Bruce Wayne

• Bruce isn't going to handle his first experience of genuine affection from you very well. He's going to be a bit distant at first until he's comfortable around your affection and he's sure that you're not trying to manipulate him in any way or get something from him (even if he knows that this isn't the case, he still has a hard time with getting close to people and receiving affection).

• Due to the loss of his parents he does hate to genuinely get close to a person in an emotional way, especially if they're a normal person. Until he is finally close to you, and even during your relationship together, he'll be more paranoid and worried about someone finding out his identity and using you as a way to hurt him in any way.

• If you try to get him to open up he will be quite hostile and he genuinely doesn't mean to be. He's becomes very defensive due to the walls he's built up for so long and he isn't quite sure how to allow them to come down and let you in at first without feeling incredibly vulnerable.

• It may be easier for him to get to know you if you're also a hero or vigilante and he gets to know you while keeping his identity a secret. He doesn't have to worry about disappointing you with his true self, and he'll be reassured that you're able to look after yourself if you're ever confronted by anyone intending to cause you harm.

• Opening up to you would be a gradual process, but if you take some time it will be possible to have him be vulnerable and honest with you eventually. You may even help him work through the many emotional problems he has which could lead to him settling down and living a peaceful life without his Batman persona one day in the future.

Dick Grayson

• Dick's loss of his parents cause him to behave almost the opposite of Bruce, and he has become almost addicted to physical touch and emotional comfort. He starts to crave you as soon as you've shown him some affection and he will absolutely become addicted to you being around him.

• He allows himself to open up to you almost immediately if he thinks that you truly care about him and he trust's you. He has a lot of pent up feelings and thoughts that he hasn't able to get out, so you being there for him definitely takes a huge burden off of his shoulders.

• Dick starts to indulge in many of the things he didn't get in the past due to having so many unstable relationships, so this does lead him to rely on you emotionally quite a bit. He always seems to be funny and outgoing on the outside, so once you see this side of him it may come as quite a surprise.

• In public, Dick loves it when you give him affection, but of course he isn't going to go over the top with it. When you give him small touches and affection when outside or around others it gives him comfort and makes him feel much more secure in the situation he's confronted with, even if it's only a social gathering.

• Genuinely opening up to you would be a slow process, and you may need to seek advice from his family at first to try and find a way to make him feel safer while telling you things he doesn't like to talk about. But this will come naturally to him after a while, he just needs to get to a stage where he feels like he's ready to actually say certain things out loud.

Jason Todd

• Jason would probably be quite hesitant to receiving affection, especially if this is shortly after he 're-joined' the family, or hasn't been able to work out the trauma he's been through yet. He get's paranoid about what could possibly happen if you get too close to him, so it's not that he doesn't want your affection - he's just simply scared of the consequences.

• Despite craving someone to be close to, he doesn't have a lot of experience with actual relationships so he may be a bit awkward about how close your relationship is getting. He tries his best as much as he can, but he simply can't figure everything out by himself and he may also seem a bit clueless at times when you first approach him.

• When others aren't around Jason will become very cuddly and attention seeking towards you due to finally getting used to your new found attention for him. He didn't realise how much he was really missing out on, and now when the two of you are alone he can't get enough of it.

• In public, Jason isn't much of a big fan of affection being shown towards him. He's used to keeping up his serious image depending on who is around and he isn't the type of person to want many others seeing him in a vulnerable state no matter how small your affectionate display is.

• When Jason finally opens up to you about being emotionally and physically starved of affection and touch, he will get quite emotional. He's been keeping so many emotions and thoughts buried deep inside himself for so long that when he finally lets it all out it's like huge floodgates have been opened. You can try your best to settle him down, but this is just something he really needs to get out more than anything else.

Tim Drake

• Tim would be more inclined to return your affection even if he has been touch starved for a while since he knows how to express himself in this way a bit better than the rest of the family. He's always much calmer when opening up to you and gets to the point quickly so you wouldn't have to spend time guessing whether he's comfortable or not with your affection towards him.

• He would be quite bashful about your new found affection at first, even though he’s more than willing to accept it. He comes over this very easily though, as soon as he sees how much affection you have for him he loves it instantly.

• Tim will crave your company after you first start showing him some love and affection, especially if he notices that you’re doing it because you want to and not because you think you have time while being with him. He’s constantly keeping himself close to you in the hopes of you giving him attention without him needing to ask directly at first and will keep giving you hints depending on how long it takes for you to catch on.

• If you show Tim affection in public, or while other people are around, he may get flustered and blush a lot at first. After a while he’ll become used to a bit PDA and will be quite comfortable with it as long as it isn’t too much.

• Tim wants to be honest with you, so he’s probably going to be the most truthful about things compared to the other people in his family. However, he still has a habit of leaving out key information from the things he tells you unless you trick him into a very comfortable situation where he can’t help himself but to open up to you.

Damian Wayne

• Damian isn’t going to react well to affection the first time you try to give him some, even if the two of you are deemed to be close. He simply isn’t used to it, so even if he wants it his body may naturally put its guard up due to it being a new concept he’s experiencing.

• It will be awkward for a while as he tries to move past this, but all he really needs it to get used to it and experience it more often. Once you show affection towards him on a regular occurrence then he will be more than happy to receive it in private. He still won’t be into PDA no matter how used to it he is.

•When the two of you are alone then he will absolutely want affection from you, especially after he’s had a difficult day. He’ll be blunt to you about it and may feel more inclined to show affection towards you rather than for you to behave that way towards him once he’s able to express himself well.

• He’ll be strongly against it in public. Not only does he see it as a weakness but he would also prefer it to be a highly private thing for him. If you ever reached out to hold his hand then he may hold it back after a while of consideration, but under no normal circumstances would he initiate it himself.

•After Damian is used to giving and receiving affection from you physically, it will be much easier for him to express his emotions. It may still be quite hard for him, but after he starts to open up he realises how much better he feels to do so.

When you saw each other again, Mike couldn't believe his eyes, and neither could you. It had been over a decade since you two had been together, and now, you both were shyly delivering compliments and lazy stories as an attempt to rekindle your friendship.

Mike trusted you around Abby despite everything that happened in his youth, even if he hadn't seen you in years, Mike had an intense soft spot for you. Besides, Abby should know the person brought him intense joy as a kid.

You were surprised how private he was despite being incredibly outgoing before he had moved away. If you two go anywhere in public, he strays close to you. Not because it makes him feel safer, but because it eases his paranoia. Plus, Mike is a lost puppy dog when it comes to being around strangers.

Semi-affectionate. Especially with back hugs. Mike doesn't use his words too often to describe how he feels, so he'd rather express it in other ways. He also really enjoys patting your back and holding your shoulder.

Loves talking about all the shenanigans you both got up to while you were kids. Of course, you'd definitely keep it far away from Garrett territory. Anytime there's a mention of younger relatives, he gets very silent. + Mike loves listening to you to you talk.

Will buy things relating to your childhood interests. Another way he shows affection. Even if you weren't into a certain band or sitcom, he'd get it for you regardless. You probably have a mini-collection.

You're one of the rare few Mike will actually open up to. Of course, you'll probably only hear the tip of the iceberg, but you're content with him taking it slow. Speaking of which, he'd drop everything for you.

Mike loves spending time with you and Abby. Seeing you two close together makes his heart melt. Especially when Abby said you all together was like some strange family.

