🪦: to visit a haunted house with my muse!

Taking his kid to Coney Island was practically a rite of passage, but Bucky could admit he had doubts about the haunted house. He knew nothing in there was real. He was pretty sure Kobik knew nothing in there was real, although for all her power he wasn't always clear on her real-world experience. But taking a couple of trauma survivors into a place where the entire purpose was to have things that didn't look human jump out at them seemed questionable at best. Somebody was bound to get hurt, and it probably wouldn't be one of them. At least it was a ride and not a walk-through, so the odds of anyone getting close enough to touch them were small.

He was also a hopeless pushover when it came to her. Maybe Bucky always would have been the kind of dad who spoiled his kids silly, but he couldn't help wanting to make up for all the things she'd never gotten to have as a weapon in Hydra's arsenal. "You sure you wanna?" His grin was teasing as they looked up at the black dragon draped over the roof, a grinning animatronic skeleton greeting them from the ticket booth. Bucky had stepped back to let her run this show today, choosing the rides and games and food. He was just there to make sure she had the time of her life.

Suburban Dad Sunday idea: Bucky going about his day with his toddler following him about and copying him <3 😊 He's fixing up his bike so his mini-me tries to do the same with their push-car or he's doing washing and the kid keeps handing Bucky things to put in!(And, as a bonus, when he's chatting with Steve the kid keeps babbling at the same time as him - putting a hand over his mouth because it's their turn to talk to Uncle Steve 🥰)

Bucky first notices Kobik copying him when he's outside working on his car.

He's muttering to himself while messing around with the battery

Suddenly he notices the 4 year old roll up beside him in her little barbie car and hurries out with a giggle as she pretends to pop the hood open.

"Whatcha doing, Little Soldier?" He asks amused as she plays with her toy tools.

"I'm working on my car like you!" She beams up at him before going back to her very hard work.

Another time, he's doing the dishes and as he's humming Kobik pops up next to him.

"Daaaaad can I help?" She makes grabby hands for the towel and Bucky nods,

"Sure kiddo but be extra careful. These are mom's good plates."

She nods and veeeeerry carefully dries the plates off and then uses her powers to float them up to the cabinet.

That makes Bucky chuckle and he goes back to washing, singing idly to himself.

And he hears Kobik singing along- or at least trying to, as she doesn't really know the words but it's to the same beat! She's trying!

The last time, just the other day, Steve came by to visit. Which was one of Kobik's favorite things.

She loved Uncle Steve almost as much as her Buckaroo.

Steve and Bucky sit in the living room, sipping on beer as they chat when, once again, Kobik comes by.

At first she's just sitting on the floor and playing with her Legos but then she starts copying Bucky.

"And that's when I finally stopped-"

"I finally stopped-"

He blinks and looks at Kobik and then at Steve who's holding back a laugh, and Bucky shakes his head and continues."

"Anyway, he came in and-"

"He came in and-"

"Kobik why are you-?"

"Kobik why-"

And by now she's giggling and standing up, while Bucky puts on a grumpy face but inside he's cracking up along with them.

"You little stink-" suddenly he's muffled by Kobik's little hands on his mouth, and Steve cackles as Kobik takes over the story!

This was a long road, and now finally came to an end and closer to his happily ever after with Clint. While on a mission, a little girl named Kobik was found. Turns out she was the Cosmic Cube that had became sentient- an all powerful and God-like little girl who was under the guidance of some very bad people.

Thankfully that situation got handled and all that was left was Kobik. There was a lot of talk about what to do with her, most of which Bucky didn't agree with.

Bucky saw a lot of himself in the little girl. Being manipulated to do the wrong thing, turned into a weapon of mass destruction. Being treated like something evil. Bucky was better than that, and so was Kobik. Yes she was powerful, more powerful than any super hero he has come across up until then. But she was also just a little girl who wanted to be loved.

He and Clint had a long discussion. Bucky had little sisters he used to take care of, but it was nothing compared to this. Still, the men decided to adopt Kobik much to Bucky's delight. It was a long process for everyone to prove their ability to handle this, and while waiting they set her up a bedroom and play area. Even a little swing set for outside. It was all very exciting.

And today they were bringing Kobik home. Bucky looked over at Clint as they drove to where Kobik was being held. "Pretty crazy, huh?"

Because you se get the idea of interior design I'm going for. Not what Bucky or Nat would actually have at home but what would be fun for me to draw for them to have :D So yeah I doubt they would have soviet posters but I'm so going to find some stupid ass poster and redraw it. Well maybe not strictly soviet but something more local.

Kobik had been settling nicely into her new home with her new family. They had a good routine and someone was always with Kobik. Her new parents were very busy usually, but with Natasha being pregnant things had slowed down a little.

