Can I please request Husband!Spider noir, honestly anything will be good
Yes of course! He was my favorite Spider-Man in the first movie.
Pairing: Spider-Man Noir x Reader
Tags: fluff, established relationship, detective work, injuries, overworking, kissing, ice cold to sunshine
A/N: I would watch a movie just about him honestly, even it's only told in his inner monologue.
Tumblr media
Husband!Noir who always has a picture of you on his office desk. He wants to look at you while he works, he wants to be reminded that he's doing dangerous work not only for the safety or the city but also for you. There's also some slight bragging rights that he affords himself when clients ask if he's single, no he is not, he is married to the most beautiful person in the entire city.
Husband!Noir who kisses you goodbye every morning before he goes to work, right as he takes the lunch you made for him. When he comes home he always tells you what he liked most about the food you made him that day, often resulting in him rambling about it for quite some time as you smile about his detective brain taking over even this.
Husband!Noir who doesn't like to involve you in a lot of his detective work because of how dangerous it can be but sometimes he lets you scout out an area if it's not too dangerous. Keeps close tabs on you as you do so, won't take his watchful eyes off you for even a moment and jumps in when his spidey senses go off.
Husband!Noir who would hide how tired he was when he would get home from a night of patrol and tell you that he had some extra paperwork to do. Paperwork doesn't get him these bruises on his face, unless he was frustrated he punched himself. For a detective and a superhero he can be a very, very bad liar.
Husband!Noir who tries to tell you that his injuries, the danger, the risk is all part of his job. Both of them. He never wants you to worry about him, its his job to worry about you and make your safety his priority. The way you tend to his injuries, slowly rubbing them down with alcohol and cleaning them despite him hissing and wiggling at every turn, combined with the sad way you look at him makes him feel like he's not doing good enough of a job. If he was better he wouldn't have gotten hurt and you wouldn't have to worry.
Husband!Noir who reads his newspaper every morning while he cuddles with you. Injured or not it doesn't matter as long as he gets to spend some more time with you. Even if you are a bit angry at him for downplaying his injuries you can't deny that you want to be close to him, to comfort him that all his efforts are good enough for you.
Husband!Noir who can go from ice cold with clients and suspects to a charming husband if you happen to step into his after they had left. He always welcomes you with a kiss on your hand like the gentleman he is, or tries to be. He needs to keep his calm and collected self around other people but around you he can afford to relax and let himself be cared for and kissed like he secretly wants to be.
Husband!Noir who goes to every party with you no matter how big or small. He won't ever miss out on a chance to give you a nice night out and dance a few dances, drink a few drinks. And yes, occasionally have to intimidate a few people to back down on their flirting or tell them that he himself is already taken.
Husband!Noir who always leaves things in a certain place around the house and knows you hide them from him to test his detective skills. He will only indulge you if you promise to pay him well. He takes payments in the form of kissing, cuddles, a good meal or certain bedroom activities. These forms of payment apply only to you.

The Job Offer
"And why not you?", said the man. "You're intelligent, skilled, and adaptable. Most importantly, you're entertaining. That last part becomes very important when dealing with my kind".
A ring glinted in the dim light as he gestured with his hands. "Plus, there wouldn't be any danger in the first place! Our lot tend to stick to the Rules, you see? And not harming the messenger is most certainly a Rule".
A sip of coffee. Eyes filling with mirth.
"In the off chance that someone did take offence, all you have to do is amuse them for a while, and as I said, you're very good at that. But don't worry, they won't take offence".
Dick Grayson, attention still half focused on the vicious black claws on the man's hand, had to ask, "And why won't they?"
The man's pleasant smile didn't falter. But it did slowly morph into a grin with way too many teeth to be normal. The young vigilante had to suppress a shudder.
When the man?it spoke, the voice resonated. "Because you'll be one of mine. And they won't dare touch what's mine".
The teeth gleamed.
And just as abruptly as it shifted, the air changed, the pressure lifted, and the man was smiling once more.
Dick was left off-footed and tightly clutching the arms of his chair, his breath fogging in the still frigid air. He hadn’t even noticed the temperature dropping.
He looked at the man nonchalantly sitting across from him as if he hadn't just taken years off of Dick's life. The vigilante was not one to scare easily. Yet, mere moments ago, Dick had felt a fear so primal that it was maddening. It was not the kind of fear a human being could evoke, no matter how frightening their actions may be. Dick had seen the worst of Gotham, and Gotham was a cesspit on a good day. But he hadn't ever felt like this before today. If there was ever a question about the humanity of his companion before...well it was answered now.
To be honest, he couldn't quite recall how he got here in the first place. Everything was a blur.
No...not quite. His memories were alright, it's just that his mind couldn’t grasp them.
And every second in this...space, had felt muted. As though he was lying beneath several layers of sheer fabric; he could somewhat feel things, see things, but his senses were muffled.
The spike of fear from before wasn't him breaking through as much as he was allowed to break through, and now he was safely back beneath the dampening cloud once more. It was almost comforting.
Dangerous.
Dick only remembered what had happened in bits and pieces. Being fired from Robin, the legacy he had forged for himself, named after his mother's love, and garbed in Grayson colours.
Being angry and distraught. Not knowing what to do.
It had taken him weeks to reorient himself. A month to gather his composure.
He vaguely recollected a cafe in Jump City. He had been sitting in a booth, contemplating his options...
Someone had sat right across from him, right?
He had looked up…
“Hello. May I sit here?”
“...Sure. Go ahead.”
“Daniel Nightingale.”
“...Richard Grayson.”
" I know. You shouldn’t give out your name so freely by the way. Also, could I have a bit of your time?"
"Um...yeah, sure?"
“Perfect!”
And the next thing he knew, he was Here.
Wherever here was.
(Why had he said yes then? He would never have done that normally.)
At first his mind had been adamant in believing that here was the very same cafe he had been sitting in. But Dick wasn't trained by the man known as the World's Greatest Detective for nothing. However, it had taken him an embarrassing few moments to start noticing the abnormalities.
For one thing, he had been sitting in a booth in a cafe, not at an ornate wooden table, much like the one in Bruce's home office. The only thing the cafe table and this one had in common was that they were both rectangular.
Secondly, their table was covered by a veil. A huge gauzy one hanging from above. But try as he might he couldn't see where it was hanging from, just a yawning darkness.
Finally, he could see shadows moving beyond the veil, and the more he looked, the more bizarre they became. And at one point, the shadows lost all pretence of humanity. They weren't even humanoid, let alone human.
He definitely wasn't in Jump City anymore.
It had taken him even longer to notice the man sitting across him. That he hadn’t left this Daniel Nightingale behind.
Wispy white hair.
"Ah! You noticed so quickly. You really are the perfect fit for the job!"
Green. green eyes.
"Apologies for the veiling. It's necessary however.., some things are not just meant for mortal eyes, you see. Without it, you might just go insane! We wouldn't want that now would we?"
Unnaturally pale skin.
"Enough dillydallying! But first, introductions. You may call me either Daniel or Nightingale. By what name would you prefer to be called?”
Something about that question made the ex-Robin’s hindbrain pay attention. The wording of it, the tone…
You shouldn’t give out your name so freely by the way.
Could I have a bit of your time?
Something had felt incredibly off, so he had gone ahead and given one of the alternate names he had been thinking of taking up now that Robin was over.
“You may call me Nightjar.”
Nightingale had looked incredibly pleased then. And a bit smug too.
“Let me cut to the chase then Nightjar. I’m here to offer you a job. You’re a perfect fit for the role. We offer excellent compensation, and flexible work hours. Considering you’re out of work now that you’ve been fired from Robin, I believe my offer would be interesting for you.”
For some reason, perhaps because of all the strange things that happened, the fact that Nightingale seemed to know his alter ego hadn’t surprised Dick. Instead of asking how he came to know about this particular information, including the fact that he got fired, he decided to keep the conversation rolling on this supposed job offer. He had an inkling that he won’t get anywhere even if he asked, so might as well mine some information by making the other man talk.
“What kind of job is it? And what exactly would be included in the compensation?”
In response the man had snapped his fingers, and produced a file out of nowhere. He opened it, turned it around and slid it across the table. Dick started. Nightingale made a go ahead gesture, a smile on his lips once more. Dick gingerly dragged it a bit closer, and took a look.
“As you can see Nightjar, the position being offered is that of a courier. Due to many reasons, delivery across the realms is a cumbersome affair, not the least due to political complications. The best system to lay down in this situation was to have an impartial party be in charge of the work. You can say that I am a representative of the aforementioned impartial party that took over the role. If you would turn a page over-
Dick had dutifully turned the page.
-you’d see that we offer great compensation. In addition to your salary, you’ll receive health insurance, life insurance, death insurance, medical insurance, dental, vision care insurance, paid vacation time, overtime pay, paid time-off, flexible time-off, paid medical leave, free medical care, maternity leave, paternity leave, all other forms of parental leave, a good retirement package, loan assistance, wellness programmes, child care assistance, regular bonuses, promotions, raises, accommodation, a provident fund, and a whole host of other benefits that are clearly listed on the page. And of course at the end right there is our offered starting salary, which is highly negotiable up to the amount listed right below it. Please take as much time as you need to read through them.”
To say Dick had been overwhelmed was an understatement. He hadn’t thought that this was going to be an actual, honest to God job offer. If anything he just thought the entire job thing was an excuse or prelude to something much worse. But as he parsed through the file, getting increasingly bewildered as the man rattled on, he had to admit that this really looked like a weird recruitment effort. And then his eyes had fallen on the salary figure, and the amount to which it could be negotiated upwards, and he froze. Because even for the ex-ward of a billionaire, it was a ludicrous number. He couldn’t even accurately count the zeros on the thing. Even Wayne Enterprises wouldn't be able to match a deal like this.
At that thought Dick had felt a pang of pain as he remembered Bruce still hadn’t called him, or even made an attempt at apologising. There were no texts, no missives. Just radio silence. The pain in his chest increased and Dick had felt the ever returning feeling of being unmoored. He pushed those feelings to the furthest corners of his mind. He had to focus now.
Feeling marginally calmer, he had taken a deep breath and closed the file. He looked up at Nightingale who had been watching him avidly over the rim of a coffee cup which definitely wasn’t there before, and asked the most pertinent question.
“Why me?”
And now they are here.
