I was thinking and I've come to the realization that people do not truly understand the damage that incest and rape does to you. They think they do, they think it's about forbidden romance and desire so strong that you can't help yourself but it's not. It's about control and power, about someone in a position over you deciding that your bodily autonomy and mental well-being come second to them. And it scares me that you can't say, "please do not sexualize abuse" without facing backlash on a website with this many survivors.

my parents during all of my formative years: there's something fundamentally wrong with you. you're unlovable and nobody will ever want you. you are a waste of space and shouldn't exist.
me, for the rest of my life: hm, I wonder why I feel like there's something fundamentally wrong with me and I'm unlovable and a waste of space. It's a mystery.

AU, where Blackinnon raises Harry - Sirius bought Harry a leather jacket for his birthday, and when Ginny's birthday came along, Harry insisted he had to gift her a leather jacket because she loved his so much… he also got her a little heart necklace. Ginny was ecstatic when she opened her present and hugged Harry tightly, tackling him to the ground and kissing his cheek, leaving him stunned and blushing with a goofy look on his face. Sirius and Marlene knew that day their godson was goner, and James's claim about Potter having a thing for redheads was 💯 true. It was the same look James had when Lily kissed him for the first time. Right after tackling Harry, Ginny gave her sunglasses to Arthur to transform into frames like Harry’s while she hurried inside to put on Ron's black t-shirt, which Molly shortened to fit her better. She insisted they had to match, and she asked Sirius to take a picture of them. Sirius had a lump in his throat when he took this photo because, just like James used to stare at Lily instead of the camera, Harry was doing the exact same thing with Ginny. It took Marlene five tries to get Harry to look at the camera, and Ginny, who kept giggling at the way Harry was looking at her with a dopey smile.

I don't know how much more explicit the message of "THIS IS GROOMING" could have been without Be On Cloud superimposing it in all-caps text over every one of Non and his teacher's scenes. People interpreting that as "cheating" are cracked in the fucking head.

I’ve seen a lot of people say that Padme’s death was Anakin’s breaking point/what pushed him past the point of no return but I honestly think that his breaking point was when Obi Wan said “you were my brother Anakin, I loved you.” Throughout their on screen relationship we see Anakin constantly striving for Obi Wan’s approval and love, whether he admits it or not. At the beginning of aotc Anakin literally tells Obi Wan that he sees him as a father figure. However, after Anakin’s mother dies there is a noticeable strain in relationship, which is probably due to Palpatine’s influence. Anyways, throughout the clone wars we constantly see Palpatine messing with Anakin’s perception of the Council and Obi Wan, making Anakin feel like he needs to prove himself in order to gain their trust/approval/love.
(Admittedly, Obi Wan did not really do a great job of making Anakin feel appreciated or loved either, especially with the whole Rako Hardeen thing. I think part of it is also that they have very different love languages too. Obi Wan seems to be more of an “acts of service” and “quality time” type of person while Anakin is a “words of affirmation” and “gift giving” type of person.)
I think at the end of the day, Anakin was looking for someone to give him some sort of paternal love and he needed some sort of verbal confirmation about it. Which is exactly what Palpatine gives him. Meanwhile, Anakin seems sort of resigned to his relationship with Obi Wan and he has a consistent belief that Obi Wan thinks the worst of him. This is briefly disputed in RotS when Obi Wan says he’s proud of Anakin and that Anakin is a great jedi, but I think his confrontation with Palpatine sort of shook that conversation from his mind. Furthermore, Anakin’s conversation with Mace Windu probably made Anakin feel like none of the council trusted him or took him seriously (which contradicts his earlier conversation with Obi Wan).
Also, trust goes both ways. Since the council had such a mistrust of Anakin, he felt like he couldn’t go to them with his issues, or like they were hiding information from him. But with Palpatine, he had to put his trust into the idea that he means something to Anakin and that he’ll be able to get him to fall. Palpatine doesn’t have to be coerced or found out by Anakin, he just straight up tells him that he’s a sith, which is an extreme risk to make. When presented with the option of entrusting the council (who does not extend the same trust to him) or Palpatine, the man who groomed him into feeling like he had no other options, he’s obviously going to pick Palpatine.
But here’s where Anakin’s breaking point comes in, after Anakin kills the Separatists, after he chokes Padme, after he kills the padawans, after he accepts Palpatine’s offer, after fighting Obi Wan and getting his limbs chopped off, after all that Obi Wan looks Anakin in the eyes and tells him that he was his brother, and he loved him. After all the heartache Anakin went through, after all the times he felt like he wasn’t enough for Obi Wan, after all the times he felt like he couldn’t confide in Obi Wan (and confided in Palpatine instead), after resigning himself to the idea that he’ll never have Obi Wan’s love or approval, that’s when Obi Wan reveals that he had it the entire time, that he cared for Anakin just as much as Anakin cared for him, that he had truly believed in Anakin and trusted him, that the distance between them had hurt Obi Wan too, and that Obi Wan was distraught to be opposing Anakin, that Obi Wan didn’t want to be Anakin’s enemy but Anakin hadn’t given him a choice because he thought he’d already known how Obi Wan felt. It must’ve broke Anakin to yearn for Obi Wan’s love for so long, and only realize he’d had it the whole time, and now he’ll never have it again.
All those times Anakin had believed Obi Wan disliked him, that he didn’t care for him, that he’d hated him for all the mistakes he made, and it’s only after he makes a choice he can’t come back from, only after he decides to return Obi Wan’s “hatred”, that realizes that it was never the case at all. That Anakin was the one who drew the line the in the sand, that maybe their relationship had been cracking, but Anakin was one who looked at those cracks and had decided that it wasn’t worth the effort to mend, that it was better to throw it away. All the while Obi Wan had looked at those cracks and loved Anakin anyways. And maybes that’s what makes him finally break, maybes that’s why he yells that he hates Obi Wan, because maybe if Anakin had known, he could’ve saved the relationship on his end, and maybe if he’d trusted Obi Wan, then maybe they could’ve saved Padme together, and defeated the sith. But Obi Wan never told him, and now the both of them were stuck with ruins of their relationship, always wondering about what could’ve been.

