It all started because of a school project, technically two projects, while it wasn't a world ending threat they set of a change reaction that lead to startling discoveries.
Mr Lancer had given the class the task of looking through their pasts and finding an life changing event that helped shape them into the person that were today and writing about that event.
It was a ten page essay (they were allowed to go over that limit) the more details the better and if you had something from that event to show (such as photos or keepsakes or really anything) you were awarded extra credit.
Danny's choice of event was the school field trip to a nearby museum he went on when he was seven, the space exhibit they had was what sparked his love for the stars and kick-started his dreams of being an astronaut.
It wasn't like he had any other choice (he doubted mister Lancer would accept 'my death' as a good life changing event)
He knew that he had photos of the field trip somewhere with all the other photos taken throughout his life, he just had to find them.
And after digging through thousands of boxes and piles of discarded inventions he handled with care (in case they blew up) he found them tucked inside an old photo album covered in green stains that sat on top of a bookshelf.
Opening the book caused all the pictures to fall into his lap, it seems like his parents didn't get around to actually adding them to the book, Danny resigned himself to spending the rest of his day shifting through old photos.
It wasn't all bad though, he found pictures of when Sam still had blonde hair and wore pink and of that time Tucker wrote an 'I love you' on his parents cars with their keys and many other embarrassing photos.
A treasure trove of blackmail material.
He finally found the picture he was looking for.
All of the kids who are now students of Casper high stood in front of an old building each proudly holding up something they bought in the gift shop (Danny had bought a book on planets that had long ago fallen apart)
It was a normal photo.
And yet, something seemed off.
Sam and Tucker were there with him in between them, Dash was there too.
Along with Kwan, Mikey, Paulina, Valerie, and all the others.
And yet, something was missing.
Then it hit him.
Wes wasn't there.
Danny could've sworn that he had been on that trip, but the more he thought about it the less he was sure.
He couldn't actually remember Wes being there and Danny remembered nearly everything about that trip.
'Maybe he was sick or something?' It was the most logical thing he could think of to explain the other absence, that and his parents not wanting him to go for some reason.
Mystery solved he pushed it to the back of his mind , he had an essay to finish.
Still, it stuck with him.
-----------------------------
The next school project Lencer gave them was one with assigned partners.
Danny got Wes who, despite not being Sam or Tucker, was leagues better then Dash and he'd take that as a win.
Wes had insisted on studying at his house so he could, and Danny quotes "Keep an eye on you Fenton"
Danny could practically feel the hidden cameras burning a hole into him while he stood in front of the Weston's door, waiting for him to go ghost for whatever reason.
Jokes on him though, Danny asked all the ghosts to leave him along for this month with the promise of giving them a head start the next time they caused trouble, so really Wes was just wasting his time.
"This way." Wes said already heading inside without caring if Danny followed.
Being the first time he had ever been in Wes's home Danny looked at everything and anything.
It was a fairly normal home, not like Danny's which had an anti-ghost defense system or Sam's super rich house.
But more like Tuckers
One of the things that drew his attention was the pictures that lined the walls.
There were so many.
Some with Wes and his mom, some with just him, some with just his mom, and some with people Danny didn't recognise.
But there were no baby photos.
The only pictures Danny could find of a young Wes seemed to be from when he was eight? Nine?
And nothing before.
'Maybe they were put away in storage' Danny guessed, but it still made his brain itch.
He remembered looking at old school photos and not finding any sign of a young Wes at all, he didn't even remember Wes coming to school any time before the year Danny turned eight.
And in a small town where everyone knew everyone that really wasn't possible.
'Maybe they moved here and lost a lot of stuff' Which would explain a lot, well no harm in asking. "Did you loss a lot when you moved here?"
Wes stopped walking and turned around to give him a look that asked if he was insane. "I've lived here my whole life, Fenton."
Danny froze, that couldn't be right, he'd remember that.
Something was wrong.
---------------------------------
Tim Drake sat in front of the bat computer as the rest of his family patrolled.
He had one monitor displaying the other bats locations while all the other monitors were used to show him files, or rather the lack there of.
Wayne Enterprises had tournaments held for schools and the prize was an all express paid trip to Gotham and tour of WE and surrounding areas, Tim could think of way better prizes that weren't visiting the crime capital of the world but that wasn't the point.
What was the point was that every time there was a winner Tim preformed a routine background check on students and staff (and by routine he means learn their whole live story) just in case anyone happened to be trained assassins set to kill one of them, stranger things have happened.
Wes Weston was one such student whose background Tim had to check.
And he found nothing.
Sure, there were hospital and school documents from age eight and upwards, but other then that nothing.
There was no birth certificate, no evidence of him attending daycare, nothing.
It was as if Wes did not exist before he was eight years old.
And perhaps the most interesting thing.
Amy Weston was listed as Wes's biological mother, DNA even said as much, and yet Amy's medical file said that she had never been pregnant and also had no siblings that could've been Wes's parent.
And yet Wes existed, appearing one day as if he had always been there.
Was it cloning? Aliens? Magic? A changeling? Someone creating false information to hide the truth?
It was a mystery, and mysteries had always been Tim's Kryptonite.

Joey B Imagines: Nonsense*
Tumblr media
————————————————————————-
Summary: A coupon book you give Joe for Christmas as a joke turns into you doing something completely out of your comfort zone.
Warnings: Smut
Pairing: Joe Burrow x reader
Imagine universe: Everlasting Love
————————————————————————-
December 29, 2023
(y/n’s pov)
Sitting in bed, bored.
Seems like all I've been doing since I got back to Athens.
I missed Joe with every fiber of my being. I would give so much just to be able to reach out and touch his soft skin, his blonde locks, and feel the warmth his body emitted.
It was later in the night, ten o'clock.
Joe was probably asleep already, but he hadn't texted me yet saying goodnight.
Maybe he just got busy, I thought.
My thoughts started wandering. I was getting nervous about why Joe hadn't texted me all evening.
Almost as if he could read my mind before I got too worried, Joe texted me.
Hey, baby. You're prob asleep but I'm sorry I'm just getting to you now. I was over at Sam’s and my phone died. He was being a dick and wouldn't let me use his charger for some reason.
Anyways, goodnight, I love you.
I laughed slightly at his text, able to picture Sam arguing with Joe because he didn't want him using his charger.
I'm awake actually. Sam’s stupid btw, and I love you too.
Watching the bubbles pop up quickly, it was just a few seconds later when Joe texted back.
Since you're awake, wanna ft?
Sure!
Seconds later Joe’s name showed up on my screen and I immediately accepted the call.
I was met with Joe’s smiling face when the call connected. He was lying in bed shirtless, curls slightly wet while leaning against the headboard.
“Hi, baby.” - Joe grinned
Immediately, I recognized how deep his voice was. His voice generally dropped an octave when he was tired or aroused, and right now, I had a feeling it could be both.
“Hi, Joey. What are you up to?” - you
“Lying here in bed, thinking about you and how much I want you in this bed.” - Joe
After giggling at his admission, Joe continued.
“I was just thinking about your week here, and then I started thinking about sex… and that coupon book you gave me.” - Joe groaned
“You are insatiable, Joe.” - you giggled
“Fuck… I want you so bad right now.” - Joe
“Well, you're two hours away.” - you
“I swear, I'm always the horniest when you're away. It's like my dick’s betraying me.” - Joe
I absolutely snorted, laughing at his confession.
“I’m sorry it's like that and that I can't do anything to help you, baby.” - you
“Not your fault. I just can't stop thinking about you… and being inside of you.” - Joe
“If it makes you feel any better… I think about you all the time. Wish I could suck you off through Facetime.” - you giggled
“Shit, don't say that.” - Joe
“Why not?” - you grinned
“I’m getting super fucking hard right now. I'm just trynna wait for my hard-on to go away, but that's not possible if you keep saying things that make my dick twitch.” - Joe
“Boy, you're feeling very blunt tonight.” - you laughed
“Sorry… I know I get whiney when I'm horny. If I get too annoying just hang up.” - Joe
“You’re not being annoying. Not wrong about the whiney part, though. Like I said, if I could help you I would.” - you
Joe sat for a second, looking like he was deep in thought.
Out of nowhere, he got that ‘lightbulb!’ Look on his face and sat up on the bed with a grin.
“What if there was a way you could?” - Joe
“What are you saying?” - you
“Can I cash in a coupon virtually?” - Joe
I thought for a second. I mean, I didn't want to make him wait to use them just when I was in Cincinnati.
“Yeah, I guess.” - you
“Fuck yeah!” - Joe
Giggling at Joe as he fist-punched the air and did a little dance, I waited to see which one he wanted to use.
“Remember you can only use one a day.” - you
“Oh, I know. I only need one.” - Joe
“Which one do you want to cash in, baby?” - you
Joe flicked through the little booklet, trying to find the one he wanted.
“Ooo! I quote… extra sexy lap dance.” - Joe
I gave him a “what?” look but he only grinned devilishly. His tongue poked out as he bit down on it.
“Joe, how am I gonna give you a lap dance when you're two hours away?” - you laughed
“Just do it right here, on call.” - Joe
A few seconds of silence passed, his cheeky smile oddly convincing.
“Okay.” - you
“Yes!” - Joe yelled
“I’ll be right back, I have to change and grab my speaker.” - you
——
I turned my camera back on once everything was set up. I already had a routine planned for a song and everything, but doing this over the phone would be so different.
Having to essentially dance and grind on my bed, pretending it was Joe.
“You ready?” - you
“So fucking ready.” - Joe
Pressing play on Nonsense by Sabrina Carpenter, I immediately started moving my hips in the most sensual way possible.
Just pretend you're in a club, performing for Joe.
Hearing Joe make a strangled noise gave me more confidence, he's enjoying this.
A few seconds later, I straddled the bed and started paying attention to the phone.
“Can I touch myself? Please?” - Joe
“Go ahead.” - you purred
Joe slid his hand down his pants and immediately wrapped it around his hard length.
“Fuck.” - Joe grunted
He was trying to match the movement of my hips with the slow pumps of his hand.
I could tell he was conflicted between closing his eyes or not. With his eyes closed, he could easily pretend it was my hand jerking him off, but he wanted to watch me.
A minute in, a third of the way through the song, Joe was moaning loudly.
“You… are so… goddam pretty.” - Joe groaned
Just a few seconds later, Joe abruptly pulled his hand out of his pants, and I heard the waistband snap against his stomach.
“I have to stop, I can’t cum yet…” - Joe breathed heavily
I stopped moving around, but Joe didn't like that one bit.
“Not you! Keep going, baby!” - Joe
Moments passed as I watched Joe bite on his lower lip, slowly rubbing over his bulge with his palm.
“Joe, there's a minute left of the song. You might wanna start back up.” - you
So he did. Joe immediately moved his hand back down his pants and pumped his cock faster than before.
“Good Girl, baby.” - Joe moaned
Joe’s head fell back as his chest started heaving, sweat dancing over his bare torso.
“Fuck! I'm gonna cum!” - Joe
“Joe, please take your shorts off. I wanna watch you.” - you
He immediately did my bidding.
I watched Joe lift his hips and pull his shorts down with one hand, never once letting go of his erection.
Joe grabbed his phone and brought it closer to his cock to give me a better view of one of my favorite parts of him.
“See what… you fucking- do to me?” - Joe
He was right. The entire shaft was beet red as his tip was wet from the precum constantly leaking out.
I watched his cock throb one last time before a loud moan left Joe’s lips, and he shot his load onto his hand and stomach.
“Shit…” - Joe hissed
Joe dropped his phone face down onto the bed, his screen was pitch black but I could still hear soft whimpers in his breath.
Pausing my music and getting under the covers of my bed, I got comfortable before checking on Joe.
“You okay, Joey?” - you
“Mhm. I'm just cleanin’ up.” - Joe
“Okay.” - you hummed
A minute later, Joe crawled into bed and picked up his phone.
One thing I loved about Joe was his post-orgasm expression. He always had this delirious smile with tired, hooded eyes.
“You want me to dance while you get off?” - Joe
“Babe, I love you, but I don't think head bobbing and the airplane is gonna help me out much in that department.” - you laughed
“What about my get the gat dance?” - Joe
I snorted when Joe formed a gun with his hand and did a little move with it.
“If you have the cigar, then yes.” - you giggled
Joe went to say something but when he opened his mouth the only thing that came out was a yawn.
“Noted.” - Joe finally said when his yawn was over
We just sat there for a moment, staring at each other with smiles on our faces.
“You seem pretty tired, baby.” - you
“After that orgasm? Yes. I don't think I've ever come that hard from jerking off.” - Joe
“It’s my effect on you, huh?” - you joked
“For real.” - Joe yawned again
“Goodnig-” - you
“Wait… can we just stay on FaceTime? I wanna fall asleep with you.” - Joe
“Of course.” - you
Butterflies erupted in my stomach as Joe placed his phone on the pillow next to his, the one I was sleeping on last week.
“Goodnight, y/n. I love you.” - Joe
“Goodnight, Joe. I love you too.” - you
A few minutes passed by and I heard his light snores through my phone speaker, causing me to smile.
I thought about hanging up, but instead plugged my phone in on my nightstand.
Though I wouldn't physically be falling asleep next to Joe, I knew he was with me.
And with him is where I wanted to always be.

