Okay so i've seen in your previous posts that you said you don't write for barty jr as a central character but imma request anyways and maybe just maybe i'm lucky and you do end up writing this request (no pressure tho sweetie)
Basically a Ravenclaw reader x reg x barty. Reader is a total sweetheart but also very witty, playful and sassy in a sweet way. and marauders are also involved in the fic. (Maybe reader is neighbors with James or maybe she's beasties with rem. I don't mind. you decide that.)

“Reggiiieeeee.” Barty whined as he walked into their shared dorm room where Regulus had been reading due to the fact that Barty had taken up residence in the Slytherin common room, making reading nearly impossible.
Regulus stifled a sigh and offered a begrudging “yes, my love?” as Barty belly-flopped onto the bed and muttered something (unintelligible) miserably into the velvet quilts.
“I’m sorry, what was that?” Regulus asked, deciding to bookmark his place and give his boyfriend his undivided attention (anything less could end up being detrimental to both Regulus and Barty’s safety).
Barty lifted his head with a pout on his lips to look at Regulus. “How mad do you think Y/N would be if I killed Potter and his friends?”
Point proven. 
“I’m sorry, what?” Regulus deadpanned, causing Barty to groan and roll onto his side.
“It’s just she’s always spending so much time with them and they’re all so annoying. And I don’t want to tell her to not hang out with them” (that was a lie; Regulus has heard Barty tell you that the Marauders were 'no good company to keep' well over hundreds of times) “so, I thought it’d just be better if they...disappeared, you know?”
“What have you done?” Regulus groaned darkly, causing Barty to chuckle.
“Nothing! Nothing...” yet. 
“You do realize that your hit list includes my brother, right?” Regulus asked.
Barty looked at him like he was sort of stupid. “Uhm...duh, it’s called hitting two bludgers with one beater-bat. Do keep up.”
“Barty, you are going to scare her away...” Regulus pressed. “...you’re kind of scaring me away.”
Barty’s groan nearly turned into a shriek as he threw himself back down onto the bed in defeat.
“Fine. But when we’re trying to enjoy a nice moment with Y/N and Potter and his cronies interrupt, it will be all your fault.” 
And with that Barty got up and stormed out of the dorm room. Regulus sighed in relief and pulled his book back out.
So, when the three of you were wandering around Hogsmeade (i.e., you and Regulus were walking hand-in-hand whilst Barty followed, balancing precariously on the stone walls of bridges as well as some fences lining various properties (much to the shop clerks and homeowners’ chagrin), pausing to pet every cat he could find and seeing how many times he could skip stones in the pond [the answer was none, he kept throwing them too hard]), Regulus got proven wrong (somehow), and (even more importantly) Barty got proven right when Sirius, James, Peter, and Remus showed up.
“Hey guys!” You called cheerily, and Regulus was almost ashamed to admit that your sweet smile and kind voice cancelled out any chagrin that the appearance of his brother caused him.
“Hello gorgeous! Baby bro.” Sirius called with a wink, causing Regulus to roll his eyes.
“Can I help you four!?” Barty nearly screeched as he showed up seemingly out of nowhere, all but standing directly in front of you like he was trying to shield you from the sight a particularly horrifying broom crash.
“Barty...” You chided jovially, gently nudging him aside. “They’re just saying hello.”
Sirius looked rather chuffed that you had defended them. Regulus didn’t like that one bit.
“Okay, well hello. You can leave now.” Barty shouted.
“Oh, lighten up, Junior.” Remus called with a smirk. “We’re all friends here.” 
Barty scoffed. “I’d rather shit in my hands and clap than be friends with Gryffindor’s.”
“Ew.” Everyone else said in response.
“Come on, my sweet, beautiful, angelic, lovely, smart, wonderful girl. I don’t want you or our beautiful day to be tainted by such scoundrels.” He cooed at you like you were some toddler on the verge of tears from having dropped your ice cream on the ground.
You groaned a little bit but acquiesced, allowing Barty to turn your body in the opposite direction.
“Sorry guys. I’ll see you tomorrow for our study date!” You called over your shoulder, to which Barty quickly counteracted with a “no you won’t!”
“You know, love,” Regulus murmured into your ear, “you’d probably save him a little bit of grief if you at least didn’t call it a date.” 
“Perhaps. But look at him now.” You whispered back conspiratorially. “He’s holding my hand and talking a mile a minute about how much of his dad’s money he wants to spend on us at Tomes & Scroll’s.”
Regulus couldn’t help but smirk at that. 
A Ravenclaw may have been smart enough to come up with a plan like this, but only the influence of your two Slytherin boyfriends would have made you cunning enough to pull it off.

