Hello! Oh there are so many! :D I definitely have some favorites and some which aren't favs but are pretty great.

Putting these under the cut because there are so many! And there's definitely more cool AUs that I haven't seen or haven't saved.

Anyways, please enjoy my personal selection:

Seven Years Too Soon by NightFuchia. Basically what if a much younger Sonic accidentally set Shadow free from Prison Island. It has awesome characterization and happens to be one of my favorite stories. The rest of Team Sonic is also present

Brotherhood's Twist by @/drawloverlala even though I don't think it counts entirely as Au but it still sort of does. Unbreakable Bond ageswitch due to Zeti's meddling.

Passion's @sonic-tangled-au . I love it! So very much. The lore and backstories are so good.

Noonui's World Restored in Imbalanced Chaos au. Extremely engaging and good. Has a bunch of world building and fun concepts and lore.

Sonic's Super Totally Awesome Mixtape, though it seems to be discontinued, I'm not sure. It's pretty good so far! Takes place in the movie verse.

@brainworms-all-night-long is working on a Dreamtale Au which I'm hyped for. The tag in use is 'dreamtale and sonic tomfoolery'.

@/the-starlight-project comic is pretty good too. Mystery! And emotions. So many emotions ough.

And there's @the-emerald-isle-au by @0vergrowngraveyard . Very intriguing. 👀

The Fair Folk by Irritable_Fabulamancer, this fic is one of my favorites! Team Sonic as Fae my beloved! I love fae AUs.

On that note, if you're alright wanting to read a Fae!AU which is pretty much a sonadow fic, there is also I don't believe in fairy tales [but I believe in you and me]. Fantasy and Fae! Satbk inspired, another one that had me hooked.

My Arms Are Blue by thekyuubivixen and its unofficial, fan-continuation (My Arms Are Blue! Final Four Edition) by PlaystationPassenger. The story doesn't completely count as an AU but I'm recommending them anyway cuz they're really really good and has that watching your own show from different dimension trope. It's also hilarious and fun.

Burning Arrow, Wildfire Heart by Taranea is SatSR novelisation AU with Sonic's other friends present too, it's pretty fun. Not very accurate regarding the desert but it's a good read and I come back to reread it often. Must read in my opinion. Just don't dare use it as guide for desert travel or you'll be shriveled up in the sand somewhere

This fic. Read it, I will not elaborate this one. Just trust me :]

And don't miss out on @shadofiredragon's Legends Never Die fic. It's a future fic! And an awesome one. I won't spoil much but it is so good. She also has lots of fun AUs in the works.

Down the Foxhole series by MoonlitNightin. Sonic Prime AU series which is great! Tails' pov. The Shatterverses have their own Sonics. Engaging and great.

Feel free to check out @/Son1c's 10verse and other AUs. Those are some pretty great ones. Love the different lore and variants given to the Shatterverses in 10verse.

Spirit of the Wind by TrenchCoatGecko. Satbk inspired fantasy au. Sonamy, has focus on magic and lore and other characters as well.

Haven't yet started reading The Fox's Burrow by @/space-gutz but I'm planning to. Recommending it either way cuz I feel like it's gonna be good. Unbreakable Bond but ageswaped au.

@/sonicchaoscontrol comic. Another in-progress au which is also quite intriguing. Sonic jumps through a portal and exits in future where the planet is a mess. The mystery of what and how it all happened and what's going on slowly unfolds.

The Buzzsaw Dillemma by redpenship. I haven't personally read it myself but I've heard many good things about it, especially it's world building.

Incomplete and won't be updated anymore but if you haven't read them yet, DO NOT miss out on Ghosts of the Future and The Murder of Me fancomics by Evan Stanley (spiritsonic) and Gigi Deutrix (gigi-D) respectively. They're a must read. Both are available on DeviantArt.

The Heart of a Monster comic, @/the-heart-of-a-monster. It's in progress and updates regularly. Unleashed retelling, really really good with some extra lore and everyone involved.

Sometimes the Picket Fence isn’t Perfect and Sharp Edges (Sonic Prime AU) series by @/skimmingthesurfaces. I'm holding off the first one to read later, like that one book you've been saving so I'm not sure if it completely counts as an AU, still putting it in recs, and the second one is intriguing so far. I have heard a lot of good thing about the Picket Fence series.

Dark Boom by Smash50. The entirety of Team Dark in the Sonic Boom universe. Alongside it, there's also Boomtober by the same author.

It Always Snows by the 24th by Selendred had me hooked even though it's a oneshot. Great au and would love to see it explored more.

No One said I Wish by SylWritesStuff. One of my fav stories from the Sonic Platonic Fairytale Week event. It's really funny.

Sonic Phantom Forces (SPF) au comic. Sonic Forces au, blue boy gets taken away but not in the way you think, pretty cool story so far. It's in-progress and available on both Tumblr and DeviantArt. @/spfau

If Black Doom tried to be a better father by Tirainy. Don't take this one seriously. It's pure comedy and I love every second of it. Shadow is having a time for sure XD.

Silent Talkers by @brainworms-all-night-long. Takes place in the Prime Bros verse, feels intensified, all the good ones. A must read, trust me.

And speaking of the Prime Bros AU (in which all Shatterverse foxes also got adopted by Sonic and are now brothers), feel free to scroll through the 'prime bros' tag here. So many awesome posts for this particular au by everyone!

There's so many more, cool ones, epic ones. I haven't saved all and I'm probably forgetting some great ones too so I'm leaving this open for others to add. If y'all have more cool AUs, plz add to these (I wanna check em out too)

Premonition by thekiyuubivixen (not entirely an au but it feels like one due to the unique ability Sonic gains)

The Sonic Project by SconnieSA. Rated M but it's a pretty awesome AU and the rating is due to more serious themes and uncensored language in some parts. Highly recommending this one

Survivor's Resolve by DC111. Not entirely an AU but I must rec this fic it's so good and doea havs some AU vibes.

Sonic the Hedgehog: Attorney of Law by thedraconicwerewolf. Ace Attorney type AU with Sonic and Tails as main characters. Not too adventurous but very very fun and interesting and still managed to keep Sonic in character. Though it has a sequel started, I only rec the main story, not the sequal as it seems to be abandoned and isn't needed to be read like them cliffhanger stories.

beLIEve by Meow21. I have only read snippets from this, waiting for this story to continue but it seems to be discontinued. Felt like an epic story too and deserves to be recommended.

Sonic and the Golden Journey. Sonic gets thrown in another storybook, this time it's a children's classic fairytale. Short but very comedic and fun. Go read it.

Tales of a Samurai. I am begging you to read this one, please it's so good. Also by Taranea.

Wonderful and it's sequal Sanctuary by Inflamore for some Unbreakable Bond angst. (Kindly ignore the obliviousness of earlier ff.net for not knowing the meaning of certain symbols, there's nothing of the sort in story, trust me.)

Regrets by MazzyBooks. A high school au of sorts. Sonic centric with some heavy angst. I'm not kidding about the angst part, trust me. It had me hooked from the first chapter though and I believe it deserves a rec.

You need the cracks (to let the light shine through) by king.needlemouse. Istg this is the most underrated thing I've ever come across, it's one of my absolute favorite fics which I can never forget. Do read it.

Within this Nightmare by sonicfan1990. Sonic get transported to an alternate universe which has gone post apocalyptic and his counterpart in that universe has been dead. Pretty great story, lots of angst and everything.

And that's all I could remember and have saved for now. I'm leaving this open to more AU recs (yes even self plugs are welcome) so if you know any I missed, plz feel free to add. I hope you enjoy all these great AUs!

For the, CookieMonster as she referred to herself as was one of the kindest, VTuber’s around, she was also an infamous, and highly skilled FPS player, wining several rewards for her skills, and earning the nickname of: Red Reaper. But, to her fans she was an adorable ball of sunshine, CookieMonster.

Errant: Hello, Cookie! You excited for today?

Cookie: I am super excited! I’ve been so looking forward to this game, and I am super happy you asked me to join you in playing it!

Cookie’s joy, and excitement was palpable as she spoke in her happy-go-luck aura she excluded over herself. Errant found himself smiling at her words, but it fell as he adopted an inquisitive look across his face.

Errant: Uhh…? D-Didn’t you ask me if I wanted to do a collab, and stream this together?

Cookie couldn’t help but look away nervously at being caught before she nervously replied back.

Cookie: I’m super happy you said yes to doing a collab stream with me!

Errant: Alright. So you ready to play, Cookie?

Cookie: Almost, just gotta say to my chat, and we can begin. Is that alright?