Dick scoffed at the white haired being’s answer. Oh he didn’t doubt that it was the truth. By now he had somehow come to an understanding of how this worked. It was fae rules. Meaning he had to watch his mouth. Similarly Nightingale won’t lie, but he can certainly obfuscate. After all withholding information wasn’t technically a lie, especially if it was masked with a half-truth. In other words, Nightingale hadn’t lied, but that wasn’t all there is to it. And Dick wasn’t going to let it slide.
“How am I supposed to believe you to be a good employer if you’re already lying?”, he asked outright. You know, like a reckless fool.
Nightingale’s pleasant smile instantly froze, and then it gained an edge. A sharp, lethal edge.
“I don’t lie”, the man said, a cold cadence to his voice.
Dick could feel the figurative whetted blade on his throat, but he pressed forward. This was the first time he had taken blood in this fiasco and he wasn’t going to concede just like that.
“Lying by omission, is still lying.”
Nightingale’s entire mien darkened, and frost spread across the table. Dick didn’t back off.
There was silence. Suffocating silence. And then the vergals receded and Nightingale sat back with a satisfied air. Dick blinked in surprise.
“Good. You didn’t cower.”
Dick sat back on his own chair, his breath fogging in the still cold air. “Was that a test?”
Nightingale took another sip of his coffee. Was it even coffee? It looked like coffee, but who knows what anything is in this bizarre space. Certainly not Dick.
“It was a test. The position of a courier in this part of existence requires mettle, and a strong mind. You would be dealing with beings ranging from the divine to the demonic. I’m sure you know they are a stubborn lot. You’ll have to stand up to them often. Plus you would be representing Us. We can’t have an unprincipled, craven fool take the job can we now? So I had to test you. Congratulations! You passed with flying colours.”
Dick glared at the man. “I still haven’t agreed to anything. And you still haven’t told me why I was chosen.”
Nightingale chuckled. It was an unnatural, but pleasant sound. “Aah you caught that. Very well then.”
He clasped his hands together and put them on the table, bringing Dick’s attention to the black, razor sharp claws once again, as well as to the extremely ominous ring he wore on his left hand’s little finger.
“You were chosen because you are a multiversal constant. This job requires much interdimensional, interuniversal travel, and a multiversal constant is ideal for the role. And before you ask, a multiversal constant is essentially someone whose soul acts as a consistent axis across worlds through indelible aspects of their existence. They are rare, and their axial quality makes multiversal travel easy for them.”
The white haired entity’s eyes shone in the dim light. “You are a multiversal constant Nightjar. Centred around your potential, And also, I know you will agree to do the job. So I’m not worried.”
Even as he struggled to process what was just revealed, Dick found the energy to scowl at the impishly grinning man. “And how would you know? What’s in it for me? All I’m seeing is a job, the benefits of which, doesn’t make up for how dangerous it is.”
“But you will accept it nonetheless”, replied Nightingale with an amused air. “Think about it. You’ve been fired from Robin but still intend to continue being a vigilante, and vigilantism is expensive work. Now that you don’t have the Wayne coffers to pull from, you would have to find alternate means to acquire resources. You’re brilliant and I have no doubt you will find those resources and do spectacularly under your new mantle. But that would take time. And calling in favours that could either be used somewhere else, or make you indebted to someone. The salary this job provides you will allow you to finance your quest for justice, and still have plenty leftover. Not to mention the other benefits, such as the free medical care provided by Us, people who will never question your injuries the way a normal hospital might, or put your civilian identity at risk like a back alley doctor.”
Nightingale’s verdant eyes stared a hole through Dick as he spoke. “You wanted to get out of Batman’s shadow. This is your chance, Nightjar.”
The young vigilante had to give it to Nightingale. The man sure knew how to pitch an offer. He found himself agreeing to most of what Nightingale said, especially the finances part but he still wasn’t going to agree to a job that would put him in the crosshairs of gods and demons. That was just monumentally stupid.
“You make good points”, Dick said as he slid the file sitting idle on his side to Nightingale. “But I’m still not gonna agree.”
Nightingale slid the file back over to him without missing a bit.
“If I thought you were the type to easily capitulate I wouldn’t have approached you in the first place,” the man said, not a single sign of ire at Dick’s repeated refusal in his voice. In fact he seemed rather glad Dick was being difficult.
“You want to know more about being a multiversal constant correct? That is not the kind of information you’ll find lying around on earth.”
A pitch black claw scraped across the table, but there was no noise, and the deep scratch left behind instantly stitched itself back together, the tabletop pristine once more.
“By now you must have a rudimentary idea of the world you are being invited into. You would not have called yourself Nightjar otherwise. You also know that this is not a world Batman has access to.”
The man pointed opened his right palm, still resting on the table, and brilliant emerald fire blazed to life on it. Something in Dick’s lizard brain told him this fire ran cold rather than hot.
“Magic and everything associated with it is not something the Dark Knight can handle by his usual methods. And magic is just one of the aspects of our Realm. An infinite more mysteries keep it company. This world is yours for the taking. No mortal would be able to access what you can and you would be able to help so many people.”
Blue eyes met green.
“This will set you apart from Batman once and for all. An identity that no one can take away from you at their whim. Just think of this as your day job, as being a CEO is for Bruce Wayne.”
Nightingale clasped one of Dick’s hands resting on the table and transferred the fire over to it. Dick stared as the flame danced merrily in his palm. It really was cold. By the time he had his wits about him, the fire had vanished. Nightingale had seemingly finished his coffee, as the cup was nowhere to be seen.
Dick glanced at the white haired man who watched him calmly. Then he took the file and started reading through it. If he was going to take this job, he was going to make sure to read the fine print. Out of the corner of his eye, he could spy Nightingale’s gleaming, triumphant smile. Dick couldn’t help but feel annoyed.
He didn’t know how much time it took for him to read the file completely. Time ran strangely in this space. What he did know was there was an ornate, silver pen right next to him, which definitely wasn’t there before. He had to roll his eyes at Nightingale's antics.
Nonetheless he uncapped it, admiring the craftsmanship for a moment, and signed on the dotted line in his Alfred approved best cursive, bells, whistles, hoops and all.
Nothing happened. Dick felt kinda disappointed. He had thought signing a magical contract with a possible fae creature would be a little less anti-climactic. Across from him, Nightingale chuckled as if he could read his mind. Could he?
He slid the file over once more, this time for last. Nightintingale just skimmed through before sliding over an envelope.
“Your appointment letter”.
“You had that ready?”
“Of course.”
Dick snorted inelegantly at that. Obviously the man had foreseen how this would go. That should make him more wary than what he was feeling, but just as he had known the fire was cold before, he knew Nightingale wouldn’t harm him. Bruce would call him an idiot for this kind of illogical thinking, but Bruce wasn’t here now was he?
He was about to shove another medley of complicated emotions down, when Nightingale reached over and viciously ran a claw down his right arm. Blood spurted in a gruesome display and Dick scrambled back, chair falling down, and his body hitting the surprisingly sturdy veil.
“What was that about?”, he shouted as he clutched his bleeding arm to his chest. Just when he had thought the man didn’t mean him any harm…
Nightingale had the audacity to look nonplussed. He simply brought his palms up as if to show he meant no harm, but it was a moot point when one of his claws was dripping with Dick’s blood.
“Just testing something”, the man said calmly.
“Testing what?’, Dick asked angry and confused.
In response, Nightingale simply pointed to his arm.
“What? Testing whether your claws could tear me apar-”
He stopped short. There, before his eyes, the flesh of his arm was knitting itself together. In mere moments, the wound was gone, not even a scar where it should be. Dick was reminded of the table from before. What just happened?
“What did you do to me?”, he asked, voice soft, and emotionless.
“Don’t worry. It's your compensation. Part of your medical aid.”
He waved his hand, and the blood vanished. “Do sit down, Nightjar. Lets order something to eat.”
Robotically Dick walked to the table once more. The upturned chair was somehow rightened, already pulled out as if waiting for him.
“That was a healing factor”, he said rather than asked.
Nightingale nodded unbothered. “Yes, you’ll be needing that in your line of work.”
The veil opened and admitted a two-headed woman in, carrying trays of food in her four arms.
When she left, Nightingale eagerly took up his cutlery, looking excitedly at what looked like a luminescent crepe. He glanced at a shell-shocked Dick and frowned.
“Please eat. It's safe to consume, now that you’re one of us. If you’re worrying about your job, don’t. You have been assigned an excellent mentor in Harker. The White Grim will train you well.”
With that, he dug in, clearly enjoying his glowing crepe.
Dick just stared at the man, at his no longer injured arm, and sighed. Might as well eat. He hadn’t gotten to eat anything at the cafe and was beginning to feel hungry.
He scooped a spoonful from what seemed like an overly fancy bowl of cereal.
One of them huh?
He took a bite.

aventio detective au?
I MIGHT toss superpowers into this like how bsd does because I was rewatching season 1 through edits and then I realized that there is SO much potential for aventio as detective partners. Now, before you scroll, hear me out- I'm not going to copy from bsd, I'm definitely going to be taking my own spin on this, because what kind of author would I be if I didn't? Anyway, let's get down into my actual idea so that I'm not just rambling about the random details.
Detective partners Aventio - Dr. Ratio, who does logistics and banks on his knowledge, and Aventurine, who relies on his gut and good luck to find the heart of cases. Aventurine, who goes out to bars and talks to people, manipulating and scheming his way into getting information, an invaluable member of this agency that is amazing at what he does, yet annoys the shit out of Ratio.
Dr. Ratio, yes, a doctor, still in this au - who hopes to give criminals knowledge by capturing them and then speaking to them, set them straight with new ideas and philosophy. Dr. Ratio, a detective, and yet still a helper of the common people, getting through the nitty and gritty in order to bring new light to people who thought they would only have to steal and kill to survive. Dr. Ratio, who does not only believe in justice, but believes in helping others, and who has to sit down after his words cannot reach yet another 'mediocre' mind with a drink. This job is a hard one. Going out and speaking to people and picking up on details and helping the survivors who had to witness the horrors of situations is never going to be easy, but he is nothing if not a persevering man.