The possibilities of meeting Graves for the first time are endless, but I have two in mind!
The first scenario is a typical but well-loved meet cute at a café, or a bookstore or better; a book café! With you and him standing in one corner of the counter, waiting for your drinks. Graves has zero problems in offering you a polite smile, only for his amusement to grow when you return the smile, albeit a smaller one, before immediately averting your gaze. 
The barista’s taking a while to make your drinks, so after some time, he thought of just striking up a conversation.
“They’re sure takin’ their sweet time.” Was the first thing he said to you. A lighthearted comment—you would’ve been more worried if he was more gruff about it, and you weren’t even a worker there.
You nod, huffing in amusement while looking at the dishevelled teenager, “They don’t usually take this long.”
Graves nods along and though he asks you some things, such as if you were a regular customer or if you had any recommendations, regardless of whether it was sweet treats or any novels you may have stumbled upon (even if he’s not a fan of reading, he may or may not like the way you slowly yet surely open up with him), he keeps them a bare minimum. He doesn’t want you to feel forced, especially since he began the conversation.
Soon, the barista finally completes your order, but unfortunately, it’s prepared wrongly. 
Yours were hot while Graves was iced. The complete opposite of what you and he asked for.
He was perceptive, seeing you grimace but also ready to just accept whatever was offered, Graves spoke up.
“Excuse me, kid, but I’m pretty sure you got our orders mixed up,” You would’ve panicked if it wasn’t for his cordial approach. Disappointed or not, he had no problem hiding it. And even so, you couldn’t help but feel bad when they heard the dreadful words. They must’ve faced a harsher customer in the past. 
Graves was quick to reassure them, even telling them to take the mistaken orders and share with a colleague, much to your surprise. Of course, you weren’t expecting him to lash out, not right away, at least, but you weren’t blind to his… lifestyle. Just from the way he carried himself, you knew he must be some kind of a ‘man of the hour’. That, and the way he dressed/his items i.e. his laptop bag, phone. 
And yet, you never saw him as one of those unapproachable degenerates. Thinking they were high and mighty, maybe even cause a ruckus and gain some kind of benefit out of it. He was confident, sure, but he could’ve just ignored you the whole time, much like now. 
“Thank you.” You thanked him softly when the barista, with the weight seemingly lifted off their shoulders, went back to make you and Graves’ orders again. 
“It’s no problem. Thought y’might need a little help.” So he did notice. You wanted the floor to swallow you whole for not hiding your emotion better, but something about his smile, his lack of judgement, it didn’t make you feel too bad about it all. 
Plus, you couldn’t lie and say he wasn’t easy on the eye, either.
Bonus if you decide to take a leap and accept his offer of sitting together at the window seat, especially if it’s during the lunch rush! The two of you may become regulars at the café and soon enough, you exchange numbers!
The second scenario is actually part of a mini-series that I’m working on (read: collecting dust), with you being a florist! While I won’t spoil a whole lot, it involves our beloved Shiba Inu. By now, we all know Kai is extremely playful, borderline mischievous if it means being a loving pain in Graves’ ass. 
So, after looking away for a moment, only to find Kai making a mess out of some flower shop owner’s potted flowers, he’s initially more disappointed (but not surprised) than worried. But nothing a little Southern charm and a bit of reimbursement can’t solve. 
That is until he sees you.
And while this revelation wouldn’t leave him to tuck his tail between his legs, I can see him going like ‘oh’, turning away for a second to swear under his breath before putting on his award-winning smile. But in all honesty, there’s a tad bit of guilt in it, especially after he overhears you forgive Kai, who, surprisingly, is whimpering in front of you, despite your soft tone.
Oh, how Graves could never forget your voice. 
Upon approaching you at the front door, he immediately apologizes, and unlike other times where he’s trying to rush the conversation so it could all be said and done, he’s very patient with you, partially praying that you were with him, too. There’s just something so magnetic about you that he doesn’t want the conversation to end so soon. But with your bashfulness, he knows not to overwhelm you either, which was funny, since he never particularly thinks about that with others.
And from there, he has an inkling that you may be one of the few people he’s willing to learn more about while considering his own personality. So, while he doesn’t shy away from showing you his romantic side, and spoils you a whole lot, too, he also lets you know about his more ‘disliked’ personality. On days when you and he are more heart-to-heart with each other, he tells you about the side of him where he has to play offence to be the person that he is. He wants to be as transparent with you as possible, so you won’t catch a ‘whiplash’ with how he treats you versus how he treats others.
Whichever the cases may be, while he is persuasive, knowing that you’re one of a kind, he knows this is something he has to be patient about, and frankly, he’s more than fine with it. If you have a history of bad dating experiences, then you best believe that he’s willing to show you just how much you mean to him, and hopefully, vice versa. Graves isn’t one to think about a committed relationship, mostly because he never found one and with his line of work, it’s a lot to think about, but he is more than willing to adapt to the new changes (and finally spoil ‘the one’) for you.

Any tips for making a legacy, for lack of a better term, weirder? I've worked pretty much every occult possible into the family tree but I feel like I get too focused on just maintaining needs and normal daily family life for them, especially since I prefer to keep everyone more or less happy (i.e. no tragic early deaths). The most exciting things I've really done are turn one sim into a Global Superstar and marry off another one to the Grim Reaper, and sometimes I pause aging for a bit to spend more time on certain plots. Your legacy is obviously pretty wild so I wondered how you go about coming up with ideas like Michael Bublé Christmas Getaways and Charlie's Angels Spy Squads haha
This is a great question!! Let me see if I can dig up a good enough answer for it 😂

The reason Gens 1-3 are barely mentioned on here is because in reality there wasn't really anything interesting that happened in them. I wanted to hide away from the stress of a worldwide pandemic and watch my sims garden for a while. No real rules, just something to relax.

Gen 4 was a slight departure since I was getting a little tired of my sims doing the same thing over and over, and I decided to do the opposite and move them to a penthouse in the city as a refreshing change.

And as I started playing with more gameplay mods that added extra moodlets- the chance of hysterical death rose exponentially. My Gen 4 heir died when my Gen 5 heir, Hinoki was just a kid. So I decided to keep him around as a ghost while my Gen 3 heir worked on grinding out the ingredients for Ambrosia and Reed (Gen 4) continued to follow his political aspirations to become the first Ghost President of Simerica.

And this is where we find the nexus point of weird. And here's the biggest (not so secret) secret to it. The beginning of Gen 5 is when I started actually sharing my gameplay.
Not publicly, but with a small group of friends and simmers on a discord, like I've mentioned before here. Suddenly I wasn't just playing for myself, I was very slowly starting to play to make my friends laugh- to see how they reacted whenever I would leave little updates. And I found I really enjoyed that!

I started contriving little scenarios- what if Hinoki slept with her husband's band mate and had a secret child. And then someone would pop in and say she might have to run away for a while to Tartosa to have a baby. This independent toddler trait gives baby Val such a stink face- oh you should put him in a tiny leopard print robe to match. And it became this back and forth of - you know what would be funny?

I was started going off the rule from my friend @anotherplumbob that my first born would be the heir, so i had the fun task of figuring out how to get from point A to point B with Valerian, and what the hell point B even looked like.
We knew he was evil- he killed his dad as a toddler, and was just a full creep through his entire childhood- and so I started asking, what story do I want to tell my friends? I love romcoms, I love spy movies- what would be fun for me?

We're all influenced by our environments, the art, media, and music we consume, and that's all directly reflected into what we decide to put back out into the world.

And through exploring those characters, through playing the game, through my friends throwing the weirdest suggestions at me - what if he made a robot copy of his childhood Nanny? Okay, what mods can I use to reflect that in my gameplay? - What if he 3D printed a baby? - What if the Volcano gave them another baby? (this one is never happening shooby) - The whole thing spiraled out of control 😂
SO TDLR- How can you make your legacy weirder?
Find a community or even a couple trusted friends to bounce ideas off of. The amount of time I've spent conniving and scheming with @doctorsimcraft should honestly be studied. Write for yourself and like the 4 people you care most about. Enthusiasm is infectious. Find some good gameplay mods to add color to your gameplay- More Personality Please is an absolute game changer. Wicked Whims and Lumpinou's RPO are also fantastic additions if that's your style. Hopefully the game throws you some fun curveballs. Adversity and conflict breed interesting story - or something like that. Think about the types of stories that you would be excited to tell- really lean into your favorite tropes and themes. It's not a checklist, it's just like - I really love campy spies, I really love enemies to lovers - what do I do in game to make this happen. Find your story and let drive your gameplay- not the other way around. Or find a good balance and see what happens.
And to be honest I've very much lost that balance and fallen into a total rut of letting the story overtake the gameplay. So whenever I get too overwhelmed by my stupid large ambitions I just sit down and play and see where the game takes me.
I hope I can get back to not posing every single scene out for Gen 7 but I also love making poses, and breaking my game in every way to be able to tell the stories I want to!
It's why I'm so comically slow now. But I guess that just means we get to spend more time getting to know our characters, which I do genuinely enjoy.