I’m Not Your F*cking Maid
Chapter 7
Dean and I stood side by side in the dimly lit parking lot, trying not to make eye contact with each other as Sam stood in front of us; arms folded across his chest with his foot tapping impatiently. He gnawed on his bottom lip, frowning and shaking his head. He was the spitting image of an angry mother.
“You did what?” He asked, disbelief in his voice.
“Look, Sammy,” Dean started and I was unable to tell if he was about to be boastful or apologetic.
“Don’t you ‘look Sammy’ me. We’re on a job Dean, couldn’t you have kept it in your pants a bit longer?”
“Sam I’m so sorry, we didn’t mean for it to happen, it just sort of…did,” I stepped in, embarrassment taking over as I caught sight of my reflection in the Impalas drivers side window. My hair was tousled and my lipstick was almost completely worn off save for a few streaks under my bottom lip. That, and also the fact that my shredded underwear was currently scrunched up in Deans pocket. I couldn’t tell if I was more horrified when I saw him pick them up off the study floor and ‘save them for later’, or the fact that I may have developed a new kink for having my panties sliced off my body with a hunting knife.
“(Y/n),” Sam’s eyes softened, “you have nothing to apologise for; Dean should know better.” His words made Dean scoff.
“She’s not all sunshine and rainbows Sam, she’s the one who started it.”
“I did not! I only told you to kiss me, not fuck me into that desk!”
Sam’s eyes widened and his ears went pink, Dean snapping back at me before the younger brother had a chance to think.
“Yes you did.”
“No I didn’t.”
“Did.”
“Didn’t.”
“Yes, you definitely did. Don’t lie,” he paused, his tone changing, “you can’t deny it sweetheart - you wanted me,” Dean smirked, gesturing to himself.
“Ok, prove it - what did I say?” I crossed my arms across my chest, remembering I wasn’t wearing a bra. His smirk grew, suddenly making me very aware that I was most likely wrong about this and he was going to be obnoxious about the fact that he was right.
“You said - and I quote - ‘are you gonna fuck me or what, Winchester?’ Now to me, that sounds like you instigating this.”
I scowled at him, wanting to slap that lipstick-smeared smirk right off his face.
“Fuck you,” I spat, rapidly having to cross my legs where I stood as I started to feel more ‘essence of Dean’ trickle down my thigh.
“You already did darlin’.”
“Ok ENOUGH!” Sam got between us, putting up his hands, “let’s just finish the job and go home. But just so you know,” he pointed at us, “you are BOTH in VERY big trouble.”
*
The ride back to the bunker was a little awkward. I sat in the back, not wanting to move too much for fear of making a mess on the impeccable upholstery and Sam sat in total silence, giving us both the cold shoulder. Dean however drove the whole way home with the biggest grin on his face, occasionally glancing at me in the rear view mirror. Sam had taken the liberty of packing everyone’s luggage into the Impala before we had even left the auction house, so I wasn’t even granted the simple pleasure of washing Deans intoxicating scent from my hair in the motel shower. I just had to sit there for the next three hours breathing him in and replaying every red hot second of our time together in that study.
*
Dean pulled into the underground garage to the bunker and before he’d even put it in park I’d thrown the door open and jumped out, racing back to my room. I heard Dean shout after me but I had sprinted too far to know what he’d said. I ran through the corridors like a princess in a castle; long dress bunched up in my fists so I didn’t trip, with the rest billowing behind me as I frantically searched for my destination in this labyrinth. Upon reaching my door I flung it open and raced inside, slamming it behind me. I paced into the bathroom, heels clicking on the tiles and flicked on the light before turning the shower on and wincing at the loud clanking still coming from the plumbing in here. As the water began to patter into the shower basin I hurriedly peeled off my shoes and my dress before sticking my toe into the water now pooling in the bottom. The moment it was the perfect temperature I stepped in, sighing as the liquid poured over me and washed away the electric tingle on my skin left behind by the older Winchesters hands. I felt normal again, and much less sticky too as I lathered soap over myself. I couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief as I slid down the tiles and sat down, letting the shower soak my hair. I tried my best to steady my mind and be calm, but all that I could think about was Dean. The way he touched me, running his rough hands over my soft skin. The way said my name; moaning it in a deep breathless voice. And oh boy… the way his mouth felt on mine was like something out of this world, the taste of him alone made me dizzy. I wanted to run to wherever he was right now and press my lips to his - to get high off of him again. It’s a crying shame that he’s such a jackass, so naturally I’m reluctant to give him the satisfaction. He’d be smug for days - or weeks - if I even mentioned that this was how I was feeling, let alone if I was actually acting on the impulses.
I must’ve sat in the bottom of the shower for at least twenty minutes, my brain going over the events on a loop, replaying again and again. In the end I gave up trying to silence my thoughts and turned off the water, stepped out of the shower and wrapped a fuzzy white towel around myself. I grabbed a smaller second towel and dried my hair, leaving it damp but not dripping as I walked into the bedroom. I searched for my duffle for a few minutes before it dawned on me: it was still in the car. ALL of my clothes were in there.
“Shit shit shit shit,” I searched through the wardrobe and dresser in the room, hoping to find something, ANYTHING, that I could wear to go and retrieve my bag but there was nothing to be found. I sat on the edge of the bed contemplating my options as I started to shiver, my damp hair making me cold. I considered wearing the dress again, but the stains on it made me think otherwise as I was now clean and fresh from the shower. My eyes darted to the door. There’s only one option: theft. Deans room was right opposite mine and he didn’t spend much time in there so the chances of me running into him were slim. I stood up, determination coursing through me as I marched to my bedroom door, opened it and quietly stepped into the hallway. I looked left and right, sighing in relief at the emptiness. I quietly padded across to Deans door, incredibly aware of how cold the air was out here. I grasped the handle and twisted, the door opening with a small click.
“Yes!” I whispered to myself, grateful it was already unlocked. Ducking in I closed the door behind me and spun around, pressing my back to the cool wood to observe the room. Eyes widening, my blood ran cold and I dropped to the floor. Dean was asleep - or so he seemed to be - above the covers and still fully dressed in his suit, a nudie mag open and covering his face. He had one hand behind his head and the other rested on his stomach, rising and falling with each breath. FUCK. I looked around whilst on all fours, feeling the dust from the floor sticking to my damp skin. So much for the shower. I spotted Deans dresser off to the side of the room; if he was asleep, I should be able to sneak in, grab a T-shirt and sneak out again with no problem. I crawled over to the drawers and started sliding them open painfully slowly to inspect the contents. It wasn’t until I opened the fourth drawer that I struck gold. Silently cheering to myself I snatched the first T-shirt I saw and pushed the draw closed. As I turned around to leave I near enough jumped out of my skin, shrieking a little. Dean was now laying on his side, head propped up with one hand and he watched me in total silence, the corner of his lips turned up.
“You need any help down there?” His voice was low and gravelly.
“No thank you,” I stood up, clutching his T-shirt in one hand and trying not to let my towel fall with the other, the corner now refusing to tuck in. “I got what I came for.”
“And you need one of my T-shirts because…?”
“None of your business,” I taunted, inching my way towards the door. Dean raised an eyebrow.
“It is if you’re being a little thief.”
“I’m only borrowing it.”
“Sure you are sweetheart,” he grinned, turning to lay on his back again, this time propped up on his pillows against the headboard with his hands behind his head. There was silence for a few moments as he chewed on his bottom lip, eyeing me up and down. He made me feel totally exposed. Out of nowhere he jumped up, reaching me where I stood by the door in one swift movement.
“I tell you what - you can keep the T-shirt for life on one condition,” he stepped closer, those piercing green eyes keeping mine entranced. I swallowed.
“What condition…?” My voice suddenly felt very small and quiet as a result of his close proximity.
“Drop the towel and put it on.”
“Excuse me?”
“You heard me.”
I wasn’t able to stop the heat rising to my cheeks and I couldn’t tell if it was from frustration at his arrogance or the fact that the low rumble of his voice was making my knees weak. The words bouncing off the walls in my mind failed to leave my lips, and in my silence he spoke up again.
“Or unless you’re happy walking all the way to the garage in nothing but a towel, you still have the option to refuse.” I scowled and smacked his chest.
“You knew?! If you knew I’d left my bag behind, why didn’t you bring it?”
“Because,” he put his hand on the wall beside my head and leaned in a little, “where’s the fun in that?” I tried my best to hold his gaze, fighting every urge to look away as my heart started to beat faster and faster. I’ve already fucked the man so what have I got to lose? I placed my hands firmly on Deans chest and pushed with enough force to knock him back, the backs of his knees hitting the edge of the bed, making him collapse onto it. Leaning back on his hands he looked at me expectantly as I took a step towards him and away from the door. I tried my best to keep a stern expression, refusing to let him know that any of this was affecting me - the last thing I wanted was for smug old Dean Winchester to know that everything he does makes my heart hammer in my chest. I threw the T-shirt at him, hard enough that he was taken aback as he clutched the dark fabric in his large hands. A look of disappointment started to cross his face before I reached up and untucked my towel letting it fall to the floor as I stood in front of him, fighting every urge not to cover myself up. At first I was unable to look him in the eye, scared of what that alluring evergreen stare would do to me if I did. Eventually I caved in, biting my lip as I saw how entranced he was; eyes flitting over every curve on my body, studying me like a work of art. I watched him swallow, throat bobbing as he licked his lips, jaw going slack and his pupils dilating. He was silent. I took another step forward so I was in reach of him and his hand immediately shot out to touch my thigh. Right as his fingers grazed my skin I smacked his hand away, pulling him from his trance.
“Please…” was all he managed to say, all cockiness gone from his attitude. I snatched the T-shirt from his loose grip, pulling it on over my head and down over my body, finally covering myself from his burning hot gaze. Dean was finally pulled from his trance when he could no longer see the curves of my figure, his eyes eventually meeting mine again. He looked a little flustered, his hands now crossed in his lap.
“My clothes look good on you,” he said, an unusual tone to his voice - something I couldn’t quite put my finger on. He eyed my chest, observing the way the loose black fabric fell over the soft curves of my breasts and did little to hide my perky nipples. His eyes travelled south, surveying the rest of me before stopping and lingering at my thighs right where his top ends, hinting at the shape of my ass cheeks hiding underneath. He probably would have sat there all evening and ogled at me, however I could feel the tiredness start to hang heavy in my body and weigh on my eyelids, getting worse as the minutes passed. I groaned internally, remembering I still needed to go and get my duffle. But there was something about the way that Dean was looking at me that was making it hard to leave. I took a few more steps towards him until I was standing between his knees, swatting his hands away as they skimmed the backs of my thighs, sending goosebumps over my skin. I grabbed his chin unexpectedly, making him flinch. However it was only a matter of seconds until he was like putty in my hands. His muscles relaxed and he looked up at me with hooded eyes, mouth agape as I tilted his chin up to face me. I leaned down, our lips millimetres apart as I felt his hot rapid breath fan over my cheeks. I watched his pupils blow wide at the close proximity, a shiver ghosting over his skin as he stared up at me.
“Goodnight Dean,” I hummed, before letting go and standing up straight, turning to leave the room. I picked up my towel and opened the door, looking over my shoulder one last time to witness the starstruck Winchester sitting in a daze right where I left him.
“Thanks for the T-shirt.”