Aventurine, who grew up abused and taken advantage of in the slums of the city, who grew up being the crime that he now gets rid of - knowing that these people, sometimes, are just what they have to be, and yet, he does his job in hopes that maybe, his companion, who saw the hope in him, can set alight hope for others. Aventurine, who pushes through his bad habits and holds children who suffer in the aftermath, seeing a reflection of himself from the past. Aventurine, who vows to save the people - saving them, so that maybe, the child inside him can be salvaged as well.
Also, lots of drinking together and smoking. This is a fucking hard job, but they have one another, and they go out onto the field and stop stupid shit from happennig. They banter, they have childhood trauma, they kiss while being idiots, their coworkers help them stop cases, and maybe, MAYBE, I will give them superpowers.

(Hey Blue, I had more art planned but unfortunately many things came up. But I hope you enjoy this anyways! I might draw some more for you later ^-^ Thanks so much for this prompt <3 <3)
Edit: I have decided that now you will receive a completed arts + ramblings + some WIPs behind the scene hahahaha https://www.tumblr.com/cyndraws/737208478471487488/kaishin-secret-santa-2023-extras-basically-wips?source=share
AU ramblings under the cut (ngl it's a lot):
Random details and notes that don't really fit anywhere. Mostly about the fanart:
Kaito is 1 year older than Shin and is taller than him
This scene is set over the Haido City hotel. In the distance you can see Shiriyomi Trust Hotel (can't full recognise it behind Kaito but I assure you I drew it lol), Tokyo tower (easy to spot) and Roppongi Hills Mori Tower (Just behind Shin on the right, the one with the lights in a --u-- shape) Main reference: https://www.detectiveconanworld.com/wiki/Haido_City_Hotel
I was also screaming at the Kaishin pic in ED70 throughout this LMAO.
Kaito breaks through Shinichi's mysterious KID persona in this drawing and Shinichi shyly reveals his face behind the mask. Kaito then produces a blue flower, claiming it matches Shinichi's beautiful eyes (he's also the one who bred it)
Kaito has extra pockets sewn into his uniform to carry more tricks. This wasn't really necessary in canon, but here, Kaito has to be prepared to investigate at any moment.
Lmao help me render hair *stares at Kaito's* Cool effect but not quite right. I need to go experiment later.
Kaito/Shin getting shrunk (aka Conan situation) never happens in this au. But Haibara and the other victims are still around. Haibara still lives at the professor's.
~
Background:
Yusaku was much more entangled and involved with Toichi and his fight with the Black Org. Side note but in this au, Snake is from a division of the Black Org
As a result, they both end up being killed during the fateful accident. Yes, both Shinichi and Kaito are there for it. They were going to be introduced to each other on that day, but well,,, we can see the way it ended.
It wasn't well known that the Kuroba and Kudo family were close at all. Extra vigilance was taken after the funerals to ensure their safety. Their families parted ways for the better or worse after thsi event.
Yusaku's and Toichi's friendship/rivalry included collaborating for some heists, having a second secret base in the Kudo mansion, and Yusaku donning the Night Baron costume... even if he was just hidden in a car and sending information to Toichi via an earpiece lol.
After their husbands' deaths, Yukiko and Chikage meet up occasionally and travel together in secret.
~
Shinichi:
Shinichi never became a famous detective. The years after Yusaku died in the tragic accident, Yukiko and him tried their best to move on with varying success. Shinichi's dream to become a famous detective never came to fruition.
This was because for various reasons including not having Yusaku's guiding hand to develop Shin's detective skills, was only being taken to crime scenes for a year, and of course the trauma.
After avoiding detective work as much as he could (well considering that he's still a corpse magnet), Shinichi finally starts to dig through his memories. From then, he uncovered a strange inconsistency with the logic of his father's death and starts to obsess over the idea that it was a murder.
Shin painstakingly and slowly investigates in the shadows with his *ehem* admittedly rusty detective skills and chases after the very little crumbs left by the organisation. What he uncovers is that the accident wasn't one at all, but premeditated murder by an encompassing third party.
Shinichi finally finds a lead to,,, Jii Konosuke. This takes quite a few years, and Shinichi is 15 when he confronts Jii.
Jii reveals everything after Shinichi's deduction and also mistaking him for Kaito. And such Shinichi is brought into the fold. Shinichi also makes up his mind to take on the KID mantle, greatly sympathising with the fellow teen whose father was also involved.
The years after Shinichi uncovers the truth, he learns many skills such as disguise, acting and magic from Jii and Chikage. However, his magic skills will never be on par with Kaito's.
Shinichi in this au has more acting and disguise skills from living with his mother. She passed this skills onto him, and they bonded over it to recover from their grief.
When Shinichi is 17, he officially takes on the role of KID. Chikage permanently locked the KID cave in the Kuroba house, and the KID cave settled in its new home in the Kudo mansion. Inside the second base previously used by Toichi and Yusaku.
Shinichi as KID:
Well, he's just as dramatic as Kaito in canon, but it's a different kind of dramatic. Shin is more of a mysterious and cryptic phantom thief and wears a menacing Night Baron mask. He overall speaks less, and when he does, he says a lot of dramatic lines. Like in theatre almost, with plenty of double meanings.
He takes on a lot of aspects from the Phantom Lady and Jii's interpretation of KID.
And also, I was inspired by the Black Knight, Shiragami in canon, and AngelicSentinel's fantastic fic, Heart of Eternity. I guess you could describe it as more theatrely, cool and princely. He's still very athletic (laughing at Shinichi being Tarzan as Shiragami)
Unlike Kaito, Shin's notices often involve cryptic riddles. It satisfies Shinichi's puzzle loving side and adds to his mysterious reputation.
It's funny to me how Akako's 'Demon of Light' moniker is still accurate haha
Shinichi investigates a little in the shadows and is overall a touch more hot-headed than Kaito KID
He uses a lot more gadgets to cover for his lesser magic skills. He's still learning though! A lot of them are references to Conan's and KID's in canon. Between Jii and Agasa, he gets a lot of them haha. This includes:
Mask/monocle -> voice changer, mask to cover for poker face, zoom and night vision, tracker, microphone and radio, gas mask.
Transmitter/microphone -> button stickers, bugs in general, cufflinks. In some cases, a camera but it must be asked for first. Shin uses these to cover for Kaito's doves in canon.
Wristwatch -> Clock of course for his heist times, tranquilliser, emergency flashbomb (KID has one in canon too)
Shoes -> jet powered rollerskates (equivalent to skateboard). Of course, Shin still kicks things but it looks more to take down the occasional criminal, trigger emergency traps, and more. He doesn't kick often because it doesn't really suit the image of KID + it's a unique skill to have.
+ other usual KID gadgets -> smoke, flash, sleeping bombs, grapple gun, hang glider, etc.
~
Kaito:
He's still an aspiring magician
Since there's a rising amount of cases in Beika, Kaito gets recommended by Nakamori because of his magic skills. The idea is that his knowledge of magic tricks will help uncover the criminals' tricks... Well this includes basically all cases lol. It works though! And the news of Meitantei Kaito starts to spread.
Kaito falls in love with the dramatics and triumphs of figuring out a criminal's trick. He starts to get called into Beika every time a case is discovered. One different to Shin is that Kai gets called to the cases instead of the cases coming to him.
His detective persona is like KID's in canon - flirty, dramatic, confident, charming, a bit of a pervert, and a classic showman's personality. Aoko is sick of it hahaha.
Kai's deduction show is very dramatic. He uses flashy magic tricks to reveal evidence and tricks, and uses his magic to take down criminals.
This includes his acrobatics, trusty card gun and traps he set beforehand. I like to headcanon that Kaito invented his cardgun first before integrating into KID. Kaito's cardgun includes the normal sharp cards (Kaito uses it to pin down criminals with their clothes, cut ropes, etc), tranquilliser laced cards, smoke and flash bombs. And also sleeping bombs but he uses it vary sparingly because even that toes the law a little too much... Megure is exasperated but the criminals are taken down quickly without much harm so he lets it slide
Kaito also follows in the spirit of dubious investigation. He changes his voice, uses his doves to spy on others, uses disguises (very very rarely), and is noisy overall.
Kaito and Hakuba:
Has a detective rivalry with Hakuba.
Hakuba still thinks, even in this au, that Kaito is KID. After all, Shin's profile is very similar to Kaito's. Kaito vehemently denies it but acts like a KID fan around Hakuba to annoy him. He isn't really though, citing KID's magic to be third rate, but he is still intrigued.
Hakuba offhandedly slips in wording and insinuations to Kaito's huge annoyance. You can imagine them bickering at a crime scene while Megure is just Too Used to this.
Much later on, when Kaito learns Shinichi's identity, Kaito tells Shinichi's about Hakuba's warnings. So Kaito is kinda a messenger between the two. Despite Hakuba being annoying, Kaito knows he can trust him.
~ Other character interactions:
Shinichi and Kaito:
Shinichi is still a corpse magnet. So he encounters a case, calls the police, and escapes as fast as he can after giving a witness statement. This is partly to avoid the awkwardness of meeting Megure and the police officers (he hasn't met them since his father died), as well as his new night job.
This results in the most frustrating yet amusing situation where Shin and Kaito miss meeting each other for quite a few years. Shinichi is busy hurrying off while Kaito is called to the scene and busy listening to the details.
Quick sketch I may/may not fully finish in the future:
Tumblr media
Description: Set in suburban Beika. Shinichi is at the foreground, looking at his watch and worrying about meeting Jii on time. Meanwhile, next to a police car, Megure merrily discusses case details to Kaito. Kaito is glancing over to Shinichi in curiosity while keeping an ear open. He has his hands in his pockets. Behind Megure, the scene has police tape barring entrance.
~
Kaito thinks KID is a third rate magician but can appreciate the dramatics and mysteriousness. He is Intrigued. This leads to a meeting later on. Kaito uses his connection to Nakamori.
Shinichi is of course startled by Kaito's namedrop.
... Sorry no more details/plan about their meeting. It's definitely a dramatic face off though.
Regarding Shinichi's identity reveal, I was playing around with the idea that Snake is there, threatening the two at gunpoint and sneering over the '"lovely family reunion between father and son". It would definitely spur Kaito to grill Shin for more details
~
Shinichi and Hattori:
Hattori hears about the "Meitantei of the East" and goes off to meet him and challenge him to a deduction battle. He doesn't know how to contact him, so he goes with the strat of wandering around Beika until he runs into a case. He figured that with the high rate of cases being reported, he's eventually run into Kuroba ,,, yeah hahahaha Thats his entire plan
Luckily for Hattori, his detective luck exponentially multiplies with Shin's and a scream runs out. As Shinichi is reporting the crime and tried to head off, Hattori slings an arm around his shoulders to stop him from sneaking off.