Shoto Todoroki, Hitoshi Shinsou, and Izuku Midoriya dating Male!Malleus Draconia!Reader; I feel Todoroki and him would get into (accidental) mischief, Shinsou would be so tired (but so in love), and Midoriya would be very doting.

Neither of you know how to properly court someone, but you both figure it out together. You tell him the dragon courting norms as well as the general fae courting norms, so now he knows what you are trying to do when you give him an expensive necklace to wear. However, since training could possibly damage the jewelry, he keeps it in his room.
I think his dad actually approves of you considering you’re very strong in magic (that you call your ‘quirk’). But Shoto really didn’t care about his father’s approval because he would be with you anyway. You both really understood each other because you both were raised to be great in one way or another (you a king, him a hero).
Now, it wouldn’t be My Hero Academia if there wasn’t any chaos. There were a few different scenarios where times were great, but a lot of the time you both were trying to clean up the mess of a class. However, he constantly got ticked off by Bakugo’s incompetence as did you. You once even put a magic muzzle on the angry Pomeranian in the hopes that you would get some peace and quiet.
That caused most of the class to laugh, including your lovely boyfriend. I mean, his usually very reserved but majestic significant other put a muzzle on a person to get them to shut up. Who wouldn’t be dying of laughter?

Hitoshi Shinso
You were an outcast like he was, and you were very intriguing to him. You once tried to answer him back when he tried to stop you, but you were completely immune to the power of his quirk. In addition to that, you didn’t see his quirk as villainous, because you had the magic to do something similar.
The two of you often go into each other’s dorms just to nap over the weekends. Shinso is very tired and often needs a break, and you are often attention-starved so it works out. Plus, since the two of you were guys, it was allowed for you to spend the night at his dormitory.
There was a time where you both decided to get some angry training in, and it was just basic fighting skills. You looked absolutely ravishing to Hitoshi in your t-shirt and sweatpants; even though it was a basic outfit, you wore it well. Don’t even get me started about how you won and you were left straddling his waist. 
Because of that, he wanted to keep fighting. It mostly came from him wanting to continue seeing you in more relaxed clothing when he realized that you were wearing one of his shirts. His cold heart just about melted right then and there.

Izuku Midoriya
This man has a minimum of 3 notebooks dedicated to you; 1 is about the extent of your magic, 1 is about things he might need to remember about you in your relationship (I.e. you like ice cream), and the last 1 contains information you have told him about your homeland of Briar Valley.
He might be a bit insecure about being your boyfriend because you were so great and he used to be a quirkless nobody. You tend to be insecure because you aren’t used to having someone this close to you and you don’t know what to do. So, this all works out to be a very insecure-but-developing relationship.
Izuku is a downright simp for his boyfriend. You call him more formal nicknames like ‘darling’ or ‘beloved’, and it leaves him so flustered. Gently hold his face in your hand as you look into his eyes and he is melting. He is a lovesick fool, and if he had that on a t-shirt he would wear it with pride.
Whenever he gets hurt, you tend to scold him. You use your magic to heal him, and it’s such an intimate thing as well. Speaking of intimacy, whenever you stay the night at his dorm you wake him up in the morning by placing a kiss upon his lips, waking him up from his ‘curse’.

Okay this ended up being quite long but here goes
Here’s what the hoist and track look like:

ID: a pink and white hoist running along a ceiling track with a black spreader bar hanging down. The spreader bar is a metal pole hanging from a strap in the middle. The bar is padded with black foam. At each end of the bar are three hooks. /end ID
The track is like a metal train track that goes from one end of the ceiling to the other.
The hoist runs along the track and has a spreader bar that is lifted up and down by some kind of winch system. I wear a sling that has loops which connect to the bar and allow me to be lifted up and down and moved from one position to another.
We position whatever I’m moving between (like my wheelchair or shower chair) under the track and this allows me to move between them in a way that is safe for me and my carer.
You can get fancier tracks which have and x and y axis which enable you to move to any point in the room. These are common in changing places toilets where it’s not possible to position everything (wheelchair, changing table and toilet) in a straight line under a single track. Unfortunately for me I don’t have one at home because they are even more expensive than this set up.
Here’s a picture of me being lifted (the sling is supposed to support my head a bit better than shows here but got a bit bunched up and we weren’t doing a proper transfer so left it):

The whole thing is powered by a remote control with buttons for up down left and right. Some are only powered up and down and a carer moves the hoist along the track manually. Having it powered along the track means that when I’m able to (i.e. if I’m not wearing my splints and I’m having a good strength/ motor control day) I can control all the movement up, down and along. When I’m not able to use the controller my carer does everything for me.
You can also see one of my slings in this photo. The sling you use will be specific to each person based on your size, height, mobility and how much support you need. It looks quite simple, but there’s a lot more to it than it might seem.
Some slings support your entire body including your head while others just go under your legs and lower back if you have enough trunk control. Many slings, like mine here, come with different length loops which are colour coded and allow different seating positions (from sitting upright to laying right back). An OT should be able to tell you the sort of sling you need, how to fit it and which loops to use when.
In general it is often safer to use a sling which doesn’t stay under you while in your wheelchair but is instead removed at the end of each transfer and fitted at the beginning of the next one. This is because sitting in the extra fabric and lack of air flow can cause issues with pressure and skin breakdown.
For me this isn’t possible because I can’t safely lean forwards to allow the sling to be positioned behind me. Because of this I use an in situ sling (which you can see in the photo) This provides a lot of support and is made of special fabric that allows it to circulate air and reduce the risk of skin breakdowns while it stays under me in my wheelchair all day. This particular sling is also designed to safely allow for contractions and involuntary movements in a way I don’t understand but definitely works.
I also have a separate toileting sling which has an opening in the bottom to allow me to use the toilet while still having the support of the sling/ hoist.