My thoughts on Skirk
With the way Skirk treats and talks about him, its no wonder Tartaglia turned out the way he did. A bright and naive 13 yr old boy with no combat experience falls away from the comfort of his home into a world full of monsters with no sun or safety and the only psuedo-caretaker he has won't even speak to him properly because she says him as too weak to bother with, and after 3 months of fighting his way through hell and losing his humanity, he returns to that home he was longing for, only to find that 3 days have passed since he left and he tells not a single person what happened to him. No wonder he lost his mind down there.
I miss the Skirk that I had made up in my head, the one I patched together from different fic writer and fan artists ideas for her, the one that had that same rambunctious and bloodthirsty personality that Tartaglia inherited, the one that took care of a child the best she knew how while hardening him to survive the abyss' dangers, the one that at least *tried*, because she *wanted too*.
I just feel disappointed, and I think a lot of other people are as well.
I think that, until we see her again, I'm just going to keep pretending that the one in my head is the real one.

Many times I've written scenarios where PK lays curled up around PV when they're sick or hurt (either physically or emotionally), or simply just bonding and lounging together as wyrms do. Finally decided to draw how I imagine how in the hell he's able to curl up around them with their height difference. The answer: Compress! That! Bug!
Plus, that stretch that cats do, with their legs stretched out and covering their muzzles with their paws? So cute, I imagine PV does that often
ID start: A pencil on paper doodle of the Pale King and The Hollow Knight / Pure Vessel from Hollow Knight. The Hollow Knight is curled up into a tight ball, their arms pressed close to their chest and legs pulled up close to their torso, with one leg tucked under their left arm. They're laying against their father, The Pale King, who lays with his tail curled around them, arms crossed over his chest and glaring at the viewer or somebody just off-screen. End ID.

The Pure Vessel is stretching while laying on their back, their muzzle pulled in close to their chest with their hands laid on top of it, and their legs outstretched. They're leaning against their father, The Pale King, who lays curled up around them with his head laid on his arms, one of his eyes barely open as he looks at his child. End ID.