Cookie swiftly muted herself so, Errant couldn’t hear him as she looked down at her chat feed. Her face was all smiles before the smile fell, and she screamed in terror at her chat.

Errant’s little interjection to grab, Cookie’s attention, resulted in her screaming her head off, and falling into a heap on the floor, out of camera. The only sound emanating from her now the was pained growing as she laid upon the ground.

Errant looked towards his chat before uttering a single word that would become to define the events of todays stream.

If I may get out one last post for the year, something I thought of when answering an ask recently is that I think I've got why I’m not getting behind the next generation of heroes surpassing their predecessors. The manga’s still trying to make those predecessors so inspiring and right in what they do that it’s stopped acknowledging the flaws that the students are supposed to be surpassing. Like, sure Hawks had his "contributions" to the 1st war; but the manga will still let him get a few cool one-liners off on AFO. He's still presented as someone for the kids like Tokoyami to aspire too. As a result, the students end up doing all the same things as those inspiring current pros would do instead of surpassing them.

I mean I recently saw it said that Deku was surpassing All Might by doing the one thing he couldn’t; saving Tomura. But did All Might not do that because he was incapable, or did he just…get forced into retirement first? We know he wanted to save Tomura. Do we really have reason to say he couldn’t besides not being given the opportunity, and if so, is that opportunity really the edge Deku has over All Might?

And Shoto and Endeavor both conclude their arcs trying to save Touya. They fail at this if you ask me but Shoto at least stops him from exploding…but his quirk is the only reason he manages that. That really ends up being the difference his contribution to the Todoroki finale has over his father's, he had an ice quirk to help cool Touya.

The students have even ended up participating in the really morally grey stuff we'd criticize the pros for, at least on the professional side; like using a hospital to hold Kurogiri, brainwashing Machia, and Deku still seems the only one who wasn't trying to murder Tomura in the Sky Coffin. And they get the same justifications of “but this villain’s so dangerous” and “the greater good” thrown around for them like when the current pros got criticized for doing stuff like this. Which tracks when, like I said, those criticisms didn't stop Endeavor from being shown as a good guy or Hawks from getting a cool one-liner or two off on AFO. Why would Class 1A avoid being like this?

There’s just not a lot of sense of actual improvement going around, I'm finding; the kids are only doing marginally better because the story lets them in this instance (and often in ways not replicable or applicable to their future heroics: I don't think Ochako can date every Toga Himiko-type she'll come across after all. So they're not beating any "treating the League as one-time exceptions" allegations either). Otherwise, they act exactly the same; Deku does what AM would do and (baring Ochako) the rest of the kids do what any general pro hero would do in their circumstance. In the end it leaves me feeling like instead of surpassing the pros, they’re simply ending up standing by their side as equals ready to be the next verse, same as the first. Everything will go back to normal, good and bad, including everything that brought us here in the first place.

It's like the series is now going "C'mon, the old pros weren't so bad, right? All Might wasn't so bad, right?" And strictly speaking that's even correct, All Might wasn't bad. In fact as I went over in that ask, he was frankly the best; the best any hero could ever be. It makes sense how Deku struggles with surpassing him in terms of behaviour while striving the same goals the same way. But All Might also wasn't enough. So if Deku's just acting as an extension rather than an improvement, I don't think he'll be enough either.

And I guess that’s the main problem I’m hoping gets addressed by this series in the new year (or if my part two theory comes true, then in the years to come after Hori takes a long break).

Soo it’s 5 am and I have some miscellaneous thoughts on brendon ending panic!

Panic has been a shambling corpse since like 2014

I’m glad that brendon isn’t gonna be walking around wearing the shield of Ryan’s teenage accomplishments.

I have trouble defining panic at the disco!, I feel like a lot of people do. Obviously Fever and pretty. Odd are “true panic!” and here are my opinions on the other albums

to get it out of the way, I consider vices and virtues “real panic!” Primarily because a lot of it was made by dallon weekes. I hear so much dallon in v&v, to me at least he has such a particular style. It leans so heavy into that 1920s orchestral baroque pop rock.

listening to a lot of the brobecks you can kind of tell what he brought to v&v cause it’s present in his other music. Think of a track like visitation of the ghost. It just reminds me quite a bit of ballad of Mona Lisa. Old timey feeling Haunting intro with soft spoken verses and explosive choruses.

I also think it’s important to acknowledge the way that dallon was treated during his time in panic! And that many ideas and songs were stolen and changed by brendon even in later albums so, keep that in mind.

I still think that v&v is an awesome mind child from one artist I really love and one I at least used to love. I suggest that anyone that likes v&v check out dallons other work. if you wanna get into a band that isn’t like from the 2000s but still has that nostalgic dallon weekes feel absolutely listen to IDKHOW. And if you want a indie feeling vices and virtues, go listen to violent things.

After v&v is where things get fuzzy. My opinion on too weird to live too rare to die is positive. I used to dislike/not listen to this album until pretty recently, But this comes back around to the stealing thing. The song that originally changed my opinion on TWTLTRTD was far too young to die. as some may know, that’s dallons song and you could and should go listen to his demo, it’s so good. songs like girls/girls/boys and all the boys(not on the album) we’re also taken and changed from dallon in some form.

So yeah, obviously they’re good songs, brendon didn’t really make them, which is something I find I say over and over again when talking about panic!

As for death of a bachelor. It’s definitely not a bad album. it was one of my favorites in my tweens. But looking back on it, it’s very… brendon. I believe that at some point brendon himself made decent/good music. And that point is death of a bachelor. It’s him. It sounds like a solo project it sounds like just his musical influence, and it’s good. Not amazing. But they’re good songs. Maybe I’ve just listened to them so so so many times but they’re not all that remarkable anymore.

Now into the decline. When pray for the wicked came Out embarrassingly enough i really liked it. I was 14. Listening to it now I think it’s alright. Very mediocre album, a far cry from real panic!

I do think it has some interesting sounds like, i don’t mind the intro to roaring 20s. And old fashioned isn’t bad, but it sounds like a Taylor swift song, I swear. Just imagine her vocals instead. Which isn’t a bad thing I love Taylor but it’s definitely not panic!

An important note about pray for the wicked is the start of Brendon’s vocal deterioration. From what I’ve heard brendon doesn’t take care of his voice, he’s also a smoker which definitely doesn’t help. This takes us right into…. Viva las vengeance.

I’ll save you the savage take down of this album that has already been torn to shreds. It’s just bad. It’s so insanely bad. It not just bad, it’s lifeless. Like a dead wet fish being smacked against the ground. His voice bothers me like nothing else.

Brendon was always praised for his voice, and specifically, his high notes. And if you know the guy, you know he loves attention. So he kept busting out high notes, kept throwing them in live during songs that didn’t call for them. At first it was cool, I remember being so impressed with his dream on cover.

But it’s just not cool anymore. He seems to have damaged his voice into locking in a high register. He almost never uses his lower register anymore.

I don’t have to spell out why that is so unfortunate. being all high notes isn’t impressive or healthy . It’s only cool when it’s special. I remember how people used to talk about victorious and how vocally impressive it was. Now it’s all he can do.

The actual music in viva las vengeance is bad too. I don’t know a lot of music theory but I do know it just sounds hollow. Middle of a breakup sounds like generic kids YouTube Chanel backing track and don’t let the lights go out is just empty and off putting.

And. Local. God.

At first, The fact that he even opened his mouth about Ryan after all these years felt confusing and infuriating. Its hard to even explain what brendon is trying to do. It’s not a diss track. But taking a second to relax and actually listen, It seems like a lament? a lament of a time long Gone. To me he maybe is thinking back on what he could have done differently. Should he have been like Ryan? Should he have let the music speak for itself instead of selling out and single-handedly running this once great band into a wall. I hear so much regret in the way he takes about ryan. I can tell he still admires him.

My final opinion is, As bad as the song is, it’s still closure to me. He finally actually made a song about how he feels about Ryan Ross and early panic. It’s almost validating to know he really has been holding onto this for so many years. it wasn’t just us looking way too into things. We all had a feeling he still thought about early panic even when he denied it. A lot of the things that felt like they were about Ryan probably were. So excuse me while I high five my younger self.

All in all, I’m glad panic can finally die. As someone who’s been invested in this band and the fraught relationship between these two men for the better half of my life, the circle feels completed. Ryan said his piece with lonely moonlight, brendon with local god. Ryan got what he wanted, to never sell out even if it means fading away. And brendon rode his superstardom straight into the ground. It all makes sense. I feel like I can lay it all to rest.

To me, The life and death of panic! at the disco is a tale of creative integrity, and just what it means to be a real musician. This band birthed the yin and Yang of selling out. The shining example of someone who refused to let his music be warped and hollowed by fame. And someone who only knows how to take and change for the sake of it.