Idk if you’ve ever fully answered this on your blog but: DO YOU THINK Bishop fully redeemed himself in the future? By becoming president and uniting all races? Or is he still 🗑️
Oh man no, I don't think Bishop's Good Guy act is all that genuine. I think there's some change, but at his base, beneath all the subterfuge, he's still the same guy. I may have gone over this on the blog before, but like ey what am I gonna just get handed this opportunity to ramble ad nauseum and not take it? NEVER
There are a few pieces of evidence we can read into regarding the faux-ness of Bishop's new persona. First and foremost, for me, is the two instances where he presents the turtles with his "origin story," so to speak. In each instance, he keeps the details vague, and is very hesitant to admit to any direct wrong-doing on his part. The first story is so vague on the details that it feels like he's trying to brush past the turtles' concerns as quickly as possible. The SECOND, though. Bishop consistently dances around going into any detail about what he did or why it was wrong. And he goes on to push all of the blame onto Stockman! I mean honestly, he says Stockman "took things too far." Like dude!! We already know nothing is "too far" for you! It's very suspect to me that the subsequent lab collapse could have been ALL Stockman's fault. Bishop also elevates his own accomplishments and takes full credit for the success of the PGA. Idk but there's something really insidious to me about how he presents the information to make himself look as good as possible-- and the way he's able to convince at least a few of his former enemies that he's trustworthy.
There are other little inconsistencies in his behavior, like him writing off the turtles' warnings about Sh'Okanabo. The Bishop I know is a paranoid freak, he would never in a million years brush off a lead on a possible threat without checking it at all. And if we assume that, then that suggests Bishop said as much to give the turtles the impression it wasn't something worth looking into, meaning he was probably trying to direct their attention away for some reason. All of this tells me (if we just. ignore the possibility of it being a writing flaw agdhgshd) that Bishop is still a very cold and calculating personality, fully willing to throw others to the wolves for his own purposes, but he is WAY better at manipulting, now.
I've said before that I find it likely Bishop's weakest point is his social skills; we see that his superior officers (i.e. the president) dislike him-- which, frankly, is a detriment to his cause as it put his funding in jeopardy at least once that we know of-- and everyone he meets tends to come away some level of discomfitted. So what FF presents us with is a Bishop who needed to improve these skills for the sake of his ultimate goal. If the safety of earth requires friendly relations with aliens, then he needed to become an ambassador, and if he needed to become an ambassador, then he needed to be less overtly unpleasant. Thus, he changed tack. As a result, we have someone who appears trustworthy and is very good at lying and directing your attention, but is just as utilitarian as ever under the mask. That's just his job, after all.
Other details include:
- His intro. We see Bishop personally taking time out to go through monitors all over the city. He apparently has a very thorough surveillance system that he reviews himself. Again, paranoid freak.
- When addressing the turtles, we sometimes see him slip back into snarkier comments. This usually happens when he's frustrated (snapping at them for not attacking the Mouser fast enough for his tastes,) or when he's not being obeyed (making a snide comment about Cody having nightmares when they refuse to exclude him from a mission briefing.)
- As my friend Trauma pointed out to me recently, when storming the moonbase Bishop's men had their guns defaulted to lethal force, he had to give the order to switch to non-lethal. He was fully ready to wipe that place out.
- His willingness to include the turtles and later Cody on missions strikes me as, yknow, very utilitarian in its own right. Cuz those are teenagers, yeah. It could be argued that Bishop can't tell how old the turtles are but he definitely knows Cody is young, and knows well enough that he shouldn't be in a combat situation. But in the finale he praises Cody's decision to defy him and fight anyway. So what changed? In essence, Cody was effective. Bishop is fine with child soldiers as long as they do a good job (and can't be publicly traced back to him.)
Also like did you see that car chase? He ran civilians off the road and did not give a FUCK. That's the same guy.

Lisa Frankenstein is a vibes movie. Despite having been heavily marketed on the fact that it was written by Diablo Cody, the writer of Jennifer's Body (who has said that the two films take place in the same universe), her screenplay is actually one of the film's weak links, falling apart in the third act as the plot starts to get weird and disjointed in a way that left me wondering just how many scenes got rewritten or left on the cutting room floor. No, it's the cast and director Zelda Williams (daughter of Robin) who put this movie over the top, crafting a film that feels like if a young Tim Burton directed Weird Science in the best possible way. (In the interview with Cody that the Alamo Drafthouse showed before the film, she cited both Weird Science and Edward Scissorhands as inspirations, alongside Bride of Frankenstein and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, and I'm not surprised.) It's at its best as a pure comedy, one that sends up its nostalgic '80s setting to the point of farce and pushes the PG-13 rating as far as it can go. I'm not surprised that, much like Jennifer's Body did in its initial run, this movie failed to find its audience in theaters (though releasing it on Super Bowl weekend probably didn't help), but while I don't think it'll be treated as an outright classic in ten years' time, I do believe it'll follow a very similar trajectory of being rediscovered on home video and streaming.
Set in suburban Illinois in 1989, our protagonist is Lisa Swallows, a teenage girl who's been moody and morose ever since her mom was killed by an axe murderer two years ago, followed by her father Dale remarrying the obnoxious jackass Janet and thus gaining a stepsister in the cheerleader Taffy. She likes to hang out at the old cemetery, where, one night after going to a party where she accidentally takes hallucinogens and subsequently gets sexually harassed, she runs off and tells one of the men buried there that she wishes she was "with him" (i.e. dead). Something must've been miscommunicated, because that night, that grave is struck by lightning and its occupant rises from the dead, trying to find Lisa and be with her. Lisa is initially horrified, but soon realizes that, beneath this creature's rotten exterior, there's actually a romantic soul who longs to be human again. And after tragedy strikes, Lisa decides to find a way to make her new boyfriend's dream a reality... no matter who gets in her way.
The first two acts of this film felt like they were building to something very interesting. The thing about the best takes on Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, not least of all the 1931 Universal classic, is that they recognize that the real "monster" is in fact Dr. Frankenstein himself, the creature's creator, and this film leans heavily in that direction with its depiction of Lisa. She eagerly starts killing people in order to build the perfect boyfriend, getting sucked into darkness as she's blinded by love, and Kathryn Newton completely steals the show playing her, starting the film as a dowdy, depressed dweeb but eventually developing a gothic fashion sense and, with it, a catty diva-like attitude while channeling a young Winona Ryder in both Beetlejuice and Heathers. There were many places that this film could've gone, most of them involving Lisa becoming a full-bore villain while Taffy suddenly finds herself in her stepsister's path, with the creature either serving as Lisa's partner in crime from start to finish or perhaps slowly gaining a sense of morality as he becomes more "human" and realizing that Lisa is evil. All the while, the Frankenstein metaphor becomes one about somebody who'd do anything for love, including that, and loses herself in the process. And at times, it seemed to be going in that direction, especially as Taffy grows increasingly traumatized over the course of the film.
Unfortunately, whether it was the PG-13 rating or a desire to make Lisa more sympathetic (and Taffy less so), the film won't commit to the bit. Lisa's characterization does a near-total 180 in the third act as the film asks us to side with her as, at the very least, a sympathetic anti-villain with good intentions. Lisa should've been the bad guy that the film was building her up as, no ifs, ands, or buts -- a sympathetic and compelling one like Jennifer Check, but still somebody who crossed the line miles ago and never looked back. It would've given Liza Soberano, who plays Taffy and will probably be the breakout star of this film, more to do instead of making her a supporting player in Lisa's story who plays only a minor role in the third act. Instead, it felt like I was watching a whole new character entirely that just so happened to share Lisa's name and face. I highly suspect that there's a lot of alternate material here, either in earlier drafts of the screenplay or deleted scenes, because the sudden tonal shift in the third act feels like a product of a completely different movie.
What saved this film in the end were the style and the humor. Much like Karyn Kusama on Jennifer's Body, Zelda Williams imbues this film with a ton of gothic flair, Lisa's outfits being just the start of it, inspired by Tim Burton and, by extension, the German expressionism that he in turn drew from. The bright pink suburban house that Lisa and her family live in is almost cartoonish, and draws a sharp contrast to the world around it. The moment we're introduced to Carla Gugino as Lisa's stepmother, a hilariously over-the-top parody of an '80s suburban mom who needlessly antagonizes Lisa every chance she gets, and Joe Chrest as her spectacularly inattentive father who looks the part of a wholesome suburban dad but otherwise can't be bothered to look up from his newspaper, we see exactly the kind of people who'd happily live in a house like that. There are multiple animated sequences that liven up the film throughout, most notably the prologue/opening credits showing us the creature's backstory in life. The soundtrack is filled with great retro '80s needle drops, especially once the creature regains the use of his hands and can play the piano again. Cole Sprouse as the creature had no dialogue barring grunts, moans, and screams, but he still made for a compelling presence on screen as the other half of the film's central romance, proving that seven years on Riverdale was a waste of a lot of young actors' talents. This was Williams' first feature film, and if this is indicative of her skill behind the camera, I can see her going far. And most importantly, this movie is hysterical. The entire theater was laughing throughout, and I was right there with them. There are jokes about everything from "back massagers" to the creature's physical decay, and more broadly, its campy gothic tone is played far more for laughs than frights, most notably in one death scene that would be the most brutal in the film on the face of it but is instead one of the most hilarious scenes in it as the film shows us just enough to let us know exactly what happened and wince while still remaining PG-13. Cody's grasp of storytelling may have been shaky here, but her knack for getting me to laugh my ass off remains fully intact.
The Bottom Line
Lisa Frankenstein should've had more care put into its screenplay, especially once act three comes around, but it's still a very funny and watchable movie that, much like Jennifer's Body, I can see enduring as a cult classic. If you're not into the Big Game, check it out.

