The Three Final Acts
A look into the magic show in the title sequence pt.1
We start outside the theatre and we see a giant turnip in the background and it is raining rabbits which are two tricks that are used as opening acts and then we get our first finale act - sawing in half - all before we even enter the theatre - almost like these are the acts that are setting the stage for what we are about to see - and when we enter we get two more big show stoppers - the bullet catch and the wheel of death with a bunch of cameras watching that weren't outside the theatre
So in that short sequence we get three big magic tricks that all have a common theme of a risk of death and an intense level of trust involved
But we only get the bullet catch this season so where do the other two come in? I think it is meant to show one for each season - so let’s get into it
Season one - sawing in half
Tumblr media
Now you are going to have to hear me out for this one because while we do get magic tricks in this season (ex: the card/baby swap and aziraphale's show) this act is obviously not one of them so lets look at the basics of what this trick is - you have a big sharp cutting thing used to separate a person’s legs from the rest of their body, it is a major level of trust of the other person to do their part and a lot of tension that someone could get hurt - this narrow downs which scenes would be appropriate and think I've concluded it's at the airbase when Crowley collapses as Satan is coming and Aziraphale picks up his sword and tells Crowley to do something or he will never talk to him again
Tumblr media
Have I lost you? Understandable it’s a bit of a stretch but it does have all the elements - Aziraphale with his sword (big sharp cutting thing) Crowley without his legs and the tension is similar to the bullet catch both of the to afraid to hurt the other - also in the title sequence the "cameras" are not watching this trick - it's under the radar - a surprise act - just like they have been till this day.
Season two - bullet catch
Tumblr media
This one is pretty obvious with the actual act in a flashback and it is such a great scene truly - the tension, the vulnerability, the trust -just everything about it amazing - but we can't ignore the parallels in the final 15 and that’s what is mainly important. You have the iconic "aim for my mouth shoot but shoot past my ear” line that is a parallel to the kiss. You have the tension and vulnerability that feel the same and on some level the trust too. But also in the title sequence the audience is full of cameras which could just be a nod to furfur but if it is meant to parallel the final 15 that would imply they were being watched - I’m looking at you Metatron. In all these moments so far it has been Crowley that has been doing the thing - the gunfire, the kissing, the time stopping, the fall - while Aziraphale has been setting the stage, doing the pushing - truly a musician and his assistant
Season three - the wheel of death
Tumblr media
Now for what started this whole thing - the last finale act we see in the title sequences - a three person act for our duo - to stay on theme with the rest of the acts it will parallel a big final moment that is putting them and their relationship on the line and we can only speculate on how - but I will explain how the trick works before this ends. So as mentioned before you need three people to pull this off - the knife thrower who does a slight of hand trick to put the knives in their pocket instead of throwing, the target who is strapped to the wheel, and a person behind the wheel who is actually in charge of getting the knives on the target by pulling and releasing knives through hidden gaps on the wheel perfectly in sync with the thrower to make it look realistic or you can just watch a video here
what this all means?
With all these acts you can see some pretty consistent themes and how they can parallel pivotal moments for Aziraphale and Crowley. Just know this next act is truly going to be their biggest and all eyes are on them - who will they bring in to help

ohhh my god I’m looking at all these sex toys for this fic and saw this like pleasure tape that you can use for a lotta stuff and????? thinking about being a brat to gojo and acting like nothing he does is enough for you and he gets a little fed up about being sooo under appreciated!!!
so he lays you out on the bed and goes to work with the tape. tapes your mouth shut and your wrists together. tapes your tits so they sit up nice and perky for him to nip and lick at whenever he damn so pleases. then moves down between your legs, shushes you with condescending coos when you wiggle and plead through the tape for him to let you up, even though you’re wetter than he thinks he’s ever seen you.
and he tapes your cunt from top to bottom, despite your little hiccuping moans about how mean he is to you. at least, that’s what it sounds like, but for that, he still flips you over to tape your asshole too, biting at the flesh when you groan.
and then he leaves you there, wiggling and moaning and looking so pretty for him like this. tied up and teary eyed, and when you beg through the tape to be freed, only then does he feel a little more appreciated because you need him. that’s all he’s ever wanted from you.