The band is gone, The legacy lives on only through us now. Thanks for reading this long ass post. Stay real out there panic! Fans.

Sashamilla version of Rewrite the Stars.

This is my thought today. (Actually not really I’ve had it for months, today is the day I finally write it down.)

However, Milla is in Zac Efron’s role and Sasha’s is in Zendaya’s. It just fits their personalities and worldviews way better. Milla is the idealistic dreamer who’s accomplished and overcome so much she’s convinced she can do pretty much everything. Because she can but that’s besides the point. She’s also in tune with her own and other’s emotions to be able to actually call out the present feelings(“you know I want you / it’s not a secret I try to hide / I know you want me”).

Meanwhile Sasha is the more negative centered side of the argument voiced by Zendaya. Both the negativity charged powers and literally being down to earth compared to Milla play into it. Also crucially is that this is the side of the argument that fate is real and cannot be changed(“no one can rewrite the stars / how can you say that you’ll be mine?”). While there’s no definitive proof in the games that Sasha thinks fate is absolute, he does have a line in RoR that might believe in destiny, but also would not actively attempt to change it, “Who am I to stand in the way of our destiny, even if that destiny is our destruction?” Plus there’s the stars/galaxy/space/aliens special interest so yeah Stars. Sasha stands pretty firmly on the side of order to the point that chaos is hard to function for him so the idea of rewriting the stars/constellations, even if possible, could also get some derision from him.

And then there’s the idea of the song to begin with, that our leads are separated by something insurmountable. The in text scenario from the musical can apply to sashamilla since they’re also an interracial couple. But racism is depressing, so there’s some alternative factors that can be used. There’s the idea that because they’re opposites that they’re simply too different from each other. They’re “doomed to break” if you will. Or a more psychological reason could be played that the reason they can’t be together is because their past trauma of suddenly losing a loved one prevents them from truly loving another person again. Of course with this context, it would mean that Milla is ready to try to love someone else again, and Sasha isn’t, which is believable. I personally think that although romantic relationships shouldn’t really define characters, I do think that Sasha/Milla is the other’s happy ending by being able to love another person again especially when they’re both in such a dangerous field. They’re both likely to die suddenly, but they both decide that love/being loved is worth the possible reoccurring pain and that’s their happy ending by choosing to be happy with each other.

Additionally the verses “because we’re able to be / just you and me within these walls / but when we go outside / you’re gonna wake up and see / that it was hopeless after all” can be whatever you interpreted above. “Within these walls” can refer to their own minds/privacy where they can be fine by themselves but not in public aka “outside.” Or it can refer to the Psychonauts as a sanctuary that they can be psychics or basically share parts that can’t be comfortably shown to the rest of the world “outside.” I really like these verses in relation to the ship, good opportunity for storytelling.

Now if this was an animatic, I’d suggest that the visuals take place inside their minds. With Milla’s levitation a similar thing can be done with the trapeze art(?) from the original musical. But the entire time it’s abundantly clear visually how the other sticks out in the opposing mind. I think it would be cool if they were chasing each other. So it starts out in Milla’s mind, and she’s just singing her heart out but she’s just too good at levitating and Sasha cannot keep up with her. They both have points of just barely being close enough but momentum is just a bit stronger, fate’s just a little bit stronger.

And then during the transition where it would be Sasha’s turn to sing, he’s given up on trying to keep up and just leaves back to his own mind. Milla obviously follows after, she’s chasing now. But despite his mind being a large cube with tons of empty space the entire time it’s unfolding and refolding back as both for Sasha to move around and Milla to stumble over her own obstacles. I also want the idea of the appearing/disappearing trapdoor from PN1 to be an element during where Sasha keeps suddenly disappearing through spaces that you wouldn’t immediately identify as doors. It would also coincide with the verse “and there are some doors that we can’t walk through” emphasis on the we specifically(because I like literalism). Milla’s good with levitation but with what’s effectively teleportation she’s struggling to keep up.

Of course the repeated line of “(what if we/no one can) rewrite the stars” is accompanied but different but similar visuals depending on the mind. Milla’s has spinning lights from the disco balls, and the geometric/math like designs in the sky in Sasha’s that I interpreted as constellations is of course, the stars.

Also the line “I want to fly with you / I want to fall with you.” I have no thoughts. It’s just them, I don’t really have to explain that. I’m just pointing it out.

The final part of the song where both voices come in for an overlapping duet would be cool if the aesthetics of both of their minds somehow combined. I don’t know how. It might even be a nightmare to design, but it would be interesting and like a blending of their ideas and persons into this new destiny they’ve created. But nonetheless it should look beautiful. They’re finally in sync, being able to fly and fall together.

I just think the song fits them and their personalities. And there’s the irony that I’m pretty sure they were, in reality, designed for each other. That they “were the one they were might to find” so, cute, obviously. So, yeah, my thoughts on a song and a ship.

what made you pick up this character?

Itachi was actually my first ever rp muse! Allllllll the way back when, when we didn't even know the truth about the massacre and Pein was only a silhouette and believed to be Minato but actually called Uzumaki Arashi. Good ol' days. But also - I picked him because I was just so drawn to his backstory, or lack thereof. At the time we only knew he was Sasuke's older brother who apparently had gone psycho out of the blue, and I just had this hunch that there had to be more about that mess. Also because, honestly, do you realize how cool Itachi's first appearance was.

how did you get into this franchise/fandom?

I got into Naruto because my first boyfriend was a big fan and introduced me to it lmao. And then I introduced my best friend and we started writing together just for funsies, and then suddenly our whole group of friends joined in and it became a glorious mess and so much fun.

what’s the best thing about the show/series/books/comics/etc.?

I mean... it's the typical shonen anime? So it provides super cool battles and action sequences, as expected. But, not to be biased, I totally am the Akatsuki are one of the coolest antagonist groups ever created. I put them on legendary levels such as the Ginyu Force from Dragon Ball.

what’s the worst thing about the show/series/books/comics/etc.?

Probably the ungodly amount of fillers. I understand why they happen but, personally, I would much rather wait and go for a few months without content than to be presented with low-effort ideas and plots that, often, only ruin the pacing and even provoke continuity errors. And I gotta say, Kishimoto's treatment of female characters is questionable at best.

what’s the best thing about the fandom?

The fandom itself! Fandoms are what we make of them, and especially on a website such as tumblr where you are responsible for curating your own dashboard experience (...if we do not count the stupid tumblr ads and recommendations). Meeting new people with similar interests, the possibility to make friends that live literally on the other side of the world, getting to write with super talented people that develop your own muse so much, watching people get passionate about their muse(s) and creating such wonderful headcanons and metas.

what’s the worst thing about the fandom?

Again, the fandom itself. There are nice people and toxic people everywhere and that's unavoidable. In my humble opinion, what matters is to focus on the good ones.

what’s the best thing about the canon you are writing?

Itachi's whole story breaks my heart. At the same time, there is A LOT about him that was never disclosed in canon (even with the Shinden novels) and I love to explore those parts. I love to imagine stuff like what would his hobbies be, how would he react to [insert situation], how would he get along with [insert character] if they met. One of my favorite things, at the moment, is to create headcanons for my post-war verse and to create my own canon about how Itachi would adapt to things such as now being practically blind, having to properly monitor his illness, his thoughts and emotions about returning to Konoha, how to try to fix things with Sasuke, etc etc - it's been so much fun!

what’s the worst thing about the canon you are writing?

Uhhh nothing really? I mean, there are the general issues about Naruto as a whole, but regarding Itachi specifically I can't really think of any huge problems right now. Other than him being dead T-T

have you tweaked the character from canon? if so, what did you tweak?

No and yes. No, because I try my best to be as in-character as possible and to be faithful to Itachi's nature as a character. But, yes, because I write a lot of canon-divergent verses and those obviously require adapting. Even in purely canon settings, I'd say I tweak some stuff in that, for example, I love writing Itachi as a quirky child (and then teen and adult) and as a very caring and nurturing person, even when he cannot openly show it. It's totally fine if not everybody agrees with my interpretation but, to me, it makes a lot of sense and gives me a lot of joy to write.

are there some things you dislike about how the show/series/etc. portray the character you have picked up? if so, what?

I wouldn't say I dislike... but also because, all in all, Itachi doesn't have much screen time lol. So there isn't much of a chance for Kishimoto to screw him over. I would, however, have loved a chance to see Itachi ponder on the circumstances that led to the massacre - for example, does he grow to regret his choice as he gets older? He does this reflection a bit when talking to Naruto during the Edo Tensei period, but that wasn't enough for me damn it! Also, while we're here, I'm gonna be forever salty that, in that same period, we were denied a chance for Itachi to reunite with Kisame and with Shisui.

what would you say is the most unique trait about your character?