Something Mike enjoys is showing you around his neighborhood, or some of his favorite places to go. He's even taken you to Sparky's a couple times, somewhere you were surprised he liked (of course, he'd always go there devilishly early to avoid people and noise.)

Absolute sweetheart towards you. Due to being a huge part of his life, Mike can't bring himself to get angry at all, even if you're both in an argument. It hurts too much to get upset towards somebody so important.

You're definitely Abby's babysitter. And if Mike could, he'd pay you triple. You cannot tell me he doesn't get sad when you come over with no payment.

Mike probably wished you could live with him, but he doesn't want you to get hurt because of him.

Alpha- top of the hierarchy. Dominant, and usually in charge. Hot heads and breeders.

Abigail- i think she would be an alpha that acts like a beta or omega. No one would actually know she’s an alpha until she loses her temper or goes off scent blockers or something.

Alex- typical dudebro and will be doing the breeding thank you. I feel like he would be a stereotypical alpha like this is a given.

Sebastian- DONT KILL ME PLS this is kinda biased because I know for a fact that I am literally Penny but an actual person and he is the one I am attracted to so naturally I want to put him here. I am probably delusional but I also think he could take charge so hmph.

Shane- can’t see him being bred bc i think he would be doing the breeding. When he takes control of his insecurities and stuff I think he could be super confident and leader like. Just needs to not be depressed.

Pierre- it’s his personality tbh. Like while I desperately do not want him to be in this category based on how much I dislike him, he would go into this category purely because of how he acts. He wants the most money, he’a the “man of the house” and provider, he has a temper he would just be an annoying alpha.

Kent- sexy hawt military man is obviously an alpha. There is no way he is being bred, there is no way he is going to be the homemaker, being an alpha is literally the only thing that makes sense for him.

Mr.Qi - he gives off alpha vibes, no omega or beta could be this confident and mysterious for absolutely no reason other than just being that way idk.

Evelyn - she gives off the vibes that when she and George were younger they were the “it’s fine/HE ASKED FOR NO PICKLES” couple. I think she could whoop somebody’s ass back in the day.

Marlon- man kills monsters for a living. Like no omega is going to waste time on that or even do that if I’m honest. Leave monster killing to the people who don’t have other things to do.

Pam- she gives off alpha that had their omega leave them vibes and that’s why she’s a crappy mother because it was not supposed to be her job.

Lance- literally a fighter/adventurer. The man protects and attacks he has to be an alpha, there is no way an omega can do this, and due to him being an active adventurer, and him being protective makes him more alpha than beta.

Olivia- an alpha mother that wants her beta son(spoiler) to be more like her. She active in getting money, or at least I think she has stocks. And she’s more ambitious than I think an omega or beta would be.

Andy-is this because he gives off asshole vibes? Mayhaps. He just seems like he’s an alpha whose family left him so he’s bitter at the world. A corpo slave to so where else would he go?

Suki- boss bitch that actually sneaks into the capital(or whatever it is) and steals and gets other people to give her contraband so she can sell it to bitches at a high price for her risking her life. Would never bow down to anyone.

Beta- in the middle simply because they are neither dominant nor submissive. They do not give off smells nor do they have heats or ruts. Basic people tbh.

Emily- she is just vibes. No amount of sex or heats or ruts or pheromones will bother her. She is above that and is too busy making clothes for birds.

Leah- I think she would literally just be middle ground because she gives off those vibes. Also because I think she could possibly end up with either an alpha or omega, it literally doesn’t matter to her.

Maru- she is literally just science. I am sorry but there is no time for breeding and going feral because of heats, she needs to make this robot and she needs to make it now.

Harvey- I also would’ve put him in Omega but since he is a doctor I feel like that means he is a beta. Like I don’t think alpha or omegas would be able to have this job since instincts and stuff are a major part in how they act. Betas would be able to ignore everything else and just work idk.

Clint- doesn’t give omega vibes but definitely is not an alpha. Like not to jump on the Clint hate train, but he gives off angry beta vibes that wishes he was an alpha. He doesn’t have confidence, and he seems like a loser tbh. He probably wishes he was an alpha to get Emily, or even any girl that he likes, but doesn’t realize that she and maybe even the rest don’t really care if he’s an alpha or not so he’s mad for nothing.

Morris- he is literally just a worker bee. No sex, no love, just working and getting to the top and having money. The man is only ruled by money, no amount of good smelling things and sexy prospects will entice him.

Willy- a man who just wants to fish. He also gives off alpha vibes, but I think he is too comfortable to be around and too chill and level headed to be an alpha. Love him.

Magnus- I think he just magically made himself a beta in order to not have any distractions. Was married once, it was a mistake, he impregnated a person that lives in Pelican Town (*cough* Caroline *cough*) and she went back to her husband so he doesn’t want any other distractions. It’s only time for magic and protecting the town.

Linus- cannot be an alpha or omega and be comfortable living alone in a tent. He is just a nature man and it would not make any sense for him to be anything but a beta.

Demetrius- like father like daughter, the only thing that matters is science he just somehow ended up with a hot wife. She is happy being a provider and he is happy doing his science.

Grandpa- I have no idea I refuse to put him under either because it’s either admitting he is fuckable and submissive or dominant and a fucker. Absolutely not.

Lewis- hate him he has baby balls with how he treats Marnie, yeah he’s a leader being mayor, but no true alpha would act like this. He’s an asshole that is making himself seem like an even bigger asshole in an attempt to seem like an alpha.

Victor- is only ambitious about things he cares about, which is similar to the others on this list. Doesn’t wish to really do anything with his life other than what he is passionate about, like bridges.

Susan- all she wants to do is be on her farm as far as I know. I would’ve put her in alpha but she doesn’t give off those vibes she just seems normal? Like she’s able to take charge but won’t if she doesn’t have to?

Omega - definition of submissive and breedable. At the bottom of the hierarchy and their main purpose is to breed and serve the alphas. Sadge.

PENNY- the literal definition of submissive and breedable. Like yes? This is her actual dream? She would love this.

Haley- has the personality of an Alpha but is not one. Just extremely bratty. The right person will make her submit naturally and not just because of her status.

Sam- sweet boy Sam is deffo an omega. Maybe not super submissive but I think that underneath the childishness he would be a good homemaker. Like I think that his relationship with his younger brother shows that he is on the more nurturing side rather than the I have to provide side.

Caroline- I feel like only an omega could deal with Pierre. She always complains about him working all the time and how he behaves but she never does anything about it. Omega behavior.

Gender Headcanon: subaru is literally, as we’ve all discussed, like EVERY letter of lgbtq+ i swear. like natsumi EXPLICITLY being stated to be his ideal self….. what cisgender boy has his ideal version of himself be a woman…. come on….. and hes been like. dressing and trying to pass as a girl for his crossdressing pre-isekai too. like subarus Practiced A Lot at this. subaru clearly enjoys doing this and he was crushed when he couldnt pass bc of his voice pre-isekai :(( AND LIKE subaru and his complex relationship to masculinity and feeling insecure in his own skin like……………… and then natsumi being his ideal self…… natsumi being the Heroine……….. and its like. subaru clearly has a case of “do i want to be them or be With Them” when it comes to men hes attracted to (most notably julius.) so like. it could apply to women too. like. and then the way subaru reacts to felix’s presentation too………. i just think it says a lot. i dont care what tappei says but he wrote all this shit in the text fr!!! and also in general. natsuki subaru being a gender neutral name…. same with natsumi schwartz… so yes genderqueer subaru for the win. i personally hc subaru as genderfluid or bigender!! and also like. subaru being Very LGBTQ+ is so in line with rezero’s themes of self love and self improvement and self discovery and Identity. i think it hits so much harder if subaru Is lgbtq+ versus if he was just insecure straight cis man. like no wonder subaru was struggling Even More. hes so so far in the closet and struggling with like the internal homophobia and shit fr :(((

that and 1. subaru being lgbt is such a great subversion of what you would think when you first meet his character. and also a subversion of ur typical isekai protag which ADDS to rezeros subversion of isekai in general and 2. i love making Certain People mad with these hcs. like its so supported by the text the only thing missing is explicit confirmation. which. i have my doubts with tappei on that but iirc he DID say he nearly wrote a lust if with the guys…. tappei. come on. you already explicitly said that natsumi is subarus ideal self.

