High School AU//Marauders Era Sirius

This imagine is based off the prompt: You found me with my hand stuck in the vending machine and kept me company until help came, telling me about all the embarrassing things you’ve done to make me feel better, that I got from here!

A/N: A birthday piece for the lovely @theweasleysredhair !! Happy birthday Chloe, I hope it’s as wonderful as your writing!! Sending you all my love and hugs, I hope you enjoy this goofy lil fic, although disclaimer, I didn’t have much time to get it done so it may be awful and I am sorry xoxo

The sun was beating down hard, signifying the beginning of summer, one that hadn't yet been marked by the last day of school. A sort of haze took over the building, only a few people still lazily lounging around, carelessly flipping through textbooks and attempting to suppress the memories of past finals and trying to ignore the panic of impending ones.

With a sigh, Chloe let her textbook slam shut, the heat of the day sticking to her like glue and making her frustration slip out of her mind with a sigh. She eyed the vending machine almost longingly, taking less than a second to get up and abandon the bundles of notes scattered across the courtyard table and make her way towards the ice cold drinks trapped behind the glass.

She slips a coin into the slot, presses two of the buttons almost mindlessly and feels a relieved smile spread across her face as the condensation coated bottle of water began to fall towards the opening.

Until it stopped, that is.

"You have got to be kidding me," she mumbles, giving the machine a slight kick.

Nothing.

A frustrated sigh falls from her lips as she kneels down and reaches in through the opening, bending her arm slightly and finally grabbing hold of the cool bottle. A sigh of relief later, she's pulling the bottle out of the machine. Or trying to, anyway.

"Son of a--" she struggles to get her arm out of the small space, each tug leaving her only with a dull pain in her elbow, and prompting loud, frustrated groans to fall from her lips.

"Alright there?"

No no no no no, is the only thought that races through her mind as she turns as far as she possibly can without hurting her arm even more.

Of course it had to be Sirius Black, of all people. Who else?

"I'm fine," she says unconvincingly, with a forced smile on her face.

"Struggling?" he's looking down at her, his grey eyes smiling along with his lips. It's not mockery though, it's a puzzled, if a little amused, kindness.

"I'm fine," she repeats, fumbling around her pocket with her free hand in an attempt to reach her phone, her eyes remaining on her trapped arm.

"Worse things have happened, love," she turns towards his voice and finds him crouching beside her, swiftly dialing a number she couldn't quite see.

"Yeah?" she finally gives in, admitting without a word that her, "I'm fine"s, were a simple facade, "Like what?"

Her question is met with a laugh from the boy, who is now simply sitting down on the floor next to her, pressing send on his phone and finally facing her.

"Where do I begin? The time I accidentally wore my mum's jeans to school? They even had flowers sewn in. Or maybe the time I got drunk and offered to sell James for a meatball sub?"

Chloe feels the pain in her arm vanish as another appears in her stomach, her laughs echoing through the (luckily) empty hall.

"Maybe we should talk about the time I borrowed a pair of swimming trunks from Peter, and they slipped off the second I got into the pool."

"No way."

"Everyone saw my ass, it was... Not my best moment. Good thing I have a nice ass," he shrugged, letting a small chuckle accompany her now booming laughs.

"Okay, maybe this isn't so bad," she managed through her laughs, barely catching her breath.

"I've called for help, love. We'll be out of here in no time," he gives her a gentle pat on the back and for some reason she feels tingles run down her spine. She gives him a smile, secretly hoping that her cheeks don't look as flushed as they feel.

"Thank you again!" Chloe yells after the friendly maintenance man, who'd finally freed her arm. Unfortunately, without the water bottle.

"So," Sirius' voice sent another tingle running through her, although she'd been listening to it intently for the past half hour, "How does it feel to be free again?"

"Fantastic," she retorts with a chuckle and a sigh of relief, meeting his smile with her own.

"I suppose you'd say no to being trapped again then," she looks at him with a frown, her eyes showing her confusion.

"I mean, going on a date with me would be kind of like being trapped, wouldn't it? I've been told I'm kind of insufferable," he continues, "Plus, I wouldn't let you get out of it easily either."

This time, she knows her cheeks are just as flushed as they feel, if not more so. A tad terrified that an attempt to speak may end in an incoherent squeak, she gives a nod, grinning widely. Her response is met with a wink.

"Free tonight?"

Another nod.

"I'll pick you up at 8. Hope you don't mind a motorbike."

A shake of her head.

"Oh, and there'll be drinks there, so try keep your hands out of vending machines until then, will you?" He chuckles again and places a soft kiss on her cheek, making a billion thoughts rush through her mind.

"Got it," she answers with a smile that only widens as she watches an odd definition of a hero walk away.