Itachi has a lot of idiosyncrasies, which is one of the reasons why I love him. Little quirky nerd weasel~ Perhaps the most unique trait, however, is his idealism. He was severely traumatized by the third war and that is the basis for his idealism but, at the same time, he truly believes in what he preaches. He truly believes that he can get strong enough to make this world a better place and this is the sort of undying motivation to do good that, for example, I only see in Shisui. Of course, a lot of other characters have their own strong motivations (Naruto himself being the easiest example), but these two Uchiha idiots are mostly the ones who commit to the there's some good in this world and it's worth fighting for mindset.

are there any other characters from the franchise you’d like to play?

On discord, I have written little bits and pieces of Kimimaro, Temari, and Rock Lee.

are there some characters from the franchise you can’t stand?

I can't stand Danzo for all the obvious reasons, but that's also exactly why I love him as a villain. And, um... the same applies to Hiruzen, in a way. I do believe that Hiruzen is a man with good intentions, but he always falls victim to his own passiveness. The way Itachi goes to him after having literally just murdered his parents and traumatized his little brother for life and all Hiruzen can say is I'm so sorry this happened. Hiruzen is just a gutless Danzo, resting on the laurels of the whole Will of Fire spiel.

what are your thoughts on the canon ships for the character, if any?

Honestly, I'm not even sure if Itachi has a canon ship? Izumi is supposed to be his girlfriend but at the same time it can easily be taken as Izumi having an unrequited crush. Personally, I think they are very cute together but I would have loved to see more development other than to make it like "let's give Itachi a gf because he's cool and needs a girl to dangle as a trophy".

what is your personal ship bias for your canon character?

I am dying on the Kisame/Itachi hill and unapologetically so. Their bond is so special and precious to me, the way they grow from not-so-veiled death threats upon first meeting to genuinely respecting each other. The way Kisame, known as the Monster of the Bloody Mist, lets this scrawny Uchiha kid take the lead and trusts him without reserves. The way Itachi cares, even if he must keep up his detached psychopath persona, and keeps Kisame out of harm's way whenever he feels a battle won't go in his favor. THEIR MATCHING RINGS, IN BOTH THE FINGER POSITION AND THE SYMBOL MEANING. And the way Itachi is literally what Kisame thinks of as he's about to offer himself to his sharks. All of this is so *CLENCHES FIST*

are there any ships you can’t stand, why?

...Um. Sasuke/Itachi.

how long have you been writing the character?

Technically, for almost two decades. Not continuously so. If we are talking about this blog only, then it's been since January 2024.

should people get into the franchise you're writing from, yes or no?

I mean, sure? If they like the franchise and have characters they would like to write? I don't see why not.

if you could sum up your character with one sentence, what would it be?

I already did it above, so: Little Quirky Nerd Weasel

which song do you feel describes your character the most and why?

I have a few, actually! For some examples: "Gasoline", by Halsey, "Second Chance", by Shinedown, "The World of Mercy", by DIR EN GREY (this one is particularly👌👌👌for my villain verse). I think they're very Itachi-coded in both lyrics and melody. And, of course, the song in my pinned post: "Scarlet", by Yamaoka Akira. This song is peak Itachi vibes, especially when you look into his eyes. And, uh. Generally, almost all DIR EN GREY songs inspire me a lot to write his replies, because a lot of them are also the songs that I started writing him to, all those years back.

Captain America: Civil War ft Static (4) | s.r

Pairings: Steve Rogers x Stark!Reader, Tony Stark x Stark!Reader (siblings)

Genre: Angsty, Political

Summary: After watching Steve become an international fugitive to save his best friend (again), Tony wants to just talk to him and his sister to get them to sign the Accords and keep the Avengers together. But it seems like everyone has different plans.

(These scenes incorporate y/n, codename—Static, into the pre-existing story as a character without making drastic changes to the plot or mythos. All the major plot points from the MCU remain in place with the addition of the reader as Static, who is not only a Stark but also enhanced. Whatever events from the canon aren’t mentioned, take place without much change.)

Warnings: Swearing.

a/n: ok so, y/n isn't explicitly stated to be any race but seeing as I am POC, I wrote her with the same ideas in mind. I think it's especially important during this story to have someone from a different background to put forward their opinion. And I will not apologize for presenting that perspective in the media that I CHOOSE to write.

“Hey, you wanna see something cool?” Tony asks as he enters the tense room. It’s filled with a ringing silence. “I pulled something from Dad's archives. Felt timely.” With his free hand, he shows Steve two pens in a black presentation box with his blazer hanging off the other. Discarding the blazer off in the corner, he continues, “FDR signed the Lend-Lease bill with these in 1941.” He puts it on the table in front of him, where Steve is now seated. “Provided support to the Allies when they needed it most.”

“Some would say it brought our country closer to war,” Steve replies coyly.

And man, if that doesn’t annoy Tony.

“See? If not for these, you wouldn't be here,” he throws back. But then he sees the smile on Steve’s face and he relents. “I'm trying to . . . what do you call it?” He takes a seat opposite him. “That's an olive branch. Is that what you call it?”

“Is Pepper here?” He asks casually, looking around. “I didn't see her.

Oh boy, Tony thinks.

“We're kinda . . . well, not kinda . . .” He tries.”

“Pregnant?” Steve prompts.

“No. Definitely not.” He scoffs self-deprecatingly. “We're taking a break,” he admits. “It's nobody's fault.” His fault.

“I'm so sorry, Tony. I didn't know,” Steve says with genuine care reflected in his eyes. And you know that’s the bummer of it all. He knows that Steve means it. He knows that at the end of the day, no matter how much Steve buts heads with him, and pushes him on things he doesn’t want to be pushed, he does it because he is the most genuine person to ever fucking be genuine. The biggest challenge of wanting, almost needing to hate the Captain America he grew up hearing unending praise of is that all the praise was well founded. Cap, Steve is the kind of man, even Tony would want to rattle off to his kid about. Because that is the envious charm of Steve Rogers. He’s unbelievably admirable, even in the worst of times, such as these.

“A few years ago, I almost lost her, so I trashed all my suits,” he tells Steve. “Then, we had to mop up HYDRA . . . and then Ultron. My fault.” It was. “And then, and then, and then, I never stopped. Because the truth is I don't wanna stop.” But the thing is, “I don't wanna lose her. I thought maybe the Accords could split the difference.“ He stands up and paces a little. “In her defence, I'm a handful. Yet, Dad was a pain in the ass, but he and Mom always made it work,” He ponders aloud.

Looking at his reflection in the glass wall in front of him, he fixes his tie.

“You know, I'm glad Howard got married. I only knew him when he was young and single,” Steve remarks.

“Oh, really? You two knew each other?” He picks his blazer off the table he’s dumped it on. “He never mentioned that. Maybe only a thousand times.” He begins putting his blazer on. “God, I hated you,” He admits, because fuck yeah he hated him. Steve was this unseen, un-present figure in his life that he was supposed to live up to. And try as he might, he never could.

“I don't mean to make things difficult,” Steve appeals.

“I know, because you're a very polite person.” Tony walks past his chair to stand in the other corner.

“If I see a situation pointed south . . . I can't ignore it. Sometimes I wish I could.”

Bullshit.

“No, you don't.”

Steve smiles thinly. “No, I don't. Sometimes—”

Tony cuts him off. “Sometimes I wanna punch you in your perfect teeth. But I don't wanna see you gone. We need you, Cap. So far, nothing's happened that can't be undone, if you sign. We can make the last 24 hours legit. Barnes gets transferred to an American psych centre instead of a Wakandan prison.”

He can see the wheels in Steve’s beautiful blond head turning. He can see the man in front of him considering his offer.

Steve frowns thoughtfully and picks up one of the fountain pens from the presentation box. He stands up and paces, then turns to Tony. Behind him, in the control room beyond there are multiple screens on the walls, looking over every inch of the facility. Steve’s always looked big and strong, even in situations like this. Where he’s backed into a corner, not a lot of leg room, barely anywhere to run.

But it’s the kind of place Steve thrives, Tony presumes. ‘I could do this all day’ bullshit coming into play or whatever.

“I'm not saying it's impossible, but there would have to be safeguards,” Steve supplies.

And Tony finally has an inch.

“Sure,” He agrees instantly. “Once we put out the PR fire, those documents can be amended.” He takes the seat previously occupied by Steve. “I'd file a motion to have you and Wanda reinstated—”

“Wanda? What about Wanda?”

