every day i am out here consuming JGY meta from his fans because I want to see what you see. i am working so hard to try to understand things from his perspective bc he's my favorite version of the "villain becomes the thing they hated" arc of all time and the only time I've seen this trope done in an actually compelling way

“So, what are your plans for this evening?”
Bruce’s question had caught you off guard. Zoning out a while ago, you were only brought back to the reality of the Avengers conference room once you felt everyone’s gaze upon you. The meeting hadn’t started yet, and apparently the conversation had shifted to the subject of your birthday during the wait, much to your own chagrin.
“Climbing a mountain? Wrangling a wild lion? Threesome? Stop me when I’m getting warm,” Tony offered without looking up from his cell phone; even while not paying attention, he still needed to make the most entertaining guess possible.
Clint laughed as he twirled a pen between his fingers. “Angling for an invite?”
“Well, surely she’ll be reflecting on her triumphs and accomplishments over the past year. Isn’t that what mortals do on their birthdays?” Thor mumbled through a mouthful of several donuts. His question was a genuine one, and so was his smile; and he meant no harm, but it still made you shift uncomfortably in your seat.
“Only if Lady Gaga is the third,” Tony replied to Clint with a smirk. The conversation was already spiraling wildly out of control, and your throat was starting to dry up.
“Leave her be,” Natasha interrupted, sensing your discomfort from across the table. “You guys aren’t cool enough to hear about her birthday plans anyway…”
As you brought the coffee cup to your lips, Natasha shot you a wink, and you were grateful for the save. Truthfully, you hated your birthday and therefore had nothing on the agenda…other than your definitely exciting plans of catching some much-needed shut-eye and trying not to think too much about anything.
“Whatever her plans are, she’s definitely earned it. And we all wish you the happiest of birthdays,” Steve smiled reassuringly before clearing his throat to begin the meeting.
As he went on and on about intel reports and reminders about the importance of collateral damage mitigation, one pair of eyes continued to linger on you - soft, thoughtful, curious. He hadn’t said much during the previous conversation, but then again, he never did.
Instead, Loki preferred to study and listen, to learn whatever he could in the silence of everything left unsaid. And once the meeting finally adjourned, you silently retreated to your private quarters, eager for the silence where no one would expect you to say anything.
The evening snow had cocooned the city in a blanket of chilled warmth, cozy and elegant and quiet. There were no sirens and emergencies that night; it was so cold outside that even villains and criminals couldn’t be bothered to stir up trouble.
Snuggled up tight in your bed inside Stark Tower with your phone on silent mode, you drifted in and out of consciousness - thinking about everything that had passed you by, dreaming about what you’d never be able to accomplish. You had made it to the Avengers Team, an impressive feat to be sure, but how long would that last?
Would you ever feel like you’d made it in a building surrounded by Gods and geniuses, miracles and champions? Would you ever find love? Did Avengers ever get a happy ending? Probably not…
The knuckles of a careful hand tapped on your door, rousing you from your thoughts. It was late - almost midnight, minutes away from not having to think about your birthday for another year.
Begrudgingly, you extracted yourself from the warm blankets and trudged to the door of your private quarters. The air was frigid and sharp, and you shivered as you brushed the hair out of your eyes and looked through the peephole.
Loki waited on the other side of the door, standing tall and regal, yet casual and sincere, all at the same time. And despite the late hour, or maybe even because of it, he looked even more beautiful than usual.
You had no idea why he was here; you hadn’t spent much time with him outside the confines of missions, but you always wished that was different. When he did speak up, he was clever and funny, and he seemed to be at least somewhat amused by you too. But he preferred seclusion, and so did you.
Swallowing hard, you scrambled to smooth out your wrinkled pajamas and comb your fingers through your messy hair, trying to appear at least somewhat put together as you pulled open the door.
“Apologies for the late intrusion, but…could I have a moment of your time?” he greeted, smiling an infuriating combination of charm and consideration.
You nodded and tried to ignore the butterflies in your belly as you stepped aside to let him in. “Yeah, of course. Sorry, I just got back from the, um…”
Loki followed you inside, his hands placed casually in his pockets as he looked curiously around your room. But his gaze returned to you as your voice trailed off, waiting patiently for you to continue.
“From the, um…place with the…” you trailed off again, trying to come up with an interesting thing you had done that night. Loki arched an eyebrow and an amused smile crept across his face as he watched you try to come up with a believable lie.
Sighing heavily and resigning to admit the truth, you collapsed down on the couch. “I didn’t go anywhere tonight. I really hate my birthday.”
Loki chuckled and sat down carefully next to you. “Yes, I’d gathered as much. It seems like birthdays are a mixed bag for humans…”
“Yeah, they really are…” you replied quietly, staring at your fingers as they pressed and fidgeted with one another. “Is it the same way with Asgardian birthdays?”
Loki shifted on the couch to lean back and cross his legs. “Well, we don’t really have a concept of birthdays where I’m from. After the first thousand or so, I’d imagine that they’d probably become incredibly…tedious,” he answered thoughtfully.
“Yeah, that makes sense…”
Silence descended upon you both, and you realized it was the first time you’d ever been alone with him. He smelled like an ancient forest and the spices of a distant land. It was comforting, and suddenly you couldn’t remember why you’d never invited him over before.
“So what is it about your special day that’s left you so melancholy?”
You laughed and shook your head as you leaned back too, staring up at the ceiling overhead. “You’re the God of Lies, and from what I’ve gathered, a quick study on humanity. So why don’t you tell me?”
“Well, from my thorough interrogations of other humans…” Loki smiled teasingly before letting out a deep breath. “I’d wager it has to do with the passage of time. The reminder of your own mortality. The pressures that society places on you to have the best day ever. When in reality, it’s just…another day one needs to make it through.”
You turned to look at him, and he met your gaze. His green eyes were beautiful, sparkling even in the low light of your quarters. “Mmm. You really are a quick study…”
“Well, I do what I can…” Loki hummed in response. His lips parted as if he wanted to say something else, and your breath hitched; but instead, he turned his head to look out the window.
Returning your attention to your hands, you tried not to think about what he was going to say, or what it meant that he was here. That you were alone together. That he was…trying to comfort you, in his own way.
“It’s a pity to waste all that…” he murmured absentmindedly as he pulled the curtains aside.
The snow was starting to pile up outside, and the sky was filled with fluttering sheets of crisp white, effortlessly dimming the lights of the city and making you feel like you two were the only ones left in the world. “Shall we go and have what you humans call a snowball fight?”
You laughed incredulously. “The God of Mischief wants to spend the last few minutes of my birthday having a snowball fight?”
Loki turned back to you with a playful grin on his face. It was intoxicating and delightful. “Why not? You seem like you could use a distraction. And what is mischief if not a distraction?”
You couldn’t help but smile, the biggest one you’d had all day. Loki returned your smile in earnest as he stood up, ready to go. He held his hand out for you to take it, and you couldn’t believe the blessing he was offering.
“Okay - but no magic. I am just a weak mortal, and it is still technically my birthday…” you teased, accepting his helping hand.
Loki laughed with a warm smile. “Agreed, I won’t use any magic. Wouldn’t want to humiliate you on your birthday, now would I?”
You really didn’t care whether you won or lost the upcoming fight. All that mattered was that you had a distraction - and Loki was the perfect one.

Family matters; Peter Quill x teen reader
*Author's note*
Well this request had been sitting in my inbox for awhile and I hope the anon who requested it is out there somewhere in the deep space of tumblr because I finally came around to writing it. It took some time due to life, work and moving houses during the holiday season but finally I was able to sit down and write this oneshot.
So as with any marvel oneshot there are some warnings of swearing, violence, and alluding to SA and r*pe but not on reader but a side character. So if the last warning triggers anyone just know it's not physically named but it is mentioned so I wont be butthurt of you wish to leave the story and not continue reading. Other than that I hope you all enjoy my darlings :)

“How is it that everytime I come up with a plan we always get what we want? But whenever it’s you who comes up with the plan, we get captured?!” Rocket exclaimed as he dangled upside down along with Peter.
“I already told you it was a face off!” argued Peter.
“And we’ve told you that a face off is a trap if you’re facing off against a stronger opponent!” Nebula snarled.
“It was a pretty convincing plan at first but now I agree with Rocket and Nebula, Peter.” Mantis said.
“You are a dumbass, Quill.” Said Drax.
The Guardians of the Galaxy had decided to help aid Thor in the case of the slaughtering of Gods.  Shortly after they had parted, they came across the Aztec God temples but were soon ambushed by the Knights of Huitzilopochtli.  Thinking he could go against the Aztec God of War, Peter decided to meet with the God himself in what he liked to call a ‘face off’, however Huitzilopochtli had no interest in making any sort of bargain or peace treaty, instead he now had Rocket and Peter dangling over a lava pit while Nebula, Mantis and Drax were bound in chains by their wrists and ankles on top of stone tables.
He would first sacrifice Rocket and Peter to lava pit, but not before cutting out their hearts and feeding them to his prized jaguars.
“Quill, if we get out of this alive I swear I’ll rip your face off!” Rocket snapped as he wriggled in the chains.
“Yeah, yeah and even if we die you’ll still rip my face off. Just-just—let me think.” Huitzilopochtli’s servants soon brought up three large cages that each contained a jaguar pacing aggressively in their cages.  Hungry for blood.
“Let the ritual begin!” Huitzilopochtli proclaimed.  The drums began pounding as the chanters did their ritual chant.  Soon the Jaguar Knight came forward with a five inch steel dagger in his hands.  Suddenly a metal wire shot out and knocked the dagger out of the jaguar knight’s hands.  He let out a jaguar-like hiss as he looked up only to be kicked in the face by a young woman in pure black and grey metal suit that fit her like a glove.  A metal knife suddenly extended out from the wrist gauntlets and she cut both Rocket and Peter free from their chains.
“Come with me if you want to live.” The mechanical voice from her helmet said.  It was all a blur to the Guardians, the rescue happened to fast they hardly knew that they were escaping.  Metal and rock had flew across the air and soon the jaguars had been released and were attacking anyone close by, devouring their flesh and feasting on their hearts.
When the Guardians finally got back to their ship and took off Mantis turned to the young woman and thanked her.
“We are grateful for your help in rescuing us.” The young woman touched the side of her helmet and it let out a hiss as it unhooked itself from it’s hinges and she removed her helmet to reveal a young teenage girl with what appeared to be a cybernetic gears infused around her left eye and across her forehead (almost like a circlet).
“No problem. Although I didn’t expect to go saving the Guardians of the Galaxy.”
“Okay first question, how much for the cybernetic circlet on your head?” asked Rocket.
“Rocket!” Mantis and Peter exclaimed.
“What?!”
“Hate to tell you this Rocket but this high-grade of metal is infused to my body.” She told them.
“Never stopped me before.” Shrugged Rocket.
“I am Groot!” Groot snapped.
“I think the main question is how did you know we were down at that ritual chamber?” asked Nebula suspiciously.
“Like I said before I didn’t. I originally went to Huitzilopochtli for a faulty deal on some priceless metal my mom had struck a deal with him. My aunt was originally going to take the job but I offered to go in her place. After all, no one suspects a young girl to do any harm, right?”
“That’s the ploy I’ve done in the past.” Said Nebula.
“After securing the right metal and making the point to never cross Zaofu again, that’s when I heard the drums and I saw you guys about to become his prized jaguar’s next meal. Lucky for us, those beasts don’t have any real loyalty to him.”