A ship I have with said character: im very open to most subaru ships!!! i just love a lot of them—reinsuba, ottosuba, emisuba, remsuba, julisuba… i just like how each kind of dynamic with subaru has so much range like even in just main route alone?? and then you factor in the ifs and it gets So Interesting. theres so much history with each pairing and so much to explore, whether its platonic or romantic. and subaru has a LOT of love in his heart.

i just like each pairing for different reasons hah—like ok ive talked a lot about reinsuba and emisuba already in other asks so. i DO like remsuba okay. not in the sense that i want it to be the endgame ship in main route bc thats very much not happening and i would prefer The Most Detailed emisuba development of all time. which would be more thematically relevant <3 but i DO ADORE remsubas relationship in general. like its so so complicated??? like. yeah theres the conflict in arc 2. theres the conflict in arc 7 with her waking up and being different and being so mean to him about natsumi :((( theres her “youre my hero” versus “youre not a hero” WHICH. URHGHF ITS SO GOOD….. and like yeah remsuba really do be. iffy. in terms of how healthy it is. but its so complicated bc you also have rem being like—she was like the first person, narratively, to be willing to DIE to save subaru the exact way he does for other people (including rem). and then the famous from zero scene in season one which is a MASTERPIECE but i hate how people fixate on “i love emilia” LIKE REM IS HAPPY FOR SUBARU. SHE IS HAPPY AS LONG AS HE IS. EVEN IF HE DOESNT LIKE HER BACK. but also he did like her back romantically for a time. and also of course rem had her fixation on subaru :(( subaru had his own obsession for emilia while rem had hers for subaru pre-being gluttonyed?? :(( yeah like. remsuba being so complicated is so interesting to me. like she and subaru are very passionate people yes. but also they do need to learn to tone it down sometimes you know? ok also julisuba and ottosuba. i am no expert on julisuba but on the other hand i have analyzed Too Much Ottosuba so perhaps i am an expert there wodndn. but YEAH i love those ships. they have so much history and moments between them and they are. definitely the more Explicit evidence of subaru being bi (between subarus Interest in julius and reid calling julisuba boyfriends and SUBARUS INTEREST IN JULIUS... vs ottosuba repeatedly being like “omg do you Like Like me?” “NO I DONT SHUT UP” and also their continued divorce arc dynamics yep). but also i will say i really like ottosuba because specifically they are the subaru pairing where theyre like. Very Much Closer To Being Equals. if theyre not already equals in something. like in terms of power levels and intellect and their very loving families and previous inability to fit in or be believed by people and also their status in the narrative as Being Just A Guy in comparison to everyone else. and yet ottosuba are the MOST important members to their camp for their jobs—subaru keeps everyone alive, and otto handles All the politics, which we see over and over again. they are literally THE power duo. otto is so so important too as the second person to die FOR subaru the same way subarus died for others. like the paralleling of otto pushing subaru out of the way when the white whale drove otto insane (and later otto tried to go back for subaru once he regained his senses ;-;;;) versus otto pushing subaru out of the way so he didnt get killed by garf ;-;;;;;. and otto being the second person after rem to also give subaru an EXTREMELY IMPORTANT speech to him (otto-rem parallels...???) <33 except ottosuba also foil a lot bc of their Different Morals. but theyre both stubborn as hell and have a tendency to go off and do shit they think is best without telling anyone bc theyre too deadset (hah) on what THEY think. (OTTO. SPENDING A WHOLE YEAR SECRETLY GETTING THE BOOK OF WISDOM AND HAVING IT RESTORED?? HELLO???) anyway yeah ill stop right here bc i have So Much ottosuba posts on this damn blog wkdndn but i really do think the appeal of ottosuba is that they Are on a more even playing ground. and their morality flipflops sometimes. ottos issues are just more lowkey than subarus widndnd. i am. however. nervous about all the ottosuba and vincent-chisha parallels in arc 8 bc………. possible otto perma death on the horizon??? 😭😭😭😭 itd CRUSH subaru.

also of course the similar flavors of julisuba and ottosuba….. u can have ur tsundere x tsundere ships in TWO DIFFERENT FONTS. anyway ill become a julius lore expert someday i promise.

A BROTP I have with said character: BROTP ottosuba and ramsuba are so so funny and great wofndn but special shoutout to garf and subaru in particular!!! i think its interesting how far their relationship has come bc they had a VERY rough start and its like. 1. im sure garf would immediately regret going into a rage and killing a shit ton of people in that One Failed Loop and 2. we learn garf is a traumatized fourteen year old whos been trying so hard to take care of the demihumans inside sanctuary while his sister and mom left him, one way or another, and hes very afraid of the outside world. and its like YEAH now your behavior makes sense. and its so good to see garfs growth and also his growth in his relationship with subaru (and otto) bc he looks up to subaru sm!!! subaru helped garf so much T^T theyre brothers guys 😭😭 i think its so adorable and so sweet. ill defend garf all day everyday. garf 🤝 subaru with their DAMN hero complexes while otto tries to keep them both on a leash so they dont do stupid shit. subaru IS a good role model for garf though ill say that. subaru tries so hard to be a good role model wkdndn. and yes i always laugh when garf teases subaru for drawing doodles and writing encouraging things for emilia in the temple.

A NOTP I have with said character: okay so. maybe i will spill some tea here. hah so i went over in ram’s ask how i think ramsuba in wrath if is actually super interesting widndns but otherwise ramsuba to me is bland. which. i also just feel like subaru/crusch and subaru/ana and subaru/priscilla are also bland. like. i dont think theyll ever feel interesting to me akdndn. like theres not. as much to work off of imo. like i just dont think theyre a good match romantically at all. like At All. priscilla especially LMAO…. and im tired of people reducing women in the story to just boobs and being fucked by subaru 😭😭😭 like i dont have anything against those subaru ships, my biggest notp is just seeing a bunch of characters be butchered just to have subaru have sex with various women. 😭😭 obviously not everyone in the fandom does that but i see this happens the most with priscilla fr. pls. shes more than just boobs :(((

