, blah, blah, blah. Honestly, I don't make a big deal of it. Usually I give demigods something simple like a shopping trip, singing a funny song, that sort of thing. After all those labors I had to complete for my evil cousin Eurystheus, well... I don't want to be that guy, you know?"
"Appreciate it," Jason nods.
"Hey, no problem," Hercules continues, eyeing Ara. "But I kind of want to see the little one in action."
"Call me little again, and I'll use you as the demonstration dummy," she says dryly.
The young god snorts. "So what's your quest?"
"Giants," Jason explains. "We're off to Greece to stop them from awakening Gaea."
"Giants. I hate those guys. Back when I was a demigod hero... ah, but never mind. So which god put you up to this—Dad? Athena? Maybe Aphrodite?" He glances at Piper with a sly smile. "As pretty as you are, I'm guessing that's your mom too."
Ara senses the danger, but Jason thinks she's about to snap and acts faster. "Hera sent us. She brought us together to—"
"Hera."
The air around Hercules changes, and Piper tries to fix it. "We hate her too. We didn't want to help her. She didn't give us much choice, but—"
"But here you are," Hercules glares at them. "Sorry, you three. I don't care how worthy your quest is. I don't do anything that Hera wants. Ever."
"But I thought you made up with her when you became a god," Jason frowns.
"Like I said, don't believe everything you hear. If you want to pass into the Mediterranean, I'm afraid I've got to give you an extra-hard quest."
"Man, c'mon!" Ara complains. "You know I'm forced to follow orders!"
"And yet you wear that mantle with pride."
"But we're like brothers," Jason insists. "Hera's messed with my life, too. I understand—"
"You understand nothing. My first family: dead. My life wasted on ridiculous quests. My second wife dead, after being tricked into poisoning me and leaving me to a painful demise. And my compensation? I got to become a minor god. Immortal, so I can never forget my pain. Stuck here as a gatekeeper, a doorman, a... a butler for the Olympians. No, you don't understand. The only god who understands me even a little bit is Dionysus. And at least he invented something useful. I have nothing to show except bad film adaptations of my life."
"That's horribly sad, Lord Hercules. But please go easy on us. We're not bad people," Piper uses her charmspeak, but it's hard to sweet-talk a god.
Hercules's eyes harden. "On the opposite side of this island, over those hills, you'll find a river. In the middle of that river lives the old god Achelous."
"...and?" Jason frowns.
"And I want you to break off his other horn and bring it to me."
"He has horns," Jason pauses. "Wait... his other horn? What—?"
"Figure it out! Here, this should help." Hercules tosses a tiny book at Piper. "Bring me that horn by sundown. Just the two of you. No contacting your friends. Your ship will remain where it is. If you succeed, you may pass into the Mediterranean."
"And if we don't succeed?" Piper scowls.
"Well, Achelous will kill you, obviously. And I will break your ship in half with my bare hands and send your friends to an early grave."
"Touch my ship," Ara warns him, "and I'll stick my sword up your—"
"Couldn't we just sing a funny song?" Jason pleads.
"I'd get going," Hercules says with disinterest. "Sundown. Or your friends are dead. And you," he summons a chair for Ara. "We should talk."
Ara shouts a lot of insults that make Piper and Jason look back in alarm as they walk away, but either Hercules finds her amusing, or he's not allowed to hurt a child of Olympus, because he lets her yell until she tires out.
He makes two drinks appear. "Grape. Non-alcoholic for the crybaby."
Ara scowls at the glass. "I'm not a baby."
Hercules sets his club next to her. Ara's barely a head taller than the weapon. "You sure?"
She kicks the club and snatches the grape juice. "I knew you were a jerk, but I didn't know you were petty too."
"Children of Olympus are all petty," he sits down. "Blend too much free time and excessive egos, and you get one of us. We're provoked easily, and we have a talent to incite."
Ara looks back at the ship. Someone's on deck staring in their direction, probably Leo. She's stuck here with Mr Simpathy, so why not employ the time for something useful?
"What being a son of Olympus entails..."
"Do you know what it entails?" He interrupts her.
"Well... I serve the gods."
"Until you die," he pauses. "Although they could promote you to some other thing if they like you. But basically, your life is theirs."
She shrugs. "I don't mind being put to use."
"Because you don't understand what it means," he drinks his wine. "This isn't a reward, kid. You're a threat to all mortals."
"That was before," she argues. "I'm not like you."
Hercules raises a brow. "Then why do you hold that sword? And wear my cloak?"
"I fought a war, and been to dangerous places, all just to keep my loved ones safe. I am not you."
Hercules rolls his eyes. "You pledged your life to Olympus, and you did it for one reason only—You're starving," His words resonate within her unpleasantly. "Have you done something about that hunger, or has it done nothing but grow?"
Ara replies quietly, avoiding his eyes. "I don't know..."
"How long have you been a daughter of Olympus?"
"A year."
Hercules frowns. "How old are you?"
Ara keeps her eyes down. "I'll be fifteen in a few days."
"You're younger than Achilles and I when we were chosen..." his voice sounds different now. "Why?"
"Why what?"
"Why did you turn into this?"
She clears her throat. "I got tired of burning shrouds. If the gods won't help us, then I will."
Hercules's demeanor changes, he looks pitiful. "We don't help people."
"Maybe you didn't, but I will."
"We're killers. That's what the gods will ask of you, to take out the trash so their home is clean. We'll never be role models."
"I don't want praise," she replies defiantly.
"You say that now," Hercules shrugs. "Get a couple more blessings and see if the treatment doesn't start to feel a little unjust."
"I might die soon, so it doesn't matter," she says bitterly. "Might as well do something good with the time I have left."