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, hold on just a second there kid. You said you came from Zaofu? As in the Zaofu?” asked Rocket in awe.
“The very same. Unless there’s another planet in the galaxy by that title.”
“What’s Zaofu?” asked Peter.
“Oh-ho! Next to Nidavellir, Zaofu is the second greatest planet to ever exist. It’s home to some of the strongest and rarest metal in the entire galaxy. I would very much like to go there.” Rocket boasted.
“He’s right.” Said Nebula.  “The metal from Zaofu is not only said to be the strongest but also the most durable. It’s where—Thanos gained some of my parts to make me better than Gamora.” She said looking down at her arm.
“I thought I had recognized that material. That’s our regenerative metal. Able to put itself back together no matter how extreme the damage. But we’ve only ever used that on people with birth defects or amputees. Had my mother known that it went to Thanos of all people, she’d never would’ve agreed. I’m sorry.”
“It’s fine. I’ve gotten used to it.” Nebula shrugged.
“I have to ask though, what is the Guardians of the Galaxy doing at the Temple of Huitzilopochtli? I mean I know you guys are willing to protect those throughout the galaxy but I didn’t think that included Gods of War.”
“It’s a long story.” Peter started off but Mantis said.
“We’re helping Thor with the God Killer.”
“Mantis!” hissed Nebula.
“What? She seems trustworthy.”
“God killer huh? That’s the first I’ve heard of it. I would’ve thought nothing could touch those deities.”
“So we thought too, but then we received a message from one of golden boy’s friends and apparently someone is literally slaughtering gods left and right. Already over 300 of them have been killed.” Explained Rocket.  The girl let out a low whistle and said.
“Hog-monkeys. Well if you’re going up against an opponent like that, you’re gonna need something a lot stronger to fight and protect yourselves with. Cause if you though old Huitzilopochtli was bad, you haven’t seen anything yet.”
“You saying you’re allowing us to come to Zaofu?” asked Rocket.
“If you’re still up for it.”
“Well let me ask the captain about that, oh yeah it’s me. Yes we’ll go!”
“Rocket how many times do I have to say it I’m the Captain.” Hissed Peter under his breath.
“You know you really shouldn’t talk that way about your Captain, Quill. By the way, you never told us your name girlie.”
“Oh right how silly of my. The name’s (Y/n) Beifong. Daughter of High Lady Suyin Beifong of Zaofu.” She introduced herself.
“Wait, Beifong? You mean the richest family in the galaxy Beifong?” asked Rocket.  “Say, do you think once we get you home and return the metal you’re people have been swindled out of, we could probably get a little reward for our part in the trade?” (Y/n) chuckled and said to him.
“Slow down there Captain, let’s just get back to Zaofu and talk to my mother about this. She’s the one in charge of the economy.” And with that the Guardians set course for the planet Zaofu.
It was a beautiful planet of green and earth all over the landscape.  Lakes and rivers so crystal clear, they reflected the very sky itself and it’s two suns gave plenty of light but no heat to the land.  As the Guardians soared over the land they soon came across an advanced city entirely made of metal.
“Agent to tower; this is Agent Beifong Badge #349876 requesting clearance to land. Tower guard this is Agent Beifong Badge #349876 requesting clearance to land.” (Y/n) said after punching in a few codes on the holographic pad in front of her.
‘Tower to Agent Beifong, your request is granted. Welcome home Princess.’ A male voice soon came up over the intercoms.
“Just take us West of the palace and land 50 degrees West heading 0-3-0.” She advised Rocket and Peter who nodded and together they followed her instructions and safely landed their ship on top of a large landing platform that stood just feet from a large skyscraper tower of the palace.  (Y/n) grabbed the metal from her ship (that had been piggy-backed in the Guardian’s ship’s lower decks).  Their ship opened up and they walked down the stairway and there stood to their right about ten guards all wearing the same metal tight uniform (Y/n) had on.
And just ahead of them stood two women.  One wore the exact same armor but over her left breast plate was a silver badge in the shape of a star while the other woman beside her wore dark green tunic that rested over her green pants and sleeveless shirt.  The tunic cover had a metal collar going around it with each plate slowly increasing in size before decreasing again as it came back around.
Much like (Y/n) a circlet rested over her head and she also wore gauntlets with metal plates in the shape of pentagons overlapping each other.  Both women looked fairly similar to each other in that both had greying hair but were fair looking, although the woman in the armor had a more gruff appearance to her while the other woman had a more gentle facial expression.
The guards all slammed their fists together, the metal from their armors sounding out a loud clank as they greeted the Princess on her safe return.  As (Y/n) and the Guardians stood before the two women, (Y/n) greeted them with a head bow.
“Chief, Mother. I have successfully secured the real metal we were promised and gave our message loud and clear to the War god Huitzilopochtli.”
“I never doubted you wouldn’t. You’re one of the best soldiers on the squad, and I’m not just saying that.” the woman in the black armor said.
“I’m just glad you’ve come home safely. And with some new friends I see.” The woman in the green tunic said.
“Yes, Mother, Chief Beifong, I’d like to introduce the Guardians of the Galaxy. They were prisoners of Huitzilopochtli when I went to secure the metal. About to be sacrificed to his prized jaguars. Guardians this is my mother and ruler of Zaofu Suyin Beifong, and my aunt and Chief of police, Lin Beifong.”
“That man knows nothing about diplomacy. Always kills first and asks questions later.” Suyin rolled her eyes.
“He is the God of War for a reason Suy.” Lin told her sister and she came up to (Y/n) and took the chess from her hands.  “I’ll take this down to our research facility.”
“Yes Chief.” (Y/n) bowed to her and both her aunt and the police force walked off towards the lab.
“Now I had asked this to your daughter earlier that since we helped your daughter recover some prized and rare metal that was promised to you, don’t you think we should be given a little compensation for helping her return what was rightfully meant to be yours?” asked Rocket as he rubbed his thumb, index and tall fingers together.
“Rocket!” exclaimed Mantis.
“How about this, we’ll talk about payment if you all stay for dinner and take some rest here tonight.” Suyin offered.
“As much as we appreciate that Lady Beifong…..” Peter started off only to be politely interrupted by Suyin.
“Please call me Suyin. Lady Beifong was my grandmother.”
“Suyin. We’re kinda in a tight schedule. Apparently someone’s killing gods and we promised not-very good looking Thor that we’d try and figure out who’s behind the killings.”
“Actually I might have some information in regards to that. But in order to go up against him, you’re gonna need some of our weapons and armor. Come, join me and my family for dinner and we’ll discuss everything.” With that suggestion and offer, the Guardians accepted Suyin’s offer and joined the Beifong family for dinner.
After coming to a negotiation, Suyin had her engineers and scientists build and forge the Guardians new weapons and tech to take down any gods like Huitzilopochtli’s forces and powers.  While observing the engineers add some new parts to their ship, Peter soon heard the sound of rocks being thrown around and crashing into a wall.
He went to investigate when he saw (Y/n) bending not only the rocks but metal as well.  Shooting out a metal wire to cut apart some trees and pull their branches off, or successfully transform the large boulders into various shapes before firing them at various targets.
“I thought I was going crazy at first seeing you do all that back at Jaguar-man’s palace.” She jumped and fired one of her metal wires which wrapped around Peter in a tight cocoon sending him on his back.
“Oh Star-lord, forgive me I tend to strike whenever someone surprises me like that.” She released her wires and they zipped back into her gauntlets while Peter assured her.
“No worries, I’ve had worse done to me before.” She helped him up and he asked her.  “So I’m guessing this is a normal after dinner activity for you?”
“I like to come out here to get away from it all. Don’t get me wrong I love my family to death but—sometimes I feel like I don’t belong here.”
“What do you mean?”
“Promise you won’t go blabbing to my mom about this?”
“Cross my heart.” Peter said as he crossed his heart for emphasis.  (Y/n) extended her hand and two small rocks slowly rose up from the ground over her palm and as she slowly wriggled her fingers, the rocks spun in a gentle circle around each other in a dance over her palm.
“Believe it or not, this ability I’m doing right now. I’m the only person in my family that can do this.”
“But don’t the Beifong family have the ability to control metal?”
“It’s true to a degree. The suit of armor that both me and my aunt Lin wear, it helps them control metal but without it, they’re powerless. Ever since I was a young girl and discovered I could bend earth to my will, my mother said it was because of my father’s gift. But the thing is, my father doesn’t have this ability, nor does anyone in his bloodline. I’ve tried to ask my mother for the truth but she always tells me that it’d be too much for me to bear.”
“So you think that your mom—”
“Cheated on her real husband? I doubt it, cause whenever I did ask about him in the past, there’s always this—pure hatred in her eyes. But she always told me that who he was didn’t matter. Baatar is my real father and my real brothers and sister are here. Aunt Lin is my real aunt and I am a Beifong through and through. But deep down I get this feeling that maybe I should make that decision for myself. On whether or not I should have the chance to meet him or not.”
“I get it. Sorta. I mean I thought that when I met my dad, he’d be everything I thought I’d ever longed for. Only to turn out that he killed my mother and tried to use me to conquer the entire galaxy. He may have been my father, but he wasn’t my daddy. I learned that from my real father after he had sacrificed himself to save me.”
“That’s heavy.” Whistled (Y/n).
“Yeah, it was. But Yondu was a good dad to me.” He said as he took out his Zune player.  “So your uhh—earth bending powers, how did you discover them?” Peter then tried to change the subject before he started to cry over his memories of Yondu.  (Y/n) smiled knowing this type of maneuver (her brothers did this all the time whenever they’d try to be strong and hardcore).
“Like I said, I was a young when it happened. I was just playing with my sister Opal out by the lake skipping rocks when suddenly as I reached out for one, my hands glew this bright blue light and the rock just shot up into my palm. We were both so scared that we ran to my mother crying in fear. I honestly don’t remember much after that but my mother had my aunt teach me how to control it. Got me my first metal-bending suit and I’ve been training with her ever since.”
Hearing her mention the blue light it perked Peter’s curiosity and he asked her.
“This blue light, can you describe it in anyway? Like what it made you feel when it came to you?”
“I—I don’t know how to explain it but….I do remember it being almost like my palms were on fire, yet they didn’t burn me. It felt like—like when you touch warm sand on a beach. Yet there was this feeling of—power to it. Like I could do anything with it.” Peter’s eyes widened.
He did remember that feeling when Ego told him about his Celestial heritage and taught him how to summon the light to his hands.  No but it—it couldn’t be? Could it? Could she really be his…….
“(Y/N)! Aunt Lin says she needs to speak to you about your armor! Says she’s got an upgrade for you!” one of her brothers called out to her.  She turned and exclaimed back.
“I’ll be there in a sec Wei!” she turned to Peter and said, “Better not keep Aunt Lin waiting. She hates it when people keep her waiting.”
“Yeah, yeah I better go and talk to the team about our next game plan. Also tell your aunt thanks for letting us use some of her police weapons.”
“She may not be happy about lending our weapons to non-Zaofuians but she’ll get over it, especially since it’s going to the Guardians of the Galaxy. But I’ll give her your regards anyways.” They went their separate ways and once Peter saw that no one was around, he took off sprinting towards Mantis’ room and rapidly knocked on her door.
“Could you be any louder at knocking Peter? I don’t think the others from Knowhere heard you.” Mantis whined with a groan.