Hattori loudly greets him as Kuroba despite Shinichi's insistence that "No, I am NOT Kuroba, please get your arm off me". Insert much scepticism from Hattori.
Even after they part ways, this isn't the last they see of each other. Hattori keeps wandering around Beika while running into Shinichi. They eventually become friends huhu.
Shinichi and the Detective Boys:
The Detective Boys admire Kaito a lot. Obviously they've watched the news reports on TV. So when they see him at the park playing soccer, they glomp him HAHAH Poor Shinichi
At this point I think people mistaking Shinichi as Kaito can be a running gag. The Detective Boys keep annoying Shinichi and even attempt breaking into the 'Edo house' to see the ghosts... Shinichi is still not happy. And also, when they visit Haibara, they're basically next doors so Shinichi's never going to get them out of his life.
Despite the annoyance, he eventually becomes fond of them and takes on the big brother sort of role.
When Kaito and Shinichi get acquainted, they take the DB on outings a lot. The DB is very fond of Kaito-nii-san and Shinichi-nii-san.

Ten-ish panels to sum up Dick Grayson
@roma107 challenged me some time back: “10 Nightwing Panels That Perfectly Sum Up His Character. Your turn. Go.” It’s been hard to even get close, and in the end I couldn't quite keep it to ten panels... But, enjoy disagreeing with me all the same. 😉
Tumblr media
1. Robin vol 2 # 13 (1995)
Dick has issues with Bruce – they have had occasional problems with communication since the early 1940s – but he is loyal to a fault.
Tumblr media
2. Teen Titans vol 3 # 6 (2004)
Just about every one of DC’s heroes respects, trusts and is prepared to listen to Dick. Obviously, that's not because he's a nice guy – which he is, don't get me wrong – or because he puts in the work with relationships – which he does. That may make people like you, but it's not enough to get them to follow you into battle...
No, that's because he's smart, professional and competent. As you see here, he can also be intense and knows how to make a dramatic entrance...
Tumblr media
3. World's Finest Comics vol 1 # 200 (1971)
Dick is (often, but not always) ready with a smile and a joke. He loved being Robin as a kid, he wanted to do it forever (see, for instance, Nightwing vol 2 # 75). As Batman after Final Crisis, he smiled enough to convince Two-Face it wasn't the old Batman.
To what extent Dick jokes because he's in a good mood, he’s trying to keep his spirits up or he wants to annoy criminals enough to gaude them into sloppy mistakes – it varies between creators and Dick’s mood at the time😉
However, there have certainly been periods when Dick has not put on his best behaviour. He snaps at Alfred, he's unpleasant to close friends in the Titans, etc. I'd argue this is a sign he's not in a good place, mentally. Most of the panels of short fuse/asshole Dick Grayson you will find floating around are either from when he was leading The Outsiders (vol 3), and was struggling after the death of Donna Troy. Or from the almost five years' worth of New Teen Titans comics where his behaviour is influenced by being tortured and brainwashed by Brother Blood (New Teen Titans vol 1 # 22, August 1982, to New Teen Titans # 31, May 1987).
Tumblr media
Alternate panel: Teen Titans vol 2 # 12 (1997)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4. Battle for the Cowl # 3 (2009)
Dick is prepared to change. Whether it's about a new mantle, getting a new job to pay the bills, or moving to a new city.
Tumblr media
5. The New Teen Titans vol 2 # 6 (1985)
Dick might drop everything when somebody asks for help, and he is open to asking for help and working with teams better than Batman. But he does have his own set of control issues. He wants to have a job instead of living on Bruce’s money; he wants to know how to cook etc so he can take care of himself. You could argue it's a response to being orphaned and losing his home at a young age, and then having several episodes when he doesn't feel secure about his place with Bruce Wayne (see, for instance Robin Year One, Batman plays a lone hand in Batman vol 1 # 13, Partner to Batman in Batman vol 1 # 65)
Tumblr media
6. Action comics weekly # 613 (1988)
Dick is uncomfortable with casual relationships/sex. When he had a fling with Huntress (Nightwing/Huntress, 1988–1989), he tried to start a relationship. It took him a long time to accept that he could live with Kory after she had gone through with a marriage of state on her home planet, and he felt strange living with her because they weren't married (see NTT vol 2 #48).
Tumblr media
7. Detective Comics vol 1 # 881 (2011)
Dick is a nice guy who chooses to be kind, optimistic and to give people the benefit of a doubt – but he's still sneaky and definitely not stupid.
Tumblr media
8. Titans vol 1 # 3 (1999)
Yes, Dick jokes a lot, and he enjoys hanging out with his friends. But he's also a workaholic and holds himself to a very high standard.
Tumblr media
Alternate panel: New Teen Titans vol 1 # 29 (1983)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
9. Nightwing vol 4 # 41 (2018)
He has a tendency to self-blame - and he is also very stubborn! Presumably, the tendency to feel guilty over things outside his control is partly survivor's guilt, but also related to the very high standards he holds himself to, and the very high expectations others have on him. And, I would argue, this tendency is a reason he sometimes lets friends an family punish him without fighting back.
Tumblr media
Bonus panel: sometimes, he can admit he has a problem with self-blame. The New Titans vol 1 # 57 (1989)
Tumblr media
10. Nightwing vol 3 # 29 (2014)
He wants to be a safety net for everyone. That's a good summary of Nightwing as a character, in my opinion.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And... Nightwing vol 4 # 43 (2018)
Bonus. This one-shot is a good Nightwing story, but very unfair on Roy Harper/Arsenal. It touches on several things – how Dick is always ready to help, that he does not want to be like Batman, his tendency to blame himself...

i’m SUPER interested in gotham knights and kinda want to get it but i don’t super understand the premise, can you explain it please? For context i have the dc knowledge of an average batfam fan :D
Hi! Yes of course!
Gotham Knights is a treat for every batfamily fan in my opinion, especially if you like the batboys and Barbara. It has many fluffy cutscenes where we can see them all interact and background conversations that really give their relationships a certain depth.
As for the premise… well here’s where it gets a little tricky and also why I myself held off playing for a while.
Batman dies. It’s not exactly a spoiler because it literally happens in the very opening of the game but I think you should be aware of that, it’s definitely gonna tug at your heartstrings (yes I cried).
So throughout the game we have that kind of bittersweet story of the Batfamily taking over for Batman and protecting the city, finding audio logs from Bruce (they’re awesome. Good dad Bruce for the win.) and general world building content all over Gotham. But there’s a lot of subtle humor too! So it’s a great balance over all.
The main storyline follows some detective work and investigation with the Court of Owls (an evil organization comprised of Gotham’s elite) where the characters have to complete some linear quests to get to the bottom of things.
You can choose to play either as Jason Todd (Red Hood), Dick Grayson (Nightwing), Tim Drake (Robin) or Barbara Gordon (Batgirl) and switch between these characters whenever you feel like it. They all have their own unique set of skills so definitely watch out for that! And when you progress beyond a certain point you can even play coop and have the entire batfam run around Gotham at the same time hehe.
And one of the best things is that a lot of the suits for the characters can be customized which is really cool!
So yeah, I fully recommend this game. I love it a lot 💚💚💚

Leaving GMMTV aside, what were youre favorite shows this year so far? I'll have more free time coming up and im way behind and out of the loop, so some recs would be appriacted, wise sage. Especially for those shows that didnt get the attention they deserved in your opinion! Thanks a lot!
Top 10 BLs of 2023 So Far
Tumblr media
Our Dating Sim
(Korea) 10/10 Viki
If you haven't watched this, it's a must. I actually handed out a 10/10. I NEVER do that. It's a perfect short form KBL, an office set reunion romance featuring geeks that really suits 8 eps with no fluff and no chaff. Just comforting and yummy. I adored every aspect from the casting to the pristinely simple premise to the quietly smooth execution. Sure it’s low stakes, but that makes it high domesticity and extremely warm and gentle. This is a fuzzy blanket of a story - a cozy BL. It lives in my rewatch pile and you know what’s best about it? Every single episode is in that pile. There’s no skipping with this one, it might be good natured and calmly sweet but it’s tight and the pacing is excellent. Full review here.
Tumblr media
My School President
(Thai) 9/10 YouTube
GMMTV gave us a classic high school set Thai BL with tropes like messy boys singing their feelings that made this one Love Sick for the modern age with all the gentle sweetness and pining ache, but none of the dated damaging tropes or issues. Yes, we’ve seen it all before, but I still ADORED this. And there is a lot to be said for the classics being re-executed perfectly. Who let my BL be this wholesome and funny? This show was fantastic, it’s only flaw was the singing (and that’s my baggage). My favourite GMMTV BL offering to date. And yes, I've watched them ALL.
(you said no GMMTV but I have to include it)
Tumblr media
The Eighth Sense
(Korea) 9/10 Viki
One of the longest BLs Korea has given us and (like Blueming) it feels more atmospheric gay coming of age romance than strictly BL. It’s got a bit of an age gap, country boy/city boy, stellar acting, complex characters, and leads with great chemistry and tension. It’s a bit chewy and sticky and less perfect than most KBLs (do I detect a touch of Taiwan?) This one deployed BL tropes (messy eater, shoulder sleep, protective seme, there’s even some hyung-slinging) but front loaded them with painful backstory and tons angst drives the 2nd half. This isn’t in the KBL bubble, there’s sharp edges and lots of triggers. For a BL the darkness of the content left me feeling unsettled (which is the only reason it didn't get a perfect score) but it does have a glorious ending and that counts for a lot.
Tumblr media
The New Employee
(Korea) 9/10 Viki
So good, SO QUEER, so soft, a near pitch perfect office BL with conflict derived from that setting. Also found family and a lesbian bestie. Sweet & innocent (and out) Seung Hyun scores the office internship of his dreams. On his first day at work he gets into it with his cool reserved (and also v gay) boss. As you do. Frankly? This is what I wanted from this new crop of office set KBLs ALL ALONG. Rainbow rice cakes forever! Directed by queer activist Kim Jho Gwang Soo (Just Friends?) partly set in the same neighbourhood as the To My Star house. Gotta love WATCHA (Semantic Error, Light on Me).