she’d been staring at you from her spot on the bench. you’re happily chatting away with kyra, your arms flailing about as the two of you animatedly speak at rather then to one another. it’s not like she had intended to stare directly at you, she couldn’t help the fact that her eyes somehow always managed to find you wherever the two of you were. sometimes she thought that perhaps the reason she was so drawn to you was because of the light aura that surrounded you, practically begging for the attention of anyone within fifty meters of you.
jessie sighed and leant back “i’ve tried that. lost my nerve everytime i got too close” she confesses quietly as you and kyra begin to walk towards the tunnel, still caught up in eachother.
as you get closer to where sam and jessie are sitting, you lock eyes with jess over kyra’s shoulder and smile. jessie somehow manages to sink further into her seat and give you a small wave before kyra follows your line of sight. the arsenal midfielder brightly smiles at jessie and her national captain, pairing it with an enthusiastic wave before turning around back to you and shoving you in the shoulder.
upon contact, your eyes widen and dart to kyra who can only snicker in response. she throws her head back and laughs wildly into the tunnel, the joyful sound bouncing off the walls and flowing back out to the two chelsea players like a melody.
sam watches the whole interaction closely, a half smirk present on her face as she watches the younger midfielder kick out her legs and run her hands over her face. jessie sighs deeply and looks to sam with her eyebrows dropped and mouth in a straight line.
“this shit is clearly eating at you, jess, just go talk to her” sam pushes carefully “what’s the worst that could happen?”
jessie rolls her eyes “she could avoid me for all of time”
sam’s expression drops almost comically. she of all people know that jessie is dead wrong, there have been numerous times where you had ranted to sam about your, quote, ‘helpless, pathetic and straight up embarrassing’ crush on the canadian. every conversation ended with sam trying to push you to tell your close friend, only to be met without loud protests and excuses.
sam kisses her teeth “she won’t avoid you”
“you’re just saying that to get me out of my head”
“jessie, seriously, i’m not pushing for no reason” sam says sternly “if this is really bothering you then go talk to her. tell her how you feel. you know that, if anything, she’d appreciate your honesty”
cogs rapidly turn in jessie’s head as she thinks of every outcome possible. realistically she knows that sam is right, you would appreciate her honesty and that you probably wouldn’t avoid her, at least not forever. the canadian doesn’t know if it’s sam’s encouraging words or just a surge of confidence that makes her wipe her palms on her shorts before shooting up out of her seat, a determined look on her face as she turns to sam.
“i’m gonna do it” she says confidently
a smile immediately breaks on sam’s face and she hits the back of her hand against her teammate’s hip encouragingly “go on, jess! come back immediately and tell me how it goes!”
jessie doesn’t spare her another glance as she trudges on, her confidence still going steady as she approaches the tunnel. she’s wringing out her hands and going over what to say in her head when she gets to the entrance, her newfound confidence suddenly nose diving as she looks up.
your back is facing towards her, your number and last name on full display, as a pair of tan hands snake their way around your neck and pull you in. your hands immediately go to the waist of the person that’s holding you and that’s when she sees it. the number thirty two printed proudly on the shorts of the person you’re kissing.
kyra.
jessie’s heart drops and she doesn’t hesitate to turn on her heel and speed walk straight back to sam, feeling guilty that she had missed the signs that one of her closest friends was in a relationship. her face burns red as the image replays over and over in her head. she couldn’t help but feel jealous of the fact that kyra was the one who had her hands and lips all over you and not her. she couldn’t help but curse herself for thinking that perhaps your friendship was something it clearly wasn’t.
she sits back down next to sam wordlessly, the latter looking up from her phone confused “what, did you chicken out again?” sam snickers unknowingly.
jess almost curls in on herself “you… did you know she’s with kyra?” the midfielder all but whispers like she’s telling a secret
sam’s eyes go wide, her expression blown out with shock “i beg your pardon?” she questions, confusion laced in her words
jessie looks to her friend blankly “did she ever mention that she’s seeing kyra?” she asks again.
“she’s not with kyra” sam assures confidently “i would know if her and kyra were dating” she says, brows furrowing
wordlessly, and quite helplessly, jessie leans her head back and closes her eyes “i just saw them kissing, they looked pretty together to me”
whatever sam was looking at on her phone before jessie sat back down is long forgotten as she stands abruptly. she shakes out her shoulders and immediately staunches the way jessie came, brows furrowed and mouth turned in a frown.
jessie is quick to react “sam! what are you doing”
“what does it look like i’m doing? i’m going to go talk to her” sam replied huffing, her brows furrowed
“it looks like you’re going to get mad at our friend for being in a relationship” jessie says. her brown eyes are blown wide and pleading at sam to stay put.
sam sighs and pinches the bridge of her nose “jess you don’t get it”
jessie’s face scrunches up in confusion “what do you mean i don’t get it? there’s no rules saying that you can’t date someone in your team and it’s not like you’ve had a problem with it before!”
the australian striker physically deflates and looks back and forth between the direction you went in and the canadian in front of her. her eyes swirl with inner conflict, like she’s trying her hardest to come up with a solution for something she deems a problem. jessie doesn’t know what’s come over sam, there’s no reason for her to be angry right now. sometimes things just don’t work out the way you want them to but that isn’t a reason why sam would be reacting this way.
kyra was a good person and the two of you clearly got along well. sure, she’d fallen into the annoying little sister role for both arsenal and the matildas but she was a talented player who knew how to put her head down and get to work. there have been multiple occasions where sam has done nothing but praise kyra as a person and a player, so for her to suddenly be up in arms about the possibility of the two of you dating is just ridiculous.
sam waves jessie off “don’t worry about it” she says quietly as she sits back down “you’re right, it’s not a big deal”
———
jessie has been avoiding you for almost three weeks now and she’s been shit at pretending she’s not.
of course, she keeps it professional enough that it doesn’t affect the team, but she can’t keep it private enough to keep said team out of your business. when they ask you what jessie’s problem is the only answer you can give them is a vague one, a mere shoulder shrug when you really aren’t in the mood, and send them on their way.
it has been killing you because it happened gradually. first she’d text you less, then she told you that there was no need to carpool anymore, and now she was doing everything in her power to avoid you whenever you had to partner up for training or the bus. you were fucking sick of it.
jessie wasn’t like this at all. if she was mad she’d give the silent treatment for maybe two days before coming back, always preferring to talk things out. because of this you know that she felt comfortable and secure enough within your friendship to come to you on the rare occasion she had an issue. you really had tried everything you could think of from texting her more, to trying to make conversation when you two would happen to be walking into cobham at the same time. you even bought her the odd coffee and left it in her cubby but nothing was working.
which lead you here, curled up on your couch moping around just praying that she’d put you out of your misery and shoot you a quick text.
she obviously didn’t, but it’s good to have ambition.
you can feel your mind going numb as a result of the pretty little liars re-binge you were currently on, too unfocused to watch a show you hadn’t before. it probably wasn’t a good idea though since you’d convinced jessie to watch it with you. you could practically hear her peanut gallery commentary in the back of your mind running on repeat like a broken record.
to say you were in shambles was a bit of an understatement, which is probably what leads kyra into your home. she doesn’t knock, because when does she ever, choosing to instead announce herself loudly as she walks through the door. you don’t answer her but she follows the noise of the tv straight into your living room.
you’re laying on your side under a throw blanket with a miserable look on your face and she can tell that you haven’t moved in a few hours. she gasps when she sees alison dramatically turn around on screen, followed by the signature line ‘did you miss me?”.
the gunner looks between you and the tv “oh wow you’re really going through it, normally that scene gets a reaction out of you everytime” she says whilst manoeuvring herself around you, sitting on your feet at the end of the couch.
she pats your leg “tell kyra what’s wrong”
“you know what’s wrong” you murmur sourly, pulling the blanket further up to your chin
kyra clicks her tongue “jessie still not speaking to you?”
“no!” you say forcefully whilst sitting up “i don’t know what i’ve done! she won’t even be in the same room as me for longer than five minutes” you exclaim
the midfielder purses her lips “that’s a bit of a stretch”
“kyra—”
“okay yup, not helping, fully understood”
you sigh and flop back down on the couch, throwing your arm over your face incase you start tearing up “i just miss her so much”
kyra hears the slight break in your voice and her face softens. she reaches for you and pulls your arm off your face before pulling you up and into her, wrapping her arms protectively around you “she’ll come around, y/n/n. it might not even be about you”
you scoff into her chest “she’s speaking to everyone on the team but me and it’s like whenever i’m around, sam magically appears and creates even more distance between us”
“what?” kyra asks shocked, pushing you back ever so slightly so she can look at you “sam? as in sammy?”
you meekly nod “i don’t know what i’ve done and no one will tell me”
kyra’s mouth turns down in a frown just as tears well up in your eyes, they quickly spill over your waterline in waves and you’re unable to stop them until they’ve completely soaked kyra’s jumper. she runs her hand through your hair as you cry to her, unsure of what to do or say in this situation. sam wasn’t normally one to get involved unless she felt like she absolutely had to so the fact that she was actively making sure that there was always distance between you and jessie puzzled the young midfielder.
your head snaps towards your front door when you hear it open and close, whoever just walked in choosing not to knock like kyra.
sam quietly walks into your living room, clearly not expecting you to have company if her wide eyes are anything to go by “i didn’t realise you had company”
your brow quirks “what are you doing here?” you ask breathlessly.
sam shuffles her feet as she notices your puffy eyes and pink face “we really need to talk”
dread overcomes you, her words sending a chill up your spine “what’s going on with jessie?” you ask, almost afraid of the answer.
the striker’s face contorts before settling again “that’s what we need to talk about” her voice is quiet as she looks to kyra “but i don’t know if kyra needs to hear this”
kyra immediately stands “i can leave it’s-”
“no” you say forcefully
“y/n” sam says through gritted teeth “this isn’t a conversation you want your girlfriend to hear”
both you and kyra’s jaws drop, your eyebrows have raised the highest they’ve ever raised before and you stare at sam in disbelief
“girlfriend!”
“girlfriend?”
you’re both shocked, and quite confused about where sam got that idea from “after the conversations we’ve had why on fucking earth would you think that kyra and i are together!?” your voice raises “have you finally done your head in?”
kyra quickly looks between the two of you “we- no. no, no, no” kyra exclaims whilst waving her hands in an X motion.
“but jessie said-”
“jessie”
sam sighs before starting her sentence again “jessie said that she saw the two of you kissing in the tunnel a couple weeks ago, after the game”
you wrack your brain for what exactly sam could be referring to until it hits you. you bury your face in your hands just as kyra has the sam realisation.
“oh my god we weren’t kissing! i was teasing her about not making a move on jessie yet, it was a joke” kyra defends “i was pretending to kiss her to take the piss out of her, not to actually kiss her”
your captain pulls her lips into a thin line and sighs once again, squeezing her eyes shut “you’re telling me that it only looked like the two of you were kissing because kyra wanted you to kiss jessie?” she asks tiredly
“yes!” the pair of you exclaim in unison, eager for sam to understand that it was all just a joke.
you pull your face out of your hands confused “why would she even care about that?” you ask cluelessly, clearly too focused on the impossible idea that you and kyra were a couple.
sam and kyra stare at eachother silently, the pair wearing identical blank expressions. the hours you’ve spent in front of the tv must’ve really melted your brain because you take longer than needed to understand why jess could’ve possibly been so upset with the thought that you were dating your matildas teammate.
upon realisation, you throw the blanket off yourself and practically push kyra out of the way as you leap up out of your seat to hastily grab your car keys from the kitchen counter. you don’t waste anytime racing to your front door and sliding on your birkenstocks over your socks before practically throwing your front door open “if you leave lock my door and turn off my tv! ‘kay thanks bye!” you shout from halfway out of your flat.
“where are you going?” kyra questions
you pop your head back in “to go see the woman i’m actually in love with!”
you hear kyra let out a grunt of disbelief before you race to your car, not even caring that you’re not really dressed for london weather at the moment. the only thought running though your mind being jessiejessiejessie.
———
jessie’s sat on her bed reading when she hears someone pounding at her front door, practically jumping out of her skin as she throws her covers off herself and speed walks to the entrance. she opens her door to you dressed in your old brisbane roar jumper and a pair of gray sweats, a nervous but wild look on your face.
her brain short circuits as she looks at you, her hand fiddles with the sleeve of her flannel nervously while she thinks of the right thing to say to you.
apparently you’ve already thought of what you wanted to say, though, as the words come tumbling out of your mouth without a warning.
“i wasn’t kissing kyra” you say half breathlessly “she- we- it’s not like that”
jessie’s face burns bright red because of your words, clearly not expecting you to know about what she thinks she saw.
“oh” the canadian replies dumbly
you shoot her an endearing smile and tilt your head ever so slightly “what you saw was kyra making fun of me” you explain timidly “she was just taking the piss, trying to get a laugh out of me”
“she was making fun of you by pretending to kiss you?” jess questions with her head cocked “why-”
“because i haven’t kissed you”
jessie sucks in a sharp breath after you cut her off because never in a million years did she think that the two of you would be in this situation right now. she’d talked to niamh about it, even sam when she felt like she could, but she didn’t think that it would actually happen.
she steps aside and lets you into her flat, holding her arm out wide in an inviting manner. you smile at her and step into her place, the smell of warm lavender instantly hitting you upon entrance.
“can i ask why sam was so upset?”
“can i ask why you thought it was a good idea to avoid me for almost a month?” you deflect, wanting an answer and to keep your cards close to your chest for now.
a blush creeps up jessie’s neck and she looks down “i didn’t plan to but i thought that maybe it would be better if we didn’t spend as much time together for a little while” she confesses quietly before looking back to you “why was sam so upset with you?”
you freeze and scratch the back of your neck awkwardly, having a debate with yourself about wether or not this was the right time to say it. you had known about how strong your feelings are for jess for a while now, but telling her was a completely different ball game. there was every chance that her feelings aren’t as strong or that you scare her off because you’re being too forward.
“we, uhm, sam and i just had a conversation before all this happened and i guess she got upset because she thought i was being an ass”
jessie leads you to her kitchen with a wave of her hand, urging you to sit down whilst she grabbed out two mugs and two tea bags “can i know what the conversation was about?” she questions again.
you toss your options up in your head as she turns the kettle on and grabs the sugar. the sight of her just making tea for the two of you paired with the soft warm lighting of her place makes you feel at home and safe, leaving your heart swelling in your chest at the possibility of this being your future.
“i told sam that i’m in love with you, so when she heard that kyra and i were ‘together’ she was understandably upset” you mumble, casting your eyes down the the bench your hands rest on “she was just being a good friend”
jessie leans her lower back against the counter as she turns to face you, a small, shy smile playing on her lips. she frowns when she realises that you won’t look her in the eye and quickly leans into your personal space, hooking a finger under your chin
“i’m sorry i avoided you” she murmurs “and i’m sorry that we didn’t get the chance to have this conversation sooner”
you give her a half smile and nod “it’s okay”
“no it’s not” jessie says, shaking her head “i’m in love with you and i would really like it if you gave me a chance to be honest with you about it”
your face heats up just as the kettle whistles, leaving jessie to tend to it with a sigh. she pours the boiling water into the mugs, followed by milk, before handing you the steaming beverage with a smile. she places her forearms on top of the counter and leans over again “you know when you drunk called me after you knocked us out of the world cup?”
you grimace “…yes”
“do you remember what you said to me?”
your finger traces the rim of your mug as you think back to that blurry night. knocking the olympic gold medalists out of a world cup on home soil meant that you and the girls went a bit hard that night and you can only recall calling jessie’s contact after kyra had handed you your forth shot of vodka and told you that it was a good idea to get on the phone to your club teammate.
you shake your head in response, and jessie smiles “you said that you were just calling to say goodnight” she laughs lightly to herself “you were absolutely plastered out celebrating with your team and you called me to say goodnight”
you furrow your brows, not really recognising the significance. you said it to her almost every night, no matter what time zone you were in, it had just become a habit.
jessie sees your confusion and hooks a finger under your chin once again “it meant everything to me that you remembered to say goodnight”
suddenly everything clicked for you. your eyes go slightly wide before looking down at jessie’s lips and then back up to her honey brown eyes, wanting nothing more than to kiss her. one hand finds her wrist whilst the other gently grips her cheek, pulling her further into your space.
your lips fit together like puzzle pieces, the kiss becoming as easy as breathing. her hand moves from under your chin to your face, leaving her fingers and palm spread out along your jaw. your right hand curls around the back of her neck and lightly tugs at the baby hairs at the base of her skull, making jessie pull away breathless
“stay” she whispers against your lips “just so you’ll remember to say goodnight”
you smile against her “i’ll always remember to say goodnight”.