anyway. my other notp is like. echidna/subaru but like. i feel similarly to ram/roswaal on this where its like. theres a potential there to show a nuanced complex toxic relationship bc THAT IS what echidna/subaru are. even more so in greed if. like theyve spent an UNGODLY amount of time together like their relationship is so fucked. like god the amount of details that were added to their dynamic in the greed if ln makes me go INSANE….. like you know how echidna said that subaru could use her body with this contract?? what she ALSO really meant was HEY SUBARU YOU CAN KILL ME IF YOU WANT. ILL JUST COME BACK BC WE ALWAYS MEET IN A DREAM WORLD AND THERES NO CONSEQUENCES BUT ITLL FEEL REAL TO YOU. LIKE HOLY FUCK FR 😭😭 and like in generally reading through greed if ln is a Trip alright. like “no yeah duh of course it is, suffaru, its GREED IF” but LISTEN……. echidna being subarus weird mother figure and then like. idk there are obvious implications i feel from like the body fluid tea and then echidna being like “you can use my body” and then theres a moment where she puts his hand on her chest and yeah its to feel her heart but LIKE…. anyway my real notp is like. depicting echidna/subaru like it is a Healthy Thing like no it is not 😭😭😭😭 it never was healthy and it literally never will be unless ur changing echidnas character drastically. if ur gonna show off echidna/subaru then they are gonna be SO RANCID in like every way possible there is no other correct way to write them. she is terrible for him. she literally saw him and went “i can make him worse” and then it happened. bc greed if subaru is a Terrible Person. like. its not even a question. the biggest example i can think of rn other than obvious Rbd use is KEEPING MEILI. A CHILD. HOSTAGE AND LOCKED UP IN ORDER TO USE ELSA. HER OLDER SISTER FIGURE. JEEZ. my biggest notp of all time is treating unhealthy relationships as if they Arent unhealthy.

MY OTHER BIGGEST NOTP OF ALL TIME FOR ANYTHING IS SHIPPING A CHILD AND AN OLDER PERSON TOGETHER. subaru/petra SHOULD BE AN OBVIOUS NOTP BUT SURE DOESNT FEEL LIKE IT SOMETIMES….. guys she is a child. come on. hes seventeen and shes TWELVE. TAPPEI…… N-NOTHING HAPPENS, RIGHT? *EXPLODES WITH RAGE*. even if petra and subaru get together later when theyre Older Adults in some AU or something its like. subaru knew her when she was a young child. and she had a crush on him then. um. personally idk if im fully comfortable with that hah T^T

A random headcanon: GONNA TALK ABOUT WRATH IF. anyway so the wrath if divergence point is that subaru gets beatrice to teleport him away and ram chases him down, ram tries to strangle him to death but fails, he smashes her head with a rock. yes. BUT OKAY when u watch the anime. beatrice comes for his aid AFTER subaru gets to the cliff and tries to psych himself up to like. jump off to save rem and stuff. THEREFORE wrath if subaru still considered trying to rbd via jumping off that cliff. he just decided not to and agreed to have beatrice teleport him away. this is something not many people seem to mention or maybe even notice (??) but I THINK ABOUT IT A LOT…. :((

General Opinion over said character: i LOVE SUBARU WITH MY WHOLE BEING. he is my absolute favorite anime character of all time. his character arc is so chaotic and complicated and i think the way he Does like still struggle with the same Inner Conflicts is so so much more realistic. recovery and self improvement are NOT linear and he shows that perfectly. and i hate how much people misread subaru T^T the whole chadbaru trend in fandom of how he should get harems or how he should leave everyone or be terrible to emilia for *insert a long list of Terrible reasons here* is so. like did we all read and watch the same damn story or what hah. the whole point of rezero is LOVE ITSELF….. and subaru ultimately has a lot of love for so many people around him. though of course i do worry for how rbd reveal is going to be handled, and im not entirely sure how to feel about subarus arc 7 development atm. rbd reveal is gonna have catastrophic consequences for Everyone. like everyone hes ever been close to finding out hes died a shit ton of times to save him?? that so many of them have like. maimed and killed him or at least Tried To Do That? like HOW are we gonna get a happy ending out of all of this—hows tappei gonna handle this?? 😭😭 i worry sometimes that when rbd reveal happens it wont be nuanced or itll gloss over certain things or it just. wont be so satisfying. bc u have arc 7 subaru out here with SUICIDE PILLS……. ARC 7 SUBARU IN REPEATED INSANE DEATH LOOPS AS A CHILD….. how are we gonna come back from this?? 😭😭 i have my doubts sometimes but tappei loves insane character development for subaru so i suppose i will hope. i just wish for all the trauma to be seen and addressed akdndn and the fact that rbd is so. complicated. it makes subaru and his relationships with everyone else so complicated. and rbd is inherently unfair in a lot of ways to both subaru and everyone hes close to. i cant wait for more subaru development but i also think after arc 8 he NEEDS a break or like otherwise, personally i think subarus gonna snap for good and not be able to return from it 😭😭 or ill just have to suspend my uhh disbelief. i suppose. but yes i do love subaru a lot!!! his hair is a Pain in the ass to draw but ill endure the pain just for him. <33

but regarding all of subarus loved ones maiming and killing him a lot—i think its fascinating how the if routes prove he is JUST as capable of ruining all their lives. like i feel like people forget that sometimes in favor of woaaah cool what if routes where subaru becomes “badass”…. but LIKE…. hes SO SO CAPABLE of so much destruction. he is choice itself. he is capable of changing the entire world and everyone around him. he is capable of causing the deaths and trauma for SO MANY PEOPLE… and like i think rezero itself and subarus relationships are like an extreme version of hedgehog’s dilemma, u know? like u get close to people to love and be loved, but ur also very vulnerable to getting hurt. and rezero is About love. and part of close relationships are that ur so close u Can be hurt. maybe you Will be hurt. but u will also Love….. unless ur one of the ifbarus then fuck u for making the wrong decisions ig wodndndn. im telling u guys that subaru is LITERALLY an eldritch being at this rate. todd is so right.

and. okay one last thing im gonna be real for a second. im a little eh on subaru being a child, honestly. like i DO like the trope of turning characters back into their child selves in order to explore their psychology that way!! but like. idk i feel like the childbaru arc is kinda too similar to the whole amnesiabaru arc in arc 6. it feels Extraneous. it doesnt feel different enough for me personally. (emphasis on personally. this is all my opinion hah.) and then he is STILL A CHILD IN ARC 8 EVEN THOUGH THE OTHER PEOPLE THAT GOT TURNED INTO KIDS ARE NOW BACK TO NORMAL…… LIKE…. im sorry but the childbaru has overstayed its welcome by the time we get to arc 8 imo 😭😭

been thinking about my au a lot tonight

→ ive decided i want to focus a lot on their characters, before focusing on the romance aspect.

→ ive been trying to find the best ways to incorporate the events which caused their characters to be how they are, without the magical girl aspect - specifically kyoko and her family, who in the au, are still dead and she is just living with a relative / uncle.

< i would like to preface my further notes by saying i do mention/discuss religion and internalised homophobia - so if its triggering for you be cautious. im also not trying to criticise anyone or start anything in terms of religious beliefs, personally i am not religious or atheist.

also a lot of what i say is either headcanons or my own personal interpretation of characters so if u disagree thats totally ok but pls be respectful ! >

→ ive been thinking about kyokos characterisation a lot, and i wanted to incorporate her religious upbringing and belief, and how that would affect her in terms of sexuality or romance (as in my headcanons she is a lesbian).

→ i feel like since madoka magica is set in 2005/2006 japan (more like 2006/7 since in my au theyre around a year older) the environment surrounding queer identify is going to be largely negative, and i wanted to also explore how that would affect both kyoko and sayaka.

→ a lot of sayakas character focuses on her upholding this set of beliefs for herself, even before she becomes a magical girl. she believes that she has to be a certain way to be loved (why she got more upset finding out about being a form of "zombie" than say kyoko did for e.g) and i think that would reflect in her realising she has feelings for kyoko. i personally feel like she wouldnt be against queer people, and respects those that are, but has strong internalised hatred for herself upon realising she may be queer, as that doesnt fit this idealised version she had crafted for herself.