Tumblr media
Unintentional Love Story
(Korea) 9/10 iQIYI
A boy who just lost his job due to faked corruption charges accidentally discovers his ex-boss's favorite artist, now a recluse. Evil manager offers him his job back if he can convince the artist to rejoin society. Instead, they fall in love. I found the artist a bit stiff and reserved but Gongchan (maknae of B1A4) is a fucking GIFT - he carried this show (which I do not expect from the idol element). He was luminous with extraordinarily expressive eyes, just drown in the emoting abyss. The external conflict, social tension and pressure is complex and beautifully executed, plus Korea gave us legit side dishes (NOT a love triangle, hally-fucking-luya). I’m not sure on rewatchability, and it didn’t whip me into a verbal frenzy the way some KBLs do, but it still gets a solid 9/10 for those damn eyes alone.
Tumblr media
Destiny Seeker
(Thai) 8/10 grey
A darn near perfect pulp featuring 3 likeable tsundere/sunshine pairings with uncomplicated iterations of enemies to lovers. At least one half of each does a decent amount of pining and there’s good chemistry, classic tropes, and communication rep. It’s fun and full of linguistic jokes. Sublimely cheesy but a good rainy day offering with tons of rewatch potential. Full review here.
Tumblr media
Make a Wish
(Thai) 8/10
PNR (from Sammon - Manner of Death & Triage) about a doctor who can see the dead and strikes a bargain with a wish-granting irreverent tree angel - naturally they fall in love. Stars Fluke Natouch opposite not-Ohm, but who cares bc Fluke has chemistry with everybody. Once again the Thai afterlife is incredibly bureaucratic but I enjoyed the premise and the unfolding of the story (it’s not predictable but v. satisfying and with nice little twist). I like that the doctor is just gay af, fag hag bestie and everything. The cast is excellent but the comedic stylings are too overblown and tonally off. It had sad parts and did make me cry but is ultimately happy with a great sex scene, good smiley kisses, and all the agency.
Tumblr media
All the Liquors
(Korea) 8/10 Viki & Gaga
A pretty classic foodie set KBL that managed to distinguish itself from others in this category by having a particularly satisfying final episode centered around found family. Sunshine sweetie soju rep gets involved with a shy introvert chef who doesn’t drink. This has a somewhat uneven plot and ridiculous central conceit (much in the way of Tasty Florida or Behind Cut), but if you are looking for a restaurant BL with Korea’s signature softness, then this is a great option. FYI I may identify with our baby party boy hedonist more than any other BL lead ever presented.
Tumblr media
Love Mate
(Korea) 8/10 Viki
Features a very much openly gay older uke with commitment issues and a romantic (if arrogant) younger seme with no respect for boundaries (hyung romance). Workplace harassment much? That’s BL for ya. (Also a nonBL Kdrama specialty.) So yeah it’s questionable, but so is my taste. The ultimate premise that someone badly hurt shuts themself off to romance is very similar to Happy Merry Ending or 8th Sense but this version was more about fear than abuse or trauma. For me, this made Love Mate more relatable. However, because the denouement was driven by a late addition faen fatal, the conclusion felt rushed and forced. I can, however, see myself rewatching this one, so it falls into the general rank of 2023′s KBL aka solid high standard and eminently watchable.
Tumblr media
Bed Friend
(Thai YouTube, Gaga, iQIYI)
Office frienamies transition a flaming hot one night stand into a f-buddy relationship that is built on a puppy/cat dynamic (and kinks into it at one point). Our puppy is loyal, smitten, and protective with endlessly longing eyes, while our cat is snarky, prickly, and deeply damaged (ALL THE TRIGGERS). NetJames give lovely high-heat with excellent chemistry and tuned-in performances of surprising depth, unfortunately the story ultimately failed them. Had the show had the strength of its convictions and kept to a tighter, darker, harsher 8 eps it would have been the first high heat to earn a 10/10 from me, but once they fussed with it, it dropped to a solid 8/10. Could have been great but was overworked. Still if high heat is your thing, this one will not let you down. Full review here. (Triggers include: child abuse, attempted rape, family abuse)
(3x! 3x Tumblr ate this post. They HAVE to de bug their new editor. This never happens with the old one. Biggest bug is with the "undo" function, DO something about it!)

Been taking my time, adding some stuff in this AU, mostly starting off with writing some dialogue along with some sketches that I think would fit the characters in the Genshin universe
I’m not going to write all of the voice overs, so I'll be mostly focusing on the ones I think would be more interesting to write about, also it was very difficult for me to get this to sound in character so this is my attempt
Dazai’s “Voice-Over”
Hello
Greetings I’m Osamu Dazai, it’s a pleasure to meet you. If you need any help, come to the Armed Detective Agency and we’ll deal with the issue. But looking at you, you seem to be handling things fine on your own, but if you’re considering feel free to contact us.
~
About Kujou Sara
Ah, you mean the tengu lady in the Tenryou Commission? Why yes I’ve met her, she would work along side us on more difficult cases and we don’t really see eye to eye most of the time which is unfortunate.
~
About Shikanoin Heizou
Never thought that the Tenryou Commission would have their own skilled detective, he’s sharp like a certain someone I know and his method of investigation is quite unique. A detective who stops a crime before it even starts, hmm interesting.
~
About Nakajima Atsushi
Atsushi has been my most fateful subordinate ever since I took him in. The boy has a lot of potential under all of his insecurities, also he’s been the most reliable when it comes to doing the paperwork I don’t want to do.
~
About Ryuunosuke Akutagawa
Oh him? I don’t have anything special to say about him in particular but I had something in mind. What is it? Well I’m not telling.
~
About Nakahara Chuuya
Ugh, that slug? He can be irritating sometimes, not to mention his fashion sense I mean really? *sigh* Besides that, he has his moments where he’s a lot more bearable and it is fun to mess with him whenever I get the chance.
~
About the Vision
I didn’t think the gods would acknowledge me of all people to deserve a vision, well I personally don’t mind this, but I doubt I’d really put this thing to much further use, other than what I used to use it for.
~
Birthday
Hey, since today is your special day, thought I’d take you around they city and grab something to eat, and as for the bill you don’t have to worry about that, my work partner can pay the expenses for us later.
~
More About Osamu Dazai: I
Have you ever been to our detective agency by any chance? It can be quite the treat if you get the chance to know us and as someone with first hand experience I’ll gladly give you a tour of the office and the various cases we deal with on a regular basis, hey I could even recruit you in, you seem to have the skills to join. No need? well it’s fine but if you change your mind, the offer is still on the table.
~
More About Osamu Dazai: II
There is this one coworker I know who is really fun to tease, he sticks to his ideals so much he can be a bit gullible. i would sometimes give him what he thinks could be vital information only for me to them tell him it wasn’t true. Believe me, it really livens up the workplace.
~
More About Osamu Dazai: III
Whenever the agency gets reached out with a certain case, it would be something along the lines of what the usual police couldn’t handle and on some instances we would collaborate with them for the more serious situations and It also means there would be more paperwork for the Agency to deal with *sigh*, and it’s no fun having to do nothing but that so I just don’t bother.
~
More About Osamu Dazai: IV
Why did I join the Armed Detective Agency? Well you’re pretty nosy aren’t you. It’s nothing special, but let’s just say that I joined because I’ve made a promise to someone long ago. I’d rather not have someone poking into my past like that so this is all the information you’ll get out of me.
~
More About Osamu Dazai: V
I always wonder what’s the value of living, what purpose do we need to serve in order to continue that. You seem to know what you want and by the time you get it, what now? As for me, well I’m just going through the motions and see what happens next and maybe I’ll find the reason I’m searching for
This is the best I could do, might edit this since I wrote this late at night

Can you imagine if Zuko hadn’t shown Uncle Iroh the Appa flyer and Uncle had just stayed home. How the whole stealing the Avatar’s bison plan would go?
First Zuko removes Appa’s chains (except for like two chains for steering). He knows that you have to say yip-yip by now, and Appa has no problem letting him climb on, they take off… The moment they are above the lake Zuko notices that he has a) nowhere to take Appa and b) no way to steer him away from the Gaang, whom Appa is currently flying towards at top speed.
The Gaang are delighted to see Appa rescuing them from the Dai Li, and then they notice the still-disguised Blue Spirit clinging to his back. And only Aang knows who the that is. Sokka and Katara are like ‘the Blue Spirit, of the Wanted Posters? Wanted mostly for crimes against the Fire Nation? Noice.’ Then Detective Sokka asks if he is even the real Blue Spirit or a copycat, because what are the chances of the original ending up in Ba Sing Se, so far from his first appearances, right?
Meanwhile Aang has been making his classic ‘I’m not mentioning something that I really should’-faces, and huh, what Sokka says makes sense. He kind of wants to believe it too, seeing as they’re about to storm the palace and there would be no time to deal with Zuko, if he were here. So hopefully it isn’t him! (He is still ready to protect his friends from maybe-Zuko at a moment’s notice, of course.)
Anyway, Zuko manages to keep his mouth shut (the Blue Spirit disguise kinda helps with that), and he reluctantly has to admit that fighting the whole Team Avatar right now might not work out super well, but he also can’t just leave and try again tomorrow. And that’s how Zuko gets dragged along when they depose Long Feng and tell Kuei about the war...
He gets home in the evening and has to explain to his worried Uncle that he has technically helped the Avatar with a coup. The Blue Spirit is officially an Earth Kingdom hero now and has been invited to join the Earth King’s personal security. He doesn’t even have to take the mask off or talk (they can give him some paper to write when they really need to ask some questions) because Kuei doesn’t realize that isn’t exactly normal hiring practises for royal security. It’s still a prime information-gathering opportunity, though. Yes, he knows it’s dangerous and he even told the Earth King (in writing) that he has to work for his uncle and that’s how you were invited to serve tea to the Earth King, Uncle! (For real this time.) (Safety concerns are suddenly a lot less important to Iroh.)
(This is the best case scenario – worst case, the Gaang realize who he is, kick his ass, and later they tell the Earth King he has infiltrated Ba Sing Se and now the City Guard, the Dai Li and maybe the Army are searching for him. Fortunately they don’t know where he lives, but fat chance of being able to work at the new Upper Ring teashop with Uncle.)