Thank you for your support and love, Anon! I always talk about how we didn’t expect anyone at all to enjoy our content, our ships and our thoughts about them, and honestly it still feels bizarre. So I really can’t stress it enough: hearing your words of support really means a lot. These characters and ships are really dear to us, and as long as we feel passionate about them, we’ll keep posting them <3 I’m very glad you can see our passion for the characters in our drawings! A princess who doesn't know she's a princess falls in love with a prince who she doesn't know she's engaged to, but she finds out she's engaged and doesn't even know that she's engaged to him. There's a lot you can do to play around with that in a story, where the audience knows this but the characters don't. It's super fun!!! When all the pieces come together in the end, it's really satisfying too!!!!
I'm always disappointed when remakes cut out the dramatic irony of it all, so in twst, despite nothing like that happening with silver outside of the princess part lol I can see a lot of similarities with Lilia and Idia being online friends who don't know that they actually know each other irl, and I won't spoil it here, but some events that have gone down in book 7 make me really excited to see if there will be more references to aurora and philip's relationship between them. I'm suuuuch a big fan of it I'm PUMPED!!!!!!!!!
First of all! I absolutely agree about what you said about Lilia/Idia’s visual and characteristic contrast (well this isn’t surprising to hear lol): they’re just stupidly fun to look at and watch. The age gap also adds a lot to their dynamic.
Second of all, yeah THE COMPARISON REALLY MAKES A LOT OF SENSE. The fact that Lilia and Idia are so close already without even realising makes this ship so amazingly interesting and sweet and funny and cute and hot and dramatic at the same time!! And while I don’t know what exactly you’re referring to (you already know, we haven’t watched book7 yet), but we’ve been thinking about the main story giving Lilidia a painfully tasty moment for a long time now. Yana Toboso looooves her setups and long games with satisfying payoffs, and she’s definitely been preparing something for these two.
Fun fact: Aurora has been my absolute favourite Disney Princess, and even though we’re yet to rewatch the Sleeping Beauty, your ask really got me excited about it. And about book 7 too..! I’m really looking forward to it.

💜Requests: Requests are when you have a full-length idea for a yandere character. You have a general plot you wish the story would follow, the reader has a specific trait you like (shy, preppy, etc.). The reason I haven't opened requests in a long time is that I tend to get a little anxious when writing people's requests. I worry that I'll let them down in some way, this usually leads to writer's block. That's why I think I work better with suggestions and asks, as opposed to requests. That way people get to see the character they want and I'm able to write anxiety and writer's block free!
💜Suggestions: Suggestions (much like Asks) will always and forever be open. They're my way of brainstorming story ideas and including my followers in the writing process. You can always send in suggestions for any characters. I.E -Yandere! (character) with a darling who's scared of the dark. Or. What would happen if Yandere!(character) suddenly realized they love their darling? Or even. How would/this is how I think, this character would be as a Yandere?- There's absolutely no templet for suggestions, it's just me wanting to hear my readers' thoughts on different characters (or sometimes I might ask for suggestions for a specific character/series) if you ever have anything on your mind about any character I write for, always feel free to send it in. I'll try to answer them as quickly as possible. Suggestions are also my way of seeing if my readers would be interested in a certain character/series before I commit to writing for it.
💜Asks: Asks are super general and they (much like Suggestions) will always be open. They can literally be you sending in how you think a character would act as a Yandere or asking me how I think a character would act as a Yandere. They can even be personal things you wish to ask/tell me. I.E - Hi Genie, how was your day? How's Uni going? I think you should watch this show. This song gives off vibes that I think you'd like. I have an idea I think you'd like.- Again there are no templates for asks, they are just my way of engaging/interacting with my readers.

I'd love if they were present together in the Storm Border post Lostbelt 5, having learned about ORT and losing Musashi. The danger may have passed and they're moving on, but there's an emotional weight still pressnt and a sense of loss. It would be nice to see Kiara's softer side attempting to comfort and support Ritsuka
(Kiara is the main servant I use for everything, so at least for me she was present through all of that and helped kill Zeus)
Oooh! I really like this one (the first part of the ask was F!Ritsuka and Kiara). Sadly, I haven’t actually finished LB5, but I tried to be as loyal to the spirit of it as possible.
As written this is mean to be Canon-compliant (i.e. nobody remembers Kiara) but I might be willing to do a version that’s compliant with Karuṇā canon if people want that.

The shadow border is dead quiet.
It is not a place of levity. It is what’s left, after the death of Chaldea, their home. It’s the only thing left, after almost three years of struggle, after the death or Romani Archaman and Leonardo da Vinci and
What it is, is a place of hope. Or, perhaps more accurately, of perseverance. A cramped, uncomfortable place, stuffy with loss, but a place where people who have faced death together for years (and Director Goredolf) live in solidarity with one another, cry on each other’s shoulders, make jokes and talk about inconsequential things, or about memories, as they have done for a thousand thousand years: as—hopefully, if they can keep holding on, if they can weather another storm—people might do for a thousand thousand more. So long as they still hope, as they tell stories of the dead. So long as they persevere, as they eat imperishable rations.
But hope for what? Perseverance to what end?
Now they know.
Now, they know.
And so it’s quiet. Quiet like it would have been if they had not made it to the Shadow Border.
And Ritsuka Fujimaru, worked so hard to be the former last master of humanity, now the last once again, is not speaking. Is barely eating. Barely moving.
For the past two days, as they have driven across silent salt flats that were once the Russian Lostbelt, she has been curled up on bed, has barely stirred, except to eat and drink what Mash brings to her, to go to the bathroom, to thrash in her almost-sleep.
In hushed whispers, some of the remaining staff say that everyone has a breaking point. Living with heroic spirits as they do (have done), hamartia is a concept as familiar as death.
One so kind is ill-suited to the task ahead of them. The very thing that let her survive is now turned agaisnt her.
It’s all so terribly cruel.