“We need to talk.” Peter said urgently.  Sensing the urgency in his tone and knowing that this was a serious matter, Mantis allowed her brother inside and she shut the door behind her as well as locked it.  “You will not believe the conversation that I just had with (Y/n).”
“Are we being taken prisoners again?” asked Mantis worriedly.
“What no! No! Look, I know this may seem out of nowhere, but I want you to tell me first about when Ego found you and tried to make you feel a connection to the Celestial light.”
“Why would you want to know about that?”
“Just trust me Mantis. Please.” She looked into her brother’s eyes and saw the desperation but also some inkling of knowledge that he was going to fill her in on the details later.
“I had lied when I had told Drax and Gamora that Ego found me in my larva stage. He had actually came for me shortly after my mother had passed. Much like when Yondu came for you, he brought me to his planet and trained me just like he did you. But when I tried to make a connection to the light, all that awakened within me was my empathic abilities. Ego then told me that even though I’d never be able to help him with the Expansion, he still could find a purpose for me. And I had been forced to convince various of our other siblings to go along with us, before he said that I would only be used to help him sleep.”
“Wow, he really was a jackass.”
“Now will you tell me why you asked me about that?”
“(Y/n)’s ability to move earth, you know how she could bend those rocks back at Jaguar dude’s temple, turns out she has a connection to the Celestial light.”
“Are you saying that……(Y/n) is our—”
“Sister? I think she might be.”
“But how? When Ego died, you lost your connection to the Celestial light.”
“I don’t know. But the way she described the Light within her hands was exactly the same way it felt with me when I made my connection to it.”
“Did you tell her the truth?”
“Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaa—no.” stretched Peter.
“Peter we must tell her the truth. She deserves to know!” Peter stepped in front of her and said.
“I know she deserves to know but at the same time we can’t cause any family drama amongst the Beifongs. (Y/n) told me how everytime she brought up about her real dad, Suyin got this burning anger in her eyes and told her that they were her family, not him. And after seeing the way (Y/n) fights against Aztec Gods I’d hate to fight against her own mother and aunt.”
“So what are we going to do?” she asked him.
“I’ll think of something. Until I do, this stays between us okay? I mean it don’t tell anyone about this conversation to anyone else, especially Drax. You know he can’t keep a secret to save his own skin.”
“I promise.” She held out her pinkie and Peter wrapped his pinkie around hers.  “Sister’s promise.”
“Brother’s oath.” Peter replied back as they shook pinkies.
After about 3 days, the Guardians were finally ready to take off to find more Gods to save and check up on.
“We can’t thank you enough for everything you’ve done for us Suyin.” Peter thanked her.
“It was our pleasure to help in aiding the Guardians of the Galaxy. And if you’re ever passing by this way again, our doors will always be open to you.” Said Suyin with a respectable bow.  The Guardians bowed back to her before heading back to their ship, but it was then Peter stopped midway up the ramp when he said.
“Actually, there is something else we’d like to ask for.” The rest of the Guardians paused and turned to Peter.
“And just what would that be?” asked Chief Lin suspiciously.
“We’d like to extend an invitation to (Y/n) in joining us.” Everyone but Mantis became wide-eyed.  “After our experience with the Aztec god of war, we realized that we are heavily out-manned and she managed to take down all his forces single-handedly while also saving our asses. And if ever we need a tune-up she would know more about how to fix your special enhanced metal material.”
“Quill, I only had to be with Zaofu’s engineers for only 2 minutes and I can get the hang of it.” Proclaimed Rocket.
“Still it couldn’t hurt to have an expert who actually came from the place of its origins be with us should we ever need it. Two heads are better than one right?” Suyin was stunned as she turned to her youngest child and asked her.
“This is up to you (Y/n). Do you wish to go with the Guardians?” (Y/n) looked between both her family and the Guardians with a heavy heart.  She then walked up to her mother and spoke from the heart.
“My heart will always belong to Zaofu. But from the days that I would be with Aunt Lin on missions, I have seen great suffering. Some of which has been at the hands of our own metal smuggled by black marketers. I feel like Zaofu can do more for the galaxy than we already have.” Suyin sighed as she closed her eyes.
“You are my youngest child (Y/n). And I had hoped to have you remain at my side for a few more years. But now I see that you are no longer a child anymore. And at some point, I must learn to let go. If you should ever wish to return home, we’ll be here waiting for you.” (Y/n) smiled and embraced her mother.
“I love you mom.”
“I love you too.” After embracing her mother, she stood before her aunt and prepared to surrender her badge but Lin held out her hand to stop her.
“Keep it. I didn’t make you an officer of Zaofu for nothing.” She bowed before her aunt before hugging her.  Lin smiled softly down at her and embraced her back.  (Y/n) then bid goodbye to all her brothers and sister as well as her dad before turning to the Guardians and joining alongside them.
As they entered and the ramp slid back up, (Y/n) took one last look at her family as they bid her goodbye and she wiped her hidden tears away and waved to them in return before the Guardian’s ship left Zaofu.
Now heading to their next destination to answer the next signal from some Light elves on Álfheimr (Y/n) soon spotted Peter on the upper main decks looking out into the endless starry sky.
“So what was the real reason?” she asked him.
“Huh?” Peter turned to her.
“The real reason you offered me a spot on the Guardians.”
“What are you talking about kid? What I said was 100% true. Rocket may think he’s smart but no one can really understand Zaofu metal than someone who was raised there. And…..”
“Peter, I know you’re lying.”
“What so you can detect when people are lying?”
“In a sense. My grandmother was born blind, so one day she ran off and found herself lost in a cave until she came across some badger-moles. They were blind just like her, but they used the earth as an extension of their senses. She learned out to see the world through the earth around her. Feeling seismic energy of people’s footsteps and even hearing their heartbeats through the earth. And when my mom and aunt were born, she taught it to them, and then Aunt Lin taught it to me. And last night, your heartrate was beating rapidly when I told you about my powers. So come on, out with it.” Peter sighed and confessed.
“Okay, so obviously you know how I found out my dad was a real douchebag and tried to destroy the galaxy. But before that, he taught me that being a Celestial he had a connection to the Light, and he taught it to me as well as Mantis. Even though Mantis didn’t have a connection to it, she still proved a purpose by awakening her empathic powers. As for me, I did have a connection to the Light. And it was that same connection that you said you felt when you first discovered your powers.”
“So you can earth-bend too?”
“No. I mean I did when I fought Ego, but after we had killed him to stop the Expansion, I lost my connection to the Light. Yet somehow, you still have it.” (Y/n) stared at him and slowly her harsh expression turned to shock as she cautiously said.
“Wait…….so, you’re suggesting that I—”
“Ego told me he spent eons trying to find a second Celestial to bring forth the expansion but each of his children failed him. So he had them killed. Millions of children slaughtered all because they couldn’t live up to his expectations, except me. And in a way, you. But your mom and the rest of Zaofu refused to surrender you to him. That’s probably why she never talked about your real father.”
(Y/n) was stunned silent as she fell to her knees.  She looked down at her shaky hands and Peter slowly knelt down in front of her.
“But he’s gone. He’s gone for good. We blew up his core and there’s absolutely no chance of him ever coming back. And if by some insane, unexplainable reason that he ever does come back, he won’t get to you. Because you’ve not only got your family on Zaofu on yourself, but you’ve also got us, Especially Mantis and I.” (Y/n) looked up at him and asked.
“You and Mantis are……”
“As surprising as it seems, yeah. She’s my sister. Half-sister but my sister nonetheless. And so are you.” He placed a comforting hand on her shoulder and gently shook it which got her to smile.
“At least now I can say I’ve got another sister to add to the ranks.”
“Oh come on, having another big brother can’t be that bad. Especially if that brother is me. C’mon at least admit that I’m the coolest out of all your brothers.” She stood back up laughing as she walked away. “(Y/n)? C’mon (Y/n) admit it! I know you want to say it but you’re just too stubborn to admit it. Not every girl can say their big brother is a member of the Guardians, right? Right? (Y/n)! (Y/N)!!!!”

Thinking about the complexities of a "losing your magic" story in a DnD (and similar) scenerio because what it means completly depends of your class. Because while not everyone is born with magic, everyone can have it.
How for a sorcerer losing their magic is genuinally about losing a part of themselfs, to suddently not being able to do something they always did. Losing your magic is like sudently losing a limb or one of your senses. And how besides being always theirs, their magic is ancestral how it can mean losing a connection with a part of their family history.
How for paladins is about morals. About breaking their vows whatever they are, dealing with the fact that they changed or maybe that morals were always way more complicated than they thought they were. (The Oathbreaker subclass changes things but I think it can work if Oathbreaker is one of the ways to embrace the emotional conflict that took your magic). Is almost phylosofical. Is the what makes Thor worthy?
How for druids, clerics and warlocks are different levels of losing a connection. For druids is with nature, with a force beyond their comprehension but that became a part of you for so long and who are you without this feeling? For warlocks is so many things, is losing a boss, a friend, is the price of freedom, is the loss of whatever you had with the sentient being that gave you powers. And for clerics is a mix, is about if their gods are feelings like nature or beings that talk to them, but whatever it is, for clerics, for clerics is a lack of faith. Is about what happens when you doubt your god, when you can't belive it or in it. Is also about what happens when your god doesn't belive in you.
For bards and mages is the loss of a skill. The bards might have the loss of their playing or voice but even if not, even if is just the magic that is gone, well they, just like the mages, studied hard to be abble to do magic. If for a sorcerer is like losing a limb, for them is like waking up in the morning and noticing your accent changed or that you don't speak a language you once did anymore, is trying to ride the same bicycle you used to go to work everyday and noticing you just doesn't know how.

RWBY Headcannon:  Should Magic return
Ruby would become Light and Death incarnate (think a mix of Xion’s and Marluxia’s battle styles from KH3 Data Battles). Weiss would possess an obscene amount of affinity for every kind of elemental magic there is, and almost every non-elemental magic as well; which, when coupled with Weiss’ outright encyclopedic knowledge of Dust, Physics, Chemistry and Magical Theory; and all of that topped by pinpoint peerless control of every single unit of magic spent means that Weiss would become the Archmage to end all Archmages.
Blake would go full Umbramancer. EDIT: Yang’s magic can actually enhance the range and potency of her shadow magic by deepening and widening the shadows in a battefield/place (via Yang enhancing the intensity of sunlight).
Yang’s magic would be basically be the same as FGO!Gawain and NnT!Escanor, being able banish storms, enhance the intensity of sunlight, and growing stronger from the sun the closer to noon it gets (she would also be Nora’s hard counter, just as Nora would be hers). Jaune would have the potential to become an even more absurd Archmage than Weiss (in terms of sheer raw power and in terms of complete and utter affinity to any type of magic. However; in terms of knowledge, skill and mastery Weiss still reigns supreme). However, because Jaune is a paladin who behaves like a black knight who thinks himself a black knight but lives by the code of a paladin; Jaune would instead become an unrivalled master of buff, debuff and utility spells (which turn out to be more bullshit when compared to elemental bombardment spells when properly used). Nora goes full Thor and will gain the power to summon storms and call down rain, hail and lightning at will (she would also be Yang’s hard counter, just as Yang would be hers).
Oscar Pine inherits/regains Ozma’s Full Magic as well the magic that would belong to him as an individual (all Ozcarnations, should magic still have existed, would have had access the Ozma’s magic collectively but their own unique magic individually).