Pjo fans saying as a theme of posts 'what a tragedy is that Percy couldn't save Luke😭' now is so fucking sick and highkey twisted.'Couldn't save him'?Since when is the job of kids to save adults from their own trauma instead of the other way around?I mean Percy did that just fine!He saved Nico,he saved Hazel,he saved all the CHB kids by sticking around to care for them even if he's not a year rounder and he's been saving people his whole life by being a bully beater who encourages victims to love themselves for being weird and nobody saved PERCY then. No,Sally dosen't count, because the bullying and Smelly Gabe's at home abuse still happened with her around and that's not her fault or a flaw on her part,it's the system's and Gabe's and DID do her best for him and he correctly thinks she IS the best for it so he grew up to be seen as the best his found siblings and pseudo-kids too and they're all also correct
And right, tell me what Luke did for Percy to even make him want to save him to begin with?Their entire dynamic was gaslighting and child grooming to leave Percy all alone with a crime he didn't commit to the gods,Luke loud and proud announced that in the TLT finale while being a grown ass 19 year old traumadumping to his 12 year old summer camp 'friend'.Even they really WERE friends,it still should've been Luke to save Percy, just like it's MY job as an adult to save my actual friends who're kids from what's been done to them by their abusers and i'm happy to because i genuinely love them as people and see them as my younger siblings as much as i do my bio ones, who i've also helped grow up with self-worth and defense mechanisms against shitty people.I'm an eldest,it's in me to and i'm more like Percy than Luke could ever be so stick to your lil oink oink child military creating in his 20s minor-coded sellout and leave Percy out of it so he can move on with his life since Luke was the one who ruined it to begin with and kept forcing it onto him, alright besties?I have links to actual anti-fascist tactics and history instead of just Karl Marx memes if you feel like reading them to put on a break on the 'dark smut' too💕

Chat Blanc and Ephemeral do NOT work as proof for why Adrien should never find out about Gabemoth, or why the love square identity reveal shouldn't happen.
They only demonstrate why Gabriel shouldn't find out that Adrien is Chat Noir.
Because he will then be able to plan and play out how to dump the Gabemoth and corpse mom reveal onto unsuspecting Adrien the most manipulative, traumatic way possible, with the explicit purpose and plan to akumatize him. And, at least in Ephemeral (Chat Blanc is unclear), he still needed to actually mind control Adrien too, it seemed like he would have resisted otherwise.
If the narrative allowed Adrien the growth to accept that his father is abusive, and capable of being a supervillain, if Adrien was allowed to have the character development to process this on his own terms, then he could have been the one to figure out Gabemoth's identity. It would have been more meaningful, and done more for his character arc, than anyone else making that discovery. It would have connected an important personal breakthrough (abuse victim starting to become a survivor by comprehending that they were abused) with an important plot breakthrough (ladynoir finding out who their enemy is). It would have meant that Adrien, who's been forcibly reduced towards blank, passive "perfection" and significantly denied agency and the capacity to have a meaningful impact, could contribute something even if he then wouldn't be able to directly fight against his father.

A lot of discussion involving minors safety online has people saying a lot “just don’t let kids online at all, or control and monitor all their online activity, simple as.”
That argument just uh. Completely relies on parents to not be abusive and bigoted. Which most parents nowadays are.

Abusive parents teach you to hide and be ashamed of your problems so heavily that by the time you get trauma symptoms, it doesn't even cross your mind that this is something serious that you should tell someone and ask for help with. All that crosses your mind is 'fuck, how do I hide this from everyone.'

my ultimate take on spottedleaf's heart is that I don't think hard topics are necessarily out of place in a children's story. unfortunately, many children will go through some bad shit in their lives. warrior cats already has really hard topics in it like imperialism, prejudice, murder, war, miscarriage, bullying, domestic abuse, and cheating, just to name a few. of course... it doesn't handle many of these well, because warrior cats is just... Like That, as we know. but in a hypothetical world where warrior cats approaches all of these tough topics with respect and care, i think that showing a creepy, predatory relationship like the one between spottedpaw and thistleclaw could actually be beneficial for young readers. spottedleaf's heart couldve been a story telling children "hey, if an adult acts like this to you, TELL SOMEBODY! IT'S NOT OKAY!" i think it couldve helped young readers in terrible, awful situations, to see a character going through what's happening to them, and to be told "this isn't okay. it doesn't matter who an adult is, if they are hurting you, it's not right, and you deserve to be safe. and if an adult ever acts like this, you should tell somebody you trust." i think that's like... a fine thing to tell kids, i don't consider that inappropriate. an alternate telling of spottedleaf's heart where bluefur, thrushpelt, sunstar, featherwhisker, adderfang, swiftbreeze, or any other adult in Spottedpaw's life sees what's happening to her and helps her, lets her know that it's not her fault? i think even if the topic is tough, that wouldve been a much better outcome for the story, and would be much more of a constructive message to give young readers who are going to relate to the protagonist who's their age. overall i just think the biggest issue is in execution and framing, making the overall message "spottedleaf was so foolish to fall in love with thistleclaw!!" instead of "spottedleaf was a victim of grooming, it's thistleclaw's fault for behaving inappropriately and hurting her because he's an adult"