It’s dark. The only light is a pale patch of thin moonlight slanting in to the floor. The only sound is the drone of the Shadow Border’s engine, its steady progress rumbling through the bones of its passengers.
Her ribs hurt from lying down, and after several minutes of continued pain she turns over, facing the wall.
She killed all those people so she could live. It’s that simple.
There wasn’t time to weigh humanity—Proper Human History now, she supposes—against the Yaga. She couldn’t fold, couldn’t die, couldn’t leave everyone without hope, just because she couldn’t make a decision in the time alotted. So she had decided: this will not be that does me in. Many have tried. It will not be you. She’d swallowed her feelings.
Ivan had demanded to see her resolve. To look him in the eye as she… but he had gotten desperation instead.
Her hands start to shake again.
That dark spiral in her thoughts, tugging at her—she can’t resist it anymore.
She doesn’t turn away this time.
Has Okita Souji, man-slayer, killed even a fraction many people as she? Has Altera so completely wiped a civilization from history?
Her mother, for all that she is, has never done anything so…
She starts to scratch her arm, short blunt nails clawing against her skin.
Selfish. Selfish. She’s a mass-murderer now. So many lives for her own…!
She whimpers and curls in on herself. Hates herself for it.
As long as you don’t hurt anyone and you’re willing to work together toward the Grand Order, everyone is welcome.
People are counting on her to do it again. And again.
How can she look them… look anyone in the eyes when. When.
She can’t do it.
But Doctor Roman… Da Vinci… she has a duty. She can’t, she can’t leave it undone.
Her vision starts to tunnel. She’s not getting enough oxygen, even though she’s breathing faster and faster.
She can’t. She can’t do anything.
She doesn’t want to hurt anyone, she never wanted to hurt anyone ever again and now—
Somebody else… if somebody else could take this duty she’s worked so hard at, that has crushed her shoulders…
There’s nobody else left. She would never push this burden on anyone else.
But surely somebody… somebody…
Please. I don’t want to do this. Please.
She rages and squirms in the dark, heart tearing, pain consuming her, until eventually she tires herself out, and begins to drift off.
Distantly, in the back of her mind, she thinks she hears something—a chime, a clink of metal, a whisper of cloth.
The wordless call of something unseen as she slips into dreams.
To pursue life, for onesself… and, perhaps, for those one cares about… is one of the four essential truths of the realm desire.
She sees Patxi, gun thrown to the side, holding desperately to a Krichat’ as it bucks and bellows and tries to nick him with its poisoned horn.
To cling to it desperately, even when it causes suffering to onesself, to others, is the beautiful greed bestowed on all living beings.
She watches him pull out a long, cruel hunting knife to stab deep into its side. It spasms and cries out.
Its foot kicks desperately against his leg, tearing flesh and fur.
For one, triumph: for one, disaster. This is what is meant by “good and evil are difficult to measure.”
Weakening, the creature falls.
Far across the mountains, its young wait in the cold dark of a den for their parent to return.
Patxi pulls the body of their mother onto his shoulders, and trudges through the snow, leaving a trail of blood from the beast on his shoulder and from his own leg.
Such suffering is the proof of life.
She sees Patxi in his house, krichat’ strung up to bleed out into a bucket while he bandages himself.
Is it sinful to survive a fight to the death for the sake of one’s own desires? Does that change if one’s family is bigger than another, if one is happier than another? If one’s cause is rationalized and the other instinctual?
She sees Patxi knocking on a door with food in hand, stepping inside to see his mother.
The Krichat’ pups: one still and cold, one striking out into the blizzard. The others eat their sibling, still waiting for a parent that will not return.
Everyone is chasing their own desires. Everyone wants to survive. It’s just that the result of that is death. Who can be called the responsible party? This is the way of living beings.
Patxi stalks through the woods toward the sound of fighting. A coalition of Krichat’ surround two figures, red-orange and black and purple, poised for the kill. He watches, and after a moment, shakes his head and raises his rifle.
It is said that the Buddha taught flesh-eating creatures to eat plants, soul-eaters to feast on the recently dead: that the gift of bodhi freed others from suffering, from causing harm to one another. But what of those who remain?
Kadoc takes Anastasia’s hand outside a palace, and they nod to one another.
A coalition of starving Krichat’ surround two figures, red-orange and black and purple, poised for the kill.
Patxi stalks through the woods towards the sound of fighting, of voices yelling. He sees them, and counts bullets, and thinks of money. He hesitates.
They are not so lucky.
He watches, for a moment longer, and then shakes his head, raising the rifle to his shoulder.
A female Yaga points the silent oprichniki forward, and Atalante’s arrow tears out her throat
Ivan the Terrible bellows, and thunder flashes in the sky, as a blizzard rages on and on.
On the bleached earth, the stars twinkle in the sky, and in them a woman holds the planet in the palm of her hand.
…And their struggling pleases me greatly. So live, and suffer, so that I can bear witness to it. Suffer and kill for those you love, and for yourself.
She smiles down at all living beings with a bodhisattva’s merciful gaze, as they are wracked by turmoil and strife, striving toward the horizon, towards happiness, towards sadness, towards pain and release, clutching comforts to themselves and watching them crumble away into time.
And in particular, on one small girl, in a ship on land, curled up in her bed.
She holds them all to her breast, watching, waiting.
And if you must continue to close your heart to the Dharma… if you must continue to tempt me by clinging tightly to your heavenly desires despite everything… yes, if you must have someone to blame… consider for yourself...
She looks down from the stars, and sees six white trees growing, reaching out past the sky.
Why does one world’s survival depend on the death of another? Who decided that?
Ritsuka starts to fade, slipping away from the dream.
And Master. Always remember. If you truly decide to turn away from your path…
The white world and its white trees are stained, black and magenta, wriggling outward to cover its surface.
You may always find your comfort in the palm of my hand.
The last thing to fade from her awareness is the terrible, beautiful sound of a woman’s laughter.

