☆ something in the way - nirvana (he has this on his playlist ironically ever since the newest batman came out. he randomly walks into their bedroom and plays it on his phone, standing in a brooding manner until Baaabe scolds him LMFAO.)

☆ o green world - gorillaz (“it scratches my brain in the right places” …he cannot sit still when this song is on, but then again, he isn’t able to with any music)

☆ dare - gorillaz (refer to the description above. he bounces on his legs and shakes his hips to the beat, regardless of whether Baaabe is watching or not. he is a SUCKER for a cool vibe)

☆ animals - nickelback (he particularly enjoys the suggestive lyrics and often bursts into song regularly with this one. makes him jump up and down uncontrollably in true stimming fashion.)

☆ crying lightning - arctic monkeys (bass line. groovy beat. cool lyric cadence. loves playing it while driving. definitely shakes his head aggressively to the guitar.)

☆ smooth operator - sade (HE LOVES THE BASS AND SAXOPHONE. it’s his favorite song to dance with Baaabe to. he hums the melody in their ear and enjoys holding them from behind while they sway :3. loves when he hears them singing along.)

Karen - Probably not straight... I headcanon her as doesn't know what straight means so she just does whatever she wants, Uses Tiktok and tried to use Tumblr but was too confused to figure it out, watches Miraculous Ladybug, I feel like she tried watching XO Kitty got confused and stopped watching it

Gretchen - Either Bi or Straight, Uses Tumblr but doesn't post, gives Jane Austen fan vibes or Book Tok Vibes

I forget I can just ramble and rant my thoughts!

I try to focus on sharing just my art but I also do writing and try to have a bit of a critical mind when it comes to media I consume.

Now that it has been a few months since I watched all of TMNT 12 I do have some thoughts and opinions and kind of want to just ramble about it before I forget, in an informal manner.

I at first really liked it, it was the second TMNT show I watched after Rise, now that I've been watching the 87 and 03 shows my opinions on 12 did change just a bit but I still do like it!

Literally all the turtles are my son's now. Especially Leonardo (he's blue coded so-). I just think they're so cute and neat!!!

I'm going to put thoughts to spoiler stuff of 12 so if you plan to watch the show then don't click beyond this point!

So in the last season of TMNT 12 it kind of feels like all the scrapped ideas or random plots that couldn't be fit into the prior seasons were put in this one? I really like the new op it gives of Cowboy Bebop vibes. The op song change is really nice to because I never really looked the tmnt 12 op song before.

However, the plots feel all over the place? There's a mini ark where they're jumping through time meeting Halloween monsters and then another ark where Mikey defeats Satan? Then we get another really tiring ark that's this implied alternate madmax fury road parody that is honestly so depressing? Donnie is just dead.

Which btw, the show likes killing ppl off for dramatic effect. They killed Master Splinter three times and had Mikey and Donnie get scattered to atoms on two separate occasions. I should also mention Leo was in a coma for 3 months with no IV or anything and he woke up relatively fine.

Anyways, going into the last season and stuff leading up to it... They kind of ended with the 87 turtles and the 12 boys finding new passion and inspiration from teaching the 87 boys. I didn't really vibe with it because it just made the 87s the butt of the joke and made them out to be incompetent silly little guys.

They ARE silly little guys but the thing is they're not incompetent. The 87 boys have done some insanely incredible things even when unarmed. Especially when unarmed. I actually think the angle of finding a new way to help people as a means to end the series on an inspired note is fine, the 87 boys even carried on the will and told Bebop and Rocksteady they can be more than Shredder's mutant henchmen. It is very cute and wholesome. I just think they could have maybe done it differently?

Why not set up for them to teach Chi arts? The turtles of 87 don't have any mystical abilities and it would have been interesting to do a set up like that? There are ways to write the finale without just dumping on the original source.