“She's fine. She's confined to the compound, currently. Vision's keeping her company,” Tony answers.

“Oh God, Tony!” Of course. Stevie go boom boom. “Every time. Every time I think you see things the right way—”

“What? It's a 100 acres with a lap pool. It's got a screening room. There's worse ways to protect people,” Tony argues.

“Protection?” Steve challenges. “Is that how you see this? This is protection? It's internment, Tony,” His voice rising at the end.

“She's not a US citizen,” Tony argues, his voice rising in retaliation.

“Oh, come on, Tony!”

“And they don't grant visas to weapons of mass destruction!”

“She's a kid!”

“GIVE ME A BREAK!” Tony pleads. “I'm doing what has to be done . . . to stave off something worse.”

But before Steve can say anything—

“No, you’re not.”

He looks at his sister. “It speaks… Apparently only to disagree with me… but it speaks.”

“I’m not disagreeing with you for fun, Tony. You’re blind if you can’t see that.” She bites back from where she’s standing at the other head of the table, opposite him.

“I am doing this for us,” Tony pleads. And why can’t she see that? The rest of them are fine. He expected pushback from Steve but why her? She’s supposed to have his back, always. So why can’t she see that is necessary?

“You’re not. You’re doing this for you.”

“Doesn’t negate the fact that it needs to be done,” Tony counters.

“Sounds pretty arrogant, don’t you think?”

He is well aware of the fact that he’s being arrogant, by why shouldn’t he be? This is inevitable. They are drowning, and he’s trying to get everyone to get on the lifeboat but she seems instant on going down with the Titanic.

“Doesn’t negate the fact that I’m right,” he states.

“For fuck’s sake, Tony! This shit is bigger than your ego.” She slams her hand against the table. And I’m the dramatic one?

“This shit is also bigger than your little crush on baby blue eyes over there,” He says, pointing accusingly at Steve. Is it a cheap shot? Yes. He knows that it is. But a part of him can’t help but feel that it might be true. He knows, he knows that no one can ever make Y/n do anything that she doesn’t want to but part of him—not as tiny as he would like—thinks that this never would’ve happened if Steve wasn’t around. If he wasn’t here, opposing him, she wouldn’t have either. Because when has she ever done that before? She has his back, always. He has hers. It’s always been that way. There is only one thing that has changed in their equation—the Star Spangled Man has started doing the devil’s tango with her.

“What the fuck is that supposed to mean?” She asks, her eyebrows raised. It almost feels like she’s giving him a chance to reconsider, retrace his steps, make something up and try to act like he didn’t insinuate what he just did.

But ever the stubborn asshole, he says, “It means that half the reason you don’t want to sign the accords is that he doesn’t want to sign it.”

“Get over yourself, Tony. I don’t agree with a single thing he’s said,'' she states, contempt clear in her voice. “I’m not on his side. I’m not on his side.” Y/n’s eyes are locked dead into his as she continues, “But I sure as fuck won’t side with you.”

“You—you don’t agree with me?” Steve asks from where he stands diagonal to her, looking more lost than anyone with his intellect, who also happens to be cohabitating with the woman in question, should look.

“No,” she dismisses him without a second thought. Speaking to Tony again, she says, “You cannot actually expect me to—”

Steve chimes in once again, “Then why tell me to go find Bucky?” He runs an exhausted hand over his face.

“You told him to what now?” Tony asks, hands flying up.

“I never told you to find him. You were going to do it anyway, and there was no way of stopping you. I just told you to do it smartly—quietly. But that’s beside the point. I might not think that Sergeant Barnes blew up the UN but I never said I thought your benevolent stand on the Accords was logical,” she dismisses him again. Addressing Tony again, “And don’t you dare act surprised, like you didn’t think I’d—”

“I get to act however the fuck I want—”

Steve cuts off Tony’s protest, and in conjunction does the same to Y/n who was reeling up to meet him punch for punch. “You of all people—you don’t agree with me?”

Tony can hear the challenge in his voice. He knows well enough to know that this challenge just means he’s provoking her to get her attention.

Poor bastard, Tony thinks.

“Of course not, jackass! ‘The safest hands are still our own’?” He wanted her attention, he’s got all of it now. As she turns to face him now, Tony can see the steam flowing out of her ears. “Are you fucking losing it in your old age? The safest hands—?” She lets out the most condescending chuckle Tony’s ever heard. “You have any idea the kind of power we hold? Do you even have a small notion of the sheer magnitude of our power? And I don’t even mean your fucking heavy hitters like Vision, or Thor, or Wanda or—or me! No,” she shakes her head. “I mean fucking Hawkeye!” She exclaims. “Barton is capable of single-handedly taking down militias, mafias, criminal organizations overnight. And you know what that means? That means he can do the same goddamn thing to governments!” Her voice is raging. Tony remembers seeing a version of her like this a long time ago. It was in a courtroom when she was still a prosecutor. “That man, with a fucking bow and arrow can overthrow an entire government, especially in nations which don’t have stability. Nations where the government is a delicate balance managed by constant and relentless negotiations. He can bring down those establishments without breaking a fucking sweat!” Her arms are going wild.

“But he never would—” Steve tries.

She just laughs in his face. “He wouldn’t, is that it? You think he wouldn’t?”

Steve holds his ground. “No,” he states. “I know he wouldn’t.”

She looks at Tony and then back at Steve, a brutal smirk on her face, one which Tony knows leads to nothing but trouble. “You know how I know Barton’s capable of that shit, Steve? You know how I know? I know cause I fucking came up with it!” Oh fuck. “The plan that S.H.I.E.L.D. taught them was devised by me,” Tony remembers being terrified of the prosecutor-version of her sister. “And lemme tell you something else, Stevie boy.” The condescending tone is painful to witness. “There will come a day where Barton might just fucking use it and it will take a lot less than you think. You know how I know that?” Steve doesn’t answer so she does. “I know that because if you hurt Tony, and I don’t mean kill him, I mean just hurt him. Cause him pain, make him bleed, you hurt him, I would drop a building on you in a heartbeat and I will not have a single ounce of remorse for it.”

The pause that follows her statement is chilling.

No, seriously, Tony’s got fucking goosebumps. He’s not fucking around, and she sure as shit isn’t either.

But then, Steve, ever the fearless leader, counters. “Would you rather we give this kind of power away to someone else?”

Wrong question, Cap.

“This is not a discussion on nuclear deterrence, Steve. This is me calling for nuclear disarmament! I’m not saying Barton shouldn’t have that kind of power, I’m saying no one should!”

“But someone does,” Steve reasons.

“Yes, and you really think that doesn’t require oversight? You think when I call us nuclear it’s figurative? Cause it’s not Steve, we aren’t figuratively nuclear, we are literally nuclear,” she states with finality. “I don’t agree with a single line of the Accords because it’s a stupid fucking document that has nothing to do with public safety and everything to do with the privatization of superheroes, but do not confuse that with me being naive enough to think that we—that any of us are anything less than a constant threat to mankind—one bad day away from wreaking unforeseen devastation.”

“Then why not sign the Accords?” Tony finally decides to speak up. What? He went as long as he could without stealing the spotlight. He’s never been a fan of being a side character. “If you think we are capable of such—” he begins pacing, “destruction… why don’t you sign the damn thing?”

But what happens next kinda throws him off his game. Like way off. Because she relaxes. She is not a fiery red like she was when she was ripping Steve a new one, no. She’s calm and collected, like the Y/n he knows. And that kinda scares the shit out of Tony.

“Why are you trying to convince him to sign?” She asks, her head motioning towards Steve.

Tony folds his arms. “If he signs, we stay together. The Avengers stick together, instead of hunting each other down. We—we manage to do some good.”

She huffs. “What will that change?” She asks, sounding almost… annoyed. “What will change if you—a privileged white man gets him—Hitler’s wet fucking dream to sign the accords? What will that change? You think that will legitimize this somehow? That if Captain America signs the damn Accords it won’t be as heinous a document as it is right now?”

Tony wants to answer, but he isn’t given the chance.