In the morning, Mash knocks on the door, before sliding it open. To her shock, Senpai is sitting up in bed. She smiles when she sees Mash, that familar weary glow that has seen them through time and time again.
“Hey.” She smiles, ruefully. “Thank you, Mash, for always taking care of me.” There’s an anguished resolve, a straightness in her spine as she stands up, and Mash blinks in surprise. “Sorry about the last couple days. I’ve made up my mind now.” She smiles, and reaches out her hand, and Mash will always, always take it. “Let’s keep facing things. Together.”
“Of course. I’m glad you’re doing better, Senpai.”
That hand squeezes her own.
“Me too, Mash. Let’s go get some breakfast.”
As they set out again toward a journey filled with terrible suffering, with disappointment, with joy, without end, the faint scent of incense and crushed flowers follows them out of the room.
Behind them, the door clicks shut.

REPRESENTATION ANXIETY AND WHY IT’S BAD FOR ACTUALLY PROVIDING REPRESENTATION / WHAT CONSTITUTES AS REAL REPRESENTATION / WHY ITS IMPORTANT IN TV ART/ENTERTAINMENT
Ever heard of the phrase “representation anxiety” when it comes to TV art/entertainment? No, I haven’t just made it up: it’s a real thing/a real concept. It’s something that’s only come up recently actually. See representation - especially when it comes to sexuality/identity/gender - is all over the place now. Therefore it’s nowhere near as restricted/limited as it used to be when writing and producing TV art/entertainment. And so representation is often made a “quota” in the TV art/entertainment landscape now. Creators are encouraged and expected to include it somewhere - usually for selfish reasons - a means of getting more or better ratings (i.e. making more money/gaining more power/success/fame) by the studios, networks or streaming services/companies. It’s a literal quota to meet as if in the business of sales - because technically it is about sales. And so there is an anxiety surrounding providing that representation and meeting that quota of representation by creators in TV art/entertainment. And this anxiety is a pressure and when pressure is involved in creating art/entertainment, things go wrong very quickly out of sloppiness, carelessness, laziness, ignorance. The anxiety is so strong that there is a loss of focus.
Now anybody that suffers with anxiety knows why this is. It’s because you’re so focused on and worrying about and overthinking what makes you anxious that you lose sight of everything else that’s important. In context of creating art/entertainment this means the quality of your writing/producing starts to decline because you neglect the storytelling aspect to focus entirely on the representation aspect - and so representation now becomes something you’re forcing and contriving into your art/entertainment rather than letting it flow and ebb naturally and organically. Plot and character narrative/theme or arc takes second place to making sure you show that gay/queer couple doing gay/queer things as much as possible without a foundation for why or how. Whether it makes sense, is logical, feels realistic or even is at the right place and time for it. All that takes a backseat. All the detail, all the nuance, all the substance just gets sucked out completely in favour of meeting that fucking quota you’re pressured to meet by the higher-ups at the studio/network/company who could not give a shit about your work - what it provides, what it teaches - when or where. They’re not gonna watch it. Executives very rarely ever watch the media they greenlight for production unless they absolutely have to because it’s failing so they can sus out why they believe it might be failing. It’s not for any kind of genuine support or help or in solidarity for your passions, your ambitions, your heart. They don’t care about any of that unfortunately. Creative ideas and decisions don’t matter to them unless those creative ideas and decisions make bank. So you’re not doing yourself or anyone else that cares any favours by forcing and contriving representation. By being so anxious about it that you’ve lost your focus. I get it. It’s not easy when it’s a major project. When there’s people watching you do what you do. But the thing is is representation is not proper or genuine representation if it’s just put in there for the sake of it. When there’s no rhyme or reason behind it. And I’ve watched a lot of TV art/entertainment where this is unfortunately the case. Where I can tell that it’s just a quota to meet and isn’t giving me anything substantial or real. I almost immediately pick that up. Sometimes it’s in a really selfish way like with queerbaiting - which by the way - you can queerbait a canon textual couple just as much as you can non-canon subtextual ones because if your couple is not proper/genuine gay/queer representation anyway… then it’s going to come across very queerbait-y because of all the forced sexual intimacy and then no context behind why or how it happens - no communication between the characters - no aftermath, no set up, no emotional connection, no chemistry - no realism or depth. It’s going to seem like an act - which obviously it is - but your viewers aren’t supposed to think or feel that way. It’s supposed to be convincing, it’s supposed to be well written and performed to the point where it looks and feels real. That’s when representation really works. When the viewers watching are fully immersed or engaged in what’s happening on the screen that they feel things. That’s guaranteed not to happen when it’s forced in.
Here’s the deal. Communication and connection. If you can show this happening between the characters both when it’s in a sexual context and when it’s not - then you’ve got something substantial with which to build on. The main problem with forced or contrived representation is that there is no foundation for it. It just comes out of nowhere. It just happens randomly. There’s no slow burn or anything even remotely close to any genuine connection or attraction or love between the characters that you force into a romantic/sexual relationship. It lacks everything that makes it stand up and holds it up. It lacks foundation.
I personally tend to gravitate towards slow burn and friends-to-lovers or even enemies-to-lovers situations and tropes in TV art/entertainment because there is rich history there between the characters where it actually seems probable and even appropriate for them to develop into romance. You can see and feel the chemistry radiating off of them, the intensity, the longing, the passion - in more than just a sexual way. There’s deep emotions and feelings there that drive the attraction the characters have for one another. I very rarely see that anymore in TV art/entertainment. And I understand the reason why this is - it’s time constraints mostly and it’s not the fault of creators. But that doesn’t make it any easier for me to watch it. I can’t justify watching, supporting and shipping a couple or a relationship just out of time constraints because that makes me feel fake and obligatory and yeah - that’s not something I wish to feel in watching TV art/entertainment. I want my experience to be genuine and real just as much as I want the characters and their relationship to be genuine and real. I’ll be honest - I don’t watch pure romance or love stories because if that’s the only thing that piece of art/entertainment is for or about - it does feel very fake. My niche is action/fantasy/drama because there’s more going on with the individual characters - they have individual stories, arcs, developments and those don’t take away from the romance or love story. Actually,… it tends to help it and cultivate it because if the individual characters feel real and fleshed out, probably, very likely, the relationship also will too because all of the individual detail informs the coupling detail. You see? This gives it foundation.
Xena and Gabrielle are my most favourite gay/queer relationship of all-time despite them not even being textually canon - as in they were never confirmed as canon lovers or a canon couple in the TV show itself. They actually couldn’t be. I’ve gone into the reasons why this is many times before so I won’t talk about it in this post. Anyway, there is a reason why they are and still remain my favourite and honestly the best representation of any romance or love story - gay/queer or otherwise - that I’ve ever since in TV art/entertainment. The reason why is because they’re main characters that have a lot of focus on their individual representation and development each and all of that builds incredibly solid foundation for what becomes their “non-canon” romance and love story. And in every way where it actually matters,… it is what a depiction of a romance or love story should be. This TV show is action/fantasy/drama with some comedy thrown in here and there. It’s truly the most insane, farcical, campy shit ever - but THEY FEEL REAL. They communicate, they emotionally connect, they declare their love, they kiss, they get married, they behave as domestic, they have a baby… Even though they’re not confirmed as a main-textual canon couple in it, they are exactly what representation for romantic/sexual relationships should be in TV art/entertainment today! And because IT’S NOT… that’s why it is still THE BEST. Them being my favourite is a subjective obviously, but yeah, they are genuinely objectively the best representation there is in TV art/entertainment because they’re a same-sex main protagonist couple. Both of them. Not one a main character and the other a supporting/recurring character. Both of them are THE ONLY main protagonists all throughout the entirety of the show. 6 SEASONS length of a show. And their romance/love story is a major storyline. It’s not a textually canon romance/love story, but it plays out exactly like one regardless of the “non-canonity”. So it doesn’t matter. It does not matter whatsoever. Now here’s the problem with watching this show in this day and age where representation is expected. It can come across as queerbaiting that there is so much ‘will they-won’t they’ subtext. I hate queerbaiting with a searing passion. I think it’s the worst thing that we have to put up with in TV art/entertainment in a queer narrative. So trust me when I say that what it may initially look like you - it isn’t. Again, I’ve explained why many times before so I’m not gonna go into it here. But give this show a chance. Seriously, give it a chance. It is an EPIC love story.
I’ll leave this post off by saying that representation anxiety is awful and I do understand the pressure but I cannot support representation that’s forced and contrived. Not when I’ve had a life-changing experience where I’ve gotten so much better and where I know what real representation looks/feels like.
This is not an order. It’s a request.
Do better because representation anxiety is ruining what should be amazing influential art/entertainment that people can really learn from and be inspired by every day that they watch/interact with/engage in your creation be it in whatever format - but it’s especially important in a television/visual format because people look into it and see themselves in it. They would get a sense who they are and what their purpose is through watching this TV show or movie or video with characters that can mean so much to them that have a relationship between them that can be seen or interpreted as a romantic/sexual love story and you have to provide the foundation and honesty and the substance for it to be real representation. Meeting a quota is not worth it and it’s not enough.