Been relistening to How to Train Your Dragon, and something I’ve noticed is:
Hiccup chooses his fate.
Like, I absolutely love the whole fate is ruling Hiccup’s life - playing games with him - I mean he is a walking “lost things magnet” to quote the witch. He seems destined to be king because there are so many signs - the blue snow, the swimming race, speaking dragonese, the dragon mark, the list goes on.
But. (And I only spotted this now) In the very beginning, when Gobber sends the boys in to steal a baby hunting dragon, the first dragon Hiccup ever has to train, he picks out one. He gets a nice easy basic brown (Horracow) and he probably would have been very happy with her. She’s obedient, holds similar non-violent beliefs as him, and would have been easy to train. He could have had a fairly ordinary life with her, nothing impressive but he’d have lived.
But Fishlegs didn’t get a dragon.
Fishlegs would have been banished from the tribe had Hiccup not decided to disobey the ‘only the strong can belong’ mentality and given up his dragon. Because he gives Fishlegs his dragon, Hiccup chooses Toothless. And Toothless. Toothless is the key to everything. Literally. *Looks hard at the lobster claw*
The point is, that because Hiccup chooses compassion over self preservation, he chooses to become king the wilderwest. He would rather do a hard thing, like find another dragon, than let his friend suffer. He would rather pick a dangerous adventure over those he’s responsible for, who he cares about, getting hurt. And that’s why, again and again, he always pick the path toward being king.
It’s the same when he saves Fishlegs by claiming he wrote the letter to Tantrum, and in the quest for the potato, and, finally, in how he defeats his father in the flashburn duel. Because dragons are people he cares about.
Yes, Fate chooses Hiccup, but only because Hiccup chose Fate first.

The most wierd, but also pretty amazing, thing in season 2 was that they never show us Jang Uk ever calling Yeong, "Bu Yeon".
Like ofcourse where she's mentioned in a conversation or when he's referring to her in 3rd person he says 'Jin Bu Yeon'. But he never actually calls her that. Most of the he refers to her as "I salam"/"ku salam" which literally translates to 'this person'/'that person'. Given that Korean is a mostly genderless language, it translates to 'her'.
And even when he's talking to her, he just says "Ya" and "Neo". They never show him ever call her "Bu Yeon-ah".
While it is pretty wierd, I personally think that it's actually great.
What's even better is that Jang Uk calls Yeong "Buin" now. While it was a very big missed opportunity to not make Jang Uk call her "Yeong-ah" even once, (when you can practically fill a book with how many times he said "Mudeok-ah" in s1) it's very clear why "buin" is used.
Because ofcourse he can't call her Yeong in public. And I'm pretty sure both of them are completely against him calling her "Bu Yeon", when he didn't even do that when he thought she was Jin Bu Yeon. So naturally they had to come up with some sort of term of endearment that he could refer to her by. Hence, Buin. And like she keeps calling him Seobangnim, he keeps calling her Buin. And that's become their normal now.
P.S. I was thinking what would happen if Kim Dojoo insisted on them having another wedding celebration. Because remember she was already preparing for one even though both Uk and Yeong insisted that they were married. Kim Dojoo wanted him to have a very big, public ceremony. And I'm sure she would have wanted another one because she wasn't present at his wedding. And I'm sure Jang Uk would have been vehemently against it. Because in a public ceremony he would have to get married to 'Jin Bu Yeon'. Just imagine the argument between them both. 😅

When Damian first came to live with his father in Gotham, he refused to adopt the name Wayne for years. Damian for a long time would deny that Bruce Wayne was his father. When the batfamily would ask him why, he'd explain that he is the son of Batman, not Bruce Wayne.