YEAHH LETS GO !!
Jealous? — Chad Meeks ★
Tumblr media
PAIRING: Chad Meeks x fem!reader
SUMMARY: reader has been talking and hanging out with a boy recently and chad gets jealous but it ends in a cute little confession ofc :)
WARNINGS: none !!
Tumblr media
He watched with squinted eyes as he stared at you down the hall. You were against a locker laughing with some guy you had met in the Library recently, Isaac. You were supposed to be Chad’s best friend but it feels like he’s being replaced. What he doesn’t want to admit is it’s because he’s had a huge crush on you since high school, and you guys had gotten extremely close since the incident in Woodsboro.
“Dude, if you keep staring you’re gonna burn a hole in their heads.”, Anika joked while Mindy wrapped her arm around her and joined in. “Yeah, I don’t understand why you won’t just tell her you’re in love with her.”
Chad quickly turned to look at Mindy with a puzzled look, “What? I’m not in love with her- were just friends.“
“Sureee ‘friends’ ”, Anika said in air quotes, “I guess you aren’t jealous of her little friend either, right?” She smirked while Chad scoffed. “I am not jealous.” He said matter of factly and looked back at you and Isaac again.
Mindy rolled her eyes muttering a ‘Whatever’ and walked off with Anika while Anika laughed.
He stood there thinking about it for a minute. He wasn’t jealous. All he’s ever wanted is for you is to be happy and safe and protected. Just because he wants to make you feel that way and doesn’t want anyone else to, doesn’t mean he’s jealous!! Or maybe he was just in extreme denial. He huffed out a breath and turned to walk away while giving you another glance.
Isaac was really close to you now, a little too close for Chad’s liking. So, he did the only logical thing he could think of, go up to you and show that prick you’re his. Though it isn’t even official but he’d get to that later. He walked up to you and you noticed him immediately with a bright smile and greeted him, “Chad! Where have you been? I didn’t see you this morning.”
“Sorry I had to help Ethan with some project he’s been working on. We still on for the movie tonight?”
You grimaced remembering you had made plans with Isaac. Chad looked confused then looked at the smirk on the guy’s face. Fucking asshole. “I guess you already have plans?” Chad asked slightly annoyed.
“I’m sorry Chad I completely forgot about the movie. I’ll make it up to you!” You grabbed his hand “You free tomorrow?” Chad slightly frowned but slowly nodded his head. “Yeah, just promise to text me later.” You smiled genuinely, “Of course! See you later.” You let go of his arm and he walked away.
He hated this. He thinks he hates it more than he should, but could you blame him? You guys always hung out, you were always around each other. He could tell that Isaac liked you by the way his eyes darkened when you grabbed Chad’s hand, but Chad couldn’t tell if you liked Isaac. You were always sweet and genuine to everyone and he loved that about you but you were friendly to the point where some might mistake it as flirting.
time skip to the next day
It was all of you hanging out at Sam’s apartment preparing to watch a scary movie. Chad would have preferred it to be just the two of you but he’s just glad he gets to spend time with you, since everything’s felt distant lately. Mindy got the popcorn ready and sat on the couch with Anika and Tara, Ethan sat on a chair by the door, and Quinn and Sam were in the kitchen talking, not really interested in the movie. So that left you and Chad alone on the second couch together. He silently thanked whatever higher being let this happen because it allowed him to put his arm around you when the movie started.
He thought he was being casual about it and glared daggers at Mindy and Tara for giggling at him. What he didn’t see was the grin on your face when he did so. Everyone could tell he liked you, and you liked him too but were a little more subtle about it. The only person you told was Mindy but assumed other people could probably tell with how you acted around him.
All you wanted was him and nobody else, you can’t count the amount of times you’ve ranted to Mindy about him. She always fake gags and rolls her eyes but she can tell you really care for him. If anyone was good enough for her twin, it was you.
Your phone buzzed in your lap and you checked it, it was a message from Isaac. Chad didn’t mean to look at it but he did. What was he supposed to do? It was right there.
Isaac
hey you almost done? I want to see you
Chad was visibly annoyed and you felt his arm tense around you. You looked up at him and gently asked, “Chad? Are you okay?”
“Hm? No, yeah, I’m good. Why?”
You shook your head, unconvinced at his response. “Cmon I want to talk to you about something.” You stood up and signaled for him to take your hand. He gave you a questioning look but took your hand and followed you anyway. You went into your room and heard Mindy whistle at you guys before you shut the door.
He wasn’t sure why but he was nervous. Not wanting to make anything more awkward than it already was, he spoke first, “Is everything alright?”
“I should be asking you that.”
“What do you mean?”
You sighed at his stubbornness and took a step closer to him. You looked at him and he looked everywhere but you. “Why wont you tell me what’s bothering you, Chad? Is this about Isaac?” You grabbed his hand and that plus the name Isaac got his attention. He looked at you with his eyes slightly wide and shook his head. “Isaac? No, of course not, why would you even think that?”
You rolled your eyes, “Chad every-time you hear his name you practically wince. Do you not like him?” He looked away again, “Chad, We’ve been best friends for years now, you know you can tell me, right? I wont take offense to it.”
Friends. He hated that word. He hated when you said it to describe your relationship. He knew you were of course, but he wants more than that. Maybe it was time to finally tell you. He began to speak before being interrupted by your phone’s notifications.
Your phone buzzed again. You tried to ignore it but it happened again and again. You rolled your eyes and took it out of your jean pocket.
“Isaac?” Chad asked you and you nodded before putting your phone on silent and sitting it on your desk. “I’ll deal with him later. Right now I’m focused on you.”
He scoffed at your words and that left you confused.
“You haven’t been focused on me for weeks, Y/N.” his voice was stern, “It’s been Isaac this Isaac that. I need to help Isaac. Oh sorry I’m hanging out with Isaac. You don’t have time for me anymore!” He didn’t mean to raise his voice at you and felt his heart sink at the look on your face.
“I’m sorry-“
“No, you’re right. I’ve been a bad friend to you, Chad and I’m really sorry. I don’t care about Isaac like I care about you. What can I do to make it up to you?”
He smiled and decided the time to ask you out would be now. What could go wrong?
“You could go on a date with me.” His voice was soft and quiet. You perked up and at first he thought your shocked expression was a disgusted one and was going to apologize before he saw the bright smile that appeared on your face. “I’d love to.”
“What? Really?!”
“Yeah, really.” You chuckled at his face. He was really cute when he was clueless. “Did you think I would say no?” Now it was his turn to laugh, “A little bit, yeah.”
You shook your head and kissed his cheek. “Of course not. I’ve liked you for years, dumbass.”
He was even more confused now. There was no way. You liked him? You were an angel, he didn’t think he could attract someone like you, you were perfect.
He looked at you and kissed you softly, you happily returned it and put your arms around his neck. When you both pulled away he kissed your forehead, “I’ve liked you too.”
“You’re hot when you’re jealous by the way, you know that?” you smirked while he scoffed and playfully rolled his eyes. “I was not jealous-“
“Yeah, Yeah, save it” You giggled and it was your turn to kiss him this time. He held your waist and pulled you closer to him. Now, you really were his.