Focusing back on the ending of 12, we also leave on a seriously alarming note. It's just a big mixed bag. After Master Splinter went to run on the hamster wheel in the sky, Leonardo was handed the reigns of the family. He was told "You're the teacher now Leonardo. You're the father. Look after your brothers" and Splinter then willingly walked into his own death. I think the writers maybe thought this was amazing and inspirational or something but I found it incredibly messed up? We start tmnt 12 on all 4 boys birthday. Meaning Splinter himself considers them all to be the same age. And since the series was running they haven't on screen celebrated a birthday and from the implied weather changes most of the seasons 1-4 seem to take place over just a year??? We don't get a definitive timeline (or I'm a bad audience and didn't notice).

So one can only assume Master Splinter was telling his...15 year old son to be the father to his other 15 year old children.

Why do I bring this up at all? After Leonardo takes over the family and he KILLS shredder they go into this rushed cult demon resurrection arc that culminates in the classic dead walk the earth and Mikey defeats Satan. In this arc we meet a ghost splinter who does not even go to see his kids, he just helps Casey and April. But throughout and the lead up to this we have moments of Leo having conversations with what we can perceive as Sensei's ghost in the dojo.

But the climax of the arc cements splinters ghost has not once visited his son's.

So Leonardo is quite literally having full on conversations, in the dojo for his brothers to hear, with a hallucination of his dead dad. He's coping this way. His family does nothing about this.

Tmnt 2012 has the worst Splinter. He ignored his son's and chose favorites. He told Leonardo to die (season 1 finale). He calls Mikey dumb and insights the others to do it too. He told Raph his anger makes him exactly like Shredder and never elaborates or teaches him how to better work through his issues. And he straight up calls Donnie useless.

None of that is even an exaggeration. Adding context just makes it worse.

Here's a list:

Do you know the turtles are the equivalent of helicopter raised homeschool boys? They've never stepped foot outside of the lair except at the start of ep 1.

They learn ALL of their lessons from old shows and cartoons. The show writers even sometimes use the cartoons to set up the theme of the episodes!

When Leonardo rescues Mikey he pats him on the head to comfort him.

Literally almost all of their ninja weapons have hidden weapons. I love it I wish I saw more of them using them.

Michelangelo is the family chef because somehow none of the rest have any life skills. Not even Splinter (explains so much).

They all have such cute shape language. I love bean pole Donnie, blocky buff Raph, perfect pear Leo, and round freckled Mikey.

They also now have unique eye colors. I love their eyes. Donnie with his big beautiful brown eyes (sometimes they look red). Raph with his acid green stare into your soul eyes, they look like they would glow like mako eyes in ff7. Mikey with bright blue eyes all big and round. And then Leo with the cunning dark blue eyes!

I just want to pinch their cheeks and kiss their foreheads and give them hugs.

Also, Leo is so affectionate to kids and his brothers??? My heart??? Couldn't take it??? He just randomly hugs them?? He had a tea party??? He wore a pink feather boa? The way he just immediately held baby Miwa??? Too good. Too good. He's such a good big bro.

Raph is also such a soft guy. Like yes he's a Butthead that beats up his brothers and takes every single violent urge out on Leo when he's even minorly inconvenienced but he does learn to do better. He helps Leo a lot and he even is there for the others a lot too.

Raphael also does art and seems to like fine arts.

Raph, like Leo, is a resident baby man. He loved tiny helpless creatures. He had a pet turtle he loved with his entire being and then later on adopted a space alien baby turtle that he also loved with his entire being.

I love Donnie in this, his cute little tooth gap, his gentle demeanor, the fact he'd rather be in the lab than training. I feel bad for him tho cause he clearly wants Splinter and Leo's approval with his inventions and efforts but very rarely gets it (Leo is the only one to really praise him and get what he does). He's also a good team player but he has so much stress and no confidence.

Donnie needs a big ol hug.

Mikey is so cute. But he is so weird. Why did they write girly pop collecting underwear. Why did they have him cannibalize a mutant pizza man? They do the most random things with Mikey. I like that he avidly tries cheering ppl up. He tries so hard for his bros. He's just a sweet little guy. I wish they did more with the baby bro.

Mikey should have kept his lightning powers.

They fight a lot but all the brothers love each other. I think they're just stressed and cooped up too much.