Ren would be a more esoteric type of mage that is as knowledgeable about magic as Weiss, but instead would focus on the mysticism of it instead of the theoretical applications. EDIT: Bonus entry Pyrrha Nikos (may she rest peacefully) would, like Jaune, possesses a strong affinity for any and all type of magic, though nowhere close as absurd. She would also have more raw power than Weiss, but again; nowhere near as as close to Jaune. On the other hand, she would be very well-versed in Dust, Physics, Chemistry, Magical Theory (like Weiss) and even Arcane Lore (like Ren), though nowhere as close as Weiss (or Ren). Her magic control is already considered exceptional, Pyrrha’s magic control efficiency being at a startling 94% (breaking the 90% threshold is actually considered mind-boggling, since magic, by definition, is a foreign power source that, while strong and plentiful, tends to constantly fight being controlled unlike one’s own Aura); however, she still falls short (heh!) to Weiss, AKA: the freak of nature who has achieved a 100% control rate through sheer stubborn will sublime skill. (For those curious, Ruby has an MC rating of 90, Blake is 84, Yang is 78, Jaune is 90, Nora is 78, Oscar is 94, and Ren is 89.) Pyrrha’s personal magic is Clairvoyance; it allows her to observe, analyze, dissect, and even learn the enemy magic and combat styles in just one glance (and since she has a high affinity for all non-exclusive magic, this is made even easier). It also grants her the ability to see the future from up to five seconds; making her aware of her opponent’s movements before they themselves are even aware. Clairvoyance also grants her the ability to see visions of the future in her dreams, though these tend to happen randomly, without context most of the time, and she can’t control when they happen.

Mission: Chivalry 3, part 2
Paladin Thor: Was that exhibition of proper manners so terrible? Loki: Yes. Paladin Thor: We'll never be family. We don't have to be friends. But we also don't need to be enemies. Loki: ...Let's shoot someone with lightning. It can be someone you deem evil. It's all the same to me...

Scared to be Lonely
Part Two   Part Three    Epilogue
Summary: After S.W.O.R.D. helps with the clean-up in the Cairo aftermath, they ask Marc to return the favor: guard a variant Loki’s estranged wife while Thor and S.W.O.R.D. try to track down the evasive Godbutcher. Yet leave it to a “catty space princess” to throw the Moon Knight for a loop.
Pairing: Marc x Fem!OC, eventual Steven x Fem!OC and Jakex Fem!OC, past Loki x Fem!OC, past Marc x Layla
Rating: Explicit, Minors DNI!
Word Count: 7.3k (hahahaha wut?!)
TW/CW: Leave it to Oscar Isaac to end my decade (?) long hiatus from writing fic...it’s so long and filthy I had to split it up into parts instead of posting in one go like I’d planned. But for this bit - talk of divorce, mention of forced marriage, angst, oral (m receiving), fingering, dirty talk, barebacking (wrap it before you tap it IRL folx), p in v sex, and a smidge of creampie & cum-eating
Tumblr media
“This is beneath me,” Khonshu declared yet again, materializing on the bus seat across from Marc, “Since when does a venerated member of the Ennead, and therefore by extension his avatar, serve as a paladin for Loki’s brat bride?”
Marc pulled out his phone. Pretended to make a call. Held the phone to his ear and then spoke. “Since if it wasn’t for S.W.O.R.D. last month the clean-up in Cairo would’ve been more of a mess than it was.”
Khonshu bristled. “I don’t trust them.”
“We agree there. But all things considered, as far as S.W.O.R.D. calling in the favor I owe them, there could be worse asks. Besides, if there’s really a deranged godkiller out there, we need intel.”
“Resorting to lowly bureaucrats instead of finding the adversary yourself. No wonder she left yo--”
“Ok talk to you soon!” Marc pretended to hang up and pushed Khonshu to the back of his mind.
Any mention of Layla was a conversation-ender.  Khonshu was severely mistaken if he thought Marc was any more excited about guarding Loki’s ex-wife from another universe than he was, but if Marc was being honest, he could use a distraction. The two weeks since he’d signed the papers had been…rough.
A calm, robotic female voice came over the bus’s loudspeaker and announced his stop. He stepped off the bus into an impossibly posh area of London. Funny how different areas of the city could be so starkly different they felt like separate worlds.
The S.W.O.R.D. operative was waiting for Marc outside of Claridge’s as said he would be.
“Agent Woo,” Marc greeted him.
“Mister..?” Woo struggled with how to return the greeting, trying to determine who he was speaking to.
Marc watched him squirm for a moment or two, then put him out of his discomfort, “Spector. The other one has a British accent so thick it borders on hokey.”
Sod off, Steven chimed from one of the polished window panes of the luxury hotel’s entryway.
At least he counted you, Jake added. Marc was still grappling with the existence of another alter, and it was none of S.W.O.R.D’s business.
“Oh, okay, thanks. Shall we?” Woo gestured to the door, eager to put his gaffe behind them.
The two men made their way across the grand, bustling lobby. Marc had never been to the hotel, but it was more or less what he expected. Chandelier, black and white marble tiles, a sweeping staircase.
“What am I walking into here?” Marc asked. When googling his charge, Sigyn, he hadn’t found much. He’d even consulted a few of Steven’s mythology books but they contained little more information about the Norse goddess. All Marc was working off of was, until recently, that she was the long-suffering wife of Loki, god of mischief and chaos, and that Sigyn was given the title of goddess of fidelity for her trouble.
Woo called the elevator. “You read the brief?”
“Of course I read the brief,” Marc fired back. It had been frustratingly vague to his chagrin, but not to his surprise. Sigyn was a “variant”, a person who had come from another universe into theirs. In her dimension, she’d been married to Loki for centuries on Asgard and part of the ruling royal family. S.W.O.R.D. suspected that her universe’s Loki had gone rogue, conspiring with the entity who had been destroying gods across the multiverse.
“She’s lovely,” Woo said as they got on the elevator.
“Don’t bullshit me.”
Woo deflated. “Her highness comes off as arrogant, imperious. Our psychiatrist says it’s because she’s still feeling vulnerable after her husband left her. We need her for intel obviously, but our team has lead on Gorr–”
“The godkiller” Marc interjected.
“Yes. Thor doesn’t want her to come. Our leadership agrees, it’s too risky. We can’t lose our two closest connections to Loki and Asgardian assets should the mission go south.”
“So you called me to babysit rather than actually help you.”
“You are helping,” Woo insisted. “And your status as a consultant with us is delicate, Mr. Spector. S.W.O.R.D. is protecting you and your alter from several international authorities. Fail to keep the princess safe and perhaps we’ll reconsider.”
“Does she have the same affinity for lightning as her brother-in-law?”
The elevator reached the top floor.
“No, but like other Asgardians, she has increased strength and invulnerability, heightened senses and stamina, in addition to the Allspeak. She’s a practitioner of magic, but her skills are nowhere near Loki’s. She also tells us she can hold her own in a fight.”
“Hand-to-hand combat or with a weapon?”
“Doesn’t matter. Under no circumstances is she to leave the premises of the hotel. We’d prefer if you two stayed in the suite at all times.”
“Worse cages to be kept in,” Marc commented as they walked down the plush-carpeted hallway to what he guessed was a penthouse.
“Tell that to her,” Woo muttered under his breath.
The pair reached the door to the Asgardians’ suite. Two armed guards were posted outside. Marc stopped Woo before the agent could give the nod for entry to his colleagues.
“Do I really have to call her your highness?”
“If she likes you she’ll let you call her Sigyn, she picked that up from Thor.”
“So you call her Sigyn.”
Woo snorted. “Ha! No.”
With that, Woo motioned to the operatives and they opened the door. Six more guards and agents were inside from what he could see, and Marc could barely take in the elegance of the spacious and cream-colored suite before Thor stormed into its living area. He was in full battle guard: helmet, cape, and the massive axe that Marc always assumed was over-compensation for other “shortcomings”.
Hot on his heels was a woman adorned in a large gold helm of her own. Where Thor’s was winged on the sides, hers has two large semi-circles and a dazzling emerald inlaid in the center right above her brow. Though her respective cape was green - her husband’s color Steven clocked - she wore a glittering gold gown. Sigyn.
The more Marc observed her, everything about Sigyn seemed gem-like. Long, honey-colored  tresses tumbled down her back, and her skin was fair but sun-kissed. A pair of sapphire-like blue eyes competed for brilliance with the emerald on her helmet. Her cheekbones were high, her lashes were long, her lips were full, and her build athletic.
Loki left her? What an idiot, Jake marveled. I’d chain her to my bed and live inside of her–
Marc blocked him out before Jake could finish the thought.
Though you’ve got to admit, she certainly looks like a goddess, doesn’t she?
He turned away from Steven’s image in the mirrored cabinet behind the dining table across the room. Marc was a professional. Unlike his alters, he could handle being in the same room as a beautiful woman. He pulled himself out of his head, focusing on the argument unfolding in front of him.
“No one knows Loki like I do,” Sigyn asserted.
Thor wasn’t convinced. “I’m his brother.”
“Adopted brother. I’m his wife,” she countered.
“Estranged wife,” Thor shot back just as quickly. He scrubbed a massive hand over his face. It was clear they’d had this dispute before. “I need you to stay here, Sigyn. You’ll get your crack at him, I swear it, but not yet.
Thor spotted them before the princess could get another word in. “Oh brilliant! Your knight is here!”
The Asgardian crossed to them quickly, his hurried gait betraying his desperation to change the subject. Sigyn glared at the trio of men with disdain. She may have only married into royalty, but it appeared to Marc that Sigyn definitely had her imperial sneer down.
“Cut the cow dung, brother. You mean my nanny.” She narrowed her gaze onto Marc. Everyone else in the room followed suit.
Sigyn’s stare was withering. Was he supposed to bow? “Don’t you dare”, Khonshu protested.
Marc offered his hand instead. “Marc Spector…your highness.”
Sigyn didn’t take his hand. The princess’s face gave away nothing. Instead, she looked at Thor expectantly.
“Lord Spector, allow me to introduce you to her royal highness Princess Sigyn of Asgard.”
“Thanks but um, I’m not a lord.”
Thor was thrown. “You’re a knight, aren’t you?”
“I’m the avatar of the Egyptian god, Khonshu. Moon Knight is a title but I don’t have subjects or anything.”
Sigyn groaned. “Norns”. She swept out of the living area into what must have been a bedroom, making sure to slam the door behind her.
Thor broke the subsequent awkward silence.
“So now you’ve met my sister,” he sent the other men a conciliatory smile. “Technically, we’re not siblings, or really in-laws even, but she’s fast become the younger sister I never had, you know?”
“Sure,” Marc offered.
“I’m an only child,” Agent Woo blurted.
“Anyway, Marc, I was hoping to see Khonshu! It’s been a literal eternity since I’ve seen that crazy old bird!” Thor scanned the room.“Is he here?”
Marc glimpsed Khonshu in his periphery shaking his head. “Not now, no,” he lied. “The Ennead relocated to the Overvoid, so it’s complicated to–”
“We need to go,” a female voice tinged with an eastern European accent interrupted him. A smaller blonde woman entered in tactical gear. “Is the Princess Bride taken care of?”
“Yes!” Thor exclaimed. “Marc Spector, Yelena Belova.”
Yelena shook Marc’s hand. “You’re Sigyn’s personal detail?” he nodded. “You poor son of a bitch.”