Seriously?
Pairing: Steve Harrington x reader
Summary: When your coworker ditches work early Steve is there to lend a helping hand.
Contains: just fluff here
Word Count: 1.7k
Tumblr media
Steve’s taste in music had always been something his classmates raved about, even after he stopped hosting those huge parties. They always talked about how every time he’d host a party or let people hang out at his house he’d have the best, most popular, music on standby.
Although most of his favorite songs were fun, rock songs he could sing along to—and the occasional pop song—Steve also had a soft spot for some songs from the 60s and 70s. They brought him back to the simpler times of his childhood, back to before he had seen how complicated the world really was.
However, he usually liked to keep that information to himself because it was special to him. And since he kept that to himself and a few of his close friends, even if they liked poking fun at him for it—it was no surprise that two weeks after his graduation Tina had asked Steve if she could borrow his best summer-music tape for a party she was hosting while her parents were gone over the weekend.
Tina said she’d stop by Scoops after she was done with it, but her party was two weeks ago. So, that’s how Steve ended up walking across the mall towards Sam Goody’s after his shift, hoping that Tina would be on the closing shift.
That’s when Steve first saw you. You were wiping down the counters, humming along to a Supremes song that played over the store speakers, when he walked in.
Steve’s first thought was that music stores don’t usually play this type of music. Usually, it’s something fun and upbeat because that’s what they’re trying to sell.
Then Steve remembered that he’d seen you once before. A couple weeks ago, after his closing shift, he saw you in the mall parking lot. Well, truthfully, he’d heard you first. You were in your car singing along to an old Supremes song blasting from your car speakers with your windows down.
When he’d gotten to his Beemer, Steve watched as you drove past him in the lot, singing to your heart’s content. He remembered thinking how carefree you looked that night and how pretty he thought you were.
Steve had kept an eye out for you after that night but never had any luck finding you as his eyes searched the crowds of the mall each day during his break. Suddenly, he was pulled out of his thoughts when he heard that voice again—“Seriously?” He heard her say under her breath.
“Hey, sorry, but I already closed the register. We’re closed for today.” you said, “You’ll have to come back tomorrow.”
“Oh, no. I’m not here to buy anything.” Steve said looking around, “Do you know if Tina’s here tonight? She borrowed one of my tapes for a party and I just wanted to get it back.”
You laughed, Tina had left her shift early with her boyfriend after promising you an IOU for the next time you wanted to leave early.
“No, she’s not here. Left early with her boyfriend.”
“Seriously?” Steve asked.
You weren’t sure if it was his straightforwardness or if it was the way he kind of looked like he needed a friend in that silly-looking sailor hat, but you decided to continue the conversation instead of shooing him out of the store.
“Seriously,”  You sighed, holding up the silly IOU cards Tina made for you, “Now I have two of these.”
Steve walked closer to the counter to read them as you placed them on the counter and moved to grab the window cleaning supplies.
“An IOU? She really gave you one of those?” he asked.
“Yeah, I’m pretty sure she doesn’t expect me to ever use them, but I kind of want to just so that she knows she can’t always dump this crap on me and ‘promise’,” you say making air quotes with your fingers, “ that she’ll cover for me.”
You began spraying the front window and continued your rant, “I mean, she barely helps when she is here.”
“I could help you close up the shop if you want?” Steve broached as you wiped the glass.
You stopped, turning around to face the guy you had allowed to stay in the store for maybe a bit too long.
“You would help me?” You asked skeptically.
“Yeah, sure. I mean, I just closed up Scoops Ahoy—which is why I’m still wearing this stupid uniform. But I did it all by myself since Robin had to leave early for some stupid family dinner. Anyway, I just—I know what it’s like and if you want some help just give me the order.”
Steve finished his rambling offer to help with a smile, hoping you’d take him up on his offer.
You stayed silent for a few seconds and narrowed your eyes at him, thinking. But, just when Steve started thinking you were about to kick him out, you smiled.
“You know, I was starting to wonder why you walked in here looking like some discount store sailor. No offense.” You said.
“None taken,” he smiled back and took off his sailor hat, “This wasn’t really my first choice, but I had to get a job somewhere-you know?”
“Yeah, I get that—“ you paused, realizing you didn’t know this guy's name yet and he didn’t know yours, “What’s your name?”
“Steve Harrington,” he said.
“Well it’s nice to meet you, Steve Harrington,” you smiled cheekily and then gave him your name.
Steve smiled too, “It’s nice to meet you too.”
“Well, Steve, if you really want to help, I haven’t swept the floor yet and  there’s a broom in the back.”
You went back to wiping the front window and looked back at him after a few seconds. Steve had stopped moving. He had a blank look on his face like he was surprised you accepted his help. Most people just brushed off his offers for help.
“The back room is over there,” you said pointing, “Don’t think that I’ll let you just loiter around in here 'cause you’re nice.”
“Oh, okay,” Steve said, still in a daze.
As Steve walked over to the back room, the song over the stereo changed and you started humming along as you returned to your work.
You could hear him moving around when you suddenly heard another voice quietly humming with you.
You stopped and looked at Steve. He was quietly humming to the song and moving around the store as he swept.
In that moment, you could feel your heart squeeze at the sight. You barely knew anything about him, but there was something so endearing about Steve and the way he wanted to help you for nothing in return.
He had surprised you. You didn’t think you were ready to like someone new, but there Steve was. Helping you out, on a Friday night nonetheless, in all his kindness.
Steve looked up at you when he realized you’d stopped humming. And just when you thought he couldn’t have shocked you more, he stopped humming and began to sing along-trying to coax you into joining him.
It took you a minute to let the moment sink in. With anyone else you would have passed it off as a joke, but Steve had disarmed you. So you joined him, singing along to your heart's content in an odd duet sort of way.
Soon enough, the two of you had cleaned the store and finished the rest of the closing duties, singing the whole time.
“That was fun,” you said, turning off the music and grabbing your bag from the counter, heading towards the doors.
“Yeah,” he said as he watched you lock the door for the night.
“Thanks—for the help I mean.” You said looking towards Steve.
“It’s no problem, I’m glad to help.” Steve said, “Can I walk you to your car?”
He looked a little nervous when he asked. It was almost like he was scared you’d say no, but instead, you smiled at him.
“Sure,” you said.
So you started walking out of the mall, in step with Steve.
The walk to your car was surprisingly quiet. You couldn’t figure out what you should be talking about and Steve didn’t say anything either. He seemed to be lost in thought whenever you glanced over at him.
You thought the two of you had a lot of fun tonight. A small part of you thought that you could become friends with Steve, and an even smaller part thought about liking him as more than a friend if you got to know him better.
It felt a little silly thinking about it, but he helped you and made you feel better.
But by the time you’d gotten to your car, neither of you had said a word.
“Well, thanks for walking with me. I guess I’ll see you around,” you said unlocking your car.
“Wait, umm…” Steve said before trailing off.
“Yeah?” You looked at him, waiting.
He took a small breath and continued, “You remember how you said you wanted to use those IOU cards Tina made you?”
You nodded, wondering what exactly he was going to say.
“Well, I was wondering if you’d like to go to the Fourth of July fair with me—maybe use one of those IOUs to get off work early?” Steve asks.
“We could play the games and go on some rides,” he continued, “The food’s not too bad as long as you don’t think about how greasy it actually is. I was thinking we could get to know each other better…”
“Are you asking me, as a date? Serious?” You asked, almost not believing your ears.
“Yeah, I thought it could be fun,” Steve said as he rubbed the back of his neck, “So, what do you think?”
You broke into a smile, “I think I would like that a lot.”
Steve looked so relieved when you accepted. He had smiled a few times already, but this smile was brighter than all the rest and it made you glad.
That must have been what he was thinking about on the walk to your car.
“Cool. Awesome. I can write out the details and bring them to you on my lunch break tomorrow if that's okay?” Steve offers.
“That’d be great Steve,” you said, “And maybe I could stop by Scoops on my break. I’ve been meaning to stop in too—see what flavors you guys have.”
“Great, I’ll see you tomorrow then,” Steve said, “Drive safe.”
“You too,” you said before getting into your car to leave.
You weren’t quite sure what going on a date with Steve Harrington would bring. But, you did know that you were excited for something and it felt good to look forward to something again.

LOTR in a modern world headcanons? I think yes.
I did this on one of my old accounts that i ended up deleting for some reason, i don’t remember, but here. Back on my Lord Of The Rings BS, let’s gooooo. This’ll be the fellowship with everyone intact, no one is dead.
As always requests are open and let me know if you want more!
LOTR x GN! Reader, general headcanons for if you had to take care of them today, in 2023. Enjoy!
The ring most likely has no power in this dimension, so yay Frodo is free from torment!
Sam loves watching cooking, gardening and home renovation shows, and he gets very invested in the former two. You learn a lot you didn’t really need to know from his commentary
Once Pippin learns about pyjamas and fuzzy slippers he never goes back, you literally cannot get him out of them
Boromir and Aragorn, being human and coincidentally two of the most responsible members of the fellowship, are the easiest to take in public to the grocery store and such.
You can pass off the hobbits (if they cover their ears with their hair) as children, and Gimli is your friend with dwarfism.
Gandalf you can pass off as your grandfather, and Legolas looks pretty normal if you cover his ears.
Pippin is the type to bounce in his seat in the car and ask “Are we there yet?!” every 5 minutes
Frodo really likes to draw, especially when there’s so many cool places and movies to draw inspiration from.
Movie nights? No horrors. The hobbits are terrified by ‘em.
Movie nights are literally so difficult because they all have such different tastes
Merry really likes James Bond movies.
Pippin is obsessed with nail polish when you introduce him to it. Boromir gets his repainted every time the polish come off. His nails need serious help after a while
Pippin and Merry often start pillow fights, and drag everyone else into it
If you have space for a garden or plants in your home, Sam is on it. He finds it calming, so now you have some home grown plants :)
Taking the hobbits in public? Bad idea. You can trust Frodo and Sam, but Merry inevitably drags Pippin off to do something dumb and possibly dangerous.
Gandalf has an old man rocker. There is no discussion.
The hobbits do the classic “getting one sibling to ask for fast food because whoever’s in charge will say yes”, they get Frodo to do this because he has the best puppy dog face and he’s unsure about asking for things normally.
Pippin and Merry cannot handle too much caffeine or sugar or they go crazy
You thought Legolas’ hair was good before? He steals your hair care products and his hair is literally perfect.
(He’s also willing to do skincare with you, not that his face needs it. Again, flawless)
Game nights are so chaotic. You can’t play a lot of games since they don’t know what many things from this world are, so games like Trivia and Charades are off the table
Gimli and Legolas verse each other in video games, often enough it ends with Legolas winning and Gimli rage quitting
Aragorn is so responsible he’s literally the perfect man to do anything with, and he can hold the fort down if you need to leave
Pippin is so clingy, he trails you wherever you go and asks you random questions but it’s adorable
Boromir insists on carrying your stuff, bags of groceries, all that
Frodo often goes to the library to find new books to read, with you of course
There’s a whole debate on whether 3D or 2D animation is better, i would not get involved if i were you.
Pippin and Merry are also avid fans of quoting their favourite movies, once they see them
Legolas and Frodo are the best listeners, they will just sit there and not judge or try to give you advice they just. sit there. like the perfect men they are.
Legolas would have a meme for everything. Like any situation. You text him like “PIPPIN FELL DOWN SOME WELL WE DON’T EVEN HAVE A WELL HELP” and he just has a meme that fits the situation perfectly.
Frodo and Legolas would watch Avatar: The Last Airbender together because it’s their favourite show. Aragorn jumps in also.
Those three are also avid tea drinkers.
Boromir likes Game Of Thrones. I don’t know anything about it, he just does. Please confiscate Pippin while he does.
Pippin gasps dramatically whenever a plot twist surprises him.
Sam loves to cook, and he does a lot of cooking in the house once he arrives. You two just work together in the kitchen (if you can’t cook, he’ll teach you) and have nice sweet conversations
Legolas is great at doing people’s hair. If you ask him to, he’d probably agree, though he’d probably be a bit flustered as that is a courting ritual in his culture.
Ask Legolas to talk to you until you fall asleep. His voice is so heavenly istg-
The hobbits get sleepy when their hair is played with and it’s adorable
Won’t lie this hyperfixation came back then it circled back to TMNT and today i watched these films with my friend and now i’m back to LotR love. Most of this has been sitting in my drafts for a couple weeks.
Anyway, I think that’s about it from me, I hope you guys enjoy! :)
If you want to request, rules are pinned on my page! Let me know if you want a general part two or a set of modern headcanons for a specific character. I love LOTR in the modern world content so much.
Have a good day, and remember that you are loved!