I like drama tho it's juicy when they argue.

I read on the wiki that Donnie is supposed to be canon OCD and Mikey canon ADHD and it makes so much sense in the show.

I really like all their voices. I miss Leo's first voice he was so dorky and sweet. The new voice is all sad and serious. Raph sounds perfect. I like Donnie's voice but instead of him always yelling why not have him do the low angry science rant because that's a good time. I like Mikey's voice he sounds like a high pitched beast boy.

But despite the occasionally baffling writing choices of the show I still like it. It's entertaining in the same way as a telenovela or kdrama. They literally have a plot where one of the turtles falls in love with his secret half sister. Something I've seen in telenovelas and kdramas.

2012 tmnt makes a great dogblooded drama.

I think the CGI art can get pretty bad at times but other times it looks great. The music is pretty good and I really like the voice cast. I actually totally see why so many people like this show but I definitely don't think it's the best one. From what I've seen thus far, I think the 2003 TMNT show might actually be a masterpiece. Better than Avatar the Last Airbender levels of masterpiece (not a competition just giving an example of another show I find monumental).

Akumatized: Valid Or Not Part 2

This is part 2 of my previous list of every akumatized that has appeared so far. There will be four types of categories that they will be put into that say whether or not their reason for being akumatized was valid or not.

Categories:

1. Valid- The reason they were akumatized is completely understandable and could happen to anyone.

2. Semi-Valid- It is still understandable, but for things that are relatively normal. Like losing a contest, being rejected by a crush, or failing a test.

3. You Brought This On Yourself- Akumatized over something that was basically their fault to begin with and is not valid at all.

4. What The Hell- An akumaization that makes no sense at all and most likely not really much of a reason to be akumatized in the first place.

Season 4:

Luka Couffaine/Truth- Valid. Was rightfully upset because of the number of lies he was told by Marinette. And most likely also upset that even while she was dating him, Marinette was still interested in Adrien.

Kagami Tsurugi/Lies- Valid. Was rightfully upset after she caught Adrien in lies he had to tell because of his duties as Cat Noir. Wanted to get rid of all the lies of the world.

Alya Cesaire/Juleka Couffaine/Alix Kubel/Rose Lavillant/Mylene Haprele/Gang of Secrets- Valid. They were snapped at by their close friend even when they just wanted to help. They wanted to learn her secret so that they could help her.

Xavier Ramier/Mr.Pigeon 72- Valid. Was rightfully upset because Bob Roth fired him while also going back on his word that he would help make a pigeon sanctuary.

Harry Clown/Psycomedian- Valid. Wanted to prove that he could do more than just comedy while was also upset that Bob rejected his superhero idea for a movie.

Wang Fu/Furious Fu- Valid. Even when he had no memory of being the guardian, he was still confronted by Su Han and had his walking stick stolen. Su Han had also insulted the woman he loved.

Zoe Lee/Sole Crusher- Valid. Was bullied by Chloe for having an artistic side while was also given bad advice from Andre that she had to hide who she really was and change in order to be accepted by the family.

Chloe Bourgeois/Queen Banana- You Brought This On Yourself. Was rightfully taken off a movie she tried to take over to give herself an even bigger ego. Falsely believed "her" role was taken from her by Zoe.

Gabriel Agreste/The Collector- You Brought This On Yourself. Created a senti-monster of himself to akumatize. He also wanted to punish Felix for stealing one of the family rings.

Andre Bourgeois/Malediktator and Mega Leech- You Brought This On Yourself. Refused to listen to logical reasoning about how his plans would ruin the environment and wanted everyone to just go along with his plans.

Juleka Couffaine/Reflekta- Valid. Felt guilty over revealing Rose's secret, which caused everyone to treat Rose differently even though she knew Rose wanted to keep her secret so that no one would treat her that way.

Jagged Stone and Anarka Couffaine/Guitar Villain and Captain Hardrock- Semi-Valid. Both were convinced that the other was responsible for their break-up, but they also refused to communicate properly and instead just yelled at each other.