I don't really subscribe to the "Mystra groomed Gale" fan theory (we know Larian is playing fast and loose with official Faerun timelines, but she only reappeared in 1487). Their relationship was more along the lines of a PhD candidate and their department chair is one of the top researchers in the field and their advisor, who initiates the relationship. (Or maybe he's among the top researchers, but she's the one who controls funding and grants and publishing and conferences.) He walked into that relationship flattered and thrilled and proud, only to realize after a while that Mystra is holding his metaphorical grades and thesis and future research opportunities hostage. And what is he if not his genius intellect?
Mystra's attention was flattering, but she could just as easily move on to the next hot young genius with the Weave. So he has to do the only thing he knows he is good for: be a genius with it. He wants knowledge (don't we all), she's rightfully gatekeeping it, and he knows that if he pushes, she'll toss him aside, frustrated with him. We get the impression that she only told him to stop wanting, but didn't give any reason why. Maybe Gale, in hubris, didn't listen. But no matter. Gale is convinced he's only good for his Magic, and Mystra is only with him for it, so he tries to do what any of us would do: impress her.
Why does Gale believe that he's only good for his Magic? Because society groomed him. Society viewed him as the genius wizard. Teachers only praised his abilities. He gets attention not for his other skills or personality traits, but because he's an eight year old who can cast Fireball with ease at at time when Mystra has barely started reconstituting herself. Society taught him the only thing people noticed was his skill. Look around at how many former gifted kids hit walls doing undergrad or grad school, don't understand how to take notes or how to study because it's always been innate, and burn out. Being able to read collegiate materials is no longer impressive when everyone is reading collegiate materials. A huge part of the identity of gifted kids, praised since childhood on their academic talents, gets lost when they hit this wall or realize they're no longer special. (Trust me, being teachers' pet and doing top-notch academically gives you an ego. Doubly so if your family are academics, which we have some evidence that Gale's family is at least moderately wealthy and/or connected with other mages.)
Is Mystra's relationship with ANY of her Chosen a good thing? I'd still say no, unless they both can keep it platonic and mentoring. (I had a great professor in college who did just that: mentored me. My high school physics teacher is still a friend. He was a guest at my wedding.) As soon as romance or sex enters that relationship, it's gonna be a bad time, even if the romance is one-sided on the part of the mortal. It's inherently difficult, shaky ground for a relationship, because of the power dynamics. If you piss her off enough, she can take your connection to the Weave away, and the closer you are to the situation, the more likely you are to think someone deserves punishment. And if she does punish you, it feels like not just a fall from grace but also like you are particularly a problem. There are evil mages all over, and Mystra hasn't taken their powers (the Weave is True Neutral, but still...you think every mortal mage is going to understand that if you eliminate the evil users it actually destabilizes the Weave?). She's the only god who can't really punish those that dramatically deviate from her alignment, because of what she is the god of. Think about that. Every other god can say "you are not following my rules, get out". She can only say that to her clerics and paladins (5e can kiss my ass, paladins need a patron to hear their promise), maybe to her Chosen, but certainly not to anyone who uses her power.
I love Gale, but this really puts things in a different light.

Please report @/ssmore-wurst. They’re a minor putting themselves (and others) in serious danger. Their pinned post says they’re a minor seeking out adults to be with (“AAM4MAP”) and they’re pro-contact. It sickens me to see this, because it’s very clearly a child that has been groomed into thinking these things are okay, and one that will be traumatized from this shit when they’re older. Keeping them and kids like them off the platform will help prevent predators from contacting them.
@staff You seriously need to ban the radqueer tags, because this is what happens when you don’t. Kids are getting hurt. Children are being groomed.