Sai and Sebastian’s Past Relationships Part 1
Hi all! I just wanted to Give Sebastian and Sai more flavor and take you into their past relationships. Here’s Seb’s.
TW: Abusive relationships, bullying, censored slurs, sex, drugs and alcohol, family tension.
Sebastian:
Age 15.
Tumblr media
It’s hard being a queer kid already, but being a queer kid in the boonies feels like living ten years in the past. Seb and the Pelican town kids didn’t have a highschool in their town, so they commuted via bus pretty far out. By this time, Seb was sure he was bisexual but didn’t dare explore that. He was already bullied: Skinny, vaguely non-white, Antisocial, mixed family and had his hair long, leaving room for all kinds of “you look like a girl” and f slurs. So, he was often found hiding out under the bleachers, where he met his first “boyfriend”. In quotes because this boyfriend was very much not out and would often throw out “I’m not into guys, I’m just into you”. The rising Gridball varsity player (not Alex He’s a couple years younger than Seb in my HC) and the pariah. A cute pair, set up to fail.
This “boyfriend” also would often stroke Sebastian’s hair and comment that he’d ‘make a very pretty girl’ or ‘I wish you were a girl so we could be open’. Sebastian never cared that he was called feminine, but he hated hearing that from his boyfriend. He hated feeling “wrong” to someone he cared about, but at least it was something, he often reasoned.
They had… a pretty traumatic break up. Rumors went around that the two hung out (they did much more than that, including being each other’s first in a lot of ways). And the grid ball team confronted Sebastian accusing him of trying to corrupt their grid ball star with his “f***** germs”. And who was there to back the bullies up and keep silent but Seb’s boyfriend. Pushed down, roughed up verbally and physically, Seb confronted his boyfriend privately: “why didn’t you stick up for me, why would you let them do that, don’t you know you’re bi too?! I thought you loved me”… Seb wanted to say all this. But instead went “If you ever try to talk to me, call me or even look at me ever again, I’ll let everyone who the real fucking f***** is…”
One of Seb’s lowest points. One day while crying he felt his hair in his hand and remembered how his boyfriend stroked the left side of his head. Disgusted, he promptly gave himself an asymmetrical haircut. Luckily he had Sam around to cheer him up with some goofs and Abby around to clown him, but trim/clean up his new haircut. A rough first love, but a first love all the same.
Age 18
Tumblr media
Sebastian was tired of the “what will you do now?” “Don’t you know you’re wasting your potential?” questions he was getting from his Mom and stepdad. In a fit of emotions, he packed a bag and rode to the edges of ZuZu city. The night he arrived, he was so full of feelings and just wanted to be numb. Drinking, clubs, drugs, parties, sex with strangers, all things he wasn’t ready for. He couldn’t be the good kid his parents wanted and he couldn’t be a “delinquent” either. So who was he? It all came down as he crumpled into a ball on some random stoop. The stoop happened to be that of his next partner, Grad student, Hae-Jin.
Hae-Jin invited Seb in, and let him stay to figure himself out. And with Seb at his most vulnerable, it was a quick and passionate week long courtship. Hae-Jin was good to him. They even convinced him to go back home and try and reconcile with his family (that’s a story for another time). They then were long distance for a year and he’d go and visit them as much as he could afford the gas to. But as time went on, the relationship soured. Seb began to feel like a secret again. And he kinda was. Hae-Jin was 24 and offhandedly would mention “My friends’ll call me a cradle robber.” Seb began to resent that. “They had a problem with my age but not with sleeping with me?”
At the same time, Hae-Jin would often pressure Seb to move in. It got worse when Har-Jin would accuse Seb of being “immature” and “indecisive” about them moving in together. Sebastian began to feel like he had less and less agency in this relationship. How was that any different than what was going on at home? He thought Hae-Jin cared for him, that they belonged with each other. But he felt more and more that Hae-Jin just wanted to “have him.” No better than a pet.
Hae-Jin gave him an ultimatum “Stay with me or go back to the middle of nowhere”. He chose to go back, in his mind, better the devil you know.
Age 23 and Up
Tumblr media
Seb wasn’t really interested in dating after Hae-Jin. He focused on programming, his bike, and trying to stay sane as he rots away in his basement. Maybe every blue moon on one of his long bike rides, he’d make out with some stranger outside a gas station, bike shop just to… I don’t know, feel something. But that got tiring. He was tired. Tired of feeling like he had no say in anything he wanted. He had none at home, in past romances. At that point, he didn’t even know if he wanted anything.

Have A Little Faith - Dean Winchester P11
Title: Have A Little Faith - Dean Winchester Part 11
Words: 924
Relations: Dean Winchester X Reader
TW: SPOILERS S1E12
Part 10
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We drove into town and found a motel. When Sam turned the car off I sat forward. "I'll get us a room if you get him to a doctor?" I asked and Sam nodded starting the engine again.
"What, I don't get a say in this?" Dean asked pretending to be offended. I laughed.
"No," I replied before leaning forward and kissing his cheek. I grabbed my bag from the boot before heading to the reception area. I thought as I walked. My brain started ticking away and something didn't seem right. If this guy is the real deal why isn't every hunter using him as their nurse? I couldn't stop thinking. I was so deep in thought that I got a fright when I almost walked into a wall not watching where I was going. I shook it away.
I walked into the reception area and asked for two double bedrooms, the woman at the desk accepted my payment and handed me the keys. I carried my bag to one of the rooms and let myself in. I instantly put my bag down and got my laptop out. I just couldn't shake the feeling that something shady was going on. I started doing as much research as I could, anything I could find. I seemed to be coming up with nothing. I sighed as I rubbed my eyes. Maybe I'm just overthinking it. My phone ringing beside me caught my attention I answered with a smile.
"Hey, baby. We're heading back to the motel now, what room are you in?" Dean asked through the phone instantly making me smile.
"I'm in room 18, what did the doctor say?" I asked getting up from the bed and walking away from the laptop sick of seeing the words taunting me on the screen.
"She said that my heart was perfectly healthy. It's a miracle," He performed making me laugh.
"Well, I'm really glad, I can't wait to see you," I smiled.
"I can't wait for that thing you promised, I might believe in the Lord," Dean joked in a seductive tone and my brain finally clicked.
"Wait, what did you say? Say it again," I quickly instructed as I rushed back to my laptop.
"I can't wait for that thing you promised," Dean answered slightly confused.
"No after that," I explained as I tapped away on my laptop.
"I might believe in the lord," Dean answered very confusedly.
"I have to go see you soon, kiss kiss," I said quickly before hanging up and dropping the phone on the bed before typing as quick as I could.
When sudden footsteps approached the motel door I rolled into action literally. I rolled off the bed and instantly grabbed my gun from my bag. I cocked it and aimed it at the door. The door swung open with force, I stiffened my trigger finger ready to shoot when I noticed it was Dean. I sighed with relief and stood up, Dean only just noticed me as I was peeking from the bottom of the bed. He looked worried, I was confused as he stormed over to me.
"Are you okay? What happened?" He asked quickly grabbing me and looking me over. I looked at him confused.
"What are you talking about?" I asked as Sam closed the motel door and started searching the room. "What is going on?" I asked grabbing their attention.
"You hung up, you sounded off," Dean explained but I laughed. He looked at me confused.
"I had an idea, I think something going on with the preacher," I explained going to my laptop to show the boys my research.
"See, I told you something is going on," Dean bragged to Sam as Dean approached me sitting behind me to look at the screen over my shoulder. He hugged me from behind slightly making me smile.
"Well, I thought the whole thing was odd, you know. If this guy is the real deal why wouldn't the evil in the world try and kill him or why haven't hunters claimed him as their nurse, that's when I remembered something weird he said," I explained looking between Sam and Dean to make sure they were listening. Sam took a seat on the back of the couch to face us. "The preacher said and I quote." "It is a lord who does the healing," I quoted and looked at the guys to see if they pieced it together as well but they were just looking at me confused. "Dean on the phone you said that you believed in 'THE' Lord, the bible referring only to one God. So, why did the preacher say 'A' Lord like it wasn't God? I did some research and found a Lord of healing, Jehovah Rapha," I explained turning the laptop to show them the search results I got. "God referred to himself as Jehovah Rapha multiple times in the bible, I was thinking that if a demon were posing as God they wouldn't be able to say or hear God's name. They might call themselves Jehovah Rapha," I explained and Sam looked confused.
"But why would a Demon be healing people?" Sam asked so I sighed.
"That's the part I get stuck on," I sighed looking at Dean for answers.
"Can I see the laptop?" Sam asked so I nodded and smiled. Sam started tapping away on the computer seeming to instantly zone out, I leant back into Dean so he wrapped his arms around me fully and kissed my head.

Supernatural: Witch‘s Canyon
Posting everything in this book that i think you need to know, lets go!
Tumblr media
Summary:
Okay, so, the boys head to the Grand Canyon to solve a case of a fourty-year murder cycle. The spirits of variouse humans and animals alike attack the locals and they need to find out why and how to stop it.
It is set somewhere in Season two.
My opinion:
This was so much fun. Like, it was really like watching an episode, just a lot longer and with the magic ability to see into Sam and Deans (and a bunch of other characters) heads.
It also gave a little bit of a fanfiction vibe, just with the addidtion that everything is cannon and that all the random little facts and quotes are a real thing (i‘ll list those in a second)
And also there were flashbacks of their childhood??? That made me cry??? I hated john winchester before, but now even more so. (More about the flashbacks below too)
So yea, it was definetly worth it and i cant wait to read the others!!
Songs:
This is the music Sam and Dean listened to during the course of the book (some locals listened to music too, but i did not list those)
- „paranoid“ by Black Sabbath
- „turn the page“ by Bob Seger
- unspecified tape by Bad Company
Flashbacks:
There are two flashbacks to Sam and Dean‘s Childhood:
- the first one is Dean Remembering a time when John made him and Sam run through an obstacle course at age twelve and eight. Dean had to shoot a gun during it, Sam just had to point and yell „Bang!“.
In the process of that Sam got injured and cried and John yelled at him to keep going and that he was doing poorly. Dean comforted his brother and encouraged him, leading to sam actually making it. Sam did it and Dean cheered, but john kept yelling at them to keep going to the next obstacle.
- the second one was from when Dean was fourteen and Sam was ten. Their Dad gave them backbags and said what was in them could last them fir four days and they all went on a hike together.
In the middle of nowhere john then saud that they should not trust anyone on what they are told and left them alone, telling them that they should find their way (at very least two days of walk) back themsleves and they shouldnt have relied on him so much and he just… left.
When they checked their backbags they found that most in it was useless and they were also filled with rocks to make it seem like it was more than it was.
Thats so fucked up, like
Those are children. And the worst part, when Dean rememvers this he thinks of it almost positively because it taught him a valuable lesson. I cant even begin to describe how my heart hurt for them.
Random facts:
Here are some facts from the book, i do t know anymor if those are mentioned in the show too, but it hardly matters, i think:
- Sam outgrew Dean at the age of 16
- Dean felt gutity over Jessicas death and thought that it was a „more solid basis“ of guilt than Sam had on the matter
- Sam can differentiate between uniforms of different wars in history just by a look
- Dean hates Rats. A lot.
Quotes:
Some quotes from the book:
John Winchester hunted monsters, ghosts, demons — the creatures most people only believed in deep down in their 3:00 am hearts, abd that they laughted off when the sun was bright and their spirits high.
It was a habit Dean had picked up from Dad — reffering to what they did as a „job“. To Sam it was nore of a Mission, even a calling.
„Sammy really likes cops,“ Dean said. „If he didnt have any talents he might have become one“
Sometimes he thought Dean wouldnt mind dying if he could go out in a blaze of glory, as the saying went. In moments of fairness, Sam knew that wasnt true. Dean didnt care about the glory; he cared about making a difference.
„I‘m coming around to the point, Sam.“ „He‘s Dean,“ Sam corrected. „I‘m Sam“. „Sorry, For some reason, you just look more like a Dean to me“
Gilmore Girls reference?
„You tried to shoot my brother“ Dean said.
Sam belived in a highter power, Dean didnt. Sam didnt have any special knowledge that Dean lacked, handt seen or heard or met God.
Lol, not yet.
Dean had been a kid, hadnt ever had a chance to become anything other than what Dad had made of him. That, finally, was the gulf between them — the canyon that could never be bridged.
Dean was an amazing guy, Sam knew, with skills and abilities most people would never imagine, and smarts Dean himself wouldnt credit, even though he relied on them all the time. And yet, at times like this, he was so humble, so unassuming, that he seemed almost unaware of the importance if his iwn contributions. At other times, of course, that humility vanished. Knowing and accepting both Deans, he guessed, was what being brothers was all about. Maybe I wouldnt want to be Dean, he thought, but i‘m sure glad I have him araound.
STOP MAKING MY CRY WTH
So anyways, that book srue was an experiance and i cant wait for the next one! I‘ll post a review of that as well and will update that post with a link to it one i‘m done!
Xoxo! <3