→ another thing to note about my characterisation for kyoko is i want her to be able to reform her relationship with religion, as i feel like she definitely has a connection to it and as she heals from this belief that queer identify is sinful, she can learn to love God again, as well as herself.

→ this all makes sense within the way ive structured the au, but also may be subject to change.

honestly i feel like there are a few characters i could rant about rn i have been seeing some things lately that activate my haterism but!! let's see...

sirius is for sure my favorite character so. 2 respond 2 the ask. one of my fave hcs/the way i basically always write him is as a gay man. like. that never really changes for me + is kind of an essential part of the way i interpret his character. i don't really care if people hc otherwise but i just am not really interested in fics where he isn't gay!

something that does bother me tho is people who like....strip away or water down all his canon flaws. obviously people should write him however they want in their own stories, but it just bugs me when people take stuff like the prank or the general cuntiness that sirius exhibits in canon and either act like it makes him irredeemable OR act like it needs 2 be erased to make him likeable. i really view sirius as someone who sort of naturally tends towards meanness in certain ways and who finds it easier to be unkind than kind, and to me it's really important that he is specifically someone who struggles towards kindness + thoughtfulness + just an awareness of other people's feelings, bc it doesn't come naturally to him. and i don't really care if other people interpret his character differently, but i do care when i see people acting like the "sirius is kinda mean" interpretation is like.....morally corrupt or somehow inferior, because characters doing bad things means they're Bad. like whenever i see someone climbing onto a moral high horse just bc they've essentially erased a large portion of a character's canon characterization to make them more palatable it makes me want to bash my head into a wall <3

bonus mini-rants:

i loooooove making marlene a "mean lesbian stereotype" and hate when people complain abt it

i think it's fucking weird when people look at the popular hc of dorcas going after voldemort for revenge and call that "female rage"

i dislike it when people insist that lily being a "good mother" is the most important part of her character. same goes for narcissa. jkr's weirdness abt motherhood is one of the main ways that sexism is baked into the source material of this fandom which is why i think people need 2 stop acting like u can just close ur eyes + pretend jkr doesn't exist when writing hp fanfic, bc then u get shit like people regurgitating her weird moralizing abt mothers lmao

because SNW is allowing me this reading and because it’s something I’ve always headcanoned (way before SNW and Kirk/La’an), I’m just gonna ramble and muse a bit

spoilers for snw2 episode 9

(if you wanna read more Kirk/La’an thoughts related to the episode, here. I’m probably going to muse about this a lot in the upcoming days, and make more coherent posts)

Kirk isn’t in love with Carol. He likes her, but he isn’t in love with her. His and Carol’s relationship was always casual; if the Farragut was close to Starbase 1, they were on, if they were away for a longer period of time, they were off.

And now Carol is pregnant, which was unplanned, and caught both of them off guard. But Kirk’s loyal and serious, so he wants to be there for her and their child. Even though it complicates a lot of things. He might even think it will complicate his career, unless he wants to become his father and take his child through the galaxy, never having time for him.

TOS tells us that Kirk and Carol weren’t together by 2261. TWOK tells us that David met James Kirk and that Carol asked Kirk to stay away and never told David who his father was.

So there are two options. Carol tells Kirk to stay away quite soon after David is born, and he does, but years later, they reunite, but also they don’t get romantically back: “Were we together? Were we going to be?” and Kirk doesn’t really try to befriend David

OR they simply break up, but Kirk is allowed contact until a certain age. And after that Carol tells him to stay away. “You had your world and I had mine. And I wanted him in mine, not chasing through the universe with his father.” That could literally be after the 5ym, even. Or shortly before, but David remembers “that overgrown Boy Scout Carol used to hang around with”, so after seems more plausible. (but again, they don’t get back together) (which is something I did mention in this post some time ago)

[most of the stuff above is just my original HC tweaked a bit to fit new info from SNW]

Before SNW seriously introduced a potential of Kirk/La’an, I expected SNW to give us Kirk/Carol story. But last week, I was thinking and realized that SNW isn’t a Kirk story - he isn’t a main character (I know people tend to see it that way, but he’s not). We won’t see Kirk centric episodes (or at least we shouldn’t for a pretty long while imho or at all tbh) - his every appearance should be tied to the main cast. That doesn’t mean - as we’ve already seen - that we won’t get his backstory, but it might mean that a lot of Kirk’s life will just happen off screen.

(I’m not saying we won’t see Carol. They cleverly put her on Starbase 1 where the Enterprise returns to often. There’ll probably be an episode where the Enterprise will need to do something with the scientists at Starbase 1. Spock will probably meet Carol there as well, so they can also tick off another “canon” point. But it won’t be a Kirk story.)

I do tend to see Kirk/La’an from Kirk’s POV a lot because that’s just what I do (and because in the long run, it’s heartbreaking), but the story is written from La’an’s POV. She already lost Kirk once, she lost him twice. From the storytelling POV, the story should eventually lead toward something more positive when it comes to Kirk and La’an as a relationship. Not having them eventually get together (even if they part after or La’an dies) would just feel hollow and ??? Especially since Kirk confirmed that he had feelings for La’an, but he can’t act on them because he has a gf and a baby on the way. (and as viewers, we know that Kirk/Carol just won’t last even though the characters don’t know that)

(But also like, Kirk, pls, you have a gf and you’ve still kind of led La’an on.)

From Kirk’s POV, I can see the “it was a lost potential that never happened”. If Kirk was the main character (and not La’an), I’d probably even expect that. Kirk made his choice and La’an moved on. But not from La’an’s POV tbh Not giving La’an her chance at being vulnerable and happy with Kirk would be too bleak. But I’m also known for liking the “wrong couples” lol

Using her experience with Kirk to find that elsewhere would of course work in RL, but as a story, it’d be disappointing.

Well, I might change my thoughts after I see the finale and what they do with Pike/Batel and Spock/Chapel lol I don’t believe Kirk is in the finale but maybe I’m wrong.

in any case, if Kirk doesn’t appear in the finale, I’m totally using this when I figure out what kind of Kirk/La’an fic I’d like to write. I just want to give both of them happiness. Even if it’s temporary.

Okay so the very first thing that comes to mind:

The music.

I've talked about this once before (well over a year ago) here, but I need to gush about it more in-depth.

Obviously, it's the most important part of the game. It's a RHYTHM game. But it's not just a mechanic, it's something acknowledged in-world:

“This world does have some surprising similarities to my own. For example, whenever there are monsters nearby, you have to move to the beat! You’ll get used to it… Trust me.

"But at least in your world, if there are no enemies around, you can move as fast or as slow as you want. Handy!”

Cadence says this if you talk to her next to Link's house. Not only is this confirmation that the music is present, but that it's also a force in the world that works differently in other dimensions, like magic.

A good number of entries to the series have different music if enemies are around. Some examples:

Ocarina of Time

Wind Waker

Twilight Princess

Skyward Sword

Breath of the Wild

Not to mention that virtually ALL of the games have their own boss and miniboss music.

To have this acknowledged in-game is such a neat bit of worldbuilding if you run with it. My headcanon is that it's a form of synesthesia; ie, something from one sense is causes an unrelated reaction in a different sense. Smelling certain things when you see colors, seeing patterns when you touch materials, and so on.

