Toxic Liquid

Today i’m feeling something not so sweet

Something bubbly

But not too bubbly

I’m only going to drink a few

Just going to relax 

A few go down and i’m finally starting to feel confident

Confident enough to almost,

Almost feel comfortable in my own skin

So i drink another

I’m feeling light

I’m almost feeling pretty

Drink another sip

Woah,

Another one empty

I sit there,

Empty handed

I look around,

I feel like i can almost belong somewhere

I grab another

It glides down my throat,

No objection

I’m feeling good

I feel light and happy

Who cares if i can belong,

Or do

I am me

I am good as i am

I tip back another one

The pain from the past is there, 

Bearable and ever so present

Tip it back some more

No i don’t want to remember that

No i don’t want to feel that

Drink some more,

It’ll all go away

Find that happy medium

It’s there, i swear it is

More liquid gold glides down my throat

Tip toeing on the darkness

It’s there,

Acknowledge it

But don’t succumb to it

Just a little more

You’re fine, Just fine

Dancing

And singing

Time of your life

Smiles everywhere

Everyone is where they belong

You look down

Your hand shakes

You look around

Get a hold of yourself

You’re fine

You find it harder and harder to believe in your own smile

It starts to fade

Tip back some more

The darkness is there

You’re surrendering

It feels so good

But so bad

It’s got a hold

But you refuse the hands around your neck

Sip back some more

Boom

You’re lost

In the past,

in the unknown

The darkness has you 

You allow it

Drink some more

Feel less

Yet feel it all at once

A mac truck

Demolishing everything in it’s wake

You’re gone

Too far gone

Blank stare

Wobble this way,

Wobble that way.

No one likes you,

You don’t even like yourself

Take another sip

Who cares

No one cared from the start

Too far gone,

A black cloud overtaking yet again 

Letting yourself subside 

Storm clouds rain throughout your head

The thunder demands to be felt

Your consciousness rattles

The lightening strikes

A florescent blue blinding you

Leaving nothing but darkness in its wake

Moments I Find You Most Beautiful

When you are washing dishes, I’ve concluded that this is the most beautiful I’ve ever seen you. The faraway look in your eyes, or the quiet humming of tunes I soon won’t remember, that’s when I find you the most beautiful.

No, when you are reading a book with glasses perched high upon the bridge of your nose underneath the glow of the yellow light, that’s the most beautiful I’ve ever seen you. The way your mouth forms choked up words upon your throat, or the cute pout that makes way when you’re in deep concentration, that’s when I find you the most beautiful.

Or maybe I find you the most beautiful when your eyes turn into crescent moons and your laugh fills the room quietly, then all at once. Your once stoic face now takes on one of joy and happiness as you try to cover your smile— which I love by the way— with the palms of your delicate hands.

I’d love to stick by your side for as long as I can, and continue to pick out moments of when I find you the most beautiful than anything I’ve ever witnessed.

the pain was unbearable

the weight I carried wouldn’t allow me to walk

it was like jumping into the water

knowing that you can’t swim

and letting yourself sink to the bottom.

no one saw me drowning

no one saw me crawling in my skin

i did what society said

i put on a mask and didn’t let anyone in

no one saw it

and you can’t save someone that doesn’t want to be saved

and you can’t fix something that is beyond broken

i was kept hostage in my own mind 

“think happy thoughts” they all said

but I can’t think of the fireflies in mason jars that I used as night lights

without being reminded

why I was so afraid of the dark