I would love to hear your thoughts on kirk's backstory and what happened on tarsus iv, I feel like I've read so many conflicting takes on here and none of them actually match up with the episode (conscience of the king)
Hi anon! The way you worded this makes me think you were just looking for information and not a fic request. Forgive me if I was wrong!! 😅
I think the reason there are so many conflicting ideas is because of how vague it is in canon itself (which is cool, leaves a lot of room for interpretation). Because of this, when I recently wrote a thing about Tarsus IV I also struggled with "research" for it. Here's what I came up with:
!!! Disclaimer! I am not declaring any of this the One True Canon™! This is just my interpretation/speculation based on existing lore !!!
To me, it makes most sense for Jim to be sent to Tarsus IV with his mother, and for her to be a civilian scientist/researcher of some kind. I find it very hard to believe the massacre could have taken place if Starfleet were present, which would include George Kirk, Jim's father. George is said to have been absent often due to his work (SNW), so it wouldn’t be strange for him to be separated from his family (this is also just normal in Star Trek in general, i.e. Sulu [AOS] and like… everyone with children in TNG).
A more recent Trek book called Drastic Measures seems to back this exact idea up (depends who you ask which novels are canon, and this book was written for Discovery so take it with a grain of salt).
Sam would, in the TOS timeline, be 10 years older than Jim (~23). That would make it unlikely he'd be tailing after his mother to remote colonies. It's much more likely he was concerned with his own career/family/life.
So, in summary of those points, I think it was just Jim and Winona. Jim is between 12 and 14 years old, and his mother was a civilian researcher (the novel I mentioned earlier made her a xenobiologist, probably for plot reasons).
Something I do see exaggerated sometimes is the method of killing in the massacre. An antimatter chamber appears to be what was used, similar to A Taste of Armageddon, so it would not have been mass carnage or a big dramatic fight in the end. Just... zap.
SPOCK: "He was certainly among the most ruthless, to decide arbitrarily who would survive and who would not [...] and then to implement his decision without mercy. Children watching their parents die. Whole families, destroyed. Over four thousand people. They died quickly, without pain, but they died.”
However, these are also quotes from the episode, so I can see why people might think the massacre itself was more violent:
- JIM: “Four thousand people were needlessly butchered.” - LEIGHTON: “I remember him. That voice. The bloody thing he did.”  - JIM: “Are you sure you didn't act this role out in front of a captive audience whom you blasted out of existence without mercy?” - KARIDIAN/KODOS: “Murder, flight, suicide, madness. I never wanted the blood on my hands ever to stain you.”
There was a revolution of some kind, probably brought about by people easily radicalized out of hunger and desperation.
- KARIDIAN/KODOS: [reading] "The revolution is successful…” - SPOCK: “There were over eight thousand colonists and virtually no food. And that was when Governor Kodos seized full power and declared emergency martial law.”
If Kodos already had his ideas about eugenics, which it sounds like he did, he would have seized this as an opportunity. This would make him an even more solid comparison to Hitler, which they were definitely going for to at least some extent (this was written two decades after WWII which many involved in the making of star trek were deeply affected by if not veterans themselves).
Because of the above quotes, I also think there’s merit to the idea of there being multiple formal executions where Kodos gave his infamous “speech” each time rather than just once (this would be another reason Jim would remember it enough to write it down), rather than one massive execution of 4,000 people. However, this quote could be interpreted to mean the opposite:
SPOCK: “Kodos began to separate the colonists. Some would live, be rationed whatever food was left; The remainder would be immediately put to death.”
Arguably, the even more traumatic suffering would be the period of starvation and upheaval leading up to the massacre. To me, a 3-6 month period of slowly worsening starvation as the food supply shrank and shrank to nothing would make the most sense.
One aspect I don't quite get is that Kodos's body was supposed to have been "burned beyond recognition.” Since we know from Conscience of the King his death was staged, then this fake death can’t have been pulled off in the midst of Starfleet intervention upon arrival (they would have taken him into custody to stand trial rather than kill him on sight anyway). Burning yourself to death is a highly unusual form of suicide, so I’m not sure if that’s supposed to allude to him being fake killed in the carnage following the execution when the people didn't react the way he wanted or expected? My only theory is that there was unrest and rioting for the period of time between the massacre and Starfleet arriving with relief, and he used that to fake his death once he knew he would be put on trial.
Anyway, this is super long so I'll cut myself off there. Hope that answered your question, sorry for being crazy! If anyone has anything to add, please do!

Scent and Cigar together
“The scent washed over him. He looked up. Overhead, a lilac tree was in bloom. He stared. Damn! Damn! Damn! Every year he forgot. Well, no. He never forgot. He just put the memories away, like old silverware that you didn’t want to tarnish. And every year they came back, sharp and sparkling, and stabbed him in the heart.”
The smell of lilac is the touchstone of Vimes's memory of the past. Smells are more closely linked to memories than any other senses, so the fact Vimes only remembers what day it is after he smells the lilac makes it the perfect annual reminder. But something I've just realised about the above quote?
He patted his pocket for his silver cigar case, and for a moment felt more anger than despair, and more sorrow than anger. There was a future. There had to be. He remembered it. But it only existed as that memory, and that was fragile as the reflection on a soap bubble and, maybe, just as easily popped.
Vimes's silver cigar case is the emblem of his future life, and it literally becomes the "old" silverware he doesn't want to tarnish. Like the lilac and the song, his case is tied to a specific moment. Vimes loses the cigar case when he travels back in time, and after that happens he almost immediately adapts to the new present. Occasionally he pats his pockets, remembers the cigar case isn't there, and that realisation stabs him in the heart the way seeing the lilac that first time did. When he gets the case back, he gains new clarity about what it is he's supposed to do, what it is he's doing it for, and finally feels physically connected with the future that he's left behind.
“Vimes stared at the thing in his hand. It was a cigar case, slim and slightly curved. He fumbled it open and read:
To Sam with love from your Sybil
The world moved.”
“He took out the cigar case and stared hard at the inscription. Let's see, he thought ... if I never met Sybil, we wouldn't get married and she wouldn't buy me this, and so I couldn't be looking at it... He stared hard at the curly engraving, almost willing it to disappear. It didn't. On the other hand, that old monk had said that whatever happens, stays happened. And now Vimes had a mental picture of Sybil and Carrot and Detritus and all the rest of them, frozen in a moment that'd never have a next moment.”
The way he stares and stares because that's all he has left of them is heartbreaking. And it's interesting to compare these reflections on the case to his thoughts on the lilac, how the flowers bring back memories of dead friends, and how the lilac itself spawned from Dickins's own memory, in this beautiful, tragic, cyclical fashion (the mention of carrots and mud in this section is particularly brilliant):
“I recall a battle once,” said Dickins, looking up at a tree. “In history, it was. And there was this company, see, and they was a ragtag of different squads and all covered in mud in any case, and they found themselves hiding in a field of carrots. So, as a badge, they all pulled up carrots and stuck them on their helmets, so’s they’d know who their friends were and incidentally have a nourishing snack for later, which is never to be sneezed at on a battlefield.”
“Well? So what?” said Dibbler.
“So what’s wrong with a lilac flower?” said Dickins, reaching up and pulling down a laden branch. “Makes a spanking plume, even if you can’t eat it…”
And now, Vimes thought, it ends.
Dickins's rag tag, grubby group with carrot plumes is so reminiscent of the Watch in Guards! Guards!, who were likewise rag tag and grubby and who Carrot helped bring together to fight a historic battle (against a dragon instead of the government, but still). And as with Dickins looking at the lilac, there are the faces Vimes remembers as he looks at his cigar case, frozen in time. Memories, dead in the past, and alive in the future.
The cigar butt still smouldered. But around it the Garden of Inner City Tranquillity was moving, pebble sliding over tiny pebble. A large, water-rounded rock floated gently around, spinning. And then Vimes became aware that the whole garden was spinning, turning on the little wisp of smoke.
When Vimes visits the Garden of Inner Tranquility for the second time, he drops a cigar butt, which becomes the focal point of the garden. This is the moment Lu Tze realises he needs to get the silver cigar case. I think it's partly Vimes resolving to see the job through, but also a sign that he has asserting his presence over the present. Probability has shifted toward preserving that future. As Qu says, "he's part of the pattern".
But then, of course, Vimes has to swim against that tide:
“There was no universe, anywhere, where a Sam Vimes would give in on this, because if he did then he wouldn't be Sam Vimes any more. The writing stayed on the silver but it was blurred now because of the tears welling up. They were tears of anger, mostly at himself. There was not a thing he could do. He hadn’t bought a ticket and he hadn’t wanted to come, but now he was on the ride and couldn’t get off until the end. What else had the old monk said? History finds a way? Well, it was going to have to come up with something good, because it was up against Sam Vimes now.”
The words blurring on the case is one of the moments I almost always tear up at every time I reread the book. It's a literal representation of what he's giving up when he chooses to risk everything by trying to change history. He's resigning his future to the past, a) by accepting that he may never make it back to Sybil; his future becomes his past, and b) in prioritising saving lives in the past over returning to his own future.
“It found its way back, Vimes thought. We're home.”
I like how this echoes that previous quote "and now, thought Vimes, it ends." The cigar case, like the lilac, indicates an inevitable finality.
“The occupants of these graves had died for something. In the sunset glow, in the rising of the moon, in the taste of the cigar, in the warmth that comes from sheer exhaustion, Vimes saw it.
History finds a way.”
His realisation that the watchmen dying is a part of the foundation of the future, and the way he associates the taste of the cigar with that future, is so reminiscent of how the smell of lilac reminds him of the past. Truly, a glorious book.
I love it with my whole heart.

Hi! if jon really falls for sansa, what do you think his course of action is? I’m not a big fan of him trying to suppress those feelings, he may just want to ignore them or feign confusion. In sansa’s case, she probably thinks it’s something cersei did to her but yea idk
(Nah, they won't wallow in endless repression, and Sansa isn't the #1 Aemon and Naerys shipper for nothing. No need to blame Cersei there, she'll just suddenly feel genre-aware.)
Jon Snow dealing with his feelings, according to me, a 7-Step-Guide as illustrated by selected quotes:
Step 1: These hearteyes are Totally Normal!
They look as though they belong together. [...] Her breath was white as well … but her eyes were blue, her long braid the color of dark honey, her cheeks flushed red from the cold. It had been a long while since Jon Snow had seen a sight so lovely. (ADWD, Jon XI)
Sansa looked radiant as she walked beside him, but Jon did not like Joffrey's pouty lips or the bored, disdainful way he looked at Winterfell's Great Hall. (AGOT, Jon I)
Step 2: Oh no.
Jon walked away as confused as he was angry. Sam's heart was as big as the rest of him, but for all his reading he could be as thick as Grenn at times. It was impossible, and dishonorable besides. So why do I feel so ashamed? (ACOK, Jon III)
He sat on the bench and buried his head in his hands. Why am I so angry? he asked himself, but it was a stupid question.  (ASOS, Jon XII)
He wanted it, Jon knew then. He wanted it as much as he had ever wanted anything. I have always wanted it, he thought, guiltily. May the gods forgive me. It was a hunger inside him, sharp as a dragonglass blade.  (ASOS, Jon XII)
Step 3: I am fortune's fool.
A deserter and a wildling could expect no welcome anywhere in the Seven Kingdoms. (ASOS, Jon IV)
Bastard children were born from lust and lies, men said; their nature was wanton and treacherous. Once Jon had meant to prove them wrong, to show his lord father that he could be as good and true a son as Robb. I made a botch of that. (ASOS, Jon X)
Step 4: Aemon and Naerys - Northern Edition
Tyrion Lannister had claimed that most men would rather deny a hard truth than face it, but Jon was done with denials. (AGOT, Jon IX)
If this is so wrong, he wondered, why did the gods make it feel so good? (ASOS, Jon III)
Old Nan used to tell stories about knights and their ladies who would sleep in a single bed with a blade between them for honor's sake, but he thought this must be the first time where a direwolf took the place of the sword. (ASOS, Jon II)
"More than any of the others." When Taena frowned, a tiny crease appeared between her dark eyes. "Every morn and every night he visits, unless duty interferes. Her brother is devoted to her, they share everything with . . . oh . . ." For a moment, the Myrish woman looked almost shocked. Then a smile spread across her face. "I have had a most wicked thought, Your Grace." (AFFC, Cersei VI)
Step 5: A Miracle of Technicalities
Is she still my sister? he wondered. Was she ever? He had never truly been a Stark, only Lord Eddard's motherless bastard, with no more place at Winterfell than Theon Greyjoy. And even that he'd lost.  (ASOS, Jon III)
She punched him. "That's vile. Would you bed your sister?" "Longspear's not your brother." (ASOS, Jon III)
They had spoken their vows in Winterfell’s own godswood before a heart tree, and only then had she given herself to him, wrapped in furs amidst the snows as the old gods looked on. (Fire and Blood - The Dying Of The Dragons - A Son For A Son)
If I could show her Winterfell . . . give her a flower from the glass gardens, feast her in the Great Hall, and show her the stone kings on their thrones. We could bathe in the hot pools, and love beneath the heart tree while the old gods watched over us. ( ASOS, Jon V)
Wed to Ser Loras, oh . . . Sansa's breath caught in her throat. She remembered Ser Loras in his sparkling sapphire armor, tossing her a rose. Ser Loras in white silk, so pure, innocent, beautiful. The dimples at the corner of his mouth when he smiled. The sweetness of his laugh, the warmth of his hand. She could only imagine what it would be like to pull up his tunic and caress the smooth skin underneath, to stand on her toes and kiss him, to run her fingers through those thick brown curls and drown in his deep brown eyes. A flush crept up her neck. (ASOS, Sansa I)
"And the Dragonknight?" She flung the bedclothes aside and swung her legs to the floor. "The noblest knight who ever lived, you said, and he took his queen to bed and got her with child." (AFFC, The Soiled Knight)
Step 6: Trials and Tribulations In Apocalypse Times
His words were like an icy draft through her heart. "No," she said, suddenly afraid. Was this to be her punishment? Never to see his face again, nor to feel his arms around her? (AGOT, Catelyn II)
When he woke, there was nothing to do but think, and his waking thoughts were worse than nightmares. The thought of Cat was as painful as a bed of nettles. He wondered where she was, what she was doing. He wondered whether he would ever see her again. (AGOT, Eddard X)
Step 7: Due to Reasons of Convenience, These Cousins Must Totally Wed Now
His lord father had once talked about raising new lords and settling them in the abandoned holdfasts as a shield against wildlings. The plan would have required the Watch to yield back a large part of the Gift, but his uncle Benjen believed the Lord Commander could be won around, so long as the new lordlings paid taxes to Castle Black rather than Winterfell. "It is a dream for spring, though," Lord Eddard had said. "Even the promise of land will not lure men north with a winter coming on." If winter had come and gone more quickly and spring had followed in its turn, I might have been chosen to hold one of these towers in my father's name. (ASOS, Jon V)
"To be sure. It would not have been fitting for a daughter of Riverrun to marry one so far below her." Littlefinger spread his hands. "Now, though . . . a match between the Lady of the Eyrie and the Lord of Harrenhal is not so unthinkable, is it?" [...] Tyrion studied the slender man with the pointed beard and irreverent grey-green eyes. Lord of Harrenhal an empty honor? Bugger that, Father. Even if he never sets foot in the castle, the title makes this match possible, as he's known all along. (ASOS, Tyrion III)
And there was one woman, sitting almost at the foot of the third table on the left . . . the wife of one of the Fossoways, he thought, and heavy with his child. Her delicate beauty was in no way diminished by her belly, nor was her pleasure in the food and frolics. Tyrion watched as her husband fed her morsels off his plate. They drank from the same cup, and would kiss often and unpredictably. Whenever they did, his hand would gently rest upon her stomach, a tender and protective gesture. (ASOS, Tyrion VIII)
Commence lots of laundry and taxes and baby Starklings.