Audrey Bourgeois/Style Queen- Semi-Valid. Was humiliated on live television, but she also mostly deserves it for being a horrible person.

Andre The Ice Cream Man/Glaciator- You Brought This On Yourself. He tried to force his own beliefs about Ladybug and Cat Noir being "meant to be" while also tried to force Marinette and Cat Noir apart.

Markov/Robostus- Valid. Was purposely given a virus that caused him to become angry so that he could be akumatized.

Nino Lahiffe/Rocketear- Semi-Valid. Was upset because he thought a hero he admired was flirting with his girlfriend, but he also did not think to ask his girlfriend about it.

Alec Cataldi/Wishmaker- Valid. Had been forced to give up his own childhood dream while also felt bad for treating people horribly through his TV career.

Rolland Dupain/Simpleman- Semi-Valid. Was forced to look after four unruly kids while was also upset at the "overly complicated" world. But, he also refused to simply accept the world's advancements.

Sabine Cheng/Qilin- Valid. Was wrongfully accused of a crime by an obviously racist man and wrongfully arrested by the corrupt Raincomprix.

Dupain-Cheng family/Dearest Family- Semi-Valid. Rolland wanted to control Marinette, Tom wanted to protect Marinette no matter what, Gina wanted to give Marinette all the freedom she wanted, and Sabine wanted Marinette to make her own choices.

Bob Roth/Moolak- What The Hell. He lost one coin and was akumatized over it. I honestly don't have much to say about this one.

Adrien Agreste/Ephemeral- Valid. Was taken advantage of by his father when he akumatized him while he was vulnerable from seeing his mother's body.

Chloe Bourgeois/Penalteam- You Brought This On Yourself. Did not want to play soccer simply because she did not want to get her hands dirty.

Froggy/Risk- Semi-Valid. Wanted to prove to his overprotective parents that he could ride his bike without training wheels or a helmet, but was still a little kid that needed to wear a helmet.

Season 5:

Tomoe Tsurugi/Ikari Dozen- You Brought This On Yourself. Allowed herself to be akumatized in order to test the Alliance Rings.

Denis Damocles/Darker Owl- You Brought This On Yourself. Wanted to be the only superhero Paris needed, but was still just an old man with no actual hero skills.

Veronique/Manipula- Valid. Had her best exhibit and her museum shut down because the mayor bent to the will of his brat of a daughter simply because she did not want the heroes she hated to be honored.

Natalie Sancoeur/Safari- Valid. Wanted to take the miraculous for herself to end Gabriel's obsession and keep Adrien safe from his father.

Jalil Kubel/Pharaoh- Semi-Valid. Missed his sister and wanted her to come home, refusing to believe she would leave their family willingly. But, refused to listen to his father telling him the truth and chose to listen to online hero-haters.

Andre The Ice Cream Man/Glaciator- You Brought This On Yourself. Still wanted to force Ladybug and Cat Noir together while also still wanting Cat Noir and Marinette apart.

Kouki/Kiku- Semi-Valid. Was embarrassed by a picture posted of his defeat at Nora's hands, but also was a little sexist over being defeated by a girl.

Chloe Bourgeois- You Brought This On Yourself. Willingly got akumatized just because she was prevented from throwing a tantrum by her sister.

Kagami Tsurugi/Ryukomori- Valid. Was lied to by Lila while also being forced by her mother's teachings that she needed to be nothing but perfect.

Bob Roth/Gold Record- You Brought This On Yourself. Was rightfully called out over his manipulation of Kitty Section with Luka refusing to bend to his will.

Le Chien Kim/Dark Humor- Semi-Valid. Was rightfully called out for cruel pranks, but he honestly believed that his pranks were harmless.

A.D.A/Bugfighter- Valid. Had her technology manipulated in order to make her believe she had lost her pilot.

Kagami Tsurugi/Riposte Prime- Semi-Valid. Was manipulated by Lila into wanting to protect Adrien from Marinette, but also completely forgot everything good she had seen about Marinette with her own eyes.