He tilts his head with interest, like he's listening to something Ara can't. "Ah... yes, I see it," He smiles and looks to the horizon. "I know the story—Oenone swore Paris would regret leaving her. He'd never get his ideal life with his ideal woman. The nymph then killed herself out of guilt, as the unstable creature she always was."
The girl doesn't even bother to ask how he knows all this, she assumes gods have their ways to poke around a mortal's business. "Well, according to Aphrodite, this life will be no different if I don't do something."
"That's wishful thinking."
"The fates chose us to be part of this prophecy—Two souls in the right place, and right time."
The god shrugs again. "How do you break a centuries-old curse?"
"I don't know. Might be tied to the Mark of Athena—"
Hercules snorts. "You're not a child of Athena, so I doubt it."
"Janus said one of my paths was threading in that direction."
"It can't be the Mark of Athena," he brushes it off.
"Then what is it?" She asks with irritation.
Hercules makes a face. "Do I look like an oracle? I don't know. The price you'll pay has to be high, equal to the value of your curse. They won't set you free otherwise."
"There is no real freedom in a world ruled by prophecies," she scowls.
Hercules can't hide his amusement. "You're so intense. All children of Olympus die by their doing, you know? Honor, power... what's your poison?"
"That's it, I'm going back to my ship now, this is useless!" Ara stands up from her chair. "You won't treat my work as a worthless effort."
"You are fourteen," he corrects her calmly. "No one's saying you're worthless, you're a kid."
Ara blinks. "What?"
He finishes his wine and tosses the goblet over his shoulder. "You're drowning, and what for? You're a child that acts like a child and you tricked yourself into thinking that's wrong. Your ambition, little dove, it's eating your youth away."
Ara stares at him. She likes being young... or she did before Percy brought all these grown-up situations, and she had to catch up with him so he didn't leave her behind. Her brother was her entire world for a long, long time, and at some point, they grew apart, just like she'd always feared. Ara's solution was to force her way into the spotlight so she wouldn't be ignored ever again.
"Let's see, you have..." Hercules examines the embroidery on her cloak. "Six blessings? You're burning out faster than Achilles and I ever did."
Ara's too angry and confused to process what's been said to her, but Hercules keeps going.
"You know why the gods don't give all the blessings? Above ten would be a VIP pass to things a human can't handle," Hercules sighs. "You won't be here for long, and they've always liked playing safe."
He says it like Ara is the most recent doll in the market, and soon she'll go out of fashion and the gods will forget she was even there, just like Helen.
"Any advice?" She asks.
"Yeah," he leans back on his seat. "Watch your mouth. You're young, and there are forces out there that won't hesitate to put you in your place. Teach yourself to be scarier with no symbols of power that announce it to your enemies. And one more thing..."
He looks back at the ship, Ara turns and spots Leo leaning on the railing. When she looks at him, he waves effusively and blows a kiss in her direction.
"Achilles stepped into this role and lost Patroclus," Hercules says absently. "I lost my mind... you will lose, Ara Jackson, and that will be the beginning of the end. The path you chose is nothing but sad and lonely."
"It was bound to be that way no matter what," her voice quivers.
Hercules glances at Leo again. "Yes... you better get used to it. That boy can start over if he survives, you cannot."
Ara nods and adds weakly. "Is it better than being mortal, being a god?"
He responds thoughtfully. "Being a god is... slow-paced. Nothing new happens, nothing old ever comes back. If you interact with mortals, you forget their faces as soon as they leave—if an immortal reaches out, it's meaningless."
"By that, you mean..?"
"Immortals, they don't even look at you. Might as well be hallucinating those meetings."
"Cool," Ara replies dryly. "Well, uh... I have nothing else to say."
Hercules laughs. "I could talk you to death... I'd never known a demigod like you, let alone a daughter of Aphrodite," he looks at the small figures approaching. "But your friends are back."
Ara approaches them anxiously. "Gods almighty—You okay?"
"All good," Jason nods.
"Good," Hercules hums. "You got it. In that case, you are free to go."
"You heard him. He gave us permission," Piper nudges Jason's arm. "That means our ship will be able to pass into the Mediterranean?"
"Yes, yes. Now, the horn," the god demands impatiently.
"No."
"Excuse me?"
"Achelous was right," Piper lifts the horn as if it were a bazooka. "You're his curse as much as he is yours. You're a sorry excuse for a hero."
Ara and Hercules share a look as if saying. "Are we hearing that right?"
"You realize I could kill you with a flick of my finger," he raises a brow. "I could throw my club at your ship and cut straight through its hull. I could—"
"You could shut up," Jason continues. "Maybe Zeus is different from Jupiter. Because I wouldn't put up with any brother who acts like you."
Hercules's face gets purple with anger. "You would not be the first demigod I've killed."
"Woah!" Ara steps in. "Let's not throw death threats around, okay?" She turns to Piper and mouths 'What the hell?' but her sister ignores her.
"Jason is better than you. But don't worry. We're not going to fight you. We're going to leave this island with the horn. You don't deserve it as a prize. I'm going to keep it, to remind me of what not to be like as a demigod, and to remind me of poor Achelous and Deianira."
"Do not mention that name!" Hercules snaps. "You can't seriously think I'm worried about your puny boyfriend. No one is stronger than me."
"I didn't say stronger, I said he's better."
Piper lifts the horn a little higher, and from it bursts out a wide variety of fresh food and baked sweets—a whole godly feast. Piper pulls Ara away from the mountain of edibles. "Go!"
Jason seizes them, flying back to the Argo II.
"Kill!" Hercules screams in anger, crawling out from under the food.
Everyone seems to know what's happening except Ara. Leo flies the ship away without asking questions, and Percy summons a huge tide to keep Hercules from throwing coconuts at them.