*ੈ✩‧₊˚ not a request
*ੈ✩‧₊˚ I know there's a lot of bots with this au and probably fics too BUT
I just has to write it 😔 The au, prompt and everything is just too great!!
Also, this time I wrote in a bit different form! Hopefully it's still alright ^^ because oh my, I definitely enjoyed writing this!!
*ੈ✩‧₊˚ fluff
Tumblr media Tumblr media
✧ Heizou heard about you even before he got your case, he simply never got too into it since you're u didn't do anything to pique his interest
✧ but when he got your case, he was at first bored to do it, but when he saw you in action, it all changed!
You just robbed another shop because of private reason, maybe it was on order! Well it's up to you! But on your way back you bumped into a detective who happened to have your case.
"Well well, who do we have here? Stealing from innocent shop owner?"
Because of your inattention, he got your wrists so now, you had to lean on your charisma skills to escape this situations...
"Maybe I just wanted to meet you~? I mean look at you! You're so handsome... every girl would squirm at my place already!!"
Of course Heizou expected the thief to try getting out but somehow... he couldn't find a lie in your sentence... the adoring look in your eyes made him blush, his mouth with gaping...
"I- well... ehem, it's not- Hey! Uh, I should've known!"
And you got him! The moment he cleared his throat, you escaped! And he quickly realized that. And that was the moment, the chase began~
✧ soon, the case began VERY interesting for him! So interesting he refused any other long cases because he wanted to prioritize yours
✧ was he falling during the case? Yes. Was he about to admit it? No. Were you the same? Yes, but you weren't afraid to admit it~
✧ now he knows, to not get distract by your words! And you knew you'll be done for the next time he catches you...
✧ but somehow, the chases always made both of you smile...
✧ you were smiling because of the adrenaline and how much he tried to catch you
✧ he on the other hand, enjoyed how creative you were with your escapes and because you weren't like any other thief, he actually wanted to catch you for some other reasons than the law~
✧ it's easy to say, calm talks are almost impossible between you two... so unless you let him catch you just to talk with him for a bit, or climb a really high building so he has no choice but indulge in conversation with you, you'll only be seeing each other while chasing...
✧ but you could also lure him into a little trap! Just to make him listen to you and that's probably how you could finally have hert to heart conversation with him and confess~
"You should be more aware of your surroundings, detective~ Well, I can't say I'm complaining! We can finally talk a bit."
"Talk? Heh, you mean talk on how much you'll try selling me back to Tenryou Comission for? Classic thi-"
"No. I mean talk. I'll let you go the moment you feel uncomfortable! I planned this mechanism well enough to have a chance to explain after that so no worries~"
"Hm... well this is new. So be it... if this is so important you had to tie me to a tree, I might as well listen your point."
✧ it's really kind of a forbidden love... BUT not impossible to go around! Maybe HE won't change but he could agree on few adjustmens~ especially if you already had the hard confession!
✧ if you agree, he'd be happy to take you to interrogation and fill in the documents so you could get out without jail, maybe with "punishment" of being detective's assistant for a little while~?
✧ but if that doesn't suit you, there's also possibility of little play pretend! If you stop stealing in the Inazuma City, he'll be able to mark your case as forgotten and he wouldn't have any bigger obstacles to secretly meet with you
✧ all of that wouldn't happen soon tho... he'd first need to develop actual strong feelings for you that he finally admits and both of you would need to trust each other and have few sly calmer meetings here and there

tuesdaypost year in review
this year brought to you by viewers like you. thank you! i still do not know how to thank everyone for their incredible generosity during the Late July/Early August Moving Catastrophe Badtimes and im still feelin some kinda way about it. thank you.
took eight weeks completely off, more than any other year so far
overnight traveled for work for the first time
moved cross country with Mack to face dangers untold and hardships unnumbered
bought an actual for-real couch and not a futon
got Phil
(unrelated to Phil) i got spayed after almost ten years of begging and pleading various medical professionals, (also unrelated) got covid and RSV back to back
listening
fallow weeks: 8. i almost always have a tuesdaysong bc i am almost always listening to something. all of the tuesdaysongs are here:
particular favorites were Peel Me A Grape (Anita O’Day), top spotify song of the year Yeah Yeah Yeah (Blood Orchid), Yeah Yeah Yeah’s Wolf remixed by Sextile, Father Finlee (Spence Hood), A Minha Menina (Os Mutantes).
the very last tuesdaysong of the year is Sugar Rum Cherry by Duke Ellington, one of the few christmas songs i tolerate.
special shoutout to the austin underscore walker universe of podcasts, bc i mainlined A More Civilized Age (clone wars/star wars rewatch) while packing, and devoured P/alisade (the newest scifi season of F/riends at the Table) this month.
-
reading
fallow weeks: 11. pleased that i am killing the invisible rules in my head and including more articles instead of feeling guilty about Not Reading A Real Book!!! every week when i sit down to write the tuesdaypost. read a fuckton earlier this year bc i was procrastinating moving prep, have not read much since i moved.
article sources:
inoreader (the best free RSS feed/app imo)
The Markup (gold standard usage of data to show how various technologies are being used to harm the public good: you may have heard of the recent American bills to equalize internet service and fix organ donation grift. that was them)
Web 3 Is Going Just Great (crypto disasters)
404 Media (technology reporting, internet culture, also break a lot of data/legal/privacy scandals)
Remap (formerly Vice's video games division Waypoint, more active on podcasts and twitch but do have great personal essays about gaming longreads)
Retraction Watch (an important academic service but platformed a particularly virulent transphobe and let the comments devolve into a free for all. yes im still mad about this)
Krebs on Security (~once a month extremely long and thoughtful infosec writeups)
Data Colada (cover academic data whoopsies, currently being sued for their journalism)
the two authors i spent the most time with this year were Alexis Hall (romance novels and novellas) and Raymond Chandler's noir detective novels. i read 90% of Raymond Chandler's work in march and went insane about yet another sad bisexual man. Philip Marlowe the cat is named after his pet detective, the human Philip Marlowe.
Tumblr media
march was kind of a banger for this category bc in one of what i consider the best tuesdayposts this year, i tried to break down why i fucking hated Frank Miller's Sin City comics so much.
Tumblr media
other comics, but ones i loved: Spy X Family, Berserk, weird noir DC miniseries The Human Target.
Tumblr media
-
watching
fallow weeks: 10
notable stuff i watched for the first time (according to letterboxd) that will stick in my head for a bit. some (The Night of the Hunter) i am so glad i watched once but do not feel the need to revist. some (Slipstream) fascinate me with how good they could have been. some (Twilight. all of them) were fun bc of the people i watched them with. the two i went particularly deranged over are The Big Sleep and Day of Anger. still feel very normal about them.
Tumblr media
very heavy on crime and courtroom films this year!
television: very excited for s2 of Blue Eye Samurai, Interview With The Vampire, Spy X Family.
youtube
i should loop back and finish Black Lagoon, Adventure Time (completely forgot i rewatched most of that this spring), and The Big O. that last one is throwing me a little bc (since i last checked) there is no freely available version with subtitles (i cannot find subtitles Period) and i'll be damned if i have to import a dvd. i can find the dub with subtitles but! i want to hear spike spiegel as mecha-batman :(
sort of lukewarm eh-i'll-get-around-to-it about s/tar wars shows. i have not watched a/hsoka At All or wrapped up the animated Resistance show. i'll pay attention when ando/r is airing again.
-
playing
fallow weeks: 10. way fewer than i would have guessed!
the trouble with this category is that it is exceptionally hard to find new good games (either ones i already own or ones that are free). it is almost completely prohibitively exhausting to trawl through the free category on steam. there's simply a lot of cruft out there. a very good thing (but also incredibly timeconsuming thing) i started this year was throwing games into various folders so the eight bajillion libraries i have are less overwhelming. i can safely ignore 80% of my epic games library, for example. the itch.io library is a whole separate weekend project i think.
Tumblr media
got back into genshin for good or for ill, which took up most of the back half of the year.
youtube
go play ABZU. i am no longer asking.
i would like to go back and finish the RPG Gamedec, un-softblock myself in the RPG Weird West, and finish the visual novel Dead Man's Rest. i think i stalled out in Call of Juarez: Gunslinger bc there was a mexican standoff that my reflexes are simply not fast enough for/too much to pay attention to. i am excited to pick up that spooky fishing simulator DREDGE when i have fun money again.
Tumblr media
completely forgot i spent most of jan/feb/march being annoyed at fallou/t 4 but having some fun in Far Harbor, also forgot i spent an entire month playing through Wolfenstein: The New Order but i am not compelled to play through it again. it was fun! but like many games after one playthrough my time with it is done!
-
making
fallow weeks: 17 (unsurprising, pretty low energy year as a whole as i recovered from covid rounds 1 and 2 and the frankly insane stress of moving).
wrote exactly one fic: some matters at the heart of cowboy western snap shirts: why they are so and some of the implications of their being so, i would like to write more next year but i don't really have the brainpower. i hope this changes soon.
the baby blanket i started last year is still not done but the baby is still under a year so i have a very narrow window of time.
dyed some couch covers im still very pleased with
Tumblr media
wrote an extremely long but very well received gallery wall guide
Tumblr media
recipes: 12. sort of shocked by this? i am becoming an incrementally better cook and slowly finding recipes i both like and can successfully execute. found the fortitude to caramelize onions, for example. quick pickled red onions, for another thing. big year for protein or greens on top of beans and rice. faves included: cuban-style pork shoulder, hellofresh peruvian chicken, red lentil soup, white bean/kale/rice bowls
i would like to be less terrified about cooking fish. i would like to eat more fish.
and of course, the biggest project of all, acquired Phil. here is my very favorite photo ive ever taken of a cat

A Galling Yoke, Part 8
<- Prev | Next ->
for the “You’re just in love with the idea of being in love” and “Do you want me to leave?” squares on my July Break Bingo card
See this post for main info, including a masterlist and synopsis. See this post for warnings.
Word Count: 2.2k
Pairing: Sherlock Holmes x f!Reader
Rating: Teen
Tumblr media
You couldn’t breathe. You couldn’t move. You couldn’t think.
With a mere half-dozen words, Sherlock had shattered the fragile dynamic you had so carefully pieced back together for you two. After fifteen years apart… Why would he—? How could he—?