“I am not like you, Tony. Not like him. What happens to people like us? The people who aren’t red-blooded American men?” With continued exasperation, she pulls a chair and sits on it. Like she’s taking a break, after a long day’s work. “Let’s put it this way,” she puts her feet on the table, one over the other. “Imagine if tomorrow, some sweet little second-generation immigrant Pakistani girl from I don’t know—Jersey City, let’s say—decides to become a superhero? You know, to defend her people, her small neighbourhood, her community. You make her sign the accords, and sign she does. But then there is a conflict in POK (Pakistan Occupied Kashmir)? There’s hundreds of people, begging for help, her people. But the UN—” she tsks. “—the UN decides what it always does, that they do not need to interfere. They decide that it isn’t a quarrel worth their democratic or military resources, let alone their Superheroic ones.” A beat. “What does she do then? Huh? Does she just sit there and take it? Does she just ignore the people asking for her help?” She clicks her fingers. “Better yet, what if there are hate crimes being committed in her neighbourhood, against her family, her aunty, her abbu or her bhai? What happens when the UN says that all that is too small-scale for her, beneath her? What does she do then?” With her elbow resting on the table, she begins creating small sparks around her fingers, rubbing them together, illuminating a soft pink glow.

“She can’t defy the accords, because unlike you, she doesn’t have the money or resources to get herself out of it. Neither does she have the undying allegiance of “the American people” that people seem to have for Cap over there, because she doesn’t look like him. She looks… different. So tell me, what does this little kid do?”

If he’s being honest, he doesn’t have a comeback to that. So Tony just stands there.

The sparks are gone and she stands too, faces him with her hands in her pockets, “I know I have a lot of privilege and power, and most of it is thanks to Peggy and Howard, and thankful I am. But there is absolutely no point in having this power if I don’t use it to do something worthwhile. To speak for little hypothetical kids like her. I may not be interested in being a hero but I’m not going to strip the chance away from others.”

“But like you said, this is hypothetical,” Tony tries. “The chances of this actually going down, what are they?” He takes a step towards her. “We can’t fight battles based on hypotheticals. And if you want to then, sure. Fine. What if Barton goes rogue tomorrow? You just said he could take down entire governments. So what then?”

Swinging her head from one side to the other, in mild agreement, “Yeah, maybe you’re right. Maybe there isn’t a point. But if Barton ever does go Darkside, we’ll be there to stop it regardless of the Accords. However, with the Accords, the chances that we get to bring him back to the light become lower.”

“If that is what you believe, how can you say you don’t agree with me?” Steve finally speaks up.

She lets out a frustrated grunt. “God. I don’t know how this isn’t getting through either of your thick heads!” She looks from one man to the other and then grunts again, “I am saying that these Accords suck. This one particular document is bad. It makes the individual reveal their identity to the public, which will cause a lot more harm than good for the ones who hide their identity to save the people closest to them. It grants the UN control over the missions we get to go on, taking away our autonomy. It’s an overall shit deal!”

Oh for fuck’s sake.

“We all have to make sacrifices, Y/n!” Tony shouts out. “But if it helps people, I for one, happen to think it’s worth it.”

“It’s not about sacrifices—”

He cuts her off, “Isn’t it? Because you say you want oversight but you oppose every restriction put on you. But I’m sorry to break it to you, Stark; this is what oversight looks like!”

“No it isn’t! This—this is just a leash around our neck, albeit a bedazzled one,” she exclaims and turns away in a frustrated huff, hands running through her hair.

Tony gets that at least. He’s frustrated too. Why can’t you see it?

But then she lets out a small laugh, but it sounds all wrong. It sounds exhausted and scornful. “You remember what you used to say about peace?” She turns to look at him now, a similar exhausted, scornful smile on her lips. “Howard did too. Do you remember it?”

Yes, he does.

Peace means having a bigger stick than the other guy.

But he stays quiet.

“Peace means having a bigger stick than the other guy,” she puts her hands back in her pockets, regaining composure. Then she clicks her tongue. “Well, we’re the biggest stick out there. Do you really think no one else will try to get a bigger one for themselves?”

“Then why not let the sticks decide?” Steve asks, head hung low, hands on his hips.

And suddenly she’s irritated again.

Tony has never seen Y/n be so… agitated before. It’s confusing him.

“Because the sticks are idiots. Sometimes they go all mad scientists and give birth to the next fucking Terminator,” she bites back. Say what you will, Ultron was way better than T1000. For one, he wasn’t fucking stupid. “Or they lose control over their hidden powers and open portals to other dimensions, ready to swallow the world whole.” Oooh. Yeah, that one was not fun. “And other times, they create absolute chaos on the streets of Bucharest to save their childhood best friend,” she says with a pointed look at her boyfriend.

Ouch, Tony thinks, that one’s gotta hurt.

“Even nuclear weapons are less threatening than us, cause at least they don’t have emotions,” she adds, her voice softer than before. She looks tired.

But then, Steve—ever the man to just… talk it out—says, “I don’t agree with Tony but, I don’t understand why you’re acting like we don’t know what we’re talking about? Like we’re kids, being stubborn?”

And that seems to be the straw that breaks the camel’s back. “Because you do know what you’re talking about!” It’s almost as if she blows up. “Steve, this much unchecked power? You know exactly what it is capable of.” But then she turns to Tony, “And fuck! Centralizing this much power?” She shrugs at her own rhetorical question. “Usually ends in fascism.”

Both of them begin to argue. Or try at least. She cuts them off before they can.

Throwing up her hands she says, “Look I don’t care. Believe what you wanna believe, fight for what you wanna fight. All I need is for both of you to be honest enough to admit that you’re doing this for you.” She points to Steve, “You don’t want to give up your freedom.” Then she points to Tony, “You don’t want to live with your guilt.” Running a frustrated hand over her face, she adds, “And I just want all of this to be over.” With that, she walks out.

– hobie thinks it's a little funny, honestly, how things turned out with you — the two of you are almost polar opposites, but you know what they say ; opposites attract, and you were his missing puzzle piece — hobie didn't like labels, but there was no denying that he certainly had a thing for you, and you couldn't deny that you liked him either, so you settled in middle ground.

– hobie has a knack to convincing you to do things you wouldn't usually do, like going out with him at three am on a supposed 'date' where he takes you to one of the city's highest rooftops with a couple of snacks and the radio playing your favourite songs, he likes to draw and often brings his sketchbook to those dates, so the two of you doodle on the pages, slapping stickers on them and creating a perpetual memory, and he thinks — actually, believes, that no matter what, he'd never forget you, and he has reached a conclusion that maybe, just maybe, he may be in love with you.

The Ancient Ancestor Of Alder Is...? A Theory

In Ancient Hisui, verses are scattered around, telling tales of an ancient hero.

"No claws nor fangs, no strength to claim— no man could hope to hold his own to mighty Pokémon.

"But bolts of light rained down one day, ten times they fell, ten times struck true upon ten Pokémon.

"Then to weak man did these ten turn, his strength to be, and all were blessed by loyal Pokémon.

"Were not these bolts a gift to man? Were they not your almighty grace, great Sinnoh, paragon?"

10 Pokemon seem to have surrounded the Hero at one point and, when all hope seemed lost, Great Sinnoh sent down bolts on the 10. These bolts seem to be the gift to this man as the 10 became his loyal companions for the days to come in what seems to be the battle for Celestica.

This Hero’s name is unknown to us, never seeming as anything more than an unnamed character for plot purposes. However, it is clear who it might be now as we continue forward.

In the image above, we see two. The ancient hero and a former leader of the Diamond Clan. Now, the DC leader seems to be Maxie from the Gen3 villain team, Team Magma. The Hero on the right looks a lot like Alder. Which okay, cool, Alder’s ancestor. So funny. I don’t think so though.

I think they’re the same man. It is just a bit too strange to me that the Hero ALSO has what appears to be Pokeballs around his neck. I think we have a Futurama case on our hands. Alder might very well be his own ancestor, given the circumstances.

This is given to the Player with information throughout the games but it’s much more than that.

There are only four cases of amnesia regarding Time/Space travel within the Pokemon universe. This is through one portal only but to go back, let’s review what we know about the game Legends: Arceus.

As we are aware, as the Player, we are sent on a mission trip from Poke-God! Arceus wants us to fix the troubles that are happening in Hisui, which may have been caused by Volo trying to play God himself. More on that in another post.

In the later update/DLC, Daybreak, the Player is given the option to say whether or not they do remember their past. I am among those who chose Yes but let me know what option you chose in the comments.

With this information, it could very well change the course of the Player’s life after all is said and done. As we are aware, the Player is actually stuck in Hisui for the rest of their life. There’s no ending that results in them going home and that doesn’t appear to ever be the case.

With this option, we are telling the universe that because Arceus guided us, we were granted safe passage through time.

With this in mind, I’m actually going to refer to my beloved Pokemon game series, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. In this game series, the Player is typically a human who was transformed into a Pokemon with no recollection of how that happened. In most cases, it is through the power of a legendary Pokemon! In the OG game, we’re never really given an explanation as to why the player was transformed other than, “It is your destiny to save us from disaster.” In Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky, however, we learn that in protecting the partner in the dark world from an attack from someone trying to stop these would-be heroes, the power actually caused the Player to transform while traveling back in time and lose memories.