“I’ve been a mercenary for over a decade, I think I can handle a catty space princess.”
“Exactly! You’re the best there is,” Thor pulled Marc close to him. The Asgardian lowered his tone, “She’s been through a lot as of late. First her husband leaves her and then she’s transported to a different realm, in an entirely different universe where they were never wed, not to mention he’s dead here too.”
“I get it. Sort of. I got divorced recently.” Marc had no idea why he said it. Did he drink and fight about the split from Layla? Yes. But talk about it? Never.
“Great!” The god of thunder caught himself. “It’s not great, I’m sorry, though perhaps you wanted to get divorced? Who am I kidding? Breakups are always hard. Well, they are for me, you seem like the stoic type. But it is great you two have something in common.”
The suite had nearly emptied. Before Thor followed suit, he went to Sigyn’s closed door and knocked. No answer.
“Seeg? We’re leaving.” Still no response. Thor tried another tactic. “They may come here, you know. That’s why we need you and Marc to stay behind.”
Sigyn’s reply came in the form of a pillow being hurled at Thor’s face that sailed through a gold hole in the top half of the door that disappeared as swiftly as it materialized.
Bloody hell, Steven marveled at the casual use of magic.
Thor remained undeterred, shouting “I love you, sister!” before he took his leave.
Agent Woo headed for the door too, clapping Marc on the shoulder. “She’s all yours.”
Marc stopped him. “Wait, you’re not staying?”
“I thought you read the brief! It clearly outlined that this is an all-hands-on-deck situation, which is why we called you. Plus, I'm pretty sure she despises me. The door guards stay. Charge whatever you need to the room. We’ll be back as soon as we can.”
Less than a minute later, the room was deserted. Marc approached Sigyn’s door. He tried knocking and calling for her, but she remained non-responsive.
“She didn’t climb out the window, did she?”
“The princess is still here,” Khonshu assured him before adding “unfortunately.”
“Might as well make the best of it.”
Marc wasted no time flopping onto the couch that probably cost more than his last car, ordering room service, and several putting pay-per-view fights on S.W.O.R.D’s tab. If he was lucky, Sigyn would stay holed up in the bedroom until everyone came back.
Those hopes were dashed ninety minutes later when the princess emerged from her bedroom and padded into the living room. No longer in her ceremonial battle armor, Sigyn wore a simple ivory linen dress. Marc turned off the TV reflexively when she entered the room.
Sigyn studied him, her eyes inquisitive and piercing. “You’re the Moon Knight?”
“Just Moon Knight. No ‘the’. Fuck it, just call me Marc.”
“But there’s another man that lives within you.”
“Yes.”
“What’s his name?”
“Steven.”
Sigyn nodded, digesting the information. Marc was surprised to see there were no traces of wariness or distaste on her face, simply curiosity.
“And you both serve Khonshu?”
“I do more than he does.”
Wouldn’t at all if it were up to me, Steven remarked, his face warped in the silver of the serving cover that the room service had been delivered under.
“I’d like to apologize for my behavior earlier. I made a rather terrible first impression.”
“Don’t mention it. Thor told me what you’re dealing with right now.”
An exasperated sigh escaped past Sigyn’s plump lips, “I wish he hadn’t. He treats me as if I were made of glass, it drives me mad.”
“He cares about you.”
She softened slightly. “It’s all too easy to forget he's not actually the brother I’ve spent the last however many years with. Otherwise he’d know.”
“Know what?”
“That I am not a fragile, helpless princess that needs your protection, Marc.”
He stood, went to her. Marc fought to ignore the intoxicating scent of jasmine that flooded his nostrils when he crowded his space to test her. “Oh yeah? So why haven’t you given me the slip then?
Her sapphire eyes turned hungry. “Have you looked in a mirror lately?”
“Not if I can help it.”
Sigyn chuckled. She lifted her chin in an attempt to make up for the inch or so Marc had her height-wise. “You remind me of my husband. Ex-husband.”
“Ouch,” he replied with faux hurt.
“You strike me as a man who doesn’t take well to authority,” she explained, “so are you really going to listen to those puny Midgardian peons and keep us confined to this room?”
Marc smirked at her, but he didn’t answer Sigyn. This was a game he could play. And win.
“Perhaps you really are only a knight in name, hmm? Especially if you’re afraid of protecting a superior being who received her combat training from Odin’s elite Crimson Hawks.”
It was Marc’s turn to chuckle. She was goading him, trying to use reverse psychology. He leaned in close, hovered his lips millimeters from her ear. “Nice try.”
Marc stepped back from her and returned to the couch. Clicked the TV back on. Before he could resume the boxing match he’d been watching, Sigyn followed him to the couch.
“Merely my only opening gambit. I’d caution you trying to play mind games with me, Marc. I was married to the god of mischief for a very long time.”
“Sweetie, you have no idea who you’re dealing with.”
“It’s your highness.”
That’s it, give me the body! Jake demanded. I’m going to bend her over and–
Marc did his best to retain control of the body and cover any signs from bleeding onto his face as he stared Sigyn down.
Khonshu didn’t make it any easier, “For once I agree with the ruffian.”
“Marc?”
“Yeah”
“Are you well?”
“Never better,” he pivoted immediately. “Cards on the table, I only agreed to this because I want to know more about the godkiller–”
“Godbutcher.”
“Excuse me?”
“He calls himself the Godbutcher”.
“That’s a hell of a name to give yourself,” Marc mused. “Who has he butchered so far?”
“We don’t know how many. I’ve overheard that some members of the Greek pantheon were victims. Thor refuses to tell me anything more, which means he’s afraid.”
“Where were they going?”
“You believe they’d tell me?”
“No I don’t, but you’re too savvy to wait to be told,” Marc pressed. “You must know something.”
The television remote flew from the table into Sigyn’s hand. She turned off the TV. “Take me to dinner and I’ll tell you all that I know. I hear the restaurant downstairs is fabulous.”
“So you can be closer to an exit and lose me in a crowd? I don’t think so.”
“I genuinely haven’t the faintest idea where they went,” she averred. “If I did, we likely wouldn’t be able to follow them anyhow since you don’t have the tech, nor I the magic to traverse the multiverse.”
“They’re traveling inter-dimensionally?”
“That’s the most I was able to glean.”
“Why are you telling me this?”
“Because I have been locked in these rooms for nearly four days and I am going mad,” Sigyn confessed, her eyes locked with Marc’s so he could see the truth in them.
“The restaurant downstairs,” he agreed. Sigyn’s face lit up. “That’s it though.”
“Of course,” she flit back to her room.
“I should have claimed Layla for my next avatar when I had the chance,” Khonshu lamented. Marc turned to face him. “You don’t use the head on your shoulders to negotiate.”
“Keep her out of your craven attempts to control me,” Marc fired back. “I’m containing Sigyn so you can go find where Thor and S.W.O.R.D. went to.”
Khonshu cocked his skull, impressed. “Perhaps you’re not as useless as I thought.”
The god vanished and Marc snuck over to Sigyn’s bedroom, listening through the door. She was on the phone.
“Under Sigyn Odi–-Sigyn Frodisdottir please. No, the private dining room won’t be necessary.”
Marc’s notion of Sigyn trying to lose him among the hotel guests wasn’t unfounded after all it seemed. He was taken aback by how gracious the princess was, however. There wasn’t a trace of the haughtiness in her tone that she’d spoken to Marc or the S.W.O.R.D agents with.
Sigyn continued with who Marc guessed was the concierge, “I was curious if your personal shopper might be available? Wonderful! One minute, I’ll ask him–”
Her footsteps got closer and Marc launched himself through the hallway to resume his position on the couch before the door opened. When Sigyn appeared, Marc was tapping away on his phone, pretending he’d been there the entire time.
She handed him the receiver. “The shopper requires your measurements.”
“I thought we were just going to dinner?”
“Not with you dressed like that.”
Marc rolled his eyes. So much for Sigyn abandoning her royal airs. She retreated to her room once more and left Marc with the phone.
He put the phone to his ear. “Don’t make me look like a douche, alright?”
***
It’s official. You definitely look like a douche, Jake mocked Marc’s reflection as he straightened his tie in the suite’s spare bedroom.
I think we look sharp, Steven offered.
“Fuck it,” Marc took off the tie and tossed it on the bed. He undid the top three buttons of the hideously expensive shirt the Claridge’s personal shopper got him instead. Sigyn would deal.
Marc called for her, “We gotta go! You said seven, right?”
“A moment more!” Came the princess’s muffled reply through the door.
He waited for her in the living room. Caught his reflection again on the TV screen.
“I do look like a douche.”
Sigyn’s door opened before Marc could change back to the clothes he arrived in. Her hair was artfully piled atop her head, exposing the golden skin of Sigyn’s shoulders since the deceptively simple, short black dress she wore didn’t leave much to the imagination.
“Don’t clean you up well.” She remarked as she approached him.
It took Marc a moment to acknowledge that she was speaking to him. He was a professional, but this wasn’t an impetuous princess before him. Dressed in earthly clothes, Sigyn was simply a knockout. He liked this version of her better. The golden helmet and cape and shimmering gown were unnecessary adornments to her beauty.
Jake and Steven immediately, simultaneously, demanded control of the body. It felt as if four fists were pounding on his skill from the inside. Marc didn’t blame them, but there was also no way in hell they were going to ruin the delicate connection he’d forged with Sigyn.
Who do you think you’re kidding? Jake scoffed. You want first dibs on fucking her.
Sigyn’s hand cautiously touched his arm, snapping Marc out of his thoughts.
“Marc? Can you hear me?” Her brow was furrowed in concern. The strappy heels she wore gave her the height advantage now.
“Yeah,” he said, “yes. Sorry.”
“Are you sure? We don’t have to do this.”
“No, I want to,” the words left Marc’s lips without permission. _Get it together Spector, _he thought, it’s like you’ve never seen a pair of tits before. He needed to backpedal. “I mean, we had a deal.”
Sigyn grinned. “Shall we then?”
The restaurant was dark and enveloping in its design - aubergine walls, low lighting, velvet seats. A singer and her small band occupied one of the corners; her sultry voice suited the ambiance of the establishment well as she serenaded its patrons.
Marc wasted no time ordering the most expensive champagne on the menu to spite S.W.O.R.D. Once the waiter departed from the table, he got right to it.
“So the godbutcher.”
A nervous laugh escaped Sigyn. She fidgeted, and even in the dim lighting, Marc could tell the princess was blushing. “In Asgard we usually wait for the first course before we discuss the matter at hand, Mister Spector.”
Marc readied a retort until he caught Sigyn's fingers unconsciously drifting to her left ring finger, as if to twirl a wedding band, only to remember a moment too late it was bare.
That’s when it occurred to him. She may be considered a goddess, but Sigyn was clearly a profoundly lonely woman. Not only had she been forsaken by her husband, as morally ambiguous as he was, she was on a strange planet in a completely different universe from hers with men in suits keeping her cooped up in a gilded cage. Why else would she not have escaped from the suite and insisted Marc dress up and take her dinner?
He understood how she felt. All too well. But before Sigyn’s plight could truly tug on his heartstrings, Marc shut it down. He could work with this. Sigyn wanted the boyfriend experience? Marc would give her the boyfriend experience and get what he needed.
Better give me the body, Steven entreated, only his eyes visible on the thin blade of Marc’s butterknife. You’re a bit too gruff to deliver the boyfriend experience, aren't you?