In this case, I believe it's telepathic synesthesia. Hylians are known for their ability to hear "the voice of the gods," though this most commonly manifests by Zelda talking to Link to ask for help.

Telepathy is the ability to read minds. Enemies, presumably, have the ability to think (at least with enough capacity to see Link as a threat and attack him). With music being acknowledged as an in-world force, my theory is that Link (and by extension Zelda, Cadence, Yves, and any other playable character) interprets the thoughts of the various around him as their own kind of music.

The forest takes on a different theme if it's under attack, because the wildlife is trying to avoid getting caught in the crossfire. People have themes as they come into view, because their thoughts invoke a specific feeling in Link. That's how you get bad-news music for someone who's later going to be revealed as a boss, or pleasant tunes for someone guaranteed to be a friend, or leitmotifs for related characters.

All the Links have this to some degree. The original Legend of Zelda only really has two themes: the theme of the world, and the theme of the monster-infected dungeons. His telesthesia is very low-key.

On the complete opposite end of the spectrum, Cadence of Hyrule has themes for every area, with both peaceful and monster-infested variants. On top of this, he gets a visual indicator as well; there's a rhythm counter at the bottom of the screen that tells you when and how to step, and when it's not around, you're out of danger.

What's really interesting is looking at this beyond the game convenience, because it's both an asset and a disability. On the positive side, Link will always know when he's in danger, or when a place has different life in it from areas he's been to before. In Cadence of Hyrule specifically, though, it lets him predict his enemies' moves, recognizing patterns and dodging in time with their thoughts.

On the negative side, telepathy is, presumably, an at-will power. Zelda isn't always reading minds and sending thoughts to the people around her, as far as we can tell. But with Link hearing the music constantly, this means that he both cannot read or send thoughts himself and cannot turn the ability off. The only way for him to get peace and quiet is to isolate himself, and being in a place with a lot of people walking around can be incredibly overwhelming over time. And even barring that, in Cadence of Hyrule, you're punished for not being on beat; Link is very much dependent on this ability to keep his fighting prowess, something other Links don't have to suffer through.

In that regard, I think it's no coincidence that Age of Calamity has such a vibrant and varied soundtrack, while Breath of the Wild limits itself mostly to piano. BotW is an empty world, full of ruins and quiet, where enemies are remnants rather than an active force. Meanwhile, Age of Calamity is a literal warfront. If the music reflects the people in the setting, Breath of the Wild's Link is experiencing the first real quiet he has in over a century. It's a shame he can't remember it, isn't it?

“You’re just annoyed that your personal headcanon isn’t canon!”

Or; my personal thoughts (ranting) about the Loki series and its surrounding toxic discourse.

First of all, I’m going to preface this with the following: whether you loved or hated the Loki series, or you fall somewhere in between, your opinion is valid and if anyone tells you that you can’t express that in a critical manner, then they need to kindly go away. I should also mention the obvious which most people understand — death threats directed at anyone involved in making the series is disgusting and if you do so you’re fucking deluded.

Now that that’s out of the way…

I’m someone who wasn’t overly fond of the series in the end. I went in surprisingly hopeful after enjoying Wandavision and TFATWS. For the most part I really enjoyed the first 3 episodes (episode 3 being the best imo) but I found myself quickly disillusioned by how the narrative seemed to fall apart in terms of cohesiveness. Keeping it short and sweet, I feel like a lot of the relationships (whether platonic or otherwise) were rushed. I found Loki’d dynamic with both Mobius and Sylvie to be confusing, unbelievable, and all around not earned. It feels as though they had a start point and an end point (ie. Loki needs a genuine friend) but we didn’t see any of the journey in between to show how the relationship developed. The quote “after all this time…” in episode 6 sent me over. Like Loki pls you’ve known this woman for max two days or something… No, I’m not salty because he didn’t end up with Mobius. No, I’m not salty because of “selfcest”. I’m salty because I don’t think the relationships were done as well as they could have been. Also, even though no one asked, Loki x therapy is the only ship I give a rats about.

Other points include the following:

Loki felt more like a side character with little impact on the events in his own show.

Sylvie sometimes teeters into Mary-Sue territory, and at times appears to be valued only because she is a woman.

Mobius’ relationship with Loki seems inherently toxic and he is not his therapist. As someone who regularly attends therapy sessions, if your therapist ever talks to you like Mobius talks to Loki — get a new goddamn therapist, Jesus Christ…

In my opinion, the show explores very little of Loki’s character and what makes him tick, especially considering this is post-Avengers 2012 Loki. I’m aware there were only six episodes and I’m not expecting everything to be crammed in, but where Loki was in Thor 1 and the Avengers seems so disconnected from where he is in the series. It seems to portray him as someone hellbent on power and ruling, as opposed to someone desperate for respect and the love of his family/people.

But I digress, the real point of this post was to tell certain people to feck off. Obviously there’s going to be discourse around the series, but I’m starting to get really sick of one side telling the other “you put your personal headcanons on Loki”, “he’s not your character”, “you’re just annoyed because canon didn’t go how you wanted”, “you’re projecting your own abuse on him”, blah blah blah. And here was me thinking the discourse around Ragnarok was bad, but this is another level, lads.

Here’s an idea, how about people who liked the show stop acting like those who didn’t just pulled their opinion on Loki right out of their own ass? All I know is that every opinion I’ve ever formed on him was based on the first three films he appeared in. That’s it — nothing made up because I love to project as someone who went through similar shit to him.

Discuss the show, but don’t be a massive bellend about it.

In summary, Tom Hiddleston I am free next Saturday if you are free next Saturday and I’ll buy all the rounds of Jameson you need while we talk about Loki and how he — no matter what happens to him within the MCU from here on out — will always be one of favourite characters to grace the big screen.

(Anyway who cares what I think, people are just going to call me a whiny Loki apologist regardless.)

Jason is going to be a bit confused when he finds out that there is another Kryptonian on Earth, and he may even be a bit suspicious of you if you turn up out of nowhere and aren't associated to or mentioned by Clark at all. To him it seems like more than just a coincidence at first until he let's himself trust you properly.

Of course you're going to be incredibly stronger than him, and Jason is not going to be able to hide his attraction towards this. He can't decide between people who will finally let him relax and settle down, and those who could absolutely destroy him, so being stronger than him is definitely something he's going to give you a lot of attention for.

Jason is more than happy to accept your help when he's in some challenging situations, even though it may not happen often. Other times he just likes your company, it can get quite lonely if he out on patrol by himself, or sometimes he just wants company other than his family.

Jason feels a lot better knowing that you can take care of yourself better than the majority of other people could, and he doesn’t need to worry about you being injured any time soon. This puts him at ease when the two of you are in dangerous situations, you’re something he doesn’t have to as to his worry in the moment making you so much easier to work with.

If you didn’t have the opportunity to grow up on Earth and adjust to the company of other people properly, then he will be willing to help you as much as he can. Even if it’s only a little bit, he’ll go out of his way to help you get accustomed to certain things or even sit and talk to you for a while about things you might want to know about just as a peaceful way of spending time with you.

introducing you to other people - If you’re new to the whole vigilante and hero scene then Jason may introduce you to people, if any members of the justice league haven’t gotten their hands on you and kept you with them first. You won’t meet the conventional type of people you’d expect, bur he’d try to keep introductions to only those with good intentions.

Since you’re having a hard time, or at least keeping things in just like Jason is, he’ll feel much more comfortable telling you things than he does with other people, at least surrounding the concept of not fitting in or being understood well by others. You’re free to tell him anything and express any worries you may have and Jason will listen intensively - just don’t tell anyone that he does or he’ll be moody.