However, in a twist of events, the Player’s former partner is revealed to have retained ALL memories, as is one of the antagonists in the story.

Traveling through Space/Time doesn’t cause memory loss. It has been shown numerous times.

However, there is one case in which protective gear needs to be worn or the results could be catastrophic.

Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to present to you, Ingo.

This train man (whom of which my friend and I have realized that every character associated with trains in someway or form in the Pokemon Universe has their sideburns cut to represent the train of their hyper fixation choice) is the key to figuring out how Alder is the ancient hero.

Ingo is said to have fallen into Hisui sometime before the Player has. He has no memory of his past beyond his name. As The Player travels a bit with him, allegedly having a chitchat with him, he remembers bits and pieces but they feel more foggy and out of reach. He even makes a quip in his dialogue on how Sneasler climbing up rocks is a hidden move of hers.

"What am I saying? Hidden moves? There are no such things in Hisui, surely... Yet I feel as though I was on the cusp of remembering something just now... Just who was I before I came to Hisui?”

It is clear that amnesia is a big factor in Ingo’s character, but not the Player. Again, in Daybreak, the option of the player admitting they remember their time before Hisui opens up this thought.

Ingo, my friends, is what is categorized as a Faller.

Going back to my earlier statement. There are only FOUR known cases of amnesia in the Pokemon series. Ingo is our most recent.

Another case would actually be two famous agents that are always here to help the player but more or less turns into the player helping them.

Looker and Anabel.

Looker is actually well known as the agent of Interpol who just can’t seem to catch a break, at least from the perspective of the Player. While he is a well-established man, he kinda has a comedic effect to him throughout the story, disguising himself as Team Galactic grunts, struggling to speak other languages to people who genuinely are asking him for help, and constantly begging to get food after a completed mission but then seconds later disaster strikes in the Alola region. Kind of hilarious actually. It made me love his character more in the anime series.

Looker in ORAS is actually found on the beach with no memory. Nothing but an Audinite. This is very strange so let’s look at Anabel.

In Sun/Moon, we meet Anabel, who is an agent of Interpol. She is an ally of Looker and Nanu, The Cat Man from Alola. That we are aware of Anabel met Looker and Nanu after falling onto a beach with no memory. In the battles we see her in with this, we learn that her partner is an Audino. Strange.

Anabel was actually found by Looker and Nanu shortly after a young woman, another Faller, had died due to Interpol using this woman as bait for Ultra Beasts.

So, what is a Faller? Well, it’s someone that fell through an Ultra Wormhole. These Fallers are found by Interpol to effectively lure in these beasts which are practically interdimensional aliens. I mean, look at Buzzwole and Guzzlord! If you told me those were Pokemon as a nonPokemon fan, I’d think you’re confusing them with Digimon somehow! They legit just look like Digimon. Not hating actually. I love them; Buzzwole is my king and I love him in my old fighting type deck I had before SM era GX cards got banned.

But then, who is the fourth case? That, is Lillie’s father.

In the Alola series of games, Lusamine is effectively the villain, having opened wormholes to try and gain some semblance of happiness. It seems to be more in response to her husband having gone missing. We learn in the postgame that he has no memories. He actually visits Aether Paradise and introduces himself. Lusamine just sort of accepts that he’s forgotten her and found a happy life and only bids him a farewell in the end. It’s kinda sad really.

It almost makes me prefer the anime version better.

Actually no. It’s still weird.

Four cases in which Fallers exist in the Pokemon universe. In the games, the Player actually gets to travel via wormhole. How? Specialized suits that are meant to protect the Player.

With Ingo’s body worse for wear upon falling into Hisui, I can only come to one conclusion. Alder is his own ancestor, and he was with Ingo when the wormhole opened up.

Alder went back further and when faced with the hardships of Hisui, became a hero. He faced Pokemon in a way one could only imagine, given the guy’s personality overall.

"The great unknowable approved this feat, and to its domain of no place returned."

It’s clear Alder made an impact on the people of Hisui, given how he is honored in the homes of clan leaders.

With that in mind, is there a possibility of him having influenced the first designs of Pokeballs? I mean, what better way to honor the hero than to try and make these strange balls he had on him that seemed to have some strange power in them! This question will likely remain unanswered for the years to come.

Unless Dialga gets mad and goes Primal Dialga on us and we have to go into the past in order to protect the sunrise, but that’d be crazy.

oh boy howdy i have been waiting to hear these words all my life

i promise you are not pestering me at all bdjfjdjfks i am frothing at the MOUTH at the opportunity to talk about this damn thing lol. this stupid playlist is my magnum opus my baby i have spent like 2 hours meticulously organizing it yes im normal why do you ask

the hunter playlist in question for everyone else

the playlist's structure is generally meant to follow hunter's growth as a person, starting from pre-canon childhood to the present, and is at times loosely based on the five stages of grief. (this "grief" being the revelation that his entire life has been a lie.) to split it into sections, the first 20 songs are meant to catalogue hunter's experience being raised by belos and rise to the position of the golden guard. 21-27 is his gradually expanding worldview through hunting palismen to any sport in a storm, after he meets flapjack and the hexsquad and starts slowly questioning his beliefs. 28-42 is hollow mind and the direct fallout of that—with 33-45 centering around the "anger" stage of grief—and 43-48 is his feelings between labyrinth runners and king's tide. 49-58 is firmly in the "depression" stage, with everything after 59 being when he reaches acceptance and is able to truly start to recover.

putting this under a cut because i swear it is longer than the damn bible, but below you will find a more in-depth song-by-song breakdown. never underestimate the power of a very exhausted college student who drank too much soda's ability to think about one particular fictional character ig.

to start, i put dear wormwood at the very beginning to act as a sort of "prologue" to the playlist and set the stage for what's to come, and also because it is THE Hunter Song(tm) and i need to make sure everyone knows it. that song has had a flashing neon sign with hunter’s name on it in my brain since eclipse lake at least.

bumblebees are out, because it's so short and blatantly "oh this is hunter and belos", acts as a clear divider between dear wormwood and the rest of the playlist, with fish in a birdcage being the official "start" to the narrative. this song and helplessness blues after it then act to sort of sum up hunter's general feelings growing up isolated in the coven.

english house through you're a useless child (君はできない子) is actually from belos's perspective indoctrinating him, and then love me love me love me (愛して愛して愛して) onward is back to hunter. the next several songs detail hunter's experience as the golden guard. life itself is a recent addition mostly just there for vibes and because the first verse fits lol (thanks skit) and honey i'm home and saint bernard are the two obligatory Religious Trauma Bops i hope to make animatics for eventually. icarus (Bird Symbolism #1) through stonewall stone fence is meant to be from the perspective of an outsider looking in (aka the audience) and going "oh this kid is Not Well" it is Necessary. (silhouettes particularly fucks me up lol i need to make a dadrius playlist)

with that all being said there beneath is where his character arc in the show proper actually kicks in. it acts as a divider between the prior songs to say "oh he is Thinking about Things." [insert that shot of him looking out his window at the end of hunting palismen] the songs from notos don't really fit in chronologically—torches would actually fit better earlier, and the other two later—but they flowed better here lol. bad blood is mostly vibes i don't even remember why it's in there, something something it being about god creating man paralleling belos creating the grimwalkers, but i like it too much to take it off lmao. this section is basically all of hunter's beliefs slowly slowly starting to crack throughout his Field Trips With The Good Guys.

uso janai is where shit gets Real; this one is actually from luz's perspective after half-befriending hunter in hunting palismen and then wanting to get him away from belos after You Know. escapism is back to hunter—more questioning, and the line "i'd rather be free" calling back to his desire to choose his own future—before shit goes down.

pale white horse and where is your rider happen specifically during the confrontation with belos in hollow mind. the actual songs are about uhhh,, an abuse victim being approached by the personification of death itself (when the other three horsemen failed to rattle them) and being scared shitless before realizing death had been their abuser disguised the entire time which fits with. well the last 5 minutes of the episode.

the next songs until around whisper encompass the time between hollow mind and labyrinth runners where hunter is alone to process things. the extra oh hellos songs there are him thinking back on his life and all the harm he'd caused working under belos as everything is recontextualized. (plus passerine has that extra bird symbolism fuck yeah)

(if you think there's a lot of the oh hellos in this beast oh my god. i think i had to physically restrain myself from adding like 70% of their entire discography at first im pretty sure the entirety of dear wormwood was on there for a little bit. it's all hunter. i am deranged.)