“Shut up,” Marc whispered.
Sigyn had heard. “Beg your pardon?”
“Nothing,” he covered. “And I’m sorry your highness, you’re right, it was inappropriate of me to ask you right away.”
“I shouldn’t expect a Midgardian to observe the customs of a realm to which he’s never been,” she admitted. “Please call me Sigyn.”
Marc smiled a wolfish grin. He was in.
“Nevertheless, I wish to know more about my enigmatic sentry.”
“Not much to know,” Marc deflected. His response was an automatic defense mechanism. Don’t let anyone get close, or let them learn anything they could use against him. Yet he knew he needed to give Sigyn something if he was going to coax anything useful out of her. “From Chicago, that’s in America. Do you know America? It’s um, across the-”
“I’ve heard of America,” she reassured him.
“Served in the military which led me to mercenary work which led me into the service of Khonshu.” There. That was something.
Sigyn giggled as their waiter brought their champagne. “You say it with such simplicity.”
“Yeah well, something tells me you’re a lot more interesting,” Marc countered.
“Is that so?”
“You’re very different with me than you were with your brother and S.W.O.R.D.” he remarked.
“Because you don’t look at me with pity,” Sigyn explained. “In their eyes I’m the silly, stupid woman who married the evil god because she didn’t know any better. Whereas they all saw this coming lightyears away apparently, and regard me as if I didn’t know my husband after centuries of marriage.”
“I get it,” Marc told her, making sure to catch her gaze. “I really do.”
Sigyn didn’t know what or how to ask about Marc’s…condition, so she stayed silent and took a sip of her champagne instead.
Marc followed her line of sight to the band. A few couples had taken to the small dance floor in front of the musicians. Sigyn watched them with equal parts wonder and wistfulness.
“Do you dance on Asgard?”
“Yes but not like this,” Sigyn kept her eyes on the dancers. “Here it looks to be about two people merely being close to each other. On Asgard, it’s much more formal, impersonal even. The first time I met Loki he asked me to dance.”
“Did he?”
“I could hardly believe it.”
“Why?” When Sigyn looked at Marc in confusion, he elaborated, “Have you looked in a mirror lately?”
Sigyn flushed, a mix of the alcohol and the compliment.
“My entire childhood, my mother’s complete focus was getting Thor to wed my elder sister. Which if I’m honest, I learned not to mind, since it meant I could do what I like, court who I wanted. But the shock on her face when she discovered that a prince had asked little Sigyn to dance instead of her prized Astrid,” her expression darkened, “It’s probably why I stayed with him after the shock at the wedding.’
“What do you mean?”
“The night Loki danced with me I was already betrothed to a friend of my brothers’, a fellow Crimson Hawk. Theoric. We were madly in love and Loki could see that. So he arranged for Theo to be killed in battle and posed as him. Odin married us, and it was only after we had sealed our vows that he revealed who I had actually pledged eternity to.”
“Fuck” was all Marc could muster in response. Sigyn sent him a wan smile.
“Odin was enraged, marriage was binding but no one ought to be wed under false pretenses. So he offered me the goddess of fidelity. And I suppose because of all the resentment I harbored for my mother, I accepted. Yet I grew to love it - both my husband and my role. Odin and Frigga had begun to send me on my own diplomatic envoys before…” she swallowed the lump in her throat before continuing, “before all of this happened.”
“I’m sorry.”
Sigyn blinked away a tear. “Tremendous. Now you pity me too.”
“I never said that.”
Sigyn took another sip of her champagne. The band began a new song, the bass and strings made for an enticing mix.
“Dance with me,” Marc said.
“Don’t trouble yourself.”
“Sigyn.”
“I don’t wish to anymore.”
Marc stood. Reached out his hand.
“Stand up.“ It wasn’t a request. At last, Sigyn obeyed.
Who knew her highness is just as good at taking orders as she is giving them, Jake noted as Marc led them to join the few couples already dancing.
Somewhere in the middle
Think I lied a little
Sigyn was a quick study as to where to place her hands, fighting to ensure that her face wouldn't betray just how good it felt to grip Marc’s hard but warm flesh under her hands, and the two were sidestepping together in no time.
“Thank you,” she whispered.
I know that I seem a little stressed out
But you’re here now
And you’re turning me on
Marc ignored how intoxicating Sigyn’s closeness was and focused on how to get more information out of her. It was clear she was feeling vulnerable, he needed to meet her where she was at.
“I got divorced. Recently.”
Sigyn’s eyes found Marc’s, open and compassionate. “I’m so sorry.”
“Not your fault,” he shrugged, “but know I do get what you’re going through.”
Put my mind at ease
Pretty please
“At least with my ex-wi—with Layla, things were pretty cut and dry as to why. I couldn’t be there for her, I couldn’t protect her, now she’s mixed up in the same shit as I am” Marc shared. “But what I can’t figure out is why Loki would leave you to team up with someone who wants you all dead.”
“Because he wants a throne,” Sigyn answered simply. “He’s always wanted a realm of his own to rule over. I suppose he believes allying himself with Gorr will not merely dispose of Thor but all deities who would challenge him.”
“But Gorr would kill him-“
“Not if Loki double-crosses him first,” Sigyn pointed out.
She knows how he thinks, Marc noted to himself, the song’s dulcet melody filling the silence.
If we take it further I swear I ain’t gonna break
So baby come try me
“But what do I know? Things had been comfortable, content between us. This could just as easily be his latest and arguably his grandest act of self-sabotage,” Sigyn mused. “A subject you seem well-acquainted with, no?”
“Dinner, dancing, and head-shrinking? You really know how to show a guy a good time, your highness.”
“Tell me Marc, did Layla ever say she required your protection?”
He bristled, refusing to reply.
“I don’t know her—“
“Yeah, you don’t.”
“But I’d venture that Layla, if she married you, hardly wanted, let alone needed, your protection.”
Marc’s grip tightened on Sigyn’s waist but he said nothing. They continued to dance in silence as the band moved into a new song.
Too much time, losing track of us
Where was the real?
“Did it ever occur to you that maybe Loki left you to protect you from what he felt he had to do?”
“A noble thought.” The same pained smile spread across Sigyn’s lips. “But you don’t know my husband.”
“I don’t,” he conceded, “but if our paths cross, I’ll be sure to kick his ass.”
“By all means. If there’s anything left after I’m finished with him, that is.”
Marc laughed, instinctively holding Sigyn closer, their lips millimeters apart. The air seemed to crackle around them.
Is it just our bodies?
Are we both losing our minds?
Instead of bringing his mouth to hers, Marc turned his face to murmur into Sigyn’s ear. “How about we get out of here?”
She shook her head. “Take me upstairs.”
Is the only reason you’re holding me tonight ‘cause we’re scared to be lonely?
Marc didn’t need to be told twice. As soon as the song came to an end, he escorted Sigyn off of the dance floor and out of the restaurant. With the way the waitstaff was fawning over the princess, he figured they’d know to put their meal on S.W.O.R.D.’s tab.
They crossed the expansive lobby with Marc’s arm around Sigyn’s waist, but not daring to do anything more. The wait for the elevator was excruciating, he could already feel himself beginning to grow hard, but all bets were off when the larger metallic doors closed behind them.
Their lips crashed together with a surprising amount of force, finally no longer denying their desire for each other. Sigyn’s hands gripped either side of Marc’s face, while his hands found purchase on her hips, walking her blindly back into the wall of the elevator, pressing his hard-on against her.
A throaty moan escaped Sigyn’s mouth in between harsh, hungry kisses when she felt Marc’s erection against her hip. She grinded against him, savoring the friction, detaching their lips to whisper, “Is that all for me, Moon Knight?”
He mouthed at her neck, encircling each of her wrists in his hands, pinning them to the wall, “Shut up.”
Sigyn acquiesced with a giggle that suddenly morphed in a moan when Marc bit down on the juncture of her neck and shoulder.
The elevator doors opened to their floor with a high chime. The pair stumbled out and disconnected, Marc adjusting his jacket to try and hide his boner while Sigyn smoothed out her dress, both aware that there were still two guards posted at the other end of the hallway outside the suite.
“Your highness,” they greeted them, opening the door for Sigyn and Marc.
She smiled and acknowledged the guards with a nod, hoping her eyes telegraphed Sigyn’s gratitude for not commenting on their appearances.
As soon as the door closed behind them in the suite, the two launched themselves at each other once more. This time Marc’s hands went straight under the hem of Sigyn’s dress to her ass and lifted the princess into his arms.
“I should fuck you against the door so they can hear,” Marc growled.
“Naughty,” Sigyn played with the hair at the nape of his neck, “spread me out on the bed first.”
Marc obliged, carrying her into the bedroom, and depositing Sigyn on the bed with a toss. She laid back amongst the pillows, separating her legs to give Marc a glimpse of the scrap of black lace covering her as he stripped off his shirt and toed off his loafers.
“Turn around,” he ordered.
Sigyn did so, and Marc unzipped her dress and slid it down her shoulders, kissing every newly exposed notch of her back as he went. He slipped off her stilettos and pushed the black fabric down her hips, Marc’s mouth watering when Sigyn’s full, toned ass came into view. He snapped the strap of her flimsy thong against her golden skin, earning a shiver from Sigyn.
“This ass,” he groaned as he pulled Sigyn’s back flush with his front. Marc snaked his hands up her taut abdomen, then cupped her breasts in his large hands.
“Marc,” she mewled as he resumed his attack on her neck.
He teased her nipples, pinching them. “What do you want?”
She answered him by slithering out of his grasp and twisting back around on the bed, sitting back on her heels. Sigyn’s hands went straight to Marc’s belt, undoing the strip of leather and unzipping his fly. She reached inside, taking his massive, insistent bulge in hand through Marc’s boxer-briefs, squeezing him through the fabric.
“Fuck,” he grunted.
Sigyn withdrew only to pull his pants and underwear down, Marc aiding her and by kicking them off. He stood before her in all of his glory, and a wicked, satisfied glint flashed in Sigyn’s eyes when she was able to take in Marc’s member without any obstruction. She bit her lip unconsciously - he was uncut and thick. An errant thought danced through her mind —she owed her sort-of brother-in-law an apology and her heartiest gratitude for pairing them together.
Concentrating back on the task before her, Sigyn pumped Marc a few times, climbed off the bed, and knelt before him. She brought her lips to his head tracing the shape of her mouth before laving kitten licks up his length.
Marc gazed down at Sigyn through hooded lids as his cock slipped between her lips and she bobbed up and down. He rested a hand on the back of Sigyn's head, guiding her eager mouth along the length of his dick. Shit she was good at this.
Well, she is a thousand-year-old goddess, Steven pointed out, probably had loads of time to practice.
The last thing Marc wanted to do was think about Sigyn with another man, the thought prompted him to begin thrusting into the warm, wet suction of the princess’s mouth. She moaned.
C’mon, fuck her mouth, Jake urged in Steven’s absence.
As if she could read their thoughts, Sigyn grasped onto the globes of Marc’s ass and pulled him deeper. His eyes rolled back in his head as she proceeded to deep throat him. Did Asgardians not have gag reflexes?
Marc could feel his orgasm creeping up on him. He pulled himself from between Sigyn’s plush lips, but the princess looking up at him with her wide sapphire orbs and glistening pout was nearly enough to undo Marc.