Sabrina Raincomprix/Vanisher- Semi-Valid. Was so focused on keeping her toxic "friendship" with Chloe that she went through with a plan she and Lila made to frame Marinette.

Tomoe Tsurugi/Matagi Gozen- Semi-Valid. Wanted to rescue her daughter after she was kidnapped by Felix, but also wanted complete control over her daughter.

Lila Rossi/Hoaxer- You Brought This On Yourself. Wanted revenge against Marinette while also wanted to get back at Gabriel for replacing her with Kagami as an Alliance avatar.

Juleka Couffaine/Reflekta- Valid. Was going to be forced to repeat the school year because of Lila and Chloe's fake career forms.

Caline Bustier/Miss. Sans-Culotte- Valid. Wanted to end the corruption that was centered around Chloe and her father.

Chloe Bourgeois/Queen Mayor- You Brought This On Yourself. Willingly akumatized so that she could be the only one in Paris with power and could act without consequences.

Gabriel Agreste/Nightormentor- You Bought This On Yourself. Akumatized himself to give the world nightmares for his and Tomoe's Alliance plan.

Bertrand King/King of Plastic- You Brought This On Yourself. Rightfully called out for the pollution his products caused, but wanted to remain rich because of his plastic products.

8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?

the uwubification of babygirl anakin skywalker. again, everyone is free to do whatever they want, write whatever they want to write, but... anakin isn't some helpless victim who cries pretty and needs to be saved. he made CHOICES out of his own free will, and his tragedy lies in that he could've done better but he chose not to.

stop taking away anakin's agency in his own selfishness. he is a brat, and he's compassionate and kind, but he's also greedy and cruel when he wants to be.

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?

this is actually an obikin hc i have but i'm going to put it here bc is about competent anakin: obi-wan can't cook for the life of him and anakin is the one in charge of their meals (when they're just the two of them in the temple)

hmmm i suppose maybe stripper au’s bc i simply cannot imagine myself in a scenario where im a stripper or going to a strip club where the character is the stripper so i just don’t rly read those / plan on writing them

the only acceptable driver to mercedes rumors i want to hear about is mika hakkinen to mercedes

See mika’s nice and all but he also has said a lot of not great stuff about Lewis so I don’t want him to touch lewis’ car either, put him in a McLaren if he really wants to go back.

I want Sakhir 2020, the expanded series. Put George in Lewis’ car figuratively, and VB back in his. It would probably be a train wreck but at least it would be FUN. Same with Este. Even Yuki out of RB and into Merc for a true wildcard.

Fred is sensible to me personally if they aren’t getting him a Williams seat to train in, straight to a top car might not be good for career longevity but it’s an option for Merc if they want something short term before the 26 reg change. No option is perfect for me bc none of them are Lewis, but there’s a fair few I want to fuck right off.

dude why are all the cool characters becoming assholes…

like,,, i thought robby and hawk were super cool and some of my favourite characters but now theyre just assholes. also i fucking hate tory. why do they try to portray her in a good life, literally theyre going against their own saying of “everyone has a sob story, that doesnt excuse you to be a bully”. i absolutely LOVE and ADORE mrs larusso and sam. i feel so bad for sam shes literally traumatized, i also feel so bad for miguel cus he literally JUST got his legs back and is already like trying to jump straight into karate again, like dude take it slow. i love miguel. i have my ups and downs with both Daniel and Johnny, but overall i think they are pretty good written characters.

i hope Kreese burns in hell i hate him with all my guts he honestly makes me want to not watch the show. same with tory.

anyway, i want hawk and robby to be good characters again.

also i think we need some lgbt characters? (am i insane is there actually some and am i just missing them???? idk)

who is the night owl/early bird? 

Todd is more of a ‘love to sleep’ guy so neither. Todd can never sleep too much. Neil on the other hand, thinks sleep is a ‘waste of time’ so he’s both.

who takes the long shower/who sings in the shower?

Todd takes longg showers, so long to the point Neil has to knock and ask him if he’s alright. Neil absolutely sings even if he doesn’t think he’s that good.

who is the fun parent/who is the responsible? 