“I am in love with you.”
The words echoed in your head, rippling from end to end of your skull as an earthquake rips through a city. Sherlock was still speaking, one hand on his waist and the other gesticulating, but those six words had submerged you in water—boiling, acidic water—and you heard nothing past them.
“I am in love with you.”
You had been completely, woefully caught off guard by Sherlock’s declaration. He had shown up at your doorstep two days after you had last seen each other—the day you had met Miss Algar together—which had been unexpected as well, though not shocking: Sherlock had taken to showing up whenever he wished, and even Mr Rogers was becoming inured to his abruptness. Having assumed the detective had made headway in hunting down the hitman, you had eagerly welcomed him into your sitting room; your excitement had wilted into worry as he had gotten up from his chair after only a few moments then begun pacing silently. You had only just thought of a tactful way to ask him what was the matter when he had blurted out—
“In vain I have struggled. It will not do. My feelings will not be repressed. We were separated for a decade and a half, I know, but I never stopped thinking—caring—about you, and I have recently understood that these feelings have been of a…have all these years been of a romantic nature. My lady, I am in love with you.”
Blast.
It was a good thing you were sitting.
In love with you…?
The last time you had heard those words, they had been out of the mouth of slimy, toadying Mr Sulyard, back when he had offered for your hand. He had been lying through his teeth. He had known it; you had known it; however, you had also known that your father would have given you no choice but to accept, so you had lied through your teeth right back with a humbly delighted yes. Edmund, “in love with you” as he was, had been good to you in public and anything but behind closed doors.
“I am in love with you.”
To this day, Edmund’s family happily remained ignorant of their son and brother’s blatant derision and cruelty, although they espoused how much they admired your personality and your accomplishments whenever you saw them. Your own father claimed to be pleased with how you turned out and to care about your wellbeing, yet he imposed his desires above all else.
“I am in love with you.”
Even William had never chosen you before his comfort. He had expressed his concern when he had heard of your and Edmund’s engagement, knowing a little of the man’s reputation from Harrow and a lot of your ill-matched disposition. Despite this worry for you, he had not stood up for you, not when it would mean fighting with Lord Coltidge, not when it mattered most to you.
And Sherlock—
“I am in love with you.”
Dearest, most beloved Sherlock—
“I am in love with you.”
How could he have forgotten what he had done to make you discredit love, or at least distrust that anybody loved you?
Through your agony, you closed your mouth from where it had been hanging open, then you clutched your hands in your lap to stay their trembling, then you lifted your eyes to finally meet Sherlock’s.
“My resolve to tell you these things hardened when I realised I was struggling to focus through your absence these last couple of…”
He paused his speech once your gazes locked, and when he smiled gently at you, you forgot you were supposed to be thinking of a response. Then he spoke: “Of course, we cannot do aught about it until this case is over.”
You blinked. The utter pragmatism of such a statement within a romantic spiel jarred on you. “What— What do you mean?”
“We must focus on the case, then we may settle all personal matters.” He waved a dismissive hand. “The emotional qualities are antagonistic to clear reasoning; we must not let them get in the way.”
And suddenly, sharply, you remembered the pain he had caused you—was, apparently, still causing you—and laughed. It was a too-big, too-loud thing, with haphazard edges and a dangerous echo, and it brought tears to your eyes.
This time, Sherlock blinked at you. “Why do you laugh?”
“Sir, you need not worry about being too emotional during this investigation,” you said, “for I can settle this business matter for you straightaway. It would appear to me, Mr Holmes, that you are simply in love with the idea of being in love.”
At that, he actually scoffed. “That is ridiculous. Why would I want to be in love? It deludes the perfectly reasonable mind; it softens one’s senses, warps one’s thoughts. If I could avoid it, I would.”
You ground your teeth for a moment before speaking to make sure your voice remained even. “That is precisely the reason. Despite your attempts to void your heart of tender feelings, you know you long for a profound bond with the perfect companion—you know you could be happy in such a relationship. Above all, you know you are happy now that you think you have found it.”
“Perhaps you have the right of it,” he said. “Yet would you expect me to rejoice in a shallow bond with an imperfect companion?”
The icy exterior you had pulled around yourself cracked—was he speaking of you and Edmund? Was he truly critiquing you for accepting such a bond with such a companion?
He arched an eyebrow. “Ought I to congratulate myself on the hope of a relationship that would decidedly add wretched complexity to my life?”
The ice broke apart entirely. “Is that why you left me?” you demanded. “Coming to London for me would have been wretchedly complex?”
His countenance darkened. “You left me, my lady. I waited for your return to Ferndell for months—I counted the days, pathetic me!—and in your stead, I received notice of your engagement to another man.”
“I had little choice in that,” you exclaimed, “and I had no ability at all to go back to you. How could I, a young lady with no money and no chaperone, make it all the way down a London street, never mind onto a public conveyance to Shropshire? You, the gentleman, were the one with the power to come to me!”
Shaking his head, Sherlock moved away to stare out the window. Before you could decide whether to stand and follow him, he said, quietly but with a strong and sweeping undercurrent, “What power, petal? I promised you that I would not hold you back. I promised you that I was nothing short of glad that you would get a come-out ball and a curtsy before the queen like all the proper rich ladies do. I promised you that I would happily let you go if you found a proper rich gentleman at some party that suited you better than I. Those promises took all the power I had.”
With a shaky breath, you pressed a hand to your sternum, vain as the attempt was to keep your heart from falling apart. “You… You also promised me that you wanted to marry me, that you would protect and provide for me. You promised me that you loved me, Sherlock.”
He whirled around. “You promised me the same, my lady.”
“And I do!” Your hands flew to grip the armrests at your sides. “That is, I did— I…”
His gaze softening, he stepped towards you. “Petal…”
You pushed yourself to your feet and looked away from him. “What does it matter how I feel or felt? Though I did not need you to rescue me, I did want you to fight for me.” You met his eyes. “That you did not—that the love you felt for me was so easily given up on—is a fact, and fact comes before feelings, does it not, Mr Holmes?”
He frowned. “Do not throw my words back at—”
“They are not merely your words, sir, they are your core values and their consequences! You only commit as far as reason goes; once logic dictates the chances are uncertain, you become uncertain.”
His frown deepened, but he did not respond.
“I do not want someone to choose me when it is sensible, Sherlock,” you said, softly, desperately. “I want to be chosen when it is totally nonsense, through total nonsense. Was it not nonsensical of me to pray for you to show up before the wedding so you could tell my father I had another acceptable option? Was it not downright imbecilic of me to sit and stare out the window and wait for you after Edmund died? Still I did those very things, all the while you…you could not even accept the risk of visiting me to see if I was all right.”
“We…” His voice trembles, you noted with disbelief. “We have another chance now.”
You shook your head, straining on your neck, weighty on your shoulders. “Another chance to be friends, perhaps. But, Sherlock, you are still uncomfortable with coming to me if it means stepping beyond reason, and I… I ought not to ask more of you than you can give.”
“No,” he said, crossing the room in two strides. “No, my lady, ask— Demand everything you would of me, I—”
A knock came at the sitting room door.
You took a moment to consider Sherlock’s pleading look, then turned away and sighed, “Come in.”
Rogers opened the door but barely had time to announce, “Lord Coltidge for you, my lady,” before the earl himself was striding into the room.
“Daughter,” he said, “I care not that you have another visitor; I am your father and you shall speak with me. How could you have stained the Voss family name so recklessly, you—” He stopped short when he finally noticed Sherlock. “Holmes? What—?”
“My lord,” he greeted. “I apologise. It would appear I am her ladyship’s other visitor.”
Your father, brow furrowing, looked between you and Sherlock a few times. “You are here about the case?”
“No,” he replied.
“Yes,” you said at the same time.
Sherlock blinked. “Er, that is, yes, your lordship, I am here about Mr Sulyard’s death. I wished to inform my lady of developments of a…of an idea she gave me some days previous.”
“Is that so?” He turned cutting eyes onto you. “Would this idea be that your husband was seeking satisfaction in another woman’s bed?”
As you flushed hotly, Sherlock stepped in front of you, blocking your father’s view. “Lord Coltidge!” he cried. “Such vulgarity is hardly appropriate in a lady’s hearing, is it? Besides, I can scarcely credit that you would rather shame your own daughter rather than the gentleman who would dishonour his word by breaking his vows.”
You gulped—you had never seen your father turn that particular shade before.
“I think you best leave us now, sir,” snarled the earl.
“Don’t be ridiculous,” retorted Sherlock, sticking his finger in the air with all the confidence of someone who actually had authority to warn anybody here. “Officially, you have no say in this house; it has been her ladyship’s property for a decade.” Then, he turned around to give you his full attention. “Petal, do you want me to leave?”
He was so soft in that moment, in his voice and in his eyes, that you nearly shook your head. Indeed, your heart pleaded for him to remain, for the bubble of safety that came with his presence to not be burst. But he couldn’t remain. You couldn’t afford relying on him in such a vulnerable position—you simply weren’t ready to pick yourself off the floor if you leaned on him and he walked away once again.
“We have had a…trying conversation,” you whispered to him. “Perhaps you would like to go home and relax now.”
His eyes were stormy as he glanced at Lord Coltidge and muttered, “What I would like to do is…,” but they cleared when he focused on you and sighed, “…whatever you would prefer, my lady.”
You smiled your gratitude towards him, but you knew it was cold comfort as he stalked past the earl with an unhesitatingly aimed dark look. He paused at the door to say over his shoulder, “I shall keep you apprised of my progress.”
“Good man,” replied Lord Coltidge, though you knew Sherlock was speaking to you.
You held your breath, waiting to meet Sherlock’s gaze once more, but he quitted the room and closed the door with nary a glance back. Although you suddenly felt more brittle than you ever had, you squared your shoulders and turned towards your father.
“Good afternoon, sir. Please, take a seat. How is it that I have stained the family name this time?”
Thank you for reading. I had a lot of fun writing this chapter lmaooo. I hope y’all enjoyed the Jane Austen and Arthur Conan Doyle quotes? :P Feedback is always welcome!

KIM KITSURAGI - “You were right, detective.”
The lieutenant speaks in a hushed tone. You strain to hear him over the surrounding hum - the city talking, the murmurs of the past and the nonexistent future.