The Alef Part 2

“(This is my first fanfic for the series Mairimashita Iruma Kun. The manga and anime are S-tier and everything is super wholesome. About this Fanfic, I hope to make it as a Sullivan’s daughter reader insert/ Iruma’s mom insert, Iruma being adopted in his earlier years, and getting to meet the Teacher trio while they’re in Babyls (Opera, Kalego, and Balam).

As a first time writer, I thought the concept would be a fun challenge, staying in line with character archetype and canonical lore and plot, whilst putting a new take on headcanons from my favorite fanfics for Iruma-Kun. But, I also understand if (if anyone reads this at all) it’s not to anyone’s taste.

I’m still learning how to write “well” or how to tell stories, so this is very much a work in progress and what I hope will be a lot of fun to try out! TLDR: First fanfic, tips appreciated (including grammatical ones), my heart is soft and squishy pls don’t hurt me.

(Ah, before we get to the story, just wanted to mention that everything here is on the side story manga Kalego Gaiden (can be found anywhere it’s really cute and funny). That’s where I’ll get most of the plot to insert the reader aside from backgrounds/characteristics given to reader. It’s also where height and personality of young Kalego, Balam, and Opera (and anyone else that comes along) will be derived from. It’s an 11/10 story from an 11/10 series. Yis.

‘Hmm, powerful magic… and brute strength. What outstanding kids... and… hmm? Where’d they go?’

Opera briefly glanced around before noticing the third demon tip toeing for the door.

“Just a moment now…”

You felt your heart drop as you were lifted by the scruff of your uniform.

“I-I…”

“That was an interesting trick. Why’d you do it?”

You’re set down with the other two and you turn your head to look up at the top dog.

“I just… I thought if I did this… not-gang a favor, I could leave sooner… and eat, I’m hungry.”

“Hmm? You mean this?” He has your bento.

“Hey… c’mon now…”

Clearing his throat, “Ahem, you guys are interesting. Since one calls himself the guard dog, his will to protect this school aligns with my desire. I’m Opera, I would like you three to help me... or rather... I order you to.”

“WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOU.” Came the fierce response to your right.

‘I just wanted to eat my lunch...’ Cries internally.

The silver haired demon could only sweat drop at the chaos.

Ding Dong

You’re FREE! Finally! Now to go home, do your homework, eat more food, maybe a bit of house cleaning, and finally some peace and quie-

Ironically, fate would not leave you along as you trip over a certain avian demon.

‘Shit.’

Both of you could only groan, you from bashing your chin on the ground, and him from being kneed in the head.

“Oh. It’s you! Are you alright?” He asked.

“Y-yeah, sorry about that...”

“...”

“Well, see you around I guess...”

“Wait.”

‘Noooooo. Lemme leave, I’m sorry, Delkira have mercy.’

“Why’d you lie?”

“Huh?” Yes, brilliant, wonderful, such grace, much eloquence.

“When Opera-senpai asked you why you covered for us, why’d you lie? Surely this would only bring you more trouble now that you’re associated with Kalego-kun and I.”

“... I... couldn’t really think of anything else on the spot... I really did just want to eat my lunch.”

“Hmm?” His ears were ringing... but it didn’t seem like you were gonna tell the truth anytime soon.

“My ambition is to survive but I guess my actions don’t really reflect that...”

“...”

“Ah, sorry, I’m talking too much I need to go now.”

“Hey wai-” but no sound came out.

In fact, it seemed eerily quiet... and no matter what he did there wasn’t anything to hear.

It wasn’t any surprise that you would say something like that, demons are naturally selfish creatures. If you were truly looking out for your own it was understandable if not dismissive for any other possible reason.

If only that were the case.

The way home was better walked than flown, and taking great care you made sure that your leave of the main road was unnoticeable, turning instead into the woods. Not that it was ever noticed in the first place but it was whatever.

And you eased your pace only when you entered the muted section of forest you called home, unlocked the door to your empty house, and promptly plopped on the couch. Yes, this small muted lot of land, and the house, were the last things your clan left to you before disappearing into thin air.

You were young... errr... younger when it happened. And you speculated that, maybe you were too loud to stay with them as a child, then again all demon children were... Your clan was one that taught silence early. They were also a more nomadic clan, since they couldn’t hide their physique (like the Purson clan), they opted to remain on the move. This was greatly assisted by their bloodline magic and resonance with the wilderness.

And still... you didn’t like to think of why you were left behind, just knew that you had to get stronger quickly so you could... could what? catch up? continue waiting? No, for now you needed to maintain the muted zones around the house, who knows how much longer they’d hold.

So you get up and you do just that, imbuing the zones with your mana, and ensuring your home’s security. (Most predators preferred not to enter where they’re deaf and dumb, unable to hear and unable to call for help if needed.) You were grateful they at least left you this place to return to and impressed that their mana had yet to fade, but better safe than sorry.

Yes, this is how you lived for the past four years. Safe, quiet, alone...

Homework time!

Dismissing the sad and intrusive thoughts, you move onto something more productive.

Okay--

I don't normally give characters deadnames. I only have one for Byakuya here because I've made transphobia relevant in this, plus it's for ease of reference. I also kinda threw in stuff about the ByaHisa OC at the end because it goes in tandem with the headcanons, so cw for a brief mention of seahorse dad Byakuya I guess (google it)

Here we are, back in the 18th century, to the birth of a one Kuroishi Kuchiki. Initially planned to just be the first born child of Sojun, upon realizing how poor his and his wife's health are, they settled for just one.

The little girl never behaved in a way they deemed standard. Rambunctious and wild, playing in the mud, eating things she shouldn't, cussing at Ginrei etc etc...

And here's something else they realized, this child never taking any interest in men. Ever. While Sojun was more or less happy to have a surviving child at all, Ginrei wasn't so complacent. How is the Kuchiki line going to continue if the granddaughter doesn't like boys?

Homophobia and transphobia aren't exactly as standard in the Soul Society as you'd expect, they're mostly tolerant of it due to Shunsui and Jushiro being as openly queer as they are. But let's just say that the Kuchiki family was a bit more, let's say old fashioned. Didn't quite move on with the times as much as others did.

Thoughts maybe spread of just getting little Kuro a husband and telling her to fake it until she makes it. But Kuro herself told her father something they didn't expect, something that threw a wrench in their ideas even more.

That "she" hated being called Kuroishi, or just Kuro, or the Kuchiki Clan Daughter, that being a boy fit better. That Byakuya fit better. Sojun accepted his boy with open arms, again not nearly as concerned with grandkids. Considering how much struggle it took to have Byakuya, and how he'd never have any other kids, Byakuya's happiness was top priority to him. But the pride of the Kuchiki family seemed to matter more to Ginrei.

At first, their decision was to completely ignore Byakuya's gender expression. To disregard it, make him pretend to be Kuro his entire life, marry a man, and continue the line. The child was finally happy with who he was, after 150 or so years! Who were they to try and take that away from him?!

So he ran, ran off into a certain Rukongai district you might remember. A little district called Inuzuri.

He'd have to face them again eventually, and he'd be in deep shit when he did, but maybe he thought to himself that he was prolonging the inevitable. He'd started considering rash measures, and even almost took a plummet.

But then, a local girl saved him. Kept him away talking things through with him. They sat down together, trying to understand what was going on.