So thus far into TOTK (I haven't finished the game, but I got the instruction to go beat the final boss), it really does seem like TOTK and BOTW are completely separate lore-wise from most every other game in the series except for maybe Skyward Sword. Zelda travels all the way back to Hyrule's "founding," which she is fairly familiar with, and there's a comment one of the researchers makes about mentions of a "Zelda" in the ancient past confirming that perhaps the name doesn't originate from their princess. He's unaware it's the same Zelda, which means naming every princess of Hyrule "Zelda" is not a thing. This Zelda is, as far as she knows, the first (though that doesn't eliminate the chance others existed).
This (and some other stuff) leads me to believe that the founding of Hyrule in TOTK takes place after all the old games. I highly doubt that all historical records of the name Zelda would have completely disappeared between the ancient past of TOTK and TOTK's present if that space was occupied by all the other games. And that is ignoring the weird time stuff and the required presence of two Ganondorfs simultaneously. On top of that, Sonia, the only Hylian we see much of in the past, resembles Skyward Sword's Impa more than Zelda and Gaepora. We don't know for sure that that Zelda founded Hyrule, but the reincarnated spirit of Hylia is blood-related. So I'm solidly shunting aside the idea that this is the first founding of Hyrule.
Now because the name Zelda has apparently been forgotten, even by TOTK's ancient past (Rauru and Sonia don't exactly go "Oh! Zelda! That's a famous name"), and no one seems aware that Hyrule existed before, I'm going to say that pre (or post...) the arrival of the Zonai, Hyrule goes through something like a Dark Age. Their history is no longer preserved and retold like in older games, and so eventually, you end up in a place where there is no Hyrule, and no one knows about the Triforce and the cycle. But that's really odd, right? Like, scarily odd. How do you forget the Triforce exists? It's the big war-causer in Hyrule's history, this thing that grants you the power to completely remake the world. And no knowledge of Zelda or Link or Ganon? No knowledge of the epic cycle? Clearly Zelda is still inheriting the memories of her prior reincarnations since she recognizes the name "Ganondorf" in a flashback, so what gives?
It seems awfully convenient that no one knows about the Triforce, especially since there's evidence Zelda carries it. The symbol shows up when she uses her sealing powers, and it's definitely still associated with the royal family's crest. Now the second part is really weird since we're at a second founding of Hyrule and no one seems to know what it is. But just focusing on Zelda's powers: for the Triforce to be the source of them, that would have to mean it somehow ended up in Zelda's bloodline. How would it do that?
They mention that she seems to have inherited Rauru's light power and Sonia's time power (which implies they had kids, I know people are skeptical and I am too, but it seems like they did). So, does Rauru's power also derive from the Triforce? Did she get it from him?
Well if he did have it, founding a Hyrule where no one remembers the Triforce, the cycle, or old Hyrule would be much easier.
There's a lot of problems with this theory: namely, Rauru isn't technically dead (I think) until the beginning of TOTK, so wouldn't the Triforce have stayed with him that entire time if he had it? But there's also evidence in the games that the Triforce is a one-use kind of thing, so I can see him getting one shot with it and then passing it along via bloodline like a lot of Zeldas have done with the Triforce of Wisdom. Something about Rauru strikes me as very sinister, and some other people have done a really good job looking at that in more detail (check out @golvio and @betterbemeta's posts), but yeah the vibe of Rauru's inner circle and his Hyrule overall is strange. The representatives of all four races (though we never see the Sheikah in the past, so we can't verify what's going on with them at this point; they might not be Hylians yet) cover their faces with these large, clearly Zonai masks to signal their fealty to Rauru. Practically, they serve the same purpose as the champions' blue clothes, but it's so much more uncomfortable. They don't have faces! They aren't individuals! The only people in the past whose faces we see (who aren't Sonia, Rauru, Zelda, or Mineru because even the ancient Hylians in Rauru's employ wear masks) is Ganondorf and some of his Gerudo. Rauru, Sonia, and the royal line get to walk uncovered, but everyone else depicted as loyal and righteous is faceless.
So I would hazard that the reason BOTW and TOTK are so cut off from the other games lore-wise is not just distance, but because Rauru, when he came down to become king, used the Triforce to completely reforge Hyrule in his own image. It's possible he was told to do this by Hylia, and sent down by the gods as a representative of theirs, but I think it's also possible he was sent for another job (fixing the chaos that is the three way timeline split) and chose to stay and set himself up as a king. He doesn't seem to have been a particularly notable figure among the Zonai; Mineru notes how well he's done for himself on the surface which leads me to believe he had far less power where he came from. Whether or not his intentions were benevolent is a "who knows?" sort of question. Maybe they were! But I think Rauru is a good case for the idea that Ganondorf's reincarnation cycle isn't some cosmic punishment, but rather a natural reaction of balance. Rauru builds all his shrines of light, doesn't appoint a Sage of Shadow (no Sage of Shadow is weird, right? I'm not the only one), forces hegemony on Hyrule, and in the process of trying to make a completely clean society, births an opposite of chaos to his order. TOTK Ganondorf is a little obscure in terms of motive, but in his first few cutscenes in the past, he's fairly composed. He wants Hyrule to bow at his feet; he wants to humiliate Rauru. All the comments he makes towards him are pointed. This is a Ganondorf who resents the idea of becoming another faceless mask. Eventually he morphs into a being of pure chaos, perhaps in response to Rauru's more frantic attempts at control. But if the objective was balance, Hyrule does end up there: by the time of BOTW, the races that were faceless under Rauru seem to be mostly independent. Zelda doesn't exactly force the champions into their divine beasts, and their positions aren't predestined or divine in nature like the sages.
And this isn't even touching on the Sheikah (though their forced assimilation into Hylians might be completely separate from Rauru) and the idea that the Rito, Gorons, Zora, and Gerudo exist solely to aide Link and Zelda. There is a lot of stuff in this game that is absolutely fascinating (and a little frightening) from a world perspective. Most of it isn't new to Zelda either, just more explicit.
(Also I've seen some people say that the masks might've been because Nintendo was lazy with the modeling, but regardless, it's fair to analyze a work as it exists and leave the creators' intents out of the picture.)

when you come in quick to steal a kiss / my teeth will only cut your lips, my dear
oh, i will ruin you/ it's a habit i can't help it
i will drown for you / sink to black from blue
swallow my heart whole / sink me like a stone
i am not afraid / to give you everything
every word i say is kindling / but the smoke clears when you’re around
all my aching bones are trembling / and i may yet fall apart / won't you stay with me, my darling / when the war starts in my heart?
put your ear to my heart / or your teeth against my throat
the world is hostile and im fragile and i need / someone to kiss the cuts and tell me to keep trying
it was a march we made towards ruin and despair / but we held hands all the while
oh, i gave you / everything i had
beneath the table you would offer up my bones / and all the dogs would lick your fingers
and if my lover will not heed it / take my voice and take my spirit / leave me weakened and dig my hole / only my lover, not i, can keep my soul
i want to kindle a love that doesn't age
glowing ember, shining within her / burn it down, raze the field, but just please don't swallow me
our hearts lay still and cold / under ice and frozen soil