PERCEPTION (HEARING) - Here, at the centre of the known world…
REACTION SPEED - And now also it’s very edge.
PERCEPTION (HEARING) - …everything is loud.
LOGIC - You remember the two-millimeter hole in the world - the way it swallowed sound and sensation around it - this is different.
EMPATHY - Surrounded by the pale like this, you hear, you feel, everything.
YOU - “Of course I was.”
RHETORIC - Right about what? You realize that you have no idea what the lieutenant is talking about.
YOU - “What was I right about, Kim?” you ask.
INLAND EMPIRE - In the far far distance, somewhere out to the east, you hear gunshots. Screams of the fallen revolutionaries, a bitter wail of failure.
Then, in the south, a child’s laughter, echoing all the way from Jamrock.
REACTION SPEED - It’s your laughter. You must’ve been six… Or eight. You can’t tell.
INLAND EMPIRE - Another familiar sound cuts you off from reminiscing further.
The call of the Kineema, from that fateful morning when the sound of its engine brought you back into the world of the living - with no memory, but with the first inkling of the approaching end.
CONCEPTUALIZATION - That morning, your life began - and ended.
KIM KITSURAGI - Back in the present, the lieutenant snorts.
His lips are wrapped around the butt of a cigarette. This one is nothing like his usually preferred brand - it’s thicker, stronger and it burns unpleasantly in his lungs.
EMPATHY - In the last few weeks, ever since the pale has gotten noticeably closer, he’s been smoking a lot more than one a day.
ESPRIT DE CORPS - This abandonment of his carefully crafted habits is what makes the gravity of the situation truly sink in, more so than the porch collapse stretching on in front of you.
KIM KITSURAGI - “The Gloaming?” He glances over at you. “The end of the world.”
VISUAL CALCULUS - You were wrong, though. About the timing of it…
YOU - “No.”
KIM KITSURAGI - Your curt response makes the lieutenant turn towards you fully. He regards you curiously, but says nothing.
YOU - Noticing the look on his face, you explain further, “It came sooner than I thought.”
KIM KITSURAGI - “Ah,” he exhales. The cigarette smoke is white, much like the odourless nothingness surrounding you. It curls, mixes into the pale until one is indistinguishable from the other. “Yes, you did say it would be…”
REACTION SPEED - He’s trying to recall the exact number.
YOU - “27 years,” you finish for him. “It would’ve been 24, now. If I had been correct.”
KIM KITSURAGI - “Mhm. I thought I’d live to see 70.” A sad smile.
INLAND EMPIRE - He was supposed to. But something has changed, some shift in the ever turning wheel of events, just out of your reach - he was supposed to see 70.
VOLITION - Don’t worry. He will. In another life - another universe.
You will, too, Harry.
YOU - “Perhaps in the next world,” you whisper. The words echo loudly in the surrounding memories.
KIM KITSURAGI - The lieutenant hums in acknowledgement. By now, his cigarette is nearly a stub. He pulls it away from his lips and ponders it for a moment before outstretching his arm towards you in a silent offer.
YOU - Rather than look at the cigarette in his hand, your eyes linger on the lieutenant’s lips.
VOLITION - Stop it already. This isn’t appropriate.
ELECTROCHEMISTRY - Oh, would you loosen up for once? None of that matters anymore. In fact, you could…
COMPOSURE - Pay attention. He’s looking.
KIM KITSURAGI - He is. Noticing your hesitation, the lieutenant meets your gaze and nods towards the cigarette.
YOU - At last, you take it. You take a long drag, until there’s nothing more left.
ELECTROCHEMISTRY - Your body buzzes - not with the nicotine smoke curling in your lungs, but rather with the warmth of his skin against yours as your hands brushed against one another.
INLAND EMPIRE - You will never feel this warm ever again.
KIM KITSURAGI - “Well then, detective…” he pauses.
YOU - “Kim?”
SHIVERS - The pale swallows you both and with you, the city. You hear it, for the last time…
YOU - What does it say?
SHIVERS - SEE YOU TOMORROW, OFFICER. IN ANOTHER WORLD - AGAIN. YOU CAN STILL SAVE ME
ESPRIT DE CORPS - And another voice, overlapping…
KIM KITSURAGI - “See you soon, Harry.”
ESPRIT DE CORPS - You can still save me.

RainCode Sickfic (Sequel 3) preview!
(RainCode Endgame Spoilers!)
Tumblr media
Behind the mask…lies the pain you’ve kept hidden all this time…
So as I’ve briefly mentioned multiple times, over winter break I will be writing a new fic, aka the third and final part to my RainCode sickfic trilogy. I call the it the “Sickfics of the Heart” series~ :)
The final fic I write will take place in the post game. Where former Number One, Yuma decides to visit Kanai Ward to check on his homunculus Makoto before the year ends as a break. But he finds out he’s not in good shape health-wise and decides to try to look after him.
I will be making multiple references to my first fic “Home is Where the Heart is” so be sure to read that fic first!
This fic will also contain more angst. (that I will make super fluffy in return :3)
Here is the summary of what I have planned.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Title: A Heartwarming Reunion
With his memories back, Former Number One, now Independent Detective Yuma Kokohead has recently solved yet another case. One more step towards his goal of eradicating all the world’s mysteries. He finds himself a little tired and realized that it was getting close to the end of the year. He thinks maybe it’s a good opportunity to take a small vacation to recuperate.
New Years is usually a time best spent with family. Sadly, Yuma didn’t have any blood relatives. His secondary family was the Nocturnal Detective Agency, but with the master detectives off doing their own thing, and the chief deceased (or rather wandering aimlessly as an undead homunculus zombie) he couldn’t be selfish and take up their time.
But as he thought back to his time spent in Kanai Ward's city of endless rain as an amnesiac, one person crossed his mind. The person who shared his face, his mind and his build. The homunculus clone he had to battle to solve the city’s mystery. (Though he could not remember what exactly happened) The CEO and now Leader of the clouded city of rain full of homunculi like him. Makoto Kagutsuchi.
Yuma thought to himself that even if they were previously enemies, Makoto was probably the closest thing to a blood relative he had left. So he decides to return to Kanai Ward to pay him a visit, to see how the city is fairing and hoping he had some time off to talk and catch up. And as the city’s leader, he was usually alone. He wouldn’t mind a little surprise visit from his original …would he?
Little did Yuma know, that Makoto may have needed his help more than he originally expected. He overhears rumors in the city that speak concerns of Makoto pushing himself too hard. It turns out their city’s leader was ill, and he had only gotten worse due to his days of continuous overworking and trying to brush it off, by hiding it using his mask.
Yuma is about to experience being a caretaker for the first time in his life, and to his own double. He has a bit of trouble at first, but he has a little bit of help from his heartwarming memories of his previous found family, the Nocturnal Detective Agency. He also finds out more about Makoto in the process. Realizing that he’s been in a lot of pain…that he’s kept masked all this time, all alone.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Also yes this edit is terrible... x'D Makoto's sprite art makes it difficult to edit into his body... I tried okay? x-x;
Anyway, I hope you will look forward to it! I will try to get it done by either Christmas or...the end of the year :3c
Also this will likely be a multi-chapter fic.

Domestic HCs with Kiriko/Sojourn/Junker Queen (seperate) and their fem s/o? I love all the new characters, thanks in advance!
Domestic HC's (Junker Queen, Sojourn, and Kiriko)
Junker Queen
Living in Junker Town with the queen herself isn't per say "relaxing" however it sure is exciting
Odessa loves a good fight, if you two met as fighters you can bet a fun little spar occurs often (as long as no one gets seriously hurt)
Loves when you sit on her lap while on her throne (or in her lap at any time at all really)
Despite being queen and having a number of people she could call upon to serve her, Odessa prefers to cook for you and her.
She's surprisingly good at it!
She totally has a Kiss the Queen apron and if you disagree come fight me
When the night rolls around, Odessa is a blanket thief
She also refuses to go to bed without a goodnight kiss
If you wake her up to try to wrestle back the blanket, she'll just pull you into her arms and keep you wrapped there with the blanket, like a cuddle burrito
Her body heat is crazy good to have on cold nights that's for sure.
Honestly If you'd complain about being held securely by Odessa, I don't think you're human
Talks in her sleep a little, but other than that she's a sound sleeper.
Tumblr media
Sojourn
Honestly, yaaas commander slay
Vivian is an active woman so expect some couple's exercises (quite frankly all these women are just super active)
Camping in the Canadian wilderness? You can bet your sojourn simp hide this will happen.
She'll pack some camp meals, some camp supplies, and you're off for a couple days
Two cool gals sitting on camp chairs next to a fire
S'mores were definitely made that night.
Vivian, just loves to be outdoors in general
So that includes nights under the stars on the front lawn with a couple glasses of wine.
When there are free nights indoors she loves to binge shows like Bones, NCIS, Grey's Anatomy, and other crime mystery shows.
This is not because I saw her cyber detective skin on the shop last night, nope.
Vivian has you right next to her and a bucket of popcorn to munch on
When it's time for bed, Vivian winds down with some yoga and would love if you joined her.
As far as sleeping goes, she moves around in her sleep a lot (still holds your hand in her sleep no matter the position that's a superpower. She snores, don't @ me.
Tumblr media
Kiriko
Kiriko is unabashedly, a city girl. The flat you two live in is pretty tidy surprising considering her chaotic nature.
This means going out to various arcades, live music and comedy, movies, and enjoying the overall city life.
As a city girl I can relate
As far as being active goes, she loves to ride her bike around the city, and she'll be more than ecstatic if you join her
Maybe biking to a park on a sunny afternoon and setting up a picnic and watching the clouds go by
Back at home, she's a gamer and she love to play games like just dance (if you're feeling down, EMERGENCY DANCE PARTIES), Smash bros, and breath of the wild (though we all know she'd play more than that.)
Would cuddle you from behind with the controller in front and play her games like that.
Can't cook for the life of her, however she can bake, and man can that girl BAKE
Cookie and donut decorating YES.
Kiriko ALWAYS licks the batter off the spoon, if you try to stop her, she'll tackle you to the ground and force you to eat some.
Your face is stained with sugary residue with how many little kisses she gives you in the process (definitely licked some stuff off your face which earned her a playful smack on the shoulder.)
When night rolls around, she'll calm down and maybe put on a superhero movie (I get the total vibe she loves Marvel and DC)