"They're considering pretending I'm a girl. I mean, I was born one. But I'm not a girl. But they're going to make me be a girl so that I could be a good Kuchiki like I'm supposed to. Auntie couldn't have kids and I'm my father's only son, so I'm really their only hope." The girl managed to make Byakuya admit, after talking him off a ledge. It's the first time he verbalized his thoughts, it was kind of cathartic. Listening, she gave him a pat on the back.

"I know what it feels like. Kind of. I mean, I was never a noble or anything, but... I get the feeling of parents trying to make you pretend to be your born gender to look good, when that's never how you've felt."

A friend, a friend who could understand him. That's what Byakuya needed. He was far detached from people, how could anyone understand the life of Byakuya Kuchiki? There was no one. Everyone in the other three clans were a bunch of shabby grownups he assumed were cis who were fine with their position, but Byakuya was a child. A child who was confused, told by his father to live his life by his own rules and for himself, yet told by his grandfather to live life for the clan. As a kid, he just couldn't choose! He couldn't understand himself, how could anyone understand him?

But this girl, she got him. They understood each other, even if they lived in different worlds!

Byakuya started sneaking off to see this girl, the girl by the name of Hisana. If he wasn't training, at a meeting, or talking to his dad, he was sneaking out to meet Hisana. So many times, in fact, that it made Ginrei angry. He was beginning to demand that Byakuya be wed by someone who will keep him down. And Byakuya ran away again, but this time, with slightly different intentions.

"Hisana, I know we're not dating, but will you please marry me?"

Huh? Hisana was taken aback by his asking. Where did this come from? He went on, saying that she deserved better and he could provide her with luxury. That she didn't deserve to suffer, cold and alone.

One condition, she said.

He asked, what condition? Oh, I'll do anything!

She said that she'll marry him if the Kuchiki family swears to find and adopt her baby sibling (brother or sister depends on whether it coexists with t4t RenRuki or not lol) Of course, Byakuya agreed.

How to convince the Kuchiki family? She was but a scruffy 17-20 year old that'd been dead for a few years at this point. Byakuya was Byakuya. For years, Ginrei was not budging, up until Hisana revealed to them that she was trans. Then, his attitude began to change.

Their marriage would be allowed! There was one condition. They'd have to have a kid. Then Byakuya's gender identity would be respected, and history would be rewritten. Rewritten to believe that Byakuya was always a male, and that Kuro never existed. Telling the world that Hisana was pregnant with the child of the Kuchiki family after the fact, hiding all truth from the Soul Society. Byakuya was scared at first, but this was better. The best case scenario, even if it was already terrifying.

Once they were both considered "adults," they were married.

A year into the marriage, off in his study Byakuya spent his days, writing and doing calligraphy. Out in the Rukongai Hisana continued to spend her days, looking and searching for the missing child, joining the search parties made up by Kuchiki servants. A year they spent majorly apart, as Byakuya wasn't permitted to go anywhere for some time. One day, she's frantically ordered back to the manor. She left the search party, being escorted home. There she was, entering the manor, assuming the worst. But instead, there Byakuya was, sat there with their baby son.

Instantly, Hisana loved him. While she was concerned at first that he'd just feel like a tool to make them learn to respect Byakuya, she instantly was drawn to the bubbly little baby. Ginrei stayed true to his word. History was rewritten, and they even faked a maternity picture with Hisana. The Kuchiki family was satisfied, and Byakuya and Hisana were happy! The only thing that would make it all better would be if the child that Hisana left behind was with them too.

While Byakuya took on a primary caring role for their son, Hisana helped of course. She still joined searches all the time, but started to do so every other day instead. She had two priorities in life, and she tried her best to balance them.

But then, Hisana fell ill. She couldn't go anywhere, helping search or helping raise her son. A few years following, she'd be bedridden. Byakuya would visit her at every opportunity, talking to her about anything to make her feel better. Though usually, it was about their son's development. He showed her when their son could walk, made him repeat things when he started to talk. That, and anything to make her smile. She slowly lost her ability to sit up, and he'd still visit her every day with their son. But one day, her energy was gone. She could hardly even look at them, but he still came by. He held her hand, with their son in his other arm. As he swore once more on his promise to find her baby sibling, she passed away. And from then on forward, Byakuya took after his grandfather more and more, without the influence of his father or his wife, his humanity couldn't cling on. It became repressed into the deepest recesses of his mind. His smile died with his wife.

*breathes in* you are so terrible to be enabling me like this, anon Anyway here are my hot takes: 1. People need to draw Zhongli with silk flowers much more so than with glaze lilies. Glaze lilies are Guizhong’s signature flower, so unless the work is him contemplating Guizhong, I feel like it shouldn’t have them when it's a Zhongli centric work- where his signature flowers are silk flowers (as noted in Customs of Liyue).

Speaking of which, I think it’s interesting bc while glaze lilies are very fragile flowers that need extra care to be taken care of similar to people that have not much “use” besides being gorgeous, silk flowers are multipurpose: can be used to spun silk, extracted into perfume, and can be used in desserts as it is naturally sweet. So while Guizhong’s flower is a seemingly useless but ephemeral flower that blooms at the sound of music, Zhongli’s is a pragmatic one with many uses. It feels like it represents their characters well, and my headcanon is that Zhongli used to not appreciate glaze lilies as much, but have come fond of them similar to his love for mortals- which Guizhong teaches him about. 2. His non-canon animal should be a tortoise, not a rabbit. Idk where to even start with this one??? How did people decide to keep drawing him as a bunny??? Is it bc he has 2 ahoges or like bunnies were common animal tropes in MDZS idk like he’s so much a tortoise- slow, old, wise, defense based, like its all there and when I’m done drawing the stuff I’m drawing, I’m drawing TortoLi and it will just be for myself bc I’m gonna get resounding boos. 3. ALSO another thing I need to draw is a fluffy Zhongli bc he’s theoretically also half qilin and not afraid of the cold. It’s cute to see him freezing in the cold but adeptus in general are less affected by temperature. Fighting anyone who thinks he gets cold like a lizard (ง •̀_•́)ง (However I’m super fond of Zhongli accepting Childe’s scarf in the cold because he thinks its cute that Childe cares for him and feels rude to not take the gesture of goodwill [but if Childe seems too cold then he will return it]) 4. Another headcanon I have is that Zhongli has the ability to see the memory of stone just like Azhdaha, as Zhongli was the one to give Azhdaha his eyes in the first place. I think it gives an extra layer for why Zhongli is so fond of gems, because he can also see how much effort and skill is put into certain ones and ofc he’d love to have those memories for himself- the memories of the culture and work of his people.

5. I just really want a training domain that you can test dmg for- or just a weekly boss domain for Zhongli. But like its the most tedious, boring boss fight ever. You get dragged into his domain that looks like its in the clouds/mountains where the opening cutscene is him sitting down at a table and drinks tea. Which isn't bad until you realize he opens up with a 100mill HP shield. While you're in tears chucking down in vain at his shield bar, he's monologuing and correcting various Liyue tales like cycling through 10 or so of them thats randomized but each one is a good 5min monologue of voiced text. Nothing else goes on, just senior citizen ASMR. Theres only 2 ways to beat him: a) let him finish talking b) destroy his shield + reduce his hp to zero (he has like 1bill hp) Where he just simply leaves after he’s done talking or you beat him. Leyline pops up and you win! So on one hand! You can listen to him or go afk!! But on the other hand whales can show off their big pp dmg. But that's it. Thats his fight.