“Wanna come in your pussy,” he offered as an explanation, lifting Sigyn to her feet and pushing back onto the bed again. This time, he covered her body with his, Marc’s hand slipping down to her underwear, toying with Sigyn’s clit through the lace.
She let out a breathy cry, both relieved and riled up that her core was getting some much-needed attention. Marc’s dexterous fingers continued playing with her while another slipped between her folds, earning another keen from the princess. He proceeded to rip the thong clean off her body and redouble his efforts by thrusting two fingers inside of Sigyn. She canted her hips to meet his strokes, just as hungry for this as he was.
“Sigyn,” he murmured.
“Hgggnnn,” came her incredibly coherent reply.
“We need protection.”
Her eyes popped open, her brow creasing. “From what?”
“Sexually transmitted diseases,” he explained, “and pregnancy.”
“Our kind can’t contract any diseases from yours,” she panted. Marc hadn’t ceased his ministrations and hit a particularly delectable spot inside of her. “And I take a – um, tincture. F-f-for contraception.”
His thumb drew circles around her clit. “Fuck me already, Marc,” she demanded.
Marc was all too eager to acquiesce. He withdrew his fingers from Sigyn, inserting them into her eager mouth while he lined himself up with her dripping core. Sigyn licked Marc’s digits clean, treating him to more insistent, needy moans as he ran the head of his cock through her wetness.
At last Marc sank into Sigyn’s tight cunt. She felt just as heavenly as he’d imagined she would, her walls clinging to his shaft in a vice-like grip, encouraging him to sheath himself further.
As Marc pulled out to thrust back in deeper, Sigyn wrapped an arm around his neck and brought their mouths together once again. They collided in a mess of teeth and tongues, Sigyn breaking the liplock only when Marc picked up the pace of his hips, her neck thrashing to the side.
It felt as though Marc was consuming her, spearing her apart with his thick girth, and she loved it. What they shared felt more primal than her lovemaking with Loki had been as of late. Sex was a tactic or carefully calculated move in the chess game that her marriage had become, with Marc it seemed that they needed each other equally as badly, and for the same reason. To forget someone else.
And with a face like that and the way Marc pistoned his fat cock into her, Sigyn had no problem with forgetting everything except the stretch in her pussy, Marc’s dark, unflinching gaze, and the pair of bulging biceps that held her wrists above her head.
“You’re so strong,” Sigyn exhaled.
Marc grunted a reply, continuing to hammer into her.
“But so am I,” Sigyn smirked as broke free of his grasp, flipping them over so she was on top. She canted her hips and pinned Marc’s wrists just as he had hers, a devilish grin playing across her kiss-bruised lips.
Despite the hot thrill that raced down Marc’s spine at having a partner who could match his strength and the view of Sigyn’s tits bouncing in time with his thrusts, he wasn’t going to let her get away with it.
“Oh no you don’t,” Marc rolled them over again, splaying Sigyn back on the bed. He hooked the backs of her knees in the bends of his elbows to spread her legs wider and pounded in deeper.
Sigyn threw her head back against the bed’s downy comforter. “Norns, Marc, yes.”
But Marc was unable to shake the idea of fucking the Asgardian against the wall. He collected her in his arms and carried her to the wall opposite the bed. Sigyn’s breath hitched when Marc re-entered her and resumed his punishing pace. She clenched around him even harder, relishing the contrast between the rigid, polished wood paneling at her back and Marc’s searing flesh, damp with sweat, pressing into her front.
Marc was unrelenting in his assault on Sigyn’s pussy, driving his hips into her, earning a hybrid of a moan and shriek when the tip of his cock found her g-spot. He focused there with his thrusts, swallowing Sigyn’s cries and moans as he impaled her. Though initially Marc has wanted the guards to hear just how well he was fucking her royal highness, he’d changed his mind. Now he wanted all of Sigyn’s sweet little sounds for himself.
Particularly sweet was the sound of slick slap on skin-on-skin from where they were joined. “Do you hear that?” Marc asked her, his voice gravel. It sent another shudder through Sigyn. “You’re so wet for me baby, you gonna come on my cock?”
Sigyn pulled Marc closer to her, digging her manicured nails into the thick muscles of his traps. “Make me.”
The Asgardian’s challenge spurred Marc to redouble his efforts, holding Sigyn up with his pistoning hips and only one arm, the other shooting straight down to her clit. He rubbed rough, persistent circles into the nub, prompting Sigyn’s cunt to clench around him so tightly he could barely thrust.
Marc didn’t mind though, he ground his hips into hers and continued his stream of filthy goading, “You like that? ‘Cause I love the way your tight cunt is squeezing me. Come on, cream on my cock baby.”
Sigyn snapped with a loud, unprincess-like wail as she came, her pussy spasming around Marc’s hot length inside her. Her orgasm rushed like a roaring flame through her veins, her nails digging so deep into Marc’s shoulders she nearly drew blood. Marc didn’t stop grinding his dick into her core as Sigyn came, prolonging her release as he chased his. She didn’t know how long it took for the blinding euphoria to settle, but when Sigyn regained coherence Marc was still frantically fucking into her.
Despite the oversensitivity beginning to set into her groin, Sigyn tightened around his pulsing dick again and urged him on, “Marc, wanna feel you.”
That did it - not a moment later was Marc painting her walls with his hot seed. He slammed his free hand against the wall and his chest vibrated with a deep groan as he emptied himself inside of Sigyn, the climax so good he could forget about Khonshu, his divorce, and the impending threat of the Godbutcher, if only for a moment.
Marc gathered the remains of his strength and walked them back over to the bed, his softening cock still inside Sigyn. This time he lay her on the now mussed duvet much more gingerly, and extracted himself from her just as carefully.
They lay beside each other, looking into each other’s eyes for the right thing to say. This was so not how Marc thought tonight would go when he got the call from Agent Woo, but he was not complaining.
Marc spoke first. “How do you feel?”
Sigyn smiled - not an imperious smirk, nor the grin she used to mask her pain when talking about Loki. A genuine, unguarded smile. “Very good.”
“Just very good?” Marc scoffed with mock offense.
“Very very good,” Sigyn assured him with a kiss. “Wonderful, even. Are you alright?”
“Yeah,” Marc found it too easy to get lost in Sigyn’s eyes. “I am famished, though.”
“You did work up quite the appetite, Mister Spector,” Sigyn remarked. She sat up, pushing herself off of the bed. “Order us something, I’m going to clean up.”
What a gentleman you are, Steven fumed, leaving her to fend for herself as soon as you’re finished.
Marc sat up as well, eschewing firing back at Steven that he barely wasn’t a virgin anymore, and grabbed Sigyn’s wrist as she headed toward the en-suite. “I can get you–”
“It’s no trouble,” she told him. She gestured to her now thoroughly wrecked updo. “Besides I should tend to this.”
“Wait, let me…” Marc slid his fingertip along the inside of Sigyn’s thigh where his release had trickled out of her. She bent over obediently and sucked it clean, making Marc’s spent cock twitch in a valiant attempt to harden again so soon.
He enjoyed the view of the naked princess traipsing into the bathroom, then grabbed the in-room phone.

Cyborg rose and Thor rose
I was looking through some of my old procreate movie Amy Rose sketches to delete some of the stranger or repeating ideas and I found these two sketches so I just had to finish it. Past me might have predicted rusty rose and paladin rose, I just think it’s a funny coincidence. (I made these sketches a couple of months after sonic movie 2).

Hey Red, longtime fan of your channel and as of yesterday Aurora binge-reader
I have a few questions about your comic, answer as many or as few or as none at all as you want, and I apologize in advance for my physics-and-worldbuilding-junkie lizard brain that absolutely adores and wants to grok your awesome fantasy series, Please know this all comes from my own insatiable curiosity and passion for your comic
First of all, the metal caste gets their free will from recieving a spark at puberty, or from being struck by lightning and being "chosen", but could a mage give a spark to an unsparked metal caste by zapping them with lightning? could you be zapped multiple times? what happens if an already sparked metal caste is struck by lightning?
Do certain subgroups of humans that were elementally influenced or evolved show specific proclivities towards respective elements? (like are there a lot of stone mage metal-castes)
What are the crystal caste and where did they come from/were first mentioned either in a post or in the story? Rattle off as many varieties and their general deal as you want
Would the inhabitants of aurora ever have to retool or add new holidays if in the future any significant enough conceptual gods arise?
Is the white dragon real in the sense of as VD's opposite or is she just not real/is just a created god
If so, what's the actual source of the paladin's magic and how does it fit in with the elements?
Can gods channel the elements and be mages?
If so, why didn't VD posses the twins or have a god created for him to channel magic through?
how is VD even able to influence anything if he's stuck inside the adamantine prison?
if the white dragon is real, does she correspond to an eighth element?
is the eighth element soul?
if not what is soul? and is anything in this world not made of "elements" in the "stuff made from a primordial or whatever made them" way?
is adamantine made of the same stuff as soul?
are there more than eight elements?
where do stars come from?
where did the moons come from?
are there more planets besides the world we know?
do they have living things?
does the amalgam star look kind of like the green sun from homestuck (look it up)
do the other 4 promordials (and the 1-2 dragons) have progenitors like life's amalgam star and fire's two mysterious parents?
is or was there a whole society of primordials out in space?
If the promordials happened to develop a different language/alphabet would their great runes look different?
And some fun meta questions and comments:
I love the auroran calender, being that it is far more mathmatically clean and consistent than our own, (I watched your Thoth gambles with the moon video), is this sort of wish fufillment? I also love how you incorporated some chaos back in with the red moon sword and added a three day intercalery period
What are some common tropes you knowingly subverted or played with when writing the story?
It's extremely refreshing that Kendal doesn't have "chosen one" angst, instead he has much more subdued "no one will get hurt because of me" and "am I human?" angst
What's your opinion on tv tropes, (I for one, have wasted so many hours on it)
Did the primordials have a super-fun six man band dynamic?
who was the comic relief?
What's your actual opinion on Erin (I find his character super fun/compelling and I find his hubris hilarious)
The god mechanics have kind of a neil gaiman feel, I love it!
Vash gives off extreme shonen protagonist vibes (like goku + thor + spiderman) Is this on purpose? I love it
Kendal also seems pretty shonen protagonisty
Could you make an entire chapter where Erin just reads one of his magic textbooks and we get an in depth look at the study of magic and everything the people in the story know about it (I'm kidding of course but I also would actually eat that up like chocolate pudding because I'm a total lore junkie)
And sorry this is soooo long, you prob won't respond and I don't want to annoy you, just really curious and excited about your comic!
Holy heck, okay, let's count it down
The lightning that sparks a metal-caste cannot be influenced by another will - so a mage's lightning won't have this effect. If an already-sparked metal-caste is struck by lightning they receive a Second Spark and become a Stormbreaker.
Yep! For instance, almost all Ignans are fire mages.
The Crystal Caste live on the Helm-East continents and were influenced by the increased presence of Stone's bones, which are the source of all natural crystal. They haven't been mentioned in the comic yet, but have been discussed some out here. They're allegedly ruled by the Adamant Caste located on the northern continent, a family descended from the first Adamant King who led a rebellion against the magically dominant Glassfolk that once ruled the region. They possess the unique ability to control and redirect magic other people cast, even more rare among the Crystal-Caste who are very rarely mages of any kind. Under the Adamant Caste on the equatorial continent are three empires in a tense stalemate - the militarily powerful Sapphire Empire, the naturally-protected Ruby Empire shielded by a mountain range and a vast desert, and the weaker Emerald Empire that sprawls on the eastern coast and has only maintained its power at a level comparable to the other two through uniquely cunning tactics and a habit of accepting the talents of non-Crystal-Caste into the court - even some ferin.