In response to the ask for a chemotherapy comfort audio - mild CW for addressing real world health issues including seizures, and apologies for the colossal post, but I felt this is an important topic;
Hey, random meh VA/writer here, just giving my thoughts on this sort of subject in general.
Firstly, I mean no slight against people who do niche comfort audios for real things. If you enjoy that kind of stuff, more power to you! If you make content that broaches real things like this, I have some thoughts but by all means make the content you want! Just giving a few of my thoughts on why I personally err away from making these audios.
The issue as I see it is that there's a murky line between addressing real world issues responsibly, and addressing them in a way that feels wrong. This is why I say it's murky, because it very much comes down to how it feels, it's hard to quantify. There are a lot of period comfort/reverse comfort audios out there, and while I'm not against them (in fact one from a few years ago comes to mind that was very well-written), a lot of people I've spoken to are put-off by them particularly when done by male VAs.
I feel some of the concern with real world issue audios like these is when they're not done with the right amount of familiarity with the subject, or when they feel like they're done for the wrong reasons, i.e. if they're not approached properly they can come off as somewhat... fetishistic? Exploitative?
As an example of the former, coming-out audios. Honestly I have a deep respect for this genre of comfort audio even if they're not my kind of thing, but they do need to be written with the right amount of respect, and you can really get a feeling if the writer isn't familiar enough with the subject, even if they mean well. There's a reason sensitivity readers are important; I'm sure I don't need to list the potential pitfalls of an autism comfort audio if made by someone with no experience with autism. (don't have any creators in mind here, not disparaging anyone, just giving possible examples)
Again, I'm not knocking real life styled comfort audios, it's wonderful they exist! A small VA I saw years ago comes to mind whose speaker characters are (IIRC) all blind, because the creator themselves is also blind, and so the topic felt extremely respectfully and knowledgeably explored! These concerns are just among the reasons I personally don't really do them.
That said, for the subjects I feel I have enough experience to be able to comment meaningfully, some of my audios address fictionalised issues that are coded similarly to these sorts of things, and I feel that as long as I'm careful to make sure the subtext isn't carrying an unintended negative message, then listeners are able to read in their own interpretations depending on how they relate. Honestly the way people react to these sorts of audios means the world! For instance I had an audio where the listener reveals to the speaker that they aren't human. It was a fantasy comfort/acceptance audio, which (while initially unintended) was very obviously coded as a coming-out audio. I'd spotted the coding late in writing, and just made sure that the subtext was respectful to that but I didn't explicitly lean into it, but later a queer friend thanked me for it saying it meant a lot the way it was written, that it was meaningful to them. Other of my characters are coded as genderqueer, so while the stories are fictional and fantastical, their experiences are relatable - to my own experiences and hopefully to the listeners as well - and allow me to address these feelings and, I hope, deliver a good message without hammering the audience with real world problems.
Conversely, imagine if a fictional coming-out story's subtext happened to be "it's better to be what other people tell you to be, don't be who you are" - even if it's a story about magical creatures and not queer people, the message is a problem. I put a lot of thought into one audio I made when I realised the subtext was "gullibly believe what people tell you even when they don't have evidence" to make sure the fictional story still worked for what I was going for, and also didn't unintentionally promote harmful reasoning.
I think I've only gotten a direct request once for a real-world comfort audio; someone commented asking for a seizure comfort audio. As I explained in response, if someone with enough experience on the subject wants to make comfort audios on that subject that sounds great, but I definitely don't know anywhere near enough to be comfortable doing that. For me to weigh in on seizure comfort in a story... I could probably throw something functional and well-meaning together, but it just feels wrong for me to do that. I'm ignorant on the subject, it would feel to me like I were condescending down to people who actually have seizures about their own conditions. A little while later they responded again, I think in their mind trying to pep me up and give some suggestions for a scenario I could write (there's another conversation to be had about unsolicited requests but I'll leave that here). Coincidentally, in the time between my response and their response back, my mother had had a seizure in front of me, and I had received the second "could you make a seizure comfort audio?" comment while she was still at the hospital (she's fine, full recovery). I regret the way I was more terse in my response after that, the commenter deleted everything after so I couldn't reach out later in a better headspace and apologise. But I guess this is the key issue with addressing real world problems in fiction; they're still real world problems. If you're going to do it, you have to do it responsibly.
For the ask this was in response to; if I were asked if I could make a chemo comfort audio, I think it'd have to be a no. I don't have enough knowledge on the subject to feel like I could comfortably comment on it. I could make a generic "you're in the hospital feeling bad" comfort audio, but for me to then slap a "chemo comfort" in the title and no no other work feels to me exploitative. If any of my illness comfort scenarios are relatable to anyone in a similar situation, it's genuinely awesome when people relate to things like that! I do try to make sure that whatever coding the story has, even if it's not intentional, the story isn't delivering a bad message it shouldn't be.
Am I overthinking things? Maybe. Sorry for the huge message again, I understand if the esteemed Ringmaster feels this ask isn't the kind of thing they're looking for and doesn't post it, that's cool! Just had a lot of thoughts in response.