Today was one of those slow days. Bucky and Clint were taking Kobik to the zoo, which she was very excited about. The girl loved learning about animals in the books she had and was absolutely obsessed with Lucky, Alpine, Liho and Winnie. She was told that there would be many different kinds of animals there, animals that came from all over the world.

Kobik sat at the table, munching away on her breakfast as she watched Bluey on the TV. She kicked her feet excitedly and looked over at Bucky.

"Do ya think we'll see white tigers? I like those a lot."

I played around on Hero Forge and made my guys! I tried to make them as accurate as I could, but some turned out better than others (for instance I don't love RJ's HYDRA one, and Kobik's HYDRA one is supposed to look like a hospital gown but oh well), either way it was still fun! I did a Bucky one too but like. Y'all already know what Bucky looks like, and also Tumblr's stupid 10 picture limit is a thing.

This is a sideblog, and I follow back from my main @grimmusings. Please direct IMs there, since it's easier for me to keep all my messages on one blog. It's also easier to start interactions with me there, where I regularly post open starters and meme prompts. For a full list of rules, see my main. Honesty hour questions will largely be answered IC and treated as anonymous unless signed by a muse.

In general, I follow an MCU timeline with Steve and mix in comics connections/plots as needed, unless specified in an AU verse. All details vary based on verse, and I'm happy to write him into AUs and fandom crossovers. However, I do not include Endgame/Old!Steve in any of my interpretations unless it's a fix-it verse. Regardless of verse, I pretty much always include Steve's Remender comics backstory of an abusive, alcoholic father, but I default on his MCU history with Bucky and transformation into Captain America.

This is by no means a comprehensive list, and I can roll with most muses as far as basic interactions. I'm happy to ship Steve with other Marvel characters and OCs/fandom crossovers based on chemistry, but unless they're on my OTP list, they need plotting and interaction first. There is never any pressure to ship with me, even if they're on my list.

mcu: An MCU verse with any events taking place after Steve comes out of the ice, usually divergent from the above timelines.

alt!postblip: A post-Endgame canon-divergent MCU verse where Steve passes the shield on to Sam and stays in the current timeline like a character who didn’t just undo 3+ movies of development. He’s there to help Bucky and Sam re-adjust to the world post-blip and learn the ropes on being Cap.

616: A mix of 616 and headcanons, typically written for comics muses who don't acknowledge things like the MCU Civil War or Thanos. It may reference other comics events, like the time Steve spent in Kobik's mindscape with Red Skull controlling his body.

multiverse!madness: Various comics universes collide, whether Marvel/DC/etc. have always existed on the same Earth, or other-dimension shenanigans are at work. Duplicate friendly!

castaway: An MCU/616 mashup where the events of Castaway in Dimension Z happen two and a half years into the Blip. dark!hydraworld: A comics AU set in Earth-85826, where fascist dictator Arnim Zola rules the world with Hydra. While the real Steve Rogers leads an underground resistance, Hydra is unable to isolate and replicate the serum from his DNA and instead creates a clone. earth-3490: A blip comics universe where Steve is married to Natasha Stark (Iron Woman). When he discovers the Winter Soldier file, he takes it to his wife, she has time to adjust to the idea, and the Avengers’ Civil War never happens.

hydra!world: A comics universe set in Earth-85826, where fascist dictator Arnim Zola rules the world with Hydra. Steve Rogers leads an underground resistance alongside the Avengers and his kids, Ian and Ellie Rogers.

⭐ Ellie Rogers + Ana Barnes: In her main verse, Ellie was raised in Hydra!world where Armin Zola had taken over, and her parents and most of the Avengers were killed in the underground resistance. She hops dimensions a bit before she ends up in 616, but I feel like warrior girls raised in hell would have some things in common (plus Steve and Bucky's kids are practically destined to be friends, right?).

⭐ Elektra Natchios + Natasha Romanoff: I've never written her against a Nat before, but I know they have some antagonism in the comics, so I don't know if that would be the best friendship waiting to happen or an absolute disaster, but I'm here for it. 😂 Personally, I think Elektra would be having major do I kill her or kiss her conflict.

⭐ Bucky Barnes/Steve Rogers + Kobik: HI I'M SO EXCITED YOU ADDED KOBIK I ADORE HER. Bucky goes full-on Dad mode with her, and I'd love anything with them, from Winter Soldier days to happy reunions later on or straight-up raising his kid AU. I also have some verses for Steve where I include their history and he remembers being stuck in her mindscape while Red Skull had control of him. He's Steve though, so he'd be very forgiving about it, and I think he regrets that she erased herself at the end of it all.