Not unless they wanted to. The gods that get festivals are the ones it's easy to theme a party around.
Unknown!
See above!
Nope! The gods control the elements in a completely different way than mortals do. Rather than channeling elemental energy/primordial souls, they seem to impose their own soul on the elements they wish to manipulate, embodying it and reshaping it that way.
See above!
The Void Dragon is a living primordial being. We have no parameters for what abilities we can expect him to have, as all the other primordials we know of are dead. Evidently he can exert a degree of surveillance and physical control outside of his body. Maybe that's something all primordials could do!
Presumably the Light Dragon would correspond to an eighth element.
If soul energy is an element like the other primordials, it doesn't behave the same way any of them do, and it seems to universally permeate everywhere anyone has looked so far.
The nature and origin of soul energy is unknown. The Collector would very much like an answer to the same question!
Adamant is the perfect balanced fusion of the six elemental primordials, and it's a physical substance. Soul energy is a typically invisible energy that permeates everything. They are not the same thing.
Confirmed yes, starmetal is not any of the known elements and is theorized to be literal cooled shards of dead stars. Thus we know there are more elements out there, even if it is just one more element.
The origins of stars are largely unknown, but some observers with very good telescopes claim that new stars sometimes appear in luminous gassy nebulas.
The moons are the destroyed remains of Stone's armaments - a sword and a tower shield. Without him, over time they crumbled and gravity took over. That's why they're called Sword and Shield.
Unknown!
See above!
Pretty dope but no, it's much weirder than that
Yes!
Unknown but possible!
Evidence suggests that the runic language is the writing system of the Primordials, so by definition the runes would look the same.
META QUESTIONS:
Definitely wish fulfillment on my part. I just like it when things evenly divide other things. Is that so wrong?
Oh so many. Chief among them is the Easy Romantic Subplot Between The Male Lead And The First Girl. There was a draft (when I was like eleven) where of course that was going to be a thing, and then I realized I super didn't need to do anything I didn't want to do, and their relationship can just be whatever. Outside of that I don't tend to think of storytelling in terms of what tropes to avoid so much as I let the characters do what makes sense for them, and sometimes that means skipping over more easy stock plots or sources of conflict.
Kendal's flavor of angst is, in my opinion, significantly more relatable than "boohoo having a cosmic destiny and awesome sword is really sad and I wish my life was boring", like even though that's probably what WOULD happen I like this a lot more
love me some TVTropes, I spent like six months in highschool devouring as much of it as I could find and emerged changed - an elevated being, one could say. To this day I like going on TVTropes after I finish a series and just reading through the bite-sized analysis and highlights.
yeup!
definitely Lightning
I love Erin very much. I write a lot of paragons who will always try to do the most morally right thing they can manage - so it's very refreshing to write somebody who literally thinks he's too smart for that. Erin has a moral compass - he even follows it sometimes - but he prides himself on prioritizing real things like knowledge and power. Erin will use any tools he has available to succeed - in theory. In practice he's rigidly principled and it frustrates him immensely. Erin is like a "season 1 villain turned season 2 grumpy ally" except we fully skipped season 1. Erin is also convinced he's the main character, which is very funny to me. Also sometimes it's just fun to write someone being a huge dick to people who deserve it, and since I have a lot of protagonists who either can't or won't stand up for themselves, letting Erin loose on the people hurting them is very cathartic.
Thanks! Neil Gaiman's attitude towards gods definitely influenced me, although I put my own spin on it to make it work in a way I actually fully enjoyed.
Vash's protagonist vibes are absolutely intentional. He is the hero of the wrong story - every brash, powerful, badass protagonist trait I like rolled into one. Literally the most mortifyingly known I've ever felt was when I sent the first chapter to a friend of mine and she saw the first page he talked on and immediately responded "so this dude is based on Inuyasha right?"
Kendal has the outward appearance of the most classic hero I could construct, but on the inside is very different - a lot more melancholy and very laser-focused on his task, caring achingly deeply but slowly learning to let himself be cared for in return. Many hero's journeys focus on the protagonist's personal desires and flaws distracting them from their inevitable quest, but I thought it would be interesting if Kendal had the exact opposite problem - a being driven by a singular heroic purpose learning to let himself do and feel literally anything else.
if we ever get to the Mage Academy this could very well happen and that is a threat

TLDR: A runaway SOLDIER, ironically designed to take out defective SOLDIERS, now working with the Diamond Kings as a vicious vigilante. Deeply troubled, cares a lot about others but nothing about herself.
KEYWORDS: Fearless. Vicious. Intimidating. Confident. Headstrong. Self-destructive. Tough. Paranoid. Sardonic. Practical. Selfless. Self-destructive. Harsh. Unforgiving.
//. MONIKERS: Ironmonger, Iron. //. APPEARANCE: Tall and strong, standing at 6'2"/1.87m with a muscular built. Tanned skin that's uncannily smooth and unblemished. Deep brown eyes that usually carry a bored expression, and do little to hide the inner workings of Iron's mind. Short, brown hair that's so dark it usually appears black, worn in a mane to just above her shoulders. Carries herself with aggression and bravado, marching into any room as if she owns the place. Known for her trademark grin, and to never smile. //. ORIENTATION: Bisexual biromantic, strong femme preference //. OCCUPATION: Enforcer for the Diamond Kings, occasionally fights at Level Four. Spends most of her days making worse people's lives living hell. //. CYBERWARE: SOLDIER implants, geared towards heavy weaponry, close quarters combat and, most notably, taking down others just as 'borged out as her. A walking tank, but wrapped in synth-skin that leaves her unable to scar. For a detailed list, see: TBA. //. PERSONALITY: Broken by the wheel of abuse during her training as a Samurai-VI SOLDIER, Ironmonger has, in her own words, no humanity or goodness left. In reality, there's a noble spirit buried deep down under years of both receiving and inflicting violence. Iron will jump to protect those in need without a second thought for her own safety. She cares for others deeply and sincerely, but will push away anyone getting too close. On the one hand she fears she'll hurt them, on the other she simply doesn't believe she's worth liking, let alone loving. Instead she tries to find her comfort in what money can buy: booze, drugs, and sex. Her years of being forced to kill and somehow cope have left Ironmonger with an addiction to violence. One she's all too happy to indulge in whenever she gets her hands on criminals targeting the innocent, the corporats who form the pillars of the hellscape we live in, and any other twisted motherfucker unlucky enough to cross her path. //. STRENGTHS, SKILLS & ABILITIES: everything you'd expect from a former Samurai-VI SOLDIER; killing and hurting others in all manners known to humankind. Specializes in close quarters combat. Has a knack for intimidation, interrogation, and everything else having to do with instilling fear. Was quick to adapt her former skillset to streetwise applications. Struggles with reading, but can look at a map once and know the directions by heart. //. OTHER: Her actual weight is much higher than even her athletic frame would suggest, due to the amount of implants installed within her. This causes her footsteps to be remarkably loud when she's not making an effort to be quiet. She has no idea how to handle children and is mostly annoyed by them, but she has a soft spot for most animals. Cats especially are sure to draw her attention, and felines tend to be one of few living beings not fearful of her presence.
"Touch me again and you lose the hand."
//. Background (TW for mentions of violence, murder, and child abuse.)
Usually, the combination of training, indoctrination, and the simple facts that they have both nowhere else to go and would also be killed if they were to try, is enough to keep the SOLDIERS of the Samurai-VI project in line. Ironmonger's case wasn't a usual one though, considering the new class the Eisher Corporation needed subjects for.
Try to turn a dog against its own pack, and it's sure to turn upon the one training it.
Luckily for the Eisher Corporation, Ruyxil, the mastermind behind the new branch of the Samurai-VI project, had a plan to address just that particular issue. Some subjects were targeted as a result of their family's involvement with the company's rivals. Some were simply picked at random.
The extractions happened abroad - harder to trace either the physical or paper trail back to Eisher that way. The M.O. was much the same for every subject. Send in the mobsters, locate the child, offer to save their family in return for their servitude. Kill the mobsters, take the subject.
By the time they'd arrived in Japan, their situation was clear: betraying their deal of lifelong servitude meant their families' protection would be... Retro-actively undone.
For that purpose, the safety of her family, she went through living hell for the next fifteen years. Whereas most SOLDIERS were outfitted and trained to deal with a wide variety of situations and enemies, most of which were notably less threatening than themselves, her regiment received specialized training, implants, and weapons to deal with... Themselves. Sentenced to hunt the only other people who could ever understand what they'd gone through.
And oh fuck was she good at it.
Admittedly, she sucked at everything when her training started. So she kept working, kept pushing herself, knowing she had no guarantee what'd happen to her family if she fell behind or even died. They had them start killing at a young age, to better desensitize them. She wasn't good at that at first either. But over time, she got good at it. And over time, to her own disgust, she grew to like it.
By the time she was sent on missions to hunt rogue SOLDIERS, little of the person she once was remained. And she'd gotten horrifyingly good at everything they'd taught her. She earned the moniker Conqueror. For all her merits, life was still horrid, and Ruyxil, now her personal handler, was still cruel.
Eventually, Conqueror was sent on missions abroad. Eventually, she was sent to her homeland of the US. Though she knew it'd be a death sentence for her family if she got caught, she couldn't pass up on the opportunity, if only to just lay eyes on them after all those years.
It turned out they were dead.
So she did the only logical thing - fake her own death. Rogue SOLDIERS were hunted down like rabid dogs. Dead ones were stripped for parts. She left them her armor and a bloody trail to lead them to believe scavengers had picked her cyberware apart. She knew some efforts to search for her would be made, but nothing too much. Projected costs could never exceed expected results, after all.
Conqueror cursed her own name farewell, and took up the new title of Ironmonger. Something some back-ally ripperdoc had called her upon seeing all the chrome she was packing. Returning to Japan, she hid amongst the criminal underworld. They might not be actively looking for her, that didn't mean she couldn't still be picked up by their ever-present security and surveillance systems.
She started going on a violent crusade against the corporation that'd taken everything from her and every other motherfucker who was unlucky enough to both cross her path and deserve it. Eventually, she caught the eye of someone within the Diamond Kings and passed their initiation trials with flying colors. She's been one of the gang's terrifyingly violent hands ever since.

Note
Does it bother anyone else that Divine Smite is only able to be done with melee weapons? What if I want to play a different sort of Paladin that's not a tanky dude/dudette wielding a sword or axe? What if I want to pull an analogue to Link and turn my arrows into Divine Smited ones to vanquish evil? Or my character is from a culture where swords or axes aren't as common but spears are and I want my Divine Smited spear to come down from afar like a divine bolt from the heavens? What if I want to imitate Thor and throw a Divine Smited hammer at my foes instead of smashing it directly into their faces up close?
If there was an explanation like, "From the time you can pull out your bow, cast that, release the arrow and have it hit, that takes too long and the divine magic fades mid-flight to become a normal shot again, so that's why we have to stick it to melee because it's faster", I'd begrudgingly accept that. But there's no explanation I can find! Just RAW says no, and it bugs me.
It's bothered me and a few others before in critical moments before as well.
But there is a logical explanation, just not necessarily a fun one.
GAME MECHANICS.