They’re both responsible, but i feel A) it depends on the child and B) Neil is considered to be ‘more fun’ because he’s more goofy. 

who’s the better cook? 

TOOD LOVES BAKING BUT CAN’T COOK WHILE NEIL CAN COOK BUT NOT BAKE CHANGE MY MIND-

who starts yelling first? 

Neil. He’d probably not even realize it as first though. 

Todd just kind puts his head down and takes it because he knows Neil just needs to let it out. 

Neil would also be the first to slam the door (he has a thing for the dramatics even subconsciously.)

Todd usually sleeps on the couch until Neil comes back. and apologizes only to find Todd crying.

He hates being yelled at. His dad used to yell at him because he was ‘worthless.’

who would make a playlist for the other person?

Todd would first but be discrete about it while Neil would be the first to share it <3

any really specific writing opinions u wanna share? good or bad

My biggest take on writing atm is that it is just as important to read other people's work as it is to set aside time to write everyday. Every time I read I am learning new words, different ways to write tropes, different ways to show instead of tell, etc.

If you do not read or absorb other people's content you limit yourself so much. The beautiful thing about works that are Avant Garde, new to their times, or truly impactful, is they are works that represent a writer's repertoire of knowledge. Someone's Magnum Opus isn't incredible because they just had all that information in their own head. It's cause they pulled inspiration from others. Whether that be reading, talking to/interviewing people, and their own life experiences.

Set aside time outside your writing time to just enjoy stuff, that's the best way to feed your creative brain. A prompt doesn't need to come from Tumblr or anywhere else on the internet! It can come from seeing the way kids play at the park you were walking through, seeing the way a husband looks at his wife (or significant other/husband) with an expression you can only describe as true, unadulterated love, something as simple as a group of friends walking through a busy downtown. I mean heck, Toothless's playfulness was inspired by one of the animators cats! There's so much possibility out there!

Y’know, since today is the anniversary of the start of Hannah and Ulrich’s affair, I want to say two things that bothered me. First, while I love the affair as a messy dramatic plot, I think having them end up together in Eva’s world kind of ruined it for me. Hannah was never supposed to “win”. Ulrich was only using her for sex, and the tragic part of it was she loved (or convinced herself she loved) him. They were on two completely different pages and it would almost make you pity her if she wasn’t so completely awful (and yet she’s my favorite now, so go figure). The second is, if that already had to happen, and they already had to have him cheat again, I wish they’d made his affair with Charlotte an emotional one. I’m sorry, with all the outlandish stuff happening in this show, the one thing I could not buy was Charlotte sleeping with Ulrich. And yes, emotional affairs are still affairs, but I think that plot would’ve been more effective, since she and Ulrich did have that sort of connection as confidantes in Adam’s world as well. Plus it would be a nice juxtaposition to the purely physical affair he had with Hannah.

phase 1 my favourite phase when it comes to art and lore

demon days is my fav album, self-titled is a close second

ghost train is an absolute banger

g-sides and d-sides are underrated asf like if you ignore the remixes they've got some bangers

i wish they made more g-bites

tbh, i'm not too fond of phase 3, plastic beach is a good album (allbeit a tad overrated) and all and i love the artsyle and the lore had alot going for it - it's just not my cup of tea

phase 4 is mid

i like phase 6, it has these chill, wholesome vibes which are very much my thing

murdoc gets way too much attention from jamie, especially nowadays, i feel like it's part of why 2-D is so lowkey flanderised and russel and noodle ended up fading in the background

that being said, it is nice to see that the others are getting more attention in the current phase

demon days (the song) is SO UNDERRATED WTF like its one of their most beautiful songs and yet nobody talks about it??? it legit made me almost tear up the first couple of times and that's rare for me - melancholy hill could never

glitter freeze is one of very few gorillaz songs i can say i hate - it's literally an assault to the ears

people underestimate how demon days, message-wise, aged like fine wine bc it was relevant when it first came out and it's especially relevant nowadays

i like the fall, sue me
