My heart’s cage, fragile.
Home to hummingbird softness
And iron will.

Hey everyone, I’m rebranding a bit so this account will no longer have any of my poetry or original content. Please pop on over to my new account @rowanpoet or follow my tag #rowanpoetry.
I will be reposting all my previously posted poems as well as new content so bare with some of the repeat stuff.
Thank you for the support and the love you’ve shown, I’m hoping this new direction will help my words reach and resonate with more people.
Love you all!🌻

Meet Me
Meet me where the sun meets
the horizon and color erupts
into the space between them.
Meet me in those moments where
the ocean meets lands and our
footprints are left in our
wake.
Meet me in those moments where
waking gives way to dreaming,
consciousness yielding to
unconscious.
Meet me there, in those moments
in between, of misfit, of
off-kilter passion.
Meet me there and there I
shall hold you for all time.
Meet me there.

I hesitate, balking at the
sight of orange pill bottles.
Tiny white pills with the
power of god stamped across
their chalky white bodies.
I hesitate, fearing the cost
of a healthy mind, will be
my writers soul.
After all, what else is there
left to write about when
the sadness is bled dry and
the darkness abates?
What am I, if I'm not a sad
poet with a tragic mind.

Gale force and fierce, brace yourself,

I trace the curvature of your spine,
while you lay on your side, in my head
and watch as hundreds of tiny goose
bumps spread across your skin in the
wake of my phantom touch.
I can’t tear my eyes away from the way
your chest rises and falls with your
breath.
I love the way your breath hitches
in your throat when my lips touch your
neck and how I can practically feel
your eyes roll back in your head when
I bite down.
It’s the way our bodies react to one
another, fuel to the fire.
A magnetism that leaves us breathless,
but still hungry for more.
A desire that gnaws unending and yet
still surges butterflies to overrun my
core.
God, how you’ve made me come undone.

I find my love here.
Hidden beneath our warm sheets,
Buried in your heart.

Be found in gentle touches
Love found in your palms.

Darkling I listen.
The moon’s lament, sweet keening.
Our waltz amongst graves.

I brought home yellow flowers
today, they reminded me of
the sun.
The way it used to shine on
you while you wave goodbye on
your steps.
The way you seemed to be able
to catch its light in your eyes
when you smiled.
I brought home yellow flowers
today and they stood beside
my bed.
Soft petal heads watching
over my sleep with the same
vigilance that you had when
you watched us play.
I brought home yellow flowers
today because I could not
bring you.
Bulbs of gold and canary to
ease the shades of blue in
my heart.
The blooms gentle caress,
were the last kiss goodbye
to rest on tear stained cheeks.
I brought home yellow flowers
today and laid you down to rest.
-- Dedicated to G.G.H.

Angel of my dreams
Watch over me, for I fear
This strength will fail me.