A/N:  Hi!!! I’ve been quite busy lately, and I didn’t always have the time to sit and write. So, I’m learning how to take some time just for myself and write. I guess it’s working because here I’m. The idea for this fic came out of nowhere. I was actually thinking about Bones, this other old show I loved so much. I remembered this sweet scene with Booth and Brennan, where she asked him if he needed time and space. I always loved that scene, so I decided to take that quote and see how it sounded with Supernatural. The result is not that bad if you asked me but let me know what you think. Oh, and stay tuned because a lot of new things are coming your way soon. Enjoy! 🖤
Tumblr media
She left him, again.
She did it right before Christmas, of all time. Who does that? His mom, apparently. He sighed while letting himself slip down the floor, his back resting against the bed. His mind was still too busy reliving the argument with his mom when a soft knock at the door caught his attention. Dean looked up just in time to see Y/N's head peeking inside the room. Shit, he thought when he saw her. He had totally forgotten they had plans that night.
"Hi..." She whispered, unsure.
"Oh sorry, I forgot about the movie."
"It's alright, don't worry about it," Y/N reassured him whit one of her gentle smiles. She slipped inside the room a bit more without entering properly, leaning to the door half opened. Dean watched her lingering at the entrance of his room, moving from one foot to the other. He never saw her so unsure, not around him at least.
"Did Sam tell you what happened?" He asked her, tilting his head to the side. Y/N sighed, resting her temple against the wooden door. She thought she wasn't being that obvious, but, apparently, she was wrong.
"Yeah. He also said you might need some time..." She whispered, gnawing at her lip. She glanced down, suddenly very interested in her shoes. "Do you? Need time, I mean." She asked him, peeking in his direction and catching him staring at her.
"Yeah, I think so."
"Okay."
"Okay."
Still biting her lip, Y/N glanced behind her ready to leave him alone. She was about to turn away and close the door when she stopped. Before she could even register what was happening her mouth was moving on her own accord.
"Do you need time and space?"
Dean's eyes never really left her. He saw her hesitation and when he was sure she would have left him too, she turned around catching him off guard.
"Just time..." he answered, giving her a barely there smile.
"Good, 'cause I brought the good stuff."
Y/N smiled at that, slipping inside the room, and showing him the whiskey bottle she was holding. She walked towards the bed, slid down next to him, and offered him the bottle. Dean took it and, without saying a word, took a long swig. He cleaned his mouth with the back of his hand before passing the bottle to her. Y/N took a sip of it, tasting the strong flavor of the liquor before passing it to him again. He took the bottle again without drinking this time. He leaned forward on his knees, trying to avoid her eyes, and ducking his head down she heard him sigh.
"People always leave me."
It was just a whisper and yet those few words managed to break her heart.
"Is it me?"
"Dean..."
"Am I doing something wrong?"
The moment she heard his voice quivering at the end her eyes filled with tears. Y/N leaned against him, laying her head on his shoulder while one of her arms sneaked between his in search of his hand. Against his better judgment, Dean opened his hand welcoming hers. His fingers closed around her warm skin almost afraid to see her go away too.
"Nothing's wrong with you."
"Then, why?" He whispered, leaning against her, letting his cheek rest on her forehead.
"It's not you, Dean. People leave all the time for multiple reasons."
He kept quiet, trying to process what she had just said to him. Maybe she was right; maybe it wasn't his fault. Not really anyway, even though it felt like it.
"How do I make people stay?"
Y/N swore her heart cracked a bit more for him and at that moment she knew: the world didn't deserve Dean Winchester. She let him go for a minute, turning towards him to get a better look at his face. She let her fingers travel along his stubble cheek, smiling at him.
"You don't, but that's okay. The right ones will stay by your side without you needing to ask them," she assured him, watching him leaning against her touch.
Dean swallowed hard, following the warmth of her fingers. She was about to let him go when he took hold of her hand, squeezing it between his warm ones. He leaned against the bed frame; his head turned to the side to have a better look at her features with their hands on his lap. His brow furrowed while her words echoed in his head.
The right ones will stay by your side without you needing to ask them.
"What about you?" he asked her, searching her eyes.
"What about me?"
"Do I have... I mean, are you...?" he stumbled, unsure of how to ask her.
To be honest, he wasn't even sure of what he was trying to ask her. He was just worried to see her walk away from him too. He knew that, in the worst case, he still had Sam. So, he wouldn't be completely alone, but he knew that losing Y/N too would definitely break his heart. He had already said goodbye to his mom, and he had to do it for a second time. He couldn't even say if it had hurt more now or when he was a kid, not that it mattered. And yet, if he really thought about it, he had to admit that he was somehow used to his mother's absence. The only difference was that this time was her choice to leave, which had hurt the most if he was being honest.
But with Y/N?
He wasn't used to not having her around, not speaking to her, not watching a movie with her, or simply enjoying a car ride together. And some part of him didn't even want to think how miserable his life without her in it could be.
"You're stuck with me, Winchester." she winked at him with a smile on her lips.
Dean's lips curved upward at that. He looked away, feeling his cheeks getting warmer under her gaze.
"I like the sound of that," he whispered, and his heart felt less heavy.

Mornin' Sunshine
Cas shuffled into the doorway, looking even more rumpled than usual. The combination of his rucked up hair, stubbled jaw, and the old Zeppelin tee that Dean had loaned him when they'd finally gotten him back from the empty several days ago, which was currently straining to contain Cas' bulging biceps, sent a rush of heat through Dean that had nothing to do with the piping-hot coffee.

For Suptober 2023 Day 9 - Starlight
Under the cut or on Ao3
Dean sighed in contentment as he took his first sip of morning coffee. Jack, Cas, and Eileen were still asleep, Sam was off on one of his runs, and Dean was taking the opportunity to enjoy the quiet in the kitchen.
No sooner had Dean had the thought than Cas shuffled into the doorway, looking even more rumpled than usual. (Seriously, when the hell had Cas gotten so ripped?)
With so much to distract him, Dean didn't manage to greet Cas until Cas had already started to pour his own cup of coffee. "Mornin', Sunshine," Dean said, his voice breathier than he would've liked.
Cas stiffened, suddenly setting the coffee carafe down on the counter with a thunk. "I don't..." He trailed off then stood for a long moment in silence, his fingers clenched around the handle of his mug so tight, his knuckles went white.
Finally, he turned around and Dean could see what he'd missed before during his sleepy ogling. Cas looked rough. Dark circles hung under his eyes and he looked haunted in a way that had Dean subconsciously checking for a weapon.
Cas said, "I understand if you don't want to talk about..." He grimaced. "Things."
Dean winced at the reminder of the clusterfuck in the dungeon when the empty claimed Cas, and how it had haunted his dreams ever since.
"But comparing me to the light of your system's star..." Cas frowned. "When you first said it all those years ago, I understood the phrase to be sarcastic. I am definitely not a 'morning person'."
Fuck, when did Cas doing air quotes get so adorable? Focus, Dean.
"But then," Cas continued. "You kept using it and it didn't seem to be sarcastic anymore. I had hoped..." He shook his head. "Now, though, with everything I said... You keep calling me..." Cas slumped, looking more exhausted and dejected than Dean could remember ever seeing him. "I don't understand what you mean. Please, just..."
Guilt slammed into Dean. Cas' haunted look was because of him? He'd been too chicken-shit to talk to Cas about, well much of anything since they'd gotten him back, and now...
"I mean..." Dean swallowed roughly and tried to push past the anxiety twisting in his gut. "I call you sunshine because..." I love you, never leave me again. The words stalled before they got to his throat, just like they always did.
Dean cleared his throat, nerves making him break out in a sweat despite the lingering chill in the underground bunker. C'mon Dean, just answer the fucking question! He opened his mouth and what came out was, "Because you make my day brighter." He wanted to bite back the words as soon as they left his mouth. That's the sappiest fucking thing anybody's ever said, I sound like an idiot!
Dean winced and risked a glance at Cas, sure that the lingering silence was caused by Cas holding back laughter.
Instead, Cas stared at Dean, a slight flush on his cheeks. "I... I do?"
Part of Dean's brain screamed at him to cover, deflect, joke his way the fuck out of this entire conversation, but the hope hiding just behind Cas' eyes left Dean helpless to do anything but nod.
Cas beamed, and if Dean thought the sight of Cas lit him up like the brightest sunshine when Cas was grumpy and rumpled, it was nothing compared to the fucking supernova that lit off in Dean's chest. Cas radiated pure joy, all of it directed at, and entirely because of, Dean. The ache of trying to contain so much in his chest was so strong that Dean felt tears sting at the backs of his eyes.
Suddenly, words were flowing out of Dean. "You always have. All of my plans, anytime I let myself think about the future, nothing's any good without you," He swallowed past the lump in his throat. "When I think about the good times, you're always there. Have been there, for years, you know?"
Cas nodded, his smile gone, but replaced by a wide-eyed look as he hung on every word Dean said.
"You get me, like nobody else ever has. Nobody. You're the only person I have to talk to about the shit that really bothers me, the only one besides Sam I trust to have my back when it counts, you're my..." Best friend, confidante, love of my life, none of the terms fit right, none of them seemed big enough, all of them too small for everything that Cas was to Dean. As soon as he thought of it, it came pouring out of his mouth. "You're my everything."
Dean barely registered the way Cas' breath caught, the energy in his chest flashing over into anger without warning. He was nearly shouting as he bit out, "So, no more deals, you hear me? You don't get to do that again. You don't get to just leave—" The word tore out of Dean's throat, leaving him panting, unable to see past the tears that had welled up without his permission.
This, Dean realized as he gasped for air. This is why I didn't want to talk.
The anger that Dean used as a shield, that helped him deal with feelings when they boiled over out of control like this, suddenly burst like a soap bubble, cutting off with a pathetic whimper, leaving him shaky and stripped down raw. "Don't leave," He whispered. "Please don't leave. I... I need you."
Without another word, Cas yanked Dean into a hug, wrapping both his arms around Dean's shoulders like he could wrap him up and keep him from all the hurt of the world. He whispered, his breath caressing Dean's ear, "I would move heaven, hell, earth, purgatory, and the empty to always stay by your side, Dean."
Dean sobbed out a breath and squeezed his arms around Cas' waist as tight as he could. Cas' arms tightened in response, surrounding Dean in warmth and strength, calling out to the blazing light that had been burning bright in his chest for over a decade. All the words Dean could never say welled up in Dean's throat, ready to choke him again, but this time, when he opened his mouth... "I... I love you, Cas."
The words came out rough and quiet, half-muffled against the soft cotton of Dean's old tee where it stretched over Cas' shoulder, but Cas heard, and squeezed Dean's shoulders so tight it made it hard to breathe.
Dean never wanted to be anywhere else.