from this point onward starting with james picard, the playlist structure really kicks into the 5 stages of grief high gear, with everything before pale white horse generally being denial and these next several songs shifting into anger. this section until time to move on is what i like to call hunter's Religious Trauma Breakdown Arc where he's just thinking things through and gradually becoming angrier and angrier at the universe as it all sets in no im not projecting

(also i should note that the order from here on is a little fucky and songs are mostly chosen by what flows best sound-wise; if we're going just by lyrics it'd be something like where is your rider > the garden > dear god > let it burn > dream with everything else tacked on afterward)

sweet sacrifice specifically gives me mad "angry at your shitty parent for years of Nonsense" vibes no im not projecting and obsolete is. bro come on just listen to the lyrics. "you bring me back to life so you can watch me die" it's out of my hands at this point bsjfkfkd

the Our Last Night Trifecta is meant to be hunter's thoughts upon realizing he's effectively out of the coven after labyrinth runners. sunrise would actually fit better lower in the playlist but i wanted to keep them together in order for the flow bshfksk. lie to me is the Oh He Has Friends To Help Him Through This song and more than this stands as hunter and the hexsquad both vowing to protect each other from belos,, ,, oh he has friends to help him through this,,,,,, arsonist's lullaby is there to sort of say "you're not outta the woods yet kiddo" but it's also mostly there because. philip notably has a fire motif going on with him and im a huge slut for symbolism X)

starting with bird song, we have officially entered Hunter's Depression Era after king's tide. bird song is mostly there because Oops! All Bird Symbolism. the moon will sing grabbed me by the throat with Sad Boy Vibes it's sort of there as a retrospective "wow that whole thing was fucked up" on hunter's part, and unraveling is literally only there because the first verse reminded me of darius but it's got that post-hollow mind "shit ive lost literally everything" feel going for it so in it goes. lyrically these both fit better during the initial anger pain spiral (around where the garden is) but again, flow.

(note that ive barely touched this section moving forward since thanks to them so the songs here are a lot more vague, predictive Being Sad And Healing type shit; i will probably do an overhaul after season 3 is over and his canon character arc is actually complete. i havent added anything with the events of thanks to them in mind because i don't want to disrupt the flow i have, however i am actually planning to add who am i by cami-cat eventually; it gives off MASSIVE post-hollow mind hunter and luz vibes)

welcome home, son gives off a very specific emotion i cannot describe you're just gonna have to trust me on why it's there but let the river in is peak "lmao fuck my dad" energy he needs this . uneven odds is more vibes (+ camila going is anyone gonna parent this and not waiting for a response) but you understand right. He Needs This.

lost in paradise sort of represents a low point during the timeskip in thanks to them; that lingering feeling of "everything is (comparatively) fine now so why can't i be happy and feel like i deserve to be" that will no doubt be haunting him for years. glow is straight-up about grief and i put it there initially looking at it from a "healing from non death-related trauma" angle but after uh. You Know. i am seeing it differently,,,, kokoronashi + can i believe you build off of the thing i said about lost in paradise with that "why can't i feel like i deserve to be happy" thing plus my favorite, "feeling inherently unlovable what do you even see in me."

eight through soap is him clawing out of that mindset and deciding maybe kindness and trust is Good, Actually (said through tears). love like you is love like you and wanderer's lullaby is Me Specifically reaching into the screen and giving him a hug /j (it's actually his like 5 parental figures telling him they love him <3 i have a lot of feelings about this song okay) the author once again plays off hunter's desire to choose his own future with him finally being allowed to do so, and ready now is exactly what it says on the tin. that he's going to be okay.

finally, FINALLY, thus always to tyrants finishes things off with a bookend to dear wormwood. this song ends the dear wormwood album with the victim staying firm in their decision to leave their abuser with a hope that they become a better person someday; hunter is now on the road to recovery away from belos, closing up his character arc while still leaving the path ahead relatively open-ended. (i chose make this one last since it feels less "final" than the prior two songs—signaling that his journey is far from over—and, y'know, bookending.)

Catching up on "My Adventures With Superman"

I've been watching this one but doing it in the stints thing where I take a break for a couple weeks and then binge a few episodes at once. Just did one of those to catch up to the present and thought I'd share my reactions to the latest episode... seeing as it features my favorite of all of Superman's villains: the illustrious Mr. Mxyzptlk.

I know I'm Super late on this (ha), given that this is six episodes in, but I think I'll just give my thoughts on the two-parters coming up as they come/conclude and then my final thoughts on the show as a whole when its over. You can already get a bit of that towards the end of this, though. Episode 6: "Kiss, Kiss, Fall in Portal." So, this one reminded me of Spider-Verse. Not the movie. The original comic. And not in a good way. It has that same "we'll introduce the multiverse to give every bit of continuity ever made an established place so that we can homage everything... but actually devalue everything by forcing it to fit into a very rigid and contrived paradigm" feel.

For a while I've been starting to think the people who make this show don't actually see Superman's world and characters as especially interesting, which is why they've mostly been turning them into imitations of other things. The Legion of Lois'es, especially, really brought that feeling out: so the ultimate evolution of every prominent Lois Lane in every previous Superman property we've ever seen is... to cease to be Lois Lane and become Flash Gordon instead? It's such a jarring contrast for the primary Lois in this series to be someone whose main motivation is to become a reporter and help people by getting answers, only for the show to say "once you become the best you can be you won't even need to be a reporter anymore - then you'll be a cool sci-fi hero and do cool sci-fi hero stuff!" - and it then feels like Lois feeling insecure falls flat because none of these characters even do the things she or any other Lois we've ever seen cares about. I think it mostly hit me this way because this doesn't really get a resolution. The characters give the Multiverse Police the slip (which I do love, see below), but there isn't really a "I'm going to be the best I am because that's who I am, not what you think I'm worth" moment from Lois. She (and thus, the show) just kind of internalizes it.

I might be being harsh on it, I think. But it's comes off an idea that was intended as a homage on paper but ceased to work as one in execution - and instead maybe felt a bit like the opposite. On top of that "we love these characters and put them on a pedestal through nostalgia, so what if characters in-universe actually had the same reactions to those same characters and treated them the same way" is pretty much an idea I've never seen work out - it always just ends up turning characters into reflections of fan reactions, instead of allowing them to be... well... characters.

I'm explicitly not getting into the Clark implications, firstly because everyone overreacts the hell out any time an evil Clark or Clark-like character shows up in anything these days, second because the issues with the concept are evident even before Clark comes into it, and third because - due to the first - I think people are focusing too much on Clark specifically and not enough on how the concept as a whole wasn't great to characters involved (except Jimmy / Jalana because this show's versions of any Olsen continue to be a treasure).

And fourth because the "the characters discover some versions of their friend went bad" does actually line perfectly well up with the season's overall plot about Lois' dad being a paranoid nutter, but the Kryptonians maybe being evil and Clark being an unclear cog in the gears of this strange mystery. It's a plot decision I really liked in this show: I'm suspecting we might end up with something Iron Giant-esque, where all evidence points to the hero being a monster, but the hero refuses to fall into expectation as their friends refuse to fall victim to the fearmongering.

But... overall, all that is why I really liked how the main characters' ultimate response to the judgmental multiversal police squad was a "screw you guys, we're going home" without even a goodbye. Screw that noise. Presumably the Lois'es from other continuities who pointedly aren't among the Lois'es actually in the judgmental multiverse police squad did something similar. Live your life as yourself. Good message, though I think show could've been more overt about delivering it.

On the flipside, Mxy was fun. He was a tread to Lois & Clark's "more malevolent Mxy who wants to be a god" idea, which is... hate to repeat myself... fun. But being fun it what's most important where Mxy is concerned. It's a little less interesting to have a Mxy who needs power because he wants to be a god vs a Mxy who already has power and finds concepts like godhood boring, but I don't think traditional Mxy is in line with how this show envisions threats, and regardless he was delightfully tricky and - let's face it - is one of the two big things absolutely carrying the episode (the other being Clark and Lois' relationship, as usual).

All in all, the show continues to hit me two ways at once: I really love the way it's interpreting the characters and their relationships - again, Jimmy is fantastic and Lois and Clark's relationship is nuanced, adorable and continually keeps me invested - but the plot decisions that surround those great characterizations keep missing, often feeling like they're wasting good concepts.

I hope I'm wrong about the feeling I'm getting that the writers maybe have some overall apathy for Superman's world and characters, but bit by bit the show keeps making me wonder - I just wish the show would start feeling excited to reinterpret these characters rather than flippant.

Either way, though, fun episode. More Mxy is always a treasure.
